(Penny, Wolfman, Slider, Merlin, and Hollywood run though the front door of Iceman and Maverick house, with Iceman tiredly sitting on the couch in the living room)

Wolfman: Ice?! what's wrong?! We all got your message that you needed help!

Iceman: It's awful! The whole house is sick! First Hangman came down with the flu, then Phoenix, then Rooster, then Payback, and then all the rest of the Dagger Squad! I was running a sick ward all weekend!

Merlin:...wait, why isn't Maverick helping you?

Iceman (flatly): Because then came Monday...

(Maverick comes out in his bathrobe, hair tousled, pale, clammy, and half-asleep and in his hands a bottle of pills)

Maverick (whining): Ice, honey? Can you open the aspirin for me?

(The whole 80s Top Gun team and Penny stay to help Iceman run the house and take care of Maverick and the Dagger Squad)

(Maverick is in bed, weakly ringing a bell)

Maverick (ringing the bell): Slider...

Slider (in the next room helping Coyote): Give me a minute.

Maverick (ringing the bell): Slider...

Slider (in the next room): I said I'm coming!

Maverick (ringing the bell): Slider...

(Slider rushes into Maverick's bedroom in a panic): What?! What?! What?!

Maverick (weakly): My pillow needs poofing.

Slider (eye twitching):...Mitchell, I don't think you want to put a pillow in my hands right now.

(Maverick is in bed, whining and gasping for breath)

Maverick (weakly): I'm dying, Hollywood. I'm giving up the ghost. Every cell in my being is crying out in anguish. It was a good life while it lasted, but this is it. Hello, Grim Reaper.

Hollywood (with a bottle of cough syrup and a spoon in his hands): Cut the bullshit. The medicine doesn't taste that bad.

Maverick (weakly):...Goose? Dad? Carol? Is that you?

(Maverick is in his bathrobe, still sick, and in Iceman's home office while Iceman is frantically typing away on his keyboard)

Maverick: Ice, sweetie? Can you heat up some chicken soup for me?

Iceman (stressed): Mav, sorry but I'm really busy right now! I need to approve this contract in twenty minutes! Can't you just fend for yourself?

Maverick (whining): But I'm sick, honey...

Iceman: Mav, for fuck's sake, we're not talking brain surgery! All you have to do is open a stupid can and dump it in a pot!

(Maverick disappears into the kitchen and then come back a minute later. In his hands is a pot, and in the pot is a can of chicken soup. The can is open but the contents of the soup are still inside the can)

Maverick: Now what?

Iceman:...now, we talk brain surgery.

(Maverick stumbles in the kitchen where Penny, Wolfman, and Merlin are making soup and orange juice for all the Dagger Squad)

Maverick: Is it time for my aspirin yet?

Wolfman: No, Mitchell.

Maverick: But my throat hurts...

Merlin: Maverick, go back to bed. It hasn't been four hours yet.

Maverick: But my head hurts! My joints hurt! My eyes hurt! My body hurts! (in a baby voice) My itty bitty widdle pinkies hurt!

(Penny sighs and opens the aspirin bottle)

Maverick (smirks): I knew I'd win with that one.

Penny: These aren't for you.

(Penny gives two pills to herself, Merlin, and Wolfman and they all gulp them down immediately)

Top gun 50s/early 60s AU but it's also a boarding school AU.

There's a separate boys and girls school but they kind of interlink, they do dances together and stuff so think like the two schools in Heartstopper and how they're close by and do social stuff together

Carole is a scholarship student, she's a bookworm who has those big glasses and a gap toothed smile. Her roommate is Penny, a nepotism baby with a dad who got offered the role of an Admiral after his excellence as a Captain in The War, she's very sporty and more butch, or as much as she can be in the late 50s/early 60s, as she has 4 brothers.

Carole's friends with the other scholarship kid, Charlotte Blackwood, who's detemined to make it into college even if her parents really don't think that's a woman's place. She's got a weekend job in town and saves all her money up for fancy clothes, bright red lipstick, satin dresses with fur trims and does her hair like Marilyn Monroe. Her roommate is one, Elizabeth Corday, a british student who just wants to be a surgeon like her dad

In the boy's school we have Nick Bradshaw and his cousin, Mark Greene, both kids with dad's in the military. Goose is called that for how he sneaked a goose into the girls dorms during a prank war.

He's best friends with Pete Mitchell, sent to the school by an aunt who just wants him out of the way like everyone. Last year he dormed with goose but this year, let's say their junior year so 16-17, he's been paired with Tom Kazansky, determined to be an Admiral just like his dad.

