Olivia
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harry wrote Olivia for One Direction's Made on the AM which was written and recorded between March - September 2015. Several months after 1989 was completed. Taylor has said she played 1989 for Harry and it's highly likely he was also aware of the Vault Tracks.
From Rolling Stone:
Bunetta and Ryan cite “Olivia” as a defining track, one that captures just how far One Direction had come as songwriters: They’d written it in 45 minutes, after wasting a whole day trying to write something far worse. “When you start as a songwriter, you write a bunch of shitty songs, you get better and you keep getting better,” Ryan says. “But then you can get finicky, and you’re like, ‘Maybe I have to get smart with this lyric.’ By Made in the A.M. … they were coming into their own in the sense of picking up a guitar, messing around, and feeling something, rather than being like, ‘How do I put this puzzle together?’”
Harry also said Olivia 'fell out' when they were trying to write something else to GMA and avoided answering what he was trying to write which may have been Perfect as it took a long time.
youtube
Who is Olivia?
Harry famously answered this "Is Olivia even a person? Is Olivia an emotion? Is she a place? We don't know" Oliva sounds like 'I love ya'
Harry later referenced Olivia in the leaked Ophelia (I feel ya). Harry wrote Ophelia, in Tokyo when she was there for the last Reputation show in November 2018, he also wrote Little Freak at the same time. Ophelia and Olivia are Taylor Swift.
Taylor also has a cat Olivia Bensen, adopted June 2014, Harry can be heard laughing in her adoption video.
Lyrics
[Spoken Intro] [Verse 1: Niall] Remember the day we were giving up When you told me I didn't give you enough And all of your friends were saying I'd be leaving ya? She's lyin' in bed with my t-shirt on Just thinking how I went about it wrong This isn't the stain of a red wine, I'm bleeding love
Harry has referenced Taylor wearing his shirts in a number of songs. She's also wore a few of his shirts.
The Red wine is also a reference to 1989, so we know who he is singing to:
Clean - "You're still all over me like a wine-stained dress I can't wear anymore"
Maroon "The burgundy on my T-shirt when you splashed your wine into me" and
Tumblr media
[Pre-Chorus: Niall] Please, believe me, don't you see the things you mean to me? Oh, I love you, I love you, I love, I love, I love Olivia
I think this is a reference to "Say don't go" a 1989 Vault Track. As Harry and Taylor were dating again through the production, and she has said she played it for him it is likely he knew the lyrics "Make me love you (Make me love you)? / I said, "I love you" (I said, "I love you")/ You say nothing back"
[Chorus: Harry] I live for you, I long for you, Olivia (Ayy, ayy) I've been idolizing the light in your eyes, Olivia (Ayy, ayy) I live for you, I long for you, Olivia Don't let me go, don't let me go
This is almost a direct response to Say don't go's: "Say, "Don't go" / I would stay forever if you say, "Don't go""
[Verse 2: Liam] Say what you're feelin' and say it now 'Cause I got the feelin' you're walkin' out And time is irrelevant when I've not been seeing ya The consequences of falling out That's something I'm having nightmares about And these are the reasons I'm cryin' out to be with ya
Say don't go was asking him to ask her to not leave, In Olivia he did.
[Bridge: Harry] When you go and I'm alone You live in my imagination The summertime, butterflies All belong to your creation I love you, it's all I do, I love you
Harry continued to refer to Taylor as sunshine, butterfly's and all things good:
Golden: "golden as I open my eyes / Hold it, focus, hoping, take me back to the light / I know you were way too bright for me / I'm hopeless, broken, so you wait for me in the sky”
Sunflower Vol 6: "Sunflower / My eyes, want you more than a melody"
Sweet Creature: "Wherever I go, you bring me home / Sweet creature, sweet creature / When I run out of road, you bring me home"
Fine line: “You sunshine, you temptress / My hand's at risk, I fold"
Daylight "If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you / You'd be the spoon / Dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you / Daylight, you got me cursing the daylight (ooh)"
Grapejuice: "Give me something old and Red."
Little Freak "I disrespected you / Jumped in feet first, and I landed too hard / A broken ankle, karma rules"
Happily "I don't care what people say when we're together / You know I wanna be the one to hold you when you sleep / I just want it to be you and I forever"

hi! I love your writing sm. can I req this it's based on a tiktok I saw and thought it'd be cute. so basically y/n singing taylor's new song you're losing me esp the bridge! and matty is concerned like "we're okay right? you've been singing that song with much passion" or something like that! I just really thought it would be cute thank u so much
Ok I decided to turn this one into a proper imagine where the reader is a popular solo artist who misses her rockstar boyfriend and literally sat up until 3am working on it because i loved the idea so fucking much, thank you anon <3
Warnings: Angst and sadness but happy ending I promise
You're Losing Me
Y/n Y/l/n was sitting alone in her dressing room cross legged on a battered sofa. She had just received a message from her friend George to inform her that The 1975 had performed their last show of their tour and were flying back to London the very next morning. He also dropped in that Matty was excited to see her again and couldn't wait to get home. She hadn't bothered to respond. Why couldn't Matty have told her that himself? Her heart sank on remembering that although Matty was finishing his tour, she was just beginning hers. She would spend one night with him in their shared house before flying to the USA and wouldn't return for several weeks. Y/n felt empty, as she had since Matty left. She looked up to realise that she wasn't alone at all; in fact the dressing room was full of people refilling her water bottles, fixing the order of her costumes for quick changes, ensuring the setlist was right. But still, the crushing loneliness got to her. She doubted that it would be remedied in twenty minutes when the crowd of 15,000 people were screaming her name. She was right.
--------------------
Exactly 24 hours later, Y/n lay in her boyfriend's arms, thrilled to have him home but heart not feeling any lighter. She could feel them pulling apart from each other, the demanding schedules their careers presented them with tearing apart the best relationship either of them had ever been in. Even as Matty stroked her hair and pressed soft kisses to her forehead, she was fighting to keep a smile on her face. She wanted to burst into tears and tell him she needed him. She needed to be with him all the time, not just sometimes. She needed to fall into his arms the second she came offstage. She needed to feel as though their relationship wasn't a liability. When Y/n left Matty in bed to use the bathroom, he started to scroll Twitter and look for videos of his girl's first show of her tour. He came across one that already had thousands upon thousands of views. It was captioned "Y/n Y/l/n cover Taylor Swift's "You're Losing Me" at her London show last night". He clicked and started watching. His girlfriend sounded angelic as usual, but he didn't feel like he was watching a video of her usual happy, performance-loving self. The girl on his screen was breaking from the inside out. The passion she was singing with was gave her the image of someone who undeniably related to what she was singing. She wasn't just covering a popular song. He could tell she meant it. He listened closely to the lyrics; "And I wouldn't marry me either, a pathological people pleaser", "Do something babe, say something." Matty's heart was in his throat as he realised that there was a reason she had chosen the song. Did she think he didn't love her anymore? Had she been hoping for the next step in their relationship? Was he really losing her?
Y/n re-entered the room to see Matty, phone in hand, with a tear slipping down his cheek. "What's wrong, baby? Aren't you happy to be home?" "Are we ok, Y/n?" Matty whispered. "What? Of course we are. What's brought this on, love?" "The song. Last night. I know you didn't write it but you just sang it with so much passion, I couldn't help but feel like there's something you're not telling me." Y/n looked at his phone and was overcome with guilt. He understood that she had been singing to him. She took Matty's face in her hands and swiped away a tear gently with her thumb. "I'm sorry, Matty. But I just felt like I related to the song so much. I couldn't help but feel like we drifted apart while you were on tour. We were barely speaking by the last few weeks of it. I just needed you here, and honestly I did feel like you were losing me." Matty's sobs didn't stop. "Are you saying you want to break up with me because I'm away too much?" "No! Of course not baby, I couldn't imagine breaking up with you for the world. You are all I want in life. I promise. But I just don't know how to do this long distance thing anymore. I need us to be together." "Y/n, darling, I know. I'm dreading tomorrow. In all honestly, I understand why you sang the song. I was drifting away from you. I just couldn't bear to talk to you over the phone. I couldn't even answer a text from you without crying about how much I missed you."
Y/n was crying now too, feeling terrible that she hadn't seen how miserable Matty had been on tour. She stroked his hair as he buried his head in her chest. "It's ok baby, we're gonna be ok." Matty lifted his head to kiss away her tears. "Listen, darling. I'm going to speak to the boys and let them know that I'm not gonna be in the studio for a while. Give me a few days to recover from tour and then I'm gonna fly out and meet you. We'll only be away from each other for another week tops." Y/n tackled him into a hug. "You're really coming on tour with me?" "Yes, darling, really. I'm sorry I even considered going back to the studio instead of coming with you. I've just felt so pressured into releasing new music recently. But everyone else can just wait for me and my girl."
Y/n and Matty lay in each other's embrace once more, and as she was drifting off to sleep, she heard him whisper, "I promise I'll never let you feel like you're losing me again."

