CP9 Cat Headcanons

This is... a very silly post. XD After seeing a similar concept on Pixiv (images 10–12 in this log) and critiquing the breed choices it used, I wound up writing my own take on it.

These are written with actual cats in mind (not my usual Hybrid Au), and the breed choices are just for fun— as in, largely chosen based on looks/vibes, not anything too serious. I was definitely channeling that early 2000s "characters are cats for some reason now" mini-genre, so these are pure fluff/comedy, for once... >3>

(Bengal)

Serial toy murderer. Violently destroys any and every toy you give him within a matter of hours, days at MOST. 

Some of the things he’s done to his toys probably qualify as war crimes tbh. Likes to drown the catnip mice in his water dish. Also enjoys tearing things into ragged chunks/”gutting” the stuffing. 

Sometimes you wake up to him on your chest with a present. 

(A chunk of mutilated cat toy. He drops it onto your face.)

The most athletic cat you’ll ever know. There is no surface in your house he can’t reach SOMEHOW. Also can and will learn how to open doors, drawers, etc, and will use this unfortunate skill to get into everything if he’s bored. 

Affectionate, but only on his terms. You don’t decide when you’re allowed to pet him; when the mood strikes, he’ll interrupt whatever you’re doing and forcefully put his body in your lap. 

You’re not allowed to move until he decides you’re done. :) 

Has a surprisingly cute kneading habit. He’ll go Baby Mode and make biscuits for hours. Sucks on certain blankets too.

ZOOMIES TO THE MAX.

Seemingly never sits still. Will run from one end of your house to the other at all hours of the day. At night, you’re regularly woken up by the distinct rapid thumping of galloping kitty paws.

Likes high places and unexpected perching spots. This includes your shoulder— and he can make the jump on his own! 

Playful, but not prone to destroying his toys. Prefers batting hard objects down a flight of stairs to tearing the plush ones open.

Too brave (and curious) for his own good. Lacks any sense of danger when it comes to investigating something that’s caught his interest. 

This includes slipping through the front door.

Not super cuddly, but likes being near you/keeping an eye on what you’re doing. 

Has a squeaky “old man” meow. WEH!

Jabra

(Egyptian Mau)

Wild, playful, curious, and so very destructive. If he’s not kept entertained, your property will suffer for it. 

Requires FREQUENT play and attention, but fortunately, he’s not too hard to please. Throwing a squishy ball for “fetch” can keep him occupied for hours. 

The asshole cat who will make direct eye contact with you before (very deliberately) knocking something off a shelf, then sit there smugly while you try to scold him. 

Very talkative! When he wants your attention, he YELLS, and seeing wildlife outside always brings out that excited, bloodthirsty chitter. 

Taking him to the vet is an ordeal, for everyone involved...

Doesn’t mind being pet and handled. Pesters you for affection regularly, but gets bitey when he’s had enough. :/ 

Highly territorial. Will not tolerate other cats/animals near him.

Kalifa

(Turkish Angora)

Truly the embodiment of the “disdainful gorgeous fancy cat” trope. 

Her fur is incredible, due largely in part to near-constant grooming. Do NOT interrupt her washing. 

She’ll wash your fingers too if she’s feeling affectionate. Mlem mlem mlemmmm...

Likes to be involved in what you’re doing. The kind of cat to walk across your keyboard or loaf-sit on top of stray paperwork, seemingly oblivious to how badly she’s getting in the way. 

At least your “adorable secretary” makes for good moral support!

Not overly playful, but she can be a DEADLY hunter when the mood strikes— fast, agile, and with amazing reflexes no matter what kind of toy you put in front of her. 

Weirdly fickle about when you’re allowed to touch her. Will glare, hiss, and swat at fingers if you test those boundaries.

Blueno

(Norwegian Forest Cat)

The most quiet, low-maintenance, independent cat imaginable. You nearly forget he exists, sometimes.

Not much of a meower, but has a deep, calming, rumbly purr. 

Content to curl up on a chair or in a corner and let you go about your day! He’ll alternate between napping and silently staring in your general direction; the eye contact is a sign of affection. <3

Won’t seek out attention on his own, but also won’t fight it if you pick him up and carry him around like a plushie. 

