Do you think yhe Terry face mask makes a difference? Also what are your current fave beauty products if you don't mind💞
I mean—your milage may vary, but when I woke up this morning my skin was a little plumper and more hydrated than usual (which is what I buy the masks for!) so, sure! BUT!!! It’s a pricey mask ($29 AUD), so I only buy them occasionally, for a little pampering (or to pregame an event!)! I really like sheet masks in general because they make a mundane routine (cleaning your face) more fun, but most of the time I buy Korean ones, which are way cheaper and just as (if not more!) effective! My skin concerns might be different to yours, but I buy masks to address one of several problems:
1. I’m having a breakout, and need my skin to calm the fuck down (teatree, generally, something that feels antiseptic)
2. I’m having a reaction, and need my skin to calm the fuck down (ingredients that will soothe it, cool down the redness!)
3. I’m tired and feel dry (so, something that feels nourishing or at least gives me an excuse to go lie down in a dark room and pretend I’m in a coffin for 15 minutes)
I don’t worry about anti-aging promises, or anything like that—sunscreen is the only thing I use that might even address that, and even then that’s less “anti-aging” and more “holy shit I don’t want the face doctor to dig cancer spots out of my face” LOL. As a whole I hate the whole, “omg you HAVE to prevent any visible signs of aging!!! don’t smile, don’t frown, don’t use your skin!!!” rhetoric that skincare and beauty in general markets itself off of. Fear mongering!!! A few lines and squiggles and saggy bits and pocks and divets make us interesting and human and idk—we’re lucky we get to age. 🥺
I use eye patches mostly for psychological reasons lmfao—like when I’ve been staring at a screen for too hard and too long. I have deep-set eye bags that aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, so I don’t bother with anything that claims much more than just “it’ll feel nice for a few minutes” lmaooo. The Patchology Rosé ones were a impulse buy, but they were fun!
After I saw your ask, though, I went and rummaged around in my drawers—I’m going to stay clear of anything too skincare-y, because YMMV, and I won’t include perfumes for the same reason, but after some thought, here’s my current faves:
Tumblr media
From left-to-right, top-to-bottom!
1. Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream Mask
2. Cancer Council Face Day Wear SPF50+ Serum (Sunscreen!)
3. Chantecaille Cheek Gelée Blush (I wear Vibrant! I’m also a big fan of their skincare range—I just repurchased the Hibiscus Smoothing Mask, it’s an exfoliator!)
4. Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush + Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation (I have Orchid Rose, in the blush, and the foundation is a light-to-medium coverage!)
5. Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder
6. Shiseido ColourGel Lip Balm (the colour I have is Redwood! It’s orangey on me. Their eyeshadows are fun to play with and come in single pans, but I got into Shiseido because of their toner! I actually have a complimentary service at Mecca Cosmetica that I need to use—I normally just let them slide away bc I like doing my own makeup LOL, but the girl serving me in-store on Friday was like, “nooo, you should use it! We can play with the Shiseido stuff!” so I was like okeee LOL fml im so easily led it’s not funny 😭)
7. Tatcha The Silk Canvas Primer (it’s novel to play with lmaooo, but it does a decent job! I like how it smells! I originally wanted the ELF putty—but every Kmart I went to was sold out, and a friend was like, oh, that’s a dupe for the Tatcha one so I was like, oke, lmaooo)
8. Caudalíe Grape Water Face Mist (Caudalíe is fun and I love the scent, but be wary of overpaying for it lmfao. I think people see French brands and are like ooooo, so fancy, but it’s basically a pharmacy brand! A great one, don’t get me wrong, but if you’re buying it for like three times the price then just—don’t, LOL. I bought the Grape Water on impulse from Sephora, because I needed a new face spray—but tbh unless you’re like, in France for a bit and walk past a store or a Citypharma then there are other, more easily accessible brands!!! Saying that, I live by their hand cream—it smells like sherbet and it’s such a delight to put on!! i like to give myself lil hand massages when I use it and i’m almost out and im going to be DEVASTATED when it’s gone. 🥹)
I haven’t listed any eye-products because I’m trying to find a mascara that doesn’t try to murder me while driving by stinging my eyes and smearing everywhere and then making the stinging worse which makes me tear up while I’m flying down the goddamn highway—but eyeshadow wise, I only have a couple of palettes, and a few single-pan shades! I have a Pat McGrath Mothership palette (Mothership II, sublime), which is my absolute favourite. And a Chanel quad, which is nice and portable! And then I impulse bought the Huda Rose Quartz palette last year, literally days before I sprained my ankle and ruined my life. I haven’t had much of a chance to wear it since! The colours are very dreamy—shimmery lavenders and pinks and I like the romance of the idea of wearing them, but—oh my God I just gave myself an idea for something. Maybe an anime boyfriend smearing our shimmery eyeshadow with his thumb??? hmmm hmm.

Birthday Gift Ideas For Women
If you are searching for birthday gift ideas for a woman, you should consider a pair of white shoes. These shoes are perfect for wearing with school uniforms. However, you might find that they are quite tight, so it is recommended to buy a half-size up. The sole of these shoes is not that durable, but they are still quite comfortable. Another great option for birthday gift ideas for a female is a pair of best white shoes for women. They are the most famous running shoe in history, and are perfect birthday gift ideas for 18 year-old women.
·      Jewellery
If you're shopping for a birthday gift for a woman, there are several choices you can make. For example, you could give her a Cartier watch, which is a timeless classic. Or, you could give her a Piaget Limelight Gala necklace, which sparkles with diamonds. If you're looking for a personal gift, you could also give her a locket of a special memory.
If you're unsure of what to buy her, you can always ask her what color she wears. For example, if she likes gold, you can get her a rose gold bracelet or a yellow gold watch. You can also choose a piece with an engraved message or her birthstone.
·      Skin products
For birthday gift ideas for women, look no further than skin care products. Women are extremely particular about their skin and beauty products are a great gift idea. You can purchase a variety of skin care products for women, including lotion sets, facial cleansers, and perfumes. Perfume sets also make beautiful birthday presents and can give the recipient a variety of choices. Buying different kinds of skincare products for different skin types is a great way to ensure your gift will be appreciated.
If your loved one has been looking for a new skin care product, consider giving her a multi-step skincare set. Not every woman will have time to do a full skin care regimen, so a set of skin products she can use regularly will go a long way. A simple cleanser and moisturizer can work wonders on dry skin. You can find skincare gift sets from many top brands, such as Sunday Riley's Good Genes and Tatcha's The Dewy Skin Cream.
·      Personalized hamper
Gift baskets are an elegant way to express your feelings, but they can be tricky to find the perfect gift. A thoughtful gift basket will contain a mix of goodies such as chocolates, candies, and candles. You can even add a personalized message to the basket to add a personal touch. For example, a gift basket with a spa set could include rose body polish, lavender soaking salts, and cocoa and cinnamon loose leaf tea. The items in the basket will also come in a beautiful gift box with a ribbon.
Another gift idea for a woman is a hamper filled with delicious treats. A gourmet chocolate lover would be delighted by a deluxe hamper filled with delicious chocolates. The chocolates could include the 'Tart' berry and hazelnut praline, Dry Gin chocolate, or St. Ali cold-brew coffee.

