Stumbling through the forest I trip on a root before falling over. I hiss as my shirt is cut leaving scratch lines across my arms. Sighing and wincing I pull myself back up and try to continue, just trying to put one foot in front of the other. I wipe the sweat off my aching head and look at my hand seeing the red, metallic liquid coating my fingers.
I feel my head becoming heavy but I refuse to pass out, not in this situation. Something’s chasing me, or it was. A massive creature, taller than any man, with some sort of braids reaching past its shoulders. It was covered in metal, a mask covering its face and plates attached to all parts of its body. It made a clicking sound as it disappeared into the trees, quite literally disappeared - it seemed to just stop existing at the click of a finger.
A stick cracks underneath my feet, I drag my feet behind me then I hear the clicking sound again, It’s back.
I feel my heart pounding in my chest and my breathing is hitched as I try to run. My legs burn as I make myself go forward, my body begging me to stop. I trip over again as I push myself after one of the trees. Still falling to the floor I feel the sharp stones and chunks of wood cutting up my skin
“Arrêt! S'il vous plaît! (Stop! Please!)” I say feeling the tears trickle down my face before a different mysterious man appears in front of me holding a spear. I look up at him before finally passing out. Before I’m out cold I hear the clicking sound again.
A few moments later, it could’ve been minutes or it could have been days, I wouldn’t know. My body’s moving but I’m not walking. I can hear footsteps, they’re in time with the way my body moves. My eyes flutter open as my head rolls around but suddenly I jolt up and look around. My vision is still blurry as I try and identify where I am and what’s happening.
Wincing, my headaches as I finally re-adjust to waking up. I look up at the man holding me in his arms and feel my stomach drop as I see his forehead covered in blood.
“Que fais-tu? Que ce passe-t-il? (What are you doing? What's happening?)” I ask, startled but he just looks at me confused and holds onto my wrists as I start squirming around. I look at him and how he’s dressed, the dress and patterns of the local tribe. I researched it before I got taken here, culture being one of my interests. I repeat the same questions in Comanche and notice that he seems to understand and then replies.
“I found you in the forest.” He says.
“We’re still in a forest,” I say, drowsiness evident in my voice as my head rolls from side to side.
“I’m taking you to my tribe.” He replies as we emerge from the forest.
I lift my head up and look around. Tipis line the horizon and smoke flies up from the fire. Women and children walk around cooking, and gathering whilst the men are finishing up with their hunting and unpacking their hunts.
“It’s incredible here,” I say in English as I tend to switch in and out of languages routinely.
“It’s pretty.” He replies and I’m a bit shocked that he understands English.
“You speak English?” He nods with a small smile before the rest of the walk is spent in silence.
Heads turn as the man, who I now realise I don’t know the name of, continues carrying me. Suddenly the injuries I suffered start to hurt again, it feels like my skin is on fire.
I hear whispers in Comanche.
“Who is she?”
“Why is she here?”
“Is she okay?”
Hushed questions and whispered curiosities. The man walks past all of the people and places me down in one of the tipis.
“Where are you going?” I say starting to feel my heart race at the thought of him just leaving me here even though I don’t even know his name or who he is.
“I’ll be back in a minute.” He says before walking out of the tipi and closing it making sure that the sunlight doesn’t peak through.
I hear speaking outside but it still only takes minutes for me to fall back asleep.
Sunlight shines through the tipi as someone pulls it open and walks in sitting down by the side of me. Feeling the warmth on my face I blink open my eyes and rub my forehead although not from the pain this time. For some reason, I don’t feel any pain. I look down at my arms and legs and notice the cuts are covered by cloth tied tightly but not too tightly. A piece of cloth decorates my head as well, with a little dangly bit which I tuck behind my ear.
Sitting up I feel a bit of dizziness in my head but turn to look around and see the man sitting next to me. Jumping slightly, I take a breath before smiling at him slightly.
“Hey.” He says, silently chuckling at me as I jump at seeing him.
“Hi.” I reply. “Did you, umm, do this?” I say indicating to all the pieces of cloth tied to my arms and legs. He nods. “Thanks.” I say running my hand through my hair, untangling a couple of the knots. “What’s your name?” I say after a small pause.
“Taabe. What’s yours?”
“(y/n).”
“Nice name, foreign name.” He says.
I take a sharp breath as I remember the creature from the forest.
“What happened to the creature?” I ask desperately.
“There wasn’t a creature, I must have scared him off.” He jokes slightly. “How are you feeling?” He asks tightening one of the bandages.
“Better, what did you do?” I ask.
“My sister is a healer, she gave you some plants to help with the pain.” He says with a small smile.
“Why are you helping me? I heard them shouting about me earlier.” I say rubbing my arm slightly awkwardly.
“You’re hurt, you’re not gonna hurt me.” He says, matter-of-factly. “You’re a translate aren’t you? Question is, who for?”
“This French guy, my parents owe him something so to pay him back I’m helping with translation.”
“Thought so.” He says. “I told them you're not a threat, you can’t hurt us and I don’t think you would. You’re not in a great position to do so.” He says with a smirk. “They said you can stay.”
“Well, thanks.” I reply.
“Don’t worry, you can pay me back sometime in the future.” He says with a wink.

Sun & Moon
Taabe x Reader
Desc: Your name is Mʉa (Moo-ah). You are a Comanche woman of the southwest tribe, named for the beauty of the moon, and all you want is to be someone more.
Taabe, on the other hand, is exhausted. All he wants is for his mother to leave him alone about becoming War Chief and taking a wife. He doesn't know exactly what he's looking for, but it's not any of the women in his tribe. Until he meets you, and he thinks maybe fate led you two to cross paths.
-Here's a snippet of the fic and a link below :) -
Of course, on the other hand, Taabe considers that maybe there is a woman out there who would truly be pleased to just be at home all the time, but as he deliberates, he knows that’s not what he wants, even if it would please his mother.
He wants someone free to be herself, a woman who’s not afraid to speak her mind, someone he could actually sit down and talk with. Someone who could maybe even challenge him a little. A woman worth reflecting over.
Taabe knows no one like that. It makes him feel alone to think about this dream woman- and it’s all the more reason to keep refusing marriage.
But sometimes, when he’s feeling silly and tired, lying out by the campfire, and the sky begins to darken into blue-black, and the moon shines, smiling at him, he thinks things might be okay. Taabe was named for the sun- his mother and father said he felt like their own ray of sunshine- and he feels like he’s looking for someone like the moon , one big, glowing sppirit among the rest of the stars, his opposite that he cannot help but be drawn to, a unique, rare curiosity that he cannot seem to find.
Despite that, Taabe will always feel comforted by the night sky.

Hi I know it's a bit weird but before I give you the details I was wondering if it would it be fine to have a Prey 2022 scenario with Taabe x S/O. Love the guy, he's an absolute gem. But there's not much content for him.
Ooohh yes!! I loved Prey! Best of the movies! 💕
Taabe was such a sweetie, such a good brother!!
Tumblr media
First off, he will absolutely brag to get your attention! Half the time you indulge him and the other half just bantering with him.
Naru likes you automatically! You’re her friend and in a way, you keep her brother humbled but she knows his feelings for you.
Also may tease you both (mostly him)!
Taabe has a bit of a soft side to him as well. Wanting to take you on walks in the woods, made a flower crown for you once, kissed you under the sunset
A whole sweetheart! Flatterer and always has a sweet compliment or nickname for you
Bit protective of you but knows you can also handle yourself
If you’re a healer, weaver, or would-be hunter like his sister, he’s entirely supportive of your choices and helps you with whatever you need
In the quieter moments, he can be a bit of a cuddler and kisses start off sweet and tender before his arms are around you.