...he stays limp and docile no matter what you do to him, actually.

Needs regular brushing, or his fur starts to matt. It’s pretty much the only “extra attention” he’ll require, though, and he’s (fortunately) cooperative about it. 

Learned how to open doors at some point. You don’t know how he managed that.

Fukurou

(Persian)

R O U N D (and it’s not just fluff)

Despite being shaped like a furry bowling ball, he’s quite playful, and way more agile/fast-moving than you’d expect. 

...that energy is much less cute when his full weight lands on your abdomen in the middle of the night, however.

VERY affectionate. Will take any opportunity to lay his chin on your palm, headbutt your shoulder/wrists, put his paws on your chest so he can try to lovingly lick your face, etc— purring all the while! 

Chatty cat!! Chirps and squeaks at you non-stop; if you “respond” to him, it turns into a back-and-forth conversation with his mrrep-ing. 

Fond of high places, like bookshelves and tall dressers. 

It’s unclear how such a heavy cat manages to get up onto them, but he usually ends up yowling for help when he can’t get back down.

Kumadori

(British Longhair)

A huge, massively fluffy mini-lion of a cat, with that “polite little gentleman” face common in his breed. 

Sheds. Sheds SO MUCH. All of your clothes are covered in his fur, no matter how hard you try to keep him thoroughly brushed. 

You cannot escape the fluff. 

YOWLS. The loudest, most determined drama queen when he wants something. Acts like he’s dying if his food bowl is empty for more than half an hour, non-stop howling included. 

Extremely cuddly; wants as much attention from you as you’ll give, and will flop his entire body into your lap to get it. 

Fond of jingly toys! The louder and more annoying the bell, the better. 

If you ever have to give him medicine (be it a pill or liquid), he’s utterly betrayed. Gives you the huge, sad, miserable scared-kitty eyes for the rest of the evening, and won’t let you touch him. 

(He’s over it by morning, and back to purring in your arms. Baby.)

The ugliest purebred imaginable, and his personality isn’t better. <3

Health issues. Skin/coat problems, numerous food sensitivities, arthritis, frequent UTIs, and a crooked tail from a past injury.

King of separation anxiety. If he can’t find you, he’s HOWLING, then finding a corner to cower in until his protector is back.

Truly the embodiment of the phrase “scardey cat”. Terrified of everything from the vacuum to rustling plastic bags. Huddles under the couch, trembling pathetically, after every little scare. 

...it is kind of cute when he runs to you to “save” him, however. 

This clumsy dumbass WILL get himself hurt (in incredibly stupid ways) if you don’t keep an eye on him. Utterly oblivious to real danger.

His distressed yowling is awful, and the attention-demanding yells aren’t much better. The classic So So Whiney Baby Siamese! 

NEEDS to be the only cat in the household— he’s violently territorial, but guaranteed to end up the other cat’s punching bag once he’s pissed them off enough.

Kaku was a workaholic. He enjoyed what he did, so it wasn't often that he took off work for a day. But today was different, because for him today was special.

It was your birthday.

You woke up to a smell that was heaven on earth, and immediately your stomach grumbled. You blushed in embarrassment, even though there was no one in the room to be embarrassed in front of, and quickly got out of bed because you knew that smell could only mean one thing.

Kaku was home.

"Hi, handsome," you greeted with a warm smile as you wrapped your arms around his bare torso. "I see you dressed to impress."

He laughed, clad in only a pair of sweatpants, no shirt, "I know how much you love it when I cook like this, my love. Besides, this was the first surprise of the day for my sweet birthday girl."

"You took off work to stay home with me?" You smiled even more. Kaku was incredibly sweet. You kissed his cheek as he hummed.

"Mhm, but Paulie and Lucci want us to swing by Dock 1 later on so they can wish you," he turned to give you one of his sweet, gentle smiles before pecking your lips.

"That's sweet of them. But you don't plan on staying home all day, do you?" You laughed, guessing he must have planned everything out already.

"Nope," he grinned at you, before turning the stove off. "I have lots of special things planned for my special girlfriend."

