Louis Tomlinson “The Communist King” is a liar who exploits his fans—Part I
As promised, this post exists thanks to The Mayor of the Hags and her usual “Louis good, Harry bad” nonsense.
Generally speaking, I don’t have a problem with Louis himself—I dislike him, sure, but my real issue is with his fans. This blog is about providing receipts for a fairer fandom, not defending Harry Styles’ honor (god knows he doesn’t need me for that).
That said, The Mayor of the Hags isn’t pulling this out of thin air. Louis Tomlinson is a shady motherfucker and a liar, so let’s get into it.
INTRO
Before we start, a necessary clarification: Understanding someone’s upbringing and economic status in the UK requires knowing its class system—a deeply ingrained structure that goes beyond money.
Yes, Louis’ family was working class. That’s not up for debate. But so were the other four members of One Direction—the difference is, they weren’t marketed that way.
Initially, Louis wasn’t in control of that image either. 1D’s team assigned each member a persona, and his was the “working-class underdog.” His family history—his teen mom, absent dad, and their supposed struggles—was hammered into fans’ heads.
The 1D documentary reinforced this. His mom spoke about their hardships, Louis talked about sharing his wages, and his role as the eldest helping his siblings was a recurring theme. It wasn’t just mentioned—it was drilled in. And while it wasn’t false, it was exaggerated for a narrative.
And this branding wasn’t aimed at class-conscious Brits. Why? Two reasons:
1D’s fanbase was global, which meant most of them wouldn’t grasp UK class nuances.
1D’s fanbase was also mainly pre-teens, so even British fans—it’d mostly flow right by them.
What fans would understand is poverty. That’s what Louis’ branding tapped into.
All five 1D members came from working-class backgrounds. None were well-off. If they really wanted to highlight financial hardship within the group, the person that actually struggled was Zayn—but instead, they were too busy whitewashing him, erasing his Pakistani father, and branding him as “mysterious” to bother. Emphasizing his economic background would’ve clashed with that strategy.
THE REALITY
Louis’ mom, Johannah, was 18 when he was born, and his biological father, Troy Austin, left when Louis was just a baby—both true facts.
Being a teenage single mom can be tough financially, but what often gets overlooked is that Johannah met Mark Tomlinson soon after Troy left. Mark became a father figure to Louis, legally adopted him, and went on to have four more kids with Johannah.
Mark often shares old photos on his Instagram, like the ones below, showing how long he’s been in Louis’ life. In the first, Louis is blowing out four candles on Christmas Eve 1995. In the second, from December 1994, Mark captions it “Christmas past with Louis & Daddy.” These photos confirm Mark was already a father figure to Louis by the time he was two, spending Christmas together and calling himself “Daddy” before Louis turned three.
Louis had a present father who gave him his last name and was there throughout his childhood. Mark and Johannah married and stayed together until late 2010 or early 2011, by which point Louis was already in One Direction, meaning he grew up in a stable two-parent household.
His eldest sister, Lottie, was born in 1998, and his second sister, Félicité, in 2000—when Louis was six and eight years old, respectively.
Around this time, Johannah attended Leeds University and graduated with a degree in Midwifery in 2002. Leeds University confirmed this, featuring her in an alumni magazine alongside Ben Winston, who graduated two years later
For those unfamiliar with the UK education system, studying at Leeds University can be expensive and is considered one of the top universities in the country (though not quite at the level of Oxbridge). To put its prestige into perspective, it was good enough for the son of a Baron—Ben Winston. His father, Baron Robert Winston, has held a seat in the House of Lords since 1995.
The fact that Johannah was able to attend Leeds while raising three children—presumably on just Mark’s paycheck—suggests they were financially stable enough to support her education, their home, and their kids.
Mark worked as a commercial truck salesman, a well-paying role, especially since commercial trucks typically have higher profit margins than regular cars. After graduating, Johannah worked as a midwife at an NHS hospital, a job that also offers a solid income. By 2004, when Louis was 12, Johannah gave birth to twins, Daisy and Phoebe, who appeared as extras on an ITV show, Fat Friends. Johannah also worked as a chaperone on set, where she met James Corden.
Louis had a few TV roles as well, including an extra part in the film If I Had You and in the drama series Waterloo Road.
In the early 2000s, Johannah likely earned £18K–22K a year as a midwife, depending on her band, plus extra income from her chaperone work. Mark’s base salary would’ve been slightly above minimum wage, so around £15K, with commissions potentially doubling or even tripling that, bringing his total income to £30K–60K+.
Together, their combined income would have ranged from £50K to £82K+ annually.
For context, the median household income in Doncaster in 2024 was around £24K. In the 2000s, that figure was likely even lower, meaning the Tomlinsons' combined income would have easily doubled or even tripled the local average.
This was reflected in their lifestyle. The family regularly went on vacations, and Louis went to France every single year since he was born.

Sometimes twice a year…

Going to France every year, sometimes twice a year, for a big family of seven would be nearly impossible for a financially struggling family. While it's not super expensive for a British family to go to France, the frequency and size of the trips suggest the Tomlinsons were financially comfortable, not struggling.
In fact, Louis even taught Harry how to ski—though Harry was supposed to be “the posh one”... Skiing is definitely not a cheap hobby, further highlighting the Tomlinsons' financial stability.

