High Maintenance 101
Prissy Girl Beauty Regimens 🎀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my prissy girl guide to beauty services and building a beauty lifestyle that fits you 💗
Skincare:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Essential Skincare Routine ❤︎︎
twice daily, in the morning and at night
daytime: gentle cleanser, toner, serum, eye cream, moisturizer, SPF
prep and protect skin
nighttime: double cleansing with oil and cleanser, exfoliation, treatments, moisturizer
wash away the day and help skin accept treatments and actives during your beauty sleep
products will change depending on skin type and goals, but sequence will more or less stay the same
Face Masks + Treatments ❤︎︎
Face Masks -
typically done at home 1-3x/week
clay, gel, mud, cream, liquid
my fav masks at home:
aha + bha liquid mask by the ordinary: a literal overhaul of my pores. it’s refining and helps reduce texture and hyperpigmentation. 1-2 x/week
korean modeling mask: i use this after doing everything in my routine. it’s super cooling and smooths my skin out. the low temp of the mask reduces flushing of my skin and helps the steps in my routine absorb better. 2-3 x/week
Treatments -
done either 1-3x/week and/or exclusively at night
consumer grade Retinols, AHAs, BHAs at high strength
little extra things i like to use to enhance my routine:
gua sha, ice pack, rose quartz roller, however often i choose
Facials ❤︎︎
done every 1-2 months by licensed estheticians
often includes exfoliation and extraction
Classic Facial: cleanse, extract, massage, moisturize
HydraFacials: extracts pores while infusing serums to boost skin’s vitamin and nutrient content
dry, dehydrated skin
Microdermabrasion: microabrasive tool removes outermost, textured, damaged layer of skin using suction to reveal a smooth and refined new layer of skin
sun damaged, aged, textured skin or skin with hyperpigmentation
Chemical Peel: application of medical grade AHA, BHA, Lactic Acid, Fruit Enzymes, or Retinol to peel away top layers of skin over the course of 1-2 weeks
pore refining, brightening, and anti-aging
after care is crucial. skin will be peeling and sensitivity to sun is increased. SPF MUST be used. it’s heavily advised that clients stay home for the first few days.
HydroJelly Facial: facial made of electrolytes, algae, organic white grain oat flour, rice flour, and white willow bark powder. leaving your skin hydrated, plump, and nourished. forms a vacuum-like seal that compresses facial contours.
there are 25 different hydrojelly pro masks for most skin concerns you may have, check here
More Facials ❤︎︎
Contouring Facial: sculpting, tightening, and lifting of facial muscles
LED Facial: uses LED light to soothe inflammation, aiding in acne healing and prevention
Vampire Facial: plumps skin and improves wrinkles by extracting blood, removing its platelets, then either re-injecting it into the skin or applying it topically
Diamond File Facial: finely ground diamonds resurface skin by filing to improve dark spots
Glass Skin Botox: multiple tiny botox injections just below the surface of the skin. alleviate fine lines, redness, texture, and more achieving glass skin
AquaGold Facial: microinjections that combine vampire facial methods, hyaluronic acid, botox, stem cells, antioxidants, vitamins, peptides, etc. improves fine lines, wrinkles, pores, pigmentation, acne scarring, dryness, tone, texture, skin elasticity, and more

Hair Care ❤︎︎
Wash Routines:
curly textured: wash and condition every 2-3 weeks, deep condition every 1-2 weeks
straight: wash and condition every 2-3 days, deep condition every 2-3 weeks
Styling ︎❤︎︎
Hair should have a style everyday! At home hairstyling is limitless and really depends on your taste and lifestyle. The everyday woman does her own her once every 1-4 weeks using natural hair products, heat, or other tools.
Professional Stylists:
hair is styled every 1-3 months: uses heat to straighten or curl, extensions to lengthen and add volume, shears to maintain/attain a shape and length
trim ends: every 6-8 weeks
hair color: touched up roughly every 6-8 weeks (depending on how fast your hair is growing and how fast your color will fade)
Silk Press:
after a clarifying wash and deep conditioning, natural hair is straightened using flat iron and/or pressing comb, then usually curled in feathers or pin curls to preserve the style
lasts 3-4 weeks depending on maintenance
preserved by wrapping hair at night, keep hands out of hair, and using a wide toothed comb only
can be further styled with different kind of rollers, or with pin curls
Braids:
afrocentric hairstyles typically done to protect hair while maintaining beauty
lasts 3-8 weeks
styles include knotless braids, faux locs, stitch braids, french braids, etc
Extensions:
hair added to natural hair to enhance length or volume
can be done at home with patience and proper materials
sew-in extensions: (my personal fav) 1-2 months
your natural hair gets braided down flush to your scalp and the bundles are sewn on by the wefts in a flat pattern typically with a section of hair left out to cover the wefts $100-600
microlinks: up to 4 months
i-tip extension is added to hair using micropliers, clippers and loop tool. takes far longer than most extension methods but looks the absolute most natural $500-1000
tape-in extensions: up to a year, touch ups every 4-6 weeks
medical grade tape is used to attach extensions to small sections of hair $200-400
clip-in extensions: 3-6 months
extensions are clipped on by the wefts. the hair itself can last up to six months, but it’s not recommended to sleep, shower, or swim with the extensions in $50-100
Natural Styles:
all last roughly 1-2 weeks at most. allowing hair to completely DRY is crucial for these styles. your natural hair can be further changed in styles like buns, puffs, etc once dry
natural hair essentials: scalp oil, leave in conditioner, detangling brush, wide tooth comb, curling cream, styling gel, edge control and edge brush
wash n’ go
wash and detangle, then use leave in conditioner to keep hair moist. oil on the scalp and ends is recommended for growth and healthy ends
bantu knots
a traditionally african style where the hair is cleanly sectioned (usually parted in a cute pattern) and twisted into knots. style can be worn just like this or taken down for curls
braid/twist out
a specific pattern of curls is achieved after hair is twisted or braided with curl preserving products. end result depends on how big your twists or braids are
roller set
hair is sprayed with water and curl cream applied before roller of your choice is added. hair is left to dry usually overnight for springy well formed curls
Brows and Lashes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brow Shaping ❤︎︎
in salon or at home
Waxing - every 3 weeks
Threading- every 2-3 weeks
Razor Shaping - weekly
Brow Enhancement ❤︎︎
Tinting - monthly
can be done at home or by pro in the salon
Microblading - every 1-3 years + annual touch ups, exclusively professional work
cosmetic tattooing using a manual tool with nearly invisible hair-like needles to inject pigment in brows to create your desired brow look
Lash Enhancements ❤︎︎
*done exclusively by professionals
Lifts - every 6 weeks
basically a perm for your lashes to curl them semi-permanently for lashes to appear longer
Lash Extensions - new set every 6-8 weeks, fill ins every 2-3 weeks depending on quality and style
false individual strands of lashes glued to natural lashes to create semi-permanent length and/or volume
lash baths: wet lashes and apply a small amount of gentle cleanser or a “lash bath” to lashes. cleanse lashes and eyelids for about 10 seconds. hold a towel under your eye and use a nozzle bottle to flush soap and bacteria from lashes then dry with a disposable lint free towel. finish by brushing your lashes with a spoolie. daily.
