note. happy belated birth 2 me ^^ to celebrate, i’m posting my first (100% self-indulged) cheol fic (it’s long overdue, i know.) reblogs are greatly appreciated mwah!! ily all sm <3 [ not proofread ]
Tumblr media
“cheollie…” you whimper softly, eyes fluttering close. “please…”
seungcheol smiles, lips pressed to your ear. “did you finish, baby?” he asks with a voice barely above a whisper. when you shake your head, muttering out a soft ‘no,’ he simply hums. “how much more do you have?”
“i-i only have 150 more words to write,” you tell him breathily, hands tensing up as you think about how full you are of his cock. “but i can’t focus anymore… i dunno what else to say.”
“oh, maybe i should take you–”
you cut him off with a desperate cry before he can even suggest taking you off his cock. “no! no, don’t– but…maybe i should turn it in as is?”
“you’re doing so well, though, baby. i know you can do it, you’re my smart girl.” he coos. “plus, that wasn’t our agreement.”
right, you think. the stupid agreement.
seungcheol saw how much you were dreading your school work so, naturally, he offered to let you sit on his cock while you did your assignments. you both agreed– him more than you– that as soon as you turned in all of your work, he’d then treat you just the way you needed.
but now the only thing you can think about it is his stupidly big cock and his buff arms wrapped around you and the stream of arousal that pools at the base of his length. it’s almost overwhelming how he’s filled your senses.
“i know, cheol, but i’m tired– i wanna fuck.” you whine and he chuckles at the vulgar words.
“i’ll only fuck you if you finish your work, princess, you know that.” he reprimands. “c’mon, it’s 11:23, start typing.”
you groan, hands falling to your keyboard. you do your best to come up with 150 more comprehensible words and, for the most part, you’re doing well. you easily write two sentences of 53 words, but when cheol accidentally shifts under you, your hands freeze and you let out a soft whimper.
when you clamp tightly around him, the softest sigh slips his lips. “‘m sorry, baby, keep going.” he says, trying to control himself.
“you’re teasing me on purpose, cheol,” you whine, eyes fluttering close when you feel his cock twitch inside
“‘m not, promise.” he whispers, hot breath fanning against your neck. “just feel s’good, can’t wait to fuck you.”
you gasp, brain going haywire at the words. a soft moan slips your lips and a lightbulb goes off in cheol’s head.
he knows exactly how to get you to finish your work.
he smiles cheekily, “you want that, right, princess? you want me to fuck this pretty lil cunt full, yeah?” his voice is low as his lips trail up to the shell of your ear.
you huff. “fuck… yes– i want that.”
“i know, baby,” he murmurs against your ears. “just 97 more words ‘n i’ll let you turn off that big brain of yours and fuck you stupid– you can do that for me, can’t you?”
you shudder, nodding your head incessantly. you take a deep breath and let your eyes refocus on the screen at your desk. seungcheol proudly hums, chin resting on your shoulder as he watches you type.
it’s obvious you have no idea what you’re talking about. your trigger fingers clack against the keyboard as if your life depends on it, but your sentences are nearly incoherent. you forget your commas and apostrophes and proper capitalization, but he can’t find it in him to correct you. he knows how badly you need this and he also needs it just as bad.
when you type your last period and press submit without proofreading the work, you let out a cry of relief. it definitely wasn’t your best work– probably your fucking worst– but you’re nearing the end of the semester and you could truly care less about what your professor thinks of you. you let out a sigh, instantly grinding down and clamping around seungcheol’s cock as soon as you see the ‘submitted’ sign on your computer.
“so good,” he moans, hands guiding your hips. “my smart girl, you did so well, fuck.”
“oh my, god.” you whine desperately. “cheollie, y-you’ll fuck me right?”
“god, yes.”
unbeknownst to you, too caught up in your own desperation, seungcheol was needy. probably just as needy as you. you wrapped around him so nicely– you always fucking do– and it has been driving him up a wall for the past hour. he wanted, so badly, to buck his hips up to fuck into you, but he had to control himself. he had to let you finish your work before you could finish in the way you deserved.
but now, you’re done and he plans on ravishing you till the only thing can say is his name.
his hands grip your waist tight, halting your movements and ripping a loud whine from your throat.
“up.” he demands softly, pulling you off his cock.
you pant, “but cheol–”
“promise i’ll give you what you want, baby— told you i would—  but not like this, yeah? let me take care of you.”
you nod dumbly, lifting up and whining in the process at the emptiness. seungcheol grunts, already missing the tightness of your pussy, but he quickly moves to spear you back on to him. he stands to his feet and pushes the chair back before roughly spinning you around and pressing his lips to yours. you melt in his calloused hands, your own flattening against his hard chest.
your mouth cracks open on a moan and cheol takes it as an opportunity to shove his tongue inside. your knees give out at the feeling of him invading your mouth and your fingers grab at the loose grey shirt on his body to keep from falling over. you fist tighter and tighter as the seconds pass, arousal leaking from your bare cunt.
he presses you against the desk, blindly sliding your laptop out of the way. when he groans into your mouth, you hoist yourself on to it with his assistance, sitting on the edge and spreading your legs for him to stand between.
panting, seungcheol parts from the kiss, “hold on to me, baby.” he says, words rushed and a bit whiny.
you eagerly nod, wrapping your arms around his neck and leaning back so he can easily press into you. his breathing is shaky as he aligns his cock with your hungry, drooling hole and when he slowly pushes in, he lets a loud moan out– one louder than the whimper that escapes your lips– while huffing out a curse.
your head falls back and your eyes roll when you feel his cock fill you up again. even though he was inside you a mere three minutes ago, his girth is still so much to take. so much in a good way, of course. the burning stretch is one you miserably crave throughout the day.
“still so tight, fuck,” he sighs, basking you in. you look so fucking beautiful in his loose t-shirt alone and, even with the tiny dark circles under your eyes and your hair slightly disheveled, he still thinks you’re the prettiest thing in the world. his pretty fucking girl.
a choked sob dies in the back of your throat as he bottoms out. “ch-cheol.” you manage to get out, a pained expression falling over your face.
he shushes you softly, “just breathe, baby, you’re takin’ me so well, but you need to breathe.” he urges, words strained as he’s fighting the impulse to moan again. it’s nearly impossible, though, with how fucking amazing you feel.
you nod profusely and take a shuddered inhale followed by an even shakier exhale allowing your body to adjust to his intense size. when the pain finally subsides and you can nearly taste the pleasure on your tongue, you softly moan out his name.
he asks if you’re good and that raspy, deep voice fills your ears, sending shockwaves to your messy cunt. you clench again but ultimately tell him, “‘m okay– s’okay. y-you can keep going.”
he grunts at this, pulling his cock out– eliciting a whine from you– before gently pushing back in. he gives you a few experimental thrusts, listening to the way you moan for him prior to setting a steady speed.
“how’s this, princess?” he pants, large hands still roughly grabbing at your waist. “too fast?”
you shake your head, looking at him with teary, doe eyes. “faster? please?”
he moans, nodding his head. “tell me if it’s too much, okay? know you’re tired ‘n i just want you to feel good.” he reminds you sweetly, voice cracking as the tempo of his thrusts increase.
even if it was too much, you wouldn’t tell him. you love his cock– love the way he makes you feel– and you would spend days fucking him if you could. you nod anyway, though, giving him peace of mind.
the desk under you wobbles a bit with the rapid speed at which he fucks you, but it’s very obvious that the unsturdy object is the least of both of your worries. your mouth is hung open, moans and soft cries drooling out while cheol watches completely enamored of you.
it’s right when he gives you a sharp thrust, hitting the spongy spot in your pussy, that he sees your brain shut off. he sees the way your eyes glass over and hears how your pleads and cries have slurred. he’s already fucked you stupid.
“that’s it, pretty baby, don’t need to think anymore. so pretty ‘n smart. so fuckin’ perfect. just for me.” he moans breathily, grip on your body somehow tightening. he’ll have to remember to apologize and dote on you a little more when you wake up with bruises in the morning. “oh, shit— you’re doin’ so well, baby. always so good f’me.”
his cock stirs you up and it’s hard to stop your orgasm from brewing in the pit of your tummy. “cheol!” you gasp, tightly wrapping your legs around him. you pull him closer to you and he feels like he might let go too soon if you don’t ease up on him.
“‘m here, right here. all yours, baby.” he promises. “gonna let go for me? make a pretty lil mess all over me, huh?”
you nod, tears of pleasure soaking your lash line and getting ready to spill down your face. “uh-huh! ‘m so close.”
you just need a little bit more and you’ll surely soak him in your cum. luckily, seungcheol knows exactly what you need.
“rub your clit,” he tells you, a loud grunt following his words at the thought. “rub your clit and cum all over my cock, princess.”
a broken moan slips out and you nod weakly. one of your arms leaves his neck and snakes in between your bodies. your nimble fingers find the puffy, untouched bud, rubbing uncoordinated circles into it.
seungcheol finds the sight so alluring and when you clamp around him, his eyes nearly roll. he can’t stop the way his hips pick up in speed as his own brain turns to mush. your jaw goes slack and your eyes squeeze shut at the onslaught of pleasure. you don’t even get the chance to warn him when he gives you another sharp thrust and the tight coil in your tummy suddenly unravels.
your cries die on the tip of your tongue as you release with an inaudible squeal, body jerking under his. tears begin to fall, painting your heated cheeks as you’re overwhelmed by the immense gratification.
“that’s a good girl,” he groans, feeling how you trap him in between your tight, gummy walls. “fuck, fuck, fuck– you feel so good.” he tells you, eyebrows knit together as he wears the sexiest face of pleasure.
you sob as he fucks you through your orgasm, body slumping in exhaustion. “cheollie,” you mewl, still trembling on top of the desk.
“i know, baby, ‘m gonna cum… w-where–”
you cut him off, “inside.”
he grunts a curse, “shit– gonna fill you up, gonna give it to you, princess,” he babbles, thrust growing sloppy. “take it all for me.”
it happens before you can reply. his hips flush against yours, cock stilling before he empties his load into your cunt. he whines softly, mumbling out more words of praise.
he stays nestled inside of your cunt, holding your body up with his hands while he peppers kisses all over your face.
“did that feel good?” he whispers, unable to trust his wavering voice.
“so so good,” you sigh. “thank you, cheollie.”
he smiles, humming, “you deserved it, princess.”