Tell us about what skincare ingredients and products you love!
Okay, so I LOVE TALKING SKINCARE. This is a huge topic for me and I often write up a blog post once a year where i recommend skin care products. So here is this year’s recommendation! An insanelyyyyy long and detailed post nobody asked for!! HERE WE GO:
I am a long time skincare advocate...before it really blew up and people started really getting to know more about their products and ingredients. I’ve just always had very acne-prone skin so I’ve had to pay attention to what products and ingredients I was using and how their formulas worked for me. As a result, over the years I tried A SHIT TON of products. Many expensive, fancy, high end, etc. But now I have my skincare routine down to a much more manageable and quality ingredient list. Obviously everyone’s skin is different...but this is what I use on a regular basis these days:
Serums:
- Krave Beauty’s Great Barrier Relief Serum: Honestly, this is THE SHIT. My favorite moisturizing serum to really help balance your skins hydration barrier and stay hydrated. It’s thicker and almost feels like a moisturizer. It’s so great.  - The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Drops: Niacinamide is an amazing ingredient for your skin and can help a tremendous amount with clearing the skin, resurfacing, fading scars, and more. This really does a good job helping with my acne, so i really recommend to anyone. And I am pretty sure it’s like $5 cause it’s from the ordinary.
Moisturizers:
- CeraVe Moisturizing Cream: It’s a very cheap drug store moisturizer that has good, clean ingredients. After using fancy moisturizers for years, I finally gave into my dermatologist’s recommended lotion. LOL. They do have a lotion that is lighter, but my skin tends to be dryer, especially in the winter so I use the cream not the lotion. It’s thicker. (For high end junkies--it’s like comparing Drunk Elephant’s LaLa Retro to their Protini cream). I also sometimes throw in drops of a marula oil into this cream if I am really dry. Make myself a little face smoothie.
Eye/Lip Creams:
- Mario Badescu Ceramide Herbal Eye Cream: Now honestly, I still haven’t found my perfect eye cream yet...but I have used this one for a few years now. It moisturizes well and is cheap to buy. It’s probs not the most effective but at least I am moisturizing my eye area. One day I will take on more eye creams that target certain things, but that is one day when I have money to spend lmao. -Glossier Bubblewrap Lip/Eye Cream: This is a very unique moisturizing product that is meant for sensitive skin like your eye area and lips. It does say it plumps a bit, which I don’t ever feel a plumping effect, but I do love to use it on my lips. It’s so moisturizing and is kind of like using a primer before you apply chapstick or lipstick.
Exfoliators:
- Glossier Solution: The OG chemical exfoliant I tried and loved. These types of products aren’t great for everyone, and may have to be used less or more depending on skin type, but as an acne-prone human, I love a chemical exfoliant. This works and lasts a long while.
- Krave Beauty’s Kale-Lalu_AHA: Another chemical exfoliant. I recently tried this one because I do believe Krave Beauty uses better ingredients than Glossier Skin typically does (no shade tho). They were close in price, so I made the switch and have enjoyed the results so far. The packaging is also beautiful.
- Dr. Brant Microdermabrasion Exfoliant: This is NOT a chemical peel, this has aluminum oxyde crystals in it to polish the skin like a normal exfoliant would. It also has a lot of ingredients that help renew and refresh the skin while exfoliating. Now this product is HELLA expensive...I only have it because I once bought it for way cheaper when I had a subscription box. I don’t know if I would spend the full $80 bucks on it, but your skin does feel smooth.
- Tatcha The Deep Polish: This is an enzyme powder that you mix with water and exfoliate fro there. It is from when I used to buy the highest end products in hopes it would help my skin. It is pricey, but again does leave your skin feeling soft. So I rotate it in from time to time.
Masks:
- The Ordinary’s AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution: AKA THE BLOOD MASK. Now hugely popular on social media, the “blood mask” is a chemical mask that peels off dead skin and essentially works to eliminate the top layers of your skin and begin rejuvenating a fresher layer for softer, healthier, plumper skin. I do this once a week and it is way cheap. I can compare it to Drunk Elephant’s Sukari Babyfacial and it definitely beats that expensive version.
- Glow Recipe’s Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask: This is an overnight moisturizing mask that you simply wash off in the morning. It really helps lock in moisture and feels nice on the skin. I use this when I am feeling really dry.
- Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask: This one you have to mix the dry clay mixture with water and apple cider vinegar to create a goo that you can then let dry on your face. It may be intense for some, but I find it really helps dry out my acne spots and reduce redness in my skin. It’s always a fun one to do with other people too because you do have to prepare it. Good sleepover activity.
- GlamGlow Bubble Sheet Mask:  This one is honestly more so used for when I am traveling and want to keep a mask on hand or when I am having a fun girls night or something. It’s a bubble mask--so to me that just means fun. I typically avoid sheet masks (unless I am traveling) because I think you end up throwing a way a lot of product you are paying for. But this one is fun, it’s cute, it’s different. I don’t notice a huge change in my skin tbh, but it is a fun activity for girls night.
Honorable Mention/Random Products:
- Youth to the People’s Kale and Green Tea Superfood Cleanser: I stayed away from this one for a long time because it’s expensive and I could rationalize buying such an expensive cleanser, but I got a gift card to Sephora and finally decided to try it. And ya know what?? I guess I am fancy now because I really love it. It does not overly strip your skin at all, and for the first time in my life I really know what that means. It’s so great, it smells so good. Ugh. Can’t get enough of this bougie bitch of a face wash.
- The Inkey List Retinol Cream: A recent purchase, but I have enjoyed seeing the results. Everyone imo should be using an eye cream and a retinol. This is a nice introduction to retinol, so I recommend to those looking for one.
- Glossier Mint Balm Dot Com Chapstick: THIS AGAIN--IS THE SHIT. Many will say they would never spend more than two bucks but one tube of their’s is seven bucks and it is WORTH IT. I buy the three pack once a year and i’m good. This is the best chapstick you will literally ever use. Fucking buy it. If I could tell you only three products that are a must from this list this would be one of them. (the other two would be great barrier relief and the kale cleanser)
- Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: I like this lip mask, it’s not needed everynight, but I do like to use a lip exfoliant (made or buy one, whatever) and then use this to really retextures my lips.
- Bag Balm: Now this is a very unusual product to recommend lmaooo. Originally, bag balm is used for chapped cow udders on farms--which is how I discovered it. Farmers eventually noticed that it helped your skin retain moisture and repair cracked skin in their hands. So now it is known as a good thick ass cream for hands and feet. Now this shit is again--used on cows originally, so the formula feels thick and greasy. I like putting it on at night and letting it soak in for a while as I lay on my phone. It really works--I swear to you.
- Sagely CBD Cream: I use their relief and recovery crea which smells like lavender and has a cooling effect when applied to the skin (kinda like biofreeze or icyhot would). This is only a 50mg CBD lotion, but I do like it.
- Mad Ritual CBD Muscle Recovery Balm: Now this is thick and definitely a balm, not a cream. It is much higher strength though, so I break it out when needed and a little goes a long way. This one is 200mg of CBD.
- Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: This drying lotion is now so popular but has been a staple of mine for at least a decade now. You leave it on over night and it really does dry up and reduce zit size. Helps a lot. There must be a reason why super models are told to use this shit before a runway show.
- Tatcha The Essence: Essences are a new and kind of weird thing, kinda like priming the skin to allow for better absorption of a product. Now this product I received as a Christmas gift one year, but I am pretty sure it’s like $100...breaking the bank as always, tatcha. Anyway, it does allow for better absorption of products and feels light and refreshing on the skin. One bottle has lasted me two years now. I don’t know if I would recommend it, but I do use it somewhat regularly and it does make you feel like a bougie bitch.
AND THAT IS THE END. Sorry that was soooo long. But like I said, I do a write up once a year of my skincare products anyway. So there you guys have it!! If you have any questions at all about your skin or skincare routine , honestly hit me up. Over the years I have slowly has friends come to me. Once I collect all of the I will have all of the infinity stones lmao.

New Skincare for January 2020
Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Microneedling Patches
Tumblr media
Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Microneedling Patches
Peace Out Wrinkles Anti-Wrinkle Microneedling Patches are innovative patches that work like an overnight spot treatment anywhere you want to target wrinkles (such as the forehead, crow's feet or smile lines). Each one contains 450 self-dissolving hyaluronic acid microneedles that create pathways for the active ingredients to penetrate. Think: retinol, vitamin C and an array of peptides. To get results, they need to be worn for at least six hours, twice a week. So genius!
Sobel Skin Rx 4.5% Retinol Night Treatment
Tumblr media
Sobel Skin Rx 4.5% Retinol Night Treatment
Sobel Skin Rx 4.5% Retinol Night Treatment is an anti-aging retinoid serum formulated from gentle, non-toxic ingredients. It was developed by Dr. Howard Sobel, a NYC-based dermatologist whose new active clean skincare line JUST launched at Sephora. Despite the name, it contains not retinol but hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR), a next-gen retinoic acid ester that causes little to no irritation. So I believe it should be comparable in strength to The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane, but the texture is a lotion, not an oil.
(Note for Canadians: Any retinoids in concentrations equivalent to more than one percent retinol are restricted by Health Canada... so we can't buy this, unfortunately!)
The Inkey List PHA Toner
Tumblr media
The Inkey List PHA Toner
The Inkey List PHA Toner is an ultra-mild exfoliating and brightening toner for all skin types, especially sensitive. It's named for its three percent concentration of polyhydroxy acids (PHAs), which are like AHAs but more gentle. Bonus: It also has three percent niacinamide for controlling redness, oil and blemishes.
Tatcha The Serum Stick
Tumblr media
Tatcha The Serum Stick
Tatcha The Serum Stick is a moisturizer in solid balm form that you can swipe on over or under makeup to hydrate dry skin. It's made up of 80 percent squalane; there's also beeswax, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. This would be ideal for airplane travel, or to carry in your handbag for moisture on the go!
Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask
Tumblr media
Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask
Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask is an overnight moisturizing mask with cooling properties. It's meant to plump skin, calm redness and repair the skin barrier, using ingredients such as squalane, propanediol, niacinamide and olive oil esters. The "F" stands for "vitamin F," a.k.a. linolenic and linoleic acids, which are encapsulated to preserve freshness.
Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum
Tumblr media
Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum
Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum is a gentle exfoliating serum that can be worn underneath your moisturizer every night. It targets dead skin with a 10 percent concentration of lactic acid, while squalane (the brand's signature ingredient) and glycerin deliver weightless hydration.
Sobel Skin Rx 15% Niacinamide Gel Serum
Tumblr media
Sobel Skin Rx 15% Niacinamide Gel Serum
Sobel Skin Rx 15% Niacinamide Gel Serum is a hydrating, brightening, pore-tightening and anti-wrinkle treatment for all skin types. That's the power of niacinamide—and this gel-like serum boasts the highest concentration I've seen, 15 percent. The other ingredients include glycerin, allantoin, chamomile and cucumber extract.
Dr. Barbara Sturm Lifting Serum
Tumblr media
Dr. Barbara Sturm Lifting Serum
Dr. Barbara Sturm Lifting Serum is a firming and tightening serum that promises a smoother, more lifted look within an hour of application, with the results lasting several hours. So it's definitely something you'd use before an important event, but also has long-term benefits thanks to the purslane, hyaluronic acid and algae extracts.
Farmacy Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream
Tumblr media
Farmacy Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream
Farmacy Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream is a hydrating and brightening eye cream that may help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and dark circles. It targets the latter with four percent vitamin C (the derivatives ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate and glyceryl ascorbate as well as cherry extract). It also contains caffeine and hyaluronic acid.
Herbivore Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial
Tumblr media
Herbivore Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial
Herbivore Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial is a jelly-textured mask to exfoliate and brighten dull skin, inspired by the Serum of the same name. Since it's all-natural, the acids are derived from sources such as bilberry, sugarcane and willow bark (which makes them gentler than straight glycolic or salicylic acid). You're meant to use this once or twice per week.
Tarte Knockout Daily Exfoliating Cleanser
Tumblr media
Tarte Knockout Daily Exfoliating Cleanser
Tarte Knockout Daily Exfoliating Cleanser is an exfoliating gel cleanser for normal to oily skin. It's sulfate-free, produces a silky lather, and helps to remove dead skin using lactic, glycolic and salicylic acids. (It obviously won't be as strong an exfoliation as the matching Knockout Tingling Treatment toner, which you leave on.)
Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream
Tumblr media
Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream
Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream is a lightweight and silicone-free moisturizer made from clean ingredients and less than one percent synthetic fragrance. Glycerin, coconut alkanes and squalane do most of the hydrating, and it also has banana water, magnesium and Centella Asiatica extract to calm irritation.
Dr. Dennis Gross Stress Rescue Super Serum
Tumblr media
Dr. Dennis Gross Stress Rescue Super Serum
Dr. Dennis Gross Stress Rescue Super Serum is an anti-aging serum designed to strengthen the skin's microbiome and combat signs of stress such as worry lines, redness and breakouts. The star ingredient is niacinamide (although we don't know the concentration), combined with a superfood complex of mushroom, maca root, cacao and goji berry.
January Labs Triple Active Reclaiming Serum
Tumblr media
January Labs Triple Active Reclaiming Serum
January Labs Triple Active Reclaiming Serum is a clean anti-aging serum that's mild enough for sensitive skin. Its active ingredients include niacinamide, retinol, sodium ascorbyl phosphate (a vitamin C derivative) and lactic acid, combined with aloe vera and glycerin for moisture. Niacinamide is probably doing most of the work here (since there's two percent); the retinol concentration is only 0.025 percent (from the 0.5 percent RetiStar, the same complex as The Inkey List Retinol).
First Aid Beauty FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask
Tumblr media
First Aid Beauty FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask
First Aid Beauty FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask is a soothing and moisturizing mask for dry skin that's in need of some TLC. Shea butter, cocoa butter and fatty alcohols give it a creamy, nourishing texture, while arnica, calendula and Centella Asiatica help to calm sensitivity.

