I want a Charcoal Cookie
I mean, you can have activated charcoal in food, like charcoal cheddar, black ice cream, other things I can’t find (without the internet telling me there was some sort of trend about putting it in food, I’m just looking for actual food with it). So I mean, it works if you need the Cookies to be made of something edible
Also, maybe with charcoal being burnt wood, they could have a connection to Millennial Tree Cookie? Like, they were once a part of his forest, or even a branch from his tree, that got burnt into charcoal and then turned into a Cookie? And maybe they hold resentment for it? I dunno, just a neat idea pertaining to it I had
And also I want to make a joke about them eating wood to like, keep their powers active, like they have fire powers and they need to eat wood to keep it burning. But also they just eat sticks. Like yes, they eat other food, but they will just chomp on a twig
Just a random thing

Sorry I just need to get this out.
Using the guys as your taste testers for recipes 🥰 like. I’m Korean, so something I always thought was really cute was making kimchi with the family. Like the whole set up where we all sit around a kiddie pool and talk shit about whatever drama we’re watching while seasoning the cabbage.
Can you imagine? Living alone (possible neighbor Simon situation?) and totally still trying to keep up the tradition but it’s hard to make a few jars of kimchi (or idk cookies? We only have large batch recipe and I refuse to math out a smaller measurement 😂) alone and you end up asking Simon or his buddies to help with promises of free food.
Like. Feeding people is my love language. I just want to have get together a with them all and feed them while we criticize whatever trash tv show we end up watching.
Price is trying to keep us on track to finish within a reasonable time but Gaz, Soap, and you are arguing about the drama happening on tv.
Ghost is silently working on whatever Price hands him. He’s secretly enjoying this, don’t let his perma rbf fool you… Might sneak a few bites of food if no one is watching.
Soap is 100% sampling food, don’t even try to stop him and he’s roping Gaz into it as well.
Hand feeding is kinda normal/casual in my family, but I can imagine it would take the guys by surprise at first when you try to feed them something lol.
Flirting? No. Eat 😂
Making kimchi in a kiddie pool together means we’re family now ❤️
Note: I love this??? I love learning abt other peoples' traditions so much. An entire kiddie pool!?!? That's so much food!!! Tell me more!!! Is the Kiddie Pool Technique usually only used for kimchi or can you make other dishes like this too?? idk you don't have to answer any of that if you don't want to, I just love this idea so much
But yes, you're so so right that this is the perfect Neighbor!AU scenario. You tell Simon one day about the tradition, but note how hard it is to do all of it on your own. He offers to help, but you tell him that it'll still be difficult, even with two people.
"Unless you invite your friends, that is."
(Was this a carefully constructed ploy to get the rest of the team to visit? Maybe. Maybe not. You'll never tell.)
Anyway, once the promise of free food has been made, they're all showing up. All of 'em. No question. Price even shows up early to help you prep, along with Simon. He's good at delegating whatever tasks you tell him need to happen, and though he acts like you and the Sergeants are getting on his last nerve by how distracted you get with the TV, he's totally watching too. And he has many opinions about it. Go on, ask him. He'll tell you while trying desperately to pretend he hasn't been paying attention to the show.
Soap and Gaz are definitely completely engrossed in the television. They're still doing good work at whatever tasks they've been given, but they're also making constant comments about the characters/people on the screen (especially Gaz). Simon's just sort of quietly working away, listening in and definitely forming his own opinions about the show, but not offering anything verbally. Protip: Ask him about it later and he's giving you a full analysis.
Now, as for the sampling/eating... listen. I'll be honest with you. Simon's probably got a. Very limited palate. Like, "Beans on toast is culinary genius" limited. He's a working class boy from Manchester, England. Certain brands of ketchup are too spicy for him. (I am allowed to poke fun at him for this because I also suffer from Can't Handle Spice Disease). But!! If there is one thing he is, it's up for new experiences. So he's definitely gonna give it a try. Probably finds out he likes it more than he thought he would (make sure he has some water on hand though).
The rest though? They immediately try and dig in. Does not matter how much you scold them for it, does not matter how much you try to prevent it from happening. None of it works. Even Price once makes the mistake of chastising Soap and Gaz for sampling food while he, himself, has a mouthful. Soap especially cannot. Stop. Eating. It's a miracle if you actually have any kimchi left by the end.
Also LMAO at the idea of you feeding them by hand and them taking it the wrong way. Cause you know they will at first, Soap in particular (Simon and Price may not think much of it, but the other two definitely misconstrue the action as flirtatious). Just imagine you go to hand-feed Soap something and it's just like:
"Ah, flirtin' wi' me in front'a the whole gang, hen?"
"...What? No?? This is what family does. Now eat."
Overall, all of them have a blast. Every so often, one of them will ask Simon when you can all get together and do it again.

cw : grief, loss
i had been walking with the grief, side by side, hands intertwined
my first encounter with grief was when he wandered the hospital aisle, humming a song in a melody i couldn't remember, looking at me dead in the eyes; he smiled at me and said a warm hug is good for the living.
my grandfather had been sleeping for quite long time in the room that smelled like amphetamines. during that time, i saw my grandma moving on autopilot mode. she woke up way too early, made breakfast for two, no sign of tears, with a void stare that can't be masked with repertoire.
"the doctor said, grandpa is in a deep sleep forever." she said one day, hastily after spending a couple minutes on her phone, trying to call her kids. "i have to go to the hospital."
afterwards, she quickly left my room, and i didn't even get to ask why i wasn't invited. i am his first grandchild. wasn't i supposed to know? did i have to be involved? i was grandpa's favorite baby, yet i didn't get to take care of him the same way he used to coddle me. i understand that in the tapestry of family relationships, there are often threads of mystery and unspoken truths, woven into the fabric of our lives. yet, i still felt a clear ache in my heart, wondering why i wasn't invited, why i wasn't entrusted with the care of beloved grandpa as he had also used to cradle me to sleep.
i finally realized years later that her decision to leave me alone in the house was an effort to keep her standing still. deep sleep and death hold two different meanings. deep sleep didn't mean death. it could mean anything, but she surely wished it was anything but death. grandma's decision to leave me was not an act of abandonment but an act of self-preservation, a desperate attempt to keep herself anchored, to prevent the torrential waves of darkness from consuming her fragile being.
that was the first time i shook hand with grief. he was wandering alone at the hospital aisle like a lost voyager. between the hushed corridors of the hospital, amidst the sterile scent of antiseptic and the muffled sounds of footsteps; he decided that we should walk side by side, hands intertwined.
at first, i hated how he smelled like an oakmoss and labdanum. i hated how he always followed me everywhere while pointing at the most useless things possible--- the acacia near an abandoned lake, the forgotten plushie in the corner of my room that used to lull me to sleep, the moon and arcturus. and his annoying blabber was the most obnoxious thing ever: "you want to be a red dwarf and that's not fun", "you should go out more," , "you need to adjust the sugar in the dough" and so many more. he is a bullshitter with polished white, sparkly smile. yet, for some obvious reason, i can never get rid of that despicable pain in the ass.
when i had no more energy to get rid of grief, we started to build a routine we silently agreed on. i let him use the couch to sleep and he got to turn on the tv whenever he wanted. i got to wear his hoodie and he had to bath with my delight scented vanilla soap. my grocery list has expanded a lot because of his presence. we liked different brand of instant noodle; he preferred the mild, brothy one while i liked mine spicy and dry. we also had different opinion on snacks; i preferred salty and sweet chips, and he liked dark chocolate cookies. our shopping basket would be full of assorted treats, a mix of our contrasting passions, reflecting the dichotomy of our existence together. it confused me so much how i didn't mind, how i never questioned his taste, how i felt unbothered by the discordance that lay before me.
we also eat dinner together. he didn't like egg benedict but i kept making it for our dinner anyway. i preferred lattes but he poured me almond milk everytime. the tv was on, we both liked the same show, probably the only time when we were on the same page. sometimes as i looked at grief while he was reluctantly banishing his dinner, i realized how much of a nuisance his presence was in my life. but we still shared meals, conversations, and the occasional laughter. our encounters were marked by contrasting opinions and tastes, but i think it was precisely in those differences that our connection grows stronger.
he once asked me about the painting on my wall, commented about how it didn't really match with my aesthetic. how the color is too dark and muted while the whole house is varnished in bright beige, how it's standing too contrast to the polished brightness of the rest of the house. his comment lingered the air, highlighting incongruity between those artworks and my chosen aesthetic. well, it was a valid observation. i turned to him, meeting his gaze with a mix of uncertainty and enigmatic stare, "you're right," i admitted softly, "it was my grandpa's painting." a piece of him that had found its place in my home, a tangible reminder of his presence in my life. grief nodded, a glimmer of love and pity forming in his peculiar gaze. he hugged me warmly and i found solace in unspoken understanding that lingers between us.
after what felt like an eternity of walking hand in hand with grief, the time came for us to part ways. it was a bittersweet moment, filled with both relief and a bit of sadness. grief packed his favorite cup, his favorite hoodie, and a vinyl of trois petites liturgies de la présence divine. as a parting gift, i gave him my blender because i thought it would be useful for making almond milk. with a nod of understanding and a heartfelt goodbye, we embraced one last time. grief carried his belongings, tangible reminders of our shared experiences, and embarked on his own voyage.
and so, i stood there, watching as grief faded into the distance, carrying with him the memories, the lessons, and the melodies of olivier messiaen's masterpiece.
after that, i go to work as usual, i make my dinner the way i know how, and i let grandpa's paintings as it was. grief will sleep well even if it's on an unfamiliar couch, or bed. we'll wish each other well and i'll get rid of the dark chocolate cookies.
occasionally, grief would make a fleeting visit, like a gentle breeze that rustled through my thoughts. but now, instead of entwining our hands and walking side by side, i greeted him with a nod and acknowledged his presence without letting him interfere my space.
life resume its familiar rhythm. the journey continue, and i am ready to navigate its twists and turns, drawing from the reservoir of strength that he had helped me discover.

🌙🌈✨Astrology Notes✨☄️🌟
*Based on things I’ve noticed about different placements as a Leo sun/Virgo moon/Capricorn rising... these notes may not resonate for everyone but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles baby* MADE BY SONDERASTROLOGY
🧿I see the people I’m close with more as their moon sign with a dash of their sun, almost as if the placements were reversed. This is because the moon sign is sort of hidden at first whereas the sun sign is the core energy. When you befriend or love someone, the moon sign (emotions, mental processes) is slowly uncovered and in my opinion, takes over the general energy of the sun. Of course, all signs, houses, and aspects are important... this is just the way I look at it idk.
🧿Everyone needs a best friend with the same rising sign as your moon sign... they just *get* you.
🧿Also having friends with the same mars sign as you is so important! They can hype you up like no other and vice versa.. your vibes just click.
🧿I’ve noticed that people with opposite sun signs but rising signs in the same element take AMAZING pictures together. For example; A Pisces sun w a Leo rising and a Virgo sun w a Sagittarius rising would make eachother look bomb in photos.
🧿Pisces, cancer, Virgo, and libra placements are proned to being stalked and hit on by weird men... I’ve seen it too many times, protect yourselves!!!