Hi! I noticed that someone mentioned the fact that taylor is doing/ saying about Olivia what lana said about billie just to keep her close in the industrial competition and could't be more true. I mean, since ldr released her first album, taylor suddenly and gradually changed her music too and now even wants to do a rock album to be more "experimental" with her music, something that lana also stated about her last album last year. Whst bothers me is that no one talks more about it. About the enumerations in miss swift's song like cardigan copied by lana in many of her songs, especially old money, cherry or off to the races.
Everyone praises taylor's unique talent and writing skills but how can't they notice the many similarities between her new lyrics and lana del rey's about darkness, drunkness, gold, lucky ones, americana, literature references, not to mention the vault ones are a shameless ripped off from her work with pink flamingo's, dresses, aquamarine etc. I strongly believe she was listening obsesivly to honeymoon in that period of time to capture that essence when she wrote them just the way she did for 1989 with born to die at that time. Idk it seems fake to me and sad that lana never sued her for wildest dreams and I knew you were trouble just the way she did with poor Olivia, cause lana would have more to complain about plagiarism than a stupid scream.
Anyway, the point is her lyrics were not so deep and intelectual before she started to copy paste lana, so. Also, not full of color metaphors and that ultraviolence heavy metal rage. I mean let's take a look at the I don't know about you but I'm feelin 22 to the puke of words maroon or the great war is. To me, its obvious, but the most annoying ones are the vault tracks she claims she wrote years ago, when kts clear that they are slow and lyrically and sonically taken from lana. Even the slut one sounds exactly like the bridge of about love from marina and the diamonds but nooo, swift is a genius

Love Story
Written By: Taylor Swift
Artist: Taylor Swift
Released: 2008 (re-recorded 2021)
Alternate version included: 1989 World Tour pop version, 2015
Taylor was inspired to write “Love Story” when she was going through a difficult situation with a boy she liked, whom she wasn’t “officially” dating. She chose to portray the story of Romeo and Juliet in the song, because she felt like she could relate. The lyrics talk about disapproval against the relationship, and her desire to go somewhere far away with him, and escape the people who look down on them. “Love Story” peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, and at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, just weeks after its release. The song’s music video was described as timeless, by Swift. The video won the CMT Music Awards for “Video of the Year,” as well as “Female Video of the Year.” In February 2021, “Love Story” became the first official re-release from Taylor’s back catalog following contractual disputes with Scooter Braun. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career as she sought autonomy and freedom from what she perceived as a manipulative business relationship.
[Verse 1] We were both young when I first saw you I close my eyes and the flashback starts I'm standing there On a balcony in summer air See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns See you make your way through the crowd And say, "Hello" Little did I know [Pre-Chorus] That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" And I was crying on the staircase Begging you, "Please don't go," and I said [Chorus] Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" [Verse 2] So I sneak out to the garden to see you We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew So close your eyes Escape this town for a little while, oh, oh [Pre-Chorus] 'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" But you were everything to me I was begging you, "Please don't go," and I said [Chorus] Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel This love is difficult, but it's real Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes" [Post-Chorus] Oh, oh [Bridge] And I got tired of waiting Wondering if you were ever coming around My faith in you was fading When I met you on the outskirts of town [Chorus] And I said, "Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone I keep waiting for you, but you never come Is this in my head? I don't know what to think" He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring, and said "Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone I love you and that's all I really know I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes'" [Outro] Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh 'Cause we were both young when I first saw you

I Was Born to Love You
Written By: Freddie Mercury
Artist: Freddie Mercury
Released: 1985
Cover included: Queen, 1995
“I Was Born to Love You” is a 1985 song by Freddie Mercury, and was released as a single and on the Mr. Bad Guy album. After Mercury’s death, Queen re-worked this song for their album Made in Heaven in 1995, by having the other members play their instrumental parts over the original track transforming the song from a disco song to a rock song. The Queen version from the Made in Heaven album also includes samples of Mercury’s ad-lib vocals taken from “A Kind of Magic” and from “Living On My Own”.
[Chorus Intro] An amazing feeling coming through I was born to love you With every single beat of my heart Yes, I was born to take care of you Every single day of my life [Verse 1] You are the one for me, I am the man for you You were made for me, you're my ecstasy If I was given every opportunity I'd kill for your love, hey So take a chance with me, let me romance with you I'm caught in a dream, and my dream's come true (It's) so hard to believe this is happening to me An amazing feeling coming through [Chorus] I was born to love you With every single beat of my heart, yeah I was born to take care of you, huh Every single day of my life [Verse 2] I wanna love you, I love every little thing about you I wanna love you, love you, love you (Born) to love you, (born) to love you, yes (born) I was born to love you (Born) to love you, (born) to love you every single day of my life I was born to take care of you every single day of my life [Instrumental Break] [Bridge] My life! Hey hey! Every single day of my life [Chorus] I was born to love you With every single beat of my heart Yeah, I was born to take care of you, honey Every single day of my life