Louis owned a Clio as a teenager, and his girlfriend at the time, Hannah, confirmed it on Twitter. Although her account has since been deleted, you can still find a link to the tweet.
For Americans, this might not seem that significant, but in the UK, it's much less common for teenagers—especially those from lower-income backgrounds—to own a car. In fact, a 2017 poll showed that only 55% of people aged 18-29 owned any car or motor vehicle (including bikes). And that’s up to age twenty-nine.
In the UK, you can't drive until you're 17. By 2012, only 10% of 17-year-olds had a driver's license, according to the Department for Transport.
This highlights how rare it was for Louis to not only drive but also own his own car. If he was able to sell it when he moved to London with One Direction, then it clearly wasn’t a family car.
Louis also owned a mid-tier smartphone, a laptop with editing software (for uploading covers to his YouTube channel), gaming consoles, and expensive clothes. He took acting lessons and even owned a keyboard.
The Tomlinsons lived in a detached house in Bessacarr, the most expensive part of Doncaster. Detached houses are typically the most desirable types of property since they don't share walls with neighbors. In contrast, semi-detached homes and terraced houses are more common in working-class areas.
A TikToker from the area did a tour of Louis’ childhood home and his grandparents’ house (neither of which are owned by the family anymore). The Tomlinsons had owned the detached house since at least Lottie’s early childhood.
I want to make this clear: none of this means his family was wealthy, nor does it erase their working-class status. The area they lived in, their family history, and the jobs they held were all firmly working class. With such a large family, they likely faced financial difficulties, especially when Louis was younger.
What this does negate, however, is Louis’ repeated claims of severe financial hardship—his insistence that they were a low-income family who couldn’t afford anything.
Louis' constant emphasis on his struggles feels forced, like a strategy to appear relatable despite being a millionaire charging fans—who are actually struggling, in some cases—premium prices. His image is a caricature, and we’ll continue to deconstruct it. He didn’t just exaggerate; he outright lied about some of these claims.
At some point, I may dedicate a post to Harry’s background, but for now, it’s important to note that while he was marketed as “posh,” he actually came from a working-class family, facing many of the same struggles as Louis. Although his family lived in more affluent areas for part of his childhood, his childhood home was a terraced house, described as “humble” in publications.
Before settling in Holmes Chapel, Harry’s family lived in Evesham and above a pub in Northwich, both of which were far less affluent. His parents separated when he was seven, and his mother remarried, only to separate again when Harry was twelve. Both Harry and his sister, Gemma, were latchkey kids due to their mother's long working hours.
Robin, Harry's stepdad, didn’t come into his life until Harry was 13/14, and they didn’t marry until Harry was 19. By then, Harry had been in 1D for years. While Robin was wealthier, he was only a significant presence in Harry’s life for a very short period prior to the band.
So why was Harry marketed as “posh”? Every pop band has a “posh” member. In Take That, it was Gary Barlow. In the Spice Girls, they went all in and literally nicknamed Victoria Adams “Posh Spice.” It’s a strategy to ensure all audiences have someone they can relate to. But since all the members of One Direction were decidedly working class, the closest one to “posh” was Harry—simply by virtue of living in a slightly more affluent area. (Crewe, where Holmes Chapel is located, has a median income just £2K above Doncaster’s, so while property and education were definitely “higher level,” it was nowhere near the vast difference we were led to believe).
Perceptions of British social class aside, Louis and Harry’s financial realities were strikingly similar. In fact, on paper, Louis seemed to live with a bit more luxury—at least until Robin entered the picture.
THE HAMMERING
Louis was marketed by 1D’s team as the “working-class lad,” with a heavy emphasis on financial struggles and his family background. While this wasn’t his responsibility, once he went solo, he fully embraced it, making it a core part of his brand.
It’s normal to mention your background in interviews, but what’s odd is when it appears in every single one of them. Take this one from Noisey (now Vice) in 2017, where he’s introduced as:
The fact that Louis’ background was so average, so relatable, was already inherently part of his appeal. Rather than trying to shrug off his working class Northern roots, he vehemently embraced them. There was nothing about Louis that screamed ‘showbiz.’ He didn’t come from money. He hadn’t been to Brit School.
They then position him as the opposite of the other 1D members, especially Harry. (They even link an article where they snobbishly criticize Harry, but I won’t dive into that here to avoid getting derailed.)
Even today, seven years later, when he couldn’t live a life further from what he grew up knowing, he clings onto his background with an almost commendable stubbornness. While the others from the band—particularly Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, and even Liam Payne to a certain degree—seem to revel in the starry sheen of pop fame by dating other high-profile figures, being seen on the front row at fashion shows or stumbling out of A-list parties and having the sort of meticulously crafted marketing campaigns that are designed to create intrigue, Louis has always appeared to shy away from that side of things; with one foot cautiously dipped into the lifestyle, and the other firmly on the ground.
Louis would then go on about Doncaster, how his mates kept him grounded, and how he doesn’t like the Hollywood party scene. That’s basically the theme of every interview he’s had since, up until today.
I can’t think of anything more boring than going through all of Louis’ interviews in detail, so I’ll just share short snippets with sources of a few of them instead.
HYPEBEAST - 2023
Many know Louis Tomlinson as a Doncaster lad-turned-pop-icon and part of era-defining boyband, One Direction. But despite his superstar status, the 31-year-old has never lost touch with his relaxed Northern soul. It’s been central to everything he puts his mind to, from music to football… and now, fashion.
That’s how it starts, btw.
FAR OUT MAGAZINE - 2019
His working-class Yorkshire heritage, he told me, is what has made him the man he is today: “You’ve got to be fucking humble where we’re from you know what I mean? Because otherwise you get called out like ‘who the fuck do you think you are?’”. The greatest takeaway from our conversation is that Louis Tomlinson is still that music enthusiast that entered the music industry in 2010 who, despite all the success and fame, has managed to stay grounded.
A music enthusiast who hasn’t learned how to play a single instrument in 15 years and cannot talk about songwriting coherently for the life of him. Sure. Whatever you say.
THE GUARDIAN - 2017
Tomlinson gives the example of how he first became famous. Born in Doncaster in 1991 he was raised by his mother, Johannah Deakin, and later also by her new partner Mark Tomlinson. (...) And as a self-aware northerner, from a proudly working class family (...)
“Later also,” the wording implies much later, not at TWO YEARS OLD. I also thought they might not mention his family was working class in one interview. Alas.
THE GUARDIAN - 2019
As a child, growing up in Doncaster with his mum Johannah, who raised him alone until she married Tomlinson’s stepfather, he loved performing. “I liked to be the class clown, I liked to make people laugh, to show off, all that.” When his younger twin sisters were cast on TV dramas, he would sometimes go along as their chaperone, earning £30. “Where I’m from, we don’t have anyone who’s been on TV or anything like that, so it was super-exciting,” he says. He ended up picking up work as an extra. “The pinnacle of my acting career was one line on an ITV drama. I don’t even know if they used my scene,” he says with a laugh. When he was 15, he joined a drama group in Barnsley, which his mum would take him to when she could afford it. “I think I was confused, thinking I wanted to act when actually what I wanted to do was perform.”
Once again, minimizing the role of his stepfather to paint this picture of a single mom. Mark raised him for SIXTEEN YEARS. Johannah was a single mom for TWO.
She took him to lessons “when she could afford it.” The constant drilling of these financial struggles drips drips drips from every single word in every single interview. This interview in particular will be brought up later again.
THE GUARDIAN - 2022
I worked at Doncaster Rovers as the guy you bought the pies off. We had a little scheme. If the pie fell on the floor, even foil side up, it couldn’t be sold. I didn’t have a lot of money at the time, so a lot went overboard, because the pies were banging. I’ve not been on a night out in Doncaster for years. It’s a combination of being too busy and the fact there’s always a chancer who wants to give you a slap. I don’t want to get my head kicked in. I’m low-maintenance. I don’t have any major diva requests. As long as I’ve got coffee and cigarettes, I’m sound.
THE TELEGRAPH - 2022
Scruffily unshaven, in gym wear and trainers, the 30-year-old hops up to open a window, while chatting away in a friendly and engaged manner. “I never really chose this life,” he insists, with a strong Doncaster accent (though he lives in Hertfordshire now). “I auditioned for X Factor and crossed me fingers. And now, here I am.”
In. Every. Interview. He has to tack that in. He just has to.
METRO - 2022
“That’s the sound that I would say defined growing up for me. That kind of music is big in the North of England full stop and especially in working class town-forward-slash-just-been-made-a-city Doncaster. I spent a lot of my time as a young lad in this indie bar called Priory, and that’s how I discovered a lot about music that I’ve grown up to love.”
This one is hilarious, because the question was about what type of music he liked and why. He could be asked what he had for breakfast and he’d reply, “Well, as a working-class lad from Doncaster...” To be perfectly honest? I presume he already has said something to that effect.
“UNDER THE TONGUE”, Adidas Documentary - 2024
“We didn’t have a load of money when I were younger, so I didn’t have great boots growing up. Like anyone who didn’t have a pair of Predators, of course I always aspired to have a pair.”
It’s a 2-minute appearance and he manages to sneak that in. Insanity.
This talking point is persistent in everything he does. Even in stuff like his track-by-track commentary, particularly for his second album, FitF.
The man wore hammer and sickle clothes, for crying out loud.
The literal communist symbol. Im not here to do the meme...
But I am here to tell you that a communist Louis Tomlinson is not. He exploits his fans, especially his most ardent ones, who tend to be the ones who suffer economic hardships the most—the ones he’s trying to be relatable to. The ones who see themselves in his inane discourse. But we’ll get to that.
His whole “anarchy” as an asthetic—particularly as a tattoo— is grating as fuck.
Louis is a multi-millionnaire who hoards wealth through very little hardship and who nowadays makes a ton of money with the least amount of effort. This goes against the very fabric of the anarchist movement.
He’s also a very proud Englishman who even in fucking INDIA pointed to a fan wearing an England shirt in the audience:

Overt nationalism coming from a self-ascribed anarchist, particularly from one who comes from a colony system as cruel and long-lived as the British Empire over India, is the exact opposite of what anarchism stands for.
Remember when he did an entire music video for his main solo single in 2017 in Doncaster:
youtube
Whatever, cool, if it wasn’t for the fact that it came with an entire round of press with this as a central talking point. And a behind the scenes music video where the main focus is once again, Doncaster and how working class it is.
youtube
He also wrote a couple of songs about this or related to it, particularly Common People:
youtube
And with this song, we start the next section.
THE LIES
If he was simply hyper-focused on this upbringing of his—despite the fact that he’s spent about half his life living as a millionnaire already and well, everything else I’ve already covered, it’d be a little comical, whatever, but he outright lies and exaggerates constantly.
The lyrics to Common People... the only reason he gets away with these lies is that he’s not successful enough for non-fans to notice, and his fans would jump off a building if he asked them to.
I came from a good home A house full of terraced dreams That was enough for me You know, you had to see it to believe
You... you didn’t live in a terraced house, Louis. You lived in a quite big detached house in Bessaccar, with a two-income household that doubled (maybe even tripled) the median for the area. WHY ARE YOU OUTRIGHT LYING? You know who lived in terraced/semi-detached houses? ALL OF YOUR 1D BANDMATES. And NONE OF THEM made their working-class background their entire personality!
It’s insidious, the way he lies. In his documentary, he has his grandparents talk about how little money his mom had and how they lived in a little apartment. Then Louis says that his biological dad left him and he was alone with his mom, but that he didn’t “miss the love of a father” because his mom “doubled that.”
Then Lottie talks about how he had four sisters, and Louis takes over and says he loved being “the only lad.” The implication being here that his mother was taking care of five children on her own. That there was no father.
All of this conversation happens over footage of Louis, his mom, and his sisters. He completely erases his stepfather from a huge chunk of his life. A stepfather that was there for him since he was two. There are not even pictures of Mark during this segment, a feat that was probably quite hard to accomplish, considering he was literally there. This was part of an extended trailer for the documentary, meaning the part most people would watch (from 2 mins on).
youtube
Of course, you could try to find a way to justify it, somehow. Maybe he’s not on good terms with his stepdad? Maybe his stepdad did something or something happened, and Louis made the operative decision not to include him for that reason? But his stepdad is in the documentary. In fact, he shows up right after this section to talk about Louis auditioning for Grease when he was a teenager.
So, the decision to completely erase his stepdad—the man who adopted him and gave him his last name when he was a toddler—from a huge chunk of his life, specifically highlighting his and his mom’s struggles, is simply glaring. It’s obviously purposeful. It’s trying to rewrite history and present a completely different reality. One could maybe overlook it as a strange decision, but with no ulterior motives, if Louis hadn’t spent the last several years of his solo career continuously underlining his “struggles” every step of the way.
But he does. Victimization is one of his biggest tools, and being “a working class lad” is at the forefront of this image.
He lied when he said that his mom took him to drama class “when she could afford it” considering in other interviews he said he just wasn’t consistent with it.
He talked about not being able to afford expensive clothes, but he... did.... he owned expensive clothes. He didn’t own designer clothes. But he owned expensive clothes. He even tweeted about buying them before joining the band.
He lied when he said that he couldn’t afford the boots he wanted. Louis you had multiple jobs. You were well-off enough to afford a car. Don’t piss me the fuck off. Maybe your mom didn’t think it was a good idea to spend £150 on overpriced boots, when perfectly good ones could go for as cheap as £60 to £30, but that’s called BEING MIDDLE CLASS. It’s not, “we didn’t have a lot of money.”
He’s so detached from reality that he thinks not being able to splash out buying Predator Adidas is somehow a class signifier. LOUIS, MOST KIDS HAD PARENTS WHO WOULD REFUSE THAT SORT OF SHALLOW SPENDING.
The way he frames things, the way he insists on this talking point. He probably has bought his own lies at this point. There are a ton of others, but they’re smaller. Just white lies. It’d take me forever to break them down one by one, but the thing about them is that they add up to create a picture that simply isn’t true.
THE SHADE
He uses this marketing strategy of his to throw shade at... well, at a lot of people. You’ve seen how one of the earliest articles of his solo career positioned him against Harry, Liam, and Zayn. Also against the obscure figure of “the A-list celebrity.” Against popstars.
Mainly, though, his antagonist is Harry. He throws a lot of shade towards Harry, but never with his chest.
Remember that 2019 The Guardian interview that I said would come up again?
“If I went back to Doncaster and I was dripping in Gucci or whatever, I’d probably get whacked. I’m always very conscious of not acting too big for my boots. It’s the people around me who keep me sane and normal, because they give me insight into real life.”
He said that in September 2019, just a couple of weeks after Harry became the most visible Gucci ambassador and the face of their gender neutral fragrance
But shade aside, because that was 100% purposeful, just two years before saying this... he was dripping with Gucci, and Stella McCartney, and Off White... where? Yep, in Doncaster.

