- is actually b!steve’s extra daughter. me and @rustedhearts have talked about this at length, but violet has a lot of anger and buzzy energy and b!steve takes her under his wing and helps her navigate it (she throws a mean punch). they just be understanding each other!

- the twins grow up calling steve ‘Big Steve’

- really likes doing crafts with her mom when she’s little, likes working on something that offers and outcome/has a finish.

- good at math

- starts playing the bass because eddie kept trying to get her to play guitar and she felt like being defiant — is weirdly a genius at the bass.

- brings home a boy when she’s seventeen who has tattoos and wears a leather jacket and smokes camels. when he leaves after dinner eddie just looks at her and goes, “no.”

- likes cooking with her dad when she’s older. they normally make thanksgiving dinner together when they host.

van hcs:

- very gifted artist, started drawing really young and was producing some wild work as young as twelve. neither parent knew where that came from. wayne asks for a painting every christmas and birthday, he has run out of wall space at this point but he still wants more.

- both twins are spoiled rotten by wayne.

- started playing guitar and was really good at it but not passionate about it. asked eddie when he was eleven if he could learn to play the drums instead. van cried for two days before asking because he was afraid he was going to hurt his dads feelings. (Eddie got Gareth to start lessons with him within the hour, he was so excited.)

SO GLAD ME (((AND A FRIEND OF MINE WHO DOESN'T HAVE TUMBLR TO MY KNOWLADGE))) ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES LEFT IN THIS FANDOM AND I'M SO GLAD MOST OF US AGREE ON THINGS <3 so yeah how bout this Stitchpunk and Human!reader hcs So for whatever reason, it's now night time and it's time to wind down and go to bed. But tbh, it feels like a whole ass sleep over. *Ya'll started the night trying to wind down, but it was hard considering all the things you guys did that day. Good or bad, it was fresh in your minds and kept you wide awake. *at around eight pm, you where starting to try and wind down, but this was when 5 and 9 started telling dumb jokes. Not wanting you to feel left out, they wrote a few out for you and then the twins started acting things out, making you laugh even more! *then 1 came out and told ya'll to quiet down.... *....but uh......WHY ARE THINGS SO FUNNY WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LAUGHING??!?!?? *you all looked at each other as soon as he left the room and the ROAR OF LAUGHTER (mostly from you because, again, their voices are too high for people to hear) *nine pm rolled around, you all eventually wound down for a bit. Everyone started sharing stories. The twins projected a few pictures for you so you knew what the fuck was going on. *and that got you guys hyped, especially that story about that one time 6 got himself stuck in a jar and accidentally rolled down a hill... *he did look a bit embarrassed when that one came up...but he laughed *next thing you knew, ten pm rolled around, but nobody wanted to sleep. Instead, you wandered outside. NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG, OUTSIDE ON THAT PLANET IS DANGEROUS but you didn't stray far from the church and payed attention to your surroundings....while goofing off, of course. *you know what, it was prob. a good thing that you where outside. 1 didn't hear you guys. *then you heard some scary noises and came back inside *at eleven pm, you where all chill and laying down, just ready to go to bed....... *and then you all started thinking of funny jokes and any remnant of drowsiness was rendered non-existent *this was also the night you realized 2 is a VERy heavy sleeper- *throughout the night, you all continued to mess around, try and fail to hold back laugher, and pull small pranks on each other until finally you all passed out around dusk *that night (between midnight and when ya'll fell asleep) was mostly a blur, but it was also hilarious. *despite the language barrier (well, actually it's more like a hearing barrier???), ya'll bonded a lot and it was very sweet <3

I honestly don't know why I decided to scroll through the Mike hate tag

I knew it would piss me off

I was just curious as to what they were saying about my boy

But, you know, it's all dumb shit

Saw a lot of people encouraging Jonathan to literally beat up Mike in season 5

Like okay, good to know you want Jon to go to jail and Will and Nancy and pretty much everybody to be absolutely pissed at him

I don't wanna rant too much but,,,

What's the point of so many byler shippers hating on Mike??? Like, "Oh my gosh, Mike is a complete oblivious asshole, he should go die in a hole but I really hope him and Will finally get together next season, HAHA" like what??? How does that make any sense to anybody??

Also a lot of people being like, "Oh, Mike and El are gonna breakup and then El's gonna see the "real" Mike for the first time because she no longer has him on a pedestal and she's gonna see how badly he treats Will and then she's gonna be totally pissed at him and hate him so much, lmao" like are you guys serious???

