Trick or treat! (Stargate SG-1 edition, especially any fic ideas or headcanons)
Okay so I don't know if this will turn out as a headcanon, a fic idea, an outline, or something in-between BUT what it mostly is is an Excuse. :P So here goes
The first time Teal'c watches Star Wars, the team's been grounded for a week. Don't ask me why - maybe the Gate's shut down, maybe Jack and Sam have leave, maybe Daniel's been exposed to a strange space pathogen and is in isolation while they wait to see if it's deadly. Important thing is, they don't have missions and Teal'c (it's early days still) isn't allowed off-base.
Sam pokes her head in his room with a set of VHS tapes and says, "Hey, I brought some Earth culture you might be interested in!" Explains that Star Wars is a classic and even if he doesn't like them, it'll still be useful to know the references.
Teal'c, very bored and always willing to hang out with one of his comrades, agrees.
He likes Episode IV. There's good vs evil. They're fighting an evil space empire! He gets to see what kind of space combat the Tau'ri have made up for their stories.
He thinks it's kind of...charmingly idealistic? Like, there's an Evil Oppressive Space Empire but there's still enough freedom for Luke to have his ideals and Leia to have a government position (they HAVE a government?) and even Han gets to choose whether he wants to fight the Empire or just slip under its radar. It's a little hard for Teal'c to relate to, but he enjoys it. It seems very much like his friends' views of the world.
Obi-Wan reminds him of Bra'tac. :) Vader reminds him of Apophis. >:/ Teal'c sees something of his team in the main characters.
Episode V! Sam is Very Excited.
Vader is still alive? Teal'c is disappointed by what, honestly, seems like an incursion of reality. Why won't the evil galactic rulers ever ACTUALLY die when they look like they've died.
He's invested in all the action on Hoth, though. These heroes still read as very Tau'ri to him, with their emphasis on loyalty to their friends and their hope and all that. He wants them to succeed.
He does guess the Yoda reveal. A little too similar to the Nox. :P
Then it's back to Darth Vader on his evil spaceship and
Ah
Um
Darth Vader goes down on one knee and asks "What is thy bidding, my master?"
And they've taken plenty of pauses before while watching these movies, so Sam can answer questions about effects or plot conventions or other things lost in cultural translation, but this time when Teal'c says "Pause," he doesn't really have anything to ask. Just, "That...is the Emperor?"
Sam says, "Yeah," and they keep going. But suddenly the fun Tau'ri escapist fantasy is a little harder to watch, as Teal'c processes the fact that the villain of the piece to date isn't actually a System Lord.
Darth Vader is a First Prime.
Everything Vader does now leads to new questions Teal'c isn't sure the story even thinks it's raising. Like, does he want to be doing this? and Does he think he has a choice? and Why is he doing it? and How did he get to this position?
Teal'c watches Vader torture Han and tries not to think about his own past.
And then. AND THEN. You know what comes next.
(Turns out the movie did want him to be asking at least some of those questions about Vader.)
Turns out the evil Emperor's right hand is also a FATHER. He's the HERO'S father. But he also cuts off Luke's hand because the only option he'll apparently countenance is for Luke to join him in the darkness.
But he's a FATHER. He IS a person, not just a faceless villain. But does that make him better or worse?? If he's a person and he chooses to be part of the Empire, then all the questions Teal'c has about him have bad answers.
But also how is LUKE - the idealistic, hopeful shining figure of a Tau'ri hero - going to deal with his idolized father turning up on the Empire's side.
...Suffice to say, Teal'c is glad to see Han rescued and all at the start of Episode VI but he is REALLY REALLY waiting for expansion on the Vader plot.
Luke thinks there's still good in his father. Luke thinks he can SAVE him. Luke sees his father and he BELIEVES in him.
Listen. I believe in Teal'c's right to be a nerd, in general. I also believe that watching Vader say it's too late for him and Luke point-blank refuse to accept that is the MOST INVESTED Teal'c EVER is in experiencing any fictional story, ever.
And
LUKE IS RIGHT
VADER IS SAVED
Vader breaks free!! For his son!! Darth Vader hears his son's cries for help and is able to LISTEN and CHANGE and he is LOVED AND FORGIVEN AND ACCEPTED and he DIES FREE
The Emperor's enslaved right hand is REDEEMED and DIES FREE. That was the story all along
Anyway this is why Teal'c has watched Star Wars nine times. In conclusion.

Oh oh oh, what about a stargate fic where the reader is given like a truth serum off world and they end up blurting their feelings for Daniel? But like as well as really random stuff they would never say out loud (idk like 'teal'c you have really good arms' 'Carter, you always smell amazing', 'Jack I know I roll my eyes at your jokes but they're actually hilarious' - im really sorry these were the first things that popped into my head)?
a/n: no don’t apologize, i love this and those quotes so much! I hope you enjoy this <3
word count: 1.3k
warning(s): …none? fluff levels that could be dangerous however (title in no way indicates this will have angst, i just love lizzo)
Tumblr media
In hindsight, taking the cup from the Ancestral Leader in a world that valued truth wasn’t your brightest moment. You hesitantly took a sip of the swirling purple liquid that was shining in a way which should’ve made you nervous. The flavor burst on your tongue and your eyes widened, quickly gulping down half of the glass. You felt strangely relaxed, leaning back on one hand while the other swirled the cup in a fancy fashion. You and the rest of SG-1, along with the elders of this planet, were sitting around a low table, cushions lining the floor for comfort. A slight haze filled the outskirts of your vision but you brushed it off.
“Young Y/N, how does our totuus fare on your Terran tongue?” The name of the drink sparked something in Daniel, the archeologist sitting up straight with a cautionary expression on his face. Smiling, you laughed slightly.
“It’s absolutely delicious, Elder Myrsky, I express my thanks,” something bubbled in your mind and you found yourself blurting it out, “It’s almost as amazing as your fashion taste.”
The table went quiet, the Elder flushing slightly as he brushed his deep crimson robes with his hands. Teal’c looked at you inquisitively, his stoic face showing slight signs of concern. Sam smiled into her cup, Jack cleared his throat, and Daniel looked as if he had figured something out.
“Thank you, Young Y/N, your compliment brings me much joy,” The Elder smiled at you before waving for food to be served. Daniel looked in his cup before poking the food on his plate with the utensils given. He looked at you then looked at the Elder.
“Elder Myrsky, what exactly did you serve Y/N?”
The Elder paused his conversation with another Leader, looking at Daniel with confusion in his eyes. Jack paused from taking his drink, looking at his friend before sniffing his cups content.
“I thought I already named it? Totuus is our drink of truth, do you not have the equivalent in your world?”
“Not..exactly,” Daniel murmured before taking his glasses off to squeeze the bridge of his nose and then putting them back on, “You gave Y/N a truth serum?”
The words shot through you, making you choke on the totuus you were about to gulp down. Oh no, oh-
“Shit.” You exclaimed, before slapping a hand over your mouth and looking apologetically at Jack, who just waved you off, stuffing his face with food before hesitating. He swallowed and pointed at the food on his plate.
“Will this…?”
Myrsky seemed to understand his question, smiling at the Colonel.
“No, the totuus is only given to one who hides the most.”
Your team all simultaneously turned their heads to look at you. You turned your attention to your plate, pushing your food in an attempt to ignore their stares. Finally, after a few minutes, you sighed and laughed nervously, looking up.
“Oh come on, I don’t have anything to hide,” you scratched the back of your neck, “It’s not like I love Daniel or anything or think that I would 100% let Teal’c crush me with his thighs?”