And his “mates” were right there...
And no, it wasn’t an isolated event. He wore Gucci a ton of times. He wore Gucci when hanging out with friends, walking down the street, at concerts, etc. It wasn’t that a stylist put him in a brand and he had no idea or anything like that.

The man, to this day, wears a ton of designer clothes. Prada, Alexander Wang, Burberry, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Armani. Dior, Balmain, Ralph Lauren. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course. The problem is that he acts like wearing these clothes would be that he’d be ashamed to be caught doing. As if he was the opposite of everything Harry represents (something that The Mayor of the Hags constantly drones about).
It’s extremely hypocritical because he does the same thing.
Harry just wears cute clothes, mostly. Sometimes trippy. Louis wears sweatpants that cost a fortune for no reason. Which is fine—he’s a filthy rich celebrity. JUST FUCKING OWN IT, MAN.
A few months after Harry’s debut album came out—a concise record that was 10 tracks long and lasted 40:18 mins—Louis was asked if his debut album would have more than 10 tracks, to which he replied:

That... that is not how music works. Music is art. The important part of music is that it’s good, that it moves something in you, that you enjoy it. If anything, the important part of it in terms of value is if it has replay. I’ve legit never seen anyone else say “value for money” in terms of tracks on an album. He’s so fucking try-hard and corny.
ANYWAY, Louis’ debut album, despite the Communist King’s comments, did have more than 10 tracks... 12, to be exact. It was, incidentally, shorter than HS1, clocking at 39:30 mins. So, by Louis’ own definition, I guess that’s... not value for money?

We covered the other instances of shade already, like when he shaded Harry for not taking drugs while he was in 1D. And there are, of course, others, but they’re not necessarily tied to this whole class/money thing—that I can remember! If you have more examples, feel free to send them over and I’ll add them.
His fans do the heavy lifting for him on this topic. Because he has repeated these talking points so many times that they automatically attack Harry with them.
Louis has somehow convinced them that when he pisses on them, it’s rain. Because make no mistake, The Communist King, pisses on his fans. And that’s what we’ll talk about in part II.
THE STANDARD INTERVIEW
So, we arrived at the last part of this post. It’s funny because I started writing it before this interview came out.
[The following few paragraphs are background info on the writer and the publication. If you want to skip to the interview analysis, you can!
It was written by Joe Bromley, Fashion Editor at The Standard. Bromley’s career dates back to ES Magazine, a key publication in cultural influence. He joined The Evening Standard in 2021 and became junior writer in 2023, with a meteoric rise to editor. He’s also contributed to Lampoon Mag, Yahoo UK, and The Irish Independent. The Evening Standard is a reputable publication in its own right.
Of course, Louis’ fans tried to claim that Bromley is “a Harrie” or was paid by Harry’s team to write such a negative piece. The evidence for this? A year ago, he wrote one article about Harry. It’s not overtly positive and has some snide comments and shade, but it leans positive overall. Otherwise, there’s no connection between them. Bromley doesn’t even follow Harry on social media. He does follow Harry Lambert (Harry’s stylist) and Alessandro Michele, but both are designers, so, as a Fashion Editor, it’s his job to follow them.
Naturally, no one can organically be bemused by Louis’ ridiculous attempt at branding. Joe must be on someone’s payroll!
Why would Harry’s team care to do this? Well, The Hags have somehow convinced themselves that, despite Louis’ solo career going nowhere while Harry’s has skyrocketed, Harry (or his team) is somehow very threatened by Louis and his potential. They can’t explain why anyone—let alone Harry Styles—would be threatened by someone who can’t sing, can’t play any instruments, has the charisma of a cardboard box, and takes zero care of his physical appearance. But, you know, if you repeat something enough times, even if you can’t back it up, it becomes reality.]
Louis describes himself as “chavvy.” This isn’t the first time he’s done this—he’s used the term multiple times.
And this, this misuse of the term chav and what it implies, is exactly why his whole persona is so problematic.
A chav is not simply a young person from a working-class background whose parents didn’t allow them to buy Adidas Predators. A chav is a term that implies actual struggle. It implies growing up on a council estate or a deprived neighborhood, not being able to afford food, lacking access to proper education, enduring an unstable home environment, and growing up surrounded by violence. It implies being unsafe and ostracized by society.
Louis faced none of this. He grew up in a stable, two-parent, two-income household that earned double the median income, with access to technology, education, and a supportive family. He lived in a beautiful, affluent neighbourhood. He owned a fucking car. He might have been a little rowdy and couldn’t afford very expensive boots—that doesn’t make him a chav.
A regular person could describe themselves as a chav without “earning it,” and we could have a lighthearted discussion on whether that’s appropriate. But Louis isn’t a regular person. He’s been crafting this persona for years. He’s been building this fake background since he first went solo, and now, as a fucking millionaire, he’s using it as an excuse to sell overpriced apparel to young girls.
To some degree, it’s reminiscent of the conversation about Harry and queerness. So, why is it problematic for Louis to do this and not for Harry? There are three main reasons.
Harry hasn’t claimed an identity that doesn’t belong to him. In fact, he’s deliberately not claimed any. Queerness isn’t something we can physically measure—it’s something inherent that can change and evolve. No one could assert that he’s lying if he did claim it, but the fact is, he hasn’t. Louis, on the other hand, has. Loudly, repeatedly. He slapped the chav label on himself, a label that can be physically measured, and one he decidedly hasn’t earned.
What Harry adopted is an aesthetic. Aesthetics can’t be copyrighted, and there’s nothing inherently problematic about adopting one. In fact, it would be problematic to assume someone is part of a specific community because of the clothes they wear. If Louis had simply adopted a “chav aesthetic,” it might be a little cringe at his 33 years of age, but there’d be nothing wrong with it.
Harry is not ascribing or perpetuating negative stereotypes to queerness or to the aesthetic surrounding it... As you’re about to see, Louis is.
This caricature Louis creates only serves to denigrate and vilify the working class he wants to use for his image. The portrayal of being loud, irresponsible, constantly partying, not dressing up for events, cursing inappropriately, and showing disinterest in culture is rooted in harmful stereotypes. It normalizes them, especially for his global audience, many of whom wouldn’t fully understand what the term even means.
“There’s a very, very chavvy aesthetic in Doncaster, at least when I was growing up. That’s exactly who I am and the kind of stuff that I like.”
This quote highlights exactly what’s wrong with his persona. For most people deemed “chavs” in the real world, it’s not an aesthetic—it’s their lives. It’s their prospects for the future. It’s the violence they face every day, the deprivation, and the pain of broken households. They can’t just put on a “chav costume” and use it to sell overpriced, glorified merch to teenagers, then take it off when it’s no longer convenient.
“I don’t think it’s a bad word, not to me.”
Well, it doesn’t matter what it means to you, Louis. I know it might be hard to believe, but you’re not the center of the universe. What matters is what the term means culturally and the negative connotations it carries. The term chav is generally deemed as social racism. Its connotations are overwhelmingly negative—they have affected entire generations of low-income men and women. And you’re helping prolong the stigma.
“To me it’s about culture. It might mean other things to other people.”
What culture? You know nothing about culture. You’ve admitted you don’t read books, explore cities, try new foods, or listen to other genres of music. In this very interview, you even admitted you can’t name a single thing you like about London—one of the most culturally rich cities in the world, where you’ve lived for almost half your life. You also admitted you wouldn’t even know where to move if you wanted to.
You have no grasp of culture. You’re entitled, privileged, and have the narrowest view of the world. It’s not that “chav” might mean other things to other people—it’s that it does. But you wouldn’t know that, because that would require you to take your eyes off your own navel for two seconds.
Your understanding of the world and what being working class means hasn’t evolved since you were 18. You don’t have an adult perspective on the cultural and socioeconomic struggles that come with being low income and marginalized. It’s why you equate not being able to buy Adidas Predators with “not having money.” You didn’t experience actual deprivation or marginalization as a child, had everything you could ever wish for as soon as you became an adult, and never showed an ounce of curiosity to dig deeper or gain at least an outsider’s perspective.
You’re a fraud. The editor of The Standard saw right through you. That’s why he pointed out your actual height and the fact that you wear concealer. It’s why he implied that you weren’t being genuine when you went on about loving your fans’ invasive attitude. It’s why he demeaned your clothing line and your environment.
Your fans will continue to make excuses for your shortcomings. They’ll keep blaming everyone else for it—your management, your label, your PR agent, your friends, your sisters, Harry Styles, Harry Styles’ team, Harry Styles’ fans—anyone but the real culprit: YOU.
Everyone else sees right through it.
Part II should be up shortly. And, if I dare say so myself, it’s particularly cutting.