The list of regrets I totally have and am not just writing because Charlie is making me, Vagina Vaggie is glaring at me, and I want the free rent:
By Angel Dust, 3 time X-X-X award winner.
(Warning, there is some victim blaming in this. The abuse Angel faces from Val is not his fault, but given that I’m writing this from his perspective I figured it would be something he’d add.)
1. Writing this list
2. Verbally complaining about writing this list cause now Vagina wants to stab me.
3. Only taking half my usual hit before starting today.
4. Complaining about not being high enough.
5. Not hiding my drugs better
6. Not having more stashes of drugs
7. Calling TV superior to radio.
8. Not killing that snake before he had a chance to go to the hotel.
9. Not “trying hard enough” at this shitty hotel.
10. Being too close to roof so the CRAZY BITCH COULD THROW ME OFF OF IT.
11. Walking up the stairs with Pentious only to have to go IMMEDIATELY BACK DOWN.
12. Signing my deal with fucking Valentino. Seriously I’m a fucking idiot.
13. Even suggesting the idea that Charlie should come to the studio. She’s just going to get hurt.
14. Mouthing off to Val.
15. Not getting Charlie out of the hotel sooner
16. Being such a pathetic, dick sucking ho who isn’t good at anything beyond sex.
17. Not being able to take all of this.
18. Not acting well enough cause some this bitchass cat is seeing through me.
19. Ever offering that bitchass cat my services.
20. Pushing Husk’s boundaries
21. Not being my true self.
22. Acting for so long I don’t even really know who my true self is
23. Being a dick to Charlie
24. Being a dick to Husk
25. Being a dick to everyone
26. Putting my dick in a vacuum cleaner.
27. Calling Smiles a creepy dommy daddy.
28. Letting Niffty know about some of my more kinky films. She’s getting ideas…

