Quick over-analysis of the ways Barok and Albert address one another, because ace attorney loves showing personality through how characters refer to each other, and I love analyzing it.

Easy one out of the way, Albert exclusively refers to Barok as "Barok" regardless of the situation. He is the only character to do this, with every other character referring to him as some variation of "Prosecutor/Lord van Zieks". This establishes their friendship from the get-go, while also being a bit jarring to the audience as literally no one calls him just "Barok". Even characters who are closer to him, like Gregson and Stronghart, still call him "van Zieks". As far as Albert is concerned, that's just his good friend Barok, not the intimidating Prosecutor Lord van Zieks.

Barok meanwhile has two major ways of referring to Albert:

Firstly, "Albert". This one's simple, he's just reciprocating Albert's first name address, and further cementing their friendship. This is used almost exclusively outside of the courtroom, meanwhile within the courtroom he almost only uses "Professor Harebrayne". An exception to this is right after Albert is forced to accept that the experiment is a failure Barok says:

"And as for you… …Albert. You can't ignore this any longer."

It's a sudden departure from the distant, professional address he's been using the entire trial. It's also a much kinder approach than Barok usually takes when referring to defendants (or anyone really), something Susato comments on directly by saying she's "Never heard him speak that way before." He's breaking the Reaper Persona for just a moment to give his friend a firm, yet ultimately gentle, push.

Back to "Professor Harebrayne", while on the surface it seems distant there is one scene that shows an extra dimension. During the "Laudable not Laughable" scene, a sequence dedicated to Barok giving Albert what is essentially a pep-talk, you would expect him to return to the "Albert" address as seen earlier. Instead, he continues to use "Professor Harebrayne". My interpretation is that Barok is specifically calling attention to the fact that Albert is Professor Harebrayne. He has a title which he earned that is proof of his abilities as a scientist. Following that logic, "Professor Harebrayne" isn't just for formality's sake, but also a representation of the respect Barok holds for Albert separate from their status as friends.

However, Barok actually has a third way of referring to Albert that is used exactly once. In the line directly preceding Albert's (false) confession to murder, Barok says:

"What's all this about… Mr Harebrayne?"

Mr Harebrayne. Not Professor, not Albert, Mr.

If "Professor Harebrayne" is meant to show respect, and "Albert" is meant to show fondness, then clearly "Mr Harebrayne" is the absence of both.

He's not "Brilliant Scientist Professor Harebrayne" and he's not "Dear Friend Albert", he is Mr Harebrayne and he is about to do something so, so stupid. And there's nothing Barok can do to stop him.

My chosen interpretation is that this is Barok's desperate attempt to verbally smack some sense into Albert. This is like the Barok equivalent of grabbing Albert by the shoulders and yelling "What the hell do you think you're doing???"

As an aside, this comes right before the "...Albert. You can't ignore this any longer" line. Meaning the latter can almost been seen as an apology for being so harsh moments before.

Just, Mr Harebrayne. It's such a minor change, but I adore it so much. With how much care ace attorney puts into the way characters refer to each other, I have to assume it was intentional.

been thinking about the orym and zeru conversation from 105 and sitting in a puddle of angsty thoughts about the uncertain future because orym saying "your son saved my life a day ago" and zeru saying "maybe you'll get the chance to return the favor" and orym saying "your son has already carved a very impressive verse in the pages of history and if my friends and i have anything to do with it he'll pen many more" and thinking ALLLLL the way back to the beginning of the campaign when dorian said "no debts between us" and how that could be taken one of two ways and remain true

"Let people enjoy things" but what if they're wrong? What if the majority of a fandom has deluded themselves into believing something that was a lie straight out of a demon's mouth? What if there is absolutely no substantial canonical evidence to support their claims and I'm 100% right and have more than enough canonical proof that they've been misreading/misremembering canon events the entire time?

so i’m not directly for a tiktok ban ig (not completely mad about it, will miss the edits though) but I do think it’s funny when people imply that information they get up there isn’t accessible elsewhere. now, lets pretend for a second that tiktok isn’t filled with blatant misinformation, disinformation, lies, rampant racism/misogyny and political brainrot… i have a hard time agreeing with this idea that carefully algorithmic curated tiktok tidbits by your favorite creator is better than idk actually picking up a fucking book, or reading the newspaper/articles, or watching the news, or paying attention in school or listening to experts in their fields or doing your own research. like the pete hegseth hearing for instance… someone on tiktok was like “god how else would i have been able to listen to this! thank god for this app!” and the hearing was plastered on virtually every platform you can imagine. so im not saying tiktok is completely useless. i have learned things up there i hadn’t known before. but tiktok absolutely should not be a substitute for how you gain and interpret information in the same sense that facebook/twitter also shouldn’t.

information you could find if you just took the time to google it or read about it is not being “uncovered” or “brought to light” by tiktok. that’s how we get insane conspiracy theories.

so, just realized that since I'm getting fairly good at writing in (if not casually speaking) Old English, I can absolutely make, write and say aloud the type of spells used in that Merlin show

EDIT: apparently the BBC Merlin magic system also uses Ogham script? ok weird but sure I like the vibes... anyway, while I can't speak ANY form of Gaelic (or Latin btw. I speak OE and thats IT), I can write in Ogham script, like the writing system itself, in either modern or Old English. not sure what language is being used re: the Ogham in Merlin tho

I feel like days of future past has the perfect ending for the xmcu movies. (for tthe whole teams) the xmcu prequels should have ended there.

I feel like going for solo movies for other characters would have been successful at that time. like a magneto solo film after dofp building the brotherhood. ���� like something that will connect the prequels to the first set of x men movies

apocalypse is a terrible movie but it's also extremely watchable it has a lot of good moments. (For me at least....)but it's like idk? just feels it's unnecessary and dark phoenix too.

the fox X-Men universe weren't perfect but their movies were definitely saucier than MCU movies.

The character aesthetics...the wardrobe...the vibes....they just have something special going and I hate the it got waisted because they we're trying to copy the other company's success.

ngl my brain shut down when you said magneto solo movie because of the magneto origins brainrot…urghsge magneto origins i miss you so bad you had so much potential….

i want to see magneto origins be put onto the big screen i don’t care if it doesn’t fit into the timeline none of the movies even do that anyway…

i would just like to see solo type movies generally but also my favorite characters are Erik and Charles so i think i get plenty of them already…

but uhh yes i agree that the xmcu should’ve stopped at dofp but also we wouldn’t of gotten paris proposal so idk 💔

and yeah the fox x-men movies definitely have a different flavor compared to the MCU movies which i like (and also the reason i got so attached) but it’s also a shame they fell back onto cgi battles and not so much storytelling

which was what dp and xma unfortunately did 😒 the stories frustrate me a lot with the inconsistencies and all that…they butchered my silly tragic superheroes/anti-heroes…

i worked on my script last night

20. Hopes for seasons going forward and specific episode tropes you’d like explored?

Honestly? I think it’s redundant to say but I really hope we get lots of episodes where the kids are just… being kids, and their shenanigans snowball into something bigger. Those are hands down my favorite episodes.

….I also really want them to talk about K-pop, though I know they never will. It would just tickle my brain (*ﾉヮﾉ)

15. Favorite special and why?

It’s Post Covid. Do I even need to explain why?

Truthfully, I tend to weigh my “favorites” with this show on how much they made me laugh. I’ve had a good laugh with all of the specials, but there’s just something about listening to Cartman pound his wife that just sent me into the stratosphere. Both specials are fucking insane and I love them.