Evolving with Code: A Year in the Honours Bachelor of Computer Science in Leeds
Introduction As a student in the Honours Bachelor of Computer Science program at the University of Leeds, I have had the opportunity to evolve and grow as a programmer over the past year. This article will take you through my journey, highlighting the key skills I have developed, the challenges I have faced, and the experiences that have shaped me into the programmer I am today. Learning the Fundamentals The first semester of my program was all about laying the groundwork for my future studies. I was introduced to the basics of programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++. I spent countless hours practicing coding exercises, participating in group projects, and attending lectures to ensure I had a solid understanding of the material. Building Projects As I progressed through the program, I began to work on more complex projects that allowed me to apply my knowledge in real-world scenarios. I developed a mobile app using Java and Android Studio, which taught me about user interface design, database management, and problem-solving. I also worked on a web development project using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, which helped me understand the importance of web architecture, scalability, and security. Working with a Team One of the most valuable experiences I had during my first year was working with a team on a group project. We were tasked with developing a game using C++ and OpenGL, which required us to collaborate, communicate, and manage our time effectively. This project taught me the importance of teamwork, conflict resolution, and adaptability. Challenging Assignments Throughout the year, I encountered challenging assignments that pushed me out of my comfort zone. One assignment required me to develop a chatbot using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning algorithms. This project was particularly challenging because it forced me to think creatively and develop a deep understanding of AI concepts. Conclusion As I look back on my first year in the Honours Bachelor of Computer Science program at the University of Leeds, I am proud of the progress I have made. I have developed a strong foundation in programming languages, built projects that showcase my skills, worked with a team, and overcome challenging assignments. I am excited to see what the future holds and how I will continue to evolve as a programmer. FAQs How do I get started with programming? Start by learning the basics of a programming language such as variables, data types, and control structures. Why is programming important? Programming is important because it allows you to automate tasks, solve complex problems, and create innovative solutions. Are programming languages similar? While programming languages share some similarities, each language has its own unique features, syntax, and use cases. Do I need to know math to be a programmer? While math is not essential for programming, having a strong understanding of mathematical concepts such as algebra and geometry can be helpful. Where can I find resources to learn programming? There are many online resources available to learn programming, including tutorials, online courses, and coding communities. Which programming language should I learn first? The best programming language to learn first is often dependent on your goals and interests. Popular choices for beginners include Python, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS. Who can help me with programming? You can find help with programming from online communities, coding mentors, and programming professionals. Will I be able to get a job with a degree in computer science? Yes, a degree in computer science can lead to a wide range of job opportunities in the tech industry. When should I start building my own projects? You can start building your own projects as soon as you feel comfortable with the basics of programming. This will help you apply your knowledge and develop your problem-solving skills. #Evolving #Code #Year #Honours #Bachelor #Computer #Science #Leeds

The Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 1) #153: The Longest Hundred Yards!
Read Date: August, 2023 Cover Date: February 1976 ● Writer: Len Wein ● Penciler: Ross Andru ● Inker: Mike Esposito ● Colorist: Glynis Wein ● Letterer: John Costanza ● Editor: Len Wein ●

**HERE BE SPOILERS: Skip ahead to the fan art/podcast to avoid spoilers (👏=didn't like it, 👏👏=it was ok, 👏👏👏=I liked it, 👏👏👏👏=I really liked it!, 👏👏👏👏👏=I loved it!)
Reactions As I Read: ● oh FFS, Peter, Mary Jane was giving you the chance to talk and you handle it like that?

● aww, poor birb! ● I hope Mindy gets a good therapist… ● 👏👏👏
Synopsis: After a long bout of studying, Peter Parker goes web-slinging out as Spider-Man. It is a quiet night until he spots a taxi cab moving by blinking its duty light on and off as if in distress. Spider-Man swings down and forces the cab to crash. Two gunmen emerge from the back of the cab, but Spider-Man easily dispatches them. In the aftermath of the battle, the taxi driver complains about the damage done to his cab. Spider-Man attempts to use his spider-strength to fix the car, but this fails. Fed up with the cabbies ungratefulness, Spidey swings away, telling the driver to have his insurance pay for it.
That afternoon, Peter Parker arrives at Empire State University in the hopes of getting a chance to talk to Mary Jane. As he arrives he spots her buying ice cream with Flash Thompson and Harry Osborn. When he tries to get Mary Jane to talk to him privately, she attempts to brush him off because she is still angry with him leaving her alone at a party. Picking up on the scene, Flash and Harry decide to give the pair some time alone. Peter points out how Mary Jane was fighting to keep him when they thought Gwen Stacy was back from the dead, and questions why she is being distant with him now. When she tells him that she realized he isn't worth fighting for, Peter gets angry and is about to storm off, when Mary Jane cracks and tells him that she lied and invites him to sit down next to her and share her ice cream.
With thing patched up, the pair goes for a walk until they are interrupted by Ned Leeds. Ned is on assignment with the Daily Bugle to interview Bradly Bolton, a former ESU football champ who became a computer wizard since graduating. He asks Peter to tag along to help him understand the more technical information. They meet Bolton on the football field, and he tells them about how his football career ended during a 100-yard dash that ended in being tackled just before the goal line and lost the game. Bolton then gave up football and delved into computer sciences. Although he misses his glory days, he points out that his career had been good to him, leading to his marriage to his wife Ellen and the birth of his daughter, Mindy. Their interview is interrupted when a note is brought to Bolton. He tells them that he has another appointment and rushes off. As they say farewell to Bradley, Peter can't help but notice the sudden change in Bolton's behavior.
Later, in a nearby park, Bolton meets with Paine, one of the Kingpin's enforcers. His men have taken Mindy hostage and demand that Bolton gives them the final component for a new computer being built that keeps track of criminals worldwide. Paine threatens to kill Mindy if he doesn't comply, but promises to return her unharmed if Bradley does what they demand. That evening, Peter meets up with Mary Jane and Ned at an ESU dance. However, he earns Mary Jane's ire when he cuts in to talk to Ned instead of dancing with her. When Peter asks Leeds if he had a chance to resume his interview, but learns that Bolton has been occupied with something else. Peter spots Bradley and his wife nearby and that they appear to be troubled about something. However, Peter decides to worry about this later so he can get back in Mary Jane's good graces. Peter saves face by starting to dance with Mary Jane. However, Peter can't help but pay attention to the Boltons and notes that Bradley leaves abruptly and is troubled by something. Concerned for his well-being, Peter leaves Mary Jane to dance with Harry Osborn, much to her annoyance so he can investigate things further.
Peter follows Bolton to the football team locker room where he witnesses Bolton taking a bag out of one of the lockers. Bolton goes back to the football field where Paine and his armed minions are waiting for him with Mindy. When he turns over the money, Paine decides to keep Mindy in order to prevent Bradley from going to the police. Demanding that his daughter be set free, Bradley runs the hundred yards to try and rescue his daughter. Paine's men begin opening fire, but Bolton tries to dodge them. Although he has been shot, Bradley manages to catch up to Paine and wrest his daughter away from him. It's at this point that Peter arrives as Spider-Man and begins fighting off the gunmen and easily takes them down. With the danger over, Spider-Man checks on Bradley Bolton, who is dying from the gunshot wounds he suffered. Spider-Man assures him that his daughter is safe. Bolton then dies on the very goal line that eluded him so many years earlier.

Judge Jacques Elmer Leeds (September 10, 1927 - July 1, 2018)
After graduating from Frederick Douglass High School, he went to West Virginia State University for a short period, and from there he was drafted into the army and had basic training at West Point. His assignment to the Calvary Detachment taught him to ride and care for horses and to train other cadets assigned to that Detachment. He became an MP and was sent to Oakland. After his discharge from service, he entered Morgan State College.
His achievements after three years of study allowed him to apply and be accepted to the University of Maryland School of Law which he completed. He was one of three African Americans in his graduating class.
A true Renaissance man was as well a man of firsts. He was the first African American man to open a private practice law firm at Mondawmin Mall. He was appointed Deputy Director of the Southern Maryland Tri-County Community Action Committee, an organization devoted to the war on poverty and fair housing projects. He was appointed the Assistant City Solicitor and appointed Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland. His candidacy for State Senate (4th district of Baltimore) was withdrawn and he chose to support the late Senator Verda Welcome a civil rights leader and the first African American woman elected to the Maryland State Senate. His lasting legacy with the Maryland State Workers Compensation Commission as an African American presiding Judge was most rewarding. He got a chance to help those who deserved benefits.
He was married to his wife Martha (Polly) for 45 years, they had one son, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #kappaalphapsi

Field trips to the museum
read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/Njvi3U7 by alienspronkles Unfortunately Parker luck strikes again when a teacher has it out for the entire class and assigns a homework assignment that is basically impossible. The assignment is to answer questions that can be answered in a museum in New York, which should be relatively easy. Except this week the museum is closed, and the assignment is due in a few days. And what doesn’t help at all is the questions are absolutely ridiculous since the teacher wants everyone to fail. While Peter is at the Avengers Tower with Ned and MJ, Tony sees them stressing out. Peter explains the situation and Tony and a few Avengers essentially break into the museum so the three of them can get their homework done. 16 August 2021 🤔 Critical thinking
Critical thinking is a deliberate process of applying logic and reasoning to our thinking. Critical thinking means not accepting everything we read, see, and hear as an indisputable fact 🧐
Critical thinking is an important life skill, and an essential part of university studies.
❗️ A critical thinking model
A three-stage model will help you generate questions to understand, analyse, and evaluate something, such as an information source.
1️⃣ The description stage. You ask questions such as: What? Where? Why? and Who? These help you establish the background and context. These types of questions lead to descriptive answers.
To really develop your understanding and critically engage, we need to move beyond these types of questions.
2️⃣ This moves you into the analysis stage.
Here you will ask questions such as: How? Why? and What if? These help you to examine methods and processes, reasons and causes, and the alternative options.
Asking these questions helps you to break something into parts and consider the relationship between each part, and each part to the whole. This process will help you develop more analytical answers and deeper thinking.
3️⃣ The evaluation stage. You will ask ‘so what?’ and ‘what next?’ questions to make judgments and consider the relevance, implications, significance and value of something.
This model is not intended to be used in a strictly linear way, or as a prescriptive set of instructions. You may move back and forth between different segments 🔁
The model is intended to encourage a critically questioning approach, and can be applied to many learning scenarios at university, such as: interpreting assignment briefs, developing arguments, evaluating sources, analysing data or formulating your own questions to research an answer.

