Xisuma (he/void): Voidwalker prince. Knows he's immortal. One of the oldest immortals

Grian (he/parrot/chirp/they): Parrot hybrid, Head/First Watcher. Minor god of chaos. Has lived a thousand lives. Treats YHS as a joke because why not?

Mumbo (he/him): Half Watcher, minor blood god. Does not know he's a god. Eats redstone for fun, scares his friends because of it.

Scar (he/it/vex): Vexling elf (Vex with allay magic). Does not know he's a god. Was born in Riverdale, kidnapped at a young age.

Pearl (she/her): Half-Watcher/moth hybrid. Also knows she's a god, actually likes the Watchers.

Impulse (he/they/yellow): Demon. Very much knows he's immortal, wishing that he isn't because he doesn't want to watch his brothers die. One of the oldest hermits

To those who don't know – I'm currently writing a Last Life musical (first song here!). This is an excerpt from Song 2 (Corners of the World), which establishes the world, some alliances, and Martyn's worldview, as he's the central figure of this. Some lyrics will be below.

As said, more audition info will be coming later this week (I just need to iron a few things out in terms of describing the atmosphere for the soloist's songs), along with the audition form. In the meantime, here's an excerpt of Song 2 (up to the first half of the first chorus), played back on NotePerformer. This song is mainly sung by Martyn – Lizzie, Bdubs, Etho, Joel, Scott and Pearl do show up later, but in the parts you hear they haven't yet.

This is the second main atmosphere I'm going for for songs – more dramatic, important, server-wide or Watcher-related events will be more in the style of Middle of Nowhere (the first, posted, song), but while exploring and delving into the players' lives this will be more prevalent (the exceptions to this are some members of Team BEST, mainly Tango but to some extent Bdubs, whose songs can be more jazzy). I headcanon the state of development of the Last Life world as late medieval, so with the music here (especially the intro) I've tried to evoke a similar atmosphere to the background soundtrack of a typical 'peasant' village.

As said, I don't have the full lyrics yet but here's verse 2 and the chorus (the second half which isn't included in the extract because it's not orchestrated yet):

(And yep a lot of this – namely title and the second verse – was inspired by Martyn's speech to Ren after he beheaded him in 3rd Life ("You took me in when I was a lowly traveller, going across the lands, searching the four corners of this world. I learned there was nothing in this world for me. Nothing but walls, corners, edges. But you know what, you showed me life. As much as I've taken it from you, you gave it back to me in bucketsfulls") hehehe... except now it's back to being Walls Corners and Edges again because of 3rd Life turning out the way it did and them starting anew (and also 'Ren's death made c!Martyn permanently more selfish' my beloved).)

*I may change this if it's too on the nose/sounds too unnatural, but that's how it is for now.

Right, walk with me as I dive into Canary Curse/SecretLife Martyn lore.

The current working theories are:

A: Jimmy is a sign of doom to his allies. Most of his allies have done poorly when partnered with him (Scott, Mumbo, Tango, Joel, and now Martyn), at least in reference to their usual abilities.

B: Watchers dislike Martyn. (And Jimmy)

These are valid in my mind and pair well with the phenomenon. However, I don't think it's exactly what is happening.

Which leads me to a mildly popular theory I'm still debating about (which will be my main point of this post):

Martyn is actively sacrificing himself for Jimmy.

It's not a poor theory, but I don't think it's accurate. For one, it doesn't fit wonderfully with Martyn's character (in game), which is untrustworthy, turncoat, and survivalist among other things.

But lets talk about why I DO like it first.

So this theory is similar to a different situation that happened in limited life. When Joel famously said after Jimmy died 'I was going to sacrifice myself for him, so he wouldn't go out first.' Most people have taken that to mean 'I was going to give him my time/let him perma-kill me.'

What's interesting about this is Joel is going about it in a very productive way. He is gathering time from other players, which he will then give to Jimmy to further Jimmy's odds. It could technically also imply that Joel doesn't plan to die instantly. If he has enough time he can share with Jimmy without full sacrifice.

Joel never got a chance to do this. Making the words tragic and full of broken hope, especially considering how he was then hunted by the majority of the server. Soon dying near where Jimmy fell.

Martyn's actions would be tragic in a very very different way.

