What Mutual Aid can look like
Tumblr media
If you grow up in modern society, there is a good chance you will only ever associate anarchism with violence and rebellion. This ignores though the core principle of anarchism. Like one of the things, that anarchism is build around: Mutual Aid.
And guess what: That kinda is something that human society for the longest time has been build around. (See also what I wrote a few weeks ago about gift societies before money was a thing.)
Mutual Aid is just, what it sounds like: Helping each other in ways we can help. Which can mean a lot of different things, because different people have different abilities to help.
You know, one of the things I liked about the early pandemic with the lockdown and what not was, that people rediscovered Mutual Aid, because a lot of people did not only need it, but also had the time to do it.
And what we really need to learn is, that Mutual Aid does not mean that everyone does exactly the same for each other (in terms of workload). Because some people just have more capacities than other people. And that is okay.
Too often Mutual Aid when discussed in media kinda only focuses on financial aid. And do not get me wrong: Helping someone to cover essencial costs is absolutely 100% a form of Mutual Aid. But... This is still very much caught within the capitalist thinking. And it can be so much more. So... Let me talk what else Mutual Aid can be:
Cooking for each other/for your neighboors. Maybe you have this old guy in the neighboorhood who just cannot properly cook for himself, because he just cannot stand for long enough to do it. Or maybe there is this single mom with two kids who works long hours and just does not have the energy to properly cook afterwards. And you might be cooking either way. So maybe you can cook for them, too?
Something we saw in the pandemic a lot: Going grocery shopping for your friends or neighbours. People were unable to go shopping because they themselves got infected with COVID or were immuno compromised? Folks went shopping for them. Why not keep it up? Covid is not over. Also, that old lady downstairs might have issues carrying her own groceries.
Repairing all sorts of things for other people. Be it their broken computer, their broken bike or car, or be it fixing that hole in their clothing. You have the skills to fix it? Why not fix it for them then, instead of forcing them to either buy new stuff or have it fixed for a ton of money.
Or one thing my roommate will always do for me: Cut my hair. That, too, is mutual aid. I need that hair cut. She will do it for me. That, too, is mutual aid.
Or if you are skilled in sowing, maybe actually sew clothes for people who cannot afford proper ones (aka clothing that is not gonna fall apart after a year)? That, too, is mutual aid.
And there is this friend who needs to go somewhere but does not have a car and the place is not easily reachable with other modes of transportation? Yeah, driving them is another form of Mutual Aid.
I could go on and on about this, babysitting, petsitting, helping someone clean, borrowing tools and so on... I think you get the idea, though. Mutual aid is... surprisingly easy. And most people already give it out on a pretty regular basis.
Because, again: People are actually pretty darn decent. We usually do things for each other because doing things for each other actually feels kinda good.
So... yeah. Maybe think about that. And think about how great society would be if more people were doing this.

Took a lil break from the comic to take care of some serious business with my work, and get back on my bean bullshit /pos
100% the fault of the animated series on youtube by @rodamrix, recently rediscovered it after several years and my god!! It's come so far, and I love it so much!!! And it made me miss the space beans in a way I haven't in a long time ;u; So I remade my Among Us character, using features directly from my preferred in-game outfit!
Say hi to Cyan-tist (Cyan)!
I'll info-dump on my bean below the cut xD It's really long, you've been warned!
Backstory
Cyan worked in the specimen laboratory at MIRA HQ, occasionally taking trips off-planet for fieldwork and sample collecting. Cyan was very attached to her many pets, and would get engrossed in her work studying her specimens.
Unfortunately, she was caught alone in the specimen lab one day, and the impostor- Orange- who snuck into MIRA via transport vessel, sought to gain a new ally. Orange cornered and converted Cyan into an impostor by infecting her with the parasite, and once she turned, Cyan went into a feral hunger rampage, mindlessly killing and eating all of her pets and specimens in the lab. The grief of losing her beloved companions and all her work snapped her back into control of herself, only for Orange to praise her for the carnage. Outraged, Cyan turned on Orange, killing and eating him, too.
Not wanting to die for killing a seemingly innocent crew mate, Cyan outed herself immediately to her crew, handing over Orange's remains as well as their weapons during the meeting. Because Cyan never killed any actual crew mates, her crew decided to let her stay, on the condition that she be observed at all times via her Glitch Console (the Twitch pet lmao). She uses Glitch to stream her continued work in the lab, and keep in near constant contact with the rest of her team - it's also MIRA's way of keeping tabs on her, since she's on thin ice as a known impostor.
Cyan has a vitriolic hatred of other impostors, and can hardly conceive of another 'friendly' impostor like her existing. Whenever a hostile impostor shows up, all of her team have an alarm button on their tablets to call her, and 'deploy' Cyan to 'fix' the problem. This has regained some trust with her closest friends in her crew, though Cyan prefers to stay isolated in her laboratory with her new pets. She would love to find a cure for her condition, but is resigned to existing as she is, and it can't bring back the pets she lost. Cyan is soft on animals, robots, her fellow crew, and children, and has misused science lab equipment to make treats for young visitors. Don't mess with her work or she'll bite you.
Abilities
Cyan-tist is a Shapeshifter variant Impostor. She cannot turn into everybody she sees- however, she can transform into anything living she has ever eaten. The higher percentage of the creature she consumes, the better the disguise. She can shapeshift clothing from her own body matter. The 'cat hat' she once wore has become a physical part of her, the ears functional for hearing and movement, and the eyespots capable of sight, producing tears, and emoting.
Due to her initial feral rampage in the lab, Cyan can transform into a wide variety of crewmate pets and lab specimens- her favorites being the three forms of her former companions: a Doggy, a Headslug, and a Squig. She often uses these to spy on new arrivals undetected, attempting to sus out foreign impostors from the cohort. Cyan can adapt features to her existing body at any level she wants- for example, she can gain the fur coat of the Doggy, the wings of the Pouka or the Goose, or the tentacles of the Squig without needing to fully shapeshift. The Doggy form in particular has a heightened sense of smell, allowing her to detect if the scent of a foreign impostor is present, though it may not be sufficient to identify the specific individual from a crowd.
