#Transformers: Rescue Bots in Disguise

So the other day, I added onto a post from @too-many-blorbos and mentioned how I thought Robots in Disguise would've been improved if it were a sequel to Rescue Bots instead of Prime. Now over here, I'm gonna expand that with the other things I would change! Also, I thought it'd be fun to call this au/rewrite/whatever Rescue Bots in Disguise, or RBiD
Putting it under a read more, because it's probably gonna be... A lot.
The first change is the starting cast. As I established in the other post, we'll be replacing Bumblebee with Chase but keep Strongarm. Then, we replaced Sideswipe with Hot Rod (don't worry tho, Sideswipe will show up later with Sunstreaker in tow)
The show starts with Chase and Strongarm patrolling on Cybertron. Chase is trying to explain to Strongarm why they don't need to be concerned with one bot loitering in a public space, only for a speeding Hot Rod to rocket past them. The two pursue him, eventually catching up with him next to a Space Bridge.
Hot Rod is perplexed when told he was speeding to get here, and as Chase tries to ask if he's okay his hand brushes against the controls. The Space Bridge suddenly activates, and all three of them are pulled through to Earth.
On Earth, I've decided it would be more interesting to replace the human characters with a grown-up Raf who has a kid of his own (because I miss my boy and I want him to be there).
And while Grimlock was one of the better parts of RiD, I still feel like he isn't quite Grimlock-y enough. So, I decided to swap him out with a new Dinobot based off Spike from the movies; all you need to do is take Grimlock's Dino mode head and make his snout narrower and longer, add a sail to his back, and bam! You have a spinosaurus that's still just as intimidating as a T-Rex, while leaving the door open for a more traditional Grimlock to show up later.
One of the main plot points of the first season is that Megatronus returns with a plan to destroy both Earth and Cybertron, hence why the Primes saw fit to revive Optimus. In RBiD, however, Optimus won't be revived.
In every episode, Hot Rod will have at least one very brief encounter with a past Prime; they might be right next to/replacing his reflection in a piece of glass, he might see them standing opposite him at base only to vanish when another bot passes in front of them, or maybe he hears their voice telling him to duck in the middle of a battle.
Halfway through the season, Windblade shows up; still acting as an agent of Primus, her role in RBiD is still to help out the team, but now her primary mission is also to help Hot Rod establish a connection with the Primes. With her help, Hot Rod is finally able to have a full conversation with a still dead Optimus Prime, who reveals that he and the other past Primes have sensed an approaching darkness. He also reveals that Hot Rod was chosen to take up the mantle of Prime when the time is right – though Optimus fears they may not have the luxury of time.
As for the Decepticons... It is very strange that virtually EVERY SINGLE ONE is partially (if not mostly) animal-like, while there are (to my memory) ZERO animal-like Autobots. That's sending a weird message. So! Some of the Decepticons will have slight redesigns to be just normal humanoid robots, though exceptions can be made for ones with bestial alt-modes or when their animal-like features have a clear translation into their alt-mode, like Thunderhoof's antlers. Steeljaw is supposed to be a wolf in sheep's clothing, but since it's kinda strange that a half wolf man turns into an SUV I've decided to just make him a beastformer that turns into a wolf.
Also! Some of the prisoners aboard the ship should've been Autobots. And I don't just mean former Autobots, I mean Autobots that broke the rules but would still refuse to join the Decepticons.
At the end of the first season, when Megatronus breaks free, Optimus and the other Primes channel themselves through Hot Rod and temporarily transform him into Rodimus Prime. Shortly after Megatronus is defeated, however, he reverts back to a HEAVILY exhausted Hot Rod – another character (probably Windblade) points out that had he contained the raw power of the Primes in his body for too much longer, he might have died. The rest of the series, he's dedicated to honing himself, occasionally getting the odd power boost until the series finale, where he's finally able to become Rodimus Prime permanently.

