it makes them question whether they were hurt at all, or hurt badly enough to deserve sympathy, or maybe theyre just a horrible bad person. their trauma response looks so different, its the complete opposite in fact. they couldnt even get traumatised the right way.

I kind of hate all the comparisons between kipperlily and like. Those fuckass "affirmative action fucks me over I wish I was [minority] so it would be easier" people because none of that. Is what she said. She said the bad kids already had more experience with adventuring before they got to augefort and it meant they had an advantage. Which is true. Yeah Riz was lower-class but his mum was a COP. Riz, Kristen and Fig had parents who were heroes (Sandra-Lynn is an active ranger, Kristen's parents are paladins, Sklonda is a rogue), Adaine's family was super rich and politically influential, Fabian had both. Gorgug's the only one who wasn't actively at an advantage [IN THE CONTEXT OF HAVING PRIOR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HEROISM] and she didn't have shit to say about him. Kipperlily was the first person in her family to try heroism, the bad kids are largely legacy admissions.

Additionally to the people comparing it to the "anti-affirmative action" crowd: do you know what affirmative action is. The bad kids didn't receive special consideration on their admissions to aguefort or scholarships or additional financial support or extended assessment times or anything. How could she be mad about affirmative action if none of these people received affirmative action. What they DID have was knowledge about their classes that started much earlier than high school, which is what Kipperlily said in her file that she thought grading should be adjusted for because she did not have that.

To me it's less like affirmative action and more like augefort is like an IQ test. They pretend that it's fair and objective, but you can be taught how to do those things from a younger age, and if your parents took the time to teach you pattern recognition and shit then you'll do better on an IQ test than someone who wasn't trained for it and everyone will act like that makes you innately smarter when it doesn't. It just means someone taught you how to do that earlier.

Barring Gorgug, every one of the bad kids had access to information about heroism and their class at a younger age than Kipperlily did, which primed them for success in their classes. Every one of them got additional information about mysteries from their families (and even direct battle-tactics training from Bill), Riz especially with getting classified info out of his mum. Kipperlily does not have hero relatives. She's the first in her family line to attend a hero school. She knew nothing about it before her first day, meanwhile Kristen was already the chosen of Helio, Adaine had already been attending the best wizard school in the country, Fabian had already spent his whole life training with his father, and Riz was already involved in solving mysteries using info and tactics he got from his parents.

They aren't necessarily "privileged" (except Fabian and Adaine), but Kipperlily didn't say they were, she said that in the specific context of attending a hero school they had a prior-knowledge advantage. Saying they didn't is like comparing the grades of a kid who's academic career started with preschool with a kid who didn't attend until middle school and acting like one of them wasn't better prepared.

Okay, but like. The spy. The mole. For me immediately only one person comes to mind. Here is the way I think.

It is absolutely not Marshall John. He was clearly not in the spy division granted he had a crew and literally lazed around in Cannella long enough to abuse authority there. And after that there is absolutely NO WAY Navy's plan was to fucking execute him in the BLOCK and have Riptide Pirates go for him, on a downright suicidal mission so he joins ANOTHER crew. They could not predict nor plan for this. John is absolutely clean in my book.

Caspian. Ooof, it would be so tragic, cause he's always been there for Lizzie. They knew each other for YEARS, literal years, they were raised together. And that's exactly why he's not the mole. After leaving his tribe, which we know must be true since he mentioned his sister leaving to the capital and I'm pretty sure she is one of the Elders now, he went above water and spent most of his late childhood/teenage years with Lizzie on the Shadowbeard's ship. In no point in time were they split, and so Caspian would have absolutely no way to be trained as an undercover solider. Caspian is not a mole.

But who then, you may wonder? These are the main two closest to Lizzie, right? We don't know anyone else, right? Wrong. There is a new addition to her crew, quite recent actually and it's no one other than Rudith. The fucking healer from Joaldo island, one who had connections with Grandberry Pirates, letting them hang out under his fucking pharmacy. Rudith from Joaldo island which weirdly got attacked the same time a large amount of pirates were gathered there for a tournament. Rudith, who kept saying that life at sea is not really a life for him, and yet when they dropped the fucking sick at Edison Kingdom he surprisingly CHOSE to stay with Lizzie instead and had an absolute honour to listen to them all talking abt thier goddamn plans when they were in a tavern in Allport.

Quiet little, forgettable Rudith. A healer of the crew who just happened to be here. One that interacted with Riptide Pirates so little they don't even remeber he was there.

It's honestly really interesting to see everyone's reaction to him is!

Sun is hesitant, and obviously keeps him at arms length. He's testing the waters with little jabs.

Moon, on the other hand, is trying his best to be casual and welcoming, but he's painfully aware of the barrier between them!

Earth is awkward and unsure! She only ever heared about him from Nexus, the other two avoiding the topic. Nexus, on the other hand, had a habit of antagonising him!

Meanwhile, Moon is simply not used to having a sister! And he's alone in this. Lunar and Sun have known her for about a year now. Moon is the outcast, the person on the outside.

Lunar is an interesting case!! They have always been rather avoidant, and at times even dissmisive of Nexus, though they obviously care about him!

I always thought, that they may hold a bit of a grudge, or are unsure how to react to him, because that's not their big brother, not in the same way. That's not the same Moon, who accepted them with open arms, when things were rough with Eclipse. It's not the same Moon, who shared his mindscape with them.

And now it is.

They do seem very casual though, and we definitely need more time to see them interact together! One thing that is interesting, is their tone of voice. It feels a little more similar than how it used to be! Though I'm not sure, if it's an intentional thing, or if it's simply hard for EC to swap his voice between the two of them so fast!

Moon, in a similar light, seems pretty casual, if a little hesitant. He's very protective still!

Eclipse… OH GOD, ECLIPSE- THEIR BACK AND FORTH WAS SO INTERESTING-

There's so much he's not used to—Earth, Lunar's new body and powers, the house, etc etc—but the contrast with the familiar—Sun, Eclipse, the daycare, etc etc—that it creates this super interesting scenario where he's sort of stumbling around, figuring out how comfortable he can be in most scenarios, yk?

There was a day off so more people came in the building to enjoy their time, u know, normal behavior. It’s a bunch of small studio apartments with tile floors, windows are opened because it’s hot, you can hear people walking and talking, normal again. My boyfriend doesn't like this, so the past few days he’s been having the longest toddler tantrum about it. Walking hard on his heels, blasting tv he doesn't watch at 2am, vacuuming loudly and throwing the vacuum around for extra noise, slamming the chairs randomly, yelling random rap lyrics etc
