I'm going to preface this by saying that I have really complex feelings about this, and much of it is inspired by my personal experiences and a bit of learning about what other trans people experience. If I come across as messy, it is because of these reasons.

There's this unshakable feeling I have that when allies and even other trans people talk about trans people, transition and motivation for transition, and anything related to such, that there's only certain things that x type of trans person can (and should) experience and talk about.

Like, when people talk about FtMs/trans men/transmasc people, a common idea is that we're motivated to transition to game the system, to manipulate people into treating us better because we're now seen as men. A huge reason I never even bought into that idea is because, since transition (especially medical), I have been treated worse than I ever have been. Since transitioning and being on testosterone, I've been catcalled, had people insist I hand my number over, and I have to emphasize that I've never experienced these things until a couple of years ago (to clarify, this was in my real, corporeal life). I honestly can say that, while transition has saved my life and soul, I am treated worse by others than I ever had been pre-transition. However, because the idea of transmascs is that "they were victims of misogyny and they only want to escape it through transition" is popular even among some trans people, I feel like it's almost... taking something away by acknowledging that. Add to this that I'm white and that TPoC have so many experiences that intertwine with race, and that race absolutely goes into how trans people are treated.

I am not saying that my experience is the only valid or true one. I am very aware that I'm probably an outlier. However, I just notice that, time and time again, people hear what they want to hear about transness, and if people have even slightly different points of view from their experiences, it doesn't matter, or worse, those people are duplicitous and conniving.

Some people will say this woman is collateral damage at best, a terrorist at worst. The truth is that in a situation where it would be understandable to forget about the animals around her and focus only on human life, she protects them too, and at great risk and cost to herself. Do not let anyone tell you these people are monsters.

idk why ppl ignore that women, regardless of race or class, experience police violence for being female. Both from on duty and off duty officers. That 40% cops thing is thrown around a lot but no one acknowledges that as hate, that police officers off duty will often use their power as a man and as an officer to beat/kill women. Theres also the cases of police on duty using abortion as an excuse to brutalize and stalk women, police officers raping and murdering women using their power as officers to do it and getting away with it. and then also something no one talks about: the justice system unfairly punishes women if it can. The justice system hates women being free.

Also, “crime of passion” laws still exist, female murder victims and missing women (regardless of race, but especially native women) are rarely taken seriously. And let’s not even get into how women are treated in female prisons, male guards frequently use female prisons as his own personal brothel, and this behaviour is allowed for sometimes years. Oh, and shit let’s also not talk about how many laws are really only created to protect men and arrest girls. Let’s not talk about how many women end up in jail for minor things like drugs and property damage, compared to men.

Let’s also not talk about how poverty and drug addiction connect, and how the patriarchy keeps women in poverty by intentionally underpaying female dominated fields, reducing wages on any field when it becomes female dominated, and underpaying the female workers who happen to work in male dominated fields to keep them poorer than their male counterparts. Let’s not talk about how keeping females and female communities poor is directly contributing to the kind of crime that women are then unfairly targeted for.

let’s really not talk about how all these things connect, how the men in charge of society have set up a system that keeps women poor and trapped, then the men in charge of prison facilities setting up a system where women are locked up in places where they have no control for minor charges, then said men, who now have complete control over these women, use the women who’ve been trapped in these facilities (again, very often for things a man wouldn’t be criminally charged for) as sex slaves, even forcing them to get pregnant….yeah, let’s not talk about how all that connects.

I get why people are saying Shiv and Roman should be doing more for Kendall as his addiction escalates (and they definitely don’t always deal with it respectfully or appropriately—Shiv blasting his addiction on social media, Roman calling him a “junkie,” etc.) but in their defense like. Shiv made a genuine effort to intervene and he wasn’t receptive. You cannot make someone stop using if they aren’t ready. That has to be a step that they take for themselves.

Shiv and Roman have been watching Logan deal with Kendall’s addiction for years, and the way that Logan approaches the issue is by making it clear that he thinks active addiction is unacceptable and Kendall needs to be sober, period. They know (because they’ve seen!) that trying to force Kendall into sobriety doesn’t do anything except create a personal culture of secrecy, lies, and sneaking around that puts him (and any waiters who cross his path </3) in terrifying, life-threatening situations.

It’s not that they don’t care about Kendall’s addiction, it’s just that they know that the “sober or nothing” approach doesn’t work, and so (as of s4) they’ve stopped pushing sobriety, and they’re trying to help him by just being there until he is able to get sober. Kendall talks about addiction openly with them. They know that he’s using. They know what he’s using. They know that he doesn’t use intravenously. He feels safe talking to them about his use because they don’t freak out or threaten him with institutionalization, and that’s a huge step that could literally save his life.

And this isn’t even really a theory because we’ve seen this play out! When Kendall was on that bender and using untested meth at a complete stranger’s house, he called Roman to pick him up (and not Logan), because he knew that Roman would come get him no matter what, no questions asked. No yelling, no outbursts, no interrogation, no ‘after this I’m pink-slipping you out to the desert’ just “drop a pin so I know you’re okay.” Feeling safe calling Roman for a ride could very well have saved his life. Having “safe people” who will be there for an addict until they can get sober is harm reduction

Looking at a lot of Loustat shippers and how they view/talk about Louis, is making me think of the BtVS fandom, the first fandom I joined when I was 16/17.

