Hello! I've seen your recent post about Senpi on BlueSky. Judging by your comment on Last Boss Rush on YouTube, you've already read his blog post.

I've found that there was discussion about Senpi on Nicovideo Dictionary (dic.nicovideo.jp/b/a/戦ピー/1-). Basically, it seems like when Senpi upload the second part of Touhou EX Boss Rush, people started critisizing him for including original stuff (like Mitori and Momiji's theme).

We don't know) talking about the criticism regarding the inclusion of fanmade characters, and focusses almost fully on the "rushed" narrative This is the only part of the blogpost where he slightly hints at the fanmade character topic:

That part sticks out to me, i don't know what to make of the fact that that is the only part of the blogpost where he refers to the fanmade character topic, and he does it vaguely as well (in my opinion) Was he feeling embarrassed and trying to use the "rushed" narrative as an excuse to deflect the critics to focus on that point instead of the fanmade characters criticism? I wonder if there's something about the criticism against fanmade characters that bothered him more specifically...? Senpi is known to have OC's/fanmade characters, as further evidenced by these archived Pixiv tags on Donmai: https://donmai.moe/artists/77998 This is just a theory, but maybe he was taking it more personally because the criticism involved original/fanmade characters, something he was invested in as well (i remember he even used to draw comics including them, of which very few are still archived, so most of those are lost media, but i remember seeing them on his website in 2010-2011, since i was a fan back then too) I think there's also an important historical context that could be important to keep in mind here; On Niconico back in the late 00's and early 10's, there was a precedent for very agressive behaviour against content creators, especially within the Touhou fandom on Niconico, for example the harrassement and doxxing of people involved with the creation of Touhou voice drama's, which led to multiple people disappearing from the internet, usually to avoid further harassement Perhaps Senpi was wary of the recent harrassement campaigns targeted against other Touhou-related content creators, and was trying to take preventive action by leaving the internet before it could get worse for him (this is just a theory of course) In his final blogpost, Senpi said;

The internet has changed a lot since 2011 If Senpi ever comes back, i hope that i, and others, will have the chance to let him know how much his work positively affected people I still consider Senpi to be one of my biggest music inspirations as a composer myself, and i wouldn't even have become a composer if it wasn't for him When i heard Tiny Crafty Gray for the first time, i just felt so many emotions, it made me cry, i didn't know music was capable of making me feel so many emotions at the same time yet, it really motivated me to pick up music myself as well I want Senpi to come back He was a great composer, a great arranger, and even in 2025, 14 years after his disappearance in 2011, we have not forgotten him, and never will

🌻Have you ever watched SD Gundam Force?

I have, and I do definitely think that a lot of the main Gundam fanbase have overreacted to it when they call it really bad, but at the same time I don't think it's one of the best SD Gundam works.

But I do have to praise a few things, like the mecha designs, the voice acting, and some of the character writing.

While the 3D CG definitely does not look good nowadays, especially with the human characters, I have seen the 2D renditions of them, and the look SOOOO much better imo. Takahiro Kimura really did cook with them.

If anything, I think it should be looked at as a separate beast from the other SD Gundam works, but your milage may vary. It just didn't bury itself into my brain to the level that Kikoushin Densetsu or Saddrac Knight Saga has for me.

Ok I've completed slow damage (aside from a couple bad endings and bonus things I'll look at tomorrow) fuuuck dude. Fuuuck that was so good and like honestly as someone who knows nitro+chiral solely from dmmd and thought dmmd was a great game I was not prepared for how good it would be. Best vn I've played hands down. A few things pissed me off but I still wanna give it a perfect 10/10 masterpiece rating idk I got everything I wanted out of it and a whole lot more. Sidenote i also before playing it had no idea how recent it was I kind of just thought the eroguro yaoi vn went extinct in the mid 2010s

easy explaination of why most if not all the characters have ended up flanderized in FEH: it started as a gacha game for FE fans and now is a FE game for gacha fans. That's why Alphonse won over Sigurd or why Gullveig won last year's cyl with only 2 lines of dialogue too.

