this is such a great statement for the theme of the album as well as who stray kids are

the bass is really good and the key is wonderful

the pre hook is absolutely amazing and it gets you hyped

minho’s parts are one of my favorites tbh he has such good energy and it makes it feel like his lines are a punch to the gut

this is an amazing title track imo!

honestly this is a great statement about who stray kids is and how far they’ve come. now hear me out.

they kind of show a little bit of everything that makes up their genre so to speak. noise music, hard bass, charming little quirky parts, not even mentioning the fun choreo and footwork that they’re known for. 

it showed that they’re here and that they aren’t changing their brand any time soon.

the whistle to start it off is so iconic honestly 

the pre hook yet again is my favorite and the ending section of the chorus with all the footwork :D

the pre hook is both gentle and hype-building

also that endless bass in the hook is so nice it’s low and tickles my ear just right

honestly i’m not always for big flashy mvs but i know that’s kind the era of kpop mvs rn but skz never really bothers me with their mvs even if there’s a lot going on LOL (like the soldiers, the octo monster, the horse, the fire, just for examples) oh and i won with all the chris shots LOL anyways

i really like the choreo it’s really playful and like they said it’s like a “playful annoying” HAHA it really comes off as these annoying kids having fun without a care. my favorite part of the choreo is the hook and the start of verse 2 i love the switch up so much it’s not even funny. 

also the part where minho and chris get to be center with the footwork that’s such a nice moment!

i loved all the scenes on the boat fr fr that’s so cool! i also loved the camera work yet again their mvs always have such nice camerawork and editing <3333333 i love how they yet again did everything that tends to “bother” people. adding a lot of things to their videos and making them wild just like making their music noisy HAHA

suicide prevention month 2021 - things that helped me stay alive

i heard that this month is suicide prevention month in the united states. as someone who’s struggled for many years with suicide myself, and is currently in the mystical “better place”, i feel it’s my duty to open this can of worms. i am unafraid of the stigma that comes with discussing such things.

i’ll go over things that helped me to cope during dark times. these may also apply to being depressed in general (?) because no offense but “drinking water” doesn’t help as much as google seems to think it does. note that these aren’t be all end all solutions, more like techniques that helped me to stay sane on some of my worst days.

1. get rid of everything that’s an immediate danger to your health.

if you’re actively a danger to yourself, safety-proof your home. don’t keep sharp objects lying around, or anything dangerous of the like. get rid of anything toxic or chemical, and don’t keep medicines in excess.

2. if you can’t make yourself happy, try to mildly amuse yourself instead

thinking “happy thoughts” doesn’t really work for me, especially if i’m in the throes of a depressive episode. i do have many things that make me happy, but i seem to forget about all of them in dark times. that being said, really dumb jokes get me every time. if i can make myself laugh, smile or chuckle, i’ve already made it 10 times easier for myself. and if i can do that, usually it’s easy to make myself forget about the original reason i was upset in the first place.

dear reader, i don’t know what would count as “mildly amusing” to you, but here’s some things that work for me.

i have a self care playlist on youtube. mine’s pretty dumb, but making a playlist like that of things that you find entertaining or amusing might help. another amazing one is distantcry’s worst beat ever collection.

very specific songs that really get me going include metrostation’s shake it, botdf’s bewitched, rm’s expensive girl, and she past away’s ruh.

3. do some self care activities

self care is very very important. when you feel like you’re absolute worst, that’s a free pass to be as selfish as you need to be until you feel better. no job, no person, no drama is worth dying over. all of that can wait until after you’re finished what you’re doing. if you’re not really sure what to do as self care activities, i’ll list some suggestions.

take a hot bath, if possible. if you have the resources, add bubbles, flower petals, bathe salts or candles. i did this the other day and sat in the bath and ate crumpets. it was amazing. if not, have a steaming hot shower. (i know it’s hard to find the energy, but it’ll help, i promise)

watch your favourite childhood show, or your favourite show at the moment, or play a video game.

sleep all day, or take the day off.

eat your favourite food, or the best food available to you right now.

spend some money if you have it. personally, i never spend all my money in a week, i save some in case i have a panic attack or something so then i can spend money on something totally random to make myself feel better.

change up your appearance. i usually end up cutting my hair short or randomly dying it, but this can also mean dressing in a way that makes you feel good, painting your nails, or doing your makeup.

4. know how to comfort yourself

this is related to the last one but knowing what brings you comfort is very important. it took me a very long time to figure out what things i find comforting. list the things that you find comforting, and you can use those to help yourself feel better. it might be music, interests, even something abstract.

if you can’t think of anything, then make sure to pay attention to things that make you feel nice/comforted, and list them down. it’s also important to know what will send you over the edge, so you can avoid it.

5. distraction topics

this may help with anxiety as well, but having distraction topics can help you to calm down and forget about what you were worried about. it’s good to have a few distraction topics up your sleeve in case of emergency. i’ll list a few of my favourites, but if you ever need one don’t be afraid to ask me directly, or send me an ask on my blog! i have a ridiculous amount of misc knowledge just floating around.

dinosaur fossils of mothers protecting their nest have been found, meaning that dinosaurs probably felt some form of motherly love. love on earth is billions and billions of years old. creatures have loved each other on this planet since before the dawn of history. imagine being the first organism to love on this planet and what that must’ve been like

some cave paintings were animated. they had different frames painted over each other, and the flickering of a flame in the cave would cause the images to appear as if they were moving. isn’t that extremely profound?

i saw somewhere, that scientists attempted to see what an electron was made out of, or something to that effect. it’s made of a pool of energy, which is essentially nothing. no form, no matter. everything is made out of nothing.

6. romanticise your future

a lot of us probably don’t have a concept of the future, or if we do, it’s something that sounds absolutely horrible. well, forget about that! think instead about how hot n sexy you’ll be in your 30’s, 40’s, etc. don’t worry about how you’ll get there for now, your future self can take care of that. think about your ideal life, and get excited like it’s absolutely going to happen. the more you think about it, the more it will become true.

7. romanticise your current self

nobody in your life understands you? that’s because you’re the hot brooding mysterious one. struggle with very dark thoughts? omg you’d be so powerful as a jujutsu sorcerer. people are staring? it’s because they’re in love with you. people whispering as you go by? also in love with you. no friends? the universe had to keep you humble because otherwise you’d be too perfect. hate the way you look today? you’re just a littel troll babie. the more amusing these thoughts are, the better. and if you think these things for long enough, eventually it will trick your brain into thinking it’s true. who’s gonna check you? the telepaths?

8. put things into perspective

i am prone to delusional thoughts when i’m panicked, and i have to remind myself to reel it in. think about it, you’re more afraid of answering the phone than you are of death? doesn’t sound very cash money of you, bro.

think about how many years you’ve really lived, especially if you think you’ve failed in life. take 12 years off your age, because childhood doesn’t count. also take off any other years which you were forced to live the way someone else wanted you to live, rather than for myself.

for example, i’m currently 23. my household was pretty strict, so i couldn’t really do anything before age 18. which gives me a grand total of 5 years of me trying to figure out life by myself. it helps me to remember how young i actually am in the grand scheme of things, and that i have plenty of time to still figure things out.

9. find a safe outlet for dark urges

for me, art and journaling really helped. music too, especially when i felt like i could relate to either the lyrics, or just the tone/mood/feel of the song. it might be exercise, or you may like to do creative writing or make oc’s. sometimes you may just need a friend or someone to listen.

