I thought I would talk more about how I feel Ekko is often mistreated or ignored by the Arcane fandom and why I think that is and spoiler alert I Anti-Blackness is at least a part of it.

Ekko is subjected to what a lot of black boys are too in real life which is  adultification. Ekko just like a lot of black boys was essentially forced to grow up and due to this I think a lot of the Arcane Fandom treat him as an adult and thus judge him more harshly just like how in real life black boys are often treated as older then they actually are and thus are subjected to more scruinty and Ekko is sadly constantly subjected to this by the fans. This is in direct contrast with Jinx who seems to be given a lot more leeway which to a certain extent is understandable because it is her story essentially but I still find it odd how she is given the "oh poor baby pushed around by the big bad world must protect" but Ekko is just given a side glance and a "he's doing fine" when both Ekko and Jinx deserve that "need to protect" additude but yet it feels like Jinx is given the most of the protection and Ekko is just left to fend for himself.

Honestly I don't think a lot of the Arcane Fandom looks at Ekko as a victim and that is genuinely upsetting. They look at his situation as more of a success story but even then his "success" is is very sad when you think about it.  Yes he built a community and yes I guess he did "turn out okay" despite his situation but he shouldn't have had build that community in the first place and just because he did doesn't mean he's healed, trauma doesn't just go away because your relatively okay compared to everyone else. I also think his hurt isn't taken as seriously as the other characters because he doesn't actively display it as much, in total his hurt is displayed in two main instances and that's it mostly, the other times he's on screen he's either angry or at the very least mildly annoyed or somber which is interesting because this is most likely a mask he wears and this mask is a direct result of the adultification I talked about earlier. 

Ekko suffers from what a lot of black characters do which is that despite them going through the same or sometimes even more trauma then non black characters, their trauma is often overlooked or downplayed to be less then it is which is something that happens in IRL to black people all the time. Also this mischaracterization of Ekko extended to Shipping as well to where some people label him as an abuser towards Jinx which is ironic because he is one out of like 2 other characters that doesn't actively kill anyone and if anything he tries to avoid that as much as possible so I genuinely don't understand where this abuser assumption came from, is it because they genuinely Believe it or is it because they saw a black man being aggressive an automatically assumed he was the one in the wrong in the situation.

I got a little bit ranty there and I apologize but Ekko is my favorite character from the show and just fiction in general and I feel like he has so much to offer but he is seemingly being mistreated by other fans of the show and that just doesn't sit right with me. I just hope next season really gives him his time in the spotlight.

Lately I’ve been feeling like Thai bl is truly all over the place with so many shows airing at once and some of the best ones flying under the radar while discourse is focused on a couple of the big messy ones. I think you’re the only person I know who is actually watching ALL of them and has been here for the whole evolution of the genre, so I’m curious what stands out to you about this current moment. Do the shows feel different to you? Is the way fandom is interacting with them changing? And what are your current favs?

I ended up writing a thesis, sorry friend lol To be fair to me there are 3 questions in there, all of them meaty! I've done my best to give a sense of where I'm at with Thai BL and how it feels like it's changed over time.

Caveating all of this: I am just one fan who I'm sure has had specific experiences that will colour my opinion, also a lot of this is just vibes so I'm open to being told I've forgotten something major or misremembered what it was like! If you are reading this and your opinion or experience is different please share, with stuff like this I'm always interested in hearing about differing opinions because the fandom experience will depend at least partly on where you hang out. For years, my main fandom space for BL was the YouTube comments section (RIP me).

Overall feel

Honestly, things overall don't feel all that different to me in Thai BL in particular, even though I'm about to talk about a lot of changes and ways it actuallyd does feel very different below lol And after reflecting about it, I think it's because these things still feel very much in flux, in a way that they've felt in flux this entire time. Producers are still figuring out the best funding and distribution models and merch models to make money; creators are still calibrating how queer these shows can be and still be popular; actors are still figuring out how to do BGP (business gay performances) without having fans interfere in their private lives off the clock. Writers are still trying to figure out how to write 12-episode arcs that don't drag in the middle or fumble the ending (which is also not new). The tension between established ships, fan expectations, and genre requirements has honestly been there almost the whole time, though the reverberations of missteps is louder now because of the larger fanbase that is (comparatively) more plugged in to live viewing. The core question in BL has always been 'how do we make this marketable', and that unsurprisingly hasn't changed, though the answer to that question has over time, if that makes sense?

Shows

Do the shows feel different? As a whole, I'd say yes. The biggest differences are of course total quantity and overall quality, but the actual distribution of % of shows that have high(er) production values (i.e. quality) feels close to the same--it was close to 50/50 in the late 2010s and now is maybe more like 40/60 with a higher percentage coming from more smaller production companies. But the numbers we're talking about are something like 15 shows in e.g. 2018 and something more like 50 shows in 2023 (being vague because there are shows that people could argue over whether they should count). The quality overall has increased, even the pulps look better, sound better, and tend to feel a little bit more put together than the pulps of even 2020 (please note that these are all relative qualifiers, most of these shows are still not objectively good). 2020 in particular was a watershed moment for high production value BLs; we get colorists and special effects artists, and sometimes decent sound production now!

There has also been an improvement in terms of what is depicted and how certain subject matter is treated very generally, though I think that's still in flux. Things like evil ex girlfriends are less common than they were and the women in BL are more likely (in general, still not always) to be treated as realized characters. We've gotten more and better femme representation in ensemble shows, and the "gay for you" trope is much less common. Consent is now considered sexy and is much more common than it was; non-consent as "sexy" has eroded and is much less common. Things that used to happen in almost every BL now happen in a much lower percentage. I also feel a little bit less worried about some of the actors on pulp sets because there is more general scrutiny about things like minor actors, intimacy coordination, BGP (business gay performance) expectations, and sexual exploitation. Overall, show recommendations these days come with fewer caveats.

The assumption that if you worked with someone on a BL once you would stay with them as an established pairing was surprisingly early in BL; I don't know if it's just because there were a few shows that had side pairings then get main shows, so the actors did work together on a few shows in a row, which made them feel established, or whether it's because the BGP started early to build hype both before and after shows aired, or whether audiences just made homophobic assumptions about how if two actors had chemistry they had to be gay for each other, and otherwise nobody would want to "play gay" more than once, or would want to have to kiss too many other men....in any case, there were huge scandals and blow-ups around this in BL on even the earliest shows, and some early shows were snubbed because of the pairing alone. Similarly, it was established very early in BL (i.e. 2016-17) that an unhappy ending for a pair would result in your show being panned; cheating was also a guaranteed flop in BL circles (though some ensemble shows that had gay relationships in them such as Friend Zone did fine with cheating plots and unhappy endings). Overall it feels like some things were only depicted in early Thai BL and creators have avoided them since due to the audience reception at the time. I will say, generally, that there have now been enough examples of people in a "branded pair" moving on to a new pair or multiple shows, that it feels less like a death knell to a BL career if one of the actors says they no longer wanted to make BLs, or if they switched companies.

I pay a lot of attention to queerness in BL, and that has changed a little bit too, though not in the way I expected. I had been expecting a more clear and steady trajectory in BL, but we've instead had real swings, and I've realized there will just always be shows that feel more or less actually gay or queer than others, and that's ok. Early Thai shows really spoiled us for good queer content, GayOK Bangkok and Diary of Tootsies are still shows by which i measure what we get now, and both of those are from 2016. I would say that more "mainstream" BL (i.e. by one of the major production companies) hit what turned out to be queer saturation around 2020 and that's where I was most surprised not see a more clear trajectory; rather than things getting more queer from there, I'd say a greater percentage of shows overall feel more queer, but we haven't (and I now suspect won't) reach the queerness we had in Thai tv in 2016. That being said, my secret running list of things I want to see in BL gets shorter every year as entries get crossed off, so I would say the range of queer experience is slowly getting captured as more content continues to be made by a wider range of production houses (PrEP being mentioned in a mainstream show is my white whale).

