I saw your tags from the post a while ago about how the small details in totk Make up for the main story, and while I agree, I gotta say that the things some people say about the story being bare bones or whatever (and BOTW’s story to that extent) just…doesn’t make sense to me. Because I think the problem is with the execution rather than the writing. Like, BOTW was even more bare bones,because it was just a bunch of exposition. Not to say the story wasn’t good because it absolutely is, but it was minimal, imo. Anyway I said all that to say that I personally do think that totk has the better story, but the execution is worse and I think the open world format hurts it. And I think if people could look past that they could see how good it is. But of course that’s all just me. Neither game’s story is particularly great but I love them both. Anyway I did not intend for this to get so long but what do you think about that? I’m just curious 🙂

Yeah, I can definitely agree that the open world aspect hurts the story of Tears. I was thinking about this earlier, and I think Breath of the Wild's story worked because it is so barebones. The developers were able to develop the story around the gameplay, which has always been Nintendo's adjective for both of these games (and probably all of their games, though I am not too much on an expert on that in all honesty) first and foremost. And it worked, for the most part.

I do believe there can be no "perfect" Zelda game, and especially not one that can appease all Zelda fans (even the games that everyone praises to be perfect has their haters, though I guess hate is too strong of a word). I think the main downfall of Tears of the Kingdom was that it couldn't live up to fan's expectations and wants for the Zelda franchise. Tears of the Kingdom was always meant to be BotW+, since the developers had so many ideas for Breath of the Wild they had to make a second game in order to fit all of those ideas, which led to them repeating the same gameplay mechanics as Breath of the Wild.

Don't get me wrong, TotK's gameplay is good since it what made Breath of the Wild good as well, but because it's exactly like Breath of the Wild is what made it sour in the minds of players. I guess for the players who played other kinds of games in between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom allowing them time to do something else, it isn't so bad. But for the players who play nothing but Zelda games or who were late into getting into the Zelda franchise (such as myself) it can be a little... repetitive (and I'm mainly talking about the quests, shrines, and the same mechanic of unlocking a terminal in a dungeon found in both botw and totk). Hence why I was so drawn all to the other world discoveries not unlocked by doing a side quest, which I think is the greatest improvement TotK brought imo.

In terms of TotK's story... I don't hate it exactly, but I will say I will prefer BotW's better. I still kind of need to analyze the story of TotK fully for myself to draw any real conclusions for me; my biggest problem is how it completely erases BotW's story from it's story. Sure, half a dozen years has passed in between games (both in-game and irl) but surely the impact of defeating the Calamity would've left something... bigger. Like, wouldn't word have gone around that Link was the one to have defeated the darkness looming the castle? They could've at least acknowledged him directly instead of pulling a Tony Hawk and saying "oh you have the same name as that guy who defeated that evil some time ago". I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but then again everyone knows Zelda and he has never her side so, ???. Sorry, didn't mean to rant there. It was kind of a frustration I felt along with many others while playing the game. Main story-wise I don't have any real issues other than you're seriously telling me that there was another ancient civilization before the previous civilization that had even more ancient technology? It kind of pushes my suspension of disbelief (and once again repeating things from BotW).

Anyways, thank you for sharing your opinion anon! Once again I am immensely sorry it took me this long to come to it; tldr in my opinion I prefer Breath of the Wild's story over TotK's. You do make a lot of good points that I agree with, but I think it boils down to personal preference over which game is better due to how similar the games are, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on opinion.

This will become obvious even before he realizes that he is in love with you. 

Does he follow you around, spend all his free time with you, share lunch?? Literally the boy looks at you like a puppy in love

He can literally even flirt with you until you start doing it back. HE CAN DO THIS, YOU CAN'T!

If you ask, he can even let you touch his ears, but of course for a certain price, right?

He'll know he's in love with you when he's been told for a while that he smells just like you. For a while he didn’t pay attention to it, but he began to notice that he absolutely always tries to be close to you. Even if you are with your other friends, he can come to you and quite calmly take you with him 

Maybe now he understands. But I'm not sure that he will make big romantic gestures - first of all, he is not completely sure what you like and does not want to lose his friendship with you.

He regretted it. Very much. Now these two are teasing not only him but also you 

Floyd even directly told you several times about Azul's feelings, but you decided to listen to him, because this is literally Floyd.

But when Jade started hinting to you that your octopus friend feels something for you, you didn’t find it funny at all 

Now he tries to immediately lead you away from these two. 

He's praying that you don't say anything about it. Otherwise, you will have to deal with a completely red, worried and stuttering octopus. 

He also started inviting you to his dorm a lot more often. What's wrong with him wanting to spend time with his FRIEND?

I've seen your posts about weird representation of society (regarding the "natural order of things") in xenofiction, especially in lion king, so I wanted to ask:

could you recommend any xenofiction media that has all (or most of the) animal species sapient? Or is the only solution to make just one or two species sapient while the others (especially prey) are plain animals?

If you want to jump in with me though, I am following the webcomic Africa. It updates every Wednesday. Africa is about a mother Leopard on the verge of a great ecological disaster, the relationship between her children and the animals around her, and the strength of both instinct and choice as the characters face an uncertain future.

Since it's ongoing, I still don't know how it's going to end and can't judge it as a full work! But it's absolutely fascinating and I think the author is doing a fantastic job so far. Bonus points for the way it portrays humans, btw.

As an aside though, funny you mention it because like... ever since I was a kid I've had a story I want to tell with the premise. It's a scintilla I've kept close to me for well over a decade but haven't done anything official with. So this is actually a theme I've thought about a lot.

It's rare to see it done well though because like... its very premise butts heads with reality. The "natural order" that an animal follows is not something it moralizes. A tiger doesn't have the capacity to think about how fucked up it is to kill to stay alive, the deer doesn't know that if its population isn't controlled it will destroy the forest.

They're animals. They don't HAVE that agency. Your dog does not care about being sterilized. A snake doesn't differentiate between a pinky and an adult mouse except in terms of if it will fit in its mouth. But the minute you put human morality in there... they have the ability to reason, create and agree on the rules of a society, make choices about MORALITY.

If nothing is going to change about their world, you just end up putting human arguments about "natural order" in their mouths and, well... start telling a parable justifying this "natural order."

(Genuine) Does what I'm saying make sense? Animals DON'T rationalize or negotiate. HUMANS do.

So the minute you're approaching a world with that logic, like it or not, you are invoking those "arguments from nature." And you're putting them in a being that is not fully an animal or a human, but an anthropomorphic mix which CAN rationalize but WON'T make an effort to change their world.

(Which is why tbh the best examples i know of are works with a theme of "change.")