10. sleep it off

sleep is not going to cure anything, but if i’m pushed over the edge and am struggling with dark thoughts, going to sleep almost always helps. most of the time i still feel like shit in the morning, but no longer in the mood to try anything hasty.

lastly: suicide is not the easy way out

note: i’m gonna be discussing my own experiences with suicide in this part, so if you don’t want to see that, then don’t read past this point

suicide is not the easy way out. it’s messy and it’s ugly and it’s painful and it’s gonna bring out the worst in people. i’ve been struggling with it since age 19.

one particular attempt landed me in the hospital after i swallowed a bunch of painkillers. i couldn’t think or speak properly, i was slurring my words and tripping over myself. my doctor brushed me off and said that it “would probably get better” with time, but it never did. it improved, but my mind has never been the same as it once was, and one of my biggest insecurities to this day is when i struggle to learn new things or get things mixed up that i shouldn’t. i struggle to learn the simplest of things, and my reaction times tend to be very slow.

the point is, sometimes you don’t die, sometimes you just end up hurting yourself in a way that won’t get better. nobody needs that. if had’ve known how to calm myself down back then, i might not’ve tried.

i don’t mind talking about it now, since i’ve dedicated so much time in learning how to uplift myself. i may be in the “better place” now, but you don’t need to rush yourself to be better immediately. sometimes you need to be patient, use baby steps, or learn to accomodate yourself where you are. these things take time. that’s okay.

and remember, you are loved and very much needed to be here on the planet with us.

your “luke and alaric are married af” series made me transcend. they absolutely ARE. when i watched the show i really expected them to be in a canon relationship bc. it just seemed obvious. (me and magnus: you mean you’re NOT married??????) i’m surprised it’s such a small ship tbh. there is so much potential... i would love to hear more from u!!!!! what ideas do u have? first dates? how does maia react (i bet she’s like... duh? you’re my dads)? the story of luke’s epiphany omg???

for real!!! the chemistry and the love between them was so real and palpable and like hello? the way they always were on each other's corner? the Partners to Lovers dynamic?? the obvious mutual respect they had even though they were always butting heads? the way they always seemed to be growing together and not just fighting??? again the CHEMISTRY?? the fun little snippets we had like "it's never too early for teriyaki"?? literally we had so much to build an amazing romance and alaric is such a minor character his actor isn't even an actor he's a stunt double

like they had what 5 scenes and they all had such a great setup for romance or even for them to have been married the whole time??? they certainly had old married couple dynamics. fuck jocelyn i am speaking her out of existence. also i mean open relationships but why would luke even have a relationship with jocelyn when he had an actually good relationship to compare it to?

also the potential of their getting together being tied up to some personal growth from luke as an alpha and a downworlder in general like... most of their conflicts was because a part of luke still felt indebted to shadowhunters and their heritage and he kept putting the wolves last, and it would have been so good to see luke slowly realizing that he doesn't owe them shit and he gets to prioritize his own people and the people who are there for him, and him eventually choosing alaric over jocelyn being tied to choosing himself as he is now to who he used to be as a (terrible) shadowhunter...

not that it's alaric's job to fix luke obviously, but i don't think it would be "fixing" and this definitely wouldn't be a "teaching luke out of racism" story because when luke helped alaric as he became a werewolf he was already somewhat settled into werewolf life. i just think that a part of luke feels like he still owes loyalty to the people who hated him and it could have been a nice parallel to see him letting this go and getting with alaric. especially because alaric never coddled him, so, you know. and i think luke needed that little push in that sense. and alaric meanwhile would also be growing more confident into his role in the pack and in their job and getting the support he obviously still needed, and like, it could have been so good? definitely rocky before they sorted it out, but good. and of course sh had to waste the opportunity without even giving it thought because when don't they

anyway!!! as for your actual questions! first date is honestly so hard for me because i feel like their first date would feel like their billionth date. again i say, THEY ARE MARRIED whether they know it or not. so i can see their first official date going one of two ways: it's very lowkey, nothing they haven't done a thousand times before (like going to a small little family restaurant that they like, eating together, talking, maybe sharing a milkshake and they feel stupid but they're giggling and can't stop smiling and it makes them so happy that who cares) and it's absolutely PERFECT; OR they try to go all out and make it special and ~woo~ each other and it feels a little weird at first but it's still good and they get to enjoy the romantic ambience, hold hands over the table, and they're both a little shy because it feels like such a leap but it feels right

im gonna elaborate a little bit on both because i really love both??? so like they go to this little joint that is not the jade wolf or anything too close because they want to have this moment for tHEMSELVES, away from wherever anyone else from work or the shadow world might see them and from where they would think about it and associate with it. i am thinking... ohh some nice little place near where alaric's grown up? i'm headcanoning him as hondureño since we got no specifics other than his last name being rodriguez and i'm feeling like making him central american

and ALSO a great typical honduran dish is marinated meat and since luke is a beef jerky fan he would be all over that shit. i headcanon that luke knows alaric's family to some extent (i made a very quick reference to that in the second fic of the series) and i really love to think that luke has been to at least a few carneadas with alaric and his family?? which is aaaaaa another whole thing to talk about i might get back to it in a second but the DATE

also i like to think that luke would fall in love with rice and beans/casamiento because that is my rights. so like them going to the restaurant and having some meat (it's not really a carneada outside of the context of a carneada and for a date but like.. maybe pinchos or ye regular steak with urucum? i've had that in central brazil a few times and god i love it to death. or maybe chimol which sounds like something luke would like) with casamiento, tajadas, u know, the regular stuff? and it's lowey intimate because they are sharing the dish and it's something from alaric's culture you know??? god damn it i'm still talking about food. the point is that it's very casual and intimate but also uplifting and fun because this is a honduran restaurant we are talking about, so there's probably music, noise, alaric knows the family that runs it and possibly luke does too but they still have their space. maybe they get to dance a little bit because please god i am begging you, and luke has never had too many opportunities to dance before but it turns out he is a natural even if a little self conscious. i am picturing them dancing salsa which i kNOW is not an honduran dance but if the restaurant just leaves a Latin Music™ radio on as they usually do in latino restaurants in the US it's not that unlikely that it would play. and with alaric not being actually cuban he wouldn't humiliate luke too much. lmao

anyway most of the time they are just talking and teasing each other and every time luke takes a bite of the food he moans a little bit because he's a sucker for marinated meat and alaric wasn't even the one to cook it but goddamn if he doesn't feel proud of himself. and they share a drink (i guess the milkshake idea doesn't fit as well here but whatever they will get two straws for their iced tea or Tropical if they're feeling silly or agua de ensalada if they're feeling traditional. the point is that the lack of milkshake won't stop them from doing their dumb sappy thing) and are kind of laughing the whole time because it feels so teenage-y but to be fair luke DID just find out he was bisexual and figuring out your sexuality always brings in second puberty in terms of experiences. and alaric is not going to complain because it feels so sweet and right

and then the dancing which is fun and intimate and a little challenging for luke even if they aren't Full On Dancing Salsa, just a few moves here and there together but they get to be close and intimate and maybe alaric does some impromptu spinning and it makes them both laugh and maybe rub their noses together while they laugh and they are being so silly but they don't care

and basically they go home after hours, as you do, holding hands and a little drunk on each other, bumping shoulders on the way, alaric resting his head on luke's shoulder and luke on top of alaric's? and it makes walking a little awkward but god They Don't Care. and it just feels so perfect, like home and family and everything they are to each other :))))

really wanna add an "and then they fuck like rabbits" at the end but anyway i'll try not to ruin it

second date option! full out fanciness. they are already partners, they have seen each other in every possible situation, they know their worse, they know their married ways, but they want to have a ROMANTIC first date! lay thick their new relationship status. woo each other! show each other what amazing caring boyfriends/husbands they are. be adults!

they pick some fancy restaurant that luke may or may not have gotten suggested to him by magnus when he called him in a bit of panic because he is not very well versed in fancy restaurants and the like. maybe magnus even takes that extra step and portals them somewhere extra romantic like venice or whatever but i think they'd want to be independent in terms of going there and back so maybe not. anyway the point is, fancy restaurant! suits! they are a bit more nervous than they usually would because they haven't been in a place like this in waaayyy too long and they've never done anything remotely similar to that together before so it feels like a new territory and they kiinda want to prove something even though that's stupid because they've already chosen each other

but it goes well???? not as natural as the first date idea but that might just be me and thinking that casualness is the most romantic thing, and either way, it still feels so right and good. they get to sip wine, hold hands over the table, say something sweet to each other over entrees, share dessert, bicker over who gets to pay. again the marriedness of it all absolutely slips through but there is that new element that they are getting to explore and that feels so nice

and it's never stilted and forced, even if they are a little nervous, they are still themselves and it goes down smoothly and they are happy that it worked so well because there is always that fear in a best friends to lovers kinda situation that things will just feel weird, especially when you're both adults and have so much history. but it doesn't, it feels romantic and new and exciting and as they leave they tease each other a little bit like "after you, gentleman" and laugh together 🥺🥺🥺

and they have their first kiss as they leave and they both linger a little bit as they just stand under the stars and keep their eyes closed and their hands linked together and i need a moment oh my god

