#and i dont think they would do all That with nancy boy for just no reason? it doesnt make sense from a writers pov
the nancy boy thing is just so fucking insane because like. they broke from the spelling of this name to do it but also incorporated it into the spelling of his name with n for nancy (possibly showing how he associates it with himself). but the license plate could have been any letter and that letter could have been any word and they chose b for boy. they could have cut to the license plate from any letter in dennis and they chose n for nancy. and we already know the way dennis spells out his name/words in this scene is very important metaphorically they showed us with that alternate D.E.N.N.I.S. system he gives us so.....they did that on purpose and drew attention to it

Steve knows he falls in love too easily. Nancy told him, Robin too.
But falling in love with Eddie Munson is hard.
They're supposed to be friends after Vecna. They're supposed to be friends, but Steve can't get past what Eddie did in the Upside Down; how he put himself in a position to nearly die, how Dustin got hurt. It's not fair. He knows it's not, but it doesn't make the anger go away.
Eddie's part of the group now, though, and Steve won't leave him out, no matter how angry. They're all at movie nights, at pool parties, at Hellfire, at Corroded Coffin gigs. It's just that Steve and Eddie don't speak. And Steve is okay with it. If it's what it takes to make sure that they're all hanging out together, not talking to Eddie is a small thing. He's pretty sure Eddie doesn't mind. At least, he seems as uninterested in hanging out with Steve as Steve is with him.
It doesn't need to be anything more than that, and it isn't, not until Steve goes upstairs to get more sunscreen during one of the pool parties, and walks back downstairs to find Munson waiting for him in his kitchen.
"You need something?" He asks, unable to fully hide the way he jolts with surprise.
Eddie twists the rings on his fingers, something Steve's noticed he does whenever he's nervous. "You have a problem with me, Harrington?
"No, of course not," he answers too fast.
"C'mon, man. You can barely stand to be in the same room with me."
"That's not true! We're in one together right now."
Eddie rolls his eyes so hard that it has to hurt. "Don't do that. Don't pretend like you don't know what I mean. You can't stand to be alone with me for more than thirty seconds."
Steve splutters, searching for a plausible reason.
"Is it cause--" Eddie swallows, hand going back to cup his neck. "Is it cause you heard me tell Robin that I'm gay? Back at the hospital. Is it because--" he cuts himself off.
Something in Steve's chest clenches hard, warmth swooping dangerously in his stomach. "No," Steve says, means it. "I didn't hear. I didn't-- it has nothing to do with that. It's--that's cool. Thanks for--yeah, that's cool."
Eddie's smile is a brittle little thing. "Then, what else?" Eddie pulls a chunk of hair over his mouth. "I can't think of any other reason you'd hate me so much."
"I don't." And Steve hopes it's coming off as genuine. "I promise."
He can't help remember the camaraderie, the understanding, that started to grow between them in the Upside Down. The "don't cha, big boy?" of it all. They could be friends. They should be.
They shouldn't get into it. Not right here, not right now when the kids' splashes and excited screams filter through the sliding door.
"You're a shit liar, Harrington."
"Ed--I'm not--"
"You know what? Don't bother. I'll just--" He jolts in the direction of the front door.
"Don't be stupid, Munson."
"God, I can't believe I didn't see it before. You just fucking loathe me."
"I do not. Grow up."
"Oh, yeah? Then what's your problem?"
"There isn't--"
"Stop lying!"
"You didn't fucking think!" He shouts. Loud enough that the noise outside cuts off. "You pulled that shit in the Upside Down and you almost died! Dustin got hurt!"
Eddie blinks his big brown eyes in stunned surprise.
"I told you, I said, 'dont try to be cute or be a hero or something.' And you know what you said? Do you?"
Eddie won't look at him now. "I had to make a choice, Steve."
"It was the wrong one!"
"I would do it all again. No matter what you say. I would do it to draw the bats away. To protect Dustin."
"But you didn't."
"There was no other way to stop them, Steve! They would've gotten through, into Hawkins."
"It doesn't matter."
"You weren't there! You can't tell me--"
"Yes, I can! I know."
"You don't! You think--"
"I almost lost you!" He screams. "You nearly died in my arms, Eddie. And for what?"
Falling in love with Eddie wasn't easy. It was blood and near death; it was weeks in a cold hospital room while Eddie existed in a drug-induced twilight state; it was agonizing convalescence and physical therapy and changing bandages; it was Eddie leading dnd sessions with bright eyes and contagious enthusiasm, herding the kids to the arcade and video store, theatrically serving snacks at movie night; it was festering, senseless anger at the near loss of something.
Eddie's lips tremble. "Steve, I--"
"It doesn't matter." He turns away to slide a hand down his face in an effort to wipe away the emotion. "You're fine and we're--it doesn't matter."
"I'm sorry," he whispers. "Steve, I'm sorry. I wanted--I thought it would help. I thought--"
And Steve has to admit, he does, the whole terrible contradiction of it all. "I know," he whispers back. "I would've--I know."
"I thought I was protecting Dustin. I thought I was buying you guys time with Vecna." Eddie's voice breaks. "I didn't--I--" He squeezes his eyes shut.
In the quiet of the kitchen, they gravitate to one another, foreheads resting together.
"I should have been there, Ed. I shouldn't have left you two alone. You almost died, and I--"
"Sweetheart, I'm right here. We're right here."
They don't kiss, but they're close enough that their mouths brush with each breath they take.
"Don't do that, again." Steve clenches his fists into Eddie's cutoff t-shirt. "Promise you won't ever--"
"I promise, Stevie. I promise. I'll be by your side until the very end, whatever it is."

HEAT OF THE MOMENT
The king of Hawkins high, Steve Harrington asks you out on a date but not for the reason you think. After that night, you learn who the real Steve Harrington is.. or so you thought.
paring: Steve Harrington x Fem!Reader
CW: ANGST ANGST ANGST, i guess bully!steve?, steve being a douchebag, king steve taking effect, swearing obviously, mentions of wounds/blood not to major.
A/N: i wrote this one a whim, got carried away it’s not the best but i need feedback to see what i should do next with it lol. i liked writing season 1 steve, i made him meaner than in the actual show but ofc i hope you all dont mind! enjoy and reblog! (not proof read and poor writing oops)
Tumblr media
Last night was the worst nights of your life, you got stood up by Steve Harrington. He'd asked you on a date during lunch and you obviously said yes. You and your friends were giggling and whispering about it all day, they gave you advice about what to do and say, what to wear, how to do your makeup, they seemed more excited than you. The moment you got home you got ready. He said he’d be there at 6 and it was already 3, so you had enough time to plan everything out. You put on your favorite record, pulled out your lucky socks, and got ready. The outfit you picked look like it came out of a magazine, so elegant and beautiful; Steve was definitely going to fall for you. At least that’s what you thought.
Sitting on the couch, you waited and waited and waited. 6 o’clock rolled around and the butterflies in your stomach would not stop.
6:13. He's just running a bit late.
6:28. Maybe he had car trouble?
6:41. Maybe he actually meant 7!
7:15. Or maybe he didn’t mean anything at all.
7:35. You were nothing to him.
Your parents didn’t get home from work until 8, so you decided to go up and change to save yourself the embarrassment of them asking about anything. Feeling like you came out of magazine just to feel like you were a thrown-out magazine because it’s the wrong issue. You went to sleep that night, crying over a stupid boy and a stupid date. It was stupid.
-
What felt like forever, you finally got to your locker. Fumbling with the lock, you got it to open and put your things away, grabbing stuff for your classes.  Laughter was heard a few lockers down, glancing over it was Steve and his idiot friends. You sighed and shut your locker. You didn’t want to confront Steve but you had the right too. Confidently, you walked over to them but that instantly left when Carol whispered something to Steve, making him snicker. Your stomach felt like it was twisting and winding, you felt sick.
“Hey, you!” Carol greeted; her words were sweet but was sour coming out of her mouth. You gave her a small wave and went to focus on Steve. He had on a blue polo, Calvin Klein jeans and a dark windbreaker complementing his outfit. His hair was perfect as always, he spent more time looking at himself than he did anyone else.
“Can I help you?” He asked.
“Um,” the words were stuck in your throat. His stare was burning you. Either you chicken out or you confront him.
“Where were you last night?” the words came out in almost a whisper.
“Huh? What was that?” he put his hand behind his ear, leaning down a bit to you. “What did you say?” Steve’s teasing was cruel, he has a smirk planted on his face waiting for you respond.
“I think our friend here asked about your date last night.” Tommy commented.
“Ah.” Steve moved his hand away from his ear and resting it in his jean pocket. “Listen, I was planning on going but I got wrapped up in somethings. I was going to call. Promise.” The sympathy in his voice was forced.
“Yeah, Steve was too busy studying anatomy with Nancy.” Tommy teased, making Carol slap him on the chest playfully. Steve smirked and looked at you.
“Tom, pay up man.”
What?
You tried to process what was going on. You watched Tommy give Steve a $20, shoving it in his pocket looking so proud of himself.
“Why did-”
“Oh gosh, for being a straight ‘A’ student, you really are stupid.” Carol said.
“W-what?”
“Tommy over here told me if I asked you out, I'd get the 20. I did and I got the 20.” Steves words felt like a knife to the heart.
“You put a bet on me?”
“Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!” Tommy exclaimed, making everyone laugh.
“You really believed that Steve would go out with you!” Carol snorted.
“I-”
“Listen, you seem like a great girl, I just don’t think you're up to the Steve Harrington standard. Nancy on the other hand, well she is. Don’t get me wrong, she just like you but more put together you get what I mean?” Steve’s words were harsh but said with ease.
You began to shake, you tried to hold the tears back forming in your eyes letting one fall down your cheek.
“Aw are you crying?” Carol pouted.
“I just thought you wanted to actually get to know me.” You choked out.
“Get to know you? I’d rather talk to a freak than talk to you. But I guess that’s what I’m doing now huh?” Laughter erupted around you. People stopped and stared at you, all eyes were on you, people where whispering and giggling.
