i'm just getting my thoughts out about today's injury updates and some of the reactions i'm seeing. i'm trying to process some of the ultra-pessimism that's going around and really am just talking to myself out loud about why i don't agree. please feel free to skip this. but i like to think i'm fairly moderated in what i think about this team and their capabilities, so if you're feeling very down about their gameplay and/or the contract situation, maybe this will help? idk.

ok so like....here's the thing.

we were always the underdogs this postseason, even before jarry's injury, but especially after it. no matter who our opponent ended up being, rangers canes panthers, whoever else ended up being a possibility in the waning weeks of the regular season, we were going into it as the team favored to lose the series.

being an underdog isn't necessarily a bad thing! especially a team captained by sidney crosby—he's the most competitive man alive, and being told he can't do something is the fastest way to make him prove that he can.

but that depends on the team as a whole coming together and becoming more than the sum of their parts. it means them playing out of their heads for the full 60 minutes (or, yknow. 100+. whatever.), every single night.

it takes defense that's almost flaw-free, without the big mistakes that kris and mike are both prone to.

it takes offense that scores, that can finish all the chances the underlying numbers say they're creating. and not just sid's line, all of them. goals from all four lines and the defense too are crucial.

it takes a heavy, sustained forecheck, which is the system the penguins use and are the most effective with, for the entirety of the game. it's a lot of physical and mental work to do that, but all it takes is one line being a little lazy for one shift and the whole thing falls apart.

we've seen them put together plenty of complete games this season against good opponents. we've also seen them stray way off-system and shit the bed, against both good and bad opponents. is it nice to have a goalie who's ace enough to bail your ass out if you screw up? yes, of course. but jarry is not and never was shesterkin—at his best, he's very good, but he's not always at his best, and his best was never at that level.

without that level of a cheat code in net, it makes the whole team's performance significantly more important.

can they do it? sure, of course. we've seen it. the series is tied, after all. will they do it for three to five more games to successfully get out of this series? that remains to be seen and is up to them. they may be able to pull it off. they also might not, especially given the other injuries they're dealing with. neither outcome would surprise me, and i would not be disappointed with an early exit—so much going on right now is utterly out of the team's control.

what i REALLY don't understand, though, is why people are connecting casey getting core muscle surgery to geno and tanger's contract situations.

i don't have any inside knowledge here, of course. i don't know any more than anyone else. we can listen to what people like rossi and yohe say, but we have no idea how valid their information is either, especially when it's contradicting what other sources are reporting. the truth is we simply do not know what's going on.

but just like casey being out does not fundamentally alter our overall playoff chances (due to us already being an underdog), casey being out also doesn't have anything to do with the future of the core in pittsburgh. why on earth would it? what does our second-string goalie have to do with extending one of the faces of the franchise and their #1 defenseman?

i'm not gonna say i'm feeling all that optimistic about this team's chances. they're streaky and prone to making unforced errors that come back to bite them, and they're going up against an unbelievably talented goalie. none of that changes no matter who's in our net. but i'm also not throwing the towel in immediately and saying that everything's over. we've played two games and won one of them!

i'm also not going to say i feel 100% confident geno and kris are back next year. they might be, or one of them might be. they also might both go elsewhere.

but there's just no connection between these two things. and there's really no reason to say, 'welp, that's it, i'm done, these worst-case scenarios are absolutely a done deal, i'm going to gloom all over the place about how horrible it all is'. what good does that do for your own personal mindset? we can't see into the future. we just don't know!

i dunno. i just don't understand the connections being made, or the purpose of deciding it's all over forever. unless you can see into the future, there in't a way to know! anything can happen, including good things.

don’t let go

his fingers dig into your forearm, gripping you tightly through his glove.

don’t you dare let them fall

he feels his arm burn, like it’s on fire. the force of holding you and his clone was straining his shoulder, but he couldn’t care less.

you can’t let them go

the voice booming in his head screams and so does he as he feels his shoulder slowly dislocating, popping from its socket. But still, he can’t let this happen.

“let me go.” you whisper. He hears you though his agonizing yell, his eyes becoming blurry in seconds at the mere thought.

“I would never.” He grits through his teeth, using his other arm holding onto the sharp rock to pull himself back a bit, only to slide forward due to the slippery snow.

“albedo please-“

“NO!” He grips your arm harder. “I-I can’t do that.” He feels the warm trail of the fresh tears trailing down his cheek.

You look him in his eyes, his glossy wide eyes and feel warmth spread through your chest.

You’ve never seen him cry, never seen him look so scared.

You feel his tear hit your face and you move your arm.

“Don’t, y/n please.” He hiccups, he feels light headed, he feels scared, he wants to bring you up and keep you safe, apologize for how he acted and never let you go.

I dont want to die. You think as you look up at him

“albedo,” you smile at him and he feels his body go numb.

Why are they looking at me like that?

“I love you.” You whisper, pressing your foot against the cliffs slope, tugging your arm as you did so.

Laughter floods your ears from below you, albedo’s clone looking up at you with excited eyes.

“You are so compliant, you disagreed with this experiment at first but look at you now! You’re wanting to see the results too. I can see why albedo is so drawn to you now!” The clone throws his head back as he starts pulling you down more himself.

“No, no no no y/n no please don’t do this.” Albedo pleads, more fresh tears falling onto your face.

You know he won’t be able to lift you up with his clone clinging to you, you know what has to be done.

I don’t want to leave him. You feel your own eyes brimming with tears as realization hits.

“I’m sorry.” You whisper, kicking the ledge harder this time as everything slows down.

Albedo’s face falls immediately, feeling your arm slip from his fingers.

He doesn’t hear the gut wrenching scream that comes out of his mouth but he feels his throat burn, his whole body burn.

You hear his scream and can’t bring yourself to look away from him. This is it.

I’m going to die

It hits you when you feel your body free falling.