I can’t decide if this is because he shares so many similarities to the character hangman adam page, but so many of these songs apply to his character like, this fucking playlist plays like a hangman adam page THE CHARACTER playlist. like this is the playlist i’d find on 8tracks back when that was the “thing” in fandom where every song makes me go “OMG THAT IS THAT CHARACTER” like. I don’t know if he did that purposefully as an extension of the character? or if it just happens to line up because of how similar he is and his story is to his character but SOME of these songs wooooo boy they get deep dont they? when you compare them to the character?

so I know some of these, especially the classics, summertime of course, but for the ones I didn’t know I love them so much. they have such a vibe that just fits him, and they’re all so good???

rather low by nick shoulders is one I didn’t know and I fucking LOVE it. and look. it goes from Long Time Gone by the Dixie Chicks. Long Time Gone about being away from the country life, from home and if my THEORY is right about this playlist hitting the character, hangman is struggling with being lost, without a family. it goes from that to rather low, which talks about not being welcome at home. like “I told you once I told you twice, I’m steeped in verse and cursed in vice” ajdskjds GOOD lyrics. beat slaps. song slaps. I love it.

okay so we go roll on mississippi which is soft compared to the two upbeat songs that just hit us before. calms you down after that high energy beat rather low had. lets you breathe. AND it’s got a sad, soft, longing pull to it, falling in with more of those “lost” from home themes. “You're the childhood dream that I grew up on. Roll on Mississippi, carry me home. Now I can see I've been away too long.” UGH! and also, it’s just a good fucking song.

then we go to a song i haven’t heard and love, going places by aubrie sellers. it’s a little bit funkier, but still soft. also groovy as FUCK. and it obv talks about GOING places. so maybe the first three songs were about the home he’s left behind, but now it’s about where he’s going. and man this song just SLAPS.

A CLASSIC is next, 1970 something illegal smile by john prine. it has that classic soft croon, such a good country sound and it’s a little bit playful. it makes you wanna smile and sway back and forth. it’s a good song. fun. but it’s almost a little bit. dark? “ Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone. No, I'm just tryin' to have me some fun. Well, I sat down in my closet with all my overalls, tryin' to get away from all the ears inside my walls. I dreamed the police heard everything I thought, what then?” it just makes me think of when his character “killed” joey ryan. I could be looking too far into it but, that’s what popped into my head.

OKAY NOW this next one. fuck yeah I DIG this song. I hadn’t heard this song and it quickly went into my liked songs. and if we’re following his character, the lyrics hit HARD. “ I've lost the will to try this worthless lullaby. Its melody won't fly me past oblivion. I bet it would be nice to find that paradise, a world of sparkling light beyond the setting sun. But I don't dream anymore” ugh !!!!!!! UGGGHH!! the next two back-to-back are CLASSICS and fit the hangman adam page character so damn perfect. i’ve even looked at lyrics from merle haggard’s i don’t want to sober up to night for adam in the past akjfdkjdsf it’s fucking perfect. and then followed by dwight yoakam’s honky tonk man?! amazing. we go from from fucking heart-wrenching lyrics if you think about them for him: “ I don't want to sober up tonight. CUTE? anyways this is a vibin as HELL song and if it’d come out when I was still raising cows my ass woulda been blasting this shit as I drove to feed the herd for SURE. this song is a whole ass vibe and I’m digging it.

I also am loving how he does a mix of classics with newer (but still almost classic-country sounding, maybe like. classic meets modern) country music in this playlist. AND WHAT A SONG. it’s so good? and again, just makes me think of the character. “there are two minds inside me. that’s one life too many. but i keep moving slow on both sides, strong as I can be.” tell me that doesnt make you think of hangman adam page. and it has such a... sad vibe. “i cant believe the things i am. as much a lion as a lamb” !!!!!!!!!!! ugh such a GOOD LINE. LOVE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh this song. especially the back vocals of the woman that comes in later on? it’s like. ethereal. beautiful. fucking beautiful and almost haunting. paired with the sad lyrics? long white line by sturgill simpson i do know and LOVE and it’s got a fun, uplifting cowboy beat following the more slow, sad croon of the last song. it’s SO COUNTRY. the way it’s sung? now we go from two new songs to another classic. another (i think) 1970s country hit. lonesome, on’ry and mean is SUCH a classic country song. it has that good old sound, and the story it tells too. and just, I can’t stop thinking about hangman just “ Been driving these highways, been doing things my way. okay back to a newer song and holy shit. this is my personal favorite of the new songs he introduced me to. this song I LOVE this song. fuuun FUN beat, makes me want to fucking GROOVE. okay, another classic and, to me, one of the sexiest songs on this playlist. I fucking love this song. it’s sexy with an underlying of dark. she literally seduces and knocks the guy out and robs him blind and he’s STILL craving her summer wine like. this song is SO GOOD. so fucking good. the way the music swells with the storytelling is beautiful. “Strawberries cherries and an angel's kiss in spring, my summer wine is really made from all these things. and guess what? two classics so we’re swinging to a newer song. left turn on a red light by blackfoot. oof. cowboys and hippies by cody jinks is such a hangman song it’s almost unreal. if I was going to REALLY reach I’d say it almost reminds me of the way the crowd pulls him back. “At some old honkytonk bar that I know by the smell, some old drunk on a barstool on a Merle Haggard tune. That's my kind of room. Raising hell with the hippies and the cowboys. They don't care about no trends, they don't care about songs that sell. Yeah, tomorrow I'll be gone, so tonight everybody just sing along, raising hell with the hippies and the cowboys” GOOD LYRICS. this has the same sad undertones too as a lot of these songs have too.

ugh. I love him sincerely for this next one. blue skies is one of my favorite songs, but blue skies by willie nelson? YES. my grandpa used to play willie nelson ALL THE TIME and I love this version. an uplifting song to follow the heavier songs. I’d like to think of a hangman who has the blue skies from now on. all of his blue days gone. this song is such a classic (cover) that just. good pick. I love this.

alright, so we’ve got a classic but he’s chosen the version from bojack horseman which makes me think that might’ve been the first time he heard it, but that’s neither here nor there. stars is a BEAUTIFUL song. and boy am I happy we had blue skies before this cause fuck. how sad? how emotional?????? “People lust for fame like athletes in a game, we break our collarbones and come up swinging, some of us are downed some of us are crowned, and some are lost and never found” fuck. fuck fuck fuck. and the last two lines, thinking about hangman? “So if you don't lose patience with my fumbling around, I'll come up singing for you, even when I'm down.” FUCK. my HEART. good pick but OUCH. good but ow.

summertime by orville peck is next BLESS finally an orville song I was gonna lose it on him if he put a playlist and DIDN’T include an orville song. interesting though he went with summertime, the newest, and not any of the ones off pony. but! it follows stars well. its soft, lull, and the lyrics are so hangman now that I put it in this context. “Catch 'em by surprise and chasin' the horizon, nothing holds me down. Dreamin' with the lights on, tryna keep your eyes on something along the rise" anyways I know YOU know this song well it’s so fucking good. has that same soft pull a lot of these songs have. the way that chorus swells though? the secondary vocals??? ugh. yeah this was a great choice, I’m glad he went with summertime. it fits the vibe of this playlist so well.

we’re ending on a song with such a country sound to it (i mean all of these do), a bit more upbeat, a bit more funky. “Some say I'm a wild man, drink too much nectar from the corn” and also “Oh the school, it wasn't for me. I earned my stripes a different way I learned to sing harmony and go play out on the stage” definitely makes me think of hangman for SURE. it’s a funky song to end on, and if you keep listening to the playlist on repeat like I do, it even falls into long time gone really well.

and of course this is assuming you’re meant to listen to them one after the other and not on shuffle. I’m sure it still works on shuffle but I LOVE the flow of this playlist listening to it one after the other.

love this whole playlist. and my identifying it with the character could TOTALLY be reaching, but of course I’m going to think of him and analyze his selection of *these* songs specifically to put out to all of us. out of EVERY song he likes. he didn’t include... hmm cowboy take me away, for example? shoulda been a cowboy??? the vibe of the overall playlist FITS “anxious millenial cowboy” it has an underbelly of sadness to it. and I dig the fuck out of that.