OH WAIT I also remember another that's interesting!! Leafy: Hen into the Wild actually has a fascinating take on it. It's not interested in "moralizing" or really being about an animal society. It's a very emotional sort of movie, and it's about joys in adversity, the freedom that choice gives you, how bad things are going to happen and you can never completely prevent them.

INTENSE movie emotionally, the ending will wreck you (especially in the English translation which leaves out a really important theme making it feel abrupt x_x) but it's really good. Check that one out.

OH and also You Are Umasou. That one has more pitfalls imo (it does try to moralize a bit) but it's super unique as a movie. And is about dinosaurs.

The one who doesn't wanna talk about it, he is over the whole thing of course but he feels bad for even remembering. It's not that he felt desire when he saw the person but the sense of nostalgia feels wrong for him. He feels like it shouldn't even cross his mind, really, so it feels to him like a betrayal of sorts. If you don't notice he lets it go, might mope a little bit but ends pretty quickly. But if you catch on and ask him he will tell you what's bothering him but will try to talk as little as possible.

Shidou

The one who will openly talk about it, no problem what so ever. There is a chance he wouldn't even notice the person, to be honest, but if he does, he really doesn't care that much, thinking of the past isn't for him. He doesn't consider talking about the past a problem and doesn't think that remembering something that was good is any type of betrayal. So long as he isn't desiring the person it's fine. If you ask he won't have a problem about telling you but he also might not think it could upset you. It doesn't come from a bad place, he is just blunt.

Nagi

Chances are he won't notice the person, no matter how good it was he isn't one to notice things or people unless they are straight up in front of him. But if he does notice he will probably take a while to actually remember, he'll feel like he should remember and it'll take a while for his brain to catch up. Just shows you that he doesn't care, sure it was great, but he has something else now, thinking of the past is a hassle. If you notice, he'll tell you what he is thinking about, might hesitate though, thinking that your reaction could be troublesome.

Reo

Another one who won't want to talk about it and feels bad for even noticing the person in first place, and remembering what they had as that good when he has you makes him feel a bit sick with himself. Really does make his insecurities flare up, the feeling that if he is even thinking about the past he isn't being a good boyfriend to you. Will try to compensate his anxieties by being an extra good boyfriend, which could alert you. If you ask him seriously he will answer, he's gonna tell you about it and be all apologetic as he does.

Oliver

Ok so Oliver is a special case, if he is still a trash bag, oh well, this isn't gonna go over well at all. But if he has matured over his slut era at this point, he won't care. He will laugh about it even. He's gonna remember, sure, but in that weird way where you feel like your past was so different that it's alien to you. Wouldn't have a problem telling you about it but will also say that it feels like a lifetime away from him. It will probably just work to leave him struck with the notion of how different he was before to what he is at the moment.

"Taller than you, so yeah. I'm the tall stack."

You grin at him. Plastic packaging crinkles in your hands, fingers adorned in skinny rings. You've drawn a smiley face on the back of one. It winks at him.

"What are they?" he asks.

"Marshmallows. You want one?" you ask immediately, opening the bag. You have an eager, genuine smile.

There aren't many left. They're pink and smell very strong. Not Steve's kind of snack. "Maybe later. I didn't know you liked that stuff."

You close the bag and Steve's pretty much enchanted when your top teeth appear. Your smile keeps on getting better. He doesn't know how you manage it.

He'd ask, but he doubts you'd know either.

"They're not for me, handsome."

He coughs. "No?"

Your skirt gets all tugged up by the wind. You pat it down, hiding the lengths of your legs under near sheer fabric. "No," you say, eyes on your clothes, "they're for the raccoons."

Steve stops dead where he'd been reaching to help you with your skirt. It takes his brain a second to catch up, disbelief so strong he can't wrap his head around what he's hearing.

"You're the one who's been feeding my raccoons?" he asks incredulously.

You blink at him, pretty lashes kissing again and again. "Yeah? Robin said you've been so busy lately. I thought I'd help."

"That is not helping! That's the opposite of helping."

You blink some more. Damn you for being as pretty as you are. "Stevie, you haven't been feeding them too, have you?"

"Of course I haven't-"

"Good! They'll get super fat if you feed them too much."

Steve stares at you.

He sequesters you inside for some coffee. You sip at it, scrunch up your face and then add the biggest heap of sugar possible into the mug, stirring like this is the most fun thing you could possibly be doing tonight.

Steve tries explaining why you can't feed the raccoons.

"They keep coming back."

"That's the whole point," you say softly, reaching over the table to grab his hand.

Steve's turn to blink.

"They keep rummaging through my trash."

"That's why you have to feed them, duh, so they don't get hungry."

You're on a train going nowhere fast. Steve's just glad to be on the train with you, and he's doubly glad when you intertwine your fingers and mess with his class ring. He supposes there are worse things. He weighs it up. You stop feeding the raccoons, and you also stop visiting him under the guise of feeding his raccoons.

"Why marshmallows?" he asks, clearing his throat.

"I didn't have any cat food left."

"Oh... that makes sense."

Alex Falling in Love with the Farmer Headcanons

Hi anon! Sorry if this took too long. I was also waiting for someone to ask for him lol. He's a great bachelor! :D

As I'm fairly certain it's stated in his ten heart cutscene, Alex liked you from the start. He was somewhat aware of it; he did notice he took a physical liking to you, but always assumed it would leave with time. You two just hung out as friends for a while.

It only hit him smack in the face that day he told you about his mother. All of a sudden, it's 'wait, why am I even telling them this?', followed by, 'oh-'. He's sort of just... awkward about it all. Like 'yup. Alright. This is happening.'

After you leave, he goes straight to his grandparents. I mean, they've been together so long, they must know something to help him! He tries to be vague about it, but it comes through anyway. He thinks he's mastered the art of disguise while not-so-subtly dropping in hints like farming every two sentences.

He's quieter, but somehow also manages to show off even more. If that makes any sense. He likes to hear you talk. With his whole backstory thing going on I imagine he's got a lot on his mind, so it's nice to just take a break. Plus, you've always got great stories to tell.

As for the showing off, well... it can be insufferable. He manages to get a bit too in your face at times, but he only means the best. You bet he'll be waiting outside your door at six in the morning ready to do whatever heavy lifting you need. You may or may not use this to your advantage to make him clean up the animal poop.

His feelings for you are fairly obvious. Long stares from across the field, arms over the shoulder - all that stuff. He also gives you lots of compliments. He knows what it's like to be called worthless (and I assume have low self-esteem from it) and he doesn't want you to end up that way. He can tell whenever you're down and goes to lift you back up as best he can.

"Hey farmer! Your farm's looking great. I heard you were feeling down lately, wanna talk about it?"