Lash Styles:
Classic: one lash on each fan, thin lashes
Volume: fluffier lashes with more lashes on each fan
Hybrid: uses classic and volume lashes to make an alternated look
Russian: volume lashes made with very thin individuals, 5-6 extensions per natural lash, fanned out look
DIY Lash Extensions - lasts about a week (sometimes longer)
lash fragments or individual wisps are glued either under the lashes or on the lash line. KISS Falscara is a product that makes this concept simple and easy
Nails:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
all these services can be done at home with the proper materials and KNOWLEDGE
Classic Manicure ❤︎︎
every 1-2 weeks
nail service that consists of soaking hands in warm soapy water then drying them. nails are trimmed, filed, and buffed. cuticles are pushed back before applying nail polish (base coat, color, top coat), then finally cuticle oil is applied.
nails can be enhanced with rhinestones, glitter, or charms and attached with uv gel or nail glue
my fav styles are pink, cream, white, black and any french tip using those colors
Pedicure ❤︎︎
every 2-4 weeks
sister to the classic manicure, but can be upgraded depending on materials. steps are similar to manicure, except feet are scrubbed and exfoliated before feet are washed and dried to apply nail color
regular polish, acrylic, or gel can be used on toenails
Gel or Shellac Mani ❤︎︎
every 2-3 weeks
same process as the classic manicure, but traditional nail polish is replaced with uv base coat, gel or CND Shellac polish, then uv top coat that’s cured in a UV or LED lamp
longer lasting and more strong/3d than classic mani and is typically removed by soaking in acetone
Apres Gel-X Nails ❤︎︎
every 2-3 weeks
my personal fav at home nails using the artme yoko matsuda nails. after doing a classic mani sans polish, you apply a dehydrator and primer to prep nail for gel. then you apply builder gel to your natural nail and cure. then you apply that same builder to the nail extension after etching it using an electric drill or acetone. marry the gel to your nail and cure. then just shape to your liking and top with uv top coat. tutorial here
Acrylic Nails ❤︎︎
every 2-3 weeks, nails are fully grown out after 6 weeks
manicure done with liquid monomer and acrylic powder to build and extend natural nail, then polished with color or just a top coat if desired
Russian Mani ❤︎︎
every 4-5 weeks
essentially a gel manicure, but more invasive. the eponychium is snipped away so polish can be applied more closely and flush to the cuticle. this aids in visuals and longevity
service is seen as risky because the skin is more susceptible to fungal or bacterial infection. this is actually how i do my nails at home.
Body:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bathing ❤︎︎
2x daily
self explanatory, we all know how to bathe. i have other posts that talk about my shower and bath routines.
use a gentle cleanser then a scented body wash to complement perfume and smell fresh all day.
if needed, you can use body soaps with actives like aha, bha or retinol to exfoliate or treat skin at night
exfoliation - 2-3x/week. using scrubs, loofahs, bath brushes, etc.
Hair Removal ❤︎︎
shaving - 2-3x/week
waxing - every 3-5 weeks
sugaring - monthly
ipl device - a device that uses light therapy to slowly destroy hair follicles and unwanted pigment in skin. i use mine after every 5-6 shaves but i could really use it more often.
Vajacial ❤︎︎
1-2x/month
a “facial” for your lady area
the esthetician will first wax, then cleanse and apply an enzyme exfoliant. then they extract any blackheads or ingrown hairs from the area before applying a soothing mask usually in the jelly form.
Moisture and Hydration ❤︎︎
body cream or lotion - daily right after bathing to hydrate skin
body oil - daily to seal in moisture and protect skin from debris and dryness
masks - weekly to address particular skin concerns
ex. when i was having eczema flare ups on my back, i used a dead sea mud mask every 1-2 weeks to help treat it
done at home or at spa
glycolic, clay, mud, salicylic, etc.
Enhancement Procedures:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the goal is to look younger and balance facial features. all these services are exclusively done by professionals usually in a medspa and are widely considered luxury.
Botox ❤︎︎
every 6-8 months; between brows, smile lines, outer corners of eyes, etc
discourages muscle movement to reduce wrinkles
Lifts ❤︎︎
lasts about 10 years; face, neck, brow, eyelids
skin is lifted to desired look, then excess skin is removed
Fillers ︎❤︎︎
every 6-12 months; under-eye, lips, jawline, wrinkle sites, cheekbones
injects acids (usually naturally occurring) like Hyaluronic Acid and Calcium Hydroxylapatite to add volume to your face
Body Contouring ❤︎︎
every 2-4 months until desired results are achieved
non invasive liposuction to achieve desired physique
CoolSculpting - cryolipolysis freezes fat cells for the body to the metabolize and and remove them
SculpSure - essentially the same as CoolSculpting, but uses heat and laser technology to destroy fat cells
Laser Hair Removal ❤︎︎
every 5-6 weeks; bikini, underarms, legs, arms
touch ups done every 1-2 years
hair growth is inhibited by exposing follicles to light at frequencies that kill them
Building the Regimen 🗒️💕:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
when making appointments with your “glam squad” you can stagger your services by week depending on what’s being done. for example you can get your mani and pedi done one week. then your facials, brows and lashes another week.
Things to Keep in Mind 💭💞:
these frequencies won’t be the same for everyone depending on personal wants, budgets, etc. but will most likely land somewhere in the ranges i gave. if you need touch ups or redos any sooner than i mapped out, then the service most likely was of poor quality.
anything done at home may or may not be up to the level of detail and longevity as salon or spa work. if you see yourself doing the majority of your beauty maintenance at home, this can save money but may end up taking more time than professional services. so it’s a give and take.

I've had a really rough end of July so if possible could you share some happy things about snakes?
Sorry you're having a rough time. I'm a similar spot but hey, we got this! And one thing you can always count on, no matter how tough things get? Awesome snake facts. 😎
Some of my favorite feel-good snake facts:
Did you know snakes can have friends? Garter snakes are very social by snake standards, and they have complex social relationships! They form friendships and consistently choose to hang out with their buddies!