I won’t be able to see him again

You can’t see his face anymore, you never wanted to leave him, not like this.

You still feel the weight of albedos clone behind you, dragging you down faster.

I don’t want to go

Everything stops, the sound of wind rushing past you, the sound of laughter coming from behind you, and your racing heart. You feel peace for a fleeting second then everything goes dark.

Albedo doesn’t even think twice, his legs race down the mountain to where you would’ve landed.

No no no no no no

He can’t feel his own body.

He makes it to the bottom of the trail and slips, feeling his throat burn from crying and heaving for air as he ran.

His head whips in all directions and he sees your coat in the far middle of the pile of snow.

He stills.

He holds his breath.

He’s too scared to see what’s happened.

Are you breathing?

You’re human, a fall like this could be fatal he knows but he also knows you, you wouldn’t let this be what takes you right?

Right?

He reluctantly steps forward, eyes not moving from where you lay.

The outline of your figure becoming more apparent.

Your hair was sprawled out on the snow, from where he stands it looks like you’re sleeping. If anything it looks like he came home from a long day out and found you napping on your shared bed.

The only problem was he couldn’t see the rise and fall of your chest.

You weren’t breathing.

His legs almost give out again when makes it to where you lay.

His clone was no where to be found, no traces of him even here to begin with.

“Y/n?” He whispers, vapor escaping his lips as he brings his gloved had to wipe the tears.

“Y/n love, please open your eyes.” He kneels and grabs your hand.

He feels his bottom lip tremble at the weight of your hand in his, your hand was awfully cold.

His eyes scan over your body, nothing seems broken, there’s no sings of any blood either. Maybe you just passed out because of shock, that’s it, right?

“I didn’t mean it, you never were a bother. You’ve never been.” He pushes the hair from your face back and closes his eyes.

He removes one of his gloves and his fingers touch your wrist, expecting the impossible.

No pulse.

“You always take such good care of me and I-“ he gently lays your arm down, removing his other glove with his teeth then adjusting himself over you.

“Im always so busy and can never find the time to repay you for what you do for me but I want you to know that I appreciate eachthing you’ve done. Since the day we met you’ve bought so many new things into my life.” He positions both hands on your chest, looking down at you as more tears fall free.

“So there’s no way I’m letting you leave me like this, archons no.” He pushes down hard, with all his might he pushes down.

“Come on.” He huffs, feeling the snow stick to your clothing making you feel all the more cold.

Wake up wake up

“I know you can wake up.” He rasps, lump getting caught in his throat as he pushes down harder.

“Don’t leave me alone.” He pushes again and you slip further down in his hold making his fist slam on the snow.

Your face looks so peaceful but he knows the horrible truth of it all.

Besides the red puffiness around your eyes from when you were crying or your parted slightly chapped lips he knows you’re no longer here. The more he stares down at your lifeless body the more his thoughts become more and more reckless.

“Y/n wake up.” He lays you down, laying next to you.

This feels too familiar, he expects you to open your eyes and grumble something under your breath or laugh and turn away like you usually do but you don’t. You don’t even move.

He feels his bottom lip start to tremble at the mere thought.

“Please.” He whisperes. Bringing you close by your head to lay against his chest to warm you up but he feels something warm seep through his fingers.

He stills too scared to look down at his hands.

But he does so anyways, seeing the ugly dark red substance staining his bare hand.

Your blood.

Your blood on his hands.

The color looking unsightly among the pearly white snow surrounding you both.

He feels the bile rise in his throat.

“look what you’ve done!” laughter echos next to him, he whips his head in the direction it’s coming from.

“as alchemists we both get obsessed with seeing our outcomes, you should know better than anyone right albedo?” his clone speaks from right besides him. The clone had come out of no where.

albedo only looks down at you, seeing more blood spilling from your head then looks back up to his clone.

“you understand so surely no hard feelings. anyways what was it that you old them just before this all happened?” he clicks his tongue, placing his index finger and thumb on his chin.

“oh right! That they ruined all your hard work, look think of it this way, now they won’t ruin a thing-“

albedos clone jumps back, fresh deep cut along his chest as he clutches his hand over it tightly.

“almost got me! your more skilled with the sword then i had imagined!” the clone laughs.

“stop.” Albedo grits, now standing. He tried to strike the clone down in one swift motion not wanting to hear another word come from this freaks mouth. He grips the hilt of his sword tightly. He meant to end the clones life but failed, his swing wasn’t precise due to his shoulder being dislocated earlier.

“You didn’t appreciate them, not the way I would’ve.” The clone kneels near you, hand reaching your way but albedo swings again leaning down to you.

“Don’t you dare touch them.” He glares making his clone laugh louder.

“It’s not fair for you to be such a way. I had to show you what it feels like to be me. You have it all, friends, family and place to call home. You had a lover but you didn’t appreciate them. I had to do what was meant to be done.” The clones face falls expressionless as he explains.

“Why not come for me instead? Why them of all?” Albedo questions, pulling you near him again. Your body temperature dropped even more.

“Why not me?” He asks again.

“What is it that you feel?” The clone asks, sitting in front of albedo.

The blood spilling from the clone made albedos face scrunch up. Why was the clone still alive? The clone seems unscathed too, we’ll despite the gash in his chest now.

“It hurts.” Albedo whispers.

If he had just let you stay while he finished up, this never would’ve happened. If he never blew up on you from such a small thing you’d still be alive.

“It hurts.” Albedo repeats feeling fresh tears come down his face seeing them land onto your face.

“Exactly.” The clone grunts, getting up and dusting himself off. “That’s what I’ve been feeling for years living in your shadow.” He grunts, leaning over a bit to stop the blood flow from his chest.

“It’s great to see we both can experience the same emotions.” The clone smiles down at albedo.

“Bring them back.” Albedo, puts his sword down, lifting you in his arms and holding you close.

He knows he asking for the impossible.