You smiled even more as the two of you sat down to eat, blushing as always when you saw that he had made your favourite. You kissed him deeply before he could start eating, showing your appreciation for this gesture and for him because words were failing you.

"I love you," you pulled back and murmured breathlessly.

"I love you too," he didn't hesitate, his eyes bright as they settled on you.

Kaku did indeed have several things planned for you both to do. He knew you liked long, romantic rides on the yagaras around Water 7, so he had found the longest, most scenic route and taken you along it. Then he took you to several shops and purchased anything you so much as looked at, because he wanted to spoil you today. You ended up with an entire new outfit, complete with shoes and accessories.

"You didn't have to buy so much," you giggled as you came out of the last store. "I would have been happy with just the skirt."

"I know," he smiled innocently, "I wanted to get you all of this."

He didn't let you protest, because he swept you away to Dock 1 so that the others could bombard you with wishes and greetings and in Paulie's case, a bone-crushing hug. Kaku had to peel him off you, and you laughed as you said Khalifa's signature phrase, "Sexual harassment," and watched the colour drain from his face.

Then Kaku took you somewhere nice to eat, and the whole time just gazed at you lovingly as you thanked him for such a great day and described how much you love him.

"You're so beautiful," Kaku interrupted your little speech, his eyes twinkling with admiration, awe and love. "You're so beautiful."

Your cheeks burned, "You say that all the time."

"Because it's true."

He took your hands in his and kissed them, not taking his eyes off you, "You're the most beautiful, incredible woman on this planet and I feel very fortunate to be your boyfriend. I just hope one day you'll let me be your husband." He handed you small, handcrafted wooden ship.

Your eyes widened at his words, before settling on the ship, "What's this?"

"Another gift," he smiled, that silly little smile you loved so much.

"Kaku, you already-"

"Stop protesting," he chuckled, "Just open it."

"How?"

"That's for you to find out, my love."

You studied the ship, looking for a hidden compartment. If the cute little ship wasn't the gift, then what was? You found out soon enough, when your thumb brushed against a spot that seemed a bit loose. When you pressed it, a small drawer opened and revealed a beautiful silver ring with intricate carvings of your favourite flower.

"Kaku-" You felt like the air had been knocked out of your lungs.

"It's not a proposal yet," he blushed, "Because I know you're not ready, so it's a promise ring. As soon as you're ready, I'm going to marry you."

You teared up, "It's so beautiful."

It was such a thoughtful thing to give and his words were even sweeter, making your heartbeat speed up. You were at a loss for words, this was the most amazing gift you had ever gotten, and him saying he planned to marry you when you were ready made you fall in love with him all over again.

"Then you're perfectly matched," he slid the promise ring onto your finger, then brought your hand up to his mouth so he could kiss it.

That evening as you lay in bed, you couldn't help but wonder how you'd gotten so lucky. Then Kaku walked in to join you, but he was holding a small cake with a single candle on it, and you laughed.

"Well, isn't that cute?"

He smirked, "Can't have a birthday without cake."

He settled on the bed next to you, smiling gently as you sat up to face him. He held the cake up gingerly between you two, so he could sing to you softly and you could blow them out afterwards, after making a wish. It was the most intimate, romantic moment of your birthday so far, and you smiled at him lovingly.

"Thank you so much for today, love," you spoke between eating the cut cake. "It meant so much to me, you have no idea."

He just smiled and looked up at you with an icing-covered nose, and you giggled as you wiped it off and watched him eat messily, adoring your goofball boyfriend. He was the cutest when he ate, and in that moment you silently thanked God for giving you such a treasure.

if Kizaru hadn't breached the defences that the navy wouldn't stand too good a chance against the Robo beasts, OR, if Kizaru was with them, maybe they would. Also, love Usopp with his sniper specs (or whatever they are).