and they were roommates | p.p [1/5]
summary: Ned’s really good friend Y/N is being evicted from her apartment and is in desperate need of somewhere to stay. When Ned finds out about her dilemma, he proposes to Peter they let her move in, and despite his hesitance, he agrees. Y/N gladly accepts Ned’s offer but upon moving in realizes that her new roommate Peter Parker was hiding something. A Spider-man Roommate/College AU. (masterlist)
warnings: fem!reader, swearing, aged up! peter parker & co.
a/n: hi everyone! i’ve fallen into the hole of p.p x reader fics and am inspired to start a new blog dedicated to fic writing. i’m excited to share this short series with you all. please feel free to send in any one-shot requests. :)
Y/N was in trouble.
With a groan, you let your head drop with a hard thump on the wooden table.
It wasn’t the kind of trouble most people would expect from a college student like forgetting to turn in an assignment before a deadline or sleeping in, and missing class one too many times.
No--this was the kind of trouble that your mother warned you might run into when you decided you were tired of living in the cramped dorms of Colombia University and that you wanted to move into an overpriced and even more cramped apartment with a flakey roommate.
Aria, said flakey roommate, decided last month that she no longer was interested in living with Y/N you had spent the last few weeks desperately posting ads on Craigslist and the campus bulletin board for a new roommate.
Just as you’d imagined, most people that replied on Craigslist were creeps and the few from school that responded to your poster decided last minute that the apartment was not to their tastes.
Despite working many, long hours at the closest family-owned café Bugle Beans for the last three years of your college life, Y/N did not have the money to pay rent and utilities on her own.
Your landlord had tried to be understanding but he’d been kind for long enough.
“I warned you that we don’t give extensions, kid,” he’d sighed to you earlier that morning. “I’m giving you a week to move out or you’ll find all your things outside.”
“I’m fucked,” you sighed into your hands. “I’m so fucked.”
“Like fucked fucked?” A teasingly inquisitive voice suddenly came from your right, startling you out of your miserable stupor. “Or I’m going to possibly fail out of a class and hurt my GPA fucked fucked?”
You lifted your head and couldn’t stop the genuine, small smile that crossed your face. “More like I’m going to be homeless in a week fucked.”
Ned Leeds, your only confidant on this huge campus took a seat across from you, gaze switching from teasing to concerned. “Y/N, what the hell?”
You bit your lip, lowering your hand to rest on your crossed arms. “I still haven’t found anyone to replace Aria and I can’t afford rent. My landlord’s giving me a week to pay up or get out.”
Ned winced beside you, patting your arm comfortingly. “Yeah, the city landlords are ruthless, and trying to find a roommate that’s not a psycho is even worse. I’m sorry.”
You blew out another sigh. “Don’t I know--”
“Y/N!” You jumped at the sound of Ned’s suddenly excited voice. “I have an idea!”
“Do tell.”
“Peter’s ex-girlfriend MJ moved out from our loft a few months ago and we’d been meaning to find a third roommate for a while now. It hasn’t really been a priority but it’s about time we try to find someone.” Ned’s brown eyes were shining excitedly as he wiggled his eyebrows at you. “We need a roommate, you need a place. What do you say?”
For the first time in a month, you felt a small burst of hope in bloom in your chest.
“Ned, you’re serious?”
“As a heart attack, kid.”
“Ned Leeds,” you almost sobbed, wrapping your arms around his neck. “I owe you all the free coffee and cookies in the world.”
Ned snickered, rubbing your back softly. “I’d have to talk to Peter but I’m sure he won’t mind.”
You pulled away and gave him a watery grin. “Let me know as soon as you can, please.”
“I’ve got you, friend,” he winked, getting up from the spot next to you. “I’ll text you tonight. You better start packing.”
___________________________________________________________________
“I just don’t think it’s wise right now, Ned.”
Peter Parker repeated this to his best friend for what seemed like the hundredth time that evening.
“Peter, she’s the best, I promise--”
“I’m sure she’s lovely,” the brown-haired young man interrupted, putting down his highlighter and looking away from his notes. “It’s just--with the whole Spider-man thing I don’t think it’s a good idea to have someone new here, man.”
At Ned’s crestfallen expression, he felt a sliver of guilt creep up.
It wasn’t necessarily that he had something against Y/N. He’d met her briefly a few times and Ned always spoke highly of her since they’d been randomly partnered for a project their freshman year.
“Pete,” Ned’s voice was desperate. “She got evicted from her apartment and has a week to come up with almost two grand or find somewhere to live. She doesn’t have many friends in the city. She needs us.”
Peter swallowed hard before releasing a sign. He couldn’t argue with Ned about that and his own conscience wouldn’t let him rest if he knew that someone was potentially going to be left homeless.
But he was hesitant.
He’d gotten used to not having to hide to anyone his superhero persona and the thought of having to be careful around someone new in his own home was not appealing to him.
When MJ moved out, he and Ned had decided they would eventually find a new roommate but there was no rush. Mr. Stark had kindly left a nice fund for Peter that helped them out with rent for a while and they’d fallen into a nice routine just the two of them with MJ occasionally coming over for movie night.
He and MJ were still good friends, having parted on good terms, so she was still around often.
He supposed though that they’d just be crossing the bridge he’d been much too comfortable to cross a lot sooner than he wanted.
Clearing his throat Peter gave Ned a nod. “Let her know the empty room’s hers if she wants it.”
Ned let out a breath of relief, giving Peter a grin. “You’re the best Pete. I promise I’ll help with covering for you if it comes down to it.”
Peter shook his head with a smile of his own, punching Ned lightly in the arm. “I’m counting on it, Ned. It’ll be like old times.”
“It’s been a while since I’ve cooked up a good story, eh?” Ned snickered as he remembered the various times he’d have to come up with excuses for Peter’s absences, suspicious behavior, and abnormal disappearances. He reached for his phone immediately opening up his messages. “I can’t wait to tell, Y/N.”
“Let her know I’d be happy to help her with moving in.” Peter offered quietly, turning back to his notes.
“Will do. “ Ned responded distractedly, typing away rapidly on his iPhone.
Peter raised a hand to his chin, rubbing it in thought. He didn’t like to call it his tingle, but he’d be lying if he said it wasn’t telling him that this might just be a bad idea.

