... Will you guys please let me talk about hgduo/gossipduo/mockingjays/ whatever they are called a little more pleaseeeeeeeeee, they make me unwell and I want to get my thoughts about them out of my head- or more specifically about them from Bad's point of view!

There's a familial air to it, but it's just not true to define it like that- and that doesn't make what they DO have any less powerful or significant- They have a unique bond and that continues to be true, even during painful times like this.

Cellbit WAS Bad's responsibility at one point, and that time came and went- he got him through the war and into adulthood ( aka 18 years old or close to it.) They meet again as old friends and generally respect each other as such... but even so Bad can't deny he still feels some duty to watch over the man once he starts crumbling- much like how Cellbit as well can't help but reach out to Bad during this time.

but there's limits.

like- Bad for years had and still wants to protect Cellbit, he's had an influence on him, he taught him how to survive, he himself acknowledges he has some responsibility over Cellbit, looking at Cellbit right now feels like looking in a mirror, he doesn't like having to give up on him, but if it's between him and the kids he's choosing the kids every time... and he knows there is no simple way to save someone who refuses to let themself be saved.

And it hurts! It hurts seeing Cellbit like this! It hurts having to let him burn! It hurts watching someone he cares for falling down the same path he is! It hurts knowing he's hurting others the way it did for him seeing Cellbit like this! It hurts having to choose his kids over his protege/ student/ former responsibility/ the kid he watched over years ago/ old friend/ his 'something'!

Like, cc!Bad brought up this internal mental tier list that q!Bad has- I still deeply believe that q!Cellbit is quite high up there even if he'll never be at the level his kids are at- like he loves Cellbit enough that he ACTUALLY CONSIDERED putting parts of his months long plan at risk to save him- even if it was just during the stress of that moment that still means a LOT from Bad- but he was always going to choose his kids in the end!

Based on what I know of q!Bad (which is admitably not a lot lol) there is next to nothing that'd convince him to give up on his kids- with Cellbit he's able to see that he can't help him because Cellbit sadly does not want to be saved- and for Bad that means he simply has to accept it even if he really doesn't like it- the emotions from that night have processed and he's looking at the situation from a more logical and resolute perspective. If it means him and Cellbit may one day clash, then with a heavy sigh so be it....

but if it was Dapper or Pomme... I just don't feel certain in saying he'd be able to come to that conclusion, especially not after one night. Even if it would be the 'smart' thing to do. It's one of the key differences between the dynamic he has with them vs Cellbit...

But, in a perfect situation, he would've done everything to save them both.

Hey so I've been wondering about inclusivsm vs exclusivism in Christianity and the Bible. I've had more of a inclusivst view before, but I find that there's also a large amount of exclusivism in the Bible. So, I was wondering what you think about it overall? Is it both? Neither? Nothing? One? Anyway, may the Lord be with you always 💛💐

Hi there! I am 100% against exclusivism, and lean towards religious pluralism. For me that means I don't believe that only Christians go to heaven, that Christianity is the only "right" belief system / that Jesus is the only path to the Divine, or that Christians are God's Extra Special Favorites.

When we pray Thy will be done, we look forward to God's will succeeding — and what God wills is abundant life for everyone! Not just for the Right Kind of Christians; not just for all Christians in general; not even just for all human beings; but for all Creation.

There are numberless ways to worship the Divine, to express faith, to glorify our Creator. Wherever there is life, there is Spirit. Wherever there are beings seeking to bring life, Divinity is glorified.

The diversity of faiths is a holy gift that we too often twist into a flaw to be corrected. God shaped humans to need one another — alone, our perspectives and gifts are limited; only together can we hope to come close to understanding the Divine. We have so much to learn from one another — if only let go of our smugness, our sense of superiority, our need to be the ones with All The Answers. If only we let go of the fear we've been taught — fear that we'll go to hell if we're wrong; fear that others will go to hell if they're wrong.

Anyway, my story is Blood, Blindfolds and Butterflies, and... the story's in the name.

Luke is a vampire but Din is less of a hunter and more of a person who exists within his vicinity.

