Amulet of Avalor questions and plotholes
Cedric grew up with Tilly and Roland, soooo...
...Did Cedric know that Tilly had the amulet before Sofia?
In the pilot, when he saw Sofia had the amulet and learned from her that Roland gave it to her, he was genuinely shocked that the amulet had been in the palace all those years after he'd been studying and obsessing over it for so long.
Maybe Tilly acquired it after she left the castle to become an adventurer (I can't remember if it said). Or if she had it as a youth and Cedric knew she had it, maybe he thought she'd taken the amulet with her?
...Come to think of it, why did Tilly leave the amulet behind? And why didn't Elena choose Tilly as the one to save her, especially since Tilly was also a Storykeeper? I hc Elena didn't send Sofia the dream/visions that led her to Avalor to set Elena free- which happened in s3- until she was absolutely sure Sofia was the right one, and Sofia had obviously proven herself by then... so, how did Tilly presumably fail to prove herself?
And the decades Elena was in the amulet, it fell into many other princesses' hands. Why were none of them chosen to be the one to save Elena? And how did the amulet even get acquired by so many other princesses?
Also, the amulet was in the castle's jewel room when Sofia arrived at the palace. Roland had gone in there to look for a something special to gift Sofia as a welcome gift. Elena got Roland's attention by letting the amulet sparkle or light up, or whatever, so he could see it. But how did Elena even know about Sofia's arrival and that Roland was looking for a welcome gift for her... unless he was talking to himself/thinking out about it while trying to decide?

Wei Wuxian dead for thirteen or sixteen years .... Soul can't be summoned... What if the stygian tiger amulet wasn't the only reason he lost control? What if... Mount Tonglu had opened? And what if the reason Wei Wuxian's spirit couldn't be contacted was because he was carried by the flood of resentful creatures to mount Tonglu, all this to say, ghost king!WWX.

bug tumblr needs more flowers in the dirt love so after returning to it this week and unable to shake off the inherent haunting of it, i just need to inject this into the atmosphere.
this album is full of grief and mourning. its an elegy, a metaphorical burial of a loved one. but it also has this element of otherworldiness, like the main objective is communing with the dead in a futile hope of revitalization.
it haunts like those horror stories of desperate mourners left behind trying everything in the hours after their loved ones’ death to revive them.
that paul starts it 8 years after john’s death just shows that the shadows of grief can be long and unwieldy. the title itself suggests the time passed since the burial, flowers in the dirt. the flowers laid down by mourners on a burial site that have dried and started decomposing over many years as they join the soil.
but it also is cathartic in the way that fully feeling grief after burying it for years can yield. in that way, the burial is also an unearthing of emotions many years buried. to feel them, look at them, to hold them in your hands like you would dried flowers, and then lay them back to rest more peacefully.
but the looking at them lasts one moment too long, becomes a reviling in the afterlife and a brief longing to join the dirt like pulling covers over your head. you have to walk away feeling shame and guilt over it and the haunting persists. more subtle, the emotions more manageable, perhaps more tamed or understood, but still lingering like a fog in the night. you just get used to this haunting, you allow the ghost to make a home on your shoulder and it becomes easier to go on with life, day by day.

Concept art wip, very bare bones but it’s ok 😔 this post is also a lore post for my au! It’s all jumbled up bc I was talking to a friend about it so it’s literally just copy and pasted
Edit: I didn’t realize how unreadable it was omg sorry, I edited it to make more sense
Amulet AU ideas
- Trellis is 23 yrs old just two years older then Emily
- He is kinda timid with being a king since he doesn’t want to be like his father but he has his brother as his right hand man and ofc Emily ✨ he’s alittle annoyed that there’s so much paperwork that involves being a king lol
- As he grew up he had more of his fathers facial structure much to his dismay making him become even more scared of being like his father
- But so far he’s doing well and even having an amazing king voice ( think commanding and not taking any questions abt his choices )
- Riva and Emily become good friends later on and basically trauma bond
- Luger is happy to assist with his brother with anything but is mostly seen in the library either writing or reading books
- Navin and Karen live in a newly rebuilt palace with Emily and trellis and are trying to fit in now that this is basically their forever home
- Some elves aren’t happy with Trellis’s ruling but they are often shut down by other residents/elves as this was the first time they had peace in years
- Loyalists / nobles, were the ones who profited off of the old Kings rule, Ikol had given them a lot of leniency for taxes and for whatever illegal activity they were up to
- As long as they didn’t look too closely at his illusion of the elf king being alive he was content
- as long as they bicker and mutter to themselves Trellis doesn’t care about the slander they throw his way
- But he is keeping an eye on them courtesy of Leon
- Leon acts as a chief of security / intelligence
- Often Emily will confide to him whatever she has on her mind or to vent since she sees him as a father figure / mentor
- Virgo is kinda in the shadows not exactly a hermit but quite close, he doesn’t like company aside from Navin, Emily, Miskit, Cosgly and Trellis
- He will sometimes help people who have their own stones to control them and keep their sanity
- But he just prefers his own solitude
- Every stone keeper in this au has their amulets symbol on their back, depending if their amulet has an elemental power it will be engraved onto their back ( example: Emily has burn scars )
- Emily and Trellis each have each others amulet symbols on their hands ( Emily’s left and Trellis’s right )