You get a TON of Evelyn's baked goods. Mostly biscuits, of course, but sometimes you get shortbread or muffins or even a slice of cake! Alex tries his hand at cooking too. He wants to get better to impress you (and his grandmother).

George is super proud. Finally, his (to be honest: quite lonely) grandson is getting a proper friendship (not to throw shade on Haley, but before the farmer moves in, she's not really friendship material)! Evelyn is a bit more clueless to the whole romance thing going on between you two, but once George fills her in on it, she gets to work inviting you over almost every night for dinner.

Speaking of the grandparents trying to get you two closer, Evelyn has randomly mentioned Alex being single. She means no harm, but it's very obvious she's trying to nudge you two together. It's cute, though. And you get a ton of free food whenever she does.

"Oh, hello dear. I just finished making these with Alex," (she did not, in fact, make them with Alex), "we were just talking about any future relationships he might get into."

Alex actually gets a lot more insecure. He's just nervous about messing up in front of you. He doesn't want to risk losing another person he loves. Just seeing you makes his heart all fuzzy - it's crazy.

I'll split them into two with Yanqing as a student and Yanqing as a teenager. I sprinkled in a little mention of his parents since I wasn't sure. Do feel free to send another ask if you want some more or something different!

Yanqing as a student

Yanqing is a great student both in terms of academics and Cloud Knight training.

For Academics, he's incredibly studious partially due to his perfectionist nature but also his parents' expectations. While their expectations are not incredibly high, they were not okay with him just barely passing. As he got older, he did not need to ask his parents for help as often, but if he did, he would usually only ask Dan Feng.

Yanqing excelled in his Cloud Knight and swordsmanship training. Jing Yuan and Jingliu personally took care of training him once he was able to lift a sword. While Jingliu was the stricter of the two, she still spoiled him a lot more than when she was teaching Jing Yuan. It was very obvious from an early age that Yanqing was a prodigy when it came to wielding a sword.

However, he was also expected to learn how to fight with other weapons. While the Cloud Knights have basic training in fighting with a variety of weapons, Yanqing was expected to have an advanced understanding of how to wield a bow and spear, courtesy of Dan Feng and Baiheng. (Thank you to @ladylucina28 for helping me come up with this) Yanqing did not enjoy it and quickly dropped it once his skills were deemed passable.

Yanqing as a teenager

He is still very close to his parents. If he finishes his training early, he would go to their place of work to hang out with them. Partially for the company and partially because they will feed him whatever he wants so he doesn't have to buy it. They also give him money if he begs enough so he has developed no sense of financial responsibility.

His best friends are Tingyun, Qingque, Sushang, and Qingni. He doesn't hang out with Qingni as much once she starts her training though. He also considers Bailu one of his best friends since he'll sneak into her office so she can heal him before Dan Feng finds out about his recent batch of injuries and sends him home with no training for a week.

Yanqing, when he enters his teen years, begins being sent out to the field. While his skill has out-classed his fellow knights for years, Jing Yuan could not bear sending his child out into danger. However, there came a time when it was obvious that if Yanqing was not sent out to the field of his own free will, he would sneak out and put himself in more danger.

Of course, he does have his streaks of hyper-independence which drives his fathers up the wall. He takes on incredibly risky missions and acts without care for his own well-being. He takes his oath as a Cloud Knight to defend the people very seriously, even at the cost of himself.

As he grows older and seeks to carve his own identity, he also starts to grow insecure about his standing compared to those around him. He starts to question himself as to who he is, and what makes him valuable to his family, and it is also when comments of him getting his position through nepotism start to affect him. His self-worth also starts to tank. (sorry for the angst 😅)

This starts to put him at odds with his family who don't really know how to understand it. They all grew up too fast due to the wars and as a result never really were teenagers. There was a point where it felt as if Yanqing was on an island of his own, distant and confused. It also greatly distressed his parents since Yanqing did not want to communicate to them what exactly he was feeling since he felt it would make him ungrateful for all the care they gave him.

They, of course, do overcome it and Yanqing slowly returns to being a lot happier.

Little notes: Haha, sorry that was a bit of a hiatus! I've been struggling with, well...life. You know how it is. But I'm back because I have fictional person brain rot. If you don't want to see anything besides my hero/villain stuff, feel free to blacklist the obey me tags.

Also, I'm kinda new to the obey me! fandom, so I'm sorry if the characters are a bit off. I won't be writing about some of them until I've learned more about them.

Lucifer

Lucifer found it a bit strange how quickly you took to him.

He makes you do your homework before class tomorrow? No complaints. He reminds you of bedtime (which you have because nobody's allowed to stay up later than Lucifer in the house of lamentation due to the fact that there may not be one left by morning)? "Okay, no problem! I can study TSL later." (Still trying to hang out with Levi, are you?) If anything, you seem grateful for his overbearing tendencies.

Really, with the chaos of his brothers, he's a little bit weirded out by how much trouble you don't cause. Maybe you're just scared of the demons?

Yeah, that has to be it. Works for him.

Except...it doesn't.

Not when he comes in screaming at Mammon for yet another failing grade and you start trembling, face pale and legs locked from your place on the couch, as if you don't quite know whether to freeze or run.

Dammit, he needs to take care of this lest the angels see you as a hostage and another celestial war is started. Besides, Diavolo doesn't want the human exchange student terrified, he's trying to foster relations.

So, for once, Lucifer forgoes stringing Mammon up from the ceiling, much to everyone's surprise (and your and his shared relief) and instead stalks off to his office to calm down with his favorite cursed records.

Later that night, when he's sending everyone to bed, he saves you for last. "MC, please follow me to my office."

His tone is gentle, reassuring even, but you know better than to mistake it for a request. Your mind races as you follow him on shaky legs. What have you done now? Idiot!

When you reach his office, Lucifer gestures for you to sit in the armchair across from his desk. It's surprisingly comfortable as you sink into it, but you can't help feeling like you're being swallowed up. Is he going to eat you?

As he sits in the chair across from you, it doesn't seem like it. Yet.

"How are you adjusting to life in The Devildom?"

You can't figure out his game here. His face reveals little, but you get the sense that he's asking a question without asking it.

"I'm adjusting," you say simply, expecting him to drop it at that. You're just a mortal, after all.

"I asked how you are adjusting," he counters. "It must be a big shift for you."

Really, it must be, he had realized earlier in the confines of his office—he and his brothers struggled enough after the fall, but you, in your human ways, had not even realized the existence of magic or god before coming here, and now you're surrounded by demons? Not to mention that you're still a child. Lucifer doesn't like to curse, usually finding such foul language beneath him, but he doesn't know what to call it other than a mindfuck.

The Avatar of Pride's efforts to push away the tinge of guilt that accompanied said realization have been in vain. He and his brothers haven't exactly been nice to you, have they?