Unlike your au, mine is still gffa whilst (I think!!) Yours sounds more modern-bound. The idea is that Darth Plaguise created way more children than in canon — in the harnessing-midichlorians way anyway — and those children were changed to be more powerful, to be able to use the Force, to have sharper senses etc for an army. The children had weak skin, and would were covered head to toe armour and veils while they trained, but they also were cursed with an insatiable craving for blood and/or red meat.

(These vampires are also not limited to human species!! If a species doesn't have pointed ears, sharp teeth and great senses, you add them AND you give them spikes/slit pupils/sickness from the sun.)

Eventually, these children became sick of being twisted by this Sith and they rebelled against him, defeating him and his apprentice (who later killed him in his sleep) and filling the galaxy with vampires who — after a few generations of mixing with other non-vampire species — grew out of that "insatiability" and it became more of a slight want rather than a need. Fruit and milk could replace that craving, too! And that's how Anakin grew up with Shmi, and Shmi taught Beru before she died.

That was YEARS ago, and the BBB plot is... massively developed and complicated (if I do say so myself X3 ) but if you were thinking of reading it, I'm sure @airlocksandaviaries could convince you hehe (ily Mads mwah)

The train roared by loudly as you played on your switched, Monster Tracker Higher was an awesome game. Easily getting under the beasts feet and attacking away with your character. And your partner enjoyed the colorful lights on the screen, defatting the monster and completing another mission. Another step to getting the quest for the ultimate armor in game.  You looked down and pulled out a small piece of poke food, and held up up to where your breast pocket was. Something tiny and yellow sniffed it’s way out, and took the food to nibble on it. Looking up to see your train would be here in the next 30 minuets. 

“We’ll be home by nightfall.” You promised to your little friend. you got a click back in response, no doubt he’d be happy to be home. Social anxiety was common for your buddy here, and the limits were pushed by some unexpected problems when you got caught up in a mess in the city.  A small smile, holding out your hand, “Wanna come out?” you asked, “I promise you can hide the moment you don’t feel safe.” you promised, there was some movement in the pocket, as slowly your partner crawled out. Hopping onto your hand, but staying near the jacket’s sleeve to hide if need be. 

You smiled at the tiny Joltik, proud he was getting better, used to be afraid to even peak his head out. Now he was comfortable to let you pet down his body, and bury himself into the warmth of your palm. Tiny chitter and squeaks of happiness as your petted his back. 

Though the bubble of calmness was popped when loud yelling was heard. Which was enough to make your Joltik rush back up your sleeve and to his pocket to hide. You scowled a bit to the source of the sound, some jerk boosting for all to hear how strong his pokemon was. A Salamence by the look of it, and a very mean looking one. 

People really loved to make a spectacle of themselves huh? Your teacher taught you that much about people around here, she swore the fumes of the city’s grates just messed some people’s minds. 

“Small dick energy.” you sighed shaking your head, going to head back to your game and ignore the man.

Though it seems he heard you as angry eyes turned to you, “What did you say skank?” he asked getting in front of your face, ug, his breath was horrid.  You made a face, “You heard me, now kindly get out of my personal space.” you leaned back from his face and met the unkind blue eyes. 

Leaning up he wrinkled his nose at you, “Little bitches like you should learn to close your mouth of things you don’t get a say in.” he told you. You gave an unimpressed look, “And you really think anyone would fall for you.” you commented back, which only served to piss him off more. 

His face was red and angry, fury on his face was kind of amusing from your angle as veins throbbed on his neck and forehead. “You want to fight then? Mine would crush yours!” he near roared, people were now watching. Some were backing up to form a circle now to get out of any blast zones.

“I hardly think in a place like this is appropriate.” You said, as you did notice one of the Depot Agents rushing off, then looked back at the guy. “But suppose we’ll both get in trouble either way.” you said standing up with your bag on your shoulder. 

He smirked at that as his Salamence roared at that, thrashing it’s tail. Looking so sure and confident in himself, you wanted this fight to be quick without causing any damages. “What say you little buddy? Want to teach a jerk some lessons?” you asked to your pocket.  There was rustling as Joltik popped out and hopped up to your arm and down onto the ground. His fur was raised on end  as he glared at the Salamence. The man laughed at that, “That puny pokemon!?” he asked with a amused look on his face, “That’s really your choice?” 

