The long and short of it is that it's about two teenage girls who meet during the height of Beatlemania in the American South, who are dramatically riven apart by the Bigger Than Jesus controversy. Their (toxic, codependent, homoerotic, standard teenage girlbestfriend stuff) relationship flares out dramatically after the Cincinnati '66 concert and they don't see each other again until serendipitously crossing paths in New York on the night of John Lennon's murder.

Like I said in the tag meme, the Beatles aren't actually ~in it~ per se, but their narrative structures and mirrors the narrative of the two main characters. I do maintain that mclennon were basically teenage girlbestfriends, so I decided to follow that to its logical conclusion.

The first draft is done, so I'm just waiting until the new year to start typing it up and can trust myself to approach it with some objectivity and not, like, throw it into the fire in a panic.

“and everytime you’re not around me, i—i start to worry that maybe, someone like him would take you from me. or heaven forbid, the bastard himself.” adam looked away in embarrassment, large wings hovering in an attempt to cover himself.

Scenario: You're one of Connor's best friends- his only friend, in fact. You snuck through his window as you do every Friday, only to find him drunk and sobbing.

A/N: i wrote this in 2nd person but is 1st person preferred? idk, its my first time writing fanfics on tumblr :)

"Con..." You say, gently reaching out to touch his shoulder, to offer some sense of relief, even though you can tell he's far beyond hugging it out at this point.

"No, just-" He cuts himself off with a drunken hiccup as tears roll down his face. "Just leave me alone." He buries his head in his hands, his back shaking with sobs. You wish you could take him in your arms, kiss his pretty face until he stops crying, but you're just friends. Thats all. Thats all you'll ever be.

"Connor, please? Tell me what's wrong?" You coo, your voice soft enough to mirror the voice of a mother speaking to her child. He just shakes his head, flinching slightly as you rub his back gently. "Connor..." You coax, finally getting him to look up at you with his reddened, tear filled eyes.

"You don't love me." He says with a sniffle before bursting into sobs once more.

"I... what? Of course I love you." You say, almost incredulous. And it's true, of course it's true. You love him more than a dog loves his master, crave him more than a flower craves the sun, need him as much as a starving man needs a warm meal. But how can you tell your best friend that when he's drunk and sobbing on his creaky mattress at one in the morning?

"No!" He says, suddenly raising his voice as he stands up abruptly. "No, no, no, you don't love me the way I love you!" The tears roll of his cheeks like raindrops in a thunderstorm. He hiccups dryly, slurring his speech as he continues. "I... I want to kiss you and I want... I want you to be my girlfriend-"

"Connor, you're drunk." You cut him off, almost numb with shock.

"But that doesn't mean my feelings arent real!" He says, shouting now, without any regard for his sleeping sister and parents.

"Con..." Your voice is soft again, kind, the honey-sweet voice he's come to crave every night. "Believe me. If you were sober I would... I would kiss you right now, but you're drunk. I don't want this to be a drunken regret, and I don't want to take advantage of you." You say sternly, but not unkindly. Connor sinks to the bed, smiling goofily now.

"Yeah?" He says, grinning ear-to-ear like a fool. He giggles, then hiccups again, which makes you laugh and then you're both laughing and trying to shush each other at the same time, for fear of awaking Zoe, or worse- Cynthia and Larry.

"Yeah." You whisper, smiling at his dumb grin as you stand, dusting off your jeans. "Text me in the morning if you still feel the same when you're sober, yeah?"

"M'kay. G'night.." He slurs, falling backwards onto his bed.

"Sweet dreams," You whisper as you slide open the window, but as you turn back to check on him one last time, he's already snoring into his tear-stained pillow.

You sat down on the toilet with the pregnancy test still in your hand. Fuck. You coulnd´t believe you were actually pregnant. This wasn´t the right time...you thought to yourself. How was I gonna tell him this? Your boyfriend has had such a stressfull few weeks already. Not only the comeback, but also the move. He had just moved dorms again and now lived with his maknae alone in a dorm. Due to the moving, he had been sleeping at your house a lot. And due to his stress, you gave him some extra quality time during these last few weeks. You wanted to make things a bit easier for him. You cooked all of his meals, you did his laundry and at night you would always give him a bit more attention then he could give you in return. He was exhausted. When it came to intimate stuff, you wanted it to be easier too and then you remembered...you two were unsafe a lot of those times. You tought it wouldn´t matter too much since you keep very close track of your ovulation...guess not. You decided to text Felix. You couldn´t face Chris right now. Not yet.

i didnt want to be this person but i’ve been following your blog for a while and i was hoping it would change but it hasnt. I think its bold of you to say your blog has no AI when your characters are basically rip offs of existing characters or real world people, or characters you took from another user. AI is awul for artists and needs to be separated from art and this blog is basically AI with how many rip off characters you have. You say you don’t write rpf or fanfic but over half your characters are basically rip offs of existing characters or real world people (youre going to tell me that Cassius and Calypso arent ripped off from Gravity Falls, Hemlock isnt stolen from Danny Phantom, Novak is basically a subtle rpf to that one nfl quarterback in florida, the list goes on). If you aren’t going to even try why do you have a blog?