You felt your face heat up as you registered what you just said. Blinking once, you groaned, covering your face with your hands. You felt Daniel’s eyes boring into you and you heard Sam’s snicker.
“Can you..repeat that please?” Came Jack’s totally innocent tone.
“What, Teal’c has nice thighs. And arms. He has really nice arms.” You whispered the last part, despite the voice in your head screaming at you to shut the hell up. Jack snorted and you parted your fingers to peer through them, watching as Teal’c sent a smug look at Daniel before once more steeling his expression, bringing an arm to lean on the table, muscle bulging.
“That’s nice to know, and I agree, but let’s rewind that to what you said first.”
“...I love Daniel…” You whispered. The Elder nodded his head, saying something about how the drink's effect would wear off now that you had admitted it. Sam let out a cheer, making you look up at her.
“General Hammond owes me fifty bucks,” she said triumphantly, before looking at you with an expression that worried you, “So, Y/N, anything you want to say about the Colonel or me? To get it out of your system before the drink closes us off from your wonderful thoughts?”
Jack nodded, snapping and pointing at you expectantly.
“Guys, come on, stop it-” Daniel started but you interrupted him.
“Carter you always smell amazing which is weird because most of the time we’re running for our life, how do you find the time to smell like freshly picked mint? It’s not fair. But remember that one time I was in the med wing and you brought me cookies? I couldn’t eat them, it was like chomping on concrete but I crumbled them up and fed them to the nonexistent fish in Jack’s pond and never told you because I didn’t want to hurt your feelings because you were so happy to give me baked goods.”
Sam raised her eyebrows before shaking her head, chuckling slightly. You turned your attention to Jack.
“About that pond, we all know there’s no fish in there Jack but I still say yes everytime you offer because you always look so relaxed sitting in the really rusty lawn chair that you really need to fix before you injure yourself and it’s really nice. Also, you can’t sing. At all. Please stop trying to become the next Madonna because it’s never going to happen.”
Jack looked appreciative before changing to a faux insulted expression.
The rest of the dinner went smoothly, well as smoothly as a meal can get with you blurting out random thoughts every few minutes. After securing a scientific and military alliance with the Karelian people, your team crossed through the Stargate. Once you crossed the horizon, you felt a gentle grip on your elbow, leading you towards the med bay. Daniel had a determined expression on his face, his brow furrowed and blue eyes set in front of him.
“Whoa, whoa,” you said, halting in the hallway once your mind caught up to your movement, “you just sped past the General! And I’m fine, Daniel, Dr. Frasier doesn’t need to see me immediately.”
Daniel paused to stand in front of you, bringing his hand up to count on his fingers.
“One, I’m not in the military, legally Hammond can’t do anything to me. Two, you are not fine, you just had an equivalent of a neurotoxin in your system and three, that’s breaking protocol so yes, she does have to see you immediately.” He turned around and started walking, thinking you would follow him. But you stood still, crossing your arms and raising an eyebrow. He once more stopped and turned to face you a few feet ahead. There was tension until he sighed, running his hand through his hair, returning to stand right in front of you. When he made eye contact, you saw the vulnerability shining.
“Do you really love me?”
You smiled, stepping closer to him, reaching out to hold his hand.
“You think I would admit my appreciation for Teal’c thighs if I wasn’t forced to tell the absolute truth?”
Daniel snorted, a smile growing on his face. Normally, you avoided complete eye contact, but when his eyes met yours, you found yourself unable to look away.
“I love you Daniel, not just as a friend, and I completely understand if you don’t-”
“I love you too!”
The archeologist blurted out, his face turning red. You, in turn, felt heat rise on your face as you stuttered out a response.
“That’s nice, thanks. I mean-”
You heard a bellowing laugh behind you and turned to see Teal’c clutching his stomach next to Jack and Sam, who looked amused by your words and shocked at Teal’c reaction. Jack wiggled his eyebrows at you.
“Can you two just kiss already? We need to debrief.” Came the exasperated voice of General Hammond, who was standing behind Sam, Jack, and Teal’c, arms crossed over his chest with an amused expression.
Who were you to go against orders?
a/n: i hope you enjoyed this and that it was okay!!

How Stargate SG-1 would react to your they/them pronouns
Jack O'Neill: he's a little confused but he's got the spirit LMAO. I can easily see him trying to refer to you in conversation with you in the room and being like "so thEy... *side eyes you for confirmation and nods when you approve* and Carter were able to figure it out" (just an example). I should preface this post by saying I don't think anyone in SG command is bigoted or transphobic/enbyphobic and the only people who mIGHT give you a hard time would be the characters no one likes (like Maybourne or senator whatshisface I'm v new to this show lol only 3 seasons in soo) so fuck them lmfao. I give Jack a 8/10 ally score (an ally but still learning lol). (Also if anyone wants to see how SG-1 would react to a pride festival or other identities, please lmk!!)
Sam Carter: she's so sweet ahhhh I love her so much!!! 🥹🥹 Would 14/10 be so happy to support you and might even hold your hands in hers when you come out to her. She wants you to know she absolutely supports you no matter what. She might accidentally slip up and use the wrong pronouns so pls be kind to her, she'll feel so bad and she'll punish herself for messing up (someone protect this sweet soul 🥺🥺) Sam would do ANYTHING to show you that you are valued and respected at the SGC and she absolutely will smack down with a bigot who misgenders you on purpose (hold her back, Colonel!!) I give Sam 10/10 ally score and she most definitely would go to your first pride with you if you were nervous!
Daniel Jackson: dude this would not be a new concept to him whatsoever lmfao. His knee-jerk reaction to you coming out is probably to start rambling (he thinks he sounds more sensical than he does lol) about genderqueer/nonbinary/cisn't figures in history and mythology, which is his way of saying "you're not alone !!" but it can be,, a lot lol. He goes out of his way to make sure you know it is normal and not "unnatural" to go by they/them too 🥺 He would make the adjustment super easily and rarely ever slips up. (I can also see him in the past researching a historical figure, realizing they were trans, and that's where he got the smoothness of switching from. (it probably happened more than once, let’s be real.)) He definitely would get into heated verbal arguments with bigots about how normal trans/nonbinary-ness is in his eyes (as he should) and Col. O'Neill would have to hold him back from it becoming a physical altercation LOL. Side note: now that you came out to him, expect random ! bouts ! of queer ! trivia !! because he probably doesn't get to talk about it that often and he's just like !! ahhh!! a queerio to geek out with!! Overall a 9.5/10 ally score, just docking 0.5 points for anthropology-splaining queer history to you LMAO. I can definitely see him and Sam becoming your gender euphoria team and helping you feel comfy too!
Teal'c: I honestly don't know what to say except he gets it. It is done. He makes the change with a snap. He might even tell you the story of a transgender Jaffa warrior too if there is one! I think he definitely would say something like “I see no problem with this set of pronouns. If Y/N Y/L/N identifies as such, there should be no reason to deny them respect for their identity." (Teal'c is so nice 🥹🥹) I think if anyone purposefully disrespected you or misgendered you, he would go 0 to 100 and be like "In my culture, it would be well within my rights to kill you where you stand” and then Jack would show up again and be like "okay calm down" LOL. I can see Teal'c teaching you how to appear more masc if you're transmasc as well, like workouts and mannerisms and such, too! Teal'c is an 11/10 ally for me, and I would love to see him surrounded by drag queens at pride LMFAO.