🧿People always tell me that they were intimidated by me at first or even “scared”, and that I give off a bitchy vibe. My placements that indicate this?Capricorn rising (Uranus, Neptune, Lilith in 1st house), Leo venus and Virgo moon in my 8th house, Scorpio MC, Scorpio and Pluto in my 11th house. Other placements that can have this effect: Aries, Scorpio, Aquarius, and Earth signs in personal planets/MC/Rising signs. Personal planets aspecting mars, Pluto, saturn, sometimes Neptune, and Lilith. Mars/Aries, Saturn/Capricorn Pluto/Scorpio in the 1st, 2nd, 7th, 10th, 11th house. 8th house placements and Chart Ruler in the 8th, 10th, and maybe 12th house. There’s definitely a whole lot more placements not just these.
🧿Aquarius/Air dominant people (esp mixed with fire) along with an array of other placements I’m sure, have a VERY hard time with forced structure and routine... it brings out their rebellious nature. My best friend from high school is an Aquarius Sun Gemini Moon (with an Aries mars), and she DESPISED going to school for 7 hours a day, she just couldn’t do it. She would skip school all the time and eventually enrolled in night school. Same went for my other friend who was a Sag sun Gemini moon, both of them would act TF out in class. They’d fight with teachers, the principle, other students... and I really believe it was due to the forced schedules and the power dynamic between teachers and students in high school. The Aquarius sun person is my best friend today, and she’s one of the smartest people I know. Just because you weren’t “good” at school does NOT mean you aren’t smart. Fuck the system is an air sign BRAND.
🧿I’ve noticed A LOT of Gemini sun, moon, and rising people have light shades of hair... mostly blonde or dirty blonde.
🧿I’ve met 4 people born on the 28th of the month and all of them are incredibly beautiful... no matter what sign. Same goes for July Leo’s although I’ve noticed that they’re more arrogant and self centered than August Leo’s who are more generous and outgoing
🧿Your Jupiter sign can help you work with law of attraction and manifestation more effectively. If you have Jupiter in an air sign, try manifesting things by; writing it down, saying it out loud, visualization, and meditation. If you have Jupiter in a fire sign; manifest under the sun, write out a plan even if it’s unrealistic. If you want money, hold even a penny or a dollar and act as if it’s the amount you want. Act as if everything you want is already yours. If you have Jupiter in an earth sign; manifest while doing yoga or on a walk. Manifest outside or read/listen to positive affirmations. Jupiter in a water sign; manifest using crystals and rocks with guidance from tarot. Manifest through the arts and hobbies; draw what you want or make a song. Something where you can use your creativity. *All of these methods for manifestation are effective for all of the signs I just think that certain ways can help certain signs more*
🧿Based off of people I’ve met, air risings aren’t as friendly and bubbly as you’d think they’d be when you first meet them. Even their vibe seems nervous and closed off at first; standing with arms crossed, shoulders inward, I dont know just sort of shy. Once they open up a bit more then their weird side comes out and they become more goofy and carefree. I think air signs of all placements struggle deeply with anxiety even though they are often portrayed as outgoing and quirky, which they are but a thin viel covers it. No matter what, air placements keep an open mind and I’ve always felt like I could be myself around them.
🧿Libra placements are known for disliking confrontational disputes but I’ve noticed that these are the same people to whisper nasty things under their breathe when you start to walk away from an argument... they have you whip back around like “do you have something to say?!”
🧿I’ve seen this before and imo it’s true! Signs in the 8th house rule addictions... I saw someone post that having a water sign in the 8th house could indicate addictions to liquid, more specifically; caffeine and alcohol. Being addicted to something is in other words creating a bond with it- water signs are naturally bonded with liquid so it makes sense that their prone to being addicted to them. Water signs occupying the 8th house might always drink water or have water with them. Since the 8th house also rules finances to an extent, most of their money might go to coffee, drinks, beach vacations etc. For fire signs over the 8th house, they could be addicted and/or spend a lot of money on smoking, spicy foods, or anything that gives them a rush; rollercoasters, haunted houses, skydiving or even drugs like esctacy/cocaine... anything that gives them that thrill or lights a match in their stomach. Earth signs in the 8th house may be addicted to physical things; money, work, food, looks,... things that give them value or that call on their senses and ego. They could hoard/collect items such as coins, cars, beauty products, etc., or generational items passed down... due to bonding with things that they can bulid/see/show off overtime. They are very attached to the physical because as an earth sign it feeds their ego and value, like a tree growing in soil. Money could mostly go to eating, gambling, plastic surgery, materialistic stuff. They could be addicted to buying things and selling them for a higher price. Air signs occupying the 8th house could point to spending a lot of money on or being addicted to technology or all things ‘relevant’. These individuals might be addicted to their phones/social media and the attention they get from it. These people are always posting stories throughout the day or online shopping or even just browsing different apps. They’re addicted to getting information via books, the internet, and through talking to other people... oftentimes these individuals are very good at making money through the internet (depending on other placements ofc). They may spend a lot of money on books, new gadgets, music, tattoos and puzzles. These people are addicted to all things new! They have a thirst for knowledge and experiences and will seek it out effectively. 🧿When I look at a person’s birth chart, whatever gender, I especially pay close attention to their Mars sign and house. To me, Mars represents the overall energy and vibe a person gives off and the house placement is where it’s most naturally acted out. For example ; Aries Mars in the 6th house. Aries Mars person would give off a hyper, motivated, impulsive energy. Physically this could manifest as shaking their leg while sitting, quick movements,standing/walking instead of sitting down, gives off a more to the point and carefree attitude (keep in mind all of this is affected by many other aspects and placements in a chart). Being in the 6th house, ruling day to day routine, health, how we act at work, etc., this means that the Aries Mars characteristics are more prominent during work and day to day rituals (quicker to learn, effectively performing daily tasks, gets shit done, or they could get into arguments at work easily, constantly rush around, might be stubborn about seeing a doctor/health professional, might be more prone to getting headaches at work or in general) again, depending on the rest of the chart

so you’ve been roleplaying for years... things change, the way the community does things shift, and sometimes there’s new skills you need to pick up and adjust to in order to make your time rping as creatively rich and fulfilling as it can be. one of those things that’s become extremely important is plotting & hcing. either in groups, in indie, or doing 1x1s, these two are the foundation to your interaction (unless you’re the type to wing it). sometimes when i interact with people, it seems they don’t really click with this process, so in the guide below, i’ll help to explain why these are so important, and how to do it in a way that not only gives you a rich plot, but helps inspire and keep your writing partner engaged with you.
disclaimer --- this is just my personal experience and opinions being shared. i am not the end-all-be-all on how to interact with writing partners. this is just here to get people to begin thinking about things they otherwise wouldn’t have thought about.
questions regarding this help post can be found here. let’s jump in!
WHY IS PLOTTING & HCING SO IMPORTANT?
firstly, rp has changed a lot since the days of launching into an rp or writing a random starter for a new follower. things are a lot more established and regardless of if you’re in a bio/skeleton rp with pre-written connections, or you’re in a new plotless group or indie and you’re coming up with them on your own, it’s a major foundation to your writing experience, so don’t treat it lightly!
secondly, regardless of format, and with the shifts in rp culture, behind the scenes plotting & hcing is crucial to the development of your plot & characters. as writers, we take more time with our replies so development on dash happens a lot slower. personally i don’t mind that, but i don’t want that to hinder my writing experience so i like taking things behind the scenes to help build up dynamics and situations so the whole relationship isn’t based off one or two threads/instances.
lastly, it helps to keep things inspiring. sound dumb? you bet, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles baby. so many times i have plotted ships, sibling relationships, best friends, or other core relationships, and wanted to sink my teeth in relationship lore and background and dynamics, only to be returned with “hahah yes! i love that!” now i understand this is never ill-intentioned, but it does suck the muse right out the situation. if you do not validate & expand on your partner’s ideas, it’s not going to make that writer’s ideas feel appreciated or loved. the way to tell them you love their ideas? sink your teeth right back and send an equally meaty response right back!
PART ONE: SO YOU WANT TO PLOT
you don’t need this post to tell you how to come up with plot ideas, that’s a whole different guide, but let’s say you’re in the brainstorming process. you’re throwing ideas back and forth based on your muse’s two backgrounds and seeing what sticks. what is SUCH a downer, is when a writing partner is just ... not contributing. yes, we are all guilty of the line “i’m open to anything!” but try and limit yourself to using that line once in a conversation. hell, i prefer it when a person doesn’t even say it at all and they’re HONEST. if i come in guns-a-blazing and i ask ‘what plots do you need filled?’ if a person responds with ‘i need someone who hurt my muse’ there’s two option, i fill that plot, or i don’t. it’s that simple. don’t be afraid to say what you want, the worst that can happen is the person says ‘eh, i don’t really think that fits my character’ and you come up with something else! but when you’re already passionate about the idea, you’re setting yourself up for such great success!
so what do you do when your one (1) braincell isn’t working and you can’t come up with any connection ideas? two options, you can either go to one of the dozens of guides for basic connection ideas and give your partner something, or you can look at the other person’s bio, and your muse, and try and find connections between them. both of these are painfully easy! i’m a personal fan of the latter as it seems a bit more grounded and juicy than the former, but those can be twisted into something great too! **if you’re in a group setting, even asking what that person’s other connections are, and piggybacking off of that. these create super spicy connections. example: you find out muse a is muse b’s ex, and your muse, muse c, is best friends w muse b, so it’s safe to assume your muse c will probably not get along with muse a.
this important thing is not to make your partner feel like they’re doing all the work. because that’s never fun, and truthfully, it doesn’t make that person want to write with you if you’re not also putting in the elbow grease. plotting is fun, not a chore! make it a party!
PART TWO: NOW YOU HAVE TO BACK IT UP
you’ve got your plot now, congrats! and you’re so excited. but now you need that plot to be fleshed out a bit. there’s some history there so you’ve got to establish it. in comes the powerhouse--- my favorite part to this whole thing: HCING. it’s the most laid back, and in my opinion, creative part of the rping process. truthfully, i enjoy it more than threads because of the absolute insanity you can dig up. but i only love it if my partner can hand it back just as i can serve it.
maybe you’ve never quite thought that this part was that important, but i can assure you, if a person is giving you 3+ sentences about the dynamic of your characters, they’re trying to hc with you, and if you don’t enrich them, your dynamic is going to wither away.
i brought up an idea in the first part of this guide that’s extremely important to how you hc with your writing partner: VALIDATE & EXPAND. it’s the idea that no matter how much or how little your rp partner gives you in terms of an hc, you respond to it with a validation, which can range anywhere from ‘i LOVE that’ to as simple as a key smash and the pleading emotion, or even repeating a fraction of what they said to show you understand their vision. but then you have to back that up with expanding on that idea. hcs could be about a situation or about your writing partner’s character, so expand on how your character feels and reacts to things. it’s beyond discouraging when i write a whole idea out, explaining how my character feels in this emotionally intense setting, and my writing partner only gives me the validation portion, and now i have no idea how my opp’s character thinks, feels, or interacts.
see, a point i mentioned above is the fact that threads don’t work like they used to. and that’s fine! but hcing is an easy and fun way to make up for the fact that we take time with our threads now. if you’re rping to find rich, in-depth, satisfying dynamics, it’s going to take many many months to get your understanding of your opp’s muse, and the relationship they have, hcing fast tracks that process. i’m writing with you, i love your muse, give me the dirty details, i promise it’s not obnoxious. the more your give back, the more you will receive. so why wait around, sitting on our thumbs for me to fully get a grasp of your character’s voice, and your character’s thoughts, when we could do that on chat and have a grand time.
