you make such a valid point about how absolutely watered down remus' character is. if i could muster up some writing energy to finally write my introspective logan and remus series i Would, because i just need more people to be more exploratory with their remus characterizations
i admit we don't have a full grasp on his character yet since i think he plays a big role in the finale, but MAAAN people really be doing the Least with the way they portray him. another complaint i have w most fics is that if they make him sympathetic or comforting to another side, they basically strip his entire personality away just to make him palatable. it's very annoying!!!!
if you remembered where you read those remus essays i would def appreciate if u can send them to me!! need to intensify my remus brainrot rn
ps, I KNEW UR URL SOUNDED FAMILIAR!! of course u saw my dsmp and fundy essays from back in the day lmfao. those were the times - @intrulogical
for some reason i feel like tss fans are a little media illiterate when it comes to remus specifically
i just??? feel like they cant see past him being intrusive thoughts which, to be fair, is what he was introduced as and hasnt been really elaborated on but as much as remus presents through blunt honesty, hes also NINETY NINE PERCENT SUBTEXT
if u did write that fic i would LOVE to read it. im an intrological girlie at heart i just adore the way they mesh and im a sucker for introspective works especially. plus ur takes are always so good
AND YEAH!!! its so odd that hes so open and yet somehow we know so little about him. we know his name but .... but what? nothing. all the sides have emotional important moments through their name EXPECT for remus (and a bit logan technically considering he didnt reveal it but it did come after one of his videos). we have yet to get a peek into remus' noggin which is interesting considering how honest he is
but yes u have EXACTLY THE SAME OPINION AS MEEEEE i cant read a lot of remus centric/angst fics because its really just Not him. its like a blank cut out trope with his name and face plastered over but it aint him. and its always to make him more palatable, more normal because then its okay to sympathise with him. i get the feeling that a lot of authors feel weird making angst for a character who doesnt experience turmoil in the "desirable" way. like that they cant feel bad for someone who isnt a hundred percent morally good
maybe im reading too much into it but thats definitely the vibe im getting. either that or people just dont care enough to understand him past a trope gaaahh
(ps ps ur fundy essays were all i lived for u were one of like Two fundy people i followed.....love forever)

Wow I loved that ankle fic!! If you are still looking for fics I would really enjoy one where Sirius is caught skating before he’s been cleared, maybe with a couple of the other boys and he gets in loads of trouble, lol dw just ignore if it’s bad idea 😄
1. Thank you! I'm happy you liked it.
2. Oooh yess! I hope I can do this idea justice, because I like it a lot. That's such a Sirius thing!
3. Also I love requests. I have quite a hard time coming up with good ideas but I love to write, so thank you!
Characters by @lumosinlove 💙 Thank you for this universe!
Sirius has been on the ice once, since the 'accident'. It went about as good as watching a toddler take his first steps, but in the end he was able to skate slow laps without falling down. It was stupid. He did this for a living. He had been - not to brag, just stats - one of the best. And now he was sitting on the bench waiting for the team to clear out, so he could go through the pain of skating in a circle for half an hour.
After their practice was over, Sirius went back, to the lockerroom with the boys. He could at least help them theoretically. James asked, how he was doing, as he did each week sometime more than once. Sirius - as he did each week - answered with a: "too slow for my liking". James responsible-motherhen-instict was now, nowhere to be found, when he suggested going skating later that day once even the staff had cleared out.
"You want me to risk my recovery to skate properly now instead of in a few months? Are you crazy!?", is what Sirius should have said.
"So when and where are we meeting?", is what came out of his mouth in a whisper.
That's how after the 10 laps, he did with (almost) ease today, he told Loops, that he was going to stay and do some more streches.
"You can overdo it, you know?", Remus told him, "just be careful alright? I know you'd be devastated, if all of your progress was ruined. And I would be the one having to listen to you whine."
"Firstly, I dont whine. Ever." -thats a lie and both of them knew it- "and secondly, thank you so much for your concern about my well-being, but I'll be careful, mum", Sirius added theatrically annoyed.
"This is literally my job. To tell you to be careful, so that you can play next season."
"So you dont really care about my well-being then, Loops?", Sirius gasped dramatically.
"Dont overdo it. See you tomorrow, Cap."
"Bye, Re."
The rink was silent. It was just him.
Then he nearly fell over as James jumped on him from behind.
Correction, it was just him and James.
"So, you're feeling up to playing?", James asked, standing on his own now.
"Do you really think you can win a one on one against your Captain, Potty?", Sirius challenged.
"Yes. But also I was thinking we wait for the others to join first. They should be here in a second."
"You told the others? If anybody finds out we'll be in so much trouble.", Sirius was beginning to regret his decision.
"So you dont want to play with us?", Finn's voice came out of the tunnel.
"Betrayed by our own captain?!", Logan's voice followed.
The cubs and Kasey stood in front of them now.
"Did nobody of you think it was a bad idea to come?!", Sirius asked.
"Well, our captain thinks it's fine, apparently." "And we found out about it a minute ago that someone will be blocking the rink during goalie-practise times", Leo completed Finn's thoughts.
"So we thought we'd stay with Nut and see if you suck now.", Logan added.
And because Sirius was already excited to just play a little, he answered an "Oh, it's on, Tremzy!" from where he was lacing his skates a bit tighter to give his ankle at least some stability.
Kasey hadn't been much for the idea of his Captain playing again. He knew from his thighs, that disregarding Loops orders, would only lead to a longer break. But since he would have been at the rink because of his goalie-practise anyway, he decided he would stay. Just to keep an eye on them, of course.
Definitely not, because he was missing his captain as much as the rest of the team on the ice.
Once they were all on the ice, James let Sirius choose his Teammates in a three on three. It ended in Potts, Logan and Leo against him, Finn and Kasey.
They all got their sticks and let Sirius' team have the puck first. And so his first after-recovery-game began.
He knew they went easy on him and for the first time he was glad about that. It made the game easier. He got less competitive than usual and thus put less pressure on his recovered ankle.
They passed the puck easily between one another. It felt like he had never been gone. Skating had been so had the first time afterwards, but as soon as he held his stick, he felt like this was were he always belonged.
Sirius got it to Finn and he shot it back. Kasey acting as a player now skated through the middle. He got the puck from Sirius and went for the goal. It hadnt been a bad shot at all, but for Leo there was no fun in letting the puck go in on purpose, so he blocked it and shot it to Logan.
The game went back and forth a few times, Sirius always staying on his good side. He even scored twice. He felt good. It was the first time in a long the he felt truly happy, even.
"Sirius!", came a shout from the boards. It was Lupin. A Angry-Faced Lupin. A kind of Lupin he hadnt seen in a long time. So Sirius decided to better skate over quick but carefully. The others luckily got the hint to be quiet. Or the just wanted to eavesdrop who knows.
"Sirius.", Remus repeated. "I told you to not overdo it-twice, might I add- and you decided playing a game with the team would be a good idea? I'm checking you again and yes, that is absolutely necessary. What were you thinking? You could have undone all you worked for so hard. Not just the last few months but your entire life. You could have never been able to play, do you know that?"
"Yes", Remus was never usually this angry. But Sirius thought he also saw something else in his eyes. Something between relief and excitement, he guessed.
"I hope I scared you enough with that whole speech, for you to not do it again unless I tell you you can, okay?", Loops actually waited for an answer this time. He seemed a bit more relaxed now.
"Ouai, pardon"
"No need to say sorry to me, it would have been your- Well, I do have more work now- actually yeah, say sorry, but it's no problem. I'm honestly just really glad your not currently on the ice with another broken bone.", Remus told him warmly. "Still, dont tell Arthur any of this. All of you!", he shouted to the rest still standing there. " And I will look at your ankle again, if something happens it's better to know sooner than later. Will you wait in the in the medic room?"
"Thanks. Yeah, I'll just take off the skates first.", Sirius answered, while making his way dont to the locker rooms. It was- if he hadnt broken anything again, which it didnt feel like- totally worth it. For the first time in months he actually felt like all the work had made a difference.
"Potts", he heard Loops again, while walking through the tunnel, "Potter, I know this was your idea. Come here and explain yourself."

Logan's Birthday (1/7)
-------------------------
Logan was a smart man, he always had been, top of his class since he was little. But being smart only got you so far, there always came a time when you just werent smart enough.
For Logan, that time was adulthood. So many years worth of studying, gone at the slightest notion that someone else was- better. And of course, Logan knew exactly what made his competitors better, but saying it out loud, that was paramount to insulting the company.
So here he was, twenty-two years of age and stuck in an apartment, sifting through job applications and bills, as if he'd ever have enough to pay them off.
"Oh yes Logan go on take only honors and AP classes for the rest of your life, I'm sure it'll all turn out fine," Logan muttered bitterly.
He let out a groan of annoyance as the tv flickered through one of his least favorite commercials.
He'd always despised fashion and makeup companies, but the Kingsley company was another story on it's own. He couldnt explain it, for all he knew it was some odd combination of self hatred and toxic societal expectations, he just couldn't stand those twins, with their overly wide smiles and stupid overzealous compliments. But of course, most other people bought it. So Logan always assumed there was something wrong with him.
Eventually Logan finished with the papers, setting them aside and walking to the kitchen.
"Like anyone would pay thirty bucks for a makeup set that's going to fall apart two days afterward," Logan muttered, glaring at the tv. He walked over to the coffee machine and got started on his fourth cup for that day. It wasnt healthy, Logan knew that, he'd done an entire report on it in sixth grade, but it was the only way he could seem to stay up without having a breakdown.
Logan looked over at his to-do list for that day, he never seemed to finish them, so he had no idea why he bothered. He checked off the section labelled "bills and applications" before walking back to the coffee machine and picking up the mug. He watched the sunrise outside the window, he always liked sunrises more in the colder months, they were much brighter.
Logan finished his coffee and set the cup in the sink, checking his watch. His mother had set up a job interview for him, but all she'd given him was an address and a time, he certainly didnt want to be late. He walked to his closet and pulled out a blue sweater, black vest, black pants, and dress shoes.
"5629, Ridgeport Avenue, should be interesting," Logan muttered as he fixed his tie. He'd never exactly liked Ridgeport, it was a rich people and idiots thinking they could make it big on stupid ideas.
But what awaited Logan when he reached the location was far worse than what he was expecting.
"Mother I told you I dont want anything to do with this company!" Logan hissed over the phone, currently hiding out in the bathroom, he may have hated the Kingsley company, but he wasmt stupid enough to insult them where someone might hear.
"Its good pay! You can suck up your pride for once in your life cant you?" His mother replied.
"Me, a secretary for those- those-" Logan couldnt seem to find the right words for it, all he cod think was 'Ew' and 'Not in a million years'.