OH and some of my favorites are the ones saying that in season 5, they want literally everyone (yes, everyone. Even Joyce and Nancy and Will and El. Literally the entire main cast) to turn against Mike because they all "realize he's a major asshole who does and says nothing right and treats them all like shit" so therefore he apparently deserves no love from anyone ever

Oh, and don't even get me started on the amount of people claiming they want season 2 Mike back because "he was the best" and "he was the happiest" and "he treated everyone way better" and "he was so much nicer to Will", etc., etc.

If I see one more person claiming that season 2 was Mike's best/happiest season, I will not apologize for my resulting actions

So, anyways, that's the end of my little rant. In conclusion, I should really stop peeking at the Mike hate tags because they always do nothing but piss me off, so yeah, there's that

Okay but

In st5, I NEED a scene between Mike and El where she's responding to his love confession speech and telling him that she does need him and want him and that she always will and that she loves him for exactly who he is, too

I mean, even if it's a flashback or it shows them talking and Mike says something kinda self-deprecating about his and El's relationship to which in response, El's like, "Remember what I told you in the van?" And Mike's just like, "...yeah, but I'm just saying-" and El's just like, "No, Mike. I mean it. I. Need. You. I promise. Okay?"

Like seriously, I need that acknowledgment, it's necessary, man. For the sake of Mike's sanity and self-worth, HE needs it

I mean, honestly, chances are that it DID happen, considering they spent 2 whole days cuddled up in the van together, but still, I want to see it!!! Please!!!

Okay, but

Why in hell are there so many people that continuously claim that El needs to be single in order to be independent and become the person she's meant to be? Single and independent are not synonyms. Independent does not mean alone. That's not how it works. They're not interchangeable. You don't need one in order to have the other.

No matter who you do and don't ship, my point still stands. There's so many people that have said it. And among those people, there's so many that claim she needs to be single in order to be herself, to be independent, and use that as their excuse for thinking El and Mike need to breakup, but then go and say that Mike and Will can get together afterwards. Or that El and Max can get together afterwards. If someone needs to be single in order to be independent, does that make everyone else who is in a relationship dependent? Not their own person? Hell no.

And I've also seen so many people claim that El takes after Mike. That Mike is always pushing his likes and interests on habits onto El. That he doesn't let her be her own person and that's what makes their relationship so "bad". That's what makes them have so many issues. Especially in season 3. But no, it's the opposite. They had so many issues in season 3 because El is independent. Because they are two different people. If El wasn't her own independent person, she wouldn't of gone to Max. She wouldn't of followed Max's lead and broken up with Mike. She wouldn't of gone on this whole journey of discovering new parts of herself and as well as exploring all of her relationships with people and then also returning to her relationship with Mike of her own free will and choice if she was not an independent person. If El was solely dependent on Mike and her personality and existence was based on Mike's specifically without her making any of her own choices, she would never have broken up with him in the first place. And in season 4, she wouldn't of argued with him so much.

Mike and El have their issues because they are both 2 different, very independent people who are also both very much teenagers and very much human. But everytime they've had an issue, they've worked through it, just like two people who are in a relationship and want to stay in that relationship do. Some people say that at the end of season 4, they're at their weakest point in their relationship. But no, it's the opposite, they're actually at their strongest. Why would it show them cuddled up together in the hospital while visiting Max if they were still having issues? It's been made plenty clear that if El is mad at Mike, she doesn't want to be around him, so she would definitely not be leaning against his shoulder and holding onto him if she was still upset with him, no matter what was going on around them at the time.

So I've said it before, I'm saying it now, and I will continue to say it in the future. Mike and El are both independent people, even while together. El does not need to breakup with Mike in order to be her own person or to be independent. That is not how it works. Mike and El can both be their own person while also being together. They both are their own person while being together. Just because that person isn't who you personally want them to be, doesn't mean that they aren't their own person or that they need to change some part of them or their life in order for things to be "solved". And El especially does not have to have some "I don't need a man" mentality and lifestyle in order to be her own, usual, badass and awesome self. She's already badass and independent and awesome and incredible and intelligent and unique whether she's in a relationship with Mike or not. Her relationship status does not decide her personality and character and it never has and it never will.

hey there! can I request hcs for the tweels, Malleus, Cater and Rook with a suuuuuuper touch starved s/o? they’re anxious about giving affection cause they aren’t used to it, but they basically melt when getting it. tysm!

Hey anon did you mean me??? Because this is me XD also Floyd, Mal, Cater AND Rook in the same post? You’re spoiling me!

• Jade’s patient and quite the gentleman with you. He usually lets you step forward first, but he notices just how shy you are trying to give affection. Intially he thinks maybe you’re just getting used to it, but he picks you on how you react when he reaches out first and asks you about it. When you tell him, Jade tells you not to worry.