You quickly walked away from them, tears clouding your vision you didn’t want to go anywhere else but out. Your friends tried to stop you but you ignored them, you were just trying to get to your car where you could be alone. Getting in your car, you finally let it all out. They humiliated you in front of everyone, Steve placed a bet on you, everyone knew why. You were a loser. You’d never be Nancy Wheeler and you’d never be with Steve Harrington. Going home that day felt awful, you told your parents that you got sick and just needed to be home for the day, or the week. Thankfully, they took the bait and let you come home early and stay home for the week. Your mom went to the school to pick up your work you missed and that kept you occupied for the time being but didn’t distract you from your feelings.
It didn’t help either that one of your friends called you, basically screaming at you that Steve asked her out on a date and she was calling you from the diner payphone that they were at right now. Your heart almost about blew up when you heard that. The day he does that to you, he asks one of your friends out? You told her congrats and when she briefly asked about your date, you just told her that you canceled because you didn’t feel well, hence why you left school today. She instantly bought it and told you that she’ll update you later and hung up. Of course, everyone had a crush on Steve and everyone wanted to be Steve. You wanted Steve but you didn’t know his personality, you didn’t know who he was as a person until now. Every girl he’s been with was ranting and raving about him and the dates he brings them on, you just wanted to experience one. You knew you were pretty, smart and you had a pretty decent reputation, why would he do that to you. Steve made you feel like nothing. He made you feel ugly, stupid and a loser. Steve Harrington was an asshole and no one knew that expect for you.
=
Tuesday finally came. You begged your mom to stay home again, since you did Monday. You tired the fake puke trick but she saw right through it. Your mom convinced you if you went to school, you could buy something out of a catalog. You couldn’t pass that opportunity. If you were coming back, you were coming back looking like you haven’t been crying for the past week. You threw on the cutest outfit you could find, made sure the tear stains were off your face, kissed your mom goodbye and headed to school. The moment you walked in, the counselor grabbed you by the throat and dragged you into her office. Ms. Kelly was a nice lady; it was clear she cared about the students but it annoyed you because you didn’t want to talk. She asked how you were doing and what you plan on doing to keep your grades up. You explained that you have all your work, you just need to turn it in.
“Wonderful!” she said.
Ms. Kelly looked down at her paper, dragging her finger along until she stopped.
“Ms. Click has actually requested to see you, I told her I'd send you down to talk to her. She couldn’t wait until your period. You can also take your work for her class and turn it in then.” She said, writing a hall pass. “Just come back here when you’re done okay?” You nodded gripping your history work, taking the hall pass and walking to Clicks. You liked Click, she was nice to you and you had her 5th period which was such a calm class, you liked everyone in there. As soon as you opened the door to Clicks, everyone's eyes were on you and even pair you didn’t want. Steve Harringtons.
“Oh, perfect timing! Class, turn and talk about the question on the board I'll be a moment.”
You walked into the classroom more to Clicks desk. She smiled at you and offered you a little candy. How could you say no. You handed her your stack of papers as she sat down at her desk.
“How have you been. 5th hour hasn’t been the same!”
You glanced around the class to see the people. Steve was still looking at you. You began to fiddle with the hem of your shirt.
“Oh, I've been sick. Flu season I guess.”
“Ah, I see. Thank you for doing your work while you were sick. Not a lot of kids even do their work in class.” you nodded. “I called you here to obviously see if you were alright but also to see if a student can borrow your notes. You did them perfectly and I think it would help them. Don’t worry, he’ll give it back to me so you can have it back.” Click began to look through another pile of papers.
“Sure, who’s using it?”
“Steve.”
The color drained from your face. God was not on your side today. You didn’t want the cause of you missing school to look at your notes, it’s his fault he’s stupid.
“Ah, here we are,” She pulled out your notes and handed them to you. “Give those to Steve please and you can be on your way. We can talk more in 5th hour!” She smiled. You grabbed your notes and have her a tight-lipped smile. Turning away from her desk, you walked to Steve’s. He clearly wasn’t doing the assignment, just goofing around and flirting with the girls around him. Making it to his desk, he stopped talking to the girls and instantly looked at you.
“What-”
“Ms. Click wanted me to give you my notes to help you out.” you interrupted, holding out the notes to him.
“Pfft, I don’t need your notes. I don’t want to read mistakes.”
Hold it together.
“It wasn’t my choice. It was Ms. Cli-”
“Does it look like I care about what she has to say? No. Do I care what you have to say? No. I'm surprised you even came to school today looking like this.”
The girls around him started giggling and whispering to each other.
“I think I look fine.”
“Well, I'm glad you had the confidence to wear clothes from the salvation army.”
Don’t cry.
“For your information, I got an ‘A’ on these notes and Ms. Click said I was the only one who got an ‘A.’ And I got these from a catalog and I'm sorry my daddy doesn’t buy me every new thing like your ugly BMW you drive and at least I'm not a wannabe dickhead.”
Steve put his hands over his chest, having a shocked expression on his face which quickly switched to a smug look.
“Wow! You got me there! You showed me!” Steve scooted up closer in his seat, resting his arms in front of him looking right at you.
“I'm not the wannabe sweetheart, you are. You want to have my money and BMW so bad but here you are driving your run-down Ford Escort and thinking that catalog clothing is going to save you. It’s not. Sure, you think you're all smart but looks will do you better in the future. Remember that.” Steve snatched the notes from your hands and started to talk to his friends again.
You left the classroom so fast, before you could say goodbye to Ms. Click. The whole day you were worried about what Steve said. About how you looked and how looks will get you places. You knew it was bullshit, you had colleges already begging for you to go to school but it’s the way Steve said it. Worse of it all, you went to 5th hour, hoping for a good period. Until you got your notes back to notice he scribbled all over them, writing things, drawing crude things on all your work. You frantically began to look through the notes until one comment stood out to you.
‘When you walk out of school, make sure to wear the bag on your head I left you at your locker. You need it.’
Tears filled your eyes. You shot up from your seat and ran out of your class. Ms. Click was yelling for you as you ran down the halls until you got to your locker. There you saw a paper bag with eye holes cut out of it, tapped to your locker. You ripped the bag off your locker and fell to your knees, sobbing into the paper bag. Why was Steve being so mean to you? You should be ruining his life; he shouldn’t be ruining yours. This all started with a date that turned out to be a joke and then ever since your life went downhill. Classmates from your period found you and tried to comfort you of what happened. You broke and told Ms. Click what happened and what Steve did which led to Principal Higgins getting involved and calling your parents and Steve's. He got a suspended for the rest of the week which was a relief to you but didn’t help the situation. Now since this situation, you were known as the ‘Cry baby.’ Your friends tried to help you feel better and stood up for you when the time was right. You were grateful to have a support system but not grateful for Steve Harrington.
=
It’s been a few months since the whole Steve situation and some forgot about it and moved on to other things like the Byers youngest boy going missing and Barb Holland also going missing, making the whole town worried. Steve was still a dick but he didn’t pay any mind to you though, he was too busy dealing with his goons and his dream girl, Nancy Wheeler. A part of you still had a crush on him, just the smallest he was still cute but he was still a dick. You had to go see Ms. Kelly every Friday since what happened which you didn’t mind but it was still annoying. It was the same bland conversation about your week. If there's any people giving you a hard time, grades, college, just boring, stupid conversations that waste your time during 6th period but you got to leave earlier which was a plus. Before you left, Ms. Kelly told you that your mom called and wanted you to stop by Melvald’s to grab some more dish soap so that’s where you are now, looking for dish soap and Melvald’s. Why are there so many soaps? You never paid attention to what one you used it was just soap.  You notice someone move at the conner of your eye, you paid no mind to it until you noticed who the someone was. The navy-blue jacket, the blue jeans, the green shirt, the hair. Yeah, it was him.
Oh god not here.
Focus on the soaps.
Glancing over at him he was looking at the band aids and ointments he looked dazed, squinting at labels trying to make it clear. Then a pair of hazel eyes fell on you, making you quickly look at the soaps. You swore your heart was going to explode it was pounding so fast, it felt like someone was squeezing your whole body you couldn’t breathe. Was this really happening? Why was he here? How could you not see his BMW in the parking lot? Anxiety riddled your body as you heard someone shuffle up to you. God don’t let it be you.
“Hey,”
Frozen in place, you moved your head slightly to look at him. You were taken back by the way he looked. The right side of his face was bloody and bruised with the wound already scabbing over, his right eye swollen, a small cut settled on his lip following one on the bridge of his nose., going slightly down to the right of his cheek.  He looked awful. You tried not to stare at him too much, you didn’t want to be rude but it was impossible to look away. Who did this to the king of Hawkins high?
“Sorry to bother you. I just--I can't really read this. Is this the right ointment?”
Your eyes trailed down to the box he was holding making you huff out a laugh.
“Well, if you have hemorrhoids then yes, but otherwise no.”
“Uh, no. Not necessarily.” His face turned a light shade of red. “I need something for um,” he pointed to his face rising his eyebrows. “This.”
“I’ll help you. Hemorrhoid cream definitely isn't gonna help that.” you kicked yourself for that and made your way to where he was before. Steve stood watching you look through the hundreds of creams and ointments on the shelf. You eventually found one and replaced it the original ointment in Steve's hand for the new one.
“Zemo will help a lot it does wonders; it makes it less itchy and heals quicker. You'll thank me later.”
Steve looked at the medicine and looked back at you. There was no hatred in his eyes, no cruelness. Just hurt. He was hurt inside and out; he was guilty for what he’s done to you and so many others. He’s guilty for hurting the only girl he loves. He’s hurting.
“Thanks.” that’s all he could say to you in this moment. A simple thank you, not anything else.
“Have you cleaned them?”
“Uh no, just had an aspirin and a cold coke to put it on.” Steve shrugged.
You sighed.
“Okay, just get that, I'll finish what I need and meet me outside okay?”
-
The stinging sensation of the alcohol covered cotton pad on the open wound made Steve wince, making him pull his head away from you. You muttered a sorry and he just huffed and let you clean him up. Never in a million years you would be sitting here in the Milvad’s parking lot taking care of Steve Harrington. He watched you carefully as you take your time with him, carefully moving so he wouldn’t be in as much pain as he already was. It took someone to beat the absolute shit out of him for him to realize how much of a dick he was. How miserable he made people feel. How miserable he made you feel.
