Moving Meditation Motivations Discovering the Right Focus Technique
There are some people who can sit through meditation while other individuals simply cannot. During a passive meditation they find themselves fidgeting and unable to focus. This leads to further frustrations, and an unwillingness to try any sort of meditation again.
The advice most people hear is to try again or that they were not doing it right. Well, guess what? There are other ways to possibly reach a meditative state of mind when your body is in motion. Moving meditation, if done accurately can give a person the same benefits as passive meditation where one sits.
How to Choose Your Activity
It should be something that engages you and holds your focus for an extended period roughly anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes a day. To gain a better meditative state one must do something that is continuous, fluid, methodical, and repetitive so that the movements become more automatic in time.
For example, a walk in the park at a steady pace putting your attention on your breath, and taking in the sights that surround you such as:
how the sun feels on your skin
the clouds overhead
if there is a wind breeze
examining the trees and their own leaves
It's all about the state of mind you're able to achieve being one of mindfulness, of living in the moment, of relaxed awareness.
Other Suggestions
Walk a Labyrinth: One walks clockwise in a circle or in a particular pattern towards the center of a destination point. It should not be like a maze where you find yourself frustrated towards the end, but choosing a pattern that fits you and your needs.
Qigong: This is a 5,000-year-old Chinese health exercise technique. Its goal is to synchronize the breath with the mind's intentions. One moves with flow and grace as they further learn this skill.  A regular practice can lower your blood pressure and boost your immunity, flexibility, and circulation.
Example:
1. Relax your body, imagining that your feet are sinking deep into the earth. Your hands are in front of your lower belly, palms facing each other, forming a ball of energy.
2. Inhale. Open your arms to the sides as if to expand the ball, while raising your arms, to shoulder height.
3. At shoulder level, turn the thumbs back and the palms up and exhale, releasing any tension from your body as you drop and relax your shoulders, elbows, and hands.
4. Inhale, as you raise your arms up over your head.
5. Palms facing down, deeply exhale as you lower them, “showering” the body with cleansing, revitalizing energy. Repeat three times.
Yoga Exercises: There are several different methods of yoga, some having religious dogma attached while others focus primarily on the exercises themselves. Everyone has different preferences, but if you are looking to simply relax and reach a meditative state then I suggest trying out the exercises themselves. This is a practice to connect the body and mind into one.
Tai Chi:  Short for Tai ji quan, or T'ai chi ch'üan, is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training, its health benefits and meditation. The term Taiji refers to a philosophy of the forces of yin and yang.
Karate Katas:  A practice of detailed patterns of movements either solo or in pairs. Karate kata are executed as a specified series of a variety of moves, with stepping and turning, while attempting to maintain perfect form.
Art: painting, drawing, etc.
Crafts: knitting, crocheting, paper folding, weaving, anything rhythmic.
Exercise: stationary bike, weightlifting, elliptical machine, step climbing, sports, etc.
Playing a game that has a repeating theme and is not too difficult that one can get into.
Music: focusing on the song's rhythm, beats, and possibly lyrics. Pick something that reached out to you as an individual.

Rehabilitative Biomechanics There are various exercise science and wellness promotion sub-disciplines, such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport nutrition, rehabilitative biomechanics, and sport psychology. Each relates to my career options as offering a significant approach to the workplace environment via a strong degree in kinesiology. The career path of my choice is to enter into rehabilitative biomechanics and therefore to pursue a degree in kinesiology, so as to become familiar with using exercises and machines to help injured persons become mobile again. The study will focus on the mechanics of movement and how the anatomy of the body impacts range of motion and what can be done to strengthen specific target areas of the body. As far as certification or licensing goes, it all depends on which type rehabilitation I would like to specialize in. I could obtain certification for golfers looking to maintain their bodies for the sport from the Titleist Performance Institute. Or I could obtain a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Engineering through any number of universities around the country. The Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America is very helpful in laying out all the possible options for individuals, and their website is very clear about what is needed. A typical job description for a rehabilitative biomechanics professional would include working with injured persons to strengthen or restore range of movement by using exercises and/or machines (such as canes, walkers, crutches, orthotics, prostheses, and wheelchairs). Involved in the job is working directly with individuals on a daily or weekly basis in a variety of settings; understanding the maximum number of options for a variety of injuries, and having empathetic people skills that can bolster and strengthen relationships so as improve morale and boost motivation. Continuing education requirements for this career would be wholly up to the individual, but what would be recommended is that trainers and rehabilitative biomechanics professionals be involved in the same spheres and have the same sense of what is expected of professional athletes and non-professional athletes, and what new developments in exercise and nutrition are helpful in restoring strength and movement. This would call for continuing education, seminars, becoming a member of societies like the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America, and participating in studies and symposiums. A job description for a more terminal level in this career might be: experienced rehabilitative specialist that works with professional baseball athletes in leg work and arm work and contributes to the overall rehabilitation of injured players throughout the year. Why I am interested in this career is that I love athletics and I admire professional athletes, so I want to be able to help them, as they provide a great deal of hope, support and entertainment to communities, both young and old. So if some of these players become injured I would like to be able to help them to rehabilitate through various exercises and machines. I may not be able to start at a high level right out of the gate, but I would like to work my way up. https://www.paperdue.com/customer/paper/sports-medicine-and-rehabilitating-athletes-2161522#:~:text=Logout-,SportsMedicineandRehabilitatingAthletes,-Length2pages Read the full article

Executive Search Firms vs. In-House Recruitment: Which Is More Effective?
Finding the right talent for your organisation is a critical task that can shape the success and growth of your business. In the current job market, businesses have the option to either engage with executive search firms or rely on in-house recruitment efforts. Both approaches come with their own advantages and disadvantages, so which one is more effective? Let's explore the differences and benefits of each option.
Why Executive Search Firms Shine
When it comes to finding top-tier talent, Executive Search Firms are like expert matchmakers for your organisation. These specialised agencies are seasoned in the art of talent acquisition. They don't just skim the surface; they delve deep into their networks, seeking out professionals who not only meet your requirements but also align with your company's culture and vision.
In-house teams, on the other hand, may sometimes be limited by their existing networks. They might not have the expansive reach and industry-specific expertise that Executive Search Firms bring to the table. This can be a game-changer, especially when you're hunting for niche skills or executive-level positions.
Saving Time and Resources
Time is of the essence in the competitive world of recruitment. When you partner with an Executive Search Firm, you're essentially tapping into a well-oiled machine. These firms are equipped with streamlined processes, cutting-edge tools, and a laser focus on your needs. They eliminate the need for prolonged advertising, sifting through mountains of resumes, and conducting initial screenings. Instead, they present you with a curated selection of candidates, saving you invaluable time and resources.
In-house teams, while committed, may face capacity limitations. Juggling multiple roles and responsibilities, they might not be able to dedicate the same level of focus to each search. This can lead to a longer recruitment cycle, potentially resulting in missed opportunities.
Confidentiality and Expertise
Certain hires require the utmost discretion. Whether it's a sensitive leadership position or a confidential project, Executive Search Firms excel in maintaining confidentiality throughout the process. Their reputation is built on trust, and they understand the critical nature of safeguarding your organisation's interests.
In-house recruitment teams, while dedicated, may find it challenging to maintain the same level of confidentiality, especially if they're handling multiple searches simultaneously. Executive Search Firms specialise in this aspect, providing an added layer of assurance.
Tumblr media
Weighing In-House Recruitment Against Executive Search Firms
While in-house recruitment might seem like a cost-effective option on the surface, it's essential to consider the bigger picture. Executive Search Firms operate on a contingency or retainer fee basis, which may appear higher at first glance. However, when you factor in the saved time, reduced turnover rates, and access to top-tier talent, the return on investment often surpasses the initial expense.
In-house recruitment, on the other hand, may incur hidden costs in the form of advertising, applicant tracking systems, and additional administrative overhead. It's crucial to evaluate the long-term benefits against the immediate expenses.
The Winning Strategy
Ultimately, the most effective approach often lies in finding a harmonious balance between Executive Search Firms and in-house recruitment. Leverage the specialised expertise of search firms for crucial roles while nurturing your in-house team's capabilities for ongoing hiring needs. This synergistic strategy can unlock a powerful recruitment engine that propels your organisation towards sustained success.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while both Executive Search Firms and in-house recruitment have their merits, the former often emerges as the champion for critical, high-stakes hires. Their expertise, extensive networks, and confidentiality assurances can make all the difference in securing the best talent for your organisation.
So, when it's time to make that game-changing hire, consider enlisting the services of an Executive Search Firm. It might just be the catalyst your organisation needs for soaring success!

A White Future, Volume 2 Episode: Ion, Sync, & Florian Translation Part 2
Prev | Next
This part shows us the births of Ion, Florian, and Sync—overseen by Mohs and Van, as well as a new character named Ahmed. Be warned that this chapter contains a lot of dehumanization on their part. They really don’t see replicas as anything more than tools that happen to breathe. Ahmed is a bit nicer, in that he feels bad, but like... he’s still part of this lol
* * *
In a dimly-lit room, a huge fon machine repeatedly flashed with light. It groaned faintly, probably due to the fact that the operation was taking longer than planned.
"Try measuring again." Van Grants ordered Ahmed.
Hearing frustration in Van’s voice, Ahmed glanced over at Grand Maestro Mohs. When his boss nodded, he picked up the measuring instrument.
Three boys stood side by side on the platform next to the fon machine. None of them wore anything, and their pale skin was exposed to the air. Their dainty shoulders, their thin legs, and even their facial features were exactly the same.
The first replica they’d made was better left unspoken. Van and his team had killed it on the spot. It was only with the second one that they managed to get a replica that they could look at.
Ahmed stood in front of the boy on the far left and held a measuring device to his vacant eyes to examine his Seventh Fonon level. Then, he placed a small piece with an embedded fonon circuit on his forehead.
“No change," he said. “Both in terms of the Seventh Fonon and physical capacity, he’s too lacking.”
“Mnh." Mohs folded his arms, making no attempt to hide his displeasure “Does this mean that the original Ion is too sickly and weak for this?”
“No, we should be able to adjust a little more… We can increase the steps as far as the equilibrium can be maintained." Van stated, reaching for the control panel of the fon machine.
Ahmed took the second boy's measurements, but the result was the same.
“Ah!"
Suddenly, the boy on the far right let out a short cry and fell down.
“Hey, are you all right?” Ahmed rushed to hold the boy in his arms, but his vacant eyes were sightless.
“…I’m okay…I’m okay… I…”
“That’s enough." Mohs jerked his chin towards a corner. “Put those three over there.”
“Yes, Grand Maestro.”
Immediately, the assistants took the three boys the corner of the room. One of the boys crouched there, one collapsed, and the other just stood there as if in a daze.
Well, I guess it's better that they can talk. I heard that the replica you built before couldn't even walk. If you've imprinted basic skills on it this well, the rest should be a lot easier.” Mohs said to Van with a sarcastic smile.
Van chuckled to himself as he recalled the replica of Luke fon Fabre that he had once left at Choral Castle.
That was certainly terrible, that's for sure. Even if there was nothing wrong with his body, he was like a baby, and he couldn't even chew or defecate, let alone walk…’
Van was able to come and go from Duke Fabre’s manor, acting as Luke’s sword instructor. In his opinion, the replica had too many personality problems.
‘His blind trust in me makes him easy to handle.’
This time, however, was different. They had to create a complete Fon Master Ion before the time of the original’s passing mentioned in the Score.
A perfect replica that no one would know when it had been replaced - or, for that matter, that the original had even been replaced. Van flipped a switch on the control panel.
“The fifth replica is complete," his assistant announced.
“Measure it. I'll keep trying for more.”
At Van's instruction, Ahmed and the others tried to get the new boy to stand on the platform. To their surprise, the boy leapt to his feet and stood up with a surprising amount of grace.
“Impressive," said Ahmed. “The Fon Master isn’t this agile, though.”
“How are his levels?” Mohs and Van asked almost simultaneously.
“As I told Mohs, his athletic abilities are superb. But, out of the five we’ve made… his seventh fonons are the lowest…” Ahmed said.
“What the hell!?" Mohs threw his pen to the floor. The tip of the pen flew off and made a small scratch on the fifth boy’s thigh. Vivid red blood dripped down, contrasting the boy’s pale skin. “Van, enough of this—”
But Van kept quiet and continued to adjust the controls. The boy was put with the other three.
The sixth one's physical capacity was, once again, impaired.
“We'll try one more to finish up, and if it doesn't go well, we'll try again later," Van said. “The fon machine will break if we keep this up.”
Van made that decision alone, and reached out his finger to the control panel again.
The fon machine let out a low roar. But, Mohs had already sat deep in his chair and closed his eyes. He no longer expected anything.
“I'll measure it.”
Ahmed used the measuring device with a fatigued motion.
“How is it?” Van asked as he approached the seventh replica.
“This one…might be good. Please take a look.”
At the sound of Ahmed’s voice, Mohs slowly opened one eye.
“The value of the Seventh Fonon is outstanding. It's as good as the original.”
“However, it seems to me that it’s quite frail.”
Seeing Ahmed and Van nodding at each other, Mohs finally stood up.
“Fon Master Ion has always been prone to illness. I don't care if it has a high level of ability. Replicas are just means to an end, anyway.”
Van looked at the Grand Maestro.
“I'll use this one, then. However, as I explained before, we need to make some adjustments to improve stability until the original passes away. Please coordinate with the education team,” Van told him matter-of-factly.
“I know that. I'll leave the rest to you,” Mohs said in a pompous manner and turned to leave the room, looking exhausted. Before he could, Ahmed asked,
“Mohs, what about the five we have left over?”
“Oh? What about them? Kill them.”
“But…”
“Then dump them in the Zaleho volcano. They'll die there on their own.”
“…Understood,” Ahmed sighed as his boss disappeared from sight.
“Don’t worry about it,” Van chuckled faintly. “Whether you stab them with a blade or starve them to death, when they die they will simply disappear without a trace.”
“I know, but it doesn't feel good." Ahmed shook his head.
“All you need to do is get used to it.”
As Van approached the five bodies awaiting disposal, he looked at them with an absentminded air. Then,
“It was regrettable…the synchron level was a problem,” Van said as he tapped his finger against one’s forehead.