He's long decided to help you adjust, if only to get rid of this stubborn and unbecoming guilt, but he can't exactly do that if you won't tell him what's wrong and you're just staring at him like a gaping fish, so he doubles down. "Are you experiencing any difficulties, MC?"

Fuck, fuck, fuck—if your mind was racing before, it's moving so quickly now that it's burning into ashes that, somehow, through the magic you've just learned exists, are blown away by the wind to spell those three words.

"MC?" Lucifer repeats your name, eyes widening in that half a millimeter of concern Diavolo talks about (referencing that one chat, I forget the actual measurement and I know his eyes technically widened in surprise, but give me a break) . Is this a human thing? No demons he knows of are this...weak. It's an active effort for him to restrain his judgement as he raises his eyebrows at you which, finally, seems to prompt a response.

"P-please, I'm sorry, I'll do better! I'm sorry for whatever I did. I w-won't do it again, don't eat me!"

Well...

Suddenly he feels like an ass for judging you. Just what ideas has Mammon been putting into your head? You look like you've seen your own ghost. And again, he reminds himself, you are a weak and defenseless human child in a world of demons.

"Nobody, not even Beel, is going to eat you. As our human exchange student, I won't allow you to die before the year closes," he says, lips pulling into a frown, studying you more intently now and watching the way you squirm as he looks at you, back ramrod straight against the armchair. What is going on with you? "Why do you believe that I would eat you?"

"I, uh..." Okay, so you don't think he'll eat you, but it's never good when an adult looks at you like that. "I don't know, you seemed upset earlier and now I've been called in here, so I thought I might have screwed up somehow—not, like, arson or anything, but I thought...I thought you'd find something."

"You thought I'd find something?" Lucifer stresses the word.

"...Yes?" you say with all the hesitance of someone on death row confessing to a crime. You swear you see Lucifer's eye twitch for just a split second.

Meanwhile, Lucifer's got it. At first, he didn't really pay all that much mind when Diavolo mentioned that you come from "troubled circumstances", mostly hoping that you wouldn't be just as troubled and therefore troubling yourself, but he's starting to see that you are—just in a different way than the others.

Of course, he doesn't outright mention or address the clues he's just put together—The Avatar of Pride can tell better than anyone that you're hiding your past as well as you can, which is, admittedly, not well, but he's been persuaded to humor you.

"I am not a sadist." Okay, he is, but it's better that you not know that. He continues, "I am not looking to find something to punish you for and, while there are some things I would kill you for such as threatening my brothers, Diavolo, or the Devildom, I have no intentions of causing you harm under regular circumstances. You may get an F on your math test without fearing me or any punishment I would give you, MC."

You blink as you process the words, a little bit of the fear edging out of your body. "I can?" Your voice is tentatively hopeful.

"You can," Lucifer reaffirms, shuffling his paperwork around, if only for your benefit, as tears begin to brim in your eyes. He allows you to save face. "Go to bed. You're welcome in my office if you ever need to talk."

"Thank you," you mumble to him as you hurry from the room. You don't know what this means, but you know you're not dead and that's good enough.

The next morning, Lucifer's brothers are woken up earlier and met with a stern talk about being kind to you, accompanied by the reminder that you are a child even by human standards who is adjusting to life in literal hell and the threat of them having to adjust to hell a second time over (a punishment—Lucifer's punishment is the second hell). "We're building relations with the exchange student for Diavolo," he justifies explains.

His brothers aren't terribly thrilled with the idea of cozying up to a human, but they agree because they remember how hard the fall was for them.

Asmodeus, being the most familiar and cool with humans due to his pact with Solomon and finding your fearful, doe-like nature adorable, offers to take you out clubbing—to which Lucifer reminds him of the child thing.

Fine, fine, no clubbing. He'll pamper you instead, you certainly have enough split ends to suggest you could use a haircut.

From then on out, a new rule is established where each of the brothers, Lucifer included, have to spend time with you every so often with one or more brothers spending time with you each day of the week.

Needless to say, you're confused by the sudden kindness but you soon don't mind it, finding yourself slowly warming up to them—and, much to the shock of your ruined self-esteem, they to you.

Lucifer is pleasantly surprised and secretly grateful to find that his brothers get into less trouble with you around and, eventually, even more pleasantly surprised to find that you seem almost normal around them. You no longer eat in silence at the dinner table, refuse to meet their eyes, or cower like a puppy used to getting kicked when they raise their voices at each other (everyone has learned not to raise their voice at you, even Satan).

It's not long before Lucifer is calling you his best behaved child sibling. He even goes so far as to have everyone retake the family photo with you in it.

Is there any way he can turn you into a demon? He'd like you to be his child sibling for forever, and humans die far too quickly. As far as Lucifer's concerned, Satan has something new to research.

And it's not as though you don't seem to have some level of darkness in you. Just the other day you heard screams coming from the lower levels of Lord Diavolo's castle and followed them in spite of your fear, kind heart wanting to aid whoever was suffering.

According to Barbatos, you didn't even flinch when you found him torturing your parents, pliers still gripped around one of your dad's bloody fingernails.

Hell, you even asked to join in! (How Barbatos responded to that, I'll let you all imagine lol)

Also, Lucifer will never admit it, but he's quite possibly never felt more pride than the time you, Satan, and Belphie pranked him with a whoopie cushion on his desk chair. Normally he would have beat his brothers with it, but he could tell from the less than ideal invisibility cloak over the object that you were involved and hid a smile from prying eyes as he sat on what felt like his throne despite the ensuing fart noises.

And that's how his family of seven became eight once again.

hi sorry for taking so long to answer. i hope this helps and makes sense (if you have any other questions feel free to ask or I could even send you the psd if you want). tutorial below the cut as it's image heavy :)

So basically I started with my 2 gifs at 540x540 pixels. This isn't essential, but I'll also note that when I crop the gifs I like to uncheck the "Delete Cropped Pixels" box so that I can move them around after cropping in case I don't like how it was cropped initially.

For this gifset I ended up putting the two gifs and their colourings in a group with clipping masks for the colouring layers (curves, vibrance, etc). Making the two gifs into smart objects would also work and would be my usual preferred method, but for this particular set it was easier to use the groups so I could keep the colouring of the you weren't a maybe speech.

Once the gifs are overlayed on top of each other only the top gif should be visible (as below)

To create the grid effect there are some tutorials for versions of photoshop which have a setting where you can just input the configuration you want (e.g 4x4) and it will draw up the guides for you. Here is the initial tutorial I saw showing how to do that and another one I found just now which outlines the exact same grid effect as in my set. This way is easier than the way I did it, but my photoshop doesn't have the option 😭

For mine I created a New Guide by following the menu path "View > New Guide"

This opens up a dialog box that looks like this

As the guide menu is in cm I doubled checked what the size of the canvas is in cm. A 540 x 540 px canvas comes to 19.05 cm. I wanted to draw a 4x4 guide, so to start I divided 19.05 by 4. This comes to 4.76, so I input this value into the box and clicked ok.