“That’s impossible.” The clone takes slow steps to where albedo sits with you in his arms.

Leaning down to pick up the sword that albedo was holding.

“You must live with this pain just like I do.” He whispers near albedo, making albedo reach down next to him only to feel snow come in contact with his skin.

Albedo turns around expecting to see his clone but nothing. He’s left alone again.

The reality of it all hitting him once again. You’re gone.

you’re dead

“Albedo?” He hears a familiar voice call for him and his head shoots up.

“Over here! I need help!” He calls out and it hits him.

Whoever is on their was will see the state you’re in, they’ll see you pale and cold, they’ll see you dead.

“Albedo? Albedo hello?” They call out again and he freezes, he can’t move.

Y/n is dead

How will he explain, how will he tell them he couldn’t save you.

“Albedo?” It’s much softer this time, coming from his arms and he stops breathing.

“What did you do to me?” His eyes travel down to your face, your eyes are still closed but your voice is ringing in his ears.

“You let me go.” He hears you say, his grip on you tightening as he nods his head no.

No no no it wasn’t me

“No, I- it wasn’t I couldn’t.” He heaves, feeling lightheaded again.

Why is he hearing you?

“Albedo!”

His eyes shoot open as he sits up straight, chest rising and falling rapidly.

His eyes take a second to adjust but he sees the familiar view of his room.

A soft gentle hand lays on his forehead and a familiar scent surrounds him.

“I told you not to overwork yourself, you never listen.” Your voice comes from beside him, grumbling as he turns to look at you with wide eyes.

“When was the last time you slept? Or even hydrated for archons sake you’re paleE AH-“

He pulls you close with so much force it almost knocks the wind out of you.

“what’s gotten into you-“

“you’re here, you’re here? you’re safe?” He exhales, hands tucking you into his neck as he brings you in impossibly closer.

“how’re you? I thought-“

“Albedo hey, look at me.” You pull away feeling his hands trembling too much for him just waking up.

You heard him grumbling in his sleep so you thought you’d wake him just in case.

He looks at you as if you were a ghost but you feel your heart sink when your eyes meet his.

In all your time you’ve known the head alchemist, in all time time you’ve been with him you’ve never seen him cry.

but he’s looking at you, with fresh tears brimming his eyes and fresh tears trailing down his face.

“love what’s wrong? are you ok?” you ask worry flooding you. Your own heart sinking, why was he so distressed? Is he hurt? Is he scared? What was he dreaming of?

“are you in any pain?” You sit down next to him and he reaches for your face.

feeling his skin make contact with yours, feeling the warmth radiating off your face. he felt himself relax, it’s you, you’re alive.

“I just want you to stay here ok.” He asks, big blue eyes staring into yours. His face that is usually hard to read with little to no emotion at times was looking at you In a way that made you feel shy.

“are you ok?” You ask again and he looks down at his chest, remembering the sick feeling he felt, how much it hurt him.

“Yes, I am now.” He nods his head, thumbs softly swiping the apples of your cheeks.

“I was going to run out to grab you medication since you passed out at work earlier, you need to take-“

“No!” He cuts you off, standing up when you get up feeling dreadful overcome him at the thought of you leaving. At the thought of his clone from his dreams getting his hands on you.

“Don’t leave, I’ll take the rest of today off! Tomorrow if I have to aswell. Let’s just stay in tonight, ok?” He gently sits you back down and you stare up at him confused but don’t rebuttal.

You only nod your head seeing him visibly relax again.

“I’m sorry, I’ll take better care of myself, better care of you. But you have to promise me you’ll be safe when I’m not with you.” He grabs both your hands, moving one down to your wrist and feeling your pulse on his fingers.

“Keep your promise and I’ll keep mines love.” You nod your head and he leans down, placing soft kisses all over your face, making you laugh aloud. Filling his ears with what he thought he’d never hear again.

He pulls you closer to him again. Hugging you not wanting to let you go, fearing for what actually could’ve been.

He looks past your bedroom window, an outline of Dragonspine can be seen from where your house is and he squeezes you closer. He cant help but wonder, is there truly someone that evil who takes the form of him out there? If so, he’ll be wary, for everyone he interacts with. Most importantly, with you.

She watches his eyes scan over the text and a fuzzy smile grow on his face. Matty loves talking about Este when he can—to bring some much deserved attention to her writing—and did so often, but does’t always mention many the details of their relationship. That was until strolling around the Northern Quarter with Zane brought a bit of it out of him.

Este is what brings him back to Manchester the most often, from visiting her family and Cate and Georgia to just needing a bit of a homey feeling from its familiar pubs and nostalgic shops. So, naturally, Matty talked about her in the interview done for the release of Being Funny—explaining how they’d met and how much the city means to them both.

“How they put two and two together is beyond me,” he says, scratching his head. “That Manchester Wire interview was five years ago now, you know. Did you ever read that?”

She chuckles. “Course I did! We had a few fans come in that summer with the sole intention of coming to a place you recommended, actually.”

“Why have you never told me that?” Matty asks, “You’re welcome for the business, by the way.”

“You never even told me about your little shout out, to be fair. I had to find out on my own,” Este teases. “Plus, we weren’t even a thing at that point—we’d met once! Quite creepy, in retrospect.”

“When you put it like that it’s honestly so cringe so please change the subject now.” Matty buries his head in the bunches of sheets that sit in her lap, embarrassed and frankly too sleepy to defend himself.

Este giggles, letting her hands settle into his curls. “Oh c’mon, you weren’t cringe. I’m just pulling your leg. It was sweet,” she reassures him.

“You’re just saying that because you feel bad,” he whines, then rubs his eyes to try and get the sleep out of them. “That’s so crazy that they dug that up, though. I’m not sure if many people know you’ve been around since then.”

“They probably looked at your life in 2019 and figured you were a rockstar with a new girl in every city but in reality you were calling me to get to sleep every night and doing origami in your free time because it reminded you of me.”