Leaning over the glass counter filled with endless prizes, Jaemin holds out two large plushies, one in each of his hands.
“Pikachu or Spongebob?” He swivels his head to them individually before beaming down at the little girl in front of him.
With the alternating supervision of her parents, she’s been one of the recent regulars at the arcade and finally saved up enough tickets fo a decent prize, deciding to cash them in today. Her face lights up and targets in on one particular plushie, already inching towards it with open hands.
“Pikachu, Pikachu!” she squeals.
The worker’s smile deepens, “Great choice. Couldn’t have picked better myself.”
He laughs airily as she squeezes Pikachu like it’s the last thing she’ll ever love, bouncing up and down with joy. Today, the girl’s mom is with her and she holds her ecstatic daughter close to her leg, rubbing her arm warmly.
“So I guess I’ll see you two next week?” Jaemin asks.
“If she gets over Pikachu as fast as she did with Olaf, then probably yes,” the mom replies with a defeated head shake. “Thanks again, Jaemin. Say bye to the nice boy.”
“Bye, Jaemin!”
The mother and daughter wave good-bye with wide smiles, as did Jaemin. Giving prizes out and seeing the delightful reactions on the recipient’s face was one of the best parts of his job.
Oh, and so was being able to play all the arcade games for free.
For Jaemin, being the arcade attendant at the local mall was a dream come true. He was once in the same place as the little girl—always coming to the same arcade every day after school. Although he loved winning prizes (who doesn’t?), he also prided himself in being the best at every game, knowing all the secrets and strategies like the back of his hand. Dance Dance Revolution, Street Fighter, Beatmania, Time Crisis, Super Bike, Pac-Man… You name it, and Jaemin can wipe the floor with anybody. It’s why none of his friends liked to play the games with him, but they still had fun nonetheless.
“That girl is insane!” Chenle exclaims with a point of his thumb, strolling up to the counter. He’s one of Jaemin’s many friends and an everyday mall-goer. Jisung comes up next to him, also a friend and works at the mall’s McDonald’s. The mall was really a second home to them all.
Jisung bobs his head in disbelief. Then, he turns to face their worker friend.
“You’ve gotta admit she’s really good, right?”
The lanky figure cocks an eyebrow. “What are you guys talking about? I was busy giving out a prize to someone.”
The shortest individual of the three widens his eyes. “There was a girl who was just playing Super Bike. She kept kicking everyone’s ass, even us.”
Jisung nods fervently, “I was telling Chenle that she’s probably as good as you, maybe even better.”
Jaemin scoffs, running a hand through his hair. “No one can beat me at Super Bike, you both know that.”
“You haven’t seen her play, though…” Chenle sighs dreamily, perching his chin into his palms, as he drifts off into space and replays the gameplay in his mind.
“I don’t know, Jaemin,” Jisung shrugs. He absentmindedly fiddles with the bundle of tickets left by the little girl. “It’s about time someone beat you at one of the games.”
Suddenly, Jaemin snatches the tickets from his hands, startling the younger boy. Said younger boy glances up to meet a pair of slitted, burning eyes. In an instant, Jaemin’s eyes melt and a cocky expression flashes by.
“Like I always say, I never lose.”
He begins to count the tickets, but the thought of someone being better than him makes him lose track.
After he finishes counting the tickets, he casually checks-up on the motorcycle racing simulator to see what all the fuss was about. To his disappointment, he is met with a young boy, playing by himself.
Jaemin makes a mental note to keep an eye and ear out for this mystery Super Bike girl.
Tumblr media
A few days pass. You’re at the mall by yourself to kill some time and to procrastinate on studying. You spent a while at the bookstore already, so you decide to do something a little more fun.
At the bustling arcade, you’re quickly drawn towards the claw machine with the mountain of plushies. You know the odds of winning are low, but one round couldn’t hurt. Placing your money into the claw machine, you begin to fiddle with the joystick. However, nothing’s moving.
Your face crinkles in confusion, so you add money again, thinking that maybe it was a one-time fluke. Nope, definitely not a fluke because the claw still doesn’t work. You’re now two dollars down and you didn’t even get the chance to play.
Walking around the arcade, you try to find a worker, but to no avail. You stand in front of the glass counter, waiting for an attendant. While waiting, you’re peering at all the variety of prizes to be won and wish you were skilled and patient enough to obtain such things. It’s no wonder why the claw machine drew you in, at least that game filled you with a false sense of a fast and easy win.
After finishing a supervising round in the arcade, Jaemin notices a girl at the front counter. Actually, scratch that, a stunning girl—one that he hasn’t seen in the arcade before. He’d definitely remember you if you had. The ends of his mouth stretch and he strides towards you with a wind of confidence.
“Hi, do you need help with something?”
Jolting slightly, you’re taken aback by both the handsome figure and the question. You saw him earlier at one of the games, but it never crossed your mind that such a young, attractive guy like that would be the resident arcade attendant. You subconsciously do a double take, eyeing him up and down, causing Jaemin’s grin to become more cheeky.
“Hi, yeah,” You point to where you were previously. “I was trying the claw machine and it took my money, but it didn’t let me play any rounds.”
“Oh?” He scrunches his face and heads toward the machine. You follow behind. “We just fixed it a few weeks ago, that’s weird.”
At the claw machine, Jaemin feels around the machine, checking on the knobs and buttons, and even places a coin into it to test out your claim. He tinkers with the joystick, and realizes you’re right; the machine’s only taking money without allowing any plays.
So he kicks it. Hard.
You break out into a chortle. “Does that actually help?”
“Always works like a charm.”
Another kick, and more chortling.
Jaemin shifts his head towards you and places a hand on his chest. His eyes waver, searching around him as if someone would be listening, and lowers his voice in a hush.
“I’m a secret machine whisperer, you gotta trust me,” he says with a small wink, and you trust him by standing back and resuming to observe him with a fluttering heart.
The attendant tries the machine with money once more, but the kicking evidently didn’t help. This only leads Jaemin to increase the intervals of his kicking. Soon, kicking evolves into desperately shaking the contraption.
Bemused and shaking your head, you comment, “I don’t think your whispering is working very well.”
He attempts one last time, but to nobody’s surprise, it fails. He tapes an out of order sign onto the glass. With hands on his hips, he exhales a lengthy sigh.
“Sorry for your lost money. I can give you a refund.”
“Aw, no. It’s okay, it was only a couple of bucks. I was more so looking forward to playing the game, really.”
A lightbulb goes off in Jaemin’s head.
“Did you wanna play a game with me to make up for it instead?”
Although he enunciates the question slowly, cautious of your reply and potential rejection, there’s a contrasting smug expression on his face. Your teeth tug at your bottom lip, about to answer, but then you pout.
“Aren’t you working right now though?”
Jaemin shrugs nonchalantly, “It’s kind of slow at the moment and I can argue that I’m maintaining the game.”
“Like what you were just doing with the claw machine?”
“Exactly.”
Both of you laugh in unison, gazes converging together. If only the strong sparks flying between you two could somehow fix the claw machine... but then again, you would’ve never had a reason to speak to the beautiful boy in the first place.
“Sure, what game did you have in mind?”
Tapping a finger on his chin, Jaemin runs the possibilities in his head. What’s a game that he can easily impress you with his skills, but is also equally fun for you to play?
“Super Bike?” he offers.
You nod with a small smile, “Okay, lead the way.”
Thankfully, as the two of you arrive at the game, no one’s currently playing. You jump onto the left motorcycle, while Jaemin gets onto the right. He enjoys how you cutely sway back and forth, accustoming yourself to the fake motorbike. He gives you a quick breakdown of the controls, and tells you to focus only on the gas and brake since he’ll choose automatic transmission to make things easier for you. You hum with puffed cheeks, ready to play.
Following Jaemin’s choices of the easiest map level and transmission settings, the race immediately starts.
Jaemin can play Super Bike in his sleep, so he starts off the first half of the lap with his eyes on his screen, then for the second half, he looks over at you for a few moments. You’re glued to your screen. The glint in your eyes sparkles with pure amusement and an edge of competitiveness. He breathes in the enticing sight, especially as you bite your lip with heightened focus.
But then, flashes of red flare upon your face. Jaemin’s heart knocks nervously at his chest because the flashes are coming from the sign above your screen with the words ”RACE LEADER”. He’s dragged straight into the match again, not wanting to lose.
“Have you played this before?” he shouts over the background noises and music.
“Only a few times,” you shrug lightly. Your eyebrows raise as Jaemin catches up, trailing almost nose to nose with the end of your motorcycle, yet the finish line is approaching fast. Narrowing your eyes, you accelerate and curve around the last bit of the map without struggle. Before you know it, you reach the finish line right before Jaemin does.
As the first place win radiates from your screen, you pump your arms in the air and remove yourself from the bike.
On the other hand, Jaemin’s gaze is stuck on the screen, jaw hanging. The big two taunts him with every flicker.
“Well, that was fun. Thanks for the game—”
You’re about to ask for his name, but his odd reaction catches you off-guard. You take a step closer to him until someone cries out:
“That’s Super Bike girl!”
Swinging your head towards the origin of the cry, you see a boy jog over with a wave of his index finger. Chenle’s voice breaks the arcade attendant out of his frozen state. Jaemin whips his head towards you, still on the motorbike.
“You’re Super Bike girl?!” he echoes, eyebrows knitted.
“I already have a nickname around here?” you giggle. “I only played this game once a few days ago.”
Chenle asks him, “Did Biker Girl beat you?”
Jaemin avoids the inquiry, darting his eyes and pressing his lips together tightly. The friend passes the question onto you with owl eyes, and you shyly nod.
“Oh, my God, and I missed it?!” He huffs in disappointment, but then recollects himself as he takes a few steps toward you.
“Are you free after seven to come back and play again? Our friends need to witness this. This is history in the making.”
Immediately, Jaemin shoots daggers into Chenle. The daggers definitely have profanities written all over. You catch a glimpse of Jaemin and can practically read every word.
“Uhm,” you lower your voice, despite the fact Jaemin can still hear you. “Your friend looks pretty pissed. I feel kinda bad to just come back to beat him in front of people.”
“Oh, don’t worry about feeling bad,” the attendant’s friend waves his hand carelessly. “He always makes us feel bad when he constantly brags about how he’s the best at every game in here.”
“Is that so?” You glance at the boy on the bike with a new perspective. You could definitely see this guy as cocky, but maybe he’s still sweet underneath the exterior. You also wouldn’t mind seeing him once more before you head home, and now you had a reason.
“Well, count me in. I’ll be back at seven on the dot.”
With a flutter of your fingers, you say your temporary good-byes to the pair of boys and head out of the arcade. Jaemin finally props himself off the motorbike, getting back to work.
Passing by Chenle, he half-jokingly seethes, “I hate you,” into his ear.
Without a care in the world, Chenle frantically messages their group chat to come by the mall later to witness the match of a lifetime.
Tumblr media
“Hey, did I miss it?” Mark pants as he puts an arm around Jeno from behind.
“No, you got here right on time. Super Bike girl should be coming any time soon.”
On the backend of the motorbike, Jaemin sits at the edge of it, studying the modest crowd around the racing simulator. Along with Jisung and Chenle, several of Jaemin’s other close friends are here to cheer for his downfall. For those who aren’t there, his friends are equipped with their phones in hand, ready to record the monumental event.
Weaving through the crowd with mumbles of “Excuse me’s,” you reach your destination and appear in front of the arcade worker.
The rising buzz of the crowd fades from your ears and into the background within his presence. You melt at him looking so coolly, bending over the motorbike with folded arms, and give him a warm smile.
“Just because you’ve got a sweet smile, it doesn’t mean I’m going to go easy on you.”
You playfully drop your mouth as the people around “Ooooh” in harmony. Your tongue is pressed against your lower teeth as Jaemin spins himself to the front of the bike. You get onto your previous seat from hours ago, grasping onto the fake vehicle as if you owned it.
You watch Jaemin enter the settings in. He’s not underestimating you this time and he executes his promise of not going easy on you—the hardest map and manual transmission are chosen, signaling you to really bring your A-game for this round.
At first, the match is tight. You’re practically side by side on the map, even having the occasional opportunity to push him off track and vice-versa. Changing up techniques, as the second lap rings in, you switch transmission gears and ease on the brake for a brief moment, hugging the curve of the map.
With that move, the red light flashes above him. Jaemin believes, no, he knows he’s going to win. Sweet victory is on the tip of his tongue, he can taste it. Ten seconds are left on the clock, ten seconds left until he beats you and continues to reign king of the game.
But, you suddenly speed past him and the game’s over before he can properly process it.
The screams surrounding you engulf the entirety of the arcade.
Jaemin’s mouth is on the floor as he realizes he lost.
No, his mouth is six feet under because you’re currently entering a nickname into the all-time best rankings. You beat Jaemin’s time on the map, seizing the new first place rank for the game.
Everyone circles you in congratulations, but your eyes are honed in on one individual in the crowd. He hops off the bike, brushes past the crowd, and escapes to the counter, continuing his shift like nothing happened. Hastily, you go after him and find him crouching down behind the glass. He’s unpacking boxes filled with what you assume are prizes.
On your forearms, you lean over the glass counter. “Hey, when does your shift end?”
Your assumption is answered as you see him restock some of the plushies in the transparent container underneath you.
“Why do you want to know? So you can beat me again at another game?” he grumbles, the bitterness blatant in his voice. Nevertheless, you persist.
“‘Cause Super Bike girl wants to get to know the cute Arcade Boy she met today over dinner.”
He pauses and his eyebrows perk up at the words cute and dinner in the same sentence. His ego is still sore, but he’ll bite.
“Is it a date?” he presses further with a disinterested tone, continuing to move the items.
You drag your bottom lip up, drumming your fingers slowly against the glass.
“Only if you want it to be.”
Your words bandage his sore ego quickly, but he wants to bathe in his pity a little while longer. He twists his mouth, fighting against the urge to show you his teeth.
The boy stands up and leans over the counter too. He’s greeted by your strong aura, yet it doesn’t completely reach your eyes; your gaze is soft and gentle. “I get off at nine, so it’s pretty late.”
“That’s okay. I can play games until then—”
You peel yourself off from the glass and properly introduce yourself, holding your hand out. He glances at it for a second, then at your tender look. He gives in and can't help himself from grinning. The arcade attendant reaches for your hand and reciprocates the shake.
“I’m Jaemin.”
That day, Jaemin learned that losing at the arcade games wasn’t the worst thing in the world.
Tumblr media
EPILOGUE
Clutching onto Jaemin’s waist underneath his leather jacket with your chin resting on his shoulder, you’re swaying side by side with him on the racing game that brought you two together. It’s his day off today, and both of you thought it’d be cute to spend some time at the arcade before the movie showing later that evening.
“Ease on the gas!” you dictate. He rolls his eyes at your backseat driving.
“No, it’s too early!” he protests and goes against your advice, accelerating further. When that makes him go off-road a bit, you sigh smugly while he groans meekly.
“See, and this is why I’m better at Super Bike than you,” you tease before pecking a kiss on his cheek. Tingles rise to his cheeks.
“Yeah, but I’ve played this game a lot longer than you.” It’s the second lap and he’s inching towards the finish line.
“Yeah, but who holds the record?”
After he speeds through it, the list of the best times roll onto the screen. Your nickname still stands proudly at number one from the day you asked him out on a date.
Jaemin smiles at the not-so far memory. He then twists and extends his neck over his shoulder, sharing a sweet kiss with you. Your grip around his waist tightens, your fingers sinking into his skin. His palm raises and cups your face, deepening the kiss.
Breaking away for a moment, he says, “Yeah, well, I’m the better kisser.”
You sweep your nose against his. “That’s up for debate…”
Your lips meet once more lovingly.
“Can you guys stop making out in the arcade again?” Jisung groans. “Kids are here, you know. Like me.”
Chenle cuts in, “I thought you were glad someone beat Jaemin for once.”
“I mean, yeah, but I didn’t expect the same person to have her tongue constantly down his throat!”
Still lip-locked, Jaemin and you smile into the next kisses from their remarks while Jisung and Chenle run off to play another game, far away from the new couple.

