Dragon Age Fandom Survey: Veilguard Edition RESULTS
Before getting into the responses of this survey, I would like to remind/clarify everyone of a few things:
There is naturally bias from the reach this survey had; while I encouraged people to share it outside of Tumblr, we must remember that the vast majority of the responses are still from Tumblr users specifically. Meaning, this survey cannot account for the DA fandom as a whole across the entire internet.
There was a very drastic difference in the number of responses from people who played a different Dragon Age game before DATV, and those who played DATV first. This means there is a sample size bias. I anticipated this, and it’s why I did separate questions in hopes to compensate at least a little, but it’s something to still keep in mind.
If you would like to view the full spreadsheet of all unfiltered results, you can do so HERE.
Anyone who I caught misgendering Taash and/or misgendering Weekes the writer in the comments was immediately disqualified.
With that out of the way, let’s get into it!
PREVIOUS DRAGON AGE GAME EXPERIENCE
Only 2% of respondents have never played any other Dragon Age game besides Dragon Age: The Veilguard (DATV). 92% of respondents have played all three past games. 97% have at least played Dragon Age: Inquisition (DAI).
ROOK
LINEAGE/RACE SELECTION
While elf was the most popular answer for both set of respondents, brand new DA players were somewhat more likely to choose a human Rook, and not a single new player respondent chose a dwarf Rook.
Respondents with prior game experience selected the following lineages/races for their first DATV game:
Human: 19%
Elf: 59%
Dwarf: 11%
Qunari: 11%
Respondents without prior game experience selected the following lineages/races for their first DATV game:
Human: 30%
Elf: 57%
Dwarf: 0%
Qunari: 13%
FACTION SELECTION
The Shadow Dragons were the most popular for respondents with prior game experience, while the Veil Jumpers were the most popular for brand new DA players. Prior players were least interested in the Lords of Fortune, while new players were least interested in the Mourn Watch.
Respondents with prior game experience selected the following factions for their first DATV game:
Grey Wardens: 16%
Shadow Dragons: 24%
Veil Jumpers: 15%
Mourn Watch: 19%
Lords of Fortune: 10%
Antivan Crows: 17%
Respondents without prior game experience selected the following factions for their first DATV game:
Grey Wardens: 8%
Shadow Dragons: 14%
Veil Jumpers: 30%
Mourn Watch: 10%
Lords of Fortune: 12%
Antivan Crows: 26%
ROOK SATISFACTION
Respondents for whom DATV was their first Dragon Age game were far more likely to be satisfied with Rook as a protagonist than those with prior game experience.
Respondents with prior game experience felt the following satisfaction with Rook:
Very unsatisfied: 27%
Somewhat unsatisfied: 21%
Neutral: 7%
Somewhat satisfied: 21%
Very satisfied: 24%
Respondents without prior game experience felt the following satisfaction with Rook:
Very unsatisfied: 11%
Somewhat unsatisfied: 20%
Neutral: 6%
Somewhat satisfied: 19%
Very satisfied: 44%
I wanted to see if there was any correlation between Rook creation options and satisfaction. So, I filtered responses based on the previous questions and found the following:
There was not much difference in responses based on lineage/race
There was some interesting differences based on faction: Grey Warden players were the most to respond with “very unsatisfied” (36%), with Shadow Dragon players close behind (31%). For every other faction, the satisfaction results were parallel to the overall responses.
ROOK COMMENTS
Here is some of the commonplace praise for Rook as a protagonist:
Strong and charming voice acting performances.
Rook has lots of room for players to come up with their own ideas and interpretations.
Rook has great trans/enby representation options both in charater creation and roleplay dialogue.
Rook fits the setting and narrative well; Rook is “the heart of the team”.
Rook has a “great personality”.
Rook was commonly compared to Hawke in a positive manner.
Here is some of the commonplace critique for Rook as a protagonist:
Rook has “no personality” and not enough of a backstory.
Rook has a “set personality”.
Rook does not have enough space to play with strong opinions on critical issues, compared to previous games.
Rook is unable to be nasty/mean-spirited.
Rook was commonly compared to Hawke in a negative manner.
Rook should’ve had more reactivity based on their background.
Overall, Rook seems to be a very divisive figure. It is interesting to see how different people view positives and negatives of Rook’s character in complete contrast with each other. For example, many people said they like or dislike that Rook is a “blank slate to project on”, while many other people said that they like or dislike that Rook has a “set personality”. Yes, those things both came up as things people enjoyed and things people did not enjoy.
COMPANIONS
COMPANION SATISFACTION

Companions are integrated into the main story well.
Companions are fun to build relationships with doing simple things, like feeding birds with Taash or visiting graves with Emmrich.
Companions feel relatable.
Here is some of the commonplace critique for the companions and their personal quests:
Companion quests lack impact.
Companions lack romantic content.
Some companions feel like they received unequal/unfinished content compared to others.
Taash’s questline specifically received a lot of criticism for what many respondents consider a poor handling of multiculturalism.
FACTIONS
FACTION SATISFACTION

FACTION COMMENTS
Here is some of the commonplace praise for the factions and their related quests:
Factions are a good way of introducing different cultures in Thedas.
Factions offered good opportunities for role-playing.
Here is some of the commonplace critique for the factions and their related quests:
Factions lack any “grey morality” or “internal conflict”.
Some factions feel like they received unequal/unfinished content compared to others.
Factions feel more like a mechanic than a natural part of the world-building.
The Antivan Crows specifically received a lot of criticism for being written as much more heroic and good-natured than in previous games.
The Shadow Dragons specifically received a lot of criticism for being “too passive” against Tevinter inequalities.
MAIN STORY
MAIN STORY SATISFACTION

MAIN STORY COMMENTS
Here is some of the commonplace praise for the main story:
The story has a satisfying ending.
The story feels “deeply impacting” and “emotional”.
The story has a good pace with lots of replay value.
The main story features the best quests in the game.
Here is some of the commonplace critique for the main story:
The story has an unsatisfying ending.
The story feels disconnected from the previous games / suffers from a lack of worldstate choices from previous games.
Many respondents are unhappy with the off-screen destruction of Southern Thedas mentioned.
Many respondents are unhappy with the racism, islamophobia, and orientalism found in the handling of the Antaam, specifically.
PREVIOUS OTHER DRAGON AGE MEDIA EXPERIENCE
Most respondents have engaged with at least some other form of Dragon Age media, with the most common being the animated show, Dragon Age: Absolution (57%). This is followed by the anthology book, Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights (49%). Only 13% of respondents said they have never had any experience with any extra Dragon Age media.
TEVINTER NIGHTS
Because Tevinter Nights (TN) established a lot leading up to DATV, I was very curious to see if that had any impact on DATV perceptions specifically. My one regret here is that I forgot to include Aelia in the list of characters who first appear in TN. Whoops.
In most cases, TN readers responded more positively to supporting characters who first appeared in the anthology, than non-readers.

TEVINTER NIGHTS INTO VEILGUARD SAMPLE COMMENTS
“Tevinter Nights painted a picture of a bleak world, but filled with tons of interesting people. Many of them have the same feeling both in DATV and the book (I think only Irelin and Strife didn't, really). Tevinter Nights set up the atmosphere I missed in the game. It set expectations that didn't make it into the game. But it's a must read, especially when plunging into Veilguard.”
“I love Teia and Viago as characters best overall, but did not feel like they were introduced well in game in a way that would allow them to stand on their own the way Antoine and Evka were.”
“Strife should’ve had his Scottish accent.”
“I would have loved to get more of Mean Girl Irelin. She had way sharper teeth in the book.”
“I was really, really excited for Neve after Tevinter Nights, because I'm a disabled woman, and I still liked her in Veilguard but I do wish there'd been a bit more to her from a disability lens.”
“Tevinter Nights had so much more horror than Veilguard even tried to deliver. The Crows were delightfully messy and Viago was so unwell I’m in love with him. They hinted at Lucanis having complicated feelings about his grandmother that I was looking forward to exploring more, but which got dropped pretty much immediately. (The idea that even the prodigy grandson of the First Talon got tortured as part of his training is exactly the kind of fucked-up Crow lore that I expected and wanted to see more of.) I really loved all the hints at weird and scary threats we’ve literally never seen before (the head-stealing monster in the Minrathous gardens??), but none of that got followed up on.”
“As with previous books, there were several characters I found more compelling and interesting in the book than the game. Books have more freedom to do that, to be fair, but Strife in particular felt like a completely different character in the game.”
OTHER MEDIA INTO VEILGUARD SAMPLE COMMENTS
“I think that Veilguard’s depiction of the events of Last Flight and its principal character of Isseya was probably one of the most offensive parts of the story, as it felt like it didn't understand the book or even its themes at all.”
“I enjoyed Absolution and, again, I was expecting Veilguard to be closer to it in tone, themes, and treatment of the Tevinter-related world building.”

NARRATIVE SAMPLE COMMENTS
“Overall I am quite satisfied with the direction Bioware took the story and the outcomes for most of the recurring characters Bioware had in Veilguard.”
“I think the entire Dragon Age series has struggled to some extent with narrative consistency, but this game felt so jarringly different from prior games that at times it doesn't feel like a Dragon Age game at all. I recognize that with a ten year time gap that there are going to be changes in-universe, but I feel like 0 effort was put into helping transition players from the old status quo to the new one (and in fact a lot of the writing erases the old status quo). The sociopolitical conflicts common to the series (like the oppression of elves and mages, the cultural hegemony of the Chantry, dwarven society and their diaspora, etc) felt largely if not totally absent from Veilguard. And also there are direct plot threads from Inquisition that are just never touched on (like the Well of Sorrows choice, to pick an example).”
“I think the choice to place Veilguard in the north was a good one, and also freed the writers from some narrative obligations (it doesn't really matter who the king of Ferelden is). I really liked seeing all the familiar conflicts and prejudices from the northern perspectives.”
“Thedas didn’t feel like Thedas. Nothing mattered anymore. Tevinter didn’t feel like Fenris and Dorian described it in the previous games neither like what we saw of it in the comics/book and others adaptations. Same issue with the Crows who appeared like a found family while they technically enslave children. There was none of the darker themes of Thedas (besides the Blight) so we never got to fight the actual corruption beside the one dimensional black and white villains the Evanuris were turned into. Elves oppression issue was totally ignored too. So much was also lacking due to the lack of worldstate.”
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
Some of the frequently mentioned strengths for DATV include the following:
Good balance between open world and linear maps.
Beautiful art design, especially the environments.
An advanced character creation system.
Fun and engaging combat/gameplay system.
Beloved characters.
Thematic consistency (regret, grief, trauma, hope).
Good voice acting.
Some of the frequently mentioned weaknesses for DATV include the following:
Racism and other bigotries present in the writing.
Lore inconsistencies.
Lack of continuity with the previous game installments.
Lack of “political” or “deep” themes.
Feeling “oversimplified”.
Feels unfinished and/or rushed in places.
It’s also worth noting that many people said they consider some of these merits and flaws to be carried over from the existing IP, rather than exclusive to DATV. Like for example, pointing out that Dragon Age has always had issues with racism in the writing.