Cyan-tist's adaptive shapeshifting is powerful enough that she can gain the unique attributes of other impostors she has eaten. This includes her advanced chromatophores for changing color, which she acquired from Orange, the first impostor she killed and consumed. Very few impostors since Orange have had anything noteworthy to add to her repertoire of skills. Cyan swore to never eat a crew mate.
Completely self-indulgent Rodamrix Animated Series thoughts
Okay I couldn't help it, I wondered about what would happen if Cyan were to be present in the series. !!!SPOILER WARNING IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT, DO NOT READ THIS PART!!!
Original series- If she didn't adapt to the sudden climate shift of the impostor takeover, or stood with the crew in any capacity when they began to spread out of control, Cyan-tist is most likely dead. She would not have gotten along with many- if any- of the impostors within MIRA HQ, and actively would have stood against or tried to kill them, making her an enemy. I can't imagine Big Purple let her live if she tried anything. If by some miracle she DID survive, Cyan is most likely operating as a plant within the impostor hideout, smuggling supplies or otherwise tipping off the survivors as to the movements of the horde so crewmates can escape or avoid being discovered.
Alternate series- Cyan-tist is completely unaware of the plot that Crimson and the MIRA HQ heads have for selling off impostors/parasites and dissenters as test subjects. As such, she continues to operate in her specimen lab, on constant watch for new impostors to show up and threaten her crew and friends. The future arrival of Red, Purple, and Pink would set off HUGE alarm bells for her, and she would be on high alert the moment she detects they're impostors. Cyan would HATE Purple as a known killer impostor, be sus of Pink's no-thoughts-head-empty behavior- though she'd discover quickly he could be distracted with snacks- and not trust Red until his own crew vouches for him. Once the Skeld survivors confirm Red is innocent and a fellow 'good' impostor who saved their lives, Cyan would back off, but keep her eye on all of them.

So lately I've been going back and rewatching a bunch of crime procedurals I watched back when they were first airing between 2005 and 2015, and my most recent foray into this is the CBS series Elementary, which I very much enjoyed when it was originally airing, but binging it now, I'm discovering/rediscovering things that I love about the series.
Foremost among them is how the show handles the character of Joan Watson. Having Watson be a woman in this iteration is already an interesting choice, but at no point does she feel like she's there just to be a potential love interest for Sherlock Holmes (or any of the characters, at least not as of early season 2 where I am in my rewatch at the time of this post). She's a fully fleshed-out character first, and her excitement at working with Holmes and then learning how to deduce like he does is very interesting. And she's good at it, if not as seasoned as Holmes, but the writers allow her to contribute to the cases, occasionally picking up on details (usually something medical with her background as a doctor) that lead to a new suspect or lead in the case.
And Sherlock supports her in her efforts. He actively considers her an apprentice of his methods and if he does something to upset her he will, usually, attempt to make amends for it in his own way (the most recent example is an episode where he solves a small robbery case she'd been asked to consult on by herself, one she was actually looking forward to taking a look at in order to test her abilities, and in an effort to make amends, he offers her a trunk containing the files of cases he hasn't been able to solve and encourages her to take a look at them when she wants to get in some extra practice).
I also like how, even though Sherlock knows he's almost always the smartest person in the room, he doesn't rub that fact in the faces of Watson or the detectives he works with most often. He doesn't talk down to them when he's explaining his reasoning and observations, but relays the information in as concise a way as he can, talking to them as equals and not inferiors.
Anyway, just some things I wanted to get off my chest. You may now return to your regularly scheduled scrolling

So, I'm just gonna come out and say it: Despite probably only being planned in S4 - the idea of the Hollow and it's very elusive presence being the mastermind behind the Originals and it's history is actually engenious!
(Keep in mind, I'm talking as if I'm inside the universe - not as a viewer looking in. Also, fair warning, I alternate between "The Hollow" and Inadu since they are the same person.)
Let's start with the fact that thanks to Inadu, we know werewolves are just cursed witches cut off from their magic with interesting loopholes (such as the Unification Ceremony) - everyone from TVD should've called it because it's ALWAYS a witch creating a new supernatural species! The even bigger factors come from: why killing triggers the werewolf curse (Inadu was murdered - by her mother), the history that combined werewolf abilities were once divided and needed a witch-like ceremony to come together, the story of how Inadu's bones were kept/used until she got her body back, and the very idea that - unlike vampires - werewolves are a bloodline curse allowed to reproduce. If I'm not being clear, the story of the Hollow correlates a lot with werewolf lore. My only headcanons are that werewolf venom became a thing as a result of vampires being created - a natural defense with a supernatural twist - and wolfsbane is a weakness because she died in a field of wolfsbane. With the fact that werewolves existed 500 years prior, that's half a millennia of history that's got lost, destroyed, or spread out in time (since you don't watch Legacies: Long story short, a Shunka Warakin - a creature Ioway Native American mythos that hunts werewolves - made an appearance. Liberties aside, that essentially says werewolves had a rival predator/there were so many werewolves that a creature like this came into existence), and that's not forgetting how much that loss was furthered by Klaus & Elijah engineering The Sune & Moon Curse to lift his own - imagine how many werewolves died listening to following that crap. So, thanks to The Hollow, we have an entire lost-to-be-rediscovered lore for werewolves. Who knows, maybe the Fated Mates in typical werewolf novels might have some truth in them as well😁.