ENJOY!!!
Taabe slotted his fingers between your own at the apex of your thighs, resting them against your spread legs. His eyes were closed, clouded in bliss while his mouth worked you over.
You gasped his name and bucked your hips, only a few others had gotten pussy clearance level like Taabe and he was the only one to do her justice. He was quick to figure you out two years ago, he had a good memory and picked up on cues, even if they were just barely visible to remind himself the next him he was granted permission to taste you.
You arched and wiggled around on the bed.
"I know petal, I know. Feels good though, doesn't it? Having my tongue on you... mmm, best dessert ever." Your husband, drunk on you already, half moaned against your thigh. He snuck a quick bite of the meat but soothed it with a soft kiss.
He had a way to make you forget, to clear your mind and wipe the slate clean. You felt him watching you as you ate outside, enjoying the quiet before heading back to the hustle of the city in a few days. Vacations never long enough to thoroughly enjoy, let alone with something preying on animals out here added to the plate. At least if it's an animal or some sick sinister poacher, you two were warm and safe in your cabin.
Taabe moaned against your cunt, poking and proving his tongue with short, pointed licks to your leaking entrance.
He rolled you over at some point, your bodies becoming one tangled, sweating, moaning mess. You cried into the pillows when you felt the blunt head of his cock rub wetly between your folds, the crown of it catching on your entrance.
You could feel him chuckled when you lifted your rear to hurry and get him inside you. He titled his hips a bit to give him the leverage he need and pushed all the way in, taking his time to bottom out.
"Fuck yes." The wispy ends of his long hair danced over your shoulders.
"Fill me up so good." You held onto the sheets, gathering them up in your hands.
"Mmmm I know petal, you take it like a real champ," Taabe leaned down and kissed the back of your head as he started to move his hips. "You like that don't you, baby? having me work you open for me. Still so fucking wet and skin fucking tight around me."
"Yes. Yes I love it."
Taabe chuckled again, pushing himself up to his elbows and worked himself against you, your slick coating his cock, slipping in and out at a breath punching pace.
"Fucks sake... if I didn't fuck a baby into you last time I sure am tonight!"
You squirmed and mewled for him, one hand leaving the hold on the covers to grab at his bare and thick thigh, nails digging into the meat of his cheek. He praised you, sneaking a hand underneath you to cup your mound, to press and circle your clit to get you off.
"Oh fuck, fuck me just like that. Just like that."
" 'm so fucking deep in your pussy right now, incredible."
You hung your head and tried your best to hold onto the engorging coil in your belly, fire stoked and played with by your thrust husband. "Not gonna' last baby, please. Make me cum, need to cum."
"Oh I know baby, I know. You're doing so fucking well, just hold on a little bit longer. Can you do that for me, petal? Wanna' cum together, I'll fuck you through it."
Taabe was out of breath, panting your name like it was the only thing he knew how to say. You smiled, blissed the fuck out and riding the tidal wave of pleasure and desire. The want to please him and yourself, to cum together. Taabe liked to mention how cock drunk you'd get, now here he was drunk and slurring from your cunt.
....
As if your husband knew what lay ahead, holding your head and nuzzling his smooth face against your own did you hear the foreshadowing words; "Keep an eye out for bears."
You wanted to return the favor as Taabe had done for you that morning, going down to the lake bed wasn't off limits or an unfamiliar route. You wanted to bring him a few rocks to add to your collection back home. You weren't expecting to see two cubs playing and rolling around across the way, so easily. Granted , yes, you were out in the elements, in their surroundings and home of the forest but, every other time you and/or his family had come up to the cabin, you had only seen footprints of bears, not actual, big fuzzy creatures. You ducked and flattened your chest and belly to the grass on your side, the rushing current deterring any other sound.
Fuck.
The two cubs were more preoccupied with tussling amongst themselves then with you, that tipped the scales in your favor but you weren't sure and couldn't see where their mother was. That made you nervous and as much as you willed yourself not to think and worry a fucking hole into the situation about it to cause your heartrate to jump, you couldn't help it.
You inched your way from the tumbling cubs, one pounced on the others' back, chomping lightly on the thick skin of their siblings neck with a cute but terrifying growl.
There was a clicking, almost rattle like behind you. Yet there was nothing there when you stole a chance to look. You quietly rolled along the bank, dirt and grass covering your city-girl scent the longer you and your husband stayed out in the wilderness. An added bonus, you thought, but not good enough.
The next unforeseen roll in the had you yelping as you pinched your back on a storm thrown branch. The little bears stopped in their play, beady eyes searching for the disruption. You held your breath.
Too late.
The loud sniffing of the mama bear thankfully came from the other side of the lake, but still way too close for any inkling of comfort. You pressed your face into the dirt. Shitshitshitshit.
It wasn't enough. You took a peek and unfortunately caught the eye of the giant bear, she stood up on her hind legs and roared. You'd been spotted. It was far too late and well overdue to try and yell and clack the rocks you'd found together to frighten her away. Your heart lurched into your throat. She roared again and wobbled a bit into the rushing water.
You jerked at the burly sight, another unfortunate event which made her snuffle the air again. That strange clicking clicked behind you and instead of looking for its' source you carefully pulled the long, flat grass and slipped into the water. Maybe, just maybe if you kept a low profile you could use the current to your advantage and coast along with it. If you could just cover your mouth, these waters were jagged like teeth from the rocks that had tumbled down. It would shred your clothes and your body, bears can smell blood...
Mama bear dropped down onto all fours then, another roar and gnashing of her teeth echoed as a few rocks tumbled into the water behind you. Knowing to never turn your back on a beast, let alone one in the absolute wild, you took your chance and hopped up in the middle of the lake and bolted. Your panicked splashing on two legs was drowned out by her four.
You didn't scream. You didn't dare scream even though every joint in your body willed you to. Even when you heard that clicking sound.
There was a well built beaver dam just ahead, the mama bear close behind and you felt the rush of her air and speed and chose to dive under the current. Catching the hole the (thankfully!) plump beaver had built you pulled yourself through the thick lake mud, coating your body and clothing. The bear rushed up to the dam, a harsh wave in her flurry doused you with water as you covered your mouth, terrified of the gnashing teeth and razor sharp claws.
....
Your clothes were ruined, your body still reeling and shaking from the encounter of a fucking lifetime. It was so big, so ravenous. Your socks were squishy and the evening air made you shiver as you held yourself and made it back to the cabin.
Without a care in the world you watched Taabe hum to himself in the doorway of the kitchen, moving a light tune coming from an old radio that until now, you were certain was for decoration only.
The smell of sautéed onions filled your noise, better than the dirt and grim from the lake bed.
Your steps were soggy.
Taabe moved from one side of the kitchen to the other, only stopping with a genuine smile when he caught sight of you. But that quickly changed and he was rushing towards you, you couldn't hear what he was saying but his facial expressions were frantic as he shook you.
"Hey hey! petal, what's wrong? what happened?"
You came to and stared at your husband, he cupped your face.
"It's not... not safe out there."
"What? what happened? jeez, you're fucking soaked! let's get you out of these clothes before you get sick." Taabe helped you into the bathroom, the two of you just barely fit as he sat you down on the toilet and he helped take off your socks and shoes.