I know some people assume that shows are higher heat now overall, but I don't think that's true. I do think Thai television producers and directors have overalll gotten better at capturing sensuality, and acting workshops have improved chemistry-building overall too. But from what I can tell the ratio of high head and low heat content is still pretty similar to what it's always been, maybe slightly higher (e.g. at a quick glance I'd guesstimate 30% of shows had a sex scene in 2018 vs 40% in 2023).

Fandom

The main differences in fandom from the really early days and now are the ways we, as international fans, are able to engage with each other, with thai audiences at the same time, and with content creators, and the entitlement that comes with that. In the 2010s we were almost always watching after Thai airing, with either fansubs or, later, official subs, trailing online releases by days or weeks, which themselves may have trailed the Thailand airing date by days or weeks or sometimes even months. That became less true around 2019ish, and especially in 2020 when I think Thai producers were desperate to reach audiences during the start of the pandemic (and when audiences were desperate for something to distract us from what was happening in real life).

As a fan in the mid-late 2010s, watching something was either unofficial via a fansubber, or you were wading through hundreds of Thai comments to find anyone else writing about the shows in English. Now, it's actually rare we don't have immediate international distribution, though it may be paid. If the subs are not up at the same time as the official upload, even on free sites, fans get furious. It's a bit surreal to see people complain about waiting a few hours for subtitles, especially on YouTube, when we sometimes waited months for a series to finish being subbed (not to say people didn't complain back then too, because they sure did! But there were fewer international fans overall, and it wasn't an expectation that there would be subs, so fewer people complained when it happened). This meant that a lot of people only watched shows when they were complete, and people were not watching with any kind of synchronicity.

With international fans moving into simultaneous watching with Thai audiences, we suddenly had the chance to talk about shows as they were airing and affect the conversations about them and even, sometimes, the decisions. Folks seem to have differing opinions about what makes a BL, and what makes a BL good, and they are vocal about when a show doesn't meet their standard. This has always been true, but the strong opinions have more of an effect on the discourse when they're expressed in real-time to the show being aired. Also, when we have literally 3x the number of Thai shows being aired (nevermind other countries which have also increased), it seems so much more egregious to me to complain if a single show doesn't meet your particular taste. Just go watch something else! That was less possible in 2016, but now nobody has any excuse lol Please note here that I'm not saying shows should not be criticized. But when you have one loud faction saying shows should have nothing but innocent kisses if any skinship at all and showing more is distasteful and possibly homophobic, and another faction saying a show should be panned if they don't have at least one sex scene and if there is no good kiss it's homophobic, I don't know where that leaves content creators but I see the tension and how it sometimes results in my least favourite tropes like "blushing maiden" even after a couple has canonically had sex. These factions have always existed in BL fandom, this is not new, they just both seem particularly silly now with so much content to choose from.

The shows that get attention and the shows that get snubbed feel the same too, in all honesty. You can ask yourself the following questions:

Is the show a little slower paced?

Are the story beats less melodramatic?

Do its characters feel more human?

Do they feel more queer?

Is it a comedy?

Is there any risk of an unhappy ending?

Do people not think one of the lead actors is hot?

Do people ship one of the lead actors with someone who isn't his costar?

Do people have to do anything other than go to YouTube to watch it?

If the answer is yes to any of those questions, and especially to the last one, fewer people will be watching, even if the show is good. That's always been true. [Shows I'm thinking about when I say that: Make it Right, He's Coming to Me, My Ride, You're My Sky, Oxygen (though the sides in this one are also at fault), YYY, Something in my Room, Ghost Host Ghost House, Dear Doctor I'm Coming for Soul, Cooking Crush.] All this is to say, there have always been shows that have been ignored, though I agree with you OP that with more shows airing, more are being ignored at any given time.

The other thing is that when a show is good, it doesn't necessarily invite discourse. The messes are often what encourage people to dig in, fill in gaps, linger in the adrenaline. The part that does feel different is also related to the increase in genre BLs; genre stuff in general tends to get more attention in fandom spaces, and the way people are functioning as fans feels different in that they're bringing the way they interact with genre content to BL as BL has started having larger and better funded genre content. I'm thinking about those early genre BLs like He She It, My Dream, Love Poison, Golden Blood, So Much In Love, Why R U....we started getting genre shows in BL in I think 2017 and basically had 1-2 a year until 2020ish and then it increased from there; and the ones that had funding and decent distribution got engagement until they started going off the rails, and then they had even more engagement and then fell off. I don't think it's a coincidence that the shows last year that got people to write meta were La Pluie, Be My Favorite, and I Feel You Linger in the Air. When a show is building a world, there's more to say and interrogate about it, and when a genre show fails, it can fail more spectacularly than a regular romance story. The most popular BL shows used to all be straight-up BL bubble romances, but I think genre shows really started to take over a greater percentage of the popular spots in 2022 and 2023. Again, the main difference here is that there used to be 1-2 stand-out shows per year, and now there are closer to 6+ per year, and as we got more stand-out shows the variety of what type of show stood out as popular has expanded. I do think the overall percentage of shows that are more standard romance plots has reduced, partly because Thai production companies are running out of popular y-novels to adapt. So I'm anticipating we'll continue to get more genre content going forward, and maybe a higher percentage of original works too.

Of those, I'd currently most recommend Cooking Crush as a generic BL recommendation. Dead Friend Forever is very good, but is not a romance and is difficult for some to watch (there are a lot of dark themes in addition to the gore and scary bits).

Cooking Crush is doing so many things I love. I've written about the way it's set up its major conflict to be amongst the friend group here, and way the show is depicting communication between the two main characters and how they improve their communication with one another as they get closer here. Two of my biggest BL pet peeves are a conflict for the sake of a dramatic penultimate episode that ignores or retcons a character's growth or the building of trust that a couple has already gone through in the series, so the fact that this show is working so hard to establish strong communication between its leads and then setting up the significant drama to actually about friendship rather than romance is something I cannot overstate my excitement about. To tie this back into what I wrote above, this reminds me of Diary of Tootsies and I mean that in the best possible way.

Dead Friend Foreever is, like I mentioned above, not a romance; it's a slasher horror melodrama with a very well established mystery, an ensemble cast of mostly hateable characters (which I admit isn't usually my thing, but since they're likely all going to die as a result of the genre they're in I'm finding that more tolerable than usual, and there is at least one character I like). DFF did a great job of structuring the story for the ultimate payoff of information reveals. There are a lot of shows that have been messing with non-linear storytelling recently, Cooking Crush being one of the ones that actually does this poorly in my opinion, but Dead Friend Forever effectively uses non-linear storytelling so that we find out important pieces of information about particular characters at a time when that information will have the most emotional impact on what is happening in the "present" of the storyline. Every time there is a reveal, it informs what we've already seen, recontextualizes it, and means we understand some of the character motivations and actions differently from when we saw them the first time. I mentioned above that there are dark themes in this show; one of the things that I really like about this show is that the impact of class is not glossed over, and that the consequences of these events feel very real for the characters; people do terrible things in this show, but these actions are not treated lightly by the show itself.

You'd think these two shows would have nothing in common, but there are things that they share that put them both in my top category. Generally, in both of these shows, the character arcs are clear and logical; when a character does something, even if I don't like the action itself, I can understand exactly why they that and can see how it matches where they are in their arc at the time. The shows show change in characters as a result of what they experience, and the relationships in this show really matter. When characters start acting in ways that feel out of character or against their own arc because they have to in order to drive the plot forward, I struggle to remain invested; that's not happening with either of these shows. Both of these shows also treat serious topics with seriousness, and consequences for actions are real and felt by the characters in the show (and if someone gets away with something, the show is clear that this is not just). Nothing has happened that hasn't been signalled or implied earlier. Both shows also have clear class consciousness and represent the disparity caused by classism in a critical/harsh light.