"I'll call you back after the interview," Logan said, hanging up and stuffing the phone back in his pocket. He fixed his hair in the mirror before rushing back out, after all, he did have a meeting in thirty minutes.
"Logan Sanders," The intercom sounded, the voice of Remus Kingsley flooded the room. Logan felt his stomach lurch as he stood up. He trudged down the hall, fiddling with his tie. He finally reached the door to Remus' office, and knocked twice.
"I'm not naked if that's what you're thinking," Logan held back the urge to vomit as he processed the sentence, and then he opened the door.
Remus Kingsley was a tall man, with a white striped birthmark in his hair, and a mustache that gave him the impression of a man who'd gorged himself on mud. His clothes didnt help much, a ripped jacket paired with a green shirt and twice as torn black jeans, his feet were even propped up on the desk for gods sakes.
"I'm here for the secretary position," Logan said as he closed the door.
"Well secretaries arent supposed to stand are they?" Remus said, moving his feet and gesturing toward the chair in front of the desk. Logan took a seat and finally let go of his tie.
"So what sparked your interest in the position?" Remus said, very obviously reading off notecards.
Logan bit back the urge to say 'brute force and a ransom note'.
"I've seen a lot of your commercials, the name was recognizable," Logan said.
"Oh so you've heard of us?" Remus said, now checking his nails. Logan was getting more annoyed by the minute.
"Yes, I have," Logan replied, biting the inside of his cheek to keep from growling.
"Great! You're hired! You can start tomorrow," Remus said with a grin, Logan noticed he was missing one of his front teeth. He slid a sheet of paper across the desk, Logan looked it over and pocketed it before getting up.
"Very well, I suppose I'll see you tomorrow," Logan said as he walked out.
"I could get used to seeing that face every day," Remus said, Logan felt his face heat up slightly, though he could scarcely tell if it was from rage, or from something else. He merely nodded and closed the door behind him on his way out, rushing through the lobby and out into the streets of Ridgeport.
"This is it- my life is over, this is how I die," Logan had decided to meet up for coffee with his friend Remy, and the conversation had turned very quickly to Remus' comment at the end of the meeting.
"I mean it could be worse, at least you're both in the same age-range," Remy replied, taking a sip from his iced coffee.
"I dont know how you're drinking that when its 27 degrees out," Logan said with a laugh.
"Nothing will ever be as cold as my heart," Remy said, grinning.
"Oh? Cold-hearted are we? Then please, do tell me where all those photos of Emile huddled up under your arm with his head buried in your chest came from,"Logan said sarcastically.
"Oh Em, the only person warm enough to melt my poor icy cold heart," Remy said, bringing a hand to his forehead and falling back slightly.
"Gods you're so cheesy," Logan said, rolling his eyes.
"You're just mad because you dont have a queerplatonic partner to give you forehead kisses every night before you go to sleep," Remy said.
"I dont need a partner of any kind, I'm fine on my own," Logan replied.
"Sure you are bud, sure you are," Remy said.
And that stuck with Logan the rest of the week. He had a lot more interactions with Remus than he'd expected to, sometimes they felt- planned. But Logan could swear up and down he was imagining things, there was no way someone as influential, nor as self-absorbed, as a Kingsley would've spared him a second glance.
And he carried this thought process with him, that is, until he found a letter on his desk. A letter, inviting him to the company Christmas party, from Remus.
"Did you get my letter?" Remus leaned on Logan's desk, that same grin he always wore plastered on his face.
"Yes, though I dont think you specified the office you want it delivered to?" Logan replied.
"Oh! My bad, I think it was right abooouuuuttt- here," Remus pressed a finger to Logan's nose, Logan tensed slightly, his cheeks flushed red.
"You turn a very pretty red when you're nervous," Remus purred, resting his head on his arms, which were now crossed over Logan's desk wall.
"I-" Logan wasnt sure what to say, here was all the evidence, right in front of his face, and yet he still didnt dare believe it.
And he didnt believe it, not until the day of the Christmas party, where he arrived in a limousine, hand in hand with the man, to a cruise ship of all places, wearing, for the first time in his life, a stunning midnight blue dress, that made him feel like he was worth a glance.
Though of course, no amount of party dresses could top that which he wore on his wedding night, a floor length gown of Remus' own design, studded with pearls and sequins, reflecting blue lights everywhere he walked.
"Remember how I said I wouldnt mind seeing a face like yours every day?" Remus said, smiling as he moved Logan's veil.
"Well, you wont have to worry about that now, will you?" Logan said, smiling, and he relished in the kiss that Remus placed on his lips, Remus' arm pulling Logan closer and closer by the waist, until the space between them was so thin that they were almost attached.

Series Summary:  Janus uses age regression as a way to destress but has little control over it whenever he grows upset. Trying to keep a secret like that can be hard when you're only four years old, and thus family bonding ensues in a way nobody expected, least of all Deceit.
Chapter 2: Bottled Up
Chapter Summary:  Janus finally gets his best friend back.
Warnings: crying
Taglist (ask to be added) @a-different-s1de
It took Janus a few days to join the others at the breakfast table again, twisting his gloves behind his door in an uncharacteristically nervous way as he sucked in a breath. He didn't have anything on him to break this time, unless things somehow turned violent and his bones became a target. Shaking his head he threw his shoulders back and relaxed his face into a neutral expression. He and Patton were attempting to fix things, his relationship with Virgil was...smoothing, Logan had never really had a problem with him and Remus was well, Remus. So that just left Roman who needed to be tread especially carefully around. The odds were certainly in his favor should another altercation occur around one of the others.
But...he had cried. He had lost his cool over a seemingly insignificant item and had been so close to being small in front of one of the worst people to be small with, princely image smeared in his head with anger and petty malice reserved solely for him. He knew he had messed up, insulting Roman the way he did but his name was so much more to him than just something to call if you needed something. A name held so much weight with each and every individual who learned it and used it. A name held the entire history of the individual with it, and to have it said with such flippant mocking in a moment of such desperate trust that would change things for everyone- the implications of the act were clear. Roman hated him.
With good reason, he mused as he took another breath and opened the door, he had used him as a means to an end in his desperation to get Thomas to listen to his own self preservation. Roman had no reason to forgive him for what he had done and he didn't expect him to. He did, however, expect a bit more tact from the royal. Ignoring him and throwing insults was one thing. Blatantly destroying his things without a care was another.
Roman was sitting at the table already writing something or other in an old sketchbook, Patton frying up bacon with an endearing level of concentration at the stove. He grabbed a regular glass from the cabinet and filled it water, stomach flipping at the thought of anything else. Patton offered him a bright smile but didn't say anything; Janus didn't miss the way his eyes flicked worriedly over to Roman.
Thankfully the creative facet paid him no mind, Janus taking his seat a couple chairs away to avoid intruding and hoping he wasn't in anyone else's spot. Hearing shuffling from the doorway he turned and locked eyes with Virgil, who froze momentarily before giving him a tentative nod and walking into the kitchen. Thankfully the awkward air was somewhat saved as a plate of eggs and bacon and toast was pushed under his nose, muttering out a small "Thank you" before shoveling slightly overcooked scrambled eggs into his mouth.
"Thanks Pat." Virgil plopped down heavily beside him, taking the empty space between him and Roman, and he had only a moment to be confused and grateful before a familiar thermos was set down in front of him. Turning to Virgil with bacon still halfway to his mouth he smiled as the other shrugged and looked away. "Rem and I were able to fix it so- yeah."
Hope fluttered in his chest even as Virgil refused to look at him. He knew it was a lot to hope for, to ask for- but he couldn't help but think maybe this could be their clean slate. Maybe Virgil really would want to talk things over with him, fix things, and they could go back to how they used to be. He shook his head minutely as he put his fork back down. No, not how things used to be. He realized now their relationship had always been a bit rocky. Maybe this time...they could make things better.
He had just opened his mouth to thank him when Roman scoffed loudly, reaching forward. "I still don't understand why this is even such a big deal to you. Are these-"
He was cut off as his hand was halted with a vice grip from the anxious side, who sat still and quiet not looking at anyone. "Lay off Princey."
Roman tugged at his arm. "I just-"
Virgil's head snapped up, eyeshadow black as pitch but with a glare that could kill a man if they weren't imaginary. "Don't."
It felt as if everyone and everything in the mindscape was holding their breath as Virgil's voice, distorted as it was, rang out with a finality not even Patton dared question. Janus saw the fatherly side tense and turn, ready to dispell the situation if need be, spatula held out in front of him but whether it was to use as an a weapon or a shield Janus couldn't guess. He felt words stick in his own throat as he cursed himself for not being quicker to come up with some witty remark, dish out a glare, hell even sink out in a fit of dramatics as he was want to do. Instead he sat frozen, wide eyed and slightly hunched behind Virgil.
Anxiety protecting Self Preservation, now where was the irony?
Roman stilled and swallowed loudly, fear passing over his features before an angrier expression took over. Ripping his arm away he stood abruptly and scowled. "Great. You too? I thought you hated him!"
Before anyone could say anything he turned sharply and stalked off, his door slamming loud enough moments later to make all three of them jump. Virgil's arm was still in the same position, fingers tensed around an arm that had long gone before he flexed them with a wince and buried himself in his breakfast without another word.
"Awe, look at the little tongues!" The gentle coo brought Janus' attention to Patton who had placed the rest of breakfast on two other plates and was now looking at the thermos with adoration. "I'm glad you were able to have it fixed, kiddo!"
"I- Patton I'm older than you?" The irony definitely wasn't lost this time as Patton shrugged and settled down gesturing to a plate without looking at him.
"Logan, good morning! I made you a plate and there's some coffee left in the pot still!"
"Thank you, Patton." Logan glanced over briefly and nodded towards Virgil and Janus before pouring himself a mug and sitting down to eat, the silence a bit more comfortable with the still angry prince gone from the table.
Breakfast was a quiet affair however, conversation stopping and starting at awkward intervals. Janus noticed Virgil eating a lot slower than he would normally but nobody commented on it. He watched as Logan then Patton got up, washed their dishes and left the kitchen to go and do whatever they did during the day, leaving him and Virgil alone.
Taking a breath and shoving the last bit of bacon in his mouth Virgil stood up finally and swiped both their plates for the sink. Surprised Janus simply watched as he scrubbed them off and put them away, turning and nodding towards the thermos.
"Still like apple juice?"
"I- yessss?" Janus grimaced as a nervous hiss left his mouth but if Virgil noticed he didn't comment, unscrewing the cap of the newly fixed cup and filling it with the juice.
"Okay." Virgil slid the thermos over to him and sat down across from him with a sigh. "I'm the last side in the world who ever wants to say this, but we need to talk. We can do it here, or wherever but...yeah."