You stood under the water, watching the dirt glide down the drain. You wanted to scrub the junk from under your nails, images of what happened or could have happened by the lake flashed behind your eyes every time you shut your eyes.
Fur. Fangs. Claws. Blood.
"Here," your husband softly said with a steaming mug of tea, sitting you down on the couch, wrapped in an oversize hoodie and spare sweats. "Do you feel better?"
"Better would be an understatement," you chuckled without humor. "We should go."
"Why? did you run into someone out there?"
"No. Not exactly," you took a hot sip and let it warm through you before turning to look at him next to you, concern on laden on his eyes and mouth. "There's something out there, Taabe."
"What did you see?"
You took a shaky breath and another sip before explaining.
"... it was massive, bigger than the mama bear and twice, no... ten times as ferocious! it was like I could only make out half of its' frame, like it was shrouded with something. It made this terrible clicking sound and killed that bear, right next to me in the lake. Swiped it right open. Blood went everywhere, it covered its' head with it," you recalled with a shiver, seeing something so grisly up close made your mouth water. "I was lucky it was preoccupied so I could get out of that dam and coast down stream."
Taabe wiped his mouth.
"It wasn't from here... or maybe it was but-- it's face..."
Taabe looked at you then, taking the warm mug from your hands. "What about it?"
"It was like..." you brought up both hands and pinched them together. "Like pincers or mandibles. Not like--"
"Mandibles" Taabe took a long drink of your tea and set it down on the coffee table. "Yautja."
"What?"
"Yautja. The elders used to tell us stories about them, warned us about them, tried to frighten us before bed so we'd come home on time, in fear of getting caught in one of their nets. They're hunters, predators," Taabe gave you a curious look as he spoke. "You weren't a threat to it."
"What does that mean?"
"That's why you were able to escape it. They're supposed to have these helmets that can sus out the nearest threat, it only challenges something the deem worthy of a fight. To the death. Thankfully then, the bear was revved up because of her cubs being close to you, it attacked her and not you."
"Do you think it would follow me then, follow me here!" you jumped up and ran to the door and locked it, even though it was already locked up tight.
"No petal, you weren't a threat. It wouldn't track you unless you meant harm to it." Taabe was after you, his warm hands on your shoulders. "You're safe now. But you're right, if that Yautja is out there we should leave."
"Taabe, I'm scared."
"I know, petal. Lucky for you, you have an incredibly brave and capable husband." He chuckled at your guff of approval, hugging him tightly when he turned you around.
He was right but you were still nervous about that thing outside, the name of it circling your head like tiny, cartoon birds.
Yautja.
....
You couldn't sleep. Quick flash images of that bipedal creature, with it's claws and working jaw, drinking blood, no doubt the creature that took down those buffalo. Took trophies. That unexplainable sound, the clicking.
You sighed and got out of bed, mindful of a soundly sleeping Taabe beside you. He snorted when you placed the hand that was on your hip, to the mattress and went to the window.
Wind blew through the trees, the moon shone brightly between the gaps in the leaves. You hoped that it didn't follow you, that whatever heat signature you'd left wasn't enough for it to catch on to your heat.
"What're doin'?"
You looked over your shoulder, no matter the season Taabe was one to sleep shirtless, and rubbed his jaw on his shoulder.
"Can't sleep."
You just caught a small smile on his face. "Thought so. Want me to eat you out again?"
You chuckled. "Really?"
"Yes really," he preened in the darkness. "You know I'll do it just for fun."
"You're insatiable."
"Isn't that why you married me?" He joked and patted your empty side of the bed.
"No," you left the window and climbed back into bed, wrapping your limbs around him. "I married you for your cock, not your mouth."
"Yeah right." Taabe laughed and kissed you. "You're a terrible liar."
Your husband was right, you weren't any good at fibbing or white lies, even omissions made you sick and you had an eager need to confess when you did. Taabe had you out of your mind, nothing of what happened at the lake made any coherent sense as he spread your legs apart, his mouth seeking out any flesh he could get his lips and blunt ends of his teeth on once he got those sweatpants off.
Nipping the chunky flesh of your inner thigh, groping the outsides of them as he navigated his tongue between your folds. Taking his time to capture your inner labia between his lips, making you arch and reveal that part of yourself.
"Baby, you read me like a book..."
Taabe nodded against you, hooking his arms and hands around your hips, an attempt to slow your wriggling. Your labored breathing like music to his ears, you could tell he couldn't help himself and nor you as he left your pussy wanting more, rolling you onto your side, his hand beneath your shirt as the other pulled down his own pants and rutted against you. Slipping hotly between your wetness, gathering what wetness he could before plunging himself deep in one fluid, rocking motion. You mewled and bit at the sheets.
....
It's noticeable how quiet the woods are, no chirping, nothing. You hoisted your bag over your shoulder, following your husband down the path to your car, to sanctuary. A leak but safe air hung around as you walked, noting the empty headed skulls of animals laid at your feet, bloody pools that stunk. Even small creatures were considered a threat apparently.
Taabe cut down a few wiry vines and bushes along the way, making way for your feet. You trudged behind him then stopped when that clicking sounded again. You stopped and looked around. Nothing in sight, you kept on until a single, thick metal arrow nearly clipped your ear.
You ducked and grabbed for your partner.
His wild eyes told you to be silent, a single finger to his lips as he crept a bit further, telling you to stay put.
Peering around, another arrow shot out, just beside you into a fallen log. You held your breath.
The clicking sound was deafening, covering your ears after tapping where Taabe had slipped through your fingers. You called his name as another arrow came flying through the air, ducking down as you had by the lake you made out the creature. The monster. The Yautja. Sizable and menacing it sniffed around, its' bone helmet seeked you both out behind the brush.
Taabe circled back and attempted a headlock, your husband was big but not big enough to engross the predator. Taabe landed on his back with a grunt, fishing for his weapons when you clapped, trying to get its' attention. It snarled and started towards you in heavy, thick strides.
"Petal! iNo!"
The scary creature chased you down the hill, even when you tumbled and rolled, kicking up dirt and debris. Vines roots roots tore your sleeves as you landed in a small clearing. You caught your breath and ran, zig zagging through trunks and brush untii you thought you were out of reach.
You tucked and rolled behind a thick fallen log, catching what you could for breath. Taabe threw his hatchet towards it, landing into the trunk with a CHUNK.
The air was stifling, a fog of heaviness leaves you panting for breath, hidden behind the log. Another arrow hit the trunk of the tree in front of you, scrambling back you knock your head against the barrier. Tears have long spilled from your eyes. You're exhausted. You're desperate. The safety of your car miles and miles away by now seemed hopeless. You'd die out here.
You didn't dare look behind you, the sounds of Taabe grunting and fighting, whooping when he'd made a direct hit. You did steal a glance when it grew quiet.
Peering just over the log you watched the alien beast turn in circles, Taabe wasn't in your line of sight but you knew he was around. The creature made that clicking sound again, with a rush of leaves Taabe came running full speed, an attempt to spear the thing with its' own arrow your husband had plucked at some point.
Taabe broke through its' skin, it gave out a terrible screech as Taabe used the talon sharp edge to slice at its' legs. He came quickly to your side of the tree, hiding behind the opposite side, out of breath and waiting.
The alien stomped and roared. Taabe hopped over the log to you, a few scratches slashed his face and hands, you'd have to disinfect them with that little emergency kit Naru had given you for Christmas last year.