• From then on he reaches out to you more often and makes sure to be more physically affectionate with you. Being touch starved does carry some negative symptoms- Jade would make quite sure to research it so he knows this- and he wouldn’t want his beloved partner experiencing that after all. He’s not as touchy as his twin, but Jade is more refined when it comes to his approach.

• Generally Jade does this in subtle ways, both to prevent you from getting too overwhelmed and stop you from ending up too embarrassed in public. He’ll hold your hand, brush a bit of hair behind your ear, kiss your cheek, keep a hand on your waist as he walks around with you- classy things, but it still keeps you close. He saves things like hugs or proper kisses for when you’re alone.

• Despite being a gentleman, Jade’s also an absolutely massive tease so when he sees you blush or melt into his touch, you’re not getting away from that without your blush darkening by two shades. He says things like “Oya oya, if you wanted affection that badly you need only ask, my dear.” while caressing your cheek or just after a kiss. Always with a smirk on his face that’s practically engineered to fluster you more. This is a little brutal when in private, since there’s no image he has to worry about, but you won’t escape it fully even in public. He can’t help the fact that your flustered face is simply too cute to resist, after all.

• Floyd is literally your ideal man if you’re touch starved. He absolutely loves being affectionate with you, from hugs to kisses he’s all for it! You’re his dearest shrimpy, so if you tell him about this then he’s going to amp the affection up to eleven- if you’re comfortable of course. But Floyd is a very touchy boyfriend even normally, so this is perfect for him.

• He’s not particularly bothered by the fact that you’re nervous to give affection yourself. Honestly, in a way, it makes him really happy! Whenever you’re able to gain the confidence to be affectionate with him first, no matter what mood he was in before, Floyd brightens up immediately. He returns it right away, even if it’s just holding his hand. He’ll have a big grin on his face and swing your arms back and forth, if you hug him he’ll spin you around… basically he’s trying to show you there’s no need to be nervous!

• Floyd thinks it’s absolutely adorable how you basically melt into a puddle whenever he’s affectionate with you. He’ll tease you about it too, saying things like “aw, did shrimpy miss me?” if he just arrived and similar phrases. If he ever upsets you though, don’t worry, he’ll always make it up to you. I hope you like getting attacked with kisses, because that’s one of he ways he does so. Floyd is also very shameless, so this will happen in public. It’s not even intentional all the time, he’s just an affectionate eel who adores you, so he’ll end up flustered you for sure- even if by accident- and roll with it because you’re just precious.

• Floyd will also tease you just in order to make you blush, drifting a bit close to you before a kiss, some touches lingering a bit longer, surprising you every now and then. He likes watching your face go red, and then seeing you sink into his touch afterwards. He thinks that you‘re just the cutest human in the world, so he can’t resist the urge to tease you a bit.

• Malleus is also touch-starved, he gets you. Not that he exactly knows what that means, but once you explain it he very much understands- and plans to ask Lilia more about it later. People rarely ever approach him, so it’s honestly no wonder that he understands the feeling. Malleus doesn’t really know how to navigate this whole thing, but he does his best for both your sakes.

• It’ll be a slow process for you both, likely the two of your gradually warming up to one another more and more over time. But Malleus loves being close to you; he loves the feeling of your hand in his, of having you in his arms. Due to that, he does his best to reach out to you more. Malleus sticks to holding your hand at first, especially because it’s such an easy, casual gesture to start off with. He doesn’t mind that you tend to be nervous about giving affection, and just makes sure you know that he’s always happy to recieve any attention from you. You are genuinely Malleus’ entire world, so nothing is too much to ask of him- even this.

• The second that Lilia informs him that being touch starved can carry negative consequences, be gets more serious about being more openly affectionate- particularly in private. You’ll notice him holding you more, kissing the top of your head, etc. He won’t mention that Lilia warned him about the negative effect it can have on you if you ask- but it’s pretty clear that he’s stepping up to make sure you’re emotionally healthy.

• Finds the way that you melt when recieving physical affection very cute. He won’t say it out loud, but it genuinely melts his heart seeing you so happy to accept his love. As someone so used to having others be intimidated by him, seeing you lean into his touch or hold him a bit tighter makes Malleus’ heart flutter. He’s always glowing afterwards, and some say he even seems a bit ‘less scary’ after because it’s hard to be intimidated by somebody who looks so joyful.

• Cater’s got you covered! Well, he thinks he does at first at least. One of his main ways of showing affection is to take pictures of you, and while he holds you hand pretty much 24/7 it’s not enough to help with the whole touch starved thing. You or someone else will have to point out that, while sweet, pictures don’t really help when it’s physical affection that you’ve been lacking long enough to cause this.