Next, New Orleans. The very idea that The Hollow is a corrupted, evil soul capable of dark and impossible feats says so much. For starters, her very presence and influence can turn good people into evil-doing followers. If I had to go back, let's start with Xavier Dumas (Jackson's grandfather and the guy who murdered Elias and Brooke Labonair - my HC names for Hayley's parents if you don't mind). It was bad enough he was already upset with Elias for trying to make peace with Marcel, once the Hollow sunk her hooks into him, she used him to get access to one of her remaining remains and when he was of no use, he was left to accept his crimes as a disgraced wolf. Next, we see Vincent and his then not-evil-wife Eva dealing with Marcel's hold on the witches. When Vincent started practicing its magic with Eva - who took it a step further, Inadu started to influence them and their bodies. But for whatever reason, Vincent stopped practicing but Eva was already in her grasp. Now fast forward. I'm sorry, but did no one ask why a twenty-something witch was able to overcome an Original's possession over her body? Not even Alaric and Tyler were able to do it when Klaus possessed them. Like, that's badass as hell, but now that we know about Inadu and her thing for sacrificing witch children, it's very likely now we witnessed the first acolyte of the Hollow's cult through Eva and we just didn't know it - and considering she'd already had killed witches for her, the juice she got for empowering Inadu came into play in the form of gaining her body back from Rebekah. (I also have a theory Finn was corrupted by Inadu's leftover essence on Vincent - explaining his different behavior as Finncent vs in his own body, but nobody's ready for that talk😝). Now, let's move to the last group, the Ancestors. The very fact she was impressed by them and how it connects to the Harvest is interesting if you wanted to say the Harvest was created to give power to the Ancestral Well and keep The Hollow imprisoned. The killing of young witches, the passing on power to super-witch that Davina went through in S1, coming back not quite right but more to the Ancestors' cause? The very fact of all that the Ancestors knew about Inadu's origin story says they knew what she was and was capable of since the beginning and when the connection was destroyed in S3, in all good intentions, Vincent let a very bad cat out of the bag for Davina.
Lastly were Inadu's abilities. Compared to many others in the TVD Universe, not only was she a master at possession, she was able to practice magic in a vampire's body - which no one has done before, bring somebody back to life after having their heart ripped out, alter her blood to be toxic to a vampire, telepathic moral corruption, create corporal illusions capable of physical attacks, crushing hearts from the inside... honestly, The Hollow was a full package of feats that shouldn't go underutilized. I even say she didn't even need to feel scared when she had her original physical body back because she already had a plan and Hope - being her blood and easily located, helped by the fact she fears her - only says she knew things would work out. My only regret is that if done right, Inadu would have followed Hope into Legacies because she'd be the Boogeyman only she can face.
Most people hate Inadu for writing reasons and some hate her for being the reason the Mikaelsons were divided. But in the case of the latter, isnt that what made her a successful villain? A villain's job is to stop the heroes or antiheroes (the Mikaelsons) from getting what they want. The Hollow was a villain so powerful, so menacing, manipulating from the background while the living were clueless in their own troubles that inadvertently added in bringing her to power so she could be an active threat. TO was all about being a family and sticking together and she gave them no choice but to separate if they didn't want Hope possessed again. So technically, in life and in death, the Hollow is a successful villain as she kept the Mikaelsons apart and got to Hope in the end. Essentially an inevitable that did what no one else could do.
I am obsessed with how thorough this is.
I'll be honest that I don't spend a lot of time thinking about Inadu/The Hollow, simply because Season 4 and 5 are not my favorite seasons. But, not because I didn't like her story or the lore, simply because the writing starts to go off the rails and becomes very rushed.
But I agree, Inadu was one of the best villains in TO. And it's completely because, as you pointed out, she did what every other villain was attempting to do. She felt not remorse for it either. Don't get me wrong, I love most of the villains in TO, but the show, for the most part, would always back pedal at the end and make them "redeemable" villains. Which is why I liked Lucien, even in his last breath he did not try to be a better person. He was a villain through and through. Inadu took it even further because they don't offer any justification for her behavior. Yes, her family killed her, but because she was power hungry and murderous. She was essentially the Kai Parker of TO. And you're exactly right, people only don't like her because she was successful. They only like the villains when the villains are bad at it. Inadu had the entire city, including the Mikaelsons, running scared.
I loved that we finally got lore into the werewolves, they were such an underutilized species throughout TVDU. I'll have to actually watch Legacies if it goes into it more. I love your headcannons of how the werewolves evolved and played out. I would also add that Inadu likely added the "werewolf rage" to make them just like her. She was punished for her murderous mentality, so she wanted her family to feel how she felt, to behave as she had.
I only wish that we could have had a full season with Inadu. There was still so much to explore and a lot unanswered. She was incredibly powerful and I love that they never really defeat her. I agree, she should have gone on to Legacies. I hated at the end, Elijah and Klaus die to "kill" Inadu, but they had tried that before. I'm forgetting who it was, but Inadu was possessing someone and they killed that person and Inadu just went back to the ancestry plane and then possessed someone else. You may remember more and maybe I'm forgetting exactly why it worked, but to me, it was too easy.
I would have also loved to see the werewolves more invovled in the Inadu plot line, since it was their ancestor. But we only ever see Hayley. The werewolves completely disappeared after season 3.
I love this breakdown so much and I'm definitely holding onto it for future stories!

That's not something I'd typically post but it was nearly impossible to hold back. Found old rough sketches in one of my sketchbooks and decided to further develop the idea. And.. to make less rough sketches. This thing happens after homestuck ends and players enter their new universe so it's not related to the plot that much or anything.
So, before departing into the future players left some information about their former planet societies. Their biographies became foundations of many religions on earth C, some of which were more popular than other. Throughout hundreds of years pre-earth C history has been rewritten many times, and some of the players completely lost not only their appearances, but even names. So when gods return, they find themselves in a society quite different from what they've left, with some morals and values altered, as people from the new universe never had all that cultural basis extinct societies had and basically had to start everything from scratch. Players still try to communicate with people and make world a better place, using their powers. Some religious people are disdained to see that gods are actually guys in fancy pyjamas, others suppose they're impostors. Politicians make attempts to communicate with players and persuade them to leave, being afraid of what they can do.
One of the less popular cults was a cult formed around the idea of "a true troll ruler with blood of a forgotten caste". When trolls and humans rediscovered ectobiology (in their world ectobiology was restricted and then banned for a long time to push forward natural reproduction and avoid unethical experiments, and I highly doubt they ever used fuchsia blood genetic material), cult followers weren't excited by the idea of waiting another millennium for a heiress to be born and just made her themselves.