"This is as far as I go. No more." Taabe grabbed your hand, bloody and covered with muck, he gave it a squeeze. He gripped the hilt of his hatchet with the other. "This is it."
"What? no no no don't say that."
"It thinks I am the threat; not you."
No. This was wrong. Taabe wasn't supposed to use those words unless he meant them, and surely he didn't mean them now. He'd be willing to do just about anything for the comfort and safety of hiss family and friends, you were certainly more than that. He couldn't mean them. He just couldn't!
"No! We're supposed to do all things together, Taabe."
"And we are, petal."
"I don't want you to--"
"You can't go where I'm going," he cupped your face, squishing your cheeks like he'd always done, assurance that you weren't able to say anything further. His glassy brown eyes told you more than his voice ever could as he pressed his forehead to yours. "Not yet."
"Taabe!"
"Take care of our family." His kiss was feverish and on the verge of being sloppy. It tasted salty. "I love you petal."
"No Taabe wait!"
He didn't.
He let out a war cry and went to fight another round. Only this time you scrambled up after him. You took out your blade and made your way to help but... the predator was choking Taabe with both claws, hefting him up into the air. Your husband kicked and scratched at the gnarled hands, his hair shaking from side to side.
You screamed his name and they both turned to you. The alien snarled and moved out of the way when you took aim and chucked your blade at it, it stuck into the meat of its' thigh.
Taabe held out his hand for you to stay put. You aren't the threat...
As the creature looked at you, he gave Taabe a hard shake by the neck and tossed him like a used tissue, Taabe's head hit a tree funny and made a sickening sound. The laid limp and still face first in the dirt.
Your scream was shrill and terrible.
Through your hysterics and shock you fell to the ground, a mechanical hiss sounded behind you. Large footfalls crunched the branches and debris on the ground, the Yautja Taabe mentioned, bent on to its' haunches and looked over your husbands' body.
Its' large clawed hand cupped the back of his head and you screamed.
"No! you leave him whole," the Yautja, without it's bone-like mask tilted its' head to you. You swallowed and got your bearings, what was left of your nerves and at this point without your husband, you had nothing to lose. Its' features completely foreign with or without the armor. And maybe it would kill you too. "He needs to be whole."
The beast looked down at Taabe, longer than what was comfortable. You wiped your face and eyes.
"You should be proud to have a warrior for a mate, he was a worthy opponent."
You felt your knees weaken at the low timbre and sound of this alien creature speaking to you. In English and not some garbled space language.
"You... Y-you can talk."
It looked at you and took its' hand off your husbands' skull. "Of course."
"And you understand..."
It nodded.
"Fuck you," you shook out and stumbled to your feet, kicking up some dirt and leaves as you marched up to it. "Fuck you! You took my partner you big fuck," you pushed his scaly flesh but he didn't even move, just gave you a curious look. "You-- he was my husband! My Taabe and you just... fuck you."
"Apologies little one, just know he will make a fine-"
"He won't make a 'fine' anything! If you need a fucking trophy take this instead," you spat on shoulder, again he didn't make a move as you crouched down, stroking Taabe's fine hair. You'd never feel them between your fingers again, to help wash and condition it in your shower back home. Home seemed so far away. You sniffled and blinked the tears that slipped out, splotching on the ground as you dug in Taabe's back pocket, fishing out his keepsake.
You held it to your chest and rolled it over one final time in your hand. "Here. This is Taabe's trophy, he earned it on his first hunt with his father."
The alien took the leather wrapped antler, it looked puny in his palm, the nail of his thumb was damn near twice the size. He sniffed it and his mandibles twitched, they looked insanely sharp and just as menacing as he did when he stood at its' full height. To your surprise he gave it back to you.
"You keep it."
"Why? Taabe said you guys are head hunters, collect trophies."
"We do," he stood, slowly and placed his mask he was clutching with his other claw, back on, tubular almost dreads swaying over his shoulder. "As I said; your mate was worthy. Which means so are you."
"Huh?"
"You'll make a better trophy, I can put you on display for my brothers and sisters."
"What? No. I'd rather you kill me."
"That can be arranged."
Without so much as another peep the alien grabbed you by the collar of your shirt, hoisting you over his shoulder as if you weighed nothing. Your piercing screams and flailing didn't slow the alien down, with a stead pace he carried you into the forest, away from Taabe, away from your life, your world.
"Put me down! No no no," you punched his shoulder and cried, your arms aching to stay with your husband, to hold him. "Taabe!"
The alien grunted out something in another language and punched what looked to be coordinates onto his arm that held you.
"Taabe..."
Tears streamed down your face and your palm felt hot, gripping the bound antler tighter as he carried you away. Through blurry vision and sobs for your partner, you swore you saw him move. Maybe lifted his head a little, one arm out stretched to you on the forest floor.
But you couldn't be sure.

Can you PLEASE make a Taabe fic? Literally been DYING trying to find some. Someone had requested for a fic for someone else to do but they didn’t exactly make it. It’s about how Taabe is forced to attend a ceremony to win the hand of the reader, to marry even though he didn’t want to. He kept trying to mess up on purpose but ended up winning by default since the competitors were bad. And when he ended up winning, reader comes out and shoots her arrow right through his, “winning” her own hand. It’s pretty much the famous scene from the movie Brave where Merida fights for her own hand in marriage.
Hope you like it!!!
****
Request: Taabe x reader
Comanche Translations
pisuníi - skunk
tuibitsi - handsome young man
kwuuhtukatu - married (man)
patsi - older sister
petu - daughter
***
Taabe sighed irritably.
His mother chided him, “You’re our war chief. It’s your duty to compete at the marriage ceremony.”
“I don’t want to marry someone I’ve never met.” He found the whole thing distasteful.
“You don’t want to bring honor to your family? To you poor old mother?”
Naru tried to protest, but was shushed. Taabe glanced at her, happy for the support. But Mother would not be swayed in the slightest. “You will compete tomorrow, for the hand of your ally and neighbor. You’ll see that this is for the best.”
Taabe decided to stay silent. There was no point in arguing.
***
“So, you’re gonna get married, huh?” Naru said teasingly. The long walk to the ceremony had been awkwardly silent. Taabe was about to snap at her, but she continued, “You know you’re better than these other pisuníi. So, what are you gonna do about it?”
He glared at her silently.
“Lose. On purpose.”
His eyes widened.
“Obviously look like you’re trying to win. But just… lose.” Naru shrugged.
“What are the two of you talking about?”
Naru sighed. “Nothing, Mother,” Taabe said defensively.
“You’ll both be the death of me.”
Taabe grumbled. But he thought about Naru’s plan the rest of the way.
***
He was embarrassed right from the start. He had to lose to this guy? He shook his head. No matter. Naru had a good plan. He just needed the willpower to execute it. He stood to the side in the ring, pumping himself up to lose realistically.
His mother sidled up. “My tuibitsi,” she cooed, embracing him.
“It’s time,” a gruff voice sounded behind him. His mother let go as Taabe turned. He stalked into the ring, trying to look like he wanted to win.
His opponent definitely did. He glowered at Taabe. When the signal was given, they circled each other slowly. It was hand to hand combat.
His partner struck. It was a bit clumsy. Taabe side stepped it without thinking, tripping him as he did. Oops. His opponent leapt up and again charged Taabe. Taabe flipped him. He thudded into the ground. This was going terribly. Taabe backed off, waiting for the other man to get up.
The crowed jeered. His opponent came at him. Taabe let him land a couple of punches, but reflexively punched him in the chin when he took a head punch. He went down. Damn. Get up, get up.
