There's something so profoundly beautiful in the names Starchaser and Sunseeker even outside of the Jegulus context.

The stars and sky always left me feel a little bit melancholic, even when I was a kid. So these ship names make me a little bit sad but in a happy way.

The way you look at old pictures and think about those good times.

The way you look at someone's smile, and already miss that moment even before it passes.

The way you look up at the sky and stars, and feel so small under all that beauty and it doesn't even scare you, only makes you wonder if it was meant for us to see.

The way you look up at the sky and catch indescribable feeling in your chest, knowing that you wouldn't be able to capture that beauty, not really. You can take pictures and look up every day, but it's always going to be out of reach. Looking at you from above and making you wonder.

The way the stars represent something eternal, something that will remain in this world even after we are no longer here. It's a constant reminder of something, for each person it's their own.

"Don't get me started on jegulus" actually please get started I'd like to hear your thoughts on it because your take on wolfstar and the oc-ification of some characters is so refreshing to see (tbh my first reaction to jegulus was just confusion on how it started and how quickly it got popular lmao)

ahh this makes so happy to hear that my post resonated with some people!! Was worried i was in the minority lol.

Anyways, abt jegulus -- i acc had a reaaally long post about how much i hated the dynamic (in canon compliant ish works -- Jegulus in aus is fine ig) but i deleted it lol.

I think the core reason why i dislike the pairing so much is that I feel like it the ship goes against everything James stands for. We don't know a lot about James' character in canon, but what we do know is that he had a strong sense of justice, and fierce loyalty to his friends and his cause, which ultimately led to his doom. I just can't imagine that James would associate with someone even a little bit bigoted. This is not to say i think James is a saint, i think he could be an ass sometimes (snapes worst memory lol) but i think he'd draw the line at someone who was associated with 'evil'. James had a very black and white view of good and bad and i just don't think it would make sense for James to date reg, esp as he is becoming a death eater. James may be a dick but he is also the biggest ally to ever ally !!

The only jegulus fics I have read are 'Just Lovers' and 'Choices'. Just lovers is a non-voldy au so i don't really have a problem with their dynamic there but choices on the other hand,, oh boy.

Regulus' friends rape Mary. And instead of feeling disgusted on the victim’s behalf, (who has been his friend for 5 years) James instead feels upset because it tarnishes the ‘good’ image he has of reg in his head. Thing is when a similar situation happened (The Prank ™), James was upset that Sirius would do such a thing but he also felt disgusted on behalf of Remus. Where was that energy here, huh?? I’ve even seen comments villianising Mary (the rape victim).

The thing I also hate about their dynamic is that it is basically an ally of the oppressor and ally of the oppressed. The problem with that is that when you are allied with the oppressor, you become an oppressor yourself (and reg does; he does terrible things) and that subsequently makes the so-called ally of the oppressed in cahoots with the oppressor as well. This brings so many parallels to real life where people say that they are an “ally” but become friends with/date a racist/rapist. “Oh but they’re nice to me”. its just a little ew.

And in other jegulus canon-compliant-ish fics, sometimes instead of James' character being watered down its Regulus' character. Like, he's not as morally grey, not as complex etc so it makes sense that James would agree to date him. I feel like jegulus as a ship ruins the core of what made their characters so interesting in the first place.

That being said,,, i do love me some canon-compliant unrequited jegulus. Regulus goes to hogwarts, gets so mad at Sirius for ditching him or whatever, but falls in love with the very guy that stole sirius away. He also has internalised homophobia because he's a Black brother so imagine the angst. James potter goes against everything he stands for,, sirius betrayed him,, but perhaps they're right abt smth?? Perhaps he needs to do smth. alone.

sorry for rambling but these are my thoughts on jegulus !! Anyways I feel like I should reiterate that this is a personal preference!! I think it ruins core of these characters, i prefer jily and i love me some unrequited gay pining for the boy who you're brother replaced u with. But this is just a personal preference !

oh and just a side note if it ever led to a decision where james had to choose between sirius and regulus -- no matter how much he 'allegedly' loved regulus, he would choose sirius, no questions asked.

Canon I outright reject

So, if we're going with strict book-canon, then the fact that he's actually forgiving of Snape and trying to get everyone to make friends with him. No. They hate each other. It's mutual. He probably hates Snape more than Sirius does. If Remus plays nice it's entirely self-serving.

However, if we're going canon in its entirety: the whole revelation that he's an incel can go right in the trash.