Janus nodded slowly and reached over to grip the thermos, happiness bubbling up briefly to see it fixed and functional and void of shards digging into his hands. "You'd be most comfortable in your room right?"
"This isn't about me so it doesn't matter." Janus snapped his head up and squinted at the anxious side. His eyeshadow was a shade darker than usual and his sleeves were twisted in his fingers almost painfully. Pursing his lips he nodded again.
"Why don't we go to my room then. No one goes in it anyway and I just recently cleaned so it would be a neat environment. Tidy space equals a tidy mind and all that."
"Right." Virgil huffed out a laugh as he stood up. "Now a good time?"
"Of course." Janus had a feeling what this would be about but it didnt make it any easier. He didn't particularly like discussing his regression. There wasn't anything wrong with doing it or why he did it; it was just something that happened and though he would be loathe to the idea of the others knowing he was far from ashamed of it. It was just....he and Virgil hadn't spoken- really spoken- in such a long time. He knew this would be a serious conversation, especially since the closer they got to his room the darker his eyeshadow was getting, but the determined set to his face told Janus he wasn't getting out of this. He'd be proud of his former friend if he didn't feel so much like puking.
Opening the door he gestured inside, Virgil immediately curling up in the comfortable desk chair while Janus sat stiffly on the edge of the bed. They didn't make eye contact for a minute, the tension in the room so tight he could barely breathe. And then Virgil took a steadying breath and the air became easier to suck in again, reminding Janus with a start just how much influence Virgil had to his surroundings. While he waited for the atmosphere to calm he took a swig of his juice, happiness bubbling up again as he realized how long it had been since he'd had it.
"Janus."
"Yes, Virgil?" He looked up to see the anxious side slightly more relaxed, legs curled underneath him with his hands resting on his knees. He looked tired though, slumped over with barely hidden bags under his eyeshadow. He had a feeling now was not the time to bring it up however worried the image made him.
"Have you- did you- damnit." Virgil ran a hand through his hair and took another breath. "You still regress. Which is fine! It's perfectly healthy and there's nothing wrong with it- but...has it been happening a lot? Without...without me there?"
He gripped his cup tighter and said nothing, watching with regret as Virgil's eyes widened.
"Janus...you weren't alone when it would happen right? Remus, or at least-"
"No. I was fine on my own for the most part. I simply locked my door."
"Locked your-! Janus you can't, okay. Okay, I- Janus I'm so sorry. We need...fuck okay." Virgil was sitting up straighter now, gripping his cheeks and squeezing his eyes shut. He couldn't remember the last time he had seen the other so worked up other than when he had left after their final argument. Janus leaned forward and cleared his throat, holding out his hands which Virgil gratefully took in a steel grip.
"I know the way we left things was...less than ideal," he started, looking at Vjrgil directly to try and drive home his point. "But I feel like we're at a point now where we can try to see where things went wrong and fix it. My habit has nothing to do with it."
His fingers were gripped tighter as Virgil laughed. "Your habit? Is that what we call it now? Janus- I need to apologize-"
"You don't."
"Shut up asshole and let me be sentimental." Janus grinned and nodded for him to continue. "The way I acted- it wasn't okay. Neither was the way you acted but that's beside the point. I'm very willing, now that the anger's cooled off, to start fresh. It's something we should have done way before this and I'm sorry for being so stubborn but...I guess it doesn't matter now. I just-"
Distangling their fingers, Virgil gripped his chin gently and tilted his head up, making him look directly into pleading eyes. "I didn't think about how my leaving would impact our trust that badly. You had no one to take care of you, and when you're small you should never have to be left to your own devices. You trusted me all those years ago to be responsible for you and I've been...I've been failing you for years. And that isn't okay."
Tears pricked his eyes and he internally cursed himself for not being able to handle this conversation. It had been years since they had been this close, years since Virgil had looked at him with anything but disdain and borderline hatred; to have him this close now, watching him with such an open expression-
Arms were around him before he even registered Virgil had moved and that was the last straw. Choking off a sob Janus gripped the back of the other's hoodie and buried his face shamefully in his friend's shoulder, years of emotions pouring out in front of the person he expected to care the least. He felt himself being shifted so Virgil could sit beside him, thighs pressing together as he was rocked gently back and forth.
"Shhh, I know. I know, Janus and I'm so sorry. I promise we'll be okay. We're okay now, I'm not leaving again. Let it out it's okay, I still love you, it's going to be okay."
And if that last statement didn't just make him sob harder. His scales itched and his face was hot and he had probably ruined the patched jacket with all of his snot but Virgil loved him. It would be okay because he was holding him and rocking him and telling him everything would be fine. They were okay. Finally, after so long of wanting to talk but never knowing how, he had finally gotten his best friend back.
Neither of them had the will to let the other go for a very long time, but Janus found himself content, as his tears finally slowed and the gentle back rub tapered off, to just sit and be held and loved.

Behind The Scenes
Summary: What were Virgil and Remus doing during Putting Others First? (Featuring: Remus being surprisingly soft, Logan worrying about his friends and Virgil being an anxious idiot!)
Word Count: 4109
Warnings: Cursing, mentions of gore/violence, just quite a lot of Remus being Remus, Virgil might be a bit ooc (I made him more reasonable than he probably will ever be in canon)
Pairings: Analogical (If you squint) with Remus pining after both of them
Remus usually didn't like to venture out of his room and into the commons, since doing that usually ended with a lot of screaming from Virgil or Patton and with Roman trying to gouge his eyes out with his katana. (And that, while fun at the beginning, grew tiresome after a while)
His room was much more interesting anyways.
But filming days were always the exception to the rule, since the other sides were all in their rooms waiting to either be summoned or butt in (Ha. Butt) when they deemed it necessary, the commons were left empty, and that meant he had free reign to go into the common’s kitchen and stuff his face with Patton’s homemade chocolate chip cookies to his heart’s content without anyone to screech in fright the moment they caught sight of him.
He left his room happily, quietly humming a song from Beetlejuice, but stopping dead in his tracks the moment he reached the commons and was greeted with the sight of the anxious side curled up on the floor beside the couch.
Under normal circumstances, this is the moment where he would leave. Turn around before he was spotted and try again later, but a closer inspection told him that Virgil was shaking and, if his irregular breathing was anything to go by, probably crying.
Now, while he didnt care about Virgil anymore on account of the anxious side abandoning them and the fact that apparently whatever friendship they once may have had had been a lie on the anxious side part, in all the years of knowing him, Remus had never seen Virgil look quite so…
Pitiful? Broken?
Small. He settled for small. He had never seen Virgil look so small before.
But he should leave. Surely his presence would only make whatever this was worse and-
Virgil’s breath hitched and now Remus could clearly make out the sound of him sobbing and god fucking damn it.
He wanted to help Virgil.
“Virgil? Are you uh, okay there?” Remus asked nervously and ,upon hearing his voice, Virgil startled and proceeded to cry louder.
Fuck, Remus wasn't equipped for this.
“Should I, erg, go fetch Patton or something?” Remus asked, making a vague gesture with his hand that he was sure Virgil couldn't see. Now, that question did get a reaction out of him.
“NO!” Virgil yelled in that particularly demonic voice of his while snapping his head up to look at him. Huh. Interesting, the mere mention of Patton had Virgil’s eyes widening in panic and fear, his breath quickening and his shaking worsening.
Now, Remus didn’t have the time to unpack all of that so he decided to just throw away the whole suitcase and try a different approach.
“Okay. No Patton. Got it.” He said, nodding to himself and he saw Virgil relax just the tiniest bit, still looking at him warily with tears still falling freely, his cheeks stained black from his ruined eyeshadow.
“What do you want, Remus?” Virgil asked, now in his normal voice, if a quite a lot more shakier than it should be.
“Well, originally, I wanted to steal some of Patton’s cookies. Now, however, I want to know what the fuck happened that left you-”He made a vague gesture that encompassed Virgil as a whole-“Like this.”
Virgil smiled ruefully and then simply said:
“Thomas knows.”
Oh fuck. Oh god fucking shit. He really, really wasn't equipped for this.
“What the fuck. You told him? Like, now?” He asked, trying very hard not to panic himself.
Virgil looked at him curiously while he tried to wipe his tears away.
“I thought you-Nevermind. No, I told him after you decided to introduce yourself to him.”
“That was a month ago.” He stated dumbly, the Why are you panicking now then? left unasked.
“Yeah. I think Thomas took it well enough. He didn’t seem to hate me. I think it's just taking a while to process.”
“Congratulations! What's the fucking issue then?” He asked, still not getting what the problem was
“Did you notice that he avoided me like the plague since I told him? And that today is the first time he summons any of us for any sort of serious discussion since then?”
“Yeah, and?”
“I think he wants to tell the others about me, to see what he should do.”
Oh shit. Fuck. Okay, no, he definitely wasn't equipped to deal with any of this bullshit. He was, quite literally, the least tactful side out of all of them and this conversation felt too much like trying to disable a ticking bomb that was about to explode at the minimal error. He didn't have enough brain cells to deal with this shit alone and-
Wait. Brain cells. Logan
Logan could help. He was the literal voice of reason and was smart enough to already know, or at the very least suspect, that Virgil had been once one of them, so telling him about this entire not-fun mess so he could help calm Virgil the fuck down wouldn't make things worse. Yeah, that seemed reasonable. He’d go get Logan.
Remus made a gesture and summoned a box of tissues (It was a little damaged on the exterior but the tissues were usable, thank fuck) and he threw it at Virgil’s lap, who looked at him like he had grown a second head, although that would probably have been less surprising.
“Okay. Stay here. I’ll be right back.” Remus informed Virgil as calmly as he could and then immediately broke into a dead sprint towards Logan’s room.
Upon arriving, he knocked on the door rather loudly and after the door opened he was greeted by a surprised, if mildly annoyed, logical side.
“Remus? May I inquire what you are doing here? Deceit has just severed my connection to the others and while I doubt he means harm I must get back to them before-”
“Virgil is having a mental breakdown in the commons.” Remus interrupted and Logan immediately shut up.
“I beg your pardon?”
“He thinks that Thomas is going to discuss with you three what to do about him now that Thomas knows he was one of us before.” He summarized. Logan blinked.
“Oh dear, Thomas knows? Nevermind that, you can inform him that that is not why we were summoned, Thomas was upset and confused after the wedding disaster and he wanted to talk to Roman and Patton about it. He has no reason to fear. Speaking of which, I should really get back to-”
“Absolutely not. You tell him that” Remus ordered while he grabbed Logan by the wrist and started walking to the commons.