• Once it is pointed out, though, Cater goes out of his way to be extra affectionate- just right on top of the issue. He’s got an arm around your shoulders, greets you with hugs, everything! He’ll also spend time time researching online how to grapple with being touch starved and what it means for you. He’s gotta pay extra attention and do this right!

• If he’s busy, it’s Split Card to the rescue. Cater isn’t afraid to use his clones if you’re okay with it, giving you a few to snuggle whenever he has to do something. It doesn’t matter how many, he’s happy to push his magic as far as it’ll go so that you have tons of love! When he gets back though, then he switches back to just him, so that the real Cater has some time with you. But, in short, you don’t have to worry about not getting enough attention from him. Cater finds a way.

• Thinks the way that you lean into his touch is adorable, and definitely sneaks a few pictures whenever he can. He also has to physically resist the urge to take an impromptu selfie whenever your face goes red when you’re the one giving affection. It’s the kind of thing he wants to carry with him forever, and in truth, one such moment is probably set as his phone lock screen. In general, Cater does his best to up the physical affection for your sake- but din’g be surprised when his phone’s memory is eaten whole by the mountain of photographs he takes of you. He can’t help it, it’s how he shows he cares more than anything else.

• Oh, you poor dear, how has such a lovely creature such as yourself not been showered in the love you deserve!? Rook is more than happy to provide you all the affection you need and then some. By nature, Rook is a very loving boyfriend in all aspects, so he’s a good match for someone who’s starving for affection. While he does like keeping his private life private, he’s not afraid to let everyone know he loves you and this only emboldens him.

• Rook sees you as the most beautiful person alive, so often Rook’s physical affection is mixed in with sweet poetry and compliments. He’s a bit more subtle in public, sticking a bit closer to words over actions, but it’s namely because Rook doesn’t like anybody but you into his private life and such ‘acts of love’ are more part of that to him. But don’t worry- he’s still looking out for you and makes sure that you’re getting plenty of love. Not only because he firmly believes that you deserve it- and that frankly it’s a crime people haven’t been more affectionate with you- but because he doesn’t want you facing the negative side effects of being touch starved.

• Kisses on your cheek or back of your hand, quick pecks on the lips, hugs, holding your hand- all ways that Rook likes to stay close to you. He saves passionate kisses, cuddles, etc for when it’s just the two of you. The second you’re both alone, expect Rook to hold on and not let go of you unless he absolutely must. His dearest raison d’être has been robbed of this for too long, so he’s making up for it tenfold.

• Don’t worry about being nervous to reach out to Rook. Honestly, he finds it very endearing, and when you do it’s happily paid back to you. He’ll be happy if you start to break out of that shell a bit too, of course, but there’s something about the blush on your face when you slowly interlace your fingers with his or press a gentle kiss to his cheek just warms his heart. It’s even cuter how you melt right into his touch when he comes to you first- You’re too cute for your own good!

looking nervously for you in the stands during warmups just to make sure you’re there and playing so hard after he spots you that he breaks his personal best for service aces in one game. he actually turns around at one point in the game to look you in the eye, winking as if to say “this one’s for you.” (you blush and hope he didn’t see it. he did!)

raising up one eyebrow in class when you meet his gaze and mouthing “wanna get out of here?” just to get you flustered, except when you mouth back “sure, my dorm?” with the same mischief in your eyes, a bright red blush blooms over his cheeks–– and he suddenly finds it very hard to focus, the only thing on his mind being you and him… in your dorm…

So... the Potters helped save Sirius after Remus bailed him out, they saw Remus and Sirius get married then Lily, Regie, and James get married, they meet their first-born grandkids; Magnolia, Hermione, Harry, and Cyprus (oc's and Hermione will be explained when I post more one-shots or later when I post the fanfic)... before dying.

Sirius has two other siblings besides just Regulus (and because Cygnus sucks at being a father... Narcissa, Bellatrix, and Andromeda became their sisters... the only nice thing Walburga did. (Pandora Lovegood was Narcissa's twin)

Remus was a mommy's boy because his father blamed himself for everything (when Hope got sick, Lyall grew a pair and decided to try and salvage what little relationship he had left with him)

Peter's mother was a single mom working in the bakery above their basement home.

James was a rambunctious child and his elderly parents could not keep up with him.

The four of them became best friends due to loneliness, chemistry, and similar "traumas" - James took in the three neglected unloved kids and Remus ended up accidentally starting a zoo in fourth year.