Headcanons/Thoughts for Every Main Five Just Dance ship

Obviously I have my favorite but sometimes it’s fun to just think about other ships so I wanted to make a post about ALL of them. For some reason. As far as we know all of them are the same age and not related so there’s really no reason why any ship is wrong, let people like what they like.

Wanderlust x Jack: I don’t need to rant about them, you all already know. Go read my fanfiction

Wanderlust x Sara: He brings her into this magical world, she loves it and she loves him. It’s a bit cliche but cliches are cliches because they WORK. Also, we know Sara loves the Danceverses, but what if Wanderlust loves Earth? What if he’s got a Little Mermaid thing going on? Imagine Sara showing him around Earth and him being excited by the silliest little things

Wanderlust x Brezziana: They’re both the most energetic ones of the group. Imagine them teaming up on adventures and charging ahead together when the others get tired. Neither of them can always find a friend to keep up with them, but they always have each other

Wanderlust x Mihaly: They’re kind of like two different sides of the Flow? Wander is more energetic and Mihaly’s more chill, so I think they’d balance each other out well. Mihaly gets Wander to slow down every once in a while and appreciate things he’d otherwise miss. Wanderlust shows them how to be more spontaneous and free

Jack x Sara: Sara falls for the bad boy except he’s not actually bad. So much in the Danceverses is bright and crazy and overwhelming, so Jack being more down-to-earth is refreshing for her. Jack loves the way she treats him. Aside from the events of story mode, she doesn’t have the background on Night Swan and Eternyx that the others do, so she doesn’t know his reputation as well. He feels like she really sees him as his own person while everyone else will always remember his mother’s shadow

Jack x Mihaly: I think both of them being the more practical ones of the group could mesh well. We also know Mihaly used to idolize Night Swan in some way, so they both can relate to having wanted to live up to her legacy and now realizing she was wrong. Jack is also always expecting some sort of punishment or consequence if he does something wrong, but Mihaly is so chill about everything that they make him feel like everything’s okay

Jack x Brezziana: Brezziana will drag Jack out of the house to go do stuff when he’s stuck moping around. Theyre SO opposites attract. She’s also ready to stand up for him whenever necessary. Jack will just turn the other cheek to insults and pretend nothing bothers him, but Brezziana won’t let him bottle things up

Sara x Mihaly: Another case of chill vs energetic balancing each other out. I think Mihaly brings Sara to meet Master Panda and he really likes her. What if they try training together to see if Sara is gifted with the Flow like people from the Danceverses are? Again, I feel like Mihaly is also a grounding presence for her amongst the chaos of the Danceverses.

Sara x Brezziana: They go on mall dates a lot! Cute dates where they pick out outfits for each other and try them on. They’re very giggly. They post very cutesy Instagram posts about each other all the time. Connected at the hip when the gang goes out places.

Mihaly x Brezziana: This one’s popular. Again it’s energetic vs chill. Mihaly will often open their home to fourteen texts from Brezziana about something crazy she just did and Mihaly just shakes their head and smiles.

Mika and Mukai: I actually find this ship kinda intriguing simply because they aren't the stereotypical personality types that get paired together. The deprecative, insecure girl x the guy who isn't afraid to speak his mind.

Yamada and Tomoe: Tomoe is so freaking cute. Although I find Yamada a bit annoying, I really hope that his relationship with her develops him into a better person (not that he's a bad person per-se, but I feel like he needs to really learn what it means to be in a relationship and to genuinely LOVE someone instead of pursuing them for their looks.

Nao and her boyfriend: I don't remember the BF's name but I think they have a very wholesome relationship. And I think Takamatsu does a great job writing a down-to-earth, not overtly dramatized relationship for a trans character. I may have said this before in a previous post, but I have found it incredibly rare to find a respectful portrayal of a trans character in Japanese media, so StL is a treat.

Makoto and Senpai: who is this "Senpai" you ask? *Shrugs* I don't know either! Could it be the senpai from her first date with that dude back in Chapter 26? Possibly? Or is there someone new? That's also a chance. Honestly, either way, I hope it's a good person!

Characters I'm interested in:

Yuzuki: Obviously, she's the odd one out of the group. Out of the main cast, she's the only one who is strictly and overtly single. She seems to reject every guy who proposes to her, but I'm not sure if this is out of distrust built in her middle school years, or simply she just isn't interested. I honestly can't tell if she likes boys and just doesn't trust them, if she likes girls, or if she's asexual/aromatic.

Kanechika: I like this guy. He really reminds me of a lot of theater type people I met during my university days. I'll say this upfront. The first impression I got from him is he's gay. His flamboyant personality and colorful dressage does little to persuade me otherwise, LOL.

I'm sure there's more examples, but I'm just going over the few that I explicitly remember. I love reading the manga, and I wish it updated more than once a month 😭 but sometimes the wait is worth it.

Malleus doesn’t think about sex all the time, but he gets sudden sexual cravings sometimes – he is a young dragon, after all. This is one of the reasons behind his sudden disappearances: sometimes there are days when he just wants to be alone, because this longing and thirst drive him insane, but Lilia is busy and Sebek isn’t always the best option. Malleus doesn’t masturbate though – it doesn’t feel the same, so he believes it’s not worth it.

Malleus is a pillow princess. He takes the initiative too sometimes, but he prefers to tease and provoke and then enjoy the consequences of his provocations. So when he gets Lilia either way too aroused or angry (or both) and Lilia stops being careful with his body, Malleus loves it the most. Malleus is also one of the most capricious “bottom” characters: his mood could shift very suddenly and he either gets way more aroused than his lover expects (although Lilia is used to everything) or sometimes loses his desire and wants to be left alone. The latter scenario is rare though… what isn’t rare is for him to get horny and a bit clingy even though he was arguing with Lilia just a moment ago.

This is something that stresses Sebek out a lot, because he is very afraid of angering Malleus, and he is way more stressed about it than he should be. Because what frustrates Malleus is the fact that Sebek holds back. He knows why it happens, but this is probably one of the main reasons why Malleus doesn’t treat Sebek with his attention all the time… this, and the fact that he’ll get way too clingy lol

But in the heat of the moment Malleus really loves it when Sebek gets clingy and his brain gets all clouded and horny and he doesn’t know what he’s doing anymore. These moments, when Malleus is being bitten, crushed under Sebek’s heavy body and frankly disrespected, are what makes the whole thing worth it, especially if he can tease Sebek about it afterwards.

One of his most favourite birthday gifts was something given to him by Lilia a couple of years ago. Well, it wasn’t really an item: Lilia just spent the entire day with him in his bed. This was one of the most indulgent things Lilia has ever done to him, and Malleus was very pleased for an entire week after that, even though his body was very sore (he could’ve healed himself, but he didn’t want to <3). Lilia doesn’t know how he himself survived that…

Intimacy is very important to Malleus, and usually he prefers absolute privacy with no one interrupting him and his lover (in fact, he hates being interrupted). Sexuality Headcanon:

I think if he really likes someone, he doesn't care about gender (like he would like Kenjaku no matter what gender or sex they currently have), but he generally prefers men. In his everyday life he essentially lives and is treated like a gay men, so that's what he mostly identifies as. Like how despite what his partners say he shows no interest or plans to ever marry and have children, it seems to be entirely out of the question for him. You could say that he wants to dedicate himself to comedy fully, but most successful comedians are married, so that's not really an argument. And while having unstable income while you are still relatively unknown is a factor, the reason he is so driven to make it isn't so he can support the typical heterosexual family. Same with his classmate in university, who teases him for being unpopular with girls, which Takaba doesn't care about at all. So he definitely seems used to being seen as some flavour of queer.

I also have this headcanon that Centerman not only made him laugh for the first time, but was also his gay awakening. I mean if you look at the constume and some of the sketches...young Takaba saw Centerman spread his ass cheeks on TV and suddenly felt very funny.