Chapter 1: Home Is Just a Place You Leave
The clock blinked 3:27 a.m., its red numbers bleeding into the suffocating darkness of the room. The faint creak of the front door shattered the silence, though it only emphasized the hollow ache in your chest. You didn’t look up from your laptop, though the spreadsheet in front of you blurred beneath your tear-clouded gaze. They didn’t call out to you. They never did anymore.
Gojo’s laugh filtered through the quiet, hushed but unmistakable, its usual warmth now slicing through you like shards of glass. It was followed by Nanami’s deep shush—an attempt at reprimand still laced with the remnants of amusement. They were trying to be quiet. Trying not to wake you. Or worse, trying to avoid you altogether.
Your chest tightened as the bedroom door clicked shut. The finality of the sound pressed against your ribs like a vice. You closed the lid of your laptop, extinguishing the only source of warmth in your home office.
It hadn’t always been like this.
Months ago, Gojo would have bounded through the door, sweeping you off your feet with his endless energy, spinning you in the kitchen as you brewed coffee at midnight because you had work to get done with your international clients in different time zones. Nanami would’ve sighed, exasperated but indulgent, chastising Gojo with his usual composure only to steal a sip from your mug when he thought you weren’t looking. He’d press a soft kiss to your temple, murmuring that you worked too hard and should rest. Nights used to mean laughter, warmth, and their insistence that the world could wait just a little longer while they held you close.
Now, the bed was cold. Empty. And when it wasn’t, they were.
The first time you noticed, you convinced yourself it wasn’t real.
They’d been out late again. Gojo’s shirt was rumpled, his cologne faintly overpowered by the acrid bite of whiskey. Nanami’s hair was damp, the scent of cheap bar soap clinging to him. You’d stayed up, the effort evident in the tea set carefully on the table, your hands trembling with hope as you handed them their cups. You’d tried to salvage something, anything.
“Sorry, sweetheart,” Gojo mumbled, his brilliant eyes fixed anywhere but on you. “Work stuff.”
Nanami grunted, brushing past you with a brief, impersonal nod. His silence chilled you more than the winter air seeping through the walls.
You told yourself they were tired. You told yourself it was fine. You told yourself it was ok if they had touched each other without you; maybe the missions they were on had been rough. You told yourself you were just being clingy. You’d uprooted your life for them, moving to Japan, where the language was foreign and the culture even more so. You had no friends, no family here. Your subordinates at work were polite but distant; forcing them to spend time with you wasn’t your style. You’d thought they—Gojo and Nanami—would be enough. They’d promised you would never feel alone.
But weeks passed. The crumpled bar receipts in their pockets became harder to ignore. The hickeys on Gojo’s neck and the sight of Gojo’s blindfold hanging from Nanami’s hand like a bracelet every night sent bile rising in your throat. Then there were the texts you glimpsed on the house iPad, where Gojo’s account was still logged in:
Nanamin <3: Tonight again?
Nanamin <3: Same place?
Nanamin <3: Don’t let her find out, Satoru.
Your stomach twisted violently as you read them, the bile in your throat threatening to choke you. You wanted to scream, to throw the iPad across the room, but instead, you exited the app and set it down gently, hands trembling, heart racing. You told yourself there had to be an explanation. There had to be.
But there wasn’t.
They hadn’t even touched you in two months. No kisses, no lingering glances, not even the casual brush of fingers over dinner. The absence of their affection was suffocating, a void that seemed to grow larger every day, swallowing you whole.
You buried yourself in work, accepting every trip, every meeting, every grueling hour. It was easier to drown in spreadsheets and product launches than to face the gnawing loneliness. But even then, their absence clung to you like a shadow, an ache that refused to fade.
At night, the bed felt cavernous. You’d stretch your hand out, desperate for some part of them—a hand, a breath, anything. But all you ever found was the cold emptiness where they used to be.
Tonight would be different.
You’d returned home early, determined to surprise them. You’d made their favorite dinner, lit the candles Gojo liked, and even played the old metal records Nanami swore helped him relax. But as the hours stretched on and your texts went unanswered, your hope dwindled, and the wine bottle you’d opened sat untouched.
Now, you sat in the dark, scrolling through your phone mindlessly until the glow illuminated a photo on Instagram. Your breath caught in your throat.
Gojo and Nanami, seated in a dimly lit bar, laughing like they hadn’t laughed with you in months. Gojo’s grin was wide, his head thrown back in unrestrained joy. Nanami’s lips curved into a rare smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. They looked happy.
Without you.
The photo shattered something inside you. You couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. Your hands trembled as you gripped your phone, your chest heaving.
You’d given up everything for them. Your home, your friends, your career—everything. You’d built a life here for them, endured the isolation, the cultural barriers, the crushing loneliness. And for what? To be forgotten? To be cast aside like you meant nothing?
The front door creaked open suddenly, and you froze. Their voices were softer this time, but you could still make out the unmistakable warmth in Gojo’s laugh, the familiar cadence of Nanami’s low murmur.
You stared at the empty wine glass in front of you, the room suffocatingly silent once more. For the first time, you wondered if you’d made a mistake—if you’d ever meant as much to them as they had to you.
Nanami froze when he saw you, his tie loosened, hair disheveled, half his shirt untucked. Gojo’s ever-present charm faltered under the weight of your stare. You could smell the alcohol from ten feet away on them.
“We didn’t know you’d be up,” Gojo offered, scratching the back of his neck.
“You never care if I am,” you replied lowly, your voice trembling but resolute.
Nanami opened his mouth, then closed it, guilt flickering across his face but offering no solace.
“Do you even love me anymore?” You whispered, tears burning your eyes. “Or am I just the third wheel in my own marriage?”
Gojo’s hands twitched at his sides, but he said nothing. Nanami couldn’t even meet your gaze.
Their silence was louder than any answer.
They didn’t try to explain or comfort you. Instead, they went to bed, leaving you in the drawing room with nothing but your thoughts and the cold, untouched dinner and wine.
You stared at the blank television screen as your mind replayed every moment—the laughs, the touches, the love—that had slowly faded into nothingness.
At some point, the quiet turned unbearable. You wandered into the bedroom, where they lay side by side, their breathing deep and even. It should have brought you comfort, but instead, it only deepened the ache.
Gojo’s arm was draped over Nanami’s waist while Nanami cradled Gojo’s head in his chest, their bodies turned toward each other in unconscious intimacy. The sight made your chest tighten. You covered your mouth to muffle the sob that threatened to escape.
By the time the sun rose, its pale light spilling into the room, you felt no warmth. Only emptiness. You didn’t sleep.
When they finally stirred, you were gone.
You couldn’t bear to interact with people who clearly didn’t want you around, so you moved to the guest bedroom for the morning. It was your leave day, and you had nowhere to go. You had no friends in this country you’d moved to because of them. You’d learned the language somewhat, but it was still hard making connections given your introverted nature.
Their voices filtered in from the living room, low murmurs mixed with occasional laughter. You didn’t dare listen too closely. They were so consumed in each other they thought you weren’t home.
It was easier this way. Once they left, you got up to do your regular skincare and eat something. Not sure what you were looking for when you checked the fridge, you remembered Nanami always left you something to eat. These days you craved his cooking—but nothing this time. You scoffed at the sight as a single angry tear rolled down your cheek.
.
Two days later, you collapsed onto the cold bathroom floor, your knees pulled to your chest, your body convulsing in spasms you couldn’t control. Every breath felt like it was being pulled from your lungs, sharp and shallow. The weight of it all was suffocating, pressing down on you from all sides. The doctor’s words reverberated in your skull, haunting and relentless.
Twins .
Your trembling hands slowly found their way to your stomach. A cold sweat broke out on your skin as your fingers pressed against the swelling, the tiny lives inside you moving, shifting. It felt wrong. The movement, too much, too fast. It shouldn’t have been like this.
"I’m all you’ve got," you whispered, voice breaking, the words splintering as they left your lips. A sharp, painful sob wracked your chest. Your body betrayed you in ways you didn’t know were possible after your hysterectomy.
You hated it. You hated how their lives were tied to Gojo’s cocky smirk and to Nanami’s quiet strength; you hated how you could already feel them—tiny, fragile, their little bodies twisting and growing inside you. It felt like they were crawling under your skin, stretching and shifting in ways that didn’t belong, but more than anything, you hated how much you loved them already, how their very presence in your body was slowly becoming a part of you, tearing you open from the inside.
You had practically run from the hospital when they wanted more bloodwork, when they suggested deeper tests. The thought of them poking and prodding, of finding out what was inside you, made your stomach churn. If anyone knew—if anyone found out you were carrying the children of the most powerful sorcerers in existence, children who could potentially tip the power scales further—it would be a death sentence.
You couldn’t let them see. You couldn’t let anyone know. The world didn’t need to see what was growing inside you. They wouldn’t understand, so they didn’t need to know what you were tied to.
Because if they found out, Gojo and Nanami would stop at nothing to take them from you. And so would their enemies, who’d tear you apart, piece by piece, to get to them. You could already feel the blood pulsing beneath your skin, the strange, unnatural warmth of it all. It wasn’t right. It wasn’t human.
You couldn’t let that happen. You wouldn’t let anyone take them from you. Even if it meant you had to burn the world down to keep them safe. You had the money for it. The only thing you didn’t have was their support.
You gritted your teeth, eyes stinging with the unshed tears you refused to let fall. You should’ve told them. Should’ve screamed it at them the moment the doctor’s words had settled in your chest. But no, you couldn’t. Not after everything. Not when they didn’t want you, the mother of their child, around.
They’d been avoiding you, disappearing into their own little world, their own secret, leaving you to watch from the sidelines like some unwanted ghost. They’d been too busy with each other, tangled in their own twisted dance of pleasure and control, while you stood there, like the mistress in your own marriage. They didn’t need to know. Not now. Not when they were too busy fucking each other senseless to even look your way.
It wasn’t like they cared anyway.
Gojo had made it clear from the start: he never wanted kids. The idea of leaving behind an heir to carry on the Gojo name—his name—was a joke to him. He hated the clan and everything they stood for. He’d burn it all down before he’d let them turn his own flesh and blood into a weapon for their cause. He’d never allow it.
And Nanami? Maybe he’d considered it once, in a quiet, fleeting moment when the world wasn’t always on the brink of death. But not really. Not enough to change his mind. The reality of their lives, in his eyes—of sorcery—was that they could die at any moment. Kids? They’d both be dead before the kids ever grew up. It was a risk they’d never take.
You had never wanted children either, so you never had any issues; in fact, it was even better that way. You never asked for this. But now they were here. Now they were all you had left, all that mattered. You pressed your hand harder against your stomach, feeling the strange, unnatural pulse beneath your fingers. It was as if something was clawing its way out from within you, desperate to be born.
You weren't even sure why you bothered thinking about it. It wasn’t like they’d ever wanted you to be the mother of their children. You were just the one who got stuck with it, the one left holding the weight of it all. The one left standing while they pretended you didn’t exist.
You’d seen the way Gojo’s eyes barely lingered on you anymore, and Nanami’s were just as guilty—cold, absent, like you were some afterthought. They’d been treating you like the other woman, like you didn’t belong in the life they’d built.
You were expendable.
And yet, here you were, holding their children. Your children. You weren't sure if it was the rage or the pain that made your decision so clear, but you knew you couldn’t give them that power. Not now. Not when they were too wrapped up in each other to care about you.
If they didn’t want to see you, you’d let them stay blind. If they didn’t care, you wouldn’t force them to. You’d keep the secret. You’d protect them—your children—on your own.
Your husbands didn’t deserve to know. Not anymore.
.
After some nights, the bedroom door creaked open sometime past 3 a.m. You were already under the covers, turned toward the furthest wall, hiding from the world. You’d only stayed in your shared bedroom because you knew they wouldn’t come home; they never did on weekends.
Your breath hitched when the mattress dipped, the weight of it familiar, but this time it felt like dread clawing at your skin. Gojo slid in first, followed by Nanami. A blade twisting deeper into your chest. You felt the weight of it settle in your bones, pressing you further into the bed, as though the world was slowly collapsing on top of you.
You could hear the wet, sloppy sounds of their kisses, their breaths, so painfully intimate and shallow it felt like a physical violation. Gojo’s muffled whimpers, Nanami’s barely audible groans—they echoed in your mind, tearing away the layers of the lies you’d been telling yourself. Your hands clenched your shirt, knuckles white with the effort to hold yourself together, but every rustle of fabric, every quiet chuckle that followed, felt like it was shoving you further into the abyss. You weren’t just an observer; you were a prisoner, locked in your own home, trapped in a marriage that was no longer yours.
You heard the unmistakable sound of a belt buckle being released. “Not here,” Nanami muttered, his voice low but lacking any real conviction, as though it were a half-hearted protest. You could almost hear the disinterest in his tone, as if your presence had become a dull ache he’d long stopped caring about.
“Why not?” Gojo’s voice was smug, teasing, as if daring the universe to intervene, daring it to stop him. “She’s asleep.”
You weren’t asleep. You hadn’t been able to sleep for days, but the idea of letting them know that—of confronting them right now felt disgusting—felt like it would tear you apart. The bed shifted slightly with their movements, and you felt each small shift like a punch to the gut. The sounds of their clothes rustling, the soft murmurs of each other’s names, the desperate, needy gasps—they all melted together into a sickening symphony that filled your ears, but you could hardly hear them over the sound of your own heart breaking. It was obscene. It was intimate. It was everything you weren’t anymore.
Tears burned down your cheeks, hot and stinging as they fell. Your body trembled beneath the sheets, every muscle aching with the effort to keep yourself from breaking down completely. You pressed a trembling hand to your mouth, desperate to stifle the sobs that clawed at your throat, but it didn’t matter. They couldn’t hear you. They never would. Gojo’s words sliced through the air with cruel simplicity.
“See? Nothing.”
It was the final blow. The words rang in your ears, each syllable heavier than the last. The suffocating silence that followed felt like it would swallow you whole. Your chest ached with the weight of it, a hollow emptiness growing where your heart used to be. You bit down hard on the inside of your cheek, the metallic taste of blood spreading across your tongue, but it didn’t stop the pain. Nothing could stop it. Nothing could make it stop.
The bed shifted again, the weight of their bodies moving in rhythm, their shared gasps filled the air. It felt like you were being suffocated, the room closing in on you, pressing in on all sides. You wanted to scream. You wanted to turn around, to confront them, to demand answers, to demand some shred of decency, but you couldn’t. You stayed silent. Unmoving. Paralyzed by a combination of rage and heartbreak so deep, it left you hollow. You wanted to crawl out of your skin with the way you felt disgusted with them, with yourself being next to them.
You stayed silent because you had already made your choice. There was nothing left to say, nothing left to do. You had been here before, alone in your marriage, surrounded by their indifference. And yet, it was never more apparent than it was now, with their laughter still echoing in your mind, their skin brushing against each other as if you were invisible.
The air in the bedroom was suffocating, thick with the stench of unspoken words, broken promises, and sex. You could feel the ghost of their presence on the bed beside you, a haunting reminder of what they’d once been, of what you’d once thought you had. But now, it was just a shell.
Your eyes were wide open in the dark, staring at the wall in front of you but seeing nothing. You couldn’t sleep. Not now. Not after the cruel mockery of your existence that was playing out in front of you. Their bodies moving together—everything about it was a slap in the face. You weren’t there, you weren’t needed, and you never had been.
You had thought you’d gotten used to the isolation, to the distance they kept, but tonight had shattered whatever fragile illusion you’d managed to cling to. You had never felt more invisible, more worthless, than you did in that moment. They hadn’t even cared enough to hide it. They hadn’t even cared enough to pretend.
You didn’t know how long you’d been lying there, trembling beneath the sheets, your body wracked with sobs you couldn’t stop. You were still in the same bed you’d shared with them, the bed that once felt like a symbol of everything you’d built together, now a mockery of your place in their lives.
Your body felt wrong. You pressed your hand to your stomach, feeling the faintest flutter of movement beneath your skin, the tiny lives growing inside you—their children. The children they had never wanted. The children you hadn’t wanted. And yet, here they were, their presence growing inside you, relentless and undeniable. Their actions next to you made you feel like these children were a disease, a curse, spreading through your veins, feeding off the pain, feeding off the isolation. It made you feel alive in a way that made your skin crawl.
You hated it. You hated that you were carrying their children, that your body was betraying you in the worst possible way. You hated that the only part of them that still mattered—that was what had been left inside you. And yet, no matter how much you hated it, you couldn’t bring yourself to get rid of them. You couldn’t. They were the only thing you had left; it wasn’t their fault they came from such fathers.
You weren’t even sure why you stayed anymore. You had given them everything—your time, your body, your trust—and all they had given you in return was distance, neglect, and betrayal. Gojo, with his smug, untouchable arrogance, always so sure of himself, never even noticing the cracks in the façade. Nanami, the stoic, the silent one, always too focused on his work, too focused on keeping his distance. They were too wrapped up in each other to see you, too lost in their own world to even acknowledge that you existed.
This was beyond anything you had prepared for.
And yet, when you closed your eyes, all you could hear were the sounds of them together. The muffled groans, the wet kisses, the sound of their skin against skin. Every breath you took felt like it was pulling the air from your lungs, suffocating you in the weight of it all. You wanted to scream, to shout at them, to demand that they see you. But you didn’t. You stayed silent because you knew it wouldn’t matter. If they cared, they wouldn’t have left you for days without a word after you had begged them to tell you if they loved you. You were just a ghost in their lives now, nothing more than a bystander in a marriage that had already crumbled.
.
The next morning, when they left, as they always did, before the sun had even risen, you lay there, unmoving like you had the entire night, too afraid of the humiliation, unable to shake the image of them slipping away from you once again. The bed was still warm, but it wasn’t enough. The scent of their cologne lingered in the air, a reminder of everything you had lost, of everything they had taken from you.
You stared at the ring on your finger, the symbol of everything that was supposed to be but never was. It felt heavier than ever before, like a weight pulling you down into the abyss. A reminder of how much you had given up and how little they had given in return.
You were nothing to them now. Nothing but a placeholder. A person who had been used, then discarded. And still, you had stayed because you had no choice.
So you made your choice.
You left the ring on the nightstand.
You locked the door behind you and didn’t look back.
A/N: Thank you for reading! I’d love to hear your thoughts: Who do you think is more unforgivable, Gojo or Nanami? Or is it both? Please leave a comment; your chaos fuels mine.