This isn't a man being productive. this is a man actively self destroying. looking the universe in the face as he chooses to beat it just seconds before it can kill it's favorite punching bag.

I can not begin to describe how much this feels like a man clawing victory out of a race only he knows he's participating in. (Only he knows hes Winning)

Martyn is not Helping Jimmy's case. He isn't somehow giving him more time on earth or showering him in diamond armor until he's safe. This is not a story where the victory will come sweet, this is one where the victory is death. Not more time with friends and family. Death.

I genuinely love imagining that. Full stop.

However, I don't think it's the Reasoning behind Martyn's actions. (at least partly)

Martyn is known partly for Rebellion. Or at least, THINKING about rebellion. (see, that's an important detail)

Character Martyn always planned on betraying Ren. Always. He was going to mutiny, coup, whatever you want to call it, from day one.

In Double life he doesn't live with his soulmate. Actively, killing them at one point. In Last life he begins talking to Them, beginning his journey into becoming a Listener agent.

In Limited life he actively disobeys the unspoken rules of conduct. (Which, to be clear, I do not think actually EXIST). He steals peoples kills, he acts amicable only to knife people in the back seconds later, he killed people that are supposed to be his allies. In a game where everyone was loyal he he betrayed his closest ally to win the game.

Now. Here's where the Thinking comes into play.

Martyn is never actually rebelling.

Not in any meaningful way at least. It's like the crab in the bucket example, he's pulling other crabs down to get to the mouth of the bucket (winning) and in doing so he Thinks he's rebelling. But he's actually just playing into the Death Game.

throughout this whole thing the ONLY thing he can do to rebel would have been to simply not play the game.

(Which is technically true from a Meta stand point as well)

Martyn could have let himself die. Could have refused to kill. In doing so he is causing the most active form of rebellion against the people Watching, in that he is giving them nothing to watch. He is refusing to PLAY the Death Game.

Now. He didn't chose to do that...

But what if he did THIS time?

Martyn has succeeded his goal, he's won. He is the fourth winner of the life series. And guess what?

It got him SHIT.

An hour and a half of abject loneliness in an abandoned war torn server, all while he slowly waited to die. And after? No escape. No nothing, just right back into the Game.

It's a little like the universe is laughing at him.

"Oh, you thought this would make you Special? You thought this would beet us? This is exactly what we always wanted"

So that one goal Martyn's had since the beginning? Gone. Out the window. And if THAT option is gone, there's really only one left:

I don't think Martyn is trying to die first to save Jimmy. I think Martyn is trying to die first to beet the Watchers/Universe.

(After all. What's a bigger fuck you than breaking the most solid curse in the game?)

I wrote down the things Martyn said about his lore during the stream (mostly about the poems), here's what I could put together in short time:

Episode 04:

Every grain that passes come to rest - Time passing

A pilar built another test - Beginning of the watchers influence on betraying Scott. Also another layer of the Watchers putting Martyn above the other players because they have interest on him, he's fun to torment and while being very loyal, he's happy to switch on people if need be. During "another test" we hear the tone of the tune when the boogeyman is picked, but pitched down.

These fickle fields, unguided hand - Recognition that Ren wasn't on this season, so a switch on Martyn's comfort and familiarity.

Forever molding in the sands - The idea that all would wash up on the shore

The thrill to kill, the fleeting gill - Excitement of betraying someone and how fragile the alliance was.

All washed ashore to settle still - Same of "forever molding in the sands"

A single day and then it's gone - About their timers.

Episode 07:

Pause, unpause. We paralyze - Recognition of the AFK episode and Grian's role within the story, bringing a more joyous yet chaotic side, which is bad for the Watchers since they feed in negative emotions. Text is in upper case cause the Watchers are pissed at Grian.

A vacant stare. For wandering eyes - Watchers being able to paralyze Grian and make him a bystander on the game, trying their best to get rid of him. Forcing him to only watch.

Canary call, the first to fall - Jimmy's death (reference to the canary in coal mine story)

Forever caged in different walls - The nature of the loop of the games and how it's happening again and again, with him dying first

Echoes bring for brief exchange - The listeners are a temporary wrinkle

Disruptions by the ones estranged - The listeners managed to interrupt the games briefly to replace Pearl and Cleo. Lizzie was tapped in cause Pearl hasn't quite recovered from the events of Double Life and was really traumatized. Cleo had never made it so far before Double Life so it took a toll on her, she never witnessed this much destruction before. Cleo and Pearl don't know they got swapped.