2. A canon or headcanon hill I will die on

Remus is some flavor of neurodiverse and I will die on that hill. I honestly flip flop between ADHD and Autism for him, but tbh I can read him as being both, because if you're gonna be neurospicy why restrict yourself to one, right? But between the trash-in-pockets, the info-dumping, the impulsivity, the explosive emotions, the CATASTROPHIC TIME BLINDNESS - yeah sorry he's one of us, I don't make the rules.

I mean. [gestures at his entire life.] But in all seriousness, he wouldn't go. If he did, it would be because he was dragged kicking and screaming and it would be ostensibly for relationship counseling (because the man has some deep-seated trust issues with everyone up to and including himself.) And he'd probably spend at least 3 sessions managing to dodge or deflect every probing inquiry until the therapist manages to hit on the exact right button to press entirely by accident, and the precarious Jenga tower that is Remus' psyche comes crashing down. And then progress might happen and he might be persuaded in a moment of weakness to actually pursue treatment for real-real, in which case it would be primarily to address his C-PTSD stemming from werewolf shit and the war/everyone he loved fucking dying. (I will also caveat this by saying that therapy is only happening in a Remadora-or-other situation, canon-Wolfstar would just quietly destroy each other until death did them part, and they'd be grateful for it.)

Easy. The first moon the boys ran with him. It was a huge show of trust and friendship, and actively made his transformation more bearable. The hope that would have ignited in him must have been incredible. Anything else would either have been secondhand or marred by anxiety/grief in the moment.

Also easy: the night he was bitten. Not even necessarily on purpose, mind you, I just have a very strong HC that he does not actually remember the circumstances surrounding the attack, and just remembers flashes, and the sensation of being bitten. But this allowed his father to basically rewrite the narrative.

Do i ever oh my gods,,, ive currently got two floating around in my docs and man oh man. Im filled with joy and also frustration.

Ive got a short one thats been almost done for like two months now but i keep revising it, its the fist fic ive ever properly written and it started because i was just sooo tired of the miss communication in all the wolfstar fics id read till then. I titled it “Look at Me, Just Love Me” Its about 5k words right now, and its a first kiss fic that takes place in the marauders 6th year after a quidditch match. Its really honestly my baby.

The second is more just,, alot of planing and vibes with some first drafts floating around. I posted a snip of it earlier :)) its a wolfstar college au, strangers to friends to lovers. Lots of pining, lots of jokes and nonsense, lots of healing. The current title is “And Youre Broken, But Baby Ill Piece You Back Together” but its subject to change :) My pinned post was actually born from this wip and if the first is my baby this one is my full pride and joy :,) even if i dont finish it.

Im really glad i got back into this fandom because it really resurrected my love of creating and thats been a blessing tbh <3

Omfg thank you so much <333 I do try my best to stay fair and call out any toxic fans/shippers, even if I love the same ship/character. Tbh that was always just common sense to me; I shouldn’t ignore harassment/bullying or let it slide just because that person is “on my side.” If Snape fans were the ones who harassed Marauder stans and purposefully mistagged their posts, then I wouldn’t hesitate to call them out on their BS. A lot of my original thoughts on characters and ships were shifted once I saw their fandoms. All of the ships I genuinely hate are because of its fandom—funnily enough, two of my most hated ships are ships I used to enjoy/not mind but started to hate because of their toxic community (yes Wolfstar is included in this).

So many people have told me that I just call out Marauder stans who hate on Snape fans merely because I love Snape and don’t like the Marauders, but I swear it’s really not true. 😭 The reason I dislike Marauder stans as much as I do is because of their needless mistagging and disrespect towards Snape fans. I don’t give a crap about your fandom opinions, if you are minding your own business and are being attacked by a bunch of dickheads for no good reason, then I will absolutely defend you and call out those other people. If Snape haters were being attacked by Snape fans for no reason, I’d defend the haters and distance myself from the Snapedom.

How was life as a marauders fan? How and what was your thought process? and what made you become a Snape fan?

I have never been more curious in my entire life.

So it's a long story that goes back to DracoTok in 2020. I fell into that and it easily went from DracoTok to LupinTok. At the same time of LupinTok, SnapeTok was also becoming a thing, tho I didn't fall into it then.

As you can guess being obsessed with Remus can easily have you fall into the maraduers tik tok. Which I did, this was around the beginning of 2021 I believe. It started with text posts and stuff until I heard about Wolfstar.

I then started reading fics. Most of them were modern/muggle AU's then it went to angst and the like. I was knee deep in marauders tik tok and the fandom in its entirety. I was a James stan and like all the others believed he could do no wrong.

