Spy x Family 30 Day Challenge

Day 26: Do You Like WISE, The Garden, or the SSS?

Honestly, I... don't really like all of them.

Well, all of those three organizations probably have the same goal: to maintain the peace between Ostania and Westalis, but the problem is their ways to reach that same peace. All of those ways are just questionable.

WISE is an intelligence organization from Westalis that operated several missions in the neighboring country, Ostania, and almost all of those missions have questionable methods, like manipulating people, betraying people. stealing some items, forging some documents, honey trapping, etc. In short, they have a good goal, but their ways are just wrong.

The Garden is an assassin organization that targeted all people who threatened the peace between the two countries. I know that all of their targets probably are bad people, but still... killing people is just... not good as well, and definitely not a suitable job for a young girl (I'm talking about when they first recruited Yor, so yeah).

The SSS is a counter-intelligence organization of Ostania that protected the country from all things which could threaten the peace, but they scared all of the citizens. They captured the terrorists, but somehow, they terrorized people.

In short, all of them are not really good organizations.

yeah it kind of. depends here. i want to be able to completely max out at least one fc when/if they are released (e6 s5, that whole jazz). i currently have 36660 jades and 30 special passes which… yeah is enough to guarantee two five stars but not guarantee the limited character… so im hoping the fcs come as l8 as possible so i could splurge w/o worrying 🙂

Day 26: Do you like WISE, The Garden, or the SSS?

None of them?

I mean, WISE has the coolest logo and I like the known members the most out of the three. Twilight's great, Handler's the best, Fiona is at least funny, and the old man is pretty chill. Even the rookie is learning how to think for himself at least! By comparison, we only know Yor(who is great) and McMahon(who is admittedly cool) from the Garden, with the Shopkeeper being every level of shady. Lastly, only Chloe is a fairly likeable character from the SSS to be frank, Yuri being rather annoying and the upper heads coming across as insincere.

But, I don't think I need to explain how flawed that would be as the metrics to understand these organizations. Yes, different characters that might have overlapping ideals that I can root for to different degrees, but these are intelligence agencies with nebulous goals, unknown superiors, and modus operandi ranging from the morally questionable to the outright condemnable. Being realistic even the more likeable of the listed characters have all done some horrible things in or off panel, with Loid having used women to gain information at the cost of their emotional well being and most likely their liberty, Yor having filled graveyards worth of people, and Yuri and Chloe most definitely having participated in torturing prisoners. And these are characters you can understand their standing on these things and how much they self deprecate to different degrees over knowing what they're doing is fucked up. The organizations? They ordered the hits, targeted the lonely women and built the prisons. Their pursuit of whatever the hell they consider the "greater good" for whoever they think this should be is completely above thinking of the little man as nothing but pawns of the broader chess game.

Day 15: Favorite Friendship

These two lovable idiots:

Twilight is in dire need of some lightheartedness in his life, and Franky is just the person to provide it! Franky has known him longer than anyone alive, even Handler. He accepts the grumpy spy as he is and is able to tease him without fear of reprisal. It’s always hilarious and endearing to watch their dynamic.

Franky, on the other hand, doesn’t really “need” Twilight in his life. He has plenty of other friends as we see in chapter 105. He’s well liked in the underground and just knows how to have a good time! Twilight is just one of many income sources and interesting people he associates with. The lack of pressure from Franky’s side of the friendship makes the dynamic better. It enables Franky to be more relaxed, honest, selfless, a good balance to Twilight’s high-strung, overly serious nature.

I just love how they make fun of each other in different ways, like Franky laughing at Twilight during the bullet in butt date:

And! Twilight has zero sense of humor EXCEPT when it comes to Franky. Like you can’t tell me that the opening of chapter 2 was Twilight’s best effort at making Franky into a passable wife. He HAD to be doing this as a joke!

And how about the reverse? Franky is the only friend Twilight would disguise himself as a woman for! In the Monica McBride chapter, he actually helps Franky practice dating by dressing as a hot woman!! That takes considerable effort! This is the plot of my crack fic What Friends are For, by the way.

In seriousness though, their friendship runs deep. They may not have too many serious conversations (although their two chats about not getting attached and not being able to have real relationships were quite memorable ones), but they innately trust each other. At least as much as Twilight allows himself to trust anyone. He brings Franky along as backup where no other agents are available (the art smuggling op and dressing up as SSS to interrogate Yor, for example). He won't admit that Franky is his friend (as Anya reads in his mind that time Yor says "Melinda could be like my Franky!" lol), but it's just another thing he's in denial about.