Matty’s jaw drops at her blunt comments. “I was about to get mad but I can’t even disagree.” He sits up, raking the hair out of his eyes. “Do people still use the word ‘simp’? Can that be applied to this situation? Was I a simp?”

She throws her head back, mouth wide, as she laughs at how ridiculous his question is.

“Please don’t say ‘simp’, love. You’re 34.” Este squeezes out between her giggles, “But no, people don’t use that word anymore. And yes it can be applied. And also yes, you were. And still are.”

“Proudly am,” he adds.

She leans into his side and he snakes his arm around her waist. They sit there, Matty only in a pair of pyjama pants and her an oversized tee, scrolling through the funny replies to the tweet and how big of a deal some fans were making it.

“You should respond. Tell Megs that she’s right.”

“Seriously?” Este asks, shocked that he’d want her to engage in something so meaningless and speculative.

But alas, he nods casually with a smile. “Yeah. They seem sweet, and just curious. And maybe being such a simp will give me some brownie points,” confirms Matty.

“God, enough of that word!”

“I’m joking!” Matty defends through fits of laughter. “C’mon E, I’m joking.”

She knows he is, but enjoys the theatrics of it all; shoving his head off her shoulder and scooting away from his touch in protest.

“That was a special night for me! The first time I saw you play and met the guys! Don’t make fun!” Este pouts, crossing her arms playfully.

“Fine. I take it back, I take it back,” Matty begs, dragging her back over to him and bringing her legs over top of his. He grabs her hand and places a kiss on her palm. “I remember meeting Cate, and introducing you to Louis. And Ross making fun of my gallbladder surgery, and leaving Cate on the dance floor to get drinks, and screaming at each other over the music at the bar. You telling me about the anniversary party. I very much remember!”

“Okay, okay. Enough gushing. I forgive you.”

hey, rioters and gentlefolk, a thought.

so the reason I dislike all those "you should be writing" posts and always scroll past them with an eyeroll is that I fundamentally disagree. mostly. if you write fulltime and it's your job then yeah, probably you should be doing that over just scrolling, but most of us here in the writer's-tumble-down-wip-mountain-blr are doing it as a hobby, for FUN, because we enjoy it. yes?

my dad's main hobby right now is building lego kits of various planes and other vehicles. he enjoys it. but if he's scrolling on whatever site he frequents instead of doing that, he's not in the wrong. he doesn't need to devote a certain amount of time every day to building part of a new lego sculpture. it's a hobby. he can do it when he wants to.

so like, when I'm off work, sometimes I like to write, because it's my hobby and I enjoy it, but sometimes I like to do many other things that are also for fun, because I enjoy them as well. and I don't consider it lost time or a waste of that fun just because I wasn't participating in my MAIN hobby.

there are a select few of us to whom those posts apply, and even then they're on thin ice. I don't think we have to scold ourselves publicly - even as a joke - for not partaking in this fun thing we all do at all free hours of our lives.

and I realize I'm posting this on my writeblr, on my blog supposedly dedicated to my writing. I also think it would be beneficial for me to offer myself some more structure and follow-through on my projects, just for my own contentment and brain function.

I feel like we can all too often slip into perpetuating this cycle of yelling at ourselves for not keeping up with our writing, as if this hobby we choose to do willingly is screaming back at us from the closet we've shut it in. it may seem all in good fun. but sometimes it isn't. sometimes we're letting ourselves feel discouraged for no good reason, because again, this is for fun. we do this for fun. right?

so if you see this, sure, you could be writing. but there are no great powers up on top of the wip mountains ready to strike you with lightning if you're not. be kind to yourself, even your writing self.

Adventure Time Watch List

With Fionna and Cake currently airing, a lot of people have gotten interested in possibly watching Adventure Time lately - either for the very first time or returning to the show after having dropped it at some point. I've already started helping a friend watch through the show with me and have talked to other friends who expressed interest in doing the same.

For the above reasons I thought it would be fun and helpful to create a watch list, and then I thought it might be of use to others! It's a list I'd describe as lightly curated, but keeping things extremely easy for anyone to choose how they, personally, would prefer watching the show by leaving all info/options available.

Personally, I think Adventure Time is a show worth watching in its totality! At least once, anyway. But I acknowledge it's intimidating to get into a show with 10 seasons and over 200 episodes, plus some people are mostly interested in specific characters or plots, or have watched through most of the show before and want a faster way to catch up on 'key info' without running through the first five seasons with a fine-tooth comb.

So, the document! It includes:

A key for how I marked every single episode (based on their necessity for understanding the overall plot, which eps introduce and expand on recurring concepts/characters, which are arguably "totally skippable", etc.)

Highlights marking all F&C episodes and each of the mini-series arcs.

Colored hearts which mark major character appearances (Ice King, Princess Bubblegum, Marceline) and significant episodes that center on/continue the arcs of Finn and Jake respectively.

The idea is that you can use the list to curate your own experience in watching through the show. If you want to watch everything, you can! But maybe you only want to refresh yourself on the main plot, or maybe you only want to watch all of Marceline's episodes, etc etc.

I would like to emphasize one more time this was very casually made. Hopefully, if nothing else, it works for anyone who's interested in AT but doesn't know where to start beyond just watching the show from the beginning.

I also wanted to put out a list like this because I've heard of the existence of watch lists that will recommend skipping a majority of episodes outright, including entire seasons, which ??? sounds absolutely insane to me! Even the earliest seasons of AT contain episodes absolutely crucial to the overall plot!!

(This probably comes from the idea that the earliest seasons of AT are "worth skipping" because they're "not as good" as later seasons, or that early AT is only okay but "gets better" around the middle. I heartily disagree with this; some of my favorite episodes are within the first three seasons. I will of course acknowledge that some of the earliest episodes probably won't suit some folks' tastes even if what comes a little later on definitely will; hence, this list.)