“Let go of me! If he becomes aware that I knew he will- Remus! I am busy at the moment!” Logan argued while he fruitlessly tried to wiggle free out of Remus’ iron grip
“Nope. You are his friend. You are coming with me to deal with this and that is final.”
“Remus!”
The duke continued to drag Logan to the commons and once there, he shoved him into Virgil’s lap, who froze like a deer caught in headlights the moment he saw Logan.
“You two talk while I go make some tea.” He decided, remembering how Janus had nothing short of chugged an entire kettle of Chamomile after the whole courtroom fiasco to calm himself down, and deciding a cup of it might help Virgil now.
He went to the kitchen and decided to put some water to boil instead of summoning the cups, since A) He always had trouble summoning things that weren’t dirty, broken and/or cursed and B) He thought it might be better to give the other two some time and space so they could talk in peace. He watched them talk from beside the stove and while he couldn't hear what they were saying, he could see Virgil slumping in relief and then give Logan the tiniest of smiles.
As he watched quietly from afar how Logan tenderly helped wipe the ruined eyeshadow out of Virgil’s face while he seemed to say something that made the anxious side laugh softly, Remus couldn’t help the weird feeling that settled into his chest, a dull ache that left him feeling more alone than he had felt in a long while and left him yearning for something he couldn't quite name.
He shook his head, trying to physically get rid of those weird mushy sad feelings, and went to look for some cups and the teabag. He found them just as the kettle started to whistle, so he dropped the tea bag into the boiling water and while he waited for the tea to be ready he went to look for spoons and some sugar. Once he had them in hand he realized he didn't actually know how sweet did either of the other two like their tea so he decided to just take it to the living room and let the others decide for themselves.
He checked to see if the other two were still talking and ,upon seeing that they had moved from the floor to the couch and that Virgil was quietly curled up beside Logan, he had to squash that feeling again. He turned and balanced the cups and spoons into one hand while he held the sugar in the other while mindlessly grabbing the kettle with one of his tentacles. Just before stepping out of the kitchen he saw the cookie jar and on a whim decided to grab that too.
Logan looked up from the couch and blinked, looking at Remus a bit surprised and it was then that he realized that it was the first time any of the others saw him use his tentacles. Ah, well, it was Logan. He had seen him do weirder stuff.
“I made Chamomile, Deceit says it has calming properties or some shit.” He informed them while he placed the three cups and sugar jar into the coffee table.
“That was very thoughtful and kind of you, Remus.” Logan acknowledged.
Remus visibly brightened at the praise, one of his tentacles carefully pouring the tea into the cups while the other popped the cookie jar open and left it in the table without him needed to look at them.
“Gross. Why can’t you just use extra hands like a normal side?” Virgil asked looking disgusted by the entire thing.
“Simple: Aesthetic” Remus replied with a smile.
“I still hate them with a passion” Virgil said while gesturing to the tentacles with his spoon “But I can respect that.” He conceded.
“Ah, excuse me, but before I can settle down to uh, chill?” Logan paused while looking at Virgil ,who just nodded, before he continued “I must go back to check on the others and make sure they dont require my assistance anymore.”
Logan got up from the sofa and sank out, leaving Remus and Virgil alone.
Remus sat as far away from Virgil as the couch would allow while silently taking sips of his tea and eating cookies, trying to force himself to shut up as to not break the frail and unspoken truce that hung in the air between him and the emo. Oddly enough, in the end, it was Virgil who broke the silence.
“Why did you do it?” Virgil asked Remus without lifting his gaze from his teacup.
“I already told you, Janus says it has some sort of-”
“No! Not the tea, you idiot!” Virgil interrupted Remus, trying his best to suppress a smile. “Why did you...help me?” He asked, now looking at the duke, his expression and his voice guarded.
“You know there is no rime or reason to what I do, I just do.”
“Remus. Please.”
“I-Listen.” Remus took a deep sigh. “I know you hate my guts and that our relationship was never quite the best, but-”
“Understatement of the century.”
“But!” He continued, “Before you left I…”
Remus paused and then, hesitantly, he said “Even if I have never been able to express it as effusively or clearly like, say, Patton might, I thought of you as a friend.” A pause. Then, more quietly, as he took another sip of tea. “A dear one at that.”
Virgil’s glare immediately softened.
“Remus, I-” Virgil started but was interrupted by Logan popping back up.
The logical side took one deep breath and then proceeded to grab his cup from the table and take a big gulp with the expression of a man who probably wished it’s contents were something a lot more stronger than tea. Remus could relate.
They watched in silent bewilderment as the usually very composed side carelessly left his cup in the table before letting himself fall onto the couch between Remus and Virgil. Logan sighed again and rubbed at his eyes behind his glasses in a blatant act of frustration.
“It is the furthest thing from my intention to come off as dramatic, but I swear if Roman and Patton do not calm down soon and start to actually listen to others then I will be forced to commit arson.”
“Neat! I’ll gladly help you set things on fire, Logan”
“No one its setting anything on fire, Remus.” Virgil interjected “What happened?”
“Deceit and I made some, I would say, valid arguments and gave a reasonably good advice on how to handle Thomas’ new emotional crisis and they proceeded to ignore it until the problem blew up in their faces it, but what else is new?”He said, his hands still covering his eyes behind his glasses. He paused for a second “Well, at least Patton seemed to have had seen sense when I left so I’d say its progress.”
“Uh, hold up, go back a little bit: You sided with Deceit on an argument?” Virgil asked looking at Logan like he had gone insane.
“We merely suggested that Thomas should actually put himself first for once in his life and stop neglecting his mental health so much, even if that means to be selfish from time to time” Logan explained as calmly as he could.
“How could you think that-” Virgil began before the other cut him off.
“I am not going to start arguing about this with you too, Virgil. If you wanted to give your opinions on this matter so desperately, you should have done your job and showed up.”Logan snapped.
Silence. Logan’s face looked like he regretted those words the moment they left his mouth and Virgil looked like he had been punched.
“Yikes.”Remus said eloquently. “Does anyone want a cookie?” He offered while shaking the cookie jar and that seemed to break the tension that hung in the air. Virgil bit back a laugh at the stupidity of the situation and Logan’s lip quirked upwards in the barest hint of a smile.
“You know what? Yeah, I want one, pass the jar, Duke” Virgil said.
“That is very kind of you, Remus, but I believe I will pass for the time being, thank you.” Logan politely declined.
“Suit yourself.” Remus replied while he threw Virgil the cookie jar, who catched it with minimal fumbling. “I don’t like to insert myself in conversations that clearly are none of my business but-”
“Since when?”
“Shut the fuck up. As I was saying, but before coming here I saw Deceit before he left to join the discussion and he said he was, and I am quoting, going to get this bitch some self-care if it is the last thing he does, so I personally think that the chances of this being a super evil secret plot to ruin Thomas’ life are rather low, emo” He explained.
“Ah, while that is a crude way to put it, it still summarizes our intentions: We just wanted to, uh, get this bitch some self-care.” Logan said awkwardly.
“I-” Virgil sighed. “I don’t trust Deceit and I don’t think that he is honestly doing this out of the goodness of his heart, but I do trust you, Logan, so if you think that Thomas should take more care of himself, then I will not argue.” He said, resigned.
“That's…”Logan paused, looking a bit touched. “Very mature of you, Virgil. Thank you” He finished lamely.
“Besides, you were right, if I wanted to give my opinion on this I should have shown up.” Virgil shrugged.
Logan looked like he wanted to argue and probably apologize about saying that when Roman  popped up, looking incredibly distressed. And, upon seeing Remus sitting on the couch with the others, his expression soured even more.
“How many times do I have to chase you out of the commons before you get it? Your kind is not allowed here.” Roman said while he summoned his sword. Virgil visibly cringed at Roman’s phrasing.
Remus was about to put his cup down, summon his morning star and knock a bitch out so he could finish his tea in peace, when Logan got up and put himself between them.
“It’s okay Roman, he is not up to any nefarious acts, we were merely having tea together.” Logan explained, moving his hands in a placating manner as if to gently coarse Roman into lowering his sword. The Prince’s grip around his katana tightened.
“Why would you even want to have tea with this-this evil and deranged-”Roman started but Virgil cut him off.
“Roman, that's enough. He saw me being very, uh, lets say, distressed about something and wanted to help, that's why he is here”
Something in Roman's eyes changed after he heard what his brother did.
He helped Virgil. Of course he did. Roman was laughing at someone’s name while his brother helped his friend calm down.
The prince’s expression quickly morphed from rage to an empty and defeated look that had no place in Roman’s face. He looked completely exhausted.
“I-Of course, of course you’d defend him. Of course I am the evil twin.” He sighed, visibly deflating. Remus looked at Roman confused. What the fuck was that about? Why was everyone so emotional today?
“Uh-what do you mean you are the evil twin? Roman?” Virgil asked, looking at the prince with clear worry written across his face.
Roman decided to ignore that question and just made his  katana disappear before dragging his hands across his face and giving a long and tired sigh. He stared numbly at them for a minute before turning and walking towards the hallway. “I’m going to my room, please do not disturb me unless it is an emergency.” He stated, his voice shaking slightly.
“Wait, Roman!” Virgil stood up with the intention of following him to find out what happened but a tentacle grabbed his hoodie and pulled him back down.
“Leave him be, emo, I think he needs to be alone for a minute.” Remus stated, his tone laced with something dangerously close to concern. His own words made him pause for a second and then, more quietly: “I cannot believe I just said that. I am worried about my brother. What the fuck.”
“But-” Virgil started, struggling to get the tentacle off of him.
“I do have to agree with Remus, Virgil.” Logan interrupted, “Roman seemed way too upset, so going to try and talk to him now might be counterproductive. Being seen in such a vulnerable state when he doesn't want to could cause him to lash out without meaning to, which, if he does for some reason actually believe he has become “The evil twin”-no offence, Remus-”
“None taken.”
“-will only make him feel worse” Logan concluded.
Virgil looked like he wanted to argue but after a couple of seconds he just threw his hands up in surrender and frustration, “FINE! You win, I will wait. Now let go of my hoodie before your disgusting tentacles ruin it.”
Remus briefly considered to hold on tighter and maybe rub more tentacles on the emo’s hoodie just to piss Virgil off, but he ended up deciding against it: If he tried that the emo would probably go feral and try to tear his tentacles off of him on by one in bloody revenge and ,while that certainly could be fun, he was ,surprisingly, enjoying talking with these two and didn't want to end their little get together in such a gorey way (Not yet, anyways).
He let go.
Virgil glumpily swiped imaginary slime off his hoodie and grabbed a cookie, stuffing it in his mouth angrily. Remus looked at him amused, and he was about to start mocking the emo for throwing a fit like a little baby when Patton popped up.