Dropout should hire more trans women.
That said, a couple things about the data set floating around showing disproportionality in casting:
1. 7 of the top 9 (those cast members who appear in over 100 episodes, everyone else has under 70 appearances) are members of the core dimension 20 cast, aka “the intrepid heroes”. This cast has been in 7 of the 22 seasons, with those seasons usually being 20-ish episodes long (the other seasons are between 4-10 episodes long typically). That’s approximately 140 episodes for each of the main intrepid heroes cast members just for these seasons (not including bonus content like live shows). Brian Murphy has appeared 154 times, which means almost all of his appearances were on D20 intrepid heroes campaigns.
2. The other 2 in the top 9 are Sam Reich and Mike Trapp, who are both hosts of long running shows (Game Changer and Um, Actually)
3. 198 of the 317 episodes that noncis “TME” people have appeared in can be attributed to ally Beardsley alone (there is some crossover where for example alex and ally have both appeared in the same episodes). Erika ishii has been in 67 of the 317 noncis “TME” episode appearances i don’t know how much crossover there is between them but i don’t think they’ve been on d20 together so i doubt it’s more than 20. It could be as many as 250 of the 317 episodes that have either erica or ally. Both Erika and ally are majorly skewing the results for the data
4. Over 3/4 of people have no listed gender identity in the spreadsheet - most of them have 1-2 appearances, but a few have 3-4 appearances. I’m pretty sure these people aren’t included in the data at all (some of them i’m p sure are not cis like jiavani and bob the drag queen)
5. The data collector has assigned “tme” and “tma” to various cast members.
TME: transmisogyny exempt
TMA: transmisogyny affected
Now, tranmisogyny can affect trans women, trans femmes, and nonbinary people, and occasionally masculine appearing cis women.
I personally do not believe that an outside person can assign you a label deciding whether or not you experience certain types of oppression- and yet that is what the data collector has done.
I think a more accurate label would be amab/afab, or more honestly- “people i think are amab or have said they are amab and then everyone else”
6. The data does not include many of their newer shows such as Very Important People, Gastronauts, Play it By Ear, and Monet’s Slumber Party, all of which feature trans people (MSP, Gastronauts, and VIP are all hosted by noncis people)
What I think the data more accurately shows:
- Dimension 20 has a “main cast” who have appeared in the majority of episodes
- Dropout has some “regulars” who appear on the majority of their content/shows (sam has referenced multiple times that brennan is one of the first people he calls whenever someone can’t show up for something since he’s nearly always down for anything) - none of these people are trans women
Final thoughts:
I think eliminating “hosts” and the “intrepid heroes” from THIS TYPE of data set would be more appropriate because they massively skew the data when crunching the numbers for dropout shows. Especially since I can tell from the excel sheet that there are shows missing. Examining d20 sidequests and the guests on the other shows will give a more accurate representation of casting. Hosts should be analyzed separately as that’s a different casting process.
Also imagine if we referred to men and women as “misogyny exempt” and “misogyny affected” when doing demographics. Or if someone did a data collection of the number of POC appearances in dropout episodes and sorted it by “racism affected” and “racism exempt” - so weiiiiird
TLDR: the data set has massive issues with its methodology and that should be considered. That doesn’t make what trans women are saying less valid.
In other words: spiders brennan is an outlier and should not have been counted