Besides hydrating with glycerin, propanediol, fatty alcohols and shea butter, it also brightens with three forms of vitamin C (ethyl ascorbic acid, tetrahexydecyl ascorbate and ascorbic acid). Although it's not silicone-free or fragrance-free, both are far down on the ingredients list.

my skincare routine
Tumblr media
Absolutely no one: Influencer: So a lot of you have been asking me about my skincare routine...
Guess I have hopped on this meme bandwagon ;-)
I initially wasn’t sure if I should even write about my nightly skincare routine because skincare routines are so subjective to each individual. But I thought that it would be nice to share what are my holy grail products that I love and have, and will re-purchase over and over again.
I definitely use a wider range of products than what is pictured here; I often swap serums and moisturizers depending on my mood, but there are some staples that I love so much that I wouldn’t want to try anything else.
I have been told that I have a pretty crazy skincare routine, but skincare to me is pretty therapeutic, so it’s not too much of a hassle. My go-to toner right now is the FRESH Rose Floral Toner. Ever since I tried this 1-2 years ago, I have not used anything else. Really helps that this toner lasts so long despite how generous I am with it. Sometimes I buy travel sizes of different toners to try, but it ends up unused because I just love this toner so much. Some of my friends prefer the Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner because it has more benefits, but I like to spritz on my toner, which is why I opted for this instead. However, I might switch to try the other one after I finally finish my current bottle (I’m left with 1/3, so hopefully by the end of the year).
I usually then exfoliate with PRISM, followed by a serum of my choice. I alternate between Glossier’s Super Glow, the It’s Skin Effectors, or the Real Propolis Ampoule from Answer19+ - this Korean brand that is pretty underrated as well. What I love about using serums is that it provides your skin with a lot more nutrients than if you just use a plain moisturiser. I always thought that using serums with moisturisers might be too much for the skin, but after using both for maybe around a year now, you can really see the benefits, depending on what sort of serum + moisturizer combination you choose. Personally, my skin isn't as dull as it used to be, and I find myself feeling more comfortable in my bare skin because of it.
Sometimes in between steps, I also use a mist to refresh the skin. I love Pixi’s Hydrating Milky Mist because it just feels like airy clouds of hydrating goodness just cooling my face. I spray this all the time - in between my routine, and even after I put on oil, just for the fun of it. Sometimes, when I don’t want to have such a heavy routine, I substitute this mist as my moisturizer instead. This mist is pretty affordable at $22 SGD, and I have already repurchased this after quickly running out of my first bottle. I also have Herbivore’s Rose Hibiscus Facial Mist, but this one is still my favourite.
For moisturiser, I really love Origins’ Original Skin Matte Moisturizer with Willowherb. I was so worried when I first got this product because a matte moisturizer is usually catered for the oily skinned, which I am not. However, this moisturiser is gentle, works very well on my skin without having me feel overly greasy or sticky, and it works really well with the brightening serums I use. If I want something gentler and more hydrating, I use Laneige’s Lavender Water Sleeping Mask, which also works wonders. I am definitely repurchasing these two moisturisers when I finally run out. I have also tried alternatives like Belif’s Aqua Bomb, or the Tatcha Water Cream, but the former I find too gel-like and the latter too expensive.
My eye cream and lip balm are both from Laneige - simply because it’s affordable, and easy to use. The Water Bank Eye Gel EX is nothing miraculous, but it does it’s job to moisturize my under eyes. Does it work wonders in getting rid of my eyebags and fine lines? Not really. But I think it does work as a preventive measure because since using it I haven’t been developing even more wrinkles around my under eyes.
The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask however, is the bomb. This works so much better than a regular lip balm. It works really well for both the humid weather here, as well as in super dry winters when I travel. I love to slather a thick layer of the lip mask before I sleep, and I will wake up to a fresh pair of lips that are hydrated and supple. Plus, they also come in different scents. I have both the Berry (pictured here) and the Vanilla lip balm. My favourite is the Vanilla one, but unfortunately they might be discontinuing it so I might have to purchase the Berry scented one for future use. This lip mask actually also has a ton of good reviews all round, so this might be the one product to check out if you’re looking to amp up your current routine.
Lastly, facial oils! I think everyone’s biggest initial concern when using facial oils is that it’s very ironic. We all want to avoid looking greasy and oily, but using facial oil is alright? When first researching on it, facial oils are said to help lock in the moisture and nutrients from your previous skincare steps, and this is so true. My first facial oil was Sunday Riley’s Juno Face Oil, and while this product has had mixed reviews on its effectiveness, I found that it does moisturise my skin and help magnify the benefits of the other skincare products I use in tandem with the oil. However, I don’t really like the smell of it - it smells kind of herby and earthy which is slightly off putting.  While it’s not necessarily a miracle worker, I would say that I am pretty happy with it and might repurchase because I have finished this already.
On a side note, I am quite picky with my face oils because I once had an allergic reaction to Drunk Elephant’s Marula Oil, one of the oils that is widely acclaimed in the beauty world. Because of that, I tend to be more careful with the sort of oils I apply on my face. The other oil that I use regularly is Pixi’s Rose Oil Blend that smells amazing and is also not too bad. It’s also much cheaper than Sunday Riley, so if you are interested in trying facial oils, this oil might be a better first product to use. Other products that I am looking to try would be Herbivore’s Orchid Facial Oil - this smells really good and I have heard good reviews about this: for both its price point and product quality, so I am tempted to try this for my next facial oil purchase.
Overall though, it’s not necessary to incorporate that many steps in your skincare routine. Ultimately your skincare routine should be personalised to what you think is best for you, and not just a one-size-fits-all solution. For instance, you can include masking as a step instead (I have this additional step most of the time) and take out serums if you don’t want to layer on so many things. Or if you're like my mum who doesn’t believe in the effects of facial oil, you don’t have to do it as well. The point is really to find a good mix of products that synergize well together to really bring about the best benefits for your skin. If you’re dry-skinned, have more hydrating products in the mix. If you have oily skin that is prone to breakouts, use more balancing products that aim to calm and soothe any redness and infection. I would also recommend adding a dash of anti-aging properties once in awhile just to prevent any serious damage before it’s too late.
But yes - skincare shouldn’t be a hassle, and it definitely shouldn’t be an obligation! Although not all of us are blessed with good skin and will need to take time to get a good routine that works, when you get to that stage where you feel good about your bare skin, you will know that it’s worth it.

My Tatcha Review (Still Updating)
I've heard so much about Tatcha, a very overpriced skin care. I am trying out samples and as they come in, making my assessment if they are worth the full price. Items are either worth it, a splurge (aka do not buy if on a budget) or a no-go.
My skin type is normal/dry.
The Water Cream - Feels lovely and absorbs into my skin. My skin felt soft without feeling like there was anything on top of my skin. I am impressed with how it works. This is a splurge. I would use in the day time underneath a sunscreen.
The Rice Polish: Calming - I don't know if the type matters (calming vs classic vs etc), but wow! This really impressed me. It left my skin feeling squeaky clean without feeling stripped. And my skin felt very smooth. I just never experienced my skin feeling this way before. It literally felt polished! This is worth it for me. Adding to my budget. Since you don't need much powder, it seems like an item that should last. My sample should probably last me. I plan to use a few times a week.
Kissu Lip Mask: This is now my go-to lip balm. As for a night time lip treatment, Langiege is better. But for day time, I love it. The consistency, staying power, and feeling of moisture I feel on my lips. This is a splurge item.
Silk Peony: I don't really notice anything with this eye cream. As a recommedation, I would have to say "no go". I'm literally just using it to stay on brand and see if it works over time. My sample should last me at least the rest of the year I think.
The Pearl: WORTH IT. This is like an under eye concealer. It is amazing. It looks like I have nothing under my eye. My dark "bags" are just gone. No creasing. A little dab will do. My sample should last me like the rest of the year (I don't use daily). Really impressed. Not interested in concealer from any other brand. Great for those who aren't keen on taking time for makeup or like the no-makeup-makeup look.
UPCOMING:
Cleansing oil
Dewy cream
Essence
Violet-C radiance mask
Silk canvas

Hey Rebecca, I need a moisturiser! My skin is both oily and dry somehow and I do get spots relatively easily. my main problem is when I buy a moisturiser for oily or combo skin it doesn’t give enough moisture and it dries my skin to try make it matte which I don’t want, but I’m scared of using creams that are too thick and greasy and will clog my enlarged pores/blackheads! Are there any specific ingredients I should avoid/use, or any recommended products? I hate silicone products.