(Remus and Sirius had their first kiss at thirteen, don't tell me otherwise... he cherished and loved Remus since he was eleven and finally asked him out when they were fourteen... just a few months shy of becoming animagi for him... realizing his feelings when he frolicked as a wolf-dog with his best friend who happened to also be a wolf... he may have been a dick and might have saw the wolf as something he could fix and cure, but he got over it... he was just a teen after all)

And yeah, Sirius may have almost destroyed their relationship by letting slip about Remus' secret not knowing Snape walked by the library... he quickly realized his mistake because of Euphemia and did his best to make up with them. Hint: it something to do with his family. Hint: they were being dumb teenagers and we all say dumb stupid shit when we are young... we do stupid shit when we are young...

But no one is as lucky as the Marauders were to be able to love each other again after all the shit they put each other through... they lived through a WAR for Merlin's sake! You might have accidentally put your friends through danger too. I am sure there was something you wished you could take away from a friend or a loved one but couldn't, got stuck in your head about it, and didn't realize it until someone slapped you over the head for it.

Moving on...

The Marauders knew about Peter, everyone has a different story to "the prank", Peter is in Azkaban, mostly everyone was gay, Minnie and Poppy were like second moms to everyone, everyone lived, Remus and Lyall still had a sucky relationship but it got better and he went to his dad for EVERYTHING...

We may not agree on everything, we all have different HC's and AU's... but some things we agree on are; JK is not the greatest and Umbridge is worse than Voldemort (even though Tom is pretty fucking nasty as well), and Walburga Black was a bitch.

In other words... I am also slightly saying fuck the timeline and canon because I too, suck at math. (And also the books do not make a whole lot of sense... but I am canon compliant in some ways and you do you if you love canon... that's cool! I got into Harry Potter and Marauders through Pinterest and fanfictions so I already fucked it up for myself... don't come for me!)

I realised recently that I never actually collated all the ideas I had about my Zutara kids so here, have some steambabies! Idk I just really like the idea of Katara and Zuko having a big family after all they’ve lost when they were young, and as an only child, I guess I kind of romanticise the idea of having siblings. 

TW: I hc that Katara would have had a miscarriage, so if that is a trigger for you then maybe don’t read on.

Their firstborn is a boy who they name Kai after Kya. His full name is Kaito but nobody who knows him ever calls him that, not even when he’s in trouble. I’m not going to go into too much context about like the pregnancy bc you can already find that stuff here. He turns out very much like Zuko physically - tall, golden irises, straight black hair, narrow angular face - but he has mixed tawny skin and his eyes are shaped round and wide like Katara. He’s born on the last day of summer in 109 AG, so because of superstition that firebenders are born in peak summer, there’s some uncertainty about what he’ll bend - if at all - but then when he’s three and a half, he makes a flame. Iroh trains him to firebend until he’s about 16, then he goes off to the Sun Warriors for a year to finish off, and he ends up a very spiritual firebender. Kai is like the dream first child - the softest boy ever to live - and when Katara and Zuko go on to have more children, he’s a really great big brother, like wholeheartedly adores his little sibs even if they drive him completely nuts about 95% of the time. He’s quite a conflicted and confused kid growing up. He’s never quite sure of what he wants in life but finally, when he’s 17, he decides that he realises that he doesn’t want to be Fire Lord and passes along the heir status to his sister. After that he joins the Sun Warriors and eventually marries the chief’s daughter, Himari, and they have two firebender girls, Aiko and Sol. 

Izumi arrives not long after her brother in 110 AG. Katara and Zuko planned to wait but it ends up that there’s barely a year between Kai and Izumi and it comes as an extra shock as Katara didn’t figure out she was pregnant again till like 18 weeks in. Katara goes into labour early at 35 weeks and Izumi is born really small - she never completely catches up either and it’s hilarious because after successive generations of tall male Fire Lords, they get Izumi who’s barely 5 feet - but she’s otherwise fine. She’s physically a mish-mash so overall she resembles nobody especially - Katara’s hair, complexion and big round eyes, Zuko’s irises, Azula’s heart-shaped face and highly arched brow line, Hakoda’s facial features. The superstition about summer births for firebenders peters out real quick when Izumi, born in the autumn, bends blue fire at two and a half and, taught by Jeong Jeong, she grows into a prodigal master. When she’s young, Izumi is the polar opposite of her brother - feisty, stubborn, determined and whip smart - and she’s a heathen teenager but by about 15 she mellows and matures, and part of Kai’s reasoning for abdicating is that Izumi seems a better fit for Fire Lord. Izumi was always kinda apathetic to kids but at 19, she accidentally gets pregnant and has her son, Kazuo, then her daughter, Kira, eleven years later. Izumi becomes Fire Lord at 37 but she only rules for about 14 years before retiring. Since she had Kaz so young, if she stayed on the throne much longer, Kaz would also be an older man when it came time for him to inherit, so she decides to step aside and Kaz is coronated just after his 33rd birthday. 