Chrono Cross Part 1 - NPCs living their lives

The music is so nostalgic~~ Anyway, I love how both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross kinda start off the game with the MC or someone opening the blinds in their room, it really gives that feel of it’s the start of an adventure!! Okay, it’s so cute how both Crono and Serge’s houses have a mum and a cat lmao, is this the classic MC house? Lol. Omgg I remember the fisherman guy and his gigantic fish, I always thought he was right to be so proud of catching it, I mean it’s literally the size of a house lmaoo. Anyway, did that fish…always wiggle and move?! That’s so scary LOL. It’s pretty interesting how they implement the Record of Fate/save point in the world, like it’s actually a thing in the world and not just something the player uses to save. It sounds kinda scary when the guy says it like that though, like if you forget to record it all down, you’ll lose your past, that’s… frightening. But the thing the girl says is pretty scary too! Like apparently it’s supposed to tell you what to do next, and if the Record of Fate doesn’t do that or you can’t hear anything, it means you have no future! That’s deep and scary! I find it hilarious how she tells you to deal with it by just sleeping though, since you can’t change your fate lol. It’s kinda interesting how the guy outside didn’t go fishing today because the Record of Fate told him not to go, I guess in a way, it’s kinda like a fortune telling thing too? There’s a Toma the Explorer here too?! How the world has changed though! From the great explorer that found the Rainbow Shell to the 14th generation of Toma who is outside gardening for living expenses haha! Lmao at Radius teaching the basics of battle, why did he kill me with Aquaball, revive me and then kill me again?! Hahaha. LMAOO at the grandpa admiring Miki the dancer’s poster even though he’s never seen her dance, he just wants to see her boobs jiggle HAHAHA, I loved it when he said don’t tell grandma lmao. Omg I remember the waitress girl that wants to be a poet! Lmao when she keeps calling the place a run down shack and the chef says she’s fired hahahah. Ooh dang, the poor boy is right that he needed my Komodo scale to make an accessory for Kiki because she might like Lolo instead, like dang Kiki is super happy that Lolo said he’s going to get scales for her, the boy better up his game! I’ll always remember the fisherman who gives you the Shark Tooth he got 10 years ago when he decided to succeed his father and become a fisherman instead of chasing after other aspirations he had, mainly because the him in Another World was quite different to say the least haha. I always love how easy it is to get Poshul to join the party, you literally just give her a bone and she’s like let’s go! Hahaha. LMAO at the barrel who gets annoyed at you constantly wanting an answer and gives you an uplift element hahahaha. Gotta love how passionate Leena is about the Komodo Dragon scale necklace hahaha, it is Serge’s fault for waking up late though, so he should get them for her now since she’s stuck with babysitting kids.

Gotta love how the monster’s name is literally Beach Bum hahahah. Also, I remember chasing that Komodo Dragon!! It used to be so annoying hahaha. Leena is really a sentimental girl huh? I like it though haha. Too bad Serge just disappears into Another World and can’t come back for a while. Lmaooo, did Poshul just ask if Leena spontaneously combusted?! HAHAHA. I nearly died. I don’t remember that line at all! That was hilarious. Anyway, I love how in Another World, the Komodo Dragon jumps you instead of you jumping on it in the Home World lmao, it’s such a cute detail. I find it hilarious how in the cafe, now it’s the grandma staring at the hunk Nikki hahaha. I always found the poem girl interesting, mainly because they both feel like they’re stuck in a random small village not able to really venture the world with the poems they really love, but they possess a really different attitude towards it. In the Home World, even though she’s just a waitress in the cafe, she still holds hope in writing poems and still has the drive and the dream to continue it, whereas here, she gave up on them a long time ago and doesn’t even want to mention it, she’s literally given up on her dreams and doesn’t think it’s realistic. Which may be true, but the way she’s doing it is really just avoiding what she really wants to do, which is saddening. I don’t think I realised but the guy who prays to Mojo instead of becoming a fisherman was actually a friend of Serge’s father! And it was because of what happened 10 years ago where Serge “drowned” that he ended up changing and praying to Mojo instead of becoming a fisherman. I find it saddening though, because you can see how happy the family was in the Home World where they happily talked about their daily life, whereas here, the mother and the wife etc all just talk about how the dad keeps just praying to Mojo and refuses to do anything else in his life, he doesn’t even spend time with Kiki. I always love the Komodo Dragon in “Serge’s Room” that rips you off 100G for resting there lmao. He doesn’t tell you beforehand!! He just let’s you rest and then goes pay up lmaoo. Btw, I really love how even though Chrono Cross has the same “silent protagonist” thing going on, he’s less “bland” than Crono because you can actually assume what he says from the NPC reactions in the dialogue, like they’ll kinda repeat what Serge asked to kinda gather what Serge says without you knowing. So he has more personality than Crono haha. It also helps that Serge has more dialogue choices. It’s pretty interesting how much the people rely on the Record of Fate. The girl in the front of the line at the chief’s house in Arni explains it really well, the Record of Fate tells her what decisions she should make, so there’s no anxiety or fear about what to do. It’s kinda interesting yet crazy that this thing is basically relied upon for their whole lives, it’s also kinda scary to think that if they don’t record things down, they’ll essentially like disappear from this world with no records of themselves. It’s kinda saddening that Radius isn’t the chief here, but aside from being stingy, Gonji doesn’t seem too bad?

Omggg Peppor is so slack! He literally kicked Poshul off the cliff!! I forgot who told Karsh and them that Serge will appear here, but I assume it’s Lynx? Anyway, I always love Kid’s first appearance, she’s so cool haha. I always feel bad rejecting Kid’s company here since she obviously really wants to travel together, but Leena!! Haha. It’s nice that even though this isn’t the same Leena he grew up and spent most of his life with, she still feels a certain connection to him.. It’s really sweet how Kid tells Serge to find a place to rest up since it’s getting dark and dangerous to stay out even though he just rejected her company. Lmaoo at Poshul coming back by herself hahaha. Mojo jumping down and saying he’ll join Serge and them is so random, at least the guy got it right that it’s some sort of agent of love and courage lmao. It’s just…maybe it might seem like he wasted 10 years, but his family have waited for him these 10 years to turn around and face his life, so I’m sure it’s not too late, he can still be a proper father, husband and son! I always found Skelly to be a really interesting character. Mainly because he’s a character you literally have to piece back together by finding his body parts around the world lol. I still remember his story though, I found it really saddening yet sweet. I find it hilarious that he was howling this whole time trying to find someone “dead” like Serge to help him. I love the newbie soldier that warns you to not go down and get the Big Egg because the Dodo is gonna kill them, I found it so wholesome how he was so worried about Serge’s safety and asked if he was really okay haha. I kinda feel bad for stealing the egg but the egg isn’t really the Dodo’s anyway haha. Anyway, I love how silly Solt and Peppor are, they’re such a highlight. Their theme soundtrack is so funky and jumpy, I always loved hearing it, so iconic haha.

Termina is such a great town with such a good song! Like it really reflects the upbeat and cool town it is. Omg I totally get that lady doing her laundry, it’s like, sunny weather is great, but sometimes you need rain too, it’s hard hahaha. Lmao at Lisa’s (Leena’s friend) father I assume who likes to gather mushrooms, I love how when he finds a secret path to get into the Viper Manor, he automatically assumes it’s because Master Viper likes to gather mushrooms too hahahah, yes, he’s a good lord just because of that lol. Van’s father’s story is pretty terrible. Van laments and wonders whether his father really used to be an artist back in the day considering how he’s so obsessed with money now, but really, maybe if he listened to the maid, he might understand his father better. His father is still bad for neglecting the kid and stuff, but honestly it’s understandable. When he was an artist, he was poor, so when his wife got sick, he couldn’t do anything but watch her pass away, powerless to helping her, so now he earns money to make sure that his son can stay healthy and be taken care of if anything happens. I just hope he spends more time with Van, promises are important to keep. LMAO when you do the fortune telling and it’s all serious and stuff when it comes to the future of Serge and Kid, but when you choose Leena, the fortune teller just says that she won’t get a boyfriend for a long time hahahahaha, that’s so slack. Despite how cool Termina seems though, racism is definitely rampant against demi-humans, whether it be the way people treat demi-human workers or how that guy has a freaking live mermaid in an ice cube, like what?! I always find it so funny how you can take Greco’s weights and it makes you run around really slowly because it’s heavy hahaha, it’s so random and silly. And the new Glenn! He’s not as cool as Frog but I always liked the Glenn in this game because he was such a kind and gentle soul. He lived in Dario’s (his dead but capable brother) shadow but he’s good for his own merits imo. I guess in a way, it parallels the story of Frog and Cyrus but instead of Glenn being truly as capable as Frog, I think Glenn instead found his own strengths as a person, and it also intertwines with Riddel’s story. I like Riddel~