“Sorry, this happened to you, I can't imagine how much it hurts.”
Steve scoffed at your sincerity.
“I deserved it, you out of all people should be happy this happened to me.”
“A little part of me is,” you admitted. “Who did this to you?”
You put the cotton pad down and grabbed the Zemo putting a glob on your finger and gently rubbing it in over his wound. Steve hissed at the contact.
“Jonathan Byers.” Steve mumbled.
“Oh wow.” You were quite shocked that a quiet boy like him could rock Steve’s shit. Steve was fit, he had to be for basketball and baseball so you assume he could win a fight. You finished applying the Zemo and giving it to Steve.
“Make sure you put this on twice a day, and only once if you shower. It should help the itch and the scaring a bit. You'll be healed in no time.”
Steve held the Zemo in his hands and watched you clean everything up. You were really pretty up close. Yeah, he looked at you close up a lot of times but this time he noticed every detail of your face, every curve, every wrinkle, every texture, he was scared of looking away because he didn’t want to forget it. Steve thought back to the paper bag he taped to your locker, Tommy and Carol thought it would be a funny idea and so did he at the time. When he was in the principal's office with his dad with you and your parents, he glanced at you and his chest was tight. Your head was hanging low, tears falling down your cheeks and landing on your hands, silent sobs coming from you. Steve recoiled when heard let out sobs after him and his dad left the principal's office. Mr. Harrington made it clear if he pulled that shit again, he would be kicked off the basketball and baseball teams, he wouldn’t get into an ivy league school and end up as a drug dealer on the streets. Mrs. Harrington told him that’s no way to treat girls, there’s no reason to bully girls anyway. She was disappointed in her Stevie and Stevie was disappointed in himself. Of course, that didn’t stop him from being an asshole, if he didn’t get caught then he wouldn’t have to go through that whole fiasco again so he moved on from you and started being an arrogant prick either way to everyone around him. That ended up getting beat up, ditching his “friends” and getting taken care of by the girl he bullied.
“Thanks for doing this, you didn’t have to you know?”
“I know.” you responded.
“Why did you?”
You sighed and looked at him. He looked so vulnerable, his hazel eyes soft and looking at you. Steve looked like a lost puppy; in some cases, he was. Now he was. He had no friends anymore, he was hurt and lost, no guidance, nothing. You seemed like the only thing keeping him afloat at this moment.
“Unlike some people Steve, I care. No matter what you did to me, how you treated me, you deserve some type of -- I don’t know but I was always taught to help people that needed it. I know you know what's right. I know what you have to do, so do it. You're better than this Steve Harrington.”
You walked towards your car, quickly getting in throwing the stuff in the front and driving off before Steve could say anything to you. Deep down, you knew Steve was a good person he was just around bad people. As much as you hated it, you knew he had to apologize to Nancy, he had to make everything up to her and even Jonathan but it was selfish to think he’d do the same to you.

So, I know you don't commonly really write for steddie, and you don't have to write this if you don't wanna. But what about Like, reader graduates hawkins high and goes of to college (eddie is probably still held back for his last year???) And when she left she was more on the quite side, soft color pallet, kinda stariotypical pastel sunshine character. And she comes back for the summer and she's like, more punk-ish??? Like a few more piercings, and same kinda quite personality but kinda different aesthetic?
I think you could do something similar with poly!marauders as well, where same thing happens but it's over the summer between years?
Idk, you dont even have to write it, I just have a stupid soft spot for this weird trope/character arc. Make sure to take care of yourself and have a lovely day!!!!!
I'm happy to write for any characters on my list, thanks for requesting gorgeous! Hope you're having a lovely day and taking care of yourself as well <3
Steddie x fem!reader ♡ 637 words
Steve and Eddie are scanning the crowd for you up until the very moment you come up to them. Even then, it takes Eddie a second to recognize you.
“Hey,” you say, tentative.
“Hey,” Steve says, stepping forward. “Shit, honey, come here.”
You grin, some of the apprehension easing from your features as you hug him.
“Shit,” Eddie agrees, wrapping his arms around the both of you. “Almost didn’t recognize you, sunshine.”
Sunshine might not even be the best nickname for you now. When you’d left for college last fall, you’d looked like the rainbow had befriended you personally. All pastels, colorful sweaters and flowy little skirts. Now, it’s like you’ve been plucked from a graphic novel. Your clothes are dark down to the shoes, with ripped black tights under your shorts and lace-up combat boots that, frankly, Eddie thinks might get a little hot in the Indiana summer. He wonders if you’d be amenable to him calling you his little bat. Or witchling, maybe? He’ll have to workshop it.
“You look so different.” Steve sounds positively flabbergasted, stepping back to take you in more fully. “I mean, not a bad different, I just—wow, it’s really…” Eddie snickers. In his opinion, you look far less like someone Steve Harrington would ordinarily date (the girl next door, preppy style, Nancy Wheeler clone) and more like someone he would (cool as fuck). Luckily for you, they both love you down to your ooey gooey core no matter how you present yourself.
“It’s a new look, babe, and it’s fucking sick,” Eddie summarizes. “Is this what college does to people? Maybe I should come visit.”
You roll your eyes at him, flushing faintly. Another pro of your new style: the pink of your face stands out ever-so-much-more brilliantly against your new dark palate.
“I’m serious, sweetheart,” Eddie goes on, delighting in watching your color change. “I need you to start coming to my shows so we can lure in your crowd. You’re too fucking cool for us now.”
Your shoulders start to come up around your ears, but Steve saves you, tucking you under his arm with a kiss to the top of your head. “She was always too cool for us,” he says. It’s the truth, and Eddie sends you a wink to make sure you know he knows it. “You look amazing, really. God, we’ve missed you so—is that a tattoo?”
Eddie all but lunges for you. “Where?”
“Here,” Steve says, stretching the collar of your shirt over your shoulder, where an inky design sits starkly against your skin. “Shit, this is so cool.” Eddie jostles for space, head squishing between yours and Steve’s to get a better look. “It really works for you.”
You smile bashfully. “Thanks.”
“Fuck me,” Eddie breathes, and you shiver pleasantly as his breath his your shoulder. “Actually, if I can get us to Steve’s in five minutes, would you top me right now? This is too fucking hot—oh, don’t look at me like that, Stevie boy. You know you like it too.”
“I do,” Steve says, giving Eddie a look that’s probably aiming for stern but only hitting fond as he tries to coax your face from his chest. “It looks great honey, when did you get this?”
Your voice is characteristically quiet, but a bit proud, when you say, “That one’s from a couple months ago. I got my first last November, though.”
“Your first?” Eddie’s gobsmacked. “How many are there? Wait, no, don’t tell me.” He grabs you by the legs, hoisting you over his shoulder. “I wanna find ‘em.”
“Eds, put me down!” You hiss in his ear, but your words are undercut by giggles. “Steve!”
“Sorry, but I’m kinda on board with this one,” Steve says with an apologetic shrug in your direction. He tosses Eddie the keys.

I have blurb idea for the kids in season one when you have time for it. In season one after bug left with Nancy and Jonathan the kids debriefing on what they just saw. Which is basically just the kids gossiping about what they think is going on between the three. Like Mike asked Nancy if she liked Jonathan now so clearly he saw something going on ya know?
anon i LOVE this one its always so fun writing the kids gossiping about the teens <333
enjoy !
"whats going on with your sister and jonathan, man?" lucas asks your brother as they watch you run out of the schools gym after jonathan and nancy.
dustin sighs and rests his head against the bleachers. "i dont know. theyve been weird all week."
"i think it has something to do with my sister?" mike joins in on the conversation now. "i asked nancy if she liked jonathan and then she got all weird."
"why would she like him if shes with harrington and y/n is with jonathan?" lucas frowns now, feeling suddenly defensive over you. "do we need to do something?"
mike hits his friend with the back of his head. "no, doofus. y/n doesnt need you to fight for her weird honor."
"well, i mean, maybe she does-"
dustin slaps a hand over lucas' mouth with a disgusted look on his face. "dude. your crush on my sister is showing and its gross."
lucas yanks dustins hand away and shrieks. "i do not have a crush on y/n!"
mike and dustin share a look with one another as el, who has been quiet this entire conversation as she rests, lets out a weak giggle. during her few days observing you with the party, its obvious even to her that lucas has a slight crush on you.
seeing everyones disbelief, lucas throws his hands up in the air and groans. "look, this isnt about me! clearly theres something wrong between jonathan and y/n, and if theyre fighting then that means we wont be able to get free rides out of them anymore."
"why wouldnt we get free rides if theyre fighting?" dustin asks, furrowing his brows in confusion.
"because jonathan has his own car and we'd be taking y/n's side," mike says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world with an eye roll. "duh."
your brother feels a certain happiness at the knowledge that his friends would take your side against jonathans. and, even though will isnt here right now, they all know that he would also ditch his brother in a heartbeat for you.
all the kids would.
youre a part of the party.
the boys eat the cookies that you made for them in silence for a while as they think about the strangeness between you and jonathan tonight. while theyre more than willing to defend you and take your side, they cant help but be worried about it.
theyve never seen you and jonathan so off kilter before, and it frightens them to even consider the idea that the connection between you two could be severed.
"theyll be okay, right?" lucas finally voices the worries that they all have quietly sat with.
dustin sighs, also unsure himself. hes grown up watching the two of you become intertwined with one another. now, he watches as you slowly unravel, and hes not sure how it will end. "its y/n and jonathan we're talking about. of course theyll be okay... they-they have to be okay."
"well thats depressing." mike says with yet another eye roll. "why cant we just keep y/n and replace jonathan with someone else?"
"careful, mike." lucas leans in close to the boy now and puckers his lips and makes kissing noises. "nancy could replace harrington with jonathan."
"yuck!" mike shoves his friend away and looks towards dustin for help. "that wont happen, right?"
dustin frowns. for once, he really isnt sure. he saw nancy and jonathan earlier, how they almost left you behind tonight, and he saw the hurt in your eyes when you watched them together. theres feelings there between the three of you, and dustin is afraid for you. its obvious to everyone how much you adore jonathan; your entire world revolves around the guy.
with a sigh, dustin shakes his head. "no idea, man. i dont understand teenagers."