Martyn said this about Joel recognizing Lizzie and I had to quote cause it broke me:

"It makes sense that Joel was the only one to recognize Lizzie for being soulmates and married in another life. Joel will always recognize Lizzie no matter what, no matter when"

Our gaze would bring untimely deaf - For a listener to not hear anymore it would be close to death, symbolically.

"None of the Evo players are Listeners. Only Grian has become a Watcher, but everyone else is a player"

Episode 08:

The vignette at the end of Martyn's episode is the Watchers getting more and more frustrated (they hate Scott for refusing to play along, Impulse being willing to die and ruining the negative emotions, annoyed at the Listeners for swapping bodies before). The ending was too civil and nice for their taste.

It's not the Watchers fully possessing Martyn, they're feeding negative emotions into him and making him angrier than he should be. The Watchers wanted a show.

A reminder that it can't always end civil, a reminder of why they're there.

Martyn wanted to add clips of voice lines of important moments of c!Martyn during the count down but there wasn't enough time for that

Still you flee from a weighted decision - Recognition that they were trying to run away from the Watchers on Evo. Also about the betrayal on Scott.

Woven the fragments that make up a soul:

A fragment isn't a shard of the Vtuber lore. The fragments were losses on the life series, a large fragment is lost from his soul/body after experiencing a great amount of distress.

The one in his chest represents Double Life, the one on his hand is Limited Life and the one on his face is Third Life (on his cheek, representing a tear after Ren fell, Ren's death broke him and made c!Martyn more selfish). The one for Last Life is beneath his clothing, between his shoulder blades.

Because of his win, one of the Listeners "cures" the fragment on his hand. They're trying to free/liberate him, while the Watchers are trying to feed on him.

His character is in a constant state of falling at the end because it's the only fear humans are born with, so the Watchers can feed of something while waiting for the next game.

Evo is part of the timeline, while other SMP's (hermitcraft, empires) are almost like other planes. While they're on the subconscious state they can go to these other planes.

c!Martyn doesn't know about anything going on. He gets a glimpse of the truth on Last Life but he didn't comprehend it. c!Grian is aware

Watchers thoughts on some members:

The watchers have a slight grip with all the Evo members

They're slightly fond towards Skizz and Joel because they tend to be chaotic.

They hate Scott. So much.

They took Lizzie and Mumbo out of rotation because the Watchers thought they couldn't take another season on a row, they would be too broken.

That's what I could note down while watching the stream, hopefully it makes enough sense!

Akira Kurusu/Ren Amamiya

• Let's start with how he comforts his partner!

• Akira is a people-watcher. His quiet nature allows him to observe others and pick up on mannerisms that even they may not be aware of. He tries to keep his telling abilities to a limit, though, as he's big on respecting boundaries and doesn't want to invade his partner's privacy

• However, if it becomes increasingly apparent that something is wrong (especially if it's for an extended period of time), he'll act on it

• If you and him are out of the house, he'll ask if you want him to take them home. If you both are out with friends/other people, he'll simply tell them that you aren't feeling well (he doesn't want to give further explanations without your permission)

• Once you reach home, he's walking you straight to your room and sitting you down wherever you feel comfortable

• He's not entirely sure what to do, at least, not right away, so he decides to pull you into a hug, letting you rest your head on his shoulder as he strokes a hand through your hair. He lightly squeezes you every now and then, a non-verbal sign that he's not going anywhere

• If you can't find it in themself to talk about it, he just lets you get all your emotions out. If you need to cry you can cry. If you need to scream you can scream. If you need to hit something he's grabbing the nearest pillow. There's no judgement with him. He stays with you until you've let all your emotions out

• More then willing to listen if you need to talk about what's going on. He's silent for most of it (apart from the occasional nod of acknowledgement), but I promise that he's listening intently, he just doesn't wanna interrupt

• He's not letting you do anything for the rest of the day. He has it all covered down to every miniscule task. He wants you to be able to relax and feel pampered, even if it's for a brief moment. Additionally, if you had plans with other people, he offers to notify those people that you'll be staying home

