the way of the work husband 📋 chan x reader.
Tumblr media
going back to work after the holidays sucks, but at least you've got your 'work husband' lee chan to get you through it.
★ office worker!chan x f!reader. ★ word count: 1.8k ★ genre/warnings: alternate universe: office, alternate universe: co-workers, fluff/romance. vernon is a menace (affectionately). not proofread. ★ footnotes: been itching to write chan lately and this was the result. dedicating this to my favorite corporate girlie!dinonara @chanranghaeys, who i have been threatening a chan fic with for a little over a week now ෆ sana all may lee chan sa office. 😔 + a special shoutout to @diamonddaze01 for educating me on the how work spouses operate. 🙏
Tumblr media
“Is Lee Chan, like, your work husband or something?”
The look on Vernon’s face is perfectly innocent, but his arched eyebrow gives some indication of just how amused he is. You shoot him a scathing glare before turning back to your work-sanctioned laptop.
You don’t answer Vernon’s question. Not at first, anyway. Instead, you opt to wryly ask, “Why do you always have to use his full government name whenever you’re talking about him?”
“Eh. Just ‘Chan’ is too short,” Vernon responds noncommittally. He should be focusing on the grant that he has to write, but he seems intent on quizzing you on your relationship with the company’s newest program assistant.
Vernon leans a little further into his computer chair. He’s always been a pretty amicable seatmate; he just liked to poke the bear every so often.
“So?” he prompts. “Are you and Lee Chan… you know.”
When Vernon makes a vague, crude gesture with his hands, you groan out loud. “Don’t make it weird,” you snap. “And no. Chan and I are just friends, asswipe.”
“But you guys display peak work spouse behavior.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be grant writing?”
“Aren’t you supposed to be getting your afternoon coffee with Mr. Program Assistant?”
Vernon’s rebuttal has you glancing at the digital clock on your desk. Shit.
“This doesn’t mean anything,” you say as you grab your wallet and get to your feet. You hate to admit it, but Vernon is right. You’ve started dedicating your fifteen-minute afternoon breaks to cafeteria trips with Chan.
All in the name of friendship, you insist.
“‘Course it doesn’t,” Vernon sing-songs. Just when you think he’s done, he throws in a final jab.
“I’ll have an itemized list of my observations,” he calls after your retreating back. “Just you wait!”
You don’t turn around to dignify Vernon’s taunt with a response. Instead, you flip him off over your shoulder as you contemplate what coffee to get with Chan today.
Tumblr media
Rarely are you late to work. Some mornings are just harrowing, littered with minor inconveniences like your alarm not going off or the bus making one too many stops.
When you finally make it to the office, you can already imagine the CEO’s backhand comment about punctuality. Something like ‘early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable,’ probably.
That’s why you feel an immense pang of relief when you notice a vacant seat near the back of the room, one that you undoubtedly know is yours.
You make your way to the chair as discreetly as you can. The bag atop it is taken off the moment that you arrive, and you flash an appreciative grin at the one who made it possible.
Chan— who is already shifting his bag onto his lap— gives you an exaggerated wink in return.
You mouth a wordless ‘thank you’ at him. He doesn’t respond verbally, just smiles at you in that way that lights up a whole room. It’s the type of grin that has you forgetting just how bad of a morning you had; you’d lose yourself in it if weren’t for the ominous presence of Vernon a couple of seats down.
The meeting grabs your attention soon enough, but not before you notice Vernon inconspicuously typing something into his phone.
☑ You always sit next to each other at meetings
Tumblr media
“Who’re you texting?”
“Hm?”
“Hellooo! Pay attention to me!”
There’s a guilty expression on your face as you finally glance up at Seungkwan. “Sorry,” you say meekly. “What were you asking?”
Vernon lets out a huff of laughter at Seungkwan’s side. “I’ll bet a dollar that it’s Lee Chan,” says Vernon.
Seungkwan responds with a roll of his eyes. “That’s a given.”
“Yah,” you begin to protest, ready to justify the way you’ve only been half-present throughout your entire lunch break.
Your attempt falls flat when your phone pings, and the screen lights up.
One (1) new text from Channie. 🦖LOLOL I have the perfect reel for this!! Wait a minute~~ 💖💙
Seungkwan scoffs. Vernon snickers.
Your eye twitches, and you shoot back a text underneath the table in a bid to avoid your friends’ teasing.
☑ You message each other all day long
Tumblr media
It’s hard not to laugh when Chan is looking at you like that.
Despite the fact that there’s a whole brainstorming session going on— preparation for the company’s next fundraising event— the two of you can’t help your silent communication.
Especially when Soonyoung starts running his mouth about the fundraiser potentially being tiger-themed.
One glance is all it takes. Chan’s lips are drawn into a thin line, and you know he’s also trying his darndest not to laugh. It’s a mammoth effort to hold back yourself, but you manage— not wanting to suffer from your eccentric boss’ line of questioning.
It’s all free game once the session ends, though.
You make a beeline for Chan. He takes one look at your quirked lip before jerking his head towards the door, urging the two of you to have this discussion somewhere you won’t be lynched.
Still, you and Chan can barely resist your peals of laughter as you leave the meeting room with your heads bowed together. Vernon watches with bemusement as the two of you trade incoherent mumblings about Tigger and Pompompurin.
Not that Vernon has any idea what those have to do with anything.
☑ You exchange knowing glances from across the room ☑ You share inside jokes about work and life
Tumblr media
“Hey, Lee Chan, where’s your work wife?”
Chan doesn’t miss a beat. “She’s in a meeting with finance,” he answers without even looking up from his keyboard.
A corner of Vernon’s lip twitches upward. Aha.
Chan seems to pick up on Vernon’s smug silence. The younger boy’s head snaps up, his expression quickly becoming guarded. “Not my work wife,” Chan sputters. “Just— I knew where she was, okay?”
“Riiight.”
There’s a redness in the tips of Chan’s ears as he goes back to the Google Doc he’d been slaving away on. Vernon doesn’t say anything more, but he does feign like he’s texting someone instead of adding to his ever-growing list.
☑ Your other colleagues wonder where the other’s at when you’re not together
Tumblr media
It’s a bit of an epilogue in its own right, how Chan is the one to know why you’re out for the morning.
The CEO had asked it mostly as a rhetorical question— has anyone seen her?— but Chan’s easy answer has the meeting coming to a stuttering halt.
“She got stuck at her dentist’s appointment,” he says.
Several pairs of eyes turn to Chan. The look on his face is comically caught.
He fumbles for his phone and waves it around awkwardly. “We were texting,” he adds hastily. “That’s why I know.”
How that was supposed to help Chan’s case, Vernon has no idea.
“Well, tell her that we hope she gets better soon,” the CEO says coolly. A corner of her lip is upturned, like she’s finding this entire interaction a little too amusing.
Chan manages a mumbled “Will do.”
The meeting pushes through. Vernon watches Chan from the corner of his eye. Aside from looking absolutely mortified, there’s just a bit of dullness to the latter’s demeanor. A slower uptake, a dimmer grin.
Gee, Vernon muses as he types away on his laptop. Wonder why.
