Glad to provide a little angst for your enjoyment!! Thanks for the kind words❤️
Perfect illusion (Sauron x Celebrimbor’s daughter!reader)
-> in which you have to sit by your father’s side as Sauron coerces him into finishing the Nine, realizing just how blind you have been all along
Warnings: No romance, just angst. You marry Annatar (+ implied smut) when you don’t know he’s Sauron, so there’s all the emotional torment and consent issues that come with that. Uncomfortable touching (not smut) after you find out he’s Sauron. Manipulation, mind control and victim blaming as per canon
You sit in your chair, watching your father work. A familiar thing, which you have done a million times before. Before, however, there had never been a shackle around his wrist, or blood marring his brow. There had never been rubble scattered about the workplace, or the sound of battle coming through the window. Before, there had never been The Dark Lord standing behind you, his hands weighing you down as though the ceiling had collapsed upon you.
That is not to say that they are forceful. No, his touch is soft, as it has always been, his fingers brushing your hair gently, almost absent-mindedly. At times they reach your neck or your cheek, grazing your skin and sending shivers down your spine. You dig your nails painfully into your own hands to keep from trembling. It’s the least, even if the most inconsequential thing, that you can still do—to deny him this small satisfaction.
“Stop that,” Sauron says, his voice deceivingly gentle as he gives your shoulder a warning squeeze. “You’ll only hurt yourself.”
Of course, that only makes you want to clench your fists harder. But you force yourself to open them, mindful of what might happen if you disobey.
“You once took comfort in my touch,” he says. If you knew no better, you’d believe the sorrow in his voice is genuine. “It is only comfort I wish to give you now as well.”
His knuckles brush your cheek, painfully tender and excruciatingly familiar. Though you’ve been trying to keep as still as possible, you cannot help but turn your face away, if only just an inch.
His hand stills mid-air, then returns to your shoulder. He takes a breath, quiet but long and deep.
“I have caused you suffering. That is true,” he admits, patiently. “But I assure you that this too shall pass. Once Middle-Earth is healed, and the people will see what we did here... your feelings will change.”
You can’t help how your breath quickens, chest trembling with anger. It only becomes worse when Sauron puts his fingers to your chin, coaxing you to twist your neck and look up into his piercing eyes. “You must know it pains me,” he says, “treating you like—”
“Like you have treated countless others?” your father intercedes in haste.
Sauron’s attention turns to Celebrimbor then, as your father had no doubt hoped it would. The whole time he’d been working, his eyes kept straying to you, as if to make sure you are still alive and whole. To your relief, Sauron removes his hand from your face. To your dread, he is now moving towards Celebrimbor, displeased with his remark.
“Like Morgoth treated me,” he corrects, hovering over your father.
You are not bound. You could, in theory, try to run. But you are not foolish enough to believe you could escape. Any such attempt would only earn you a shackle of your own, similar to your father’s. Though, you’re starting to believe that the cold bite of metal might just be more bearable than the silent imprisonment of your husband’s touch.
Your husband. The word twists in your stomach, carves holes into your heart. It all came so naturally to you when you spoke the vows and sealed the bond. Now, you can’t imagine how you got here. All you know are the facts of what happened, and even those no longer seem to make sense in your weakened mind.
You know who you used to be, when the world still made sense: daughter of Celebrimbor, the greatest of Elven smiths. You think his talents mixed with your mother’s magic may have resulted in your gift to manipulate materials in particular ways which do not necessarily come naturally. You know the mithril had refused to be coaxed into joining with the other metals without your intervention. You know Halbrand had been the one to suggest that you try it.
You know how easily he had endeared himself to you from the moment you met, and how confusing and sharp the pain had been when he disappeared without a trace. You know how quick you had been to let him into Eregion when he returned, despite Galadriel’s inexplicable request that you refrain from doing so.
You know the transition from Halbrand to Annatar had been unexpected, if not jarring, but in the end the pull you felt towards him was unchanged. You know there were touches, desire... trust.
You no longer know why. Because there never was a reason—not a true one, anyway. Only his deception, his mind games. But at the time, you didn’t know. At the time, it had made perfect sense when, one night, you had found yourself at the dining table, anxious about giving your father the news of what had happened a mere few hours prior.
Annatar was to your side, sitting at the head of the long table, while your father was across from you. He may be the Lord of Eregion, but he had insisted that an emissary of the Valar should take the most important seat. Yet despite your father’s deep admiration for Annatar, you were not sure how he would react.
“As you know,” you began tentatively, “Lord Annatar has been a close and trusted friend to me, these past few weeks. As he has been to you.”
“Indeed,” your father nodded. His unsure smile and knitted brow told you he was at a loss for what you were leading up to. You opened your mouth, but found yourself quite tongue-tied. You glanced at Annatar, who graciously took over.
“However,” he continued, lips forming a gentle, almost bashful smile, “after a time, we found that there were... deeper feelings between us.”
Though he was speaking to Celebrimbor, his gaze sought yours. You met it, heart fluttering as he wrapped your hand in his, resting them on the table in such a way that the new ring on your finger was in your father’s line of sight.
“Annatar has proposed marriage, father,” you finally say, turning to him. “And I have accepted.”
Your father blinked, eyebrows lifting in an expression of wordless surprise. When words failed to leave his mouth, Annatar took it upon himself to break the silence once more.
“My friend, I...” He trailed off, uncharacteristically hesitant in his choice of words. “I am well aware I should have asked for your blessing beforehand. Especially since things have progressed with such unusual haste, but—”
“Oh, nonsense!” your father burst out, as if finally regaining his senses. “Nonsense, my friend, this...” A short laugh bubbled out of him as he turned to you with a face-splitting grin. “Such wonderful news! Oh, my dear,” he took your hand in his, gazing in wonder upon your betrothal ring before he pressed a kiss filled with fatherly love to your knuckles. “You could not have found a better match,” he praised.
“The same is true for myself,” Annatar said, giving you that kind smile of his that never failed to have you return it.
Relief washed over you. All was well.
You’d be lying to say there isn’t a part of you that resents your father for giving you away so eagerly. He could not stop you no matter who you chose to wed, but with anyone else, he’d have at the very least warned you that the engagement had happened much too quickly. He’d have been more cautious of your betrothed, tried to determine whether or not their intentions towards you were true. But Annatar, in your father’s eyes, was of divine nature, and the thought of becoming kin with one of his kind had filled your father with such pride, it overshadowed all else.
You wonder if he is as ashamed of that moment now as you are. And of everything that came after.
You’re not sure if speaking the wedding vows had somehow allowed Sauron better dominion over your mind, or if you were simply too far gone by then. Little by little, more and more over time, you came to depend on your husband. When your father began acting strange and ill-tempered, Annatar alone knew of his ailment, and he alone could help him heal. He alone could provide the comfort you needed as you watched your father lose himself by the day, unaware that the same was happening to you.
He always knew when and what to say to bring you peace. He never seemed to leave your side, whether in the presence of others or alone. And you craved being alone with him more than anything else. He was an expert lover, so attuned to the needs of your flesh, it was as though he could slither beneath your skin and discern for himself which of his touches felt the most exquisite. Being near him was a delight in itself, but intimacy with him was simply addictive.
Warm morning light flooded through your window, and you wondered how you were supposed to ever leave this bed. Lying on your husband’s chest, skin to skin in the afterglow of your love-making, everything else in the world seemed so inconsequential in comparison.
“Do you ever sleep?” you asked, wondering suddenly how it had never crossed your mind before. He was always by your side as you drifted to sleep—most often spent from yet another passionate exchange—and he was there to greet you each time you awoke. Yet he was not of your kind, and an emissary of the Valar seemed to you above such things as sleep.
“It is not in my nature to sleep,” he admitted, fingers tracing gentle lines up and down your spine. “But I rather enjoy laying by your side as you do.”
Your heart soared at the quiet adoration in his voice. And before long, you found yourself aching for him once more. You brushed his neck with your lips, lightly at first, and then with more insistence, making your desire known.
“Again?” he asked, faintly amused.
You lifted your head, the smallest furrow in your brow. “Does it bother you?”
“Not in the least,” he replied. If that wasn’t reassurance enough, his lips caught yours, and he moved so that your body was safely beneath his, and even the thousandth time would not have been enough.
You can still taste his kisses—and they feel like ash. You remember how each time you became one, it felt better, but only now can you see how it made things so much worse. A corner of your mind, growing larger by the day, was always occupied by him. Each time you aided in the making of one of your father’s Ring designs, you did so with thoughts of Annatar. You know now why he wanted it that way—your craving for his touch, your utter devotion to him, seeping into the Rings the Power, one by one. You think you might have known even then. But he was always careful not to push you too far, to bring you back from the brink of suspicion before it ever started to take shape in your mind.
Even when the reality of things was undeniable before your eyes.
Your last night before finding out had been spent in a dreadful haze. Sleep felt more like a waking prison as you dreamt of terrible, yet distant things, hearing screams without seeing where they came from, seeing blood and ashes on streets you felt you should but could not recognize. You were grateful to wake up and see the sunlit sky beyond your window. Its light adorned your husband’s hair beautifully, the familiar sight of him sitting on the edge of your bed bringing you further relief.
“There you are,” he greeted softly, brow creased with a trace of concern. “You gave us quite the scare.”
“What—?” Your attempt to speak ended in a cough, as if you’d been breathing dust instead of air. Annatar left your side in haste, returning but a moment later with a glass of water.
“Here,” he said, putting the glass to your lips. You took it gladly, relishing the water soothing your throat. Once Annatar had helped you sit up and settle against the pillows, you asked, as you had meant to, “What happened?”
There was pity in his gaze. “Don’t you remember, my love?”
You shut your eyes, trying to grasp at figments of blurry images. “I was outside, I think. Mirdania was there. And you. And...”
Annatar shook his head, speaking as softly as if to a frightened child. “Earlier in the day, perhaps. When you collapsed, you were in the forge, with me and Lord Celebrimbor. When you sought to aid your father in merging the metals for his latest attempt at the Nine, your efforts over these past weeks took their toll on you.” He gave you a sympathetic smile, fingers brushing your cheek. “You fell right into my arms.”
“I did?”
His words did evoke images. The memory was there, somewhere. But the more you tried to reach for it, the more your insides churned.
“Be at ease,” Annatar soothed. “You merely slept through the night. I have watched over you all the while, and I shall do so until you are better.”
Better. Yes, you would get better.
But you knew, deep in your bones, that you were not well. The sense of dread within you refused to recede, lingering in the furthest corner of your mind even in the moments where you felt the safest. Something deeply rooted in you wanted it all to be over—the work, the forging, the ailments, your father’s as well as yours. You wished so desperately for things to return to the way they used to be before the Rings, it felt as though a great fist had clenched around your heart and refused to release it. But then again, before the Rings, there hadn’t been Annatar. And your need for him hurt just as terribly.
In the end, everything hurt. Everything.
“Are you in pain?” your husband murmured. You hadn’t realized tears were already sliding down your cheeks.
You broke into sobs.
He slipped beneath the covers and wrapped you in his arms. It became even harder to breathe, and you clung to him all the harder for it, desperate to find that peace that he had offered you time and again.
“Hush, my love,” he cooed, holding you close to his chest as you wept for reasons unknown. “All will be well soon.”
You had fallen into his arms, just like he’d said. Only, you hadn’t been inside the forge, but outside, just as your mind had fruitlessly struggled to remind you. You were there when the siege alarms began to blare and chaos erupted in the streets. When you saw your husband walk amongst it, you had run to him at once. Asking where your father was, wanting to stand united with your kin amidst the unfolding madness.
Darkness had engulfed your vision instead, shrouding your memory as well. He must have carried you back to your chambers himself, crafting an illusion within your mind to match the one in which Celebrimbor was already trapped.
It makes sense now. How desperately you had clung to the very source of your misery. One cannot satisfy thirst by drinking sea water, but you, in your foolishness, had drunk enough to drain the sea.
“You chose it,” he now tells your father, speaking of the suffering he had inflicted, “not I.”
And there’s a part of you that believes him, even as another screams inside you that his words are poison. You cling desperately to the scrap of reason within you which recognizes that his claims are atrocious—that it is Celebrimbor who forced Sauron to torment him, that he is the true author of his own torment. You watch in disbelief, feeling as though you’re falling through the floor, waiting for your father to refute Sauron’s lies as if hearing the truth spoken out loud will save you from shattering to pieces at the bottom of the abyss.
And you can tell he wants to. There is defiance in Celebrimbor’s eyes as he glances to you, the fire of his will still burning beneath the burden of his torment. But, slowly and surely, he tames it. Averts his gaze in shame.
“Very well,” your father says. “Give me the blame. Punish me as you see fit. You have already taken my city. But I beg you,” his voice trembles, tears gathering in his eyes, “let my daughter leave.”
A smirk tugs at Sauron’s lips. “Your daughter...” He returns to your side, gathering your stiff hand in his and thumbing your wedding ring. “...is my wife, Celebrimbor. It is only natural that she should remain at my side.”
You and Celebrimbor exchange a despairing glance. Your father, determined to plea for your freedom—you, fearing the consequences he might bring upon himself.
“Please—”
“Father, don’t—”
“No!” he cries out. “I all but pushed you into his arms.” Tears slip from his regret-filled eyes. “That is my fault.”
Sauron takes a seat next to you, his brow furrowed as if he couldn’t possibly grasp the reason for such grievances.
“She has given herself to me freely,” he says, your hand still trapped in his as he wraps an arm around your shoulders. “Have you not?”
You glare daggers at him.
“How could I have chosen you freely, when I never knew who you were?” you hiss. It does nothing to deter him.
“Why do you lie to yourself? You knew.” You shake your head. He nods his, insisting, “Yes. Deep within your heart, you knew.”
“Don’t say such things to her,” Celebrimbor pleads, “I beg you—”
“Such things as the truth, Celebrimbor?” Sauron asks roughly, irritated by the interruption. “Tell him, my dear wife,” he challenges, “that you never once suspected I was more than what I claimed to be. That you never felt the caress of darkness within my touch.”
You cannot look at him, or at your father. You cannot speak those words, however desperately you wish you could.
“Tell him,” Sauron insists cruelly, squeezing your hand to the point of near pain.
“I did,” you murmur miserably. Sauron loosens his threatening grip on your hand, pleased.
“Yet even as you cried yourself to sleep in fear of it,” he goes on, “it was within my arms that you took comfort. Because, in truth, you were not afraid of who I was—you were afraid of how little it mattered to you.” A last spark of defiance drives you to make the mistake of meeting his gaze, and his sickly sympathetic smile makes you shudder within his hold. “He needed to create,” he reasons. “You needed to be desired. And I needed you both.”
His arm is no longer around you, but the relief is meager and short-lived as he then cups your cheek, thumb catching the tears that have begun to fall from your eyes. He insists to hold his hand there as you flinch, screwing your eyes shut. A small sigh leaves him.
“Have I not treated you well?” he asks. “Was I not kind to you when you most needed it? A caring husband, a most... generous lover?”
“Hold your wicked tongue!” you all but growl, your head jerking with enough force that he retracts his hand. Your eyes fly to Celebrimbor, and see that he has shut his in great pain. Shame crawls under your skin. Sauron smiles in a mockery of bashfulness.
“Forgive me for speaking of such matters before your father, but it is only the truth. You must admit that. And it need not change.”
His hand returns to your cheek then, pressed more firmly to it, and you only now realize it’s the one he cut. You feel a warm wetness on your skin, and know that once he removes it, his blood, black as the pitch, would be smeared there, marking you even further as his.
“The Rings are nearly finished,” you say through gritted teeth. “You never truly desired me. What more use could you have of me?”
“Who says I never desired you?” he whispers, almost as if wounded. “I would not have made you my wife, if it hadn’t been my wish to make you my Queen as well.”
His voice is so alluring, so saccharine and familiar to your ears, it takes everything in you to remind yourself that every word is a lie. And if you grasp at reason, you can tell why he speaks them. Because of your involvement in making the Rings, you would always have some measure of influence over them, so it serves him well to have you under his control. But not only that. He would relish knowing he has subdued you to his will. That he not only ensnared the mind of the greatest of Elven smiths, but also claimed his daughter as his prize.
A storm brews in Sauron’s eyes as he senses your persisting reluctance. His fingers grip your chin, pulling you close so that his breath falls on your cheek as he speaks.
“You will say yes to me once more.”
You hate how determined he is to make it so. You hate how helpless you are to do anything other than glare back at him.
But what you hate the most is that you are not certain he is wrong.