but now you’re thinking to yourself: okay, but how exactly do i validate and expand? and for that, we go to EXAMPLE-BOT 3000 !! not a real bot, unfortunately, but example bot has dug up a personal interaction i’ve had hcing. for context, this is a 1x1 writing partner i’ve had for years. we have an excellent dynamic and they are perfect. they have also given me permission to use our convos as example.
here is my message [ CONTEXT: this is a sandbox-star-wars-esque verse]
Okay but I had a thot in the shower,,, where the best thoughts are had. And what if,,, after this meeting and they part ways and such and it was just another weird occurrence in their lives, blastis gets a mission and it’s either to protecc salia or like guide salia across the galaxy to do something smth and save some lives or whatever. And ofc not because she couldn’t take care of herself but he has smth she doesn’t that gives an edge or just a close loved one of her’s didn’t want to see her get hurt. So you have these two traveling across the galaxy,,, sometimes arguing bc she can manage herself but he’s just fulfilling the mission. And them both kicking but. And all the steamy tension and cliches.
let’s break this message down before we get into the response. first, hcs don’t have to be formal. they are the most fun when they’re less together and don’t rely so much on “sounding good”. you’re just rolling off the top of your brain, chatting like you would with a friend, don’t worry too much on formalities because this isn’t the place for that.
i am also presenting my idea in a way that is confident, and with plenty of ideas to work on. i am involving my partner’s character but not godmodding. i am taking things i have learned from character introductions (like salia being independent and empowered, and wanting to do good/help others) and not disrespecting them, but having her take part in the plot. there are also small bits at the end of this idea that are little nuggets to build off of.
let’s look at my partner’s response.
AAAAH okay i love the idea!!! however shes a v. freelance kinda healer and doesnt really take official things. and she doesnt have loved ones that would know if there was danger - she can telepathically communicate with her own people but if she doesnt want them to know things they cant just. force their way in its a Closed Communication line not an open invitation into her thoughts asdfghjsh. But i could imagine that some guy or family hire her to find their children maybe who were lost on their adventure/mission with friends and the last message sounded like one was hurt,,, badly. and the other cant help for some reason. and they hire blastis to both protect her and later the people shes supposed to heal??
but anYWAY the Important part is ofc. the tension. and his big ass in her ship bc why would she?? take another if hers is right there. so hes gonna take that single bed and not complain. but ooof those two?? just kicking ass and being amazing. growing on each other more and more.
right off the bat is validation. and validation doesn’t have to be as direct as it is in this message. the validation is important here specifically, my partner showed they were interested and supportive of the idea i presented, but needed the plot to fit in their character’s story better. we see them making adjustments--- this is a collaborative experience so i alone shouldn’t be the one coming up with the plot, nor would i want my idea taken just as is. instead they mold it to fit what makes sense, getting more specific than my idea with a “mission purpose”. this is where the bouncing off of each other begins.
they then take the “bait” and start building on the tension our muses will experience (this is a ship afterall). while this is the beginning of our conversation, and there’s aren’t specific moments we’re working off of, this is setting the ground for future headcanons (see: the focus on sexual tension, living in a ship together, kicking butt), we are both mutually giving each other little tethers to take hold of. this is a very good start to begin working out the dynamic and situations these two characters are found in, with multiple different launch-off points.
CONCLUSION
there’s no right or wrong way to rp. even the tips listed here might not be applicable to your style, just having the idea in the back of your mind helps. the important thing is you and the person you’re writing with are having fun. you both are respecting each other’s time and ideas and creating a beautiful dynamic or world or relationship. this is a collaborative experience, and it’s important not to leave your partner feeling like they’re doing all the heavy lifting creatively.
hope this helped! as always, you can send me any questions you have in regards to this topic HERE. you can find a tag of answered questions in relation to this topic HERE.

BJYX Food Blog
Ahhhhhh I love food so much!!!! hahahaha So I decided to record down all the times food show how much they love each other. This is mostly just for me. Since this is a “food blog”, instead of “evidence” which you can find elsewhere in other people’s analysis posts, I will instead include yummy photos of food. Will continue to update this list.
Disclaimer: All fanfiction.
1) Pancake - I talked about this in detail here. In summary, dd is bragging about how “homey” he is that he can make pancake. The recipe uses butter, something only people that bake in China will have. Gg likes to bake cookies (even sugar-free one, haha gg is more detail-orientated and health conscious than me) and bread. Apparently gg also loves cheese and dd mentioned that his pancake has cheese.
Tumblr media
2) Love on the Rocks or Love’s Water - This supper famous drink in China’s Starbucks is actually black currant juice + raspberry juice + black tea. You can make it easily at home (it’s not available in U.S. Starbucks). Because of BJYX, you can order it as “Love’s Water” directly at Starbucks in Chinese (Yes, Starbucks knows about them.) Why is it call Love’s Water? It’s red, the color of love while also sweet and sour. Also, it’s actually gg’s favorite drink at Starbucks. You can often seen him drinking it during the filming of the Untamed. What about dd? It’s been mention by gg that dd only drinks water. However, during Untamed filming, dd can also be seen drinking Love’s Water from Starbucks. Does love change a person’s preference in drinks?
Tumblr media
3) Green tea - We’ve all seen the BTS where they share green tea from the same bottle, twice. However, what’s even more interesting is that dd kept the preference of drinking green tea even after filming. Fans have caught dd drinking green tea during ttxs taping and there are pictures of bottle of green tea in his van. He’s also mention liking green tea with dls on ttxs.
Tumblr media
4) Hot pot
a. Soup - Gg used to say because he’s from Chongqing, he likes spicy hotpot. However, after 2018, he mentioned that he now like twin-sided pot (half spicy, half not). Is he sharing a pot with someone who doesn’t eat spicy food that much? In clips from early 2018, we see dd not being able to handle spicy food. However, in 2020, we see him ordering a completely spicy soup base (him being the only one out of the 4 people to do so). What changed for both of them?
Tumblr media
b. Sauce - In Chongqing where gg is from, you eat hotpot with a spicy oil sauce. Gg used to say that was what he preferred. However, in an interview, he picked sesame sauce over the spicy oil sauce. He also mentions that he loves the sauce with sweet garlic. If you go back to old video of dd, he has always love sesame sauce with garlic. He also mentioned in ttysj earlier this year that he loves hot pot with sesame sauce with sweet garlic. However, in j5, we see him eating his hot pot with spicy oil sauce. What happened? Are they trying to become each other?
Edit - dd was asked recently why he changed from his sesame sauce to spicy oil sauce and he said “I learned it from a friend I met from filming.” And he said it’s because it makes the hot pot less spicy, and most important, the flavor suits him.
Tumblr media
c. Dried yamakurage - Ngl, I’ve never heard of this vegetable before today. Many people from different parts of China was in the same boat. Google search told me that it’s a vegetable they like to add in hot pot in Chongqing. Dd mentioned in ttxs that he likes this vegetable. In j5, you can also find this vegetable on the table.
Tumblr media
d. “Treasure in the palm” - What is that? Ya, I had no idea either until dd ordered it for his hotpot. (Many other Chinese audience on WB also has never heard of it.) Apparently it’s the ligament in the middle of a chicken’s claw. I did some Google research and it seems like it’s mostly eaten bbq style or stir fry. So I searched “掌中宝” + hotpot and got the result that it’s eaten in hotpot in....drumroll....Chongqing! (Yes, where gg is from.) So ya......
Tumblr media
e. Cow stomach - Another thing dd ordered. This time, this is something dd has always like to eat and has said it since 2017. However, it’s gg that mentioned in an interview that he also like to eat this for his hot pot now. Previously, when asked what his favorite hot pot meat is, he said “beef.” Maybe he just suddenly change his mood?
Tumblr media
I just found these amazing videos from this Youtube Channel about Szechuan (around the area gg is from) hotpot so check them out for more information.
5) Zongzi - Where gg is from (southern China), we’re use to eating savory Zongzi with meat, peanuts, eggs, etc inside. But where dd is from (northern China), they think zongzi should be sweet with red bean, etc.. During an interview when ask to pick between sweet vs savory zongzi, gg immediately picked savory. However, dd wavered and then picked savory at the end.
Tumblr media
6) Eggplant - Gg said that he eats anything except eggplant because he once threw up when he was younger eating eggplant and it left a trauma on him. Unfortunately for him, the prepared food during CQL had a lot of eggplant because it was in season where they were filming. The actor of LXC during a livestream also mentioned that gg doesn’t like to eat eggplant. Then he followed up by saying that dd loves to eat eggplant. But if you watch ttxs, none of the host ever mentions dd likes eggplant (they constantly mention that he loves cilantro, durian, snail rice noodles, etc.). Also in an episode when there was eggplant, dd didn’t actively try to eat some. So maybe during their filming time, someone doesn’t like to eat eggplant and gave theirs to another person, causing LXC’s confusion?
Tumblr media
From my own opinion, I think gg is the type of person that values food a lot. You can see him craving certain food and be very picky about the type of food he likes to eat. He also knows how to cook well so his standard for good food is high. I think dd is the type of person that likes food but isn’t super picky of the type of food he eats, as long as it’s good, he’s happy. So he’s more likely to just enjoy the same food that gg likes because that will make both of them happy. I don’t think either of them purposefully change their food preference for each other but more that your food habit changes naturally when you spend a lot time with another person.
7. Cough Drop
When watching Street Dancing, there was a clip of all the team leaders sitting down watching and dd pulled out a “candy.” The leader next to him asked him if he was eating candy and he pulled out a pack and shared it with others. He even reached over to make sure he shared his candy with everyone. It was such a cute moment and looked like elementary school children sharing snacks. It’s cute and that’s it, right?
Nope, bxg have to live up to the title of “Detective Conan/Sherlock Holmes”. People start digging through old pictures and found one where they saw the same brand “candy”, which was actually cough drops in gg’s back from several years back. The version dd was eating was a “peach flavor version” meant for children. What was interesting is that he ate the peach version himself but shared a different version with others. This was confirm by the company that made the cough drops. (CPN) It’s possible that he’s savoring the peach ones for himself because gg gave them to him specially.
So gg and dd have the same cough drop. That’s it, right? Nope, more Detective Conan popped out and found several videos of fan-meeting in Thailand when gg was eating a cough drop and dd was coughing. Then gg asked some assistant for the cough drop, yes the same exact brand, and then handed them to dd. You can also see dd have something in this mouth before he went on stage. This tells us that gg has definitely given dd this cough drop before.
But are we sure that the supply of cough drop dd has is from gg? Probably, because of what happen in XGDS. During XGDS, dd was eating a cough drop. Normally, other friends, like the people in street dancing will see that and say, “oh you’re eating a candy?” But when gg saw, he asked “does your throat hurt?” This means that gg knew that dd was eating a cough drop immediately. How would he know that? Unless he’s the one who gave it to him. (This story has more logic and evidence than papers I’ve read in Cell/Nature/Science.)
Fun fact - some fan bought it and said it taste terrible LOL It taste too sweet on the outside and taste like medicine on the inside (which it is technically herbal medicine.) So don’t recommend trying it.