10 Steps?! Where do I start?! 😖
Tumblr media
I thought this was such a good question that it deserved its own post! You don’t simply wake up one day with a 10 step routine. You also shouldn’t buy all 10 steps at once (despite the temptation)! A full 10 step routine can be daunting for someone just dipping their toes into the KBeauty scene. So this poses the question:
Where do I start?
Well, the answer is with the essentials. If you’ve read my past posts, there’s 3 things I always stress: 1) Proper cleansing 2) Moisturizing and 3) Sun Care. These things are essential to skin health! I’d say work on the first two first, and then proceed to the last.
1. Proper Cleansing
Two products that you need for this step are an oil cleanser and a second cleanser. The oil cleanser cleanses deep to remove oil-based impurities while the second cleanser comes through and washes everything away.
I’d recommend to start:
Drugstore Brands:
Oil Cleanser: The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, Simple Skincare Hydrating Cleansing Oil, Pixi By Petra + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse (has both 1st and 2nd cleanse)
Second Cleanser: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, La Roche-Posay Toleraine Hydrating Gentle Cleanser, Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleansing Face Wash
High End:
Oil Cleanser: Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil, Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, Eve Lom Cleanser
Second Cleanser: Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser, Tatcha The Deep Cleanse
Asian Beauty Brands:
Oil Cleanser: Heimish All Clean Balm, DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, Blossom Jeju Camellia Soombi Cleansing Oil
Second Cleanser: Cosrx Good Morning Low pH Gel Cleanser, Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam, J.One Jelly Cleanser
2. Moisturizer
Everyone needs to moisturize. I don’t care if you’re oilier than fried chicken, you need a moisturizer. This is a basic step in adding back the moisture that you lose from proper cleansing.
Drugstore Brands:
CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Facial Moisturizer, Physicians Formula Oil Elixir
High End:
Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Cream, Sunday Riley Juno Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil, Herbivore Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Crème
Asian Beauty Brands:
Cosrx Oil‑Free Ultra‑Moisturizing Lotion, Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream, Belif The True Cream Moisturizing/Aqua Bomb
3. Sunscreen
Protecting your skin from the sun is essential to good skin health. It prevents signs of aging, helps to fade hyperpigmentation, and reduces risk for skin cancer. It may be difficult for you to find a sunscreen that works well for you, so I suggest trying to incorporate this after the above 3 products. In this category, Asian sunscreens can’t be beat as far as price:quality goes.
Drugstore Brands:
Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50, La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral 50 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid with Zinc Oxide SPF 50, Differin Oil Control Moisturizer With Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30
High End:
Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte™ Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30, Murad Invisiblur™ Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PA+++, Coola Full Spectrum 360° Sun Silk Drops SPF 30
Asian Beauty Brands:
Make P:rem UV Defense Me Capsule Sun Gel SPF 50/ PA+++, Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF 50+/ PA+++, Innisfree Aqua UV Protection Cream Water Drop SPF 50+/PA++++
Always patch test products and introduce them one at a time! None of these products should cause “purging”, so if you break out from them, discontinue use. Be patient!
TL;DR: To start your skin care routine, you need 2-step cleansing, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Focus on incorporating these products into your routine first before continuing on in your 10 step adventure.

At 35, I Started Caring About My Skin — Here’s My Routine
Tumblr media
The hardest thing about traveling so often is keeping a regular, healthy diet and a skincare routine compatible with TSA requirements and my aging self. I recently turned 36, and I’m embarrassed to admit I didn’t truly get serious about caring for my skin until about 18 months ago. That said, better late than never (right? RIGHT?), so I put together this play-by-play of how to maintain a skincare routine in your 30s—and, in particular, how I keep it up while on the road.
But first, it must be said, I am not a doctor, a dermatologist or an aesthetician (clearly). You should absolutely see one (or all) of the above before doing anything drastic with your own skin. I do have a great derm, Dr. Lorien Sites at Nashville Skin, who I see once a year for skin checks and preventative cancer screenings and an aesthetician in Nashville, Mallory Hamilton at Woo Cosmetics, as well as one in Manchester, Megan Hershman of Be Well Skin, who I go to for professional facials and waxing. That said, I can only afford so many such treatments, so I’ve learned what I can do on my own and what I need to leave to the pros.
Tumblr media
And it happens to be my favorite time of year: the Sephora VIB sale! I tend to stock up on all the products I need during this sale for 11 days every April and November. It’s the perfect excuse to try out a bevy of new products as there are 10 to 20 percent discounts throughout the course of 11 days, in addition to all sorts of freebies and perks.
Note: This post is in no way sponsored by Sephora, though I did include affiliate links when applicable below. I purchased every beauty product I featured below through Sephora (or Ulta if I can’t find it at my first-choice shop) and have stopped buying actual skincare products via Amazon. Why? Read this.
My Daytime Routine
After going overboard with products to start and creating blackheads for the first time in my life as a result, this is now what I do in the morning now. I don’t double-cleanse every single day, as I don’t wear makeup and my skin is already sensitive, so the second step is just an occasional add depending on how my skin is feeling that day. It’s always a trial-and-error with what works for you, though I’ve found a lot of helpful tips via beauty guru Caroline Hirons over the years. I also often defer to this New York Times piece on building a skincare routine when I’m feeling overwhelmed and sifting through the black hole of skincare recommendations that is the Internet.
Step 1: Rinse my face with warm water and a cleanser like this Algenist one
Step 2: Double cleanse with an exfoliating product like Tatcha’s Deep Cleanse (optional)
Step 3: Apply Tarte Knockout Tingling Treatment as a toner (I don’t do this every day)
Step 4: Splash my face with Fresh’s Black Tea Kombucha Antioxidant Essence to ward off pollutants
Step 5: Apply a layer of Drunk Elephant Day Serum
Step 6: Apply Supergoop SPF and an additional thin coat of moisturizer if needed (i.e. if my skin is dry)
Go about my day!
I’ve tried to be better about wearing SPF every single day, even if I don’t think I’m going out in the sun. My bestie Lemon turned me onto Supergoop! products a couple years ago, and those are my go-to for days I know I’ll be outside at some point. Plus, I love that it comes in a 1.7-ounce bottle, so I can keep it in my carry-on and reapply as needed. Back home, I have a massive tube of Le Roche-Posay’s Anthelios SPF, a line my makeup artist friend Brenna introduced me to a few years ago (and one you can now find at your local pharmacy like Walgreens), that I apply when running or working in the yard.
I have combination skin that errs on the oily side, so won’t use a moisturizer during the day unless it’s winter (or allergy season like now) and my skin is feeling tight and itchy. In that case, I’m a big fan of Little Seed Farm’s Goat’s Milk Moisturizer, which is a nearby Tennessee brand I purchase locally from Kroger’s but has a website from which you can order if you aren’t local. I also love Tatcha’s Water Cream, and it’s a bonus that it’s a clean product, too (slowly making the switch to mostly products that are certified clean).
Keeping my products organized and ready to use step-by-step has been a lot easier in the new house as we actually have bathroom space and closets here. I like to keep everything where I can see it so I can survey what I have in stock, so I loved adding this rotating beauty organizer I got on Amazon for just $26 to my new bathroom. I also have a variety of Container Store and STORi plastic bins like this one that I use to organize my overflow and hair products in my bathroom closet.
Tumblr media
Using Face Masks
Since I work from home, I often do a mask once or twice a week midday and have all my skincare products readily available and have liked splashing this Fresh essence on my face throughout the day when I need a boost. I’m constantly trying new ones, but here are a few of my favorites:
REN’s Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask (I use this peel once a week and it’s glorious)
Sephora Collection Face Masks (I prefer the coconut, pearl and lychee)
TONYMOLY Sheet Masks (for $3.75 a pop, you can’t beat the price)
My Nighttime Routine
One thing to note is that figuring out what works for you takes time. Don’t introduce everything at once, otherwise you won’t know what’s working and what’s not. For example, the Pixie Glow Tonic from Target beauty bloggers rave about? Only made my skin break out and become more red in complexion. I immediately took it out of my rotation and started testing out different Vitamin C and brightening serums instead.
Wash with a deep cleanser (I like various Peter Thomas Roth products)
Apply a serum (Sunday Riley Vitamin C or Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos)
Apply a retinol (currently using Drunk Elephant’s A-Passioni)
Apply an eye cream (I haven’t found one I love but currently am using Drunk Elephant’s that came in a set)
Apply a night cream (see below for my thoughts on this)
Between each step, I make sure the product has properly soaked in before I add the next layer. Rule of thumb if you can’t remember which order to apply is: lightest to heaviest. My night cream or moisturizer depends on how thirsty my skin is (I used to not use one, but now I’m trying to reverse deep forehead wrinkles without Botox so use one religiously). My go-to is Belif’s Aqua Bomb, particularly in the drier months like winter, but I really love Farmacy’s Sleep Tight quenches my skin but doesn’t make me wake up feeling oily.
I also finally started using a silk pillowcase, the Slip pillowcase beloved by bloggers everywhere, and I’m kind of mad my mom has used one her entire life and never enforced it upon me because it does help protect both your skin and your hair. And as someone with crazy wavy hair, I can actually straighten it one day, sleep on the silk pillowcase and wake up to it not a mess for a change.
In terms of toning and skin-brightening, friends of mine swear by Karen Hayes Esthetics’ Koji pads, and I finally dropped $160 on a pack and … was extremely underwhelmed. I used them religiously for the recommended 60 days and saw no change in my skin tone. That said, I didn’t actually go in to see the esthetician first—rather, I filled out the survey online—so maybe I needed a stronger prescription? I don’t know. In a world of abundant skincare options, I don’t think I’d drop the money to re-try this one. I’m getting more religious about using a toner and Vitamin C serum instead.
After a decade of using retinol from my derm, I’ve been using OTC retinol products for the past year after my skin went ballistic with an allergic reaction the last time I tried medical-grade products. I’m due for my annual skin checkup with my derm soon, so I’m going to ask her to prescribe me a new retinol—not because my skin breaks out regularly, but because I have deep forehead lines that need reversing (I laugh a lot, what can I say?) and I’m just not into the idea of Botox (no judgment if you are). For those who don’t need as strong a retinol, I do like Drunk Elephant’s A-Passioni Retinol Cream and also Algenist’s Retinol Serum.
Drunk Elephant products are pricey, so I’d recommend you go with a sampler kit like this one before investing in the full-sized products to see what you like. But I’m fully on that bandwagon now, as I’ve been using them for nearly a year, and my skin feels so clean and fresh daily (plus, their products are non-irritating and non-toxic).
When I Travel, Here’s My Beauty Kit
My friend Christie, to whom I also go for skincare tips, made me envious of how organized her beauty kit always is, so I threw out my old caddy and bought this hanging organizer instead. I keep it hanging in my bathroom and each section is organized by theme: first aid (Band-Aids, medicine, prescriptions, etc.), dental hygiene, shampoo and conditioner, hair products and skincare. It’s always ready to go when I need to pack my suitcase, and this way, I never forget anything, which I was inevitably doing before. I also now use this little $8 seven-day pill organizer for my prescriptions, which has reduced the chance of me forgetting one bottle since I’m on so many daily allergy meds.
Tumblr media
For this, I typically use Sephora samples I get when I’m stocking up or I buy mini-kits of products I use that are under three ounces. Nothing will get me to check a bag when I travel, so I find it’s always easier to be prepared. Some kits of minis I’ve used and love:
Algenist Discovery Kit (which includes the retinol, a serum, an eye cream and more)
Drunk Elephant’s The Littles (which includes a small version of every one of the products I use of theirs)
Tatcha Pore-Perfecting Duo (I use this for my cleanser and moisturizer when traveling)
What You Eat DOES Matter
Doing food elimination diets for my autoimmune disease means that I’ve seen firsthand how my skin reacts to certain foods, dairy in particular. And while we are mostly dairy-free day-to-day—we long ago, started making our own almond, cashew and coconut milk—neither one of us is one to turn down sour cream or cheese, and if I’m at a fancy coffee shop, I’ll occasionally opt for real creamer as opposed to oat milk or cashew substitute.
But if I’m consuming dairy or sugar on the regular, you better believe my skin reflects it. I get large breakouts around my mouth and jawline, and it’s just not pretty. Again, I’m a big fan of these cheap, but totally efficient Nexcare acne patches to get ride of isolated breakouts quickly (note: this is the only beauty product I buy via Amazon as my local Walgreens doesn’t carry it—but yours might). You can’t beat $6 a box! Target also carries the CosRx brand ($5 for 18) that beauty bloggers swear by.
Dermaplaning
I’ve had professional dermaplaning three times, and little has given my skin quite the glow as removing all the peach fuzz and dead skin cells. I absolutely love the effect of dermaplaning, but the problem is that it only lasts about two weeks (at least for me), and it is not cheap. Instead, these days I do weekly at-home dermaplaning with a variety of tools:
Stacked Skincare dermaplaning tool
Level Setter Razors
Tinkle Hair Removal Razors
Stacked is by far the most efficient, but it’s also very sharp, so proceed with caution. The $10 drugstore brands work fine to just get your face smoother for applying serums and creams; not having that layer of fuzz and dead skin definitely helps your products soak in more (and your makeup to go on more smoothly if you’re a daily makeup-wearer).
Microblading & Your Brows
So far I’ve yet to find a brow-grow product that fills in the patchy parts of the brows I overplucked in my teen years. Ladies, why did we not listen to our mothers? *face palm*
I’ve tried Shisheido, Rapid Brow and Sephora—none of which have done anything for me. I finally ordered the two-part GrandeBrow Brow and Lash Enhancing Serums from Sephora, and still nothing. One eyebrow got thicker, I’ll give it that, but the problem brow stayed, well, problematic. So, if you have an effective eyebrow serum, help a girl out, will you? I’m thinking of asking my derm for a Latisse prescription next time I’m in as nothing OTC seems to work.
I would love to try microblading, and honestly was going to do it years ago until I found out you have to get touch-ups once to twice a year. While I’m OK paying $500 for something that has a semi-permanent effect, paying $500 and then hundreds of dollars for touch-ups every quarter or bi-annually is just an investment I’m not ready to make yet (plus, the thought of getting my brows tattooed freaks SVV out to no end). But if you have thoughts on microblading or success stories, please let me know in the comments!