☑ You’re kind of bummed when they’re out of office ☑ You cover for each other when one is MIA
Tumblr media
Vernon’s running list is a fun little gig, but it all comes to head on the evening of the company’s monthly night out.
The table at the speakeasy is full of boisterous laughter and greasy finger food. Everyone’s in high spirits for the upcoming weekend, and Vernon has to hold back on teasing those who he thinks are having just a little too much fun.
You and Chan have spent much of the evening acting like you’re in your own world. Sure, you’re not touching each other— this is technically a work event, after all— but you’ve shared laughter and whispers throughout the night that nobody else is privy to.
And, alright, fine. Maybe your knees knock into each other more often than not. Maybe Chan puts a hand over your ear whenever he wants to point something out, and maybe you lean in just a little more than necessary.
It’s obvious to anybody with two eyes that you two are fond of each other. That much is certain.
That’s what gives Vernon the boost of confidence to play wingman by the end of the night.
“You know,” he says coolly as your group spills out onto the sidewalk. “I think the two of you live in the same neighborhood.”
What Vernon is scheming is plain as day to you. You narrow your eyes at him, but he’s undeterred. He only smiles at you and Chan like the menace that he is.
Chan, for his part, raises his eyebrows ever so slightly. He glances at you with a quizzical expression.
“You’ve never mentioned that.” He raises his hand to his chest, as if feigning hurt at being kept in the dark.
A snort of laughter escapes you. “Didn’t feel like it was particularly important information,” you say dryly.
“Of course it’s important!” Chan’s always been a little louder when he’s drunk, so his voice raises an octave or two. “‘Cause that means we can carpool together, or, like, y’know—”
Vernon interrupts with a sage, “You can probably book the same cab for tonight, actually. Make it a double stop.”
Chan’s face lights up. “Great idea, man!”
Before you can protest, Chan is already whipping out his phone to pull up his ride-hailing app. This is not a battle that you’re going to win.
All the while, Vernon grins triumphantly.
☑ You go home together after happy hour
Tumblr media
“Can we—”
“Shhh. No, not yet.”
“But nobody’s looking!”
“Wait until we’ve rounded the corner, idiot—”
And so he does.
But the moment the corner has been rounded, Chan is sagging against your side like he’s wanted to the entire night. “Oh, thank God,” your boyfriend sighs. “I didn’t think I’d survive another minute without touching you.”
You can’t help the giggle that escapes you. The feeling is mutual, though, so you reach out to rest your hand on his knee.
“Commendable self-control tonight,” you note. “All the whispering was a little too obvious, though.”
Chan huffs in protest, but the sound loses its edge as he cuddles up to you in the back of the cab. “No one suspects us. It’s just Vernon,” he complains.
“And Seungkwan,” you say. “And Jeonghan, and Minghao, and Wonwoo—”
Your boyfriend gives a dismissive wave of his hand. “Doesn’t matter.” His hand rests on top of yours, just barely resisting the urge to intertwine your fingers. “They don’t know a thing about us, sweets.”
The smile threatening to fill your face finally breaks. When you laugh, your shoulders shake against Chan’s body. You’re not sure if he’s entirely right— you know of Vernon’s whole iPhone note, after all— but you’re willing to indulge your boyfriend if it makes him happy.
“Yeah,” you concede. “They don’t know a thing.”

Advanced SAS Programming Techniques: Tips to Optimize Your Code and Workflow
In today’s data-driven world, SAS programming continues to play a critical role in analytics, data management, and business intelligence. While many professionals become comfortable with basic data handling and procedures, the true value of SAS lies in mastering advanced techniques that enhance both performance and efficiency.
If you're a data analyst, statistician, or programmer looking to level up your SAS programming skills, this guide will walk you through key tips and strategies to write better, faster, and cleaner code.
1. Why Advanced SAS Programming Matters
Basic SAS skills will help you clean, process, and analyze data. But advanced SAS programming is where productivity, scalability, and automation begin to shine. In fast-paced environments like clinical trials, finance, or e-commerce analytics, optimized SAS code can save hours of manual effort and significantly reduce errors.
Moreover, as datasets grow in size and complexity, writing efficient and scalable code becomes essential to avoid memory issues and long run times.
2. Use Macros to Automate and Reuse Code
One of the most powerful features in SAS is its macro language. Macros allow you to automate repetitive tasks, simplify your programs, and make your code easier to maintain.
By using macro variables and macro programs, you can dynamically generate code based on different input parameters. This not only saves time but also reduces the risk of manual coding errors.
For example, if you're running the same analysis for different regions or time periods, you can use a macro to loop through those values instead of writing separate blocks of code.
3. Efficient Data Step Programming
The DATA step is the backbone of most SAS programming workflows. To write efficient DATA steps, consider the following best practices:
Keep only the variables you need using the KEEP or DROP statements.
Read only necessary observations using conditional logic.
Use IF-THEN/ELSE efficiently to reduce the number of comparisons.
Minimize sorting operations by organizing your data early.
Every unnecessary line of code adds processing time, especially when you're working with millions of rows. Clean, purposeful DATA steps lead to faster execution and easier debugging.
4. Leverage PROC SQL for Flexible Data Manipulation
While the DATA step is excellent for row-by-row operations, PROC SQL is your best friend for more complex joins and aggregations. It allows you to:
Join multiple datasets without pre-sorting.
Perform subqueries and advanced filtering.
Aggregate data in a concise way.
Integrating PROC SQL into your workflow not only increases flexibility but also helps when transitioning between SAS and other SQL-based platforms.
5. Profiling and Debugging with the Log
Many programmers overlook the power of the SAS Log. This tool gives detailed information about data step processing, including the number of observations read, written, and the amount of time taken.
Learning how to read and interpret the log efficiently helps in identifying bottlenecks and bugs. Use options like OPTIONS MPRINT, MLOGIC, and SYMBOLGEN for debugging macro code and trace the flow of your program.
6. Indexing and Hash Objects
When working with large datasets, performance can be greatly improved using indexing and hash tables.
Indexing helps SAS find and retrieve data faster during BY or WHERE operations.
Hash objects are in-memory lookup tables that offer high-speed matching and merging without sorting, ideal for real-time data operations.
These features are more advanced but worth learning for performance-heavy tasks.
7. Modular Programming for Maintainability
Breaking your code into modular, reusable components is a best practice in any language, and SAS is no exception. Use INCLUDE files or macros to structure your programs logically.
This makes the code easier to understand and enables team collaboration. When multiple people are working on the same project, a well-organized codebase saves time and reduces errors.
youtube
8. Documenting Your Code
Good programmers write code that others can understand. Great programmers write code that they themselves can understand a year later. Use comments to explain:
Why certain logic is used
How parameters are defined
The purpose of a macro or subroutine
It’s not about writing more—it’s about writing smarter.
9. Continuous Learning and Community Engagement
The SAS community is active and supportive. Explore the SAS blogs, attend webinars, and participate in SAS user groups. Keeping up with updates, new procedures, and best practices ensures your SAS programming skills stay relevant.

The Nanny Conundrum~A Tommy Shelby Smut
Tumblr media
Pairing: Tommy Shelby x Nanny!Reader (3rd person)
Warnings: Male masterbation, voyeurism. Meant to be kind of funny. A little cringe and embarrassing.