"no one does." lucas rests his head in his hand and chews sadly on his cookie. then, with poorly hidden curiosity, he asks, "my crush on y/n isnt that obvious, right? like, she has no idea?"
mike and dustin again share a look and shake their heads at their friend while el lifts her head up. with all the energy she has left in her, she responds to lucas. "friends dont lie."
lucas covers his face in embarrassment and groans as mike, el, and dustin all break into laughter.

SIDEMEN RANKING: Which of the Sidemen would make the best boyfriend?
Tumblr media
ik this was a tag challenge for Beta Squad last year but I thought I'd do this for the Sidemen... Gonna tag @w2soneshots @xxkatxgracexx @chemreacti0n, @anaaye7 and @inevesgf to do this next w their own opinions... but really anyone who sees this can, if you want :)
-----------
7. Tobi -Just such hard red flag vibes i cannot LIE -Sure he's a pretty face n hot n all that... -But the boys always say he's really secretive + ppl never know where he is half the time... Instantly a bit red flaggy -And then also i feel like he'd be one of those hypocritical bf's that want a woman who's completely virginal and saintly, regardless of whether he has been his entire life. 🤐
6. Harry -I said it'd be realistic and im not gna pander to the w2s girlies this time when i dont think it's true to reality 👿 -Because Harry is very much a spontaneous personality -And as a couple, or being in a relationship - it's very much sorta based in working around being partners, atl when it gets more serious -But I feel like Harry's one of them personas that gets motivation to do things very sporadically, and that just means he struggles matching to other people and working around a schedule that agrees with someone else's -And in those unmotivated phases he gets, I fear he would be so negative nancy-ish, like, wouldn't be inspiring anything within you, very demotivating to yourself... Not really a fun person to do things with or be around. Let alone date
5. Ethan -Tbf i have to respect it bc he's had a long term partner now and he's fully living w Faith n has little baby Olive, too... Very respectable, realistic, reliable. -...But. -We've all seen the Growing Paynes podcast clip where him and Faith argue about the fact that Ethan's not gna propose until Faith agrees to take his second name and drop her family surname. -So we know that he wouldn't be able to compromise. -And from SDMN sunday's, we already know he's quite stubborn. -Although, that being said - there's definitely a lot of good that comes with Ethan, iven if he doesn't carry all of the forwards thinking views -Like, he's a very familiy oriented man - which i generally don't like - but the clip that jumps out to me is seeing him tear up on the pod saying about how he gets upset and he doesn't like seeing Faith and Olive getting shittalked by fans. -The genuineness and honesty and raw emotion of that one actually got me respecting Ethan quite a bit. -Also j because he's very in touch with mental health and physical health bc of his fitness journey, I do feel like he would be a very reliable and motivating partner which is quite good from him. Bosh.
4. JJ and Vik, tied for this spot. -They both have equal number of "yeah that's quite good"s and "oh that's not-!"s -Like, one thing that contrasts these two are emotional intellect. -Because JJ I feel like is highly in touch with his emotional side - like, he's had therapy and ik his current gf is a therapist - he definitely understands emotions and would be really uplifting and helpful in times whereby emotionally you're not doing the best and need someone to be a listener or just generally be there for you. -Vik on the other hand...? I feel like Vik has the mindset of a corporate business, in the fact that emotions are really hard for him to register and deal with appropriately sometimes. -Like, i mentioned this on the Crying HC's, Vik is deffo sorta made uncomfortable or rendered a little bit shocked and helpless when confronted with big displays of emotions bc he just doesn't know how to respond n deal with them. -One issue with both of them I can pick up asw, is the fact that they'd be always travelling and busy with their work: JJ with Prime, Misfits and music tours - Vik with business and music, too... Definitely makes the relationship a bit hard when during 8 days of the week, these guys are everywhere but home with you -BUT! It is very worth mentioning that these guys have both had long term relationships which don't just appear out of nowhere. -Vik is so respectful of his wife which I have sm respect for - their wedding was beautiful + even in the SDMN roast when a joke was made about her that felt a bit disrespectful, Vik didn't laugh at it - he fully kept a straight face out of respect for her which I lowkey highkey respect, because it takes balls not to follow the crowd n laugh at that sorta thing when everyone else is -And I mean, JJ also has been dating his gf for like, 7 maybe 8 years??? I don't remember what he said in his vid... But again, clearly shows a lot of commitment to the relationship which I respect! -Only con exclusive to JJ which I can think of, is that he's kinda misogynistic which would 100% reflect in a relationship which is annoying... Liiiiike, all his try not to laughs and content atm just feels very misogyny fuelled and has rly put me off of his JJ Olatunji channel, unfortunately. -But I think overall - JJ and Vik are both relatively equal in terms of who would be better/worse to date
2. Joshuaaaa! -I reckon Josh isn't the most entertaining or handsome or funny or cool or young or funny or young of the lot -... -But I reckon he'd be a great boyfriend -I mean - reoccurring theme - but he's been in a relationship with Freya for 13+ flipping years, if you've voluntarily kept someone with you for that long, something about you has gotta be good. -And he's definitely one of the more/most chill of the boys like, I feel a lot of the other boys are more sorta guarded or sensitive about their partner... But Josh is 100% Freya's hypeman, and the same for Freya to Josh -Like, Josh as a partner would be the most easy life ever - bro always has everything planned and under control CONSTANTLY, never a day of stress with him -Just yes.
Simon miniMINTER -(idk why formatting has switched up on me at the last minute) -But honestly this guy is so much more mature than the rest of the Sidemen it's both lowking shocking and so satisfying to watch -And again, for the final time: Has had a partner for nearly/maybe even 8 years - he deffo just gets it. -Understands compromise, and even in the vlogs with Talia - you can just tell he's become so much less stubborn and accommodating in his life as he's grown and gotten married and wisened up -Speaking of Talia: He's genuinely her biggest supporter. I rmbr watching her music vid Bored, and she was getting loads of hate for it at the time - but Simon was supporting thru n thru on insta, youtube, her lives.... I love that sm for him, he's so gf-oriented, which we love to see. -And also omds he's aging like fiiiiiine wine -Bc the beard and hair atm? Omds pictures from SoccerAid had me lowkey sweating over this GUYYY -And ik that he keeps his relationship off camera quite a bit - but i feel like that is once again a show of maturity from just knowing (having done YouTube for so long) that he wants to keep work and life separate -Which also shows a lot of healthy mindset n thinking which is why I think that yah, Simon is just like, top tier bf material -Scores 100% in looks, likeability and everything else possible

Ever since Dustin got back from camp, he wouldn't shut up about Steve and Robin being perfect for each other. At first, Steve had thought it would be nice to date Robin, but after being high on truth serum with her, he realized that he wouldn't want that as much as before. Dustin, however, would not stop insisting that they should date.
"You guys would be perfect, like me and Susie!" Dustin would argue, "Plus, you guys are always around each other, and you're basically already dating!"
"Okay, so if we're already dating in your 'genius'" Steve made air quotes with his fingers, "eyes, why can't you just leave it alone? You do realize that when I'm at work, I'm supposed to be doing my job, right?" Steve added on.
It was mostly Steve that had to deal with Dustin's obnoxiousness, but Robin was sometimes graciously gifted some of his comments as well.
"I'm just saying, you two would be good together." Dustin shrugged, as if he were stating an objective fact, which, in all fairness, he kind of was, just not in the romantic sense that he had implied.
"Ewww? Me and Dingus? No way, I can't stand that guy!" Robin said, clearly unserious by the way she drew out words. "Seriously though, kid. There isn't anything romantic going on between me and Steve, and there won't be. Ever. We're platonic with a capitol 'P'"
Dustin rolled his eyes, not accepting that that was the end of it, but he didn't say much else to Robin after that. He did, however, say a whole lot to the rest of the party.
Steve and Robin had enjoyed their two (2) weeks of calm before the storm, because, oh boy, they were not prepared for this.
It started with more persistence from Dustin to Steve that Steve had just brushed off, then Max saying something about how attached at the hip they were at a group hangout. Mike said something, then Will made a small comment following it. Lucas made the occasional joke about it, and every one would laugh while Steve and Robin would let out a nervous chuckle.
One night, while everyone was hanging out, Nancy had made a joke about them. Everyone laughed, and Steve and Robin did their usual, but five (5) minutes later, they both excused themselves to go outside.
"Steve! Steve, what do I do!" Robin panicked
"Okay, calm down, Rob. Just breath with me, okay? It's okay." He took in a breath, and Robin followed. They let out their breaths.
"Alright," Steve started "you wanna tell me what's up?"
"I- You know how I told you I didn't like Vicky anymore. That I like someone else?" Steve nodded. "Okay, well that, um... ok, that someone is... Nancy." Robin looked at Steve to see his reaction, but surprisingly, there wasn't really one, Steve just gave her an encouraging smile, letting her go on. "A-and she made the dumb joke, about us being together and stuff, and I don't know if she really thinks we're like that or if it was just a joke, or if she was just going along with everyone else and making a joke about it and I just really hope it's not the first because... i don't really know, because I'm not sure I have a chance with her to begin with and and and I dont know, Steve!" Robin sighed
"Hey, don't worry, Robin, and thanks for telling me about Nancy." Steve smiled. "But we're gonna figure this out, okay, and we'll do it together."
"Thanks, dingus" Robin paused. "Hug?"
"Why not!"
Steve wasn't really used to hugs, and physical affection in general, but Robin was helping him get a bit more comfortable with it.
When the two (2) walked back in, no one (thankfully) said anything, or made any of their jokes, which was a relief for Steve and Robin, and they went back to watching the movie that had been paused for intermission when Nancy made her comment, but since intermission was strictly fifteen (15) minutes long, and Robin and Steve had been talking for a bit longer than that, the group had started the movie back up without them. Nancy and Eddie, as well as Jonathan and his friend from California, Argyle, made room for them on the couch, although the four (4) of them we're already a little squished. Robin and Steve Squeezed in where the most room was, between Nancy and Eddie, Steve letting Robin sit next to Nancy now that he knew about her crush.