Gender Headcanon:

I think he's mostly cis, but likes to dabble in gender non-conformity by wearing some make-up or dresses both for sketches and privately. I mean, he clearly likes dressing up and had no problem playing around with gender with Kenjaku. I don't think it would've bothered him much if Kenjaku had temporarily given him some boobs. He'd just play along and have fun.

A ship I have with said character:

Pinchan or TakaKen (very surprising answer I know). I didn't expect it at all when the fight started, but those two have become so perfect together in such a short period of time, it's insane. One of the few Kenjaku ships, where I can say that they are actually making each other better. Kenjaku had an immensily good impact on Takaba's mental health. Helped him out of a crisis, encouraged his comedy style and made him reconnect with aspects of himself he tried to suppress. I'm curious how this will develop when Takaba wakes up again and finds out his new partner is dead.

A BROTP I have with said character:

Hazenoki. We've only seen a little bit of them, but I love their interactions. Somehow Takaba is very good at buddying up with mass murderers. Hazenoki is throwing his body parts around and tries to kill Takaba and he's like "friends? 🥺"

A NOTP I have with said character:

Megumi. It's one of those ships where I genuinely don't even want to look at it. I just can't stand it at all. Thankfully the main shipper of it here on tumblr has me blocked and it's not that popular on twt either, so I rarely have to see it.

A random headcanon:

Takaba has connections to the drag scene and sometimes performs with them. That's how he gets some of his costumes, make-up and dresses. They also showed him how to took (like the original Centerman), but most of the time he doesn't bother to. Understandable because doing that for most of the Culling Game would be very painful and unhealthy.

General Opinion over said character:

I used to think he was a bit annoying and I didn't see much point in him (although his first introduction was very intriguing), but he's really grown on me and unexpectantly become one of my faves.

Takako

Sexuality Headcanon:

Hmm, hard to really pin down. I think she also hasn't had much time to really explore her sexuality like many aspects of her identity, but I'd say she prefers girls. The men she's been surrounded with don't make anything else very tempting. I think she could use a break from them for a while.

Gender Headcanon:

Woman, but unlike with your regular cis person this has actually been a choice for her to some degree and something she discovered about herself. Of course she has always faced sexism, but due to being robbed of her identity when serving the Fujiwara, she had to redefine or discover womanhood for herself. She does it for example by highlighting her body and not hiding it anymore. Being naked and confident in the body she has is freedom for her and shows her individuality. Her CT can be used to hide herself, which I think she did a lot while working for the Fujiwara, the entire idea was for her to essentially not exist, but she has turned it into something liberating for her.

A ship I have with said character:

Yorozu. They lived at the same time in the same location, but with wildly different experiences. I've talked before a bunch about how I think Yorozu with her nakedness and brash attitude might've been an inspiration for Takako. She was in a similar position to Yorozu, but Yorozu was able to spin it to her advantage and actually gain power and status from it, while Takako was only exploited. I hope that whenever we get another Heian flashback that we will see these two again.

btw, I got this wonderful Uro x Yorozu comic when participating in an exchange event. It's fantastic, you should check it out! Made me love the two all the more.

A BROTP I have with said character:

Kenjaku I guess? Unfortunately, there aren't that many characters she's close to. I think it's interesting that she doesn't see them as solely manipulative and has a kind of positive attitude towards them. I could see them talking politics together and also Kenjaku riling her up to accept a second life shortly before she will be executed.

A NOTP I have with said character:

Yuuta...I don't think I need to say much about that. I already hated their interactions in Sendai. The fact this is even a thing and mostly seems to consist of Yuuta objectifying her or "putting her in her place" already makes me want to bleach my brain...

A random headcanon:

I think she used to wear something similar to shinobi wear while working for the Fujiwara. She can conceal herself with her CT, but she would also cover up her body from top to bottom except for maybe the eyes, so there would be nothing anyone could identify her by.

General Opinion over said character:

Always loved her. I hope she survives the Culling Game and is able to start a new life. Out of all the reincarnated sorcerers she deserves it the most. I mean, she doesn't kill people if she doesn't have to, so there's no danger coming from her. Wishful thinking, but maybe she'll make it out by staying low...

I will be honest, I only have one hope for Hazbin Hotel, one thing I am begging them for and if they do, I will be the happiest person alive even if the whole thing ends up being shit, and that is to make Vaggie a genuinely complex and interesting character.

It is nothing new that A23 tends to have a certain reputation when it comes to female characters, that being that they are either shallow, vilified or get shafted for the sake of other characters, and while I see where people are coming from, I also think that it makes sense that Helluva Boss doesn't focus on its female characters. Helluva Boss is a show about Blitzø first and foremost and Moxie and Millie are mostly just there to act as Blitzø's want. He wants to have a relationship like what they have, even if the rest of Hell finds it to be appalling, but he isn't willing to work for it in the same way that Moxie is, for example. Moxie is a flawed character, there is no denying that, but he always comes around, realizes his mistakes and apologizes for it, while Millie is probably the only stable person in all of hell. She needs to be that pillar that holds not just Moxie and their relationship together. With that in mind, while I do wish Millie would have more development and we at least got to hear from her what she feels like being the one responsible for holding this ship together, I understand why she has not been the main focus. Loona and Octavia are both on the same ship where they are the 'child' characters. They represent the respective best part of their fathers, and while they have their little character arcs, they are mostly there to humamize Stolas and Blitzø. Then there is Stella who is just a bitch, and honestly, good for her. Sometimes it is fun to have characters who are just petty villains, and if there is one place where that works, that is hell.

My main point is, Helluva Boss is, at its core, a show about a relationship between two male characters, so it makes sense why they would get the most screen time, which unfortunately means other characters get shafted.

And then we have Hazbin Hotel, a show where the main character is supposed to be a female lead, Charlie and so far we are four episodes in and the show has been about literally everyone in the hotel other than her. In fact, I would argue that Charlie has been the main antagonist of the show so far since in almost every episode it is her going cartoonishly 'nice' to try and help other characters that leads to the main conflicts/problems, which it sucks since this feels like such a departure from the original pilot where Charlie was an awkward, but well meaning person trying to make the best out of a terrible situation. Now, she just feels like new sponge bob essentially, where she is just annoying everyone with her kindness. When all that the audience is getting from your main character is annoyance, you have a bit of a problem.

And then we have Vaggie and out of all of the characters, Vaggie is a very interesting one. In the original pilot, Vaggie is treated as a punching bag for the majority of it or as a minor source of conflict for Charlie, however, in the show, she has been treated with a lot more nuance so far. Sure, she is still bickering with Angel Dust and she despise Alastor, but you can feel that there is a sense of respect between them, particularly between Alastor and Vaggie. Not only that, but the fact that she seems to be coming from a militaristic background and seems to be the actual voice of reason, albeit a skeptical one makes her the most interesting character to me. I know that Vivzy and A23 can write good, compelling male queer characters, I have seen them do it in Helluva Boss and I will be frank, I still think all the characters and concept in that show are so much better than anything Hazbin has produced, so I don't need another show focusing on male struggles. All that I want to see is one well written queer female character. That is the one thing Helluva Boss has not done that Hazbin Hotel can do better. Make Vaggie an exterminator angel who decided to stay in hell, or a fallen angel or literally anything as long as you make it interesting. Please, make her more than just Charlie's girlfriend, make her an actual character. That is all that I am asking.

Rodolfo and Gaz are both captured during a mission and the kidnapper decides to play a game. While he gets set up, Rodolfo and Gaz decide to get to know each other better.

Gaz blinked as the bag was pulled off his head. It was a dingy room, one he didn’t recognize. Which made sense, he’d be concerned if he did recognize it. He was still in Las Almas and he’d never been anywhere out here so... this made sense.

Even still, he didn’t like not being familiar with his surroundings.