He laid there, dazed. Damn.
***
Naru blurted out her pep talk under her breath as they walked. “Remember, you are here to lose. You are Here. To. Lose. You don’t wanna be kwuuhtukatu. So fight for that.”
Taabe nodded. He needed to get his head in the game and let go of his ego. Naru was right. He stepped up to the next task. He was up against the remaining challengers. Five other men eyed him. He sighed and let his mother fix his hair for the race.
After a final moment, they lined up. It was a straight race through the meadow and across the stream, to the old, gnarled tree. He could lose this.
The crowd cheered them as they started. Taabe took an easy but believable pace. He quickly fell into fourth place. Perfect.
He followed behind his competitors. Suddenly one of them fell. That was fine. He was still third, he thought, as he passed the man up.
The river was deeper than expected. Taabe spit water out of his mouth and swam. He lost sight of the two ahead of him. He stopped for a second on the small beach to wipe water from his eyes. Then he ran on.
As he approached the tree, Taabe looked for the other two runners. He realized the crowd was chanting his name. Oh no. He nearly slowed his pace, but he couldn’t be obvious. He ran on, hoping someone would get a burst of energy.
They didn’t. He touched the tree first, defeated, as the crowd cheered him. Damn.
***
Taabe didn’t know if it was good or bad he was going last. His other remaining competitors gripped their bows nervously. Naru scolded him, “You suck! Okay? Today you are terrible at everything you are good at!” He nodded sullenly.
The archers lined up. He took his place last. The target was extremely far. Only the best of bowsmen could hope to hit it.
The first man went. He held the bow for a long time. Too long, Taabe thought. Finally he released. It was to the right of center. The man cursed.
The second man went. He was faster, too fast. The arrow missed.
Taabe stepped up. Dammit. He stalled for a minute, then gave up and released, aiming but not to closely. The damn thing went straight and true, hitting just to the left of the target.
The crowd erupted in cheers. Taabe let his face be stone.
Something whizzed past his face. Alarmed, he stumbled back. The crowd gasped. Taabe followed their gaze. His arrow was split? He jogged out to get a better view. It was. Did this mean he lost? He actually lost?
He turned around, looking neutral. The crowd was murmuring. The elders stood in a circle, talking. Taabe looked to who had fired the arrow. A woman! He didn’t know her. She looked at him fiercely, bow still in hand.
Finally one of the elders stepped forward. “The challenge…is valid. But they must reshoot.”
Taabe walked over to the woman as the target was reset.
“Great shot, patsi.”
“Thanks,” she said cooly.
Taabe went first this time. He aimed carefully, but his heart still was not in it. The arrow hit just near the center.
The woman nearly pushed him out of the way. Releasing quickly, she split his arrow again. Impressed, he turned to her, “What’s your name?”
She smiled, but was interrupted. “My petu has won her own hand this day,” her father embraced her. Smiling more broadly, she said, “At least my erstwhile husband is handsome.”
Taabe felt himself getting hot. Naru sidled up next to him, “Second guessing your loss?”
Taabe tsked at her.

Wait you all guys are looking for reader x taabe fic. Here my gullible ass looking for something gay 🥲. Seriously, I wasn't even expecting anything even after this, I searched with a little hope and found nothing. Honestly,I don't even know whom to ship him with. And one more important thing, how the hell, he has not become the tumblr pretty man yet? He is so gorgeous and wtf, people here are sleeping on him.
I wasn’t looking for fanfics or to ship him with anyone. I just wanted to see people gush about him like he deserves. HE DESERVES PRETTY MAN STATUS

Plucking the fruit from the bush I quickly place it in my bag before raising my arm and sneezing into my elbow. I sniff before moving on to the next fruit plant. Throughout the day my sneezing and coughing gets worse, my voice becomes croaky and eyes start drooping.
I trek back to my home following behind the others, rubbing my eyes as I watch the sky start to dim. Dropping off the fruits at the storage tipi I sit down by the fire with a few others. It’s where we wait for the hunters to come back, Naru sits down next to me and Aruka sits down just afterwards.
“Hey.” I say tiredly, not even managing a smile.
“(y/n), you don’t look so good.” Naru says and Aruka raises her hands to my face. She holds my face and turns it looking at the bags I know are under my eyes and who knows what else.
“I’ll get you some medicine, you look awful.” Aruka says, worry painted on her face.
“No, I’m fine really, I’m just tired.” I say starring at the dancing flames.
“Go to bed then.” Naru suggests.
“I will after Taabe gets back.” I say almost as a compromise.
“No, you need to go to bed now, (y/n), I’ll send Taabe to see you when he gets back.” She says with her hand on my back and a small smile on her face.
“Okay, fine.” I say getting up begrudgingly.
“I’ll send him to you later with some food and medicine.”
Aruka has always looked after since my parents died when I was a young child. She practically treats me like her daughter and is set on me and Taabe getting ‘married’.
Dragging my feet I make my way to my tipi. I quickly succumb to sleep when I lay down. It’s easy to fall asleep when what I have look at is the colours of the sky twirling around mixing with the clouds.
Through my closed eyes I see light coming through the entrance (AN: I hope you guys know what I mean) and slowly open my eyes.
“(y/n)?” I hear a voice that I know is Taabe’s.
My eyelids flutter open as they adjust to the light from the fire.
“Hi.” I say with a tired voice.
He crouches down in front of me holding a bowl of something.
“My mother made you something, it’s got medicine in it.” He says in a hushed voice as I sit up, shimmying out of my blanket. He tries to pass it to me but he’s interrupted with me coughing nearly spilling it.
“Sorry.” I say quietly as he nearly spilt the hot food on himself.
“How are you feeling?” He asks passing the bowl back to me then placing his hand on my forehead. “You’re quite hot.”
“Tired and sad.” I say with a small, fake frown.
“Why?” He asks kneeling down on the ground.
“Because you weren’t here.” I say with a chuckle as he reaches for my hand.
“Well, I’m here now, are you happier now?” He says, a smile etched in his face.
“Yes, much.” I say managing a smile as he leans down, kissing my cheek.
“You should get some more rest after you’ve eaten.” He rubs my back gently as I eat some of the soup like food.
“I’m fine, I can still do my gathering and jobs tomorrow.” I say sipping on the liquid.
“I don’t think you should,” He pauses looking at my slightly annoyed face. “Just in case, my love, just in case I think you should take the day off.”
“But I’ll be fine-”
“Just in case, I think you should stay in bed tomorrow.” He interrupts me and I sigh.
“Fine.” I say giving in. “I won’t go gathering tomorrow. But I still think I could.”
“Thank you,” He says stoking my hair and kissing my forehead before standing up again. “Get some rest.” He says, I nod and he leaves the tipi.
---------
The sun breaks through my eyelids, blurring my vision as I slowly open my eyes. I sit up slowly, rubbing my eyes, not hearing anyone talking outside. Everyone must’ve gone to work already. Pulling on my boots and draping my jacket over myself I venture out of my tipi. I feel the cold nipping at my skin so pull my clothing closer to myself.
I walk out, towards the communal area (the fire), I sit down on one of the logs and greet Aruka who’s cooking something.
“Hello.” I say tiredly.
“Oh, (y/n), how are you feeling?” She asks putting down her tools.
“Fine.” I say with a sigh. “Is there anything to eat?” I ask her looking over at the pot she’s cooking out of.