Honestly, I like Nikki and want to get him, but his path is boring compared to Guile’s so I always end up climbing the cliff with Guile haha. And don’t even talk about Pierre’s route into Viper Manor loll, it’s so anticlimactic, it’s boring lol. To be fair though, I really enjoy the different variety because I have actually played the game three different times to see the different paths haha. I have to admit though, I love how the great idea the guards have to protect the manor from intruders is to constantly throw rocks down at them LOL, like where does all this energy come from?! Hahaha. Omgg that dragon feeding game, I am so bad at it lol, I had to get my bro to help me do anything more than 10 times hahahaha. I feel like if you suck at it (like me), the 40 times one is the most worth doing because it gives you RecoverAll which is really good! Lmao at falling through the trap hole, I remember that~ So silly of the guards to just open up the cage because Kid taunted them hahaha. I remember Orcha!! I love how he’s chopping carrots(?) and they’re just flying everywhere lol! It’s saddening that the evil guys did something to him though. I find it so funny yet silly that Glenn can’t remember the password to get through the main door and needs to write it down on the wall lol! Thanks for the tip hahaha. The Boxer Brothers aka the big and small mimic duo are so cute! I keep hitting the wrong one and don’t get any items though😭 OMG hahaha, I love how the password to get through one of the doors is “silence” because, dang, my indecisiveness helped me get through LOL. I couldn’t decide which one sounded less stupid of an answer and right when I was like whatever, the guard says staying silent was correct hahahah. LMAO at the treasure chest in Karsh’s room. Initially, he tells you that you can’t open it, but when you keep trying to open it, his dialogue changes and he counts how many times you keep trying, and when you do it for the 20th time, he gives up and just let’s you have the accessory inside the chest hahahaha. It was so cool. Too bad for Zoah’s chest, you can’t get it until he joins you haha. Marcy is a crazy girl as usual haha, she deals so much damage!! I know she’s the highest ranking dragoon (apparently) among the three since Dario is dead now, but dang. As for what the prophet said, it’s not anything I’m not aware of since he’s really just telling him that there was a 50/50 chance for Serge to continue existing 10 years ago and the two worlds kinda reflect how he survived in one and died in the other, but now what he exists in this world where he has died, there might be something more to it? I always found it really evil of Lynx to throw that dagger at Kid (who was holding Riddel hostage so that everyone could escape), it was pretty dirty. It’s kinda weird to hear Lynx call Serge the Chrono Trigger now haha.

For now, I’m really enjoying my replay! It’s honestly been so long~ The music is as beautiful as I remember, and even though the graphics can be rather jarring with the crappy quality it shows up as on the TV, it’s still all right haha. It gave me a headache before but I think I’m getting more used to it now haha. Gameplay has never been something I cared about too much, but I honestly find the Chrono Cross battles so nostalgic. However, the highlight of the game for me is still the NPC dialogues, they’re just so full of life and vibrancy! Like, I can actually feel that they are living their own lives in their own way, and maybe it’s not always the “correct” way of life, but it is their life. Whether it be the grandpa looking at Miki’s poster or the poem girl, a lot of the NPCs are ones I’ve remembered for years and years because they made some sort of impression on me and I think that’s what makes me love Chrono Cross so much.

my boy ringo gets his own song and it’s awesome!!!!! george was so supportive of it and that’s really heartwarming. this has big spongebob vibes and it’s easy to be transported to the ocean (or bikini bottom). this is such a fun song! :D

4. i saw her standing there

this song is so catchy and upbeat. it’s really dance-able and has so much energy to it! it has strong new dream vibes and that’s a big reason why i love it so much. you can’t go wrong with them, especially when paired with the beatles! :D

3. do you want to know a secret

this song reminds me of snow white and finding out that it was based on john’s mum singing i’m wishing to him is the cutest thing ever! george’s voice was a bit funny at first, but i really liked it and he did a great job. this is an adorably sweet and simple song. :)

2. here comes the sun

this is such a happy and uplifting song that gives so much hope. it reminds me of the ending of frozen, when the ice truly did melt and it has been years since happiness had shone. i love the guitar solo near the end. george does a little voice crack on ‘it’s been years since it’s been here’ in take 9 and i love that! D

and my number 1 favorite beatles song is...

1. ob la di ob la da anthology 3 demo

this technically isn’t a separate song, but i’m counting it as such. this was the only beatles song i had on my ipod for a few years and the first one i listened to as a true fan. i love how it’s quieter than the album version, but still energetic. i love paul’s vocals, john going ‘yes sah take one for the united jumbo band!’ and ‘ob la di ob la da brother!’  are fun bits, the guitar is great, the little ‘la la la la la’s are cute and the beatboxing & saxophone is awesome. it’s the same song as 27, but it feels so different. it’s fresh, without tension and stoned john, it feels lighter, it’s... more alive i guess? the fact that i used it for my animation makes it truly special and it easily takes the top spot. no matter how many beatles songs i listen to, it’ll always be number one ♥

Seeing iKON live for the first time: a reflection

So last Thursday and Saturday I saw iKON live for the first time, in Sydney and Melbourne respectively. Here are my thoughts. 

Random thoughts:

- Before the Sydney show I was nervous af. Honestly, I couldn’t eat, couldn’t concentrate on shit, I was trembling, I was alternating between rambling like a madwoman and sitting in silence staring into space. My poor sister thought I was losing it. Think Hanbin in On Hiatus when Bobby texts him he’s outside his house and wants to speak to him in chapter 4. I was THAT. 

- I was so nervous because I felt like there was SO much at stake. I’ve written sooo much about these boys (over 337,000 words?!), I’ve spent so much time (enjoyable time lol) wondering about them, hypothesising how they’d respond to different situations, basically doing full on character studies. I was so scared that I’d go to the concert and what if....I’d gotten them wrong, I’d totally misunderstood them...what if they weren’t quite like what I imagined. What would happen then?? Would I be disappointed in myself?? Disappointed by them?? That wouldn’t be fair to them at all because they are PEOPLE not CHARACTERS!! And I would be disappointed in myself about that too!! So anyway, long story short, I was terrified some kind of disappointment would be inevitable. 

- So of course I was nervous (bats aggressively swooping in my stomach) right up till when they finally appeared. However, I was amazed that instead of feeling awe, or surprise, or disbelief, when I saw them lined up about to begin Bling Bling, I just felt insanely happy. Like childishly, innocently, joyously happy.

- I was so thrilled by how good the vocal line sounded live. Their voices sound SO clear, strong and full of colour. It was amazing to FEEL their voices echo and project in the room. The sound was better in Sydney however, for some reason their voices were more muffled in Melbourne, not sure why. May have been to do with my location in Festival Hall. 

- I wish Sydney iKONICS were a bit more friendly to one another. I felt like a village idiot when I smiled at some people and they just looked at me with confused, dead eyes. Like come one guys, can’t we all bond over this incredible experience?! Can’t we kill time in the massive-ass queue by getting excited together (But Sydney is a catty city, so that didn’t surprise me too much tbh) ?!?!

- They were all SO so So sweet and very endearing. They were just...adorable. I felt so affectionate and proud of them. 

Now, about the Boys themselves:

- They were all INCREDIBLY handsome in real life. Even more handsome than on tv or in photoshoots. Like, I dunno what it is about seeing them in real life, but they were just really stunning. 

- In Sydney especially they were tired (but did a very noble job of pushing through). In particular Hanbin, and I felt a wave of concern for him when he was bent over puffed at one stage. Bobby and Donghyuk were up there hyping up the crowd with “WHO WANTS ANOTHER SONG” and poor Bin was just shaking his head laughing, trying to catch his breath. You could really tell he was ready for a good 15 hours of sleep. 

- In Melbourne they all seemed to be more rested, except maybe Bobby. He did his very best not to let on he was tired, (and don’t get me wrong, he still had plenty of energy) but he was a bit more reserved in Melbourne than in Sydney and struggled to get his words out more when speaking english. Every now and again he seemed a bit distracted in Melbourne, like maybe his concentration was off. 

- The one thing that DID blow my mind, was that ALL of them - but especially double b - were exactly as I had imagined and written them to be. As a writer, I’ve tried my best to interpret them as accurately as possible from the sources given to us: tv shows, performance recordings, the music, the survival shows, the interviews, the radio appearances, etc. etc. How this whole time I’ve also been acutely aware, that no matter how hard I try, how can I truly get a “vibe” from someone when I haven’t seen them in person. Seeing them live made everything make sense. 