Also, it seems that Vegapunk is pretty blind to

the weakness in the control hierarchy. As shown earlier with the whole seraphim debacle, it's too easy for one person in the chain to wrest control. Then again, there is or was an assumption that everyone is trusted. Going out of order, but Jay Garcia Saturn Kizaru saying (thanks @darkspock)

that it would be good to keep Vegapunk alive (he is alluding to Vegapunk here, as Kizaru confirms he's set to kill him in the next panel) in the same way Jay Garcia Saturn says that

it was a shame to lose the weaponised beasts, and that losing them, and ultimately Vegapunk, because they are the less valuable or even dangerous assets, show how far removed he is from humanity. BUT, he does want to keep one Vegapunk! (Edit in: And I wonder now if Kizaru is talking about Sentomaru)

Anyway, back to the linear storyline. Before Sentomaru

bites the dust, Usopp, Nami and Brook sight Kizaru, and Brook mentions Sabaody. It's not forgotten, throughout the piece.

AND, I just had a thought, they weren't taken out by Kizaru this round, far from it, but Kid and Law (and all the other supernova, other than Bonney, Luffy and Zoro) were taken out by other forces before they got the chance to flee from (or fight) Kizaru again. It's a good way of showing the high stakes and who is left in the game. (Usopp still has his specs).

So Vegapunk is not aware of Kizaru's determination to let Sentomaru fight from his own morals, and Sentomaru's resolve to protect Vegapunk at all costs. The very small background story (we had some before) is sweet, as always, especially the relationship between "Uncle" Kizaru and Santomaru.

I don't think Lucci is nearly as open or adventurous as the others, but Kaku is. That boy-next-door Golly-gosh-willickers mask he's perfected is hiding layers of whips and chains.

I don't necessarily think Kaku/Lucci's relationship would be strictly "Healthy" either. I mean, I don't think either would say that they're in a bad relationship or that there's any abuse, but I also don't think these two are working with safe words, and I'm sure sometimes fights for dominance can turn into actual fights.

Which Kaku wins a surprising number of. (I don't think you'll get Lucci to admit he enjoys being a bottom OR a sub, but I think he does, and that's why the fights go in Kaku's favor more than you'd expect).

In a three-way relationship, the s/o / reader would be the sub 100% of the time. Lucci and Kaku would team up to nearly ensure it.

I can see them being a lot kinder to a non-CP style S/O and probably just as competitive with a CP-styled S/O. At the end of the day though, i think there would be a legit caring/loving vibe. Even if no one else understood it or could see it.

One Piece - Chapter 1090 "Admiral Kizaru": Thoughts, Theories and Discussions

The cover of this chapter is very interesting! I don't particularly think much of East Blue villains other than Arlong, but Kuro was always an interesting one for me. His plan was the most befuddled mess I've ever seen, and his ending was... ambiguous? He was also one of the first villains with a leaning towards intelligence and his entire appearance screamed sophistication. So it's interesting to be reminded of this guy on the cover, even if his arc was a massive dud!

As for the actual chapter, it starts off very typically, with Luffy telling the Gorosei that he'll be the King of the Pirates. I love that Luffy never changes. He's always the bull in a china shop, who Robin and Nami have to restrain.

It's interesting how Big News Morgan, Wapol and Vivi are listening in on this conversation. I'm pretty sure that'll play a role further on in the story.

I'm also interested in what Rob Lucci's motives are here, along with Kaku. He seems to be going along with the Straw Hats for now, but he IS informing the Gorosei of everything that's happening. I doubt he's going to defect, honestly. Neither will Kaku. Lucci's goals and values simply don't align with anything the Straw Hats stand for. Though he will have to take a decision, since the WG doesn't really seem to care much about sacrificing his life.

Not to mention, this arc gives HEAVY Sabaody vibes. Admiral Kizaru, the Seraphim and the fast paced lore dumping all seem very much like they've taken their inspiration from the style of storytelling in Sabaody Archipelago. Also, i HATE York. Absolutely hate that bitch. Just thought I'd put that out there

I'm pretty hype for Elbaf! I've been eager to see the Island of the Giants, since it's heavily hinted that it's an important place in the world of One Piece. We've been hearing about it since when, Little Garden? I'm also interested in seeing if Usopp gets a major upgrade in Elbaf, because his connection with the Giants has been established and shown a few times throughout the series.