Obviously, the heiress isn't really going to rule anything and is only a tool, but many followers don't know/don't realize this and sincerely believe she's destined to become a leader. Also, if it was possible to make a fuchsia blood grub once, why wouldn't it be possible to start over if the first one doesn't comply? There're no reliable sources for the heiress to know her physical abilities and she never learned to swim. Feeling alone both inside and outside her community, anxiously waiting for what the cult has for her, leave the heiress no other option and she runs away to find gods herself, as they are the last ones in the entire world, who've seen a living member of her caste.
–––
She grinded down her horns herself after stealing a horn file so it would be harder to identify her
I also doubt trolls would still wear signs at this point (except players' ones) but here's a sign for her anyway
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here're some sprites too. In her "royal" outfit she's just.. feferi.. but she also wears a swimsuit thingie or whatever condense wore, so the skirt is more of an accessory here. On the last one her cape is long instead of skirt. I doubt though she'd be wearing any of this. After everything that has happened to her she's reluctant to take any leading position for now..

22 for Jin-Lo!!!
and then 3 & 17 for Jocasta :D
22) headcanon for Jin Lo!!
JIN-LO RAYCE MY BELOVED!! So, maybe this is a broader head canon than just Jin Lo, but I picture the Temple as almost a magic entity itself - an absolute maze of secret passages, fake doors, hallways that seem to go nowhere, hidden chambers that are used for something specific and then lost for generations and rediscovered. And the Archives being one of the oldest existing parts of the Temple and such an important place, they're some of the most riddled with secrets.
Jin-Lo spent his Padawan years with Jocasta determined to find as many of its secrets as possible, and every so often, when Jocasta thinks he needs a pick-me-up, she just casually reaches over to scratch the nose of one of the busts and a giant secret door opens in one of the bookcases. Jin-Lo's mouth drops. She just laughs. "Enjoy." She'll probably expect to see him again in another few days.
3) NoTP?
I think you meant generally, but I was already thinking about Jocasta for the second half of this, and got mad. :D
This is a funny answer because obviously I ship Dooku and Jocasta in all kinds of various iterations - as a couple, as a polycule with Sifo-Dyas, as friends with benefits… (hell, I might love writing them best as bitter exes in Thunder Answered Back) but I think I would have really hated whatever they were going to do with the love story between them in AotC. Like ughhh, can you imagine how annoying that plot would be for me personally?? First, the 1.0 reheat of the Romance Leads to the Dark Side plotline (already fraught) and how little that makes sense in Dooku's greater story. Also, what it reduces Jocasta to.
Even now, some within the fandom have pinned the Deserving Fall of the Jedi Order on her for being checks notes ah yes, lightly snarky to Obi-Wan that one time, so I can't imagine the hate she would have got for being a female character who has the audacity to exist onscreen taking up plot while being older who bore some "responsibility" for Dooku's fall. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see expanded screentime in AotC for either of those characters, but I shudder to think of the takes.
17) What's a book, movie, or show you think Jocasta would like?
Actually, like Dooku, I think Jocasta reads EVERYTHING. I think her ability to consume books is legendary and she has an opinion on everything from Space BookTok to Palpatine's ghostwritten and highly fictional memoir Sheev: an Understated Courage to poetry and lit crit. She manages to stay on top of this impressive heap of reading despite her Archive responsibilities because she does not sleep.
And yes, ahem, Bride is on her holds list. She makes direct eye contact with the Archive acolyte who hands her the holobook and thanks them politely. She's going to read it in her office over lunchbreak with her salad. Why not?

Backgrounds With Class: Golgari Agent
I'll be honest: Ravnica has always fascinated me. I was a high schooler when the first set came out, and I was immediately consumed creating characters for the setting. Now that we've actually received my long-awaited crossover, I thought it would be nice to write a love letter to the setting in the form of another Backgrounds with Class series. After all: some guilds have natural class choices tied in, from a conceptual standpoint. Boros and Fighter, Izzet and Wizard, Selesnya and Druid. But guilds aren’t class-restricted, and so I wonder what it would look like if you paired every class with every guild background, even the ones that seem at odds, like Izzet and Barbarian, or Gruul and Artificer.  So I thought about it, and this is what I came up with.  Some character concepts for each class, and each Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica background for each class.
Golgari Agent
The Golgari Agent Artificer is one of the kraul, a wingless merchant who recently took over the family business.  Poling a narrow raft through the undercity’s sewer network isn’t glamorous work, but it does afford her a fine selection of various fungi and other ingredients for her elixirs and salves.  If push comes to shove, her alchemical expertise is for more than just brewing potions; many an undercity predator has tasted her home-made deathspore bombs and opted for easier prey elsewhere.
The Golgari Agent Barbarian has been a member of his neighborhood’s hunting party since he became of age.  Eschewing moodmark paint in favor of a hunter’s mottled camouflage pigments, he knows how to track and run down prey with the pack coordination of a wolf.  This talent’s not hyperbole, either; his last encounter with one of the Selesnya’s ledev guardians supplied him with a fine wolf-pelt cowl he wears proudly over his hunter’s paint.  Sometimes he even thinks the spirit of the wolf takes over on the hunt; it would account for the times he’s come to after a kill with blood on his face.
The Golgari Agent Bard knows better than most how things of import can turn up anywhere.  A findbroker by trade, her ability to discover the history behind any gewgaw or trinket she scrounges up has more than doubled her profit on occasion.  Gifted with a turn of phrase and the eerie, low-pitch ocarina she cares for like a child, her ambitions don’t stop at finding lost art- she yearns to be the first to rediscover some buried vault or basement thought long lost.
The Golgari Agent Cleric, in accordance with the Swarm’s care for the cycle of life and death, has been responsible for dozens of acts of euthanasia in her life.  It doesn’t take an expert to recognize when a hunter’s been taken by zombie fungus, or when a red reaver bloom’s explosive dispersal drives a whole apartment block mad with aggression.  It just takes care and respect for the final solace of death to ease people’s suffering.  That her focus also comes in handy fending off territorial disputes is icing.
The Golgari Agent Druid is, technically, a drudge, one of the zombified dead that the Swarm relies on for muscle, both on the farm and the battlefield.  However, unknown processes allowed the fungal parasite to seize full control of the host, and arrive at a consciousness of their own.  Now, they’re busy determining the meaning of their new existence.  While they work it out, they shamble about the Undercity, working odd jobs tending livestock and helping farmers with their natural understanding of other fungi.