To draw the other lines I just added 4.76 to each previous line drawn so that the lines were even. The guides ended up being (4.76, 9.52 and 14.28). I then repeated the same numbers but with the Vertical orientation button selected.

This gives you a guide which looks like this:

To start exposing the other gif I grabbed the rectangle select tool and started selecting the areas I wanted to mask. The tool should snap to the guides so it is fairly easy to stay within the squares.

Then I just masked over it with a black paintbrush

I continued on with this until I was happy with how it looked - this was my final result

And this is how my layer mask looked

To draw the lines I then selected the line tool and set it to white and 2px. To draw them I held down the shift button, which allowed me to snap the line I'm drawing directly on top of the guides and continue with it as all one shape.

When you draw on top of the guides they go orange

I then toggled the guide off by pushing ctrl + ;

I checked to make sure all the boxes and lines were aligned properly and just cleaned up the gifs by using the selection box and masking until it was perfect (as I'm very type A)

I set the line layer to "Lighten" blending mode and an opacity of 70% as I thought it looked better.

Then I just added the text and moved it around how I pleased.

I mean... If you want my honest whb Omegaverse thoughts, they are slightly different than that pregnancy ask. But I'm one of those people who can hold multiple headcanons in my head at one time. Uhhh, my genuine thoughts are closer to:

Only humans have second genders. Devils are closer to beats or monsters and angels are more similar to eldritch horrors.

Yes, human pheromones can set off devils. Like I said, devils are closer to beasts or monsters. It doesn't work quite the same as it would with a fellow 'second gender" human, but it can still rile them up.

This also means that devils go into heats and ruts just like alphas and omegas. Human pheromones can set off a devil's instincts, but a devil's pheromones cannot do the same. In other words: A human heat can send a devil into rut, a devil heat would not make a human go into rut. However, a horny devil asking to be fucked may still do the trick, it just isn't the pheromones at work.

MC is obviously up to the reader as every MC is different. Omega MC pheromones would makes devils go "mate??" while alpha MC would make devils go "competition!" and that changes the dynamics.

Minheyok gives beta energy (sorry my dude). But, if you are an angst enjoyer like me, that works just fine. No matter what, he gets this overwhelming feeling of loving MC, but their genders are not social compatible in the way he wants.

Solomon was definitely an alpha. Those devils saw competition and the competition won until they were basically kittens against him. God also fell for it.

Angels are largely unaffected by human pheromones. They can think humans smell sweet or spicy or nutty or whatever, but pheromones are just another scent to them. Nothing special.

Having said that, I do think MC would be an exception since they are the legacy of Solomon and God played favorites. God gave everything to Solomon, after all. I bet the angels called Solomon stinky. lol

LUCIFER IS A WHOLE OTHER MESS! Man went from alien thinking and expressions of affection to mostly bestial instincts. The first time he felt territorial was Paradise Lost, then his nobles, and so on. Since he's been another race though, he is more easily able to control himself than the other devils.

I am probably missing something, but that's what I could think of at the moment. Does that make sense? Any other questions or asks? Sorry, I love omegaverse. It's one of my comfort genres. I'm just weird about it.

Given how “unique” a Miku concert would be I’m surprised Crypton themselves didn’t send some team members or equipment personally to make sure things are set up right bc other than some performers that might hide their face/wear disguises idk how many usual concert locations have something prepped for “holo” projections compared to Japan and their Vtuber boom (although I’d rather buy a plushie from a booth but hopefully at least the theatres would have good sound quality)

Sucks for any workers scrambling and getting hate/hope it doesn’t affect the sales of any other indie ppl performing their concerts

The weird thing is it worked before. I went to miku Expo 2018 in cologne and 2020 in Berlin. Both times it was an actual hologram concert with the same band as magical Mirai. Neither of these two locations had a concert like this before, I'm pretty sure. All of the equipment must've been toured around with thew Miku Expo crew. Going against advertising and expectations (basically all of these concerts, and like all of them in recent years were holographic) without notifying buyers beforehand and also not even afterwards when people keep asking is, to put it lightly, customer unfriendly at best and a scam at worst.

I arrived a bit late in 2018 since I only had standard so I don't know how it was there, but in 2020 people went around giving out free stickers and badges, or general stuff they got from other miku events. One of them seemed to be a huge meiko fan so when she gifted me something I gave her the meiko badge I got from the random gacha button bags. Stuff like that really made it feel like a community coming together, so reading that giving out badges, stickers, etc. wasn't allowed this year, even for people who specifically got an okay from cfm and also got their stuff stolen from is surreal.

I had vip in 2020 and as far as I know everyone got their vip merchandise, which doesn't seem to be the case this year, which makes no sense because you would know how many people at this location have the vip ticket. Another thing I read is that vip ticket holders were supposed to be let in earlier for merchandise and the concert hall but it didn't happen, which also worked flawlessly before in my experience.

Merchandise being not enough for everyone is sadly not new, I was in line for it in 2018 and when I was three people away the store people shouted they were all sold out, which was very much a bummer but I thankfully bought the penlight and t-shirt beforehand in the online store so it wasn't too bad for me and as I said I was quite late to the so definitely in the latter half of the people that got in. Still should've been more but I would chalk it up to being the first concert in Europe and them not having expected such a huge crowd maybe. How this is still the case 6 years later and in America where there were concerts way before 2018 is beyond me.

I don't know if this is because of crunchyroll (it probably is tho) but I can't say cfm is innocent either since they partnered with them and it's their job to ensure everything is up to standard, which clearly didn't happen.

For me, I was really happy to hear there was going to be a Europe one again, especially since I really loved it, it is such a magical experience so the last year's being online only made me super sad since it isn't the same in the slightest, but seeing it's also partnered with crunchyroll I decided against it. It's because I loved it so much that it really saddens me to see what is currently going on (also probably why I wrote so much, very sorry). Miku Expo is one of the best, magical and insane events you can go to as a vocaloid/piaproloid fan and I wish for all fans, people who've been in the Fandom longer and already have been to Miku Expo, and newer fans that didn't have the chance yet, to have that same experience but this is not it. This being someone's first miku expo experience is just a sad thing to think about considering what a massive downgrade the experience is. I hope there will be official statements soon and that the people who are currently experiencing it still have a good time.

His body is still there, yep, and I plan on this being one of the plot points because technically Spider is still in his body---the avatar up and walking is just a glitchy memory-holder which I thought would lead to an interesting question: where is the line between oneself? Is he even still Spider, in this case? This is something that Neteyam especially will be conflicted by.