Sofia The First - Get That/My Amulet (Storyboards)
So, the thing is: These storyboards can only be accessed via a Wayback Machine link. The original site has been deleted and this is the only way to access it. When I go to the website to see the storyboards and it takes a while to load, I'm always afraid that it's been deleted. So to not lose the STF storyboards, I decided to post them here on Tumblr as a backup. The quality isn't that good because Tumblr's image limit is 10, and these storyboards in total have almost 60 images, so I tried to put them all in the same images (it worked, but they're small). All credit goes to the artists who worked on the project and Disney.

I understand why a bunch of people are worried about Block by Block. MCSM meant a lot to them, and they want to ensure that this promising project does the original justice.
I think some people are putting too much faith in a fanmade project. It's gotten to the point where Block by Block is being held to a higher expectation than the original game it's based on. They see it as some sort of savior, something to free us from the seemingly failure that'll be the Minecraft Movie.
But then on the other hand, I see so many people being overly critical of it. Looking for every little issue, nitpicking the details that they don't like. An adaptation like this of a Choose Your Own Adventure game is bound to offend some people. People are mad because the creators are teenagers and young adults. There's problems with the character designs, the story changes, and everything under the sun.
Sure, the people working on it are young and inexperienced. But weren't we all, once?
Maybe it won't be the same as the Minecraft: Story Mode that we hold near and dear to our hearts, but that doesn't make it necessarily bad. It might not be perfect, but at least it's got a soul. Unlike some movie trailers I might fail to mention.
All of this to say: A little bit of faith in Block by Block. That's what the fandom needs. A slice. A sliver. Just a bit of faith.
We all like MCSM. No need to fight.
(super sorry to admin for having to deal with all of the block by block stuff)

I'm not gonna lie I'm a bit nervous for Block by Block: The Amulet. I went on a bit of craze trying to find out as much as I could about it and most of these could be outdated by now but it made me question some things. (This is really about Petra and Lukas)
I really hope this isn't going to be a Petra fest like how season 2 of MCSM was, don't get me wrong I love Petra she's one of my favs but I really want each member of Jesse's gang to have the spot light, especially with how Olivia and Axel got written out in the original.
I'm not sure how they're gonna manage Petra cuz I don't think she gets sick or at the very least not until much later on. I'm not too too worried about this change, honestly I prefer it, I just hope it's done well.
Lukas' character. I read that they have plans to make him basically more of a stereotypical cool dude which really concerns me. I view Lukas (at the start) being a bit arrogant, air headed and a lil cowardly, then as the story goes on he figures out how to overcome his vaults. Also he's a huge nerd, as opposed to the Minecraft version of a jock. I wouldn't mind him being more mean tho.
The thing that bothered me the most is where they said they'd make him known for being a skilled fighter which I feel like is kinda steeling one of Petra's traits, I hope they keep the architect thing he has going for him at the very least.
Another thing about the whole fighting thing is their fighting styles. Each character has a unique way they use combat which I find really cool. Like Axel having TNT and fists, Olivia having redstone and a bow or Ivor with his potions (his fight was so cool), Petra having the more traditional sword and Lukas mainly using his bow. I really hope they don't diminish this and just have them all fighting with a sword.
In a post they said they changed the character designs on how much they changed the characters personalities but later they did hold a poll asking what people like about the story and the majority answered the characters. So I hope they don't change them too much just enough so that they have more depth.
I'm still really excited for this project and even if everything I'm concerned about is true I'll still support it. As far as I know they've been working on this for about 5 years now and honestly I'm really impressed so I'm gonna keep an open mind :)
Most of this stuff was said years ago but you can never be too careful ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(Also why is Lukas wearing a cardigan? The greaser aesthetic gone 😞)