Okay, since requests are open, I wanted to ask for something, especially after seeing that you are comfortable with most male characters.
I present:
Scott Summers x fem!reader who's just a little too rebelious and annoying for his taste but he still can't help but love her? Like, enemies to lovers kind of style?
If you want to do a oneshot or headcanons is up to you, I'm just starving for Scott content.
Don't know, if you wanna do is, especially since he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I thought "hey, give it a try, maybe she wants to try someting different" so here I go
Anyway, love your work, you#re amazing <3
Cyclops/GN!Reader I've had this prompt saved in my drafts for SO LONG. Basically since the moment it came in!! I was so happy you sent this in bc i had been thinking about writing for Scott, but then I couldn't think of a good enough way to carry this out so I waited on it for a good bit until I had it down to a science!! Hope you enjoy!! Man, I started writing this and then realised I had to make a banner for him too 😭 I did this to myself tho Most of the characters I write for are written as combinations from different x-men media, but I'm still figuring out how I want to characterise Scott since he's a new character for me. Just wanted to put this out there in case I change how I write for him in future fics. (also, let me know how you feel about him in this one! Tell me if yall think I should tweak his attitude a bit :) ) Edit from the future: I started this draft so long ago and damn did it turn out long. TWs: Idk at the moment, will add if I think of any! Reader has a specific power that is kinda vague at first. I've written them out at the very bottom BUT if u read u will spoil the surprise of the fic so fair warning