PSA for new transformer fans
Cybertronions can’t have sex
they don’t reproduce
they are not humans
The reason you see so many NSFW and smut content in this fandom is bc humans do have sex, humans do reproduce, and humans are human(who would have known)
fanfiction is fanfiction made by FANS. They are not canon, and the filth people make would have the creators clutching there pearls. I’m not gonna sit here and act like I haven’t written multiple smut fics and use fanon terms lmao but I’ve seen so many people use fanon terms as if they were canon and I can only assume that they either don’t know or don’t care, and if you don’t care that’s fine! Ppl can do whatever they want. But for the new fans, just so you are aware, here are some FANON terms that(some)would cause multiple lawsuits if ever used in canon
Mech and Femme are never used. Mech *maybe* but I’ve never heard/seen femme
Cybertronions don’t have a concept of gender. There are trans bots but their gender is something beyond human gender, and the bots using she/he or they is just so readers can understand in human terms. We are reading these comics in English/an earth language, but they are speaking cybertronion, a made up language that can’t exactly translate to any earth language.
valve and spike. My asexual ass is NOT getting into this but they don’t reproduce, and they don’t have sex. Their all asexual basically and only have platonic or romantic relationships
in some continuities the following words are used, but are originally fanon: Servo, pede, helm, exc. They use human words, and bulkheads name is bulkHEAD. Not bulkhelm.
also sparklings aren’t a thing. Young bots, ofc. They mentally mature and their physical form can be altered but not to the extent of a human.
Just realized I’m coming off as “Holier than thou” lmao this is for educational purposes I’m just passionate

Finally a new TF drawing! This took all weekend,,, this is a piece I've wanted to do for a year now, the Build Team from TF:RID (2001) in my style! This series was Wedge's first appearance and the family dynamic these three had in their debut episode was so cute I decided to make them an actual family (人*´∀`)。*゚+
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Time to be a nerd about inherited features:
Wedge gets his Headlights, windowshield, head ridges and lift cylinder from Grimlock; his pedes, lower wheels and legs from Hightower; and helm-brim, visor, ear flats and shoulder wheels from Heavy Load! He's a group project :P
Their personalities are pretty much the same: Heavy Load is Wedge's closest mentor (#mothering), Hightower is way too flattering and Grimlock is the backbone of this family unit :3
Tumblr media
They're so stupid I hate them I hope they get squashed /affectionately
Friend tags, because it's been a while ┐(‘~`;)┌