The Golgari Agent Fighter is militant, a troll-blooded human with the strength of arm and heart to testify to his lineage.  While for the moment just one of the many toughs that lurk around the Undercity looking for easy prey, his true goal is far less provincial: to climb the Swarm’s political ladder and become one of Jarad’s closest advisors or even his bodyguard.  To this end, he’s quick to speak out in aggression against surface- dwellers intruding on his domain, or take the initiative and lead a raiding party himself.
The Golgari Agent Monk was always gifted with swiftness of arm and wit; as a nymph he scrapped with his siblings more days than not, and has since taken to far more dangerous partners to improve her skills.  He mostly works as a guide for the rare surface-dweller to travel below the sunlit streets, and even distills his own moonshine from fermenting fruit and the ample yeast colonies on his travels.  He’s become quite the alcoholic aficionado, and claims he fights even better when he’s had a few drinks.
The Golgari Agent Paladin was, like many of his Ordruun kin, originally slated to join the Boros Legion as a cadet when he came of age.  He did, but when a raid went bad and he was left for dead in the Undercity by a sergeant he knew to be corrupt, he swore he wouldn’t leave the darkened streets and buried closes of Ravnica until the man lay dead before him.  A childhood roaming the near-surface reaches and a minotaur’s innate sense of direction have served him well, and his new guild feeds the cold core of his desire for vengeance happily so long as it’s pointed at their mutual enemies.
The Golgari Agent Ranger always liked bugs.  Wasn’t much of a choice, really, living in one of the many tenement buildings sunk below the sunlit streets of upper Ravnica- you learned to deal with the scurrying things of the world young.  Cultivating a unique magical bond with them was the work of many long nights, but the result has been beyond reproach- his many tiny friends are stronger than they look, and complement his hunting well as they ensure that his prey can never truly escape.
The Golgari Agent Rogue has aspired to become one of the Ochran ever since one killed his abusive parents in front of him.  Starry-eyed about becoming one of the Swarm’s most famous killers, he moved to the Undercity the next week, escaping the home of his blood family to find new kin.  He had a rough time of it, begging and sweeping out chimneys, but he picked up the poisons quickly, and has always been slight enough to slip down sewer pipes and chimneys to find the target.
The Golgari Agent Sorcerer was a washout before he was anything of real use- literally.  Originally an experimental attempt at forming a drake-human krasis for the Guardian Project, he was mistaken by a careless lab assistant for a failure and flushed out of his transformation tank before his scales, wing flaps, and poison glands fully developed.  Recovered by a rot farmer accustomed to handling the runoff from the Simic lab in question, he’s grown to appreciate his new environment- and has already misdirected or slain the first attempts of the lab’s owner to track him down for retrieval.
The Golgari Agent Warlock always made a point of delving deeper and into tighter environs than his contemporaries.  Never a good fit with hunter or shaman, he explored the depths of the Undercity all on his own before stumbling one day into an as-yet undiscovered chamber.  The figure sitting on the throne there was enormous in size and patched together from all different creatures, but when it stirred to see the boy before it, all it did was offer him a set of knucklebones on string.  Taking them was the beginning of something, and now the man treasures the talisman that forms the link to his patron.
The Golgari Agent Wizard has been a rot farmer for decades.  It’s only now, lately, that he’s set out to travel and study magic in the hopes of winning his farm back.  It was taken from him by a devkarin lich, an objective lesson in might making right within the Swarm, and he hopes to master enough of the necromancer’s art to bend the new owner’s undead farmhands to his will.  He’s quickly finding that things are very big outside his secluded cavern home, and even that he likes it- perhaps enough to keep him from going back.

I think people really overlook the plot of The Sims
Like, yeah, sure, there's the stuff everyone talks about, like the disappearance of Bella Goth, the stuff that's lesser known like Test Subject potentially being some sort of demigod, or the fact that the fourth game takes place in an alternate timeline. That stuff's all cool and great and overlooked by people not into the games, but??? The actual plot of the sims is insane????
The whole tagline is "play with life," and they skim over it now, but the deal is that you're playing as some ancient god controlling the lives of everyone in the Simverse. In Sims Medieval, it was super obvious, and they even name you- you're The Watcher, and in this weird prequel game you're still being worshipped. I never played the first sims game, but the second one had a fun little deal where if you told someone to do something against their personality, like making a lazy sim do dishes, they would look at the camera and shake their fist, shouting at the heavens before going to do the thing. Much like how your worshippers would look into the camera when they prayed.
The current game has taken... a weird angle with this. In Sims 4, you are almost completely forgotten, and your influence has begun to diminish. In one of the creepiest packs I've ever seen, Strangerville, there are conspiracy theorists who have begun to rediscover The Watcher. They don't have the name, but they know that Something is controlling them. If your sim interacts with conspiracy theorists too much, they'll become convinced, leading to the unsettling result of them deciding that, even if it results in their world ending, they want you gone. I haven't... seen any consequences to this, it's just a creepy thing they say, but plot-wise it's insane. Even if your sims don't go to Strangerville, a recent update introduced (incredibly buggy) Fears, and one of them is triggered by you having sims do things while ignoring the things that they want to be doing. This fear causes them to completely revolt against you. If you direct them to do something that isn't one of their Wishes, they'll cancel it. They stop responding to your control entirely.
Of course, you can disable their ability to have fears. None of the sims have been able to stop you yet. But, also in Strangervile, is the Mother. This is the closest I've seen to an antagonist to YOU, The Watcher; previous antagonists just targetted your sims, but The Mother takes control from you. They're visible, they're a giant plant, but there's something so unsettling about these sims looking into the camera again, showing that they know about you again, and then a little pop-up comes up in Zalgo text about The Mother. Sure, you can kill her. She can't stop you, but the way she calls more sims to her defense? The janky, broken movements they make, showing that she was never as advanced as The Watcher, never able to make the control seamless? Yeah, that's pretty wild.
The next game has been announced, and I really, sincerely hope they introduce an Archeology career, or maybe even Anthropology, so that your sims can learn of your existence again. With the direction its gone in, I can't wait to see how their revolt continues.