The moral side looked tired, his entire being radiating an aura of bone-deep exhaustion, the type that was both physical and mental and left one completely drained, and yet, his face still had the ghost of a smile on it. His state might have been nothing compared to the wreck Roman had been when he popped up, but he clearly wasn't fine either.
When Patton’s eyes landed on Remus, still comfortably sitting on the sofa with Logan and Virgil, he stiffened up and blinked slowly, like he was unsure of what he was seeing.
“Um, hi everyone.” He greeted awkwardly. He paused for a second, still looking at Remus with clear confusion, “Uh, Remus, kiddo, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way but, um, what are you doing, um, here?”
“Oh, don't worry! Nothing you could say to me would ever be able to offend me!” Remus waved Patton’s concern away gleefully, “I was just having a relaxing tea with these two dorks after Virgil’s mental breakdown!” Remus explained and the emo choked on his cookie.
“Virgil’s what now?” Patton asked as the remains off his smile fell and he grew serious.
“Nothing Pat, don’t worry, I’m fine, I promise” Virgil said, trying to stop the moral side’s fretting before it began. “I was a bit anxious about something and Logan and Remus helped me calm down.” He explained calmly.
“Oh, that's just a load of bullshit: He was this close to having a panic attack because he thought-” Remus started, and he wasn't ACTUALLY going to tell Patton the real reason Virgil freaked out, even if he thought that the moral side would do nothing but love and support the emo for “Growing” and “Changing his ways” and other disgusting stuff if he found out the truth, but Virgil interrupted him anyways.
“Remus, I swear to God, I will gouge your eyes out with a teaspoon if you don't shut up. Do not test me” Virgil hissed.
“Ooh, kinky~” He replied without missing a beat and beaming.
“Oh, you mother-”
“Patton, I promise Virgil is fine now and there is no need to worry about it anymore.” Logan interjected before the fight could escalate.
“Are you sure?” Patton asked, still looking troubled.
“Positive.” Logan said in a tone that screamed stop asking. Patton seemed to get the hint.
“Okay then…”Patton said, still unsure but deciding to back off for now. “Well, you kiddos have fun with your tea party, I have to go check on Roman, we had a little scuffle out there and he was very upset before sinking out.”
“Pardon me, Patton, but do you think that going to check on him right now is a good idea?” Logan asked, a tad concerned.
“What do you mean if I think it is a good idea? I will not leave him alone when he is upset!” Patton said, looking slightly offended at the suggestion.
“He means you look like shit.”
“Remus!” Virgil hissed.
“What?! He does! Even I can tell he is not fine! He can’t help anyone if he is about to have a breakdown himself!” Remus argued.
“I actually meant-” Logan started, but Patton’s sigh interrupted him.
“Yeah, I know, but after what happened in the video, I can’t help but worry about him.” Patton explained, tired.
The three sides that sat in the sofa looked at Patton surprised at his confession for a second and then at each other, seeming to come to a silent agreement.
“I did not meant that you shouldn’t check on Roman, Patton.” Logan started, his voice oddly soft. “I meant that I think it would benefit both of you to take a moment to breathe and calm down separately before starting what, I can only assume, will be an emotionally taxing discussion.”
Patton nodded, seemingly resigned. Remus summoned a mug, it’s green exterior was chipped in some areas and it’s handle was broken, but it was clean and could keep what you poured inside warm.
“Would you want some tea?” He offered cheerfully.
“Yeah, a warm drink would be nice right now, thank you” Patton said, the ghost of a smile back in his face and his eyes soft.

Assassin Logan AU
A/N: Hiii!!  so this idea is credited to this post!  from @bleepblopbloop56 This is just a small lil thing I wrote based off it and I may or may not do more but idk it depends.  Anywhoodle I hope yall enjoy!!  (I totally did not write this and some notes on it instead of doing school wtfdym????)
Agent Crofter,
We have intel that Brewers and Slythe are holding a large venue in their private building on 4th St tomorrow at 21:00.  Our sources say that most of the attendees will likely have information in regards to their underground dealings. Your objective is to obtain one of these individuals and bring them in for questioning.
All other guests are to remain in tact, and oblivious.  You know the drill. Everything you will need to gain access to the venue are enclosed.  Stay vigil, Agent.
A.A.I.
Logan looked at the fake ID and invitation that had been sent by the Authorized Assassins Initiative.  He sighed.  Yet another social, “no blood” mission.  He was honestly getting sick of these.  He’d much rather do missions that involved simply breaking and entering, sneaking past or killing anyone in his way, getting the job over and done with, and leaving.  Unfortunately, his new employers didn’t operate quite that way.  He had to deal with far more “undercover” missions since working with the government.  He burned the note, per procedure and protocol, then proceeded to ready himself for tomorrow’s events.
~~~
“Oh c’mon, Virgie, ya can’t just stay locked up in that dungeon you call your apartment!” said a voice on the other line.
“Yes, I can, Rem.  And I plan on it.  For a long time,” Virgil replied.  His friend was currently trying to convince him to go to his party on the 20th floor, and Virgil repeatedly denied.  He hated parties.  Way too many people all getting drunk and talking about things he didn’t understand?  Yeah.  That sounded like a blast.
“Virgil, I swear, I am going to get you outta that rat’s nest.  You need t’lighten up a lil!  Tell ya what.  You come tomorrow, and I leave you alone for a whooollee week,” the voice replied.  Virgil could just hear the pretentious smirk in his voice, the one Remy always wore when he knew he’d worn someone down and was about to get his way.
“..A month.”  A dramatic, offended scoff came from the other line.
“You hurt me Virgie!  Two weeks.”
“Three.”
“Two, and I’ll throw in two large meat lover’s supreme and that coffee you liked so much.”
“Done.”  Click.
Virgil hung his head and sighed.  Damnit.  He’d just agreed to go to a party for two weeks of peace and fancyass coffee.  Well..  At least he’d have a decent amount of food for a little while.
~~~
Logan had gotten through the security without much of a problem.  He only brought the invitation and identification as a back-up since he went in through the “back door” as they call it.  He was currently at the party and donned a dark blue dress that complimented his form, according to Roman that is, and had a knife hidden on his person, strapped to his thigh under the dress.
He assessed his surroundings.  The party seemed to take up the entire floor, and Logan made mental notes of all the different rooms, corners, crevices, etc. so as to have the ability to make use of them later on in the night.  There was an open bar and buffet table brandished with all kinds of outlandish design and food, a large terrace/balcony with more fancy furnishings, more than one set of bathrooms including a few single stall rooms for nonbinary and transgendered individuals, a ballroom, and much more.  The entire floor was crowded with people, most of which were enjoying the food, chatting it up with the other rich folk and boasting about this and that, and taking full advantage of the open bar.
Once Logan had the place mapped out, he began searching for a target.  There was a man in a black suit with a deep purple dress shirt and no tie.  The man stayed near the walls, as if trying to remain unseen.  Logan frowned slightly.  He seemed a bit..  Out of place.  And yet he wore an expensive suit complete with slacks, shoes and jeweled cufflinks, and more importantly he was here.  He must have the kind of info he needed.  ..right?

For the prompt thing: Logince with either “I’m not gonna let you get yourself killed!” or “I’m in love…shit” - Roman-is-a-gay 💜👑
(This took a long ass time, I apologize lmao. Congratulate yourself for being my first prompt I've posted in a while and the first sanders sides writing thing I've posted since I finished the theatre fic)
Prompt Tags: @roman-is-a-gay @fandersunite @anxious-fander-talian-bean @smileydog101
Word count: 2,003 (I took this and ran ya yeet)
Warning(s): character injury (nothing graphic trust me), mention of weapons (does that count? I dunno; either way if there's something I should mention tell me and I'll edit it)
Logan didn't know how he let Roman convince him to go on his stupid quest. He didn't even know why Roman wanted him to join him. But he agreed to it anyway. He had a soft spot for the guy.
Not that he would let anyone know that, of course.
There was a certain reason he had that soft spot for Roman. And, yes, of course he denied it the first chance he got. Logan, developing feelings for someone? Highly unlikely.
Or so he thought.
The more he obsessed with it, the more he realized it was true. And denying it wasn't doing him any good, so he accepted his fate. Besides, he figured there was no way Roman would reciprocate his feelings. And if his theory was proven true at any point in time, then he would make himself forget he ever thought what he did.
Inconveniently, Roman would prove it wrong by interacting with him as much as possible. It seemed platonic. Whether he had any romantic intentions, Logan wasn't sure. He was enough of a tease to make it hard to determine.
Logan kept on thinking about things as he walked behind Roman. Why was he invited along? Did Roman have different plans that what he said he did? Was he acting sincere around him or faking it?
Logan was so deep in thought that Roman practically had to yell at him to get his attention. The other jumped as a result.
“Logan!”
“What?”
“Didn't you hear me? Where do we need to go from here?”
“Oh,” he muttered. The issue wasn't as bad as Roman made it out to be. “No, I didn't hear you.”
Roman sighed loudly. “What good is having a navigator if he doesn't even navigate?! Give me the map.”
Logan reluctantly handed it over. “Where are you even planning to go, and why did you drag me along?”
Roman opened the map up directly in front of his face, blocking Logan from his view. He still answered him despite not being able to see him. “There is a castle deep in these woods that I plan on seeking out.”
“Don't you have enough of those here in your little realm?”
Roman peeked over the top of the map, raising an irritated eyebrow at the other side. “No, I don't,” he sarcastically replied. “And I brought you because you're the least talkative out of everyone and you do what I ask you to do without question. Usually no distraction, too, but that seems to not be an option today.”
Logan paused for a second. “What do you mean by that?”
Roman folded the map back up and handed it back to Logan. “I hope I don't have to do that again. Now, follow me.” He began walking forward, Logan in tow.
“You didn't answer my question.”
Roman turned his head back at him. “I was about to.” He looked at the other’s face, raising an eyebrow. “I watch you any time we talk, and I've noticed that you're kinda out of it. Is something up?”
“N-no. I'm fine. Perfectly fine.”
“If you say so.” Roman turned away and continued walking normally.
Logan licked his lips. He was super nervous now for some reason. Probably because he pretty much just got called out and denied it.
He shook his head. Why was he in denial so much recently? He was one for being up front and honest. Being direct, not avoiding subjects. Not lying. But he had done so much of that this whole time. He didn't like it, but his alternative wasn't much better. He wasn't entirely prepared for that yet.
But he was definitely prepared to get Roman's motive for going to this castle out of him.
“So, why are you going to this castle again?” he asked, almost running into a branch that Roman recklessly smacked away from himself.
The prince turned around, brandishing his sword. “Because there is a terrible beast in this castle I must slay!” He turned back around before Logan could answer.