Prompt 93
Word Count: 2,791
Summary: Tommy Shelby just got a new nanny for Charlie. She's a sweet, delicate girl, but learns quite a thing or two about men while hiding for a game of hide n seek.
Please enjoy. I appreciate reblogs and comments. Likes are kind and thoughtful, and I appreciate you reading my work. However, reblogs really help writers out. So, please, considering rebloging.
Tumblr media
Tommy was only delicate and proper with a select few people, and she was one of them, but he couldn’t help himself. Not even Satan himself could give her a rough handling. She was delicate looking, sounding, and acting. Like a daisy, really. And on top of it, she was so, so good with Charlie. Just two years old, losing his mother a few short months before. He was hesitant at first, not wanting to go through a whole hiring process. And so, he convinced Mary and Francis to take on the extra duty. Though, two aging women, their patience was waning. Enough was enough, Mr. Shelby was getting a nanny for the poor boy.
It was difficult for Mr. Shelby to find employees as many were aware of his antics. There were a few applicants…none did anything for him. They were old. Had no energy with a sharp tongue. Mr. Shelby didn’t want anyone with a sharp tongue. Then there was a quiet time with weeks in between; no applicants had walked through the door.
Until one day, someone did. It was a Sunday, too. Which got a work motivated man like himself excited. Mary had knocked on the door and he grumbled for her to enter. Behind her was a girl, not too tall and with a young face. He couldn’t make out her age, but her cheeks were round and blushed with youth. He noticed how when she smiled, her eyes would as well and she’d let out this delicate laugh.
It was right then that he knew. Unlike the others, he immediately slid back his chair and stood, straightening his blue white lined vest. Mary was surprised at the soft smile that tugged at his usually stiff lips. His stress lines seemed to ease, but most of all he turned gentle. Mary watched aghast how he waltzed around his mahogany desk and rushed over to her. Never had he ever shook a woman’s hand as such; both hands gently holding her right. “I’m Mr. Shelby,” he said, and Mary couldn’t take anymore. She gave her employer a pursed look, brow raised, and he mouthed what.
“I will take my leave, Mr. Shelby,” she said. “I must go to the kitchens and yell at the staff.” The young girl frowned a bit and turned to watch the woman leave.
“Is she alright?” she asked, turning her attention back to the man who was still holding her hand.
He was quick to nod and offer a smile. “Yes, yes! She’s fine. Don’t worry about her, eh? I think all women get a certain edge to them when they hit about seventy-”
“And men,” she giggled, putting a finger out.
Kindly, he chuckled back. “I think we develop that a bit younger. Anyway! Come! Take a seat, eh?” He walked her over to the desk, hand resting politely on her mid-back. “So, are you looking for a nanny position?” They sat across from one another and she handed over CV paperclipped together. His eyes quickly scanned it, grinning. “Nanny program in London, worked for the same family for 2 years, twenty years old, born in Boston to English parents, and the second oldest of six children.” He put it down and pushed it over to her. “You understand this is a live in position, love?” Love. A red rosy tint fell on her face and she had to look away shyly. She could not lie. Of course, Mr. Shelby was a handsome man smooth with his words. “You’d be here Monday to Sunday. Of course, you will have free time and vacation time. Sundays off.”
“The pay?” she asked. “A family in London has offered me six pounds.”
Six bloody fuckin’ pounds, Mr. Shelby thought to himself, a bit stunted. But nonetheless, he said, “I can offer ten, plus you’ll have a room, food, and free roam of the property. I’ll allow leave for all holidays, Sunday’s off, and early leave on Wednesdays. You’ll be allowed three sick days a calendar year-”
“I can start today,” she said, abruptly, far too eager to work for him. The benefits were like nothing she’d even been offered. He paused, smile dropping a bit, not used to people being so…interested. She coughed a bit and fixed herself in the chair. “Sorry,” she said, clearing her throat. “I can start today. If you would have me, of course.”
He nodded, “not today. Tomorrow. You’ll start tomorrow.”
Everyone liked her. She was like a breath of fresh air. A positive influence on everyone. Francis and Mary seemed more at ease and talked with less grouch. The kitchen danced when she waltzed in. The other maids enjoyed how she was incredibly courteous of the messes Charlie would make. Even John and Arthur started to look forward to coming to Arrow house. Despite their miserable to be around brother who did nothing, but demand this and that from them.
And Mr. Shelby, well...he found himself smiling a tad more when he saw her with Charlie.
She was a wonderful nanny. On top of the normal tasks, she actually played with Charlie and helped with his coloring and motor tasks. She’d sing to him and dance with him. And unlike most girls her age, she wasn’t opposed to rolling around in the grass with him. They’d sleep in the grass and dance in the rain with their shoes off. Charlie was in love with her! Mr. Shelby would watch from the window, feeling this pool of warmth within him when they’d run around in circles.
“Ah, look at her,” Francis sighed, putting the tea tray on his desk. “Her frocks are always stained with grass.”
Mr. Shelby flicked closed the blinds and sat at his desk, making up his tea with just a tad of sugar and milk. He enjoyed some honey as well those days. “It’ll rain soon, suppose they’ll come inside. She’s been reading to him a lot.”
Francis smiled. “Very good. Will you be heading to the stables? Should I prepare-”
“No, no,” he said. “I’m just going to enjoy my cuppa, eh? And you should take a rest.” A rest. That was also something new. Mr. Shelby was allowing staff to have much more rest since she came.
He finished his tea and went off to the stables when the two were coming in from their adventures from outside. After clean up time and a book, Charlie was still restless, wanting to run around and play. She pouted and poked his nose, “Charlie, I got a game for you!” His eyes widened and he giggled in excitement. She leaned in as if it was something special. “HIde n’ seek! I will hide. Okay? Has Charlie remembered his numbers?”
“One…two..three..eight…four…six…nine…five,” he counted off and she chuckled, telling him it was just fine enough. She picked him up and placed him facing the wall, explaining that he had to count to ten slowly and not move.
“I will hide somewhere, Charlie, on the first floor, okay?” she smiled, ruffling his hair before skipping out. She giggled as she heard his cute counting before opening and closing each door, unsure of where to hide before he stopped counting. She slipped into Mr. Shelby’s office, not seeing the harm when he wasn’t around. Under the desk, she crammed herself in a ball and waited.