- Bobby had this gorgeous, outward energy, just the way I imagined him to be. He was so sweet towards the boys, but also devilishly cheeky and when he got the chance. As for his interaction with the audience, you could really tell he wanted to give us a good performance, it was like he really wanted to give us a gift and for us to love it. You could really feel how lucky he felt to have us there screaming and singing along, how appreciative he was (like dude, no, thank YOU!! NOT US!!). In Melbourne a small smile he shared with Hanbin suggested that special connection which made my heart soar. They clearly have a very deep connection, whatever that may be. Overall I would describe him in real life as Generous and uplifting. 

- Han Fucking Bin, my ultimate bias. Oh god. I was blown away by how similar he is in real life to how I have imagined. He had this incredibly complex, fascinating energy riddled with paradoxes. He was eccentric yet very in tune with the crowd, dorky yet intimidating, reserved/shy but very sweet, rather dreamy and in his own world, yet always very in control, unassuming yet also proud and a bit aloof. Maybe aloof isn’t the right word...maybe detached? But I guess what I’m trying to say is that I think he has a very good poker face, it’s his professional/leader face. He takes his responsibility to deliver a good concert very seriously and so he doesn’t always look like he can “let himself go.” But at the same time, I really got a sense that underneath the poker face he was feeling a lot, thinking a lot. He was doing a lot of work, but keeping that to himself.. Finally, he struck me as someone who has made the brave commitment to be himself unapologetically, but he’s still learning who exactly he is. I’m really excited to how he turns out, but if my gut feeling is right, he will only continue developing as a person, he won’t just find himself and stop there. He is like a pokemon, there are going to be many evolutions for him and that’s EXACTLY why I love him so much. I would sum him up in real life as Sensitive and Inquiring. 

- Jinhwan was just as feisty, cheeky and cute coy as I imagined. He was in high spirits, and I think he’d impressed himself with his english skills so he was very confident on stage, he really knew how to work the crowd. I really got a sense of his love of attention. He was so charming, cute and willing to indulge the crowd. I didn’t see his mum-side but I’m glad about that because I feel like he doesn’t need to be in that mode when all the boys are having fun on stage, he can just focus on being his naughty, sexy self. I would summarise him as Playful and Engaging. 

- Donghyuk was a total darling and omg he looks soooo handsome in real life. I really got a sense of his attentiveness towards the fans, he really did his best to engage with us, asking questions, complimenting the city he was in, joking around, singing other songs whenever he got the chance. Diligent and Caring, that’s DK in a nutshell. 

- June!!! So June was like Chanwoo and Yun, they kinda let the other boys take the floor and lead the show. Totally fair enough. I can’t begin to imagine how vulnerable one must feel when you have no idea wtf the being said and you’re up there on stage with everyone watching. Two things with June. One, I could NOT believe how dramatically handsome he was in real life. Like, his raven-black “comma-styled” hair, the way it contrasted so boldly with his pale skin, his muscular tallness, the way his white t-shirt hung off his frame so casually yet perfectly, his striking brows, strong profile and chiseled jawline...like, he was GODLY.  Out of this world. From another universe. He was stunning. In terms of the vibe he gave me in real life: Cool and eccentric. 

- Yun!!! Bless him!!! I really just wanted to hear more from him...although i totally get why he didn’t have the means to express himself more. But what he couldn’t communicate through words he really poured into his singing and interaction with the fans. I was really impressed by his voice live, he has such a nice warm tone. And he really put heart into his lines and high notes. His showmanship was very impressive. I would summarise him as heartfelt and emotive. 

- Chanwoo was SO SO gorgeous in real life. Even from where I stood at the back his eyes stood out so well. He was reserved but not lacking in confidence, he was shy but also very sincere and sweet. His vocals were brief but his husky tone is awesome. I would summarise him as observant and alert. 

- Overall Seeing them was really amazing, it was such a positive experience. All I feel now is the bittersweetness of it all. Before I didn’t know what it was like to miss them, that wasn’t something I had to deal with being a distant aussie fan. But now I’ve seen them twice in three days, I now know what that is like to be in their presence. And honestly, I miss them so much already. my heart feels bruised. Laaaaaaaame. 

p.s. @mvssmallow I hope you have regained hearing in your left ear. I’m sorry I yelled so loud and so consistently throughout the ENTIRE show. You’re a legend for putting up with my drunken nerves.

This song is extremely meaningful and Namjoon’s voice sounds breathtaking. This was Namjoon’s reflection of the B-free incident. He mentions how he shouldn't take B-free’s hate to his heart and not to over think criticism. In the beginning he sounds really hurt but omg towards the end he is going hard, and it gives me old school rap vibes.

3. Unpack your bags by Rap Monster

This song is a huge middle finger to the underground rap community who looks down on idol rappers. This was a collab with the show 4 things where he mentions how hard it was him to pursue hip hop. He mentioned 4 struggles he faced in the industry. Check out the episode, the show also shows how he interacts with his producers and Bang PDnim and this was where the really famous “ Solo, or Bangtan” moment was born. We really got to know Namjoon as an artist personally and his teenage days.This is complimented with a really cute music video.

4. P.D.D (Please Don’t Die) by Rap Monster

This is a track where he collabed with Warren G  prior to his mixtape in L.A and this gives me chills because of that prominent West Coast feel. Check out the MV and the naver behind the scenes.

5. Something by Rap Monster (a.k.a my all time favourite song I don’t know why tbh)

HOLY SHIT THIS SONG TAKES ME WAY BACK! I feel as if nowadays the producers really autotune Namjoon’s singing voice and make it really shaky but hear you can prominently really hear his singing skills and It is such a sexy love song. It really gives your romantic feels and reflects on a sad teenage love story.

6. Where u At by Rap Monster

THIS IS SUCH A MEANINGFUL SONG. 

Here we have high school Namjoon talking about how school has gotten the best of him. In a culture where education and status are everything, he talks about letting his parents down and confessing to his relatives about his future in Hip-Hop. Its an extremely relatable track where you think about where you want to head in the future.

WINGS Tour in MNL: Concert Experience

I started attending concerts since 2010 but I must say, Wings Tour (and HYYH actually) is one of the most memorable and longest hangover I've experienced so far. If you're a fan who deeply understands their music, I don't need to explain, and if you're not, I can't easily explain.

So I don't remember everything that happened in the concert but I do have the memory of being an emotional potaeto, especially it was the time I was lowkey having difficulties and it was a perfect timing to loosen up and to be inspired.

Mini Birthday Celebration

I came with my two girls, Jen & Rej but we were separated since Jen got PR and Rej & I got two slots for Standing on May 7, 2017. Before we all entered MOA Arena, we ate lunch at Healthy Shabu-Shabu (Thanks for the treat Jen!) then we accompanied Jen to the PR entrance since they need to start earlier than us for the soundcheck. It was a first to attend concert without her beside me so I'm like ㅠㅠ.

Moving on, since Rej and I were left, we went to SMX (and there was a feast, sayang) to freshen up and wee all what I can wee, haha! If you're always thirsty like me, welcome to the family! BUT I'M THIRSTIER WITH BANGTAN, SO HERE WE GO. 💃

Preparation

Skipping the long wait while at the queue, when we got into the venue, we were close enough to the extended stage and we're at the back with fellow funny ARMYs who were telling jokes about Bangtan so I DIDN'T MIND. 😂 Then I prepared all my weapons an ARMY should have, heh. I got my ARMY Bomb and my phone. That's all! 'Cause it's hard to move when you're literally bumping everyone else.

Since I don't remember the sequence and everything, I'll just point out my highlights!

Dim the lights!

❄ Not Today Oh my gosh, I went straight to section B from D (there was no barricade by the way)! It's hilarious but when you're fan you do crazy things. They always perform at the main stage but I HAD TO SEE THEM CLOSE WITH NOT TODAY. That's just my jam! I can't believe I saw that live.

❄ Begin Jungkook started the solo performances and I DID NOT EXPECT THE SONG WOULD BE PERFECT TO DANCE TO (with JK it's perfect of course). His voice sounded the same with what they’ve recorded for the album but with extra breaths which made it hot. LOL HELLO SPG. And the lights were perfect. Oh, I can't help but notice these things as well.

❄ First Love If you know me, I love Yoongi. His performance was magical - that word popped into my head when he started singing. I don't know why but he has a different effect on me. Maybe because I know his songs have always something to do with his experiences, I know they all are but he's...different.