Anyway, I hope this helps anyone interested in watching! If you do give Adventure Time a try, I hope you have a great time with it! It's a fun show and I think watching the whole thing is definitely worth it~

Due to the nature of all media and works within this event, it is only for those that are 18 and older – upon signing up you acknowledge that you are not a minor.

Any kind of hate (kink bashing/shaming, harassment, toxic behaviour, etc.) will not be tolerated at any point. There will be no warnings given and if proven to have exhibited any disagreeable behaviours, you will be removed from the event.

Tag your works accordingly. We expect explicit works, and that will contain squicks, triggers, etc.  We believe in Kinktomato here. YKINMKATOK (Your Kink Is Not My Kink (And That’s OK) but you are responsible for advising our readers what to expect. 

This event, as always, is open to any and all pairings that involve our favourite murder muffin! If you’re finding that inspiration isn’t coming to you with just Bucky, we will also allow up to two squares per card to feature a different Sebastian Stan persona (Sebastian himself, Steve Kemp, Max Burnett, etc.)

The AU’s are entirely up to your interpretation, so long as they are featured prominently in your creation.

What is a Connect Four event? 

Simple! It’s very similar to a Bingo Event, where you will receive a card with four categories.  

What happens if we finish our card? 

You can request additional cards! Please only request a new card once you have finished your current card. If you are not happy with the prompts on your card, please request a swap for that square/those squares. You can request one swap per card, up to four squares (yes, you can ask for a whole new card).

If there's a square you don't vibe with, please use our Square Swap Form to begin the process of either requesting up to 2 new squares, or an entirely new card. The email must include your username, card number and the square + prompt you are purging from your card. 

Can we use a fill for another event as well (ie. another bingo, etc)?

Absolutely! So long as the other event allows it, we have no rules against cross-posting.

All work must be newly uploaded to count towards the fill (no entering a fic you published a few months ago, for example). They may count towards already existing AU’s that you write for (a new chapter for an ongoing fic), or they can be something brand new – it is entirely up to you.

What pairings are allowed?

Any. Whether that be /Reader, /Steve, /Reader/Steve, /Natasha, /Clint – so long as Bucky is still the main character.

Is there a limit to submissions?

Absolutely not. You are free to create as many works / pieces of media that you feel inspired for – whether that be 5 fics for a Mafia AU square, or 10. It does not matter.

If you insist on your desire to work despite everything, he lets you have your way albeit with a pinch of salt. He gets a job at the same place to keep an eye on you. Owing to his physical capabilities, he does the work of two people to cover you without your having to ask. You can see it that they have kept you there only because they do not want to displease the Avatar of Gluttony. You could be absent and nobody would notice... Just like always.

If you confront him about feeling useless and how you don't want to be dependent on others, he looks sad. It's not you he is disappointed with, but with the general state of things.

"But it's not your fault that you can't work... Why are you forcing yourself? You don't actually need to work! I can take care of you, you know...."

You don't enjoy it, not being able to work, not being able to assure your closed ones. The desperate look on your face doesn't elude him so he picks you up and goes somewhere private.

"That's it! I don't want to see that expression on your face ever again. I was always against you working. Don't worry I will provide for you. You will never go hungry, I promise."

You can't really deny him when he looks so crestfallen and sweet. He wants what's best for you so perhaps you should indulge him.

If you decide to disagree with him, he tells you that you're too weak to think straight. You shouldn't be working. He's sorry that he has to do it but he can't see you getting hurt.

He keeps you locked in his room with Belphie coming to check on you from time to time while Beel is away for work. He truly didn't want to do it but he has no other choice.

Well, bad things are waiting for your former place of work, for sure. They dared to make you cry.

Also, why are you putting yourself out there like that? It's the third time this month and destroying businesses behind wraps can be a tiring ordeal for the Avatar of Sloth.

You don't really NEED to work. There are demons out there who would kill to lead your lifestyle without having to lift a finger. So can't you cuddle with him and call it a day? Maybe you should stop worrying your little head over it.

Not everyone is meant to do everything. You should accept it and let it go. If you pondered over every difficulty that crossed your path, you would become mad.

There's only so much defiance that Belphie will tolerate. If he thinks your condition is deteriorating, he shows his true colours and locks you up in the attic. The idea of you working amused him at first but now he hates your absence and the poor state of your health. He's too tired to deal with the complaints so he would rather cut the problem at the root and not let you leave his side at all.

You are allowed to rest so you should be grateful for that privilege. What would he not do to lead your life? Alas, he has to work to take care of you only to come back home to more of your complaints and foul mood. Do you think that is fair for him? No, it isn't. But do you see him complaining and running away? No. He comes back to you every day.

To the latest fandom take:

I strongly disagree with the take "new posts are cringe and low effort". Brother (gender neutral), trust me, you shaming them is so embarrassing. Let people enjoy what they want to enjoy. You're not held down by chains with your eyes forcefully open to look at those posts. Just scroll past or block accounts you don't like. Instead of being joyful about new people joining in, you chose to be bitter about what they post. We were all at that age. Stop picking on younger teens. Hell, it isn't about age. Every post, as long as it is not harmful, is valid and as long as its author enjoys it and enjoys sharing, don't stomp on it. That way, we'll get less and less posts. So what that people keep posting headcanons or essays that are "obvious" or were here before? Those people weren't here before. Let them DISCOVER the wonderful RA world for themselves and share that excitement. And if those posts don't satisfy? WRITE YOUR OWN. Thank you, cheff.