Home - Peter Parker
Peter Parker x Reader
Summary : You’re left to do an English assignment that catches you off guard, but Peter may or may not have been your inspiration.
Warnings: Cussing (let me know if you find any, though!)
Words: 3.2 k
What is home? The message was sprawled across the board as your English teacher, Mr. Gilloway stared at the class, eyebrows scrunched up and his hooked nose crinkled. The soft light bounced off of his bald head.
“Since you all like to complain about wanting to go home, you might as well write down what is home. You can either write it as a descriptive piece, because I’d live to know why you want to go so badly,” he said sarcastically, “Or whatever comes to mind. It’s due in a month, so Flash, you better not complain about not having completed your work. You will also have to present in front of the class just so I can hear your wonderful voices grace my god-awful days. Class dismissed.”
You had no idea as to what is home to you, as you’ve never felt at home wherever you go. It seemed as though you never stuck to one place. A million thoughts ran through your mind thinking of a solution as to how you were going to come up with an answer, when you meet up with your best friends, Ned Leeds and Peter Parker near the school’s overcrowded parking lot.
“Hey, Y/N! Are you ok? You look a bit.. distracted.” Ned stated, his voice laced with concern. Ned always looked out for you, right after Peter. The duo had welcomed you into their “super secret that no other soul should ever be told cult” with open arms, when you had first moved to Queens. Overtime, the three of you were inseparable, the school knowing you as the three who would be sitting in the quiet, snug corner of the cafeteria fighting over who was the actual hero in Star Wars.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine, just thrown ‘off the rails’, if that’s even a saying,” You created air quotes to try to emphasize it, “it’s just Mr. Gilloway being a pain in the ass with his ‘deep and meaningful projects’ that are supposed to bring us to a realization of some unknown idea to our ‘uneducated minds’, whatever he means.” The Polynesian boy smiled, his pudgy cheeks showing off the rosiness of his almond skin tone.
“Peter and I both told you not to take AP English and look at where it got you, huh,” he taunted, as you looked to see both of them give their signature ‘I told you so’ faces, with their eyebrows raised and an amused smile, “just goes to show that we’re always right.”
With a roll of your eyes, you moved on to go home,
“Yeah, yeah, thanks mom. I’m gonna head out now. See you in chem tomorrow.” Before you left to catch the subway, Peter grabbed your wrist and said,
“Wanna come over? May misses you and we’d love to have you for the evening.”
You quickly nodded in affirmation and sent your mom a text to let her know about your whereabouts. The ride to his place was the same as always, sharing the headphones to listen to AC/DC, you complaining about Flash being your lab partner, and Peter sharing the previous night’s events during his patrol. Everything felt right at the moment, as if he was your safety blanket. Peter had the ability to radiate this sense of comfort even if you were across the room from him.
The subway finally stopped at your final destination, and you soon found yourself in the small, cozy apartment. It was the same as always, the soft grey throw blanket draped over the back of the worn out brown couch, and the smell of charred bread in the air. It was simple, just like the family. You sent a simple wave to Peter’s Aunt May and followed Peter to his room to start on your Chemistry homework.
Hours later, there were papers filled with math calculations and Chemistry formulas scattering the small room, as Peter was munching on some cheese-flavored potato chips.
“Did you get seventeen moles of copper nitrate for number 8?” Peter inquired, causing you to let out a groan.
“It’s seventeen? I got twenty-nine. Pete, I’m a hopeless teenager who doesn’t understand a single thing about this right now,” You heard a chuckle across from you and looked up, only to find Peter staring at you, something was different about his expression, but you still threw you eraser at him. Peter simply replied,
“Instead of complaining, you could have just asked. Lemme see what’s wrong… Ah,” he went on to explain the confusing lesson, however everything he said became sets of useless words as you were focusing on what was happening to you. Your entire body filled with warmth, while your heart was beating feverishly, like you’d just ran a marathon. The constant feeling of elevation in your stomach was overbearing, it felt like the spark on a tungsten before it reached the gunpowder for fireworks. It was different to what authors wrote in their stories, it was so much more than what you’d imagine, but it didn’t feel like love. The constant overcame your mind until you heard Peter call your name,
“Y/N, Y/N, are you still alive? May’s calling us for dinner, it’s Thai Food Thursday.” For the rest of the night, you could feel yourself being distant and distracted from the conversation, all thanks to Peter.
A week later, you still hadn’t made any progress on your English paper, which made you dread English class even more than you had before. Your past made it harder to even get an understanding of what home even was when all you could think of was your father.
Your father was always distant from you and your mother, acting like a guest at a bed and breakfast where he was only there for the night. Some weeks, he’d have to leave for a business trip, not coming back for a few weeks, or at least you thought that until you found him at a city nearby while being on a class field trip the fifth grade. He was with a familiar woman who you’d known growing up, Aunt Lydia, your mother’s younger sister. It turned out that your father had become infatuated with her in the duration of his first marriage, eventually starting a new family with Aunt Lydia and being much happier with her. The news spread like wildfire in a forest, eventually getting to your mother last. It broke you to know that your father would rather spend his days with some other kids than with you, another woman instead of your mother. After a short 2 weeks, the two of you had packed your bags and moved to Queens to forget the past, making it seem as if everything you knew from before was now supposed to be thrown out of a window. The project was no use when now all you could think of was a cold space where tension was intermingled in the air, and pain stained into the deepest threads of the couch pillows when you thought of home.
The library was almost completely empty, which was usual considering that the people of New York had better things to do than spend their time at the library, except for you, Peter, and now Ned. It was your annual reader’s binge night, where you’d all spend the afternoon reading a book from start to end, and then go out for a sub at the small, family-owned deli from around the corner. It was a tradition, and allowed you to bask in each other’s presence without the hassle of having to talk. The sounds of iced coffee being sipped and the constant whoosh of pages could be heard throughout the day. After the author had infuriated you enough with their cliche-filled sci-fi novel, you looked up to break the silence, until the sight of the room stopped you. More specifically, Peter. The sunlight shining in through the gigantic windows had illuminated the small features of his fair, pale face, like the freckles that were sprinkled all over his nose and cheeks just as the course sugar on sugar cookies. His chestnut brown hair became an array of colors as the copper undertones shining through, as he was concentrating on the book before him. Peter’s state of peace made you feel safe, as if nothing bad was going to happen to you. The time flew by as if it were like seconds as you continued to take in his image, until you felt a twinge on the side of your head, looking to your side to find a plastic straw on the ground.
“Y/N, you can stare at Peter after finishing the book. Now hurry up or else Mr. Delmar’s is gonna close up shop before we even finish!” Ned exclaimed as he smirked at your actions. Peter softly chuckled as you flipped off Ned, before all three of you went back to the book. While you mindlessly flipped pages, all that you could ponder was the same weird feeling that you felt at Peter’s house. It was almost as if you belonged there, as if you weren’t an outcast who had came out of nowhere. There was something about the feelings you had that you couldn’t comprehend completely, but it was becoming more and more prominent to you each day. Whatever the universe is trying to tell me, it sure is fucking me over, you thought, just as you saw your best friends close their books. Peter saw your expression, it was evident that you were deep in thought, and asked,
“You okay, Y/N?” To which you simply replied in the most New York way possible,
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wanna go grabba sub now?”
You picked up the group’s sandwiches and headed over when you heard Ned and Peter talking about you,
“I don’t know, Ned, Y/N is hard to be around when she can’t even take a hint,” You stopped dead in your tracks, like gravity was pulling you down and you weren’t able to move your feet. It felt like the day at the school field trip, everything you once knew was fabricated and far from what you thought your friendship was.
“Peter, you’re going to have to tell her someday. It’s hurting you and it's probably gonna hurt her too in the future,” you took your chance and walked in before any more damage could be done to your friendship.
“Whatcha talkin’ about?” You said as you sat down. The two shook their heads, muttering words that you couldn’t make out, and started a new conversation. Throughout the rest of the day, you couldn’t help but wonder about what you’d done wrong, guilt and fear flowing through your veins as if your blood had been replaced with it.
You invited Peter over the next day for dinner to repay him for when you ate at his house last time, and in hopes to try to mend whatever tension Peter was feeling. The dingy apartment that you’d been living in for the past 5 years was usually dull and quiet, your mom still hadn’t comprehended how her sister could betray her and you were left trying to feel the same way as she did when you were younger, when your family wasn’t broken. While eating the burnt ends of your chicken parm, the English project was still running on your mind. Of course Peter knew you were thinking about it, so naturally, he had to ask how the English assignment was coming along.
“I can’t connect with anyone or anything that relates to my home. I am genuinely convinced that literally everyone hates me, and soon I’ll be living alone with my three cats in a studio apartment!” You complained as your arms flew up in exaggeration. Peter, on the other hand, seemed frustrated, with his eyes in annoyance and his knuckles turning white from clenching them so hard. Peter cried,
“Well, maybe if you would just open up and try to let more people into your life, then you wouldn’t be here right now!” At this point, the tension you tried to get rid of was now a thick fog that couldn’t be seen through.
“That’s impossible, Peter! You, out of all people, know it’s hard for me to get close with someone, when practically no one finds me bearable,” you looked at him with anger, “not even you.” Peter was taken aback,
“How did you hear that?”
“So it was true,” you scoffed as you felt the wet trail of plump tears run down your cheeks, “gee, thanks a lot, Pete.” He stood up, intimidating you, as he boomed,
“Well, yeah, it is. All you ever do is push away anyone whoever tries to get close to you. You’ve built this thick barrier around everyone and it stupid. Grow up and stop acting like a four year-old, it's annoying,” and immediately walked out the tiny apartment’s door.
You sunk down in your chair, the tears flowing faster and add onto the pain-ridden apartment. There goes someone else I love, you pondered, I love you, Peter, more than I’ve loved anyone else.
Your English assignment was now due in a week and a half's worth of time and you’d barely had an outline or a single idea as to what you wanted to write about. For multiple nights, you would just sit in front of your grey, busted laptop and stare at the blank document until you’d figured it was now time to sleep. Multiple sentences that were once on the document soon disappeared by the click of a button immediately after.
As sleep-deprived teenagers rushed to leave the room, you went up to Mr. Gilloway, intimidated by the hunch on his back that formed every time he was scrolling down the New York Times about another political outburst from the Senator. It wasn’t that Mr. Gilloway was bad in person, it was just that he tended to be very unfiltered. All it took was one glance from him and you knew that you were going to take in the bitter and harshful words about not working on the assignment. But you took the leap anyway, and took all the courage you had in you to ask,
“Mr. Gilloway, I don’t know what to write for the assignment. I keep thinking about it, but nothing is coming to mind and I really have no clue as to what home is.” Squeezing you eyes, you braced for the string of words that were meaningless to him.
“Well, what was it like for you to be at home? Anyone particular who comes to mind? Or perhaps a memory that just replays over and over in your head? Remember, Y/N that home is not a definitive object, you can make it anything you want. It could be the simplest idea, or something over the top, but that is what it means to you. I have full trust in you to go with your guts and write wha’ is home to you,” Mr. Gilloway gently replied. His response was out of character compared to who he really was. It was unrecognizable, sympathy and gentleness was the last thing that would come across anyone’s mind when they thought of Mr. Gilloway. Unable to form words, you nodded your head, only to hear, “Now go, I need to catch up on what our jackass of a Senator we have right now.”
It wasn’t until you got onto your laptop once again when you knew what to write about. You finally had an idea.
It was finally the day of the presentation and your nerves got the best of you. The past week was more muted, with evenings spent writing the English assignment, and the daytime spent studying in the library in hopes to avoid Peter. It was also the most emotionally draining week, knowing you couldn’t just go up and tell him how you really felt about him.
Y/N, it’s your turn. And Flash, puh-LEASE keep the flirting for someplace else, my classroom is not a ‘Singles Mingle’,” Mr. Gilloway said. The voice at the back of your head kept telling you don’t mess up, don’t mess up, don’t mess up. The anxiety of sharing something so intimate with a group of bored teenagers was nerve wracking, so much so that your hands were quivering.
“Home is an abstract idea, and to most people, it is their place to go to sleep, eat, and repeat. In my entire life, I'd never felt like I was at home until just recently when I came to know how I know I am at home. Home is a blend of emotions, where there are multiple feelings every time you’re there, A sense of belonging, where no matter how different, broken, or mismanaged a person is, they still know that the very spot will always let them be themselves. Home is where a person feels comfort and safety, where they know that they will be supported and consoled through all the times you’ve been through. A sense of adoration that lingers in the air, making a person feel loved for who they are. The idea that a person knows who they are when they’re at this place, or with this person, makes us realize that this very place is our home. My home is with someone who I’ve known for a while, and even a glance into their brown eyes makes me feel complete. As they always say, home is where the heart lies.”
You looked around the room to see blank stares and an unusual smile from Mr. Gilloway, but it was relieving to feel the overbearing weight of not knowing yourself being lifted off your shoulders.
Once class had ended, you heard your name being called by none other than Peter.
“Was your speech about me?” Peter had a look of desperation and hope, “I feel like home to you?” How’d he listen? You thought, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“I asked Mr. Gilloway,” Peter had read your mind, “Y/N, I only said I couldn’t bear you because I’m so deeply in love with you, but you never see that. It’s kind of hard to be friendzoned all the time, y’know?”
The moment you had awaited all along finally came in the least expected way, nor was it how everyone else described it to be. There were no fireworks in the background but instead, it was just as if the world had stopped around you.
“I love you too, Peter,” you whispered.
“So is it true?” With a simple nod and a small smile, you said,
“Yeah, it is about you, Peter.” A soft smile creeps up his face as he pulls you into his arms. It felt right, as if your body was perfectly molded to fit into his embrace. You decided to take the risk and pulled away, placing your hands over his pillowy cheeks, and pulled him towards you. You placed your lips on his, they were soft and smooth, with a hint of vanilla from the chapstick you made him use after seeing how rough they were a few months back. Peter kissed back, trying to empty all the love and adoration he had kept inside of him.
You couldn’t tell what the future held for you two, but you made a vow, right then and there that you would protect him with your entire heart, help him after his patrol’s and night, and most importantly, keep him in your heart for the rest of your life.
This was your home, right here with Peter.
A/N: Hi! I hope you liked this piece, I’ve had a a writer’s block for almost 2 years now, so to write this was a bit of a struggle, but it’s all good! Feel free to send over any requests or criticism. I also have to give an honorary mention to @wazzupmrstark! Her INCREDIBLE works gave me a bit of a push and inspo to get back to writing, so thank you so so much Kaili! (i’ll stop annoying you guys, byee :) )