Janet Fraiser: oh look, another amazing ally! She would have no problem referring to you as they and would hardly ever slip up! She's a 99.9% kinda girly LOL (get it,, germ killers,, she's a doctor,, hahahah...). Honestly the only time I can see her slipping up is if,, this is very specific,, if she's saving your life and needs to open up your shirt for the defibrillator LMAO yknow?? Which I think we can all excuse if she's literally in crisis mode saving your life!! Her brain isn't focused on pronouns right now!! Also! I think if you wanted to transition, she would refer you to her doctor friends who know about medical transition, and she would even help you with your hormone doses while you're on the base 🥹🥹 Even with checkups after off-world missions, she'd make sure you're super comfortable and feeling respected 😌 Janet is so sweet and I love her so much, I give her a 12/10 not bc I love her so much!! BUT bc she goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable in her care and in your body!! I can totally see Janet getting decked out in rainbows to go to pride with you too, don't ask why, I just can lol.
General Hammond: he tries!! Just forgive him, he's old LOL. No but he'd really try really hard even though he's not used to it and even though he slips up occasionally, there will be times where he goes out of his way to give you a heads up about when it might not be safe to be out as a they/them bby with certain people, like if a debriefing meeting involves someone who is vEry bigoted, he'll just kind of take you aside and be like "Y/N, I know your preferred pronouns are they/them (he absolutely would say "preferred" but he knows it's not optional 😌), but I would recommend not being out to the board we're meeting with today; they might not treat you as kindly as the rest of SG Command" (bless him for looking out for you 🥺🥺). He also kind of reminds me of my grandma in the sense that she sees me for who I am, but occasionally uses the wrong pronouns, but she’s a killer at getting it right through texts LOL. I give him a 8.5/10 because he's a real one and has proven it time and time again, and the effort is what counts 🥺 He might even put a little pride flag on a stick in his office pencil cup during June to show his solidarity 🥹🥰

I had such vivid dreams about Stargate last night
I dreamed two whole episodes and they were crazy
Took place in Las Vegas, at the Stratosphere mostly, that was fun
I've never been to the Stratosphere so I don't know what it's actually like inside, but in my dream the inside was taken over by bad guys (not sure if they were goa'uld specifically) and it was mostly a Sam and Jack pair of episodes, they were all taken captive and those two were the ones saving and taking care of everyone else
Cassandra was there, and there was a little kid version of Daniel somehow that everyone called Danny and he and Cassandra were besties
But adult Daniel was also there, they didn't figure that whole situation out before I woke up so I don't know what it was about
At one point they escaped the Stratosphere and stole a big SUV and there was this awesome car chase, Sam was driving with Cassie in the passenger seat, Jack and Daniel were in the back and Danny was on Jack's lap because he was really hurt or something
But then somehow time like reset to back when everyone was captured, but not for Sam and Jack. They panicked running around trying to find Cassandra and Danny before they realized everyone was a captive again
They found Teal'c and freed him and he started helping them look for everyone, but they split up after they all 3 found and released Cassie. Teal'c found Danny at the same time Sam, Cassie and Jack found Daniel, and they did daring escape attempts at the same time too
They all met up in the big room Daniel had been held in, but there was some big problem that left Daniel badly injured so he couldn't walk, and he started arguing with Jack to just leave him behind and Jack was like, "Nope, I'm not leaving you here, not this time" and at one point when they were all talking out the logistics of leaving they realized it could be done perfectly if they didn't have to help Daniel out and he looked at Jack so smugly and folded his arms and Jack was like, "Well, we're just gonna have to figure something else out"
Then everyone else fell asleep but Jack and Daniel, Jack was on watch, but he and Daniel just kept arguing about leaving Daniel behind until Daniel passed out from his injury and Jack sighed and then I woke up LMAO

If SG-1 were a Baking Show...
Jack: Plain vanilla cake.
The handful of standard ingredients are mixed with the flick of the wrist, filled into a mold, and baked in the oven. The last thirty minutes, Jack reads the latest edition of “Fishing Today” and shakes his head at the ensuing chaos around him. The cake itself doesn’t catch the eye – nothing fancy, nothing memorable – but the heavenly taste pleases the palate. Although the judges don’t believe him, Jack’s adamant there’s a secret ingredient he can’t tell anyone or he has to shoot them.
Sam: Soufflé.
Sam approaches baking like a science project: the recipe has been broken down into mathematical equations, the scale is calibrated, and all ingredients have the perfect temperature. Anyone who dares to disturb her receives a deadly glare and a not-so-friendly reminder that she knows twenty different ways to hide a body. Contrary to the scientific setup, the result knocks the judges’ socks off every single time regardless of whether it’s made with cherries or cheese. Except for that one time Sam tried a variation with blue jello.
Daniel: Ancient Egyptian date cake.
At any given moment, Daniel’s work station looks like a tornado passed through. How he manages to bake an edible cake in this chaos remains one of the great mysteries of the universe. The result is okay, maybe a tad too sweet and dry. But the judges go home with a profound knowledge of the history of the cake, its religious significance, and an ancient Egyptian curse word or two.
Teal’c: Family recipe from Chulak.
Nobody knows what’s exactly inside this cake. And after Teal’c replied with the blood of my enemies once, everyone’s afraid to ask any further questions. Despite his direct and straightforward approach, the result is a feast for the eyes: a moist brown base with creamy white frosting and golden ornaments on top. Based on looks alone, Teal'c advances one round, as no one dares touch the masterpiece, especially after the barely concealed threat to dismember anyone who voices criticism.
Jonas: Banana cake.
Actually anything with bananas. It starts at the chef’s hat, goes down to the apron, and ends with the banana-shaped timer. In a nutshell, the guy’s banana. And easily distractible. A few times, the judges have to steer a wandering Jonas back to his own station. The final result looks like a deflated football and is barely edible which the judges try to tell him but Jonas’ puppy-dog eyes melt their hearts. Therefore, he gets to the next round purely out of pity, and because one judge thinks he’s cute.
General Hammond: Mom’s apple pie.
At the beginning, no one would have thought that the old, burly man has so much talent and charm. With a permanent smile playing around his lips, he kneads the dough and slices the apples, while telling one or another anecdote from his rich life. He's the audience's favorite, and the judges love his pie, which reminds them of their own carefree childhood.
Janet: Rainbow pinata cake.
With a child at home, Janet has honed her skills and become a master of multitasking. In next to no time and almost simultaneously, she prepares the six differently colored batters, whips the egg whites and sorts the chocolate lenses. All the while trying to fend off Jonas who’s fascinated with the multicolored candy sprinkles. As the last seconds tick away, Janet lights the candles on her cake. And everyone agrees that just one slice of it would send a six-year-old into a sugar coma.
Cam: Macarons.
To the judges’ surprise, he’s the contestant to insist on baking macarons instead of a cake or pie as the rules require. After a lengthy discussion, Cam gets his will and starts with enthusiasm, a praise for his grandma and her baking skills constantly tumbling from his lips. Although he sets the expectations high, the result is underwhelming to put it mildly. What it lacks in taste, it makes up in quantity. Despite the harsh criticism from the judges, Cam doesn't let it spoil his mood. He’s just happy to be here and tell the world how awesome his grandma was.
Vala: - .
Vala doesn’t bake. She only entered the competition because of the prize money and because she really enjoys annoying the hell out of Daniel. In an elaborate scheme involving a false fire alarm, she tries to sneak in a devil's food cake. Since her work station is still squeaky clean, the hoax of course blows. In the end, Vala is disqualified and banned for life.

“I just got up too fast” for teen!sam please if you so desire?