Robin could barely focus on the movie, not to say she minded much, seeing as she'd already seen it once or twice, but she was also sitting right next to Nancy. Steve had stat down next to Eddie, and Robin had thanked Steve with her eyes for letting her sit by Nancy. She knew her chances with Nancy were pretty slim, but not impossible, especially since she and Jonathan had broken up. Robin didn't really know the details to that, she just knew that they both wanted different things for their futures and decided it's be better to break up, rather than stick together and end up with a bunch of resentment. Nancy may have been single, but that didn't mean she liked girls, and even if she did like girls, liking girls didn't mean she liked Robin, either. Things did not look good for Robin, but she had hope, as well as help promised from Steve. Plus Nancy's hand kept grazing against Robin's own, though she may be over-exanimating it, maybe she really had a shot with Nancy.
Another time, Dustin and Max had been hounding Steve on why he wouldn't just get with Robin during another intermission.
"I already told you, we're strictly platonic! With a capitol 'P'! There is nothing more there! We're best friends, okay, that's it." Steve told them.
"You sure about that? Because that's usually what people say when they like someone. 'oh no, i dont like them, we're just friends'" Dustin said the last part in a high pitched voice.
"We're not dating! We're not going to date! And we never will, Dustin, I'm getting tired of this, ok." Steve complained when Max spoke up
"If one of you'd just admit it, then we could stop."
Steve groaned.
"Robin!" She ran over.
"What's up?" Robin asked Steve.
"Please, save me form these monsters." Steve rubbed his nose bridge as Dustin claimed that they weren't monsters.
"Who's a monster?" Eddie asked, coming back form the kitchen with a bucket of popcorn. "By the way, popcorn!" He offered the bucket, for anyone to take a handful but Dustin took the whole bucket, and Max took it from Dustin.
"Dustin" Steve sighed. "and Max. Those are the culprits. The 'monsters' if you will."
"What is it, Stevie? Can't take jokes about you're own girlfriend?" Eddie smiled. Steve did not; His eyes glazed over like he was about to cry. He grabbed Robin by the wrist and led her outside quickly.
"Steve!?" Eddie yelled behind them, but decided to wait until they come back inside to apologize "Hey, Dustin. Max. Maybe lay off the jokes about them. I don't think they think they're as funny as you do." Dustin and Max nodded, then went to tell the rest of the party to lay off some as well (though they were the ones who did it the most)
"Robs, I don't know what to do. I mean, It's like with Nancy, like you. But me. But Eddie. And he said- I dont-... He-... Robin, what do I do?" Steve could hardly breath
"First, we're gonna breath. Remember? Like we did for me?" Robin breathed in "In." Steve breathed. "Out." They let out their breaths and repeated it until their breathing was steady. "Okay. What's up Stevie?"
"Eddie..." Steve breathed in, looked at Robin. "I like Eddie. And he made one of those stupid jokes too." Steve started to cry "It shouldn't bother me. It didn't even bother you this much, like, you didn't cry, so why am I crying? It's stupid."
"Hey, it's not stupid." Robin placed her hands on Steve's shoulders. "Everyone goes through things differently. It's ok, Steve."
"Robs?"
"Hm?"
"Hug?"
"Of course" Robin went to hug him, but Steve pause.
"Can I also tell you something else?"
"Yeah, anytime, Stevie."
"I- I know this probably, like, goes without saying, because... Eddie, and stuff, but, I like more then girls... I, yeah. I also like boys." Steve breathed
"Thanks for telling me Steve" Robin smiled and pulled him in for a hug.
When they walked back in, Steve expected it to be like last time, for no one to really care where they had gone. For the most part, no one had cared, the movie was playing, and most everyone was in the living room of Steve's house watching the movie. Everyone but Eddie.
"Steve!" Eddie said. "Hey, I think I owe you an apology." Eddie walked over to where Steve and Robin where standing.
Steve looked back at Robin, and she asked with her eyes if he wanted her to stay or go. Steve nodded towards the living room, and she went in to watch the movie with the rest of the party, leaving Steve and Eddie in the kitchen.
"It's really fine, Eddie. You don't need to apologize for anything." Steve smiled tightly.
"No, I do, Stevie. I shoulda realized that you didn't like those jokes about you and Robin, and I shouldn't have made one. I told Dustin and Max to nock it off, so they should be off your case, and hopefully the rest of the kids will be too. I just- you shouldn't have to keep telling them the same thing and have them not believe you, even if it's a joke." Eddie sympathized, his doe eyes staring right into Steve's, while Steve's were flicking up and down on Eddie's face while he was talking.
Steve couldn't tell if it was from what Eddie said, or because he had been crying not long ago, but he felt the need to cry again. He swallowed thickly, trying to hold back his tears, searching Eddie's face. He didn't do a very good job at holding his tears in, because he could feel one fall down his cheek. Eddie wiped the his cheek, caressing it.
"Sorry, I didn't mea-" Steve is cut off by Eddie shushing him, looking at him sweetly. Everything about the moment, the way Eddie is touching him and looking at him, how close they are, it makes him feel warm inside. It makes him wish he could feel this feeling everyday, so much that it was second nature to feel this way.
"It's ok, Stevie. Don't worry." Eddie said stroking Steve's cheek, Steve leaning closer toward him, unable to stop his body from wanting to be closer to Eddie.
"Eddie?"
"Steve." Eddie raised his eyebrows.
"Can I... tell you something... important?" Steve looked away from Eddie's eyes and swallowed.
"Of course you can." Eddie tried to meet his eyes, Steve deciding that he could look back at Eddie's
He took a deep breath. "I... I don't just uhm..."
"It's ok, man. You can tell me if you want to, but you dont have to."
"No, no, I want to." Steve took another breath, and Eddie rubbed his cheek once more, hoping to encourage him. "Eddie. I dont just like girls. I, um, i like guys too. Both, y'know." Steve looked at Eddie, hoping he wouldn't push Steve away and never talk to him again. Maybe he should've chosen a different time to tell Eddie this, one where he didn't feel so warm and, well, right.
"Thank you for telling me Steve. It means a lot to me that you trust me enough to tell me." Eddie smiled at him, and Steve breathed out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding and smiled back at him. "And, uhm, since we're already on the subject. I also like guys. But, uh, just guys. Yeah."
Steve's smile widened. "Thanks for trusting me, Eddie."
It was silent for a little while, but not an awkward or uncomfortable silence. They we're just there together, looking at each other. They'd come closer together now, Eddie's hand that wasn't caressing Steve's cheek was now holding Steve's waist, and Steve's on Eddie's shoulders.
"Stevie?" Eddie asked.
Steve hummed in response.
"Can I kiss you?"
Steve nodded. "Please"
Robin had sat next to Nancy on the couch when she went into the living room. There had been an empty seat that no one had taken so she decided to take it, plus there was the added bonus that definitely wasn't the main reason she sat there of sitting next to her crush. When she sat down she was glad she had already seen the movie they were watching before, because she realized that she'd be thinking about Nancy the whole time she was supposed to be watching the movie.
"Hey." Nancy whispered, smiling at her, pulling her out of her thoughts. She's beautiful, Robin thought, she's like the sun. Robin wondered if she was warm like the sun as well, she wanted to know everything about her.
"Hey." Robin whispered back.
"You've seen this before right?" Nancy started shifting so her whole body was facing Robin, while Robin hummed a response. "You like it?"
"Yeah, I mean, it's alright. What about you? What do you think?" Robin asked her.
"Yeah, it's alright." Nancy paused. "Robin."
"Yeah?"
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for all the jokes about you and Steve. From the kids and for the one from me, they were dumb and i should have stopped the kids, and myself from telling them. So I'm sorry." Nancy looked at Robin, hoping she'd accept her apology.
"It's ok, thanks for apologizing" Robin smiled at Nancy and she smiled back. Nancy looked at Robin, leaning closer to her. "Can I-" Nancy hummed in response before she could finish. Robin leaned in, but then she looked behind Nancy, seeing the kids, realizing that they shouldn't do this here. "Let's go in the kitchen." Robin says, her face inches away from Nancy's, as she starts to stand up. Robin offers her hand to Nancy, and they walk into the kitchen.
Robin had stopped in her tracks as soon as they walked into the kitchen, though. She had totally forgotten that Steve had been in there with Eddie! They had only been looking at each other, heavily breathing though, hands caught in each other's hair.
"Ooh-" Robin said, in shock.
Steve and Eddie both wiped their heads to see Robin and Nancy standing at the kitchen doorway, all of them red in the face.
"I- sorry. Um, congrats though, Steve?" Robin says awkwardly, almost sounding like she was asking Steve if she was congratulating him.
"Oh- yeah, thanks. You too, right?" Steve looked at the floor awkwardly.
"Oh, ehh, not quite yet..." Robin pursed her lips, while Nancy's face scrunched up in confusion. Her eyes went wide, suddenly understanding what she meant, remembering what they had originally went into the kitchen for. She turned to Robin and brought her hand up to cover their mouths. Nancy placed her hand on the back of Robin's neck, tilted her own head, and kissed her, Robin kissing her back.
Eddie looks away from them to Steve, who's smiling at Robin.
"Hey, Stevie?" He whispers.
"Yeah? What's up?" Steve replies, looking away from Robin to look at Eddie.
"We should leave them alone, yeah?" Steve nodded. "Your room?" Eddie raised his eyebrows and grinned, Steve rolled his eyes, trying (and failing) to suppress a smile, and grabbed his hand, stepping back from him.
"As you wish." Steve led Eddie up the stairs into his room, leaving Nancy and Robin in the kitchen.
"Robin." Nancy said, pulling away, still right next to her face.
"Yeah, Nance?"
"You're beautiful." Nancy smiled at Robin, who's cheeks reddened. Just then they heard a loud thump followed by laughter.
"Dumbasses." Robin said with a smile, resting her forehead on Nancy's as the evening turned into night, and friends turned into lovers.