My top 13 Taylor songs and why
If you do look through all of this id love to know what you think!
Tumblr media
13. Welcome To New York
it's no surprise that I absolutely ADORE 1989 and WTNY is an amazing opening track for the album! I have always had an attachment to this song and it's a go to hype song you just can't not be happy listening to this song! also being bi I love the "you can love who you love boys and boys and girls and girls" line!!
12. illicit affairs
now don't attack me but folklore is not an album I love but for some reason illicit affairs has always had a soft spot in my heart since the album came out! I think this is one of the BEST showcases of her songwriting abilities it is like an elevated version of August and I love it! ive personally never been the other person in a relationship but Taylor does such a good job at detailing and walking you through a story of being another woman to someone you love! AND THE BRIDGE??? ICONIC!!!
11. Midnight Rain
I am a sucker for vocoder so i have been and still am obsessed with how the chorus is done on this album! there aren't many songs out there about being the one to do the breaking up with but Taylor has 2 and I love both this and back to december but this one just barely beat it out! I love her looking back on a love she may have regretted but in the end they both got what they wanted she got a big name and he got a family!
10. New Romantics
hey look another 1989 song! (and not the last) the production, the lyrics, the vocal effects, the adlibs, the vocals everything about this song is pure pop perfection! this song reminds me of Halsey's new Americana of how it's a song about just embracing everything about yourself and the people around you! and come on tell me "heartbreak is the national anthem and we sing it proudly" doesn't describe most swifties
Tumblr media
9. Christmases When You Were Mine
an underrated MASTERPIECE by Ms Taylor Alison Swift! i fully believe if this song was on an album and not just the Christmas ep it would get so much more love cause she deserves it!! im the kind of person that loves a good sad Christmas song (my fav being Christmas makes me cry by Kacey Musgraves) and this one never fails to make me cry! the song perfectly describes the feelings of the first Christmas away from your ex and how off the happiest time of year can be
Tumblr media
8. False God
now on the complete opposite spectrum of that we have one of the few times Taylor was feeling spicy! I love all of her songs like this dress, I think he knows, cruel summer are all bangers but this one is just another level! the way this song perfectly blends jazz, r&b, and pop into a soft sultry song about a love so good you worship it like a false god! I also think this song does such a good job of showing a rollercoaster relationship but in the end you're still there for each other! the line "I know heaven's a thing I go there when you touch me, honey hell is when I fight with you" is just perfect
Tumblr media
7. Our Song
our song is just THE country Taylor song! I don't really have anything deep to say about this one lol it's just a fun catchy song that if you don't like it there is something seriously wrong with you!
Tumblr media
6. Coney Island ft. The National
now I'll be honest I still don't completely understand what this song is about but ill say kinda what I believe it is! I've always thought of this song as being about the guy dies leaving coney island so this place holds a spot in the girls heart and the national plays the guy in his final moments and all he can think about is her in coney island before he left.
Tumblr media
5. All You Had To Do Was Stay
THE BEST TRACK 5 FIGHT ME!! also this isn't the last 1989 song on this list 💀 this song to me is a perfect showcase of her songwriting abilities and ability to make a catchy af pop song! this to me is one of those sad lyrics and happy production songs being about her taking to an ex that wants her back and saying you know all you had to do was stay and that she's the kind of person that once you leave you leave!
4. Love Story (Taylor's Version)
if this song is not in your top you're lying to yourself! i don't even know what to say about this song that hasn't been said a billion times! it's lyrics, the production, THE MUSIC VIDEO! everything is top tier when it comes to this song and it's popular for a reason! the Taylor's version is literally my most streamed song by any artist 💀
Tumblr media
3. New Years Day
this is a beautiful love song and a perfect closer for the reputation album! and her performance of this song on Jimmy Fallon is like ingrained in my head permanently! it is such a beautiful metaphor of I'll be here for the party and all the glam in your life but I'll still be there for the ugly and the clean up after aka new years day!
Tumblr media
2. How You Get The Girl
this song kinda reminds of her country style of writing cause it very much still follows the repeating chorus but the verses build on each other to keep telling this story of Taylor telling this guy exactly how to get her back! I think this song is an interesting contrast to ayhtdws where there she said once you leave you're gone so maybe whoever this song about is someone she'd be willing to take 2nd chance on if he did it right!
Tumblr media
1. Tied Together With A Smile
not to be emotional but this song got me through so much in middle school and high school cause I had to be the "therapy friend" the one who always had a smile on my face and this song helped remind me that yk it's ok to come undone let others know your problems! listening to it also makes me feel like someone understands what I'm going through and is like patting me on the back saying it's gonna be ok!
Tumblr media
I hope you enjoyed this thread I had fun going through and thinking about all my favorite Taylor songs!!

hi i'd love to know your ted lasso character and taylor swift song thoughts very much
OK WELL.
Firstly- Long Live. Is the song of the club. It just is. I mean just. Go look at all the lyrics but. I said remember this moment/ In the back of my mind/The time we stood with our shaking hands / The crowds in stands went wild/We were the kings and the queens/And they read off our names/The night you danced like you knew our lives/Would never be the same/You held your head like a hero/On a history book page/It was the end of a decade/But the start of an age TELL ME I’M WRONG.
Ted? The Archer. I wake in the night, I pace like a ghost/The room is on fire, invisible smoke/And all of my heroes die all alone/Help me hold onto you/I’ve been the archer/I’ve been the prey/Screaming, who could ever leave me, darling?/But who could stay? And Also 'Cause they see right through me/They see right through me/They see right through/Can you see right through me?/They see right through/They see right through me/I see right through me/I see right through me This is THEE anxiety song. That entire goddamn bridge feels like the buildup to the panic attack.
He is also Mirrorball. Specifically the bridge. And they called off the circus/Burned the disco down/When they sent home the horses/And the rodeo clowns/I’m still on that tightrope/I’m still trying everything to get you laughing at me/I’m still a believer but I don't know why/I’ve never been a natural/All I do is try, try, try/I’m still on that trapeze/I’m still trying everything/To keep you looking at me
Jamie, arguably. Could also be The Archer.
Season 1 Rebecca is Mad Woman- I'm takin' my time/Takin' my time/'Cause you took everything from me/Watchin' you climb/Watchin' you climb/Over people like me/The master of spin/Has a couple side flings/Good wives always know/She should be mad/Should be scathing like me/But no one likes a mad woman/What a shame she went mad/You made her like that And Vigilante Shit. Specifically when she teams up with Bex and Ms. Kakes to expose Rupert… She needed cold hard proof so I gave her some/She had the envelope, where you think she got it from?/Now she gets the house, gets the kids, gets the pride/Picture me thick as thieves with your ex-wife/And she looks so pretty/Driving in your Benz/Lately she's been dressing for revenge ALSO THIS VERY SPECIFIC PART OF DEAR JOHN: But I took your matches before fire could catch me/So don't look now/I’m shining like fireworks over your sad empty town
Keeley Jones is Bejeweled personified. Like: Baby love, I think I've been a little too kind/Didn't notice you walking all over my peace of mind/In the shoes I gave you as a present/Puttin' someone first only works when you're in their top five/And by the way, I'm going out tonight/Best believe I'm still bejeweled/When I walk in the room/I can still make the whole place shimmer… Just. Listen to the whole song for the real effect. You must.
I will also add: The Story of Us, re: all her relationships basically. Oh, I'm scared to see the ending/Why are we pretending this is nothing?/I’d tell you I miss you but I don't know how/I’ve never heard silence quite this loud/Now I'm standing alone in a crowded room/And we're not speaking and I'm dying to know/Is it killing you like it's killing me? Yeah/ I don't know what to say since the twist of fate/When it all broke down/And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now. Again. The whole song is just. It really fits, imo.
Um.... I'm going to end it there and tag you in another post for the rest of it. because. This is getting obscenely long. Thank you for indulging me.