She heard Charlie call for her in a laugh, running around the hallway. She could tell that he checked the bathroom first then her room before going back to his room. She waited and waited before the office door opened, and she grinned, getting ready to say you win! When Mr. Shelby coughed. Wincing, she wondered if she should climb out and explain that they were playing hide and seek or wait for him to leave, but to her annoyance, he took a seat at his desk. At first, he fumbled around with some papers before cursing under his breath, seeming frustrated. She was sucking in her lips to hold back any loud breathing. But what he did next was…shocking. There were no other words to explain it. Shocking. To her, at least. A young twenty year old girl who surprisingly lived a very modest and conservative life. Never had she even held hands with a boy, nevermind witness what she was about to witness. His hands went to his belt clasp and fumbled with the golden hoop before easily undoing his trousers. Peeking out was a pair of men’s white underwear. Maybe he’s just getting comfortable, she told herself, but was quickly proven wrong when he let out a soft groan and slipped under the waistband of his underwear. She watched, frozen. He rubbed himself a bit under his underwear, grinding his hips up at his hand. Soft groans and eager curses filled the room in a hushed manner. As if he was ashamed of doing such a thing in his own home. It was all new to her, and she watched equally horrified and curious while kicking herself for being so stupid. A million hiding spots and she chose the very one he had to wank in. Peculiarly, a small wet spot formed where the tip was. Stupidly, she wanted to just reach up and touch it, but the thought lodged to the back of her head when he pulled it out. There was nothing she could compare it to, being the first cock she’d ever seen. But her cunt ached in an almost fear-like response seeing the shape and length. The tip was glistening with a sticky substance that he didn’t hesitate rubbing his thumb against. “Fuck,” he let out, leaning back slightly. Between his thumb and index, he rubbed it before giving his cock three good tugs. How it dripped out in a long string before pooling a little tiny dot onto the floor next to her. Swallowing, she looked down at it…just a little dab. A droplet. For a split second, she considered touching it. Mimicking how he rolled it between his fingers just to see what it felt like. But she couldn’t do it. It felt grotesque…dirty. Sinister? That’s when she heard him spit on his hand, drawing her attention from the precum and back to his twitching cock. His spit ran down the shaft, wetting the chair.
“Oh, fuck,” he grunted, his hand wrapping around himself, twisting around. He moved slowly up and down, teasing the sensation. It’d been such a long time since he last rubbed one out. Though loving a good fuck, self pleasure was never something he needed to ease an urge. But he felt it that day. His cock consistently throbbed at the seams of his trousers. Not even a smoke and a drink calmed him. And so, he resorted to a good old school wank. Admittedly, it was quite nice. Alone in his element, just feeling himself. “Shit.” His started to roll upward, fucking his hand.
Alone…except for the sweet nanny under his desk, trapped in quite a predicament she wasn’t quite sure she liked. His hand started to move a bit faster with a better rhythm. He was flowing a stream of grunts, curses, groans, moans, and inaudible sentences. “Baby,” he cried, head rolled back, eyes closed. “Fuck me, c’mon-shit!” He hummed, running a hand over his face. She swallowed and panicked that maybe he knew she was there. Did he? Who was he talking to? But she didn’t move. She hardly even breathed scared he’d hear her. “Mmmmhm.” Pausing, he spit on his hand again before rubbing it all over. Just as he resumed his speed, he said something she could hardly believe. Her name. Followed by a, “just like that…good fuckin’ girl.” In shock, her eyes widened and her hands instantly covered her mouth. “Bounce up and down, right on my cock. Ride my fuckin’ cock!” His breaths became jagged while his hips twitched and jolted. He was close…so fucking close.
Meanwhile, the poor girl tried to block it out. But how could she? So close to a man jerking his cock, calling her name. Her fucking name? Imagining her bouncing on it. She couldn’t help, but wonder if this was his first time thinking of her like this. She hated to admit it, but her thighs were struggling to stay still. So, so tempted to rub them together to ease a surprise heat growing between her legs. “That’s good, baby, keep doing that….Ugh! Fuck!” He paused, edging himself. She noticed when he stopped, his hands clenched around it harder, shaking. Then he slowly went back to tugging and rubbing, easing back into the lost rhythm. “I bet you are so fuckin’ tight.” One hand slowly went between her legs to cup her aching pussy as she suppressed a whine. “Fuck, I want to corrupt that little fuckin’ cunt….Make you into a dirty little fuckin’ slut. My dirty slut…fuck!” He jolted upward, other hand gripping a chair arm before easing back into speed.
Make you into a dirty little fuckin’ slut. My dirty slut. Those words imprinted themselves in her head. His words were disgusting, filthy, and humiliating, but so fucking erotic. His possessiveness was like honey. It took so much effort to not ease her curiosities and reach her hand up to touch his cock. So, she had to just watch. Watching was so hot, but so torturous. When he started to get sloppy with his movements, she prepared for him to stop again, but he didn’t. “F-fuck!” He cried out, tugging one last time before a stream of white came from his cock. She was expecting it to be like the sticky clear mess, but no, his cum shot.
In fact, it shot at her…on her face. Frozen, feeling the warmth that landed over her eyelids and dripped down her face and over her lips. Appalled and embarrassed, how was she going to face him after that? With his excrement painting her face. He let out one last, “fuck,” before tiredly tucking himself away and buckling his belt. He took the handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his hands. Sliding back in his chair and standing, she was sure that he was going to leave, but no. He kneeled down to clean up wherever the cum landed, coming face to face with her…wearing it.
Never had he ever been so mortified, looking at the girl who seemed as if she saw death. His cum was right there…teasing at her lips. His nanny….Had she watched the whole thing? Heard every word? Of course. She had to. He swallowed, and said, “Um…this isn’t a great napping spot-”
“Mr. Shelby,” she stuttered out, tongue darting out almost instinctively, accidentally swiping the cum off. She winced as it tasted salty. His eyes flickered down to her quivering lips, widening. There was a bit of silence before she continued. “I was playing hide n seek-”
“In my office?” he asked, not exactly mad. More stunned and quiet than anything. He felt as if he was a young man again, ashamed of rubbing one out.
“I’m competitive. I didn’t think he’d look in here,” she responded with the same tone. He nodded slowly, reaching out to clean her face, but she took the rag and did it herself before going to hand it back.
“Keep it,” he said, slowly standing and grabbing for his whiskey. He didn’t even bother pouring it in a glass as he swigged it from the bottle. She crawled out from under the desk watching him gulp it like water. “Fuckin’ ‘ell,” he cursed, putting it down and turning to her. “Did you-”
“Yes,” she said before he could finish the quest. Nervously, she averted her attention off to the side, playing with her dress. His eyes skimmed over her, heart rate through the roof. His head was swarming with a whole bunch of conflictions. “Should I pack my things?” Mr. Shelby licked at his bottom lip and itched the arch of his nose. “Um…well, I think it is alright. You’re not the first woman to look at it. Probably not the last unless I drop dead right now…which is fuckin’ possible.” She bowed and tried to slowly back away when he looked over at her. “C’mere. I’m not done with you. As much as I’d like to jump out this fuckin’ window, you’re still my employee and you were in my office without permission. Why don’t you take a seat-no, no. Right here.” She nervously looked at where his hand was pointing. It was the desk. “C’mere,” he patted. “Sit on the desk like a good girl.” The words played back in her head and she did so…like a fuckin’ good girl.

SSR Jamil Viper - Nightmare Suit Vignette
”From all the children to the witches flying through the sky”
Tumblr media
[Halloween Town – Dr. Finkelstein's Lab]
Jamil: Sally-san, I've made a dish sample. Could I ask you to taste test it?
Sally: Of course, I don't mind at all. In fact, I was waiting for you to say something, since it had been smelling good for some time now…
Jamil: Is that so. Well, I do hope it suits your taste… Try it with this sauce here.
