Had game night yesterday with my dorm mates, played an almost friendship destroying game of uno and monopoly, and then we all did face masks shsjdjjdh. ive always wanted to try figure skating but i am very clumsy 🙏

tsukishima kei

- figure skating requires great balance, especially when you spin into the air and land on one foot. luckily tsukishima knows all about landing

- obv bc he's a middle blocker so he knows how to land his foot properly to avoid falling down, so expect his presence during your practice

- sometimes he joins you inside the rink when you practice all by yourself. he's actually kind of clumsy there— he's all flimsy and gripping onto the sides 😭

- it takes him a while to get used to the ice, and he learned when you always grabbed both his hands and guided him into the middle, and then left him there

- you left him stranded in the middle of the ice rink and he was SO pissed at you he kept swearing as he fell down on his ass, almost crawling his way towards you

- though when it comes to serious practices, best believe he's even more nervous at your performance than he is at his own game.

- he's seen a lot of figure skating accidents that mostly include the blade of someone's skates stabbing their foot or slicing their face. he wasn't squeamish, but he'll probably faint if that happened to you

- tsukishima is always present at your competitions, silently watching— his only form of loud cheering was his claps and yelling at the beginning and at the end of your performance

- figure skating includes dancing too so sometimes he lets you dance with him off the rink to make your body even more languid

- when you're partnered up with a guy, he doesn't get jealous. unless that guy gets handsier than he should be, so it would always end up with your partner shying away when they catch sight of tsukki

- video tapes your practices and shows you what you need to improve like HES the coach

- but really he's just really observant and can catch on well on the dos and donts of figure skating (and he also studied it himself)

- figure skating is also what brought you two together

- he was walking by a public rink one day, though he realized it was probably rented out when he saw only your presence inside, practicing your movements. so since it was an open area, he watched you

- you caught him watching and he blushed, and he felt himself get burned alive when you skate towards him and introduced yourself

- anyway he's very supportive and prioritizes your figure skating too so you would never fight about majority of your hours being spent on the ice rink

- one time he brought his team to your practice and forced them to watch you, and you ended up inviting everyone inside the rink

- kuroo also brings them to your competitions so you could have extra cheerleaders

- says he doesn't threaten them with 100 laps but that's obviously a lie

- he met you through one of the figure skating magazines, and he's had a crush on your for a while before you'd gotten together

- he managed to watch you in the figure skating nationals in japan and brought kenma with him, and he was lucky enough to get your attention right before you performed

- anyway he thinks you look sexy in the clothes you wear for practice

- one time you almost got injured and he ran barefoot into the rink just so he could carry you and get you out of there to be examined

- you slipped and barely sprained your foot, he was always so dramatic

a/n: sorry this took so long and sorry that it’s so short! i honestly kind of hate this one. also i learned how to skate when i was little so i don’t exactly remember the struggles of it but i just took my best friend skating the other day and seeing their struggles was enough research i think😭

  You’d been dating Connor for a little over four months now and things were going well. You’d never felt so connected to someone before. You both absolutely loved hockey, but there was a key difference between the two of you. Connor had been playing hockey almost as long as he could remember, and you’d never even laced up a pair of skates before.

  You had been to a game or two of his and watching him only made the sport that much more enjoyable. You didn’t think you could have enjoyed it any more than you had before actually, and somehow you did. Connor made almost everything better though, so you weren’t exactly surprised. You shouldn’t have been surprised when one day while cuddling on the couch, he brought up the idea of you two going skating together.

  “We could go to public skate or something,” Connor spoke nonchalantly, but he was wearing his classic lopsided smile that you loved so much. The smile that showed he really wanted to do this. “I can teach you how to skate,” He pushed further. You wanted to question what brought on the idea, but you decided it didn’t really matter all that much. You knew it would mean a lot to him if you went, and you were sure you’d have a decent amount of fun too. It’d be embarrassing as hell and also a little scary, but you were sure it would be at least a little enjoyable.