Interesting points from anon who argued for bottom mike there. Thanks for being so generous with your explanation for your preference!
I found this interesting: i guess my main reasoning for him being a bratty bottom is just how he acts sometimes through the show, his clear distaste for being told what to do and his snappy comebacks.
To me, this indicates that mike very much would not want to be told what to do in the bedroom, and would thus take control. Distaste… so why would he like being told what to do in the bedroom?
I mean, maybe, as a kink, as a relief, in the way people who engage in d/s culture enjoy the separation from their reality. But that’s also a highly self aware and advanced sexual expression that requires knowledge and courage. Your average virgin does not immediately engage in bdsm culture or even understand its psychology. Most people barely know what they like in the bedroom, let alone the complex dynamics of bdsm and d/s.
Which leads me to the realisation of how interesting it is to see such common dom/sub conversations around byler sex in this fandom. it speaks to the fact that fandom is very fantasy- and imagination-based rather than just working with what is canon. It's so intriguing, because I personally came to fandom hoping to discuss the show, almost analytically like we were in media class, and found lots of fantasy play and headcanons and stuff, which I hadn't known were a thing. At first it didnt make sense to me... why would you want to celebrate characters/a show but make it completely into something that no longer resembles that show or those characters??
I understand fandom better now, but even so re: sex, I would say that irl, at least 50% of people dont engage in dom/sub dynamics in their sex life at all, or even anything that would be considered kinky or fetish. In fact, one you've removed the percentage of people who don’t have sex at all, a large portion of sexually active people (especially women) don’t engage in even the simplest kind of vanilla sex where they ask for the bare minimum of what they would enjoy, what they want, know what they want - many dont even enjoy sex or know how to orgasm. This doesnt mean their sex is abusive or toxic or they have a history of trauma, but just that they dont feel comfortable or that it’s their place to ask for pleasure. They just do what they think they should do, 'normal sex' (a common historic phrase here was 'lie back and think of england' lmao... basically what royal queens were told to think as their husbands butchered them in the least enjoyable way possible).
(I also always found the scene with Steve’s mean friends in s1, after he and Nancy have sex, uncomfortable because they were clearly taking the mick out of Nancy when imitating her screams, and it highlighted how performative that sexual experience may well have been for Nancy. I mean, if Steve made her cum during her first time? Damn, he’s good. But chances are he didn’t, and nancy’s storyline was partially about performances and status in s1, so her first time w Steve also being performative is a possibility. It makes the barb storyline even sadder too.)
But back to byler. theyre boys so dynamic will be different to a man and woman, but I think dom/sub conversation comes up so much more in gay sex, and is it because people just can’t see gay men as being equals in the bedroom? Even though people have no issue imaging equal sex with a man and woman, despite a similar dynamic of who is penetrating? But two men? Nope, one must be dom or sub, one must be more powerful, even if you’re a power bottom you’re still a power something. Why can’t it be equal? Why do we ALWAYS have to refer to dom and sub?
I’m not saying that dynamic wouldnt exist for byler at some point, or that it’s no good, but it doesn’t need to be the only frame of reference. Sure, byler don’t always have to have penetrative sex either, but even if they are, will it ever be possible to talk about topping and bottoming without power dynamics being involved? Equal union, joining of bodies, not an inkling of power in sight. In fact, not even using the term ‘topping’ and ‘bottoming’, which may well have origins in physicality, such as the missionary position, but certainly also hold connotations of power. Who’s on top? Who’s bottom? I don’t love the wording tbh, and I wonder what the history of that is in gay culture.
"Which leads me to the realization of how interesting it is to see such common dom/sub conversations around byler sex in this fandom. it speaks to the fact that fandom is very fantasy- and imagination-based rather than just working with what is canon. It's so intriguing, because I personally came to fandom hoping to discuss the show, almost analytically like we were in media class, and found lots of fantasy play and headcanons and stuff"
This is so interesting to me - it reminds me of that one anon the regular byler poll blog got recently about their confusion as to why people were speculating about things they can't possibly know the answer to. But yeah, you're right that a significant portion of fandom is imagination/headcanon based, and I agree with the anon on the byler polls account who pointed out that this is largely personality-driven, where some are all about this and others are... very much not.
All your other points are super interesting too! What does everyone else think?

Addressing Drama!!!
CW: INCEST, SA, ABUSE, GROOMING, PROSHIP MENTIONS!!
Okay, so I was recently removed from a tcm discord server and there was a whole ass post about it made on their profile.
I have “Minors dni” because i posted some sexually explicit posts as well as posts about heavy topics before, and I don’t want minors to follow my blog just to see that shit pop up on their feeds. And you saying me interacting with minors is werid when i was legit a minor a few months ago is wild, the mentality that when someone turns 18 that they suddenly should never interact with people 1-2 years younger than them is a crazy and chronically online take since im still in highschool.
What makes you think my post about Johnny’s SA was… glorifying it? It was written in a way people with media literacy could see how much that affected him, I literally never said bro liked it or made it seem all fetishy.(if i went into HORRIFIC detail about his rape and how nancy groomed him would actually be more lending towards Fetish content.) And if it’s such a bad read on Nancy and Johnny’s relationship, maybe you should read more about the psychology of incest and how it affects the victims. Because to me, Johnny and Nancy’s relationship clearly looks like a boy mom’s relationship with her son; which is emotional incest. The post was made in a way that shows how Johnny feels about it, which is typical for how most male victims react to incestual sa.
My connection with the proshipper known as Zora and their friend is completely in the past, as I’ve grown to realize the content they were posting was actually terrible and not something I should inspire to do also. I was freshly an adult when I became friends with them, and was excited about being close with a big creator of my favourite ship. I’m still impressionable and very naive to dangers people present to me, as I was groomed into being okay with any warning signs. To put this into perspective; I’m still a senior in high school, if you are in a high school we would be in the same school. No dont going saying Zora groomed me either, they were under the impression i was near 19 when becoming apart of their friend group. Stop the hate parade with them too, yall chased bro off the internet. I am still accountable for my actions as an 18 year old, but I will not tolerate you bringing stuff up from the past when I’m still considered a teenager in real life and have made steps to improve my mental health.
Yes some of my posts about Danny/Johnny were lending themselves towards unhinged fetish content, and I apologize. I was going through something because guess what? I’m a victim, a victim groomed repeatedly into this behaviour. Believe it or not, victims of this type of abuse will not always reach your moral purity standards. This is not excusable, but just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean you can’t have empathy for why they’re like that.
Incest, abuse, any of that shit is NOT my fetish. If writing these topics mean its my fetish, then any good piece of writing in literature means those authors have those fetishes by your standards; like the author of Lolita. (A book well known for its use of a deceptive narrator to portray how truly evil pedophilia is). By your logic, he should be into it too. I write about it because i find it interesting to explore the horror of it and how it would horribly impact the victim.
Read that all through very carefully before commenting. reach out to me in dms if you want to genuinely discuss any of this or tell me what isn’t right about it. If you just call me disgusting or belittle me you are no different from me.

I dont mean to be rude, but why are you so against Henry being George? in the audition tapes "Betty" that you admit is probably patty, is seen interacting with George the whole time, in his tape, he only interacts with her too, and in the promo shots Louis is always with Ella, so what would be your explanation for that? I know we will know everything in exactly one month but I always see you saying that and it's been bothering me, im just really curious, could you explain?
Hey there, anon! No worries about being rude at all, I’m more than happy to explain and clarify! <3
So, it’s not really a matter of me being “against” Henry being George- it’s simply a matter of me thinking that the evidence doesn’t fully support him being George. It’s like. I’m not *against* the idea that dragons exist and are secretly living underground in cool dragon cities- hell, I’d love that! But I don’t see the evidence to support said underground dragons, and the same applies for George being Henry.
So, I’ve talked in a bunch of posts about why I don’t think that George is Henry, but I’m going to summarize the main reasons right here for you:
1.) The Ages
This collider article talked about TFS leaks & the fact that Patty had romantic feelings for George:
Tumblr media
And that article describes both Patty and George as being at least 14 years old.
And when we look at the audition tapes, we can see that Patty is at least 15 years old, because she mentions that the confession booth has been her hiding place for the past 15 years:
Tumblr media
However, Henry Creel is canonically 12 years old:
Tumblr media
And even if you don’t think that the newspapers are reliable/somehow think that’s a production error, THIS is not a 15 year old boy- even his actor was 12 at the time:
Tumblr media
So, this means that in order for Henry to be George, they’re either a.) going to do a romance between a 15+ year old girl and a 12 year old boy, which would be like S1 Nancy dating S1 Dustin for context & I think that’s extremely unlikely or b.) they’re retconning Henry’s canon age in the play/ignoring canon, which makes absolutely no sense and is extremely unlikely because the play has been confirmed repeatedly to be canon:
Tumblr media
So, unless they REALLY pull some timeline weirdness with Henry’s age, there’s not really any possible way for him to be George AND for the play to be canon- unless they have a 15+ year old dating a 12 year old, which I really don’t think they’ll do.
2.) The Personality
George is absolutely nothing like Henry personality- wise. Based on what we see in the audition tapes, George is snarky and opinionated, whereas Henry, as a child, is shy and silent.
George is a loner, much like Henry, but that also fits with Allen Munson (who we’ll come back to later), and being a loner also applies to characters like Hopper, and even Bob- being a loner isn’t something unique to Henry. Hell, even being a “pale, moody, new kid loner,” like the description from that Collider article isn’t unique to Henry. That could apply to both Allen and Lonnie.
George snarks about Betty being “prom queen,” and dramatically tells her “that’s your cue”- you have to watch the audition tapes to see/hear what I mean, but the way he speaks and the way his lines are written is such a far cry from Henry- hell, Henry doesn’t even talk that way/his dialogue isnt written that way when he’s giving a dramatic monologue in the show in 1979- and Henry as a child is silent every time we see him and doesn’t have any of the same mannerisms as George.
3.) The “Powers”
Something that people love to cite as evidence that George is Henry is the idea that George has powers based on some of his scenes in the auditions. However, those scenes are actually great evidence that George isn’t Henry, because when you watch those scenes, the way George describes what’s going on is polar opposite to the way Henry describes his powers & the way we see Henry’s powers working.