I was also a Snater tbh, I would go on rants to my sister about Snape. Him being a death eater and how if Voldemort didn't target Lily that Snape would have lived and died one of the most loyal death eaters. I was a little over the top with my hating. I hated him but that was my most used argument.

The marauders opened fanfiction reading to me and around June 2021 I read ATYD. It took me a week, this was around the peak of my marauders obsession and I started branching out a bit. I remember then reading a gender bent marauders fic and enjoying it.

Skip ahead to August of 2021 in which my family moved from Canada to Israel, we didn't have wifi for about a week and I had downloaded both The Auction and Manacled to my phone since someone told me to read it. I had not known it was Dramione, but that started that phase.

I was still a marauders fan but I didn't read it anymore. When I moved into a temporary apartment with a bunch of girls I found out one of my roommates read on ao3 and also liked Harry Potter. We would sometimes share fanfictions, tho we had very different taste in fanfictions. She told me about this fic she was reading in which Snape was Harry's biological dad and it piqued my interest.

It all went fast from here. I read the fic and became obsessed with the idea of Snape being Harry's bio dad or regular dad and fell down a quick hole into the severitus world.

I don't exactly remember the point in time in which I went from "Omg James Potter" to "omg Severus Snape" but I do know if shocked my sister when I came home one day and went on a whole ass rant about James Potter.

Y'know I wasn't like the other fans since I didn't argue with pro snape people or comment or bug them. I just kinda existed in that universe and died over those stupid "omg feminist James Potter would wear a skirt to battle dress code" posts.

I guess you could say what changed my mind was fanfiction. fanfiction shapes my mind surrounding characters a lot. Just ask @moonlightdancer26 of my opinions of Ron 🙈. It kinda showed me what it was really like for Snape in school and how similar he and Harry really was.

Idk if that is what you asked but like I haven't done one of these in forever and I've had a long day touring the Knesset and the Israeli Supreme Court 🙈🙈🙈.

The things I did by Lolo-ro fic review

Chapter by chapter, until i got distracted by the story lol.

Still fairly new to marauders but am loving it.

summary review: I truly adored this fic, probably my fave Wolfstar so far. I thought the worldbuilding was fantastic, as well as the characterization of baby Harry. Fairly angsty, but with plenty of fluff to make up for it. The raising Harry idea is becoming one of my favorite tropes, and this fic did an amazing job of weaving parenthood into a world that is still filled with complexities and evil, as well as lives outside of the main characters.

Chapter One

Again, the aftermath for Remus is getting me

So so so sad, and him believing Sirius innocent  makes it worse

The traitor shit is horrible to deal with emotionally im sure

I am upset to realize just how much remus ignored harry in the books/canon

Chapter Two

Aw he’s doing a good job as a dad

This fic is making him out to be very forgetful, fully forgot about both harry and Sirius

The pacing is much more clear in this which I enjoy quite a bit

And I talked to you kate about this earlier but remus has been different in other fics and I do kinda like him in this one, he’s more depressed and stressed than normal, but the forgetfulness almost lends itself to aloofness in a way that fits him

I very much appreciated him being so kind to Sirius. While I understand him being pissed at him for thinking he’s a traitor, the man is in Azkaban, like you’ve got to chill out, talk to him about this stuff when you have more than 15 minutes and less dementors

Anyway that scene was nice, I like the idea of their little family

Chappy 5

Good shit again

THIS is the perfect chapter length, not so long I forget what happens but no so short I have to stop reading every five seconds to review

The werewolf prejudice is a big thing in this fic, im not sure how I feel about it. Obviously from an equality standpoint, werewolves should be seen as human. Yet, there is something to the idea that the actual transformed wolf is very dangerous. I’m worried the wolfsbane study will be viewed as Remus “hiding himself” or something like that, when it should be viewed as a solution to the one thing holding werewolves back.

This can’t be compared to real life discrimination. You can’t be like “so you hate minorities” because none of the minorities I know turn into wolves once a month bruh

Anyway, Dumbledore being morally grey-ish, making mistakes but always anti-voldy. He’s such an interesting character. I like his presence in the book as well. Hagrid should come back soon he’s so nice.

Chap 6

Permanent pass <3, so cute. Having to abandon muggle friends? Not cute. Fuck Dumbledore, but only like a little

Not a dumby stan or hater tbh hes just a little silly in both directions

I’m so conflicted on this situation. Yes, it SUCKS that Sirius thought remus was the spy, but it’s not necessarily damning. It’s likely he convinced himself of it because it was the most painful option so it must’ve been the truth. It seems like fear, almost, and jealousy of the wolves over him? Might be over analyzing and overomanticizing but that is what im seeing atm.