Tumblr media
Boomslangs are gorgeous, highly venomous colubrids. They're beautiful, charismatic snakes!
Tumblr media
And when they're babies, they look like bobbleheads. Definitely some of the cutest babies in the snake world!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you know that snakes save millions of lives every year? Snake venom collected at venom labs is used in the production of life-saving medications, especially cardiac and anti-convulsive drugs!
Saw-scaled vipers. Highly venomous, very grumpy...and absolutely adorable!
Tumblr media
Broad-headed snakes are currently some of the most endangered snakes in Australia, suffering from the effects of habitat loss. However, we're hearing lots of good news about them lately - zoo breeding programs are helping to increase genetic diversity in the captive population with hopes to release snakes into the wild, and plans to restore their lost habitats in the Sydney Basin are underway.
Tumblr media
This isn't necessarily a fact but I really love this picture of an egg-eating snake who is so happy to have found a yummy egg.
Tumblr media
Snakes can have heterochromia! It's most often seen in leucistic snakes, and they have one blue eye and one black eye. Almost every single one I've heard of (and the only one I've ever seen in person) have been leucistic Colombian rainbow boas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Black-tailed rattlesnakes are so beautiful, they always make me happy! They come in an incredible range of colors, from dark browns to dusky greys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of beautiful rattlers, speckled rattlesnakes can look like cookie dough ice cream!
Tumblr media
Hope things look up for you soon! Take care.

i love your prom photos so sad you took them down
was wondering if you could give us your skincare routine and if you could tell us what products have and haven't worked for you?
and your skincare prep for b4 makeup?
a/n: hello! of course i'm willing to do that — I'll link everything as well. it'll be separated into a few different sections: products i use (separated into different sections, and w/ a 'review'), products i tried but didn't like, morning + night routine, make-up skin prep routine. all products from LIKESKIN (check out their website)
SKIN TYPE: dry, acne-prone (I'm prone to pustular acne, cystic acne, and hormonal acne) & MY SKIN CONCERNS: hydration, acne, blemishes, scarring, and hyperpigmentation
THINGS I ALWAYS DO:
Retinol 2-3x a week Vitamin C 2x a week Mask 3x a week Exfoliating toner 2-3x a week
PRODUCTS I USE:
cleansers -
[IUNIK] Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil ;; gets make-up and sunscreen off, gentle and sensitive skin friendly, doesn't break me out.
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser - doesn't dry me out, gentle, foams up well, and cleanses my skin properly!
toners -
[ANUA] Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner - hydrating and soothing, helps take down my redness and blemishes
[NEEDLY] Daily Toner Pad - helps with texture and acne
[NUMBUZIN] No.5 Vitamin-Niacinamide - helps with acne scars and any darkness i have, i tend to put these on my cheek area and leave them for awhile
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON ] Green Plum Refreshing Toner: AHA + BHA - this is a light exfoliating toner that overall helps keep my rejuvenated
[DEAR KLAIRS] Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner - extremely hydrating, i use this every day and night so matter what, somewhat viscous
[SOMEBYMI] 30 Day Miracle Toner: AHA + BHA + PHA - exfoliating toner, don't use this if you have sensitive skin, but this helped me get rid of my pustules (acne filled with yellow pus)
serums -
[AXIS-Y] Dark Spot Glow Correcting Serum - mixed feelings on this serum since it helps a lot with my dark spots BUT it works on new scarring + if I use it too often, it triggers my acne.
[SKIN1004] Madagascar Centalla Asiatica Ampoule - incredibly soothing and hydrating, helps keep my acne under control
[The Ordinary] 10% Niacinamide Serum - started using this recently and i love it so much, helps the skin shine, removes texture, reduces acne and pore appearance
[The Ordinary] 0.5 Retinol - helps me extremely with acne; i worked up from 0.1% to 0.2% and now at 0.5%
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Retinal Eye Serum - i just love this one so much, very plumping
moisturisers -
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Dynasty Cream - i love this so, so much; hydrating, lightweight, and doesn't trigger my acne
[IUNIK] Centella Calming Gel - like the axis-y glow correcting serum, over-using this causes me some acne so i tend to use this once or twice a week, and it works wonders!
[COSRX] Centella Blemish Cream - HOLY GRAIL PRODUCT! this is genuinely one of the things that helped me clear my acne to extraordinary levels, especially when i had a huge breakout EVERYWHERE! i also use this as a spot treatment, repurchased this like seven times now
[DEAR, KLAIRS] Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask - using this with vitamin c works wonders and it overall enhances any dark spot removing products! very lightweight, jelly-like texture!
[I'm From] Vitamin Tree Water Gel - i adore this one so much; such a cooling, soothing moisturiser, and it targets almost every skincare concern ever, totally underrated!
sunscreen -
[AXIS-Y] Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen - only sunscreen that didn't make me break out and doesn't have white cast!
masks -
[I'm From] Mugwort Mask - i love this because everytime i have a breakout, it just helps me so much with redness.
[I'm From] Honey Mask - a miracle mask for an acne-prone person! one of my all-time favourite products! gives the skin a gorgeous shine as well! when i run out of this, i also just use manukka honey and oats!
/ so most of the products i use are anti-inflammatory, soothing, and target blemishes/texture/scarring; most people tend to forget that you should try and avoid anti-inflammatory products if you're not acne-prone because it may just end up triggering a breakout! all our skin is different! so here's PRODUCTS THAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME:
(disclaimer: some of these products were good but i wouldn't repurchase!)
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Relief Sunscreen: Rice + Probiotics - sunscreen - triggered my pustular acne but was incredibly lightweight, super sad it didn't work out for me :(
[HARUHARU WONDER] Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner For Sensitive Skin - toner - i just didn't like this, it didn't do anything for me and caused my skin to itch.
[AXIS-Y] Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack - mask - i used all of this up and came to the conclusion it just didn't do much for me and was also incredibly difficult to wash off.
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Glow Serum: Propolis + Niacinamide - serum - now, i genuinely loved this but it only gave me a glow and was very small, ran out too quickly! much better products that do the same job with more product and more cheap!
[BEAUTY OF JOSEON] Glow Deep Serum: Rice + Arbutin - serum - this triggered my pustular acne so bad that i threw it away almost immediately, nuh-uh!
