Obviously, the reoccurring lyrical theme of coming back from the dead/wasn't satisfied with how things went in the first life fit him quite well, but there are some other specific lines I'd like to focus in on!

Shakin' my legs infused with new sensation/The mortals retching at my restoration/What am I doing wrong?/(Perhaps it's the putrescence): these lyrics match very well with his interactions with the general family after coming back, both pre and post identity reveal imho. He's not the same as he was, no matter how some seemingly wish for him to be,,,, the line "Hanging euphoria by a thread/Just out of reach as it ever was when I'm dead" also fits in this perception a bit

animate interviewed the bbbat seiyuu in separate interviews lol, but had some overlap so i’m including both here and the parts that had me foaming in the mouth

there are scenes where the characters sick their speakers on characters and those speakers clash with other speakers and the characters even get on top of speakers LFGGGG

hayama-san vaguing about ichiro and kuukou’s scenes in the movie and sakakihara-san backing it up like ‘yeah it’s some good stuff’ LOL

in regards to that tho, the bb seiyuu could just feel how ichiro and kuukou were in their own world at the start of the battle. i thought it was really interesting to hear amasaki-san view ichiro as someone who will push saburo forth, encourage him to go all out, and will be a home that he can return to with unconditional love and support, and then described ichiro unleashing a lot of emotions towards kuukou and kuukou encouraging ichiro to let it all out bc he will take that all in unconditionally

there’s an intense ramujaku scene apparently and the hitoya that lives in takeuchi-san felt kinda jealous of it lmao like no there wasn’t any shot of hitoya witnessing this scene, but takeuchi as hitoya felt some type of way since hitoya’s supposed to be jakurai’s childhood and best friend LOL

why did they retcon Aemond being Alicent's favourite? it was Aemond that she was closest to in season one not Helaena

I couldn’t tell you. I was going to make a post analysing their relationship a few weeks back because it was a very interesting dynamic before they decided to act like they never even had the bond that was shown in season one.

I’m not sure if she favoured Aemond over Helaena but Aemond was definitely the child she seemed closest to. I think she was more maternal towards helaena, Alicent saw helaena as her innocent, sensitive child and she was always trying to connect with her, taking an interest in her interests but they struggled to connect specifically because helaena was touch avergent and recoiled from attempts at physical affection. As for her relationship with Aemond it was probably the strongest but Aemond was also pretty adultifed because Alicent used to lean on him for emotional support and Aemond tried to be the perfect dutiful son that Aegon wasn’t. I think the fact that viserys left her to raise the kids alone, shows no concern for them and her fears for her family and Ottos absence made her push her sons into that role, aegon finds it too much pressure and just wants to be a teenager but Aemond steps up. Alicent had her own complicated bond with Otto that could definitely explain how she parents her sons.

The driftmark scene where she is ready to kill and die for him and he’s trying to comfort her, reassure and protect her from viserys’ anger was heartbreaking. I hate that they just had them not speaking at the start of season one, a week earlier he was still shown to be the dutiful favoured son and I get that lucerys’ death and the start of the war affected that relationship but we never saw the initial reaction. She’s giving him the silent treatment, he resents her for being weak etc the breakdown of their relationship would have made sense if they dedicated time for it. Parentified kids resent their parents, Parents can resent what their kids become, the relationship is complex but it was not explored. Everything was reduced to “Alicent is a terrible mother who hates her sons and Aemond is school shooter type who will set his brother on fire and essentially tell his mother to get back to the kitchen” the breakdown of Alicent and Aemonds relationship ultimately comes down to the assassination of both of their characters and the fact that the show does not want the targtowers to have a complex but loving relationship

I love how we're getting some of the insanest lore a smash or pass blog can have. The Megatron roleplaying. The Scourge war (and the pornstar moustache war following). The Vehicular Orgy. In all fairness, some of this is just existing staples of the tf fandom at large. And the mpreg is just baked into the canon.

That said the idea that we've gone far enough to warrant an iceberg when this blog has only existed for like a few months makes me slightly scared of how weird we're gonna get after like. A few years. When we've finally run out of transformers characters. When every robot, organic, and fuckable object has been given a verdict. When every horny war has been waged, every plague of lust spread. The carnage. The Chaos. All documented in an encyclopedia of how fuckable each and every entity is, stored within Megatron's personal archives aboard the nemesis so he may study how odd the preferences of the flesh creatures are.