Beta-Test Playthrough Results!
So I just finished up my first beta-test playthrough of this gender-lock-free mod, and I almost cried seeing it come to life honestly LOL.
To be 100% honest, I love the Pegasus Knight class line—it’s my favorite class—but I usually prefer playing as male avatar characters so I never really was able to enjoy any of the games to the fullest ㅠㅠ (except for Fates which thankfully is mostly free from the gender-lock haha)
But anyways, here’s my experience with this test-playthrough, along with who I reclassed and how they performed:
(Warning: REALLY long post coming!)
M!Robin, M!Morgan (Pegasus Knight, Dark Flier [Robin], Falcon Knight [Morgan])
I mean, Robin’s Robin LOL. Now that both male and female Robin have the exact same class access, there’s no more weird distinction between the two’s performance since they can both access Galeforce (and you can enjoy playing the gender you prefer playing without worrying you’re missing out on one thing!). I don’t really need to explain much, since no matter what build Robin does, they’ll always be insanely strong.
Same with Morgan too, but I was so happy to see my son as a Pegasus Knight LOL.
Ricken (Pegasus Knight, Dark Flier)
Ricken was the first one I reclassed since Dark Flier Ricken sounded really fun to use. The beginning was a little bit of a struggle since his strength is really low so getting past E-rank lances made his killing potential low, but Pegasus Knight’s bases relieve his speed issue and he was able to double from the get-go. He wasn’t too far off from Sumia’s offensive start. Thankfully though, I found 2 Shocksticks and that lasted him until Dark Flier promotion.
Once he promoted to Dark Flier, he definitely maintained his place as my staple tome-user. His speed and skill were consistently even and the class really helps him out by giving him the speed to double most enemies (with a Valkyrie Henry pair-up). The best part was that Dark Flier Ricken isn’t overpowered in the slightest, but the class just improves his performance. The strangest thing though was that his defense was second to Cherche? How that happened, I have no idea LOL.
Panne (Barbarian, Berserker)
To be 100% honest, I’ve never been a fan of the Berserker/Warrior classes in the first place, and I was contemplating between Wyvern Rider and Barbarian for Panne. I ended up choosing Barbarian mainly because I actually had the chance to, so I did it for the sake of the gender-lock-removal. However, I didn’t have her sprites completed, and I only had her custom sprite for Barbarian.
As expected, she had the highest strength stat in my whole army, and thankfully her naturally high skill stat kept her hit rates high—which low hit rates tend to be a problem for Berserkers.
I always used Panne as a lead with Wyvern as her class, but since she was an infantry unit, I found that I kept her in the back (supporting Cordelia) more often than before. This was mainly due to movement, but I used them about 50/50 after I chose to reclass Cordelia into a Hero.
Overall, Berserker Panne is an insane offensive lead unit, and with Axefaire, she’ll excel either as a Berserker or Wyvern Rider. Just keep her away from Mages haha.
Henry (Valkyrie)
Henry is another one of those units that benefit significantly from the gender-lock, with access to Troubadour/Valkyrie. I skipped out on Troubadour, and went straight to Valkyrie after Second Seal-ing at level 10 Sorcerer--that way he ended up as an offensive Valkyrie rather than supportive.
The main thing that benefits Henry is Valkyrie’s base speed. He strangely has a low base in speed, but a decently high growth at 40% (higher than Cordelia’s). Valkyrie bumps up his speed by 4 points, which does make a difference.
Henry’s actually great once his speed issue is fixed, like with his high skill piled with Vengeance, he can become a crit machine. The biggest downside though is that he can’t utilize Dark Tomes as a Valkyrie and he loses 5 points of defense (still the tankiest out of any of the other Troubadours lol).
I paired him with Ricken--who was a Dark Flier (aka Galeforce-user), so I had Ricken lead and Henry support, but Henry was definitely viable leading Ricken as well. Usually, the pattern with these two went: Ricken kills, triggers Galeforce, then Henry takes the 2nd kill.
Gaius (Falcon Knight)
Gaius was one of the last characters I reclassed. I originally wasn’t planning on reclassing him since the Thief line works well enough for him, but I was thinking about and I was like “nah, I’ll do it.” So, I ended up Second Seal-ing him at level 10 Assassin.
Since Cordelia has Mercenary in her class set, I had Gaius and Cordelia switch weapon duties.
Falcon Knight and Assassin roughly have similar stats, so his offensive performance wasn’t drastically different (extra Res was a plus). The plus side was that, with his amazing speed and WTA against swords, he was one of the few that could double late-game Swordmasters. But what really upped his game was that he became a FLYING LOCKPICK.
I’m the type of player that likes to open every single chest in each map, and having Gaius soar around the field made things a lot easier and quicker.
Also, did you know that Pegasus Knights have a special Lethality animation? It’s different from their crit animation haha.
~*~*~
And there you have it! I also had several of my 2nd gen units in gender-lock-removed classes, and I’ll probably make another post about them later.
Last but not least, now that I’m complete with this playthrough, I’ll be getting back into working on the sprites. I have about 104 left to go (256/360 complete), so I’m hoping to release this mod by next month or February!

MORE HEADCANONSSSSS
Some alteration and rearrangement of genetic code takes place for Creations constructed from human bodies, evidenced by remains of double helix blueprints- nevertheless, all Creations are bionic, fundamentally chemically reconstructed artificial lifeforms, and therefore classify as essentially immortal artificial organisms.
When a Creation is first born, their first instinct is to undergo a hibernation of sorts to regain their strength. These strange types of comas can last from five to nearly twenty years, and in some rare cases, up to fifty. In Gregory’s case, he slept nearly sixty years because of how his soul essentially split into two after death due to William messing with his body, as well as his remnant being so corrupted it was essentially rendered non-functional and useless even before his death.
Early Creations do not feel pain the way humans do, yet they experience intense fear, rage, sorrow and displeasure when damaged. Gregory’s (EV-300) and Robin’s (RB-200) sensors are VASTLY more sophisticated, so they are unable to ignore pain the way their predecessors do so. Because of their nature, Creations are able to operate on an impressive level of autonomy soon after their birth, better than any ordinary machine can.
Gregory and Robin possess a vast repository of technical knowledge, and are very skilled in technology and hacking as per their nature as partial machine. They are able to run self-diagnostics on their systems and components, check for damage and seek nearby replacements, update antivirus software, and handle any minor issues (i.e. self-repair of minor injuries of both hardware and software breaches) that arise. However, if they are in low energy mode, they need someone else to run diagnostics for them.
Creations are extremely scarce in number, and their existence to humanity takes the form of being lesser known, yet powerful and extolled mythical beings- beasts of legend. Some Creations were utilized for warfare purposes, others for labor before the almost-complete slaughter of all Creations. Some in Zanado were treated the same as humans, and even exalted to a higher status- some were even treated as royalty, allowed to further continue a prosperous rule even after death.
Creations engage in various habits of temperature control, despite being able to withstand said temperatures. Humanoid Creations may have a tendency to open their chest plates to cool themselves off if their respiratory systems fail or are not enough to regulate temperatures, and if cold, they increase their energy generated from their Tesseract Core or snuggle against humans or other mammalian, non cold-blooded animals to maintain warmth- they even sunbathe akin to how reptilians do so.