The exact details of how he got hurt are something I've been playing with. For now I think having him take the bullet for Neteyam might be fun to play with, but who's to say. I'm willing to hear any suggestions you may have on the matter!

The Sullies are in Awa'atlu when Spider is first on the mend and getting used to his avatar body. The scene I gave you was when they're finally in the clear to come and see him at High Camp.

I didn't add in all of their reactions because I didn't want to get carried away, but you are very close to how I imagined I'd write Jake and Tuk's reactions lol. I plan on putting the elements you mentioned with Neytiri in there for sure though and you're correct Spider is going entirely off of what feels right so that'll be fun.

Another thing to note: one of the main points I have written down right now is that this avatar body is so fresh that everything is new and feels almost overwhelming in some cases. Pair that with his limited memory and you get some potent muscle-memory/instinct type shit going on, almost like how a newborn creature is just going off of what it feels. For example, the first thing he thinks when he wakes up in his avatar body is Neteyam, and this is quickly followed by a deep longing and it just starts to plague him because he doesn't know what it means but he knows he needs this "Neteyam" whoever he is (and he knows Neteyam is a person, he can feel it. It comes to him in broken images: a blurry face, a melodic laugh, "I see you, Spider.") Am I explaining this well? I feel like I'm making about zero sense lol but whatever you'll get what I mean eventually if you don't now.

-Wow, that is very dark. There's a great opportunity for an examination of what makes one truly themselves. I think the Na'vi would be more understanding at first than the scientists, due in part to all energy being borrowed in their philosophy. They can visit the dead in memories when they are with Eywa, and that's almost like what Spider is. It just is a question as to if that makes him dead or not, kind of. I also wonder, does that mean they expect him to wake up, or will they try to transfer him into his Avatar body permanently once they think he's strong enough? Probably not questions for you to answer, spoilers lol.

-Hmm, well, the bullet is always good, because I've been saying (I don't remember if it was in dms or a public post) that I've yet to see a fic where Spider takes the bullet and I get to the see the direct fallout from that. I think the effect it would have on his and Neytiri's relationship would be fairly immediate. It would also drastically change the ship standoff, and I'm curious as to people's takes on that. He could also always just pass out from blood loss and then when Norm and Max arrive they notice the brain damage from the machine, and that is what makes them put him in a coma, because he isn't stable.

-Ooh, very interesting. I'm sHOCKED the Sully kids let that fucker out of their sight for a second. Kiri and Lo'ak attempt to sneak out with Payakan to go back to High Camp literally every night, Jake has to sleep basically on top them. He'd never suspect that NETEYAM is also a flight risk, the biggest of them all.

-Haha, no, I understand! Well, even if he can't remember much of before, he's never felt his mating bond before in a Na'vi body. The feelings are stronger and different, and he doesn't have the past knowledge to try to repress or ignore them. He just knows what he wants and what he needs.

Sorry to bother you again- You're just the only person I know of who has Draxum knowledge I can ask stuff to (also you're just fun to talk to) I've run into a problem where I can't quite figure out how pre-reformation-Draxum would actually treat one of his creations if he got to keep one. A lot of people immediately assume he would have been horribly abusive, but based on how he treats the goyles, I don't think he'd be as abusive as everyone seems to think. I'm asking, because I keep trying to write flashback scenes/backstory for my OC, but whenever I do, it doesn't feel right to write him as entirely uncaring about his creation. Originally, what it was going to be was that; Since mutating the turtles didn't work out because of Lou Jitsu as a variable, he uses himself as the supplier of DNA to mutate with instead. He sends his perfectly capable henchgoyles to go find him a formidable animal he can mutate into the perfect warrior. However, what they end up bringing him is an abandoned newborn kitten. (Likely because they couldn't get their hands on anything more dangerous, or they legitimately thought an alley cat would work) The developing problem is that the kitten had gotten sick soon after birth, and the mother didn't want the illness to spread to the other kittens, so she was left behind. As a result, Abby (the kitten) was already very weak when the goyles got her. Post-mutation, Abby's body couldn't handle the stress, and her heart stopped. Tiny CPR happens, Abby's revived, and life carries on. The goyles mostly raise her- the issue is, because Draxum's not exactly easy on her, he pushes her past her limits, and when she fails, she gets hit (either because abusive, or because it's him she's sparring against) one way or another, her tail either gets pulled /hard/, or she gets it stuck somewhere and ends up trying to pull it free, resulting in it getting broken. The incident gives her spinal/nerve damage, and half her tail ends up needing to be amputated. So now not only does she have problems maintaining her balance, but back pain, and temporary paralysis in her legs if she pushes herself too hard. At this point, Draxum gives up on her. He turns his attention to oozesquitos, and though he still tries on occasion to build up her strength, he still views her as a failure for not being able to work through her problems (without, yk, physical therapy- but Draxum doesn't have time for that) What I'm stuck on is that- The whole reason she ends up not being around for the series is because when the turtles destroyed his lab again, Draxum either assumed she was dead, or intentionally left her behind to die because she was of no use to him. Therefore, the next time she sees him after the events of the finale, she only knows him as the villain that created her and left her to die. She has no sense of self worth, or what real love feels like- because she was raised to be a weapon, and since she failed at that, she's nothing.

BUT THE MORE I TRY AND WRITE IT LIKE THIS, THE MORE IT FEELS OUT-OF-CHARACTER FOR DRAXUM!!! The idea was that- deep down, he did care for her- But he didn't let himself show her any real affection because he knew it would only make her soft. His topmost priority was preventing the prophecy from coming true, and he needed a weapon against the humans to do it. He didn't have time to be a parent. He didn't even know how. If she couldn't fulfill her purpose, he was a failure, and she was his failed experiment. He didn't have any use for her, so he left her behind. (I mean, he was fully willing to off his other creations if they didn't want to join him, so why not her?) He never realized how horribly he'd messed up his own child until after his reformation, and by then he'd believed she was dead, and it was too late to make up for it.

Long rant short, do you think the way I have villain-Draxum act in the story works? Something about it doesn't feel right to me, but I'm hesitant to change things, because that leads to a lot of plot holes in the backstory, which I would then need to rewrite- and as a result, rewrite their entire dynamic, and any interactions in other fics.

Lol this actually kinda reminded me of my separated AU that I’m working on (gonna post the stories to AO3 once I’m finished with Hide and Seek). In it, Draxum raises Donnie as his son/protégé and is not very nice about it… it’s a whole thing.