You just shrugged at that, people were watching now as you knew your pokemon was much much faster than his. So why not make the large thing wear itself out? “Ti, agility!” you said as Joltik moved swiftly under the large thing. 

“Stomp that bug!” he growled, as the Salamence tried to move, the larger was much slower than your Ti. He moved too fast to keep up, easily now crawling up the other’s leg. 

“Bug bite!’ you said, as Ti obeyed and bit down onto the skin. Which really pissed off the pokemon as it was trying to shake off the tik, but couldn’t reach back to grab as Joltik moved too fast. Bitting all over the exposed skin and leaving welts as it went. 

The guy seemed to be in shock as he growled, “Burn it! Flamethrower!” he said, well that was just a bad idea. The Salamence was now tossing flames around to get Ti off it’s back. Which scared many to try and hunker down as flames sailed over head. You gritted your teeth dodging out of the way of some flames, “Ti! Discharge!” you called out loudly over the screaming.

Ti bit down hard on the neck of the thrashing pokemon, and suddenly a light show of electricity was seen. Covering the dragon pokemon and causing lights to flicker and some bulbs to shatter in them. 

Some covered their eyes at the show, as the fire died out. And slowly, the yellow light faded, and on the ground was the Salamence completely KOed. Ti jumped off it’s back and hopped it’s merry way over to you. You caught him with your hand as he laid down a little tired. Well he did just release all the stored up electricity from the past month in him. Ti really liked to feed on the volts of your other pokemon when they were sick. Jolteon being his favorite.

The guy looked completely horrified by his ‘strong’ pokemon laying out cold on the ground. By a little tik no less! Then the rage was back, “That’s impossible!” he roared at you, “That bug is barely bigger than my hand!” 

You shrugged at that as Ti crawled into your pocket again, “Guess bigger they are the harder they fall.” you deadpanned, the guy growled pulling out another pokemon ball. You narrowed your eyes, this was bad.

“THAT’S ENOUGH!” a loud voice yelled out as people turned and quickly parted out of the way of the two coming their way over. An officer with them, they both didn’t look happy as they glared at the guy.  You knew them, Ingo and Emmet, owners of the place, you head your head down at that. “Pokemon battles are to be on the carts.” Ingo said firmly to the both of you, “And causing destruction of property isn’t look good.” he didn’t look at you but rather the one who caused the problem. 

This was how you ended up outside with some other, some people had gotten burns from the guys dragon, you were alright though. Sitting with a Blissy as your burns were treated on your arm, apparently your jacket stopped most of it, but some blistering was seen.  Officer Jenny was taking statements, and your had saw the guy you fought being taken in a police car. Ti was currently petting you pet him as you sat waiting to give yours. 

“I can’t even leave you for a second on your own, can I?” an amused and slightly annoyed voice said as you looked up to your teacher coming over. Elesa. You worked for the gym, and she was training you in Electric type pokemon. Job mostly entails battling trainers who game in to face her.  You looked sheepish at that as she looked at your arms and shook her head, “Uncoth man that was, Ingo told me everything.” she told you, “How’s Ti doing?”

Ti chittered at that nibbling on your finger playfully, though he had yet to let Elesa hold him, he didn’t hide from her. “Alright.” You said then looked a little embarrassed as the two Subway bosses came over. You had noted Emmet watching you the entire time, trying to focus on Ti to keep your attention off him.

You had your head down glumly at that and sighed, “I’m sorry for causing damage sirs.” You muttered to them, feeling really bad. You could have walked away or something. A hand ruffled your hair though at that. “Don’t worry about it, some broken bulbs are easy to replace, compared to the other, the damage you done was near nothing.” Ingo told you with a smile on his face to match his brothers. “We have been watching on the cameras and come quickly when the fighting started, you handled yourself well... but Elesa here tells us you have always been her top worker.”

You flushed at that, you only recently got a job at the gym, but rose through the ranks quickly. Stationed now in the final part before they reached Elesa. Ti chittered at that as you smiled at him and petted him again carefully, getting a purr at that.  “Awe! He’s so cute!” Emmet said as Ti looked to the guy and shrank back into your jacket again. Emmet looked confused at this his smile falling a bit.

You shook your head, “Don’t take it personally, Ti has Social Anxiety, he’s a great partner, but doesn’t like people.” you told him as Ti climbed onto your hand and into your jacket pocket. 