30. Testing if my venom works on myself (it doesn’t and now I have pink bite marks)
31. Leaving what I used to clean my bites out because somehow Alastor found them and is now TEMPORARILY PARALYZED AND I DONT WANT HIM TO KILL ME WHEN HE CAN MOVE AGAIN.

33. Wearing boots. Seriously these things hurt sometimes.
34. Having ugly feet so I can’t NOT wear boots.
35. Tracking mud into the hotel
36. Mentioning sex around the Egg Bois because now I have to explain what it is.
37. Describing sex as something their boss “has never had,” it got back to Pentious and I’m scared.
38. Mentioning “Vox” anywhere in Alastor’s vicinity.
39. Agreeing to play Monopoly with Niffty. In general Monopoly sucks but Niffty likes to get knives involved?!?!

49. Getting high with Cherri.
50. Telling Val to “fuck off”
51. Flirting with that one cannibal guy because now they all seem to want to EAT ME (and not in the sexy way)
52. Leaving those pot brownies out. High cannibals, Egg Boiz, and Nifftys are terrifying.
53. Letting myself be named “Angel” because this makes shit too damn confusing plus I think Niffty wants to KILL ME?!
54. Not spending more time with these losers
55. Not opening myself up to Husk sooner.
56. Being too much of a coward to tell him how I feel.
57. Mentioning Pent has two dicks to Cherri cause she won’t stop asking about it.
58. Not doing enough to save Pentious.
59. Not telling him how much he means to me.
60. Trying to lift way more than I should have. Apparently six arms doesn’t mean I’m super strong.
61. Calling Niss a short motherfucker who nobody likes. I’m sorry, I’ll be better (and call him something even worse next time.)
62. Still being too much of a coward to tell Husk how I feel.
63. Flirting with Husk in Italian when he UNDERSTOOD ME THIS WHOLE DAMN TIME?!
64. Getting a room on the same side of the building as Alastor’s because he keeps laughing at 3 in the morning???
65. Kissing Husk in public. Val is mad.
66. Trying to even have a boyfriend with Val around. It’s stupid.
67. Calling yourself stupid for wanting to have a boyfriend.
68. Giving my boyfriend access to this list.
69. No regrets. Only 69. :D (Jesus Christ you’re a child.)

