I actually think TR!Tango is on such thin ice with Ros and his constant jabs at her. He intends them as jokes but there are so many times today where they did not land with Ros. There's obviously the one during the event where Sneeg and Clown immediately jumped to her defense but in even later afterwards he continued to make jokes and rile her up. Ros even went to Foolish about it after he made a joke about her making the walls and Foolish waved it off by saying Tango couldn't have known Owen made them (which, fair, he did not) but it actually upset Ros to not have her building skills and work on the castle recognized.

Building is like the one thing Ros takes pride in. She is so horribly insecure in nearly everything else, but building is her comfort zone. So for someone to not acknowledge her work and consistently tease her about it really made her frustrated and she even had to walk away and calm down. Interestingly enough, when Tango made a joke about the newspaper saying Ros doesn't have a backbone she very calmly told him that it was false and that people lie. This is something Tango and many others have teased her about in the past but this time she is finally standing up for herself. Ros is not the same person as she was when Tango left and I think he's going to find that out real quick.

what you’re discussing are two men who’ve been in love since they were teenagers which is already hard enough for normal people to manage but then to add the demonic music industry, EXTREME FAME with an extremely unhealthy and invasive fan environment designed and enabled by soul-sucking management, closeting, and whatever the hell else went on we don’t know about that is…. It didn’t take long for the melancholy to settle right back in. I guess sometimes when I’m worn out and tired, I start thinking. I suppose overthinking would be a better way to describe it.

I’m stuck in a never ending loop of: A) the project that just won’t end (it been a few years now); B) personal finances that tend to get a little better, then shit happens; C) the ongoing dread of dealing with my immediate family; D) the false facade I put up when dealing with other family members; E) the slow going albeit not technically on track yet, dying/ death of my father, and his vacillating between wanting it and prolonging it; F) the harsh reality that I can feel the strain on my relationship with The Wife™️; G) and yet she either doesn’t see it or is burying it so we don’t have to face this now; H) however many years I have before the guy who brought me retires; I) is there a future for me after he does, or I will I need to start all over again in my mid-late 50’s?; J) the fact that I don’t have any social contact with people in real life, my life was a work relationships, and Delta employees; K) the harsh realities of running a small micro business, all by myself, when I was never exposed to such a thing; L) being 52 years old and having a 35 year long dependency on alcohol; M) the constant struggle with the other thing that is killing me, yet also simultaneously giving me a purpose to live…work.

I’m sure there’s more, but those 12 things are at the forefront of my mind lately. That is when I get a chance to collect my thoughts. I’ve gone through burnout before, at least twice. Yet this feels different. This feels like if I fail, so be it. If failure is the inevitable option, and don’t want to have to start all over again. I’ve already done that 4-5 times in my life, and it’s just so exhausting.

I had this unhinged Targ anti reply to my comment on Reddit with an absolutely unhinged essay on why the Targs aren’t magical at all and that it’s just “supremacist propaganda.” It’s just really weird.

Idc if someone just doesn’t like the Targs, but what bothers me is when they act like they invented feudalism, are the most evil family ever, and when they demonize them for their dragons. Targ antis act as if the Targs are the only problem in Westeros and that getting rid of them is the solution. They must have watched GoT and read asoiaf with their eyes closed, because the war of the five kings was a war that was started just fine without help from the Targs.

The Targs did not create feudalism or war. It’s just strange how Targ antis fixate on the Targs and only blame them for feudalism as if feudalism wasn’t the system Westeros had for thousands of years before the Targs appeared. Sorry for the rant, I’ve just seen some really dumb comments on Reddit about the Targs and wanted to say this.

Unbiased answer: hate is stupid in general and i've seed batshit takes for every single character I like in asoiaf. It's a general phenomenon, if it makes you feel any better.

Biased answer: targs get extreme hate because they are the coolest house in the asoiaf universe and the very reason for asoiaf's popularity. they get hate because, while not everyone is familiar with the asoiaf universe, everyone and their mother knows the targaryens and recognizes asoiaf precisely because of the targaryens. they get hate because george decided to keep writing about the targaryens and they get an insane backstory where other houses get nothing. they get hate because dany is the reason game of thrones got popular and the reason hotd exists. that's why they get hate. loving the targs on SOME level is the norm and hating on the norm simply makes you seem cool and different in online spaces, which gets you clout.

Actually this is in sync with my unbiased answer because every character/house/trope that is popular and well liked will get an insane amount of very loud and stupid hate, it's just the way it goes. It is not something that only concerns the targaryens. I hope that covered you.

i think The Powers That Be (the big media) are failing to understand that not everything has to be a franchise. not every n years old piece of media needs a reboot, or a version in a different medium, a sequel or a prequel or a midquel, or a live action version.

and i think that we're seeing this at it's worst right now with things like the minecraft movie that is lacking soul enough that it makes our animal brains shriek and recoil because the uncanny valley sense lights up - but not in an 'it's a mask or a doll that's close to realistic but not close enough' way but in an 'oh my god, this is a corpse' way. it's shaped like something you love but doesn't act like it, doesn't move like it, doesn't feel like it. the main component of what made it it is missing. it's entirely money-motivated and we can tell just by looking at it, it's like a zombie.

it just kinda feels like we're mid-stagnation of culture. original stuff just isn't being made as much anymore because it's seen as "risky" by the industry. and there isn't even any experimentation going on, just adding on things or getting rid of stuff, and the goal of all this is to make the final product more Digestible, but the side-effect is just this blandness. you're adding water and taking away the seasoning because what if it's too salty for some people, what if it's too spicy because some are more sensitive to that than others, and you end up with a vaguely tasteless sludge. nothing is gained. there's just a ghost of an aftertaste.

and the executives that mainly decide on all this want to continue doing this so much, and for the audience to be like little money-generating sheep blindly watching the same thing over and over again. but unlike sheep, we cannot regurgitate the same thing ad infinitum. we don't have the stomach for it. there's no substance and, arguably, no art in all this.

eisner was kinda onto something when he said that to make money it's necessary to make history and art, and some kind of a statement but it kinda feels like they're trying to skip this step, just keep serving us the same thing. but even the most delicious food, given enough time, gets old and boring, grows stale, and, eventually, goes bad and spoils.

i think that all that is additionally sad because it will inevitably lead to the current media cannibalizing themselves. they're already reaching for laughably young cultural texts like moana and harry potter. what will they do once they catch up to the point of history we're at right now?