He took in what he could while his kidnapper was preoccupied with a tray nearby. There was always a moving cart or a tray nearby. 

He was sitting down, tied in a chair. He felt warmth at his back, the person smaller than him since he could feel their head fall back against his neck. There was only one real option that it could be. “Rodolfo?” He asked, carefully, keeping his voice low.

“Sh... Keep your voice low...” Rodolfo replied back, shifting a little.

Gaz nodded and went quiet, watching whoever had them move around and arrange things. He felt stupid. It’d been so clear that going into that warehouse would lead to an ambush but he and Rodolfo had needed to clear it for the mission.

They had came back shortly after Hassan to help with the arrest of El Sin Nombre and to hang low while they figured out how to take down General Shepherd. As such, they’d gone on a few missions here and there.

The Los Vaqueros primarily did drug raids, it seemed. That’s what they’d been on this time. A simple drug raid. Rodolfo and Gaz had split off from Price and Alejandro, who they’d been on the mission with, in order to cover more ground. They’d went into a small warehouse where they’d seen a few drug runners run into.

But, as they’d went in, they’d been ambushed immediately and knocked out. God, Gaz felt so stupid for falling for it, too.

“You-” The kidnapper stood in front of him, suddenly. “Do you speak English?”

“Yes.” Gaz knew better than to lie or get contrarian with the kidnappers. Even if it’s horrible, you work with them. They will get bored and either abandon you or kill you. In certain cases, both are desirable.

The kidnapper nodded. “We recognize the other. Rodolfo Parra. What a gem to have fallen into our hands.”

“Alejandro will not forgive this.” Rodolfo sounded exhausted and leaned his head back against Gaz’s neck, gently. Gaz put his head back against Rodolfo’s, closing his eyes. 

The kidnapper laughed. “Oh I count on it. We’ll kill him as well. El Sin Nombre will be so proud. Regardless, El Sin Nombre only wants one of you to die, the other is allowed to go free.”

Gaz tried to hide his frown and he felt Rodolfo tense behind him. El Sin Nombre was still being held, there was no way Valeria had given the order. Actually, she’d been nothing but pleasant to Gaz. Valeria, Rodolfo, and Alejandro sometimes treated him like he was a kid but not necessarily like he was useless. He just noticed they were gentler, softer, they were kinder.

Rodolfo was like that in general but he was bit more personal with Gaz. However, Gaz had watched Alejandro bark orders to the Vaqueros and then turn around and gently ask Gaz to do the same thing. He had to admit, it was endearing. They felt like older siblings from movies, not necessarily real older siblings.

“I need to go talk to the boss.” The kidnapper finally said. “When I get back, you both will choose one of you to die.”

Gaz frowned deeply. He didn’t like that. They left. Barely did anything else, just left. He took a deep breath. “Rodolfo?”

“Yes?” Rodolfo was quiet, he still sounded exhausted. 

“Pick me.” Gaz didn’t mind dying. He wasn’t that important to anyone but Price and... Alex. But, he thought Alex would understand.

“Don’t be stupid, hermano.” Rodolfo’s voice had a smile in it. “Lets not discuss this right now. There’s no point.”

“Okay...” Gaz frowned deeply but he wouldn’t argue with Rodolfo. Apparently Rodolfo had been kidnapped many times, apparently, so he trusted that Rodolfo knew what he was doing. Gaz had been kidnapped a few times but... he generally tried to stay un-kidnapped.

Rodolfo sighed. “I hope you don’t mind the intrusive question but I... I saw a ring on your finger.”

“Oh, it’s not intrusive.” Gaz smiled. He didn’t mind talking about his fiancé, he loved Alex. “Yes, I’m engaged... We were going to get fully married when this all blew over.”

Rodolfo nodded. “Were you going to have a ceremony, or?”

“Yes. Alex is insistent. He wants to have at least a small one.” Gaz thought about the plans Alex had made once he’d revealed himself as alive. They’d planned to have a small ceremony, just a quick one with all of their family members and friends. Which weren’t many, admittedly. Well, Gaz planned to invite Soap and Ghost, and Rodolfo and Alejandro now. 

Rodolfo nodded again, probably only doing that so Gaz had a physical response. “Tell me about it, hermano.”

Gaz frowned before shrugging. “We just wanted a small one. We found a wedding package that would set the whole thing up for us for fairly cheap, though both of us could have afforded a big one if we wanted. The colors were gold and blue, apparently. Midnight blue. Alex loved it.”

“Alex is your fiancé, yes?”

“Yes. He and I met on a mission. We kept our relationship quiet for a while but... we thought he died and after he came back, neither of us thought keeping it quiet was so important anymore.” Gaz flushed and sighed, smiling softly. “So... we told everyone.”

“Tell me about him.” Rodolfo murmured and Gaz could again hear a smile in his voice. He hadn’t seen Rodolfo smile that much, but even still, he could pull it to memory. It was a fairly distinct smile, maybe because it was so rare.

“He’s... amazing. He’s strong and he’s so smart. He... has this way of moving when he talks that’s just... You should meet him. I think you’d like him. He’s a lot like Alejandro just... a bit more serious. Not as playful. I’m not either, though, so I think it evens out.” Gaz shrugged and closed his eyes, thinking about Alex. “You and Alejandro are married, right?”

“We are. We’ve been married for close to... three years now.”

“What is it like? Was it terrifying?”

“Oh, absolutely. Alejandro wanted a big ceremony and getting married like that was... so scary. I don’t generally like getting up in front of people but... I’d do it again. Happiest day of my life. It was wonderful...”

Gaz could hear the wistfullness in Rodolfo’s voice. “Any um... advice? You two seem generally happy.”

“You’re going to have bad days.” Rodolfo shrugged. “You’re going to have days where you hate each other and you’re going to consider divorce. Accept that early on and it gets easier. I think some couples... get divorced on their first thought of it because the fact they consider it is so shocking to them that they think they have to but... you don’t. And... consider marriage counselling. Even before your first problem, just consider marriage counselling. It helps. A lot.”

Gaz accepted that advice. Even if he wasn’t sure he’d be leaving this. “How long were you and Alejandro together before you got married?”

“Two years.” Rodolfo nodded. “We were engaged for half of it. We’ve been friends since we were young children and... we both just sort of knew when we wanted to get married. We had a... complicated relationship before that, anyway.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“We were... how do you say it in English...  friends with benefits?, mostly. It was Alejandro’s idea. We were both in love with the other and willing to take whatever we could get but neither of us really could accept the idea that the other was in love, too.” Rodolfo leaned his head back on Gaz’s shoulder and Gaz moved his head so he could. “I was so insecure. So much more emotional than I am, now.”

“That sounds like a shit situation.” Gaz couldn’t imagine. He didn’t think he’d be able to handle an only fuck buddies situation. That sounded like shit. “How did you guys get together from that?”

“Valeria. She shot me off a roof and it sort of set off a domino reaction. Is that the phrase?”

“Sounds like it, yeah.” Gaz laughed. “I think chain reaction is fine, too.”

“Thank you. Yeah, she tried to break us up, ironically, but... it ended up pushing us together.”

“But you two are happy now?” Gaz asked, softly. 

“Completely.” Rodolfo nodded. “We would be lost without the other.”

“Pick me.” Gaz sighed. “You are so important to Los Vaqueros, Rodolfo. Alejandro needs you, the Vaqueros need you. Even Valeria as... much as she’d probably deny it, it’s clear she cares about you.”

“Price needs you, hermano.”

“Price has lost men before. He’ll move on.” Gaz shrugged. “He’ll understand.”

“Your fiance needs you. You have a wedding to go to.” 

“He’ll understand as well. You are much more important than me.” Gaz pleaded. He knew Rodolfo needed to walk away from this. He didn’t know Alejandro that well, but even he knew now that Alejandro would be tearing apart Las Almas looking for Rodolfo.