Canon just gave me the perfect angsty opportunity for Sam to open up to the team about her history and her ED... and I've already established grief is a trigger for those habits... so have some adult Sam reaching out to her support system when she starts to relapse :))) TW for discussion of eating disorders and ED recovery, and some comments on body image.
˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗
"Sam!"
"Woah, Carter!"
Despite the fact that she'd intended to get off the floor, when Sam blinks the spots out of her vision she's still seated amongst the insurmountable stacks of books, journals, and paraphernalia they'd all been trying to clear out of Daniel's office. In fact, the way she's sprawled over the floor, articles and folders underneath her, suggests her descent had been less than controlled. As does the fact that Janet and Jack are both standing over her, looking concerned.
"Major Carter." Teal'c tilts his head, looking down from his seat at Daniel's desk. "Are you not well?"
She groans, shaking her foggy head. "I'm fine, guys. I just got up too fast."
Janet gives her a hand this time, and Sam lets her hold onto her arm until she's sure she's steady on her feet. "Want me to check you out?"
She smirks. "If you thought that was necessary, I'd be in the infirmary by now."
"Maybe we just need a break," Jack suggests. "This is... hard work." A frown pulls at his lips. Sam takes a shaky breath.
Slowly, Janet lets go of Sam and straightens her skirt, rumpled from sitting on the floor and then, presumably, diving when Sam had fainted. "That's not a bad idea. Sam, if you're sure you don't need anything..."
Sam nods habitually, because the empty numbness she's felt since Daniel's death is preferable to the pain of digging into the materials of his life. As soon as she processes that thought, though, she pinches her arm, hard, and calls out to the others. "Actually--"
They all turn back to her expectantly. Her cheeks flush, but she pushes on. "Do any of you feel like grabbing some random food and hiding out in my lab. I... the mess is a little overstimulating right now." Not a lie. "And sometimes I prefer eating with other people."
Prefer, sure. Sometimes, it's the only way she can eat.
It takes less than ten minutes for the four of them to settle in her lab, safe and sterile and free from reminders of Daniel. No, that's a lie-- everything reminds her of Daniel. But being in her own space is... better.
Jack hands her a dish of blue jello. Teal'c is un-stacking several containers of the various warm offerings. Janet hands her a carton of orange juice and another one of apple with a smile. "I'm glad you suggested food. I had half a mind to check your blood sugar while you were all laid out."
"Low," Sam mutters, spooning jello into her mouth. She likes the feel of it, but her brain isn't in the mood for dessert right now. And her body-- well she doesn't know what her body wants. Even all these years later, her stomach detaches from her mind far too easily.
"Sorry, Carter," Jack apologizes, making her raise her eyebrows at him. "I know you forget to eat sometimes. I shoulda said something."
She shakes her head. "Not your fault, it just... happens." She opts for some of the mashed potatoes, a nice and neutral-- but filling-- food. "It's, um. Been kind of bad lately. I guess I should've seen it coming..."
Janet tilts her head. "What do you mean?"
She stares at her plate, taking methodical bites, inhaling after every swallow. She's in her lab, with her team. This isn't a rocky dining room table with her father staring her down from his seat at the head. She's eating because she wants to, because it's important.
"After, um, my mom died," she says quietly, "I just kind of... stopped eating. It was... a while... before anyone noticed. Long enough that it took, um. A few years for things to get back to normal."
"I have participated in mourning customs that involve fasting until the ceremonial celebration of the dead," Teal'c offers. "Is this not a similar event of which you speak?"
"Um, no." Sam takes a long drink of juice. "I think, if I had seen a shrink way back then, it would've been called an eating disorder."
"Jesus, Carter," Jack mutters, and she hopes he can't see the trepidation overwhelming her as she bares herself to them. "You were, what, thirteen? You must've been a goddamn twig."
"I'm better now," she insists. "Now that I... understand it. I mean, priorities, right? I have to want to take care of myself." She looks down at her food. "It's just... getting hard again."
Janet cocks her head, her eyes illuminated with understanding. "Is it easier to eat with other people? Some patients find it harder."
"It's better if other people are eating," Sam confirms, picking up a strip of bacon from Jack's collection of breakfast food. Maybe at some point in the future, she'll admit to someone how humiliating it had been in the early days, to have her dad watch her like a hawk over his mug of black coffee as she painstakingly worked her way through a bowl of oatmeal. But this is just a meal shared between friends, and it's okay. She's already feeling a little better. "Now... I can recognize when I'm eating that it tastes and feels good, and I'm coming back to myself. It's mostly just the hunger cues I have trouble with."
"Always thought that was just 'cause your brain was too full of quantum physics," Jack offers with a snort. "Would it help if I, I dunno, had some protein bars in my pockets offworld? I mean, I already do, but do you want someone mentioning it every now and then? Or do you just want us to accept this and move on?"
"I mean." She gestures to their current set-up. "I don't know what kind of coping mechanisms you have going for you, but I might need a little extra help for now."
"I am always willing to feast with you, Major Carter," Teal'c declares. "Perhaps getting off the mountain would be enjoyable. You can show me some of your favorite human restaurants. I am already familiar with Colonel O'Neill's propensity for grilled meat."
"And I keep Gatorade in the infirmary," Janet adds. "It's always in the nutritional fridge. You're welcome to it, just to have a little something extra when you're hunkered down in the lab."
Sam grins. "I do love Gatorade. The yellow one specifically."
"I have everything except red," Janet confirms.
"Y'know, I think Teal'c had the right idea," Jack says, around a mouthful of probably-stale hamburger. "We should go for ice cream. Get some fresh air."
Sam takes a bite of pizza. "That sounds like a great plan."
They pick their way through the rest of the food, and she doesn't even feel bad about the leftovers. On their way up in the elevator, Jack squeezes her arm. Sam's heart does something weird but not painful in her chest.
"You ever need anything else, Carter, you let us know," he says softly. "We wanna keep you around."
She leans her head against his shoulder in spite of herself. "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere."

For the fanfic writer ask: 🥺
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
I'm glad you picked this because it helped me articulate something I hadn't consciously realized. Watching Stargate and reading/writing fanfiction has been a great writer's workshop for me for emotional scenes, not just for Stargate or fanfiction.
Often there's an emotionally charged tension between people when they are trying to be strong, don't know what to say, are afraid to break down, etc. It happens a lot between Sam and Jack, but it's not always sexual tension. Sometimes it's a feeling of "This is hard and I don't know how to feel or what you will think but I want to trust you or show you I care."
We often can't articulate those feelings while emotional, so we say something more subtle or we don't say anything at all. Maybe it's a look. Maybe it's tears. Maybe it's a joke. Maybe it's anger. And sometimes the tension breaks because a character reaches out to offer a word or embrace. And sometimes that doesn't happen and someone goes unnoticed. It happens between all of the other characters, as well.
For example, when Teal'c resigns to Hammond to go save SG1, tears streaming down his stoic face. When Daniel goes through withdrawal in Need and Jack finds and embraces him. When Sam is barely holding it together in Paradise Lost and hides in the locker room until Teal'c finds her. How Hammond barely holds back tears watching the documentary. How Janet exhaustedly tries to cure Cassie and Daniel reaches for her and offers help. When everyone is trying to tell Jack how they feel in The Lost City. Whenever one of them is missing or presumed dead. So, I really get in those feels when I write my characters reaching that point of having had to be strong for too long. Because I have been there and know what that feels like. We all do. And I try to write it authentically.
Thank you for asking!