I'm so scared because it's my 8th house profection year (20 years), my Pluto and vertex are there...
Could you talk more about the profection year of each house and what we can expect?
Annual profections are a traditional astrological technique used to predict themes and experiences that may be prominent in a particular year of your life. The concept is simple: each year of your life corresponds to a different house in your natal chart, and the affairs of that house take center stage during that year.
The house that is activated is called the "Profection House," and the planet ruling that house, called the "Time Lord," is considered especially significant during that year. The activated house and its ruler provide clues about the areas of life that will be particularly active, challenging, or rewarding.
1st House Profection Year (Ages 0, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, etc.)
- Themes: Self-identity, personal growth, health, appearance, and overall vitality.
- Expectations: This year emphasizes your relationship with yourself. It's a time for self-discovery, redefining your identity, and focusing on your physical body and personal goals. You might feel more motivated to take control of your life and make decisions that reflect who you truly are.
2nd House Profection Year (Ages 1, 13, 25, 37, 49, 61, 73, 85, etc.)
- Themes: Finances, personal values, material possessions, self-worth.
- Expectations: This year centers around your resources and what you value. Financial matters come to the forefront, as well as questions about what makes you feel secure. You may focus on earning, saving, or re-evaluating your material and emotional security.
3rd House Profection Year (Ages 2, 14, 26, 38, 50, 62, 74, 86, etc.)
- Themes: Communication, learning, siblings, neighbors, short trips.
- Expectations: Expect increased activity in your immediate environment. This year is often marked by a desire to learn new skills, engage in more communication, or connect with siblings and neighbors. Writing, teaching, or learning could become prominent.
4th House Profection Year (Ages 3, 15, 27, 39, 51, 63, 75, 87, etc.)
- Themes: Home, family, roots, emotional foundations.
- Expectations: Focus shifts to your home life and family matters. You might move, renovate, or explore your ancestry. Emotional security and your relationship with your family take precedence. This is also a year to establish a strong foundation for the future.
5th House Profection Year (Ages 4, 16, 28, 40, 52, 64, 76, 88, etc.)
- Themes: Creativity, romance, children, pleasure.
- Expectations: Creativity and self-expression are highlighted. This could manifest as artistic pursuits, romantic relationships, or activities that bring you joy. Children, whether your own or others, may also play a significant role this year.
6th House Profection Year (Ages 5, 17, 29, 41, 53, 65, 77, 89, etc.)
- Themes: Health, work, daily routines, service.
- Expectations: Health and daily routines come into focus. You might adopt new habits, address health issues, or find yourself focusing more on work and service. This is a year for refining your routine and improving your day-to-day life.
7th House Profection Year (Ages 6, 18, 30, 42, 54, 66, 78, 90, etc.)
- Themes: Partnerships, marriage, one-on-one relationships, contracts.
- Expectations: Relationships take center stage. This could be a year of marriage, forming new partnerships, or renegotiating existing ones. It's a time to focus on how you relate to others and the dynamics of your significant relationships.
8th House Profection Year (Ages 7, 19, 31, 43, 55, 67, 79, 91, etc.)
- Themes: Shared resources, transformation, death, taxes, intimacy.
- Expectations:Matters involving shared resources, such as joint finances or investments, are prominent. This year may also bring a focus on deep psychological transformation, confronting fears, or dealing with endings and rebirths.
9th House Profection Year (Ages 8, 20, 32, 44, 56, 68, 80, 92, etc.)
- Themes: Travel, higher education, philosophy, belief systems.
- Expectations: This year is about expanding your horizons, whether through travel, education, or exploring new philosophies. You may be drawn to new ideas, spiritual pursuits, or cultural experiences that broaden your understanding of the world.
10th House Profection Year (Ages 9, 21, 33, 45, 57, 69, 81, 93, etc.)
- Themes: Career, public image, authority, long-term goals.
- Expectations: Your career and public life come into focus. This year often brings changes or advancements in your professional life. You might gain recognition, take on more responsibility, or work towards long-term goals that define your legacy.
11th House Profection Year (Ages 10, 22, 34, 46, 58, 70, 82, 94, etc.)
- Themes: Friendships, groups, aspirations, social networks.
- Social connections and friendships are highlighted. You might become more involved in groups or organizations, or work towards goals with others. This is also a time to focus on your hopes and aspirations, often within a community context.
12th House Profection Year (Ages 11, 23, 35, 47, 59, 71, 83, 95, etc.)
- Themes: Solitude, spiritual growth, endings, hidden matters.
- Expectations: This is a year of introspection and possibly retreat. You may feel the need to withdraw and focus on your inner world. It's a time for spiritual growth, healing, and dealing with subconscious or hidden issues. Often, this year can also bring closure to certain chapters in your life.
After determining which house is activated, identify the ruling planet of that house in your natal chart. The condition and aspects of this planet will offer further insight into what the year might bring. Look at how current planetary transits are affecting the activated house and the Time Lord. This will add more depth to your understanding of the year's themes.Reviewing previous years when the same house was activated can give you a sense of recurring themes or lessons. Understanding the house profections can give you a roadmap for the year, helping you navigate challenges and make the most of opportunities aligned with the themes of your activated house.