Happy Belated Betrothal

Clint and Laura are finally having a wedding! Everyone returns their RSVPs in record time- that may be because only close family was invited, or maybe because this was a long time coming. Unfortunately for one genius and his prodigy, misunderstanding who got an invitation requires quick thinking on their part when they're asked for a date's name.
** I bring this up in the fic, but Civil War happened on a much smaller scale, Steve, Wanda, Pietro, and Clint are the only 2 people who didn't sign the accords at the end of the day, but there was no huge fight- just disagreements. Bucky was sent to Wakanda and Shuri and Tony helped him with his arm and brain. Once he returned Sam was assigned to help him with recovery. (Also, Clint and Pietro are alive and unofficially part of the Barton family because I said so) **

‘Lucy Bronze wants to leave a legacy for younger girls’
Former team-mates and coaches of Lucy Bronze, the England star, discuss the drive that has led her to the semi-final - July 1 2019
Gemma Bonner Manchester City and England defender When Lucy hammered that brilliant goal against Norway, two things came into my head. Firstly, that England were going through to the World Cup semi-finals, but also I thought of the days we spent together at university and, more precisely, Goals in Leeds.
Lucy was at Everton then and worked while living at university and playing football. She was very independent and, as much as her family is super supportive of her, Lucy always said, “I will go out and get a job and support myself.”
She worked in Domino’s Pizza and also worked for a bit behind the bar at Goals, the five-a-side centre.
We used to spend a lot of time there practising when we should have been studying. There would just be the two of us and we would just have a kickabout, whacking the ball from one half to the other between us. After the Norway game, I messaged her about those days and how far she has come to now being on the brink of a World Cup final with England.
My first memory of Lucy was with England under-17s. Jordan Nobbs mentioned on the BBC the other day that, while Lucy wore a headband, she was the only girl who would play with her hair down. She moved to America for a season on a scholarship with the University of North Carolina and it was after that I really came to know her.
We were on the same sports performance course at university and also did our strength training there through England because it was regionally based. It was around this time that she started to pick up knee injuries. We were with England under-19s when she suffered a serious injury and, for a long time, she was on crutches. I would pick her up every morning, we would do weights, go to lectures and then I would drop her off at home.
There was very limited support for Lucy, but how she approached that period says everything about her. She would be in the gym, on her crutches, strengthening her upper body because she couldn’t work on her lower body.
If I had to describe Lucy in three words, they would be: competitive, ambitious, determined. I had to work so hard, and it would take me so long to do things, but Lucy could do an assignment overnight, hand it in on time the next day and still get a first. When it came to our dissertations in our final year, she decided to do hers around knee injuries. It was a point where she was frustrated because she could see everyone in her age group progressing.
That dissertation was her way of finding out as much as she could about knee injuries, understanding things and relating it back to herself and her performance. Her knee would swell up at that time and I remember her coming in one day and she was like, “I’ve just read in a journal that pineapple can help reduce swelling.”
For the next month she was obsessed with eating pineapple. But that shows you what Lucy is like — any little thing she thought she could do to help her back on the pitch she would do it.
I went to watch her play for Everton in a game at Birmingham away when she was coming back from an issue. Her knee just locked up. The next thing we were in the ambulance going to Birmingham hospital and, at that time, it felt like a big setback.
But she never doubted herself. We both joined Liverpool around the same time in November 2012, I moved from Chelsea and Lucy from Everton, and we were going to go full-time the following season. That was a pull for her in terms of getting looked after from a medical point of view.
At the end of that season, we both went to the European Championship with England in Sweden and we were rooming. Just a few years earlier, all we wanted to do was get in the same squad as Kelly Smith.
That was never really going to be enough for Lucy, though, and when she puts her mind to something nothing will stop her from doing it. Just after that we did an interview about breaking through into the senior squad for the first time and making our debuts.
I will always remember what Lucy said. All she talked about was being successful with England and, at the time, nobody spoke like that. You would do it now, but five years ago it was different.
Due to injury, she has lost time in her career and so she wants to maximise everything now and be as successful as she can. You could see that as she moved from Liverpool to Manchester City, had a great few years there, and then on to Lyons. She loves a challenge and doesn’t like being comfortable anywhere.
When she went to Lyons she knew she could compete with everyone physically, but that she could improve technically and tactically. Her attitude before that was: “I will do what I am good at, let everyone else ping the 30-yard balls and score the world-class goals.”
At City, she improved massively and has gone to a team and won back-to-back Champions Leagues and is constantly challenging herself to improve. Her instinct will be to bat all the attention away and promote the team. She can be quite shy like that. Lucy wants what is best for the women’s game and will push for things even though she might not benefit from them. She wants to leave a legacy for those girls who will come next.
But she knows what she wants and will push to get it. Right now, that will be a place in the World Cup final and then the trophy itself. Matt Beard Head coach of West Ham United Women, signed Bronze for Liverpool in November 2012 Lucy was outstanding when she signed. At the start of the next season, we lost the centre back Whitney Engen, who had to go back to America with it being the start of a World Cup cycle. Mark Sampson, the England head coach from 2013-2017, had said he was going to play Lucy at centre back and I had a chat with her about her playing there as well.
In the first half of that season, she played there and we were drawing a lot of games. It was clear that she was a massive loss to us when not playing full back and so I reverted Lucy to that role. Mark did the same with England.
It was interesting when Phil Neville was playing her in midfield. I could understand why he was doing it, but Lucy’s strength is at full back, exploiting space, giving and going. Being a match-winner. You lose her athleticism and the player who strikes fear into an opponent when you don’t play her at full back.
The goal she created against Norway is trademark Lucy Bronze. She knocks it past the defender, gets there and if you watch her run she gets low when she covers the ground. Generally, fast players are quick over distance or over half a yard. She is quick over both distances.
We could not replace her at Liverpool when we lost her and Manchester City have not replaced her either. She is the type of player that if you take her out of your team, you are not going to replace her. Phil is right when he says she is the best right back in the world and she’s up there as one of the best players in the world too.
Her passing range and decision-making has improved and that is what happens when you train and play with the best players. Facing America, with their star winger Megan Rapinoe on the left, it should be a comfortable game for Lucy.
Mick Mulhern Sunderland Ladies manager when Lucy Bronze joined aged 11 and is now head coach of Hebburn She must have been about ten or 11 when she came into our centre of excellence programme. You noticed her straight away as she was wearing glasses, and then when she went on the pitch she stood out as she was so strong, composed, athletic, and good on the ball.
At that younger age group the girls can still play with boys and she was considerably better than the boys of the same age, much to the frustration of their parents. She was very quiet, and it wasn’t until she moved up to the seniors as a 14-year-old that she came out of her shell.
I’m actually not surprised she has gone so far — she always rose to the challenge. The key match for me when I realised that was early on in her senior career.
We had just lost Jill Scott to Everton, and Lucy was 14 when we played them and marked Jill, who was in the England set-up, and matched her stride for stride. That’s when I knew she had a big future.
Seven of the Lionesses came through that set-up at Sunderland — as well as Lucy and Jill, there was Steph Houghton, Carly Telford, Beth Mead, Lucy Staniforth and Demi Stokes, and Jordan Nobbs would have been there too if she hadn’t been injured.
The difference between those girls and the ones who didn’t make it is that they had something extra in their character, the same mental strength, and Lucy had that in abundance.
Like the other players, she has also had good support from her family behind her.