However, what I want to draw attention to (now speaking to everyone), is the remark about fanartists. I know some that left or stopped actively creating for the reason that they felt not appreciated. It goes deeper than that. In the world built on capitalism and consumerism, amateur artists (who are also human beings who seek assurance and positive encouraging feedback) and who come to fandom to share their free artwork for fun and for interaction that gives them motivation to go on, are not some machines that come automatically giving content. Consuming their art and using it without even interacting, especially in this small fandom, can feel draining and this is not what the fanartists came here to do. If you look at it through their eyes, would you continue to do art if you felt it hasn't found its audience or if the audience felt passive about it? You do not have to like some art work. I get it, we all have our own taste. But if you do not support artists, especially beginning ones, it's really easy to lose the motivation. And you're robbing yourself. Imagine some artist who would have become great and eventually posted the art you like, is not sharing their art because they didn't feel motivated.

In conclusion. OP of the prev fandom take, I definitely do not agree with your opinion on ra tag and posts. I also don't like the tone in which you wrote your whole ask. But, everyone, I do believe there's a tiny thing that's worth giving a thought in the part about fanart.

All I see lately is people complaining there aren't good posts or that fandom is dying. Babes, if you're not gonna interact with things, either posts or art or fics or whatever, of course the activity is gonna die down. But also I do think that on the other hand, people who say stuff like "we don't have content anymore are the ones who purposefully ignore posts of the newer blogs just because it isn't entirely their taste and then say this fandom is desolated wasteland about to be hit by dinosaur killing meteorite. Valid, you don't have to reblog stuff that you don't want to. But then stop complaining about that fact there isn't stuff and either shut up and move on or contribute yourself.

Pessimism and toxicity isn't what this fandom needs and to be real I am tired of these fandom takes that what is actually bringing this fandom down. Complaints and call outs to toxic and harmful behaviour is valid and shouldn't be suppressed and please, everyone don't ever be afraid to do that. But these shaming takes and asks, is like chasing and biting your own tail and then complaining it hurts. I'd really appreciate it if some of you could refrain from shaming people who harmlessly enjoy stuff. Bye.

I'm curious about what your opinion on dtamhd is?

I talked about it a bit when the episode first came out, but I'll summarize my thoughts for the new folk. This is all just my personal opinion/interpretation, feel free to disagree, etc etc

I really like DTAMHD! Dennis is my favorite boy and I enjoy being with him for 20 minutes and watching him bop around trying to keep his cool and be kind to people while he slowly loses his mind. I fuck very heavily with the idea that Dennis actually does try to be calm and kind most of the time, he just gets overwhelmed by his own emotions and lashes out because he has no healthy outlit or healthy coping mechanisms. And he refuses to accept help from others because he doesn't trust anyone but himself with his mind and body because growing up every adult in his life that we know of abused him in some way. So when he has a problem, like high blood pressure, he keeps it all inside and tries to deal with it himself, which just makes him more stressed and miserable. I really like all the little things in his fantasy that actually do highlight parts is his real life, like him having to be on Frank's family plan, forever tied to him and relying on him even as an adult, or him crying "nightmare nightmare please somebody help me". We love to see a man suffer on this blog. But that's the aspect of the episode people usually don't have a problem with. Let's get more controversial

My interpretation of the ending is that Dennis did not actually lower his own blood pressure, he's just so stuck in this fantasy version of his life where he has control and where things can't hurt him that he blocks out the negative information and replaces it with positive. I don't see it as a "win" for Dennis because I don't think he succeeded at all in actually changing anything. I think the fact that the gang's phone call at the end is the exact same one that's explicitly a fantasy is supposed to clue us in that this is fake too, the difference is Dennis isn't aware that it's still a fantasy because he's so wrapped up in his own idea of himself as someone who CAN lower his own blood pressure and someone who the gang needs and relies on. So he has these purposeful fantasies to help him cope, but those fantasies still bleed in to real life and color his perception of himself and the world even though he thinks to himself that he's in control of the fantasy. But much like how he can't actually control his physical health, he can't control his mental health either, and this constant fantasizing that he can do all these things has led him to see a distorted version of reality where he doesn't have to change or grow or learn. Which is kind of the core of the whole show if you think about it. I do agree completely with the criticism that Dennis actually having the ability to lower his own blood pressure is stupid, so I get hating the end if you see it as him returning to reality and being successful in his endeavors, but that's not how I see it, so it's not an issue for me.

I can also understand why people could see the heart eating scene as a serial killer Dennis thing and dislike it because of that, but that's not how I saw it at all. It's really goofy and cartoony and obviously not real when he rips the guy's heart out and eats it; it's not about killing someone (the guy doesn't even look hurt at all, he just stands there watching Dennis—I think a real murder fantasy would focus on the pain and dying but it’s not about that, it’s about defeating a metaphorical evil, not a literal man) it's about oversimplifying the world. There’s so many fun different ways you can interpret the CEO, like that he represents Dennis’ relationship with himself or with the world or with his parents, etc. I think if you detach yourself from the literal image and look at things in a more abstract, metaphorical way it makes the scene and the episode as a whole more enjoyable—but I understand that’s not something everyone is interested in doing.

That’s why it doesn’t just feel like a retelling of Glenn’s real life experience to me—I think there’s a lot of Dennis-specific ideas and systems (lol) throughout the episode that give it more symbolism and weight and makes it into a good (imo) narrative.

And I get why, if you’re the type of person who feels a Sunny season should end with a story about the entire gang, or about the gang helping one of them do something big, or something similar, DTAMHD would be disappointing, but I personally have no expectations for what a Sunny finale “should” be, so I wasn’t bothered by the fact that Dennis never opened up to anyone or had any real growth. I was just along for the ride.

I really enjoy the fact that the episode has a lot you can read into and a lot that’s open to interpretation, but that’s also the exact reason different people came away with such different views of the episode. I love when Sunny takes risks and makes unique episodes like this. And I like watching Glenn Howerton smear blood all over his mouth

I'm seeing a lot of comments saying Porsche is the Dominant. I mean, I see some of your points and the validity in them. I just don't agree nor see it. Maybe I'm making correlations because, I personally live in a relationship with a Dominant male who is a sexual submissive to me.