[MIXSOON] Bean Essence - serum - this isn't bad per se, but i feel like it's a very overhyped product and doesn't do much other than boost hydration, i use it but i wouldn't buy it again
[NUMBUZIN] NO.3 Skin Softening Serum - serum - i have such mixed opinions on this one because it really does help with texture but not if you keep using it? so i'm not sure if i'd repurchase.
[NUMBUZIN] NO.5 Goodbye Blemish Serum - serum - feels heavy, doesn't do shit other than trigger my acne and make my skin itch
[SOMEBYMI] 0.1% Retinol - serum - definitely a great beginner-friendly retinol but far too light for me and my acne-infested skin :(
MORNING ROUTINE:
cleanser (green plum refreshing cleanser from Beauty of Joseon
toner (i'll switch between the ANUA Heartleaf one and the Dr, Klairs Supple one)
serum (i'll tend to use a soothing serum such as the SKIN1004 centella asiatica one or a vitamin C serum)
moisturiser (dynasty cream or vitamin-tree water gel)
sunscreen
NIGHT ROUTINE:
double cleanse (IUNIK cleansing oil + BoJ green plum refreshing cleanser)
mask (either honey or mugwort mask, leave for twenty minutes)
toner pad (leave on for five minutes minimum)
toner (usually an exfoliating toner at night-time or a hydrating toner)
serum (tend to opt for niacinamide + retinol at night)
moisturiser (usually the vitamin e mask OR dynasty cream)
spot treatment (COSRX Blemish Cream)
MAKE-UP SKIN PREP ROUTINE:
(this is what i did on the day of prom as well!)
toner pad (leave these on for ten minutes and rub around face, this helps hydrate the skin; i use the numbuzin ones)
niacinamide (helps tighten pore appearance and just helps in every single way)
soothing serum (centella asiatica to overall help the skin!)
moisturiser!
/ i hope this helps!

Chapter 2 of my Animal HRT story
View the full Google doc here.
Chapter 2
The morning light filtered into my bedroom through the pride flags draped over my windows, giving the sunshine a tint of rainbow colors barely noticeable to the naked eye. I lay face-down on the bottom mattress of my bunk bed, one hand gripping the sheets, the other still resting on the snooze button of my alarm clock. Man, what a crazy dream. I thought as I sighed, before rolling out of bed.
I stood up and stretched before grabbing my phone off of my desk. I skimmed through my notifications, stepping over the dirty clothes and assorted junk scattered around my bedroom floor as I walked out my door, across the hall, and into the bathroom to take my morning pills. I looked at myself in the mirror when I got there. My blueish-grey eyes, pale skin, and dirty blonde hair looked the same as they always had. My hair had gotten to about shoulder-blade length in the two years I’d let it grow out, helping me fit more into the feminine look I’ve longed for.
I rubbed my hand over my chin, feeling the little hairs beginning to poke out from my pores. Ugh, gotta shave again. I thought as I reached for my razor. I arched my neck back to stretch the skin before I started shaving. The dark little hairs falling away as I drag the blade against the grain of my stubble.
As I got into the repetitive motions of shaving, I began to think back on the dream I’d just awoken from. It seemed so real I thought as I pulled the razor up over my jaw. I could almost hear the clanging of the weapons, and feel the rush of air through my fur. I could imagine that the razor in my hand was the tip of my opponent’s sword, barely grazing and trimming my whiskers as I dodged. Or perhaps, it was my own sword, swinging at the foe ahead of me, each thrust with the steel blade bringing me closer towards them, dragging my paws through the dirt below me as I readied the deadly weapon to draw my opponent’s blood- “OW!”
With a sting of pain, I dropped the razor into the sink below me. A trickle of blood began to drip from the small cut on my cheek. Great. I thought as I reached for the box of tissues on the cluttered marble countertop. I tore the corner off one and stuck it on the small cut. I took a few more seconds to run my hand over my now smooth face, making sure I hadn’t missed a spot before I had cut myself. I then stepped back to look over my body in the mirror.
My belly was still noticeably chubby, much more so than I would have liked, but the small feminine bumps on my chest were finally starting to make themselves known, so at least a little bit of the chub’s been redistributed. I could also see a bit of pinching inwards around my waist, which boosted my spirits quite a bit! I’d known I was a woman for a while now, but I was finally beginning to look like one too. Hah, take THAT dysphoria! I thought with a smirk. The smirk quickly faded when I spied the little piece of tissue on my cheek, a bit of blood starting to soak through it. I really need to get more shaving cream. I thought with a sigh.
Shaking my head slightly, I picked up my pill case and dumped today’s contents into the palm of my hand. Two anti-anxieties, one anti-boy-otic, I thought as I tossed the pills into my mouth, washing them down with a swig of water. And finally, one tit-tac. I chuckled as I looked down at the little blue pill between my fingers, before gingerly placing it under my tongue. With a final look in the mirror, I opened the door and started back towards my room to get dressed for class.
I threw on a pair of black leggings, a cute pink skirt, a pair of trans flag thigh highs, a teal V-neck tee shirt, and a long-sleeved pink flannel shirt overtop. I then buckled my pink fanny pack around my waist, put on a sparkling Citrine necklace, stuck my “Please use She/Her Pronouns” pin on my shirt, and put on my pink and blue glasses. I slid my phone and my wallet into the fanny pack, and with a flick of my hand to get the hair out of my face, I headed out of my room and down the stairs.
“Morning,” I said to my mom as I walked into the kitchen. She was sitting at the table, drinking her morning coffee, and tapping away at her phone, no doubt playing that dumb cooking game of hers, as per usual. “Well, someone’s up early.” Mom said, not even lifting her eyes from her phone. “Early enough to have some breakfast before running out the door?”
“Actually, I woke up on time today,” I said, opening the fridge. “That old digital alarm clock you found in the basement managed to do the trick. And yes, I will be having some breakfast.” I grabbed a pre-packaged breakfast sandwich from the fridge, removed the wrapper, and tossed it in the microwave for a couple of minutes.
“Have some fruit too,” my mom said, still playing her game. “We got some grapes a few days ago, and nobody’s eaten them yet. I don’t want them going bad.” “Sure thing,” I said, opening the fridge back up and grabbing some grapes out of the fruit drawer. “Y’know,” I said, popping a grape into my mouth, “That alarm clock interrupted a really interesting dream of mine.”
“Oh, yeah?” My mom asked, still playing her game.
“Yeah, I’d dreamt that I was my character, Krystal,” I said, leaning back on the fridge. “Y’know, from that story I’m writing?”
“Uh-huh,” she said, nodding her head, not looking up from her phone.
“It seemed so real. As though I could feel the sun on my fur, the breeze on my tail, the dirt under my paws.”
