ANDOR | SEASON 1
And then remember this: the Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that.

My partner and I came across that one dialog from the Obi-Wan Kenobi series (Obi-Wan answering Leia's question by 'I wish I were your father') and we ended rolling on the floor laughing at it because Nkjnsdfjknkjs what did you mean by that Obi-Wan LOL
Star Wars's has always had very silly dialogue but that bit feel so awkward nkJNKJSDF
(We still haven't watched the series btw I keep saying i'll and end distracted)

“You love him, too, don't you?” When he didn't answer, she turned around. He stood motionless, frowning, in the middle of the expanse of the buff carpeting. “You do. You do love him.” He lowered his head.

Palpatine’s Thoughts on the Rebellion, the Empire and Power.
Here are some more of Palpatine’s inner thoughts during the Battle of Endor featured in the short story, “Then Fall, Sidious”.
I find the part in the last paragraph where he says “…strength is not a fist, but a burden. I will do what must be done to make this galaxy great because it is what I am called to do,” particularly interesting. It sounds almost like he feels called to “protect” the galaxy.
Anyway, like I’ve said before, I highly recommend this story to any Palpatine fan, who likes to see a more human side of him.

so, she’s officially entered the ironic kalluzeb shipping era. just a while ago, she was watching ep 20 with the new base and the spiders and all that jazz, and she goes “aww i can’t believe zeb is afraid of the spiders… i bet he’d be braver if sideburns was here” and now, all i can think about is kallus being the designated bug-killer in the relationship.
(additional note: sideburns is what she calls kallus, because apparently his name is “way too weird” to remember.)

Something I noticed with Grievous
Clone Wars runs more on George Lucas' idea for Grievous, that being a cackling over the top villain who talks big but runs away at every threat to his life, and to that end we often see Grievous fighting weaker opponents while being backed up by droid squads, often turning tail and running whenever the fight goes against him or his opponent's backup arrives
But there is an exception to this
Obi-Wan Kenobi
When he's around, Grievous does significantly better, matching Obi-Wan in fights, going without backup, and being less prone to running
See, my thought is that Grievous isn't actually a weak fighter or anything, thanks to his augmentations he is very much a match for most Jedi, but no amount of body modification can fix his fundamental personality flaw: Grievous is a bully, he picks on people because he can do so safely and folds when he is not safe
But Obi-Wan is the exception, Grievous hates Obi-Wan so much that his typical instincts of cowardly self preservation lose out to bloodlust and hatred, Grievous is so consumed by it that he at times fights when he should just run, until it proves fatal for him

Leia stops at the middle of the room.
Fox stops as well, and they look at each other for a brief moment, before Leia unclips her lightsaber from her belt.
"Here", she says, and extends the saber to Fox. "Do you want me to go over basics, even though it looked liked you already knew what you were doing."
Fox raises an eyebrow at her.
"I think it's pretty instinctual for anyone who has any level of combat training, to know how to hold on to a weapon and wave it around", he says. "Though perhaps, that counts as me having the basics down."
"Definitely does", Leia says, and then thrusts the lightsaber closer to him. "Take it. I'm not going to lie, I'm not an expert either, since my source for most things regarding the Jedi has been either my brother and the stories my parents told me, but it's better than nothing."
"Considering your situation, I agree", Fox says. He finally reaches out, and takes the lightsaber carefully in his hand. He knows how to hold it the right way, just as Leia had seen before, and she suspects it's because he has seen more than one Jedi use them, despite the Guard not having a Jedi General assigned to them.
They do have her now, Leia's mind posits to her before she can think better of it. She is not a Jedi, nor is she aggined to the Guard officially, but she is a General, she has the Force, and the Guard is hers, now.
Close enough.
Leia nods at him.
"Ignite it", she says. Fox takes a slightly sturdier stance, before doing so.
The blade hums as it ignites, the sound feeling like a summer rain that precedes a thunderstorm. A weapon of protection, but a weapon still.
Leia listens to it for a moment, and smiles.
"It likes you", she tells him.
Fox looks at her, and then at the saber.
"Does it?" He asks. "Can you tell?"
"Yes. It feels at home in your hands, just as it does in mine", Leia explains. "The lightsaber itself is not sentient, as we think of what a sentient is, but as a sort of a conductor of the Force, the crystal in it forms a sort of bond to the wielder."
Fox tilts his head as he gives the saber a closer look.
"It's enough that it likes me?" He asks. "So that it doesn't care that it's me who is wielding it, and not you?"
Leia hesitates, before she answers.
"Mother and father would sometimes say that I remind them of you", she says. "Perhaps they were more correct than I thought."
Fox looks at her, then. There's a searching look in his eyes, though it's not unkind. Leia thinks he knows already, in a sense. Perhaps he has by now started to realise that there is something more in what he feels every time he thinks about her papa or mama.
Leia thinks she might have to tell him, if he asks. Answer yes if he asks if in the another life, that has already gone by for her but not yet arrived for them, he loved them.
Then, his eyes soften, and he hums.
"Clearly, they knew whose daughter you were", he says, a confirmation to everything. He smiles. It's just a quick flash, but a true one nevertheless.
Leia smiles back. She then straightens her back, and Fox does the same. It's time for business, now.
This time, she promises. For herself, for him, for everyone else. This time, they will win, right here.