Alex would understand if Gaz didn’t come back from a mission. That was a risk every mission. That was their life. This one, especially, it was not guaranteed Gaz would be coming home. “Rodolfo, pick me.”

Rodolfo sighed and was quiet for a moment. “Alright. I will. I’m... sorry.”

“Don’t be. I’ve made my peace with it.” Gaz shook his head. He had. He made his peace on every mission that he may not walk away from this one. He tried, certainly, but he did his best to keep this in the back of his mind. 

Rodolfo was quiet again. The kidnapper came back in, Gaz could hear him behind him. “So, have you chosen?”

“Yes.” Gaz spoke up before Rodolfo could. “We have.”

“We know this may be difficult of a decision so... We’re going to give you a system. Sadly, as I said, one of you two must die. Orders are orders.”

Gaz rolled his eyes. He just wanted to get this over with. Rodolfo needed to get back as soon as possible. “Can’t we just say who?”

“No. I like games. This game is easy. You have enough room in your binds to lift your hands. You will hold up one finger or two fingers. If both of you hold up one finger, I will shoot the Brit. You are British, correct?”

“Yes.” Gaz grit out, glaring at him. 

“Wonderful.” The kidnapper smiled. “If one of you holds up two fingers and the other holds up one, then I will shoot Rodolfo. And if both of you hold up two fingers, then I get to choose.”

“Luiz, why are you doing this? We both know this is not on El Sin Nombre’s orders.” Gaz frowned when he heard Rodolfo speak. He knew him?

Luiz’s face dropped and he rounded to Rodolfo’s side. Gaz heard a smacking noise and he flinched. “You do not know of what you speak.”

Rodolfo was silent and Gaz squeezed his eyes shut. He took deep breaths, again just wanting this to be over with. Rodolfo silenced and Gaz felt him take a deep breath. “You are right, Luiz. I don’t.”

“You don’t.” Luiz confirmed and then came back around. “Well? Make your choice.”

Gaz held up one finger. He had no intention of pulling the wool over Rodolfo’s eyes. Rodolfo needed to go home, not Gaz. Rodolfo was needed and yeah, it would crush Alex and Gaz hated that he was doing that to him but... Two people compared to all of the Los Vaqueros? It was obvious who was more needed.

Luiz didn’t comment on it, like Gaz expected, and instead went around behind him. “Make your choice.” He told Rodolfo.

Gaz took a deep breath when Luiz hummed and chuckled. “How unfortunate.” Was all he said. Gaz rolled his eyes. He was the one doing it. He watched Luiz go to the tray from before and pick up a gun.

“Gaz?” Rodolfo spoke softly

“Yes?” Gaz frowned, unsure why he was talking again.

“Would I have been invited to your wedding?”

“Of course. You and Alejandro both.” Gaz didn’t have any doubts about it. They had became friends. He knew Alex would like them. 

“Thank you... Tell my husband I love him, please. Tell him I’m sorry but... He’ll understand. I know he will.”

Gaz’s heart sank. “Rodolfo- Rodolfo what did you do?!”

“You have your entire life ahead of you. Granted, I’m only 32 but... That’s more than 26. I’ve had my wedding. You deserve to get to go to yours.”

Gaz shook his head. “No, no-” His voice grew frantic and he tried to think of some way to undo this. “Rodolfo, please, don’t make me tell Alejandro that you’re dead. Rodolfo- Rodolfo please.” He pleaded, his eyes filling with tears.

“Sh... It’ll be okay, I promise.” Rodolfo’s voice was clearly trying to be soothing but Gaz couldn’t accept that. “I’m sorry I won’t be at your wedding, Gaz. It sounds like it would be wonderful.”

Gaz yanked at the binds as best as he could, trying so desperately hard to do something. “We had an agreement! You said you would choose me!”

Luiz laughed. “Oh Rodolfo, so self sacrificial. Poor Alejandro.” He went behind Gaz and Gaz squeezed his eyes shut, yanking hard at his binds again.

“I don’t regret my decision, Gaz. You deserve to live.” Rodolfo’s voice was calm. There were no tears. Just... resignation. 

Gaz knew he couldn’t plead anymore, but he wanted to try. He wanted to beg Luiz to shoot him instead, because Rodolfo needed to go home. Rodolfo needed to go back. 

But it was done. Gaz took a deep breath.

He waited. 

Then, he heard the gun shot. Rodolfo jerking behind him and then his body separating from Gaz’s as he likely slumped over. 

Gaz imagined what the next twenty four hours would look like. Him going to Alejandro and having to explain what happened. He’d have to tell him that he tried so hard to make Rodolfo choose him but Rodolfo hadn’t, he’d chosen himself.

He’d have to look him in the eyes and apologize for being alive and he’d mean it too. Because how do you explain to someone that their husband is dead because you aren’t?

Luiz came around to the front of Gaz and chuckled. “I guess you get to go free.”

“You’re a bastard.” Gaz told him, finally opening his eyes.

“Yeah, maybe.” Luiz shrugged and then he hit Gaz over the head. 

The last though Gaz had as he was knocked out was, I’m sorry. But he wasn’t even sure exactly what he was sorry for.

Complaining about amount of fanfic the ship you like has: a complicated discussion

Before we start, a little explanation for something that will come up in this post as it's fandom specific: identity v has something called skin ship - ships between characters having different in game skins (if you've played games with this mechanic you were probably aware of it).

Now, onto the actual start of the post:

At one point you've probably searched a ship that, whether on here or on Twitter, and you might have come across a post like this:

"Why isn't there more fanfics of (ship name)? I want more fics of them!"

This is the part where some people roll their eyes and even maybe reply or report the post/tweet saying:

"Write it yourself."

This is a discussion that comes back every month like clockwork. It happened around two weeks ago when the ao3 ship stats got announced, and then a few days later due to someone complaining about the lack of femslash ships in a fandom. We can talk about this all day long, but we're here today for something, while still on this topic, slightly different.

Imagine the scenario:

You are one of the few writers for a ship. the whole ao3 tag is filled with your work. I'm talking 95% of the fics are written by you. You love this ship a lot, like really a lot.

But at one point, you'll hit a wall. You will be burned out, you will want to just sit down and read a fic for that same ship written by someone else.

But you can't. Because you are one of the few people who cares.

It doesn't feel that great, right? Sometimes, you want to just unwind and relax, not have to write something to enjoy it.

So, obviously, the first thing that comes to mind is expressing disappointment.

And let me tell you, I feel this.

I will be using my previous main fandom (bungou stray dogs) and my current one (identity v) to express sympathy for you. My main ship was a rarepair in the bsd fandom. out of all 58 fics in that ship tag, I wrote 40 of them. When you do the math, that's approximately 71% of the tag filled with fics written by me.

My current interest is identity v. One of my favourite ships (joscarl), while one of the more popular ones, doesn't have as active of a tag as before (different story for a different day) but I love it nonetheless. However, I also happen to enjoy any skin ship that involves the blindspot skin. This is a controversial choice, as pretty much any ship with that skin is considered problematic, but I don't particularly care as I'm not forcing anyone to like it.

I am the one person who writes fics (and wrote for my previous ship) for them because I enjoy them. But after time, I just don't want to always be the one to do it.

I want to sit down and read something written by a different person. And yea, you can go to jp sites and use google translate to get a fic to read (even if the translation is a bit wonky) but do I really want to do that every time? Can a person not want to just sit down and enjoy something?

This sort of complaining, while still complaining, isn't really the same as the first situation I described. One is a person (who probably isn't a fic writer) complaining about something they like not having more fics and the other is a person actively creating fanwork for themselves, getting burned out and not wanting to always have to create food they want.

While at its core it is the same thing, there is a difference, and I don't believe they should be treated the same way.

As someone who creates fanworks, I love the process of creating things for the characters and ships I enjoy. But there are just so many things that factor into this and sometimes I just don't want to do that. Sometimes I just want to be the audience who enjoys something, like the people enjoying my fics do when I write them.