The bad batch but as Midnights song
So here is something absolutely no one asked for but here is what songs i think the batchers are on Midnights by Taylor Swift based on lyrics and vibes
Lavender haze - Omega
“All this shit is new to me”
Tell me this song is not her, I dare you. The beat, the vibes and everything about it
Maroon - Echo
“The lips i used to call home”
This has no real logical explanation besides from a fanfic I made up in my head about being echo’s S/O and them loosing him because of the citadel and them missing him and then getting him and the lips they used to call home back again. And then also recalling memories of spilling wine on each other
Anti-hero - Crosshair
How could I not? He is the anti hero of the batch if they ever had one.
However I dont think he is the problem, Its not his fault and to me he is still perfect.
“I wake up from dreaming one day i’ll watch as your leaving”
“I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror”
And for the crosshair girls: “it must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero”
Snow on the beach - Echo
Because sadly, man has insecurities
“You wanting me tonight feels impossible”
Also: “life is emotionally abusive” cause MAN HAS BEEN THROUGH IT
You’re on your own kid - Omega
This one is tough because well it could fit them all BUT I think it fits omega the most because well, She is the only kid and the only one of them that had ever gotten to feel like a kid
“Cause there were pages turned
With the bridges burned
Everything you lose is a step you take
So make the frienship bracelets
Take the moment and take it
You’ve Got no reason to be afraid”
Midnight rain - Crosshair
“I wanted that pain” enough said
Question… ? - Tech
Simply for the line: “i just may like some explanations”
I also feel like Tech would be one to day “thats nice, im sure that’s what’s suitable”
And just in general man would ask many questions
Vigilante shit - Crosshair
Okay so man seems like the type to get revenge when he has been wronged so this is just perfection for him
“Dont get sad, get even”
“Lately i’ve been dressing for revenge”
Bejewled - Wrecker
Simply for the vibes
Lanyrinth - Hunter
Hunter again because this line:
“You know how much i hate that everybody just expects me to bounce back”
Bonus!
Wrecker in this one specific line:
“You know how scared I am of elevators” from that one scene during clone wars where he is scared to get on the escalator and asks how far up they are going.
Sweet nothing - Echo
Seems like a sweet nothing type of guy
“ you’re in the kitchen humming’ he is a humming in the kitchen type of person and he also doesnt want anything from his partner except for their pressence and time
Mastermind - Tech
Man is a mastermind and man would make a very detailed plan to get you to fall in love with him after doing an insane amount of research so yes, he is the mastermind and i will take no arguments
“To asses the equation of you”
“I laid the groundwork and then just like clockwork the dominos cascaded in a line”
“And now you’re mine, it was all by design”
“Cause im a mastermind”
The great war - all of them
They all fought in the clone wars except for Omega but she was still effected.
I honestly cant listen to this without thinking of them
“ flashes of the battle come back to me like a blur”
“It turned into something bigger
Somewhere in the haze, Got a sense i’d been betrayed”
Them when they found out about the chips
Bigger than the whole sky - the whole batch minus tech
The batch after they thought they lost Tech in the season 2 finale. THEY THOUGHT THEY LOST HIM BUT THEY DIDNT CAUSE HE SURVIVED OKAY. HE IS ALIVE AND I REFUSE TO BELIEVE ANYTHING ELSE
“Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
You were bigger than the whole sky”
Paris - Hunter when in love
“I want to brainwash you into loving me forever”
High infedelity - Crosshair
"You know there's many different ways that you can kill the one you love The slowest way is never loving them enough"
i'm just gonna go cry if you'll excuse me
Glitch - Hunter
"i was supposed to sweat you out"
would totally be the type of guy to try and swet someone out
would've, could've, should've - omega
"Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first"
dear reader - the entire batch
"Dear reader If it feels like a trap, you're already in one Dear reader Get out your map, pick somewhere and just run"
enough said
Thank you for your time and i apologise for the Crosshair songs

ok im literally the nicest person ever so i'll only give u two albums to rank : red and fearless (with their vaults),, aka the longest albums she has,, have fun😘💕
ellie i am literally at my wit’s end.
it’s FEARLESS
forever & always - the petty way she says and i don’t feel welcome anymore… this whole song is just chefs kiss and i have a soft spot for it okay (the piano version HITSSS DIFFERENTTT)
tell me why - it’s kinda crazy that i’m putting this song above all the popular ones but i love it so much. the violin in the intro is just so funny to me idk why, it makes me want to burst out laughing. and taylor is just so angsty here?? this one here. my fav (you could write a book on how to ruin someone’s perfect DAAAaaaAAaaAAaaAyy)
the way i loved you - SCREAMING AND FIGHTING AND KISSING IN THE RAIN she is so distressed i adore it. i also associate this song with my old crush but whatever because i want to feel like this again
you belong with me - SOOO ICONIC i scream-sang this with my best friend and it’s so nostalgic. it’s super pick me but every girl had a pick me phase at one point so it’s okay.
love story - a classic. i should get proposed to this song methinks.
jump then fall - idk why but this song hits different guys 🥲
fifteen - I LOVE THIS SONG. i’m so jealous of abigail if my friend wrote a song about my heartbreak i would be over the moon.
fearless - “this song is about the perfect first date i’ve never had.” same girl. i actually cringe whenever i listen to this song because it reminds me of this guy i used to like so. sorry tay.
the best day - once again, taylor swift reminds me that i have daddy issues. i remember on my first listen of this album i couldn’t get through this song and had to skip it… widiwidiekckekncndcjc teared up on this relisten! so!
mr. perfectly fine - ok tbh i have some nostalgia from this song bc last year they were playing this song in a barbershop in taiwan and i was so surprised ??
the other side of the door - back to december’s bratty little sister. jk i actually love the bridge but how many little black dresses does girly have!!
come in with the rain - oooh i love the “talk to… talk to…” lyrics they’re so yummy satisfying (ellie i’m tiredddddd)
that’s when - this song is sweet. every song is sweet but this is different. twosongsleft
superstar - cresswell vibes! is this song about joe jonas
you all over me - ok ngl. the graffiti metaphor was pretty cringe
untouchable - guys. how is this album worse than debut
you’re not sorry - go off i guess!
white horse - taylor, i’m sorry but. this is getting repetitive. why are you always so fucking heartbroken
we were happy - FEARLESS IS MY LEAST FAVORITE ALBUM THIS IS SO BLAND IM BAWLING
don’t you - this song sounds like every song which sounds like every other song on this album the moment this song ends is the moment i forget everything about it
bye bye baby - was joe jonas really that good of a boyfriend. did she have to release this song. did i listen to it in its entirety. who’s to say. i am so ready for red
today was a fairytale - in my honest opinion. this vault song did not need to be released
change - it’s fine. a standard older sister song. she def wrote this after reading a ya novel. not sure how i feel about her christian era but whatever. hallelujah!
breathe - taylor. girly. let’s have a talk for a second: please have one song on this album that doesn’t sound like every other song on this album. okay?
hey stephen - very basic. nothing really stood out to me yk? (should’ve been replaced by mr perfectly fine tbh)
burning RED
begin again - I HAVE SUCH A SOFT SPOT FOR THIS SONG. LIVE FOR YOURSELF. WRITE NEW STORIES. LOOK AT THE FUTURE. YOUR HURT DOES NOT DEFINE YOU!!!!
all too well (10 minute version) - THE SHORT FILM BROKE MEEE
all too well - OUCHH watch her grammys performance it is so emotional
the last time - YESSSS MORALLY COMPLICATED GRAY AREAS MY BESTIEEEE
red - LOSING HIM WAS BLUE LIKE ID NEVER KNOWN MISSING HIM WAS DARK GRAY ALL ALONE FORGETTING HIM WAS LIKE TRYING TO KNOW SOMEBODY YOUVE NEVER METT
holy ground - i love healing. i love getting over it. i love moving on.
treacherous - FORBIDDEN LOVE!!!!
i almost do - THIS HURTS SO MUCH THIS IS JUST THE 1 IN A DIFFERENT FONT
the moment i knew - this song is genuinely so heartbreaking knowing the details of taylor’s twenty first birthday… fuck you j*ke
the lucky one - yk what her vocals are kinda funky on this one but whatever
sad beautiful tragic - at first i was going to rank it lower but then i heard the bridge and 🤭
the very first time - this is such a cute song i cant wait to listen to it when i fall in love
nothing new - THE LUCKY ONE VIBES !!
state of grace - ok idk if it’s just me but this kinda sounds like a modern day christian worship song? in all seriousness i am obsessed with this song. very movie soundtrack esque.
better man - ooh good soup. i love how she kinda has flashbacks in this song like in all too well.
starlight - really adorable!! i love the dreamy vintage aesthetic and the guitar. could totally see a grandma at some retirement home recounting her glory days.
come back… be here - she’s written better yearning songs. this is whatever
run - what is ed doing here!!!
everything has changed - i’m not a big fan of eddie but he wasn’t bad in this. plus the joker and the queen is such an iconic music video.
i knew you were trouble - so dramatic and for what!!! she slayed
forever winter - this is literally winlet from scarlets pov ???
girl at home - she really is a girl’s girl 🫶
we are never getting back together - it sounds too similar to 22 for me.
22 - not one of her best hits but it still slaps
babe - mid.
message in a bottle - nothing about this stood out to me. not my favorite.
stay stay stay - ew. barf. i hate it.
i bet you think about me - the worst taylor swift song yet. why is there a cacophony of harmonica in the chorus.