Putting Him First- kismet4891(ff) Summary: Canon, One shot, Mature: "I no longer just exist but have come to enjoy and revel in the life that Peeta and I have built. Small Town Secrets-hutchabelle (ao3) Summary: District 13’s policy prohibiting co-workers from dating is well-known and non-negotiable, which is unfortunate for Peeta and Katniss. astro notes: daily transits 8/30
Friday presents a day of shifting energies, beginning with a focus on service, nurturing, and emotional connection, and later transitioning to a more dynamic and intense atmosphere. The morning opens with harmonious aspects that encourage empathy and fulfillment through helping others, while the afternoon brings more challenging energies that may trigger power struggles and feelings of vulnerability. The day invites us to balance our need to nurture and be nurtured with the necessity of facing and integrating our deeper emotional complexities.
Key Influences
Sun Trine Ceres (7°32' Virgo–Capricorn):Service and Fulfillment: The day begins with a harmonious trine between the Sun in Virgo and Ceres in Capricorn, highlighting themes of service, care, and nurturing. This aspect suggests that fulfillment can be found through acts of service, particularly those that are grounded in practicality and responsibility. Both Virgo and Capricorn are earth signs, emphasizing a grounded, realistic approach to caring for others. There’s a focus on the nourishment we give and receive, whether in a literal sense through food and physical care or in a broader sense through emotional support and guidance. The trine encourages us to find satisfaction in being useful and contributing to the well-being of others.
Cancer Moon Sextile Uranus (4:53 a.m.) and Trine Neptune (8:25 a.m.):Intuition and Empathy: As the Moon moves through nurturing Cancer, it forms supportive aspects to Uranus and Neptune early in the morning. The sextile to Uranus enhances intuition and a willingness to embrace emotional spontaneity. This aspect encourages a break from routine, allowing for innovative or unexpected approaches to caregiving and emotional expression. The trine to Neptune further amplifies empathy, compassion, and emotional sensitivity. It’s a time when intuition is heightened, and there’s a strong desire to connect with others on a deep, emotional level. The Cancer Moon’s nurturing qualities are emphasized, making this a morning well-suited for offering and receiving emotional support.
Moon Ingress into Leo (10:09 a.m.) and Opposition to Pluto (10:13 a.m.):Emotional Intensity: As the Moon shifts from Cancer to Leo, the emotional tone changes dramatically. Leo’s fiery energy brings a focus on self-expression, creativity, and the need for recognition, but the immediate opposition to Pluto in Aquarius introduces an element of power struggles and intense emotional dynamics. This aspect can trigger deep-seated fears, jealousy, or the need to control, leading to potentially explosive interactions. The opposition between the Moon and Pluto often brings hidden emotions to the surface, forcing us to confront issues of power, control, and emotional intensity. This can manifest in conflicts or intense emotional exchanges, particularly in relationships where underlying tensions have been simmering.
Sun Sesquiquadrate Chiron (Afternoon):Vulnerability and Healing: Later in the day, the Sun in Virgo forms a sesquiquadrate with Chiron in Aries, highlighting issues of self-esteem, vulnerability, and the need for healing. This aspect may bring moments of self-doubt or feelings of inadequacy, particularly around our ability to be of service or to fulfill our duties. Chiron’s influence often brings up old wounds, especially those related to identity and self-worth, asking us to confront and heal these areas. The sesquiquadrate is a minor challenging aspect, suggesting that these feelings may not be overwhelming but will require attention and care. There’s an opportunity for healing, but it may require confronting uncomfortable truths about our own vulnerabilities.
Integrating the Influences
Morning Nurturing:Service and Empathy: The morning begins with a strong emphasis on nurturing and emotional connection. The Sun’s trine to Ceres encourages acts of service that provide a sense of fulfillment, particularly when grounded in practicality and responsibility. This is a good time to focus on caregiving, whether that involves supporting others emotionally, taking care of practical needs, or simply being present for those who need you. The Cancer Moon’s aspects to Uranus and Neptune enhance intuition and empathy, making this a morning where emotional support flows easily. Embrace opportunities to connect with others in meaningful ways, and trust your intuition in navigating emotional dynamics.
Mid-Morning Shift:Balancing Intensity: As the Moon moves into Leo and opposes Pluto, the emotional tone shifts to one of intensity and potential conflict. This is a time to be mindful of power dynamics in relationships and to avoid letting emotions get out of control. The opposition to Pluto can bring hidden issues to the surface, so it’s important to address these with care and honesty. If you find yourself in a power struggle, try to step back and assess the situation objectively, recognizing where control issues or deep-seated fears may be influencing your behavior. The Leo Moon’s energy encourages self-expression, but it’s crucial to channel this in a way that promotes understanding rather than conflict.
Afternoon Reflection:Healing Vulnerabilities: The sesquiquadrate between the Sun and Chiron later in the day brings up issues of self-worth and vulnerability. This aspect may highlight areas where you feel inadequate or where past wounds are still affecting your sense of self. It’s a good time for reflection and for addressing these feelings with compassion and care. Consider how you can integrate the lessons of Chiron, using your vulnerabilities as a source of strength and healing. The Sun in Virgo’s focus on service and responsibility can help ground these feelings, encouraging you to find practical ways to work through them.