Festival Skin Entries by Year
Me and my friends who regularly enter festival contests have felt for the past few years that the number of entries per contest have dropped. Today we finally decided to compile every single festival submission thread since 2013 and see if that's true!
This was pretty interesting, so we wanted to make a quick post to share the results. You can find the spreadsheet here.
*Note that 2013 only had 6 festivals contests, and we are only 3 contests into 2025.
2015 had the highest amount of total entries that year.
Arcane 2015 holds the highest non-2013 record of entries at 45 pages.
The flights with the highest number of entry pages total is Arcane at 285, Light with 280
The lowest pagecount total is not actually Earth but Wind with 178 pages!
The total number of entries per festival has definitely been in drastic decline since 2015. What's the reason for this?
Contest prize went up to 1.5kg for Plague 2014, then to 2kg for Light 2019.
Fest entry slots scaled these fests:
Light 2013 - 6 slots
Fire 2013 - 8 slots (+2)
Plague 2013 - 10 slots (+2)
Fire 2014 - 12 slots (+2)
Fire 2015 - 14 slots (+2)
Light 2023 - 16 slots (+2)
Light 2024 - 20 slots (+4 - 2 permababy 2 general)
Light and Fire in 2013 did not have separate submission and discussion threads. We filtered the pages into those that contained an img and those that did not.
2023 Rockbreakers is an outlier. Entry pages are unusually high for that year (29 pages) because we ran a 500g giveaway to enter the contest.
...although, 29 pages would've been the norm in 2015-2016!
Pretty interesting data!
My own thoughts:
The observation that started this off was that Nature remained consistently high in entries over the past 4 yrs while every other flight seemed to decline. This is still true! Nature is the only flight that remains able to break the 20 page barrier!
Why has the userbase doubled, but festival submissions grow fewer and fewer each year?
What was going on in 2016?
Here's a link to the submission thread compilation on FR; I can't add the links on Tumblr, the site thinks I'm a spambot.
#flight rising#flightrising#just some dataposting for fun#I'm “normal about festivals” august 888 9fox they're always calling me this

What's in a name?
Because I have no chill, too much time, and a scientist's curiosity and love of a spreadsheet I've gone through all the YouTube longforms and noted down all the names used because it felt like some came up oddly often. To vaguely justify this insanity I figured I'd share the results:
Given Names:
Used 5+ times: Hans (6), James (6), Jemima (5), John (5)
Used 3+ times: David (3), Johnny (3), Michael (3), Penelope (3), Terry (3), Toby (3)
Used 2 times: Amanda, André (both as André Beetroot but he's in two separate longforms), Bill, Clarissa, Derek, Dmitri, Gavin, Helga (there are two Helga's in the same longform), Javier, Jeff, Jimmy, Krampus (Big and Little), Lucy, Maria (one is part of Maria Clarissio as a compound name), Mark, Martha, Marty, Mary, Mildred, Otto, Peter, Rupert (Sr and Jr), Sherlock (again, the same character in two different longforms), Tarquin, Tony, Xavier
Surnames:
Used 3 times: James, Jenkins
Used 2 times: Beetroot, Holmes, Johnson, Lestrade, Moriarty, Rogers, Twilliger, Watson
General Things:
There are 172 distinct given names used across the longforms on YouTube
There are 79 distinct surnames
For given names they bloody love ones starting with J because there are 24 of those and the next closest is M with 19
The least favoured are Z, Q and U with none and E, I, O, V and W which all only have 1
For surnames most common is B, C and R which crop up 9 times each, followed by J again with 8
Their least used are F, I, N, Q, U and Z all get no entries and E, G, K and X have just the one
The longform with the most given names used is The Milkman with 9, the The Hobnob Affair and And so it Begun both with 7
The most surnames are given in The Final Baker of Baker Street with 9, then The Mystery of the Midnight Circus with 7
The longforms with the least given names are The Midnight Mystery and The Meringue Haberdashery which both only have 1 first-named character
7 longforms have no surnames in at all (Oopsy Daisy Bulge, Wine Under the Bridge, Moist & Magical, Marigolds, Bluebells & Hugh, Divorces & Teddybears, Wild, Wet & Worrisome, and Susan's Holiday)
#shoot from the hip#sfth#sfth longform#shootimpro#frankly this is a stupid thing to have done but hey ho#my inner scientist is yelling that I've not properly outlined my methodology but we're keeping him in a box for now#although if anyone is that interested feel free to ask!#I have gone down so many Google wormholes on name origins and etymology doing this. . .#Congrats to anyone called James James because you've achieved peak SFTH name#also there’s every chance I’ve missed a few names

hi there! im a fan of your page 💕
can you give me the best studying techniques?
hi angel!! @mythicalmarion tysm for asking about study techniques 🤍 i'm so excited to share my secret methods that helped me maintain perfect grades while still having a dreamy lifestyle + time for self-care!! and thank you for being a fan of my blog, it means everything to me. <3
~ ♡ my non-basic study secrets that actually work ♡ ~

(don't mind the number formatting)
the neural bridging technique this is literally my favorite discovery!! instead of traditional note-taking, i create what i call "neural bridges" between different subjects. for example, when studying both literature + history, i connect historical events with the literature written during that time. i use a special notebook divided into sections where each page has two columns - one for each subject. the connections help you understand both subjects deeper + create stronger memory patterns!!
here's how i do it:
example:
left column: historical event
right column: literary connection
middle: draw connecting lines + add small insights
bottom: write how they influenced each other
the shadow expert method this changed everything for me!! i pretend i'm going to be interviewed as an expert on the topic i'm studying. i create potential interview questions + prepare detailed answers. but here's the twist - i record myself answering these questions in three different ways:
basic explanation (like i'm talking to a friend)
detailed analysis (like i'm teaching a class)
complex discussion (like i'm at a conference)
this forces you to understand the topic from multiple angles + helps you explain concepts in different ways!!
the reverse engineering study system instead of starting with the basics, i begin with the most complex example i can find and work backwards to understand the fundamentals. for example, in calculus, i start with a complicated equation + break it down into smaller parts until i reach the basic concepts.
my process looks like:
find the hardest example in the textbook
list every concept needed to understand it
create a concept map working backwards
study each component separately
rebuild the complex example step by step
the sensory anchoring technique this is seriously game-changing!! i associate different types of information with specific sensory experiences:
theoretical concepts - study while standing
factual information - sitting at my desk
problem-solving - walking slowly
memorization - gentle swaying
review - lying down
your body literally creates muscle memory associated with different types of learning!!
the metacognition mapping strategy i created this method where i track my understanding using what i call "clarity scores":
level 1: can recognize it
level 2: can explain it simply
level 3: can teach it
level 4: can apply it to new situations
level 5: can connect it to other topics
i keep a spreadsheet tracking my clarity levels for each topic + focus my study time on moving everything to level 5!!
the information architecture method instead of linear notes, i create what i call "knowledge buildings":
foundation: basic principles
first floor: key concepts
second floor: applications
top floor: advanced ideas
roof: real-world connections
each "floor" must be solid before moving up + i review from top to bottom weekly!!
the cognitive stamina training this is my absolute secret weapon!! i use a special interval system based on brain wave patterns:
32 minutes of focused study
8 minutes of active recall
16 minutes of teaching the material to my plushies
4 minutes of complete rest
the specific timing helps maintain peak mental performance + prevents study fatigue!!
the synthesis spiral evolution this method literally transformed how i retain information:
create main concept spirals
add branch spirals for subtopics
connect related concepts with colored lines
review by tracing the spiral paths
add new connections each study session
your notes evolve into a beautiful web of knowledge that grows with your understanding!!
these methods might seem different from typical study advice, but they're based on how our brains actually process + store information!! i developed these through lots of research + personal experimentation, and they've helped me maintain perfect grades while still having time for self-care, hobbies + fun!!
sending you the biggest hug + all my good study vibes!! remember that effective studying is about working with your brain, not against it <3
p.s. if you try any of these methods, please let me know how they work for you!! i love hearing about your study journeys!!
xoxo, mindy 🤍

✨TS2 Default Masterlist (wip) ✨ by prixiepae
high res logo by @greatcheesecakepersona and background image is from ts2 default database (linked below!)
THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS! SO FAR ONLY THE FEMALE HAIRS ARE DONE! (most of them at least i need hiders for the rest)
i’m posting this here for new ts2 players who are particularly used to playing with lots of cc in the sims 4 (i have over 80 gb+ in my sims 4 mods folder). i am not a sims 2 expert i just have a cc addiction.
the sims 2 is my favorite game and since the rerelease last week, i am inspired to play again (aka i will be redownloading the starter pack and seeing how it runs). to help my computer not explode my goal for cas is to ONLY download default replacements for the in-game items. ts2 is charming and lovely but i need it to be personalized so i can get back into playing again.
BEFORE YOU READ MY RAMBLES:
this entire spreadsheet would not be possible without ts2 default database! you NEED this to follow my spreadsheet and it is a useful tool for tracking your own defaults.
if you like the look of ts4 clay hair, platinumaspiration has literally replaced every single hair in the game.
if you like the look of realistic hair, malvernsims has replaced probably every single hair AND clothing item in the game.
only download ONE default replacement per item!
some things to consider:
here are the common abbreviations used when talking about defaults:
af/am = adult female/male
yf/ym = young adult female/male (young adults are only available in uni)
ef/em = elder female/male
tf/tm = teen female/male
cf/cm = child female/male
pf/pm = toddler female/male
u = unisex
uu = unisex for life stage and gender
this is my list so obviously i picked defaults that i like. feel free to make a copy and edit the links.
the hairs i picked are in the poppet v2 hair system. in the ts2 there are many hair systems from different creators (here's a comparison chart that's helpful in picking which system you like) and essentially they make edits to the maxis colors/textures for others to use. i recommend sticking with one system so that the hair colors will match (or don’t, it’s your game!)
many hairs have different color variants. since the ts2 does not have a swatch system like in ts4, different variations of the same hair count as separate hairs. so for example, the adult female “dreadsband” hair has 5 color variants: blue, dark, maroon, tan, and myrtle. since i am relying on only default hairs i have 5 different hairs that replace all the variants. if you don’t want to do that, i would recommend downloading hiders for all or some of the variants depending on what you prefer!
if something is left out i either: couldn’t find a replacement and will download a hider, i didn’t want to replace it (this will be in the case for a select few clothing items i like), i haven’t gotten to it yet, or more often then not, i forgot!
i hope this is helpful for anyone :)