Sally: There are a lot of finely chopped ingredients in this sauce. I wonder how it will taste.
Sally: …Oh, this is delicious! You really brought forth the flavor of the herbs.
Jamil: That's right. Do you think the others in Halloween Town will like it?
Sally: I know I like it. But hm… I think the folks in this town would prefer it to be a little more acidic.
Jamil: A little more acidic, I see. Should I add more vinegar, or add fruit to the sauce…?
Sally: There was that one plant with the huge leaves, remember? What if you were to chop up the stem and cook it together?
Jamil: Huge leaves…? I think I know which ones you're talking about, but just in case, can you point out…
???: Sally, help me out here. At this rate, I'll lose my head.
Sally: Jack…! You look so troubled. What's going on?
Jack Skellington: No matter how much I think about it, I can't figure it out, so I feel like I'm going crazy. I need your advice.
Jamil: …Looks as though this is a serious matter. I'll leave you two be.
Jamil: Now that I have received Sally's thoughts, I'll proceed with fixing the dishes. The two of you should have a good talk together…
Sally/Jack Skellington: WAIT!!
Jamil: Eh?
Jack Skellington: I'd like you to listen to what I have to say too, Jamil-kun. I need to figure out a way out of this funk.
Sally: I'd like to ask your help as well. There's no way we can leave Jack like this. Please, help him.
Jamil: …O-Okay, then. If both of you are going to insist like that, I'll join in.
Jamil: So, what's the issue you need help with?
Jack Skellington: It's about the Halloween preparations. I heard that in your world, you guys do some sort of "illumination" event.
Jack Skellington: So I had this thought… What if the Jack-o'-Lanterns light up right as I appear?
Jack Skellington: Wouldn’t it be grand if the lanterns lit up one by one as I walk forward!?
Jack Skellington: …Only, I just can't figure out how to get the timing of everything being lit up right.
Jamil: Wait, so you've already decided to do it!? Shouldn't you determine whether it's actually feasible, first…?
Sally: This is how Jack always works. Once he comes up with something, he won't back down.
Jack Skellington: Sally, Jamil-kun. Please, give me some good ideas!
Sally/Jamil: …...
Jamil: Well… An illumination would definitely liven things up.
Jamil: Back in our world, we have certain programming…
Jamil: We generally have people with specialized knowledge use specific tech to control that sort of illumination.
Jack Skellington: Well, that's wonderfully useful to know. Is that something we would be able to do, as well?
Jamil: I wouldn't really know how to do it. Even in our world, there are only a handful of people who would be able to pull it off.
Jack Skellington: Hmm… I wonder if there's any way we can make it happen.
Jamil: Right… What if you were to ask Dr. Finkelstein?
Jamil: I hear he's an excellent scientist. He may come up with a good answer.
Jack Skellington: I see, you're right! I wonder if he's at home right now.
Sally: No, he's out, helping with preparations. I think he should be in the town center…
Jack Skellington: Alright. Well then, I'll head off to find him!
Jamil: I do hope you find a solution. And with that, I'll go back to finishing my work.
Jack Skellington: What are you talking about, Jamil-kun! You're coming with me!
Jack Skellington: I have no knowledge of how things work in your world. I need you to explain things to the Doctor for me!
Jamil: No, wait, I need to finish preparing the food… Sally-san, can't you back me up here?!
Sally: Once Jack starts saying something, he doesn't listen to anything else.
Sally: I'll let Trey-kun and the others know, so… Please take care of Jack for me.
Jack Skellington: Thanks, Sally. Okay, now that that's settled, let's go right now!
Jack Skellington: COME, COME, HURRY, HURRY!
Jamil: Fine. I understand, I'll join you. …Why am I always resigned to the same sort of role wherever I go?
Tumblr media
[Halloween Town – Center]
Jack Skellington: Alright, we made it to the town center. The Doctor should be setting the decorations up around here somewhere.
[nyoom!]
Jamil: !! Jack-san, stand back!
[thud! roll, roll…]
Jamil: Why did half a pumpkin come flying at us!?
Jamil: Oh, it's been sliced so beautifully… Wait, I mean, what just happened?
Halloween Town Resident: Huh? Oh hey, it's Jack and Jamil! You guys just showed up out of the blue, that surprised us!
Jamil: We should be the ones saying that! Was it you who threw that pumpkin at us?
Halloween Town Resident: No, not at all! We didn't do anything! It was all because of this big guy slicing that pumpkin in two.
Jamil: This big guy?
Jamil: Are you talking about this thing with the huge cutter? It just looks like it's a sharp blade held between two long poles.
Jamil: They're using something this big just to slice pumpkins in half? Or maybe… nah, it can't be.
Jack Skellington: Oh, is this your first time seeing something like this? Then, I bet you don't know about this huge box with all these spikes inside.
Jamil: This big box…? I'm afraid I don't. What is it used for?
Vampire: It's to squeeze the life out of… fresh juice! Heeheehee!
Jamil: Ach! He just popped out of nowhere, said his piece and then left again…
Jamil: But seriously, juice? I feel like this would be pretty difficult to use to squeeze fruits… I think I won't think further about it.
???: Ah, Jack-san. So, you were over here. I've come to collect you.
Jamil: Jade? What do you mean collect him?
Jade: As soon as he heard of the concept of illumination, he said, "This won't be enough!" and ran off so forlornly…
Jade: And so, were you able to concoct some brilliant idea, Jack-san?
Jack Skellington: Well, that's… Not yet. I haven't come across something that just screams "This is it!" yet.
Jade: If you find yourself in a quandary, please don't feel the need to keep it bottled up inside yourself. Both I and Azul would be happy to be of help.
Jamil: Hey, don't try to peddle your business here of all places. Seriously, you Octavinelle folk are always on the lookout for opportunity.
Jamil: We're actually searching for Dr. Finkelstein to ask for his advice. Have you seen him at all?
Jade: I'm afraid I haven't. Vil-san should be helping out nearby, perhaps you could ask him?
Jamil: Vil-senpai…? Oh, that might work! Jack-san, what if we were to ask Vil-san for his thoughts?
Jamil: He's an actor… He has experience in working on projects that garner a lot of attention, so he may be helpful for not only the illumination, but also on various ways to implement it.
Jack Skellington: Is that right? I might be able to really learn something by talking to him. Let's head over to Vil-kun right away!
Tumblr media
Jamil: Vil-senpai, thanks for taking the time. We were hoping to get your take on something for Halloween…
Jamil: Jack-san is saying that he'd like to appear before everyone in a very flashy manner, with a resounding illumination.
Vil: The most important scene to prepare in any production is when the main character appears, yes. I support your plan to enhance that moment. However…
Vil: Halloween Town doesn't have any sort of specialized equipment of that sort… I feel as though it would be difficult to set up some elaborate lighting scheme as of right now.
Malleus: There's no need to use any human-made equipment. I can enhance Skellington's appearance with my magic.
Jamil: Right, using this guy was also an option, hm.
Malleus: Would you be wreathed in light? Shall we raise fireworks into the sky? Ah, or perhaps we could make it snow.