Stargate Rewatch: 1x02 The Enemy Within
Tumblr media
Jack and Kawalsky enjoying their banter while they can - unfortunately for Kawalsky, the role of Jack's best friend will be open very soon.
Daniel drinking coffee in the first 30 seconds!
“You don’t think the Goa’ulds are sending people though, do you?” Daniel, my love, how do you not think the Goa’uld are sending people through?
I love how immediately ride-or-die Jack is for Teal’c.
Daniel and Sam are giving a briefing on the DHD - Dial Home Device is helpfully written on the whiteboard. Sam also draws the cube with the six points from the movie, and I don’t know why but I find that very cute.
Both Daniel and Sam call the gate room the “embarkation room” which will get a callback in season 4.
Tumblr media
Daniel drinking coffee again. And gets a shoulder pat from Sam this time!
Jay Avocone gives a great performance as Kawalsky.
The doc in this episode is Warner, whose role is chief surgeon.
Tau’ri, Goa’uld generic memory - so much of the lore is laid out in this episode.
Colonel Kennedy suggests allowing the Goa’uld in Kawalsky be set free as a gesture of good faith and everyone is rightly horrified - which just makes it sad that in later seasons the SGC is making deals with them all the time without regard for the host.
Daniel with coffee no. 3 during the operating procedure.
“That’s right Dorothy, it was all a dream” the first Wizard of Oz reference?
RIP Kawalsky - the first, but certainly not the last, movie character to be killed off.
How did they miss the big chunk of Goa’uld in Kawalsky’s brain? Didn’t they do a post-op MRI?
"My friend died on the table." :(
Tumblr media
Aw, Sam is being the optimist this time - something of the host must survive because only Kawalsky knew the self destruct code. That really only proves the Goa’uld has access to the host’s knowledge, but very sweet of Sam to try and cheer Daniel up!
Daniel had one hand constantly in his pocket in this episode, which iirc is an ongoing character choice.
Sam, Daniel, and Teal'c still have helmets, but Jack only has a cap - when your name is above the title, you can refuse to wear a helmet if you think it makes you look goofy!
Something glaringly missing from this episode is any discussion around Teal’c being involved in the abduction and implantation of Sha’re and Skaara - it gets mentioned later in the season, but does Daniel have any misgivings about Teal’c joining the team? Has he asked Teal’c about Sha’re?
Not a single female character other than Sam had a name or spoke in this episode.

the funniest part of sams "engagement" is that no one likes Pete. teal'c just does his 🤨, o'neill tries really hard to be polite but barely succeeds, I don't remember daniels reaction to him but I'm pretty sure he was just confused, and HER OWN DAD barely looked the man in the eye. and when the two of them were alone, Jacob was like "Sam, honey, I know you're not happy with... him.... you know you can have your job AND your man, right??"

Adoption Papers
a ficlet by mushroom with help from stick
Jack walked into Hammond's office quite briskly, making the general look up.
"George, I need your help."
Hammond put aside the paperwork he was working on to focus entirely on Jack. the colonel addressing him by his first name implied that this was a personal favour, and personal favours required his entire attention.
"what do you need, Jack?"
Jack sat down, and leaned forward. "Carter and I want to adopt Nymph. I know you have connections, and I can't exactly go down to the courthouse to adopt a kid from, you know, another planet."
Hammond's eyes went wide, and he leaned back in his chair. "adoption, Jack?"
"we already consider her our kid, but I just got a feeling that one of these days we're gonna need it to be official in order to keep her with us."
"that feeling is probably more accurate than you know. do you think you and Major Carter are in the kind of relationship to able to be parents?"
Jack looked away. "I care for both of them, probably more than I should. but we're a family, and I don't think Nymph should be with anybody else."
Hammond grinned, and reached for his phone. "I was already planning on saying yes, I just wanted to hear it from you."
Jack blinked at him as the general dialed up the phone.
"Hey, Mark. yeah, it's George. how would you like to take care of the poker debt you owe me?" Hammond smiled at Jack, who took that as the cue to leave that it was.
~ • ~ • ~
about a month and five personal favours later, Jack and Sam called a team meeting in Sam's lab. Sam's lab and Daniel's office were where they met up most of the time, so it was second nature to call them there. Daniel and Teal'c rushed into the room, clearly worried.
"what's wrong, Jack? did something happen to Nymph?" Daniel spoke so quickly he stumbled over his words.
Jack and Sam looked at each other and beamed. "actually, yes, something did happen with Nymph," Jack said, and excitedly brandished the adoption paperwork that had the name "Nymph O'Neill-Carter" written in bold letters. Daniel and Teal'c leaned in to read, and embraced Jack and Sam in a huge hug and loud congratulations.
"Hammond had to call in a lot of favours, and forge a few details, but she's officially and legally ours!" Sam explained, grinning like a little kid.
"not even married, Carter, and we already have a kid." Jack joked. "how positively scandalous."
when they had finally left the room after a lot of excited chatter, Daniel pulled Teal'c aside.
"you know what this means, right?" Daniel whispered.
"it means that O'Neill and Major Carter are Nymph’s legal guardians, Daniel Jackson." Teal'c replied, quirking a confused eyebrow.
"no- well, I mean, yes, but that's not what I was talking about. it means we get to throw the mother-of-all adoption parties!!"
Daniel clapped a hand on Teal'c's massive shoulder, and left to invite everyone close to the five of them to the party.
~ • ~ • ~
Sam walked while covering Nymph's eyes, guiding her to the mess hall. Nymph’s bare feet padded across the floor, but Sam didn't see the point in ruining this happy occasion by forcing her to wear shoes. when they reached the doors to the mess hall, Sam let go of Nymph to open them and reveal a huge hand-painted banner that read "Happy Adoption Day Nymph!" in colourful letters. Walter Harriman and Sargent Siler were sheepishly covered in matching paint, but they were beaming from ear to ear the same as everyone else there.
"Happy adoption day!!" the entire crowd called out in excited chorus, waving their hands and tooting party horns. Nymph flashed a confused smile as she was guided to a table towering with gifts - most bought in the few proceeding days, but a few hand-made presents were unwrapped that day.
Hammond handed Nymph his gift personally, and said "I can replace it if it doesn't fit, but you seem to be roughly the same size as my granddaughter."
Nymph looked up at him, then unwrapped the pink and white striped box to see a little brown plaid dress and a black jumper with a matching teddy bear decal. she glanced up at Hammond again, then floated up to wrap her arms around him in thanks.
"you're very welcome, young lady," the general chuckled, returning her hug.
"I guess you could say you're General Gramps now, huh?" Jack joked. Nymph looked at him like she was mentally putting pieces together.
"General Gramps," she repeated, testing out the nickname, and nodded as if it were official now. everyone there tried not to burst into tears, and several people bit their hands as a method to prevent crying. Walter did not succeed, and pulled out his handkerchief to pat dry his eyes.
she opened the rest of her presents - mostly toys and clothes, with a hammer from a very confused SF. Cassie and Janet had given her a sketchbook and high quality coloured pencils, which she was also very thankful for and had almost left to go use them before Sam and Jack stopped her and brought her back to the festivities. they ended the day with grocery store cake and some makeshift party games.
that night, when Sam and Jack tucked their daughter into her bed in the guest quarters of the base, they promised her that they would take her to their house and give her a proper room with her proper family.
"We'll decorate it however you want," Sam said. "and you can hang up all your drawings and store all your toys in there."