can you give any sonadow recs?
Do you mean fanfiction?? I'll admit I haven't really been reading Sonic fics outside of friends' stories, friends' recs and for participation in random events since 2022 or so. But I think I can!
First, technically this also counts as rec lists: 🔸 short rec list I made for Just Leave a Comment Fest in April. It is 5 fics I picked out of everything I had read for that event; 🔸 my reblogs of Sonadow fics and fic promos/previews.
Tbh I've wanted to do a properly organised Sonadow fic rec list for a long time, would be cool to have a spreadsheet or maybe a separate page for it... One day. This is just a fraction of my favourites due to a Tumblr post being unable to fit more than 30 divider images 💫
Since there are no restrictions in your ask, I'm going to exclude graphic sexual content, ongoing and discontinued stories, Lansoni and other subships just in case! ☝ Some info about the stories is listed/changed at my own discretion. Mostly Ao3 (stories locked to it are marked with 🔒) with some FF.net thrown in – 29 Sonadow stories in alphabetical order, from small one-shots to huge multichapters.
⚡ as the world burns by @ssolaris (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 19 314 words, 2/2 chapters) — Angst, Sci-Fi, Action
He's been drowning for a long time. And, somewhere along the way, he's forgotten how to breathe.
Apocalyptic future where Black Arms basically conquered the planet, and Eggman is still a threat, too, and there's deliciously heart-shattering Sonadow with Captain America: The Winter Soldier-like twist.
🪴 Beyond a Promise by @moralitas (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 48 804 words, 10/10 chapters) — Slow Burn, PTSD/Trauma, Slice of Life
Shadow the Hedgehog has decidedly left the past behind, but his guilt still haunts him and intrudes on his life. This is how he comes to realize that living in itself, is much more than just survival and following old promises. Life has much more to throw at him that weird monsters and life threatening scenarios- there's also a pesky blue annoyance.
Still one of the most memorable endings to a story, that makes me randomly remember about it in the middle of doing everyday tasks and think about angsty what-ifs... Extra points for Shadow & G.U.N. interactions, I'm an enjoyer of occupational novels, and there's a bit of it there; many details of Sonic & Shadow interactions I loved, too. But most of all, amazing Shadow's characterisation and development arc 🙏
🌀 bonded wind by @worksofyesterday [🔒] (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 10 421 words, 7/7 chapters) — AU: Soulmates
A swirl of white marks his ankle: Sonic has never given it much thought, except when Tails brings it up. If he meets this soulmate, he'll welcome them with open arms. If he doesn't? Well, it's too bad, but Sonic can live with that. ---- Shadow never wants to meet his soulmate. They will only ever be disappointed by him and the fact that he's only a monster in mobian skin.
Soulmate AUs are a rarity for this ship, and I love Soulmate AUs 💜 This one dives into the hedgehogs' in-AU backstories as well which is always interesting to read about!
💋 careful what you wish for by @gregoftom (Gen, No Warnings Apply, 2 014 words) — Romance, Flirting, First Kiss
"H-hey Shadow, calm down, I j--" "What. The hell. Was that," "Uh... a kiss?" Sonic says, and his expression turns to that annoying sideways smirk, except his eyes convey something similar to fear, but not quite. Good, that's close enough. Shadow should be feared. Respected. Maybe this will teach Sonic something about the respect that Shadow commanded. "A kiss," Shadow repeats, eyes narrowing as crimson bores into grass green. "...Why?"
Sonic kisses Shadow out of nowhere... And if this is what could happen in canon, this is how it would happen. This is how they would react. With a slightly bittersweet aftertaste 🥺
🌊 exposure therapy by @milkcartonkidd (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 3 523 words) — Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort
“Stop! I’m gonna die!” Sonic gasps, scrabbling for purchase at Shadow’s forearms, “I’m gonna drown, Shadow, you’re drowning me—” “Sonic,” Shadow sighs, “It’s waist deep. You’re standing.” Sonic looks down. He is, in fact, standing. “...Oh.” - Shadow tries to help Sonic get over his fear of water, with mixed results.
Amazing banter between them 🔥 Also claws & paws~
🎆 Fireworks by LockedWings (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 433 words) — Romance, Fluff
Simple, short Sonadow fluff supposed to be for the New Years, takes place on the beach.
Dare I say, poetic... ✨
📱 Hello & Goodbye by @arctic-sylvalum [series] (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 8 031 words, 2/2 works) — AU: Different First Meeting
In which Sonic is the gung-ho leader of the Freedom Fighters, and Shadow is a very serious agent of GUN. And then they meet.
I love the idea to pieces! ❤️🔥 Maaan, re-reading this now, this absolutely had huge influence on my Happy Endings..., I should really add the link to my Notes.
🛁 Home by Spongeiticus (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 2 370 words) — Established Relationship, Romance, Fluff, Domestic
Sonic appreciates Shadow, and Shadow loves to be pampered.
One of the first fics I read when I returned to active fandom back in 2020! Many great quotes there!
🌓 I turn to stone, when you are gone by Kotanny (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 984 words) — Angst, Hopeful Ending
Shadow escapes Infinite’s virtual reality only to find the world in pieces, all the while still grappling with the knowledge of Sonic's death.
A chilling study of Shadow's mind during Forces with melancholic Sonadow references...
🛏 I'm Here by @gerudo-mask-replica (Gen, No Warnings Apply, 4 411 words, 3/3 chapters) — Angst, Fluff, Trauma, Comfort, Sharing a Bed
The night after Sonic and friends return from the Starfall Islands, he finds himself outside Shadow's bedroom window. He doesn't really know why. Or so he tells himself.
A post-Frontiers story, descriptive in a great way... Sonic and Shadow share beds, books and conversations 🤭 Very soft and gentle!!
🫂 Inadequate by Kotanny (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 3 626 words) — Established Relationship, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Self-Esteem Issues
Shadow has been struggling with his worth lately and Sonic is there to remind him how valuable he is. ___________________ “Pff, right…” he mumbles quietly, and it seems it has been a mistake or a blessing, because Sonic decides to capture his lips again; an involuntary purr escapes Shadow’s mouth. “My ultimate life form” Another kiss."The best of the best–.” And another– Sonic giggles mischievously as his face turns beet red; his black ears flatten against his head, overwhelmed by the compliments. “S-stop saying that.” “Stop saying what?” Sonic leans to Shadow very close, too close. “That you are perfect?–” Oh, God.
Wounded pride and Shadow not being able to keep up with his own expectations – stars, this fic resonated with me so much 😭 Sonic is being a perfect supportive partner in there, coming up with so many great pet names!
💥 It has come to this by @arctic-sylvalum (Mature, Major Character Death, 23 385 words, 9/9 chapters) — AU: Sonic Adventure 2, Angst, Adventure, Grief/Mourning, Codependency
“I will never let you die,” Sonic vows. Where once he smiled and grinned he is now only dead-serious steel. “I will keep saving you again and again, if that’s what it takes. If this Black Doom character tries to mess with your mind and tear you apart, I will destroy him.” He’s still clinging onto Shadow. “I will."
An AU of SA2 where the ARK did crash into the planet and destroyed it, no survivors except for Sonic and Shadow. It is depressing and heavy, and it's fucking fantastic. So worth a read. M-rated "for Mass Character Death" as stated in the tags 🥲
💓 Judge my sins, not my feelings by yellothebeeloved (Mature, No Warnings Apply, 228 479 words, 22/22 chapters) — Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Manipulation, Possession/Sharing a Body, Mutual Pining, Slow Burn
Maybe he's not meant to touch. It's the newest excuse he thought of in hopes that he could prolong the game a little more; a careful ruse to enjoy the bittersweet torture of seeing the days pass them by, while he pretends he doesn't seek azure blue whenever he's restless. At first, all he wanted to do was watch: but now the desire to touch, to have, to affect is at a point where he's not sure whether reaching for Sonic would truly be fruitless. He wonders that especially when Sonic's eyes light up upon seeing him. When he corners Shadow, when he invades his space and he touches and takes and then excuses it by calling it a fight. Shadow truly wonders then: if only he was brave enough to reach out, what would his grip find? Loose stars or a battle-worn body? Standing up, he glances at Sonic again, whose eyes have now met his own. There's something heavy in the eye contact, something Shadow doesn't dare name. Neither of them say anything, and yet Sonic's eyes move away from him again, like they did. Shadow warps away, hiding from the stars once more.
M-rated for sexual tension and general horniness! So much UST, guys... Sonic and Shadow's dynamics is so special here, with both of them being aro as well. There's so much queer intimacy that I just can't explain the vibe of, just that it's special. The plot is so suspenseful and full of intrigue – I was running to read every update when this story was ongoing. It all starts with Shadow losing his body to some entity, and no one knows that it happened...
🧬 Misstep by Tirainy (Mature, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, 17 775 words, 2/2 chapters) — Established Relationship, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Depression/Trauma, Amputation, Suicide Attempt, Unhealthy Relationships, Happy Ending
What does it take to bring down a hero? A single wrong step, apparently. What does it take to build one back up? That Shadow does not know, yet.
M-rated for all that stuff in the tags obviously. It is heavy. One of my favourite Tirainy's stories, though I enjoy many of them 🙏
🪥 Moments by TheGuardianKnux (Gen, No Warnings Apply, 1 833 words) — Romance, Humor, Domestic
Sonic and Shadow weren't like other couples. A bit outside the box. But with a look at a few moments in their relationship, maybe then people can see just how much they shine together.
So domestic!! 😭 And just the right amount... This story is in a rare balance of them complimenting and pushing each other.
🌸 Petals by Tirainy (Gen, No Warnings Apply, 2 413 words) — Romance, Angst, Hanahaki Disease
One day Sonic wakes up coughing out flowers. It probably says a lot about his life when he does not start panicking immediately.
The first ever hanahaki fic for this ship on Ao3, and it has a pretty unusual twist, too! I re-read this one sometimes, really like the flower imagery in particular.
📕 shadow’s fairy tale by @wubbowrites (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 10 989 words, 3/3 chapters) — Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Crushes/Pre-relationship, Falling In Love, Slice of Life, Homophobia/LGBTQIA+ Themes, Chatting & Messaging, Christmas
While being dragged on a Christmas shopping trip, Shadow spots a familiar storybook in a store window. A particular memory hits him.
Truly a Christmas fairy tale for Shadow with beautiful writing, great pacing and a pinch of very specific sort of angst. Soft and warm in the end...
🩹 Shatterproof by @arctic-sylvalum (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 3 332 words) — Romance
Shadow didn't make a big deal of it at all, so Sonic tries to drop it too. Unfortunately being a reckless adventure-seeking teenager who doesn't care about dangers unless others get involved, makes Shadow's latest trick seem really cool. Fascinating, let's stick with that. Sonic gets kinda stuck on the idea of Shadow being immortal.
Sonic discovers Shadow's immortality while Shadow realises the implications of his own immortality on his relationships 🥺 Beautiful fic... Also there's Shadow hanging out with everyone which is cool!
💤 Sleep Paralysis by IsdR2017 (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 913 words) — Romance, Suspense
Dreaming during sleep paralysis is a scary thing.
A curious little story where Sonic has a nightmare about something he isn't supposed to remember... Mostly it's just relatable for me lol
💅 solace by @quillifer (Mature, No Warnings Apply, 6 000 words) — Fluff, Gradual Relationship, Friends to Lovers
When Shadow offhandedly invites Sonic to hang out with him, he doesn't expect it to become a regular thing. He also doesn't expect to see Sonic letting down some of his barriers, shedding his bravado, and going running with him in silence, but it soon becomes the new normal. And maybe—it's a big maybe—Shadow is getting used to having Sonic to himself.
Claws & paws! CLAWS & PAWS! Very important! Just the right amount of angst and earning/pining/longing, too... A perfect Sonadow fic. M-rated for being suggestive/mentions of sex!
💬 stay by @ssolaris (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 6 816 words) — Romance, Friendship, Hurt/Comfort
Five times Shadow lied - and one time he didn't.
A Shadow centric 5+1 spanning over a long time and touching upon SA2, '06 and Forces plot points. Shadow's characterisation is on point ✨👌
🌟 Symphony by @whitejungle (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 693 words) — Romance
An AU(ish) take on a moment in the last story from Shadow’s perspective.
A moment in Sonic '06 when they go Super... but slightly different in the softest and heart-clenching way 💓
💍 Tension by Monovailable (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 3 511 words) — AU: High School/Future, Outsider POV
Mr. Robotnik was probably the most infamous teacher at the school. The man never seemed to have a smile on his face - Ian doesn't even think he knows how to. He was strict, and punishing, and most of the students tended to have opinions on him ranging from neutral to downright terrible. If you were quiet and got your work done, he was okay. If you were anything else, the man could probably put you in an early grave with the force of the glares he'd give sometimes. All in all, Mr. Robotnik and Mr. Maurice were about as opposite as you could get. Where Mr. Robotnik was all grumpy faces and eternal anger, Mr. Maurice was bright and energetic - rarely seen without a smile on his face, and always in a good mood. Which is why it was so odd that not only did Mr. Maurice willingly choose to spend his free time sitting in with Mr. Robotnik, but that there seemed to be an ungodly amount of capital T /Tension/ between the two.
This is just absolutely ✨perfect✨👌 Like, "written for me" perfect. Relatable, same headcanons, my fav tropes, etc. In the story Sonic and Shadow work as high school teachers in the future, and their students feel this tension between them… OC-centric!
🎤 Those Eight Letters by GuardianDragon98 (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 3 144 words) — Romance, Angst, Songfic
Shadow had to agree with Rouge. The song was written with guys like him in mind. Shadow's having a hard time expressing his feelings for a certain speedy blue hedgehog and Rouge is the best wing-woman ever.
One of these fics that stuck in my memory 🙏 Sometimes a confession... doesn't lead to a happy scene.
❤️🔥 till we touch the sun by @ssolaris (Teen, Major Character Death, 159 110 words, 26/26 chapters) — AU: Sonic Forces, Adventure, Angst
He never thought everything could fall apart quite like this.
I was reading this one as it was coming out, and I want to re-read now... It was another one of those fics I'd drop everything to read an update for... A lot of things go very wrong, so be prepared for it to be heavy, but the Sonadow is really up my alley here, and there's Knuxamy, too... and an awesome characterisation+lore for Gadget with past Infidget... so many characters and all of them are written so well. Guys, this fic is iconic.
🏫 to falter, to fall by @quillifer (Mature, No Warnings Apply, 8 172 words) — AU: High School, Rivals to Lovers
Sonic and Shadow's rivalry is a hot topic among their peers, but when their counselor decides that enough's enough, they have to suffer through their punishments together or face the consequences. In order to bury the hatchet for good, they have to try to understand each other, and along the way, they discover that pure hatred isn't what's been fueling their fights after all.
Same as solace, M-rated for being slightly suggestive I believe 👍 Fantastic dynamics between the hedgehogs here, immaculate vibes, and this also has a side of Rougikal (+Knuxouge) and I have been enlightened ever since...
💝 Valentines Confession by Burning Underground (Gen, No Warnings Apply, 1 139 words) — Romance, Humor
When a blue hedgehog runs into you on Valentine's Day, you just have to roll with it.
It is so silly!!
☕ We never met but can we have a cup of coffee or something? by @whitejungle (Teen, Major Character Death, 3 630 words) — Angst, Trauma/PTSD
It's been almost two months since Sonic lost someone he didn't even know, but he can't stop thinking about it.
Everyone must already know this story (unless you're very new) and its spiritual sequel singularity (which is ongoing, so I'm not listing it here, but I couldn't not make a mention of it anyway 🫶). annuska's fics in general are wonderful, and it was difficult to choose my absolute favs to showcase!
🟦 Your Favorite Color by @supershadsy (Teen, No Warnings Apply, 3 391 words) — Comfort
A typical day of training takes a turn down memory lane when Sonic and Shadow discover relics from the Space Colony ARK in the depths of GUN HQ.
Sonic and Shadow hanging out through sadness and silliness ❤️🩹 A beautifully written story that I feel is probably one of those that influenced my own way of writing Shadow's relationship with the past...
That's it for now! Send me another ask for more recs or with a specific request for stuff I excluded (subships, sexual content, etc.)! This was fun to put together ✨
To the authors who were mentioned: PM me if you want me to unmention you. I asked some people if they're okay with being mentioned, but not all of you... Stars divider by @enchanthings.
#Anonymous#asks#link#fic rec#fanfiction#Sonic series#Sonic the Hedgehog#Shadow the Hedgehog#Sonadow#Shadonic#Shasoni#100 notes#The divider limit presented itself just as I was deciding which of cozy's fics to add...#That's why you don't see cozy here#Xe absolutely should be here 😩#And I had to put into Drafts 7 more stories which I already had picked out...#Next time...#Oh well hope you enjoy anon!! 🔥