I'm either always getting compliments on my skin or being accused of lying about not wearing foundation. So I'mma just going to share with the internet the bullshit routine I have.
I'll start with water. Oh yay, the thing that everyone tells you to do but it doesn't seem to help. Just fucking drink your water. Your lips are gonna thank you and your wallet won't cry every time you have to buy another $4 lip balm because you lost yours for the hundredth time. Cool. Done. Drink.
Cleansing. Do it at least once a day, twice preferred. I'm bad, I only do it when I shower unless my face is feeling very grimey. I have combination/dry sensitive skin. Though, more dry than anything. If I use too many oil-based products I break out, too many drying products and it looks like I got a chemical peel that wants to last a week. I have to be careful will mismatching products otherwise my skins gets pissy with me. I found that using an oil-based cleanser to get rid of makeup when I do wear it and a regular foaming cleanser for oily skin does the trick. This gently strips away any excess oils on your face. If you do choose to do this and you also have dry skin you HAVE to moisturize. Otherwise, your skin will just dry up even more. I use Cerave’s Foaming Facial Cleanser that you can pick up at Walmart. It doesn’t make me break out like so many other cleansers I’ve tried either, though it doesn’t do very well at removing makeup so keep that in mind.
Exfoliation. Dear god, everyone is so harsh on their face it hurts me. Your face is delicate! Be gentle! I only exfoliate when I feel like I’m going to break out, or at least once a week. I use Tatcha’s Deep Cleanse because it’s so gentle and I apply it using Tarte’s Star Brush (you could use any brush, I got this as a gift), If you’re combining exfoliation things, like an exfoliation liquid with an exfoliation tool, be extremely gentle. You don’t need to push down hard, it’ll make your face red and irritated. Your goal is to scrub away the dead skin, not the fresh skin underneath. Be nice to your face. You can also make your own exfoliation scrub (I do all the time). Personally, I just do a spoonful of sugar, a spoonful of honey, and occasionally some cinnamon or baking powder. I’m harsh on my lips because they flake all the time, but I do use it to srub the rest of my face. Don’t use a tool if you do this, you’ll scratch your skin instead of exfoliate.
Toner. It depends. I think toners are more for people with oily/acne-prone skin. I use a toner once a week after I exfoliate. If you have dry skin, you might just wanna ditch it altogether. Again, your face is delicate. Treat it as such. I use some Walmart bullshit thing that I can’t even find online. It’s orange and smells like shit, that’s all I know.
Essence/Treatments/Oils. I like these; Serum A, Essence, Serum B, and Oil. I only use the oil about once a month, everything else I use when I feel like I need it. Only a small drop of each one is all you need, just barely enough to feel like you put some on every part of your face. It should feel like you just came out of the shower, dried your face, but your face still feels a tad bit damp because of the steam. If you put too much, you might break out or make your face oily.
Masks. I used to not use masks often. I do now because it really helps everything from before set in nicely and does its job. Personally, I like sheet masks because all it is is just more essences for your skin to absorb. Once that wipe or peel off are nice, but use them before toner and don’t exfoliate. I haven’t found once set one that I personally really like and have gone back to buy said specific one again, so feel free to experiment. I always go for collagen ones, but mask wise it’s entirely up to whatever you want out of your skin. This is another thing you can make yourself, I do a bit of food-grade dark cocoa powder and a small splash of whole milk to make it into a thick paste, and just slather it on your face and leave it until it’s completely dried. Makes your skin very soft :)
Moisturizer.  I’ve tried a lot of different lotions and I have to say, I do have a few different favorites. I’ll start with one that I liked, but stopped using it because I found better ones. Tarte’s Drink of H2O was pleasant but somewhat pricey. It worked well, didn’t dry out my skin, but it wasn’t enough moisture for my skin. I then found Cerave’s Moisturizing Cream that I still use and love. You can get it at Walmart or even Amazon for really cheap, you get a ton of it, and it works wonders. It does feel very thick so I usually only use it at night, but it does set VERY well under makeup. Just let it dry up a bit first. My absolute favorite moisturizer is definitely Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Cream. Dear god does it work. It doesn’t feel sticky or thick, it dries fairly quick. You only need so little that the little travel size that I got I haven’t even dented and I’ve had it over a month. I only need to do my skincare routine once every three days (I cleanse every day) because of their stuff. VERY expensive but so worth it. Because I don’t need to do an entire skincare routine every day, I’m actually saving money because I’m not having to refill my stuff every month.
Finally, Night Cream. I use another Tatcha product once a month and some other Walmart bullshit item that I randomly picked up that I can’t find online again. It’s made of donkey’s milk (lol) but feels good. You have to wash it off in the morning though. I like night creams because of the extra boost of moisture but once again, I found that using them every night just made my skin more oily than anything else. Less is more.
I’m slowly switching over to Tatcha products because they work really well for me, but due to their price, I’m usually only able to get an item every other month. I work a minimum wage job but I make tips, so I use that to get myself some nice things when I can. So, no, I’m not rich by any means. I just save my spare coins and wait a long time.
I also want to mention this is just what works for me, and it might not work for you. Everyone is different, just experiment until you find something that works for you.
For those who are young and don’t have a job and whose parents don’t want to blow $100+ on skincare products, you would be surprised at how well cheap little things work. Everyone starts small, and it’s okay. Do your research on good, cheap products and find something that you think you might like. It’s what I did, and it’s what a lot of others did. It’ll help you discover what works on your skin and what doesn’t so that you’re not wasting money on expensive products that may or may not work. For example, experimenting with cheaper supplies helped me discover that I have very sensitive skin and that anything with citrus in it will burn me. (Don’t forget to test new things on the inside of your wrist and wait 24-48 hours before applying to your face. I’ve saved myself from so many rashes by doing this).
Good luck to all, hopefully I helped some.

5 Skin-Saving Products for the Sleep-Deprived
It’s only been a few days since the time change, but is anyone else still feeling like their circadian rhythms are all messed up? The clocks may have only moved forward an hour, but to many of us that precious extra hour of sleep does a lot of heavy lifting, and the effects of losing it can range from drowsiness during the day to trouble getting to sleep at night. It’s almost like a mild case of jet lag, but without the fun of a trip.
If this sounds like you, you’re more than likely wearing those signs of slumber-deprivation on your face, too. In fact, a study out of the Karolinska Institute, a medical university in Sweden, found that the faces of sleep deprived individuals were perceived to have dark circles, red and swollen eyes, a dull complexion, and more pronounced wrinkles and fine lines. In short, your skin probably feels like you do—ready for a giant nap. To recalibrate your sleep, try heading to bed 15-20 minutes earlier than usual to catch up on rest. In the meantime, these skincare products can help you camouflage your exhaustion.

What does banana have to do with your morning routine, aside from being part of a complete breakfast? Well, according to Danish skincare icon Ole Henriksen, who swears by banana powder for its pore-blurring properties, it’s also part of a complete skincare routine. This brand new vitamin C-enriched formula—which launched at Sephora this month—provides the perfect canvas for whatever you plan to layer over top, be it moisturizer, face oil or a whole lot of concealer.