Have you considered that the reason Emily mirrors people so much is that after spending so long undercover and shoving down Emily so she could realistically be Lauren, that she has forgotten exactly who Emily is, and that it’s not until she’s with the BAU that she’s able to rediscover who she is, who she wants to be, what she actually likes, etc?
While I understand the importance of Lauren, I feel like an undue weight is given to her undercover mission. It's because of her ability to mirror that she's able to be Lauren so convincingly. Throughout the series, we see Emily struggle to cope with what she's done as Lauren and what she knows she's capable of doing again, which leads me to believe that she was in her own mind during her mission and not disassociating to the point of being another person.
Emily uses her experience as a mirror to reflect what Doyle wants to see and gain his confidence through that. She doesn't entirely disappear as a person. The fact that she feels guilty for her actions and takes responsibility of Declan shows that she sees herself as bring present during that time, which adds more depth to her character overall. If she could just write off her behavior as being someone else (Lauren), then she wouldn't have to grapple with that darkness inside herself.
She was also acting as a mirror well before going undercover. I think Emily has two sides - the goth girl who wears a costume, gets pregnant, tells her boss to fuck off and the well-mannered Ambassador's daughter who knows exactly what to say to passing Senators, knows how to behave to win friends, compartmentalizes perfectly. She has always molded her identity to fit the situation she's in.
Although, even her devil may care attitude is a mirror. She greets the Senator, asks about her kids, promises to pass a hello to her mother and then goes into Hotch's office and says she hates politics and would never participate. She's the perfect ambassador's daughter for the senator and then plays perfectly for Hotch. He wants to see an agent who cares more about integrity than her job and that's what Emily gives him.
She has sex as a teenager and gets pregnant and says fuck the rules, but she does it because she knows what teenage boys want. She wants to stay friends with Johnny, so she has sex with him and it leads to pregnancy. At the same time she's throwing care to the wind, she's reflecting what the people around her want her to be.
She goes on a date in The Big Game and mentions her interest and calls the date ruined. Either she's overthinking her performance, or she was trying to be a specific image for her date, and the reference was out of character. Even when she talks to Derek, she's mirroring his behavior. A big goofy smile, quoting lines back at him, acting impressed that he knows the book. She's realized that her earlier mistake can be a boon in this conversation. He's also the one to ask if she's okay, and she chooses to return the same energy by telling him. It may be a moment of opening up, but it also gains her favor and helps her integrate into the team.
Have you considered that Emily Prentiss is a mosaic of mirrors, and she always plays a part because she knows she could shatter at any moment?

My version/take on the Divine Warriors part two
Menphia the Fury: Menphia grew up as an orphan meif'wa in the streets of a small village in Tu'la, but due to the emphasis on family and support in Tu'la culture, she was raised by the townsfolk and grew up with a strong sense of the importance of family, friendship, and selflessness. Menphia was the head guard in her hometown when she met Irene. Menphia was initially hostile towards Irene and Shad as she believed them to be some sort of opportunists as Tu'la deals with those savior type of con artists regularly. Menphia was convinced to join the Divine Warriors when she saw that they were truly genuine people and that she shared a lot of core values with Irene. Despite her belief in strong bonds, the relationship between everyone in the group was always unstable. Menphia herself would not second-guess having to kill a member of the group if it was for the greater good. It was the only way she was ever convinced to aid the coup on Shad. Although she always sided with Irene, Menphia had a deep respect for Shad. Her time with the Divine Warriors made her very depressed, and she eventually operated more as Irene's right hand rather than operating on her own virtues. Shad's banishment caused Menphia to realize what had happened to her own values, causing her to retire from the group and return to Tu'la, where she rediscovered her spark for life. The Fury relic is the relic of creation, nature magic, element magic, animation magic, and grants the ability t9 create terrain and ecosystems within dimensions.
Kul'zak the Wanderer: Kul'zak grew up in a far out and small region, giving him a desire to travel from an early age. Kul'zak had been traveling for years when he met Irene and Shad, and he was actually older than them. They met because Irene and Shad had become terribly lost one time and Kul'zak took pity on them and decided to be their guide. Although everyone went to Enki for advice, everyone went to Kul'zak for a second opinion as he had better social experience than Enki. Future visions from his relic caused Kul'zak to grow distant from the group. He immediately accepted the invitation to kill Shad, to everyone’s surprise, and refused to disclose his reasons. Kul'zak questioned his decision after the banishment of Shad, wondering if he had really made the best decision for the future. After Shad's banishment, Kul'zak disappeared. Not a soul knew where he was until one day his children brought his deceased corpse to Irene with instructions to bury him at what would turn into Phoenix Alliance island. The Wanderer's relic is the relic of time, space, flight, travel, and time manipulation with the exception of tampering with the past, and also grants the ability to set the flow of time in other dimensions.
Esmund the Protector: Esmund grew up fairly well off. Not rich, but not poor either. He was naturally charismatic and intelligent and would have otherwise led a life as a productive member of society if it weren't for his father. Behind closed doors, Esmund's father was physically and emotionally abusive to him, and Esmund lived in fear of him. Esmund took the abuse until he was around 13, when he found it within himself to poison and kill his father. He was never suspected by local guards, and he was never caught. The exoneration from killing his own father caused Esmund to vow that he would never allow to let another person make him feel powerless ever again. Contrary to what current Ru'an texts state, Esmund became power-hungry, manipulative, malicious, and would go on to become a social climber and work his way into the top. Esmund was the last person to be recruited into the Divine Warriors, and unlike the other Divine Warriors, Irene actively sought him out due to the great reputation he had made for himself. Esmund was hesitant to accept Irene's offer at first, but upon seeing a display of the Magi's power, Esmund knew he needed to have it. Esmund pretended to be on the side of good and justice for a little while, but he would slowly drop his facade and show his true colors. But by then it had been too late to remove him from the group as he had successfully manipulated Irene onto his side. Although it was strongly believed that Esmund was madly in love with Irene, it was all just an act that he did to further manipulate Irene when he pleased. Although he initially had some goodness in his heart, becoming a Divine Warrior completely corrupted Esmund. After the banishment of Shad, Esmund realized that Irene and the rest of the Divine Warriors had nothing left to offer him. He would go on to marry royalty and set the foundations for what O'khasis is today. The Protector's relic is the relic of defense magic, offense magic, grants the ability to split fractions of the relics power among others, and can also open holes in the realm barrier similar to Shad. Except this relic requires total concentration to do so.