George, for example, talks about hearing voices in his head telling him to do bad things/hurt people- something that Henry never mentions, not even during his 1979 monologue. George also seems to be afraid of his supposed powers, whereas Henry seems to see them as something natural/as a tool/as part of him realizing that it was other people who were broken, not him.
I actually think that the voices that George is hearing are the result of that weird radio broadcast that’s supposedly killing people that’s mentioned in TFS. And I think that his experience with Patty/seemingly seeing eachother in the void/teleporting/whatever that was is far more likely to be tied to Patty having powers, especially with all of Patty’s El parallels (the scenes where Patty talks about her mother), and with how frequently articles about TFS talk about how important Patty is going to be to the plot:
Tumblr media
So, again, it’s not a matter of “oh I really HATE the idea of Henry being George, so I’m going to pretend it’s not true even though it is,” it’s instead a matter of “if Henry is George, I’m fine with it, I’m just really not convinced that he Is George & am somewhat frustrated by people acting like it’s confirmed that he’s George when it’s not confirmed at all and when there’s multiple aspects of George that don’t align with Henry & contradict Henry’s canon lore such as the age stuff”
Also, I’ve never denied that Patty and Henry are going to have scenes together- I figured they’d have scenes together even before the audition tapes, because they have that parallel at the Crele house window vs the church window in the TFS animated teaser trailer! And Louis and Ella being together isn’t really something that I need to explain, because I’ve literally never denied that Henry and Patty are going to have scenes together & all of my analysis re: Henry and George and Patty has been done with the assumption that Henry and Patty are going to interact frequently regardless of who George is. Now, like I talked about in this post, regardless of whether Henry is George or not, I don’t think that Henry and Patty are going to be a romantic couple. My thing is that I simply don’t agree that it’s firm/clear-cut that Henry is George. Me not agreeing that Henry is George doesn’t mean that I think that Henry and Patty won’t interact- it simply means that I don’t think that the George that we saw in the leaked audition takes is Henry/I don’t think that George was the code name for Henry.
And to more specifically answer your question about the connection between George and Patty’s interacting mostly with eachother in the audition tapes vs Henry and Patty being put together in promo stuff:
First of all, the reason why Patty and George seem to “only” interact with eachother in the audition is because the scenes chosen for the audition happen to be with eachother- both of their auditions read the same two scenes, just different sides of it.
So, Patty could have 500 scenes with other characters and those two scenes could be the ONLY scenes she has with George in the whole play (I’m not saying that’s the truth, but just as a hyperbolic example), and we would have no idea because we’re only seeing the tiny tiny snippet scenes that were used for auditions.
Second of all, like I said earlier, Patty and Henry interacting frequently in the play is not news to me.
Like, I just don’t really see the firm link between the auditions and the promo stuff/I don’t see how that points to Henry being George. Patty and George interacting frequently and Patty and Henry interacting frequently doesn’t mean that Henry is George. It just means that Patty (as we know) is a core character who’s going to be interacting frequently with multiple characters.
Third of all, regardless of how often they put Patty and Henry together in promo stuff, and regardless of how often George and Patty interact in the audition tapes, that still doesn’t change all of the issues that don’t align with George being Henry (all of the stuff that I mentioned earlier), especially since the play has repeatedly been confirmed to be canon material & the Duffers have even been talking with the TFS team while writing S5 & making the TFS team change things so that everything aligns lore-wise:
Tumblr media
So, all of the evidence that points to Henry not being George isn’t something that can just be overlooked because it’s a separate play/they aren’t just taking creative liberties with ages etc because it’s all canon & they’re working hard to make sure that it all lines up lore-wise with the show. And lore-wise, Henry is 12, which doesn’t line up with Patty’s age (based on her comments in the audition about how long she’s been hiding in the confession booth throughout her life), and also doesn’t align with George talking about prom and prom queen etc.
Hopefully this answers your questions, anon! :DD
It’s not a matter of me not wanting Henry to be George- it’s simply a matter of me not believing that he is George. I’m far more inclined to believe that Allen Munson is George, especially since the auditions didn’t use codenames for characters who aren’t brand-new characters (such as Hopper, his audition didn’t have a codename), so it wouldn’t make sense for them to use a code name for Henry. But it WOULD make sense for them to use a code name for Allen Munson, because he’s technically a new character, just like Patty.
If I seem particularly annoyed about the whole thing/about Henry supposedly being George, it’s not actually because I despise the idea- I’m annoyed a.) because the evidence doesnt support it and b.) because people are acting like it’s confirmed canon that Henry is George & trying to dunk on me for being wrong about him not being George when the reality is that it’s not confirmed whatsoever. The casting announcements didn’t give us ANY new information about who George was- all the casting did was tell us that Henry was going to be in the play- something we already knew! None of the code names have been revealed. There’s nothing in the casting that proves that George is Henry, and yet, for some reason, people are acting like it’s confirmed, which is where i get frustrated. I’m not even frustrated that people disagree with me, just frustrated that they’re acting like it’s concrete confirmed canon when it’s absolutely not.
Anyway, thank you again, anon! :DD If I seemed annoyed with you at all, I’m not, that’s just how i talk/I’m slightly frustrated with Other People acting like it’s 100000% confirmed that Henry is George.

what's your opinion on the s3 goodbye scene where everyone is hugging each other? i see byler's goodbye gif'd a lot, but for some reason that scene always rang strangely with me. it feels a lot more like the actors than the characters, for everyone. jon and nancy feels genuine but not too sad, and we know the actors are a couple. max and el are smiling and hugging like girl besties, and yet, typically, girl besties would be the ones sobbing most. ofc max was hiding/processing her grief, and will isnt your 'typical' boy so his tears feel very in character. but the whole shot set up and blocking, the lack of continuity, the multiple byler hugs... it feels not quite like a montage, but not quite like a continuous scene. i feel like the duffers saved it to the end of shooting and just told everyone to go to town with their goodbyes, allowing for a little bleed of reality into fiction. it's not unheard of for filmmakers to do this, despite what some fans say about the strict lines between reality and fiction. i mean, whatever helps you get into character. if its cost effective to do a big group scene at the end of filming, have everyone together for the wrap, and also utilise the natural emotion of the end of filming, they'd likely do it.
i think two things felt off mainly for me, which was mike and el's hug (very intimate, heads close) didnt track with their previous awkward goodbye and felt more like finn and millie (this will be a hot take, i know, but tbf they WERE going through this wacky thing of portraying adolescent love with kisses on screen together, for the first time - some human bonding was naturally going to occur as a result). and secondly, it just didnt feel like will and mike hugging to me either. will looked devastated, yeah, and mike was hiding, turning away... but i dont know. something felt off. and how they edited that whole finale, with the goodbyes -> the letter and seeing everyone leave again -> heroes? it was like the timeline was all messed up. odd.
I do tend to feel like it was a very improved sort of scene maybe? Reality bleed. Directed, but perhaps they saved it for the end of the filming wrap that season, perhaps also because it was the last use of that set? Get the most impact out of an emotional moment - didn't the house used for the Byers family get sold at the end of the season in reality as well? Unsure if that's true, I feel like I make up half of this stuff in my head because there's so much to keep straight. And I'm so bad at being - haha, anyway.
The Mike / El hug was odd, but it did feel odd in a different way than maybe you're describing. It felt the same to me as the kiss, after rewatching it again. El seems to be the one to force his head over to do the forehead thing. Mike wasn't really naturally meeting her there? It's interesting for sure. The awkward kiss where Mike didn't react and then here as well, El has to physically guide him to be a part of this additional intimacy. That was my read once I started looking for the hints. It you watch it again, I replayed those few seconds a couple times and it almost looks like El is trying to go in for another kiss and Mike actively resists it 👀 Worth a revisit. My Byler goggles are super-glued to my damn face, but still. It's an interesting interaction...

5. what is your muse's ideal first date?
12. does your muse get flustered easily? how would they typically react to compliments from someone they are interested in/dating?
20. how does your muse feel about public displays of affection? would they engage in them?
22. does your muse tend to take on a more dominant or submissive role in the relationship, or does it vary based on circumstance?
28. would it bother your muse if they had differing interests from their partner(s), or would they delight in it?
31. does your muse develop crushes easily? would they be open about it to a friend or keep it to themselves?
romance + relationship headcanons
5. i actually have eddie's first date planned down so well LOL. the back seats of his van are taken out so the back is like a lil chill zone. so he likes to get good takeout, park his van somewhere with a nice view, or right at the waters edge of a lake, and sit in the back with the doors open
12. i dont think he gets any more flustered than the average person, but when he gets flustered he gets flustered. like steve's reaction to "big boy" speechless flustered.
20. he definitely likes the idea of it, but would be nervous to actually do any pda bceause of the homophobia he's experienced. even if he's in a relationship with a woman. but luckily for him hes naturally very touchy, so he knows he can get away with a lot before people notice its pda
22. it definitely varies depending on the person he's with. with characters like chrissy or steve he's definitely the more dominant one. but with someone like nancy or heather he would be more submissive. he has his "baseline" level of dominance, it just matters where his partner lands in relation to that.
28. it definitely would not bother him!!!! as long as they have respect for his interests, and are open minded to a certain extent at trying them, he'll keep that same energy.
31. i would say its canon he falls extremely easily/quickly. he was swooning over chrissy halfway through the conversation, and if they werent in so much danger you cant tell me he wouldnt have tried to give steve a lil smooch in the upside down. i think that when he has a crush he would tell literally all of his friends, except wayne. rip to corroded coffin because half of every band practice is listening to eddie yearn. but i also think if wayne ever noticed + brought it up himself eddie would spill all the beans.

Something abt being on the aro-spectrum that I havent seen a lot is talk about feelings of jealousy.
I am a jealous person, and I'm only figuring that out as an adult. I was jealous as a kid, too, but I never thought of it in a way besides platonic. Eventually I stopped having best friends so I stopped being as jealous and bitter when my friends hung out with other people more than me.