I was thinking about doing my top skincare of 2017 and then I realized it was essentially my skincare routine so I thought I would share. And I honestly thought I posted this whole blog about two months ago, but as I went to go link to it, I realized it was still in my drafts. Whoops. But hey – at least I didn’t have to write a blog today. Thanks, Past Lauren.

Morning Cleanser I honestly do not have a consistent morning cleanser. When I’m washing my face at the gym, I tend to rotate subscription box samples. Right now, I’m really liking the Tatcha The Deep Cleanse, which I got from a Sephora gift with purchase. However, I’m not sure if I’m going to buy the full-size. Tatcha is expensive, y’all.
Evening Cleansers For the majority of 2017 (and I think even part of 2016), I have been ride or die for the Julep Love Your Bare Face Cleansing Oil ($22.40/Maven Price but you can also get it at Ulta for $28). I will use this to sort of melt off my face and some of my eye makeup.
After that, I move into Glossier’s Milky Jelly ($18) to get the rest of my skin clean since the makeup was removed by the oil.
I tend to wear a lot of eye makeup (shocks no one) so I usually have to follow this up with a makeup wipe to take care of the residual mascara and liner. I tend to either get the Neutrogena Makeup Removing Towelettes ($6.99) and the generic Target version of those. I was using the Face Halo like Jill, but I found that it was hard for me to get the Face Halo around the contours of my eye, which is where I have the most trouble removing makeup. So I ended up stopping using them after awhile, and went back to the wipes. I know they are wasteful, but that’s where we are.
Essence I didn’t start out using an essence. I actually got the Amore Pacific Vintage Single Extract Essence ($145) by accident, because I received it when I was supposed to receive a Tatcha product in a box. Jill has been trying to get me to use essences forever and now of course I like one that is $150. THAT IS TOO MUCH MONEY. So while it is def something I have been using daily for the past several months, I’m not sure if this is something I will purchase a full-size version of. I mean, I am def not going to purchase a full-size version of it. I’m thinking about trying a small size of the Tatcha essence to see if I like that at all. That one is also expensive but still not AS expensive and the small version is BASICALLY free. (Not free at all, but it’s in this set which I am going to get. Again – Not free. Money is hard.)

Morning Serum This past year, I got back into Vitamin C serums for day-to-day, and I have been super into the Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum ($80). I am also now using the Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum that I got in my January Allure Beauty Box, but I have been using the Drunk Elephant version longer. So I’ll be real with you: it smells like hot dogs. It does not have a good scent. But that is OK. I would rather my skin smell like science than flowers, ya know?
Evening Serum If you’ve been here awhile, you KNOW my fave is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II ($95). Longest. Name. Ever. I will forever be indebted to this serum for really repairing my skin when I was dealing with some really awful cystic acne that was caused by a variety of fun hormonal issues I had a few years ago. Then, I picked at the situation and made it way worse. I tried all sorts of different products and this was sort of a last resort and honestly, OVERNIGHT, I saw a huge difference. I was in shock. I don’t believe in “overnight” fixes. I understand the marketing game of the beauty industry, so I don’t believe in miracles but this was truly a miracle product.
I also started using The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% HA 2% in December. I’m not sure I’m seeing any major differences quite yet but I’m using it a couple times a week instead of the Estee Lauder. I decided to get it because it’s $6.79 (yes, you read that right) whereas a serum by Sunday Riley with similar ingredients is $105. It’s obviously not exactly the same but I thought this would be a good way to start experimenting with lactic acid quite inexpensively.
Eye Cream 2017 was the year I discovered the incredibly bougie La Mer The Eye Balm Intense ($205). It’s esspensive. So expensive, y’all. But it lasted me a really, really long time. I am almost out of the one jar I purchased last year and it pains me to think I need to get another one soon. But it works. It really made my crows feet/ fine lines less apparent (even before I experimented with Botox) and will be a product I will repurchase for sure. I don’t really care for the La Mer face cream at this point in my life, but the eye cream is bomb.
Moisturizers I honestly rotate through a variety of moisturizers. I think I am going to write a future blog about these, so I can go thru each one and why I like them all! Stay tuned!
[line]
So that’s it for now! What are some of your holy grail skincare items that you think I should check out in 2018? Do you have any miracle products that I should know about? Let me know in the comments below!
Lauren’s Top Skincare of 2017/Current Skincare Routine I was thinking about doing my top skincare of 2017 and then I realized it was essentially my skincare routine so I thought I would share.

Restrictions and Exclusions
Now, on top my top picks!
Editor’s Picks: Makeup Removers, Cleansers and Toners
Makeup removers: For a clean alternative to drugstore micellar water, I love BIOeffect and Caudalie. They're both super gentle, but still highly effective. Tarte also has a new clean formula that's on my list!
Gel cleansers: The gel cleanser from Indie Lee is my favourite, suitable for all but the driest skin. You also can't go wrong with Youth to the People or Drunk Elephant. If you're oily, check out the new one from Caudalie.
Foaming cleansers: If you splurge on one cleanser, make it Omorovicza's. Even though it foams, it's non-drying and oh so luxurious. I also recommend the foaming cleansers from Caudalie, Dr Roebuck's, Consonant and Go-To.
Cream cleansers: For a creamy, nourishing cleanse, Dr Roebuck's, Naturally Serious, Omorovicza and Kora Organics are your best bets.
Face wipes: Both Kopari and RMS Beauty make coconut oil-based wipes that are great for taking off makeup. For on-the-go, Consonant's wipes are super refreshing and feel great on the skin.
Toners: Indie Lee and First Aid Beauty are good hydrating toners, while Herbivore and Caudalie are more astringent.
Editor’s Picks: Exfoliators
AHA exfoliators: Lactic acid is my AHA of choice, so I'd go for one of the options from Go-To, Sephora Collection, Peter Thomas Roth or The Inkey List. For a slightly stronger exfoliation, I also like the combo lactic and glycolic acid formulas from Youth to the People and First Aid Beauty.
BHA exfoliators: That said, I will always prefer BHAs because they not only exfoliate the skin surface, but also clean your pores. Try First Aid Beauty, The Inkey List, Caudalie, Dermalogica or Juice Beauty.
AHA-BHA exfoliators: Can't decide? There are also AHA-BHA blends from Herbivore (which was recently reformulated), Sephora Collection, Tarte, Omorovicza, Moon Juice, Tata Harper and Dr. Dennis Gross.
Best powder exfoliators: If you can't tolerate acids, consider the exfoliators from Tatcha and Dermalogica, which use enzymes to gently dissolve dead skin.
Editor’s Picks: Mists, Essences and Serums
Mists: Some new mists that should be on your radar are Tower 28, Skinfix and Youth to the People, which are all hydrating and calming for sensitive skin. I've also been loving the Tatcha and BIOeffect mists, which absorb oil and mattify the skin. Plus, I always recommend Caudalie, Dr Roebuck's, Tata Harper and Herbivore (which was just reformulated).
Essences: When it comes to essences, SK-II was the original and in my opinion, it's still the best. However, it's pricey, so try Tatcha's instead if you are on a budget.
Serums: Everyone needs a hydrating serum (or two) in their skincare wardrobe, whether to wear alone under sunscreen or layered under creams and oils. My top picks include Indie Lee, Caudalie, StackedSkincare, Drunk Elephant, Dr Roebuck's, Moon Juice and Consonant. Or, if you have a big serum budget, Dr. Barbara Sturm!
Editor’s Picks: Moisturizers, Eye Creams and Face Oils
Moisturizers: If you like a lightweight cream or gel-cream, give the formulas from Dr Roebuck's, Tata Harper or Volition a go. If you want something more nourishing, I'm a huge fan of LXMI and the other two creams from Dr Roebuck's (No Worries and Nuddy).