Spirit Of The Season

Words: 1208 Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader Request: “Weeellll I had the idea as I was baking today. That Bucky has a German girlfriend but she doesn't feel like the other avengers accept her, so she starts making Christmas cookies and everything she knows from her home and brings them to the compound. Everyone loves the stuff and they make sure to tell her that they love her already (not only because of her cookies) and that they are happy for Buck as well and he gets really proud to call her his? 😊    - @tieddown-withbattleshipchains Summary: Bucky comes homes to find his girlfriend, Reader, has practically turned their kitchen into a German bakery. Reader explains to him that it’s very important that his friends like her and baking is her way of showing love. ❤️❤️ A/N: I’m a 4th generation French-American on both sides of my family. (There’s a nice mix of most Europe and a decent slice of Native American too.) So I didn't have much of a background for traditional German pastries. I tried my best to Google, and also did some rough Google translate for small sections. Hope everything is okay!
Tumblr media
“Mmm so many smells!” Bucky Barnes followed the sweet and spicy scents through the apartment to the kitchen. It seemed you had turned the very small room into a one-woman bakery. Eggs, flower, butter, cinnamon and dozens of other ingredients were laid out on the table. “What exactly am I smelling?”
“Hello mein Schatz.”  You greeted your boyfriend with a large smile. “You may be smelling vanilla, cardamom, rum, chocolate…”
“Yeah, there’s a lot going on here.” He acknowledged. “Are we having a bake sale? I mean there’s cakes, cookies…What is all this, Love?”
“It is Christmas time.” You explained. You covered the dough that you’d just finished kneading so that it could rest.
“Not for another week and even then, we won’t be able to eat all this food.” He reached for a nearby springerle cookie. You lightly swatted at his hand.
“These are not for us!” you told him firmly.
“Are you mailing all of this back home?” He wondered, taking a mental inventory of the desserts. “Food doesn’t usually do well in the mail.”
“No.” You shook your head. “These are German recipes. Oma and Mama will make many of these dishes themselves. They’re the ones who taught the recipes to me. These are for your friends.”
“My…? Do you mean the team?” Bucky asked. “[Y/N], aside from Rogers and maybe Wilson, and that is a very large maybe, they’re not my friends. They’re like my…coworkers.”
“They are more than coworkers.” You disagreed. “Last week you and Clint spent an entire day at the theater watching all the Terminator films. Just yesterday Natasha asked you to help her create a new training plan, did she not?” Bucky nodded; he began to open his mouth to argue his point further, but you stopped him. “They are your friends Bucky. They are your friends which makes them your familie. It is important to me that your familie like me.”
“Like you? Why wouldn’t they?” He questioned.
“I am not strong like Steve or smart like Stark. What I can do is cook. I show my love by cooking. So tomorrow, we will bring all these things to the compound and your friends will love me.” You explained. “Now get out of my kitchen. I still have lots of work to do.” You began waving your hands trying to shoo him out of the kitchen.
Tumblr media
“I just want to state again for the record that you do not need to bring my coworkers and friends food for them to like you.” Bucky insisted as he parked his car in the compound’s parking lot.
“Yes, yes.” You ignored him as you stepped out of the car. “You have made your opinion very clear. Help me carry things.” You handed him a stack of Tupperware containers and a loaf of bread wrapped in foil. You loaded your own arms with the remainder of food. The two of you walked into the compound where you bumped into Sam Wilson.
“[Y/N! It’s been a minute!” Sam smiled as soon as he saw you. “I’ve been asking Barnes for a while when he’d take you by to see us again. Is that food? A woman after my own heart.” He placed a hand on his chest to emphasize his words.
“There is plenty for everyone. Will you tell the others?” You asked him.
“I don’t know if I can do that, [Y/N]. If I tell the others they’ll want some and that would mean less for me.” Sam explained. “Bucky brought in some leftovers of that pie you made last month for Thanksgiving, no way I’m willing to share this stuff with the rest of these guys if it’s half as good as that was.”
“You had some of my pie? And you liked it?” You smiled.
“Are you kidding me? That was one of the best pies I’ve ever had! I’m excited to see what else you’ve brought. C’mon,” he waved you on. “Kitchen is this way.”
“Buck! [Y/N]!” Steve and Natasha were heading towards the kitchen from another corridor and they came to meet you just outside of the kitchen door.
“Are those linzer cookies?” Natasha asked pointing to jelly filled cookies with heart shaped cut outs in the center that were visible in one of the containers.
“Well spotted!” You nodded.
“Please tell me those are for us, I would kill for a good homemade cookie and from what Rogers, Wilson and Barnes say your baking is the best.” Nat smiled. You continued to smile proudly.
“Ok, let’s let her at least put everything down first.” Bucky suggested. He stepped into the kitchen and the rest of you followed. Tony, Clint and Rhodey were all in the kitchen already. Tony was fiddling with his expresso machine. Rhodey was cooking bacon and eggs. Clint was leaning against the counter and eating dry cereal straight from the box.
“Oh hey [Y/N]!” Clint was the first to greet you. He popped a handful of cereal in his mouth before setting the box of cereal aside. “It’s been too long, Come here.” He stepped closer to you, holding his arms open for a hug.
“Oh.” You were surprised. You set your stack of baked goods down on the nearest surface so that you were free to hug Clint back.
“I’m glad you’re here!” Clint said as you separated. “The wife and I were just talking about how we’d love to do a double dinner date one night after Christmas.”
“You and your wife would want to spend time with me and Bucky?” You questioned him.
“Of course!” Clint insisted. “We loved hearing your stories about growing up in Germany and Laura has been dying to swap recipes with you. So just let me know when you guys are free and we’ll set something up. Now which one of these do I want to try first?” He gestured to the cakes, cookies and breads in front of him.
“The springerle are my favorite.” Bucky said, opening the container of the aforementioned cookies.
“Hey, [Y/N], never mind the baked goods. Tell Rhodey about the time you tried to steal a reindeer from the zoo!” Tony insisted, sipping from his coffee.
“I told that story at your Christmas party last year, you remembered?” Your cheeks hurt from smiling so much.
“Of course I was paying attention. It’s every kids dream to take something home from the zoo.” Tony told you.
“Hang I have got to hear this. What happened?” Sam asked.
“I was very little.” You reminded them. “We were here visiting family in America and I thought that the reindeer would fly me back home.” As you recounted the tale of how you managed to remove a reindeer from the petting zoo and get to almost to the main gate of the zoo before anyone realized it, you watched Bucky’s friends. They were listening intently. They laughed and smiled at all the appropriate times. They asked you more questions and when your story was done they asked for more. They shared holiday stories of their own too. After a little while you began to think maybe Bucky had been right all along. The Avengers liked you just fine and already considered you part of their familie.

i said i’d say my spicy opinion and here i go:
anime and weeb trolls are unoriginal and terrible when played straight and it’s so pervasive in the community.
there’s also the whole low-key fetishization of east asian (read: japanese and somehow only japanese) culture by folks who aren’t east asian, but i’m not east asian so i can only raise a brow and curl a lip at non-asian folk rather than lead an educated controlled burn of the obsession people have with it
but what i CAN talk about as a writer is how absolutely cookie cutter people are with their anime and weeb characters. there are a dozen trolls that fit the following stuff:
your seifuku anime girl, who’s secretly tough, a lesbian, and part of a girl gang as a way to subvert the racist meek trope but in reality, people focus too much on the sexualization of the literal high school girl uniformed asian troll
your ninja assassin, with a katana and/or an oni/kitsune mask
your female big boss character, in traditional kimonos or yukatas with humongous honkaroos and the outfits pulled down to showcase them
literally just a background character in black butler. just a dude in a suit and probably glasses. you know what i’m talking about, you can see it in your mind’s eye
the decora yandere troll (pink colored, possibly in a lolita dress or a seifuku)
your meek geisha characters who run a tea shop and may be an assassin on the side who kills targets with needles. a subsection of the ninja assassin, really
like there are so many things people can write about, but people go for the same old tropes all the damn time and it’s not even done well half the time. watch something other than anime! read something else other than manga! be self aware of the shit you make and for gods sake stop being weird about east asian people and culture!
you guys can have japanese characters but at least fucking put some effort into making them into actual people, not cheap copies of common tropes. is that all you guys can think of when you make japanese characters? just these tropes? you aint got a single original bone in your body to not reduce it down to these?
jesus christ you guys

1. What kind of textures do you enjoy most in your food? Crunchy, crispy, soft, hard, grainy, slimy, etc? I definitely don’t like hard or slimy textures. That just sounds gross lol.
2. Do you keep up any seasonal decorations outside of their season?  The Christmas decorations in my room have been up for 2 years. :X
3. Can you remember the most awkward situation you've ever been in? What happened? Way too many of those. My life is an awkward situation.
4. Can you remember the most scary situation you've ever been in? What happened? There’s been several scary situations. I don’t feel like getting into any of those.
5. Do you do anything unusual to help you concentrate? Some people find ASMR unusual, but *shrug* It’s helpful for myself and many others.
6. Do you ever wonder what your parents were like as children/teenagers? They’ve told me stories and other family members have shared stories as well, but yeah.
7. Do you think suicide is ever "okay?" I can’t answer this in a easy or simple way, it’s a lot deeper than that. It would require a serious discussion and I do not want to get into that.
8. Would you rather a close family member/close friend/significant other die of suicide or murder? Why is this? Wtf kind of question is this???
9. In your opinion, what is the worst thing someone could ever do? Rape/murder/abuse.
10. In your opinion, what is the best thing someone could ever do? That’s harder to answer cause there’s a lot of good/best things someone could do.
11. Do you think about any fellow xangans outside of xanga? I’ve seen things, like while scrolling through my dash or something, that made me think of a few of you on here.
12. What military installation is the closest to you? Hmm.
13. Do you still open your windows during winter? I don’t open my window ever.
14. How cold is too cold? How hot is too hot? When I have to layer up and can’t get warm and when I’m hot and miserable and feeling like shit.
15. Would you rather lose both legs or both arms? Why? As a paraplegic, losing my arms would have a much bigger impact on me.
16. If you committed a crime that landed you in prison for the rest of your life, but were given the option to receive the death sentence instead, which would you choose? Why? Jeez, this survey...
17. Is there any specific album you can listen to in its entirety and enjoy every single song? There’s a few.
18. Would you rather be a famous movie star, television star, or musician? None of those, thanks.
19. If you are not religious, have you ever eaten dinner with a group of people that were and said grace before eating? How was this for you? If you are religious and say grace before dinner, have you ever eaten dinner with a group of people that weren't and didn't say grace before eating? How was this for you? My faith and relationship with God only started a few years ago, so I’ve been in the first situation many times throughout my life. I had no issue with it, I was respectful about it. I just sat there quietly until they were done. I usually even lowered my head as well, I just didn’t pray. I’ve since been on the other side and there isn’t an issue. I admittedly don’t do it often, which is something I’d like to change, but when I do I just say a little prayer in my head and then carry on.
20. Do you think an evil Santa or an evil Easter Bunny would make a better villain in a horror movie? Evil Santa. “Ho, ho, ho, it’s time for you to go.” ha.
21. Did you ever think any fictional story-book character was creepy as a child? Do you still think any of them are creepy? Goosebump books! I loved ‘em, though.