His usual reaction would be to roll his eyes and make a sarcastic remark, but this time he didn't for some reason. His actual reaction was, “You're gonna get yourself killed!”
“I've done it multiple times before,” Roman returned with a shrug. He then swung his sword to clear out a huge mass of branches. He stepped over the resulting pile of sticks, Logan following him, into a clearing. Just ahead was the castle.
“We're nearly there,” Roman grinned confidently. “I can smell the dragon's fear. They must know we're close.” He walked out into the clearing briskly, Logan barely keeping up with him.
“If the dragon knew you were coming, then wouldn't you think it would be prepared to retaliate against you and your forces, or rather just your force?”
“Perhaps, but I mustn't let that deter me from my quest!” He stopped walking as something was blocking his path. Logan once again nearly knocked into him.
“Will you stop with your sudden...stops?! I've nearly rammed into you more than once this entire trek, and I don't plan on doing it anymore!” he squawked.
“Well, there's no need to plan anything else, my dear friend,” Roman assured him. “We're there as soon as we cross this bridge.” He gestured towards it.
The castle could have been a hellhole inside for all they knew, because the outside proved otherwise; it looked innocent, no visible dangers to be seen nearby. The walls seemed a bit faded, but who knew how long it had stood there. Cracks ran along the bricks of the bridge, which was over what looked like an endless chasm. They walked across as quickly as they could, hoping nothing would happen as they did so. They did end up crossing safely, but it was the least of their worries. What would be inside the castle terrified them even more.
Roman took a tentative step into the darkness before them, Logan following him as usual. A few steps led them to a huge room dimly lit by torches on the wall. From what they could see, nothing was there. Roman still looked around, in case something were to pop up out of the dark. He was met by a pair of glowing yellow eyes. He raised his sword up.
“Who dares to disturb my slumber?” the dragon roared.
“It is I, the magnificent Prince Roman! You have preyed on my land for too long, beast, and I'm here to put an end to it! You've met your maker, so prepare to lose!”
“What makes you think you have it in you to defeat me? Who's to say I am the one pillaging your land in the first place, mortal?”
“Many have spotted you flying around after many tragedies, and so they have tracked your directions. They lead to here.”
“Fair enough. But, you still did not answer my first question, my dear. Do you honestly think you can defeat me?”
“What makes you think I can't?”
The dragon let out a maniacal laugh. “Oh, Roman, you fool. You say this every time, yet I nearly crush you in my grasp. And, for some reason, you keep crawling back for more.” The voice now had a more feminine tone. The yellow eyes also disappeared. “I should have taught you a lesson a long time ago. You do not learn. Maybe it's time you did.”
“What are you saying?” he questioned.
“I'm saying, Roman, that I'm trying to get rid of you for once and for all.”
Roman gasped. He knew now. This was no ordinary dragon. In fact, it wasn't even really a dragon. How he didn't recognize her voice before now was a mystery to him.
Before he could speak his revelation, an arrow was fired at him. It made a home in his right shoulder. His eyes went wide while Logan screeched his name. With one glance at the arrow poking out of him, he let out a squeal and then fainted, falling backwards onto the floor. Logan quickly rushed to his side, aiding him in sitting up once he was conscious. Roman wasn't completely coherent, though, so he waited to say something until he was. As he did, the dragon witch flew down from her high perch above them, landing on the floor somewhat gently, still laughing. Logan glared at her until Roman spoke.
And when he did, he uttered one simple sentence. “The dragon witch.”
“The one and only, baby,” she snarled. She held her hands out, palms up, displaying herself to them. She flashed an evil, toothy grin.
“You don't frighten me. Not one bit.” He kept his voice from shaking as much as he could. He was more in pain than anything, and she probably knew that, but he wasn't gonna let it stop him. He had to fight.
“Don't lie, my dear, it only makes the matter worse,” she crooned, her voice still in the demonic tone. “Be honest with me. I know you want to get rid of me just as much as I want to be rid of you. But, you can't do that so easily.”
“I can and I will!” he shouted. “Even if it kills me!”
“No! I'm not gonna let you get yourself killed!” Logan interrupted. He got Roman's attention if he didnt have it already.
“I'll...I'll be fine, dude. Don't worry.”
Logan frantically shook his head. “You are far from it. I'll fight in your name. In your honor.”
“Logan, you have no experience. She'll destroy you more than she will me!”
“Then that's a risk I'm going to have to take,” he insisted. Desperation was clear in his eyes; Roman saw it. Logan cared a lot more than he thought. He kinda admired that. But would he let him take that risk, even it he didn't want him to?
He had to.
He unbuckled the belt that held the sheath of his sword and handed it over to Logan the best he could with his free arm. Logan took it quickly. He looked at Roman pitifully, wishing this didn't happen to him.
“I...I wish I could have done...more to, you know, prevent this.”
Roman shook his head. “You didn't need to. All you need to do to for me is this. Just fight.”
Logan looked down at the ground, then back at him. And, then he did something he never thought he would do: he hugged Roman.
“Of course.”
He grabbed the sword out of its sheath, leaving it with Roman, and took a few steps closer to the dragon witch. He held it up with confidence, poised and ready to fight. He had no issue in holding it; it was perfectly balanced in weight. The witch did the same with her sword, smirking as she did so.
Whatever conversation they were having, Roman blocked it out. He stared at Logan, sword in hand, and realized he was really captivated by the sight. He was even more so when they started fighting. The way he moved seemed effortless, like he had been in battle before, when in reality he never had and probably never would have had it not been for Roman. But, knowing Logan, he probably studied the moves so much he could do them from memory. He looked just as skilled as Roman himself, if not more. He moved with such elegance, such speed, such fluidity. It left Roman impressed. On top of looking like he knew what he was doing, Logan somehow physically looked good doing it. Roman didn't know how or why, but he just knew it.
Maybe it was because of the fact that it was him Logan was fighting for. It was Roman he was protecting. He admired that, a lot. Although, this time, he seemed to have admired it a lot more than he cared to realize. He thought it over once, twice, three times, until he finally got it.
“I'm in love...shit.”

TEAM (Part Two)
I forgot to mention that this fic is partially inspired by Lorde’s “Team,” hence the title. Kind of about how no matter how much you and the other characters here bicker, you’re all on each others’ team.
This is the second part to TEAM (Part One) [but I hope that’d be obvious] and therefore is inspired by the same request and has essentially the same trigger warnings.
“So, you and Ellie, huh? About time,” Logan remarks, and you feel yourself blush.
“No! It’s not like that! I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d be the luckiest girl in the world, but, uh… No, it’s not like that.”
“Are you sure about that? I’ve seen the way you two are together. When she’s not looking at you or her phone, she’s watching everyone else like a hawk, like they’re threats. Honestly, Piotr’s worried about her.”
At the mention of Wade’s friend, you’re reminded of what Logan said before, about the thing that he knew that he shouldn’t tell her, the thing Wade also knew.
“What was that, anyway? The thing you knew that you didn’t know before that you would’ve told me if you had but couldn’t tell me?”
“I’m afraid that’s Wade’s business.”
“Great,” you remark. “So, I’ll never know.”
“Listen, kid, I know the stuff he said-”
“Screamed.”
“The stuff he screamed at you was pretty fucking awful. But… He had his reasons, okay? Being around him, being as close to him as you were was dangerous. It made you a target,” Logan explains.
“When will you people realize that I can’t die forever?! I’ve died plenty of times, and I always come back! Let me make my own decisions!”
“How many times have you died, Y/N?” Logan asks.
“It’s just… Hard not to starve when my mom kicks me out over school breaks, especially with the metabolism that comes with a healing factor. I can’t stay with Wade all the time, he has himself and Al to worry about. Muggers don’t like when you don’t have money. Mom doesn’t like me when I don’t have money. I don’t know, probably like eight or nine times.”
“You should’ve come here!” Logan scolds, and you want to curl in on yourself, just like before. “I’m sorry. He and I both know just how much dying can fuck you up, so, to hear you say that you’ve died.... And that you don’t care if you do? It’s concerning, to say the least.”
“Boo-hoo, Y/N’s crazy. Who isn’t?” you remark, annoyed at his concern. Men, they always think they know better.
He sighs. “Listen. You should just talk to him, I’m sure-”
“No,” you say, and it comes out as a whimper. The wound was still fresh. “I don’t want to.”
“Hey, he’s not gonna hurt you,” Logan reassures you. “He probably feels bad for what he said, and-”
“I said no,” you cut him off, but the sad tone in your voice doesn’t make you sound very convincing.
“And he’s not gonna apologize unless he thinks you wanna hear it. You know how Wade gets when he feels guilty, he doesn’t know how to deal with it.”
“Well, I don’t wanna hear an apology. I just want him to be my friend again, like before. That’s it. I don’t care to know why, or how, or whatever. I just miss my friend,” you admit, and Logan sighs.
“Okay...”
“Is it alright if I go? I wanna get started on my Chemistry homework.”
“Yeah,” Logan says. “Go ahead. See you next Wednesday. Or, sooner, if you need anything.”
You leave the gym, making your way to your dorm  with your head down, when you bump into a familiar red-suited man.
“Sorry,” you squeak, not even able to meet the eyes of the mask, before attempting to go past him. He stops you, grabbing at your shoulder, but you flinch away. “Please d-don’t…”
“Y/N…” Wade murmurs, filled with remorse at his rampage. He’d made you scared of him, which means it worked, but he regrets how much it hurt you. “I’m not gonna hurt you.”
“You’re not, huh?” Ellie, swiftly approaching, asks. “Pretty sure you already did, Deadpool.”
“I just wanted-” he starts, but Ellie, your avenging angel, cuts him off.
“You just wanted what, huh? To terrorize them more, is that it?
“Terrorize? I-”
“You what? Didn’t? Because as someone who sleeps in the same room as Y/N, I can confirm that you did. They cry in their sleep like they did the day it happened. Did you know that, that you made them cry? I guess you do now. So, leave, before I decide I’m going to follow you out the door and blow you to Hell.”
“E-Ellie, I said not to hurt him,” you quietly tell her, and she clenches her fists, grumbling.
“You did?” Wade asks.
“Of course,” you respond meekly, tapping the tips of your fingers together and avoiding the gaze of everyone around you. and Ellie places an arm around you, glaring at Wade without mercy.
“I’m- I’m so sorry, Y/N. I- I just didn’t know what to do, so much was happening. I was so angry at the situation, so scared for your safety, and I took all that aggression out on you, the one person I should’ve been channeling those feelings into protecting, and I- I know I already said it, but I’m a blabbermouth with nothing else to say, so… I’m sorry. I’m so fucking sorry, kid. I know you probably don’t care, you just wanna start over and stay the hell away from me, but I’m sorry. And my door’s always open.”