The Amulet of Avalor and the 'Disney' princesses
So, I've talked a bit about how confusing the Amulet of Avalor is from a storytelling perspective (see these two posts).
But the amulet's lore regarding princesses is REALLY confusing. @nox-in-a-box brought this up this morning on Discord (comparing dialogue about how the amulet connects princesses in s3's 'Beauty Is the Beast' and the 'Once Upon a Princess' pilot);
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this inspired me to talk about how confusing the overall connection between the amulet and princesses is (both as part of that conversation earlier with Nox on Discord and in this post rn), because it's definitely something I've thought about often!
Ok, so. (1) We know none of the 'Disney' princesses wore the Amulet of Avalor in their og canon films.
(2) So, how did they know about the amulet and that it magically summoned them to help Sofia?
(3) How did each princess that was summoned to Sofia know Sofia's name, and even in some occasions, what her problem was?
(4) Referring to question #3 directly above, I always assumed this was part of the amulet's magic, automatically allowing a summoned princess to know the name of the other princess in need of help/advice when they arrived... but then, how come during the few times Sofia's amulet summoned her to help another princess, she never automatically knew anything about that princess's name or situation? She had to have them told to her.
(5) And I know the whole discussion of how the Disney princesses fit into the StF universe has been discussed to death, but I feel like that's all part of the plotholes in the lore that connects the amulet to all the princesses. I personally think they're not spirits... but that each of them exist in their own separate realms beyond the EverRealm (but even this theory makes you scratch your head when you think about how a couple of them come from RL locations on Earth, like Scotland and New Orleans), and that each of them and their respective adventures are legends/fairytales in the EverRealm...
(6) ...(to continue directly from #5) But even that doesn't entirely make sense, because how do you explain the three Good Fairies at Royal Prep (who are ofc associated with Aurora), and the Wicked Nine from s4's Mystic Isles/Protector arc (nine powerful artifacts belonging nine of the most evil Disney villains)?? Heck, the crown of Snow White's evil queen stepmother, which was also one of the Wicked Nine, was part of the Dunwiddie Museum's crown exhibit in 'In Cedric We Trust' (which raises SO many questions in itself)!

The Amulet of Avalor: A blessing and a curse in the new series.
I have a feeling they're going to end up having to reduce the narrative influence of the Amulet of Avalor.
When it comes to the amulet, it's possible that they reduce its powers in some way. Or magically signals that Sofia no longer needs it, and that it should look for a new carrier, breaking her promise for the greater good.
( Or will it continue in the family? Will Miranda and Roland have a new member in the family? An adopted child, or perhaps a baby? Perhaps Aunt Tilly and Sir Bartley will have a child and Sofia will present the child with the amulet. )
Perhaps Sofia loses the amulet, implying that the amulet would be found by a new princess without Sofia having to break her promise.
Or, in a more "dark" alternative, the amulet becomes defective or breaks completely. Making it impossible for it to be used by her.
( Until it is fixed in a convenient way, so that it doesn't break the lore logic about the amulet being worn by multiple Disney princesses.)
Because its powers if they were "unlocked" at the grand finale of Sofia The First, and with Sofia's character development, the chances of her being cursed by it are reduced.
And if Sofia, using the Amulet of Avalor, doesn't have many challenges for her, what will the next challenges be?
On the merchandising front: if they decide to reuse the amulet, it's possible it will get an updated look.
If it already changed color during the series after Elena was freed from inside it, it's likely that it will undergo design changes in the new series as well.
( Whether it will get better or worse is debatable.)
What if they decide that the amulet is no longer viable as a recognizable source of merchandising? And that they need something more iconic and unique for the new series?
They will probably come up with some excuse as to why the amulet is no longer present, and have come up with a new "more magical and fantastic " item for Princess Sofia.
( Which also, will be equally debatable whether the change will be for the better or worse.)
And you guys? What do you think about this? I would like to know your opinion.