• Constant affirmations that you aren't being a bother and that your feelings are important. He also lets you know that he's proud of you for pushing through

• Tries to encourage you to eat/drink something. He makes a freshly-brewed cup of coffee along with some curry to help replenish your energy. If you're not a coffee person, he's got other options such as hot chocolate or various herbal teas that Haru recommended to him

• Asks what you would like to do in the moment. If you're truly unsure, he'll default to putting on a movie or playing a laid-back video game

• Brushes your hair or gives them light massages. He's trying to use physical touch to coax away the bad thoughts

• Overall, he's extremely caring towards you and wants to do everything he can to make you feel loved and safe

• Now as a bonus, here's a few reverse-comfort headcanons!

• When he's stressed, upset, overwhelmed, etc., Akira has a tendency to camp out in his room and shut himself down. He doesn't do it entirely on purpose, it's just a habit he developed over the course of his childhood

• He's good at keeping his emotions to himself, so it may be a bit difficult for to identify if something is wrong

• Sometimes, though, his bottled up emotions will spill and silently collapse into you (give this man a hug, and therapy tbh)

• He doesn't always talk about what's wrong, not because he doesn't want to, but because he's unsure of how to word his emotions. It's best to let him know that there's no pressure to find the right words or form coherent sentences, or even talk about it at all, you'll be here to comfort him no matter what he chooses to do

• He might try writing out his feelings if he's unable to talk. He'll start by writing a few "keywords" and go off of that

• Enjoys laying in bed whilst holding you close. It's a huge source of comfort. He'll play with your hair or mess with your hands

• Sooooo appreciative if you do anything for him (ex. cooks for him)

• He's not used to the extra attention he's getting and it makes him a bit self-conscious. He starts asking if you're is feeling okay in an attempt to turn the attention away from himself, but it only takes a firm hug and words of affirmation from you to get him to stop

• He has wayyyy too many responsibilities and deserves all the love in the world

The smell is always the first thing Xisuma notices when it's about to happen. The sharp scent of ozone and minerals permeates the filters of his mask and leaves a metallic tang in his mouth that makes him want to spit.

Next comes the electric chill in the air. The cool crackling of Their presence travels up his spine, leaving his bones too stiff to shiver.

He locks eyes with Grian from across the deepslate paths of the shopping district. An unspoken conversation happens in a matter of seconds.

I'm sorry.

I know. It's not your fault.

I wish I could stop it.

Me too.

No one else can sense it, something Xisuma is greatful for. This ability to sense Their presence is unique to creatures of the Void.

And Grian...

Well. Grian.

The next day Grian is gone, along with Scar, Cleo, Tango, Impulse, Pearl, Bdubs, and Etho. They hadn't taken Ren or Mumbo this time, but the forlorn expression they both wear and try to cover with forced casual smiles isn't lost on Xisuma.

It's not as if there is anything any of them can do. They take what They want from whoever They want it from, and whenever They want it. No amount of protective barriers or Void magic can ever stop Them.

He stands in the streets of Scarland on the first night. On top of an Atlantian seahorse on the Second. In the lobby of Deep Frost Citadel on the third.

All he ever wanted was to build a world with his friends.

What good is that world if he can't even protect them in it.

He stares at the sword in the Dwarven keep for hours on the fourth night. The fifth is spent taking shelter from the rain under the petal of an alien flower.

The denizens of the void once worshiped the Watchers as gods. Now Xisuma's only prayers to Them are helpless pleas to return his friends from whatever land of death they've been taken to this time, to free them from the cycle of suffering.

The sixth and seventh night in the basement and main structure of the monolith are the loneliest by far.

He gets a message from Doc on the eighth day telling him that Mumbo hasn't been sleeping. Neither has Xisuma, but he doesn't think that's important.

He'll sleep when his friends are safely home.

He goes to Mumbo and finds him knelt in a strange circle of red candles with a stack of heads in the center. Eight heads to be exact, one for each hermit taken to the death games by the Watchers.

He can feel it, Mumbo says. Something about having a piece of Grian's soul.

They go to Grumbot Cave together on the eighth night. But no sooner than the sun sets does the metallic taste and cold jolt wash over Xisuma again. From the way Mumbo cringes, he realizes Mumbo senses it as well.