22. Would you rather wear nothing but white or nothing but black? Is there any color you'd actually want to wear head-to-toe? >> Nothing but black, since that’s what I mostly do anyway. <<< Same. I feel most comfortable in black. I couldn’t wear all white, it would for sure get stained.
23. What physical/mental health problems run in your family? Do you have any of the same problems? Diabetes, some cancers, back problems, bad eyesight, depression, anxiety...
24. What is your mental and physical health like right now? I talk about my health, especially my mental health, all the time.
25. If you found a suit case (with no information about the owner) with a million dollars inside of it , would you turn it into the police or keep it? Be honest. ;] Honestly, I’d think it was too suspicious and part of a setup or something. I would be afraid of risking getting involved in something I don’t want to be involved in. A million dollars is a shitload of money to just be transported around like that. Like why is it being transported around and not in a bank? I think I’d just anonymously inform the cops of a suspicious suitcase and leave it at that.
26. Would you rather gaze at the stars or clouds? “Look at the stars, look how they shine for you and everything you do. They were all yellow.”
27. Are they any foods you used to enjoy but no longer like? Are there any foods you used to dislike but now enjoy? I can’t have spicy foods anymore, haven’t been able to for a few years now, but it still makes me sad. It’s not that I don’t like it anymore, I was obSESSED with spicy food, I just can’t tolerate it anymore cause of some health reasons. It sucks. My appetite has changed a lot as well the past few years, so I just don’t even eat like I used to. I used to be such a foodie. As for food I used to dislike but now enjoy... I can’t think of any.
28. Do you feel much older or younger than you are? Why? Both. I think I feel older cause of some physical health reasons and just feeling broken, rundown, and exhausted (no offense to older people, hell there’s a lot of older people who are doing much better than me and have a lot more energy). I feel younger, too. I’m a child at heart, but I also just don’t feel like someone who is in their 30s. I don’t know, man. It’s hard to explain. 29. Did you get along with kids that were older or younger than you? A lot of my friends were a year younger than me. I never was held back or anything, I was just a year older than most of the kids in my class for some reason.
30. Do you know any magic tricks?  Not anymore, but I dabbled a bit with card tricks when I was a kid.
31. How much would life suck for you if you had a wheat allergy? Oh, man. No cookies, cakes, donuts, muffins, wheat bread, bread crumbs (my mom uses breadcrumbs when she makes her meatballs, which I love, and I also like it on mac and cheese), condiments, salad dressing, sauces, or deli meats??? I love all those things. :( 32. Are you able to watch gory scenes in movies? Why or why not? I can handle it for the most part. The worst that always comes to mind when asked this is a particular scene in Midsommar. That was tooooo much.
33. Do you constantly check the time? Does time seem to move quickly or slowly for you? It does feel that way. My life is very scheduled and routine. Like, I take medicine at certain times and I tend to eat around the same time. Even when it comes to drinking water and whatnot. I’ll be like, okay in an hour I’ll start on my first water bottle of the day and then around [insert time here] I’ll eat something. Time often seems to move very slowly in the day by day, but then I can look back and be like how is July already almost over??
34. Would you rather live in a nice house in a bad location, or a less-than-nice house in a great location? I would much rather live in a nice location where I feel safer.
35. Have you ever been a witness to a horrible crime? What happened? I’ve witnessed a drunk driving swerving on the highway, a domestic violence situation (they were in the car driving on the highway, too!), and animal abuse. Each of those times I called the cops.

May we have a recap, please? :)
**spoilers for panic at the art show and home for the holidays**
OK people. I actually don’t have a ton of commentary on these two so I’m gonna try and keep it (relatively) short and sweet [Edit from Future Me: Failed Step 1].
Also, iirc, this is the week Dropout starts streaming new Fantasy High eps on Wednesdays which is very dope and I am very excited for. I probably won’t do full on recaps like I do for normal eps because, lbr, I don’t strictly have the time to be recapping these eps at all and it’s pure stubbornness that keeps me from making wiser time management decisions. But, rest assured, if I have an Opinion, you will hear it whether you want to or not.
Anyway, on with the show.
Last recap, I mentioned that this ep was giving me Aelwen house party vibes and now it reminds me of that ep in another way: Everyone rolled like TRASH almost the entire ep. It was so frustrating! They barely got any hits in until like halfway through the ep.
(Aw man, I just realized I’m gonna have to remember which spelling of Aelwen is correct again now that FH is coming back.)
I love how Murph is immediately like, “I need to make sure my wife doesn’t die during this fight avenging her fictional husband.”
Isabella also has Aelwen’s trick of poofing around the battlefield which is annoying as hell (ha) for the group.
Siobhan hilariously casts fear on Priya just to be spiteful. I thought she was doing it to help the evac process but no. It was a purely spiteful action. Bless.
When Kug turns into an ape he, of course, turns into *the* NY ape, King Kong.
“I roll a nat 20 on an epic shit.”
When Brennan was describing Kingston’s spectral New Yorker Guardians I was already thinking about that one part of Spiderman 2 (the OG Toby Mac version) and then he straight up said, “You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us,” and I lost it.
“Deny the stairs the pleasure of my feet.” Emily is a poet.
I want to know what makes a pigeon spicy more than anything.
The fact that Brennan killed Ox AGAIN and then immediately looked into the camera and let the audience know the dog was fine because he clearly Oracle stared into the future between eps and saw the entire internet sharpening their pitchforks  was so funny.
About midway through the ep, Pete tries and fails to send Isabella back to hell and Isabella starts monologing about her plans and connection with Robert Moses (she stole the list from Santa and is/was gonna marry Moses apparently). I wonder if Brennan was like, “These players are for sure gonna murder her without getting any useful info out of her unless she goes full Bond Villain right now.”
And, proving my point, Emily immediately does 56 points of damage, royally f-ing Isabella up.
This is a really civilian heavy fight which feels weird in a way the FH fights never did. Like, these aren’t even civilians who live in an adventuring town in a fantasy world. These are just normal ass civilians in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Pete fails a wild magic roll after failing to teleport into the building and then gets a choice of getting really strong (which prob would have let him bust down the door) or to teleport in (which is what he does and exactly what he wanted). Very clutch when the dice rolls play into the story like that.
Kingston lightning bolts Isabella’s hair off which is just malicious but also totally called for.
On her next turn, Sophie gets hurt on purpose to get low enough to activate her ring, lets her hair burn for long enough to shorten it to a cute bob, insults Isabella, then knocks her tf out.
I love that Emily took one of her teeth (a seemingly crazy move) and when called out by Lou was like, “It’s a link to Robert Moses” (a completely reasonable answer). That’s the Axford one-two punch.
I didn’t mention it before but, Willie the golem is here, first immobile but then brought back by Misty. Post fight, he says he was somehow brought here by one of the evil factions of the city and says they’ll talk about it later. Also, Misty makes out with him (DON’T KINKSHAME HER).
With a high insight roll, Kingston is able to deduce that the group was ambushed (though not by Priya) and that their victory was a really important one for the fate of the city.
(Sidenote: The amount that Pete is Over Priya in this ep is so funny.)
Back at Wally’s (which is where Kug is now staying) Wally has gotten Kug a dog bed to sleep in and fancy charcuterie cheese because he and Ricky are the only pure-hearted people in NYC.
At the same time, Pete and Kingston have a very sweet heart to heart and then settle down at Kingston’s place to chill and listen to jazz. Idk how else we expected this to resolve, considering this is a Brennan Lee Mulligan DM’d show where the sacred pillars are Teamwork, Friendship, Communication, and Making up an NPC on the Fly Because One of Your PC’s Decided to do an Insane Thing.
Next up is the Christmas ep and Brennan, Emily, and Zac are in sweaters for the occasion.
Well, actually it’s the 21st and Emily immediately clocks that that’s the solstice.
Are cookies the good carb?/Absolutely not. But have fun with your life. (I love Ricky’s soft jock energy.)
“I run deliveries,” Pete says to Kingston’s parents, not technically lying but also not being completely truthful. Misty would be proud.
Going over to Misty, it seems pretty clear at this point (and it’s confirmed in the promo for next ep) that Misty’s fairy business is some kind of de-aging/reincarnation for herself. I wonder how many of these she’s done so far. She said she’s been around for, what? 200, 300 years? Assuming she’s been doing then reincarnations at about 65-70 years old and she reincarnates to around 25? Maybe 6 times? Idk. Just spitballing.
Saucer of milk to keep the faeries from stealing her (non-existing) children. Faerie lore is wild y'all.
Did you take another level of warlock?/Yeah bitch.
The fact that since Sophie has joined a monastery, she’s only taken Warlock levels and no Monk levels is very funny from a story perspective. It’s like, she finally comes to this sacred place to be trained to her full potential and she’s just spending what should be her sparring time playing with her cat in exchange for spells. Wild.
Emily’s cat-like, self-satisfied grin when Brennan is like, “So you just jerry-rigged yourself clairvoyance powers, huh?” is so good.
And she did it on the fly because Emily Axford is winning D&D. There are no points but she’s winning.
So, uh, Emily does, two things, very in character right after the other:
Thing number one: She send her unseen servant to spy on her family. Her dad seems hardline, “F, Dale. Whatever. Family first. She needs to get over it.” On the other side of the spectrum is her mom who is very upset about the whole affair with her siblings falling in the middle.
The second thing she does, very casually I might add, is have her unseen servant BURN DOWN HER HOUSE SO SHE CAN COMMIT INSURANCE FRAUD.
EMILY
Everyone loses their minds and rightfully so. What a wild-ass swing that no one could have seen coming. I love it.
“I look in my backpack which is now my home[…]"
I almost forgot that Ricky was a fire fighter who would not abide that nonsense until Brennan decided to cut to him.
Ricky just dolphin swims across the Hudson in 2.5 mins to go put out the fire that Sophie set. Amazing.
Ally mocking Emily/Sophie: Truthfully, I don’t know what happened.
"I love John McClane, because he loves his wife.” WALLY
Wally: Oh we’re gonna tell a lie on Christmas.
“This is what winning looks like.”
I would really like to know what trace stuff what on the drugs Pete got from 7 but Ally rolled too low to figure it out.
“I disassociate fully."
Well it took him a long ass time but glad to have Pete on the selling drugs to kids is bad train. Choo-choo, dude.
7 saying you can hack in real life in reference to his AK-47 has the same energy as Hardison using the word hack in literally any semi-weird episode of Leverage.
SOCIAL MEDIA IS VOLUNTARY PANOPTICON
So Kug goes with Wally to David’s house disguised as a dog and, despite that, blurts out that he’s his dad immediately. Well, he tries to. The Umbral Arcana stops him, unfortunately.
"I lick my son’s face.” KUUUUG.
Sophie showing up with a raw goose and hellish rebuking it is so metal and it’s a shame no one got to appreciate it.
Me when Sophie’s Mom changes into black top in solidarity for Sophie’s mourning: F EVERY OTHER NON-SOPHIE BICICLETA. I RESPECT YOU.
Kingston is hustling very hard to get his man Pete a job which is a very Kingston move. That’s how guys like that show affection.
Didn’t mention it before but Kingston’s parents and Mom specifically adopting Pete is very cute.
Sidenote: Idk what 7 was talking about Pete trying to stay low profile. He wears a cowboy hat (now a ZEBRA STRIPED one, courtesy of Kingston). I think the subtlety train has sailed my guy.