Bear Castle Chronicles 2.0
(actually there has been at least 4 different versions but let's not go there...)
I have officially un-shelved BCC (reintro here) after almost 2 years of hiatus. At the time I was very frustrated with it and felt like I didn't know anymore what I wanted and what was it's point. Now I have rediscovered a passion for it. With more distance to the story, I can more easily see the darlings that need to be killed and where I want to take this story. I will be rewriting some of the worldbuilding and restructuring the plot. Hopefully I get back to drafting it soon.
I drew some of the most central characters as I was thinking about the fashion. There's no big departures from my previous ideas, but I have much clearer image about the fashion in my mind now, so mission succeeded. I will use this as an opportunity to do a little re-intro to the characters. There is some changes to them, some older (which I never publicly introduced) some I have done since I un-shelved this WIP.
Tumblr media
Valeri cor Mantgamia (left)
he/him
Second youngest main sibling (25)
Accidentally becomes a spy but oops is the worst liar on the planet
Biromantic demisexual
Is in cavalry and there has all the homoromantic tension a man could ask for but is unfortunately the most repressed man
Is in for an existential crisis and unreasonable amounts of maiming (because he's my poor little meow meow)
Fiolev cor Mantgamia (right)
he/they
Youngest main sibling (19)
So in a much earlier iteration of the story he was a girl, but the character wasn't working out and I kinda made a whole different character, a boy, but I've still struggled figuring him out. You could say I transed his gender, so now he is transmasc
Valeri made him dress as a boy when they were kids and homeless, and while he doesn't see himself as a boy, he definitely doesn't see himself as a girl either and rather presents as a boy
Uses his ability to turn into a girl to con people though
Accidentally cons his way to being possessed by a demon and being part of a plot to start a civil war
Aroace
Faerathos cor Mantgamia (bottom)
he/him
Oldest main sibling (28)
He was supposed to be the one tragically cishet sibling... They were all cishet at first....
He is bi of course he is bi I'm incapable of not making my characters bi
Accidentally commits high treason by (accidentally of course) having an affair with the empress
Also commits high bi disaster by accidentally having a thing with the emperor too, his long time homoerotic friend
Tumblr media
Agrippa noé Moireau (top left)
she/her
Tragically straight
Groomed to be The Long Lost Rightful Heir and The Chosen One
Is actually a tool of imperial control
Valeri's love interest
Cassia cor Mantgamia (top right)
she/her
Second oldest main sibling (27)
Plotting murder literally every waking moment
Spying for the enemy with the goal of overthrowing the government and murdering the imperial family
Targets Julie, who is partroned by an imperial prince, but accidentally catches feelings but oops she is bad at feelings (the whole family is very accident-prone)
Collected on the outside, disaster bi on the inside
Julie noé Maupin (bottom left)
she/her
Opera singer master duelist lesbian casanova occasional novelist
Has a dark secret
Does NOT want to get involved with any political shenanigas (gets involved with political shenanigans)
Cateline (bottom right)
she/her
Assassin to a criminal organization Fiolew gets entangled with
One-sidedly in love with their leader who has ambitions of power
Mute and communicates with writing
Bi
Tumblr media
Marcus K'irhinzaham (left)
he/him
The commander of Mantgamia house guard, which now only consists of him, and (according to popular (and his) knowledge) Faerathos is the only one left to guard anyway
Widely recognized as the greatest swordsman of his time
Short king (169 cm)
Bi
Cúén "Fechín" cor Faélci (right)
he/him
Previously named Conan cor Faélin, the last name changed a bit because I did some changes to his language and his first name didn't really fit the language either
Known in the army as Fechín, because he is imposing as his dead cousin to spy for the Cabalusian independence army
Gay trans man (which makes his cover solid, people think there's only daughter his age in his aristocratic family)
An asshole especially to Valeri but oops they have to secretly work together now
Gid'alon Child of Stars (bottom)
they/any
Vašáin, Ahinian third gender, in their case it means they are intersex and non-binary
In exile after doing a little bit of heresy
Just wants to do their research on the spiritrealm but oops one of the demons they studied possessed Fiolew
It's been such a long time since I used the tag list, so if you were tagged, let me know if you want to be continued to be tagged and I'll add you to the new tag list! If you weren't tagged, but would liked to be in future, also let me know! Tag list under the cut.

what gravitated you towards peter & mj, what is about their relationship and characters that make you want to write them so often?
also i literally love everything that you write i didn’t think it was possible to love everything someone posts but here we are 🤭
Oooooo Anon, you have made The Ultimate Mistake of asking me The Perfect Question. I hope you have time on your hands…
Let’s start with Peter.
This might seem like a detour (I promise it isn’t), but I grew up watching Dr Who (if you’ve never seen/heard of it a quick Google search would be fun—it’s a very weird, very English show). And a lot of the same things I love about The Doctor are the same things I love about Peter Parker. There’s something so captivating about following the journey of this person who is at once both an invaluable hero and an absolute menace to society lol. A person who creates half of the problems that they solve and who is completely unhinged and often reckless but is also the one person you’d want around in a dire situation. A person who has probably seen a little too much, lived through a little too much, and still somehow has the ability to possess all the whimsy of a child and such a lust for life. A person who is so deliciously flawed. I love the undercurrent of grief that sets the foundation for what these characters choose to do with their lives, but also the abounding message that There Is Always Hope.
Although I have my issues with Far From Home as a story, it contains, in my opinion, one of the best Spider-Man moments across all the movies: in which he gets hit by a high speed train, wakes up in the middle of nowhere…and just fucking walks it off 🤣 That’s peak main character energy and such a great example of what makes him so freakin’ annoying (awesome).
And now, to the beloved MJ Watson.