Shannen Doherty’s Untimely Death Sparks Important Conversations About Healthcare Access And Equity
By Janice Gassam Asare
Shannen Doherty, the actress best known for her roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed has died after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 53. In a 2015 statement to People magazine, the actress revealed her breast cancer diagnosis, stating that she was “undergoing treatment” and that she was suing a firm and its former business manager for causing her to lose her health insurance due to a failure to pay the insurance premiums. According to reports, in a lawsuit Doherty shared that she hired a firm for tax, accounting, and investment services, among other things, and that part of their role was to make her health insurance premium payments to the Screen Actors Guild; Doherty claimed that their failure to make the premium payments in 2014 caused her health insurance to lapse until the re-enrollment period in 2015. When Doherty went in for a checkup in March of 2015, the cancer was discovered, at which time it had spread. In the lawsuit, Doherty indicated that if she had insurance, she would have been able to get the checkup sooner—the cancer would have been discovered, and she could have avoided chemotherapy and a mastectomy.
Under the IRS, actors are often classified as independent contractors, which comes with its own set of challenges. Although it is unclear what Doherty’s situation was, for many independent contractors, obtaining health insurance can be difficult. Trying to get health insurance as an independent contractor can be a costly and convoluted process. A 2020 Actors’ Equity Association survey indicated that “more than 80% of nonunion actors and stage managers in California have been misclassified as independent contractors.” A 2021 research study revealed that self-employment (which is what independent contractors are considered to be) was associated with a higher likelihood of being uninsured.
Doherty’s tragic situation invites a larger conversation about healthcare access and equity in the United States. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as “Obamacare,” was signed into law in 2010 and revolutionized healthcare access in two distinct ways: “creating health insurance marketplaces with federal financial assistance that reduces premiums and deductibles and by allowing states to expand Medicaid to adults with household incomes up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level.” The ACA helped reduce the number of uninsured Americans and expanded healthcare access to those most in need. It also helped close gaps in coverage for different populations, including those with pre-existing health conditions, lower-income individuals, part-time workers, and those from historically excluded and marginalized populations.
Tumblr media
Despite strides made through the ACA, healthcare access and equity are still persistent issues, especially within marginalized communities. Research from the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) examining 2010-2022 data indicated that in 2022, non-elderly American Indian and Alaska Natives (AIAN) and Hispanic people had the greatest uninsured rates (19.1% and 18% respectively). When compared with their white counterparts, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islanders (NHOPI) and Black people also had higher uninsured rates at 12.7% and 10%, respectively. The Commonwealth Fund reported that between 2013 and 2021, “states that expanded Medicaid eligibility had higher rates of insurance coverage and health care access, with smaller disparities between racial/ethnic groups and larger improvements, than states that didn’t expand Medicaid.” It’s important to note that if a Republican president is elected, Project 2025, the far-right policy proposal document, seeks to upend Medicaid as we know it by introducing limits on the amount of time that a person can receive Medicaid.
When peeling back the layers to examine these racial and ethnic differences in more detail, the Brookings Institute noted in 2020 that the refusal of several states to expand Medicaid could be one contributing factor. One 2017 research study found that some underrepresented racial groups were more likely to experience insurance loss than their white counterparts. The study indicated that for Black and Hispanic populations, specific trigger events were more likely, as well as “socioeconomic characteristics” that were linked to more insurance loss and slower insurance gain. The study also noted that in the U.S., health insurance access was associated with employment and and marriage and that Black and Hispanic populations were “disadvantaged in both areas.”
Equity in and access to healthcare is fundamental, but bias is omnipresent. Age bias, for example, is a pervasive issue in breast cancer treatment. Research also indicates that racial bias is a prevalent issue—because the current guidelines in breast cancer screenings are based on white populations, this can lead to a delayed diagnosis for women from non-white communities. Our health is one of our greatest assets and healthcare should be a basic human right, no matter what state or country you live in. As a society, we must ensure that healthcare is available, affordable and accessible to all citizens. After all, how can a country call itself great if so many of its citizens, especially those most marginalized and vulnerable, don’t have access to healthcare?