The smile then returned at that, “I am Emmet! Don’t see many trainers battle with Joltiks” He commented, which was true, most chose larger pokemon. You shrugged, but you did so who cared why? “You’re verrrry gentle to him!” he said with a smile that was soft and sweet.  Elesa nudged Ingo with a giggle as he shook his head fondly too. you looked confused for a moment then looked back at Emmet, “Yeah, he’s my partner and my friend since I was 10.” You told him. 

This made Emmet launch into how he watched you fight using how tiny Ti was to your advantage and his speed. You smiled as he happily told you facts he knew about Joltiks, and how he raises them also. And telling him the story of how you met Ti and he became your partner pokemon.

Before long his brother had left to go check on other people, and things seemed to be calming down. Emmet chattering away now about any pokemon fact he could, and even about his own team. And in return you told him about your Jolteon at home and Dedenne you had. “They are rascals, liking to chew on Jolt’s pins, much to her dismay.” you told Emmet with a laugh.

“They can’t produce it on their own, and have to find it, but you seem to be doing verrrry well though.” Emmet commented. You nodded, you loved your pokemon dearly, but suddenly your watch went off and you blinked. “Oh... crap, I have to get home, Jolt will be upset I missed feeding time.” You told him standing up, flustered, luckily Ingo promised you a way home as the train would make a stop for everyone who missed. So you didn’t have to pay for another ticket.

Emmet looked at that and took your hand, “Can I have your number?” he asked very forward as you stared at him. “So we can talk again later? Maybe even meet up?” he looked flustered now, his cheeks a soft pink.  You smiled at that and took your your phone, “Smile.” you said as you took his picture, finding the cute pink on his face was funny handing him your phone for his number.

Quickly he did the same for you, catching you looking at him when Ti poked out his head as you put in your number. Getting back your phone you smiled brighter, “I’ll text you this weekend, when I’m off.” you promised to him.

“I am Emmet, and I look forward to that.’ Emmet said in an excited tone too near bouncing on his feet. As you waved to him and ran off to get home in time before Jolt decided to make it your problem.

Emmet looked at your picture and felt giddy inside, he couldn’t wait to send you pictures of all his Joltiks! Maybe he could even invite you over! . . . Ingo was going to tease him to no end about this.

💜 ROYAL-THEMED OC ASK GAME: 💜

I'll be answering for "Guacamaya," the OC for GORGONA. A full character profile for this ferocious babe is forthcoming, so keep your eyes on the dash! If you'd like me to tag you, please interact with this post.

MONARCH - What could “corrupt” your OC? As in, what methods, such as bribery, blackmail, or even threats, could cause your OC to deviate from their moral compass? How easy/hard is it for your character to give in to such corruption?

This is such a juicy question. I had to sit down and think about this one for a while. I guess, in a way, Guacamaya is corrupt from the start? She accepts her role as heir because to refuse the power she is being offered means endangering her life and the life of all those she loves. But isn't that the definition of folding to a threat? Moreover, accepting her role as heir means lending her abilities to a system (monarchy) she doesn't believe in and aiding a tyrant (her grandfather). I don't really know if that makes her a great person lol That's not to say she doesn't have a moral compass. She won't commit murder or aid in mass slaughter or anything like that. There are limits to what she'll do, even if it means relinquishing her life. She's just playing for the wrong team (and has no real choice in the matter).

CORONATION - How does your OC feel about responsibility? How do they handle (or avoid) it?

Guacamaya loves to say she hates it (especially at the start of the novel), but it's plain to see she loves it. She doesn't avoid it at all.

ELEGANCE - How do they feel about being posh or fancy? Do they find it dumb and boring, or do they genuinely feel as though it is the proper way to go about the world?

Guacamaya is conflicted about her social status. She's absorbed some of the classist rhetoric around her birth family, but she's aware of it, so it's not that she buys into it exactly (although, at times, when she's high on power, she does lean into the idea that maybe there's something "special" about them). Her impoverished life in exile has taught her that "poshness" is often used as a tool of oppression against the common people, with whom she feels a certain affinity, so in a way, she disdains it. It's never very black and white since she's neither completely posh/fancy (having grown up in exile) nor completely "common" (given that she did spend some of her formative years among the aristocracy and spends most of the novel playing an inherited role). What's clear is that she doesn't agree with the abuses her grandfather, the tyrannical King, has levelled on the country and would fully support a revolution that supplanted the monarchical system of power if it didn't require her assassination.