For starters, I didn’t even want to think about this message because you didn’t even have the guts to come off anonymous to tell me you felt that way. The only reason I’m answering this is because its actually insane you think this.

Let’s bust out the crayons for this lesson, shall we? 🖍️ i’ll explain this the way i explained a similar thing to some kids at the daycare i volunteered at in college.

🖍️ "Inspired by" means you see something you like, and you use it to come up with your own ideas. It’s like seeing a cool picture of a duck, and then drawing your own duck but making it look different, maybe with different colors or wings. You use the idea, but make it yours.

🖍️ "Copying" is when you take something someone else made and do the exact same thing without changing it or making it your own. It’s like tracing that duck picture and saying it’s yours, even though someone else made it first.

So, being inspired is using an idea to create something new, and copying is just making the same thing!

Let’s look at the characters you mentioned.

Cassius and Calypso are witches. Twins. This isn’t the first time witches have appeared in media, of course. After all, Harry Potter is incredibly popular. Let’s not forget Sabrina the Teenage Witch! Also! Twins are a real life biological phenomenon! I won’t lie, the relationship Cassius and Calypso has is drawn from Gravity Falls, but if you remember the creator of that show even came out and said they were based on him and his sister. How are they mine, you ask? Well… theyre under contract with their aunt and uncle, they perform regular shows showcasing their abilities, and the biggest thing in their lore is Calypso’s deal. Calypso made a deal with a demon who she knows nothing about and hardly knows anything about what she got into but she doesnt care. As long as her brother is safe. They have their own exclusive personalities too!

Was Hemlock based off Danny Phantom? Hell yeah he was. That show was a banger. Is Hemlock a copycat of Danny Phantom? Believe it or not even though he is half ghost and half human and can shift (as is Juniper!) at his will usually, he is NOT actually Danny Phantom. Hemlock is a transgender man, he is a student, he just got his abilities at twenty one. Did I take inspiration from the show? Sure. But is Hemlock also a classical musician, an occult student, a researcher, and a study driven academic with an ironic background in ghost hunting? Yep. And guess what? He also has a whole personality!!

Let’s look at Novak, because he is one of my favorite characters ever and he’s a lot of people’s favorite character. The quarterback you’re looking for is an amazing man, really. I volunteered with that team on an internship for one of my degrees during one of his seasons and he is one of the most genuine people I’ve met! (I went to a game in January, tickets were a Christmas gift, and he actually remembered me by name and I gave him a friendship bracelet like it was the eras tour and I’m pretty sure he wore it for a while). But is Novak a copycat of him? Let’s look. See, I don’t know him (that player you’re talking about) personally! But I can tell you Novak is a linebacker which is an entirely different position. Novak is also a single father who was SA’ed (because that happens to men too) in college. He was a foster kid who went through eight homes, six of which were abusive. He was a double major in college while being a once in a lifetime player for the college football team. He would do anything for his mom, his daughter, and his loved ones without a second thought. In fact we see more lore in his book but Novak has a hefty (six figures) fund for his daughter to go to college or buy a house or whatever she may need later in life. He regularly donates to his mom’s art gallery to make sure it stays running and local artists are supported to the highest possible level. Also, interestingly, that quarterback youre talking about is very Christian (very nice about it. But very christian) and Novak is actually agnostic! Novak also retired after a few years after he acquired a really bad concussion and started having seizures. As you say, ✨the list goes on✨

As for the AI thing, because what the absolute fuck… I never use AI to write my stories. I have used ChatGPT before, but I have used it as a means to get my thoughts organized in a prompt so I can write. Other that that, all me baby.

do i think fanfiction has value? yeah i do. it takes a lot of time and effort and often skill to do. i have read some frankly gorgeous and wonderful fanfics that have impacted me as a person or ones i still think about to this day.

do i think fanfiction is the same as published literature and should be held to that standard? absolutely fucking not. fanfiction doesn't (usually) exist to make a profit. it is for fun. you are allowed typos and to miss update schedules and to work at your own pace and do whatever you want in it. you can write a grand, epic, multi-book long story. you can write something short and funny and pure crack. you can write just raunchy porn. you can write something stupid and fluffy and self gratifying. you can take requests, or write purely for yourself. you can write the same story but from another persons point of view.

fanfiction is casual writing. it isn't that serious. something not being serious though doesn't mean it doesn't take time or doesn't fucking mean anything. if someone writes hundreds of thousands of words of fanfiction that is nothing to snuff at and it's unfair to say "you arent a REAL writer because you write fanfiction!!" because thats like saying "you arent a REAL artist because you draw fanart!!" it takes time and effort and skill to do. you learn by writing.

i don't think it's polite to out of pocket criticize a fanfic because it isn't a published work. you didn't pay for this. it didn't go through a long editing and publication process. there were no agents or even self publishing and marketing involved. this is like your friend casually mentioning they write for fun and don't wanna publish and you taking their manuscript and ripping into it like you would something on the new york time's best seller's list. theyre gonna feel like shit. they didn't ask for that. like sure, you can do it, but like. 1. who are you. what are your qualifications. how do they know you arent getting shit advice. and 2. i am literally playing make believe with my barbie dolls if you wanna be mad at my game of playing pretend with me and my friends i dont wanna play with you