Esther shows up at the firehouse, carrying presents for her mom and grandma and looking for Ricky. The says that she’s kinda dealing with something and it feels good to be around him (beat) magically speaking. Sure. I’m gonna keep my Hercules soundtrack on hand just in case anyway.
I think Ricky is the only person who, with no pretense, could give his crush a sexy calendar featuring him.
Anyway, turns out Esther’s mom and grandma are the furies of Tompkins Square and she’s fated to join them or something.
Esther causally: I defy you, I defy the prophecy.
The fury thing would explain why Esther’s mom would have cursed Kug. They are famously magical punishers.
Ricky is a magically certified Good Boy but we been knew.
Zac’s restraint to respect Esther’s personal boundaries in lieu of getting a lore drop to stay true to Ricky’s character is amazing. Mad props.
So we slide over to Misty’s Christmas party which Stephen Sondhein is attending and him having a character card kinda killed me.
There’s a post on tumblr somewhere about playing faerie  incapability for impoliteness against a vampires need to be invited in and that’s what I thought about when Moses and his vamp friends showed up at Misty’s house.
Robert tries to talk Misty into striking a deal with him for protection from Titania. She’s very much not having it.
“You know Robert, I love a comedy and I love a farce. I’d like to remind you of who it is that started this and it’s not me and it’s not my friends but I can assure you Robert Moses that we will be the ones to end it if you do not. Do you understand me?” Damn. That’s a mic drop from Misty.
[As I’m editing this, I’m realizing I somehow lost a BIG chunk of text. I’m not gonna write it all up again but the Cliffnotes are as follows:
Between the Solstice and Christmas, the gang goes Grand Central Station to see the clockwork gnomes that live there because trouble is apparently afoot. Some size changing nonsense happens and Pete shoots a dog (with mini bullets, the dog is fine). Lou is enchanted even though Kingston is not (a common theme with him). Ally and Emily are on the same nonsense wavelength (as usual).
There are dope magical dragon trains under Grand Central Station that go to the shadow realm which is a place I’d like to know about. Kingston has never seen these trains before even though you’d really think he would have.
Murph says Gnome Rights which is wild if you know what Naddpod is like.
Anyway, the high priestess of the gnomes passed out the other day and they figure out it was due to pixie magic which is suspicious. They also know they pixies have access to a “time stone” which leads me to believe that it’s Brennan and not Aguefort who thinks that Chronomancy is the most powerful magic of all.
Sophie and Jackson go to Dale’s grave on Christmas. Jackson explains that the Order of the Concrete Fist is basically a literal school of hard knocks. A counterbalance to all the reach for the stars dreaminess that comes with NYC.
Dale was their chosen one who was supposed to stop the monastery from falling when some unspecified badness crossed over to this side, but when he went to the place where he was supposed to get guidance, there was no one there (clearly tying in to what Dale said to Sophie last time they talked. I wonder what she needs to get to the top of? Empire State maybe?).
Watching Murph watching Emily, his real life spouse, play at grief for her fictional husband and do some truly insane things is so funny because you can clearly see him thinking, “I am married to this woman,” which, in fairness, is probably the main thing he’s thinking when he’s playing D&D with Emily.
I’m probably missing something but that’s all I remember. Back to post-Christmas!]
So it’s opening night at Misty’s show and, somehow, Ricky’s first show ever.
I love that Don Confetti is there because of Siobhan’s offhanded comment for a handful of eps ago about him being a supporter of the arts.
Anyway, everything is going great until the second act when Titania busts in through the mirror which is *not* is storage as Misty requested but on stage. It’s a theater fight, y'all! And not the West Side Story kind although if that doesn’t come up I will be very surprised.
“Let’s kill Titania!” –Misty in the promo
Just going straight to 11, huh Misty?
See y'all then!

Commission#4
For @vchanny-og
Prompt: Makoto teaches the girls to cook. To commission me please click here for information! To see what other people are offering up commissions please see here!
The recipe for peanut butter cookies is fool-proof, three-ingredients. Four, if you added chocolate chips. The first time that Makoto had made them, Usagi had eaten two dozen by herself, and when she’d found out how easy they were, she’d begged and whined and pouted until Makoto had agreed to teach her.
“Mamo-chan would love these, don’t you think? Especially if we add chocolate! And peanut butter is healthy and has lots of protein so he wouldn’t even disapprove!”
Eggs. Crunchy peanut butter. Sugar. Chocolate chips. Parchment-lined baking sheet for 11 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius.
Makoto lines up all the ingredients on the counter, helpfully preheats the oven to the correct temperature. She goes out to her balcony to check on her plants, and is halfway through dead-heading some leggy basil when the smell of smoke comes wafting through the open door. Thoroughly alarmed, she drops her clippings and runs in, yanks the oven open to find lumps of what look to be charcoal. Usagi’s wail could pass for a fire engine careening onto the scene complete with lights and sirens.
“I don’t know what happened, Mako-chan! I didn’t do anything except what you asked, and now everything is ruined and there are NO COOKIES and you are probably going to be mad at me!”
With a long, windy sigh, Makoto checks the counter. Peanut butter, check. Sugar, check. Chocolate chips, check-- and if she’s not mistaken, Usagi dumped in about half a cup more than the recipe called for. A bowl of cracked open eggs, yolks almost mockingly bright orange, winked up at her.
Makoto shakes her head, sends Usagi out to the bakery, and cuts up some peppers and tomatoes, retrieves her snipped basil. It seemed like she’d be having omelettes for dinner.
**
“So we sear the steak at a high temperature in a cast-iron skillet to take advantage of the Maillard reaction for the sake of optimal flavour.” Ami scribbles some type of complex chemical molecule diagram on the margins of the recipe that she’d meticulously copied from Makoto’s cookbook, and does a few equations, and murmurs to herself. “I suppose that makes sense. The temperature of the cooking surface will exceed 140 degrees Celsius, which will cause the reactive carbonyl group of the sugar present in the molecule interact with the nucleophilic amino group of the amino acid.”
“Yeah. Something like that. And then you finish in a low and slow oven so you don’t overcook the meat. This is an expensive cut of steak-- you don’t want it to be cooked to death.”
Makoto did not care over-much about the complex chemical reactions and science behind the process-- it was enough, really, to know that as long as one controlled the temperature and time, and seasoned the pricey cut of beef simply but well (sea salt, coarse-ground pepper and a few sprigs of rosemary), one could have a fancy date night meal in the comfort of one’s own home. “Medium rare is the optimal doneness for steak, in my opinion. Use a food thermometer, cook it to 54 degrees Celsius, then rest for three minutes before slicing, and you’re good to go.”
“I understand the reasoning behind safe internal cooking temperatures,” Ami muses as she follows Makoto’s lead, carefully wiping down the cherry-red surface of her steak with a paper towel to dry it, then sprinkling on salt and pepper on both sides. “Obviously, you don’t want harmful disease-causing microorganisms to grow within your food product, and it either needs to be too hot or too cold for the bacteria and viruses and fungi to survive. But why are there exceptions to the rule? Your recipe says that a rare steak reaches the internal temperature of 51 degrees, a medium rare of 54, a medium of 58 and so on. Doesn’t that put the person who prefers to eat their steak rare at greater risk? How does a restaurant get around that liability? It’s not as though it can do a medical check of the customer to ensure that they have no history of immunological disorders or gastrointestinal problems. And what about nations which choose to ignore these limits altogether? We serve sushi and sashimi here in Japan, which is certainly not cooked to 62 or highter. The French have their Carpaccio and tartare. The Lebanese have their kibbee nayee, and so on.”
Makoto watches as Ami grinds exactly three shakes of pepper onto each side of her steak, then rolls her eyes. “How does your guy like his steak cooked? That’s all I need to know.”
Ami blushes almost as red as the meat she’s fiddling with. “Umm. Medium rare is fine. And he’s hardly ‘my’ guy. More of Mamoru’s, wouldn’t you say?”
“You’ve already split hairs over the science of cooking. I don’t think I have enough energy to argue over the exact nature of your relationship with the mouthy blond menace. Do you think you can put together a nice green salad to go with these steaks? That way we can get done quicker, and I can make myself scarce before he comes here.”
**
Makoto knows better than to attempt to teach Rei anything too outlandish in the kitchen. Rei is a traditionalist in every sense of the word, and probably would not be caught dead in some hipster gastro-pub serving deconstructed salad of micro-greens topped with lobster foam something-or-another no matter how many Michelin stars and James Beard awards the place might have won. Rei is also reasonably competent with her hands and not particularly accident-prone, so something like steamed gyoza seems right up her alley. Sure, making the filling and dough from scratch is an extra effort, but her friend had never been the type to settle for mediocre and ordinary.
Her first warning that things might not turn out quite so well is when Rei takes a full step back when she sets the food processor on the counter. “What is that?”
Her tone could only have been snottier had the food processor been possibly coated in dung and mildew and maybe plastered with boy band stickers. “It’s a food processor. So we can easily chop up the chives, grind up the pork.”
“I have a perfectly serviceable set of knives here.” Rei turns up her aristocratic little nose and points to the knife-block, which, to be fair, holds a set of heirloom-quality blades. Trust the senshi of war to know her sharp objects, Makoto thinks drolly, but she acquiesces. “All right. You can mince the chives with that, I guess. But I’m using the food processor to grind the meat.”
They both get to work, and Rei glares at the machine as soon as it starts up as though the noise offended her on a personal level. She’s not bad-- indeed, her cuts are decent even by chef standards, but by the time Makoto has finished up her meat and mixed in soy sauce and ginger and garlic and a pinch of allspice and an egg, she’s only about a quarter of the way done with her chives. Slowly and stubbornly, she soldiers on as Makoto measures out flour and water and a pinch of salt.
“What in the world is that?”
Now, the question is directed towards the stand mixer plugged into the wall outlet. Makoto doesn’t even dignify that with a response, and dumps in flour, salt and water, lets fly. Sure, she can knead the dough by hand if she wanted to. And stretch it, cut it, roll it out for the dumpling wrappers. And maybe, if he’s very, very lucky, Jun would have gyoza sometime within the next two years. She’s just about ready to start rolling the dough when Rei finally finishes cutting the chives by hand, and dumps them into the bowl of the ground meat mixture, scowling at the way the damp green mince clings to her fingertips. Makoto finishes mixing the filling, then shows Rei, quickly, how to pinch the edges of the dumpling shut.
She waits until the knives are washed and put away and the pot is simmering before turning to her friend with a mischievous look, tongue firmly tucked in cheek. “Well. I’m sure Jun will appreciate your painstaking work on this meal, doing things the old-fashioned way by hand. He’ll know just how much you care from the sheer effort you went through.”
If looks could kill, Makoto would be buried six feet under complete with an ugly angel-shaped monument and an elaborate wreath of flowers on her grave. She manages to keep a straight face while she takes the dumplings out the pot, then excuses herself. She’s still laughing when she arrives at her own apartment a good half-hour later.
**
Leave it to Minako, of course, to want to learn the most complicated, exotic dish of them all.
“I think it would be perfect! He doesn’t eat pork or beef, and I love spicy food, and I know you’ll help me and it will turn out wonderfully!”