“Mhm,” Mom said, still tapping away at her phone’s screen.
“Yeah…” I tossed another grape into my mouth and chewed it thoughtfully. “I was fighting in some sort of medieval tournament,” I said with the chewed-up grape muffling my speech. I swallowed before continuing. “I was fighting this wolf guy. He was using a sword, and I was using a mace, and I won! The king was gonna have a feast in my honor at the castle, but then-”
“OH, GOD DAMMIT!!” my mom shouted, making me jump.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, concerned.
“Nothing, nothing,” she replied. “I just messed up this guy’s order and failed the level. What were you talking about, Andrew?”
A pang of hurt stabbed through my chest at the sound of that name. A name that was no longer my own. A name that I never wanted to hear again. “N-Nothing, mom,” I said, looking down at the floor. “Absolutely nothing…”
Beep!                   Beep!                   Beep!                   Beep!
I opened the microwave and pulled out my breakfast sandwich, walked over to the living room where I sat down on our blue faux leather couch, and turned the TV onto the news channel, intending to check the weather as I ate. I guess I’ll watch and see what’s going on in the world today too. I thought as I took a bite from my sandwich. Let’s see… War in a foreign country, the threat of nuclear war, presidential debate between horrible person A and horrible person B, Natural Disaster, Man-made Disaster, yada, yada, yada…
When it became obvious that the weather wasn’t going to be on for a while, I pulled out my phone and checked social media as I ate. I looked at memes and art and scrolled past the usual hate and drama and some weirdo conspiracies about scientists putting chemicals in vaccines to turn people into monsters. The usual internet nonsense, until something on the TV caught my attention.
“Last night, the remains of one Paula Jankens were found in the Pymatuning Reservoir, just off the shore from Jamestown, PA. Paula, who had been missing for two days before her recovery, was a 16-year-old transgender girl who called Jamestown her home. Authorities say there is no doubt in their minds that this was a murder, and that they are currently suspecting a hate crime as a motive. Reports say that Paula was found to have been dismembered, and her remains were scattered in the lake in an attempt to hide the evidence. Her parents-”
I turned off the TV, shaking. Another trans girl, murdered, and so close to my home… I thought, the fear rising in my chest. That… that could have been me. That poor girl… She was just like me, and I could be next! For a few minutes, I sat there on the couch, in complete silence. Frozen, without moving a muscle. Something that I notoriously have a very difficult time doing, silently panicking, my breath coming in quick bursts as my mind races at a million miles per hour. Rage, fear, sadness, anxiety, disgust, and dysphoria all rampaging through my head, tearing the place up as I sat there, unmoving. Completely tuned out from the outside world until-
“HEY!” my mom shouted, clapping her hands in front of me. “Are you okay? You’re gonna be late for class at this rate.” “Uh, y-yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. I just need to go brush my teeth.” My mom walked back to the kitchen table, saying something, but I wasn’t listening. I stood up and made my way back up the stairs to my bathroom, placing my hands on the counter and staring at my reflection in the mirror, only to see *him* looking back at me. The person I’d been trying to escape from for so long now. I shut my eyes and lowered my head, trying to ignore my reflection. I’m not him, and he’s not me, so why do I still see him???
With a sigh, I reached for the bottle of pills on the counter—the hard stuff, for emergencies only, when you’re actively panicking. I tossed one in my mouth and washed it down with a cup of water. Taking a deep breath, I stood up straight, and while avoiding eye contact with the mirror, I grabbed my toothbrush, brushed my teeth, swished some mouthwash around for thirty seconds, spat it out, and headed back downstairs.
I slipped on my Hot Pink Conberse shoes and grabbed my backpack off of the banister before opening the front door. “Mom, I’m headed out!” I shouted over my shoulder. “Okay, have a good day!” her voice responded from the Living room. Closing the door, I walked outside and stopped momentarily to smell the fresh air, before getting into the front seat of my car. Closing the door, I shut my eyes and did some deep breathing for a good twenty to thirty seconds. I then pulled out my phone, plugged it into the car, turned on my playlist, and started the engine. Little did I know, that if I had waited in the doorway for just a few moments more, I would have heard a very interesting news report.
“And now for something seemingly straight out of a Sci-fi movie. a select number of clinics in major cities have begun to offer a new kind of hormone treatment for those who don’t feel comfortable in their own skin. Here’s Jonah with the report.”

The Best Retinol Duo (For Those Who Are Scared of Retinol)
For years “clinical” style and “Active” ingredient style products have seemed scary. Even for myself - a person who has been writing about beauty for over 12 years, but recently I took the plunge into retinol and I don’t regret it.
Sensitive skin, dry skin, and skin prone to eczema - it is no surprise I’ve kept away from Retinol for a while.  Retinol is a form of vitamin A and it’s an ingredient I’ve long wanted to incorporate into my anti-aging routine. It can help to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.  In addition, retinol has exfoliating properties, which can help to unclog pores and prevent breakouts (some people have great results with using retinol when they’ve got mila seeds around the eyes).Starting slow and avoiding products with too higher of a concentration - this is my ultimate skincare duo for those who are afraid of retinol but still want to enjoy the benefits.
Tumblr media
GOOD MOLECULES GENTLE RETINOL CREAM
With gentle in the name and a $8 USD price tag I had to try this retinol cream. Not to mention it’s virtually ALWAYS sold out which speaks volumes for its efficacy and importance as a retinol cream in your skincare routine. I use this approx. 3x a week after cleansing my skin.  The cream has a smooth, lightweight texture that absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a greasy residue and I’ve noticed a visible improvement in the glow of my skin and any uneven texture that lurks around. With a formulation of 0.1% retinol my dry sensitive skin is very tolerable to it.
Tumblr media
PEACE OUT SKINCARE RETINOL STICK & UNDER EYE BALM
This was the first Retinol product I ever tried and I LOVE it to pieces. As someone who is lazy with eye cream this is the perfect product to use - swipe it under the eye area and around the eye area a few times a week and see the results. As my skin starts to show signs of aging the biggest concern area I have is underneath my eyes and more specifically discoloration/dark spots. This has made a visible improvement in that area - I also like to swipe it over my forehead to help reduce the look of my fine lines. With micro-encapsulated retinol it’s not harsh like other retinol products and the smooth creamy balm feels nice on the eye area (and you don’t even need to tap it out under the eye area - talk about a lazy persons dream eye cream).
SUNSCREEN
If you’re using retinol I cannot stress the importance enough of wearing sunscreen. My go-to is the Ultraceuticals Mattifying Sunscreen with SPF 50+. If you’re in the states Supergoop Unseen Screen is a great option. You’ll also want to skip out on your AHA and BHA products like glycolic acid or salicylic acid to avoid skin irritation.