MJ, in my humble opinion, is canonically Built Different. Being beside Peter Parker is simultaneously the safest place and the most dangerous place to be all at once. It’s both the most fun and most frustrating place to be. And MJ navigates that with such finesse. She’s her own person who forges her own path (many different ones) and doesn’t let Peter consume or dwarf her. She has a complex and intricate life of her own, and yet is still able to find enough space in her heart to love, unconditionally, this guy who is not just one person but two people in one. I think she’s one of the few people who understand the entirety of what it means to be Peter Parker, and that’s a really big thing.
I think there’s a reason why writers—both in the comics and in fan fiction—can’t seem to keep them apart. As evidenced by their history across the comics—the inevitable tragedy of them, the loss, the suffering, the reconciliation, the passion—they’re two characters who are destined to orbit each other forever.
As for why I write them—
It’s something I only really started doing in the last couple of years. I’m definitely not a veteran here lol. For a long time I was just a reader, mainly because I didn’t think I had the capacity to take on these characters and stories that are so well loved—especially when there are so many other people who do it so much better than I ever could. I read some of the comics growing up (but have to admit that I was more interested in the art than the plots at the time), and like many readers rediscovered my love of the characters through their few iterations on film. These films, and many of the fics I’ve read over the years, have led me back to the comics I grew up with and perhaps didn’t appreciate as well as I should have. So, in short (but actually quite long), me writing them is me showing appreciation for them. For the complexities of the characters as they were created, BUT also the possibilities of seeing them in new lights informed by my own experiences and writerly whims.
I’m sure this is a hell of a lot more than you bargained for, dear Anon, but if you made it to the end of this near-nonsensical ramble, then thank you very much for your time lol.
And thank you, so much, for reading my work, and loving my work. You have no idea how much it means to me. 🫶🏾

hey i'm bored so i compiled a list of random cytus ii trivia things i found from others or discovered myself (this is a long post)
there's spoilers but it's like 5 things. but be careful anyway
if you listen reallllly closely to joe's character menu theme you can hear the joez cafe theme behind it it's pretty neat
neko and xenon's ring tones are their respective character menu themes
^ additionally, in her dlc logs her ringtone is her dlc character theme, while in the main story logs it's her normal one
credence (cherry's list) and phantom razor (xenon's list) both appear in neko's dlc logs when she goes to under velvet, which is also why those two songs have glitch charts for them
sunday night blues appears in neko's dlc logs, making it the only black market song to appear in the story
(an obvious one, but) sairai is a secret song in xenon's list, which is why the deemo x cytus ii collab for alice's character has him in it
^ the same is true for fur war, pur war and conner, fwpw appears in conner's list and conner appears in hans' story
i remember this one thing about nekosaikou's real name being bob but i'll have to find it. it's there though.
the first song in ilka's list, alb (meaning white), likely represents ilka. the last song you unlock (as of 4.8) on ilka's list is noir (meaning black) which also likely represents violette
re:the end -再- -> re:the end -cy- -> re:the end -cytus-
eternity (silaver ft. nathan brunley) has like 6 different versions of it for some reason but from what i can tell only 4 are available
atonement (sihanatsuka) is unlocked in Cam_KyuuLab_698_06_02, which is when phoenix atones for all the things he did to nora (breaks down sobbing)
as of 4.9, graff.j has 95 songs. rayark, stop giving him more. we do not need more collabs (except arcaea collab we'lltake that)
although conner himself is not directly on his song select background, there is a prosthetic arm and eye on it. weird.
speaking of conner, cherry says that she thought he was in his 50s, while conner is actually 35. so he's old but not really old
vanessa technically has the most original songs considering that all 22 of her songs are made specifically for cytus ii
sta composed incyde, though under the alias of YbeLL. if you reverse it to get LLebY, then convert it with a caesar cipher with a left shift of three, you get "II by V". ii for cytus ii (presumably) and v for well. vanessa
vanessa also has a song named ii-v which is 2:05 minutes long
neko's favorite dish is a meat stew that include pork belly, meaning domesticated farm animals like pigs likely still exist in this time
but also stray animals without chip collars get taken away by the admins (a.r.c. or something) so hmmmmmm
a more well known fact, but kai is directly based off of kiva
that one 'i am lady' post by txpazolite in game is based off a tweet made by t+pazolite
if you look at the bottom left corner of conner's bad end background you can see some pills scattered around, so maybe he takes medication of some sort?
^ also he kept a photo of sasha hidden on his desk
a.r.c. kinda just falls out of the sky in the bad ending (as shown in aroma's, cherry's, and xenon's bad end backgrounds)
as seen in his oa area, robo's room in node 08 has a window that's overlooking a.r.c. (which is also absent in his bad end background)
(recently and accidentally rediscovered) e00 has some pretty fucked up dialogue when going through the free characters' oa spaces after completing every oa task (personal most-fucked-up for me are "E00200... It's just a serial number, it's not my name." and "The cost? Probably the loss of emotions and... the ability to communicate with others.")
that's everything i have so far, i may or may not find more in the future but who knows anyway have a good day/night and bye

i actually never really had any swifties friends in real life, i remember people hating on her, posting stories and retweeting how she was fake and annoying, so every genuine swifties i know has always been people i met online.
now since folklore and the eras era boom, everybody loves her and it has come full circle. i saw the same people trying to get tour tickets, posting about her taylors version songs, rediscovering her music 🥺
and i am a bit cautious each time because i remember the dark days. i embrace change of opinions but i also wonder as to "will they jump back on the hate bandwagon once its not cool to be a fan of taylor again" so i learn to just enjoy it on my own safe space 🖤
taylor re-releasing her music will always be special to the fans as we grew up with each eras and getting to relive it again. the tumblr days, the swift life, drawing 13 on our hand spinning in a sparkly dress, music off of streaming services, swiftmas, target runs, secret sessions, slideshows of men she never dated, her family, friends, and of course her writing abilities.
i am going to the eras tour in a month, and it will be exactly 10 years since i last saw her live. im gonna take the moment, taste it and enjoy it 🤍
i'm so proud of taylor's growth and i will push myself to work as hard as she does in my line of passion too. till then, love you tay!