Scott does not like you. At least, not anymore.
You've known each other for a long time, both coming to Xavier's school within weeks of each other. You used to be friends- or at least friendly. But as you both grew and learned more about yourselves and your powers, a gap began to form, and then continued to grow once both of you became members of the x-men.
It's not like he didn't notice your tendency for rebellious behavior before, but on the field? the two of you clashed more than ever. He's doing his best out here, and the last thing he needs as a leader is both you and Logan going out of your way to put yourselves in dangerous situations because you think you know better.
And the moment you get back to the mansion? You clash all over again- and over the dumbest things. You practically avoid him all of the time, refuse to spar with him unless you're forced, will scoot away from him if he has to sit next to you on game nights. It's like the very thought of brushing against him is enough to get under your skin.
The moment the blackbird lands, you should have known what to expect. But you're in such a good mood, with the mission having gone well despite all odds. Sure, you didn't exactly follow Cyclops' foolproof plan, but when did you ever?
Scott is standing at the end of the ramp when the doors open, watching with a rather sour look on his face as you laugh with Jubilee, the others trailing shortly behind. He crosses his arms, and you barely stop short of him, acting like you had never seen him in the first place as you sigh, nodding at the others to go ahead before finally turning to him and crossing your own arms.
"Go ahead. Say your piece." You say. It only stokes the irritation in him, and he scowls.
"You can't go one, single mission and actually listen to what I say, can you?" He snaps. You roll your eyes, knowing that if he had it his way, you'd never have gone on the mission at all. Still, you stand defiantly, unwilling to back down.
"Look, you weren't even there, you can't expect me to-"
"It would be different if I was there, but I wasn't." Scott interrupts you, and the aggravation it lights in you is practically all-consuming. You can't hold back your scowl. "You were the only senior member of the team on that plane, do you understand how detrimental it could have been if you had gotten hurt, or worse?!" Oh, what a load of horseshit. It's alway the boy scout schtick with him- I'm the leader, do what I say, If I was there none of this would have happened- what an asshole! Hell, in the second half you might have actually thought he was concerned for you and the team, but you knew better.
"Don't act like you actually give a damn, Summers." You snap. "Everyone is fine, no one got hurt, I don't see your problem." You're done with this. You're tired, sweaty, exhausted, and the last thing you want to be doing right now is talking with him. You knock shoulders with him as you brush past, but he reaches out and grabs you by the arm. You feel a mix of strong emotions- anger, concern, frustration- and thoughts swim in your head, before snatching your arm away from him like you'd been burned. He pauses for a second as you whip around and look at him, a rage in your eyes. He still looks at you with that stupid, stubborn look on his face.
"I get that you think I'm just some stuck-up asshole, but there's a reason I get angry when you do something reckless." His voice has lost the smallest a bit of fire. You scoff at him immediately, before turning away to storm out.
"Eat shit."
So no. things weren't exactly cool between you two.
It's not like you weren't friends at some point though, back when you were kids. You didn't know what happened to cause this rift, but he only really thought of you as some reckless idiot as of late, and you didn't care to learn anything else about what was going on in his brain.
Unfortunately, that didn't mean you could avoid him forever. Not when the both of you are on a team.
You only realise how much pain you're in when the blackbird's autopilot clicks on. Your suit was scuffed and worn in some areas, starting to burn at the edges of your sleeves as the protective coating started to wear away. You noticed it in the midst of battle, trying to focus on manipulating debri to a colder temperature rather than a hot one, but sometimes you can't afford to be picky in fights. Your suit may have been temperature resistant, but you were temperature invulnerable. Besides, heat did the most damage anyway.
You frown a bit at the sight of your burnt sleeves. Normally, you'd be worried that Hank would be mad at having to make a new suit again, but if anything you were sure he'd be grateful for the challenge of improving it. Scott was really the only one who would scold you for it, always coming back to the same arguments of being too reckless, ect, ect... and speaking of Scott, he was being awfully quiet right now.
The cockpit is empty exempt for the two of you, being the only two assigned to the mission. Scott is sat in the pilot's chair, and you can't really see much of him besides the top of his head. He's silent, and it makes you worried.
When you stand and walk. over to him, his face looks pained. You're sure his eyes are closed under his signature visor, his head leaning back limply in the chair, hair tussled. You furrow your eyebrows. You knew he'd be tired, but he's not usually this burned out.
"Scott? You alright?" You ask. he only hums in response. It's then when you realise what's wrong.
"Migraine?" You ask, and he hums in the affirmative. You wince at the thought. You knew he got migraines often, especially when using his mutation more than usual, and having migraines yourself, you knew he was hurting. You take a look at where the emergency aid box usually is, knowing it had painkillers, but the space is empty, and you sigh to yourself when you remember you used it on a local- Scott agreeing with you for once when you wanted to leave it with them for any more emergencies. You look back at Scott, and think for a moment more.
Scott jumps when you place a cold hand on his forehead, having settled your weight on the back of the chair behind him. It sparks a feeling of surprise.
"What are you doing?" Scott asks, and instead of his usual accusatory tone, he just sounds tired.
"Don't be a baby." You respond, chilling both hands and combing through his hair gently. Scott is confused as all hell. Why were you doing this? You go out of your way to avoid him at any cost, and then... this? What even was this?
But... he'd be lying if it didn't feel nice. Scott begins to relax underneath you as you continue to comb through his scalp, pressing gentle touches to his forehead as you do so. It's... it feels good.
"My mom used to do this when I was little." You say softly, after a long moment of silence. "Whenever I had a migraine, she'd run her hands under cold water for a long time, lay my head in her lap, and run her hands through my hair. The cold usually helped." Scott's shoulder's are sagging now, and he sighs every once in a while. Although he doesn't say anything, you don't need to ask. There's a question beginning to brim, but you answer it before he can even speak- saving him the effort of talking in the midst of his pain.
"...And it just felt nice to feel her play with my hair, I guess. 'figured it might help you, too."
You try not to dwell on whatever thoughts begin to swirl after that.
It's hard to tell when things shift after that. Even harder for Scott to understand why.
Eventually you go from avoiding him at any given chance, stiff and petty with your actions, to casual. Not quite friendly, but almost.
"And... Right hand red!" Jubilee calls from the couch, having entirely too much fun for someone who isn't even playing this game. Everyone who's already lost has dispersed, either playing a different game or having good conversation. The game of twister had started with four? Maybe five of you? But at the moment, it was just down to you and Scott. -The two of you being way too competitive to let the other win. At the moment, both of you were in a bit of a strange position, with Scott managing to crawl over you at some point. Aside from that, the game had been going on for uncomfortably long- long enough for the pizza to get here.
The doorbell rings and it's pretty instantaneous when people start to flock to the kitchen for the feast, Jubilee included. There's a flicker of panic in both of you as she quickly leaves.
"Hey!-"
"Jubilee! Wait!"
"You'll be fine, you big babies!" She calls out, giggling in her pursuit of the cheesy goodness. That just leaves you and Scott on the matt, pressed together in some places and a but uncomfortable, but awkwardly? Still competeting.
"God, that pizza smells good." Scott groans from above you, the smell of food becoming more and more tempting. You think about it, for a half a second maybe, but that competitive little devil on your shoulder gets to you before your stomach can.
"You know what? why don't you go ahead and grab a piece!" You say, causing Scott to cock an eyebrow at you.
"What, and let you win? Not a chance." He huffs. You shrug best you can, it was worth a shot! Neither of you were going to budge any time soon, determined not to let the other win. But the longer you stayed pressed together...
It's not like you hadn't noticed how handsome Scott was. Hell, who wouldn't? Even Logan isn't immune to his good looks, but obviously you weren't going to be... wierd, about it. You're just playing a game, right? But the sight of him above you, slightly flushed, shifting every once in a while while keeping his balance? It was... tempting.
It doesn't take long for other thoughts to begin swimming around, worming their way into your mind. The two of you in various states of undress... gasping, gripping onto one another... marks on his neck, your lips swollen and stained by the lipstick your wearing tonight.
Each and every thought leaves you more flustered than before, slipping on the plastic mat and accidentally knocking into one of Scott's weight bearing arms and sending the two of you colliding into the floor. You hear Scott let out a noise of pain and you're not down there for long before you shove him off of you, face burning as you grumble about his win. You stalk off without much fanfare, leaving Scott a bit befuddled.
"What was that all about?"
But regardless of how aggravated you made eachother sometimes, everyone has their breaking point...
You're surprised when Scott kisses you in the hall some weeks later, less than a second after a heated spat started to take a bit of a turn, but to be honest? You were into it.
His lips are soft, if a little chapped, heated kisses full of force and urgency before they soften just a little. You kiss him back in a similar manner his hands falling to your waist as you grab him by the collar and pull him even closer. You're quick to start moving the two of you backwards fumbling for a closet door you could have sworn was right... there.
As soon as the door swings open, you pull him inside, pushing him against the wall once it closes again and cupping the back of his neck as you pull him into another kiss. An unfamiliar feeling of warmth shoots through you as you do, and you almost giggle as his thoughts start to flood with more and more tempting situations for the two of you to be in.
After each and every dirty thought he has, you start to wonder if he even remembered your touch telepathy after having known you for so long- but hell, even if he didn't, you weren't complaining.

If u made it this far, I wanna give u details about the Reader's powers some more!! Specifically, the powers are temperature manipulation/temperature invulnerability/touch telepathy! They get a bit complicated bc reader can't light shit on fire or make ice out of the air, but they can melt shit and freeze existing water though! As long as reader touches it in some way! Due to this they're invulnerable to heat/cold for obvious reasons. Touch telepathy was added bc i love mutations with unnecessary layers (Emma frost) and... u really think I was gonna let scott get away without banging another telepath? wrONG

Do you read comic book fanfic? If you do, what are some of your favorites?
I know a lot of it is extremely dubious and not related to canon, but every once in a while, you come across AMAZING rarepair fics or roleswap AUs or something that are made with lots of love for canon and are very compelling, so I was wondering if you had recs.
You're so right, some fics are absolutely incredible!! I'm not a big fic reader, but here are some I've really enjoyed!
I've recced this before but I love love love @shobogan's Cass fics. Volving is my favourite, it takes place right after Batgirl (2000) and it's REALLY good! But all of their fics are worth a read!
to be buried alive by @blackbatcass is a masterpiece. A Reborn-era retelling that imagines if Cass and Dick had shared the Batman mantle! If you like Dick, Cass, the Reborn era, Damian, or just amazing writing, I highly highly recommend!
@luvo27 has this really excellent Steph and Bruce series, we could have had anything else, exploring their relationship as Robin and Batman! There's 2 works and they're both amazing, the second one in particular is such a gutwrencher. I cried... (I also cried in the first two recs so. I cry a lot. But they ALL deserved my tears!!)
signal, n. a divine act by britishparty is SOOO GOOD. An AU where Duke's powers manifest in a halo, and he tries to figure out what it's supposed to mean. The use of canon in this hits SO hard like this is lowkey required Duke fic reading.
heavy is the crown by @stephmainly is a StephCass sports AU where Steph is a reporter and Cass is a pro athlete!! 1 out of 2 chapters has been published but it's so so fun and the StephCass dynamic is so chef's kiss perfect, go read it!!
And Be Made Anew by @teleportationmagic is GOD-TIER. A mission gone wrong forces Babs to choose between Steph and Cass, and she chooses Cass. The fallout from this is breathtaking, and the characterisation for Babs and Cass is FLAWLESS. It's unfinished but it's so so so good it's already worth it!!
Moonlight Musings by Scribe_By_Night is a TaiCass fic and it's so GOOD. It really captures Cass' feelings for Tai'Darshan, and their dynamic is sooo interesting. This is unfinished and hasn't been updated in around 2 years but A GIRL CAN DREAM OKAY. I actually created an AO3 account to comment on this fic 😭. If you read and enjoy this, please leave a comment too so maybe the author might continue it one day!
If you want fic recs from people who read more fics than me and whose opinions I wholeheartedly trust, @getthembees and @aingeal98 have some great fic recs (mostly Cass-centric)! For Duke, check out @himejoshiangels' Duke Thomas fic rec list (which is where I read signal, n. a divine act and my life changed forever so the whole list has a thumbs up from me). I hope you enjoy these fics, they all deserve heaps of love!!!
#batfam#fic recs#ask#i cried in basically all of these... they're all so good guys#help maybe i need to read fics that aren't just about duke steph and cass 😭 i swear i like other characters too#hope this helps anon!!! happy reading!!!