I gotta say, we're getting to know more about Kizaru chapter by chapter. It goes against his ideals to ignore a man who's sincerely doing his duty? I think Kizaru might be a more morally complex man than he lets on with his "high all the time" facade coupled with sarcasm. I'm interested in seeing how Sentomaru and the Pacifistas vs Kizaru unfolds

Also, I really don't feel comfortable with the Hancock Seraphim. Like I know Oda cleared up the accusations, but still. It doesn't seem right and it feels more like it was a coverup for the sake of publicity rather than the actual intention, you know? So I can't help but be uncomfortable with the way people are behaving around S-Snake, as well as the way she behaves with Luffy. Also, could this Bubble that they've trapped the Seraphim in be the answer to DF users in some way? It seems intriguing, at the very least. I do hope all the other Seraphim have their personalities blossom as well. Can't wait for an awakened Doflamingo Seraphim 💀

Last but not least, we get a Coup de Burst after so many years! I missed the Thousand Sunny specialty and I'm glad to see it return. It's so cute to see Franky explain to Vegapunk that the ship is powered by COLA of all things 😭😭

Overall, a very good chapter, and it has some aspects that I can't discuss without making this too lengthy. So i'll do an in depth analysis of Kizaru in some time, but for now, I'm eager to see if the Straw Hats can escape Egghead Island! I love the idea of revisiting the Sabaody themes and story beats, and especially eager to see Kizaru vs Luffy. Do y'all think Kizaru can take the W against G5 Luffy? I wouldn't underestimate a Navy Admiral, but Luffy is a Yonko for a reason, after all. Who do y'all think has the edge? Will Kizaru perhaps defect just like Aokiji?

Chapter 1075 — Labostratum Death Game

This arc has it all! Murder mystery! Whodunnit! Imposter! Split teams!

And not to be like that, but damn if that isn’t an ominous chapter title.

However, "Death game" has a nicer ring to it than "Battle Royale" which would imply all-against-all.

Nice parallel between Shaka and the Shadow's poses.

Vegapunk's satellites really vary in size, don't they?

b) Lovely to see Luffy and Zoro's upset faces! We got the rest of the crew, but I don't think we got them in Wano.

Going back to chapter 1072, we have the command hierarchy:

And combined with Stussy's comment a few chapters ago of her inability to override the earlier commands of Lucci and Kaku, it seems like the first command by one authority level holds presedence (which is a really weird choice. What if things change in the middle of battle and the Pacifistas are still hell-bent on taking down object A while object B is now the priority?).

a) Does the Stella have a higher internal Vegapunk-classification to the satellites?

b) Which part of Vegapunk issued the order to wipe out the people in the labostratum?

c) Is an Elder Star already on the island, as the main authority?

I wonder if all the satellites will be decomissioned (i.e. killed) and it's a part of Vegapunk's plan? Or is it all part of the Five Elder's plan – or do they even know what's happening on Egghead?

It would have been nice with a little longer breather between the intensity of Wano and the suspense of Egghead, but the arc is shaping up nicely!

One Piece Chapter 1070 - Initial Thoughts

And we return, not sure if it's the last chapter of the year but we get to 1070. I know I may've said it last year but considering how we got chapter 1000 on the stroke of 2020 but still, 70 chapters in 2 years is not bad going, we finished Wano and since then it's just been banger after banger

So let's see what the next one has going for it

Caesar with the bowl cut is not it my dude, skinny Queen out here looking like a maniac, dunno what Judge's hair is on but WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE TWIRLY BROWS!? There's a slight curl for sure but it explains little! Dunno who stockings would be, part of me thinks it could be Stussy since she is sussy. Younger Vegapunk kinda looks badass but he's still got the giant head

Sentomaru's still alive! He used his ryou toreduce the damage of Lucci's attack, but he's still in a fight for consciousness

Before Lucci can go for another crack at him though, Luffy smacks him with a Taz spin kick

Seems Luffy's Gear Fifth moves are getting the 'Dawn' naming choice

In true Luffy fashion though, Luffy can't stop spinning and drills through the ground XD

The Seraphim meanwhile are cooking the CP0 redshirts, didn't consider the utility of Sr Pink's fruit with Fishman Karate though that's quite effective