Petvengers (Or, how Peter tricks NY heroes into pet adoption)
Again, this is also on Ao3, but I want to have duplicates, just in case.
here is the link if you want to read it on Ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/19139326/chapters/45486811
This is part of a series. This is bordering on crack, seriously. It is a lot of fun to write though. I hope you will enjoy it.
Peter has decided that New York's heroes should all have (at least one) pet. Because pets are awesome. Now he just has to convince them of it.
Here a little bit to catch you up:
As with all the other fics in the series, Civil War got resolved peacefully (and Ross is out of office), and Infinity War and Endgame did not and will not happen. This fanfiction series universe is a happy place. Okay? Good.
Tony and Pepper share custody over Peter with May. Peter occasionally calls Tony Dad (he might also at one point refer to Pepper as Mom, but Aunt May will always be Aunt May, without the title diminishing the magnitude of love he feels for her)
Peter has a male Pitbull named Hope, a shelter rescue dog who was about to be euthanized.
Tony has spilled the beans on live TV about Peter being heir to Stark Industries.
Peter is acquainted with some of NYPD's detectives and the captain.
Tony, being the overprotective helicopter parent he is, has used his, so far limited, access to nano-technology to make a watch for Peter that tracks pretty much everything and can't be taken off by anyone other than Tony (or, in the event of Tony's demise, Pepper, May, Happy, or Rhodey) – See part 1 and 2 of the series for reference.
Tony and Pepper still own and live in the Tower, and the Avengers all have rooms (floors) there as well. Due to the events of the second story in the series (the wounds we see and the scars we don't) May and Peter have also taken up residence in the tower (more specifically on Tony and Peppers floor, where they have their own living spaces). Though right now this arrangement is temporary and the two might move back into their house in Queens eventually.
Since I ignore Infinity War and Endgame, neither Tony nor Peter have nano-tech-suits. (Though they might at some point)
Also, the identities of other vigilantes are known to the Avengers (part of the fixed Accords thing)
Last but never least, my very favorite part of this series, Peter swears in food names. Shit = Skittles, Damn = Donuts, Hell = Hot Dogs, Fuck = French Fries or Fruit Loops, any kind of name calling, i.e. Bitch, Ass, Fuckface, etc = Licorice
Chapter 1
Steve
Edward 'Ned' Leeds loved his best friend. He truly, absolutely, did. Peter was his brother from another mother.
However, that didn't change the fact that sometimes, Peter could be a teeny, tiny, little bit ridiculous.
Because who else would ever get the idea of tricking earths mightiest heroes into each adopting a shelter animal.
-
MyfriendscallmeMJ: Peter, you can't lie to save your life. How do you plan on tricking anyone, much less the Avengers, into taking a pet home? Especially since they already have you.
DefinitelynotSpiderman: Okay, first, rude. I can totally lie when I want to. In fact, I'm a great liar. Like,... Just look at my chatname! If that doesn't scream 'Master of deception', nothing does.
Guyinthechair: Ô_o...
MyfriendscallmeMJ: Ô_o...
DefinitelynotSpiderman: And second, I have a fool proof plan.
Guyinthechair: Ô_o...
MyfriendscallmeMJ: Ô_o...
DefinitelynotSpiderman: Parts of a fool proof plan... like... 46% of a plan,... that is not at all fool proof... but we can totally pull it off!
Guyinthechair: Yeah, somehow I do not feel confident about this. At all.
MyfriendscallmeMJ: What do you mean 'we'?
-
And so it was that Ned found himself, armed with his trusty camcorder, waiting in front of 'A heart has four paws' shelter for Peter, on a sunny Saturday morning. Really, all Peter had said was to meet him there at exactly 9:30am, and to be ready to film what would become 'a promotional video'.
Ned had absolutely no idea what Peter had planned, but it was either going to be absolutely epic, or completely embarrassing.
A quick look at his phone revealed the time to be 9:27, which left his best friend three minutes before Ned was allowed to officially change Peter's chatname into 'ThetardySpider'. He was already typing in his friends password into the first of many social media platforms, when (happy) barking reached his ears. He looked up to see Hope and Peter racing each other to reach him.
"Not late!"
Peter wheezed out as soon as he came to a stop in front of Ned.
"I totally did not forget to ask Friday to wake me up early today and was absolutely not just woken up 35 minutes ago by Hope licking my face off. Completely on time, that's me. Mr. Punctuality."
He doubled over immediately after, bracing his hands on his knees and trying to catch his breath.
Ned checked his phone. 9:29. Donuts! Oh well, knowing his best friend, an opportunity for assigning punishing nicknames would present itself once again. So he bent down to give Hope some love, while Peter was finally regaining his lost oxygen.
"Okay! We all set? You got your camera, Ned?"
He held it up for Peter to see.
"What am I even supposed to film with it? And shouldn't you have brought at least one of the people you intend to con into pet acquisition with you, oh great master of deception?"
"Please, you make me sound like a criminal. I'm not going to 'con' anyone, just persuade them to do something I want by slightly bending the truth."
Ned gave him a deadpan look.
"Pete, that is the textbook definition of conning someone."
But the brunette waved him off, digging his phone out of his pants.
"Semantics. Now, Steve left for his morning jog at 5, the freak, and since it's Saturday and there is no mission to prepare for, he wanted to make it a full run 'round."
Ned's yaw dropped.
"Are you telling me Captain America is jogging through all of New York?"
Peter nodded distractedly while typing something into his phone.
"And he got up a 5 am to do it. 5 am, Ned! Sleep-hating-freak. Not even Sam and Bucky joined him for something this crazy. I mean, 5 am, Ned!"
"You know you have gotten up earlier than that. Actually, you have stayed up later than that."
His exclamation was waved away again.
"That was for Spiderman, and lab time with Tony,... and cartoons. You know, important stuff. Not to go jogging!"
Peter shuddered for effect.
"Anyway, according to his usual running speed, traffic, roadblocks, calculated detours and approximate number of stops he had to make to hydrate or take a selfie with a fan, he should be in this general area by now."
Apparently having finished with his first task on the phone, Peter then scrolled through his contacts and hit the call button for one 'Star spangled man with a plan'. He didn't have to wait long for Steve to accept the call.
"Hey Pete, what-"
"STEVE! IT'S AN EMERGENCY! COME TO LEE AVENUE 14! HURRY!" And then Peter promptly hung up.
Ned stared at him open mouthed for three long seconds, then he beamed and proudly patted his friend on the shoulder.
"You just lied to Captain America without stuttering, over-explaining yourself, or dissolving into a puddle of anxiety! Good for you!"
Peter's grin couldn't possibly be wider.
"Thanks! For a moment there I thought I was going to choke, but then I pulled through! Tasha practiced with me for two hours last night."
"The Black Widow knows about your plans?"
Peter nodded.
"Tasha knows everything."
"Does she know about the-"
"Yeah."
"And about the time when-"
"Yeah."
"And what about-"
"She knows that, too."
Ned let out a reverent "Whooow."
Then he thought of something else.
"What if the Captain calls the other Avengers for backup, thinking you are in trouble?"
"I told Karen to inform Friday to ignore any assemble requests made by Steve, right after my phone call with him."
"So that's what you were typing on your phone earlier."
Peter nodded, then suddenly looked down the street in front of them, Hope simultaneously lifted his head from where it had been resting on his paws.
"Get your camera ready, Cap is closing in."
Ned did just that, and forever captured on film as one (very sweaty) Steve Rogers ran full speed to the two of them.
"Peter!"
He didn't take long to reach the two teens, even with an excited Hope jumping up and around him to greet the super soldier.
"What happened? Are you hurt? Are you two okay? Is there a new villain? What's the situation? I called for backup, the others should be here shortly."
Knowing they would not, Peter grabbed for Hope to hold the enthusiastic Pitbull at bay, and waited for Steve to finish with his visual assessment of any possibly sustained injuries. Then he grinned.
"Quick, the one needing your help is inside!"
He grabbed the blonde's arm and unceremoniously pulled him through the shelter doors, a still filming Ned and tail wagging Hope right behind them.
_
Andrew was just getting some of the forms for new owners in order, when the automatic doors of the entrance opened with a ding, causing him to abandon his task for later.
He did a double take when non other than Captain America, Steve Rogers, in civilian (and kinda sweat stained) clothes was dragged in by a familiar looking teenager. Followed by another teenager holding a camcorder fixed on the american icon, and a familiar looking Pitbull.
Since his brain was obviously not equipped to sort through everything at once, he focused on the issue that was the easiest to resolve.
"Hey! You are that kid that was here with Tony Stark, right?"
Said kid grinned and proceeded to drag Captain freaking America to the front desk.
"Yes! I remember you too! I'm Peter, by the way. I see you did some remodeling with the place."
Andrew smiled and shook the teen's hand.
"Hi Peter, I'm Andrew. And yes, thanks to Mr. Stark's generous donation, we were able to expand quite a bit. Even got some space out back, for the bigger ones to run a little."
"That's great!"
"You aren't here to return your dog, are you?"
"Never! Hope is ohana, and ohana means family."
"Good, good. Say, quick question, kid. Is that man with you Steve Rogers, aka Captain America?"
"He is."
"Peter."
The authoritative voice of the living american legend, pulled Peter and Andrew out of their little conversation, and brought their full attention on him. Steve, for his part, after having scanned the buildings lobby for possible threats, or other dangerous things, and valiantly ignoring the camera Peter's friend kept trained on him the whole time, took a deep breath.
Calm, be calm.
"Peter, why am I here?"
The teen grinned brightly.
"Rescue mission."
Calm, remain calm.
"And who, exactly, needs to be rescued?"
The grin got brighter.
"Well, whoever you decide on taking home with you. Though I've always kinda pegged you for a dog person, so maybe we should start with them."
Calm, calm, calm, you fought in wars, soldier. Keep calm.
"Son, I'm not getting a dog."
The kid shrugged.
"Okay, the cats here are great too! Or maybe you want a bird? Some of these have a pretty long lifespan, you know? We can also look at the smaller animals. They have ferrets, and chinchillas, and rabbits-"
You fought aliens, and an insane robot, your boyfriend was brainwashed into trying to kill you and one of your best friends is Tony Stark! If you can live through all that, you can get through this insanity too.
"-though I really think you should get a dog. It just fits, you know?"
Calm, calm.
"Peter, I am not getting a dog!"
-
"So, this is Colonel. He is a mixed breed of unknown origins, though the shelter worker said that there is definitely some German Shepard in there."
Steve was met with the non blinking eyes of his fellow Avengers and friends, and their assorted families, who were for once all in attendance in the tower's common floor living room.
The Barton kids (minus Nathaniel, who was busy spreading mashed potatoes everywhere that wasn't his mouth, and especially his father at the moment) and Peter were playing with the two dogs.
Then Clint (who really didn't look at all intimidating with a toddler on his lap and mashed potatoes all over his face) was staring imploringly at his wife, Laura skillfully ignored her husband, Natasha went over to Peter to congratulate him on his successful manipulation of another human being, Sam groaned about not scooping up any poop, Bucky joined the kids and dogs on the floor, Pepper shook her head, May refilled both her, Laura's and Pepper's wine glasses, Bruce hid a smile in his book, and Tony almost fell off the couch, he was laughing so hard.
"Your dog has a higher military rank than you!"