--
Rivalry: Ushijima
It started the first day you walked into the gym.
Ponytail slung over one shoulder, clipboard under your arm, tie knotted too loose against a blouse that didn’t quite match school code. You weren’t late—but you walked in like you were doing them a favor by showing up at all. Your steps echoed sharp across the hardwood, rubber soles and attitude both hitting at full force.
You paused mid-stride, scanned the room, then raised one hand in a casual wave as if greeting old friends. "Why don’t we play music during warm-up? That’s depressing as hell."
The sentence dropped like a cinderblock. Every conversation froze. Tendou choked on his water. Semi looked up from taping his fingers and just blinked. Goshiki audibly gasped like you’d just committed sacrilege. Even Coach Washijou paused mid-note, pen hovering above his clipboard.
You blinked like you didn’t realize you'd said anything unusual, flashing a grin as if you’d already won something.
Ushijima hadn’t said a word. He just stared at you with that heavy, unreadable silence of his. In his mind, the label was immediate: irritant. Too loud, too impulsive, too unserious. She’ll be a disruption, he thought. And he was right.
You’d been with them nearly two years now. And to his complete dismay, you had not only proven yourself an effective manager—you had managed to wedge yourself beneath his skin like a splinter he couldn’t ignore.
On paper, you were everything a coach could want. Organized. Efficient. You remembered stats like a machine, kept meticulous logs, planned trips to the second, and answered press questions with a calm grace that rivaled any professional. You were technically perfect.
But you were also loud. Opinionated. You didn’t walk, you prowled. You gave everyone nicknames they didn’t ask for, cracked jokes mid-stretch, and had once drawn an anatomically questionable caricature of Coach Washijou on the team whiteboard that stayed up for a week. You were chaos wrapped in a school uniform. And somehow, everyone adored you for it.
Especially the team. Tendou egged you on constantly. Semi tried to act above it, but even he cracked grins when you were around. Goshiki blushed bright red whenever you leaned over him to check notes, and Reon always made sure you had a spare chair next to his.
They loved you. And that was a problem. Because Ushijima couldn’t stand how much he noticed you.
He told himself it was irritation. That the reason his eyes followed you was because you were disruptive. But it wasn’t that. Not anymore. Somewhere along the way, the awareness of you had shifted. It was in the way your laugh lingered long after you left a room. The way his gaze found you first whenever he entered one. The way your teasing, infuriating voice stayed in his head longer than his own thoughts. You weren’t just a disruption anymore. You were a fixation.
And he hated that.
Practice had ended nearly twenty minutes ago. Most of the team had already filtered out, some slapping towels at each other, others muttering about dinner plans. But you hadn’t left. You never did until he did.
You lingered like a shadow at the edge of the gym, leaning lazily against the wall as you watched him.
"Still punishing the ball for losing, Wakatoshi?"
He caught it mid-bounce and turned toward you, expression grim, eyes sharper than usual. You were in your usual end-of-day state—hair piled messily on your head, jacket tied around your waist, and that clipboard still glued to your side. He wondered if you ever let yourself be still. He doubted it.
“Need you to sign these for Coach,” you said, strolling up like you hadn’t just committed volleyball treason. “Year-end reports. Budgets. Dreams. Regrets. All the greatest hits.”
Ushijima didn’t say a word as he took the clipboard. His eyes scanned the top page with clinical precision, but you noticed the way his jaw ticked. The little muscle near his temple fluttered. A tiny, telltale crack in the calm.
You lingered a step away, leaning on one leg. “Also, Tendou left his knee brace again. I was gonna hide it in the ball cart as revenge but I’m trying to be a better person.”
The page turned with more force than necessary. Not a full rip—but the threat was there.
“Coach said to schedule a final practice match,” he said, voice flat.
You blinked. Then smiled—slow and deliberate.
“Yeah,” you said, breezy, “and I talked him out of it.”
His gaze lifted with a slowness that could have been mistaken for calm if it weren’t for the way he locked onto you like a goddamn laser sight. His posture changed—nothing dramatic, but all at once he was taller, broader, coiled tight like a rubber band one twist from snapping. You could feel the tension radiating off him like heat off sunbaked concrete.
“You went behind my back,” he said. The words were barely a sound. More like a growl, tucked into his chest.
You just raised both brows. “You make it sound so dramatic. It was a conversation. I made my case. Coach agreed. That’s not sabotage, it's persuasion.”
The clipboard creaked beneath his grip. You saw it now—his knuckles, white. His throat bobbing with a swallowed word. The slight tremor running through his arms like his own control was betraying him. And naturally, you stepped closer.
“Woah,” you murmured, voice dipping to something low and delighted. “Are you shaking, Ushijima?”
His eyes darkened.
“That decision wasn’t yours to make.”
“Neither was losing to Karasuno, but it still happened,” you shot back.
“You undermined me.”
“I protected the team.”
“You acted without me.”
“Because you don’t listen when you’re pissed!” you snapped, and for a moment, it wasn’t playful. “You’d drive them into the floor just to claw back one more win that’s not coming.”
Another step forward. You were close now. Not quite touching, but close enough to feel the heat rolling off him. He looked at you like he wanted to bury something into the wall—rage flickering in his eyes, shoulders square and trembling under the weight of holding himself back. His breath hitched in that way people do when they’re about to yell or—do something else.
You tilted your chin, smirking. “Any harder of a glare and I'll be six-feet under.”
His silence was deafening. Then, in a voice gritted and bitten off at the ends: “I can’t stand you.”
You snorted. “Yeah, that’s why I catch you staring at me during every water break. Real subtle by the way.”
He flinched. Just slightly. Enough to make your grin bloom.
“You're a virus,” he muttered. “An irritant. You dig in and stay.”
You leaned in closer—nose nearly brushing his. “Say it like I’m not your favorite headache.”
His fists clenched tighter at his sides. His whole body trembled, jaw wired shut, eyes boring into you with something wild behind them. You held his gaze for one beat too long. Two.
Then stepped back.
“Anyway. No match. Final answer.”
You turned with a hum and tossed your voice over your shoulder as the gym door creaked open. “Try meditation or something, big guy. Realign those chakras. Might help with the rage.”
The door clicked shut behind you.
Behind it, there was a sharp, violent sound—an unmistakable, echoing pop. The volleyball in his grip had split open beneath his palm. Rubber and air hissed free from the sudden rupture, the seams blown wide from sheer force. He didn’t even look down at it. Just stood there in the middle of the gym, breath heavy, pulse roaring in his ears, jaw tight enough to splinter.
You were a virus.
But God help him—he wasn’t sure he wanted the cure.

Sorry About My Nan
That was an intense longform. And I have some thoughts:
Firstly, umm... can they not carry chairs normally? Both of them dragging it slowly like that made me laugh. Anyway-
The entire thing was amazing but especially those first few scenes. Such good acting from the get-go! Was this the longest it took for them to establish a storyline in a longform? It felt very "this is the last time I'm doing this" 😂
Luke breaking Sam and AJ with his truly realistic characterisation and "I just feel shattered, you know?" was brilliant
By my count, this is the third time AJ tells Sam to be quiet: "sorry when I fish, I like silence", "silence when hoop", "I just need like- just a bit of- quiet"
"You've got so many teeth." What is it with Tom and teeth? ("hey, I've got everything you've got, but I've also got several more teeth")
Aww Tom trying so hard not to laugh at Luke's "Have you given her adrenaline?"
Sam and AJ simultaneously pointing and saying "that/this way" to the bathroom somehow makes me laugh. Cos they're stressed out and there's this farmhand joyfully looking for his sheep. And Luke making himself laugh at his own sheep vs farmhand interaction is cute
Aahh Tom's facial expressions throughout were incredible!
"Not one seat each." I see Tom's enjoying inconveniencing the others
Not the subtitles calling Sam out on the "numchucks" 😂
Luke was lying face first on the floor for almost 6 minutes. I was initially wondering how Luke didn't break as a corpse, but you can see his body moving as he silently (and sometimes audibly) laughs. It's really cute and he laughs a lot throughout it's kinda funny
Tom was so good as the German stage person (Emcee?) with the incredible physical performance and expressions! Him and Krampus were so similar but so different, I'm in awe
The almost perfect symmetry of Sam and AJ laughing at Tom's "meine little liebchen" 😂
Sam shouting "numchucks numchucks numchucks" as he hits AJ with them is the funniest thing ever. Worse, I'd say, than the "bang bang bang" he called Luke out on in All Eyes on Nigel
AJ's delivery of "I recently found out that my nana is like a cult leader for people in Germany. And that, umm, is so weird" is absolutely stellar. And Luke's movements and smiles as Julie/Lucy were so subtly eerie from the beginning it was wonderful
They managed to stop the "stag"s perfectly, what great intuition!
Tom's "eh!" and shirt throw 😂 I was surprised he had a shirt on at the end
I can't explain it, and it was probably unintentional, but the wedding scene felt like it was still part of the fake scenario tests. Like stepping out almost from behind a curtain to "out there" together, hand-in-hand, and then immediately reaching the altar instead of the bride having the traditional long walk? Then Sam's speech about the mic amplifying which almost sounds like something you'd imagine in a dream or in your head, followed immediately by "I do" when they weren't even asked the question?
They're going to Bergheim straight after, meaning Ethel's successfully indoctrinated them both into her cult. And AJ's best friend isn't there. Was that cos Sam kept questioning Ethel and her methods? Was he banished from the cult? What's happened to him? If it was a normal wedding, you'd expect him to be there. Especially cos they keep reiterating that they're "best friend"s
I'm sure it's supposed to be a happy story but it feels more horror/psychological thriller to me, where the characters think they've reached their happy ending but in reality they're trapped now
#it was so good!#so many thoughts#I didn't imagine this to be this long#I kept getting their names confused (why do they like similar names and the letter J so much) so I've referred to them as Sam and AJ#the last bit was probably unintentional and I'm just reading too far into this#and a lot of their choices were due to it being a comedy and it's on stage#so obviously it's not going to be a realistic wedding#and having Sam's best friend character return wasn't necessary for the plot#but I think it's interesting so I'm leaving it in#sfth#shoot from the hip#sorry about my nan