2020: A Year in Thirst
In 1985, Gabriel Garcia Marquez gave the world Love in the Time of Cholera.  In 2020 (er, I guess it’s now 2021), I give to you, Thirst in the Time of Covid-19 or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Embrace the Thirst, a brief recap of all the dramas I watched in 2020 and whether such dramas made yours truly parched..
The list contains dramas that premiered in 2020, but also dramas from previous years.  If I watched it or attempted to watch it in 2020, it’s on the list.
EDIT: Ok, I’m going to have to do this in multiple parts because apparently I watched more dramas in 2020 than I remembered and talking about them all in one post would just be too long.
This also serves as a sort of greeting to all the people who recently followed me.  I don’t know how or why, but thank you for being interested in my thirst, and also so sorry for everything you have/will witness here!  I started this side blog last December 2019 as a place to dump all my fangirl feels and thirst with unbridled abandon and let’s just say, the thirst REALLY ramped up in 2020 during quarantine and all the political chaos/uncertainty.  The state of the world may be uncertain, but my thirst will always be a comforting constant!  LOL. If you want to thirst or fangirl/boy together, I’m all ears.
Anyway, let’s start with the drama that was partially the inspiration for this list.
1. The Wolf
Brief Summary: Sweet hot boy raised in the wilderness/by wolves meets sweet beautiful girl and they fall in love.  Shitty evil people do shitty evil things to them to cause a misunderstanding and they are separated for years.  Sweet hot boy is given the “Sexy Bloody Tormented Killer Makeover” TM and turns into a VERY VERY BAD HOT Wolf Man after being tortured/brainwashed by an evil asshole king who “adopted” him.  Bad Hot Wolf Man reunites with sweet beautiful girl but because of third party machinations in the past, he thinks that she betrayed him so he is suuuuuuch an ass to her (while still maintaining hotness).  But even beneath the asshattery (and sexy jerky smirks), he can’t help his love for her and it’s just *chefs kiss*. The angst, the pining, the mutual sacrifice for each other, the torment of wanting to be together but not being able to be together because of external forces/circustances, oh I am getting in a tizzy just thinking about it.  I won’t reveal anymore so as not to spoil the drama, but just know the ending may destroy you.
Is she thirsty? Am I thirsty? AM I THIRSTY?  Oh honey, if you don’t know the answer to that, then you must either be new here or you haven’t been paying attention to any of my posts in the past few weeks.  Look, from the first moment the camera panned to Darren Wang’s very well-defined and tan chest and windswept hair, all semblance of shame and dignity I ever tried to feign on this tumblr was immediately thrown out the window.  The feelings that he inspired within me were purely primal.  My cavewoman ancestor from millennia ago stopped gathering food in the harsh wilderness for a brief second to transmigrate into my body and go “me want big strong man!”
I mean, below is literally our introduction to Wolf Boy.  Am I supposed to just witness this and not feel anything?  The director knew what he/she was doing.  Anybody who worked on the drama who says they didn’t intend to exploit Darren Wang’s assets is a BOLD FACED LIAR. And this isn’t even Wolf boy in his hottest form.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That would be this:
Tumblr media
Damn, your girl needs a moment here.  When Wolf Boy turns into Bad Hot Wolf Man, wheeeeewww.  The things that came out of my mouth and the thoughts that popped up into my head.
Examples of shameless fangirl drooling can be found here: https://tomorrowsdrama.tumblr.com/post/636986055498792960/dangermousie-this-should-be-illegal-i-mean Here: https://tomorrowsdrama.tumblr.com/post/637238885944033280/dangermousie-i-am-fucking-dead-the-end-this Here: https://tomorrowsdrama.tumblr.com/post/637793196830769152/dangermousie-wolfie-acquired-a-kid-omg Here: https://tomorrowsdrama.tumblr.com/post/635272988321775616/dangermousie-i-dont-know-about-you-guys-but and here: https://tomorrowsdrama.tumblr.com/post/637621638524977152/dangermousie-hnnnnnnnngh-i-am-beginning-to-forget
Honestly, just check out The Wolf tag on @dangermousie tumblr and you won’t be disappointed.  Prepare to become obsessed, horny, and heartbroken.
Would I watch it minus the thirst traps? Have you ever thirsted so much that you couldn’t separate what reaction was hormonal and what was objective?  Like the guy is so hot to you that when your friends ask you what do you like about him, the first 10 things you can think of are “he’s hot!” and then you try to remind yourself that you’re not a shallow person who actually cares about things other than looks but at the same time you can’t for the life of you think of a non-hot based trait that you like about the guy  Yeah, that’s what happened here so sorry, I can’t give you an objective opinion.  It’s not that there’s nothing objectively good about The Wolf, it’s just that my judgment is too clouded by Darren Wang’s abs and big hands.  But from what I can tell by other people’s posts, even if you didn’t thirst for Darren Wang (Are you made of stone?  But also, can you please teach me your magic so I can go back to being a semi-functional working woman?), The Wolf is still a very enjoyable drama with its own non-Darren Wang related merits.
2. My Beautiful Bride
Brief Summary: A drama about a strait-laced banker who wears a dorky backpack and rides a bicycle everywhere while wearing the dorkiest looking helmet ever and his beautiful bride-to-be whom he is hopelessly devoted to.  This being a kdrama, and an OCN drama at that, things aren’t all what they appear to be.  Yes, you read that right, an OCN. ROMANCE. DRAMA.  Turns out the beautiful bride-to-be has a dangerous past that soon comes back to haunt her and she mysteriously disappears one day from strait-laced banker’s life in the typical kdrama way to protect him.  Part of the reason she leaves him is also because she doesn’t want him to know about her past because she doesn’t think she’s good enough for him.  Little does she know, he knows everything about her past and accepts it all.  The only reason why he doesn’t bring it up is because he knows she doesn’t want him to know about that part of herself and he loves her so much he’s willing to do anything to make her happy.  But also, another thing she doesn’t know is that underneath that boring but perfectly ironed suit, is a finely chiseled, super efficient fighting machine who did his mandatory military service in the special forces.  He is like the terminator meets Liam Neeson’s character in Taken.  He has a very particular set of skills and will stop at nothing to get his bride back.
Is she thirsty?  Please just watch this video and you will have your answer: https://youtu.be/Ut9MhxWadHM
Prior to The Wolf, My Beautiful Bride was probably the most thirst-inducing drama I watched in 2020.
I mean, just look
Tumblr media
at this
Tumblr media
at all of this
Tumblr media
I don’t’ know how Joo Young saw that body and never questioned whether he really was just a banker.  The writers of the drama must be super heterosexual men who are blind because so many of the characters in the drama question why someone as beautiful as Joo Young would ever want to be with someone like the banker. Um..Um...aside from the fact that he is financially well off, treats her well, is loving and respectful of her, and prioritizes her over everything else, JUST LOOK AT HIM.  I was so thirsty for Kim Mu Yeol in this role that I would accidentally tag this drama as My Beautiful Banker sometimes.  The banker was on a relentless one-man mission to take back his bride and turn me on in the process and ooooooh boy was he successful on both fronts.  He is seriously sex on legs every time he beats up a baddie in his quest to find answers about Joo Young’s whereabouts.
Would I watch it minus the thirst traps?  I binged the first six episodes of this drama in one afternoon partly because of my thirst, but also partly because it’s a very well made crime-action-gangster drama.  This is an OCN drama so you can expect a competently made production with well choreographed/bloody action scenes and a solid script.
3. Scarlet Heart Ryeo / Moon Lovers
Brief Summary: IU plays Hae Soo, a modern woman who is somehow transported back in time to the Goryeo period.  There, she gets entangled with a group of royal princes.  Her two main love interests are Wang So (played by Lee Jun Ki) and Wang Wook (played by Kang Ha Neul).  The princes vie for the throne and some of them for Hae Soo’s affection.  Lee Jun Ki does what he does best, which is play a sexy tortured deadly man who looks way too good with blood splattered on his face.  Kang Ha Neul is the seemingly kind prince/daddy long legs character who turns out to be not so kind or daddy long leggy.  Hae Soo is...well IU did the best she could with what she was given (which was a hot inconsistent mess).
Is she thirsty? Scarlet Heart Ryeo is like the honeypot of thirst traps.  It’s essentially a reverse harem set up with a prince for everyone.
Like them young and cute?  Then try the 10th prince, Wang Eun.
Tumblr media
Want them big, tall, and kinda dumb?  Here’s the 14th prince Wang Jung for ya.
Tumblr media
Want an evil bastard with an affinity for guyliner?  Try out 3rd prince Wang Yo.
Tumblr media
Tall, slender, and scholarly? 13th prince Baek-ah will fill your needs.
Tumblr media
Is a kind/gentle man who will ultimately disappoint you because he doesn’t show up when you need him most more your speed?  Well, let me introduce you to 8th prince, Wang Wook.
Tumblr media
Kinda scary but oh so hot and with a ton of baggage?  We’re talking, I overpacked and brought 10 overstuffed large suitcases levels of baggage. 4th prince Wang So is the guy for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if you prefer someone with no personality, presence, or memorable traits, I got a two-for-one deal for you in the crown prince Wang Mu and 9th prince Wang Won.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Would I watch it minus the thirst traps?  There is political intrigue, scheming, romance, fluffy hijinks (my least favorite parts of the drama), angst, beautiful costumes, and pretty decent fight scenes.  Scarlet Heart Ryeo is a pretty solid fusion/fantasy sageuk mostly thanks to Lee Jun Ki.  The only person who has ever carried a larger load on his back is Atlas.  I’m not saying all the other actors are horrendous. It’s just very clear that the one elevating the material beyond the inconsistencies/messiness/elementary politics of the script is Lee Jun Ki.  Your enjoyment level of the drama will likely increase if you are a fan of any of the main actors.