I have a confession to make…

The best fanfic I’ve ever written—and the only multi-chapter, comprehensive one too—is a Brian May fanfic that I’ve been writing on Wattpad (yikes, but you gotta understand that Wattpad used to be all the rage) for the past nearly half a decade. To be entirely fair though, I went on hiatus for a long while (since 2018 I think!!) and only got back to writing it last summer.

i enjoy watching or reading bad stuff, because picking it apart and analysing Why exactly it's bad is fascinating to me. i've watched emily in paris So many times because as a born and raised parisian, i've got input and knowledge of the city and of parisian culture that is pretty relevant. i watched my pride out of curiosity, and ended up appalled at the representation that show made of physically disabled people. as a physically disabled dyke, i expected to relate to the main character, and feel empowered by her, but i just watched her suffer over and over just because...? i watched hazbin hotel because i wanted to see for myself if the criticisms i had seen floating around applied – and believe me, they do. i love demons and monsters, but hazbin hotel has writing flaws that are just impossible to ignore. i'm currently watching helluva boss with friends for the same reason, and so far it's just as bad as, if not worse than, hazbin hotel. a character you're supposed to really like, root for, and is the love interest to the protagonist first appears and within a few moments, is sexually harrassing him. yay!

but what's sad to me is when the mediocre thing i'm watching or reading...is unexpectedly mediocre. i recently read a book that i'd been really excited about, because i had been following its production for years. the premise of the story was interesting, the worldbuilding fascinated me as someone who Loves some good worldbuilding, and the creators seemed Very invested in the creation and development of their characters. but the end product...was very disappointing. the writing style isn't very appealing, the povs seem to change every paragraph in an extremely confusing way, a Lot is told instead of shown, and the relationships between the characters that i was excited to see felt...hollow. and let's not forget the casually ableist names that two of the characters have, one of which was explicitly meant as a punishment and not changed the second that character's relative became leader, for some reason, while the other just..."owns it now", i guess. so incredibly disappointing.

i don't want to name the book since this isn't meant to be a review or anything, i'm just thinking out loud and airing my frustrations. i've toyed with the idea of making a detailed review of it, but im disabled with a fulltime job lol. if anybody recognises the book and wants to chat about it in dms, i'd be more than happy to do just that

this is so random but i would love to hear your opinion on mydramalist as a fellow asian drama lover. because it’s obviously well known as a reliable wiki of sorts in dramaland but i beg to differ. (the only plus i feel being the summary and cast list for info)

i mean, i’ve not seen a single comsec w more than two brain cells as a whole? there’s always complaints about female leads rooted from misogyny, they are never happy about story progression, and i just find so many of them kinda dumb sorry lol. like zero media literacy to be found, insufferable arguments, etc. the star ratings are rly just given to popular dramas w high profile actors too.

and i personally find it disheartening that so many ppl end up referring to mdl when considering dramas because so many gems are then lost and not given appreciation.

anon. anon anon anon if you know the way i sat straight the f*ck up when i saw the notification and then read through this ask bc yes. yes to everything here that is exactly it. almost three fourths of what i've watched this year was either 1. not received well by the general MDL crowd (Moon in the Day. where is the taste brethren to not like MITD and not even for reasons that actually make sense), 2. received well but had a good chunk of people bitching in the comment section, or 3. received well but had the main point of the show (and its relevant characterization) go over their heads. (The Worst of Evil aka TWOE comment section, i am f*cking looking at you. i can count on one hand the number of people who understood what that show was supposed to be about) the one fourth that managed to escape was bc the toxicity did not reach the comment section and everyone was pretty f*cking civil. alas if only it could be like that all of the time

case in point for the ratings example, since we've already briefly tackled the lack of media literacy—j-dramas on MDL are notoriously rated much, much lower than either k- or c-dramas. half of the time that's bc there are less users watching (and rating) them therefore the average is lower but the other half it's bc people simply do not understand good media when they see it. don't get me wrong there's some freaky ass sh*t in the j-drama world that i would not touch with a Grinch level pole but to see MDLers out here talking about how slow j-dramas are and that nothing's happening. have you considered that you are either watching the wrong genre or you shouldn't be watching j-dramas in the first place bc their entire setup and general narrative framing arcs are not your style. have you even thought about that for six seconds or are you too busy expecting it to read like a typical tropey rom-com k-drama with your trending oppas. (no hate on my tropey rom-coms with [most of] said oppas, i need them when i don't want to think i just want to see sh*t on my screen and scream about hot people and the Hand Umbrellas in the Rain and the Back Hold when the male lead catches the female lead before she falls and you have the fifteen second focus on their faces just looking at each other)