Yet Another Dead Boy Detective Fic Rec List
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
I've been having so much fun with these, so I've decided to make another! See above for links to my other fic rec lists. ♥️
Like We're Gonna Die Young (Again) by RoseGanymede95
The latest installment in the superb Codependency World Cup series has the boys attend a nefarious house party and grapple with old frenemies, 90s fashion and temporary amnesia. Also fleshes out their achingly sad backstories, but compensates with the triumphant return of Pierre the rabbit.
When I Picture You by Gruoch
Charles gets braceleted by the Cat King instead of Edwin and receives his heart's desire... being alive again. This author has a special gift for taking fun sounding premises and turning the angst up to 11. So excellent.
young blood (never get chained) by ghostinthelibrary
University AU in which half-demon Charles intervenes in Edwin's ritual sacrifice and inadvertently binds their souls together... I'm genuinely obsessed with this AU, it has so much potential for tons of delicious tropes. Human!Edwin getting a crash course in supernatural shenanigans! Soulmate vibes!Found Family! Demon lore! What's not to love??
Ghosts and Monsters by justafandomfollower
Charles is also sacrificed and the boys meet in Hell! Fantastic premise and executed really well. I loved Masterful Edwin taking charge and protecting Charles while inwardly despairing. Highly recommended.
back to back they faced each other by ShanaStoryteller
The Night Nurse has a theory about how Charles was able to rescue Edwin from Hell so quickly... I'm genuinely shocked I haven't recced this one already. Sorry guys, I forgor. Anyway, this has interesting "Guardian" (angel?) lore, great meta and we even get some temporary amnesia as a treat.
boyfriend jacket by skadii
5+1 times Edwin borrowed Charles' jacket. The characterisation is on point, and it has some great OCs (Kyle the snarky seeing-eye cat!) and really sweet payneland moments. Plus Charles' jacket doing its most to annoy the Cat King.
Looking Like the Sunrise by letters_of_stars
Edwin thinks he's cursed so he and Crystal must team up to solve the case of his Mysterious and Suddenly Appearing Rizz. Funny and sweet friendship fic with some quality Edwin-Crystal bonding and discussions of trauma.
The Case of the Anonymous Confession by Mayarenerose
College AU featuring Charles posting an 'anonymous' online confession about his complicated feelings for his bestie. The closet is glass, but Edwin is oblivious and Crystal is in pain. Cute and funny epistolary social media fic done really well.
the middle of something wonderful by KiaraSayre
Does what it says on the tin and gives us a trope salad of cosy vignettes, including a time loop, temporary amnesia, sudden corporality and Crystal and Edwin trying to get a good grade in Party. Wholesome.
My heart is like a haunted house (series) by halffulljampot
Charles (unknowingly) befriends the ghost of Edwin's mother and constantly gushes to her about his amazing best friend/boyfriend. Beatrice is a great OC and it's just nice (though extra tragic) to read a fic in which Edwin had loving parents. Read it for Family Feels and wholesome intergenerational friendship.
the first rule of fight club by e_va
The boys are captured by an evil underground fighting ring. The fic is from Charles' PoV, so the prospect of having to fight Edwin was especially stomach-churning. Still, we get Edwin being a badass and a brilliant surprise cameo I don't want to spoil.
The Case of The... by sophisticatedyet
Edwin borrows Niko's negligee and Charles' brain breaks. There's also a case and giant squids, but Charles' Distracted By The Sexy crisis is the main (hilarious) event.
in those heavy days when love became an act of defiance by aletterinthenameofsanity, JUBE514
Daemon AU and first meeting fic! Loved the worldbuilding, insightful character work and lovely use of Greek mythology. Honestly, this fandom needs more daemon AUs.
spinning around and around in an ocean of grief (your ladder came down to the sea) by Ingi
Prequel to DontOffendTheBees' excellent College AU, expanding on the boys being alive and in school together. Also has its own prequel about their first meeting from Edwin's point of view. This one, though, is a Charles' Bisexual Journey/Feelings Realization fic. So lovely.
head in the clouds but my gravity's centered by shadowquill17
Face Touching: The Fic. I just love non-sexual intimacy in fics and this one is so tender. I also love Accidental Kissing and Feelings Realization so my cup runneth over.
i don't want to rest in peace by handwrittenhello
Different First Meeting fic featuring Poltergeist Charles! Loved the concept, even though it made me sad.
the great snogging debacle of '95 by thatgayprince
Edwin disguises himself as a girl and Charles starts and then defers a sexuality crisis for 30 years. Funny, steamy and emotional.
a beautiful day to say goodbye by ofstitches
The agency take on the case of a depressed house. This is another bittersweet Edwin backstory fic with discussions of grief.
Smitten in the Stacks by cordelianoir
Adorable prequel to lolotr's equally adorable library AU. Meet cute featuring (platonically married) Dad!Charles crushing on the hot librarian who leads Children's Storytime.
Jenny Green: Butcher, Hot Mess, Reluctant Queer Elder by Money_Maker
Jenny-centric fic! The focus is on Jenny and her financial, mental and emotional struggles post-canon, but mentoring Edwin through his queer self-discovery becomes a big part of that. This turns into a really sweet friendship, plus Found Family Feels and some fun outsider PoV of the boys' dynamic.
I've always got more recs so watch this space! ❤️