As someone with sensitive and dry skin, this summer is only getting hotter and as someone who lives in a hot and humid country, I took my skin care to a new level for it to adapt to this environment! .ೃ࿐ Skin Type: Sensitive Skin (face) Dry and Sensitive Skin (body) LONG READ AHEAD! 🍯🩰🧸🪡
Tumblr media
୨⎯ MORNING ROUTINE ⎯୧(DURING BATH) 🛁🫧🌅 -Before anything else, I cleanse my skin with an anti bacterial soap. ↳Product that I used is a local antibacterial soap (Safe guard). You can use anything as long as it gets rid of the build up first.
-I use a body scrub only twice a week (Wednesday and Sunday) to get ride of the clogged dirt in my pores and remove the dead skin cells and product build up and overall just leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean and improve my skin texture. ↳Product that I used is Dr. Teal's Epsom Salt and Body Scrub/ Human Nature Volcanic Cooling Body Scrub
-I never forget my shower gel and I always love how affordable and gourmand this smell is! ↳Product that I used is Bath and Body Works Strawberry Pound Cake Moisturizing Body Wash
-Next up is lotion. As someone who has scars on my legs growing up from bites and battle scars (me tripping and falling and scarring my legs) it has hindered me. Hydration and proper knowledge with ingredients that can help scars fade is a must. I believe Niacinamide and Vit. C has great contribution with lightening those scars.↳Product that I used is Avon's Green Papaya and Calamansi Lotion/ Vaseline UV Extra Brightening Nourishing Niacinamide Lotion
-Can't forget about my fragrance. I alternate gourmand and flowery and powdery scents. I mostly use fragrance mists! ↳Product that I used is Fairytale by BnBW, JOY by BnBW, Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte by BnBW. I use a oil-based perfume its Cassiopeia and I love it so much! ୨⎯ MORNING ROUTINE ⎯୧(FACE SKIN CARE ROUTINE) -I usually do not wash my face with cleanser but I only wash it with water. (Ik this is controversial but this has been my routine since I was still a teenager.)
-I use an ice cube that I froze over night to depuff my eyes (eyes only!)
-I apply my moisturizer. This moisturizer really hydrated my skin especially this summer. It has a lot ingredients that can help you with hydration and at the same time making your skin youthful and glowing! It is lightweight and just perfect for this summer!↳Product that I used is Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream -I apply my sunscreen. Genuinely love this sunscreen, the only sunscreen that didn't make me breakout! Never ever forget sunscreen! ↳Product that I used is Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++
-Next is my face mist/facial spray. Gotta keep the skin hydrated and fresh! ↳Product that I used is Evian Brumisateur Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray.
I always keep my morning routine simple since it's hot and humid here. I also bring with me a bottle of water and keep aware of what I eat and avoid eating foods that are oily and cause allergic reactions to my skin. ༉‧₊˚.
Tumblr media
୨⎯ EVENING ROUTINE ⎯୧ (DURING BATH) 🛁🫧🌆 -Still the same from above! I just do not overdo my scrubbing part and keep my skin hydrated! -୨⎯ EVENING ROUTINE ⎯୧(AFTER BATH/SKIN CARE FOR FACE) -Double cleansing your skin is that it removes the make up/sunscreen as well as remove those dirt that has built up through out the day. It also helps with absorption of your serums and other moisturizing products.↳Product that I used is Banila Clean it Zero cleansing Balm and Senka Perfect whip for cleansing foam
-I cannot forget my serum! Gotta love how lightweight this is and how it brightened up my dark spots! It has 5% niacinamide and love how this niacinamide worked and saved my skin.↳Product that I used is Axis Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum
-Another serum that I cannot gate keep is this local brand/product in my country! It's Cica Skin Repair Serum Soothing Gel from Ever Organics. You can find any alternative skin care serums/gels that has cica as I swear that this ingredient has helped me with my reddish spots and helped me stop my break out! I genuinely love love this product.
-For spot treatment, I use this only when I have breakouts (I rarely have breakouts nowadays, probably during period days only!) ↳Product that I used Face Republic Calming Spot Oint Gel (I only bought the sachet one)
I think it's essential for us to take care of our body, not just our skin. Our body is our temple and we must good care of it. It's never too late to start and take care of your body. Take care of yourself not to impress others but as a form of self love. I think we should remember and remind ourselves to love and appreciate ourselves. ₍ ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ₎˚୨୧
I hope this post has reached all of you needing inspos or don't know where to begin. I'm still a growing account after all! But I'd like to share with you all what has helped me. Can't wait to have moots too! 🎀🩰🪡

2022′s favorite skincare, make-up and fragrances tagged by my longtime fave @nito-onna. here is the link is her much more articulate post!
starting with skincare...
rohto mentholatum - acnes anti-bacteria spot dressing patch. I’ve tried two acne patches in the last couple months and this one is by far the better one. It’s very thin and unnoticable, it comes in two sizes per sheet and has helped me quicken the process of popped pimples and whiteheads
lush - catastrophe cosmetic. this clay mask is probably one of the best lush fresh masks I’ve used, and I’m planning to repurchase it with my recyclables. It’s more moisturizing than it seems, and after it dries it flakes off and makes for a very easy cleaning process (compared to every other lush fresh mask).
laneige - water bank blue hyaluronic eye cream. I’m not a consistent user of eye cream, even though I should be but I’ve stuck with using the one from laneige for the last couple months. It’s straightforwardly packaged, supple and gel-like which makes it very light on the under eyes. It also lasts for a long time
fresh nation - b5 hydropower lip care. one of my go-to lip balms during these last winter months. I also slather it on as an overnight lip mask. It’s not heavy, scentless but moisturizes well. It was also like $14 for 3...
bush balm - bermuda dark spot exfoliating scrub and oil combination. probably one of my most favorite finds of 2022. I’ve been using this religiously on my underarms and I do see a very gradual fading of my dark spots. the sugar scrub is very gentle, and the oil is not excessively greasy. this is my only ongoing subscription on amazon
going to make-up...
wet n wild - megaglo makeup stick in sand. one of the BEST concealers I’ve used in years, and the only con about this is that it kinda stinks. this shade is perfect for my skintone, it’s not very heavy, extremely cheap and does a really good job on my eye bags. I haven’t found a concealer in this suitable of a shade ever
glossier - cloud paint in beam. a forever favorite item for me regardless of the year. I’ve had one tube of this bush for the last 3 years so it really goes a long way, and I do not leave the house on a day out without using this. the cream texture is light and versatile and you can build the strength of the blush according to your preference.
dejavu - fiberwig ultra long mascara in pure black. again, an item I’ve used for a couple years and still love and is always apart of my make-up routine. It’s the one mascara I’ve used that doesn’t clump and elongates my lashes without making spider legs. I haven’t experimented with any other mascara after finding this one.
lastly I only have one fragrance and its...
giorgio armani - sì eau de parfum. all I can say is that this is my scent. If you ever meet me in person I’ll smell like this. I’ve gone back and forth from different perfumes but I always end up coming back to sì. I’m not a big fan of floral scents, so this one is more musky. I have used this since high school and have not found a scent I like as much as this.
thanks for reading if you’ve gotten this far. I tag @033h, @vensulove, @calpicowater, @idleminds, @julieterbang and everyone who likes pentagon to do this tag!