Ok but to answer your question…

I think that Draxum’s affection levels for whoever he raises would depend on when he found them. You’re right, he isn’t a complete monster (we see him be… semi-decent around Huginn and Muninn), but I think he only gets like that after years of coming to grips with his disappointment and failure with the turts and Lou Jitsu. If he were to find the turtles again when they were maybe toddlers or kids, he might be more caring for them. He may grow attached to them as more than experiments, he’d truly appreciate them — because he knew what it was like to lose them.

And I’ve seen some Separated AU’s where he raises Mikey, and in most of those universes he ends up pretty compassionate and charming, mostly due to Mikey’s influence over the years. Though, I am reading some fics where that was not the case…

But, for your character’s story, I think that how you’ve described it is pretty accurate. If you want to show him more caring, maybe he’d be concerned about keeping her safe, so she’d be like a Rapunzel — overprotected and never allowed to leave him… for her own safety. OR he’d want her to be able to defend herself, so he would push her to her limits. And then, after his reformation arc, he would try to make amends with her.

But really, in the end, it’s up to you! You can decide what choices Drax makes, but you need to show WHY he chooses that. He is always capable of change, but you’ve gotta show what drives him to that change. Maybe, seeing a frail life die and barely make it back shakes him. He can’t afford losing another project like this… so he decides to give her his full attention, raise her himself rather than have his gargoyles look after her. And she starts to get better, as he spends his nights watching over her in case she has a relapse. And then, as years pass, seeing how she grows slowly makes him swell with pride… she’s come such a long way from being a mangy kitten in the rain… and suddenly, he sees her as less of a science project and more of a pupil. Maybe as she gets older, he starts getting nervous when she gets hurt because for some odd reason, he feels her pain. He cries when she does. He comforts her when she has a nightmare. He unintentionally memorizes her favourite food and her favourite colour and… starts seeing her less as a student and as… an heir? A protégé? Someone he trusts. Someone he cares for. Little by little, they grow closer. And closer. Until one day he looks at her and realizes that he hasn’t even thought about attacking humankind in years. He’s only thought of what schools she’d get into, what dress she’ll wear to Big Mama’s gala, her hobbies and interests, the fear of what will happen when she reaches the dreaded dating age, etc. She isn’t a weapon, or an experiment, or a student, or even a successor. She’s his own precious daughter.

In conclusion, everything is possible for your characters, but the real issue is finding a way to make it believable.

(On a completely separate note, I’m kind of interested to see how your character Abby would react to Mikey and the others… would she resent them, or hate them? In her eyes, would they be the “better version” of her, what she was supposed to be, but failed to become? And not only that, but they took her only family away from her?! He was her father — a terrible dad, sure, but hers!! Would she feel threatened by them? Or would she feel like maybe she’d finally found someone with common ground and understanding?

It had been a long day. You’re tired. Your back aches and with each step you take, your knees creak and pop, sending pain through your entire body. You grit your teeth, hold onto your rosary tighter, and keep moving. As the lead exorcist of your region’s convent, it was your duty (and pleasure) to travel wherever you were called to and execute demons who were terrorizing, possessing, or otherwise harming the public.

It was endless work.

It was grueling work.

You loved it.

At last, you make it to your destination for the evening; a small village surrounded by a stone fence. As you walk through the gate, you take note of the absence of any trace of human life. Trash lays on the cobblestone roads, hens run freely, and a cat absently stares at you as you pass by. You walk to the center of the village. Wooden doors creak back and forth from the gentle breeze that rustles your habit. No one is in sight. You take it upon yourself to start investigating.

You had been called to this town just a day before by a traveler who’d heard of your expertise. He had stopped you four towns away and begged, on his hands and knees, for you to slay the demons plaguing his village. Of course, you’d accepted his pleas. You prayed for both his and your safety over a light meal, went your separate ways, and you awoke bright and early in the morning to make your journey.

When he was explaining the troubles his village was experiencing, you had assumed that the demonic infestation was light, or maybe even carried out by a singular demon; judging by the lack of families or even loners, let alone a priest tending to the local church, you now suspected that the demonic activity was a prolonged ordeal. You also suspected a strong, aged demon to be at the root of the infestation.

A cursory sweep of the village confirmed your suspicions; you are alone. You stand on the steps of the local church and review your notes. Aside from the few hens and single cat, animals seemed to have disappeared from the village as well. Curiously, you can’t identify any traces of demons or demonic activity; pentagrams are nowhere to be found, and without another human soul in the vicinity, you can’t diagnose a possession.

The sun begins to set. You look out at the village one last time before entering the church and closing the doors behind you. You discard your small bag and unpack it, setting up a space to eat, pray, and sleep within the sanctuary. You eat a small portion of bread, read the bible by candlelight, and hold your rosary to pray. Then, you sleep.

Later on, deep in the night, a booming voice startles you awake. You shoot up, scrambling to wrap yourself with your thin blanket. You look around anxiously, your heart beating and vision impaired. Finally, you spot the source of the voice; a thin man sits in the first row of pews within the nave. 

“Who are you?” You announce, projecting your voice with the authority your position provides you. “I’m Sister ______, lead exorcist of my convent. I’m sure you can gather my reason for being here.”

“I know who you are,” he tells you, staying still in his spot.

You wait for him to continue. He doesn’t. “How?”

“Oh, I’ve been watching you for weeks now,” he purrs, draping his arms against the back of the pew. “When I saw you, and what you were capable of…” he trails off and chuckles darkly, leaving you in suspense for a moment before he continues. “I just had to have you.”

“Explain yourself,” you demand, rising to stand. The blanket you used to cover yourself falls to the floor, leaving you in your night clothes; a nightgown and a thick pair of socks. Your habit, along with your rosary and the cross usually worn around your neck, sit in a neatly folded pile on the floor next to you. 

He laughs again. “What’s left to explain, Sister?” he teases, rising to stand. He’s still obscured by the lack of light within the church, but he’s incredibly tall. You watch his long hair move and fall behind his back. “You’re the region’s most accomplished exorcist… a nun with an impressive kill count. You’ve slayed almost 80 demons now, isn’t that right?”

You swallow the uneasiness slowly building in your stomach and stand your ground, raising your chin higher to maintain your posture. “Yes. Why does that concern you?”

“I wouldn’t call it a concern. It’s more of an interest,” he tells you.

“Are you seeking an apprenticeship?”

He laughs, loudly, and his voice echoes harshly off the walls of the sanctuary, causing you to flinch. “Hardly. I told you already. I have to have you.”

“Are you drunk? Surely, you know nuns are sworn to chastity,” you chastise him, annoyed and embarrassed at his forwardness. “Leave this church at once. Let me rest for the work I must complete tomorrow. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll leave his demon infested town for good.”