  So you agreed. Now, as you showed up to the ice rink and got your rental skates and wristbands and whatnot, the nerves began to set in. What if you embarrassed yourself? Not only in front of all of the strangers there but Connor too. You didn't like the idea.

  Connor wore an unwavering grin as you both sat down on one of the benches and began to get your skates on, Connor lacing them up quickly and tightly, you — not so much. You knew how to tie skates. Well, in theory at least. It was a lot harder to do in practice, you found.

  You heard a giggle from beside you as you were pulling so tightly on your laces that your hands were turning red. You looked over to your right, glaring in Connor’s direction. He was laughing at you. The motherfucker was laughing.

  “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up,” You mumbled, going back to your attempt at lacing up your own skates.

  You felt Connor rise from the bench. You looked down at his feet. He'd already finished his skates and you hadn't even laced up your first one yet. You supposed that was to be expected from an NHL player; you didn't know why you were surprised.

  He didn’t say anything as he moved to stand in front of you. He wasn’t judging you or making fun of you, just looking at you with a fond smile on his face. He bent down slightly as he raised his eyebrows, tapping the side of your skate and motioning for you to lift up your foot.

  You lifted your foot for him and he positioned the skate in between his legs, being careful for the blade. He laced up the skate quickly, not as quickly as he did his own, but still quick. He repeated the process on the other foot until both skates were laced up. They felt tight, but you knew that they were supposed to be. That didn’t mean it didn’t feel weird though.

  “You ready?” Connor asked you excitedly. It looked as if he were bursting with excitement. You understood it a little bit. He was sharing something he loved with you. Something he really, truly loved with someone he loved just as much. He looked giddier than you’d ever seen him and the sight made your heart swell.

  “Yeah,” You said with an affectionate laugh, beginning to stand up and almost immediately breaking your ankles. Not a great start, you thought to yourself. Connor made sure you didn’t fall, grabbing onto your arms to prevent it. He laughed as you steadied yourself. You looked up to glare at him.

  “Laugh on more time. See what happens to you,” You deadpanned, though it was clear you weren’t serious. Connor just laughed and shook his head at your ridiculousness. He moved his hand to intertwine with yours before he began walking the two of you toward the sheet of ice. The gesture was just as much there for your stability as it was for the romanticism.

  It didn’t take long before you two were stepping out onto the ice, only about ten people skating since public skate had only started about ten minutes ago. Connor got on the ice first so he could help you step on. Your hand was in his as you nervously stepped on. As soon as you felt your skate blade touch the ice, you felt all the blood drain from your body. How the fuck do people do this?

  You didn’t let go of Connor as you got your other foot on the ice. “How the fuck do you do this?” You asked quietly with wide eyes as your knuckles were turning white from how tightly your hands were gripping Connor’s. You felt as if you had zero stability whatsoever and it was actually quite troubling.

  Your clueless question earned a soft chuckle from Connor as he made sure you were close enough to the wall before letting go of your hands. You quickly grabbed onto the boards as your boyfriend began speaking.

  “Just gain your balance first. I know it’s tricky but balance is the most important thing,” He said sweetly after what seemed like a moment of consideration of what to say.

  “Okay,” You said hesitantly. Loosening your grip on the wall a little, you felt yourself calm down slightly.

  It took a few minutes of using the boards to move yourself on the ice before you felt more comfortable, not feeling like you could slip and fall at any given moment anymore. Connor was with you the whole time, being ever so patient with you.

  “You ready to let go of the wall yet?” Connor asked gently, though his voice had a teasing tone behind it. You looked up from where you had been looking down at your skates. He had a smug little grin on his face. It was adorable and frustrating at the same time.

  “Yes, actually, asshole,” You declared, muttering the last part, and making sure to bend your knees as you let go of the boards that had been providing you with a sense of security. You immediately felt off-balance. Not as much as when you’d first stepped onto the ice, but still more than you’d like. “Can I hold your hands?” You asked after a moment of debating whether or not you should risk trying to move and falling.