moonheavens' (wolfstar) fic recs, Nov 24
hello! since my last list of fic recs is now over a year old (Aug 23), I figured it's about time for a new one, especially on the back of the recent discourse about shouting about work you love, which I'm always happy to do.
so without further ado, here are some fics I have "recently" read and loved and whose praises I'd like to sing, very loudly. please do note this only includes wolfstar or multi-ship Marauders fics.
authors, if you want to be untagged, have your fic removed or have the one line summary changed, just message me.
all recs with ao3 links below the break <3
WIPs
All's Fair in Love and Trivia, by @cancerravenclaw ~75k, Explicit, Muggle. exes to lovers years after a huge, painful break-up. I've been eating this up with a spoon and re-read multiple times so far, it's soooo good. really hot ex-sex, yet also handles the complex emotions beautifully, and I love the group dynamics.
The Labyrinth, by QuillNib ~45k, Explicit (check tags), AU. Sirius is forced to sign a contract with an A/B/O breeding facility. really interesting take on omegaverse dynamics, very handmaid's tale vibes. great writing and plot, and keeps you on your toes constantly.
How To Jeopardise Your Friendship With Remus Lupin, by @amberlink ~200k, Teen, Hogwarts. everything you could ever want from a Hogwarts-era best friends to lovers fic. beautifully written, amazing characterisations and also just super funny and sweet. I love this Remus dearly, and this is one of those fics where you drop everything else when the update email comes in.
A Song for the End of the World, by @wannabelilybriscoe ~200k, Mature (check tags), AU. zombie apocalypse wolfstar!! amazing plot so far that really keeps you guessing, with great links to canon yet entirely fresh and inventive. wonderful friendship dynamics and writing, and I would die for this Sirius (but also lowkey steal his man).
Shorter finished works (<30k)
back to the old house, by @saintlupin 20k, Explicit, First War. Sirius, Regulus and Remus get stuck in grimmauld place and have to deal with the tension between them. absolutely beautiful, and painful in all the best ways like only saintlupin can achieve.
Sirius Black and the "mystery girl", by Anonymous 30k, Teen, Hogwarts. the marauders try to guess who Sirius is mysteriously dating. this one is so much fun, really light-hearted and joyful and a great twist with the Lily POV.
What I Heard, by fishcommuter / @fishpilgrim 28k, Explicit, Hogwarts. definition of idiots to lovers; wolfstar acting like a couple and having to be told they're basically dating. light-hearted, sweet, and a lot of fun.
The Barista, the Burglar, and the Sofa, by orphan_account 21k, Explicit, Muggle. summary reads "the story of how Sirius tries to seduce a man by slowly furnishing his flat" and.. that totally checks out. absolutely hilarious and very sweet, and I too would fold if Sirius Black bought me a bookshelf.
Wishes on Stars, by Quietlemonhush and @theresthesnitch 19k, Explicit, AU. Remus makes a wish upon a star and gains a friend. without spoiling too much, this one is a wonderful journey - so sweet, so beautiful, so poetic, so heart-warming.
A Good League Hence, by @eyra 15k, Teen, Muggle. a country hotel in the wintertime. I could put eyra's entire bibliography here as they're incredible, but this is one of my favs. sweet christmas fluff with animals and eyra's ever-incredible writing, just perfect.
June: or how Sirius finally figured himself out, by MarigoldWritesThings / @marigold-hills 15k, Explicit, Hogwarts. does what the title suggests, and wonderfully so. I adore this version of pining yet oblivious Sirius, and the writing here is stunning. tender and heart-warming.
Just a Little Bit of Magic, by @cancerravenclaw 25k, Explicit, Muggle. music journalist Remus falls in love at first sight with model Sirius at a club. flirting ensues. one of my favourites ever - sensual, delicious, beautifully written. the kind of fic I'm grateful exists, and secretly wish I could write.
Tear My Chest Open, by @puuvillaa 22k, Explicit (check tags), Post-Hogwarts. Remus never goes to Hogwarts and meets Sirius, who is taken, in a writing class. complicated feelings ensue. this one was painful, but beautiful. a beautiful expression of care and tenderness.
nothing sweeter than my baby, by damagecontrol 7k, Explicit, Muggle. wolfstar dads on a date night at a Hozier concert, except it's mostly sex. ridiculously hot and sexy, yet sweet and fun. one of my favs if I want something nsfw.
Match Point, by @billspaid 14k, General, Muggle. wolfstar as husbands who are both tennis players, inspired by Challengers. exactly what you want from it; ridiculously fun. competitive yet sweet as they go head-to-head. a blast.
lunch poems, by aeridi0nis / @steelycunt 5k, General, Muggle. tourist Sirius bothers bookstore employee Remus into adoration. aeridi0nis and their gorgeous gorgeous writing never disappoints and this was so much fun. swotty Remus my beloved.
Three Card Monte, by @enjambament 14k, Teen, Muggle. I love heist AU's and this is one of the best ones out there. tensive and exciting the whole way through, and this wolfstar... I want what those bitches have.
The Right Reason, by softsilkentofu 11k, Explicit, Post-Hogwarts. wolfstar get married (as friends) to evade anti-werewolf laws. incredibly funny and heart-warming, with great writing, and a fun twist on fake dating.
Longer finished works (30k+)
Dunes and Waters, by MarigoldWritesThings / @marigold-hills 36k, Explicit, AU. curse breaker/convict Sirius is forced to work with ancient Egypt researcher Remus on a riddle. I loved the mythology aspects of this and the twist on canon, and it was beautifully written.
The Road to Sweetwater, by @euripidestrousers 57k, Explicit, AU. Wild West AU, with outlaw Sirius and bounty hunter Remus. I've been yelling about this one a lot recently - one of my all time favs, beautifully written and so brilliant. I'll be coming back to it for a long time.
The Spy Who Loved Him, by OptimisticDinosaur / @mostlyoptimisticdinosaur 35k, Explicit, AU. James Bond AU, with spy Sirius and 'man in the chair' Remus. intensely exciting and tensive, and so much fun. I really had a great time with this one.
an endless sky of honey, by @colgatebluemintygel 35k, Mature, AU. Greek mythology inspired; Sirius is a God, Remus is a mortal. that's all I'll say, you gotta go into this pretty blind, but it's just. incredible. toothpaste never misses and this one is really special.
through the gaps of sunlight, by grumposaur / @pancakehouse 48k, Explicit, AU. victorian era exes to lovers wolfstar with aristocrat Sirius... this one was so much fun, the yearning! the pining! the longing glances! I ate that shit up with a spoon.
The Waste Land, by afieryfox / @a-fiery-fox 51k, Mature, AU. Remus is a resistance fighter for the Order; Sirius joins the fight. brilliant wartime-wolfstar characterisation and a really tense and engaging plot, plus amazing writing. one of my favs of 2024.
love finds a way, by @littleoldrachel 60k, Mature, AU. Jurassic Park exes to lovers... who doesn't love dinos? Rachel always delivers with her writing and characterisations, and I'm obsessed with these nerdy, mopey versions of R & S.
Lie to Me (Another Secret), by Whoops_e 151k, Explicit, Hogwarts. Sirius is expelled from Beauxbatons and joins Hogwarts late. beautiful fic with a focus on mental health, with amazing dialogue and super tender wolfstar (one of my favs). the bathroom scene in ch40 is everything to me.

Pride and Prejudice (1967) is truly a rollercoaster of emotions but I am mainly having so much fun!
It features so many wonderfully faithful characterisations from the novel and scenes which I adore that are often overlooked or misrepresented.
I almost shrieked in delight when they showed Mr Darcy asking Elizabeth to dance a reel twice, plus there's far more snarky!Darcy and catty!Caroline having fun bad-mouthing everyone, a more book accurate encounter between Mr Darcy and Wickham (they actually meet in the street rather than have Darcy galloping off on horseback... which is far too rude for him imo) and the Darcy & Elizabeth 'what think you of books' exchange at the Meryton ball (LOVE this one so much as it shows a hint of desperate!Darcy).
While the casting is pretty book accurate (apart from Wickham, he should be hotter) and the performances are amazing & align in tone with the novel, there's Mr Collins (luckily tall and young-ish) just acting like he's the sinister villain in a horror movie... (which, in some ways, I suppose he is)
LOOK AT HIM:

I cannot even express how terrifying he is, truly a performance that has to be seen to be believed. Full on, spinning around in a chair, stroking a cat levels of supervillain. Look at those eyes and smile! Horrifying. 10/10 no notes.
#pride and prejudice#pride and prejudice 1967#mr collins#i need to stop watching it before bed because i think im going to have nightmares now#the proposal scene is thr worst thing ive ever seen#and i didn't think a collins could give me the ick more than david bamber's in 1995#but you learn something new every day!#i also love how EXPRESSIVE darcy is#being haughty ≠ never smiling or expressing an emotion on your face lmao#so good! run don't walk to youtube and watch it rn#though maybe not the mr collins episodes after dark. i'm scared#cora watches

Another common Torchwood fanon characterisation that I always find myself frustrated by: this bizarre idea that Jack doesn't have basic living skills like cooking, laundry, grocery shopping etc.
He is over 100 years old. For a significant portion of that time he was in the military, leading other soldiers. For an even more significant portion he was working for Torchwood but not as a leader. I seriously doubt he lived or even stayed more than 24 hours at a time in the Hub before he was the leader. He has lived through an incredible amount of technological and social changes. There is no way he doesn't know how to look after himself in the most basic of ways.
I've always been lazy when it comes to the extended canon stuff, so I've only read/listened to a few of the Torchwood novels/audiobooks or radio plays and I don't know if anything's been established in extended canon, but I genuinely can't imagine that Jack literally lives day to day in the Hub. He's been alive for so long, he must have a flat somewhere in Cardiff. He's an adult man with adult needs and not being in an underground base 24/7 is probably one of them.
And just because he doesn't do the Torchwood laundry doesn't mean he doesn't know how to do it. There is a big difference between not knowing how to cook/do laundry/go shopping/etc for yourself and taking advantage of having an assistant to do those tasks for you at work. Ianto's a bit of a factotum when it comes to the Torchwood team, but acquiring food and drycleaning and restocking is clearly an established part of his job at Torchwood. But that doesn't mean he does that stuff for Jack in Jack's own personal life.
I think a lot of people like to use the "doesn't know how to cook/clean/etc" characterisation to illustrate how Jack is noticeably different from his natively 21st century employees and colleagues. But after 100 years that's something he would be forced to learn how to do (if he didn't already know long before he ended up on 19th century earth). The show illustrates Jack's difference in a much more clever way: his nonchalance at things that to 21st century people are amazing or fascinating or scary, his casual and obvious flirting no matter the gender, his offhand mentioning of things that seem wildly improbable, his knowledge of alien things he shouldn't have knowledge about if he actually were from the 21st century. Jack is weird and fascinating because he looks and sounds and acts like a regular 21st century man (minus the coat) but then you talk to him for a while and you realize something is off. But like I said, he's been on earth for over 100 years, and he's had to fly under the radar generally and also look after himself (and the men he was leading in the military), so I seriously doubt that he would lack those basic life skills.
Jack's weirdness isn't going to be revealed through basic tasks like cooking and cleaning (which I imagine will remain roughly the same in the 51st century, since they have remained roughly the same since the paleolithic era), it's going to be revealed in less common tasks and less common behaviours and less common knowledge.
#i should make a tag for these kinds of posts#torchwood fanon vs torchwood canon vs reality#or something like that idk#i have so many more i could make a series#god i'm such a hater oops#torchwood#jack harkness

