You are two Venetian children (aged 12 and 10 respectively) who don’t speak a lick of English yet you’re dropped off in the middle of 1930s Las Vegas. Although it feels like only 2 months have passed since your arrival, you and your sibling unknowingly spend 70 years in an atemporal limbo known as Lotus Hotel Casino. You learn English by playing tabletop games, bingo, ring toss, slots…even Mythomagic.

When you think about it, Bianca and Nico learned to speak English the same way 2010s kids learned by watching Pewdiepie and Markiplier on Youtube.

Julien/Marnie/Roman:

Canon. After some events in the prologue, Julien needs a new place to stay and rents a room in a house shared by Marnie and Roman, an already established couple (oh my god, they were roommates!). Their shared love for music leads them to form a band together, and as they become closer, feelings blossom. A drunken kiss leads to a very apologetic and anxious Julien and a lot of confusion between Marnie and Roman, as the realize they're also each developing feelings for him. They eventually have a conversation, admitting their feelings for each other, and become a polycule. They are a triangle, as they're all dating each other. (Julie also has a journey as he explores his gender identity, which isn't relevant to the polycule propaganda, I guess, but something I always like to see. Go read the comic!!!)

Elise/Hotaru/Kayla:

Canon. A group of high schoolers and their basketball coach survive the apocalypse together, Kayla and Hotaru being part of this group. Later, they find an ex-classmate's (Elise) house where they can hideout for a while with another group of survivors from their school. Hotaru and Elise don't seem to get along at first, despite having a mutual crush on each other. When the house is attacked by zombies, Elise confesses her love for Hotaru just before saving her and getting bit. This leads to a lot of conflicted feelings, as Hotaru has to figure out her feelings for Kayla while grieving the loss of Elise. Hotaru and Kayla start dating, and after a while it's revealed Elise survived, in a way, by cutting out the bitten arm and only partially turning. Conflicted feelings ensue and they eventually become a polycule. (Go read the comic!!!)

Exy career was everything Neil expected it to be, it was his dream come true, his life. But his life no longer had an expiration date. Any missteps he made on the court (Actual missteps, pulled tendons, and torn muscles) followed him off the court.

He was 27, and he already sounded like David did when he needed to sit down on their low set couch. And David was overplaying it just to get an amused but loving glance form Abby, and a kiss on a cheek when she joined him. Neil's back hurt. Most of his bones did. His right arm felt cold and tingly more often than not and keeping his ankle iced was not solving the issue of his inflamed nerve.

But Neil expected that.

What he was not expecting was seeing a mirror for those issues in Andrew. Andrew, who was strong enough to hold the weight of Neil's problems and stand straight. Was. Neil was glad they weren't hiding this, at least. He was glad Kevin wasn't living with them any more to witness as they allowed their bodies to fall apart. Neil, unable to hold a pen long enough to write sentence (Andrew was right about not giving a fuck about autographs). Andrew, unable to hold his own weight, never exactly comfortable with his own spine any more.

How long could they do this to themselves?

Neil looked at Andrew

Forever.

To each other?

Andrew was already looking at Neil. “I Am not leaving you alone on the court.”

Neil needed to find a way to quit Exy.