The teaching position goes fucking CRAZY man, If remus was my history teacher my life would be GOLDEN

Chapter 7

Jesus fuck I forget how sad all this shit is sometimes

To begin with, the teaching position seems great. I do wish Remus would understand that he’s qualified for it

Speaking of teachers, I would love to see who the DADA teacher is, I know its not permanent but still fun

Anyway, I think 7 kids would be the end of me. I love children, and I still relate to Remus far more than Arthur in that scene, there’s actually no fucking way.

Like yes give me a shot I cannot do it, the strong drink joke was a good cover because I am sure its Arthurs greatest desire

Also, love him just dropping interest about muggles, would love to see that chat actually play out but it seems unimportant

Azkaban visit was good, Sirius is being less racist, and Remus is being kind. Wish they would love each other again already but slow burn wins <3

There’s a whole lot of forgetting in this fic im realizing, very relatable

I would actually kill myself

I’m sitting here pondering how I would react in this situation and genuinely tweaking just imagining it

He needs to go break it off with him, he can explain, there’s not really another option for him. If he maintains this it’s going to end poorly. I’m assuming he’s going to do that anyway, as it creates the most drama and is fantastic for the plot

I do think Remus is underestimating the importance of being taken even somewhat seriously by the Wizengamot. I know it’s not what he fully wanted but it’s legitimate progress.

Chapter ten

WHAT DID I SAY HE’S NOT GONNA TELL HIM

This chapter INFURIATED ME

Snape is a piece of work, obviously. Like Remus isn’t being shitty to you and you were a fucking death eater man. Also he despises children which is a red fucking flag

Chapter 11 & 12

Actually devastated reading this im going to be honest

Lots of shit going down, forgetting and memory issues are such an interesting plot device, it makes any part of the story unreliable, and confuses the reader just a little bit. It also creates a lot of dramatic irony, which can often be very sad and tragic

Also, order members calling voldy “Voldemort” all high and mighty is a bit strange considering that they all chewed harry out about calling him “He Who Shall Not be Named”

Snape stole the parchment read it and slipped a potion into lupins chocolate that he would give to Sirius to sabotage their relationship

Bc Dumbledore told Snape everything as his extra special spy obviously

Ok so I was wrong it was dementors again. And remus told Sirius about the breakup. Which is, the right thing to do I guess

This is so hard for everybody man, Sirius’ perspective is heartbreaking

At least it shows his chats with dumby, who happens to be the funniest person in this fic

Chapters 13 & 14

Reconciliation came a bit too easily but thats alright, I want them to be happy

The amount I would give to receive a cat for Christmas. I want that so bad bruh.

Ok at least they’re acknowledging how bad Remus is with dates

Okay him being a dog seems helpful, I do feel like that should have been noticed a while ago

Honestly am feeling a bit lost in the romance, long distance pining is not my fave but hopefully Sirius will be freed before long and they can be happy for once.

I just am so curious as to why they broke up, I know thats the point but it just doesn’t make sense

Also ignore my random theories I keep throwing about, I dont actually believe snapes cat is regulus or that Snape poisoned Sirius its just fun

Chapters 15-16

They explained the plan so I know it will go horribly wrong

The memories are throwing me for a loop. On the one hand, everything is devastatingly sad. On the other hand, they’re all being emo and need to get it together

Sirius getting “lost in his memories” is a cool idea though, I’m liking the new magic thats being explored in this fic

I need them to have a huge blowup fight. Like a massive fight that sucks and is terrible. I don’t know how they’d do it but I need it

Also I think I can take one more “oh poor Sirius” memory until I blow my brains out. Big whoop your plan failed and you were insecure about it, I’d reach out to the closest person to blame to. I blamed [REDACTED] for not winning an award at model un, not his fault. Sirius can blame Remus for his plan failing and have a moody moment then move on, trust can be rebuilt.

Last five chapters

Ok everything is happy again and the reunion went FANTASTIC

The one thing I feel like I haven’t commented on enough in this fic is Snape

His character is well done, he’s so mean and bitchy but not like completely evil which is just hilarious, I love his and Remus’s dynamic its very good

I also think his relationship with Harry is funny, and I’m glad it’s not as shitty as it started out.

“Harry, friendly and bright-eyed, took the opportunity of silence to lean onto the counter, put his face right up to the goblin’s, and say, “Meow.”

Remus pulled Harry off the counter, embarrassed, and plopped him on the ground. “Don’t meow at people, love.”