Let's unpack the questions and see.

Porsche called Kinn out on his jealousy. He sure did, but it was in a submissive brat manner. As I mentioned in my notes it's all in the body language. He is not moving towards Kinn in a domineering stance he has leaned back and shifts down. Yet he is using his words to goad Kinn. What do you think submissive brat behavior is? It's struggling, small annoyances, and verbally talking back.

Because Porsche took control of the hand job at the end. Okay, this one I don't know what to think about it. I mean you're basically saying if I give my husband a hand job. Get him off but continue to get finger banged and lose myself in an orgasim that I am no longer Dominant. Well, okay, let me just go tell my husband that I'm not Dominant, hahaha! We'll just ignore the Dominant stance of Kinn's hand controlling Porsche's head the entire time, hmm.

He calls him out on the lack of trust. This is just fucking insulting to a submissive. It implies they are doormats to take abuse. That is not what submission is! It is a power imbalance but it does not take away a submissive's right to be treated with respect. Yes, there are some submissives that do enjoy that but it is a subcategory of submissive and does not describe all of them.

I've already explained the neck. Porsche's five second touching of Kinn's throat is in no way comparable to the complete control Kinn had over Porsche's entire fucking head. Porsche keeps proving he is the one in control and owns Kinn. Want me to point out each and every time Kinn used ownership words for Porsche and Porsche allowed it. "Vegas always wants what's mine" "My bodyguard" "When you are done return to me both the gun and yourself" I mean that whole statement right there was ownership with Porsche smiling.

Now let me also point out to you Kinn's Dominant "come give me a hug" to which Porsche readily responds. He does not ASK Porsche for a hug, he commanded. A sub asks, like how Porsche does with Kinn on multiple occasions. He not only uses words but body language, the only time this changes is when he is being a brat.

Another edit because there keeps being more. Porsche was above Kinn which signifies the switch in power I've got to disagree. Notice how Porsche didn't put himself above Kinn, Kinn purposely placed him above him. When Porsche turns around from the mirror they are even. Kinn grips the back of Porsche's neck (again, Dominant move) and then lowers himself to inhale Porsche. From that point on Kinn is purposely placing Porsche above him. It's an apology.

Happy international women’s day!

I wanted to write an intelligent post for this international women’s day, but frankly, I am exhausted. Exhausted of discussing my rights, freedom, existence and sexuality with strangers online. Exhausted of leaving my social media bubble which consists of cool, queer and feminist people to get hit by reality.

There are still too many people who think women’s rights aren’t human rights. And that is unbelievable to me because whether you identify as a woman or not, we need to care about all people in this society. I’m also exhausted about discussing why we still need feminism and why gender equality benefits all genders. But I’m also inspired.

Inspired by all these magnificent women on here who continue to fight for their rights, empower other women and inspire me to not give up the fight. Inspired by all the nonbinary folks and feminist men out there who show their identity even when they are constantly getting harassed. For all the brave people who have suffered from sexual harassment and abuse but chose to live with their trauma.

I know that I am incredibly privileged and I always considered myself to not be a victim of this patriarchal society. But the more I think about all the comments others made about my body, the way some people keep questioning my skills and competence just because I am a woman ….

The gender pay gap and the gender data gap are real, so please educate yourself. Women are still being discriminated against in all aspects of their lives, from their own home to public spaces to the court room. Even in a workplace environment, whether it is harassment or getting paid less than their male colleagues. And I’m not even in a position to talk about working mothers, who have to juggle being there for their children and working full-time while facing uninvited judgment for it.

Let’s face reality: Nobody wants to be a victim, we want to be empowered, to feel free and live our lives the way we deem right. And I hope that’s possible in the near future, at least where I live, but there’s so much to work on. So let’s work on smashing the patriarchy together!

And even though some feminists might disagree with me on this: patriarchal structures suppress everyone who isn’t rich or in power and that includes most men. So it’s not just the female urge to smash the patriarchy, it’s the human urge to free ourselves from the societal, political and religious suppression that tries to hold us down, keep us small and hush our voices. Feel free to discuss this topic further in the comments, this is a safe space.

If anyone feels the need to write something hateful in my comment section, I will delete it. That’s just to ensure my own mental health and to protect the people reading this post and comments. I am open to discussion, but my rights are not up for a debate.

Honestly I'm just going to point In Theory (4.25). The most annoying thing is the show trying to act like it proves Data doesn't have human feelings. When we all know he has friends he cares about. He's close with various members of the crew including Troi and Geordi. He gave Keiko away at her wedding. And look at that picture, that's Spot and Data loves her very much.

In summary, Data doesn't need to want sex or romance to "be human" or "have feelings". He's fine with friends, and his cat, and his autisum.

Any advice for a past anti-endo becoming pro-endo? I find myself slowly drifting away from friends who consider themselves anti-endo and I wonder if maybe I'm doing something wrong. I understand endos aren't perfect but they aren't as bad as people make them out to be. Sorry if this is too discoursey for this blog, feel free to ignore if it is!

so first of all, that’s great that you’re having a more open mind about plurality and endogenic systems! accepting and embracing different forms of plurality can help bring us closer together as a community :)

we’re sorry it’s been causing you to drift away from your friends as a result… syscourse is a complicated and nuanced topic, and it’s hard to find anyone who will agree with your syscourse beliefs 100%. we know pro endos who still maintain friendships with anti endos, and we do believe it’s possible to maintain positive relationships with those who disagree with you without wavering in your beliefs.

i suppose some general advice we’d like to give for a previous anti endo who’s changing their ways is:

1) trust yourself for validation, not other pro endos.

if you are open and accepting of other kinds of systems, that is excellent, and you are doing the right thing. many in the pro endo community may struggle to accept folks who have changed their ways. there’s lots of “once an anti, always an anti”, “syscourse unaligned/neutral just means anti”, and “anti endos are a hate group” sentiments online. and those who genuinely have these beliefs likely won’t trust or show kindness to those who have been anti endos in the past. so don’t be too discouraged and please don’t go back to being anti endo if you’re not accepted in the community by other pro endos. we ourself have been shunned by much of the pro endo community for being “syscourse unaligned,” so we know personally how that goes. but that hasn’t stopped us from listening to and supporting endogenic systems to the best of our ability.