Something about having a piece of a Watcher's soul.

A figure materializes in the center of the room, a vibrant glowing purple with two sets of wings covered in eyes. In its arms is a half conscious Grian, who the other Watcher is gracious enough to gently pass into Mumbo’s outstretched arms.

Watching with defiant eyes

Feeds to us his mournful cries

A curse unbroken, sorrow spoken

By his hands, his trusted dies.

"Wait!" Xisuma calls out as the winged figure fades, but it vanishes without another word or explanation.

"Dammit!" he curses, clenching his fists to his sides.

Grian groans as he wakes, then his eyes shoot open, flashing purple for a split second before jumping out of Mumbo’s hold on him.

"Grian..." Mumbo reaches for Grian, and Xisuma takes a careful step towards him.

"You're home," Xisuma reassures his panic-stricken friend. "You're safe."

For now, he thinks.

"Scar and Bdubs and Cleo. I need to find Scar and Bdubs and Cleo!"

"You've all gone through Hell, my friend. Why don't you take a breather first? They'll still be there once you've calmed down."

Xisuma hopes his gentle grip on Grian’s shoulder is comforting despite the cold metal of his gauntlet. But although Grian flinches at the initial contact, he makes no effort to escape. Instead, he just falls to his knees. There are no tears, only Grian’s trembling and Mumbo’s soft affirmations of safety.

There are no tears. At least none visible. Behind the tinted visor of his helmet, Xisuma weeps silently.

Because he's lying. Mumbo is lying.

His hermits aren't safe. They will never be safe as long as the Watchers are determined to slake their thirst for fear and grief with their deaths.

He can comfort them in the moment. He can help them rebuild and move on. But They will always come back, and as much as Xisuma knows his hermits appreciate his unending love and support, he also knows that it doesn't matter in the long run.

Even now, as Grian’s trembling subsides and his breath evens out, Xisuma feels completely, utterly, unforgivably useless.

I dunno- this and into the woods is my favorite musicals and I’ve had traffic brain rot for AGESSS and I was finally re-listening to Hadestown and this absolute fever dream of an idea dawned on me during hey little song bird

Eurydice- Jimmy Solidarity ✨the canary✨ you see the vision. This (joke?) is what started this whole thing so.

Orpheus- Still deciding between Scott and Tango

Tango pros:

- They are soulmates

- the goat horns are kinda vaguely like music/an instrument 👀

- ranchers duo is SO SWEET always

- their lives are tethered which in a way fits the story of the show and the myth.

- idk i just like this idea

- why are you still here? It’s over. Go home.

- c!jimmy seems to be on better terms with c!tango than c!scott soooo

Scott pros:

- they were husbands, Jimmy died first tragically (very accurate to original myth)

- THE FLOWER MOTIF- specifically a red flower. It’s just so perfect

- they saw each other in the afterlife

- Scott is always attached to flower husbands which seems fitting

- he likes to sing? Empires musical? I don’t know but it seems like it works

-flower husbands and desert duo have connections (you will see why this is important)

So yeah leaning towards tango for the vibes but leaning towards Scott for actual similarities in plot and such.

(If someone wants to say Joel or someone I will happily hear you out lol)

Hades and Persephone- c!Grian and c!Scar/desert duo. The characters were once in love and then it grew into a a more bitter relationship. There are lots of potential parallels with Hadestown older lovers and desert duo. Grian and scar also have flower/plant motifs.

Grian as hades- He is a watcher, which seems fitting. Creator of the games seems fitting for god of death and also the industrial foreman Hadestown has. Original winner.

Scar as Persephone- Now that he is a winner, I personally love the idea of him being the earth, which is perfect for the god(dess) of spring. I also think his secret life skins going from green to black is an accidental parallel.