Franky though asks if Sr Pink is dead given the use of his fruit though, it seems he's still in Impel Down

It seems that while only Zoans can be manufactured via SMILE, Vegapunk was only able to replicate Mythical Zoans (worry sensors, Luffy is a mythical zoan so does that mean his power can be replicated?), Logia types are 'difficult' but Paramecia had a way to work around

It seems instead of recreating the fruit, Vegapunk could simply harness the lineage factor of Paramecia users to replicate their abilities, which he calls 'green blood'

So like SMILEs are all Zoan-onlys, Seraphim are Paramecia-onlys basically; S-Snake and S-Bear share the same fruits as their originators - unclear if S-Hawk has a fruit still though. Wonder if this means there are Logia-onlys somewhere

Just an additional since it's causing twitter stir: No I don't think the CP0 agents affected by S-Snake's fruit are lusting after a child, I interpreted it as them finding her cute. Boa's powers work on lust because of her physical appearance, but even she's managed to petrify people by simply acting cutesy around them, the fact that Blackbeard was after the fruit also implies that it's likely not just beauty that can empower the fruit's skillset

Vegapunk also calls the Seraphim the 'Strongest Humans', though if Blackbeard can take one I'd bet Whitebeard could've swatted a few

It is however, not lost on the lab group that these Seraphim are potentially future enemies

Lucci leaving a proper looney shaped hole in the wall XD but there's the evil smile as he tries to go for Sentomaru again

The chomp down misses so Luffy spits the rubble at Lucci, who uses his haki to knock them away

Luffy deadass manifested some goggles before using a tube to Dawn Rocket his way into Lucci's abdomen, and about a foot past where his spinal column should be

Lucci is definitely cooked, but he's also still barely conscious

S-Snake is a tsundere, getting all flustered when Jinbe called her nicer than OG Boa for helping them, this is our first instance of Seraphim having personality though

Sentomaru gets one last exchange with Luffy before directing Luffy to the vacuum rocket

I guess now Luffy's a bit more duty-bound to have Vegapunk on the ship, even if it's only to move him someplace else

Bonney just now regains consciousness after all the shit has gone down

The Vacuum Rocket seems to be a mix of the Futurama travel tubes and the bullet train, since it got them to the labophase in 32 seconds

Egghead's going on lockdown now though

Despite some credit given to him by Kaku, Sentomaru does indeed pass out, which leaves CP0 with the 4 Seraphim on hand

Lucci you can talk all you like of 'if we wait they'll likely escape' but really you just want to keep fighting we see you

So the lab group learn about Vegapunk seemingly joining on the ship for escort, which does beget a lot of reaction

With Atlas in the med bay, Bonney's storming out in a huff again, locked in on wanting to kill Vegapunk again

Meanwhile CP0 intend to keep everyone in Egghead from escaping

Kizaru's still on his way too, back with his sarcastic stoner personality, and a fleet of warships to boot...

So this was another fun chapter for me at least; we got some more Gear Fifth action with Luffy beating up Lucci, but the scales are soon to shift with Kizaru's approach and CP0 using the Seraphim.

Giving S-Snake some dialogue intrigues me though, because if they have personality then they should have wills of their own, they're not mindless like the Pacifista, so what's to stop them from going against orders? Also I wonder how Oda will play this, since Vegapunk outranks CP0, so surely they would need to KO all the Punks before setting the Seraphim on the Straw Hats.

They also still need to get up there in the first place, but we also have to remember that Zoro, Brook and Caribou (who has to come into play still, but all hope for Carrot is gone at this point, which still annoys me) are still on the ground floor too! They need something to do still, plus they're the only ones not clued in on the Vegapunk deal too.

So basically the criticisms still stand; the non-Luffy characters need a direction beyond watching or waiting on the sidelines, I expect we will get there but it is taking its sweet time, maybe Oda's waiting for the Year of Franky or something along those lines. But this is the floor to get some upgrades for other Straw Hats too, while maybe fighting an Admiral and the Seraphim in the process.

It didn't say break next week so I guess we might get some scanlations on the 29th, but the official for 1071 will be in 2023 either way so we'll have to wait and see what follows.