I hope this resonated with someone at least. This was more of an open discussion that I would like for people to see and also bring their thoughts into. You're free to respond to this however you like as I always love a good discussion as long as it's polite!

It's a little awkward that she has a teeny tiny crush on Lena and Lena thinks she's a robot. But Kara can deal with that. It's not like Lena could do anything even if she did know Kara was a person, Lex made sure of that.

So what are two best friends to do but get a quick divorce and pretend they didn't have sex or actually mean it when they said they loved each other. Finding out they can't get a quick divorce because of some poor wording in a clause of the Alien Amnesty Act really doesn't help with this new plan.

You will just roll your eyes and laugh at his face falling in realization that he screwed up.

He tends to screw up at times but always tries to make it up to you! Like if he’s late or has to sadly cancel a date, he makes sure to take you out somewhere else the next day. Or gift you something sweet.

Because he notices the little things every now and then. If you pass by a jewelry shop, seeing you eye a bracelet, a wristwatch and or a pair of earrings? He will add that to his shopping cart and buy them for a birthday or an ‘just because’ gift.

Or if it’s allergy season, he will stock up on items needed. Buy you a need pair of sunglasses or socks.

However like anyone in the face of the earth, Jason tends to be forgetful sometimes but he always tries to remember.

But thing stays the same and he never forgets is to kiss your forehead while mumbling a soft “Morning” or “Good night, baby.”

A ship that deserves more love: Lorenz and Marianne. He’s a bit of an arrogant jerk in the first act of the game, but he learns a lot of humility without denouncing his original self-confidence or personality. She’s very shy and self-deprecating, but becomes more confident and secure in who she is. He would treat her so well, she’d bring some of his grand ideas down to earth, and in general I think they’d support each other and just be very wholesome.

A ship that you like, even though it could never work in canon: Hapi and Felix! :) I think Felix in canon is a little too wrapped up in his “I hate Dimitri” drama, but I want to see them sitting in the corner making fun of everyone. Felix is kind of angry wet cat man all the time, and Hapi has learned to suppress her emotions because she accidentally summons monsters sometimes. I think they deserve to be a little bit awful to everyone but each other.

An old ship: my very first ship for this game that I actually cared about was Linhardt and Byleth. That’s my end goal for the Crimson Flower route—I know that Edelgard is the main choice for them, but look. Linhardt is smart, sleepy, hates blood, and in general just wants to be left alone to do research and fish for his whole life. In Crimson Flower, Byleth regains their humanity, topples the theocracy, and the country is left to be guided and reform. In every other route, Byleth becomes archbishop because they have the goddess’s power. I think that pairing Linhardt with Byleth in that route is an extension of the idea of Byleth rejecting “destiny” and choosing to be human, to not do anything else world-shattering, to just live.

I was originally going to play Darkside since Code Veronica is a tank control but the copy I have was scratched upon arrival and doesn't work past a certain mark. I had no interest in this one since I had already seen gameplay of all three of its titles but I realized during one of my replays of RE3 Remake that I keep coming back even though I know every nook and cranny as if I'm looking for something that wasn't there before like new content. There will never be an expansion to that game until I started thinking, what about the Umbrella Chronicles version?

So, I bought this game just for that section. Unfortunately you can't just pick one game or the other, with Darkside, it was one continuous story modern day with flashbacks to each game but with this one, it's continuous but doesn't have a main story to tie it all together or add to it so you play these three congruently like they were the actual titles. So I'll just split it up that way.

I was never a fan of RE0, I more or less exclude it from my canon, but I really wish that the train idea would've worked at least as well as Revelations' ship idea. It's the same here but it feels a bit better because you're actually seeing ahead of you.

It's on rails but you can choose this way or that way sometimes and it will have a different outcome with what you encounter. I remember being able to see the opposite player or NPC in Darkside but in this one, it just seems like whoever you choose just talks to themself and the other very rarely responds back or you see them outside of a cutscene which makes it feel a bit lonely. It really doesn't affect gameplay at all other than piece of mind, no different weapons, no swapped out dialogue so it still thinks you're playing as one instead of the other "Go down there" and your character jumps but you're the one that said it. Herbs aren't treated as stock, you pick them up, you use them, first aid sprays are kept until you 'die' and it basically acts as a second chance.

The environments are shootable and through that some give different badges and "points" for a report card at the end of each level, some give items such as ammo or healing too. As far as length of each section, for reference, Resi0 had 3 levels, it was a pretty mummarized (get it?) version of the events of the game though it didn't exactly have a whole lot going on in the first place. The length of those levels can be varied, this is more arcade like so there's constant action. I'm not sure how to gauge that but it took a little over an hour to get the Resi0 portion done and oh, what's this? Once you complete a section, you can either move onto the next or you get "bonus levels" depending on what ranks you got which are based around how fast you mow down since it's on rails, actual number of hits, critical hits, objects destroyed, and files. Which for Resi0 you unlock "Beginnings" or where Wesker was when it was all happening. They don't add a whole lot but if you know the brand then it's like "Oh my, Wesker vs a prototype tyrant" but that's about it.

The game can be off at times, I guess because of motion controls but I'll give a few examples. The final Queen Leech boss has you aim for the mouth but for one thing, this thing is made of mouth so you'd assume it's the one facing you which also happens to be the narrowest. The "head" if you will, but I found myself unloading on this thing, reticle directly in the eye but it wouldn't register as that hit box. Hit a little more to the left of the head and that did the trick but it was finnicky and the monster is always moving so it's kind of like testing to see where the hit box is next and it's not purposely designed that way, watch any PS3 walkthrough or like I said, the characters tell you what to do in that moment, it's just a flaw in its coding. I hit a spider the fell into another spider but the body didn't decompose yet so it was invincible because I was hitting the corpse's hit box instead (why you can do that, I don't know, it should be finished at that point) but that happened a few times.

They take a lot of wrong turns to dead ends and turn around to fight more enemies, it's actually almost comical how lost and in circles you go. Dodge commands won't always appear if you're shooting and really I have no explanation or strategy for that, the point is to shoot. Waving the Wii Remote to dodge (also a reaction command) was hit or miss because you normally have to be completely stopped in order to make it work and be able to catch the entire thing, not just willy nilly or dare even hold the B button while you wiggle. What wording, am I right?

At this point, I wasn't really a fan of the game, I liked seeing some of my favorite scenes in better graphics but it's all nulled by its gameplay and cliffnotes story, making it an FPS takes away from its characters because you never get to see any interaction and that's half of what makes RE work.

As far as the actual RE3 content, like I said, the story takes a dip. But your goal is to get to the helicopter from the very start, first cutscene, but with Carlos and that's your overall goal, there's no "but Nemesis stopped the first helicopter", no "He killed Brad" I don't think, no Nicholai either (except in the collectible notes for some reason??). So while he's big on screen in first person, he's not menacing enough but it's hard not to love his Darth Vader voice in this edition. And it's contradicting that Carlos is there under Umbrella to help, Jill is there under Stars to help but they're both just after the helicopter at the same time.

It slowly but surely made me happy a little bit though because I was getting to see these environments that I was familiar with and how they drew in comparison to the remakes like the police station and the train station as well as what differences there were and the added flashlight for some segments. For the last level of that section, you finally get introduced to and fight Nemy which he follows you for the whole level like he should, really cool. I even played that level twice. The actual battle portion is very reminiscent, you can see where they got some inspiration as far as him running in a circle and stuff.

The bonus isn't "more RE3" which is disappointing for me seeing as I bought it for that, but it's actually an Ada story that I really liked, so there. Weird that it's in this game seeing as it takes place after RE2 but…ok. That's my Ada. I had issues with the way she was in RE4 Remake and to a degree RE4 but this showed me that there's still something out there for her character that I might enjoy.