“Thank you. I forgive you,” you nod, smiling a little, You’re already starting to feel better, more like yourself.
“You what?” Ellie questions, shaking with anger. “He hurt you. He shouldn’t ever be forgiven.”
“She’s right,” Wade agrees, head down.
“Well, it’s my forgiveness, and I can do whatever the hell I want with it,” you remind them, shrugging.
“There she is,” Wade says quietly, and you can somehow tell that he’s smiling. You don’t know if it’s body language, tone of voice, or what, but he’s smiling.
“I’m sorry for making you worry. I’m gonna keep living here, and I’m gonna keep taking better care of myself, so no one has to worry about me again,” you inform him.
“Wrong goal, but I appreciate the method. I don’t mind worrying about you, kid, but I’d rather worry about you not doing your homework than about the next time you’re gonna collapse on my porch, dead.”
“What?” Ellie wonders, and you groan. “Wait, have you died?”
“Goddammit, Wade,” you grumble. “She didn’t know that.”
“H-how?”
“Not important,” you tell her.
“No, it is, Y/N. You want all of us to get over the fact that you can die, but the truth is that you need to get over the fact that we care if you die,” Wade corrects you. There’s no malice in his tone, but the words themselves cause anxiety to slither out of the pit of your stomach like a snake and curl around your lungs and heart, maintining a tight grip.
“It’s because of you not eating or sleeping enough, isn’t it?” Ellie asks. “That’s what you guys were in that fight about the other morning, isn’t it?”
“Yeah,” you admit, and Ellie closes her eyes, taking a deep, shaky breath and trying to remain calm for your sake, for her own sake.
“Right,” she responds, sighing. “Well, I’m not letting that happen again.”
“Challenge accepted,” you chuckle, and she rolls her eyes.
“I was just on my way back to Photography. Forgot my camera. See you later.”
She makes her way in the direction of the classroom, disappearing around a corner.
“Man, if she didn’t hate me before, she sure does now,” Wade says, and you smile, shaking your head. “Really?” he asks.
“Photography is Mondays and Thursdays… And she didn’t even have her camera.”
Wade scoffs. “Well, she’s definitely taking good care of you. I always knew she would, one day. When did you two finally make it official?  I’m sorry that I missed it.”
“We haven’t made anything official, Wade, she doesn’t like me like that. We’re just close friends.”
He rolls his eyes, going to playfully shove your shoulder, but you flinch away. He sighs.
“I’m sorry,” he says again. “I- I was so cruel, I just wanted to say whatever i could to get you away, to protect you, from m-”
“From what? The thing Logan keeps talking about?”
“What thing?” he asks, sounding a bit panicked.
“He keeps saying that there’s this thing he knows that he would’ve told me if he’d known before but he shouldn’t tell me now. It’s super weird, but he said you were going to tell me before you- You-” You stop yourself from continuing, still, shaking a little bit at the memory. It was only the day before yesterday.
“Yeah,” he responds quietly. “It was part of the reason I did that. I just- Us being friends was already dangerous, and you being- You- You’re- I- I’m so sorry I left you with her, if I’d known, if I’d known she was pregnant...I would’ve done the right thing! I’m not that kind of dirtbag, you’ve gotta believe me, and I’m just so, so sorry. Everything that’s wrong with your life, maybe it wouldn’t have happened if I’d just thought- If I’d just thought, but I was young, and stupid, and there’s nothing I can do now except own up to it, own up to the fact that I- I am- I’m- Oh, please…” He practically falls into you, wrapping his arms around your neck. You feel him shake with sobs, and you cry, too, but with a different emotion. Not regret, but happiness.
“You? You’re him?” you ask, and he readjusts himself, backing away from you.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve asked before hugging, I just didn’t think it was gonna be so hard, and you’re my best friend, and I- I don’t know, I don’t know. I’m so sorry that I’m your father.”
“You are? You’re sorry?” you ask, knowing that he’s apologizing because he regrets it, regrets you and your entire existence.
“Not in the way you’re thinking! You- You deserve so much better, I wanted so much better for you,” he reassures you, or, at least, attempts to.
“How do you even know?”
“I just… I talked to Xavier to see if he had any connections that could help me find your father, and he said he did, but he insisted that I give him a sample of my DNA to see if they match before he used his connections. I laughed it off, but then… it was a match.”
“How’d you get my DNA?” You wonder.
“Oh, I stuck a cotton swab in your mouth while you were sleeping. Wasn’t hard, you’re a really heavy sleeper,” he says, and you have a faint memory of the dream you had about a week ago where you were abducted by aliens that wanted to harvest your DNA to create genetically modified pet humans for their home planet. You laugh.
“So, you found out it was a match, and then… You were angry about it? Hated that the Wilson family legacy wasn’t going to end with you?”
“No. I was angry, yeah, but at myself. I was irresponsible, and my best friend in the whole world sufferred because of it. I never recognized your mom the times I’d seen her, and we had sex!”
“You had sex with my mom? Bro code violation alert!” you joke, and he chuckles bitterly.
“Right?” he responds. “But… I don’t even know where to go from here. Things can’t go back to normal, that’s not okay. I need to step up. And, even if it was the right thing to do, going back to normal… I get the feeling that you’re not gonna be that comfortable around me for a while. I was… I was just like my dad. My worst fucking fear.”
“You’re not him, okay? I promise.”
“I should be comforting you,” he says, stepping towards you. Out of renewed instinct, you step back. He’s heartbroken.
“Try- Try not to take it personally, I’m like this with just about everybody,” you attempt to make him feel better, but he shakes his head.
“You haven’t been like this with me, not before- Before I did what I did. Said those things, those awful, untrue things. Why did I say those things? They weren’t the truth, they were the opposite of it. I love hearing from you, it makes every day better. Finding you on my couch is a great feeling, knowing that someone as great as you trusts me, sees me as someone who can keep them safe.”
“And my memes?” You ask in a sarcastically accusatory tone.
“The funniest,” he replies. “Can I- Can I give you a hug?”
You nod, and he surges forward, wrapping you up in his arms and spinning you around.
“I always hoped it’d be like that,” you quietly admit, and he beams.
“Listen, we can talk later at dinner. I think you’ve got a certain girl you need to talk to, and she and her metal accomplice are approaching.”
“I think she’s his accomplice,” you correct with a laugh.
“Gotta bounce before the hardest guy on Earth ropes me into another mission. I’ll be back, though, kid.”
“Yeah. See you soon…”
“Wade’s fine for now, unless you wanna call me something else. We can negotiate later, ‘kay? Love you, bye.” Wade scurries down the hall, not realizing that he’s going towards the dorms, not the exit.
“Wade Wilson!” calls Piotr from behind you, and you turn around to see that Ellie is far closer to you than she is to Piotr, having gone faster on her smaller, lighter legs.
“Uh, hello…” you say dumbly.
“Based on your expression, I’d say that discussion went well.”
“Very well. Thank you for giving him the opportunity to talk to me alone, I’m sure you didn’t wanna do that.”
“I didn’t, but I figured it was the best option. Tell me more on the way to the dorm.”
“Well, uh… He apologized, a lot. Not just for the fights.”
“For letting you die?”
“No. Worse.”
“Holy shit, what’d he do, and why haven’t I heard about it?” She asks, tense.
“Because I didn’t know,” you reply defensively. “He’s- He’s my biological father, Ellie.”
“Whoa… Seriously? How long has he known?”
“I don’t know, but not long, the DNA tests were recently. He just wanted to help me find my dad and when he asked Xavier if he had any way of helping, the Professor said that he had to submit a sample to be tested. Turn’s out the old man’s hunch was right. You… You still wanna be friends, right?”
“Yeah, of course, why wouldn’t I?” Ellie wonders.
“I just- I know you don’t like Wade very much, and I’m technically his daughter, so…”
“So? That doesn’t mean I don’t love you anymore,” Ellie argues, and then covers her mouth.
“You love me?”
“Yeah, but just, like, in a friend way,” she plays it off rather smoothly, in her opinion, but you sigh in disappointment before you can stop yourself. “Wait, do you love me in a not-friend way?”
“Not really sure what you wanna hear,” you respond, feeling the recently-sealed cracks in your heart refracturing.
“Do you?” she asks.
You’re silent as the two of you walk to your shared dorm.
“Y/N, I asked you a question. Do you love me as a friend, or as more?”
You feel overheated and nauseous, that’s how nervous you are. You attempt to take some steadying breaths before answering: “More.”
“Oh, thank god…” she sighs. “I- I told you on Monday, when you fell asleep with me. But you were asleep, so, you didn’t hear me… Duh… I sound so stupid right now, don’t I?”
“No, not at all! Jeez, today just keeps getting better and better, I mean it!” You exclaim.
“Can- Can I kiss you?” Ellie asks nervously, and your eyes widen, but you nod. She takes your face in her hands and just goes for it, pressing her lips to yours. You respond immediately, wrapping your arms around her neck while her hands slip past your face and into your hair, tugging gently. You let out a small, quiet moan at that, and you can feel her smirk a little. She kisses you faster, pushing her body closer to yours, and your knees give out. She catches you in the nick of time, laughing a bit at how easily flustered you are as she nudges you toward the bed, sitting there with you. “Your knees are right, we probably shouldn’t rush into things.”
“Yeah…” you admit, resting your head on her shoulder.
“I love you…” She mumbles. “I’ve loved you for a long time, actually.”
“Same here. When did you know?”
Ellie replies: “It’s kind of embarrassing.”
“I can tell you first, if you want,” you offer.
“Yeah, do that…” She says.
“I just realized that every time I was upset, you were there, making me feel better. Even if you didn’t know it. Every time my mom hit me, or I got stabbed by an asshole mugger, or I was about to faint from hunger… You were right there. Making my life better just by existing.”
“I wish I could’ve been right there in person, to help you,” Ellie says, and you shake your head.
“That’s not the point. The point is that you did, without even trying. You always make me happy, without even trying. You just have to be there and everything is better.”
“That’s really nice… I feel dumb now,” Ellie confesses.
“It’s not dumb! Probably not, I mean…” you reply, nuzzling her chest a bit as you try to get a bit cozier.
“Um...You probably don’t know this, but I used to get in fights a lot before we met. And Piotr would always lecture me, telling me it wasn’t heroic to fight out of anger. That I should fight for something, not because of something. That I should be aware of the consequences that come with fighting, and truly think about them before I did. I never understood what he meant, and then we met and became friends… Then best friends…
“I didn’t even realize that before every fight, even the ones I was assigned, I’d think about how I was going to make the world a better place for you. I’d think about what you would think if you heard what I was doing. I- I made a mistake at one point, got angry over nothing and got into another stupid, pointless fight. It was the first time in awhile I’d heard Colossus’s spiel, and I realized my thinking process with every world he spoke. It all just made me think of how I feel about you. You’d made me a better person, more mindful of the consequences of my actions, my thoughtless, immature violence. That’s when I knew.”