so i count at least three separate questions:
if i go into the teleporter, should i anticipate the subjective experience of coming out the other side of the teleporter?
conceding arguendo that the answer to 1 is no, if i go into the teleporter, has somebody died in a morally relevant sense?
conceding arguendo that the answer to 1 is no, if i go into the teleporter, should the person who comes out the other side consider themself to have a right to identify as me and pick up my relationships roughly where i left them off?
you could say yes, n/a, n/a, that teleporters preserve continuity of consciousness, b/c you're computational theory of identitypilled; i am not completely computation theory of identitypilled but i sometimes feel sympathetic to it. n.b. i'm just some dipshit though
if you say no to 1 - if you think the teleporter doesn't preserve continuity of consciouesness - you could in theory say y/y, y/n, n/y, or n/n to 2 and three:
y/y: yes, i have died, but the person who emerges from the teleporter is another "instance" of the "same person." you should mourn the me who died, b/c she didn't want to have a last-subjective-experience, but accept the person who emerged from the teleporter as another one of me, with the same relationships to the same people modulo the fact that they are all (we are all?) now mourning the lost original instance, who didn't get to go on living the life the duplicate will. if i assume the teleporter kills me, then i am most sympathetic to this position.
y/n: yes, i have died, and the person who emerges from the teleporter is somebody else; all of her memories of my relationships are false, and she has no more claim to my relationships than the victim of a mad scientist who clumsily mixed false memories of a friendship with my friends into an innocent stranger would. some people in Tha Discourse are arguing really determinedly for this position. i can't say i have a rigorous philosophical refutation of it, but if i get atomically duplicated in a teleporter accident b/c the teleporter glitched out and forgot to vaporise me, then acting like they have to figure out which one of us is the impostor will not endear either of us to them!
n/y: no, i have not "died" in any meaningful sense even if teleporters don't preserve continuity of consciousness; yes, the person who comes out the other end is still me, and should be treated as me. if you feel this way, then maybe you don't believe continuity of consciousness is a philosophically sound idea, or maybe experiencing oblivion just isn't something that scares you about dying. i have heard people express both sentiments, at least with respect to themself, but it's not for me. i don't want to have a last subjective experience! if i were going to, i'd rather have a fork to take over for me, sure, but having a last subjective experience is pretty much The Bad Thing about death for me, and anything a fork would mitigate is an Unfortunate Side Effect
n/n: no, i haven't died if i go through the teleporter, but no, the person who comes out the other end isn't me. this is a weird one! i haven't heard anyone advance it, and i don't really know why you would other than the sheer joy of filling all the spreadsheet boxes. if it's not literally a logical contradiction it feels close enough to one for government work, to me. but if someone wants to go to bat for this position, shoot; this subject clearly needs more contention and mutual confusion