The only real issue with this is I want to incorporate Grian being the sun but that’s contradictory;-;

Hermes- My main idea atm is Martyn. This is mostly because storytelling and lore is very connected to him and his character. Who doesn’t love some eyes and ears AU/lore

I am also considering pearl just because I like that idea, her being the moon and being connected to g and s, etc

And Ren because he is such a storyteller/theater kid

The Fates- I have several ideas for this

-the watchers(and secret keeper.) Obvious reasons

- the other winners

-clethubs because they are a fun/good trio lol

- ren, pearl, Scott (in case I don’t have them as Hermes/orpheus)

- the remaining Evo members: bigb (also he was so creechur in third life ), pearl, and if he’s not Hermes, Martyn (also good since pearl and martyn have won)

Okay, I am ready to say things but before that:

Alrighty now before I go crazy let me just comment on what I’ve watched:

1. Pearl’s episode was wonderful. So many people and interesting alliances!

2. Martyn… I feel like without ren 90% of the series Martyn is alone, homeless and dying. But it was fun ha-ha.

3. Scott’s was hilarious and classic. Gem and Scotts my beloved. At this point I started making a note with all the quotes I like.

4. Grian straight up murdered me. Like all the puns and awesome interactions AND DESERT DUO?! This was very-very tasty.

And yeah! Nobody died! This is great, right?

So I really like the concept of this season it’s gonna be really interesting and exciting to watch. (Ha-ha you know watch… I think it’s time to start the second part)

Okay now I scream, cause NO WAY THIS IS NOT WATCHERY THINGS LIKE EVEN JIMMY SAID THAT IT LOOKS FAMILIAR.

Yeah so, until I will be told otherwise I am going to consider the taskmaster the watcher. Now other things:

1. Not, Grian putting his face over the statue like, I died when I saw that.

2. BigB’s task. So here is the thing, I think I saw that somewhere but still I have a feeling that the hole is supposed to be a place for end portal. You know. Evo, watchers, Grian saying about the possibility of the end being in this seas. Those things.

3. Now, I need to ask you a very important question: who threatened Grian? Like I would never believe that after everything he just like: yeah why not put watcher lore here, sure, that what I’ve always wanted.

4. I have a theory about it!

Here is the master post for my 'Red Prince Jimmy au' <- will be the tag I use for it

Under the break bc it's a lot.

Okay so I am going to preface the general idea by saying c!Scott in this is possessed/influenced by the Watchers.

He is not doing this willingly.

The general idea: Scott is not good. He is being absolutely horrible to Jimmy, who doesn't fully believe that Scott is bad. After an argument with Scott, Jimmy runs and is found by the Red army/dogwarts alliance. It's then healing Jimmy while dealing with the dessert trio. Scott is also healing with Scar and Grian.

Rating: Teen or Mature. There will be some suggestive stuff (I just don't know how far I will put it, and nothing explicitly nsfw) also a lot of heavy topics, so it will probably be Mature.

Ships: Red army poly. That is the best way to explain it. And also Scott/Scar/Grian, Cleo/bdubs, and maybe tango/bdubs (haven't decided will update as I decide)

Other important things: The red king is like a minor deity of sorts. Ren and Red King(King or Rk) share the body and both take control all of the time.

Scott is not fully aware what's happening and is very scared of how he treats Jimmy. Like this man is terrified of hurting someone else. The au will also follow the desert trio too, but they're not the focus.

TW: this au will have talk of abuse, and mind control. (No non-con in this, but still very heavy topics)

I will happily rant if anyone asks me anything, about this au, uh thats the basics. I do have snippets written but nothing concrete.

listen narratively it makes sense for limited life to be the last season of the life series. hear me out!

for one thing, it provided a satisfying end to several character arcs. martyn finally won due to betraying his ally, sure, but he also won wearing the dogwarts flag. he’s never fully let go of his alliance with ren throughout the series, so for him to finally win (while wearing the flag from the very first season that represented his and ren’s alliance (AND in the season where ren wasn’t there)) could put that arc to rest

also, whatever was going on with martyn and his watcher lore (i wish i knew more but i actually have watched very little of martyn’s pov) could have been resolved nicely with martyn finally winning the series.

the parallels between third and limited life were also very satisfying. grian falling to his final death, the callback to flower husbands, etc. and obviously the finale was very reminiscent of the third life finale right up until it wasn’t, making it a satisfying finale in my opinion

for another thing, the way that limited life had a set ending could provide a nice ending to the series. in previous seasons, we’ve had no idea how long the season would last. in limited life, there was a countdown and once it hit 0, it was over. that kind of final ending could work well for a series finale

there are other reasons too. i don’t remember where i first read it but i love the idea of the four seasons of the show actually being the four season. third life as fall (“red winter is coming” and all that), last life as winter (all the death i guess?), double life as spring (something something new life and love), and limited life as summer (with the beach vibes ofc). obviously there are other interpretations for the seasons too, or you don’t have to like that at all, but you have to admit that four seasons is a nice round number.