He laughs again. “Oh, Sister…” he begins to walk up the stairs to the sanctuary. You take a few steps back, distancing yourself from him. As he becomes more visible, you make out a pair of horns protruding from his head. “I’m not leaving without you.” Your heart drops and you feel the warmth drain from your face. A demon. He’d caught you completely off guard- without your weapons or even a cross to defend yourself. His pointed tail flicks back and forth as he approaches you. You pick up your speed and continue to step back, until you roughly bump into the altar. He’s on you in a flash, pinning you to it with both hands. His touch feels like fire. 

“And just like that, the mighty exorcist is pinned below the lowly demon,” he whispers, staring you down with deep red eyes. “How were you able to kill so many of my kind? Isolating and neutralizing you was child’s play.” Your breath hitches as he leans closer to your face. You can feel his hot breath against your skin. “I guess I was always better than the rest at seducing virgins.”

You spit in his face at the accusation, still determined to defend your commitment to chastity. “I’d hardly call this seduction, you evil beast! Get off of me!” 

He smiles down at you and slowly opens his mouth, releasing a long forked tongue. He flicks it up and easily licks the spit off of his face, then returns to a devious grin. “Don’t worry. You’ll experience the full benefits of my seduction in due time…” He reaches down to brush two fingers across your lips. “For now, you just get to relax.”

Fire overtakes your body. You’re warm- too warm, and you’ve lost complete control of your physical capabilities. You stand, not of your own volition, but as if you were a puppet. You slowly blink at the demon above you, who laughs lightly as he watches you succumb to whatever thrall he’s entranced you with.

Once he’s happy with your level of hypnosis, he releases his grip on your other wrist, and your arms float gently down to your sides. He watches you falter with the same devious grin he had as he leaned above you, eyeing you up and down as he takes a step back to admire his completed work. 

“Sister ______, lead exorcist of her convent, slayer of nearly 80 demons… now relegated to be by my side as my human companion.” He laughs loudly at his own proclamation. Outwardly, you show no response, but inside, your mind reels as you struggle to attempt to move and escape from him. Nothing you do works. No amount of praying or begging to God gives you an edge; you’re stuck like this. 

He takes hold of your hand and begins to lead you down the stairs of the sanctuary and out the doors of the church entirely; you follow along, feeling as if you’re floating on air with each step. What few possessions you have- your habit, rosary, bible, and cross- are left behind in the church. All you can do is watch the demon in front of you as he leads you further and further from the village, into the countryside and away from the world you knew and loved. “My name is Torix- and you belong to me now.”

Hi cris!!! Not a request but I always find weird when people forget how close Mikasa and Armin are. I feel ppl focus too much on Eren/Mikasa or Armin/Eren and forget how much Mikasa loves Armin and vice versa. Not saying that Eren is not important or doesn't love them as much but I think Eren/Mikasa kinda feels like manipulated by the ackerbond.

Yes I also find so weird how many people underestimate Armin and Mikasa's friendship. And it's not really necessary because acknowledging their bond doesn't make Eren/mika or Eren/armin any less important. They are allowed to love each other in different ways and I truly believe Armin and Mikasa have one of the strongest connections.

Armin loves her so much, and not in a romantic sense, he just loves her as a true platonic soulmate, much like Connie and Sasha love one another. And the same goes for Mikasa, that woman loves him so much (she has a freaking loud breakdown when he is essentially dead on season 3). Also, Armin and Mikasa trust each other so much that it's kinda scary. They don't hesitate to follow each other's advice, no questions asked. Like you said, It's not like Eren is not important or less connected, it's just that Armin and Mikasa have a unique link to one another.

And I also understand why you think Eren and Mikasa's connection is quite strange since the ackerbond has a huge influence, but I don't think it's an enslavement situation like Eren said once. Mikasa is capable of being angry and disagreeing with Eren, holding him accountable for things, having feelings of protectiveness for other people. If she was an actual slave of the ackerbond there would be no autonomy altogether. I'm not saying she is completely free from the ackerbond's influence, but she's also not this mind controlled slave.

I find that inside their trio dynamic, Armin and Mikasa had a need for a duo companionship due to Eren's wandering away tendencies (Mikasa does acknowledge that in the manga with the "why is Eren always getting away" line). Also, we can't deny that as much as Eren loved Mikasa and Armin, he was always keeping distance, especially as they grew older, which inevitably made both of them stick together for comfort.

Excuse me marching in here unannounced. I decided to send some asks, and well, I thought that perhaps you might also like these questions. (Feel free to answer in your own time or ignore as your spoons allow. <3)

I know we love to talk about breaking the rules in writing and obviously, that not every piece of advice is one-size-fits all, but there is a lot to say about being able to speak with each other about what we have learned during our journey. I was wondering if you wouldn't share. (I also plan on poking some of the others to see what more we can shake out. The more the merrier, no?)

What is the most useful/helpful pieces of advice you ever received during your formal education in relation to writing?

Once you started to write, what was the most important thing that you learned about writing or its process?

Has your real life had any influence on your writing? If so, how?

What advice would you give to aspiring writers (be it fanfiction or original)?

Thank you so much for the ask Winter! I love sharing these things with fellow writers, it makes me so happy, so this is really welcome. Sorry it took me so long!

1. I don't have a formal education in writing other than academic pieces (dissertations, publications, etc), but I think what helped me is "read things aloud". Both for flow and for style, it was so helpful!

2. I learned to not care. If it sounds good to me, I do it. This may sound like bad practice, but Shakespeare made up words, and every theory was made up by someone at some point. If I want to create a new turn of phrase that sounds strange but makes sense to me, I will. This is where being trilingual helps a lot, because I take from multiple languages and find the beauty in each of their structures, so I can import onto another language, like a graft.

In this scene, for example, I use Spanish structure in English, and I think the result is so intense!

She, in all certainty, lacked the will to perceive them as anything other than the sad attempts they made to rule over sacred wilderness rather than form a covenant with it, as she knew Holy, so she hunted and assembled her shelter and supplies out of those carcasses. Bone, sinew and skin were all she needed to survive the inclemencies of Skyrim’s weather.

3. Absolutely! I don't believe you can make anything without your real life influencing you. Art doesn't occur separately from your life, it's inscribed in it and its circumstances. I always learn new things, go through new experiences, meet new people, etc, or even read new things that inspire me! I have a rich life, and so my writing draws from it and is enriched.

4. Don't listen to anyone who says "don't write in an overly flowery way". If you like it, write like that. Do purple prose, abuse the thesaurus, include obscure references to things that only make sense to you. Look for the perfect word. And READ! A writer who does not read (and I'm talking about strong literature, not just things meant for kids and teens, or in-game text) will stagnate. Include Non-fiction In Your Reading Diet. Or else. Non-fiction is so important. Read writing theory, art theory, epistemology, other sciences. Read! Read! READ!