Skating Skills - What Are They?
To be a figure skating fan you really don’t have to understand things like skating skills or jump technique. They’re just bonus information available for your comprehension if you wish to dive deeper into the sport. However, because some misinformation seems to be spreading around about who has good skating skills and who has bad skating skills, I felt it necessary to give an overview of what qualities make up a skater with good skating skills.
You may have heard about a few notable singles skaters with great skating skills - Yuzuru Hanyu, Patrick Chan, Carolina Kostner, Alena Kostornaia, Rika Kihira, Marin Honda, Satoko Miyahara etc. - but what makes them good in comparison to the rest of the field?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(spoiler: just look how both these skaters gain speed while doing insanely difficult steps into their triple axels!)
Speed and Flow - look at how fast these skaters move on the ice. The best comparison would be to find fan videos shot from the stands. These videos can really capture the sheer speed skaters possess as they move across the ice. But fast speed is not synonymous with good skating skills. Example 1: Alexandra Trusova, who actually possesses good speed across the ice (not so much in step sequences). However, one really cannot say she has good skating skills. Speed is often paired with flow - aka how easily do they create speed? How easily do they maintain it? Do their movements look easy or labored and machine-like? An easy indicator of this is crossovers. Does the skater take several crossovers to get across the ice or just one or two? Positions in crossovers can also be an indicator of the quality of skating skills. Look at Sasha or Anna Shcherbakova’s way of building speed in crossovers and say, Alyona Kostornaia or Satoko Miyahara’s.
Quality of Edges - speed and flow are easy to tell, whether from fan videos or even in official videos. Watch Japanese Nationals and then Russian Nationals and you’ll be able to tell the overall level of speed and flow is on a different level. But again, those are not the only two ingredients necessary. Edge quality concerns how deep the skater’s edges are while doing anything, but especially turns and steps. The quality of a skaters edges are easiest to spot in step sequences, where skaters have to do several difficult steps and turns. Watch for how deep their edges are. In addition, watch closely when skaters attempt difficult turns such as counter or rocker. Do they “hop” their turn (aka their entire blade comes off the ice when the skater is changing directions)?
One-Foot Skating - one should not only consider the amount of one-foot skating but the quality of the one-foot skating. Often skaters will have clusters of one-foot skating combining various difficult turns in their step sequence. That is an indicator, but the amount of one foot skating across the entire program, including as transitions, is important to consider as well. Do skaters lose their speed through their difficult steps and turns or do they manage to actually gain speed?
Multi-Directional Skating - can the skater do difficult turns and steps in both directions? Is the quality of skating in both directions the same? In step sequences, skaters are required to do difficult turns and steps in both directions, so one can check if the skater has equally deep edges or speed while skating counterclockwise and clockwise.
Varied Use of Power/Speed/Acceleration - another indicator for skating skills is whether or not and how well a skater is able to vary their speed across a program. Can they speed up when the music allows for it? Can they slow down when the music calls for it? On that note, can the skater match their steps to the rhythm of the music? This doesn’t just mean matching a musical accent, but rather matching the entire tone of the musical choice. This quality ties in with musicality and it isn’t entirely a skating skills checkpoint. But of course, if you don’t have good skating skills, it is difficult to decelerate or accelerate easily within a program to try to match the music.
Many people often look for skating skills in step sequences, which makes sense given many of the difficult turns and steps or clusters of one foot skating are reserved for step sequences. However, it’s important to consider the entirety of a program when analyzing skating skills. In step sequences, do not be distracted the skater’s expression and arm movements (those are obviously important too, but not in terms of skating skills), the importance lies in the edges and the speed. Just because Alena Kostornaia falls out of a twizzle doesn’t mean she automatically has weak skating skills, her crossovers are still effortless, she can still create speed with just a few pushes, and the quality of edges are still good. Of course, in that old FS (the Nocturnal Animals FS) the amount of one foot skating was rather lacking.
And lastly - like all of figure skating - skating skills is subjective. Whether or not someone has good skating skills is subjective because “good” means different things to everyone. If your level of “good” is say Patrick Chan, very few skaters will even be able to touch the mark of “acceptable”. So thus, whether or not say Alyona deserves 9s in SS is also subjective, to an extent. Obviously no judge or fan should be using Patrick or Yuzu as the standard for a 8. Similarly, Alyona shouldn’t be getting 10s in SS, but also definitely not 8s. I think that range is reasonable, it’s only what multiple of 0.25 that might incite more arguments. With her best programs (Adios Nonino, The Departure namely) she’d be getting 9.00-9.25 in my book. Now obviously, in a perfect world, skating skills could be more objective - speed could be measured, crossovers in a program can be measured, the angles of edges and cleanliness of turns can be measured. But that would take a lot of work, a lot of waiting time, and the development of a whole new system. So, for now, it seems unlikely any big development of that level will happen.

Superpowers I Like
An ongoing list of superpowers i like. most from superpower wiki, the stuff in () are my thoughts, the rest from the website’s linked. sometimes powerlisting changes the names so if the link doesnt work let me know ad i’ll update.
Let me know if you use any and tag me in the fics you write!
Geometric Physiology
Transform yourself or objects into any shape
Universal Irreversibility
Ability to render an action impossible to be stopped, blocked, manipulated, and reversed
Talpidae Physiology
can mimic/transform into talpids, including the moles, shrew moles, desmans, and other intermediate forms of small insectivorous mammals.
Earth Weaponry
can create or wield weaponry with power over earth, which grants the user a wide variety of earth-based abilities
Transcendent Demonic Mage Physiology
The power to use the abilities of demon of godly arcane powers.
Tooth Fairy Physiology
Can transform into and perform acts the tooth fairy does. (Rip out the teeth of your enemies. control every tooth in the room. could also be strengthened to control bone? maybe?)
Psychic Food Manipulation
The ability to manipulate psychic food/edible substances. (technically, animals are edible, people technically.. like this has so much room for creativity)
Contact Force Defiance
can ignore contact forces, forces that require contact with something, like a surface of the ground or an object. They can defy contact forces and not need to make contact with the surface, or interact with objects from a distance without touching them. Like magnets that don’t want to touch.
Life Connection
User is connected to any/all life and living things, so that as long as they exists life does as well. This allows them to have both an emotional and spiritual link to every form of life, so if the target feels pain or is injured all living things would feel the same pain and/or possibly gain the same wounds as the user. If the user ever dies or is killed then life itself may cease to exist as well. Reader needs a bodyguard??
Fine Interaction
The user can interact with anything that that is microscopic, no matter how small it may be, allowing the user to interact with them as if they were objects or surfaces, possibly even causing macroscopic effects if skilled. This can include viruses, diseases, microbes, atoms, molecules, particles, superstrings, etc. reader is a heart surgeon.
Snake Den
The user can project numerous snakes from their body to eject poison into the target, project snakes as projectiles to attack or otherwise send them to the target.
Chi Manipulation
The user can create, shape, and manipulate chi. By learning to harness this inner latent energy, they can gain superhuman capabilities and use them in cases of extreme combat. Some examples include physically manifesting all of their inner strength and unleashing it through sheer force of will
Dimensional Storage
The user can put items/beings into a separate dimension for safekeeping and can summon them back with relative ease.(I really like this one)
Liquid Transmutation
User can transform any/all liquids, whether organic or inorganic, into any other fluid/liquid and change a liquids inherent properties such as turning water into acid or even make something like soda poisonous. Any liquids transformed by this power would have all the properties of the liquid they become.
Replication
User can instantly and perfectly replicate themselves and/or targets which can be objects or living beings, numerous times, while usually being able to recombine the clones. Most users have both of these abilities (if subconsciously), copying their clothes/equipment along with their body. Original target will normally be able to maintain control over all copies.
Reactive Adaptation
Users can either instantly develop powers or abilities to deal with threats or their bodies dynamically learn from experience. Depending on the user's control of the power or genetic structure, the reactive effects can be permanent or temporary.
Self-Sustenance
Users physical needs are greatly reduced or completely removed. These needs include air/breathing, sleep/rest, food, drink, bodily evacuations, shelter from environmental effects and their lack (heat/cold, dryness/wetness), etc. The user is also able to stay immobile without the normal effects this would have.
Technology Manipulation
User can create, shape, and manipulate technology and technological constructs, computers, robots, hardware, and other devices that can be termed as "technology." Manifested as a special form of electrical/telekinetic manipulation, a special form of "morphing" which allows physical interaction with machines, or even a psychic ability that allows mental interface with computer data.
User can control the flow of intricate machinery, and assemble or disengage their programming at will and operate most technology at distance. A variation of Electricity Manipulation, they control specific electrons and instructs them which items to engage or disengage and may be able to use the electric impulses to gently control smaller metal parts
Matter Ingestion
The user can eat any substance without harmful effects, regardless of what they consume. They can consume matter in any form - solid, liquid or gas.
(maybe what they eat gives them energy, maybe like how Natsu can eat flames?)
Persuasion
can compel people by speaking, the victims are unable to disobey; the seemingly cogent commandment is far too compelling. At a high level, users can persuade people into hurting/killing themselves or even flip around sense of logic, but can never cause victims to achieve what they are not capable of.
(maybe user has to work up and strengthen it to be able to persuade peoples to do bigger things)
Anatomical Liberation
User can split their own body apart into pieces and control the said pieces however they wish, by levitating them away from the user's main body and using them as they were connected to the user.
User is immune to cutting and being slashed because they can just pull their bodies back together again. They can also remove their own organs without dying and will neither bleed to death nor die if their brain or heart is removed.
Omnilingualism.
User can speak, write, understand and communicate in any language, including computer codes, languages they have never been heard before, sign language (even lip-reading), illegible words, and backwards speech and writing with little or no training. The user may even communicate with non-human animals or read body language.
Item duplication
user is able to mimic and replicate the objects of others around oneself, and be able to use those objects as one's own.
Darkness Manipulation
User can create, shape and manipulate darkness and shadows. By itself, darkness is mostly used to cloud everything into total darkness, but by accessing a dimension of dark energy it can be channeled to a variety of effects, both as an absence of light and a solid substance: one can also control and manipulate the beings that exist there, create and dispel shields and areas of total darkness, create constructs and weapons, teleport one's self through massive distances via shadows, etc.
Density Manipulation
User can manipulate density, which is defined as mass per unit of volume. This allows them to alter solidity, change the size of substances, create or destroy matter/mass in a volume, change inertial resistance (mass), make things intangible, either strengthen or weaken gravity, concentrate or expand matter, or create pressure differences in a fluid (gas, liquid, plasma) to induce a current and possibly use it to move solids.
Some users might even be able to control electrical charge density, which is the amount of electric charge per unit volume. This would, in turn, enable them to manipulate electromagnetic fields. Control over population density might also be possible for some users as well.
Luck
The user is gifted with an automatic and continuous supply of good luck, most have no control over this power as things considered "lucky" randomly and unexpectedly happens to them despite any predestined fate or logical reason. Ergo, nothing bad will happen or if it does, their power will sort it out no matter how impossible the situation is or how high the odds are against them, allowing the user to always be in complete context in whatever situation they are, be free to do as they please without consequences, and be untouched and ineffective to the laws of causality.
All aspects of user's life improve drastically: work, social, romantic, personal, financial, school, and basically life as a whole would become easier, happier, and would excel altogether.
Paralysis Inducement
Users can immobilize the target completely or partially, causing them to be left without movement and sensation. Making motor functions and muscle movement unavailable, the victim may freeze on the spot or crumple to the ground.
Pain Infliction
Pain Infliction is the ability to inflict horrible pain on others with the mind. It is triggered by pointing one's hand at a target, who will be overwhelmed with pain. The pain is described as a thousand tiny blades stabbing the brain. The pain will instantly vanish once the user loses concentration.
Prehensile Muscles
User can make their muscles stretch/extend and hold/manipulate objects like an extra limb. (could be like tendrils)
Liquid Mimicry
user can morph their body into a liquid state, is made up of or can transform their body completely into liquid substances. A user's transformed form is anatomically identical to their normal form, aside of being made of liquid, in which case it contains all to organs and is somewhat vulnerable to attacks. Alternately the user can transform into homogeneous matter, without any part of their form being more important than the other.
Animal Morphing
User with this ability either is or can transform into animals, whether partially or completely, as well as use the abilities, traits and appearance/physiology of animals by rearranging their own DNA structure. They are able to transform into animals that exist, alien animals and/or animals that are extinct, such as Dinosaurs.
User may have this ability from an empty genetic code, allowing them to accept any form from which they have a DNA sample, others may be able to alter their form mentally and change just by seeing and mimicking animal features.
Life-Force Absorption
The user can absorb life-force/energy, vitality and health, while removing it from the source, into their body and use it in various ways, gaining some form of advantage, either by enhancing themselves, gaining the drained power, using it as power source etc., either temporarily or permanently.
Weapon Hands
User can transform parts of their body to form a weapon of their choice onto their hands and forearms, possibly their biceps, triceps, and shoulders.
Vision Manipulation
The user has complete control over the vision of oneself and others. They can enhance, reduce or remove them temporarily or permanently, protect them from being overwhelmed, cause the target to see things that aren't there or prevent them from seeing things that are, cause/remove sensory ailments, etc.
Tactile Teleportation
User can teleport objects and/or beings through physical contact, the user can transfer them to any location they desire as long their in physical contact with the object/being
Disease Manipulation
The user can create, manipulate, shape, transform, cause/heal, etc. all forms of diseases, including their severity, contagiousness, methods of spreading, etc. They can control the organisms that spread diseases, including germs, bacteria, virus, or other pathogens on a cellular level, including bacteriophages, microorganisms (microscopic organisms), retroviruses, cells that abnormally grow to make cancerous tumors and cysts, and pathogens that produce genetic mutations
Morality Manipulation
The user can manipulate morality, making people ethically good or immorally evil by psychically kindling the targets’ minds so that they succumb to the voice of truth or to the urge of sin. The victim may feel the calling of the Almighty or some other cosmic force of good or succumb to all inner sins. The effect may expire, but that may be years after the evocations.
Dream Manipulation
User can create, shape, enter and manipulate the dreams of oneself and others, including modifying, suppressing, fabricating, influencing, manifesting, sensing, and observing dreams as well as nightmares, daydreams, etc., possibly including past ones. They can produce and modify dreams, bestow nightmares or lucid dreaming, entrap people in REM, and promote spiritual/emotional healing within dreams.
In some cases, user's power extends to the real world, such as wounds inflicted on a sleeping victim, healed damage (mental or physical) affecting the physical form, and other wise blurring the line between waking and dream. They may be able to pull someone from the waking world into the dream world or brings people/things from the dream world into the waking world.