“I saved you some food from earlier.” She says holding out the food with a smile. I take the cooked meat off of her and dig in not noticing how hungry I was until after I finished.
Sitting by the fire, a feeling of uselessness overwhelms me, I could be gathering or cooking but Aruka won’t let me do anything.
“Are you sure there isn’t something I can do?” She sighs, it’s got to be at least the fourth time I’ve asked this now.
“Why don’t you do some beading or sewing?” She says.
“I don’t know how.” I say quietly, embarrassed I never learnt.
“I’ll show you, I always do beading in my spare time.” She says with a soft smile. “Come on.” She says taking me to her tipi.
She shows me how to do it and it seems simple when she does it.
“Do you know how to do it now?” I nod even though I know I don’t know how. “Okay, I’m going to help Kateri with her baby, I’ll see you later..” She says and leaves.
Sitting on the floor of the tipi I look at the scattered beads and frayed rope. Confused, I thread the pieces together and try to re-bead it but it doesn’t work so I undo it. I repeat different things and try different methods until finally I created something that bares some semblance to a necklace.
The beads are in no sort of pattern and the colours don’t go together. Where the rope is knotted the ends are frayed and sticking out. Sighing, I place it on the floor next to the other pieces of rope and beads. I look at it on the floor and regret not learning earlier in my life, I was too busy playing with Taabe and Naru, I roll my eyes but smile at the thought.
I move the necklace to the side and try to make a new one but to no avail. Eventually I give up and just sit there practicing the different types of knots I know, I had much more success with that.
Finally the hunters get back along with the gatherers. Basically everyone finishes their work for the day. Chatter envelops the camp, laughing and cheering. I’ll go out when it’s time for food but until then I’ll sit and wallow in my misery and boredom.
That is until the cloth door is pulled aside and Taabe walks in.
“Hey.” He says sitting down on the ground in fron of me.
“Hey.”
“How are you feeling?” He asks pressing the palm of his hand against my forehead. “Your not so hot anymore.”
“Wow, thanks.” I say jokingly but he remains oblivious for a moment too long. Then he gets it and chuckles. One of the things I love about him is his obliviousness to everything but hunting. Put him in the jungle and he’s aware of every single thing, tracks, sounds, everything but put him anywhere else he isn’t so aware. Like jokes, and flirting and things like that he’s completely oblivious to but it’s cute.
“What have you been doing all day? Sleeping I hope.” He strokes the side of my face.
“Mostly, but I tried something new, I tried making a necklace.” I pull it out from behind me. “It was gonna be for you but it didn’t go very well.” I say looking at it, sad I couldn’t even manage to make him a gift. “I think, I’ll just get rid of it.” I say sadly.
“No you won’t.” He says in doubt.
“I’ll rip the damn thing!” I assure him imitating ripping it.
“You will not!” He says taking it out of my reach until I stop making grabby hands. “I love it, okay?” He says putting it on.
“No, you don’t have to, really-” I say looking at the ground
“I know I don’t have to, I love it, anything you make or do I love.” He says sincerely. “I’ll wear it forever.” He says and from now on every time I see him he’s wearing that damn necklace. He wears it to meals, he wears it hunting, he wears it in bed. And every time I look at him wearing it, even from a distance I can’t help but smile.

I'm trying to work through the requests, I don't want you guys to think I'm not writing them out of dislike for the request I just have quite a few to work through.

I can't get this out of my head but a Taabe falling for the reader in a Pixar's brave archery scenario. Where he's forced to participate in a tournament to win the hand of the reader, the chieftain's child in marriage.
But even though he has no interest in winning and purposely tries to fail, the other competitors are so bad that he keeps winning by default. And during the archery trial, someone tried to cheat by throwing off his aim. It had the opposite effect that both sides wanted. Then the most famous scene happens with his arrow being the one that the S/O shot right through.
I know this is from a whole back but I’m finally getting to answer it 😆
Taabe is shameless once he sees you shoot off the arrow that splits his. Heart eyes galore!!
Others are chastising and arguing with you over what you’ve done, but not him. First to defend you and first to gladly concede in said competition if it means to get your attention.
Also, I can also see him being the type to try and sneak you away under the guise of archery training but really it’s more of getting to spend more alone time with you :)

Taken (Part One)
Fandom: Prey (2022) Pairing: Taabe x Female reader Summary: on a routine visit to Taabe's family cabin, things don't go as planned. Length: LONG Warnings: NSFW 18 + ONLY, established relationship, explicit content, strong content, reader discretion is advised, animal death mention(s), fluff, blood, pregnancy talk, smut, unprotected p in v, creampie. ENJOY!!!
Many had tried and failed to take your hand, to keep you company or just in general. Those selfish men throughout your early adulthood only seemed to care how good you looked on their arm, what higher status of trophy wife could you level up to or simply put, how they could get you barefoot and pregnant before someone else decided their feathers were prettier.
Only one was triumphant. Taabe.
He'd won your favor and line of sight when he told you he'd rather walk with you than lead the way. Just as smart and brave as his sister Naru. He was resilient and patient, taking your date declines as a test of sorts. Flowers would appear at your door or at your desk. Sometimes there was a card, a little note of something sweet, thoughtful and neat boxes with a gem or stone hand picked from his hikes.
You were hooked, smitten with your friends older brother, grateful and sassy to thank you for taking him off her hands so she could study and do what she wanted. He rumpled her hair at that.
He did the same on your wedding day. After declaring the love and dedication you held in front of your family and friends at his family's hand built, blood, sweat and tears cabin in the rocky hills. That at least stopped the tears from slipping down her face after he embraced her.
Taabe's enthusiastic, cheerful cry bounced back through the hills, on your way to the family cabin as a long and well deserved vacation blossomed before you.
Taabe was just a little further up the trail, your car wouldn't make it up the incline and you thought of everything that would go horribly wrong if you even tried.
Your husband raised his fist in the air, signaling that you were close. You knew the way well, after years of coming up here with Naru for a quiet girl's trip, with Taabe or with the whole family for summer get togethers. The beauty and vastness of what nature could provide, left you breathless. The rich landscape, the weather beaten cliffs and jagged rocks that jutted like fists through the ground, little gopher holes and garden variety, yet safe little snakes and critters didn't skip a beat with each and every visit.
"Almost there, petal! I can see the roof from here." He shouted from the ridgeline.
Taabe smiled when you reached him, pulling you in close to his side as you two overlooked the pristine surroundings. One of his braids tickled your cheek.
"I'll never get over this view." You exhaled, a little fog hung in between your words.
"Me neither." Taabe wasn't talking about the forest and exposed rocky hills. His gaze was fixed on you.
Taabe snuck a kiss that left you on your toes, tilting your chin just so, savoring a quiet moment. It also left you with the impression that wouldn't be the only sort of kiss you would be receiving that day.
Another fifteen minutes, hand in hand now over the uneven terrain until you made out the familiar dark grey shutters, the smoky blue front door and single filed rocks that made up the entrance way.
"Home sweet home." Taabe dug out the key from his front pocket, and held open the door.
For being abandoned most of the year, the family cabin didn't reek or was overly dusted with sandy wind through unforeseen cracks in the wooden walls or doors.
A cobweb and united insects maybe, but no little rodents footprints or leaving could be seen. Just the rush of wind from cracking the door, sunlight casting in through the half open blinds in the front room.