Makoto eyes the recipe bookmarked on Minako’s phone-- very heavily starred on Pinterest, and apparently the handiwork of some world-renowned celebrity chef. “Indian lamb curry, though? That’s… quite ambitious of you, Minako.” Indeed, the list of ingredients is daunting in and of itself, even for a seasoned home cook, and Minako’s idea of gourmet home cooking generally involved cracking an egg over her boiling ramen noodles.
“Oh don’t you worry. I’ve watched a TON of youtube videos. And cooking reality shows. That Gordon Ramsay is HILARIOUS. And it all goes into the slow cooker, so it hardly requires fancy techniques and knifework and the like. All I have to do is toss everything in there and push a button and spend the rest of my time making myself look gorgeous and sexy, right??”
Makoto eyes the recipe again. She’s pretty sure that Minako has never heard of the term ‘garam masala’ in her life. “Maybe you should at least let me taste it before you serve it. Just in case.”
Six hours later a mostly-decent-looking sample of the dish is placed in front of her. The curry is an appetizing orange-brown colour, and the kitchen smells invitingly of spices. Minako had even taken the time to toss some finely chopped parsley onto the meat for a pop of bright green. Makoto is pleasantly surprised, and gives Minako an approving smile which lasts all of three seconds-- the three seconds it takes to put a piece of the meat in her mouth. She gags, and spits it out. “Oh, GOD! What did you put in this?! It tastes like the Dead Sea… if the Dead Sea were on fire!”
Minako shoots her a wide-eyed look from those baby blues, thoroughly bewildered. “Welllllll… all these videos said to salt with every step of the cooking pricess. So I did. It was probably like close to half a cup of salt total, because I added some after every other ingredient. And then I didn’t have tomato paste so I substituted ketchup. Basically the same thing, you know? And I didn’t have the tablespoon of fresh ginger, so I used a tablespoon of ginger powder, and shelled pistachios look just like cardamom pods for like a tenth of the price, and I used Old Bay seasoning instead of Bay leaves… But the only thing I absolutely couldn’t figure out at all was this ‘garam masala’ stuff! So I left it out.”
Without a word, Makoto dumps the entire contents of the slow cooker into the trash, picks up her phone, and dials the local Indian restaurant, Within short order, two takeout containers are delivered-- an Indian lamb curry, and an accompanying container of cheese naan and rice.
“Just… put it in your own plates,” Makoto tells the other girl, shaking her head between gulps of water. “The kitchen smells like you’ve been cooking all day. It’ll be our little secret and he will never, ever know.”

Cutie Reviews: Tokyo Treat July 19
Hello all, welcome to July’s Tokyo Treat review!
Besides the fact I’m in a different place taking these pics, I don’t have anything else to say so we’ll just get straight into it.
Tumblr media
Also, because I accidentally cut it off, July’s theme is Life’s A Beach.
“With warmer weather on the horizon we were feeling super inspired to bring you a summery box filled with snacks ready for a beach day! This month you’ll be receiving a lot of fun treats and a taste of summer in Japan. We hope this yummy selection of sweet and savory snacks inspires you to go outside and enjoy your treats in the summer weather!“
So in my rush to get these pictures ready, I ended up not getting the Prize or Lucky Treat pictures. So to summarize, Lucky Treat heavily focuses on Kindom Hearts with a dash of Pokemon. While I was lucky enough to win the September one, I can’t deny that this would probably have been the other one I really wanted. Meanwhile, July’s prize features figurines of Sanji and Trafalgar Law (my favorite characters, along with Luffy, Ace, and Perona) in One Piece, and some smaller Pokemon figures for the runner-ups.
As usual I won’t be reviewing the DIY candy kit (see top pic) because we’ve had it several times before and I think I already covered it on the blog anyway.
-------------
Melon Cream Soda
Tumblr media
(Sorry the stand is a mess, this pic was last-second and I was in a hurry, and no the drink in the background is not the same one as on top, it’s cola).
Perfect for summer, we have a refreshing melon cream soda. It’s a really pretty pastel green color, and it’s very foamy on the top which helps emulate the cream soda vibe. It smells like fizzy melon candy (and tastes like one too), and it’s very light and refreshing with a small hint of vanilla in the background.
If you don’t like melon then you probably wouldn’t like this- but if you do then I think you would love it.
Crushed Poteco 4-Pack
Tumblr media
If you read the blog before then you will recognize these; we get them fairly often and I won’t be reviewing these because I’ve done it a handful of times.
They’re cute, tasty little potato rings with a slight saltiness, but as good as they are I’m pretty sick of them <_< I actually gave all of mine away because I really didn’t want them.
Soda Soft Candy & Sherbet Perot Cider
Tumblr media
I love soda candy and I can’t think of anything more lovely for warm summer weather than cooling, refreshing blue sweets~
First we’ll start with the Sherbet Perot Cider, the equivalent of the cola-flavored lollipop with fizzy candy that we got either back in May. It consists of a neutral-lightly sweetened lollipop with powdered candy you can tip it in, giving it a vaguely fizzy and sweeter, almost sour taste. This specific one is 44.5 calories.
Much like the cola one, I think it’s really yummy. I love the taste of the powder with it especially because in my opinion the lollipop on its own isn’t sweet enough- but like the cola one, I find myself completely forgetting about the powder and just sucking on the candy.
------
The other soda candy we got are these cute spherical soft candies. But what makes them special is that they have a hint of lemon for an additional pinch of sweetness~
The entire bag is 63 calories, which seems about right since you get a handful of them. The pamphlet describes these as sweet and sour, but unless you let them sit in your mouth for a few minutes, you taste no sourness- and honestly, they didn’t taste as good as they do if you just chew them up from the beginning.
Mini Chocolate Bat
Tumblr media
Next up is an item I’ve had before, but it’s been a really long time so that’s not too bad. These have been around for a long time now if I recall, but I’m not sure if they’re popular. For the entire box (or one stick, not sure) its 51 calories, and each crunchy stick is coated in a thin layer of chocolate, they remind me a lot of those yellow cake donuts... if they were stale and hard.
These aren’t bad or anything but they aren’t sweet either. I love dark chocolate and I can appreciate not having a sugar buzz as much as the next person, but sometimes you just want sugar too, you know? I feel like this would be good with coffee though, and it was nice of them to give us a box, making them a nice little item to bring to a get-together with a friend or two.
Chocolate Mint Candy & Peach Mint Kit Kats
Tumblr media
To go with all of our refreshing green and blue sweet snacks, we got two more, but these are of the mint variety!
Our first item is inspired by delicious Hokkaido mint chocolate ice cream (my favorite~!) and takes the form of a spherical hard candy. I know the picture makes it extremely hard, but the candy actually has brown dots covering them to emulate the ice cream. The inside is filled with a cooling white powdery substance, but you don’t have to wait until you get to the center, because there is a tiny hole in the candy allowing the flavor to seep out.
Per-candy or bag (I certainly hope bag), the calories are 290.
These are very yummy but I’m not sure they would be enjoyed by those who aren’t big on choco-mint. They mostly taste like chocolate with a hint of mint, and I really like the cooling effect. The hardness of the coating seems to vary between candies though, because I noticed the first one I could bite through the middle no problem, but the second one was a lot more difficult.
-----
Next up is another kit kat like usual. As much as I like these I tend to get tired of them too, but I believe last month we didn’t have one so it isn’t that bad. Anyway, this is a PREMIUM kit kat blend, which means its slightly more special or pricey or something. Each pack is 63 calories, and i love the pretty mix of pink and mint on the packaging~
Before getting these, it never occurred to me to think of a combination like mint x peach. I thought it sounded strange. The outside chocolate oddly resembles cookies and cream while the inside is pure mint, and they are deliciously amazing!
As I said, it sounds unusual, but it’s really good. As soon as you bite into them you get hit by the refreshing peach, followed by a combination of mint until you’re left with a cooling sensation. I recommend these if you can find them!
Anpanman Grape Gummies & Sour Peah Gum
Tumblr media
Our refreshing fruity theme continues with these two fun, colorful candies. I’ve had these both before so I don’t think I have too much to say, I’ll start with the Anpanman. These are fun grape-flavored gummies that come in 24 various poses and characters, and each pack is 62 calories.
I was really confused with these, because of summer and them being gummies I assumed they would be inedible because they were stuck to the plastic/wax paper. But it turns out the paper can dissolved! It’s very weird, but my mom pointed it out while I explained my issues with it, and while having them in my mouth it would just slide right off. I wasted half of the pack until finding this out <3< but I am very glad I did because I wasn’t very impressed when I opened them.
------
Next is a really fun gum roulette candy that came out a couple of years ago :3 Basically, you have 3 gums (I’ve tried a few flavors so far, but Peach is the only one I’ve had twice now) and each one is different: one is sour, one is sweet, and one is normal. There’s no physical way to tell them apart, nor do they have a scent (except for what the flavor is, in this case peach). The only way to find out which is which is to chew them.
I like sour candy, and I also love sweetness, so this is really fun and the gum quality is pretty good, but the flavors only last a few minutes. This was how I felt about each piece:
Sour - It gets worse the more you chew. I love sourness but Japanese sour candy seems to involve salt; my mouth was starting to feel an extremely faint numbing burn. I never really considered myself a wimp when it came to sour candy but this stuff is on another level; but because it died down fairly quickly, it wasn’t unbearable.
Normal - Sweet and a little cooling. It actually didn’t taste too much like peach but the sour might have ruined my taste buds at the moment :P
Sweet - A lot like the Normal piece, but slightly more peach-ish.
Umai Sugar Rusk & Sour Cream and Onion Doritos
Tumblr media
Recognize the guy on the Sugar Rusk package? He’s our adorable Umaibo friend (by the way, am I the only person who thinks he resembles Doraemon a little?), but now he’s featuring a sweet rusk snack. Each pack is 209 calories.
I don’t usually like rusk snacks, but these are tasty. They’re light, crispy, and sweet with a hint of butteryness. The calories for this are high but they’re delicious, would recommend.
-----
Now, where I live Doritos are not uncommon. We have tons of flavors (my favorite being the original, and the sweet and spicy), at one point we even have mix-flavor bags. I really miss those, but I never met a Dorito I didn’t like so I was excited to get to try something new. Each bag is 277 calories.
These are based on sour cream and onion, which is not something new to me. I used to really like it and the dip with the same flavor, but besides these foreign things I get lately I don’t actually eat too many chips- except for when I’m in the mood for some Doritos since it’s actually my favorite American brand.
These taste really good. Pretty different from the sour cream and onion I’m used to though; they have a garlic-onion-ish taste and while I hate onions (mainly the texture of them), that didn’t really bother me. They actually kind of remind me of the cool ranch Doritos.
Tonkatsu Sauce Umaibo & Texas Corn Okonomiyaki
Tumblr media
(This pic is different because my original was corrupted, which I discovered when I went to save it to my computer.)
Our final 2 items of this months box is a delicious Umaibo I’ve had a few times. It’s Tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) sauce flavored and it’s AMAZING. It’s my second favorite Umaibo flavor behind corn potage, I really recommend this one if you ever get a chance to try it out.
The flavor itself I can’t really describe, but it has a hint of spice. I want to say it’s a bit like a smoky barbecue-soy sauce? It’s not salty though.