Jack Skellington: Oooh…! That's amazing, Malleus-kun! I bet you could even make it rain bugs to frighten every…
Vil/Jamil: ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vil: You want to rain down bugs? Absurd! That idea is the worst thing I've ever heard.
Jamil: YEAH! …Ahem. Pardon my outburst.
Jamil: Jack-san, you're the Pumpkin King. Should you not rely on your own strengths to give your townsfolk a scare, instead of using bugs?
Jamil: Even if we were to secure Malleus-senpai's cooperation… This is the only time we'll be able to help you with this, Jack-san.
Jamil: Next time, you'll have to bring about Halloween by yourselves, just like your previous years.
Jamil: If we were to implement a method that can even be executed by the others in this town, then it can be utilized for future years down the road.
Jack Skellington: Jamil-kun… You're an inspiration! You were not only thinking of this Halloween, but for the next ones, too.
Jack Skellington: I get it. I won't rely on magic or bugs. Let's think of something that all of us Halloween Town residents can do.
Malleus: Hm… It seems I am unneeded. Call me if you change your mind.
[Malleus leaves]
Jade: Oh, my… Is he sulking, now?
Vil: He isn't that much of a child… I'm sure. Come now, let's get this discussion started.
Jamil: So, we need to come up with a method to give him a grand appearance without any specialized equipment, or using magic, huh…
Vil: Yes… This may be a cliché, but what about an entrance while riding something?
Vil: The higher up one is, the easier it would be to garner the attention of others as opposed to simply walking. We can even make sure the spotlight is on one focal point.
Jade: That's a good idea. Just like how the tales of the mermaid princess even tell of how her father, the king, would appear before everyone on a chariot pulled by dolphins.
Jamil: I actually was reminded of the legend of the princess of the oasis that's prevalent in the Scalding Sands.
Jamil: With golden camels, peacocks, and various other animals and dancers in tow…
Jamil: A young man presented himself before her in an extravagant parade.
Jamil: Hmm, a parade…
Jamil: Jack-san, I've thought of something good.
Tumblr media
[Halloween Town – Center]
Jamil: Jack-san, I've thought of something good.
Jack Skellington: I see that gleam in your eye… You look pretty proud of yourself. What kind of plan do you have up your sleeve?
Jamil: We should throw a parade.
Jade: A parade?
Jade: Back at Night Raven College… At our school, we tend to have one as a finale on Halloween.
Jamil: That's right. We tend to have one at the start of our feasts in Scarabia, as well. …More often than not.
Vil: A parade would definitely be grand and lively. It's not a bad idea to keep the audience's attention.
Vil: However, wouldn't we require a large number of people to put on a parade?
Vil: Do you intend on having the townsfolk learn how to parade march?
Jamil: Not at all. The only one who will be in the parade will be Jack-san.
Jack Skellington: Just me?
Jamil: Ah, well, of course, we'll still need all hands on deck to help…
Jamil: All the townsfolk are looking forward to seeing how you'll arrive on Halloween day.
Jamil: We couldn't possibly ask them to march behind you in the parade!
Jamil: Instead, we need to make sure your gallant appearance is firmly burned into their mind.
Jack Skellington: You're right. It's just like you say, Jamil-kun! I want all my fellow residents to see me clearly.
Jamil: And so, that's where Vil-senpai's earlier idea comes into play.
Jack Skellington: His earlier idea…? Oh, you mean where I arrive while riding something.
Jack Skellington: Jade-kun mentioned the story with the dolphin pulling the chariot. And what was it Jamil-kun said again…?
Jamil: Ah, I hadn't actually mentioned what he rode, right. That young man presented himself riding in on the back of an elephant…
Jack Skellington: An "elephant"? We don't have such a creature in Halloween Town.
Jamil: An elephant is an extremely large animal with a long nose, magnificent tusks, and large ears.
Jack Skellington: I can just imagine something utterly frightful just from that description. I'm getting chills.
Jade: Well, we can't have that. I suppose we should hurry and find an elephant and bring it here to Halloween Town as soon as possible, then!
Jamil: Hey, don't just throw that out there!
Jade: What do you mean? I am simply attempting to accommodate Jack-san's request.
Vil: Jamil's doing all he can to wrap this up quickly, don't cause any unnecessary issues.
Jade: But it would be no fun if the plan were to go off so smoothly without a hitch.
Jamil: It's not like someone like you from Octavinelle would do something without taking a fee, anyway. So, shut up and just let me deal with this!
Jack Skellington: Hey, what are the three of you whispering about over there?
Jamil: We were simply discussing his idea on bringing an elephant into town.
Jamil: As a concept, I don't think it's terrible. However…
Jack Skellington: Oh, is there something problematic about it?
Jamil: Jack-san, you said that you'd want everyone to be able to see you clearly.
Jamil: But if you were to ride on the back of a large elephant…
Jamil: Wouldn't there be people who wouldn't be able to see your expressions, let alone your silhouette?
Jamil: And we want everyone from those brats― I mean from all the children to the witches flying through the sky to see you!
Jack Skellington: Oh no. So if I do that, not everyone will be able to enjoy themselves…
Jack Skellington: I would have loved to have seen an elephant, myself… But I suppose we should leave that for another time.
Jack Skellington: Ahhh, we've come full circle… Urgh… What should I do?
Jamil: THUS!! What if you were to ride a horse?
Jamil: There are many scenes in movies and fairy tales in which a king would appear before his people while riding a horse. Right, Vil-senpai?
Vil: That's true, it does tend to give them a heroic aura. For this production, it doesn't have to be a real one. We only need to make it look just as striking.
Jack Skellington: A horse… A horse, huh! Yeah, that sounds perfect. Now it feels like the last piece of the puzzle just clicked into place!
Jack Skellington: Oh, what if we were to gather up some straw to make a horse? I want to make it look terrifying to perfectly suit the King of Halloween.
Jamil: You want to make a straw horse? That's definitely not something I've ever seen back in my world. What a brilliant idea, Jack-san.
Jamil: Ah, lovely, I'm glad that we've assuaged your worries. I'm looking forward to Halloween day!
Jade: It seems as though everything has wrapped up without any further issues. Although, I can't help but feel a little disappointed…
Jade: You were able to bring some almost impossible request back into the realm of feasibility without rejecting it outright…
Jade: Heh, if anyone could have done it, it would've been you, Jamil-san. I guess it's to be expected… since you're so experienced in dealing with unreasonable behavior.
Vil: Indeed. On top of that, he even found a way to utilize my strengths… Looks like everything was settled thanks to your careful thinking.
???: Jack, Jamil-kun!
Jamil: Sally-san, what are you doing here?
Sally: You didn't come back, so I started to get worried. Have you all decided how Halloween will be kicked off yet?
Jack Skellington: Yeah! Jamil-kun gave us a spectacular idea.
Sally: Well, now...! I'm so happy to see a huge smile on your face, Jack. It's all thanks to Jamil, I'm sure.
Sally: I don't know if me or the other townsfolk would've been able to clear up his worries.
Sally: I only wish Jamil-kun could stay in this town forever…
Jack Skellington: That's a great idea! You should stay here in Halloween Town and help us prepare for Halloween forever.
Jamil: I am beyond honored to have such high praise from the both of you.
