I hope that the hype around Gladiator 2 leads to some of the excited people who most definitely haven't seen the original Gladiator... to watch that... because it's so symbolic of the type of movie we just don't really make anymore, and the only reason why Gladiator 2 is happening is because this one was THAT successful
Like, this was when instead of spending a fuckton of money on superhero shit or other types of preexisting IP, they gave Ridley Scott a huge budget ($103 mill back then, $187 mill today, I weep) and it was spent on shit like... S-tier actors monologuing about slavery and morality and incestuous desire... and HUGE battle scenes that actually had movement.... and BANGING lines like "On my signal--unleash hell"or "I will have my vengeance IN THIS LIFE OR THE NEXT"
It's not a PERFECT film but it's an extremely fun movie that also has a story that isn't necessarily easy (the villain is atrocious but also clearly had a subpar father who ruled an empire well but raised his kids not well, the aforementioned incest plot is a thing, the hero has a dead wife he loved but also a complex relationship with a woman whose role should be bigger BUT she is not Nice and Sweet and she is by NO means a madonna or a virgin, the ending is not like... again simple) and there is no sense that the movie doubts the audience's ability to enjoy the spectacle and epic nature of the film while also accepting that there isn't necessarily a clear-cut narrative where there are No Problems Ever Again and Everyone Is Good
And it did in fact make a lot of money

I think The Q might contain one of the greatest declarations of friendship/love ever.

Excuse me but during the play, didn’t you say that Lestat buried himself for a century at the Porte de Neuilly after Nicky’s death (looking to Armand « he had help », and Louis not only saw it but told it in present time) before moving to New Orléans ? So the contradictions with « ouin ouin he left me and he left Nicky and the coven » are THERE. Daniel, are you sleeping ??? I was sure, he was going to point it out.

I know we got those "leaks" about the episode titles. But seeing as "choice" is not "Honesty/Acceptance" then imma throw a bone and say the title of episode 8 isn't "Doom". If it is, my bad, I'll hold my hand up first.
But I wonder, if it's not...what is it?
I'm sure any speculation I have will be wrong, but if I was Lesyle, I would go with "Eclipse." Seeing as every episode has been a / (my brain wanted to put /fic lmao nope not that) for opposites, this is the one episode where the duality of everything, and the twins, narratively, should all come together.
A word that describes an alchemical union in some form. Even a title like "Ouroboros" or "Dyad". Or even something to represent a triad. I will be very surprised if it's not.
We shall see.
If all else fails, I'll take Enemy/Lover? teehee.

i know you're a ONE-centric blog now but just wanted to drop it and say that i was looking for bkdk metas and yours came up and i LOVED it !!!!!! only been in the mha fandom for 3 years, but you've stuck by bkdk since 2018 + i hope you feel rewarded by everything that's happened since ! all the older bkdk fans got the last laugh <33 (again dont post this on your blog since its not really an 'ask' but hope this made you smile + feel some sort-of nostalgia, have a great day !!!)
Ahaha, oh anon~ So you've noticed. ;) (And no worries, there's no need to hide it; I'm fine with sharing!) I'm guessing you found one of those old anon-asks I answered back in 2018? Cause in truth my faith in bkdk had already been fully invested since 2016, but I secretly kept it to myself (for obvious fandom hell reasons) til I could no longer hold back my feelings anymore, and began posting here in 2017 with some of my first metas for them. And since then *insert serious Woody voice* oh yes I've always stuck by and seen ev-ry-thing~
This is what I had already long concluded and confessed back then:
I’ve come to an educated decision pertaining to what’s been narratively invested from the start – a core direction of the series actually, and from this I’ve found one of the most fascinating, complex, and rewarding character-relationship dynamics I’ve seen. Damn I’m sold.
And now? AND NOW?? What does it FEEL like? To be rewarded for that long term patience and receive precisely what I'd signed up for? Ohum~ It feels like purring behind a pleased smile, chilling back with some of the most refined scalding hot darjeeling tea.....to have simply enjoyed this ride and trusted in Hori (not the western fandom) and my own reading preferences from the start. To be constantly fed his slow-cooked, full course meals without ever needing to ask for anything more? Cause there's really no need! Everything came to those who waited. Hah....(yes the signs were there all along for those who chose to look and read his work for themselves) it feels so correct to have chosen Kacchan as a favorite and follow how his complex canon relationship with Deku would develop from their deliberately rocky beginnings. I am so glad for the journey to get here. :')) I can only wish Hori the best to finally stick the landing and conclude his series in a way he feels satisfied with!

A while ago, we saw someone explain why they don’t like first person. Aside from “it’s shallow” (which feels like a shallow critique itself without more context), they cited a desire to understand what all the other characters in a scene are thinking and feeling, and I found that very interesting.
Because I don’t feel like every story benefits from knowing every character involved in it to such an intimate degree.
A lot of interesting speculation can be derived from gaps in the narrative. Why did he do that? What was her real motive there? The protagonist can speculate, but are they really the most objective source for that, or are you assuming that they are because they’re in the narrator seat, and they haven’t explicitly called themself unreliable?
First person creates a very specific opportunity to convey characters outside of the protagonist via showing and not telling.
It also creates a great opportunity to put your reader in a mental maze (the central narrator’s perspective) and give them a fun crumb trail out of it (the way that other characters react to the narrator).
I personally think that first person really shines under the right circumstances; and I think one of the best circumstances is when the central narrator has some horrendously skewed worldview. When they’re a fucked up little guy. When they think they know what’s up and they really, really don’t.
And when there’s other characters just as fun outside of them to force the reader to fill in the blank spaces for themselves.
Anyway, sometimes I feel like the push against first person is motivated by people being burned by boring, one-dimensional first person narrators and/or a distaste for common YA conventions. At other times, I feel like it’s motivated by the very bland desire to have the author shine a flashlight into every nook, cranny, and crevice of the narrative so that you don’t miss out on anything. I understand the desire to know more, but it's also fun to be able pick up the flashlight yourself as a reader!
No style of narration is inherently lesser than another. They just suit different readers and author's tastes.

If Tumblr is winding down, will you be archiving or backing up the Jessica blogs and the Timeline Canon stuff? For future generations?
I've been going through everything @photomatt posted earlier in regards to the leak, and I don't think Tumblr is necessarily winding down like we expected.
That said, I would like to have those stories and threads archived or backed up somewhere. I'm just not sure what the best way to going about that would be.

So I know everyone has anxiety/secondhand embarrassment from neverafter ep 15
So first off (Breathe in for 5, hold for 5, out for 5)
Now i actually think the dice work is mysterious ways. And are narratively setting things up as the darkest hour/moment for destiny's children.
Why else would Gerard get a nat 20 to elody's weeping face.
However, the dice are not completely merciless, as shown by Gerard saving on the strength save and using the sword of truth to view the truth of the gander and brennan rolling a NAT 20 luck check to allow the group to see the gander.
Something something its always darkest before the dawn but the dawn is coming.
Essentially the dice just like good drama and know a majority of us are neuro-divergents and true horror is conversations with other people.

do any of the cats in the rewrite have chronic pain? as someone w/ chronic back pain, i feel like a lotta of the cats would have it due to injuries or just having it from birth
I don't quite have any yet, besides a half-baked idea for Volewhisper where his back leg is going to get amputated and he feels ghost pains
I'm keeping it in mind though, along with dyspraxia and coordination issues for cats who have autism.