Do you think yhe Terry face mask makes a difference? Also what are your current fave beauty products if you don't mind💞
I mean—your milage may vary, but when I woke up this morning my skin was a little plumper and more hydrated than usual (which is what I buy the masks for!) so, sure! BUT!!! It’s a pricey mask ($29 AUD), so I only buy them occasionally, for a little pampering (or to pregame an event!)! I really like sheet masks in general because they make a mundane routine (cleaning your face) more fun, but most of the time I buy Korean ones, which are way cheaper and just as (if not more!) effective! My skin concerns might be different to yours, but I buy masks to address one of several problems:
1. I’m having a breakout, and need my skin to calm the fuck down (teatree, generally, something that feels antiseptic)
2. I’m having a reaction, and need my skin to calm the fuck down (ingredients that will soothe it, cool down the redness!)
3. I’m tired and feel dry (so, something that feels nourishing or at least gives me an excuse to go lie down in a dark room and pretend I’m in a coffin for 15 minutes)
I don’t worry about anti-aging promises, or anything like that—sunscreen is the only thing I use that might even address that, and even then that’s less “anti-aging” and more “holy shit I don’t want the face doctor to dig cancer spots out of my face” LOL. As a whole I hate the whole, “omg you HAVE to prevent any visible signs of aging!!! don’t smile, don’t frown, don’t use your skin!!!” rhetoric that skincare and beauty in general markets itself off of. Fear mongering!!! A few lines and squiggles and saggy bits and pocks and divets make us interesting and human and idk—we’re lucky we get to age. 🥺
I use eye patches mostly for psychological reasons lmfao—like when I’ve been staring at a screen for too hard and too long. I have deep-set eye bags that aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, so I don’t bother with anything that claims much more than just “it’ll feel nice for a few minutes” lmaooo. The Patchology Rosé ones were a impulse buy, but they were fun!
After I saw your ask, though, I went and rummaged around in my drawers—I’m going to stay clear of anything too skincare-y, because YMMV, and I won’t include perfumes for the same reason, but after some thought, here’s my current faves:
Tumblr media
From left-to-right, top-to-bottom!
1. Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream Mask
2. Cancer Council Face Day Wear SPF50+ Serum (Sunscreen!)
3. Chantecaille Cheek Gelée Blush (I wear Vibrant! I’m also a big fan of their skincare range—I just repurchased the Hibiscus Smoothing Mask, it’s an exfoliator!)
4. Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush + Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation (I have Orchid Rose, in the blush, and the foundation is a light-to-medium coverage!)
5. Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder
6. Shiseido ColourGel Lip Balm (the colour I have is Redwood! It’s orangey on me. Their eyeshadows are fun to play with and come in single pans, but I got into Shiseido because of their toner! I actually have a complimentary service at Mecca Cosmetica that I need to use—I normally just let them slide away bc I like doing my own makeup LOL, but the girl serving me in-store on Friday was like, “nooo, you should use it! We can play with the Shiseido stuff!” so I was like okeee LOL fml im so easily led it’s not funny 😭)
7. Tatcha The Silk Canvas Primer (it’s novel to play with lmaooo, but it does a decent job! I like how it smells! I originally wanted the ELF putty—but every Kmart I went to was sold out, and a friend was like, oh, that’s a dupe for the Tatcha one so I was like, oke, lmaooo)
8. Caudalíe Grape Water Face Mist (Caudalíe is fun and I love the scent, but be wary of overpaying for it lmfao. I think people see French brands and are like ooooo, so fancy, but it’s basically a pharmacy brand! A great one, don’t get me wrong, but if you’re buying it for like three times the price then just—don’t, LOL. I bought the Grape Water on impulse from Sephora, because I needed a new face spray—but tbh unless you’re like, in France for a bit and walk past a store or a Citypharma then there are other, more easily accessible brands!!! Saying that, I live by their hand cream—it smells like sherbet and it’s such a delight to put on!! i like to give myself lil hand massages when I use it and i’m almost out and im going to be DEVASTATED when it’s gone. 🥹)
I haven’t listed any eye-products because I’m trying to find a mascara that doesn’t try to murder me while driving by stinging my eyes and smearing everywhere and then making the stinging worse which makes me tear up while I’m flying down the goddamn highway—but eyeshadow wise, I only have a couple of palettes, and a few single-pan shades! I have a Pat McGrath Mothership palette (Mothership II, sublime), which is my absolute favourite. And a Chanel quad, which is nice and portable! And then I impulse bought the Huda Rose Quartz palette last year, literally days before I sprained my ankle and ruined my life. I haven’t had much of a chance to wear it since! The colours are very dreamy—shimmery lavenders and pinks and I like the romance of the idea of wearing them, but—oh my God I just gave myself an idea for something. Maybe an anime boyfriend smearing our shimmery eyeshadow with his thumb??? hmmm hmm.

Type: Plot Progression | EVENT: "There One Moment, Gone the Next" Universe: Sandstorm Location: Botanical Kingdom
[Part One | Part Two | Part Three]
Tumblr media
"He should've been here..." Node's murmur filled the clearing, just beyond the bush's inner edge. Cream-yellow ears twitched, hazel hues dashing from one empty patch of grass to another. Their anti-gravity skates pushed down the grass with each step, the night's dew gathering in droplets on the soles. The moonlight was barely able to get through, here- making it impossible to ignore the blazing light.
Their hands slowly rose to their head, pushing down as if they could squeeze the fear out of their thoughts. Where was he? He wasn't here,-
Tumblr media
"NODE!" They didn't have enough time to react before they were slammed to the ground, encased in bulky, furry limbs. "Thank Chaos,- you've been getting faster on those skates!" His laugh had tears brimming in Node's eyes. They buried their face in his chest, powdery-blue fur brushing against their nose. They didn't even care that it tickled as they wrapped their smaller arms around whatever they could reach- pulling Bless close in a hug as they shook.