  “I thought I was an asshole? Assholes don’t hold people’s hands,” Connor retorted. Despite his words and the laugh that followed them almost instantly, he offered his hands out to you anyway. You took hold of them immediately.

  “Shut up,” You said, smirking and holding back a chuckle at his antics.

  “I can let go.”

  “Don’t you fucking dare.”

Note: don’t worry! I totally understand what you’re saying. I read this and kinda had a social media/irl storyline come to my mind so I hope that’s alright! Also I kinda made them slightly know each other, but like acquaintances and they have like mutual friends kinda sorta.

Warnings: a shit ton of fluff. Literally it’s all fluff. Like I don’t even think this has cursing in it. And if so maybe once.

My name is Y/N, and when I was 15 I had a son. He is absolutely everything to me. I was young, and dumb, but if I was given the option to go back and never hook up with some senior at my school, I wouldn’t take the offer. I love my little man too much.

When he was 2 he fell in love with hockey, so at 3 I let him start learning how to skate and grasp the basics of playing hockey, even though for his age it was just floor. Now at 5 he’s playing fully on ice and his team was even invited to practice with the New Jersey Devils, as his team, and we, are based in Newark.

Once we got to Prudential Centre the boys were sent to the main locker room, their names were on tape right under their buddy for the day. I was looking around and right under ‘Luke Hughes’ in full capital letters read ‘Ethan Y/L/N’. I walked my son over to the stall where his name was (obviously avoiding the logo) and I helped him change into his pads, uniform and skates.

After all the kids were settled and ready, coach Ruff started explaining to the kids and the parents how this practice session basically works.

It’s a 4 week training camp, and it’s every Wednesday that the devils are in town. (So 4 Wednesdays, but sometimes there’s a week between the practices without one cuz they’re away) after everything was explained, the Devils were brought into the locker room to meet with their buddies for the program.

The second Ethan saw Luke the smile on his face grew by about 100%. He watched him on Michigan last season as my sister goes there and is friends with some of the older players on the team, and they’ve met before, so he’s excited to see his old friend.

“LUKEY! You’re my buddy! I’m so happy! I missed you! Are we gonna shoot pucks and score on everyone!?” My 5 year old said acting like I just fed him 3 coffees with a side of 10 pounds of sugar.

“Oh yeah we are! We’re gonna be the best group on the ice! With the best cheerleader! Right Y/N?” He said and I smiled at them giving a thumbs up.

After the rest of the kids got to know their buddy a little more the teams were ushered onto the ice, and parents were to stay along the sidelines and not interfere unless there was an emergency.

The team had several smaller nets put up along the boards to practice shooting, cones near centre ice to practice skating, and pucks EVERYWHERE. The kids were all having a blast, and so were the professionals.

By the end of the 2 hours all the kids looked ready to nap, and honestly so did most of the players. Everyone went into the locker room and the players helped the kids with their skates before they talked to the parents.

“So, how was Ethan out there?” I asked the curly headed man smiling at me.

“He’s great. Future NHL superstar I think. The next Gretzky! Forget about bedard!” He said.

“I’m glad my kids THAT GOOD.” I smiled.

“Yeah he is. How are you though? I haven’t seen you since you and Ethan visited Sarah?!” He said bringing up my sister.

“Everything’s great here actually! He’s loving kindergarten now and I got a raise which is why I put him into this. As a little treat for him.” I smiled.

“You’re such a good mom to him. You know, since we’re both in Jersey, I think we should finally exchange numbers, and maybe we can go out for lunch one day Eth’s in school and you’re off and I don’t have practice!” He said smiling.

“You know what, sure Hughes. Pass me your phone and we can text tonight about said lunch date.” I said before taking his phone.

The second week was 2 weeks later as the devils had their first road trip of the season. The kids were extra excited because the wait was longer than they expected it to be.