#wip wednesday
since the latest chapter of star trek au continues to elude me (i swear to GOD i’ve been working on it; it’s about 2/3 of the way done and should hopefully be posted in a few weeks), i figured i’d go ahead and post a snippet of one my next projects, a fic i very briefly mentioned in my end of the year wrap-up post: the jurassic world au.
this is an idea i’ve always wanted to work on as a) a HUGE fan of the jurassic park franchise and b) a person who spent years as a dog trainer who was both puzzled and horrified by the raptor training in that movie. while this will probably be The Most Niche Fic of all my Very Niche Fics, i’m super happy with it so far and hope other people will be, too.
currently this project is sitting at about 18k and i’d like to have it completed, edited, and posted within the next few months. until then, enjoy this preview!
Itachi has never been the kind of person that believes in fate. As a boy his father had drilled the importance of hard work into his head, and it had been a lesson Itachi had carried with him long after he realized the man’s guidance wasn’t actually worth all that much. It wasn’t luck or good fortune that had led to Itachi many successes in life. Truthfully, fate had always seemed like a childish concept to him, an excuse for people to hang their hats on when things went wrong in their lives and they weren’t willing to take responsibility for their own actions.
That said, it’s hard for Itachi not to feel some sort of cosmic influence is manipulating his course in life when one day Uchiha Fugaku summons his eldest son into his office at the heart of Isla Nublar. Given his position as the puppetmaster of InGen, it isn’t often that his father actually finds himself on the humid and sandy shores of Jurassic World. But every time he does Itachi feels a familiar, childish pull of anxiety, a little voice in his head that drives himself to push himself to succeed, to please. It’s as if the last four years Itachi has spent almost single-handedly managing this glorified amusement park suddenly vanish in a puff as he meets his father’s judgemental black gaze.
“Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me,” Fugaku tells him, waving a hand to silently order Itachi to sit. And, as always, Itachi obeys his father’s commands.
“It’s no trouble, Father,” Itachi assures him as he settles into the immaculate white leather chair that no doubt costs half of his yearly salary. “Was there something you needed?”
“Yes and no,” Fugaku replies, which is fittingly ominous for the man. “I wanted to discuss a recent change that Hiruzen is implementing to the park.”
It takes an extraordinary amount of restraint on Itachi’s part to keep his comments regarding the CEO of Jurassic World and the sheer effort he spends weekly cleaning up the man’s air-headed messes to himself. For all the years he’s lived on the island--first as a boy while his father built his career, then as an intern after college, and finally as yet another cog in the Jurassic World machine--he’s regarded Sarutobi Hiruzen with an almost bleak sort of awe. It was shocking to Itachi that a man would possess such power and wealth, yet seem almost clueless when it came to maintaining that empire. Then again, he thinks dryly, perhaps all rich and influential men were nothing more than fools in the end.
Unaware of Itachi’s thoughts on the matter, Fugaku continues, “As I’m sure you’re aware, the board has been planning for sometime now to come up with a new attraction to boost both ticket and merchandise sales.” Of course Itachi is aware of it; it had been his idea in the first place. But, like most of his suggestions regarding Jurassic World, it had been thoroughly steamrolled until a man with more money and respect to his name could repackage it as his own brilliant, brand new invention. Which, as it were, is exactly what Hiruzen is planning to do. “The project has been in the works for a while now, but it’s going to be quite controversial. We thought it best to keep it under wraps until we were certain it was viable.”
“I take it you’re certain now?” Itachi asks, and Fugaku nods.
“We’ve had great success with the assets we’ve created so far, but as long as this park has been in construction there’s been one species that we’ve been unable to successfully replicate. Unfortunately, it’s also the one species that every dim-witted tourist that sets foot on this island is looking for.”
A chill works its way down Itachi’s spine as he guesses, “Velociraptors.”
It’s an idea that’s almost too macabre to even contemplate, let alone execute. For better or worse, the general public’s more than aware of the chaos and bloodshed that led to the destruction of the first park. It’s a shroud that lingers over Itachi’s everyday life, as no matter how hard he tries to maintain order and prioritize safety there will always be someone who looks at him as if he’s a capricious madman.
Because of Jurassic Park’s spectacular failure, the image of the velociraptor--a brilliant and ruthless predator stalking the shadows, picking men off one by one--has captivated the average person’s interest in a way that no other species has. So, ever since that original park, Jurassic World has been chasing the holy grail of a fully operational, successful, and controlled raptor exhibit--and, considering the way his father is currently speaking, Itachi’s sure the board has finally captured that elusive golden ticket.
“You’re correct,” Fugaku says, though at this point the admission isn’t necessary, and with careful muscular control Itachi holds back a frown. Perhaps this is the reason why no one decided to share this information with him despite the fact he’s the Operations Manager for this entire establishment; given the way he’s previously spoken about subjects such as animal welfare and reducing employee hazards, perhaps they sensed he wouldn’t exactly be on board with the wild idea of releasing one of the world’s most dangerous beasts onto the Earth again.
Either way, regardless of his own personal feelings on the decision, Itachi intends to oversee it with the same attention to detail he brings to any other project. “It’s a risky move, but it could prove to be quite lucrative if executed properly,” he eventually replies, evenly as he’s able. “I know in prior years other raptors were bred, but they were culled because they proved to be more trouble than they were worth. What’s changed since then?”
“According to our geneticists, the sequences on the upcoming crop will give them a reduced level of aggression and increased agreeability, though to be honest I’m not convinced that isn’t just smoke and mirrors.” Bleakly, Itachi’s inclined to agree; there was a world of difference between breeding a dog for temperament and trying to strip millions of years of prey drive from a wild--and previously extinct--animal. “Given that I’m not completely sold on their claims, it’s more a question of who has changed than what.”
As if on cue, a knock arrives at his father’s door, and in seconds the visitor’s face appears in the frame. “Hope I’m not interrupting anything,” the man says--at least, that’s what Itachi thinks the man says, because the sight of him alone causes Itachi’s brain to spontaneously stop functioning.
“Not at all,” Fugaku responds, completely unaware of his son’s inner turmoil. “As a matter of fact we were just discussing your contract with us.”
“Must have been why my ears were burning,” the man replies, his smile broadening into a full-on grin the moment he catches sight of Itachi positively dying in front of his father’s desk.
If there was a god in this world, He would open a hole in Fugaku’s freshly steam-cleaned carpet and let Itachi fall to his demise. But clearly there isn’t, as instead of time ceasing entirely it drags on and leads to Fugaku announcing, “Itachi, this is Uchiha Shisui. He’s an expert in the growing field of paleo-behavioral studies, which makes him the ideal candidate for rearing the velociraptors and readying them for the public.”
“We’ve met,” Itachi all but chokes out, clearing his throat to expel the sudden lump that’s formed in it. From the other side of the room he can see Shisui fighting a laugh, and in that moment he wishes Shisui would fall in a hole and die, too.
“Really?” his father asks curiously. “I didn’t know you two were acquainted. How do you know each other?”
While his positions at Jurassic World and in life have allowed Itachi to conquer a variety of challenges, there’s not a single skill or experience that has prepared him for this moment. Because Itachi has no idea how to explain to his father that the reason he knows this man is that he slept with him four years ago and never returned a single one of his calls or texts.
“It’s a long story.”