"and you'll drive with us to and from the base every day, instead of having to wait in your quarters," Jack added. "it'll be great, you'll see. and I'll build you a fort with that hammer."
Nymph stared up at them with sleepy eyes. "will uncle Danny and uncle Teal'c be there, too?"
"Uh, no," Jack stumbled. "they have their own houses-"
"but they'll be here at the base every day, just like us, so you'll still see them as usual." Sam finished, with a thankful nod from Jack.
"that's good..." Nymph muttered, drifting off while snuggling with some of her new stuffed toys. after bending down to give her a forehead kiss each, Sam and Jack stood up and left the stiff concrete room, happily knowing it was the last time they'd have to leave her there.
~ • ~ • ~
Nymph sat with her head resting on her crossed arms and watched Sam putter around the machine she was working on. after a few huffs and sighs from the little girl, Sam put down her tools and looked at Nymph.
"what's going on with you?" Sam questioned, a fun smirk on her face. Nymph stretched out, and let out an even deeper sigh.
"the army people are confusing me." she started explaining, a long-suffering glance to the ceiling almost making Sam laugh.
"how so?"
"well, when I can't find you, and I ask someone on another team for help, they say they'll 'help me find my mom'. when I ask for help finding Jack, they say they'll 'help me find my dad'. why are they using those words for you, and only when helping me?"
Sam's smile was replaced with shock and confusion. how had none of them realised that Nymph didn't understand the concepts of parents, especially with the adoption being made such a big deal of? trying not to let her guilt show, she started explaining.
"well, you know how the trees told you that everyone has a special word for them?"
Nymph nodded.
"and Daniel told you that we call those words 'names'." Sam continued, while Nymph nodded again. "we have other special words to go with our names, and we call those 'roles' or 'rank'. for example, Jack's name is Jack O'Neill, and his rank is Colonel. do you understand?"
"yeah, a little bit." Nymph still looked confused.
"well, in families - that's what we are, a family - there are roles." Sam paused for a moment, trying to figure out what to say next. "do you remember anything before being with the trees? do you remember being with other people?"
Nymph shook her head. "the trees said that they found me all alone as a sapling, and they took care of me."
"a sapling..." Sam mumbled, then turned to her computer and looked up a picture of a baby and turned to show Nymph. "do you mean a baby? were you this little when the trees found you?"
Nymph nodded. "a sapling. the trees took care of me, and they gave me the powers of the Forest when I was big enough to choose my word, just like all the other Forest Children."
Sam nodded solemnly. "so that's why you don't know what parents are."
"parents?" Nymph repeated, tilting her head.
"those are special roles in families. your role is daughter, and mine and Jack's roles are parents. we take care of you, and love you, and keep you safe. that's why the other SG teams call me your mom, and call Jack your dad. because those are different words for parents."
Sam opened her arms, and Nymph floated into her lap. "there are lots of different words that kids call their parents. you can call me mom, or mama, or mommy, or you can keep calling me Sam if you want. whatever makes you happy."
Nymph thought for a moment, then happily exclaimed "Mama!" which made Sam's heart soar as she hugged her daughter tighter. at that moment, Jack walked into the lab to check on them.
"whatcha girls up to in here?" Jack asked jokingly.
"Hey, sir," Sam laughed. Nymph smiled and waved from her spot on Sam's lap.
"hi, dad!"
Jack stopped mid-step, eyes glistening with near tears as he stared at Sam for an explanation or even confirmation that Nymph had actually called him "dad".
"sorry, sir. the SFs have been calling you and me 'mom' and 'dad' when talking to her, so I had to explain those terms and she got excited." Sam explained hurriedly.
"ah." Jack nodded, still not moving.
Nymph tilted her head, confused by his reaction. "you are dad, right? I said it right?"
Jack smiled at her. "no, you got it right. I just wasn't expecting it."
this reasoning seemed to satisfy Nymph, and she turned to start playing with some loose screws on the workbench. Sam and Jack exchanged glances, not sure how to feel about the name change but somehow, it felt right to both of them. they were a family, and it was about time they started calling each other such.

Imagine Being Bradley’s Little Sister And Being Part of SG1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: This is slightly AU!!! Just that the time lines match up!!!
You walked into The Hard Deck with Jack, Sam, and Daniel. You were all being forced to go on vacation someplace else, Teal'c luckily was able to go off world for his vacation. You mentioned having some friends down here and you all took the opportunity to go there rather then Hammond forcing you all to go someplace else. You had just gotten back to Earth after being stuck off world for a month. Daniel and Sam both had a great time with the artifacts and science while you, Jack and Teal’c were just begging for something interesting to happen.
What you didn't know was your brother was now working down here, you both haven't spoken in years after the fight that you were joining the Air Force. While you forgave each other, the relationship was still very strained.
You went up to the bar and grinned "Penny Benjamin, is that you?" You asked. Maverick was a father/uncle figure to you and you still kept in very close touch when you could. Because of growing up with Maverick as your uncle, you grew up meeting Penny. She turned and her eyes widened "Y/n Bradshaw? My God you've grown up beautifully!" She said, giving you a hug from across the bar. You quickly ordered a couple of beers for everyone, promising to catch up with Penny later. When going back over to your team, you had to take a book out of Daniels hand to get him to pay attention. "Jackson, we were told to get away from anything work related for a week. Those ancient artifacts will still be there when you get back" you told him and he held up his hands. "Sir, you up for a round of pool?" You asked Jack as you gave him his beer. "You know it Major" he grinned.
You both went over and began to play, neither of you noticed the naval aviators come in. You managed to win, both Sam and Daniel make sure neither of you cheated. Jack groaned at how bad he had lost to you. "And that means you buy the next round Colonel" you grinned. Jack grumbled and went off to get the next round. You looked up and met Bradley's eyes. Your grin dropped and he looked shocked "Y/n?" He asked. You gave a tight nod and Sam came over to you "You good?" She whispered. You got a cocky look "I've never been better. Want to meet my older brother Sam, Daniel?" You asked just as Jack came back.
Just as you went to go over, Maverick came into the bar, making you grin. "Uncle Mav!" You called, moving right past your brother and hugged him tightly. He picked you up and swung you around like you were a little girl again "I've missed you kiddo! Phone calls just aren't the same" he smiled. You brought him over to your team "Uncle Mav, these are my colleagues. Air Force Colonel Jack O'Neill, Air Force Captain Samantha Carter, and Doctor Daniel Jackson. This is my uncle in everything but blood, Naval Captain Pete Mitchell, call sign Maverick" you grinned. The team had heard so much about him that it felt like they already knew him. Jack shook hands with Pete, “Pleasure to meet you, this one doesn’t shut up about you, especially after hearing the stupid stunts you pull. Apparently we shouldn’t be allowed to meet” Jack said, sending you a look and making you blush.
Phoenix came over, you hadn’t noticed that all of the pilots were listening, "I’m sorry, but who are you? Maverick never mentioned a niece” she asked politely. “Oh, I’m Y/N Bradshaw ma’am” you told her politely. Al of their eyes widened “And before you ask, yes I’m Bradley’s little sister” you said, not looking at your brother. All of them introduced themselves but Hangman rubbed you the wrong way, “I’m Lt. Seresin, but you can call me Hangman” he grinned. “Major, I’ll be right back. Hammond is on the phone” Jack told you before stepping outside. “Major?” Hangman asked before laughing “You outrank Rooster!” he laughed loudly. You shrugged with a little smile, “My work allowed quick advancements. I was only just recently promoted.” you said. Sam put her arm around you and squeezed, “You deserved it” she smiled.