original prompt: Gotham Academy's Mentorship Program
scene 1
table of contents
------------
scene 2: tim’s arch nemesis
“Have a good day at school Masters Tim, Thomas, and Damian.” Alfred wished, as they all got out of the car.
“Later, Alfred.” Duke waved as the car left the drop off zone.
The three of them walked together until Tim remembered the conversation from Bruce’s study. He peered over his shoulder at Damian who was trying to act nonchalant as he ditched the principal's office. Tim turned and stopped right in front of Damian ``Ohoho, and where do you think you’re going Damian?” Sneaky little plans for a sneaky little kid, huh.
“Tsk.” He rolled his eyes at being caught
Tim smirked at him, the words hillbilly civilians echoing in his head. “Aren’t you supposed to be in the principal’s office?”
“I was just on my way.” Damian said, trying to seem unbothered as he walked away.
“Y’know one of these days he’s gonna snap and finally murder you.” Duke mused next to him, before they split into their separate hallways.
“Better people than him have tried.” They shared a small laugh. Finding his usual seat in homeroom, Tim scrolled through his phone until class started.
At the bell Ms. Kross stepped to the teacher’s podium to start the daily announcements. “Hello class, happy Wednesday.” She smiled at them, “You’re all chipper as usual,” she commented humorously to herself at the silent audience. “Well today is the day I’m sure all of you have been waiting anxiously for. Before I announce everyone’s placements after the midterms, I just want to remind you all that grades only matter so much in the grand scheme of things, and if you did not score as well as you would’ve liked, there's still time to do better.” Ms. Kross gave them the yearly pep talk, as the system booted.
Tim had been attending Gotham Academy since the first grade, and he was familiar with the ins and outs of the system now, as opposed to the many students that often filtered in and out of the Academy. Gotham Academy is one of the best schools on this side of the coast and many affluent families would send their kids here. So naturally the Academy was incredibly competitive and so much as one point could move you from 5th place to 50th.
The competitive atmosphere of Gotham Academy had never been too hard of a burden on Tim’s shoulder. Since grade 3 Tim has easily been placed first in his grade without so much as a sweat, no matter the amount of Robin, or Red Robin responsibilities on his shoulders. Knowing this year would be no different, Tim let his chair lean back leisurely as his other classmates sat forward in anticipation.
“With no further ado, this year’s first place as for now is Daniel Fenton.” Yup, just like every other- Wait.
“What?” Tim asked, the front two legs of his chair hitting the floor hard. Tim looked at the screen in disbelief, only to have his suspicions confirmed.
“Mr. Drake, is there a problem?” Mr. Kross asked, surprised.
“Are you sure this is right?” Tim asked incredulously pointing an accusing finger at the screen, there's no way that he- Timothy Drake - placed second?
“Yes, Mr. Drake, I assure you this sheet has been double, triple, even quadruple checked. There are no errors.” Ms. Kross smiled exasperatedly.
Ms. Kross continued down the list of names in the class, announcing their places but Tim wasn’t paying attention. Tim glared at the spreadsheet at the front of the class, waiting for it to correct itself. But no changes were made. The name placed at the top of the list had been burned into Tim’s skull.
Who the fuck is Daniel James Fenton?
----
Bonus:
Bruce waited his turn in the pick up line, ready to see his kids' surprise when they found out that he came to pick them up instead of Alfred. When it was finally his turn to pull up to the curb he smiled happily as Tim, Damian and Duke entered the car.
“Surprise.” Bruce smiled at them.
“Oh, Bruce. Alfred didn’t come today?” Duke asked with a smile.
“Nope!” He said driving into the street. “Since it’s just us today, how about we go grab ice cream?” Bruce offered, looking at his passengers in the rearview mirror.
“Ooh ice cream after school!” Duke cheered.
“I could appreciate some ice cream.” Damian nodded from his seat.
“Oh how did meeting Daniel go today, Damian?” Bruce remembered.
“It was fine. Daniel is not entirely despicable.” Bruce blinked in surprise, Damian seemed to have taken a great liking to the kid if he was already calling him by his first name, especially on day one. “Not entirely despicable” and “it was fine” in Damian-speak usually meant that he had had a phenomenal time.
“That’s great, buddy.” Bruce turned to tell him when he stopped at a red light. “Duke, how was your Chemistry Test?”
“It went okay, I think. We’ll just have to wait till the results come out, I guess.” Duke shrugged.
Bruce nodded at the information. He was doing a good job. Engage, Assess, Appreciate. That’s what Dick had said.
Tim. There was something today, he had mentioned it offhandedly. What was it? Right! The placement release.
“Tim, how did your-”
“Shut up.” Tim seethed from the back seat. Bruce saw the irritation radiating off of him and decided that today, nor any day, would he be ready to deal with that.
“Ok.”
#timothy “never been academically challenged ” drake#danny “my grades suck bc i have to fight ghost all the time” fenton (there aren't any ghosts now)#danny and tim academic rivals#except danny doesn't know they're academic rivals#bruce is trying ti earn good dad points#dick totally walked him through the whole thing#but hey he's trying#bruce: tim#tim pissed: no#bruce: i dont get paid enough for this#also you can tell a lot abt damian and tim's relationship so far based on the difference in how they thought the morning scene played out#danny mentorship au

so. almost 2 months ago Australian speedrunner retropog thought, for whatever reason, that it would be hilarious to change his twitch username to nipplenahan. And he was right! It is hilarious! It is especially hilarious because he intended to switch the username on his alt account but did it on his main instead!
live nipplenahan reaction:
youtube
(as in, he was recording when he did the name change & posted it afterwards)
with that out of the way! this post is compilation of various nipplenahan related chat messages that i thought were funny as fuck & deserved to be seen :3 under the read more (IDs in ALT)
longer screenshots get a transcript under read more and will be in separate reblog additions ^-^

Mob Psycho 100 art for Gaza!
I'm hoping to contribute aid to the current crisis in Gaza, so I will be posting Mob Psycho 100 art for donations to Palestine GoFundMes! Current GoFundMe to Donate to: As of October 16th, 2024, Madleen's family has raised $55,967 out of their $70,000 goal. They are number 3 on the vetted evacuation fundraiser spreadsheet.
The way it works: I will be posting a new artwork every 2 donations or every 10 reblogs of this post, whichever happens first. (I'm hoping for mainly donations, but I wanted to make sure people who couldn't donate can also participate by sharing.) Once one of these conditions has been met, I will upload a new drawing. Finished milestone pieces will be posted in a separate post, and a link to the piece will be provided in a reblog of this post.
(Edit: I'm okay with repeat reblogs between milestones! Anything helps) The Fundraisers: I will select a GoFundMe that hasn't been filled yet to link to this post. I will be choosing fundraisers that are on the fundraiser spreadsheet vetted by Palestinian tumblr users. Once the fundraiser has met its goal, I will select another fundraiser.
The donations: If you are donating, please send a screenshot of the receipt with the date/time through an ask (it can be anonymous if you want).
The Drawings: My art is mainly focused on Mob Psycho 100, but it may be subject to change depending on which drawings are popular and what I decide to draw in the future.
The rules/general post are subject to change in the future, depending on the response to this post (ex: changing milestone conditions, adding extra artwork, opening requests, etc).
Please share and donate!

we've officially cracked 600 hours of dimension 20 with the final episode of titan takedown! 25 days (+ 46 minutes + 53 seconds) across 26 seasons (including oneshots & live shows).
over all those episodes (278 to be exact), we have some fluctuating averages:
the overall average comes to 2:09:40, with the highest full season average coming from fantasy high sophomore year at 2:36:41*, and the lowest coming from fantasy high, with 1:39:43. titan takedown runs close to average with 2:06:18.
it's also interesting to look at our overall runtimes; the main cast seasons count for over half of the run time**: 341:23:22, or 14 days, 5 hours, 23 minutes, and 22 seconds.
i'm excited to see where we go from here! see you on june 4th for cloudward, ho! check out the spreadsheet for raw data!
*the official highest is the MisMag oneshots, but given that they are oneshots, i'm counting them separate from the full seasons.
**including the oneshots and time quangle liveshows that have been released on dropout. 320:37:46 without.

Hi hi! I’d like to know what your Top 10 Holy Grail fics are? Like I’m talking about fics you would reccommend in a heart beat, fics that you feel are written extremely well that they feel like they should be published or something, fics that have really good pacing, right amount of fluff, angst, or smut. Or even ones that are just silly and fun. It would be cool to read some of your favs!
Hey Nonnie
First my standard answer to the top ten query...10!!! 10!!! You think i can narrow it down to 10!! LOLOLOL
Secondly, I'm flattered you want to know my preferences as a guide...but then that's what my spreadsheet is all about I guess. lol
Okay I did manage to keep myself to 30 fics and I will say I would live quite happily if the first 10 were all I was ever allowed to read for the ret of my life. Just saying. Heh
I've also included my reviews of each fic from my Spreadsheet of 2250+ Mirandy fics to explain my love for the fics.
If you want the fics that are no longer online just message me privately with your email and I'll send my zipped file of deleted Mirandy fics your way.
Happy Reading Nonnie