That is actually the silliest cutest thing I’ve ever read in my entire life. Literally would birth a child rn bc of how cute that is. Jesus fucking christ bruh

Can they stop making out in public. Like in front of one other person in public. Its so awk

Why can I not escape my Draco phase. One sentence about “the little Malfoy” and harry going on playdates and I RUSH to think about how that changes their school dynamic and how they treat each other and all this shit

Looks like they’re leaving some loose ends on purpose, telling not showing a lot here at the end tbh

My favorite parts

ANGST: very well done, miscommunication can sometimes be overdone but I feel like it worked this time. I loved how easily apparent the love that was still there was. 

Humor: This fic made me laugh out loud multiple times. This was mostly Harry, but there were a couple of moments from the doctor guy and Arthur that made me giggle

CHILD: literally have never seen a child portrayal that was this good. Like literally from beginning to end it was good. I’m sure some people would read this fic and say 2 yo harry is too advanced, but he’s so bright and I feel like growing up with Remus would breed him to be a talker. The accuracy of the 8 yo and 11 yo at the end was good as well, it ticks me off when people fuck up ages of a child, especially one so parenting-focused as this

Depth of world building: I could truly see this world, like I understood the flat, I understood the weasleys, I understood the dorm at Hogwarts. The scene at their graves, everything was great.

Now my weaknesses

Some underdeveloped plots

Peter: they brought up having to talk to him, made it a big deal with getting a memory and then just abandoned it and said “remus had the perfect memory.” Then, the memory was SO MUNDANE. I’m sure the author just fucked up and had to figure something out, which is fine, just was a little dissapointing.

Poison: this is another where I think the plot just ran away from the author, but I was expecting something more than “Sirius asked them to fix it and they did”

Some(?) characterizations

Remus was perfect. Sirius was a little too nice, he’s volatile and little bitt crazy and I got less of that in this fic. Sometimes it was perfect. This isn’t really a criticism, more “it could be a little better”

Overall: 8.3/10

I truly adored this fic, probably my fave wolfstar so far. However, I know this is just because I love children and loved baby harry so much, so my rating is attempting to be unbiased.

(also I wrote tonks / lily for efficiency sake but I do think it would be an interesting ship to explore!). for me - my priority in HP is sibling relationships tbh and FRIENDS. like I wrote a romance and 80% of it was about platonic relationships. also - I dislike how people are like 'mlm is for straight women!' and erase the fact that so many women writing mlm are queer (that was in a reply re: wolfstar), as shown by statistics (which you probably have, you are so clever!)

ahhh thank you that means a lot! glad my hard-earned wisdom from my (one year's 😂) long experience shipping both remadora and wolfstar is coming in handy LMAO. but seriously - fandom Means Something to so many people and that's wonderful, that shared passion and excitement and joy and connection and vulnerability, but the flip side of that, when it means different things to different people, the "why don't you see this the way i do?" / "how can you not care about this as much as i do?" / "why does this not mean the same thing to you as it does to me?" hits so much harder. i get it, it's a horrid feeling!

but i've realized that what often comes across as remadora bashing/ erasure from some wolfstar folks is really them trying to say, in maybe not so many words, that canon acknowledgement / a happy ending for wolfstar would really have meant a lot to me, and therefore i am creating in fic what i would have wanted to see on the shelf/on the screen, just these small ordinary happinesses that's been denied same-sex couples over and over and over and over, in mainstream media and in real life.

and conversely, often what remadora shippers are trying to say is that remus and tonks, individually and together, mean a lot to me too, and so it hurts to see tonks' character sidelined/ assassinated even more than it already was in the books, it hurts to see it repeatedly insinuated that just because it's het m/f makes it automatically less queer, less 'cool,' less valid, less worthy of thoughtful consideration and affirmation and celebration, especially now that canon is long dead and buried and the fandom has really become its own thing.

(i don't know the jegulus and jily fandoms well enough to say, but.. you get the idea)

are gay people and same-sex relationships discriminated against? absolutely. are women a marginalized group? for sure. what about bi people, especially bi folk in m/f relationships? oh gosh don't get me started.

but. one side claims misogyny, the other claims homophobia, something something 'protecting male friendships,' something something biphobia, … it's tiring. it's the oppression olympics and i'm not about that (especially in this fandom! this fandom!!! of all places!). i'm tired. everyone has scars and hurts and is just trying to have a nice relaxing self-indulgent time. i would love for more people to read/write femslash, fic about the actually unlikable or morally complicated characters, and dark fic, but more than that i want people to enjoy themselves and be happy in fandom! ship and let ship. write whatever you want. don't want to read it? don't read it. fandom is for joy and silliness and fun. and for writing and gifting me james/lily/peter fic, obviously 😊
