I think horror podcasts should make cassette tapes of their shows.
Just the thought of pretending to put some "random" cassette into a seemingly old cassette player and listening to the horrors unfold is something I crave.

The Nazis were all into the metaphor of society as a body that must be purified of pathogens, kind of ironic that the actual body is by number more non-human cells than human ones, can't function properly without them, and some of the most dangerous illnesses are caused by human cells not behaving as they should (cancers, autoimmune disorders). Not that I think the human body actually is a useful metaphor for society but the Nazis didn't even get it right.

children realize a lot more than you think
be wiser and kinder towards them, if you could
I take things too far - my mom and I were cooking in the kitchen when I found a much smaller bell pepper among the regular sized ones.
I showed her the cute baby bell pepper and she said, "aw it was picked before it was finished growing."
and I reflected on this bell pepper analogy :
what is an adult if not just an older being with more experience than a younger one?
but a lot of times adults hold too many expectations for children and that experience alone can cause the child to grow up too soon.
so when they question the world around them and the adult fails to get their message across, the young are quickly dismissed.. a child is too young to possibly understand, right?
not realizing the 'adult' is just too incomprehensive to relay a child's understanding, abandoning their inquisitive spirit.
so now these younger beings have been shown the real world without an explanation. they understand to their own extent whatever concept they've been taught.
their mind matures faster than their anatomy and it's because of this that they are dismissed quickly. The child can be involved and exposed to the toxicities of their environment but are not old enough to have a voice?
and of course, the younger being will express itself because the unfairness in this world can be recognized and the world has not yet shamed it for feeling (until it does).
these little bodies have big minds that get crucified because "the adult is always right" - diminishing all confidence and curiosity that makes a person real and an individual.
can you remember how aware you were as a child before you were filtered and silenced by your peers and the world around you?
if you were picked before you were finished growing, it is possible to find yourself again or maybe find a new you, whoever you are today or want to be tomorrow.
but listen, my little bell pepper, you will never find out if you stay in the same garden you were picked from.
I take things too far - and this is in no way a reflection of my mom she's great

Thanks for letting me know about how dangerous the campground was! Dw, I got out safely. Turns out the police had received a whole bunch of reports of a wild bear in the area so they came over and dealt with it! Unfortunate that I didn’t see an alternate (maybe? Idk how fortunate it is).
I’m currently taking up lodge at a nearby hotel, but it’s kinda covered in this red vein-y plant matter. After taking a good nap, I woke up to this fellow on my doorstep!
Is this an alternate?
Tumblr media
Seems to be so- though I’m not too familiar with seeing one so deformed, it’s either puppeting a corpse or simply mimicking a dead body? Dunno why it has exposed flesh like that- Never seen it before! But I’m glad you got out safe! I’d suggest locking any entrance and being quiet. Just to be safe!! Sorry to hear about the bears, by the way!
Stay safe, Ghostly!

ngl whenever I see people try to argue that things like adhd, depression, anxiety, etc aren’t expressions of neurochemistry but are instead a reaction to capitalism or something diabolically stupid like that, it always makes me think of this old tweet:
Tumblr media
if aliens landed on the planet tomorrow and their only measurement of earth culture was our posts, they’d probably think capitalism is a synonym for general malaise.

"I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was Ee Gee, the amazing editor, and another fig was Europe and Africa and South America, and another fig was Constantin and Socrates and Attila and a pack of other lovers with queer names and offbeat professions, and another fig was an Olympic lady crew champion, and beyond and above these figs were many more figs I couldn't quite make out. I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn't make up my mind, which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet."

Not to keep repeating what’s already been said, but: I think a lot of the dismissal of AFO’s "chops" as a villain tends to come from fans who simply don’t want to acknowledge that Tomura is his victim-- Or rather, appreciation of AFO as a villain seems directly proportional to how willing a person is to explore Tomura’s victimhood.
Like… pretty much everything about AFO’s treatment of Tomura is utterly skin crawling when you give it more than a passing glance and start to delve into the effects it has had (and still has!) on Tomura's beliefs and behavior. imho AFO is a villain who just gets worse and worse every time you reread the series, because with each reread you end up noticing ways he’s violated Tomura that might not have been immediately apparent during the first read through. He's a villain that inspires a sense of intense revulsion that sets him apart from the other villains in the series-- because the ultimate trap he laid for Tomura didn't actually hinge on Tomura "hating everything," it hinged on Tomura genuinely loving and trusting him and not even remotely anticipating that AFO would ever violate that trust. He sprung a trap that took advantage of Tomura's capacity for love, because AFO knew that Tomura would continue to walk towards him and view him as a comforting figure no matter how fuckin' ominous things looked:
Tumblr media
"Come to me, now" and Tomura does, without the slightest bit of hesitation and without even questioning what he's seeing. Like. It's the way four little words can make you instantly nauseous bc of the far reaching implications they have for this dynamic.
So like. AFO is a “bad” villain in their eyes because acknowledging his worst acts of evil means you’ve gotta acknowledge exactly what he’s been doing to Tomura this whole time— and everything just sort of falls apart from there.