But Goose realises he not only likes rock and roll, learning to play a lot of songs on the piano much to the teacher's dismay, but also boys. One boy in particular, the Captain of the Football team, Ron Kerner

Ron's a scholarship kid too, he's serious about getting out of his shitty life any way possible and does not have time for dating

Goose goes to the school library with his friend Carole, and finds out that she has a crush on her roommate Penny and, to make it even more taboo for them, her friend Charlie as well

And when his cousin Mark makes the assumption that he's dating her, he gets the brilliant idea to fake their relationship, try to set up their crushes with each other, Charlie with Pete and Penny and Ron, secretly date them behind the scenes, using their double dates as a cover up to go off with their crushes

The only problem is, they have to do this without outing themselves and maybe getting themselves kicked out to conversion therapy *sad 50s noises*

And to add another layer, Penny and Charlie don't even like each other because they're fighting over Pete

Charlie dated him last year, as a cover up and in the poor hope that it will get rid of her outrageous crush on Carole, but showed up after the summer to see him sharing spit with Penny

So they hate each other

But both love Carole

And Carole loves both of them

When hanging out on the weekend, Penny and Carole find themselves alone, one thing leads to another and they end up kissing

Carole still loves Charlie too, and Penny's not giving up her cover with Pete now

At a school dance, Goose, sad that he's still not got closer to Ron, offers her a solution, set Charlie up with Ron, two career focused people who both have an image to up keep

Cue typical rom-com shenanigans, also featuring Carole and Penny cuddling for warmth in winter, Goose watching Ron train and going fully red when he walks over and smiles, all covered in sweat

Eventually, Goose kisses Ron, he teaches him a bit of piano and tries to show him that he can still have his golden future and have fun at the same time

Also Icemav get together in the background

Eventually we get a grease like situation in terms of friendship, but charenrole, sloose and icemav together secretly

Also Mark and Elizabeth get together too, but that's really in the background, just got to sprinkle in my love for ER wherever I can lol

Actually yes!

Mav keeps the same timeline as far as TG and TGM go. 🤣 By the time TGM rolls around he’s well into his fifties and happy balancing test piloting and his royal duties. He’s still not king though, because Fergus is still kicking. He and Viper still hang out all the time with all the tact of old men 🤣

Scotland just puts up with it because Mav has two heirs of his own. 🤣 Ice is happily running two Navys (one is behind the scenes) and Slider is running four castles with an iron fist and flying commercial. (Ice doesn't die because there’s a royal decree that he isn't allowed to smoke and has to take his high blood pressure medication. Not everyone, just Tom Kazansky).

Oh you're so right about what happened with Darkstar 🤣🤣🤣 Every pub in Scotland is full of drunks singing their favorite song of Our Paddy Canae Die!

But no Scot needs to find out how close they came to losing two heirs and getting fifteen-year-old Queen Amelia. 🤣

Six months of deployment, even when he isn't the one flying but giving directions and instructions, leave Maverick more tired than any other tour before. He can almost feel it in his bones why Sunny is stepping down the moment he's going to turn sixty.

All he wants to do is sleep for the next seven years and lay on his bed until he can't anymore. But he promised to his class and to the Daggers to go out for a drink, and seriously, how could he say no when Halo looked at him with shiny, pleading eyes?

"Just one drink and then I'm gone." He says it out loud and he doesn't know if he's trying to convince himself or Javy, even if the other pilot is looking at him like he knows it's all a ruse and Mav is going to stay until the end of the night. But no, no, it's not going to happen; he needs t- oh. Oh.

"Penny, I'm looking good, right?" he asks to the woman behind the counter.

"Yeah?" she answers, but she doesn't seem sure of why he should ask her that question until her eyes follow what, who, is in Mav's line and "oh Maverick" she says laughing softly. "You look handsome, he won't be able to resist you."

Someone snouts behind his back, and Bradley, behind Neil, almost screams, "Seriously, dad?! Oh my god. Penny, I'll need a beer, I can't stand to watch this all over again."

What a dramatic child he helped raise, but Pete is on a mission and fuck being tired. He's going to take the man in front of him home at the end of the night, or he's not going to go home at all.

The man is looking at him from across the room when he starts moving his first steps, and he bites his lip so he doesn't start smiling like an idiot or worse, let his cheeks go red. They meet in the middle of the room, and jesus Maverick is really going to hit the jackpot this time around.

"Hi stranger"

"Hello to you" he answers, and God, why does he feel like twenty-four all over again, stumbling on his feet to get the attention of a particular person?

"I heard you're a pilot. Your friends back there couldn't stop talking about how good you are behind the cockpit." They're going to write, here rests Pete Mitchell, died because a too handsome man killed him simply by talking.

"I'm the best." He smirks and what a dumb way to answer, but it should be consider a miracle he isn't answering monosyllabic.

"Are you sure of that, sweetheart?" He whispers against his ear and Mav's hands close around his shirt.

He's going to answer, he swears, but when he looks in the man's eyes, they're so close, so fucking close, he just has to tilt his head to kiss him. And so he does, until he can feel his lungs running out of oxygen, but even then he doesn't move far, just enough to look at him in the eyes.

"Welcome back home, love" Ice whispers before kissing him again.

(It takes Rooster pleading for mercy, Penny asking and Slider removing Mav from Ice to make them stop and promise to not kiss anymore until after they'll be alone. The promises last two hours before they're both tipsy and handsy all over again.

On the back of the cab, Mav's hand are around Ice's face all over again. "I missed you so much" he whispers.

"I missed you too, babe" Ice answers, hugging him against his chest "I'm glad you're back."

Mav hums in response and yeah, maybe he is still a little tired but he's going home with the man; he said he was going home too, so sleep can wait for another couple, or maybe four, hours.)