(Kazuo takes after his Gran Gran in more ways than just his blue eyes; he’s a waterbender so Kaz is the first waterbender Fire Lord)

After a break, Katara and Zuko decide to try for a third addition and Katara gives birth - in the Southern Water Tribe, for the first time - to Bashira, four years after Izumi. Shira looks probably the most like Zuko out of all the children, even more than her elder brother does. They share the same tall and lean physique, the same long black hair, Shira is mixed but still the palest of all the steambabies and their faces are practically identical. They’re characteristically very similar, too - serious, intense and reserved. The only differences is that her hair is curly, her eyes are blue and finally, Katara gets her waterbending child. Both of them suspected that Shira was going to be a waterbender even at the early stages of the pregnancy, but it’s still super exciting when Shira tosses a wave at her elder siblings when she’s two. Katara is teaching her as soon as she possibly can but over time some tension develops between them when Shira turns out to be quite different from her mom in terms of natural bending style. Shira is very fight-oriented, she learns dao swords from Zuko and never shows as much of an interest in the healing arts, but when things blow up and eventually Shira is able to explain that she wants to be able fight like her mom did during the war, things straighten out and Katara guides Shira all the way through to mastery. She eventually moves to the South in her late teens to lead the tribe’s warriors. There, she has three children - waterbender twins Kenzo and Kenji, then a daughter named Kanna who’s a firebender like Grandpa - but the marriage to their father doesn’t last and in her 50s, she ends up in a relationship with Aang and Toph’s daughter, Lin.

Katara gets pregnant for a fourth time - planned - just after Shira turns two, but this time she has a miscarriage. Zuko was overseas when it happened so she went through it alone. Katara is devastated and resents Zuko for not being there. She knows it’s not his fault but she can’t help her emotions and that makes her feel even worse so she just shuts down - stops doing her Fire Lady work, stops spending any more time with Zuko and their children than necessary, won’t let the rest of the family visit them and spends most of the day lying in bed. Zuko doesn’t know how to help her so initially he decides to give her space to grieve however she feels she needs to, but it just deteriorates until one day Zuko suggests that maybe they should both go to therapy or marriage counselling or something because it can’t go on like this. Katara just completely loses it at that and ends up yelling at him all the things that she’d been bottling up over the last couple of months. Katara says some awful things and she’s expecting Zuko to take it poorly, hence why she kept it all inside up till now, but Zuko just accepts every bit of it and after that, she’s finally able to grieve properly and mend.

About six months after they come back together, they decide to try again and Katara eventually falls pregnant. The pregnancy itself goes smoothly but both of them are so stressed about something going wrong like last time and the effect that might have on both of them, then Gran Gran passes away when Katara is in her thirtieth week, so the full ten months were incredibly hard-going. 

It’s a big relief when the baby is finally born on Ember Island, three years after Shira in 117 AG. They name her Lili in honour of their recent losses, since lilies can ease scars and Iroh once referred to them as lights in darkness. From the beginning, Lili is the image of Katara in every way physically and characteristically - kind, patient, gentle, but does have quite a temper if she’s pushed too far. She’s also a waterbender, though it takes her a little longer to manifest her abilities than any of her siblings, first gaining control of the water at the age of six. Lili is incredibly endearing, as both a child and an adult, and she becomes so particularly popular with the Fire Nation public that the firebending qualification to be considered an heir to the throne is reversed, so Shira and Lili are inducted into the succession. Born in the same year, Lili had a long-term relationship with Tenzin, Aang and Toph’s thirdborn, but as they grew older, Tenzin was concerned that if he married her, their children would have heritage of all four elements and degrade the chances of Tenzin producing airbenders and continuing the Air Nation. That concern resulted in a kind of on-again-off-again thing but eventually Lili sent him off with an "I don’t want to be with someone that isn’t even sure he wants me" and went travelling the world for a few years. When they’re both in their thirties though, Lili and Tenzin reconnect and get back together, eventually marrying and producing five children - Jinora, Aya, Hiro, Rohan and Kano, the elder four airbenders and the youngest a waterbender.