Eye creams: As someone with a very sensitive eye area, I've had success with the eye treatments from Indie Lee, Caudalie, Dr Roebuck's and Drunk Elephant. Also check out the new eye creams from Tatcha and Biossance.
Face oils: It's no secret that I'm a fan of squalane oil, so Indie Lee, Biossance and The Inkey List are all great investments. But lately, I've been using the Kopari coconut oil instead and loving it. (And no, it doesn't break me out, even though I'm acne-prone!) For an oil blend, Herbivore (both Lapis and Orchid) are lovely. If your skin is dry and non-acne-prone, you might like Drunk Elephant's marula oil.
Editor’s Picks: Sunscreens
Face sunscreens: As you know, I'm all about high-protection mineral sunscreen, and I have a new love: REN! If you find most SPFs too greasy and heavy, I'd highly recommend giving it a try. My other picks in the store are from Drunk Elephant (both Umbra Sheer and Umbra Tinte) and Juice Beauty. The new Naturally Serious tinted sunscreen is also worth a look.
Body sunscreens: For body, I love Juice Beauty because it's silicone-free, but you can also get good protection from Supergoop! and Shiseido.
Powder sunscreens: I wouldn't use powder sunscreen as your only sunscreen—rather, I suggest keeping it in your handbag as a top-up. It goes on right over your makeup, and you'll never be without SPF! The best ones are from Supergoop!, ILIA, Peter Thomas Roth and Tarte.
Editor’s Picks: Skincare Treatments
Vitamin C: The most potent form of vitamin C is L-ascorbic acid, which you can find in Drunk Elephant's cult favourite serum. Personally, I prefer vitamin C derivatives, which have a longer shelf life. You can find them from Omorovicza, Summer Fridays, Kora Organics, Youth to the People, Skin Inc Supplement Bar, Tatcha and Farmacy.
Retinol: The strongest retinoid in the store is from Drunk Elephant, which has a full one percent retinol. There's also Alpha-H and Glow Recipe (although they don't disclose the concentration). If you're super sensitive, The Inkey List is the mildest option.
Niacinamide: There's one active ingredient that treats a wide range of skincare concerns and is well tolerated by everyone: niacinamide. Find it in the serums from The Inkey List, Alpha-H and Skin Inc Supplement Bar.
Copper peptides: Believe it or not, copper peptides are on par with retinoids for treating the signs of aging. You can find them in the new serum from Dr Roebuck's.
Bakuchiol: Another exciting retinoid alternative is bakuchiol, available in serums from Herbivore and The Inkey List. One study found that bakuchiol was comparable to a mild retinol for treating wrinkling and pigmentation.
Editor’s Picks: Face Masks and Sheet Masks
Clay masks: The best clay mask is from Indie Lee—it's a lifesaver whenever your skin is broken out, irritated or just in need of a pick-me-up. I've also got my eye on the one from Omorovicza.
Exfoliating masks: My top pick for brightening is the BHA-based Tata Harper mask. However, Herbivore (both Blue Tansy and Brighten) and Omorovicza also get the job done well. Or, try the new Ole Henriksen mask with PHAs, which are like AHAs but milder.
Hydrating masks: I love the jelly-like Dr Roebuck's mask for non-greasy hydration. If you prefer a creamier texture, go for Naturally Serious or Lano.
Sheet masks: Of all the sheet masks I've tried over the years, I still love SK-II's the best. However, I'd also try Go-To, which has better ingredients than most.
Editor’s Picks: High Tech Tools
Cleansing brushes: I swear by the Foreo cleansing brush for getting your skin super soft and clean without irritation. (And it won't harbour nasty bacteria.) PMD makes a device that sounds very similar, although I haven't tried it yet.
Microneedling: It's safe to do microneedling at home, as long as you choose a device with shallow needles (less than 0.3 mm) and follow the instructions to keep it clean. I have the BeautyBio gadget myself, but there's also StackedSkincare and Nurse Jamie.
Microcurrent: Another tool that really works is microcurrent. It's totally painless and if you do it consistently, it can actually tighten and firm your skin. I own the NuFace and the ReFa, and now I've got my eye on the NuFace body version to target cellulite!
Light therapy: I'm always talking about the benefits of red light therapy, and while I generally recommend more powerful devices, I think the LightStim is handy for travel. I'm also intrigued by the Dr. Dennis Gross face mask, since it's hands-free. For occasional breakouts, the Foreo blue light tool zaps bacteria in 30 seconds.
Ice roller: How good does this sound? Pop the StackedSkincare ice roller in your freezer, and once it's cold, roll it across your face for an instant calming effect.
Pore extractor: Dermaflash uses sonic vibrations to deep-clean pores and then infuse them with your favourite serum.
Lip plumper: If you're like me and would rather avoid lip fillers, the PMD plumping gadget is great for a temporarily fuller effect.
Face rollers: Jillian Dempsey has the most luxe face massager, but you can also find versions from Mount Lai, Herbivore and Nurse Jamie.
Editor’s Picks: Skin Makeup
Primers: Silicone-free primers used to be impossible to find, but not anymore. REN and ILIA both make primer-serum hybrids that help makeup last longer while hydrating your skin.
Tinted moisturizers: For lightweight and silicone-free coverage, I like the tinted moisturizers from Omorovicza, bareMinerals and Juice Beauty.
Foundations: My everyday makeup is the cult classic RMS Beauty concealer and foundation in one, just sheered out with my fingers or a brush. But now there's a new RMS Beauty foundation formula for those who prefer fuller coverage and a more traditional cream texture. Another option is the Guerlain silicone-free foundation (although it is fragranced). The Kosas foundation broke me out badly, but if you are not sensitive to oils, it may be worth a shot!
Concealers: For a clean concealer, I always use RMS Beauty, but I'm going to invest in ILIA this time and see how that goes! (It's also silicone-free.) If I need to cover a pimple, Make Up For Ever has been my go-to product for years and years.
Powders: I swear by translucent powders because they tame shine without leaving any texture on your skin. ILIA is my number one pick, but I also like RMS Beauty.
Highlighters: No product is as magical as highlighter for making your skin look healthy and natural. Try RMS Beauty, ILIA or Kora Organics.
Editor’s Picks: Bath & Body
Shower gels: For a sulfate-free cleanse, I recommend the shower gels from Dr Roebuck's, REN and Consonant.
Body scrubs: There are so many great scrubs out right now with natural ingredients. Try the ones from Herbivore (both Coco Rose and Crushed Amethyst), REN and Kopari.
Bath soak: Herbivore's coconut milk soak is addictive (and makes a great gift).
Body moisturizers: I'm extra particular about the ingredients in body moisturizers, since they go on a larger surface area and you're absorbing more product. Dr Roebuck's, Kopari, REN and Lavanila tick off my boxes.
Editor’s Picks: Beauty Supplements
Collagen: I take Vital Proteins every morning, and they honestly do make a difference with your skin, nails and hair. They also have a Marine Collagen version that is equally beneficial.
Vitamin D: I always look for as few ingredients as possible in my supplements, so I'm impressed that HUM Nutrition has only four (D3, olive oil, gelatin, glycerin and water).
Digestive enzymes: In an unexpected move, RMS Beauty sells an enzyme supplement that eases digestion and increases energy and nutrient absorption.
Magnesium: The Moon Juice magnesium powder should help with relaxation and restful sleep (since most of us are deficient).
Milk thistle: Dark circles are notoriously hard to treat, but the HUM Nutrition supplement is worth trying. It has milk thistle, dandelion root and artichoke leaf to support liver health, and the reviews are super positive.
Editor’s Picks: Gift Sets
Skincare gift sets: A gift set is the best way to try out a luxury skincare line, without having to buy full sizes of all the products. That's why I think the sets from Dr. Barbara Sturm and Omorovicza are the most worthy investments this year. Also check out the kits from Drunk Elephant, Caudalie and The Inkey List.
High tech tools gift sets: If you're thinking about investing in a microneedling or microcurrent tool, you'll get great value with the sets from BeautyBio and NuFace.
Makeup gift sets: If you love clean makeup, the best sets are from RMS Beauty for luminizers, Kosas for eyeshadows and Bite Beauty for lipsticks.
Body gift sets: Herbivore and Kopari have you covered with pampering sets for the body.