What Taylor Swift song would you assign your favorite Tudor ladies?
Tumblr media
Ooo yay! I love this question! Ngl I’ve been assigning Taylor songs to Tudor women since I was in middle school, so I’ve had a lot of time to think about this lol.
Catherine of Aragon: middle school me would say Last Kiss (“all that I know is I don’t know how to something you miss”), high school me would say All Too Well (“so casually cruel in the name of being honest”)and adult me would say happiness (“there will be happiness after me, but there was happiness because of me” or “after giving you the best I had, tell me what to give after that?”, my tears ricochet (“ I didn’t have it in myself to go with grace” and “I can go anywhere I want, any where I want, just not home”), hoax (“your faithless loves the only hoax I believe in, don’t want no other shade of blue but you, no other sadness in the world would do”) and tolerate it (“I gave you me temple, my mural, my sky, now I’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life”)
Anne Boleyn: high school me was adamant that Anne’s song was I Knew You Were Trouble. I still agree with that (“and the saddest fear comes creeping in, that you never loved me, or her, or anyone, or anything”????- Anne line for sure) I would also add my tears ricochet to the list (“you had to kill me, but it killed you just the same” crazy on point) I really like Haunted (“you and I walk a fragile line, I have known it all this time, but I never thought I’d live to see it break” also “it’s getting dark and it’s all too quiet and I can’t trust anything now and it’s coming over you likes it’s a all a big mistake”- literally describes the anxiety and fear Anne felt in the last few months of her life) for her as well.
Jane Seymour: Jane is hard because so much of her life in unknown, but I would say Eyes Open (“everybody’s waiting for you to break down, everybody’s watching to see the fall out, even when you’re sleeping, keep your eyes open”) the anxiety she must have felt being married to Henry VIII, especially after he threatened her must have been enormous. I couldn’t imagine it. She had to keep her vigilance up because she would not be safe until she had a son (which she did, but we all know what happens next) Also maybe The Archer? It’s another song about anxiety and the line “I wake in the night, I pace like a ghost, the room is on fire, invisible smoke and all of my heroes die all alone, help me hold on to you” makes me think of her worrying about having a son/ getting the plague/ not pleasing Henry etc.
Anne of Cleves: once again- really hard, not because of her life being unknown, but because her situation was abnormal. She conceded to an annulment, but she didn’t want one. She wanted to be Queen of England and was quite disappointed when Henry chose Catherine Parr over her. Maybe This Love? The other song I’m thinking of is called Long Time Coming and it’s unreleased (“and it was a long time coming, waited half my life just find someone like you, spent a long time finding out love hangs around after you walk out, not knowing it would be a long time going” and “I burned my bridges, had sleepless nights, washed my sins under neon lights and I’m still not over you”) I think The Archer might work for her as well (“help me hold on to you”- Anne wanting to be queen, but watching Henry pull away within weeks). Also not a Taylor song, but I used to doodle her with lyrics from Forget by Marina and the Diamonds. Specifically “I’ve been dancing with the devil, I love that he pretends to care.”
Kathryn Howard: Dear John. No competition. This song could work with any of the men in her life (“dear John, I see it all now that you’re gone, don’t you think I was too young to be messed with? The girl in the dress cried the whole way home”- brutal) She was a baby and Henry, Manox, Culpeper, and Dereham were all grown ass men. Also “all the girls that you’ve run dry, have tires lifeless eyes, cause you burned them out” hits hard thinking about Henry’s first four wives.
Katherine Parr: once again I’m going to bring up The Archer because it’s so perfect for everything. She was the last wife, but she had no way of knowing that. After everything with Stephen Gardiner, I’m sure she lived in fear of Henry turning on her. I would also say Cold As You in relation to how she felt after Henry died (“now that I’m sitting here thinking it through, I’ve never been anywhere cold as you” and “every smile you fake is so condescending counting all the scars you’ve made”) chills.
Mary I: Mad Woman is one that I think of immediately (“now I breathe flames each time I talk, my canons all firing at your yacht, they say move on, but you know I won’t”) it reminds me of how angry she was with her father and Anne Boleyn (Anne being the woman who likes hunting witches in Mary’s mind) Also thinking about “there’s nothing like a mad woman, what a shame she went mad, no one likes a mad woman, you made her like that” as something thought towards Henry when she became queen and the burnings began. Like a “you made me this” kind of thing. I also think Tied Together with a Smile is perfect for teenage/ adult Mary (“ hold on baby you’re losing it, the waters high, you’re jumping into it, letting go and no one knows, that you cry, but you don’t tell anyone, that you might not be the golden one, and you’re tied together with a smile, but you’re coming undone”)
Elizabeth I: I’m going to break down her life and assign different songs for different events because her life was very long and very eventful. So for teenage Elizabeth I could see Dear John as relating to the Seymour incident because she was a child (“all the girls that you’ve run dry have tired lifeless eyes, cause you burned them out, but I took your matches before fire could catch me so don’t look now, I’m shining like fireworks over your sad empty town” also “you are an expert at sorry and keeping lines blurry” and of course “I see it all now that you’re gone, don’t you think I was too young to be messed with? The girl in the dress cried the whole way home”) for life during Edward and Mary’s reigns I could see her with Eyes Open (“even when you’re sleeping-sleeping keep your eyes open”) People watching her to see if she’ll mess up so they could get rid of her. When she first becomes queen I can see Long Live “long live the walls we crashed through, how the kingdom lights shined just for me and you, and long long live that look on your face and bring on all the pretenders one day, we will be remembered”) Towards the end of her life I can see Mad Woman as well. Elizabeth was queen, but she was still a woman and like most women, she began to lose the respect of her court as she aged. Also Nothing New for Elizabeth’s fear of aging (“will you still want me when I’m nothing new?”) and then Long Live again after her death when the Gloriana mythos really began to ramp up. As for her relationship with Dudley I would say Ours is a good song (“and it’s not theirs to speculate if it wrong and your hands are tough, but they are where mine belong in, I’ll fight their doubt and give you faith”) the “them” in question is William Cecil because he did not like Robert and Elizabeth together lol.
Ok so that was a lot longer than I thought it would be. I have a habit of over explaining so I’m sorry for that, but the Tudors and Taylor Swift are my passions so I tend to go off the deep end lol.