前書き I wanted to write this at the end of DECEMBER, but things kept happening and ugh. I'm not taking constructive criticism at this time.

Anyway, each month I want to document all helpful and not-so-helpful things I do while studying Japanese and my progress (though I don't track it very precisely).

So, these are the things that I found in December that improved my vocabulary acquisition A LOT.

I + 2 / + 2.5 method for sentences I add to Anki. My usual card structure is a word and an example sentence at the front and translation with furigana (see below) at the back. For example sentences, I usually choose the ones that have two or three words that I don't know, but need to learn. That is not as difficult as it sounds, especially if you add these unknown words to you Anki afterwards.

Adding furigana to the back of my Anki cards. This is huge timesaver for me because it helps to grill me on several words simultaneously. To generate furigana, I use this plugin https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/3918629684, which is fairly difficult to configure. These is also this one https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1344485230, but I have not tried it.

Onyomi cramming. Though multiple reading are a pain, there are usually one or two popular on readings that appear in most words. So started making cards for words with the same onyomi reading, and it really helps with retention (at least with retention of individual kanji, lol). I'll make a separate post about it in the feature.

Copied Anki Learn ahead limit, Learning Steps and Relearning steps settings from here https://animecards.site/ankisetup/. The default settings showed too few repetitions for me, and now it is much better. I did not use anything else from this manual though.

Not changing the study plan. To put it simply, I stopped looking for new learning resources and stuck to Anki+reading immersion. I rarely listen or write so it is obviously not ideal, but I study better then when I was jumping from one app to another.

I started doing the No Zero Days Challenge and I kind of still doing it (I study every day), but don't post reports anymore. Regardless, I think this challenge is one of the reasons I study more consistently now! Big thanks to @mainichi-nihongoal who created this challenge!

Writing on PC instead of paper. It's so much easier and and I can practice grammar quicker. Of course lack of writing practice it will bit me in the ass one day, but I think this is a sensible strategic decision considering my goals!*

I guess my only serious disappointment this month was this Anki add-onhttps://ankiweb.net/shared/info/16703369 , which I thought will show the statistics of my tag usage (e.g. how many cards are tagged with n4, n3, common, and so on), but is actually used for a completely different purpose, lol. I don't think there is an add-on that actually does what I want, but this is definitely not a big deal.

I was thinking more about this post, and the thing I mentioned in the tags about this bit:

Those things are all completely valid. If you take your guitar out to the park on the weekends and play Simon and Garfunkel with your friends, people aren’t like, “Why aren’t you at Julliard?! Why aren’t you getting paid?” Because that’s so clearly not the point of it. The point is to enjoy making art. And all of us as human beings like to make things.

I didn't want to detract from the post! I totally follow the point! But I have had dozens of people come up to me when I'm jamming with my friends or singing karaoke or something and demand to know why I'm not at Juilliard or getting paid or, my favorite, why I haven't auditioned for American Idol. For some reason, many people just seem to have a bug up their butts about refusing to believe anyone would ever not want to make a career out of a skill or passion.

You know why I haven't auditioned for American Idol? William Hung.

I was watching YouTube essays the other day, and I forget which one played this clip, but I had never actually heard his audition. I kept waiting for the moment when he would sound as terrible as reported, and it just...never happened.

Which proved to me what I already knew: it has absolutely nothing to do with your actual ability. William Hung's only sin here, as far as my ears can tell, is that he's not warmed up and he's pushing the upper limits of his range past where he's comfortable. It's obvious to me that he has no training, but it's also obvious to me that he sings and listens to music all the time. For someone who's self-taught, straining, clearly set up from the beginning to be comic relief and singing a capella, he's actually doing an incredible job!

Do you know how fucking hard it is to not travel (change key halfway through the song without realizing it) when singing a capella? ESPECIALLY without formal training? VERY. IT'S VERY, VERY HARD.