Transformers: Rescue Bots in Disguise — Prisoners of the Alchemor, and Cybertronians on Earth
( @too-many-blorbos because I know you enjoy these posts :] )
Surprise surprise! I have more thoughts about this au!!! For this post, we're exploring what I think they should've gone with in-canon when it comes to the general roster of the prisoner ship the Alchemor as well as the connection between Earth and Cybertron at the start of the series. This post won't go into EVERYONE who was imprisoned on the ship, but it will provide some examples. Without further ado! The post!
Personally, I think it's kinda silly that Earth DOESN'T know Cybertronians exist. I mean, the arrival of New Kaon in Nevada should've announced to the Whole World that aliens existed! As such, I've decided that for TF: RBiD, the existence of Cybertronians will be a known fact by all of Earth, with there being a Cybertronian Base on Earth that's run by Ratchet — when Chase and the others come to Earth, they'll likely stay at said base. Helps to explain why we'd have an adult Raf as the main human companion as well!
The Alchemor, in TF: RBiD, will have prisoners belonging to a variety of moralities AND factions — not all of them will be Decepticons, and not all of them will be explicitly evil. And we're not going with there being more evil Decepticons or wrongly arrested Autobots, either: there will be just as many good Decepticons and evil Autobots as there are good Autobots and evil Decepticons. Why am I doing this? To help sell the main lesson Chase is trying to teach Strongarm, which I touched on in a previous post!
Will some of the escaped prisoners get locked back up? Yes, some of them should actually be serving the sentence they were given (Thunderhoof is an Actual Mafia Boss who bribed corrupt members of Cybertron's police and oh my GOD what if he was arrested by Chase? Because he made the mistake of trying to buy Chase's cooperation! Rivalry!!!)
However, some of the prisoners who got locked up were an extreme response — the first example will be our favorite Terror Twins returning together, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker! Sideswipe was arrested for going SLIGHTLY too fast in a residential area, and Sunstreaker was arrested for putting up graffiti on too many walls. For the two of them (as well as any other prisoner whose crime doesn't ACTUALLY warrant being locked up indefinitely), Chase will instead issue them a very basic community service based on their specific skillset.
You know what this results in? More background bots! A reason to bring them back in a later episode without them being Problem of the Week: 2!
Now, let's talk about Steeljaw again... Unlike in canon, where he was introduced fairly early on and Strongarm immediately saw through his ploy of "I'm one of the GOOD guys who was on the Alchemor :)" — he's going to be introduced later on (probably still in season 1, but closer to the halfway point if not later), and will be specifically introduced after several OTHER Decepticons who actually were wrongly imprisoned! That way, we can have a version of events where Strongarm actually believes him and willingly brings him into the base.
When in the base, Steeljaw will find a way to incapacitate the Rescue Bots, and when he goes to free his imprisoned Decepticon cohorts, he finds some of them out and about on the base. Believing them to be like him, he tries to enlist them to help him free the imprisoned Decepticons and crush the Autobots...
So imagine his surprise when they reply with "Are you KIDDING? Chase gave me FIFTEEN HOURS of community service and then I can go do WHATEVER I WANT so long as I don't break the law!"
And then they kick him out and help Chase and the others recover from Steeljaw's attack, because they appreciate Chase treating them like actual bots instead of criminals :]
And when some of these Bots finish their community service... They decide to stick around. Earth is nice! They can get JOBS here! A lot of them think Chase is a cool guy! (The first (and possible only) one to say this will be met with Chase asking them to call his old teammates and repeat what they just said. This Will stop anyone else from calling Chase cool to his face)

Transformers: Village
An idea that has been brewing in my head for quite awhile now. When you consider how long the Autobot/Decepticon War, Functionalist system that led to it, or similar detrimental events, there are plenty of Cybertronians who probably hightailed it outta there. Civilians and neutral bots that wanted nothing to do with either circumstances at the time.
What if a good majority ended up on Earth before both factions did? First contact being made between these groups of the respective species than someone Autobot or Decepticon affiliated. Well, here is one such outcome.
A village being formed between both civilizations in secret from the outside. Humans, Cybertronians and a few other species live together under various rules that is fair for all. Everyone sharing their culture, history, architecture, games or stories from time to time.
The next door neighbor invited to this week's barbecue could be a regular civilian, brilliant scientist, philosopher to even ex soldier. A human trading Energon they found to their Combiner companion in exchange for help with farmwork. Or a Minicon teaching a mixed species class.
These being some of the possible interactions between villagers. It is normal for a small community to become so tight knit that everyone is quick to be on the same page with certain information. Most common news can be about Cybertron and world events or the rare interspecies couple announcement.
A hidden cultural hotpot where Cybertronians can live peacefully away from the troubles they left behind. That is until the war or high profile individuals(Animated/Earthspark) are roaming around Earth. Both sides would be treated with sheer distaste to even hatred depending on the residents in question.
A revelation that will hit very hard for the Autobot/Decepticon that accidentally stumbled upon this hidden village. Even moreso if one resident was someone close to the bot in particular. Nothing says the worse reunion than your sibling aiming their cannon at your helm.
A hidden village could open up a lot of avenues upon closer inspection. Home vs Heritage elements between residents and outsiders. A deeper dive into worldbuilding between two or more different species. Plus the fact it's a possibility in almost any Transformers continuity.
I have a few ideas about this but what do you guys think?