Molnupiravir May Offer Modest 6-Month Benefits for High-Risk COVID Patients - Published Sept 11, 2024

People with acute COVID-19 who took the antiviral drug molnupiravir (Lagevrio) reported modest improvements in symptoms, less time off from work or study, and less healthcare utilization at 6 months post-infection, a follow-up analysis of the prospective, open-label PANORAMIC trial suggested.
Among patients who received molnupiravir 800 mg twice per day plus usual care for 5 days after diagnosis with COVID-19, 8.5% reported persistent symptoms at 6 months compared with 11% who received usual care only (adjusted risk difference -2.5%), reported Christopher Butler, MBChB, MD, of the University of Oxford in England, and colleagues in Lancet Infectious Diseasesopens in a new tab or window.
At 3 months after treatment, use of healthcare or social services was also lower in the molnupiravir group at 14.1% versus 15.5% in the usual care group (adjusted risk difference -1.4%). There was a trend in the same direction at 6 months, but the adjusted risk difference was only -0.5%.
There were no differences in hospitalizations or deaths between the two groups at 3 and 6 months follow-up.
"This study was a secondary long-term analysis, and although we did not correct for multiplicity, the number of statistically superior outcomes make chance a very unlikely explanation of the results," the researchers wrote. "The trial design was pragmatic and open-label; therefore, participants were not masked and recovery and well-being outcomes were ascertained by self-reporting."
The study showed that the numbers needed to treat were high, noted co-author Victoria Harris, PhD, also of University of Oxford, in a press releaseopens in a new tab or window. "For instance, only one person would have less severe symptoms from a total of 53 people who took molnupiravir, and only one person would have used fewer NHS [National Health Service] services from a total of 71 people who took molnupiravir," she said.
Among participants who received molnupiravir, 17.9% reported having any time off from work or study at 3 months versus 22.4% in the usual care group, for an adjusted risk difference of -5.3%. At 6 months, 4.4% in the molnupiravir group reported having time off from work or study versus 5.4% in the usual treatment group (adjusted risk difference -1.1%), and about 91 patients would need to be treated to benefit one patient.
Molnupiravir is an expensive drug, Harris pointed out. In the U.S., a 5-day course costs about $1,000 opens in a new tab or windowwithout insurance coverage.
"Given the small additional number of participants who benefited from taking molnupiravir, compared to those who did not take the drug, long-term health benefits will need to be weighed up against costs and any unwanted effects," she emphasized.
The trial did not address the efficacy of molnupiravir in preventing long COVID, but Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, of the VA St. Louis Health Care System in Missouri, said in an accompanying editorialopens in a new tab or window that antivirals may one day play a role in long COVID treatment and prevention.
"The use of antivirals to reduce the risk of long COVID is grounded in the hypothesis that viral persistence and possible ongoing replication of SARS-CoV-2 are major mechanistic pathways responsible for long COVID," he commented. "Evidence for this hypothesis is growing." Studies have identified persistence of viral RNA or protein fragmentsopens in a new tab or window and the presence of T-cell activationopens in a new tab or window and double-stranded viral RNA months to years after infection with SARS-CoV-2, Al-Aly noted.
"The promising results from the PANORAMIC trial are consistent with results from well conducted observational analyses as they both converge on finding a modest effect of molnupiravir in reducing the risk of long COVID in high-risk individuals," Al-Aly wrote.
"Concerns, however, have been raised about the mutagenicity of molnupiravir," he pointed out. "Furthermore, effectiveness of molnupiravir or [other SARS-CoV-2 antivirals] in reducing risk of long COVID in low-risk populations, including younger individuals with no comorbid medical conditions, has not been evaluated," he cautioned.
The CDC recommendsopens in a new tab or window molnupiravir as an alternative to nirmatrelvir-ritonavir (Paxlovid) for the treatment of acute mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in non-pregnant adults at risk for severe disease, to be started within 5 days of symptom onset.
The PANORAMIC trial took place from December 2021 to April 2022 and included 25,783 participants who were randomly assigned to molnupiravir twice a day for 5 days plus usual care (n=12,821) or usual care alone (n=12,962) generally within 5 days of a COVID-19 infection.
To enroll, patients had to be either 50 years and older or 18 and older with at least one comorbidity. Mean age of participants was 56.6 years, 58.6% were female, and 93% had received at least three vaccine doses. Comorbidities included lung disease in 24%, hypertension in 22%, obesity in 15%, diabetes in 12%, a weakened immune system in 9%, and heart disease in 8%.
In the initial analysisopens in a new tab or window of the trial, molnupiravir failed to reduce the risk for hospitalization or death at 28 days from COVID-19 in high-risk, vaccinated outpatients, but did shorten recovery times from a median of 15 days to 9 days (HR 1.36).
Long-term follow-up data for the current analysis were available for about 89% of all participants -- about 92% in the treatment group and 87% in the usual care group.
Researchers contacted participants at 3 and 6 months and asked them to complete online or telephone questionnaires. Patients were asked to rate how well they felt, whether they had taken time off from work or study, or if they had been hospitalized. Patients also rated symptoms on a 4-point scale. Symptoms included fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell, headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, or feeling unwell.
The authors acknowledged that the open-label study design may have influenced patient self-reports of recovery and well-being. They also emphasized that the study was not an efficacy trial.