Even though I knew I had a tendency to get jealous of others when I had a "best friendship," I never considered myself fo be jealous in a romantic context. Any time anyone would get angry when their partners talked to someone, especially straight couples who's members talked to the opposite gender, I would get confused. Like, you're officially in a relationship, right? Why would your partner agree to that if they wanted to be with some other person?
But as I got older, I understood more. I had one "crush" in my highschool years, and when he flirted with or dated other people I HATED MY LIFE it felt so gross. I always felt like I needed to change, or that I wasnt as desirable, and I needed to try harder. He did end up liking me back, but nothing ever came of it. The euphoria of him liking me back lasted maybe a night, and then it was gone. And it left a pit in my stomach. The worst feeling in the world, feeling disgust toward a thing that had made me feel alive for the first time in my life.
But, nonetheless, in all that drama I discovered that I WOULD probably get jealous if I had a partner, just because of how much I overthink. And i think that's where i sort of differ from a lot of arospec people? See, i dont want a romantic relationship necessarily. I dont need to do all the sappy shit like buying flowers and calling each other babe, or even going on dates really. But I do want something adjacent to that. I dont hate the idea of touching, even though I sort of have a phobia to that, but I DO hate it if I think about it romantically. I love the idea of holding hands in this sort of nostalgic way, like how I used to with my parents when I was a kid. I dont mind the idea of someone playing with my hair the way people used to when it was long, like they admired it so much they had to run their fingers through it. Hugging doesnt sound so bad when it's done in that protective, grounded way. Like hugging someone after a long day, or early in the morning. Just standing there like that. Even kissing sounds okay sometimes, if I dont think about it too hard. I'm sure it feels good. I'm sure being that close, that intimate with someone, would make me feel good. A combination of being comfortable and still feeling that rush of emotion. That sounds like a dream. That sounds fake. It makes me sad to think I may never experience that.
But then, I can think about the same things in a romantic way and I immediately want to turn and run. Holding hands in the way couples hold hands is so weird. I've never held a boys hand before. When I hold my friends hands, it feels awkward. I can hold my father's hand, I guess, but his hands are so calloused that they barely feel like hands. When I hold my father's hand now, I feel almost nothing at all. Thinking of someone playing with my hair like, say, a husband would do for his wife, or vice versa, or wife for wife or husband for husband or partner for partner, any combination-- it feels wrong. It's too sweet. Like, sickly sweet. The way they smile up at each other. It just feels so empty. Like whatever they're feeling just doesnt exist for me. Theres a void there, I think, where that feeling is supposed to be in my head. Hugs and kisses dont feel right from the couples in the movies. I much prefer the ones between close friends that I WANT to be the main couple, i guess. Like, take stranger things for an example. I love steve and eddie, and if they hugged, even platonically, I think I'd lose my shit. I wouldnt care much for a romantic hug between steve and nancy, but I dont really feel much for the platonic ones between steve and robin either. So, for some reason I like this weird in between? But that's not the point. Back to the matter at hand.
All that stuff I mentioned before, about how I can like all this stuff in a weird, alterous way as opposed to platonic or romantic or familial, one thing stays constant: I dont want whoever's doing it to do the same with other people. I DO want to be Their Person, and I want them to be Mine. Not in a possessive way, that's weird, but yknow. I want to want to be around them. I want them to want to be around me, too. And I want to like each other the most.
Lots of aromantic people talk about how they dont understand why friendships arent held to the same standard as romantic relationships, and trust me, I have been there, but I definitely am not exempt from that sort of "ranking." I have people that claim we are best friends, or really close, but I just dont bond with them the same way they do to me. It doesnt click. I like them platonically, I like to be around them, but I'm not attracted to them. Not like I was to my "crush" in high school, or like I am to all the pretty boy characters i think about in my head, or even my best friends from elementary school. Nothing my friends and I do is special to us. We arent exclusive to each other. And to some people, that doesnt matter one bit, but not me. I guess I'm selfish, but man, I wanna be someone's favorite. I want someone to like me the most. Even though I dont know how to kiss and might not even want to, and my personalities not that big, and sometimes I dont have much to say at all, and sometimes more than anything I just need someone to make me feel like I'm not floating through life without making a connection at all.
But that's such a big job. I worry I'm not worth the work. I'm not sure I would be able to work that much for someone else, so it wouldn't be fair. It would be so imbalanced, like I was taking advantage of them or something. I can't do that.
Nonetheless, the best analogy I can think of is beds. Not having sex in beds, just literally sleeping in them. Some aro people want their own bed in their own house. Some want to share a house AND a bed, with one person or with a whole group. But me? I'd like to live with friends AND my person. The best friend, or the partner, or whatever they are to me. And I want my own bed, but if I ever have any troubles sleeping, or they do, I want each others rooms to be the first we go to. I want to love someone so much that I choose them to ground me every time. How amazing would that be? To not have each other, but still be connected. To have some in between, "other" sort of love that does is not just built on trust, but IS trust. Trust that you are wanted, you are welcome, and you are special. Being something more than friends, more than lovers. Helping each other be whole on their own. Knowing they love you not because you're friends, not because you're partners, not because you're family, not because of anything. They just do.
I do want love. I really, really do. I want love the way I love the ocean, and the way I love music. I want to be loved that way. The attraction to the beach that humans have had for centuries. The tendency to make tunes out of nothing, to hum just to hear the sounds. Even if the ocean is dangerous. Even if the song is off-key. I want love that is instinctual, that is unexplainable. I want love that has no reason. No words to explain it. I want the love that existed before we had the word for it. Before there were friends and lovers, there were just companions. Two people who chose each other. And they may have not been able to speak the word love, but I'm sure it was stronger than what we have now. I'm sure, if you sit still, you can still hear it.

The reason why I always thought Will was "sweetie pie" and that the Wheelers don't know about El is because wouldn't they want to meet his girlfriend at least once before letting him fly across the country to stay with her for a week at FOURTEEN? Karen listened to the phone call but they've never talked about her outside of that "our son with a girl?" scene. That's just how I took that scene lol but like you I also wouldn't be mad if Ted really did mean El.
you’d think his parents would at least want to meet the girl their son is dating right? or at least talk about her once? ask mike about her? ask nancy about her? dustin? max? lucas? anyone? it’s literally never brought up, plus, i find it super weird his sweetiepie is in california along with the byers? what’s the story to that? it makes no sense. 🤷‍♀️
also i know ppl like to rag on ted but as much as he’s a typical 80s republican man, i mean i need y’all to REALLY look at ted. he’s not particularly opinionated tbh, he likes the government, but that’s sort of all we get. he’s not a great parent but he’s not horrible either. i find it hard to believe he’s someone that would care if mike was gay or disown him for it, especially since karen DEFINITELY doesn’t strike me as homophobic either. she’s not the best parent either but she definitely would love her kids no matter what.
in my head, it seems like ted has the mindset of a parent who just already suspects their kid is gay, he’s already been shown to say passive comments about it, i think ppl really need to understand we’re given dialogue about the homophobia will has faced and how we see mike face that bullying directed at will and we’re allowed to theorize that those things could imply ppl have already been making fun of mike and will together already and ted probably does too. which i also think could be somewhat subverting the trope of “boy and girl are just friends but ppl think they like each other/tease them about dating and they actually do end up liking each other even when they insist they dont” but make it gay
anyways yeah, i just overall don’t understand thinking the sweetiepie comment was about el/jane/mikes mysterious california gf

soooo <3 its only fair we see steve’s pov of saving bug during the demogorgon fight ,, right? :) xoxo
siiiigh i guess (because i love u n him). in this blurb we answer: why DID steve come back after nancy kicked him out ??
enjoy <3
"steve, you need to leave. right now." nancy has never looked at steve like this before, with such annoyance and anger. he doesnt know what the fuck is happening but he had just saved your life.
he, steve harrington, just bridal carried y/n henderson to safety after a skinned skeleton looking piece of shit almost killed you.
now nancy is yelling at him again.
and all steve can do is look towards you for help. you have to say something, explain what any of this even means. steve is surrounded by nancy and jonathan, two people who have hurt him so deeply, and yet youre standing right in front of him and not saying a single thing.
you, the only person who hasnt hurt steve, who seems to understand him and expect so much more from him than anyone ever has in his life.
if you told steve to stay, he would.
at least then he'd have a sense of belonging. if you told steve everything will be okay, he'd have no reason not to believe you. he knows you; youd stay behind and fight and defend those you love and steve feels like a fucking coward as his hands shake while nancy berates him.
"y/n, please..." steve just needs one glance from you, a nod, anything.
but you dont say a thing.
steve groans. "fuck it!"
he runs out the door.
he thinks maybe if he drives fast enough, he can go to the police and bring them back here to jonathans. he cant just leave you behind, steve knows this, but what else is he supposed to do? you hadnt wanted him there, neither had nancy, and jonathan hates him.
hes not needed here. hes never been a fighter, anyways.
right as steve has unlocked his car door, the lights inside jonathans house start flickering again. the hair on his arms stand up. he knows. its back again.
and youre stuck in there with it.
three things cross through steves mind at once.
one, youre in danger.
two, you told steve he wasnt a bad person.
and three, hes so fucking tired of running.
so he does what any sane sixteen year old boy would do.
steve runs back inside to save you.
he told you earlier. he just wants to help. thats all hes ever wanted to do, and fuck. if he doesnt help you now, save you when you really need him, then steve is the coward his father has always told him he was.
jonathans bat is scattered across the floor when steve runs back inside. he grabs it as he assesses the situation. he cant believe hes doing this.
youre on the ground and steves heart stops for a moment, but when he sees you shaking jonathans shoulders, who is also sprawled on the ground, he calms down.
then he hears the gunshots and finally notices that nancy is frantically shooting at the monster and the bullets are doing absolutely nothing. she needs help, but you and jonathan are too far away.
steve stumbles a bit. for a second, he doesnt know who to run to. theres blood on your forehead and your ankle is bent at an angle that makes steve feel nauseous to look at, but jonathan has a hand wrapped around your waist while nancy is defenseless against the monster.
flicking the bat around his wrist, steve knows what he has to do.
he swings, distracting the monster long enough to spare nancy some time.
and you watch.