*sighs dreamily* I could send him careening off the rails so hard it would be considered an ecological disaster in 17 countries. Does he deserve a little murder? As a treat?
No.
He deserves to go on a killing spree.
The entire Coruscant Guard cheers him on.
A list of 173 victims all mysteriously disappearing in the middle of the night. The only evidence is massive amounts of blood splattered across all the surfaces of the room, enough to garentee they are dead.
There is absolutely zero evidence pointing at Fox.

Did you have any foreknowledge that Anakin would become Darth Vader? I feel like even if you had Revenge of the Sith must have been quite an experience
Lmao I didn't know that until I came across this gif here in tumblr:
Tumblr media
'oh damn'
That said, because of that gif, I did know he was going to be one of the most iconic and recognizeable villains of cinema by the time I started to watch the movies. But, my knowledge of what would happen was very, very narrow, I was very in the dark about it lol
Is easier to point out the things that I knew when starting the movies than the ones I didn't:
-He would lose his limbs (I did not know how, I didn't know he literally burned. And I only knew that he loses his limbs because my partner )
-He kills kids (and that I knew just because a meme that my hubby had to explain to me, but I didn't know the circumstances. In fact, what I pictured was much worse LOL)
-He kills(? Padmé (I asked my hubby if he and Padmé divorced, and he just decided to throw that spoiler at me like "no, he kills her accidentally" without further context and I was like...oh woah okay...I...generally don't like villains that kill their wives but i'll still check that out)
-Samuel L. Jackson is in these movies! :D
-HE IS LUKE'S FATHER OMG OMG AND IS TWINS OMG LEIA?? ...Wait don't Leia and Luke kiss- Oh okay
And sufficient to say: ROTS still destroyed me emotionally, what a trip. But I had a blast watching these movies, and it was also a blast watching the Original Trilogy after that! I was so, so stunned about the end of ROTJ, because seriously I always thought Luke kills Vader even when my interest on SW was below zero.
And no, I still don't know how at 24 i managed to know so little about Star Wars SJNKJNSDF
What I thought would happen in these movies was that my guy here was going to be just this cool merciless villain from about the get-go and we would just met him as an adult already. Like, he would be this dark jedi working by himself ruining the order from the inside, going into murders on weekends and blame someone else for fun, the war would be his doing, and being creepy towards everyone included his wife was probably his hobby, idk, you get it, your basic 'cool lonely villain', like maybe a Sauron of sorts.
And then George Lucas tackled me with... this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey, I'm not complaining.
My hiperfixation on Anakin and Star Wars helped me a lot with my depression, truth be told!

I love how remarkably consistent the tcw/tbb fandom is about how we want our most-hated villains to die. we see a zillo beast in distress and immediately begin advocating for who its next meal should be