The second Ethan saw Luke he ran to the man and attached himself to him, it didn’t seem weird because quite a few of the kids did the same to their buddies.

Today on the ice they were doing more team oriented practices instead of just one on one. So Luke, Jack, Dawson, and Nico were working together with Ethan and 3 other kids. It wasn't too eventful, just 2 on 2 scrimmage and small drills that 5 year olds can handle.

But this time after helping Ethan change and it was time for Luke and I to talk about his progress, he asks me out for the next evening, I said yes because Ethan was already gonna be at my parents so I'll be home alone anyways, why not spent that evening with Luke!

Ohmigod minotaur max au 🥹 I have several thoughts if that's okay.

Little Carlos arriving with Fernando and Jenson and Lewis can't change him back from a werewolf but he can make it easier. He enchants some thread that Nico weaves into fabric and then turns into little mittens for Carlos to wear during the full moon. They can't be ripped or torn off even by his little werewolf claws and it means that he can't hurt anybody else or himself.

Lando climbs trees as easily as breathing. Some of the other children like max and Danny are impressed but Charles is a tiny bit jealous and insists that he can climb as well as lando, finding the highest tree in the forest and climbing all the way up to the top where he promptly realises that he cannot get down. Danny announces that he can get Charles down and Val runs to get Kimi or Seb before they inevitably get hurt. In the end it takes lando and Jenson guiding them down for everyone to arrive back on the ground safely. Charles and lando become friends from that, but Charles is still a tiny bit smug when he beats lando in a running race the next day.

Seb becomes the village school teacher. He's so clever and good with the children and so accepting of everyone's little quirks, whether it's being unable to sit still and concentrate like Danny or being a minotaur like maxy. All of the children love him, and their favourite lessons are when Seb takes them outside to the meadows to learn and they do their classes alongside the flowers and bees.

One extremely hot summer Lewis and Toto create a magical ice rink for the children. Kimi and Nico teach everyone to skate and little Valtteri is easily the best at it, zooming around on the ice like he was born there while most of the others stumble around like deer on ice.

Every time someone new arrives to live in the village, Nico always visits them the morning afterwards with a little hamper of supplies: food, firewood, blankets and candles to properly welcome them and make sure they're alright. Maxy likes to tag along to welcome their new residents and always gives them a gift from him too: a flower crown that he picked and made himself and that Lewis preserved with magic.

I wince slightly at my left wrist, trying to shake off the slight pain, he reaches into his bag and pulls out a small ice pack from I guess his lunch and gently places it against my wrist, I blush slightly at the touch and look up at him "when did you learn to skate?" I hear him ask and i shrug "during summer, obviously I'm not that good though" I say embarrassed and he chuckles softly "don't worry, I take some tumbles here and there and I've been skating way longer" he reassures and I giggle softly "so, have you seen anyone here you recognize yet?" I ask and he shakes his head "nope, just you, all my friends went to the school across town" I nod softly "yeah, mine too" I say softly "but at least there's someone here I recognize" I smile softly and he smiles as well "yeah, I was a bit worried I'd be alone" he admits and I nod "me too" I reassure

He looks down at me and I eventually break the gaze, too nervous to keep looking at him, even being this close, I clear my throat and look down at the ice pack on my wrist, his other hand gently keeping my hand still, I blush slightly at the contact, realizing this is practically the first time I've ever been this close to him or touched him "does your wrist still hurt?" he asks, his lisp slightly showing once more and I realize how much I missed it, I shake my head "no, I'm okay now, don't worry" I reassure

"I'm honestly surprised you're letting me help you" he says out loud, removing the ice pack from my wrist and putting it back in his bag, my head tilts and I look at him confused "what do you mean?" I ask softly "well, y'know you and your friend group practically hated me" he chuckles slightly and I shake my head "I never hated you, and they just thought you were a bit agitating, but I actually really liked being around you, they would always just drag me away" I admit, he looks at me a bit surprised "you never hated me?" he asks and I giggle softly 