Anyway, a lot of the Spuffy shippers were out there calling Buffy derogatory names, saying SHE was the actual abusive one in the relationship, writing the most vile essays/fanfiction about her needing to be brought down a peg and admit she was wrong and Spike was right, saying the show was boring without Spike, despite Buffy being the main character, could not talk about Buffy as a character separate from Spike, propping up James's acting skills over Sarah's, made it sound like Spike was a better parent to Dawn than Buffy was (?), saying that the other men she was in romantic relationships with were much more abusive than Spike, excusing Spike for basically all of his actions and woobifying him because of his trauma....

and then you'd have the more critical Spuffy/non-Spuffy shippers (mainly woc) pointing out the blatant misogyny and victim-blaming in this way of thinking, pointing out how Spike represents some of the worst aspects of racism and the patriarchy, both textually and subtextually, even providing scholarly articles and literature to back up their claims, and asking why do you even ship Spuffy if you hate Buffy? Which of course received extreme backlash and harassment from people racing to defend Spike themselves, saying, no of course they didn't hate Buffy, but Spike is more complex than you're making him sound, and no he's not a racist or hates women, he's actually a feminist and a punk/anarchist and doesn't kill based on race, you're just a vile sjw and an anti who loves ruining everyone else's fun.

Anyway. Why do you even ship Loustat if you hate Louis?

Modern AU kidnap family

Maedhros and Maglor are high up in the mob. They kidnap Elrond and Elros for leverage over Earendil and Elwing.

Elwing leaves town and cuts off contact before she can hear exactly what she's being extorted into.

Maedhros and Maglor aren't going to actually abuse the boys if they can't give orders to the parents - that would just be cruelty for it's own sake.

But they sign Elrond and Elros up gymnastics and children's karate. Every time the boys fall during practice, Maedhros takes pictures so "we can track how well you're healing, in case you need a doctor". He posts the pics online tagged only "my kids are so clumsy", faces carefully cropped out so the police algorithms won't spot them. The message history of that account is obviously him though, if anyone knows about Maedhros's mob position. He links the photos on any message boards Elwing might be reading.

Maedhros sends links to the whole forum to Earendil's email as well from a burner account, so Earendil will have to wade through dozens of irrelevant pages while getting more and desperate for word of the twins. (Maglor got Earendil's email from the family group emails that Anaire still sends out for everyone's birthdays.)

Maybe if Earendil thinks his sons are being abused, he'll actually be motivated to take up his part in the family business, if only to save them.

An important thing about me is that I fully support people who use substances, people in recovery, people who use in moderation, people who’ve never used, and none of those things contradict each other.

I’m very much pro-harm reduction and always will be. I support meeting people wherever they’re at, I support people having access to knowledge they need in order to make informed decisions around their use. I support people having access to safe means to use.

And more than anything, I filly support people in active use, including (especially) problematic use. I want my community to be safe. I don’t believe that offering support to people in active use is inherently enabling. I know that the only thing Narcan/Naloxone enables is breathing.

I’ve lost too many loved ones to sit on the sidelines and hope they’ll do what’s needed to keep themselves safe. The bare minimum I can do is emotionally support my community. I need harm reduction, we all do.

day three : how to stay organized

Staying organized might be the biggest pain in the ass but it feels very good and makes things ten times easier, especially as a high school sophomore I struggle to keep up with my work because I have everything scattered around, so here are the new habits i’m myself to respect.. it hopes that they work for someone else too <3

— Buy a cute notebook or calendar and decorate it with stickers, write down your assignment deadlines, holidays, tests, appointments and other important things in cute colors ( i use a pastel purple pen and a pink glitter one + pastel pink and purple highlighters ). Make it so cute that you want to open it everyday!

— This might be a bit hard for some people but do your assignments the day that they are given. i cannot stress this enough but you will feel so good when on the day that’s it’s due you’ll watch your classmates do the work in a rush knowing that you’ve already done it, and you did it well.

— Know your timetable and how you usually spend your time during the day ( for example : knowing that you get ready everyday at 5am so until around 6:30am you’re busy. )

— Work comes before pleasure. Please put your phone away and do your work, if you still have time left afterwards you can always scroll on TikTok AFTER doing your work.

— Have goals and be determined to achieve them / don’t forget to reward yourself. Write down your goals each week or even month and decide on how you’ll reward yourself, said reward will motivate you to work harder and stay organized in your work.

— Schedule your week on Sundays, while resetting on Sundays [see my post here] don’t forget to put all the important things in your notebook or calendar.

— Find the way YOU stay organized the best ; it it’s by having a calendar on notion, using a physical one ( i really recommend that ) or even just using the default one on your phone; do what makes you feel best and helps you!

— Clean your room everyday, don’t wait until it’s a complete mess or until someone forces you to do it. If you clean everyday you won’t allow mess to settle into your rom and you life. If you know where everything is at all time you’ll be able to operate way faster and easier around your room.

— Stay consistent. Write down every new homework that is given in class and don’t forget to check your calendar everyday to see if you forgot anything.

— Do the work that you don’t want to do or don’t like first so that it’s out of the way and you can have fun doing the fun work!

— Also keep your hobbies organized, as a reader I’m a very big fan of Goodreads because it keeps me SO organized!