A few months after Lili is born, Sokka and Suki have a baby girl and when Katara and Zuko go to visit their new niece, they agree that night on a spur-of-the-moment that they want one more child. The morning after, they talk about it properly and decide it’d be better to wait till Lili was a bit older, but Katara found out six weeks later that that one time had been successful. About halfway through, they find out that they’re expecting a boy and Katara is especially excited since their son had always been more closely attached to her whereas their girls were very firmly Daddy’s girls. Sure enough, when Kallik arrives in 118 AG, he’s a big Mama’s boy and remains so his entire life. Apart from his curly black hair, Kallik is the spitting image of his uncle, to the point that Hakoda says that seeing Lili and Kallik together is like seeing young Katara and Sokka. Kallik is the hardest to handle out of their children - loud, playful, mischievous and an exhausting troublemaker. All of the siblings fight like cat and dog but Kallik and Izumi are by far the worst, on the level of one walks into a room and the other is like “And I took that personally” and they never seem to grow out of it even when they’re both old and grey. Kallik is the only nonbender in the family and initially he struggles with this a bit but he spends a lot of time hanging out with Uncle Sokka, learns dao swords with Shira and Zuko, and by the time he hits his teens, he comes to view it more as something that sets him apart from his siblings. When he’s 18, he goes to join the United Forces and he stays in service till his late thirties, when he meets Ren, another serviceman from the Northern Water Tribe. After beginning a relationship with him, the pair settle in Republic City and end up adopting two daughters, Kirima and Alasie.

About a decade after Kallik is born, it seems like things are kind of slowly drawing to a close as the kids are getting older - Kai is 19 and has left home, Izumi is 18 and living away in Republic City while she studies at university, Shira is 14 and already talking about moving South the first chance she gets, Lili is 11 and wanting to go Northern Water Tribe to train with the healers there, and Kallik is 10 and dreaming of being a great military commander like Grandpa Koda and Uncle Sokka - when suddenly Katara starts to get really, really sick. Zuko is absolutely terrified, thinking that there’s something seriously wrong with his wife, but after some deduction, it turns out that Katara is actually pregnant again. The relief at realising she’s not dying is short-lived and the reaction from both of them is basically holy shit holy fuck we are too old for this our other kids are practically all grown up now we are done with babies we can't seriously have six children what are we going to do. There’s a lot of discussion, especially since Katara is 43 by then and the risks for her to be carrying another child are higher, but they ultimately decide to go through with it. Ironically, it’s the easiest of all her pregnancies and when Katara delivers a baby girl in Republic City in 128 AG, there hadn’t been a single complication to speak of. Iroh had passed away two years earlier, devastating the whole family but Zuko in particular, but the baby is born with his irises - a darker gold - so they name her Ilah. Her eyes are big and round like Katara’s but other than that, Ilah resembles her Grandma Ursa most strongly, with her thick chestnut-coloured hair and slight, delicate facial features. Naturally, Katara and Zuko think all their babies were the cutest baby but Ilah is probably objectively the cutest, with her big honey-coloured eyes, chubby cheeks and soft little curls.

Inevitably, since Kai, Shira, Lili and Kallik had all either left home before she was born or did so when she was still a little girl, Ilah gets a lot more concentrated attention from Katara and Zuko. She’s completely spoiled and doted upon by the whole family, including her elder brothers and sisters who visit her as often as they can manage. Since Izumi still lives in the palace permanently as the Crown Princess, she and Ilah are close, but Ilah ultimately ends up being closest with Izumi’s son, Kaz, who is only a year younger than his aunt. Ilah was even in the room when Kaz was born, though it wasn't an intentional move. Zuko was supposed to be watching Ilah when things got intense with Izumi’s labour but things escalated from 0-100 real fast and Katara didn't have time to hand Ilah off, so she stayed tucked in a sling on her mother’s back as Katara helped her eldest daughter to deliver her own baby, somehow sleeping through all the noise and commotion. Ilah and Kaz end up more like a brother and sister or best friends than an aunt and nephew, though Kaz always calls her Auntie Ilah when he’s teasing her. Ilah is perhaps the shyest around strangers of her siblings, uninterested in celebrity and attention, but she’s the most adventurous, determined and creative, interested in science and invention from an early age. Growing up, Ilah felt a little pressured by the renown of her family, especially when her firebending turned out to be just about average in power, but when she’s 12, Ilah figures out that she can combustionbend. From there, she applies her bending abilities to science and when she leaves home for university, she invents the combustion engine at age 20. The rest of her adult life is spent travelling virtually non-stop, working on innovation projects for the different nations. She never has children, on the account that it would be unfair to expect a kid to move around as much as she does and she’s happy enough with her numerous nieces and nephews, but she eventually marries her long-time girlfriend Li-Mei, an Air Nomad tasked with searching the world for new airbenders.