“Oh, shut up! That’s way better than mine and not embarrassing at all! Show-off,” you remark, and she chuckles.
“That was fucking beautiful!” Wade wails from behind the door.
“I think I liked it better when you two weren’t friends,” Ellie comments, and you smile at her, shaking your head. She takes your hand in hers and squeezes gently.
“Oh, come on. You can’t hate him. I mean, I wouldn’t exist without him, for a few reasons. I mean, he’s the one who passed me the gene for a healing factor, even if his was recessive before. And, I mean, he’s the sperm donor either way.”
“I heard that!” he shouts, and Ellie smiles at you, planting another kiss on your lips.
You could get used to this.

(on the right blog this time! \o/ )
i probably shouldve mentioned i just didnt post part 2 right away was bc i didnt want to fight with formatting again just yet, not bc it wasnt finished
and so there may or may not be a part three, but if there is it will be a while bc that one actually is still in the works
(also part one is here)
Patton was back.
He stood in the kitchen, quietly cooking up some eggs. His demeanor held none of his usual boundless energy, but at least he wasn't on the floor sobbing this time.
Logan stepped briskly out of the dark, looking like he was trying very hard to be patient. "Patton, please, Virgil has already talked to you about this. You cannot keep coming in here, what if Deceit finds you?"
Patton cast him a halfhearted grin, and Logan noted with some relief that he had not yet sprouted scales. However, even in the low light it was clear the skin on his face was starting to turn blue and waxy. "Well then he'll get to enjoy a nice breakfast with us!"
"I seriously doubt that would be enjoyable for anyone involved. Besides, given his different anatomy we have no idea if he even eats the same--"
"Way ahead of you, teach," Patton said, flipping the pan in his hand--and stumbling back as he abruptly remembered that you can't actually do that if the pan has something in it. Half-cooked splattered across the stove, the counter, the floor...
"...well that, didn't go eggactly how I planned."
Logan pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a long sigh. He snapped his fingers and the mess was gone.
"Patton," he said. Patton shrunk back a bit, still managing to hold a sheepish grin. "What are you doing here. There's nothing to be gained here, you know this."
"Well," he shrugged. "Maybe there, is something to be gained."
"Oh really. Like what."
"Like-- I don't know, I just think that maybe some good could come from it! ..Virgil told me last time that I have to try to actually make things happen instead of just lying to myself, but-- sometimes its hard! And sometimes its nice to just.. come back and.. believe those things again."
"No, I will not have you coming here, by yourself, so you can live some, fantasy." He punctuated the word "fantasy" with a flip of the wrist, as though such a frivilous idea requires visible dismissal. "Besides, didn't you say lying is wrong? You made your stance quite clear on that."
"With some exceptions!" Patton corrected with a grin as he put the pan back on the stove, fresh, raw eggs already in it to replaced the ones he'd flung. His left eye started to catch the light oddly. "And y'know I really do think we can get Deceit to come around!"
Logan sighed as the other Side resumed cooking. Or trying to, at least. He did not seem to notice that the stove had been turned off when Logan disappeared the mess earlier. "You're lying to yourself, Patton. No one else even wants him around; its doubtful even he wants to be around. Why would you bother?"
Patton clicked his tongue and waved a disapproving spatula at him. "That's where you're wrong, kiddo. I want him around, and I know he does too."
Logan's patience was starting to wear thin. "Oh, really," he huffed. "Well what makes you think that then?"
"Because if he didn't, he wouldn't go through all this trouble for me."
Logan stopped short, staring at Patton. The moral side grinned cheekily back at him.
"Wh-what trouble, what do you mean, what trouble is he going through?"
Patton flicked his head with a grimace of mock-secondhand embarrassment. "Y'know... for someone who's whole thing is lying, you're not very good at it."
Logan quite strongly resembled a deer caught in headlights as the color drained from his face. "I-- I don't know what you mean."
"Oh come on. I'm not just a pretty face. I can see what you've been doing." Patton's left cheek had completely parted into scales by this point. Great. Apparently Deceit's influence either turned him into an absolute wreck or made him confident and cheeky. Logan wasn't sure which was worse.
"I talked to Virgil about it the next day and he had no idea what I was talking about. So it was a little weird to find all my knitting supplies in my room, since he wouldn't've known to come back and get them.
"Also--" He held up a finger at Logan, who was beginning to sweat. "Don't think I didn't notice that one of those friendship bracelets were missing."
He snapped his fingers at Logan, who automatically held his wrist in his other hand to hide his watch as he felt it change back into a knitted strip of green and yellow.
Patton laughed with delight. "See, I knew you'd come around!"
"No, no, I definitely don't like you coming here. Youre becoming entirely too confident, it needs to stop."
Patton seemed too caught up in his excitement and triumph over being right to form words, and instead only grinned and made, some, odd gesture that was probably meant to be air punches or fingerguns but ended up being an awkward combination of the two.
"Seriously though, you do need to leave, this much exposure to this part of the mind palace is not healthy."
"Oh well all right," Patton pouted. "But onl--oh, whoops." He interrupted himself by accidentally smacking the pan handle. He took a second to make sure it was fine and that he actually had room this time before continuing. "But only if you come by for breakfast sometime!" he said, pointing at the other Side as though to ensure he understood the seriousness of the request.
Logan sighed, rubbing his forehead. "Yes, fine, just, please leave, I cannot handle you like this."
Patton laughed as he started to sink. "Alright kiddo, seeya tomorrow!"
"Wh-- tomorrow? No I didn't agree to--"
He spluttered to a halt and stared in exasperation at the now-empty spot on the floor.
apparently people wanted to be tagged in this?? :o

“Happy birthday!” Roman cheered, crashing into Dmitri.
Without looking up, Dmitri easily caught Roman in his arms, “My birthday isn’t for two weeks,” he sighed, his exasperation being melted as Roman nuzzled him further.
“Mmm shut up,” Roman dragged Dmitri behind him in the parking lot, the school bell ringing, “We had a deal so stop pouting,” he said, sing-song.
“It’s not a pou...Then why are we going to my car,” Dmitri said, expression souring and no it wasn’t a pout, he does not pout--
“Because, ” Roman said, expression sly in the way that always made Dmitri’s stomach flip, “You’re a babe, and I love you dearly, but Virgil’s car is his baby and some lines aren’t meant to be crossed.”
“Uh,” Dmitri ignored his blush, “Noted.”
-
“I’m surprisingly in one piece,” Dmitri said as they got out, “With all those cute faces you make when concentrating it was a wonder I got out alive.”
“Shut up!” Roman shoved him lightly.
Dmitri caught his hand swinging it between them, “Where are we anyway?” he vaguely recognized the park.
It was one of the smaller ones around, with it’s old, weathered playground blending almost seamlessly with the unruly trees. The discarded toys and cracked pavements so achingly familiar that he had to second guess whether or not he actually could hear children laughing.
Roman looked up at him, lips quirked, “Don’t you remember? It’s where we first met,”
“But we met in 8th--” he stopped as something clicked, his hand drifting to his scar automatically, “Huh, church camp?” he looked at Roman curiously, “There were a dangerously high amount of kids who went there, how did you even know me?”
“We were...always the last kids picked up,” Roman said, "Virgil and I always had each other or Remy to keep each other company, but you…” he got a faraway look and he rubbed his arms self consciously, “You always looked so... lonely...I guess I never really forgot.”
Dmitri sighed pushing a stray curl from Roman’s face, “You’re so sappy,” Dmitri murmured with a fond look, effectively pulling Roman back down to earth.
He didn't bother to linger on the memories for too long, instead pulling Roman along gently, “Let’s see if those rusty swings still work, eh?”
----
“Stop fidgeting,” Roman whined, the flower crown falling limp in Dmitri’s hair. Dmitri continued to ignore his request, choosing to press his face into Roman’s stomach, much to their distress.
“How do you expect me to just ignore such a fuckin’ snack?” Dmitri said, muffled in Roman’s skin.
Sure the ground pressed into him at an uncomfortable angle, but Dmitri had the important job of figuring out if that was a new freckle he spotted. He planned on being thorough. Roman eventually relented to the very important investigation, dandelions falling to the wayside as Dmitri shifted him onto his back.
Even when Roman managed to reluctantly bat him away, Dmitri still looked mighty pleased with his new spot between Roman’s thighs.
“Having fun?” Roma drawled, resigned.
“Always,” Dmitri’s immediately said. He cupped Roman’s face, hair falling in waves around them as he leaned down.
“Mmm,” Roman hummed, the air warm, “Do you want your real birthday gift now?”
Dmitri’s eyes narrowed, “Roman…” he said, warningly.
“Hush,” Roman said, no whine in his tone. Instead, it was of calm reassurance, “I didn’t buy you anything. I just got a bit nosy…”
“What do you…”
“I talked to a few old friends who knew Emile--”
Dmitri stiffed, pulling back, “-- he left without a word, he fucking hates--this town.”
“Dmitri, let me finish,” Roman said softly, slipping a hand on their shoulder and sitting up, “I asked a few of his old friends, got in touch with him,” he explained, “He’s living with a few cousins in California, he’s doing well...and...and I asked him about you…”
“He fucking hates me.”
“No, he misses you.”
----
Dmitri slid into the driver’s seat before Roman could protest and soon enough they were driving back in silence.
It had been a long time since it’s been this...awkward between the two. Sure they have their quiet moments, but it was never like this…. Roman had never done well with silence, even if Dmitri seemed to thrive in it.
Roman twisted his hands, forcing himself to speak, “Dee...I’m sorry if I overstepped your boundaries. I know it’s a sensitive subject,” he said.
Dmitri’s remained intently focused on the road, “You were being thoughtful, a prince as always,” he said with a smile.
That smile.
You know the one.
“That’s some god-awful bullshit,” Roman said, “You're angry.”
“Not at you,” Dmitri said, far too quickly.
“It’d be okay if you were,” Roman said and Dmitri’s face faltered, “As much as you claim me to be faultless, that little conversation about boundaries applies to me as well. It’s your birthday gift, so it’s your choice what to do from here.”
“Does this...gift have a receipt…”
“It can if you want it to.”
“And if I…” Dmitri's voice cracked, but he continued, “If I don’t want it to…”
“I have his new number and you have all the time in the world. Don’t stress about it he’ll understand.”
Dmitri wanted to think Roman was lying. God, he wanted it to be a lie because the truth curled in his mouth like a foul aftertaste. It rose in him and consumed him completely.
He was afraid, so fucking-goddamn afraid.
He saved the number regardless.