Sally/Jack Skellington: So, then…!
Jamil: I appreciate your invitation, but I'll have to respectfully decline.
Jamil: Back home, there are many things that would fall apart without my assistance… I worry for the people I left behind.
Jack Skellington: I see… Well, that's a shame. You truly are a prudent guy. I totally understand why so many rely on you.
Jamil: Thank you.
Jamil: While I'm here… No, while we're here we'll make sure this Halloween will go smoothly.
Jamil: Let's make this Halloween the most enjoyable and scariest one yet.

Watching From the Tower - Part 1 (Bucky/F Reader)
Tumblr media
Your code name is Scout and your job was easy. You worked the cyber side of things for the New Avengers. You directed them where to go with your hacking skills, and you are the eyes in the sky. There was just one problem... you don't like leaving the tower. You are not a complete agoraphobe, but you are pretty close. Leaving makes you feel so unsafe and people touching you, that's even worse. So, when James Buchanan Barnes the former 'Winter Soldier' tries to get you out for one mission, things got a little hectic after that.
Part 1: The team gets ready for a mission while you go to war with Bucky about leaving the Tower.
Tumblr media
Word Count: ~2.4k words.
Rating: M (Later parts will be marked 18+ for smut, but for now, it's okay.)
Pairings: Bucky/F!Reader (Non-descriptive, No Y/N) Squint for GhostWalker and Boblena (Platonic)
TW: Angst, Depression, mentions of past SA, phobias, Anxiety, MDNI for sexual content in later parts (Will be labeled).
Tumblr media
You’re pretty sure you are not really that much of a tech genius compared to the late great Tony Stark with all his fancy programs, but you make do. You’ve got it all under control so when you’re hired to not only be the girl that walks the team through every security measure and hacks into whatever network they need you to bypass on the job, you’re that person. Unfortunately, it comes with the not-so-welcome benefit of working under Valentina’s thumb.
How you can’t stand her, but you have to do what you have to do in order to pay on your student loans from college when you graduated over ten years ago. It’s not a bad job, but you end up in the crossfire anyway. You don’t know how you ended up here, you just did. Maybe it was fate, but here you are six months after the announcement for the New Avengers and you are working on Alexei's broken phone.
“It can’t be hard to fix phone.” You stop what you are doing with the soldering tool and look at him as he’s standing over your shoulder.
You sigh. “Alexei, if you would quit dropping it, this wouldn’t be an issue.” One more drop and it would be over with. No more phone for Alexei. “Go make yourself useful or something and I’ll let you know when it’s done.”
You’re in your little workshop down below the main hub where the team meets up. You have everything you need here and Val was able to provide everything you asked for on the promise that you had a place to keep it. No one else could get in there to do anything you didn’t approve of and when the Team had to go on missions? You were in the hot seat for comms and getting them home.
It was definitely a nice change of pace from working for her directly to working under Bucky’s command. That was the deal. You listened to Bucky, and Yelena too, since both of them seemed to be a sort of duo when it comes to giving orders.
“Okay, okay, I go find John and maybe he will spar with me.” Good riddance. You prefer to work alone.
“Great, I’ll bring this to you when I’m done.” You roll your eyes as he walks out of your workshop. “I can never catch a break.” The words slip out of your mouth as you go back to soldering the chip back into place on the phone. “One thing after another.”
Then your phone rings after five minutes of tinkering. Of course it would be him. He probably wants you to look into something or fix the AI that you’ve installed because it’s doing something stupid again. You aren’t Tony Stark so you can’t do everything like him.
“Yeah?” You put the phone between your ear and shoulder as you continue to work on Alexei’s phone.
“Be up here in ten. We’ve got a mission.” Bucky’s voice is serious which means your current plight has to be put on hold.
“Got any specifics?” You set aside your soldering tool before you move to your couch to grab your jacket and head out of the door.
“Just be here in ten.”
“I’ll be there in two.” You smirk as he scoffs over the phone and then hangs up. You know how to get on his nerves.
You make it up to the hub in two minutes exactly going by your watch. You grab your tablet as soon as you get to the Comms desk and you are good to go as Bucky makes his way over to you. Paying attention to him is not on your to do list because you know it annoys him. You swivel around in your chair just as Bob comes around the corner with a milkshake in one hand and a book in the other.
“Hey, Scout!” Bob is always excited to see you.
“Hey, Bob.” You give him a little wave and a smile before he continues to his little nook. He likes to listen in on the Comms when missions are going on, and sometimes he’s very helpful. Other times, he’s always doing something to keep his mind occupied.
You look at your ‘boss’ who’s looking at his own tablet with intensity before he hands it to you with that infamous scowl on his face. “What do you think?”
“It’s a building in Singapore.” Once again, another mission that has the team travelling outside of US borders for reasons. Bucky isn’t interested in completely following the government on this, but he always ends up strong-arming Val into submission. Yelena is also very good at blackmail. “With some of the most advanced cyber security that country has.” You flip through the files and realize that this is a Chinese operation. “Oh boy. Are we really going after them?”
“Yeah, they’ve taken some hostages from a bioengineering facility and apparently one of them is the inventor of this.” Bucky runs his finger across the screen to a machine that is capable of blasting cancer cells without harming the patient.
“Interesting.” You raise an eyebrow at the specs on the instrument. “No radiation needed, just a high powered laser that moves at a tenth of a tenth of a second, but why would the Chinese be interested in that?”
“I was hoping you can figure that out.” He looks at you with those blue eyes of his and even though you have this very interesting relationship of antagonization and fraternization going on, you cave.
“Yeah, maybe– but you guys have got to be careful. I don’t think going in uniform would be the best thing. This will definitely be breaking some international laws, especially with– well you know.”
“I do, and that is why you are coming with us this time.”
“And leave Bob by himself?” You don’t like leaving Bob by himself.
“Alexei is staying. It’s just Ava, you, Yelena, John, and me.”
“And what exactly will I be doing?” You stand up and put your hand on your hip.
Bucky sighs. “Playing a part.”
Oh that’s just great. “What part?”
“They are going to auction off the machine. We need to get our hands on it and also find a way to get the engineer out of their hands too.” There is no way you are going to be able to do this. You are an introvert that can’t even handle going to the grocery store for tampons. You barely like coming out of your workshop to work the missions and you were happy to keep to yourself.
“Bucky, I haven’t been out of here in three weeks and I am not the type of girl to dress up in public.”
“And you won’t be.” He reaffirms because he knows you don’t like leaving your rabbit hole. “You can do all of this from the hotel, right?”
“I can do it from here actually.” It was a blessing to be able to hack into any satellite in Earth’s orbit in order to crack a safe open in a place like Tokyo. You’ve done it before and that is what led to you standing right there with Bucky in front of you. “Bucky, please don’t make me go.” You tilt your head, pleading with your eyes. “Please?”
“Let Scout stay. This is not the first time she has done this from here.” Yelena says walking in suited up and ready to go. “Besides, she is safer here.”
“See? I’m safer here.” You see Bucky’s jaw clench when he knows he’s lost against you and Yelena.
“I say she stays too.” Ava appears out of nowhere like always and you smile at her for having your back.