The headcanon that Filbrick and Ma Pines both have like, a randomly large amount of siblings each, always strikes me as kind of nice but also kind of weird. Like, I for one sometimes like to accept the hc that Filbrick has four siblings, and Ma has three, and her uncles are twins, and Filbrick’s little sister broke her arm because his older brother accidentally pushed her out of a tree, the same tree that caused permanent eye damage that he fell out of (they really should have cut that tree down) and like... I don’t even know how many different family headcanons I’ve seen for them that creates this amaglamation of ideas and family history that sometimes relates to Stan and Ford, and sometimes doesn’t, came from, but it’s interesting to look at for each story you want or could possibly tell about the next generations (Stan and Ford’s, esp) because of it. Like Ma’s uncles, who Stan and Ford only met one of (Ernie), because the other died in his twenties (Michael), always called them by their full names and gave them a two dollar bill every year on their birthday because it’s twice as cool as a one dollar bill, and there’s two of you to celebrate for, twice as much good on one day. Or their aunt Susie (the one who fell out of the tree) always, always called them “the Stans” to save time but they didn’t care much because Filbrick and Ma always went over to her place to see her, and once they turned eleven they could stay home instead as long as they promised not to get into any trouble home alone. Filbrick being the third out of four children and Ma being the second oldest out of three (yes, that’s the middle, but she always preferred being called second oldest, it was better than the forgotten middle kid) and how the dynamics of family influences their personalities and traits and Idk I don’t dive into the upper family of Stan and Ford often, but I appreciate all 24 headcanons I’ve seen on the family and mushing them together.

I concur, Laura oldest. then yeah, probs Derek, unless the age gap is bigger than we think it is... which could be cool too (if by cool you mean sad and horrible) since another sib between D&L might mean that D&L weren't very/as close pre-fire, making the loss feel even bigger... but also what they build with each other more special/unexpected too. Yeah, I def headcanon younger kids bet D&C and younger. at least one reeeeally young.

It breaks my heart so much to think of a tiny toddler Hale in that fire but... yeah, I always imagine a little one in there.

(Ok, I’m going to put all the responses into this ask because a lot of my reactions are going to connect to other responses.)

fruitstripegum –– I HC that there were two others- both human- and that one was Laura's twin brother and one was younger than Cora. In my mind, Laura had been training to be the Alpha and the brother was meant to be her emissary. I feel like Derek has real middle child syndrome (I, too am a middle child, so there may be some self insert) but he grew up in this big family with lots of close cousins and siblings and then suddenly he's only got Laura... and then after she dies he's alone and he doesn't know how to be alone. That explains a lot of his s1/s2 actions to me

I feel Derek as a middle child too (I’m also one haha so I might be right there with you with the over-identifying ;P) and I think maybe this is why my brain is always stuck on five siblings... although I do have a hard time justifying another sibling in the tight age gap between Laura and Derek. A Laura twin is an interesting theory though, and a human twin meant to be an emissary? That’s legitimately kind of awesome. Despite, as anon said, that kind of stinging because it means Derek would have most likely felt more left out and more distanced from Laura growing up, that also kind of makes sense because if Laura was closest to her twin, and the next oldest sibling was an eleven year old Cora, that gives more of a reason for Derek to have confided so much in Peter, and to have clung to Kate rather than family for comfort after Paige.

refrigeratorbucky –– I think two others as well, although I couldn't quite envision in my head what their gender would be - maybe that's bc even though I thought in my head that the Hale family was big I kinda just envisioned like cousins and stuff and never thought as to whether Derek had brothers and more sisters.

I have such a vague, hazy image of who these extra siblings would be. I agree that cousins could be just as likely... except for my core problem: just how strange it would be if Kate tried to kill all the Hales and ended up missing all of Talia’s children.

noirprincessleia –– Idk why but I always imagine there being  three, and (this isn't implied at all) but I imagine Cora having a twin - like a few minutes younger - and it always makes me sad bc I feel like losing that kind of bond may have influenced her personality to what it was post-fire. So, in my head, there's Cora's twin, a younger one (around 10ish) and then one between Laura and Derek. I think there would've been plenty of cousins though.

Ooh, another twin theory. I’ve actually read a couple fics with Cora twins actually, and honestly I can kind of see that. I can’t even begin to explain why, but I feel like her personality would just work really well with a twin? Like... just the way she snarks and rolls her eyes sometimes almost feels like she’s waiting for someone totally in sync with her to meet her gaze and nod knowingly, and that’s such a twin thing. Cora twin totally works for me.

moviecrush –– I think there would also be some cousins in there that would be like siblings.  Do you think Talia and Peter were the only two Hales? nah, I think there's a possibility of another Derek aunt/uncle

I’m totally behind cousins being there (and, combining ideas, maybe they had a cousin close to Laura’s age, rather than a sibling? That would tie in to Laura having a close-aged confidante without worrying about the tight age gap between Laura and Derek, and Derek would still feel very much like a middle child even if he was the second oldest, if he had older cousins living in the house with him who were almost like siblings.)