plus you’ve got the cool rhyme! the sun, the stars, the moon, and mars! (i mean, i love that we never really settled on a symbol for martyn and i think that in and of itself represents his character really well, but the rhyme is admittedly very nice)

also (spoilers for session 6 of secret life is you’re behind!), secret life has sort of broken a lot of precedents, what with the inclusion of the secret keeper and the canary curse being broken and such. i personally adore this but it does break the cycle of the games to some extent. the canary curse, for example, is broken but isn’t given a satisfying ending. jimmy doesn’t die first, sure, but he dies within like 10 minutes of lizzie’s death. if it were a scripted series, i’d say this season was setting up a new arc. on its own, it can’t be a satisfying ending (i mean, as far as i know. session 8 isn’t out yet, maybe it will surprise me)

at the end of the day tho, who cares! third life on its own has a fairly satisfying ending! double life could’ve also resolved several important arcs in a meaningful way! i wrote this analysis on three hours of sleep!

for as much as i’ve talked about how limited life should’ve been the ending, I actually love secret life. it’s my favorite season and im so glad they didn’t end it with limited life. i just have too many thoughts about the narrative in an unscripted series haha

anyway who’s excited for session 8 tomorrow!

Hello Scott Megabuild! I heard you mention that newer fans should watch 3rd and last life and was wondering if you have any recommendations on who to watch? I tried watching grian but...just couldn't get into it. I'd love too, and I was just wandering if you have any favorites? Thank you! :D

so my best advice for any life season would be to watch the creator you're most comfortable with and then from there if you're curious about other characters you see you can go watch their povs afterwards! but having said that:

for 3rd life, grian or scar AND ren or martyn are the traditional recs since they're the leaders of the two main "factions", with any other pov you just aren't going to see the full "main" story of 3rd life while only watching one pov will lead to bias. it's not necessary but that's what i've always recced to friends before. a pov from the crastle (bdubs and cleo) is also good. i'm also partial to tango and ofc etho but neither are that central

for last life, smajor, scar, etho or bdubs are my personal recs, i also liked mumbo and lizzie here but don't know if i'd recommend them for first time viewers unless you really like their content already just because they're a bit separate from the "overall" story. scar is also quite isolated like this but that's sort of his charter's whole Thing, fantastic pov i truly do not talk about llscar enough... and ethubs of course are my special little guys and last life is their specialest season so obviously i'm a little biased but i think most fans would accept their story in ll is really good so. other team best povs (skizz/tango) work too, tango especially i think has a pretty cool pov... and martyn again, i don't like his ll pov that much personally but it does have some important "lore" and is where the watcher stuff started to really get built on so if you're a fan of that consider it :3

My thoughts on Martyn Secret life lore stream (Eyes and Ears AU)

first, Martyn why would you hurt me with that imagery? Poor scar ;-;

-I really like the idea of the logo being the pincer on the Watchers. Grian is a force of nature and should be represented as such

-I am of the personal belief that Jimmy did not break free from the canary curse, since he died right before Wither/Warden boss fight and the entire point of Canarys is to warn of danger

-slightly irralevently but I need to draw the Scar

-BOY do I love the idea of Gem being used as the Watchers new tool because of the Zombie outbreak (send Gem all the love for that skill!!!)

-love Gem being taken by Watchers in general, especially adding in her lore that in Empires she thought everybody was just roleplaying, so she came in thinking it was roleplay and got stuck.

-i also like the idea of Jimmy getting struck down because of the Watchers being confused by his "funeral" and once Lizzy dies, then going "wait no he's supposed to be dead hold on-" and striking him down immediately

-i need more ideas for art. Also references. Please more references proportions are awful

I know something happened to Doc, probably bad given that the reference was 'yes the red stuff was definitely ketchup', so was it because of the knowledge he has gained? Again, never seen any data stream so take all of this with a grain of salt. I just like analysing stories and have read enough to be able to pick out plotlines fairly well.