❄ Lie Caught in a lie~ I was pretty distant from the stage at that time but I definitely saw Jimin being lifted like a diva!

❄ Reflection Omg I don't remember much but I remember I stopped being busy with my phone's camera and enjoyed it. And there was a time I thought he was lip syncing because as I watching him on the screen, his voice didn't match his mouth movements but I figured there's always a delay. Oops. 😶

❄ Stigma This was one of the things I'm looking forward to! I was trying to look at him but all I saw was arms, phones and a little Taehyungie nailing the high notes. 😭 Again, I dropped my phone and just sang with him.. And that very manly voice when he said, Why did you do that to me then?/geu ttae nahante wae geuraesseo? GOODBYE.

❄ MAMA I was surprised to see Hobi at the front stage near us and he was the only one among the members who performed there. It was a fun stage and he was wearing this shiny clothes while dancing and when he went to the main, like everyone else, he sang in a capella and the camera was focusing on his face, I WAS STARING AT HIM VIA SCREEN AND I THOUGHT HE'S GONNA CRY. I swear, I saw his sincerity in his eyes. Omg that moment was too precious. 💖

❄ Awake Okay, last but not the least. Seokjin always exceeds my expectation with his vocals and I FELT MY EMOTION LOSING OUT OF CONTROL BECAUSE I RELATE TO THIS SONG.

...and the CHORUS. What made it more unforgettable was when Rej, raised her right hand like she's worshiping. LOL AND I THOUGHT I WAS REALLY IN A FEAST WITH JIN. LMAO.

Taking a break from their solos, how can I forget them speaking in Tagalog.

After their solo stages, they performed multiple songs like 21st Century Girls, Dope, Save Me, Fire, I Need U, Danger, No More Dream, BST and most especially Lost.

❄ Lost It had struck me the most because it describes me, as a person, struggling with what path I am taking ahead. It tells how a person can be lost, frustrated and uncertain but at the same time believing that he needs to get lost before he finds the right path. Basically, Bangtan says, wherever this path will lead you, it will eventually take you to the right place.

I didn't see the whole performance well but it was already enough that I can hear them singing the song that means a lot to me and I lost it. It felt good that in some way they were like trying to convey the feelings I've been keeping to myself. I love this song so much.

🔥 CYPHER PT. 4 I AM SO HYPED WITH CYPHER. CAN I GO BACK AGAIN RIGHT NOW? 😭😭😭 I LOVE, I LOVE, I LOVE MYSELF. I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW MYSELF. YO PLAYER HATERS, YOU SHOULD LOVE YOURSELF BRR! I WAS DANCING TO IT LIKE I DIDN’T CARE COZ THIS WAS MY MOST ANTICIPATED PERF OF THE NIGHT. RAPMON, JHOPE AND SUGA NEVER DISAPPOINT.

The medley stage however was heaven-like 'cause I saw Jungkook rolling his body in one of the songs I already forgot. LOL But the important things is, I REMEMBER HIS BODY WAVING BEFORE MY EYES. 😇😇😇 He fed me well, thank you very much. And Jin OMG, he went over and because I was startled (my heart literally pounded), I TOOK TWO LITTLE STEPS BACK AND EVEN I WAS SHOCKED WHY I DID THAT. HE IS TOO HANDSOME TO HANDLE.

🌼 A Supplementary Song: WINGS Oh no, this was one of the last performances and that means I'm reaching the end of this account. When they sang Wings with a windy performance because of the hidden electric fans (haha!), they were playing around and they all danced freestyle during the bridge part. I cannot forget Yoongi's robotic dance (Split second forgot the existence of the dance-line).

Ahh, and it was so pleasing to know they're having fun, waving to the fans and playing around with members, TAEHYUNG MAKING FACES IN THE CAMERA. Also, it was so funny when Jhope said, Kayo ang aming mga pakpak! Then he kept on chanting, joined by Jimin, the word Pakpak and we were chanting Ganern Ganern. I bet they didn’t know it, did they?

🌼 ...Better Days Are Coming This is extra special because I witnessed how ARMYs came together and I know the gist of this song can be easily understood - it's about holding onto each other until it gets better. I love when ARMYs are singing while Bangtan is holding out their mics out in the air.

🌼 Encore: Spring Day I savored the last moments of Wings Tour... 70% STARING AT TAEHYUNG. I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF. But the moment they were bowing their heads, I know I'm gonna miss them again. They bowed 90 degrees and wore those cute little headbands while waving goodbye to us. OH I HATE SAYING GOODBYE TO THEM COZ IT MEANS I’M GONNA WAIT ANOTHER YEAR TO SEE THEM AGAIN (not that I complain because $$$.........).

Thoughts

They have no idea how much they affect my life through their songs because they totally know how to communicate through music and it has been one of my strength and inspiration pills. They're unlike other groups I've known for the past years since I became K-music fan. LOL This is the first time I can relate my life to songs and I admire them having the guts writing songs about dreams, youth, empowerment and political issues. They created this bond between them and the fans. ARMYs are witnesses on how they try to uplift our spirits and I hope they continue to create impact on a deeper level with other individuals, groups or even greater.

And I wouldn't have enjoyed and appreciated this much without The Yeobos - Jen and Rej, a good company who appreciate music and food! I’m giving my A+ and 💖 to them. I hope we can do it again all together. 😙

Where oh where do I begin? I try not to pick favorites, in anything I do. I think picking favorites sets people up for failure. I figure there will be one day another candidate outshines the favorite, resulting in disappointment. But fuck it, Father John Misty is my favorite. And I trust it because there is virtually nothing he can do wrong that would take that title away- and he does a lot of textbook things “wrong”.

Josh Tillman stole my heart when I heard “I’m Writing a Novel” on WFUV Radio when I was in college (around 2012) Not knowing much about him personally, I started listening to “Fear Fun” and fell in love with his music. “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” and “Everyman Needs a Companion” landed every mixed CD (yep, still made CDS in 2012) and I decided to dig a little deeper and actually check the dude out. WOAH he’s hot! WAIT he was in Fleet Foxes? OMG he has the exact the type of humor that I adore, equal parts witty, snarky and dark. Fuck, he has a girlfriend. I’m absolutely done, they’re getting married. I can’t remember a time I fell so hard for an artist post-emo/punk/highschool days (Think Gerard Way and Travis Barker). 

However, I’m really fucking glad he was and is in such a beautiful relationship because thats how his sophomore album came to be. i wasn't sure If I’d ever love an album as much as “Fear Fun” but lo & behold: “I Love You, Honeybear” took & continues to take the damn cake. Has there ever been an album (albeit, Rumours) that has described love so honestly? It talks about the honeymoon phase in depth, the ga-ga feelings and pedestals that we put our partners on in the beginning. The way new love helps us start to feel creative again, or creative in a new, fresh way. And then after time, how love can start to get a little paranoid and jealous. It’s messy, it’s raw and it sort of made me hate his beloved Emma (who eats bread & butter like like a queen would have ostrich and cobra wine. Fun fact, I heard this song for the first time freshly after ending a 4 year relationship. Bad timing? Nah, it actually was so beautiful and uplifting that the song gave me hope and made me feel secure that I haven't found the right person yet and that I didn't just lose that person (burn). It gave me hope that I’d eventually meet someone that I could picture having a satanic christmas eve with or dance around to a mariachi band with. Spoiler Alert: FJM did help me find love. I will get to that at the end. Any who, this album ruled and continue to rules my world. The title track “I Love You, Honeybear” is about taking on the shitastic world we live in with someone you love. “Bored in the USA” is about the absurdities within our pop culture and the bullshit promise of the American Dream gone wrong. The album as a whole is romantic and existentialist and I am 100%AboutThat.com

And then we were gifted “Pure Comedy”. I write that with a sigh. Not because I am disappointed but because It’s heavy. It highlights our current political and social climate and it does so in a very dark, darker than usual way. When he realeased the video for title track, “Pure Comedy” a few short months after the election I wept at my desk. The song itself is so eerie and fantastical with the baritone sax wailing the fuck off as Donald Trump’s face slyly pops up. I Think FJM is making the point that everything happening right now is so fucking ugly and wrong that it’s absurdly funny. Not haha-funny, just...funny. As in “something smells funny”, as in our country. He attacks religion, pop-stars (gotcha, Taylor Swift), environmental issues, the delusional lifestyle of LA inhabitants, you name it. But, in true Josh Tillman fashion, and we know theres a big beating heart in there, he ends the album in a hopeful way with “In Twenty Years or So”. In the song, Tillman addresses the cosmic indifference of the universe and the existential fear that comes with it. In the first two verses he sets up the great comedy: That despite all our grand gesturing and philosophizing (with the character of Father John Misty as the embodiment of this behavior), we ultimately don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Then in the second verse he starts to assign a little more meaning to the chaos.