ModernTropic Luxury Bamboo Bathtub Caddy and Tray There is nothing more soothing after a long day than relaxing in a warm candle-lit bath with a glass of wine and a favorite book or even a movie. The ModernTropic Luxury Bamboo Bathtub Caddy and Tray can put all those relaxation tools right at your fingertips while you soak away all the day's tension. This bathtub caddy is made of 100% bamboo and has an anti-slip rubber grip and is coated with water and mold proof lacquer. The caddy is extendable from 29.25 inches to 43 inches. This caddy makes a perfect gift, but be sure to include a beautiful and aromatic candle as an add-on. There is a built-in spot for a wine glass and candle, a chrome book support, and a removable tray in which you can place bath accessories, such as a bath cloth, soaps, and other small items. There is even a slot for your cell phone. Likes Users have several great things to say about this bamboo bathtub caddy and tray. They like the fact that it doesn't discolor or warp even when it gets damp. It folds up nicely allowing you to store it between uses, and it is perfect for holding everything you need within easy and convenient reach while unwinding in a warm bath. Dislikes While most of the people who bought or were gifted with this bathtub caddy and tray loved it, 10% of the people were really disappointed with it. There were two major complaints. Some people stated that the grips holding the caddy did not work well and the caddy fell into the tub. That would be terrible if your phone was sitting in the slot. Other users found that the caddy broke within a few uses or arrived broken. Conclusion The majority of people who got this bamboo bathtub caddy and tray really like it and find it works well. However, the problems a few people experienced mean that you should wait before trusting your phone or anything breakable on this tray until you are sure that it's going to grip well and won't break. If you are looking to give this caddy to that special person in your life, you can make it a more romantic gift by including a scented candle, some nice bubble bath, and a lovely bottle of wine with a special hand painted wine glass. Those extras will make the gift more complete and romantic. Check out the great deals here on this one. Kevyn Aucoin The Essential Eyeshadow Set — The Bloodroses Palette Inspired by Aucoin's cult-favorite Bloodroses lipstick (a deep Bordeaux shade that the famous makeup artist reportedly created to work on every skin tone), this palette contains five velvety powder shadows—three various shade of rose (pale, magenta, and blood rose, of course), plus a champagne and shimmery pink-tinged taupe. Check out Kevyn's Aucoin's eyeshadow set here. Chanel Poudre À Lèvres Inspired by the trick used by makeup artists to create a bright lip color, this limited-edition eyeshadow from Chanel's Spring 2018 collection is meant for your lips. The duo, which comes in three red and pink shades, includes a lip balm and powdered pigment to help create the ultimate velvety texture. You can find a great price on this limited-edition Chanel here. Slip Red Kisses Pure Silk Sleep Mask Giving your partner a designated toothbrush at your place is like giving a mouse a cookie. Soon, they're gonna want a skin-care shelf, and an underwear drawer, and their brand of coffee in the pantry... But you can't delay the inevitable for long. A silk sleep mask is a very small next step that says "you're a prince/princess who deserves uninterrupted sleep" — who wouldn't swoon over that? Here's the best place to find the perfect sleep mask for her or him. Tatcha Camellia Kisses Lip Balm Trio These balms, infused with a touch of color, softening camellia oil, and (entirely necessary) 23-karat gold, are enough to convince even the most diehard Lip Kit lover to put down the long-wear tube. Because nothing's worse than getting red lipstick all over your face — no matter how much you like the person. Pat McGrath Labs Mothership IV Eyeshadow Palette - Decadence Look, if someone's expecting a diamond ring and they get an eyeshadow palette, they're not going to be pleased — even if it's the coolest, most in-demand (seriously, everyone wants this) palette from the best makeup artist in the game. But, if you set the stage for an evening of surprises, making clear that this is just one of them, you're going to score huge points. Check out the Decadence here. Ferragamo Amo Let Ferragamo test the waters for you. The Italian house's newest fragrance smells like a fresh cocktail (that'd be the Campari accord) served alongside a sophisticated dessert (vanilla tahitensis), but it's not overly indulgent. It's fun and young and sparkly... just like falling in love should be. If you're on a budget, you can find it here. Herbivore Botanicals Bath Salts Set Why use just one kind of bath salts, when you can use two? This sea salt set from Herbivore, which is sourced from the Pacific Ocean, comes with a Cambrian blue clay blend to detoxify your body and one with Himalayan pink salts to relax your mind. Find the Herbivore Botanicals set here. Kristin Ess Reconstructive Moisture Mask + Leave-In Conditioner Set Surprise them with this chic set of reparative products that'll leave hair stronger, softer, and smelling so good, you'll want to get all tangled up in it when you cuddle to sleep. (But you know better than to fall into that trap again.) Here's where you can get this one. Mullein & Sparrow Rose Trio Assuming you've thoroughly weighed the pros and cons of pulling the cord before the 14th versus waiting until all the candy is 75% off, and you've come to the conclusion that buying a gift is still the right move, the spa route is the way to go. Because the only people who love soaking in luxurious rose petal baths more than happy people are sad people. For everything Mullein & Sparrow check here.
Calvin Klein Graceful Women's Quartz Watch K1P23520
Are you looking for the perfect stylish, useful, and elegant piece of jewelry to give to your special lady on Valentine's Day or on another special occasion? Does she like wearing a watch, but perhaps she thinks that most of them are too clunky or ugly to suit her? Look no further than this Calvin Klein Graceful Women's Quartz Watch (K2Z2S616) as an excellent choice. This watch is a delicate-looking bracelet watch made from stainless steel coated with yellow gold PVD.
It is a battery powered Swiss quartz watch with a jewelry clasp.
It is water resistant up to 30 meters.
It has a 2-year warranty.
Look at how extremely elegant and feminine looking this watch is. Imagine how gorgeous it will look on the wrist of your lady. She’ll be able to wear it with both formal attire and blue jeans. Likes Calvin Klein watches are considered very good quality for the price. Buying a designer watch for $128 is a very good deal. Your lady will surely be thrilled to wear a designer watch that looks great and works well. Dislikes The clasp can be difficult to secure. This watch is meant to be feminine, so isn’t as sturdy as watches with wider, stronger bands, but that’s just a trade-off for the feminine aspect. Conclusion This gold-covered stainless-steel Calvin Klein Graceful Women's Quartz Watch is an elegant and sophisticated bracelet watch that makes a perfect gift for a woman who likes jewelry and likes wearing a watch. The shape of the circles in the band and the circle that goes around the watch face make this watch look ultra feminine and sophisticated. Since the bracelet is made from stainless steel, it is likely to hold up to normal wear. You can get this Calvin Klein classic here. Likes There are enough skin care products in this set to give anyone a very realistic spa experience. Most users who received this basket as a gift stated that they loved the relaxing scent and that using the products brightened their day. There are plenty of items in this gift set, which means that users can have several relaxing spa days making for a gift that keeps on giving. Dislikes The vast majority of people who bought or received this Premium Deluxe Bath and Body set really liked and enjoyed it, but a few people felt that some of the products in the basket looked cheap. Some even substituted the items they didn't like with others they felt more fitting. Conclusion If you are looking for a great way to pamper the woman in your life for Valentine's, birthday, or Mother's day, then this Premium Deluxe Bath and Body Set may fit the bill. Although there are a few items that aren't top quality, the overall quality of the majority of items in this basket make the basket well worth the price. Do keep in mind that you can throw in a few extras, such as a thick towel, a nice fluffy bathrobe, and a relaxing glass of wine to make the spa experience complete.  If you’re reading this blog post, you’re probably having some trouble with your current skin routine: and that’s okay! Finding the perfect skin routine for your skin is a huge trail and error process, but I’m here in hopes to make it a little bit easier for you! And if you don’t have any form of skin care routine, well then that’s your first mistake if you want great skin! - Of course there are some beauties out there that are blessed with gorgeous skin naturally - and trust me, we’re all jealous.
But for those of us who weren’t blessed with perfect skin genes, we need a skin routine that works.
*For those of you with combination skin: We have the same skin type so I’ve included my personal favorites!
First things first:
The most important thing in your skin care routine, at least in my opinion, is your facial cleanser.
Personally, I love facial cleanser that has something exfoliate your skin in it.Not all face washes come with this, but it is very common. Most of these cleansers have little beads that help to remove dead skin as you massage the cleanser into your skin. I highly recommend a face wash with this for those with dry or combination skin. Those with oily skin can use them too, but they are definitely more beneficial for those with dry/combo skin.
Right now, I am absolutely LIVING for the The Deep Cleanse by Tatcha from their Balanced line. This one comes in a hefty price for a cleanser (Retails for $38): but for what it does to my skin? That’s a price I’m willing to pay. The cleanser isn’t harsh on my skin and exfoliates it very gently. I absolutely love it. And another reason to love Tatcha? They’re cruelty free.
Top Recommended Facial Cleansers:
Clinique Facial Soap (Available for ALL Skin Types - Retails for $14)
They have three different versions to cater to your specific skin type. With a five star rating, more than enough people recommend and swear by it to convince you to go buy it! However, this company is not cruelty free.
Oily Skin
Clinique Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser (Retails for $20.50)
This cleanser is a little different then the average face wash. This is a cream-mousse cleanser. This is an oil-free cleanser, so it’s great for those with oily skin. This company is not cruelty free.
Ole Henriksen Pore-Balanced Facial Scrub (Retails for $28)
This cleanser helps to control oil. It also helps to purify the skin and reduce the look of pores. This company is cruelty free.
Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash (Retails for about $6)
Deep cleans and leaves your skin refreshed. This face wash is oil free AND a soap free gel. Contains mint, lemongrass and aloe. I can’t find anywhere that states whether they are cruelty free or not.
Dry Skin
annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser (Retails for $29.95 for their 50mL bottle)
This is a super gentle, all natural face cleanser that will hydrate your skin. This company is cruelty free.
Murad Renewing Cleansing Cream (Retails for $39)
Known to help boost hydration and exfoliate your skin, this cleanser is great for anyone with dry skin. This is also great if you have sensitive skin. This company is cruelty free.
Estee Lauder Soft Clean Moisture Rich Foaming Cleanser (Retails for $20)
Helps to soften skin. While protecting the natural moisture barrier our skin has, this cleanser adds hydration and conditioners to the skin. This company is not cruelty free.
Combination Skin
Clarin’s Women’s Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed (Retails for $26)
Not sure why this company aimed this specifically for women, but anyway.. this is a non-drying cleanser, that helps to remove excess oil, and remove impurities. This brand is not cruelty free.
First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (Retails for $10)
Fragrance free, gentle cleanser that removes grime and dirt. Leaves your skin soft. This company claims to be cruelty free, however they said they cannot guarantee that their ingredients aren’t tested on animals by some of their suppliers: so it’s your call on this one. The company however, does not test on animals themselves nor sell to China. So again- your call.
The next thing you need to worry about is a product to exfoliate, especially if you have dry skin. If you have a face wash that exfoliates, you can choose to skip this step but I highly recommend it if you find your skin flaking when you apply foundation, etc.
I personally only exfoliate extra in the winter months as my skin is extra dry. I personally recommend Freeman’s Feeling Beautiful Polishing Mask (Retails for roughly $4). I love using this after I wash my face in the shower. (After I of course moisturize or use a hydrating mask).
Products that are meant to exfoliate all do the same thing, which is exfoliate - so I won’t go into detail about them. But here are two popular ones:
Clinique Exfoliating Scrub (Retails for $22) Not cruelty free.
Clarin’s One-Step Exfoliating Cleanser (Retails for $38) Cruelty free.
Again, most face washes have a product to exfoliate your skin in them: so you can skip this step.
Now you need to think about a moisturizer. Yes, even you oily beauty gurus need to moisturize. Again, I won’t be going into details about these as they all do the same thing: hydrate.
Personally in the winter, I like to use H20+ Oasis Hydrating Booster (Retails for $38) This stuff is the absolutely BOMB and helps me so much when my skin is insanely dry! You only need a small amount and I swear I’ve had the same bottle for two years now.
Dry Skin
Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream (Retails for $11) - perfect for those with sensitive skin also! - Cruelty free.
ULTA Velvetskin Melting Moisturizer (Retails for $19.50) - Cruelty free.
Oily Skin
The key to moisturizing with oily skin is to find a non-oil based or oil-free moisturizer!
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (Retails for $14.50) - Not cruelty free.
Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Invisible Finish Moisture Gel (Retails for $29) - Cruelty free.
Combination Skin
Biotherm Aquasoure 48H Continuous Release Hydration Gel (Retails for $38.59) - Not cruelty free.
100% Pure Moisturizer (Retails for $39) - Cruelty free.
Now that we have the basics covered: It’s time to get a key item most people don’t realize should be in their skin care routine.
Toner / Astringent
A lot of you may be asking yourselves: WTF is a toner/astringent, and why do I need it? Well, I’ll tell you why.
A toner helps clarify the skin. This is a leave-on product that you apply after you wash your face and before a moisturizer. The same goes for an astringent.
I personally use H20+ Toner, which they have more than one to cater to your specific skin type.
Believe it or not, a lot of people actually use Witch Hazel to tone their skin. If you’re not into that, and want a product actually made for toning, don’t worry: I got your back.
Before I found out Clinique wasn’t cruelty free, I used to swear by their Clarifying Lotion (Retails for $15 depending on the size bottle) . They have multiple versions for different skin types. If the company was cruelty free, I’d still be using this product.
If you have dry or combination skin, a toner is perfect for you. Specifically an alochol-free toner as alcohol will actually dry out your skin. Some popular ones are:
LANCÔME Tonique Confort Re-Hydrating Comforting Toner (Retails for $26) - Not cruelty free.
Clarin’s Toning Lotion (Retails for $26) - Cruelty free.
If you have oily skin, I recommend an astringent. Astringents work fabulously for removing excess oil from the skin.
NEUTROGENA Clear Pore Oil-Eliminating Astringent (Retails for $6) - Some products sold by this company are cruelty free. I believe however, this one is not.
Clinique Clarifying Lotion For Oily Skin (Retails for $15) - Not cruelty free.
Witch Hazel is also highly recommended for those with oily skin.
Let your skin dry naturally before applying moisturizer after applying your toner/astringent. Do not towel dry.
*Instead of a moisturizer, you can also use a face serum but that is entirely up to you. A face serum doesn’t go by skin type but more so what you want out of it. I personally use a face serum with Vitamin C and Collagen - they help to firm the skin, and reduce wrinkles.* I personally also microneedle my face, and use a Collagen cream you leave on over night. I like to switch up my skin routine.
And don’t even get me started about face masks..

Don’t forget to fix your lipstick,
xo K
Please remember that these are simply highly rated and recommended suggestions: what works for others, may not work for you. Also, I understand a lot of the price points are high - but like I said, this post is based off of the highest rated and recommended, not the cheapest.