Quality Time Pt. 1
Often when I get really into a fandom, my mind turns to figuring out what the love languages of various characters are. For those who are new, love languages are the “language” by which you express and perceive love (whether platonic or romantic), and the five languages, as outlined by Gary Chapman, are Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Gifts, Acts of Service, and Touch. Everyone naturally has one main language (although they can branch out into others), and failure to have a loved one “speak” your language can result in a feeling of being unloved, even though said loved one might be “speaking” their language to you without you being aware of it.
As the creator of IP will already have a love language, it’s not surprising that this can seep into their writings, but sometimes multiple characters in a single IP can seem to develop their own various languages without a conscious act of the creator. Sometimes this can be evident by studying the patterns and behavior of the character: how they express love, what makes them feel loved, what makes them feel rejected, etc..
Peanuts is no exception. How Charlie Brown expresses love is generally different from how Snoopy will express love, and how Lucy expresses love will be different from how Schroeder expresses love — but, then again, maybe it’s not quite so different after all.
Although the strip for 4/6/56 isn’t about love languages, the “miscommunication” in how Lucy and Schroeder prefer to enjoy music led me to notice a distinction in how they interact with the things they like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Schroeder’s idea of enjoying good music is to be quiet and listen to it. Lucy’s idea is to interact with it, whether through dancing, marching or whistling. They are both capable of enjoying classical music (yes, even Lucy has been known to like some pieces), but they have different ways of doing so, and this leads to “miscommunication.”
(To be fair. Schroeder has been known to dance to music that he likes, but generally speaking he prefers to listen quietly.)

Lucy is an extrovert whose love language is likely Quality Time; Schroeder is an introvert whose love language is also likely Quality Time. Both respond favorably to the right kinds of attention and can express love through spending time with those they care about.
In fact, Lucy’s negative reaction to being ignored and rejected is a big indicator that her love language could be Quality Time. Of course, no child likes to be ignored and rejected, regardless of their love language, but bear in mind that for someone whose love language is Quality Time, they will be even more hurt by a denial of attention and togetherness, since that’s essentially telling them that they aren’t loved. We can see hints of this issue in Lucy’s home life, such as how her parents are sometimes too busy to give her the attention she needs. As a result Lucy sometimes feels unloved, and she acts out in order to be noticed.

We don’t see very many examples of Schroeder being denied Quality Time; however, there is a possible indication of his need for companionship in the following strip from 1963. Schroeder was recovering from the chicken pox, but instead of enjoying self-seclusion in front of his piano as one would expect, Schroeder came to the ball field to watch his friends play.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bear in mind, he often practices music for hours indoors. At first glance a reader might hypothesize that staying inside during the chicken pox wouldn’t be that hard on Schroeder, but sickness and isolation probably made him long for companionship and amusement, so he ventured out to where his friends would be. Even this passive interaction of merely watching a baseball game while his friends played could indicate that he needs Quality Time with people.
We can see hints of this as far back as his younger days when he provides music for his friends to sing and dance to.

Tumblr media
Delving further, two of the biggest indicators of how close he is to a friend are whether he allows them to lean on his piano and how much time he spends with them when he’s away from his piano. (As an introvert, his mental energy would be valuable to him.)
1/3/88 — We know he’s good friends with Charlie Brown because he repeatedly lets Charlie Brown lean on his piano.

8/7/84 — Even Peppermint Patty occasionally leans on his piano.
Tumblr media
By now you might be asking, “If Lucy and Schroeder have compatible love languages, why doesn’t Schroeder respond more favorably to her? Shouldn’t he feel more affection toward her if she’s speaking his language?”

Transiting Vesta exits retrograde zone
Wednesday, April 24, 2024, 03:07 UT, 7°30’ Cancer
Caveat - this may not have much of an impact on you, unless Vesta is prominent in your chart (closely in aspect to the Sun, the Moon, &/or an angle).
Vesta now moves from being an instigator, to being “just” a trigger. She’s very comfortable in Cancer - her symbol is the hearth flame - if we did the Vesta Rx work, we can meet the challenges and find creative solutions.
Saturday, May 11 - Vesta/Cancer square North Node/Aries and South Node/Libra, 13°54’. This has a flavor of conflict between familial expectations versus personal preferences.
Wednesday, May 22 - Vesta/Cancer trine Saturn/Pisces, 18°15’. Great for self-discipline, duty, seriousness of purpose, and hard work.
Saturday, June 1 - Vesta/Cancer square Chiron/Aries, 22°17’. Woundedness gets in the way of spiritual development - maybe family problems.
Friday, June 7 - Vesta/Cancer sextile Uranus/Taurus, 24°30’. Scientific vision, possibly ecological - dealing with sustainability.
Saturday, June 8 - Vesta/Cancer square Eris/Aries, 25°20’. Disruptions to our focus and ability to concentrate.
Wednesday, June 19 - Vesta/Cancer trine Neptune/Pisces, 29°53’. A great spiritual boost, giving service to others in the community.
Vesta’s next retrograde zone begins on January 16, 2025, at 5°21’ Scorpio.