Super long Sasori post
I’m going to begin this by saying everyone is entitled to their view on Sasori and how to characterize him within the parameters set up by canon or whatever AU/Bent Timeline a person has inserted him into but I do believe there are certain things about him that remain the same no matter what situation you put him in-- otherwise he’s just no longer Sasori (IMO.) So much of his character is about hyper analyzing his words and actions, and what others have said about him through a microscope because the fact of the matter is for such an interesting character he really had such little time.
I was originally not going to bring shipping into this but as I was writing Sasosaku kinda slipped in there, mostly because it felt like it provided a good contrast to what we get of Sasori in canon and how it can translate into fanon.
(All of these opinions are based on the Manga and the Akatsuki formation because OP cannot be assed with novels and filler for the most part...Making an exception for Komushi.)
1. He’s highly manipulative. He’s a puppet master and he has a spy ring. He gathers information so he can use it against people, he manipulates the corpses of what used to be people--or things that LOOK, very often like people. That says a lot about who he is as a person.
And when you first see his real face, when he reveals himself to Chiyo this is the face you get;
Tumblr media
I don’t get the impression that he’s actually happy to see her given the events that follow, its largely about trying to put his grandmother off center and BOTHER her. Sasori is perfectly capable of acting to get to a desired result--which makes a lot of sense to me because while Bunraku is largely about the Narrator's words there is also the performance element to it via the puppets.
2. He’s all about control. Control of himself, of others, of events. It's really an offshoot of manipulation but I don’t think Sasori blinks without putting thought into the action. ( I mean technically, lmao given his unique anatomy in canon that might be 100% accurate.)
3. He’s not only an artist. The guy is the very definition of being a mad scientist. He sits at a place where Art and Science meet and become something more. It's not one or the other when it comes to Sasori, there is something almost Frankenstein like in the way that he creates his human puppets, the 3rd and himself. Think about the knowledge that had to go into that from basic human anatomy to the chakra system as a whole. I mean we never get a play by play on HOW he did it but we know he’s the only one who ever did and then repeated a similar, much more complicated process on himself.
Then there is his poison, we know he’s primarily relied on the infamous one because it was sooo effective (until it wasn’t, thanks Sakura.) But we have to assume given how he is Sasori makes ART out of deadly concoctions and methods of murder.
To him synthesizing that poison was probably no different than an artist trying to get that perfect shade of red.
The weird thing about Sasori ( and I guess it's just ONE of the many weird things) Is that for an Artist he is very...clinical. When we think about people in the arts we often imagine passionate people like Deidara--bombastic and flamboyant free spirits.
4. Logical and likely to the extreme.
He’s not a sore loser. When he loses and it's fair he accepts it. He's not bitter about the end of his fight with Sakura and Chiyo, he’s not pissy with Konan--he respects it because to Sasori the weak die and the strong survive, losers don’t have a right to complain when they shoulda got gud to begin with.
I don’t doubt that in Sasori’s logical mind he came to the conclusion that his parents died because they were weak. Ergo unlike Chiyo he’s just completely unaffected by seeing Kakashi, the world just followed its natural order in the death of his parents.
He’s got a reptile brain and he just sort of views people as animals because it's probably simpler--except for himself. He thinks he’s above that, to himself he is a god.
The thing with Komushi...I perceive it as largely an accident but in Sasori’s “perfectly” logical mind he was just like well: it’s sort of Komushi’s own fault and never let a tragedy go to waste because again, hyper logical. Not only that but he was BEGGED to do something for Komushi and there really was nothing to be done for him at that point other than make something useful out of his death.
The problem with being TOO logical is that it is just as detrimental as being too emotional. If we all just went around doing what was logical we’d be no different than animals or machines. Logic dictates we do whatever it takes to survive and come out on top even at the expense of others but because we are balanced by emotion most people don’t live like that.
On the flipside because he’s logical he can be convinced by compelling arguments without ego getting in the way. In this same vein he finds it very difficult to feel sorry about things he’s done in the past but when able to recognize it was wrong he can accept it and simply resolve not to do it in the future--he doesn’t have the capacity to agonize over feelings of guilt.
5. He hates being lied to and he’s impatient. Sasori will lie to everyone around him and even to himself if he can manage it but if he finds out He’s the one being lied to? Intense hate. See points 1&2.
6. He’s blunt and often rude when acting as his natural self. I don’t find the need to explain this one much.
7. Sasori is largely self-focused. He thinks he has a perfect handle on himself and understands exactly why he is the way he is--but it couldn’t be further from the truth. He really doesn’t understand his own feelings much less those of others and what he does understand he often doesn’t care about. This can be changed if a person is able to get through to him.
This is the guy who thought that by removing his concious from a human body and sticking it into what's basically a decorative vase all his problems would MAGICALLY vanish. Because as smart as he is, he was also desperate to escape his own feelings not realizing that when you pour the water in one glass into another glass the contents remain the same.
No matter how hard he tries he cannot escape the problem plaguing him; himself.
8. Sasori does not value life, not his own and certainly not others. Unless you are like that ONE person who is able to get through to him. He has what I would call a “Very narrow heart.”  which simply does not have a lot of space for people. To him it's probably Sasori and “That Person” VS the world.
9. He likes things that last, sculptures and paintings, classical music and literature, things that have been around for ages and withstood the trials of time.
10. He does not do well on his own. He thinks he does but he really doesn’t, when he is by himself he is destructive. When he feels alone he is at his most dangerous. Sasori is very much a person who NEEDS someone to essentially be his emotional center otherwise we get him turning himself into a puppet in what amounted to a one longass theatrical suicide.
11. Sasori was probably always a little...different even as a kid but environment and events certainly played a role. His parents died at an early age and he was essentially lied to and given false hope. (hence the impatience and hatred of lies.) Throw into that an intellect seldom seen in a time of war where child soldiers are the norm. He killed his first person at 8, he earned himself a title denoting that he was so good at killing he soaked the sands in blood. Imagine what that's like at 8, getting a pat on the head everytime you kill someone?
Of course you would become conditioned to believe that killing is right and good when you’re being congratulated and rewarded for being proficient at it.
Its assumption on my part but I do believe Sasori lays somewhere on the Antisocial Personality Disorder spectrum.
12. He’s vain AF. Look at him. He made sure to replicate himself in his prime to perfect detail in the places that were most visible, his face and his hands. He could have made himself look like anything but in the end he still chose that form.
13. When he wants something he makes a plan and gets it done. Doesn’t matter how long or what he has to do to get to point A to point B he’s going to do it.
14. He has three main expressions; blank, smug and insane.
15: His power levels are again, insane. He is a master of multiple trades. The guy ganked a Kage at 15 the strongest one Sand ever had by that point, ( Orochimaru was waay older and came out way more damaged as far as we know when he fought Sarutobi.) toppled a nation, made himself a new body with mysterious methods.
It's time for the Sasosaku bit:
Part of the reason why I think the two of them fit so well together is that they are opposites and yet complimentary. Sakura is an antidote and Sasori is the poison, but sometimes a medicine can become a poison and a poison can be used as medicine. Sakura is a close range combatant and Sasori is long but they have this odd intersection of skill sets and interest. They both deal in the human body and the manipulation of it, Sakura’s focus is to maintain it as it is and improve its condition if needed and Sasori’s is to both destroy and create it anew all at once.
If they weren’t trying to kill one another in canon they would have had tons to talk about.
Ultimately Sakura gets gut stabbed not because he was aiming for her but because she got LITERALLY in the way of a family feud. He was going for Chiyo and you can assume that's because he thought his grandma was the bigger threat or because he was still bitter about the past on some subconscious level and was gunning for her--i mean he goes in for Chiyo a second time after he disconnects from the arm Sakura was death gripping. But Sakura’s selfless action is something that viscerally shocks him:
Tumblr media
And it only gets worse when Chiyo starts feeding her life force into Sakura--a second selfless act on the part of someone he hates and feels wronged by.
Sakura values life and Sasori doesn’t because he doesn’t understand it. He was raised his whole life to think that people like them--Shinobi had no value other than to kill or to be killed. He’s visibly shocked when she starts yelling after socking him in the face about Human lives and family bonds. Like no one had ever mentioned that to him before and forget about risking your life to save someone else's, that goes against his logical lizard brain.
At that point he’s already beaten, he’s already impressed with her. It’s right after her punching him that Sasori gives what amounts to an odd marriage proposal IMO. It was completely pointless of him to even bring it up but you can tell by the “Glint” in his eye that he meant it.
Sasori: Want to become like me? You’ll get what I mean. An undecaying body, Unfettered by a mortal lifespan, capable of being rebuilt over and over again. ( if you were immortal would you offer immortality to someone you had no interest in? Not me. I wouldn’t want to have them around for virtually “forever” in any shape or form. And Sasori is not talking about making Sakura into just some controllable puppet, he’s talking about being JUST like him, sentient thought and movement.)
Sasori: I can make as many people as I want out of puppets….-Looks dead at Sakura- If I want them...but my collection isn’t just about quantity. Quality is important too.
That whole conversation is like A CREEPY FLIRTATION from him because we know what he considers “True beauty” to be. Eternal.
And then it comes to a head where he gives her a “sentimental reward” in the information she wanted. Now I’m not saying Sakura was interested or anything but it seems like he was in some shape or form.
In my opinion when you put someone like Sakura--who is brilliant and logical but also heavily swayed by her emotions with someone like Sasori, brilliant, logical and emotionally repressed. A person who values life with someone who neither values their own life or others what you get is agitation.
Agitation is not a bad thing, it breaks stagnation--which is what, imo drives Sasori to his death. It is the lack of change, he’s made it so he cannot feel physically and he has tried his hardest and for the most part succeeded in numbing his inner feelings.
Part of me is convinced that what ultimately kills him is complacency. He gets so used to being at the top that when he is confronted with someone who neutralizes his life’s work and destroys his collection and keeps confronting and beating him with all the qualities he deems useless and pointless it just drives home the point that everything he has ever done or thought was in vain and on some level wrong. There is no point in winning against them because everything is already destroyed. There is no going back to what he was before, therefore death is preferable.
Through Sakura, in Au’s or alt timelines, or w/e she is able to reach him through their similarities but change him due to the fundamental differences in their nature.
As to what Sakura gets from Sasori; Someone who clearly respects her skills and understands her interests because his own align--and therefore would be supportive and present. The two of them actually have things in common and therefore shit to talk about.
In that same vein Sasori seems like the type of person who if he were to fall in love it is to the point of obsession, for someone who was repressed and held themselves apart from others I see him in a lot of ways as almost touch, and certainly affection starved. It becomes addictive to him. (Which is probably why when I write him he’s handsy.)
We know how Sakura likes to take care of people--we see it with Naruto, Sasuke and Sai. In some of these cases it is often to the detriment of her own well being and Sasori, the selfish person that he is, can reign that in and pull it back so that it isn’t so all consuming. (mostly because the only person she should be worried about is herself and him.)
In the end, If Sasori is the logic and Sakura is the emotion, what you end up with is something more balanced. In the same way that if you were to mix a Poison with an Antidote you would end up with a neutralization.
These are just my personal opinions and thoughts on the matter.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also I headcanon that Sasori is basically Sakura-sexual so -cough- there. I guess that's a topic for another time...

In the video game movie subgenre, 2014's Street Fighter: Assassins' Fist is by far the best ever made. Video game movies are notoriously regarded with more disdain than appreciation among moviegoers and gamers alike, the latter in particular usually very reticent about getting their hopes up when one is on the way. Street Fighter itself has been right at the center of the poor reputation of video game movies with its first two cinematic outings, which makes Assassin's Fist that much more of a diamond in the rough.
Born out of the 2010 short film Street Fighter: Legacy, Assassin's Fist first debuted as a web series in May of 2014 before hitting home media as a complete movie. Written by Joey Ansah and Christian Howard and directed by Ansah, Assassin's Fist also saw Ansah portray the villainous Akuma, with Howard playing Ken Masters, and Mike Moh in the role of Ryu (replacing Jon Foo from Legacy). Assassin's Fist was subsequently followed up by the 2016 interquel Street Fighter: Resurrection, and despite grand plans for a Street Fighter: World Warrior series to fully bring the franchise to life, with Suicide Squad director David Ayer to helm the pilot and Ansah even having Scott Adkins as his first choice for Guile, a lack of studio movement led to the rights reverting to Capcom and World Warrior falling into limbo.

That's nothing short of a crying shame, given that Assassin's Fist set the stage for the planned story to grow and thrive in the complete opposite trajectory from where the reputation of video game movies currently sits. Ansah has also commented that a need to maintain creative control as showrunner on World Warrior is partly what led to a stall in movement in the series, and given how Assassin's Fist turned out in contrast to other video game movies, and past Street Fighter films in particular, he was anything but unjustified in standing his ground. Their poor reputation notwithstanding, video game movies aren't dying out, as last year's Sonic the Hedgehog, the reboot of Mortal Kombat, and the forthcoming Resident Evil reboot show. Yet despite the success of those films, Assassin's Fist stands apart for a number of reasons.
Tumblr media
Street Fighter may be one of the longest-running and most popular video game franchises ever created, but as a cinematic property, it was damaged goods at best before 2010. As one of the first major films based on a video game, 1994's Jean-Claude Van Damme-led Street Fighter was an absurd, campy romp, though it admittedly has amassed a sizeable fan base for those very qualities. Raul Julia's ridiculously unhinged portrayal of M. Bison is as quotable today as it was when audiences first heard him proclaim Blanka to be "A beast born of my own genius!" and even that's just scratching the surface of how much scenery Julia chewed playing the dictator. Street Fighter may have been a trainwreck in adapting its namesake, but no action movie whose villain proclaims "You come here prepared to fight a madman, and instead you found a god?" will want for entertainment value.
Fifteen years later, the Street Fighter brand took another black eye with 2009's Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, which had the opposite problem of being a dull, boring slog through chaotically edited fight scenes and a misguided attempt to use the dark-and-gritty approach on a property with such fantastical elements. No longer was M. Bison a Psycho Power-wielding, muscled up would-be dictator, but an Irish crime boss in a suit and tie played by Neal McDonough. Meanwhile, the titular Chun Li, played by Smallville's Kristin Kreuk, was a generic blank slate heroine who only donned her trademark ox horns and blue outfit from the games once in a fight scene that made poor use of the character's spinning bird-kick, in addition to a vast array of other problems. If nothing else, Street Fighter at least made a worldwide haul of just shy of $100 million, while The Legend of Chun Li only scraped together $12.8 million worldwide. With its first outing going down in history as The Room of video game movies and its second bombing on an epic scale, Street Fighter didn't seem to have strong prospects in movie form.
That perception changed overnight with the sudden arrival of the short film "Street Fighter: Legacy" in May 2010. In just three minutes, Legacy did what many believed to be impossible and delivered a genuinely great live-action take on Street Fighter, and the internet wasted no time in fervently asking when a feature-length expansion of the short was coming. Four years later, it finally arrived in the form of Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, which had become more appreciated as an epic video game web series prior to the film's release. When it came to its cinematic track record, Street Fighter had nowhere to go but up, but Assassin's Fist was simply a great movie all-around, and the embrace it received boils down to several crucial elements it brought to the table.
Tumblr media
Among the many problems that befell Street Fighter and The Legend of Chun Li was the effort both made to split the difference between bringing realism to their action scenes and still making use of the outlandish special moves from the games, with both failing in different ways. The special moves that made it into Street Fighter were more visual homages than the techniques themselves, with Ken's approximation of a Shoryuken and M. Bison's tech-based Psycho Crusher lacking the impact they had in the games. Legend of Chun Li brought more wire-fu into the mix while showing Chun Li developing her Kikoken under Gen's training, but the execution was consistently off, with Chun Li's Kikokens more resembling special effects thrown into a fight scene than a weapon of combat being unleashed.
When it came to Assassin's Fist, by the end of the movie, it'd be easy to believe that one could travel to Japan and actually train in Ansatsuken. Though Assassin's Fist had great action scenes, it was, first and foremost, a martial arts film, taking viewers in-depth into the fundamentals of Ansatsuken alongside Ken and Ryu and presenting the fictional martial art as matter-of-factly as actual kung fu or karate. More importantly, it made the superhuman side of their fighting skills seem realistic in a way that even many Street Fighter fans were stunned by.
Techniques like Shoryukens, Hadoukens, and Tatsumaki-sempukyakus were presented not as superpowers, but as legitimate fighting techniques based in chi (or qi). Though Street Fighter devotees were more familiar with this, it came across as more palpable since Assassin's Fist had presented the training in a fictional and highly ostentatious martial art with the same reverence as one would expect from, for example, the Kickboxer or Best of the Best movies. By the time of Ken and Ryu's climactic sparring match, in which they are permitted to wield the Hado-based techniques of Ansatsuken, viewers were invested in the time and effort the characters had poured into mastering the highest levels of their art. As impressive as it was for Assassin's Fist to portray a martial art like Ansatsuken as something that could be real, it also connected with viewers from another, equally deep angle.