One of the most pivotal moments in Twilight's pre-spy life took place because of Franky:

This random Ostanian deserter managed to convince [Redacted] not to shoot him, actually made him laugh in the process, and then proceeded to challenge his deeply ingrained beliefs about the war and the enemy. And then, years later, somehow, they crossed paths again as an Ostanian informant and a Westalian spy. They began working together on a routine basis, poking fun at each other, and giving each other unsolicited advice. I would like to think that if either of them knew the other was in serious trouble, they would be there in a heartbeat to bail them out.

Another self plug (collab with @unhappy-sometimes): we are co-writing a parody of 21 Jump Street with Twilight and Franky as fellow WISE agents infiltrating Eden Academy as high schoolers. I daresay it's a fun read!

The Path Untedious - Neil Perry . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁

This was lightly inspired by the two Neil asks I've received in my mailbox (including one with black!reader). Here u go sweetcheeks ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡ this isn't tooooo according but hey 😌

Your husband was a hard-worker — taking longer shifts in the hospital just for the sake of it, noting down whatever was necessary to get his job done and get patients discharged. It was what his father wanted, but you understood best how it exhausted him so. It brought good money, of course, and the soul-fulfilling duty of being a modern healer was priceless in its own — but it would be ignorant to deny the stress and challenge of the career itself.

Tonight he came home at the usual hour, but he had taken an earlier check-in because of a mixup at the emergency room. It wasn't like Neil to decline, but it also wasn't like him to do the job and not be a total baby to you afterwards.

"My swordsfighting maiden," Neil propped his briefcase on the couch before pecking your cheek, "how are you?"

There's a tiredness in his tone, a loving gaze set in his hooded eyes. They were in tandem with the sleepy howls of the dogs outside and the hooting of owls just outside the window. You dimmed the desklight and stood up to greet your lover. Nimbling your fingers upon the knot on his chest, you undid his tie and folded it along with the jacket.

"Fine," you reassured in a gentle voice, "settled everything today. How's work?"

He blew a raspberry and gave you a look — that look. An expression that read 'people piss me off there, but I'm just glad we're together.' You whistled lowly, putting his dirty laundry away.

"Challenging much?"

"Everything needed to be done, this and that, money and — ugh!" Neil fell to the bed dramatically, an arm covering his face. You giggled,

"Must've been so frustrating."

He pouted at you like a sorry puppy, but you were far too busy tidying up his things for him. Neil stared at the ceiling, pretending there were vines for him to hold onto — to save him and yourself away from this life, a life others chose for him. A life where his real interests were kept hidden and astray, shared only with you in the haven of your home. It just wasn't fair.

But you were so patient and so kind, so loving to his impatient mind and young heart that he would do anything to have you live a life of peace. You were his own anyway.

"Did you do what you love today?" he croaked, voice strained from a day of exertion. If it were possible, your ear would've quirked.

"Let's see," you turned to him in thought, finally, greeting him with your freshly blushed cheeks and rose-glossed lips, "I baked some gooseberry pie, cleaned the oven, prepared your dinner then sewed up some dresses."

Neil reached for your nimble hand and you let him, admiration and awe exuding off of him.

"And," he pondered, searching your face, "did you like that?"

You smiled sweetly, nodding in honesty.

"Why?" he asked in painful disbelief, suddenly feeling a lump in his throat. He coughed it off, glad you didn't seem to notice.

'Wasn't it tedious? ' he thought, 'Didn't I bore you?'

You shrugged as if you could hear what tmhe thought, the satin robe he bought you slipping from your shoulder, "I like it. I like serving you. I like... doing what I love. I love love, so I love this. I like you, Neil — like, like you. It's not something I'm forced to do. I hope to God you don't feel that way either."

"No, goodness no," Neil grasped your fingers, kissing them with insistence as he mumbled, "no, never."

You brushed those brunette strands back, hearing Neil sigh in relief as you did.

"Then what is it?" you whispered.

"It's you," he shook his head, "just you."

You stifled a grin, averting your gaze as bashfulness overtoom you. It always did, always will when it came to Neil. He noticed, of course, and pivoted your chin so you'll meet his eyes.

You'dstay like that forever if you could.

30 Day SxF Challenge

Day 8:

Worst moment for you?

I’m going to take worst moment as a moment I straight up didn’t like. There have been really sad and heartbreaking moments where I go “I don’t like this” but I can appreciate that they are important to the story or the character. (Like Twilight’s heartbreaking backstory or mentions of war or Anya’s past etc.) ‘Worst’ for me means I am straight up confused, irritated, and annoyed by the moment. And there is one big one that comes to mind:

Sometimes I think I am too harsh on Twilight when it comes to his progress with Anya but like, wtf was this dude? He was so blasé about his daughter being in a perilous situation and almost dying. I know it’s going to take some time for him to embrace his feelings, I understand his character. I’m sure he was deflecting some of his stress about Anya here to being around SSS. But this is a five-year-old girl, one he is close to. I expected some kind of reaction. This nothingness was just weird!