What this man needs is a voice teacher who can help him find good, strong baritone songs that play to his voice's natural strengths. I've worked with teenagers who sounded EXACTLY like this, took voice lessons for six months and started getting standing ovations. He has the talent and the capacity to be a phenomenal singer. His sense of pitch is excellent, if you actually pay attention and listen to him.

And of course we know why this is, in this particular case: they wanted to mock the Asian man who has the filthy nerve to be enthusiastic about his hobbies and speak with a slight accent, lol cringe. This is part of the greater pattern of exploitative, offensive bullshit that rotted out any integrity the concept could have had before it even got off the ground!

I am very glad that he got a record deal because fans recognized how awesome he is, even if the show itself should be ashamed of how they mocked him.

Hey, im just beginning my journey , and im not sure where to begin lol, as ironic as it sounds. im doing this for many personal reasons and i believe this is the path for me. So the question, any tips on how to begin? Can you help point me in the right direction? thank you for your time <3

oh boy.  well, as you can imagine, there’s no one right answer. There are very few wrong ways to start. There’s no universal practice of witchcraft. Some of what I list below will speak to you, and some of it won’t--go with what feels right. Don’t just ask me--I’m pretty green around the gills myself. Every witch will give you a different answer. It helps that this question has been asked and answered many times. It’s a pretty common question, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find on witchblr either through popular witch blogs or in the tags.

It kinda depends on why you started. For example, if you started because you wanted to understand yourself better, then I would recommend you start with astrology--begin with understanding your sun, moon, and rising signs and work your way up to reading your birth chart. If you started because you want “answers” to the general mysteries of what’s going on and why, I’d recommend you start with tarot and divination. So on, and so forth. 

Here are some general starters for you

Consider this to be an appetizer menu:

Terminology and Basic Tools of Witchcraft (including types of witchcraft and mythology)

Energy work

Shadow work

Sigils

Astrology

Divination (I’d recommend starting with Tarot and pendulum readings)

This should be more than enough to get you started. I ordered it from what I consider to be Most Important Basics to gradually more complex. Once you’ve got a firm grasp on protection magic, you can move on to other types and spells jars. 

Important:

I have really great resources on each subject, but linking all of them is a Ton of work. Reblog with a couple of specific subjects--ones that either really speak to you or youre having a lot of trouble with--and I’ll reblog with the specific resources for those specific subjects. Sorry, I’m lazy.

So, here’s the thing about magic. Think about it like being an artist--whether it it’s a painter, a writer, a dancer, a singer--it doesn’t matter. You can be Technically perfect. Understand Everything. BUT, if you don’t have this certain kind of, soul, this certain kind of pizzaz, it Lacks something. Same goes for magic. You can have all the perfect ingredients, but it’s not enough. You need something we call “Intent.” And it sounds simple enough, to have meaning behind what you say and do. But it’s tricky to master. And it’s just not something that can be taught.

a FUNNEL will be your Most Important Tool.

Spellwork is MESSY. Do it on top of a Fireproof tray to avoid ruining your tables. Have water nearby. Have all your ingredients out before you start.

Emoji spells; some witches use em, some don’t. It really doesn’t matter. But stay away from the douchebags who write extremely long posts as to how emoji spells aren’t “real” magic--they just like to feel superior, and they aren’t.

if you’re not Native American, you cannot smudge. Period. Full Stop. you’re just smoke cleansing, and that’s okay.

Here is the general consensus on the use of sage

Anyone can be a witch. 

Witchcraft is not a religion. Wicca is a religion. Stay away from people who are like “magic comes from the vagina” -- trust me, they’re out there. 

keep all personal information to yourself. 

no one here knows my real name, nor what I look like. At best they can guess my gender, my ethnicity, my country, and my age range. I don’t even post my sun, moon, or rising signs, let alone my birth chart. Why? Because it makes it easy for other witches to curse you. Now you might be thinking, well I don’t intend to cause trouble or stir up drama, I don’t need to worry about that! Two different witches *tried* to curse me because I called out their racism. No one is immune from being able to curse, and no one is immune from being cursed. 

Appropriation. Be cognizant of it. 

I highly recommend you look into traditional forms of magic from *your* culture. Don’t assume that magic from other cultures is automatically open to you. Before you buy witchcraft books, research and make sure the author is not guilty of writing about cultural practices that do not belong to them. It’s a big problem