Top ten and why?
The Lady And Her Dragons by Bearblue https://archiveofourown.org/works/21738811/chapters/51860098
(WIP) OMG!!!!!!!!!! So amazingly wonderful and magical and well just damned hot! Full of myth and magic, Miranda and Cruella are real Dragons and Andy is their Lady. Magical machinations and battles ensue. The story is compelling and Bearblue controls the content of magical information absolutely beautifully, you're interest is captured, but you're not over whelmed with more information than what is required for the story she is telling. Again it has to be said. OMG!!! I have now read this fic over 500 times…and I mean that! Have read it once a week and sometimes 2 or 3 times a week for more than a decade.
Truth and Measure by Telanu https://archiveofourown.org/works/779826/chapters/1468543
The downfall of my anti Mirandy life that dragged me kicking and cursing into the heart of the Mirandyverse. This is what I call a Simchat Torah story. Much like the holiday in which the last chapter of Torah is read and then the first chapter immediately afterward to start the cycle again. And that's just what I did with this one. Miranda discovers after the separation with Stephen that she is pregnant and as she copes with that Andy helps her and eventually Miranda proposes a mutually beneficial relationship...which Andy then proceeds to turn on its head almost immediately. Excellently written and adored the characterisations of both women.
It’s All Relative by Hawkbehere https://archiveofourown.org/works/5884348/chapters/13561771
OMFG!! This is an amazing story. Well written and excellently paced as well. Post Paris H/C piece where Miranda is shot and Andy runs to her side to help and care for her.. A very complex and interesting characterisation of both M and A. The hints at Sub/dom with true love and respect were pitched absolutely meltingly perfect And the passion of Miranda's need for Andy is mind blowing.
Small Favors Series by Chillyflame https://archiveofourown.org/works/2793701/chapters/6270377
Andy wins a press award and sees Miranda. They talk and Andy acknowledges her feelings to herself. Andy sends a lily as a thank you. Hot first kiss in the conference room at the Mirror. The girls are very supportive as the relationship develops. INTERLUDE - Hot late night quickie in Miranda's office. BEAUTIFUL THINGS - sees the development of the relationship through some early rough spots. They're outed by Miranda's PR firm. Loved the twins with their pudding balloon bombs. HERE TO STAY - GOOD FORTUNE –
Fur No Thanks I’d Rather Go Naked by Writtensword (Deleted but I have the fic and can send it.)
Ooooooooooo so totally wonderful this story read it 3 times one after the other. Miranda is magically turned into a Mink and only Andrea can hear her speak and she takes care of her as they try to undo the spell. The characterisation of Mink Miranda is sooooooooooooooo terrific I want more Mink tales. heh Lovely denoument when Miranda turns back to her human form.
Like Andrea Series by Ginstan https://archiveofourown.org/series/1940092
Ooooooooooooooo romance, mystery, intrigue and damn fine writing! Loved this fic! Andy is alerted to the fact that Miranda needs help when Runway does an edition where every single model looks like her. She comes to Miranda's rescue and their relationship develops super fast and super beautifully.. And beautiful mini FOL crossover! heheh I adore the characterisations of a vulnerable Miranda and a very soft butch Andy.
A Failure to Communicate by thelastgoodname https://archiveofourown.org/works/5300144
Miranda decides to Marry Andy and is busy dictating the plans to Andy just one problem... She hasn't actually asked Andy out on a date yet or anything else. Cue a very confused Andy and a backpeddling Miranda. Ohhh my aching sides!!!! This is just soooooooooooo funny and sooooo well written. It's just brilliant!
Admiration by Punky_96 https://archiveofourown.org/works/14936337
Swooooooooooon!! Total romance and way HOT sex too! Miranda has a secret (not to us though) admirer who is leaving her daily gifts and notes. She becomes smitten and isn't quite sure until the big reveal. Beautifully written and I loved it, but it ends rather abruptly.
The Brutal Truth by Redcharcoal (Removed as it was published…both are AWESOME! FF is available in the FB Mirandy Group and in my deleted fic file.)
Wonderfully well written piece. Miranda claims to only want the Brutal truth and ends up having a bet with Andrea that she can't get an exclusive interview with a famous designer and the stakes are one day of absolute honesty for Andrea and one week for Miranda. Andy outs Stephen as a predator and Miranda fires her...but then she gets the exclusive interview with the Deuchamps and they become her friends.
Miranda’s Runway series by Jehc https://archiveofourown.org/works/1242412/chapters/2552452
Oh the joy of a well written and well crafted characterisation piece. Love this 4 years post Paris piece with Andy having a daughter she has actually named Miranda but who she calls Mandy who is somehting of an artistic prodigy. Andy has written a series of amazingly successful books on fashion but remains anonymous until she trades her privacy to foil Irvs latest almost successful coups against Miranda. Things follow on from there, when little Mandy meets Randa and they fall for each other as hard as Miranda falls for Andrea. Amazing fic.
The Fall and the Landing & 90 Days to Glory by Brithna/Ash_Mountain https://archiveofourown.org/works/481161
Warning: Character Death. My God almighty what a powerful piece of writing! This is not fanfiction, this is life, this is the most skillful playing of all that it is to be human, fragile, and to hold friendship and love as the reward for the pain and challenge that those prizes intrinsically bring with them. Have tissues ready, and be prepared to read with your heart and know that love is the force that truly connects all life.
On a Tractor by Bearblue https://archiveofourown.org/works/11696331/chapters/26333922
OMG! Absolutely brilliantly written long post Paris piece. Andy lends up inheriting a farm which she decides to run and she becomes quite the nature photographer as well. Miranda wants her farm for a photoshoot and goes out to visit and things take their natural course. Bear's writing is incredibly fluid and tinglingly evocative. Love the characterisation of Andy in this one. A Simchat Torah - immediate re-reader.
Break it Down With Joy by Winter156 https://archiveofourown.org/works/1394080
A drabble that is sheer perfection. A and M are friends, Andy has declared her love but Miranda has stated that they will never have a physical relationship, Andy stays anyway, suffering the pain of incompleteness, until that moment of decision. Excellently written, and soooo poignant.
By Heart by Chillyflame https://archiveofourown.org/works/2673044/chapters/5976851
Swooooooooooon, mushfest!! With lovely hot sexiness too. A H/C tale where Andy ends up with a broken leg on a ski weekend and Miranda cares for her in their cabin as they get snowed in for a couple of days and the heating fails heheh. But there is a fireplace and while 'keeping warm' one thing leads to another.
Basic Black by Beachbum https://archiveofourown.org/works/29045490
Brava BB, a lovely piece set post Paris. Nigel who has stayed friends with Andy decides to play matchmaker for the two women in his life. The description of Andy's suit was totally droolsome. And the love scene, wow, took my breath away. Loooooooooved the ending, god Miranda in nothing but a white dress shirt, but still so totally confident and in control of the situation. Yowsa!!
Disarming Athena by Politic X https://archiveofourown.org/works/11921940/chapters/26942895
Wonderful but sometimes distressing psychological exploration that occurs between Miranda and Andy. Many of the interactions take place in the elevator. Miranda appears to be torturing Andy with invitations and demands for her to touch her clothes but not her. Then she fires Andy and this behaviour continues as Andy works her notice. Eventual happy ending.
Hidden Yet Bright by needled_ink https://archiveofourown.org/works/97340
Swoooooooooooooon, a beautiful and well written short of a developing friendship gently shifting into more but without strings. Loved the chartacterisations of both Andy and Miranda.
In Some Quite Casual Way by Winter156 https://archiveofourown.org/works/621060/chapters/1120824
Holy mother of mountains what a fic. From a request for a story that involved a character with wings. Miranda is a fallen angel of sorts and saves Andy when she falls out a skyscraper window. Declarations of love, and serious sweaty snugglebunnies followed by major storyline and escellent denouement. Gret writing, amazing story, just amazing.
Lost Treasures by Jazwriter (Removed as it was published…both are AWESOME! FF is available in the FB Mirandy Group and in my deleted fic file.)
Wow! Andy works as a sales clerk and then a Window dresser in a small boutique. Her window designs cpature Miranda's attention and fascination. She takes Andy under her wing and mutual attraction sparks. Great little fic.
Objects and Space by Stormashke https://archiveofourown.org/works/15126698
Absolutely Stunning!!!! Compellingly written with just the right meter and timing. Wonderful internal dialogue from Miranda's pov in an established relationship. She travels through the different rooms of the house noting the evidence of Andy's presence that still bug her…but also noting their indications of Andy's space in her heart and the twins heart and the things she will live with in that space of love.
Rebellious Lock & When Locks Get Locked by Quiethearted http://ralst.com/RebelliousLock.HTM
Ohh soooooooo funny!!!! Miranda's hair has a mind of it's own and it's concentrating on one particular brunette. This is comic writing at it's best. I'm still chuckling.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee, sequel! Woohoo, Miranda's hair has awakened an interest from Andy's hair and all is set for the clash of the tresses. Oh soooo wonderfully funny, I so hope this series continues, I want postcoital follicle frolics. Heheh
Sharp Relief by chillyflame https://archiveofourown.org/works/2672990/chapters/5976701
AMAZING fic!!!!! Wow Andy gets a call reporting that Miranda has died in a car crash on her way to her weekend cabin. She goes into shock and faces the fact of how much she loved her. She helps with the twins and stays at the townhouse until there is another call that send her and the girls out into the night chasing a hope agaisnt hope. So amazing this.
The Lily and the Crown by Telanu (now published) https://archiveofourown.org/works/750438/chapters/1400746
Andren is the reclusive daughter of one of the Empires most capable Station Masters. Assistant - her new slave is the dread space Pirate Queen Mir. Seduction, debauchery, abandonment and redemption in this Space Swashbuckler.Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Gaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwdddddddddd!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!! Fluids!!!!!!! This is just soooooooooooo wonderfully hot and romantic and hot and well good god I loved it. Okay, perhaps the Andren character was a little bit tooo clueless, but perhaps wonderfully evocative of another time. Still it was a great story and really interesting.
Unexpected Grace by Silverie https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9092005/1/Unexpected-Grace
Amazingly well written fic starting with amazing dream sequances of ancient days and a Goddess/priestess Miranda, perfectly mirrored in a waking world of events. Andy expands her life into music when she comes to own a beautiful guitar decorated with a dragon...linking to her desire for a certain dragon lady. Lyrically written. Brilliant!!!!
A not exactly storybook romance by writetherest https://archiveofourown.org/works/923207/chapters/1793725
An AU where Andy is independently wealthy and owns a book store which Cassidy starts to visit daily as Andy befriends her. Eventually Miranda and she meet and after a bad decision it's a wonderfully sweet love story. Absolutely wonderful romance done here, adore the shier sweeter Andy.
Farsighted by emeraldorchids https://archiveofourown.org/works/6129537/chapters/14047437
Excellent mid length piece. All from Miranda's pov, chronicling how she and Andrea slip into a wonderful and easy friendship after Paris, that several months later morphs into more. What I love is the realness of Miranda in this fic as a full fledged human being all balance and counter balance with strengths and weaknesses. And I enjoyed the reality check and stunned Miranda after Andy kisses her. As well as the gradual exploration afterward. The upshot with the page six comment picture in bed is a perfect ending.
Four Corners by Chillyflame https://archiveofourown.org/works/1039309/chapters/2073686
Truth be told, this is a ten star effort. I looooved it! A phenomonally wonderful piece, well written and amazingly characterised. All told from Cassidy's pov as she lives her parents divorce, the advent and demise of Stephen and the new and wonderful inclusion of Andy in her mother's and the twins lives.
Caught Between the Moon and New York City Series by Punky_96 https://archiveofourown.org/series/1027544
Brilliant story of Miranda as a werewolf and pack leadercaptured by a secret research facility that captures and studies paranormal creatures where Andy works. Grat adventure unfolds as they escape and Andy's true nature is discovered. Excellently written and intriguing backstory.
After Dark by LiteraryAssasin https://archiveofourown.org/works/20560673/chapters/48807857
A wonderfully characterised slow burn, friends to lovers fic. Well written and engaging of course, from an excellent bard. Andy grows a backbone in the best and most proactive way…almost swapping some of her softness for some of Miranda’s firmness so that they can both balance themselves and each other. I adored Miranda’s oh so careful way of helping Andy while trying also not to overwhelm her with that help. A nifty little sub pairing of a mirrored couple is so seamlessly done it’s just amazing. Also touches on an idea I’ve had for quite some time…may have to dust that one off.
If and When by Kamuraskan https://archiveofourown.org/works/12821418/chapters/29271045
WOOT!!! No greater love hath a Bard for another Bard than to make an offering in a completely unfamiliar fandom. (Thanks Gin.) Most wonderfully well written and amazing Disaster/survival fic. Andy uncovers a terrorist plot to blow up the EC building the night the VP is attending a party there. She isn't believed by Homeland security so she approaches the new CEO of EC...Miranda they manage to evacuate the building but are still on the 20th floor when the bombs go off....suspense, love and amazingness commence.