If you finish all of that including bonus levels and stuff you get one last section of the game that's original. Chris and Jill infiltrate an Umbrella facility that's working on a new B.O.W., and uh…wait is that the scene from the movie? But there's a lot of beeping for the one level that doesn't even stop for cutscenes, I know it's an alarm but it's just stupid to have constantly blaring while you're playing even as loud as your guns are. Wesker pulls the "it was me all along" and you see his perspective for the bonus levels. Yeah, it's all contained so it's nothing all that great other than what was teased a few of the other bonus levels. So you had a continuity side story but you didn't know it because it took place at the end.

Hunk also gets his notorious mercenaries type thing with more dialogue than any other level, can you believe it?

Should you never had played the actual games, you're not going to get the series speedrun that you're hoping for out of this game, which makes me glad I didn't shell out for Darkside to be underwhelmed by Code Veronica's stuff before I knew it at all. I don't regret the buy just because of that but other than a few levels, I didn't really care about it enough, I was glad when it was done.

BRAVERY. Aevis is a confident young man with a natural affinity for leadership. He does his best to keep the gang together even in rough patches. The type of guy to drop everything to help you out, and always has advice when you need it. He’s on the academy’s volleyball team, and may as well be their ace player! Aevis’s signature Pokemon are Decidueye and Lucario.

--- Axel (He/him)

CHAOS. Axel is the most mischievous of the group, no doubt about it. One could compare him to that of an Impidimp in personality. Always up for a joke, beloved by all. He’s very fond of his sister (who will often be the subject of his pranks.) Due to his excellent acting, he’s actually in the academy’s theater program! One day Axel’s chaos may be his own demise, and he often has some difficulty reading the room, but overall cares deeply for his friends as much as he pokes at them. Axel’s signature Pokemon are Feraligatr and Grimmsnarl.

--- Ariana (She/her)

HAPPINESS. Ariana is very peppy, and very scholarly. Her spirit shines brightly, and her optimism helps to lift the mood of any friend who may be down or such. You might think the pep would make you weary, but that tends to be quite the opposite. She’s always open to her friends who need help, and is on the academy’s cheerleading team! The main organizer of any group outings, whether that be to the mall or wherever else! Maybe she needs to take a bit for herself sometimes too. Ariana’s signature Pokemon are Blaziken and Altaria.

--- Aevia (She/her)

TRANQUILITY. Aevia is a little timid and anxious. She prefers to have her space, or only share it with people she’s familiar with. She gets rather nervous around new individuals-- enough to accidentally smack on instinct or such, apparently. Aevia is insanely talented- particularly in music. She knows how to play the Piano extremely well-- and bake excellently too. She has some issues... but she’s very sweet. Aevia’s signature Pokemon are Samurott and Lapras

--- Alain (They/she)

WRATH. Alain is rather scary to most. They’re rather aggressive to practically anyone at first, but once you get close to them, they tend to soften up a lot more (reluctantly, she may claim.) They are extremely protective of those she cares about, and will quite literally physically fight anyone who harms them. They’re actually rather creative. Their other talents include skateboarding/skating and graffiti art-- and are most often found sitting in silence with Aero. Best to give them their space. Alain’s signature Pokemon are Tazer (Partner-Pika) and Kangaskhan.

--- Aero (They/he)

STRENGTH. Aero is quite studious and cool. Rather laid back. They tend to prefer their space a lot, yet he’s a pretty strong people magnet regardless. People feel safe in their presence, and that is no different when they’re with their friends. Strong and silent, the popularity is to his chagrin. They just wanted to live their life with Alain. Aero took up being the academy’s star boxer, and is the strongest trainer of the group. Strength, however, comes in both physique and heart. Aero’s signature Pokemon are Delphox and Salamence.

Don't feel like making individual posts so a smattering of Unseelie, generals and their king headcanons let go--

One of the few places that the Unseelie and Seelie are alike are their views on nudity, sex and love. Unseelie maybe being a little riskier than Seelie.

The Unseelie did have noble houses and the like but when Bal overthrew the king, he also disposed of the nobility. Any remnants abandoned ship and/or have found someone in their family to make the king's good graces.

The generals are either Balmoral's strongest warriors or his most clever advisors. All have to have some competency to protect themselves.

Balmoral has gotten the nickname of the King of Twilight, as starry skies and the nightscapes are apart of his motifs and it isn't a secret he favors them.

The Unseelie actually have a lot of participation/observation in the Corpsevain Run as it's more amusing way of dealing with criminals and because the Unseelie just enjoy that sort of thing.

Siubhan does have deer hooved legs, similar to to a faun but does glamor herself sometimes.

At the time of writing, Somairle is the youngest of Balmoral's close contacts and is treated as such.

The main city of the Unseelie is a citadel that is 'underground.' There is the Winter Palace, which is only really used during the colder months and is on the surface in the mortal plane. It is disguised through magic but humans can still stumble in.

Balmoral does not like being touched by his hair to the point even servants are not really allowed to style it. Mhoirbheinn is a notable exception to this.

Stability has been Balmoral's focus and why he has been absent from much of the debacles going on with other realms and rulers. He has recently considered it stable enough to be able to work on expanding from the connections already forged.

Mhoirbheinn has been the one to remind Balmoral of looking further ahead and establish his succession. Balmoral personally doesn't like the idea of a bloodline succession as that means he'd have to have children and they'd have to be of excellent standard. He has put forward meritocracy for if there is a reestablishment of nobility and for his own position.

Fae purity was more of a commodity to nobility than it was for the common folk. But there is a certain amount of pride that Unseelie have in whatever heritages they have and there are some 'rivalries' that do get looked down upon. Mortals being basically the universally reviled.

Children are considered gifts in the Unseelie. Even if the child is nor particularly 'cared for,' no one is ever gonna like throw away a child. For fae, it is difficult to conceive as is and it considered a waste.

All Unseelie do have compulsory service to the military. How long is dependent on what you are since it is unfair for say a human to serve as long as a fae.

The Unseelie is quite a bit more in tune with the world due to them not being sealed off and their generally more 'cobbled together' community. They aren't running electricity through their homes but it isn't uncommon for an Unseelie to know modern colloquialisms, technology or even have companions from outside.

Siubhan can undo any curses she has inflicted unless her target has died.

Balmoral's heartbeat is strange even by a fae's standard. It is so immensely slow, it almost seems unbeating. Combine with the rarity of seeing his chest rise and fall, it's hard to get a read on his physical state.

Strength talks in the Unseelie. And this is not just physical strength. Cunning is prized by the Unseelie too. A combination of both makes a being to be feared and respected.

Bal does have a disney princess sort of thing...with insects and other small creatures. He can communicate with them pretty well and he does have them as a way to check on things.

The main citadel is separated into sections based off what it is used for. Such as having an artisan's district and a schooling district.

There are also sections where some races tends to congregate together since...well, you have commonalities. These are like the Little Italy and Chinatown out in our world.

Jungkook forgets at times, and i can’t blame him you know, it’s been 10 years after all but and I am just being transparent with you here, he’s been caught doing stuff like carrying jimin’s belonging instead of Jimin, or purposely allowing Jimin to win at plenty a game or situation and he seems to know every little Jimin quirk and preference.

Jungkook also keeps doing that incredibly annoying thing where he massages Jimin to provide him with comfort and at a point he even went completely out of character and gave Jimin a birthday present, back in 2016, when he gave nobody one!  And then there are random birthday messages, or stuff like him thinking that the two of them are in sync or something … like, what part of a one-way relationship doesn’t he get?

Even when last year he answered Jimin’s call, during his birthday, remember that? And actually showed up. Why the fuck didn’t he just ignore that call or like make up some kind of excuse or something. Like … he keeps failing at this one-way thingy, and I swear to you, he has no reason to, he should be a professional at ignoring Jimin by now, so I really don’t understand … if you asked me, it is almost as if Jungkook is a bit of a masochist himself.