You set down your bags, Taabe shifted the food pack over his shoulder and made his way to the kitchen. You were quick to follow, knowing it was rather heavy with at least three days worth of food and drinks for two grown adults. You remembered leaving a few spare boxes of pasta and bags of wild rice here for the next visit or gathering.
Taabe had this charisma, this glow that drew people in like a moth to a flame. He was carefree yet disciplined and with the right tone and flash of his eyes, he could (and had) convince anyone to do just about anything.
Which is how he got you to undress so quickly and outside, just behind the cabin. It wouldn't be the first time you'd fool around outdoors but it was usually in the backseat of your car on a cooler summer night, not in the shivering cold of an early October.
Taabe noticed your teeth chattering, grabbing two quick flannels throws that held the chill from the woods deep beyond the property. You bounced in place, holding your chest. Taabe chuckled, laying one down, then you, then him slotting between your legs, followed by the other blanket.
No light pollution could ruin this tryst at the cabin, the glow from the full moon and surrounding, gleaming stars as far as you could make out behind your husbands head. Time seemed to slow as Taabe rutted into you, sucking in a breath when you dug your nails into the thick meat of his hips. You watched his face morph into a satisfied grin, holding your face as he smoothly bottomed out, making room and stretching you out.
"Baby, you gotta’ move. I'm gonna lose it." You whined and moved your hips, arching up into him as he started to set an agonizing pace in the grass.
"Already? I just got in." Taabe joked and nipped your chin, running the thick flat of his tongue over your open mouth and cheek. "You know damn well the first stretch is my favorite. Gotta' savor how wet you get from me, my love. Squeezing me fuckin’ tight too, Jesus.”
You groaned with a smile, Taabe said the nicest things. Even when they were laced with something deeper, more powerful than the thrusts he was delivering on your behalf. You squeezed your eyes shut when he hid his face in your neck, he sunk deeper into your sex, hoisting one of your legs up a little higher at his waist.
"I love you so much. Love our little family," Taabe mumbled against your throat, kisses sloppy and wet, leaving behind tails of drool as you fucked. The blanket slipped from his shoulders, the moon catching the shadows of his muscles making him look positively massive. "You, me, our future babies. I can't fucking wait."
"Yeah?" You whined, knowing how badly he wanted to extend your family, watch it blossom and grow. He'd sometimes talk about it on his sleep, seeking you out in your bed, holding you close enough to hear his desire. To see you swell, cupping your breasts, aching to add father to husband.
"It's gonna take, this time. I can feel it." Taabe pushed up onto his forearms, crossing them above your head. "We're gonna' make our baby right now petal, tonight. Right fucking here. Just like our ancestors before us-- shit that feels good!-- I'm gonna make us parents."
Your whimpers were swallowed by his kisses, groaning against your lips how good you felt, to clench around his cock again, how badly he wanted to fill you up, what a good wife you were.
"Fuck Taabe!" You had to look away from his pricing eyes, content on watching you untangle yourself from your webbing orgasm. You probably looked frantic, grabbing his skin that heated through you and the blankets, making him sweat and engorged with power. "Yes! yesyesyes... I'm gonna' cum. Make me cum, cum with me. Knock me up."
Taabe smirked and gave you a tongue first kiss and pushed himself up, grabbing under your knees and pressing them to your now feverish chest. His thrusts went deeper, harder and you swore at the fullness.
"That's what my petal wants, that's what my petal gets," Taabe fucked down into you with a grunt and curse of his own, taking his eyes away from your face to where you were joined and getting fucked. Syrupy arousal coating his cock with every pull out and every push back in. "Here it comes baby, here it fucking comes!"
Taabe had just enough time to rub the pads of his fingertips, calloused but still soft enough to treat your swollen clit to some relief. You came with a sob of his name, your hands had minds of their own as they twisted and fisted the blanket and some poor strands of grass, as a new flood of slick released to coat his pumping cock.
"Fucks sake!" Taabe moaned, your pulsing walls pulling him in and suddenly you felt him release, coating your womb hopefully with a blessing. Taabe made beautiful sounds when he came, an almost whine here, a broken sob or hiccupping sigh there. Combined with the sounds of nature, doing one of the most natural things in the world brought you closer to your husband.
He rested his forehead finally on your collar, a faint but ever there slow chant of 'yes' made you smile and hold him close.
....
The Chokecherry trees called your name the next morning. The promise of fresh jam and pies for two of your favorite coworkers had you grabbing for one of Naru's woven baskets. The sun was settling into that golden noon-ish hour as you set out behind the cabin.
Half a basket full and good few feet of foliage cover later, your heart stopped. There was a strange whirling high above. Granted there was an airspace not exactly near by but decently close and there had been passing planes and copters but... this sound was much louder and terribly foreign.
With your head turned up, squinting through the sun streaks and bald spots from leaves you walked further into the woods, careful of the ground floor and wild, serpentine roots. The clouds dissipated, leaving behind brush strokes of white against the bright blue.
The whirling hastened and whatever cosmic boulder of noise sounded, sounded like it cracked the sky. Broke through the barrier, your dropped the fruit and covered your ears in confusion.
And then-- achingly quiet-- it was gone.
While you looked around the forest trees, something terrible occurred to you and you gingerly picked up the basket.
The woods were completely silent.
"Did you hear that? What the he'll was that?!" You stomped into the cabin, leaving your boots outside the door. Taabe was just coming out of the bathroom, drenched and brushing his teeth in just a fluffy towel. He nodded.
"Sounded fuckin' big!" Taabe mumbled around the foam.
"I've never heard anything like that before." You shook your head, still in a state of shock as you moved past him, to the kitchen. That ringing pumped in your ears as you caught your breath.
You left the cherries on the counter, looking out at the quiet world outside from the small window.
"Probably military, " Taabe said, clear and fresh as he stood behind you and touched your shoulders. "The base isn't too far from here, remember? Might be one of those big fuckin' helicopters... Black Hawks? Thunderbirds? Whatever they call 'em."
"Yeah. Maybe..."
Just because his words were true, didn't excuse the way your stomach flipped.
"You wanna' come out with me? Gonna' take bow and see if I can snag us something for dinner."
"You sure? What if it is the military? What if their doing some sort of training exercise? We could throw them off and-"
"Nonsense, petal. We're civilians! They'll know the difference if we run into 'em."
That was true too, you supposed. Taabe's lips were now stained a light red. "Hey! I didn't wash those yet."
"Aye, I'll be fine. Nothing has killed me yet." Taabe chuckled and bopped you on the nose before sauntering out of the kitchen. And dropping his towel with a wink.
....
It hit you first, the sickly warm iron smell. You'd worked at your uncle's butcher shop when you were in high school and you knew the smell of fresh blood well. Though this was thicker, hotter and fresher than hanging slabs in a deep cooler. Taabe halted next to you, giving you an odd look.
"Don't you smell that?"
Taabe sniffed around then grimaced as a feather light breeze picked up the scent. "Blood."
"A lot of it," you whispered, not wanting to spook the wildlife and potential dinner away. "Maybe a feeding post? Or a kill site? Cougars run up here, don't they?"
Taabe nodded and held up a fist for you to hold your place, he brought up and primed his bow before cautiously steeping out of the thicket.
It wasn't too long before Taabe's head popped back in through the leaves, a stunned and pained expression in his eyes.
You opened your mouth to ask what was wrong, but he stopped you with a shake of his head. He didn't braid his long hair after his shower, let it flow and air dry after you got ready for this mini trek. The ends made a faint sweeping noise at the height of the branches.