So I decided to do a ranking of my favourite Taylor Swift albums. If there is an existing Taylors Version I'm gonna rank that instead of the old version. I am also taking Deluxe songs into consideration. This is just my opinion.
10. Folklore
I can enjoy Folklore and really appreciate it for what it is and lyrically it's probably one of her best albums. But I think I listened to the whole thing like once. There are some songs that I listen to from time to time but I rarely choose to listen to this album as a whole. The style of the songs just isn't my cup of tea.
9. evermore
I prefer the sister album evermore. I really enjoy listening to Willow as well as No body no crime. Especially the last one is so fun to me which probably makes no sense because it's about unaliving someone. But I also learned to appreciate songs like gold rush, champagne problems and tolerate it.
8. Red TV
I just don't listen to the album as a whole a lot. There are songs on this album I really like and I listen to regulary for example Red and I bet you think about me and songs I listen to semi-regulary like I knew you were trouble but I think I enjoy her other albums more.
7. Fearless TV
There was a period of time I didn't listen to the album a lot but the past few weeks I find myself listening to it more and more. Maybe the album will be higher in my rankings in a few weeks.
6. Debut
Objectively speaking her self titled album isn't the best but it's the one that makes me the happiest. Some of the songs on these albums make me want to dance and I don't like to dance but I'm forgetting about it when I listen to it. This album just hits different for me.
5. Speak Now
I enjoy a lot of these songs and it's impressive that she wrote this whole album alone at such a young age (of course excluding If this was a movie which was now moved to Fearless TV). I just have to say I am really excited for the rerecording.
4. Lover
Aesthetically speaking this album won. I am the Lover aesthetic and I am so sad I wasn't a fan during the release. But even if we talk only about the songs it's a really good album in my opinion. I love how many happy songs she put in there. I love Paper Rings, I love London Boy but I also love songs like The Man. And in my opinion Me! doesn't deserve the hate it gets. Maybe it isn't the best lyrically but it's fun, she's happy not everything has to be a lyrical masterpeace to enjoy it.
3. 1989
This is a no skip album. It's fun, I love the lyrics and she sounds amazing on it. Pop perfection. No need to add anything here.
2. Midnights
Midnights was my first release as a Swiftie so maybe I am a bit biased. I feel like nearly everyone can find something on this album they like. You like fun songs? Here listen to Karma. You want something darker? Here listen to vigilante shit. You want something calmer? Try listening to Sweet nothing. You want to cry your heart out? Anti-Hero is right there.
1. reputation
I like two types of songs the most. The angry ones that sometimes involve fantasizing about revenge and beautiful love songs. This album is the best of both worlds to me. We've got these angry songs like LWYMMD or I did something bad but in contrast to that her song Dress, especially the bridge of the song, describes romance in the most beautiful way. reputation got my heart and I am very excited for the rerecordings and vault tracks.

alright bestie
coming at you live to scream, yet again, about taylor swift and wilmon
the entry today? the other side of the door
listen, it's not necessarily the storyline but more the emotion that the song is talking about
like this feeling of pushing someone away because you're angry with them but all you want is for them to fight for you and push back so you have proof that they care
THAT is simon's mentality in s2 before ep4.
like these lyrics specifically make me think of simon:
Tell me why you couldn't see When I left, I wanted you to chase after me, yeah
And I'll scream out the window I can't even look at you I don't need you but I do, I do, I do
I say, "There's nothing you can say To make this right again, I mean it, I mean it" But what I mean is
I said, "Leave", but, baby, all I want is you To stand outside my window, throwin' pebbles Screamin', "I'm in love with you"
like i think it was @grizviser who mentioned that, as much as simon mentioned wanting space from wille all season, the bigger part of him really just wanted wille to fight for him and there's 100% elements of that in this song
that's all
-💜✨
HIII oh my god I have Thoughts about this song
first of all YES that lyric is so simon, you could tell this season how conflicted he was about staying away from wille and also wanting their relationship to work out. honestly I think he was just waiting for wille to finally figure out what he wanted, just like he said in s1ep6, and to show simon he could trust him again.
also I would like to volunteer the bridge being from wille's pov because look at this
"With your face and the beautiful eyes And the conversation with the little white lies And the faded picture of a beautiful night You carried me from your car up the stairs And I broke down crying, was she worth this mess? After everything and that little black dress After everything I must confess, I need you"
literally wille from s1ep4 oh my god and the "little white lies" being wille keeping the fact that it was august, and the "she" being kristina in this case akjsgdhkjgdj

Holy Ground (Taylor's Version)
Tumblr media
Written By: Taylor Swift Produced By: Jeff Bhasker Length: 3:22
HIDDEN MESSAGE IN THE LYRICS: When you came to the show in SD
This song is WIDELY believed to be about Mr. Perfectly Fine. Because he was in fact seen at 2 of her California concerts.
Tumblr media
We also know that Taylor wrote this song in February of 2012 according to the Lover Journals
Tumblr media
[Verse One] I was reminiscing just the other day While having coffee all alone and Lord it took me away Back to a first glance feeling on New York time Back when you fit in my poems like a perfect rhyme
So it's said that Taylor and Joe were together from June 2008 - October 2008. It is said that they first ever met in New York City back in the summer of 2008. So here she is saying that their first glace was on NY time meaning two things; one that they were literally in New York the first time they locked eyes, and two "New York Time" means fast. It means rushed, just like New York. So shes saying it didn't last long. Took of faster than a green light, go Yeah, you skip the conversation when you already know I left a note on the door with a joke we made And that was the first day This part of the song she is letting us know that the relationship started just as quickly as it ended.
[Chorus] And darling, it was good Never looking down And right there where we stood Was Holy Ground I love that here she is just reminiscing on how good they were in that moment. She's looking at it for what it was, not what it became.
[Verse Two] Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress We had this big, wide city all to ourselves We block the noise with the sound of "I need you" And for the first time I had something to lose So here we know that she is happy. She feels joy, I mean she's spinning around in a brand new dress - not just an old one she found in the back of her closet. A brand new dress - she feels like a million bucks. But, that also means that she had something to lose. When you care about someone that much and love them, it's hard when you lose them. And she was aware that she could lose him, and it scared her. I guess we feel apart in the usual way And the story's got dust on every page But sometimes I wonder how you think about it now And I see your face in every crowd This part is soooooo good. So she's saying they broke up. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary. They fell apart like relationships do - the usual way. Someone probably lost interest, or got bored, or found someone new. The story has dust on every page because at this point when this album came out (for the first time) it had been 4 years since her and Joe dated and broke up. So the story is old, but she still wonders about it. And she wants to know if he does too.
[Chorus] 'Cause darling, it was good Never looking down And right there where we stood Was Holy Ground
[Bridge] Tonight I'm gonna dance For all that we've been through But I don't wanna dance If I'm not dancing with you Tonight I'm gonna dance Like you were in this room But I don't wanna dance If I'm not dancing with you
[Chorus] It was good Never looking down Right there where we stood What Holy Ground
[Outro] Tonight I'm gonna dance For all that we've been through But I don't wanna dance If I'm not dancing with you Tonight I'm gonna dance Like you were in this room But I don't wanna dance If I'm not dancing with you