Shaking my head "of course not, I though you were really silly and funny, they just didn't realize how cute you are" the moment the word "cute" leaves my mouth I practically mentally beat myself up to death, regret and embarrassment fills me but he just blushes slightly "cute?" he asks and I quickly look away "i- yeah, I mean uhm, I don't- never mind" I just decide to shut up, not wanting to embarrass myself even more and he just smiles softly "thanks, I think youre cute too" he admits with a blush and butterflies erupt inside me "thank you.." I say softly and he nods 

"well, now that you know I don't hate you, what if we uhm... went skating together sometime? You can teach me a bit..." I ask shyly and he looks a bit surprised before quickly nodding "yeah sure, whenever you want to hang out I'll be there" he says and i blush, smiling softly "uh, great, I'm glad, also I'm sorry for the way my friends acted towards you" I say softly and he shakes his head "don't worry, you were never the rude one, you know that and I can't blame you for your friends decisions" he reassures and I blush, smiling softly "thanks, that means a lot spongebob" he smiles and chuckles softly "I'm gonna be called spongebob for the rest of my life aren't I?" he asks and I giggle

"well, these people won't call you spongebob since they weren't at our school, so I guess that'll be my personal nickname for you" I smile and he chuckles again "that's fine with me, I'd prefer you only call me that either way" he says and i blush, we sit in silence for a moment "I'm actually really relieved that I got to see you again" I admit and he blushes "you are?" I nod "yeah, I didn't wanna be on bad terms, and I just never got the opportunity to know you or anything, I really regret that" I say softly and he blushes, nodding in understanding "yeah, me too, there's some things I wish I should've just told you when I had the right opportunity."

My head tilts "like what?" I ask softly and I see his eyes widen slightly "w-well uhm, you know, that one rumor that spread in the beginning of the school year?" he asks, and I try to remember "the one that you liked me?" I ask and he nods "well, it wasn't a rumor... I told my friend I liked you and he spread it around" he admits, and my eyes widen "it wasn't a rumor?" I ask shocked and he shakes his head "well...do you... y'know still like me?" I ask and he blushes deeply, I then see a slight nod, butterflies fill me, and I smile brightly. 

"y'know, you could've just told me, I mean I've had a crush on you since I met you at that school" I admit and his eyes widen, his face turning red "r-really? you like me of all people?" he asks shocked and I nod "you're sweet, you're funny, and I feel like you're a lot more understanding then most guys" I say and he smiles slightly "well, thank you y/n.." he says softly and I smile "also, about those skating plans we made, can it be a uhm, date?" he asks shyly and I blush heavily before nodding "of course spongebob" I lean in and kiss his cheek gently.

I absolutely adore your GO figure skating AU and your art, and I just wanted to say that as someone who grew up figure skating and competing that seeing new, 'older' people get into the sport is so lovely and amazing. idk I grew up with the impending age cap on like, being successful at the sport (and ultimately decided fuck it and now I coach) and having that being eroded is so good I think. not that you're old by any rational metric obviously just that figure skating standards are fucked for that sort of thing, as I'm sure you know. I'm so thrilled that this thing that brings me so much joy becoming more accessible and kind and less gate-keepy! I'm so glad you find joy in it too!

re: the age thing. this is something i most definitely touch on when writing crowley!! and i will admit that for a while i thought i was too old to start skating even without the intention of competing. i thought that i would never get the hang of it or be good enough to do anything cool but the more research i did for my AU the more adult skaters i stumbled upon, some who haven’t been skating very long and even some competing far past the typical retirement age, so i found a lot of inspiration along the way! everyone has been so kind and welcoming to me so far, the coaches at my rink are very encouraging and helpful. aside from finally doing something that i have always wanted to do and been too scared to try, i’ve found that i also just enjoy learning something new and challenging (even despite banging my body up ahahah).