----
Lastly is a bag of Texas Corn snack in Okonomiyaki flavor. Okonomiyaki is an Asian Dish best known as a savory pancake. It’s a combination of dough and vegetables, sometimes with meat (bacon is pretty popular), noodles, or seafood, then its fried and covered in things like sauce or pickled vegetables.
These smell kind of similar to the Umaibo, but with a tangy addition and it’s very strong- but the flavor itself is extremely light, it gives me a plain dough (and this next part will sound crazy) and apple cinnamon...
Yeah. I don’t know what I’m on these days o_o
♥ Cutie Ranking ♥
Content - 3.5 out of 5. I nearly-loved everything, but I am scoring it down because there was a handful of repetition and two items I refuse to forgive for seeing again for the millionth time. Call me petty but when I look at the content featured in Japan Crate’s box, I feel like its kind of a rip-off because they always have a bunch of unique new types of items in the boxes.
Quality - 4.5 out of 5. Everything was fine, items were good and tasty and nothing was damaged (including my umaibo, which lately has been suffering), while everything but one item held up being open a bit late, a couple of them went stale fairly quick after opening. BUT they still tasted decent so I didn’t entirely mind. I’m only mentioning this because I’m not a person who inhales everything at one or shares them with others. My snacks tend to last a while.
Theme - 2 out of 5. I thought they kind of failed this time around. The theme was perfect for summer, but when I think of the beach I think of flavors like pineapple, mango, coconut (I hate coconut so I am thankful none of that was included), other fruits, and maybe grilled flavors. The mint, soda, and melon flavors were great for the theme to provide a refreshing and light taste, but I wish they had played that up some more.
Total Rank: 6 or 7 out of 10. Lately the boxes are improving I think, I keep liking them more and more and I really loved this one (with the exception of the poteco rings and the DIY, they’re good but I’m just tired of seeing them!). The flavors are all very yummy, but the items correspondence with the theme needs some work. Let’s see if they do better next month with our last of the 3 summer boxes this year :3
♥ Cutie’s Scale of Yummy ♥
1. Tonkatsu Umaibo - It’s a unique flavor but it’s so good! I can only imagine what the real sauce tastes like~
2. Soda Soft Candy - Soft candy is much better than hard in my opinion, I love candy like this. They tasted so good x3
3. Sour Cream and Onion Doritos - I love Doritos and these were no exception- I do wish the flavor didn’t linger in the mouth so long, but it’s not horrible.
4. Sugar Rusk - These are like the sugar rusk Umaibo, and they’re very tasty.
5. Peach Mint Kit Kat - I love the pink and mint pastel color scheme and for such a unique sweet combination, I thought they were perfect together.
6. Sour Peach Gum - Delicious, but the flavor dies down very quickly. I like the texture of the gum.
7. Sherbet Perot Cider - Very yummy, but I wish the lollipop was a little sweeter.
8. Chocolate Mint Candy - I’m not big on hard candies like I used to be, but these are unique and I love the cooling effect.
9. Anpanman Grape Gummies - I love grape and I thought they were too cute not to eat~
10. Melon Cream Soda - It was really good but when I have melon things I feel like I have a point where I lose interest. I’m glad I split this with someone else because I’m not sure I would have drank the entire thing on my own.
11. Texas Corn Okonomiyaki - I like the texture but the weird apple cinnamon cereal vibes I was getting weirded me out.
12. Chocolate Bat - I hated these initially but the ore I ate the more bearable I found them.
13. Poteco - I’m extremely over these... thankfully I know people who like them or aren’t as picky.

eri + erasermic (and others lol) hcs
So finding out that Aizawa is Eri’s caregiver (aka dad) gave me so many ideas and hcs!! I didn’t want to keep posting & tweeting like 9 each day and annoy everyone so I made a long list. (If I think of more I’ll make another post!)
I haven’t caught up to the manga (I think I’m at like chapter 150ish something?) so feel free to correct me on any canon errors!
(I’m sorry it’s long and I’m sorry for all the exclamation points lol)
Aizawa & Yamada don’t spoil Eri per se but, they want her to enjoy being a kid and be happy so they kinda do lol They take her to Disneyland and y’all know all three of them have mouse ears!!
Eri loves being in the middle, holding both of her dads’ hands, and asking them to lift her up so she can swing!!
Thank you to my dear friend, Spicy, she told me that in the light novel that Yamada lives in the dorms too so my line of thinking is that Eri has a room at the dorm too, next to her dads’ (Spicy & i agreed that Mr. Principal gave Yamada & Aizawa a larger room bc they’re married, causing Midnight to get jealous and she asks Kan to marry her so that she can get a big room too sldfj; anyways). Her room is also around the other teacher’s for protection.
I’ve already mentioned this in other posts (here & here) and on twitter that Eri gets bad nightmares. At first she doesn’t go to Aizawa and Yamada, thinking that they don’t care, but Aizawa hears her and goes to her and comforts her. After that she starts going into their room and starts sleeping in the middle of them in their bed.
I ALSO MADE THIS IN ANOTHER POST BUT ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE HC IS THAT AIZAWA’S WHOLE BODY IS COVERED IN SCARS AND HE SHOWS THEM TO ERI WHEN SHE FEELS BAD ABOUT HER’S AND SHE SMILES, “You’re like me!” (yes I wanted to repeat this because I just love this so much!!! fight me)
When people tell Yamada & Aizawa “how polite and quiet Eri is” they know it’s because of her past trauma, that she conditions herself to stay quiet and “be polite” (not to say this is like that for all children, but it is for Eri) so they encourage her to make (safe!) mistakes, like accidentally spilling milk, or encourage her to speak her opinions more; let her live & be a kid more. They ask the class to help out (which ofc they do)
Which brings me to: Eri picking up bad words from Baku lmao Eri straights up tells her teacher, who gave her a bad marking on her spelling test or something, “You’re a dipshit” flsdjf;al Needless to say Aizawa & Yamada weren’t happy. (When Baku hears about it he can’t help but smirk)
Yamada cooking, with a pot of boiling water on the stove, and Eri reaches up for it, thinking she’s helping, but when Yamada notices that the pot is about to fall on her, he grabs her arm and moves out of the way just in time when the boiling water splatters on the floor. Yamada is about to tell Eri something when he notices she’s scared, not from the water, but from Yamada, expecting a punishment. Yamada is clearly heartbroken over that and hugs her, telling her that he grabbed her, not because he’s angry at her, but because he was scared she would get hurt. (In my mind this was a lot more emotional & heartfelt but I suck at writing so lmao)
Momo making Eri little toys & gifts!!!! And each time Momo gives her one, Eri gives Momo a big hug!!!!!!!!!
Sato and Eri baking!!!!!!!!!!!! Her favorite thing to bake are cookies and she gives a cookie to everyone at the dorms.
Eri likes to (try to) stay up on Friday nights to listen to her dad’s radio show. She either listens with Aizawa or she listens to it with Jirou in her dorm room!!!
When Eri is a teen she was so impressed by the class’ concert that she wants to play the drums so Aizawa & Yamada buys her a drum set. (This years in the future when the three of them get their own house) Aizawa & Yamada are chillin’ on the couch when Aizawa hears a lot of banging and he glares over to Yamada but Yamada has his hearing aids out so he doesn’t hear anything lkdfj;a Aizawa is just ‘god grant me death’
During arts & crafts, Eri’s teacher tells her to draw her family so Eri draws all 19 students of class 1-A, her two dads, Kan, Midnight, and the other teachers with a large heart. Eri shows it to everyone and everyone is teary eyed!!!!! She tells everyone that the 19 students are her brothers & sisters and god class 1-a is straight up sobbing lol
TSUYU BRINGING HER SIBLINGS OVER AND THEY PLAY WITH ERI
Uraraka makes Eri float so Eri can “fly” and Eri is floating around, flapping her arms, with a huge ass smile!!!!
KAN (AKA BLOOD KING AKA MY HUSBAND) IS THE BEST BABYSITTER. Like when Eri first meets him she’s really scared by him, but he introduces his dog to her and Eri isn’t scared anymore!!!
THANKS TO @mammonlovesmoney FOR THIS IDEA ON TWITTER: KAN’S DOG IS AS BIG AS ERI!!!!! She giggles when his dog licks her cheeks, Kan giving Eri dog treats so that she can make the dog do tricks, and she’s easily amused!!!!!!! (She considers Kan as an uncle later in the years ;A; )
Sleepy Eri in Aizawa’s arms, her head on his shoulder, as idk Aizawa and Yamada are saying goodbye. Yamada & Aizawa share a kiss and then Yamada kisses Eri’s forehead :’) I just love picturing that
THE CLASS THROWS A SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR ERI. Yamada walks in with Eri in his arms, Aizawa behind him, and Yamada watches Eri’s surprised look change to glee!!!!! There’s pretty streamers all around, a fresh baked chocolate cake (thanks to Sato ofc!!!!), and party games and Eri is so excited and happy!!!!
When Eri is a teen she calls out for her dad, which prompts Aizawa to tell her, “I’m in the living room.” “No, I meant my other dad,” Eri says as she walks into the living room and Aizawa is clearly offended fldsjf He tells her her “other dad” is out and if she needs help. She tells him she needs math homework help and Aizawa is just “I can help you with that!” Eri raises an eyebrow, “You can?” And Aizawa is offended again because he’s just as smart as Yamada!!!! lmao but when Eri shows Aizawa her homework Aizawa stares blankly at it, sweating, then gives it back to her. “Call your dad. He’ll help you.”
The class + Eri watch Aliens (bc of Mina lol) and Eri is so terrified of aliens now. Mina comforts her and tells her, “I’m Ridley Hero Alien Queen!!! I’ll always protect you and keep you safe!” and does a pose. Everyone think she’s lame but Eri hugs her and asks if she can sit by Mina until she has to go to bed!!!
Aizawa and Yamada reading Eri bedtime stories :’) Yamada uses different voices and Eri sleeply giggles (and so does Aizawa!!!)
Yamada & Aizawa crying when the adoption papers are finally finalized and they’re now officially Eri’s parents!!!
God and like Aizawa never thought this would be his life. But a year or two after their marriage, Aizawa + Yamada talk about kids but they agreed that right now wasn’t the best. But now??? Here is with a loving husband and a loving daughter!!!
Mentioned this on twitter too but Eri begging her dads for a dog after playing with Kan’s so much! lol
Eri meeting Tensei and pushing him (after Aizawa & Yamada teach her that she should always ask before pushing anyone in a wheelchair!!). She sits in his lap and rides with him down a ramp!! And she has her arms up, they’re both laughing, and when they make it to the bottom, she runs to her dads, jumping up and down, “Did you see us? Did you see us? Did you see us? We were so fast!!!!”
Years later when Eri applies to UA, Aizawa & Yamada are obviously not there to observe her, but Aizawa meets up with Midnight (who did) and just asks, “So?” Midnight shakes her head, “Now you know I can’t tell you anything, Shou-chan!” Aizawa grimaces at the nickname, but Midnight pats his shoulder with a smile. “But, she’s definitely your daughter” And Aizawa smirks at that.
MOMO MAKING RUSSIAN NESTING DOLLS OF AIZAWA, YAMADA, AND ERI. Aizawa & Yamada are on one and inside is Eri. She gives them to Aizawa, and Aizawa has to turn his head to hide his face because he’s crying over how cute this is and how sweet Momo is for making them!!!!