I've reached a state of enlightenment on pop music that very few will reach
There's levels to this shit, you understand?
First of all, there are the pop deniers. These are essentially the same as climate change deniers. They refuse to do any type of research into the facts, and they claim pop music is bullshit and not "serious" just as Fox News zealots claim that climate change is bullshit and not serious. Also, they might never changer their tune about it.
The second level is the poptimist. Now, these are the music fans that only interact with pop music in the academic sense, because they think it's quirky or cool or they wanna appear cultured. They almost get it, in that they're trying to make an effort at least, but their attitude toward pop music is like a white guy claiming he has one black friend and he's "not so bad" lol. For the poptimist, this is usually Carly Rae Jepsen or Charli XCX.
Third level is your standard pop fan. Now, they are gleefully unpretentious about pop music, but they usually are only excited about one main artist. Think about the "Swifties" who only like Taylor Swift. Or the "BTS Army" (or whatever their fandom is called) who only likes BTS. They have one artist they like but they don't care about much of anything else.
The fourth level is what I have achieved. A state of enlightenment that goes past the poptimist or the standard pop fan. I don't listen to pop music because I think it makes my taste quirky. I listen for the pure enjoyment of it. I listen to pop construction: The hooks, the chords, the lyrics, the bridges. I feel it with all of my senses. I am gleefully unpretentious about it and I will discuss pop music with the same weight as every other music, WITHOUT calling attention to it or dressing it up like the poptimists do.

Sweaty Lamarr - A Little Bit Cuntry, a Little Bit Rock & Roll
(Contemporary Country, Singer/Songwriter, Alt-Country)
Tara Giancaspro's debut EP sees her heartfelt songwriting take on the sound of contemporary country, delivering stories of romance, breakups, and self-determination with her charismatic voice and killer instrumentation. A Little Bit Cuntry, a Little Bit Rock & Roll is far removed from Giancaspro's previous emo tunes, but she's never sounded more forthright and confident than she does here.
☆☆☆☆½
Maybe it's an unusual way to start things, but I feel it's important to say right from the start that Tara Giancaspro should be incredibly proud of how A Little Bit Cuntry, a Little Bit Rock & Roll has turned out. A Philadelphia-by-way-of-Hoboken singer/songwriter who got her start only a few years ago with her 2021 debut single I Have Always Been in Love With You, Giancaspro came right out of the gate with sensitive, heartfelt songwriting and a powerful voice cultivated in her time taking voice lessons over at the Matt Farnsworth Vocal Studio and with opera singer Chelsea Friedlander, training her voice to be as strong and distinct as possible and passing over the usual vocal roadbumps most run into this early on into their artistic journeys. But her debut EP as Sweaty Lamarr - a clever name flip of the Austrian actress/inventor Hedy Lamarr - is trying something entirely different: Inspired by both her love of classic folk singers like Dolly Parton, Kirsty Maccoll and of contemporary singer/songwriters like Taylor Swift and Maren Morris, A Little Bit Cuntry... still holds onto Giancaspro's lovely voice and thoughtful songwriting, but recontextualizes with country rock grit and folksy introspection that gives her music so much more presence and power than its ever had before. Still putting her feelings at the forefront but able to dress them up with the gloss of contemporary country, A Little Bit Cuntry... is a fantastic addition to Giancaspro's early discography. Produced at Nashville's Lovegrove Studios and mixed by Hayden Tumlin, everyone who was a part of putting these songs together did a fantastic job with it all. Tumlin's mixes perfectly balance the album's softer tunes, the intimate Both Feet or glowing centerpiece Dorothy No More, and the punchier tracks like Brass Ring and lead single Abbey, I'm Sorry I Stole Your Man, by always keeping an ultra-polished sound that never lets anything stick out of the mix, all five of A Little Bit Cuntry...'s songs (well, six if you count the second version of Both Feet with slightly cleaner lyrics) fittingly beautifully next to one another and supporting each song's unique qualities without ever homogenizing the sound to make them feel like a cohesive package together. That's also something Giancaspro's voice helps a ton work, easily carrying the Jolene-inspired attack on internalize misogyny of Abbey, I'm Sorry I Stole Your Man just as well as the does the cowpunk highlight It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels, always keeping a gravitas and conviction to her singing and modifying it in little ways to fit the sound of any given song. It's damn impressive how solid all of A Little Bit Cuntry... sounds, especially considering it's Giancaspro's first foray into this kind of alt-country sound, but that only speaks to her ability to write and perform anything that she sets out to. She's got a pure artistic heart that can go anywhere that it wants, and A Little Bit Cuntry... is only the start of things. It's helpful that Giancaspro's emo roots translate quite well to this country sound, the through line between both styles their emphasis on self-expression and singer/songwriter vulnerability. It's a different kind of songwriting, sure, but the base elements of it are the same: she sings of destruction and leaving someone after they couldn't care to treat their relationship with her like it mattered at all on Dorothy No More, her swelling bridge about 3/4 of the way through the song as she repeats the simple refrain of "It's too late" (bless those vocal lessons, because she delivers one of the best vocal performances of anyone this year with that song!) could easily translate onto any emo instrumental and not feel out of place at all - the only thing that's changed her is the instrumental palette with which she tells these stories. She occasionally uses a conceptual framework to guide her songwriting, namely on the aforementioned track and Abbey, I'm Sorry I Stole Your Man, but it acts as a way for her already strong songwriting to ground itself in an established environment - The Wizard of Oz for the former and Parton's Jolene for the latter - rather than a crutch like it might be for other artists, Giancaspro's clever couplets and emotional intelligence on both songs ("Now I’ve got our dog at my feet / Gave her the choice and she ran to me" off Dorothy No More is one of my favorite) coming deep from within her the same as with any of her other tunes. The only time this falters a bit is on Both Feet: I admire how upfront and soul-baring she is on the song but it loses that bit of sharpness found on the rest of A Little Bit Cuntry...'s tracks with lines like "Pleading like a kid, god you sound so young" or "You still can’t get my cunt off your tongue," but the song is still overall a great one that doesn't take away from the EP in the slightest. There's not once a moment on A Little Bit Cuntry... where she isn't confident and self-assured in her songwriting, narrating these stories of heartbreak and self-determination with personality and heart - seriously, how much fun is it when she goes "He said he had to give his coworker A RIDE?!" on Brass Ring? - and even if for some reason you don't like the sound of these songs, it's impossible to deny just how enchanting Giancaspro is as a performer. With how brief A Little Bit Cuntry... is at just six songs and 22 minutes, it's a massive achievement how strong an impression Giancaspro is able to make within that time, establishing herself as one of the most loveable and enthralling up-and-comers whose voice and songwriting abilities go so much further than you'd ever expect with only a few years on her belt now. These songs are smart, well-written, and wonderfully performed, and it's hard to imagine anyone else in the indie scene delivering this kind of empathetic and electrifying experience as well as she has here. A Little Bit Cuntry, a Little Bit Rock & Roll is the best possible way Giancaspro could get things started, six songs that'll make you understand exactly why she's such a strong artistic force, a debut EP that shows off all her strengths right from the start. Wherever she goes from here, there's no doubt it'll turn out great.

