Sometimes autism is like. Being super good at a subject or whatever. Or being awkward socially. But also sometimes autism is like. 'Oh I'm fine. Emotionally. I'm totally fine-- why is my heart pounding why am I shaking'

Yes I am aromantic and YES, I am alexithymic and yes, I am trans and I am asexual, and I am autistic.
And PLENTY of people say "What if its related". So, What if?
Would that really matter? Would that change anything?
It's my brain, it's my life, it's my experience. It's something that can't be changed, AND that doesn't need to. Something that will be there until I die.
So, to the people that say things such as "Are you sure you're not just confused?" or "That must be a symptom of..." so what if it was?
Don't try to convince ME about who I AM. Don't try to convince me that I am ruining my life by being myself, by searching my own comfort or by not having a romantic partner. It wouldn't matter if it was a "symptom" of whatever. This is my experience and I am not suffering by it and I don't need to cure myself from it.

Y'all hear me out: autistic Ditch.
Derek is the extroverted autistic who has no idea how social cues work but still loves talking to people so he ends up accidentally overstepping boundaries and can come across as overbearing. Meanwhile, Titch is the introverted autistic who has a bad case of Doesn't Know How Facial Expressions Work, so he can appear as standoffish and a little intimidating. He's also not very good at identifying and expressing his feelings (*cough cough* Alexithymia *cough cough*), so it can be difficult for him to maintain relationships.
Luckily, Derek "I Will Befriend You" No-Last-Name-Given doesn't give a shit about that and talks to him anyway. He's one of few who can read past Titch's cryptic facial expressions, so when they go out together Derek becomes a Titch Visage Translator of sorts. And since Titch is very love-deprived, he's comfortable with Derek's affectionate nature and can talk to him for hours without even realising.
It's a very lovely symbiotic relationship that they have :]

Alexithymia is a trait associated with autism which makes it difficult to recognize or express your own emotions. Take this quiz to see how alexithymic you are.

me, reading the DSM criteria: i'm not that envious.
also me: *thinks about how i deserve somebody else's fame* *resents others' relationships despite being comfortably single and not wanting either party* *views everything as a competition for admiration* *gets violently angry thinking about others getting more attention than me*

Legs and foreshortening’s the bane of my existence. But hell, going to work on this some more maybe after that Muse!Patton fic is done.
Anyways, here’s just some more Gymrat!Dukexiety brainrot from me.
(I’ve had access to my desk since late last November... I REALLY want to make some polished art again. Kicking that can down the road again, ‘cause my motivation/exec-fxn/focus and Creativities being real fickle lately.)

if you’re happy and you don’t know it, clap your hands
if you have alexithymia, clap your hands
if you’re feeling something and you don’t know it
and your face can’t really show it
if you’re happy but you don’t know it, clap your hands
me: *aggressive clapping*

Nobody talks about how alexithymia makes it so that when you do feel emotions and you can (somehow!) identify them, they aren't Intense Enough to be able to accurately express without feeling weird and dramatic so they just have to kind of go on in the background like being emotionally constipated

questioning low/fluctuating/no empathy culture is having too many questions and too little reliable sources. I only trust tumblr cause google already tried to tell me the usual 'empathy makes people better' bs. I've always had a disconnect bw my emotions? that I've always described as dissociative in my writings but only cause i have never found a more fitting word. but I'm pretty sure i don't have any personality disorders/mental illnesses per se but uh? These feelings of disconnect and forgetfullness and a sort of brain fog? They keep fluctuating? When i remember them very clearly when they're going on but readily dimiss them once past? The past year i was super productive and stable but these couple months? Not really? Can someone please help, if u find my experience relatable at all or have an idea of what it might be? Thought i should mention: I'm aspec too. Aroace, aplatonic, loveless and non partnering.
This blog is a boon btw <3