“What is this? Women Unite?” You scowl at Walker’s words as he saunters in with his shield still bent in the shape of a taco. “I’m all for team building and all, but this isn’t it.” He scoffs before taking a seat on the couch and acting like he’s the best of the best. You see Bucky shake his head in disbelief.
“Okay, fine. You win.” The team leader caves and you sigh. “We’ll talk after the briefing.” Bucky holds his hand out for the tablet that belongs to him and you hand it over with a smirk on your face. You’ll rub this victory in later for sure.
“Thank you, Bucky.” You say as he turns away with this look in his eyes that does something to you.
You sit down in your chair with a huff as he starts going over the mission and each member’s role in it. As soon as each of the team members were given their objectives, they each came to you for the equipment they needed. Obviously the earpieces that you had built with unlimited range were handed out with each name on the case. They were discreet enough to hide in plain sight while in any situation. You could also communicate individually with any of them with the flick of a switch.
Bucky is the last one to come to you as everyone walks away to their personal lockers to gear up. You hand him the two most important devices of the operation because without them, you couldn’t do shit from where you were. It all depended on Bucky having them. One was a device that connected him to the satellite. You could hack anything within two miles of him with the Sentinel device and then the other one was for security.
“Come with me.” He doesn’t explain as he moves to his office on the other end of the room. You follow him like an obedient puppy this time, not really putting up a fight because he gives you that sincere look.
The moment you two are in there, he closes the door behind you and then moves to his own weapons cabinet to gear up. He wasn’t wearing anything other than the UnderArmor shirt that he normally puts on underneath the woven fiber canvas that he wears over it. But you stand there and watch as he puts it on and then zips it up. That red star on his right arm means something more than it did years ago.
“Val will probably stop by while we’re gone. Try not to give her too much information on the situation if you can help it.” He then pulls out the chest armor he finds a little cumbersome but at the same time you think he looks pretty good in it. “I have a feeling she wants the machine for herself and we’re getting it for her.”
“So, basically, find out what she’s really up to.” You cross your arms as he’s strapping his armor to him and then pulling his knives out of the cabinet and arming himself.
“Pretty much.” He’s placing his side arm in the holster on his thigh along with the knife that goes with it. “Look, I wanted you to come with us because you’ve been up here for weeks, keeping to yourself.”
“That’s what I do, Bucky.” You can’t help it, you’ve been like this since– well since the Blip. You haven't stepped outside unless you needed to. It wasn’t even the Blip that did this to you. It was something that happened during the Blip and you still haven’t recovered. “I’m safe here.”
“I know.” His voice goes soft as he moves closer to you. “It took months for you to actually talk to me without being terrified.”
“Well, you are pretty intimidating.” You shrug and then you flinch when he puts a hand on your arm. You shrug him off because contact is hard for you. “Sorry, I just– I still have some things to work on.”
He nods with a little guilt in his eyes at having crossed a boundary. “No, I’m sorry.” You weren’t ready. “I– I don’t want you to feel alone.”
“If there is anything I don’t feel, it’s definitely not alone.” You give Bucky a smile. “All of you come see me at least once a day if we aren’t doing missions or meetings of some sort– but I think you check up on me the most.”
It’s true, he’s either calling you or knocking on the door to your workshop because you practically live in it. He had Valentina set up the section next door into a small apartment for you so you’d stop sleeping on the couch. You had a bed now at least. You were just happy that you found some sort of belonging with this group of misfits that all had something wrong with them. You matched their crazy and they matched yours. Especially Yelena and Ava, who dragged you into drinking games every chance they could get.
“I’m okay, Bucky. I really am.” You reach out to touch him this time. You put your hand on his right arm and squeeze it. “I appreciate that you wanted me to go with you guys, but I would just be a liability in the field.” His eyes told you that he knew that, but they also told you that he regretted asking.
“I don’t know what I was thinking to be honest.” He admits and you smile.
“Despite your grumpy old man attitude, you wear that heart of yours on your sleeve.”
“Only for you, Sweetheart.” He doesn’t realize what he said to you until it’s too late, and he doesn’t break the attitude. He clears his throat before he's moving to the door and you’re watching him with warm cheeks and a look of bewilderment on your face. He turns to look at you again with no hint of what happened only moments before and his hand on the doorknob. “You’ll have about eight hours before we land in Singapore so get some rest while you can.”
And just like that, he’s out of the door.
You stand at the windows watching as the team loads up on the jet with Bucky at the yolk with Yelena in co-pilot. You had made an update to the autopilot systems last week so if something should happen, you could easily hack in and take full access to flying the jet yourself. Almost like a drone, really. But you watch as Bucky’s eyes turn to you through the windows and then he’s taking off.
“Well, it is just you, me, and Bob.” Alexei stands next to you with a smile before he’s moving to the couch to sit and watch TV. “Bob! We should watch Judge Judy.”

I’m a trans guy, and I’ve been sexually assaulted many times. But, the catch is that I’ve only been assaulted by women, and that I typically pass as a cis man and don’t really like to correct that assumption. A lot of my friends are also cis guys who have been sexually assaulted by women. None of these assaults have ever been taken seriously.
I was sexually assaulted by a woman in my local queer community, and when I said I was uncomfortable with her coming to events I was called a misogynist who was uncomfortable with feminine queerness (I was not out as trans, I was passing as a cis bi man for reasons, and I did not say the words sexual assault, but rather that she had made me uncomfortable in sexual situations)
I went to go see a therapist because I finally wanted to address my trauma surrounding my past sexual assaults. I was 18. I told him that I had had a couple women not take no for an answer, and he told me he wished he had my problems when he was my age.
I had a friend of mine tell me a story about how his girlfriend had wanted to have sex, but he didn’t want to. She proceeded to force him to have sex at gunpoint. He told me this in a joking manner, and when I told him that that sounded like sexual assault he told me that he had fucked her, so that wasn’t true.
One of my friends was sexually assaulted by a girl at a party. He happened to be in the same club as her, and he asked the club that he not have to interact with her, as they happened to be working together on a project. She then proceeded to create a smear campaign against him, saying that he had been the one who had assaulted her (I have seen proof that it was the opposite), and it eventually got to the point that he had to take it up with the university administration because he was being harassed so much. The administration made him apologize to her.
I had a college course on human sexuality where the professor said that men couldn’t be sexually assaulted, only women could be (I reported this course and it is no longer taught)
Obviously, obviously, women are also not taken seriously when they talk about their sexual assault. Their claims are also dismissed, they are also blamed, and a lot of the time they have internalized so many messages that they do not know that they’ve experienced sexual assault. Sexual assault affects women more on an aggregate physical, emotional, social, and financial level, studies have borne this out over and over. I absolutely do not want to dismiss that. But, some newer findings are showing that men and women are probably sexually assaulted at near parity, and I hate that society as a whole pretends otherwise. I hate that my sexual assault is treated as a joke, that my friends’ sexual assault is treated as a joke. I feel like the fact I’m trans is the only reason I even was able to recognize that I had been assaulted, as if I was a cis guy I genuinely think society would’ve programmed me in such a way that I would’ve thought it was normal.
It’s just. God. It sucks.
