tbh I needed a minute to think about this bc I definitely have a handful of comfort amazingphil videos but there’s always this other weird guy in his videos but phil solo content is always a fun time so here’s what comes to mind!

-sleepless night with phil series (a classic)

-draw my life (specifically the second one post-coming out)

-trying to catch and rescue an injured wild pigeon (just so wholesome)

-solo adventures: haunted hotel and sensory deprivation tanks (i love these phil venturing into the world)

-childhood horror movie (this has always been a personal favourite, it reminds me of childhood in the uk and i love seeing how creative phil has always been)

Okay, this was sitting in my inbox for entirely too long, but I have so many DnP thoughts right now that I decided to answer it while the head is abuzzing. You may notice a theme inspired by recent events.

Dan solo video - recreating Basically I'm Gay (except Dangender™️ version)

I don't think I've talked about this before but the gender talk Dan has been talking about lately is so important and intriguing to me. As someone who first figured out my queer sexuality and then my queer gender, I'm so curious to hear him talk about this. And like, he left a door open with the "I feel like a fromless blob" in BIG. Like that came out before I was questioning my gender but it might honestly have been the start of thoughts in the back of my mind. Because that sounded nice. Formless blob. It felt like a very hard hitting vibe. I want another long ass video essay that'll punch me in the gut, make me reflect on society and gender and everything in between.

Phil solo video - recreating Trying To Catch And Rescue An Injured WILD Pigeon (any animal edition)

This video was genuinely so damn delightful and I loved how Phil just went all in on saving a wild animal. Like I felt so much for Steve the pigeon and seeing Phil in action to catch him, call the vet and just figure everything out. Like it was inspiring and heartwarming and with Phil's natural inclination towards animals I don't doubt he could come across another animal that would need help. He's got such a big heart and he could never walk away from anyone that needed help. He can spring into action like no other and his way of storytelling is so damn compelling.

Joint video - recreating DAN AND PHIL MASSIVE PIZZA MUKBANG (Fryday edition?)

Listen, this video is so close to my heart and the way that they invited us in on a sacred Domino tradition and just chatted with us was so freaking great and lovely. It was just them hanging out, only vaguely paying attention to the camera and existing. I would love another video where we're just invited in to observe the chats and see them eat delicious food. Seeing fryday (on a Saturday) could be really cool, though I also understand if they'd want to keep that for themselves. But I just want more of those open and honest vibes, candid little confessions and the pure domesticity of it.

🕓: I started watching at the ripe age of 12, back in 2011 and it genuinely looks like the first video I found was "Spin the Bottle" which means Phil's Gay Clickbait has been working on me for almost 13 years

🌈: Unfortunately I beat Dan and Phil to the punch by about 8 years when I was in grade 8 and a friend of mine discovered bisexuality and just kinda... told me I was also gay. Like she wasn't WRONG and I'm glad to have figured it out so young but it was a bit jarring to be 12 and dealing with the gay thing lmao.

🥺: Like, all of them honestly, but there's a special place in my heart for "Trying to Catch and Rescue an Injured WILD Pigeon!", mostly because I remember the way I felt knowing Dan was still alive? Like it had been a year since we had heard anything from him, and seeing that him and Phil were just casually making do during lockdown and like just as happy as before, it warmed my cold ass heart 🥹

i have so many but my favorite phil solo video is def either COTY bc it's so simple and it's so phil, a tour of my plants (living and dead) or it's trying to catch and rescue an injured wild pigeon! i love all of his older weirder videos too. but if we're talking joint content then definitely all the wdapteo videos, i try to give dan a haircut, dan is leaving me, and this most recent one!! i've rewatched all of them multiple times.

One of my favorite Phil videos of all time! Phil had been trying to make friends with the pigeons from the moment they moved into the second London flat.

0:01 - what a random start

0:08 - Steve was a surprisingly large amount of the houseplant video

0:20 - so many Steve clips! DNP just filmed him out there all the time, likely way before knowing this would be a video. Phil had shared some of these before (1, 2, 3, 4)

0:32 - this clip must have been later on/recently, as the pet carrier used later in the video is sitting there

0:46 - that was right after the plant video was posted at the end of June, and Phil responded that he would try to help

0:56 - a surprisingly opinionated Phil! I would guess he was getting annoyed seeing how other “influencers” were behaving when DNP were trying to be so careful

1:11 - poor Steve!

1:32 - an attempt was made (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). the RSPCA tweeted him after this video was posted

1:51 - fair. I would have that same anxiety of treating something like an emergency that wasn’t

2:04 - in those two (obviously edited) screenshots the subject lines he shows are “Pigeon” and “Steve”...I really want to know what he actually used as the subject line and I hope it was just “Steve”

I really wonder when he decided to turn this into a video. Obviously he had Dan start filming him doing all the components of it early on (unless some of those phone calls, etc. are recreations), but I can’t imagine he would have posted it if it hadn’t worked out/something had gone wrong.

Anyway, I love this video. It has all the components of a fantastic video. Peak Phil story-telling! Going outside! Adventure and a bit of chaos! Camera-man Dan! So great.

Okay, okay. That was a wonderful, wonderful video. I can’t even begin to explain. They fact that Phil went through this trouble of getting Steve comfortable with the box, calling people on the phone (which he doesn’t like), and worrying over him so much is just freaking heartwarming. Phil is such a good person, seriously. All the little comments about masks and taking the pandemic seriously. The careful planning, and the skit with Phil with a blanket over his head. The walk to the vet. Dan making small appearances. Dan and Phil’s freaking laughter as they let Steve go and he went right for the seeds. It loosened something tight in my chest and it just made me burst out into laughter along with them. It was such a pure and wonderful video. It’s truly a Phil masterpiece. I loved it so much.