I *think* he’s saying, “Look, the world is fucked, we’re only getting worse, it’s too much to handle, but thank god I have you to navigate it with. And we have music, and it really all is amazing, isn't it”. I’m sorry it sounds like a basic Audrey Hepburn wannabe annotation of his beautifully written song, but It comforts me. It’s like a really elongated and philosophic way of saying “All you Need is Love”, but The Beatles beat him to it.

All in all, “Pure Comedy” takes us through a (trippy) walk of life thats starts out as that scene in Willy Wonka where they’re all taking a boat ride through the tunnel of hellish images, to a calm setting where all you want to do is hug the people you love and be left with the simple yet complex thought, “it’s all going to be okay”. Bravo FJM for creating such a mature and powerful album. I think melodically it is not for everyone, as it is much slower that what he’s done. But give it a good listen through and really listen to what he’s saying. If 2017 had to sound like anything (besides screams and tears) it would sound like “Pure Comedy”.

OH WAIT, yeah I forgot this is a concert blog. Well! I saw him last night at the Kings Theatre in Flatbush, Brooklyn. A tremendously stunning place to see live music, in my opinion. He played most of “Pure Comedy” straight through, without any speeches or commentary. Nerd moment- I fuuucking love when artists do this with newly released albums. it shows they care about it, it shows they're not just trying to appease the crowd with favorites. It’s saying here is the art i just created and worked on for mad amount of time. Sit the fuck down and experience it. He did every song except the 13 minute “Leaving LA” (good call IMO) and the last two songs, yanno, the uplifiting ones. Then halfway through he broke out the oldies, a couple from “Fear Fun” and a bunch from “I Love You, Honeybear”. The whole theater was standing and dancing and watching HIM dance and holy shit I love when tall lanky men swivel their hips. Probably one of the best parts about seeing Father John Misty live is watching him break it down. He was even slow dancing with himself at one point during “Strange Encounter” and i was both turned on and hysterically laughing. One interesting point to make was that he was oddly quiet. He’s known for long on-stage rants, whether they're actually anger driven or just a comedy bit- they usually always show up on Pitchfork the next day. This was my third time seeing him and i’ve had the pleasure of hearing some of those rants and raves. This time he was quiet, appreciative and...mature? IDK I really liked it. I think it mimicked the seriousness of his newest album and demanded that you pay attention to the music and what it’s trying to say. I noticed a bunch of Brooklyn bros at the end of the show making comments like “he wasn't that funny!” “I thought he was going to talk more” and thats fine, but maybe consider why that is. After he came back on for his encore he played the last two songs on “Pure Comedy” and ended on a very special and postive note with a v sweet sun and moon setting in the background. Father John Misty is giving us hope.

Also I felt this deserved it’s own paragraph but his band absolutely blew me away. I would 100% go see them live without vocals. He had an entire orchestra + five piece band. Another additive to the experience compared to past Father John Misty concerts, as he’s always played with just a 5 piece band. It made the album come alive in the most spectacular way.

All in all, he is still my favorite. I hope to see much more from him in the future because I think he has a really really good thing going on on all levels. So back on the topic on Father John Misty and hoping to find love. JOSH, BABE. if you ever see this, I owe you some thanks. If it weren't for you and if it weren't for Tinder syncing my Facebook page likes, I never would have matched with my current partner whom we both share a massive and almost grotesque love for you & we wouldn't have anything to talk about on our first date, or a an album to makeout to for the first time. so really, thanks. SO’S GLEE EPISODE RANKING: NO. 12

I started a Full Glee Episode Ranking between seasons 5 and 6 over two years ago now (!!!). My opinions have changed somewhat since then (retrospect is an interesting thing), and I need to include the thirteen season six episodes I neglected in my original list.  With the two year anniversary of the show being over a few months away, I thought I’d count down to by posting an episode every day.  I’ll tag using: glee episode rankings

Here we go…

12. Guilty Pleasures (4x17)

Well -- here’s my top pick for Season 4.  And the thing I keep coming back to about this one is that it’s not only really funny, and a bit heartwarming, and I can pretty much sit through the whole thing without wanting to skip through anything.  Sure, the Rachel/Brody nonsense is a bit eye-rolly, but it’s at least nice to be done with it.  Otherwise, the rest of this episode is pure crackiness -- and this is (obviously since it’s near the top of my list) the type of Glee I really enjoy.  Though instead of the crackiness usually being one plot line -- it’s all of them! 

So - there’s the Blam story line, where Blaine and Sam not only kick off the whole guilty pleasures theme of the episode, but we get the resolution of Blaine’s crush on Sam -- and I really love everything about it.  It’s nice that they let Blaine and Sam being relatively low drama.  I’m of mind this was kind of a redo of how they handled the Kurt/Finn stuff earlier in the series (not that that was bad or wrong -- just that this is mellow-er and more uplifting? Less dramatic?) Anyway...it’s such a fun story. 

Meanwhile, everyone else is chatting away about their guilty pleasures, too, and we get a lot of little cracky moments, and fun things to do, and it really uses the ensemble well, especially putting the old characters in with the newbies.  It’s around this time that I did start to enjoy the newbies, because everyone was doing stuff together. 

Meanwhile over in New York -- the theme of guilty pleasures continues!! Why couldn’t they figure out how to do sprawling thematic things before? Idk. But we get Kurt and his boyfriend arm and his cheesy sitcoms and his banter with Santana and all is wonderful.  

The stuff with Rachel and Brody comes to head (finally, thank god)  It’s probably the weakest (idk if weakest is the right word, least enjoyable?) part of the episode, but I’m so happy it’s over, I don’t even care.  Brody had been a dead weight since....idk, most of this season? But I think the best part is Rachel coming to the conclusion that she isn’t as grown up as she think she is, man I’m glad that Rachel’s season 4 story isn’t about her being right, but her struggling to grow up, and I can get behind Rachel’s story so much better now.  

High Points:

Sam’s macaroni art.

I think Blaine’s crush on Sam is cute - and I really love the whole Blam story line in this one, and the resolution is so pitch perfect.

Brittany reigning in Kitty - also the return of Fondue for Two! Yes!

Kurt and his montage of guilty pleasures **chinhands**  Bruce!!

Sam liking Barry Manilow, lol - the look on Artie’s face is priceless.

I actually like the conversation the Jake plot has about how we should view art when we don’t like the artist. 

Tina as Vicki the Robot Girl -- omg, talk about deep cuts.  

The end of Brody!! YAAAAAAYYYY! 

Man - I would have watched an hour of Kurt and Santana watching old TV sitcoms. 

Golden Hoola-Hoop of Destiny! There was no Klaine in this episode.  But the fact that between the editing, and the subtle nods, it felt like it was an underneath current -- and it was nice to have. 

There’s no Will or Sue in this episode.  I think that speaks volumes. 

Low Points:

Why didn’t Kurt and Santana have more pacts? Why wasn’t New York more about Kurt and Santana and less about Rachel? Also - why does season four have a trend of taking Kurt stories and turning them into Rachel stories by the end? **sigh**

Brittany continually calling Unique Mercedes.  No, Glee. Not funny. 

Music:

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go: Blaine and Sam sing Wham! And it’s so much fun in all its 80s glory. 

Copacabana: Not a personal favorite song, but Sam does well, and it’s hilarious how they act out the song in the performance. 

Against All Odds: It’s a lovely Blaine solo.  (Yup, that’s all I’m saying for now.)

Wanna Be: Spice Girls! Lots of points for the costumes.  Again, the girls sound good, and it’s really fun to watch.

My Prerogative: Jake’s dancing is always great to watch.  Not a personal favorite, but it’s well done. 

Creep: This is my kind of WTF moment of this episode? Does this song make sense as a break up song? I...don’t think so? It’s weird, but it kind of fits in with the weirdness of this episode. 

Mamma Mia: Yes! I love this group number! It’s kind of a perfect way to end this awesome episode. 

Final Verdict: It’s got great music, and cracky stor lines, and is just all around a lot of fun.  Yup, definitely the best of season 4.