Being born out of a gaming franchise with a much more abstract story structure than Mortal Kombat or Tekken, Assassin's Fist was a martial arts epic to the core and one about the tragedy of aggression and excessive ambition leading practitioners astray. Not unlike the light and dark sides of the Force in Star Wars and Anakin Skywalker's fall to the latter, Assassin's Fist centered on the divergent methods of Ansatsuken training: Mu No Hado and the more aggressive Satsui No Hado. At first selling Ken and Ryu on the former as the "purer" method of developing skill in Hado techniques, Akira Koieyama's Gouken swiftly begs Ken to avoid Satsui No Hado and to keep it hidden from Ryu. Gouken has good reason to fear his young students being seduced by the power of Satsui No Hado and its quicker path to generating Hado, seeing firsthand what it did to his brother Goki thirty years earlier.
Played by Gaku Space in flashbacks, Goki's embrace of Satsui No Hado transformed an already unstable rising martial artist with a violent streak into a soulless killing machine. In contrast to Ken and Ryu's exciting and upbeat training montages, Goki's training in the wilderness after his exile from Gotetsu's dojo is more akin to a demonic kind of viral infection. Lumbering out of his cavern home (and now played by Joey Ansah), Satsui No Hado makes Goki into one of the most formidable fighters on Earth, but at the cost of his humanity, transforming him into the murderous Akuma, whose only goal is to slay all who could challenge him as the world's true master of Ansatsuken. Though Togo Igawa's Gotetsu is defeated when Akuma returns, he dies with some happiness, knowing that he trained a student who succeeded in fully mastering the power of Satsui No Hado.
As Ken and Ryu progress in the Street Fighter movie and Ryu shows signs of being overcome by Satsui No Hado, Gouken's knows his brother's inevitable challenge will come soon, leading him to send his young students on their warrior's pilgrimage and prepare to fight his brother to the death at last to spare Ryu Akuma's deadly pursuit. Alongside Ken's longstanding issues with his father and Ryu's troubled inner spirit, Assassin's Fist's story was one of what it really means to become a warrior. To Gouken, the greatest opponent one can ever face is themselves, and to Akuma, being able to defeat all challengers is the be-all and end-all of Ansatsuken. Though he imparts his vast wisdom to Ken and Ryu, Gouken could not pull his brother back from the darkness. Assassin's Fist ends as their final confrontation is about to commence with Gouken all the while hoping that Ryu can fight off the demons that his brother could not.
Tumblr media
What finally sealed the deal on the success of Assassin's Fist was the fact that it was able to work on multiple levels for practically any demographic, and not just as one of the best fighting games. Gamers and Street Fighter fans had reason to cheer for a gaming franchise that had seemed all but impossible to do well in live-action hitting the bull's eye in Assassin's Fist. For general martial arts fans, Assassin's Fist also held worth in treating a fictional martial art with the same care as one would accord real-world fighting styles, emphasizing the training as the centerpiece of the story. Just as importantly, it connected with its audience on an emotional level, whether invested in it as a video game player, a martial arts practitioner, or simply a general viewer.
In two and a half hours, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist rescued the Street Fighter movie franchise with an excellent story and characters that resonated with viewers regardless of their experience or lack thereof with the games, and outstanding training and action sequences that felt real in a way that would've seemed impossible for a martial art involving fireballs and thirty-foot uppercuts. One can only hope that the Street Fighter: World Warrior series gets pulled off the shelf and greenlit. As a follow-up to the greatness of Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist with the same creative team involved, one can only imagine how much it would bring to the world of video game adaptations by the end of season 1.

The Magnus Archives & MBTI Part 1 -- Jon & Martin
Hello. When I was a depressed 19-year old, I hyperfixated on the Meyers-Briggs personality typing system in an effort to solve all of my interpersonal problems.(1) It didn’t work, but ever since then I have been cursed both with deep, useless knowledge and searing, useless opinions. In the hopes that sharing my terrible burden with others will allow me to one day find the rest I so desire, I would like to introduce you today to what is, as far as I can tell, the first dedicated MBTI typing post in this fandom.(2)
The hyperfixation ran deep, so I am trying to make this as intelligible as possible. If you so desire it, this is a great general resource for typing. If you have opinions or thoughts, PLEASE share them. Much like a fear avatar slurps up people’s trauma, I am sustained in part by healthy, albeit occasionally heated, debates over MBTI types. You should have seen the time I typed Kanye West on Reddit.(3)
Jonathan Sims -- INTP  Confidence Level: 90% Certainly (at the very least): IxTx
It is easy and tempting to type Jon Sims as an INTJ. After all, he certainly fits many of the stereotypes: bookish, awkward, out of touch with his feelings and his environment, with a tendency to come off as overly critical. I am not saying that this typing is necessarily wrong, but I do not think that it should be taken for granted.
Jon is clearly an introvert and a thinker (IxTx). It is tempting to type him as an intuitive as well, but I caution against this and suspect that it is an example of intuitive bias. Certainly I do not believe that he has the kinetic knowledge and energy of an ISTP – he hasn’t done a single damn thing in this entire podcast to make me think that he has any higher-level grasp of Extroverted Sensing (Se), the function an ISTP uses most confidently to interact with the outer world – but, if INTJ is in consideration, ISTJ should not be written off.
ISTJs and INTJs use the same auxiliary function, Extroverted Thinking (Te), to interact with their environments. Te is often characterized as being cold, clinical, unfeeling, and pragmatic: essentially, how Jon comes off in the early series, especially S1. The difference between them is their dominant function, or their primary way of existing and processing information. ISTJs are led by Introverted Sensing (Si), which is best conceived of as a “web” (haha) of past experiences and sensory details that a user can access when making decisions. INTJs are led by Introverted Intuition (Ni), which is a largely unconscious and abstract style of pattern-sensing which feeds a user insights about the world around them. For Jon, I think that fair arguments could be made either way for dom Si or dom Ni. Does Jon rely more on what has come before (ISTJ) or what may come next (INTJ) to guide his thinking? It could be either, in my opinion, and it is especially difficult to tell because the Beholding itself is an EXTREMELY Ni domain. As the series progresses, Jon’s choices and behavior are colored so thoroughly by his patron that it is difficult to separate evidence of natural Ni intuition from plain old Beholding intuition.
So, with this in mind, why have I typed him as an INTP of all things? It all comes down to the INTP’s inferior function, Extroverted Feeling (Fe). Your inferior function is the thing that you use but aren’t very good at – it tends to be what gets you into trouble. Fe is best understood as a natural awareness of other people’s emotions as well as the privileging of group values over individual values, so inferior Fe users tend to be sensitive to other people but not super great at actually interacting with them. It is tempting to type Jon as an IxTJ because he comes off like a high Te user at first, but it’s pretty well-established at this point that he’s projecting that persona due to his insecurities. This, in my opinion, is classic inferior Fe. He knows that there is a broader group expectation for his behavior in his new position, but he is (a) too out of his depth to project it naturally and (b) not savvy enough to find a middle ground so he overcompensates and comes off like an asshole. So many of his interpersonal problems stem from this same issue. He clearly cares deeply about group values, other people, and their opinions of him but he struggles to read social situations well and is then caustic as a defense mechanism.(4) So much of his emotional growth has been about him being softer and kinder, even as he grows more monstrous, and to trust others, especially Martin… that’s an inferior Fe narrative.
Once you’ve nailed INTP as his type because of the inferior Fe, I think that everything else falls into place. INTPs lead with Introverted Thinking (Ti), which is a logic-based, internal system of categorization, and they interact with the external world through Extroverted Intuition (Ne), which is a creative, abstract, “idea machine” approach to environmental analysis. In essence, INTPs are logical, systems thinkers (Ti) who basically try out new ideas by throwing them at the wall and seeing if they stick (Ne). I think that describes Jon far more accurately than the IxTJ approach, which tends to be far more reserved and calculated.
Martin Blackwood -- ISFJ Confidence Level: 70% Certainly (at the very least): IxFx
I have found Martin to be a particularly challenging character to type. After a great deal of thinking, and some helpful input from @twinliches, I have gone with ISFJ.
Martin is an introvert whose primary mode of interaction with the external world is through Extroverted Feeling (Fe). He cares primarily about the group and is sensitive to its dynamic, he has a good read on other people’s emotions, and he is able to easily maneuver through interpersonal situations to his own benefit and the benefit of those he cares about. But what is this Fe working conjunction with? As a prominent Fe user and an introvert, Martin’s only two options are to have dominant Introverted Sensing (Si), which would make him an ISFJ, or dominant Introverted Intuition (Ni), which would make him an INFJ. So, does Martin rely on a “web” (badumtssh) of past experiences to connect with others (Si), or is he using a more unconscious, forward-thinking intuition to do so (Ni)?
It is extremely tempting to type Martin as an INFJ, but, honestly, I think that do so is an example of intuitive bias. His actual choices – how he moves through the world and comes to conclusions, the way that he relates to others, the things that he fears – strike me far more as dominant Si than dominant Ni. Although he may not always broadcast it, Martin is shrewd and observant when it comes to interpersonal relations, and his grounded, real-world knowledge of how people are acting, how similar situations have played out in the past, and what details others are missing is what allows him to so consistently outmaneuver the big bads. A Ni user may come to similar conclusions, but they just don’t get there in the same way. Martin is also invested in maintaining social harmony by providing a sense of stability, which is a classic ISFJ move. INFJs are more likely to promote social harmony by using their Ni insights and Fe people skills to actively influence group dynamics for what they believe is the better. Martin doesn’t really ever do that – instead, he works to make sure that everyone is taken care of, whether that means bringing them tea, dragging them out to lunch or for drinks, or sacrificing himself to the Lonely so Peter leaves Jon alone.
I anticipate that one potential criticism of my Martin typing will be in regard to the inferior function. ISFJs and INFJs have different inferior functions: ISFJs have inferior Extroverted Intuition (Ne), which means they can struggle with open-endedness and have a tendency to catastrophize, and INFJs have inferior Extroverted Sensing (Se), which means they struggle with being in touch with their physical environment and can overindulge in sensory activities. People with inferior Se often have difficult relationships with their physical forms, and Martin’s canon and fanon body image issues certainly fit the bill. But inferior Se users are not the only ones who struggle with their bodies, and, overall, I don’t think the INFJ’s broader function stacking fits Martin as well as ISFJ does. Plus, I think there is just as much, if not more, evidence for manifestations of inferior Ne from Martin.
To wrap it all up, here is my final Martin take: Martin is an ISFJ who, if he knows anything about the MBTI, thinks that he is an INFJ. He was probably accurately typed on whatever popular test he took, but he read some anti-Sensor bullshit that included a hackneyed portrayal of Si, thought “I’m not boring and conservative… I can’t actually be an ISFJ! I must be an INFJ.” For a time, he even has “INFJ” in his Twitter bio. Sometimes he wonders if he’s mistyped because he doesn’t totally relate to the stray descriptions of Ni-Se that he comes across… but he figures that, if he is, he’s probably actually an INFP. He really likes their whole aesthetic… artsy, sensitive, caring, intuitive, and his favorite poets are INFPs. What he’s really vibing with here is their Si-Ne, which he can relate to… because as an ISFJ, he also uses those same functions! If post-series Martin is alive (and living happily with his husband, Jonathan Blackwood-Sims, of course), I bet that his increased self-knowledge and confidence will allow him to solidly write “ISFJ” in that online bio. I want that for him. And for all of you ISFJs out there, too!
On a personal note, I also really love ISFJ Martin/INTP Jon in the context of the ship. ISFJs and INTPs use the same functions, just in a different order! They can connect by sharing their Ti and Si thoughts and insights. Jon can help Martin develop his Ne, and Martin can (and already has!!) help Jon develop his poor inferior Fe by giving him an example of a much stronger, far healthier one. It is just *chef’s kiss*
Up next: Jonahlias, Peter, and Gertrude!
--
(1) The actual answer to my interpersonal problems was therapy and life experience. Who knew!
(2) If I’m wrong, let me know. We all know how useless the Tumblr search function is, and I also couldn’t find anything indexed on Google besides the Personality Database.
(3) Kanye West is an ESTP, btw.
(4) I’m not saying that Fi users don’t do this, but I think you tend to see more & genuinely meant “I don’t give a fuck” from them because they’re operating a little more on their own wavelength. I’m not sure if Jon knows himself as well as a Fi user, even an inferior Fi user, does.