2) stay out of syscourse, at least for a while

syscourse is dangerous. discussions (on the rare occasions there is one) are often emotionally charged and can get very heated very quickly. so many individuals on all sides of syscourse truly believe that their opinions are the only right ones, and everyone else needs to change or leave the system community. so if you’re learning more about endogenic systems and trying to be a pro endo, it may be wise to just stay out of syscourse and support nontraumagenic systems from the sidelines. one way you can do this is by…

3) following common pro endo tags

“#pluralgang” in general is pretty accepting of all systems. there’s also “#endo safe,” “#endo friendly,” “#endogenic,” “#pro endo,” “#nontraumagenic,” and “#nontraumagenic safe.” you will see the occasional cross post which doesn’t belong, but for the most part, these tags are by endo systems and supporters, for endo systems and their supporters. following these tags can help you feel less isolated from the community!

4) know when to set boundaries and draw the line

it’s well known that the pro endo community (and the plural community in general, honestly) has issues with racism, particularly concerning “tulpamancy” language, which has been condemned by many buddhist systems of color. it is possible to be pro endo without condoning the racism that exists within the community! please make an effort to listen to, center, and uplift plural voices of color in your discussion spaces. it’s possible to believe in tulpamancy and be pro tulpa systems while not standing for their choice of language use. please don’t be accepting of all practices and terminology at face value; when you hear marginalized groups voicing their concerns, listen to them and take them seriously. there are plenty of other terms to describe these systems you can use besides “tulpa” - our system uses paro/paromancy/paromancer, which is not a term bastardized from vajrayana buddhism and tibetan culture.

5) think critically about what you see online

as with any community, there can be bad actors, and there can be ableism. please put your thinking cap on when reading others’ posts, especially posts made by endogenic systems that discuss did/osdd and other dissociative disorders. learn how to spot misinformation and disinformation. try to understand when posts are slightly misguided, and when they may have ulterior motives to cause harm to traumagenic systems. there are accounts out there run by people who will make bigoted, hurtful, and untrue statements regularly, but since they do this eloquently and with a cheery attitude, they often go unchecked. make sure you’re being careful when engaging with the pro endo community, to try and avoid interacting with those whose intentions are to harm disabled systems.

6) try not to waver in your beliefs

if you end up having conversations about syscourse with your anti endo friends, you may find that they spend time trying to steer you back to disliking or disbelieving endo systems. having a few talking points to help you stand your ground could be really useful. some of our go-to statements are:

- other people know themselves and their experiences more than i ever will.

- just because someone’s personal or spiritual beliefs are not provable by science doesn’t mean that they deserve to be disrespected.

- policing other people’s identities and lived experiences is never a good look.

- for the most part, endogenic systems do not claim to have dissociative disorders and do not take up resources allocated for traumagenic systems, contrary to popular belief.

hopefully these things can help keep you on track. you’re not doing anything wrong by coming to a better understanding of plurality and choosing to listen to and respect nontraumagenic systems. remember we’re not the end-all-be-all to syscourse and the pro endo community! we’re just one system who’s been around the block sharing our ideas.

we seriously hope that soon you can find community with likeminded people. thank you for making a genuine attempt to learn more - we see you and appreciate your efforts in trying to change for the better!

Good aspects: Interesting inventory management, tense moments and atmosphere, good voice work (kudos to the voice director Brendan Blaber/JelloApocalypse), interesting premise, having the puppets just be unexplained and part of the world feels fresh.

Bad aspects: Fake loading screens are weird and distracting, highlighting can be a little subtle.

Aspects up to personal taste, but I hated: The not-especially-subtle implication that the in-story show was meant to instill Christian values in kids, and the game's overall implication that this is an unambiguously good thing, and the loss of it will cause societal downfall because no one can be trusted to make their own moral decisions. The bad faith criticism of children's television.

That last bit, but extended (break if you don't want to read the extended rant, 'cause that's basically what it is):

The marketing niche for Sesame Street and the marketing niche for something called "Dinosaur Mayhem" would be two completely different age ranges and developmental stages. The game kind of implies stuff like Sesame Street was replaced with things like, say, Transformers or generally unnamed violent kids' cartoons, but that's not true at all.

First, Sesame Street is still running. It's had the occasional threat over the years, but people still see the value of it. Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, the other implied reference, ran practically forever. These days, kids also have things like Paw Patrol, Dora the Explorer, Doc McStuffins, Bluey, and in general a whole lot of perfectly wholesome childrens' programming. There is no lack of love and cooperation in it.

Kids grow into shows with higher stakes and more conflict as they get older and are more ready for that kind of content. They're not going to keep watching shows for 2-6 year olds forever. That's not a failure of media - it's just kids entering a different developmental stage. Not everything is going to be appropriate for the very youngest, and that's actually a good thing.

Diversity of media and media that expands subjects people are exposed to as they get older and can handle it is good. It creates room for creative, interesting shows. It respects the developmental changes kids go through. Gravity Falls, to give an example, is not out-competing Sesame Street.

What gets me also is that there's a bunch of manipulation and negging and you get attacked and defend yourself and the game treats you like a monster for it, and the people who are mistreating the main character as correct. Lil' hinky, I think.

It was just frustrating, so I wanted to rant about it. The game was good and then fumbled the landing.

This is all purely my personal opinion, and you're free to disagree. Any interpretation of a given piece of media is valid, and mine is not correct any more than anyone else. Please don't take this as me claiming the final word. This is just what I personally took away from it.