Maverick smiled, “So what was it again you did for the chair force- I mean Air Force?” he asked, “Oh just deep space telemetry” you smirked, “By the way, please don’t try and access my files again” you said sweetly. Bradley looked confused, “What we do is highly classified. More then your mission from before” you said. “I may not talk to you Bradley, but I keep tabs to make sure you aren’t dead.” you said, lying slightly. You kept tabs on him in case anything from your line of work threatened him. Aliens manage to find out a lot of information without trying.
Jake stepped inside, “Sorry kiddos, Hammond needs us back to on base asap” he said. You all nodded, “I’ll keep in touch Uncle Mav and Bradley? Keep in touch this time, phones do work both ways” you said before you all left. “They seemed nice” Daniel said, “I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’re going to see of them” Sam said as you all left.
A/N: Let me know if you want more of this!!

Crescente (pt. 1)
(Stargate fic I wrote at 3am with g/t and some of my fave characters) (also posted on my Qoutev)
"Dial us home, Daniel." Colonel O'Neill proclaimed, the man standing next to the DHD as he turned his attention towards the marveling man.
"Yessir." The shaggy blonde replied, pulling his gaze away from the huge flowers that were more brightly colored than he'd ever thought possible for plant life. Punching in Earth's address on the engraved buttons, the chevrons lit up as they locked in their location.
Rubbing his itching nose, Daniel looked back at the team, Sam standing besides Teal'c. Turning towards Jack once the wormhole formed, the four made their way back over to the Gate which appeared dwarfed by the upscaled backdrop of the unusual planet.
Hammond had put the planet on the list for exploration, and once the MALP came back with a video feed of huge bugs half the size of the rover itself, Jackson and Carter practically begged the General for permission to go. The planet itself was not much larger than Earth from the estimations, and sustained a livable atmosphere for human and humanoid life. Which did not come as a surprise, all of the planets with Stargates on them were habitable to humans in one way or another.
Upon arriving, the team were astounded by the gargantuan scale of the flora from 92X-393; flowers larger and taller than apartment buildings, trees more massive than the low cloud cover of the forest like planet. No intelligent life had been recorded, which left the team wondering why there were not inhabitants. Speculating was half the fun, Jackson thought when they first entered the portal to 29X.
Now he wanted off more so than O'Neill did when they went to the other planets. His allergies had been nothing short of horrible after a grand time period of about ten minutes. Perhaps giant sized plants and flowers meant giant sized allergies, the scientist was a mess, his nose running and sneezing every few minutes.
"Remind me to bring you a spare lil' box of tissues." Jack chuckled, patting the disheveled linguist on the back as they stepped through the wormhole back to Stargate Command.
 -
"Dr. Jackson?" Hammond tore the man from his thoughts, Daniel looking up at the General with a look of apology. "Sorry, sir. My head has been fuzzy since we got home." Daniel said, taking off his glasses and pinching the bridge of his nose as Sam looked at the blonde.
"Allergies." She guessed, Teal'c quietly looking at Jackson for a moment. "You've had these ailments since we arrived there, Jackson. Perhaps you should see Dr. Frasier." He spoke in his usual monotone manner.
"I agree. Usually you're up and at-em by now." Jack added, Hammond giving a nod of agreement as he sat back in his chair.
"I'm fine. I just need to take some allergy meds and I'll be fine. Nothing new." Daniel said with a wave of his hand as he put his glasses back on.  "I'll get some from Frasier." The young man added after a look from both Sam and Hammond.
"You may feel fine, but who's to say that you may be more severely allergic to something. Your face is a little pink." Sam pointed out, the woman looking at her friend.
"Indeed. You look different." Teal'c said as Daniel looked at the Jaffa and woman with a subtle look of resignation.
"Fine." Daniel said after a moment, Jack shrugging towards the man as Hammond got up from his seat at the head of the table. The General had called a de-briefing shortly after their arrival home. They had taken back a few samples of dirt for their teams to catalog and store. Hammond was particularly interested in how the flora could get so big.
Having taken a reading of the atmospheric levels once they had arrived, the team were surprised that the oxygen level was nearly thrice the amount they'd found on Earth. The levels themselves indicated readings closer to the oxygen levels of pre modern historical Earth. It was interesting and all, though by the time that SG-1 had showered, changed, and discussed what they'd encountered, Jackson's skull felt like it was splitting. Hardly paying attention by the end of the meeting, Daniel left as soon as he was permissed much to the others' worry.
Making his way down the steps down stairs and through the ugly concrete walls of the Stargate Command beneath Cheyenne Mountain, Dr. Jackson winced to himself. His migraine was no surprise with his allergy attacks previously. He knew he'd get sneezey and congested, amd after that like clock work he would get a migraine that would be gone by the next morning. Though this headache was chewing at a different spot- no- all over - which wasn't normal.
Squeezing his eyes shut for a moment to try and ebb the throbbing pain throughout his skull, the man pulled the door open as he entered the infirmary.
"Janet." Daniel greeted, the brown haired doctor as he carefully sat on one of the empty examination beds. The missions had proven to be wrote successful, which was a relief, given they had Apophis breathing down their necks.
"Hi, Daniel." She replied flippantly, walking over to him. "Hammond said your allergies were bugging you again?" She started, tossing her old gloves in the trash before putting on a pair of sterile ones. Turning back to the blonde, the woman quickly darted over in alarm. "Daniel?" She said, her brow creasing in worry at seeing the archaeologist laying on the bed with his eyes squeezed shut.
"My head. It's killing me, Janet. It's not like a usual migraine or allergy congestion headache." Daniel muttered, his arm snaking over his eyes to shield from the blinding florescent lights overhead.
"Okay. Just keep a steady breathing and try not to move too badly." She said, her tone growing increasingly worried, "Can you move your head back?"
"It's not meningitis." Daniel said flatly, Dr. Frasier pulling away for a tick at his change in attitude. "...Sorry." He whispered after a moment as he peaked at her under his arm with a grimace.
"Alright-" She continued before Daniel let out a cry of pain, his hands flying up to hold his head as he sat bolt upright.
"Daniel? Hey- I need you to tell me what's happening." Frasier said, startled by the outcry as she rushed to grab him a syringe with twenty five milligrams of morphine to sedate and calm the man.
"My head, Frasier, fuck my head!" Daniel sobbed, curling into a fetal position as he sat at foot of the bed.
"I know, Daniel. I need you to work with me here." Janet said in a grunt, attempting to get the man to scoot back and lay down so she could administer the pain killer effectively.
Quickly injecting the drug once she managed to get the linguist to stop shaking for a few moments, Jackson looked at her for a beat as he went unconscious from the sudden adrenaline release and thereafter sedation of morphine.
 -
Waking to find Sam and O'Neill standing beside his bedside talking to Dr. Frasier, Dr. Jackson quietly watched them for a moment. His entire body ached like he had just ran a marathon through pudding, his limbs felt like they weighed a thousand pounds each, his hair hurt, everything hurt.
His mind was still swimming in pain from what he could tell, his vision was blurry and the throbbing was still present in his temples but for the present, Jackson stayed comfortably unaware. Clearing his throat, Jackson looked up at them.
"You okay, kid? Frasier called us and said you started loosing it over your head." Jack said, the graying man never the best with formalities, but always meaning the best which was what Daniel only cared about for the time being instead of correcting him.
"Yeah," Jackson croaked, Clearing his throat again as he rubbed his nose, "Allergies are still bugging me." He said, Frasier making a face.