Weak Hero Class 2 : A show that hits you hard into a coma — only if you love Season 1 and Yeon Sieun. Otherwise, it's only decent (compared to WHC1).
An honest review of S2's story and writing from someone who loves WHC1
I love S1 as much as the next person (I sure hope my neighbour fuckin watched WHC1). WHC1 is just about perfect in every aspect of film making and script. While still decently directed and written, WHC2 loses much of the quiet ambiance and nuance that made WHC1 all the more poignant, as a show under the action genre. Poignant and action don’t come together often in one sentence, which is why WHC1 stole the limelight for me. WHC1 holds the most mind-boggling balance of emotions, plot, action and characters in its harsh grip.
WHC2 is really loud when it it’s loud, and doesn’t come back down to the level of rumination that makes audiences think on their own part, staring at the black screen of their device and to be emotionally affected, aka screaming crying throwing up, compared to WHC1. There’s quite a bit of telling and not showing, which makes WHC2 lose out on the charm that WHC1 had.
Fight/action choreography:
S1 is amazing. Had me on the edge of my seat. Engaging. What really hooked me about the fight choreography in S1 is that it tells a story about the character in and itself. A good fight sequence should always be able to let the audience in on more of how the character thinks and acts — How Sieun uses his surroundings as an advantage, How Suho is not only adept at martial arts, but also quick to think on his feet. How even the thug Gilsoo fights with savagery and brute strength. WHC1 found nuance in its fight choreography with characterisation.
Though the action scenes in S2 are visually stunning, and I love Sieun’s fight with Seongje on the roof (top 10 action scenes in my life in a series) there’s a point where there’s just a lot of flashbang and no real innate story like a lot of action shows out there. The fights don’t strike the balance of character and action as well as WHC1 do especially with the new characters.
They nearly achieve it with Baku and Baekjin in the finale fight — but unfortunately, we don’t spend just enough time with the duo as kids to understand why they fell out to empathise enough, just why they fight the way they do.
Gotak’s taekwondo style fighting wasn’t shown enough, and neither were his backstory and motivations. This severely bumped down the interest I had in his action sequences.
I must say, I severely enjoy Juntae’s fight scenes. He reminds me so much of Sieun and the juxtaposition of his cuddly character with his tenacity tells a very compelling character story. I am very interested in his backstory, which we don’t get. S3 perhaps?
Character writing and handling:
Everything they do with Sieun in WHC2 — perfect. Yum. Angst. Trauma. How he fights. How he lets the Eunjang Gang in. Which is why I say in my header that WHC2 hits hard only if you love WHC1 and are watching it for Sieun, because we already know well what are Sieun's motivations and feelings. If I were a webtoon fan or just watching S2 as a story on its own, characterisation and development of the new cast fall a tad bit short.
Not going into specifics, but I do wish they extended S2 into 10 episodes, just to get us to understand the new cast better. In S1, we are brought along the ride in real time on how Suho works at a barbecue restaurant part time, how Beomseok suffers from abuse and how Sieun feels so empty + dislikes his parents. In S2, much of what we know about the Eunjang Gang + antagonists are told to us via exposition and dialogue. Telling and not showing is a very big no no in writing circles, as it alienates the audience. Even if there are scenes that give us a glimpse into who they are, it’s not enough and I’m left blinking: you are like my papa
Juntae’s school room with his weeb friends and his iPad wallpaper — amazing, I want more. Why is there only a 5min long scene of that?
Hyuntak’s accident with his knee and Baku going ballistic about it — uh, I want more..? Can I? Please? Don’t give me exposition.
The writers were almost good with how they handled Baku and his relationship with Baekjin. They clearly spent the most effort and time fleshing them out. Baku is the most compelling character this season with all the scenes with his father, the Union and Baekjin. But still, it’s not enough. If I were the writer, I would have dedicated an entire episode detailing Baku's life and he will the character we follow the entire episode. We'll get to know his childhood with Baekjin, how they fallout, how he meets Gotak, a fight scene of him going out against the Union, how Gotak got his knee injured etc, right up till the present timeline.
Given more time, Baku and Baekjin's backstory would have formed a very strong literary foil against Suho and Sieun's history, as both pairs clearly have guilt and trauma from violence. Furthermore, one of the pair taught the other how to fight.
I really would have loved a morally grey antagonist which they shaped Baekjin up to be, but we don’t get anything more than his scene at the orphanage. Then he dies. (Am I just a view to you, writers?)
Lastly, the writers seem to be confused about who is the real protagonist of the season - Sieun or Baku. The writers want to build on both, but the focus becomes convoluted and it messes up the story pacing.
Story pacing (my largest gripe with WHC2):
WHC1 have the same 8 episodes duration and somehow manage to have no extraneous/unneeded scenes. Nothing more or nothing less. Every scene is impactful and matters to either the plot or characters. Right at the midway point of Ep4, WHC1 changes its arc from an external antagonist (Gilsoo) to an internal antagonist (Beomseok and Co).
WHC2 is a little confused with its pace; sometimes dawdling, sometimes fast. I found myself watching along at some scenes only because Sieun was there. Characters entered and left scenes whenever they liked, as though the writers weren't sure what to do to start or end the scene with purpose.
WHC2's quiet scenes don't hit as hard as WHC1's. The lack of in-depth characterisation for the new cast and too much needed world-building in a short span is the cause. WHC1 spent a lot of time only with Suho, Sieun and Beomseok + their antagonists, while WHC2 is rushing to explain all about the Union, the Eunjang Boys and Sieun's continuing trauma. Hence, when they go all quiet and accompany each other, there's not much emotional attachment going around. Imo, a 10 episode season is really needed for an improvement in the pacing and writing, which will make their quiet moments hit harder.
This is even a harsh comment for my standards (because I genuinely love Suho and Sieun's relationship): If the writers wanted to keep to 8 episodes, they should have removed some scenes of Sieun with Suho/reminiscing about Suho. Ultimately, there isn't enough pay-off for all the pining Sieun does and the ending is still the same (Suho returns for 3 minutes in the last episode). Removing one or two scenes would have greatly improved the focus and cohesion of other active characters who matter more in determining the finale of WHC2. Definitely a fair bit of fanservice going on.
Overall comments:
I won't say WHC2 is the worst. On its own, it's fun. It definitely does a more than decent job at reconciling WHC1 with new characters and plot of WHC2. The action scenes are its best features, which is a bummer for me, as the characters were the stars of WHC1. But we're comparing to WHC1 here — WHC1 is unbearably gentle where it needs to be and achingly harsh where it needs to be. Many aspects are concise but well developed at the same time. As a writer and someone who loves films/tv series, I find that WHC1 is truly a masterclass in nuance and writing, especially in the action genre. WHC2 unfortunately, isn't able replicate the delicate balance that WHC1 achieved with the story's highs and lows.
#a little harsh#I still love the season regardless#will be rewatching still#WHC1 will always be peak television for me#ok im done yapping for now#will probably hyperfixate on shse for the following posts#weak hero class 1#weak hero class 2#whc1#whc2#weak hero class one#weak hero class two#kdrama

I'm really pissed off about Bellara's blighted ending, because it hints at SUCH an interesting concept but the game DIDNT ACTUALLY GIVE IT TO US.
Bellara is a wonderful character, I love her design, her characterisation etc. In the trailer I was SO excited to meet her because of the way her VA delivered that line about them being up against our gods. My prediction was that Bellara would be the storylines main vehicle for exploring a) different dalish clan culture and b) the crisis of faith that elves would be experiencing post-evanerus-reveal.
(side note that I'm not going to fully get into here; I'm real upset they gave Bellara and her brother cool variants of Valislin and then never bothered to explain that. I mean, obviously I can read into it that it's clan variants which is SO COOL as it hints at different dalish traditions which we haven't really had before as they are generally treated by DA as a monolith - but then no other dalish elf has different designs to those already established and the clans ARE presented as a monolith. Kinda makes it feel like someone just made a cool art work for her and they decided to run with it because it was cool rather than because it added to the world building but ANYWAY)
Bellara though...she doesn't HAVE a crisis of faith. Not really. There's no moment that she's broken up about what is happening, no moment where she pushes back and refuses to believe what is happening, no moment where she considers joining the gods. Her storyline is about grief surrounding her brother and an utterly annoying side villain and that's...idk. wasteful? Like. I just feel she really should have been used to explore dalish religion in the context of this event.
Instead we just have her being all white guilt about the gods which. Oh boio. Okay. Sure. Let's have the Asian character act like a white Christian teenager finding out about American slavery rather than you know. Acknowledging that the elves are the ones facing systematic oppression in Thedas. That'll go down well I'm sure.
And all of this leads to this final scene which should be amazing, but it just rings hollow. When I watched blighted Neves scene it made me FEEL something; predominantly because her relationship to the city was established. When she tells them to get out of minrathous we know it's important to her; and we feel absolute horror that she was used to destroy her city. It's the accumulation of her story where she is framed as the protector of this place.
But Bellara when she says 'you are not my gods' like. Okay. They're not. But you also gave no indication that they ever were. You seemed to know they were evil from the moment we met you and you just kinda ran with it. You didn't seem to suffer a real crisis of faith, there was no fallout, there was no religious moments of genuine pain or fear or...anything. Sera questioning andrastism in DAI is given more weight than Bellara questioning everything in DATV.
That literally should be the accumulation of a very intense and personal storyline where you feel such intense feelings when you hear her say it. Instead it's just...nothing. they let it be nothing.

I HAVE WATCHED TCOMC 2024 AND I HAVE THOUGHTS
Scenery - beautiful. Shots - amazing. Actors - O.M.G.
I loved them all. Pierre Niney could punch me in the face and I would apologize to him.
The music - I was in heaven. "Le trésor" is my favourite part of the score. I was floating on a croissant.
THEY 👏 INCLUDED 👏 ANDREA 👏
Like actually, most adaptations just don't care and I always liked him as a character both in the book and here.
Also an interesting choice was showing Haydée and Andrea as sort of Count's apprentices/ partners in crime? Like he was usually depicted as this lone wolf, but I feel like this adds to his selfishness, because he basically used them both for his revenge (plus I really liked the sequences when they were rehearsing for every social event they would go to).
I didn't know you could make Noirtier and Bertuccio into one character and also make it a woman? I have seen genderbent Luigi Vampa. I have seen Mondego and Danglars made into one character for simplicity. But that was new and unexpected. Doesn't mean I didn't like it, because I kinda did (very much, it gave Dantés's revenge additional depth, give it up for Angela).
One thing I didn't like was cutting out the Morrel subplot. They literally introduced Maximilian Morrel (as Morrel's grandson, istead of son) and then they did nothing with that. I guess it was just a reference/ nod to those who read the book. Also it makes the version with Gerard Depardieu the most accurate one I have seen so far.
But as a movie, I think this one was the best.
Also why is everyone so set on making Fernand come from a noble family in the first place? It's not the first adaptation to do that and idk what exactly was wrong about Mondego being a fisherman and then earning his title of de Morcerf after being in the military...
I. Lost. My. Marbles. When I saw Abbe Busoni for the first time. Same with Lord Wilmore (here apparently Lord Halifax). Like the characterisation was soooo good! Not to mention the acting...
I was generally in love with the masks and the way Dantés would change appearance.
Also the hint at Eugenie Danglars being lesbian without being excessively loud about it? Perfect.
I loved it all sm and I wish I could watch it every day, but unfortunatelly my access to it on a platform has expired (it was only for 48 hours). I need a DVD or smth