and the misogyny. oh God do not get me started on the dichotomy that was the Cult, as we affectionatly called ourselves, on the feeds while THEE sageuk of the year My Dearest was airing (beloved show [that i still need to finish. JangChae i'm sorry ily life hates me like the mf it is 😭], beloved commentary on the feeds. they saw the vision on the feeds) vs the sh*tshow that was the landmine field of the comment section (the takes i saw on Gil Chae, Eun Ae AND Ryang Eum respectively.......... the misogyny wasn't enough we had to add the homophobia into the mix. buy one get one free deal fr fr). you mad man. that sh*t was insane there was a point i banned myself from scrolling farther than the cast section until the show finished airing. i kid you not on average they didn't have even half a braincell. maybe a quarter of a quarter of one. f*cked up just say you are not decent people and go

this is not to say that all of MDL is like this. i have gotten tuned into absolute masterpieces of content (and have tuned others, amen) bc of a comment comparing a show i'm watching to another one or a review being posted in the feeds about a film with less than 500 people interested. i have reconsidered my choice to not watch something after having spirited discussions in private messages discussing the pros and cons of the premise and whether they managed to get it done without f*cking sh*t up. i still contribute semi-regularly by adding relatively unknown actors and crew members to the database so they can get the credit due them. if you know where to look, you can get some good sh*t out of that place. problem is most users who are new to both the site and East/Southeast Asian cinema as a whole don't know where to look, and the cycle continues, and the ratings continue to be skewed/bloated and no one pays attention to the plot, if there even is any to pay attention to.

tl;dr: begging people to not let MDL be the be all end all for their drama recs a la 'well MDL doesn't like it so i won't watch it'. babe we have said MDLers complaining about how the ratings on Viki are too high but in my entire time watching dramas i've found that in the past two to three years the Viki ratings are making more sense than the MDL ones. sit with that for a sec. when you're done branch out and see the world (literally and cinematically), i promise you will be a better person for it

so the bros are on summer vacay let’s goooooo lol!!!!!!!! school’s out for jiro and saburo and ichiro’s elected to take a week off so they can take a trip!!!! ofc jiro and saburo can’t agree where they should go lol jiro wants to go to mountains and saburo wants to do an escape room but ichiro finds a nice middle ground by suggesting they do both; they’ll camp in the mountains and then hit up an escape room on the way back home 🤗

on bat minus kuukou’s end, the three of them had intended to go camping together but kuukou got held up by shakku lmao. while out fishing for their meal, jyushi was jumpscared by ramuda!!! turns out ramuda was in the area for inspiration for a fashion collection!!! hitoya’s not the happiest about the straggler but he lets it slide lol

we see the bros work together to whip up a fire curry, and afterwards they head out to see a nearby lake!!! thing is tho, something about the lake is kinda giving ichiro and saburo bad vibes 😕 jiro happens to see a shrine for what the bros assume is in reverence for a minor god, despite the creepy look its got going for it. someone suddenly shouts at them from across the way and!!!

it’s ramuda with jyushi and hitoya in tow!!!! crazy coincidence lol

the six of them spend time bonding at the lake; jiro saburo jyushi and ramuda were in the water, splashing each other (saburo was grouchy about it tho, saying this was childish and jyushi caught strays tbh lol), while hitoya and ichiro talked camping out on the shore. their fun was interrupted by the locals demanding them to stop disturbing the sacred land. ichiro apologised on their behalf but as the villagers left, hitoya overheard them muttering something about being fine for sacrifice???? but all that playing around makes people hungry so ramuda proposes they all eat together!!!! so the bros, jyushi and hitoya cook up bbq and pizza!!!! ramuda was mostly there to look cute lmao (ichiro chewed him out lol, saying he needs to do his part) bellies full, their day ends playing some games saburo brought over and fireworks jiro probably brought 😌

the new day dawns and we start with bb’s camp, ichiro’s got some morning tea ready. jiro wakes up and questions where saburo went, to which ichiro responds he was already gone by the time ichiro got up so he assumed saburo’s on a walk somewhere. a little weird for saburo but that’s cool except ramuda and hitoya suddenly run up to their camp asking if they’ve seen jyushi since he wasn’t at their camp when they woke up and he wasn’t answering his phone