"Still bugging you? You have the equivalent to kill a small child from what Janet's told us." Jack said, Sam giving the Colonel a look.
Giving a nod in reply, Jackson rubbed his eyes quietly as he brushed back his hair. "How long was I out?" He asked eventually as Sam came over to his bedside.
"About 45 minutes. You sure you're okay? Dr. Frasier is running your blood work to see if anything of this has to do with 29X-393." The blonde woman said, looking over the man for a moment with a concerned glance.
"Besides this headache, I feel fine." Daniel said, failing to tell her the pure sore and achiness that was spreading and overpowering the morphine.
Unconvinced, Sam gave a reluctant nod as she pat his shoulder fondly. "The Colonel, Teal'c, and I have to go to a meeting with SG-4 to brief them on 29X. We'll be back." She said, O'Neill giving Jackson a wave as he walked out. Nodding quietly, Daniel waved back as the two left.
Closing his eyes, Frasier came back as she checked his pupils with one of her flashlights.
"Ah- fuck, Doctor." Daniel gasped at the blinding light inches away from his sensitive eyes.
"Sorry, but you pupil dilation is normal, given your circumstance. How are you feeling?" She asked, checking his lymph nodes as the man gave her a so-so gesture with his hand.
"Shitty." Jackson admitted as he slowly sat up, feeling top heavy yet a million pounds regardless.
Looking at the man in surprise, she ushered him to lay back down. "Not so fast, last thing I need you doing is passing out." She said, looking him over.
-
By then, it was late in the afternoon and Daniel still felt sick, though this time around, he felt like his body was on fire. Frasier had left to get the lab results and Jackson felt a tingle crawl up his spine, first it was small, then the tingle grew from just that- a tingle- to full blown waves of burning hot ripples through his muscles and bones as he let out a jagged gasp.
"Frasier!" He called, the waves of fire growing more constant as his cheeks grew warm. Groaning quietly, the pain eased which left the blonde gasping for air, his lungs feeling squeezed in his ribcage before being let go as he trembled.
Letting out another cry of pain, the man sat up, panting in agony as he looked down at the white bedsheets, shaking from the effort to not vomit. Looking at his shaking hands, the man's eyes grew wide in horror as he watched the flesh of his hands turn a dark purple for a moment before a sense of dead filled him.
"Frasier!" He yelled again, this time his voice high with panic as he watched his hands seem to enlarge before his eyes. Letting out a rattling breath, Jackson felt like he was in some sick dream as the numbing sensation spread from his hands to his arms, to his chest and running down his legs.
Running down the hall, Frasier quickly opened the door to the infirmary, one of the stationed guards telling her Jackson had been urgently calling for her. As the woman entered, she fell dead in her tracks, staring at the man infront of her. Daniel had grown nearly a foot since she'd left.
"Frasier? What's happening to me?" Daniel asked in panic, his voice shaking as was his expanding body. Looking down at the sound of fabric stretching, the man got up, his head shooting towards the ceiling as his shirt clung to his growing chest.
"Frasier?" Jackson said, struggling not to have a panic attack as the woman stared up at the archaeologist is horror. This was something out of science fiction novels: not reality. Certainly not in her own lifetime.
Getting to his knees to avoid the light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, Daniel was loosing space, the seams of his shirt splitting as his pants. Letting out a pained grunt, Jackson quickly grabbed the blanket from his bed, throwing it over his hips as he outgrew his clothes.
"Help me! Janet, help me!" The blonde said, sounding on the verge of tears as his shoulders grew taller than the frame of the viewing windows a story above the infirmary floor.
Regaining herself, Janet ignored every rational thought in her mind to high tail it out of there as she jumped over the expanding leg nearing her direction. Running over to the red lock down button on the wall, Janet slammed her fist against it as the compound went into lock down. Grabbing the phone on the desk, she quickly dialed the number of General Hammond's office.
"H-Hammond! It's Dr. Jackson, sir... No, he isn't fine! Sir- Dr. Jackson is going through some kind of hyper growth! I need backup in here!" She said frantically as she looked up at the agonized man, his giant hands flying to cover his ears at the blaring alarms to block out the terrible sound.

Currently Reading: Uhh I think now is the time to announce to the fandom world that I've fallen into a horrible, full-on Regency romance novel obsession. I swear I've read probably 10 of them in the past week. And then I went and read fanfic. It's INSANE. But somehow I find it hilarious and I can skim parts so I don't need to pay attention all the time, and it's giving me fic ideas, so no complaints I guess? Just hoping it doesn't last too long?
Last Song: Right Hand Man, Something Rotten
Last Series: NCIS (2003)
Last Movie: Honestly not sure. I don't watch too many movies somehow
Sweet, Savory, or Spicy: Sweet, but you can win me over with potato chips too
Currently Working On: An NCIS AU fic that makes me giggle constantly, and the Sam/Jack SG1 WIPs that are always ongoing.

Happy 25th anniversary to Stargate SG-1
I have nothing to offer in the vein of fanfic or gifs today. I can only say, well, thank you. For your hope, your humor, your humanity. For catalyzing such a wonderful fandom. And thank you especially, especially, especially for creating my team: Jack, Sam, Teal'c, Daniel. I'll always love you for that. No matter what. 💙💙💙

Y'all can I ramble about how similar the two Daniels are for a minute 'cause like WOW
They both have tragic/traumatic childhoods and crave connection because of it, they both took refuge in history/academia/archeology and became experts in linguistics, they both went on one (1) expedition that changed their whole universes forever
And they BOTH have equal potential for great good and great evil, and that's the most fascinating part about them to me
I feel like they're each others' shadows tbh
Daniel of Mayfair is the one who chose the evil and Daniel Jackson is the one who chose the good
They both have very selfish/self-serving tendencies, and have "for the greater good" mindsets much of the time in LOTS of situations where it probably shouldn't be applied, and they're both obsessive yet impulsive
Daniel of Mayfair was thrown headlong into a world he didn't understand where everyone was manipulating him and trying to take advantage of him, and in every situation in which he was presented with a moral choice he ultimately chose the wrong
Daniel Jackson was thrown headlong into a world no one on earth understood with people who were very passionate about helping him figure it out and cared about him, and is FREQUENTLY presented with moral choices by his pseudo father figure purposefully to make sure he makes the right choice
In Thor's Hammer, Jack makes Daniel be the one to hold the staff and shoot the hammer, he makes Daniel choose to save Teal'c's life over potentially being able to save his wife and brother-in-law's lives at some point in the future, and when Daniel is standing there hesitating Jack mutters, "Come on" because he's pulling for him to make the right choice and looks palpably relieved when Daniel does shoot the hammer
In The Torment of Tantalus, when Daniel says he'd rather die than leave this universe-altering knowledge behind and begs Jack to let him stay, Jack does, but stays at the bottom of the stairs and waits. And sure enough a mere moment later Daniel sighs and turns back to leave with Jack
And in Bloodlines, when Daniel is NOT with Jack and is just with Sam, Sam tells him killing the infant goulds would make them just as bad as the goulds are, but Daniel turns and shoots them anyway, and Sam looks legitimately afraid of him in that moment
Daniel Jackson clearly needs a steady, guiding hand keeping him on the straight and narrow, much like another Daniel I know
That's why I have my whole au where Hazel and the ghost of Elise team up to make sure Daniel becomes a decent man, because he obviously has the potential as long as he makes the right choices
And I think it'll go pretty well for them, considering how much success Jack has had with Dr. Jackson
But the point of all this was that I feel like each of them could just as easily have become the other in different situations