BiAsBuck’s ficrec Fraturday
Hi everyone, how we holding up? I'm coping (ish) with a Ghost Whisperer watch through and an abundance of wonderful fic. Back with another fortnight of fic that I've read and loved recently, and wow there's been some amazing stories! As always you can find previous rec lists here.
14 December 2024
at this fork in the road (I want the path that leads me to you) by @polkadotk804 was recommended to me by an anon (thank you!), and has firmly cemented polkadot as a must read author! A sliding doors split narrative fic, in which in one strand Eddie asks Buck to come with him to El Paso, and in another strand he stays silent. Moving, emotional, full of small and large steps to reconciliation with Chris, Eddie as a brilliant Dad actually thank you very much, and the Diaz parents interfering, this is such a great read.
love letters written by someone else's hand by @moonsharky is so much fun!! After the 118's cameo on hotshots' midseason finale, buck finds himself hooked on the show and binge watches the entire series, quickly immersing himself in the fandom life. He's deep diving on reddit and stumbles across RPF of him and Eddie (aka Nurse 1 & 2) and curiosity strikes. Joyful, and brilliantly done.
beating the horse by @doitbuckley in which Eddie is moving to Texas, and looking back at his various 1.0 2.0 upgrades, Buck finally figures out what he wants. But of course first he has to spiral hard, whilst trying not to let on that that's just what he's doing. Oh this hurt so much, but was so good. Buck just absolutely ripping himself to shreds whilst Eddie quietly self combusts in the background. So so satisfying, and I loved the open endedness of it all. Wonderful work!
the sweetest possible lie by @wildehacked Chris’s fifteenth birthday falls on a Tuesday, and it couldn’t be more different from last year. Eddie and Buck take him to dinner to celebrate, and an assumption from the waitstaff leads Chris in a bout of teenage grandiosity to ask why Buck still denies being his father figure when people suggest it. This is short but packs a punch, and has such a clever and sympathetic eye on youthful wilfulness, as well as the balancing act that Buck and Eddie are on.
Somethings Said (to turn you inside out) by taegyungie absolutely KILLED ME with the sexual tension, my goodness, I kept having to pause to catch my breath. During the end scene in 8x08, Buck catches Eddie on Grindr, gets confirmation he's started sleeping with men...and now Buck can't stop thinking about it. Absolutely unable to stop his curiosity, he finds himself drawn to Eddie's profile, and soon casual chatting leads to more. Absolutely sizzling hot, and the voice and characterisation of their teasing friendship developing was so gorgeous.
bad luck to talk and the strangers by jaekyu both incredible! In BLTT, we get thee most miscommunicating dummies fic - in which buddie start having casual sex in the midst of season 8 but do not talk about it, just add it to the mix of their friendship. Eddie is convinced this means they are dating, Buck thinks it must be a case of fwb as Eddie can't love him. They both reexamine with the benefit of hindsight. It's hot, compelling, and full of aching romantic tension. In The Strangers, we have them coping with Eddie moving to El Paso by hooking up, and then Eddie running, with Buck later visiting, and the cycle repeating. It's so much connection and hope and pain, and beautiful, with some A+ Eddie thesis statements.
and i fell (like a dead body falls) by fearofgod oh my god this one near broke me 😭 Buck and Eddie are on their first date, when the ground literally drops out from beneath their feet in an explosion at the restaurant. Both badly injured, they rely on each other to help those they're trapped with, whilst life slowly drifts ever further away. I realised as I was reading that I hadn’t checked for a MCD tag and was genuinely like oh god what if they actually die? (Don't worry, there's a hope!) I really adored the characterisation of them both being already all in on their relationship, and the weight of their friendship and working partnership history coming to the fore in the crisis, and yet that they were still figuring things out and on the cusp of feelings actualisation. Literally an edge of your seat, heart in your mouth read and some absolutely stellar hurt/comfort fic.
I have had enough of crime by @lamardeuse will I ever get enough of Josh and Eddie gay yoda worsties? Not likely! The author sums this up brilliantly as 'Josh's view of Eddie's journey in 8A and beyond through the gay Olympic sport of competitive brunching.' Delightfully bitchy but also forging a solid foundation of quiet friendship and support, I loved this so much.
I should be pushing daisies by @exhuastedpigeon ooooh this was so healing. With Eddie leaving for Texas, Buck is still in LA and at the 118, and pining. He leans on the people around him, Bobby, Maddie and long calls with Eddie over facetime. All he needs now is a Christmas miracle. The perfect warm hug of a holiday fic.
That's all for now, see you soon for Christmas recs!

Have you seen transformers one? If so what did you think of it? I saw it twice!
I JUST came back from watching it, so uh, residual high but
It’s amazing? Like goddamn they did so much with what time they were given? The characterisation, the voice acting, the plot, not to say it’s twists and turns, it’s completely what you expect and still they managed to surprise me.
For once in modern iterations, they listened to some of the gripes fans had about the way Optimus Prime is depicted and actually did him RIGHT.
Prime comes from the SAME STATION as Megatron, he sees and experiences the injustice firsthand. He’s not a conflicted cop enforcing a system or a pacifist librarian sheltered from it, and god bless, both iterations were interesting to explore, but it positioned him as ‘above’ the dregs Megatron had to slave in and automatically made him more obtuse to class oppression/made us initially more sympathetic to blue collar-coded Megs. He’s not speaking from a place of privilege. The pain of the underclass is HIS pain too.
Prime is the DYNAMIC one in this duo. He’s the one who starts shit, the one unwilling to accept his lot in life and the one who bucks against protocol for sake of his friends.
Prime is the RADICAL as opposed to Megatron who starts out as more of a follower until he finds out the truth about their system. Prime questions the system far earlier than Megatron ever does, and Prime choosing hope and mercy over wrath and vengeance is framed as his strength, not a naïveté or weakness.
Prime and Megatron start out arm in arm, best friends suffering the same injustices, and what defines them is what they choose to do about it once they’re given the power and ability to enact changes; Prime wants a better Cybertron for everyone, Megatron just wants to burn everything in bloody revenge because HE was lied to and he doesn’t care how many die in his path to get there. He also makes it very clear that he doesn’t intend to fix the system—he simply perpetuates it with a different hierarchy, one which his newly-gifted strength places him on top of.
This Prime is a hero because of his actions from the first scene, not because we, as an audience, are told that is what he is just because he’s Optimus Prime.
You understand why he was chosen even if he didn’t ask for or seek the Matrix out for himself (the only reason he initially seeks it out is as a way to restart the natural production of energon on Cybertron so miners don’t have to slave underground their whole lives anymore. He seems wholly unaware or dismissive of the power it could give him, he doesn’t pine for it for anything other than what it can do FOR OTHERS, because per Faramir’s words: “I don’t love the sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness nor the warrior for his glory, I only love that which they defend”)
THIS IS THE PRIME WE DESERVE and I am so glad the writers GOT IT SO RIGHT
I’m planning a second watch for sure! I unfortunately had to escape the cinema to the loo during Alpha Trion’s big reveal and I wanna watch a second time just to catch every detail I missed.

Hi! I saw your tags on a post talking about car trouble as one of the great good omens fics and I've put it on my tbr! I wasn't really active in the fandom after season 1 so I feel like I missed out on all the great fics. I know about Demonology and Slow Show and I know about others from Aziraphale'sLibrary from their classics tag. But I was wondering what your list would be, your list of what the best and greatest good omens fics are. I'm young, so I have time to read lol
GASPS I HAVE RECS COMING OUT MY EARS @queenofthearchipelago, BUCKLE UP KID💕
this will be a mixture of genres and a lot of them are well known so may well already be on the AL classic lists (but, well, theyre classics for a reason imo) but im just gonna dump them here; these are literally just off the top of my head so won't be very coherent/in order - i'll give the links and ratings, but will leave you to peruse the synopses directly (most will be human AUs, they're my particular favourites), just to save making what will be a huge post even longer!!!
Car Trouble (E)
Petrichor and Parchment (E)
Memory of Eden (M) (and its sequels - imo The heartbreak series of all time. i sob like a baby) (it's written pre-s1 release, so book!omens, but i find it relatively easy to re-imagine if tv!omens is how you imagine them too etc) (no seriously if i ever get any fic professionally bound into a physical book, it's this series)
For Want of a Seed (T) (and also a huge shout out to Right of It also by cassieoh but it's unfinished - ive had it open as a tab in my phone for like a year? in the fervent hope it'll be updated, which fair enough if it isn't!!! but it's beauuuutiful)
Stranger in Paradise (E)
Infernal Bodyguard (M)
Wicked Thing series (E) (and anything by phoenix_soar, frankly. just... damn🫠)
i then also want to shout out a couple of fics from some amazing people on tumblr here (listed in no particular order!) which you may have already seen? but definitely worth mentioning because they're similarly insaneeee:
Shoot to Thrill and Learning on the Job (both E) and tbh anything by @teddybearbutchh, otherworldly affinity for not only writing in general, she's so talented, but her smut is 🫠
How Do We Turn On The Light? (M) by @moonyinpisces is soooo good as a post-s2 fic, she's really captured how i personally imagine aziraphale and crowley to act after the feral domestic, i love her characterisation!
The Loophole (E) by @fellshish is a different take post-s2 but incredibly funny and the apology dance is. life changing
Chemistry (E) by @twilightcitysky, i simply revisit their works time and time again, but this one is a particular favourite!!!
and im sure there are some lovelies that might read this and want to add their recommendations too, or self promote???💕✨ but these are my faves, like i said, right off the top of my head!!!