This is why I don't want the jugdral remakes to happen, bc look at engage, using FEH's mechanic and FEH using its ring mechanic in order to sell more lyn, camilla and marth alts. I don't want jugdral to end up with another silly gimmick that isn't necessary on the game or the story but can be sold as another gatcha powercreep thingy. As long as FEH is on service, the main franchise is going to be directyl affected by it.

But... yeah, with time, FEH became its own thing and is apparently even considered a main FE Title given how Vero was added, albeit through a DLC, to Engage and I mean -

If Vero's writing is supposed to represent FEH, I have to inform you I found my new least liked FE game lol - which brings the main question : what is an FE game?

TBH, to me, FEH OCs are barely characters (Vero needed heavy retcons and ignoring elephants in the room which were there since book 1 to become remotely close to one) which makes me completely baffled at how they can even be "picked" for events like CYL, but if we are talking about popularity contests, then people will vote for their faves... aka the most recent characters they like or have seen - sure it doesn't help that Siggy'n'Leif are from jp only games, but CYL1 saw Roy being picked, even when his Smash Bros popularity dwindled. Can you imagine, in 2024 if Roy wasn't picked for CYL1, him competing with the non-entity that is Alfonse as "the most beloved FE characters voted in by the fans?".

I mean, I can get liking OCs in gacha/crossover games (I'm not pointing at someone in particular about Crestoria lol even if i prefered kanana to vicious) but I can bet you 2 kebabs that if a Tales gacha organised the equivalent of CYL, Leon and Yuri would be picked before any Male OC, and I'd bet 1 kebab about Alicia or even Milla being added before the Kanonos.

In FEH, Book 2 Vero (or was it 3?) was picked over... Elincia. Recency bias is a thing but... yep, it has been a long time now since FEH stopped being a gacha game for fans of FE, but became its own thing with sometimes FE characters being referenced.

I agree with your last remark though, as long as FEH exists, evil will - I mean, as long as FEH exists, it will have some sort of influence in the main games - even if I reiterate, FE15 managed to dodge its influence, only to fall in some other pitfalls.

Jugdral remakes can play like SoV, "additional" characters will be in a DLC and not have any relevance to the story, I mean, even if you can roll for Sharena on a NG+, she might not even have one line.

But, tbh, it's not the gacha aspects that worry me the most about Jugdral remakes, it's the state of the franchise/fandom post FE15 and especially post FE16, but I'll make a separate post about it.

I’ve been debating about whether or not I should say this because I don’t want to turn this into a sad coincidence. But I just started to read Hongjoong’s new series and read both chapters already. I love how the storyline is going but what’s really touching me right now is the grief part. My grandmother passed away around a week ago and I really felt the resonance with Y/n grieving because it’s been really hard for me these days. Her reaction when she found out was the exact same reaction I had when I found out. I couldn’t even cry at the moment and it took a while for the news to really sink in for me to start bursting into tears and I cried nonstop the next day. Usually I feel very connected to the characters emotionally but now it’s really a coincidence of the emotions that are experienced in the story. Right now I feel more like Hongjoong. I’m not crying but I still feel it although yesterday I had many urges to cry again. My emotions go up and down, it’s hard to understand my own grief. One day I feel numb, the next day I’m crying a sea. It really is a process. But I’m doing better or at least doing better as I can be. I hope this didn’t make you sad, I’m sorry if it did🥺😢I promise that I’m in a better state than I was before♥️🫶🏼

hi SD🎶 anon. firstly, thank you for sharing this with me and my condolences (sending you virtual hugs rn). secondly, i totally understand what you mean. i lost my grandmother years ago and it still feels like a fresh wound. honestly, i don't know if the wound will ever close.

but i am glad that my characters resonate with you. the two of them grieve in their own way and the fact that they knew such different versions of the same person intrigues them.

when i was grieving, my best friend told me 'dont try to understand your grief, no one grieves the same way. just feel what you feel, dont try to force yourself to get over it or understand it'. that really helped me and i hope it helps you too. it really is a process, as you said. but i'm glad you're doing better, take it slow. don't push yourself or force yourself to be okay right away.

I know you mentioned seeing these characters as being more tools for the plot than specifically wanting to give them specific traits, but I was wondering if maybe there was anything solid that Storm might do that might align with a specific breed? If she's meant to have certain personality characteristics or even just an appearance that other dogs would find menacing?