Kate, Anthony and 1989 by Taylor Swift
Alright, so in this post I talked about how Kate and Anthony’s album is 100% reputation, but I also got a request to do some of the other albums so yay! Here we are looking at the masterpiece that is 1989. I’m not going to talk about all of the songs like I did for reputation, but instead I think I’m going to pick specific songs and go into a bit more depth about the lyrics and why I think they fit Kathony (because obviously not every song on 1989 fits with them like reputation- I mean, how do you relate Kathony to Welcome To New York lmao). Anyway, let’s get into it.
So, first of all, I already mentioned in this ask that 1989 and reputation are probably two of the most similar thematically out of all of Taylor’s albums, apart from folklore and evermore of course. Both of them talk about the precariousness of being in a relationship that’s kind of on that precipice of ‘are we going to make it, are we not going to make it’, and I think overall that really is Kathony’s dynamic for majority of their story. However, the two also provide insight into love and lust and all those lovely things, without sounding pretentious, which I feel like is key to Kate and Anthony’s relationship- they love each other without the shiny ornaments attached, just by being wholly themselves.
Out Of The Woods
Okey dokey, we’re starting off with an all-time classic here. OOTW is about Taylor’s relationship with Harry Styles of course, and details a pivotal moment in their relationship, with Taylor questioning if they were ‘out of the woods’ and ‘in the clear’. One of the most important parts of this song is the repetitiveness of the chorus, which contributes to the anxiety felt about being in a relationship, and we all know that Kate and Anthony both feel this anxiety, especially Book!Anthony. The lyric ‘the rest of the world was black and white, but we were in screaming colour’ is reminiscent to Anthony’s ‘just keep looking at me, no one else matters’ in episode 2x08, and really captures that idea of being the centre of someone’s world these two seem to encapsulate. ‘We were built to fall apart then fall back together’ also feels very meaningful- Anthony and Kate both reveal the deepest, most broken parts of themselves to each other and help each other through those experiences and breaking through those fears, taming their demons. And in terms of the OOTW bridge- the accident that is mentioned in there is a very ‘Kate is injured and Anthony is extremely anxious about her’ vibe, and I think the line ‘when you started crying, baby I did too’ speaks volume, especially after that final scene with Anthony and Violet in 2x08. In fact, here is something I saw today that was exactly this and since I have no Swiftie friends to send this to, you can take it.
Wildest Dreams
If you’re thinking ‘oh god, I only associate Wildest Dreams with Saphne now after season 1’ then yeah, me too. HOWEVER, it is very much Kate and Anthony (more so than Saphne) so here we go. Wildest Dreams is about your classic forbidden relationship- ‘let’s get out of this town, drive out of the city, away from the crowds’. Immediately, I’m reminded of Anthony’s line about wanting to run away with Kate, about wanting to be with her, just her, ‘away from the crowds’. And immediately following that line, Kate goes ‘heaven can’t help me know’ and… yeah, we know how that ends. Anthony is, of course, ‘so tall and handsome as hell’, and I suppose he can be ‘so bad, but he does it so well’ (if doing ‘it’ is being a full-blown simp for his beautiful wife, that is). The chorus is something that I feel particularly strong about: ‘say you’ll remember me, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset, babe. Red lips and rosy cheeks, say you’ll see me again even if it’s just in your wildest dreams’. Of course, we know that Anthony dreams about Kate (and Kate also daydreams about Anthony), but what is really striking is the ‘red lips and rosy cheeks’. One thing that I love is Kate’s faint blush that’s on her cheeks during the bee scene, and as soon as I went back and read this lyric, that was the first thing I was reminded of. And, as we know, both of them reflect heavily on this moment. The entire song can be summed up in another classic Taylor Swift bridge: memories following you around, remembering each other, remembering the things you were doing which you probably shouldn’t have been doing, seeing each other in your ‘wildest dreams’. So much of Kathony’s story is told through memories: memories of the trauma they’ve faced, their father’s deaths, and then, eventually, memories of each other, which is why this song is incredibly Kathony.
Clean
Clean is not really Kathony for me, but more their own personal journeys that end up intertwined at the end of their story. Clean is about overcoming something, moving on from a challenge in your life and realising that you’re finally ‘clean’. The hidden message for Clean was not just about losing someone but losing yourself, and this is really clear in both Kate and Anthony, and the way they changed after their father’s deaths. Daphne and Violet both mention this change in Anthony, but I think that even though we don’t see it or hear it mentioned, this happened to Kate as well. I’m sure Edwina, being only 10 (I think?) when their father, never really knew Kate as anything other than the strong, responsible older sister, but obviously Kate was a child once too, and after her father’s death she stepped up into that caretaker role as well. In experiencing a loss of someone important to them, Kate and Anthony lost themselves, but in finding each other they find themselves again as well. I also find it ironic that Kate’s accident is what brought the two of them together, after realising that it wasn’t selfish to take what you wanted before it was too late, and that this happened in the rain.
You Are In Love
And finally, the last song in the 1989/Kathony analysis: a personal favourite of mine, You Are In Love. There are a lot of lyrics that I could unpack here, but I don’t really have enough time, so I do recommend going to listen to it if you don’t already know it because the imagery in this song is beautiful. The song basically details the development of a relationship, before eventually realising that you’re in love with this person. One of the most important lyrics of the song is ‘one night he wakes, strange look on his face, pauses then says “you’re my best friend”, and you knew what it was, he is in love’. This is undeniably Kathony, you cannot convince me of it otherwise. In The Viscount Who Loved Me, during the original storm scene, Kate and Anthony recognise each other as friends, and later when they become engaged, Anthony also notes their friendship. Even though Kate and Anthony are the enemies to lovers of the Bridgerton universe, part of what’s so important about their relationship is that they are kindred spirits, and one of the reasons Anthony is so sure they will work is because they did become friends, and remained friends during their marriage. Another lyric that resonates is ‘you can hear it in the silence’. Using silence in film and television to demonstrate deeper meaning is not uncommon, and Anthony and Kate certainly have a lot of moments of silence and tension as well. Every time they’re close together and they don’t have anything else to say, just to be there in each other’s presence, breathing into each other’s mouths, that silence is filled with potential and unresolved feelings, and we all know what it is they’re feeling but they find themselves incapable of articulating that themselves. In the book especially, there is a moment of silence that I personally love, and that’s Anthony’s realisation that he’s in love with Kate before he freaks out and leaves. It’s almost as if he cannot bear to be silent for any point in time because he can’t push those feelings down anymore.  It’s a truly beautiful song and everything about it reminds me of Kathony especially.
So there we have it! A couple of my thoughts on Kathony + 1989. I truly enjoy writing these so much, so I think I’ll tackle Lover next and then, if anyone wants it, evermore. Also feel free to talk to me about Kathony or Taylor anytime, I love a good fandom chat.