that’s when they know something’s wrong

the four of them scour the forest and eventually hit up the village and the place looks as creepy as the that shrine does. hitoya ran up to a local, phone pic in hand and asked if they’d seen saburo and jyushi. the villager replied he hadn’t and warns them to steer clear of the village since it’s an important day for them (hitoya: …??), but jiro calls the fcker out bc the guy’s wearing the wristband saburo was wearing. jiro demands to know where they got it from, and the villager says they bought it. y’know like a liar, bc that was a special edition wristband saburo won in a game tournament. the villager escapes but that lie tips ichiro and jiro off that they need to search the village

we cut to a run down house where jyushi is frantically trying to wake saburo up. he’s slow to awake but when he does, despite initial confusion over where tf they are, he keeps a level head assessing the situation. which is good, jyushi’s panicking bc they’ve been kidnapped lol. saburo suggests the others will be searching for them so the best they can do is use a spare firework he had in the fire place as a smoke signal. tragically, they were found out by the villagers, and ichiro, jiro, hitoya and ramuda were too late. jyushi tho, left behind one of his rings to let hitoya know that they had been here. hitoya finally puts two and two together and deduces the villagers intend to use saburo and jyushi as sacrifices. they remember that creepy asf shrine and in a panic jiro starts off for the shrine, the others not far behind

they arrive just as saburo and jyushi learn they’re to be human sacrifices and the villagers explain that every year they bring a sacrifice for jyajyakou-sama (the name consists of primarily the kanji for snake) in order to stave off disaster. it’s a honour they say. but obviously we not letting saburo and jyushi be sacrifices so ichiro jiro hitoya and ramuda break out the mics and rap them into submission. with the villagers down, they’re able to free saburo and jyushi from their constraints but it turns out the villagers were still able to move. they begin to call out to their god, chanting about the cost for life and no matter how many bars the six of them throw, the villagers get back up as if they’re undead. finally, the six decide to run away

a little while later, back at yorozuya yamada, we hear from ichiro that hitoya sent the cops after that village. turns out tho.

there was never any village. no people, no records of it, nothing.

hitoya called bullshit so he went with the cops out to that village himself and there really was nothing there

and the bros are stunned to silence

Brooooo I'm having so much fun doing fic research why did I ever stop (<- falls ill on a clockwork schedule).

Swear even though I hate using detailed plans I almost have a better time making them than I do the actual fic lmao.

Anyway for that time travel fic I'm going to write now I finished totk I'm trying to get a better idea of the pre calamity hyrule, which is so fun because it's entirely fictional, right? But one can INFER. One can IMPLY.

One can watch all the botw memories again and realise how dirty they did my boy link with his animations boy has the expression of a doormat. Like I'm squinting and I have no idea what he's supposed to be projecting. He seems like such a passive observer in his own memories :(.

But also the excuse to run around hyrule poking through broken down cabins and jumping off walls is great XD. I've always loved archaeology and this gives me the perfect outlet!

Like, did you know there was a big cathedral in the east side of castle town? Now there's not so much as a wall, there's no signifier at all, but that's what it's labelled as! I believe it faced south, so you would pass by it on your way out the east gate. Kind of crazy that's the original temple of time. Never seen it mentioned anywhere. It's potentially in the right place for oot, relative to the castle? I'd have to check.

Presumably it's where most ceremonies took place rather than the plateau - weddings, funerals and the like. (Coronations were almost certainly at the plateau.) Maybe it was part of a religious district? It's probably where Zelda prayed every day or every Sunday at least. Somewhere nice and public so people can see the princess being pious and filial and hard working etc etc. Poor girl.

On the opposite side, just outside the gates, is the prison, which has its own island in the moat and a little dock to fast track of the dungeons. I can imagine a lot of shiekah worked there, and it's interestingly (slightly worryingly) just across the moat from the ancient tech lab! That thing was a whole complex, it's ginormous! And razed to the foundation in a way you don't really get outside of castle town :/.

Anyway what's the point of having a whole moat if you don't even finish it off with a drawbridge?!? Seal the deal!

I'm going to have to get back to botw if I want to examine the castle proper though, totk has kinda done a number on it. Not sure how we're going to get it back down.

Hey, so here's something interesting that I've been doing for the past 27 minutes: watching a video I took about a month ago where I listen to The Resistance - Muse, for the first time and react to it. Well, now it's one of my favourite albums, I love it, and I freaking stop before listening to 'I Belong to You' which is one of my favourite tracks you have to be kidding me. I am so comically annoyed at myself, you know that mining meme when the guy turns around just as they're about to hit diamonds: yeah, that. AAAAH!