"It's bad." He said as you stood up from your crouching position, you held on to the handle of your hatchet attached to your thigh, in its holster.
Taabe pushed some thicker branches out of the way, letting you through to see what he meant.
The noise that came out of your throat was full of disaster. The visceral scene before you screamed wrong. Wherever you looked, the soggy almost black ground, the waft of decay and death, the mangle of at least ten, once gorgeous Bison laid out over the clearing. Vile. Disgusting.
What would do this?
The wooly beasts were dispatched hotly, twisted hooves and innards spilled on to the grass. Heavy splashes of blood even farther stretched, as if they'd been in the fight of their lives. Which as you walked out and saw the full scale of this stumbled upon assault, the poor animals certainly were. Taabe pointed to the one the farthest away, just the fuzzy back and strange angled hind leg visible. With caution you took out your blade, just in case whatever had done this was still lurking about, decided to jump out and get you.
You gagged and turned away from the beast.
It's massive head was... completely missing.
Saliva pooled in your mouth at the sight. Bison weren't small creatures and this one, this headless one before you now, was an adult. The head of it would've been massive, considering the size of its deserted body.
"What... what could do something like this?" You asked, out loud and in general because what the actual hell?! The meat and hide were still attached, the fact that this wasn't for a desperation or food but possibly... for sport just made you fucking sick.
"I don't know, petal. And I don't want to find out." Taabe tucked you under his arm and looked around the massacre. "They were targeted, but for what I'm not sure. These are pretty fresh kills too, could be a sick or an infected animal. Big game like this though... whatever got to them could be pretty injured and just needed something to chow on. Rogue bear maybe..."
"You think a bear did this?"
"Something bigger than them did. Which predator in these woods, I'm not so sure, but there weren't any gun shots. We would've heard them. More like slashed and gutted."
You spat.
When you looked up after wiping your mouth, something in one of the taller trees shifted. You thought it was just the wind or a trick of the sun at this time of day.
You squinted for a better look.
Whatever it was shimmered, half a fraction of a fraction of a second. If you blinked you'd surely miss it. You opened your mouth but no sounds came out, just shock and awe and it was mostly likely that fact that made you see things. "Pickers are gonna' come soon, we better head out before we're next."
Three rabbits and some wild ramps later into the day found you walking back towards the cabin. With the evening sun dipping down, the cold started to set in. Little halos of steam around your hot heads from walking.
As Tabbe worked on his kills, chucking the innards into a separate bowl in the fridge to toss out before leaving, you couldn't shake the image. You had cheered for the caught meat, the grocery store packed chicken looked sadly at you from the bottom shelf. Nothing tasted sweeter than a fresh caught, day of meal though.
The grisly image haunted you through dinner, after your shower and as you slid into bed next to Taabe.
Something was out there, something big and unexplainable.

Strange Preferences - Pt XII
Prey Predator x fem!reader
Your decision is revealed
Amishta - name, meaning fearless, limitless
Tenahpu - Comanche/nʉmʉ tekwapʉ  word for man
Pabi - Comanche/nʉmʉ tekwapʉ  word for elder brother
Kiande Amedha - Yautja word for xenomorphs (hard meat)
***
Your aim was true.
The thing’s teeth shattered. It screamed, wounded. Tenahpu took the opportunity and slashed at its neck with his wrist blades. They sizzled as they sliced deeply. The beast stumbled backwards. Its head fell to the side, barely attached. Hot blood spurted everywhere. Tenahpu threw himself away from the blood spray.
Gurgling, the hard meat thudded to the ground. It began to smoke, its own blood burning it away. Tenahpu growled, wounded. He sat, collecting himself. You scrambled to grab his mask. It had landed near you. Going to him, you offered it. He took it, looking up at you. It seemed like he wanted to say something, but instead he raised his mask to his head.
Standing, he looked down at you. He was covered in green blood. His own blood? Clicking sounded. “Pabi!” You called out impulsively.
He appeared at the other end of the room. He gestured to the two of you to come. Tenahpu grabbed you and pulled you along quickly. Pabi was busy tapping at his arm brace. A red glowing thing floated out out of it. It floated strangely to the middle of the egg filled room. Stopping, it started to chirp. You were curious. “We go now. Run.” Pabi grabbed his younger brother and pushed him ahead. You were next.
You ran as fast as you could. It wasn’t fast enough. Pabi threw you over his shoulder. You bounced along violently. Flames and heat suddenly erupted from the corridor behind you. You felt you would melt the heat was so intense.
But the siblings outran it. Once the air had cooled to its constant state of overbearing humidity, they stopped. Pabi dropped you to the ground. He grunted at Tenahpu and the two spoke. After a moment they touched foreheads softly and Pabi was off. Tenahpu turned to you.
“We keep hunt.” He gestured to himself. “Must kill hard meat… only Tenahpu.”
You were shocked. You had cost him the hunt? He didn’t seem upset.
“You be very much brave. You… uhmgg… hurt hard meeeat.” You bit your lip, thinking of your split second decision. Taabe could’ve been avenged. Guilt filled your heart, nearly overwhelming you like the heat.  But the vision you’d had confused you. What had Taabe been trying to tell you? Tenahpu tilted his head, “Sssomething bad?”
You snapped out of it. Gritting your teeth, you nodded at him, “We go hunt now.” He grumbled happily, unaware. You fell in behind him as he stalked along.
The heat closed in on you again. Like your guilt, it was heavy on you. Tenahpu clicked at you softly in the darkness. Only your mask allowed you to see. He carried on, his muscular back smeared with his own blood. Weakened, he still had to take on the hard meat alone. Did you want him to succeed?
You walked into Tenahpu, who had stopped short. Peering around him, you understood why. A pack of four or five great beasts was ahead. They seemed absorbed in themselves, snapping and hissing at each other in a casual manner. Tenahpu remained motionless. Screeching sounded from deeper in the cave. Three of the things bounded off. The one left curled up, grumbling and wheezing to itself. Still Tenahpu stayed put.
It settled finally. Tenahpu’s head turned very slightly. “You stay,” he grumbled quietly. You crouched down, leaning into the wall. Tenahpu advanced.
Carefully, he readied another net. You held your breath. He pulled a long knife from his belt. He inched closer. Closer. Transfixed, you watched.
Finally making his move, he jumped just inside the small room. Simultaneously, he flung his net and jerked the long knife in a downward motion. It extended to a short spear. As the beast began to scream, its blood sizzling through the net, Tenahpu calmly took aim and threw the spear powerfully. It went wholly through the thing’s head and stuck into the wall. Tenahpu backed off as the net finished tightening, hot blood spurting everywhere as the net disintegrated.
The great beast went limp, hanging from the spear, its hot blood eating through it. Taking no chances, Tenahpu carefully extended his wrist blades. Going in low, he sliced into the thing’s neck. The body thudded to the ground. Kicking it, he waited a moment. Finally accepting his success, he roared. It echoed through the cave. You were vaguely annoyed. Had he just inadvertently summoned more?
Gleeful, he called to you, “Hard meat is killed. Come, come.”
Apprehensively, you sidled up to him and the beast. The body was still sizzling, burning itself up in its own blood. The smell was incredible. You took a step back.
Tenahpu turned to you, clicking and growling. You understood nothing. Suddenly, he reached inside the thing’s head and pulled out its tongue. It had… smaller teeth on the end. You blinked. What a creature. He stuffed the trophy into a small pack and nodded at you, “We go now.”
You heard screeching echoing from somewhere. Not a moment too soon.