"Oh my God,- Sonic..." They whimpered. A bright green light was in their vision- burning through their closed lids. He'd been hit, too.
"I'm fine- didn't even feel a thing." Bless was quick to reassure, slowly standing up with Node still in his arms. He chuckled quietly as he set them down. "...you're all wet, Nodesy." He retracted his hands- only to be met with watery blood. The werehog's eyes flashed towards Node. "...what happened?" And yet, he spotted that light- a different color from his own, but blazing in Node's chest, only barely dimmed by their dark tank-top.
Tumblr media
"I'd guess the same thing that happened to you..." Their hand pressed into the center of the ring on their boyfriend's chest. Two rings... Two lights from the sky. "...I can't teleport, Bless." The words were met with a momentary silence- before a small smile crossed the other's face.
"...it's gonna be alright, Node." He squeezed them once more- this time, careful not to pressure the injuries on their back. Node, for their part, had yet to flinch- but it wasn't the best feeling in the world, all the same.
The two went still.
Vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
No words passed between them- just a glance.
"C'mon, c'mon c'mon c'mon--!" A woman's voice- a rather familiar woman's voice- yelped. Pink fur crashed through the bush's inner edge, nearly barreling into the pair. She only stopped at the last second, bright-pink metal flashing in the moonlight as her board suddenly upturned. The mobian jumped off, revealing the hedgehog as she landed and picked her board out of the air.
"Incoming!!!" From above, a blur of yellow just barely avoided crashing into the ground- a familiar bright-yellow fox just barely stopping his Extreme Gear- a standing platform of sorts- before it would have crashed head-long into the dirt.
Tumblr media
"Bless? Node?--- What're you two doing here???" Amy's words were stopped by the sight of a certain ring... Glowing bright red in her hands. Unlike Bless and Node- she wasn't inhabited by it.
And Tails- the two-tailed fox that was just beginning to stand... Had a bright blue glow in his chest.
"We could ask you the same thing!" Bless scratched his head. "What were you guys running from?" Amy's eyes narrowed in on the matching rings of light on both mobians, as did Tails'.
"Why are your chests glowing???"
"You guys too????"
"If I knew, I'd tell ya, n' yes!" Node ran a hand down their face. "---Guys,- why were you running?" The hedgehog at least seemed to pause for a moment, bright-green hues sliding between the two as understanding dawned.
"....We were being chased by Meteo-Tech guards..."
"...was it only after you got those glowing rings?" Bless nodded towards the thing in Amy's hands. It looked to be made of metal- with varying areas on it that glowed a rather bright red. Almost like glass, but there was a strange fluid within... Though it wasn't anything Bless could make out, not even with squinting. Tails' ring was pulsing, probably to his heartbeat- a bright blue glow, like the ocean reflecting sunlight.
"Yeah- they kept saying they were 'the Ark of the Cosmos' or something like that." Amy shook her head. "...when we didn't turn them over, they started shooting- I had to get on my board and escape...."
Tumblr media
"And now they're in the Botanical Kingdom..." Bless sighed. The sound of engines flew overhead, momentarily freezing the conversation into silence. Only when the sounds had gone, did the trio dare to so much as move- let alone speak- again. "Whatever's going on, Meteo-Tech seems to have a hand in it."
Tumblr media
"Then we should just head for Meteo-Tech Tower." Tails hummed. "...If we all went top speed..." Her tails had begun to wave in the air, slow but steady. "It'll be a few hours... Node, I'm guessing you can't teleport?"
"Correct-o..." Node mumbled.
"Then Amy, Sonic, you two'll have to be on defense, in case any 'bots show up...with any luck, we'll make it to Meteo-Tech Tower before dawn..."
"You got it."
The rumble of engines overhead was getting louder.
"RETURN THE ARK OF THE COSMOS."
Node was halfway through a turn when Amy's voice caught their attention.
"Node!" Amy had thrown down her board. Node snapped their own gear into the ground, hearing the skates power on. The fox wasted no time jumping into the air. Tails had already gotten back on his hoverboard. Bless was on all fours again, eyes narrowed.
"BOLT!" The team burst through the bush, twigs scratching at fur and skin, thwacking metal.
Chaos filled the air as Bless and Amy both jumped, one using claws, the other her hammer- bashing the attacking 'bots into the dirt mid-flight. Tails leaned forward, pouring on the speed.
Tumblr media
"Ring!" Bless hit a golden ring towards Tails. The ring vanished in a flash of sparks- and Tails' board sped up. Node breathed in, slow and steady. They'd be running for a while- no doubt about it... "Ring!" It hit Node's skates, only to vanish in another flash. Node's ears flattened as the wind blew them down.
"RETURN THE ARK OF THE C--" CSH!! Another 'bot fell to Amy's summoned hammer.
Tumblr media
"Next stop, Meteo-Tech Tower!"

Face Republic Blooming Time Bakuchiol Cream and Blooming Collagen Eye Booster Review
Tumblr media
The signs of ageing can show up earlier than you might expect, with some appearing as early as your mid to late twenties (between 26 to 28 years old).
These signs can include enlarged pores, a buildup of dead skin cells, fine lines around the eyes, and of course, wrinkles. To combat and slow down these signs, it's crucial to use anti-ageing products that are effective and reliable.
This is where I turn to Face Republic, a South Korean skincare brand that I've been using for years. I'm no stranger to their product line, having tried and loved their Purity Sun Essence and Hydro Barrier Ceramide Cream.
In this review, we'll be taking a closer look at their Blooming Time Bakuchiol Cream and Blooming Collagen Eye Booster, both of which can be paired with their Blooming Forever Nourishing Serum to maximize their benefits.

What is Bakuchiol?
If you're after the benefits of retinol but don't want to deal with its potential side effects, look no further. Derived from the Psoralea corylifolia plant, Bakuchiol, offers similar anti-ageing and antioxidant properties to retinol without the skin irritation that can come with it.
This natural ingredient promotes collagen production, helping to prevent signs of ageing and improve skin firmness and health. Unlike retinol, Bakuchiol is gentle and suitable for all skin types, making it a great option to use day or night for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Face Republic Blooming Time Bakuchiol Cream Review
The Face Republic Blooming Time Bakuchiol Cream is a superb lotion-type moisturizer that effortlessly glides onto the skin, leaving you with a radiant and flawless complexion. Its tangy floral scent is a delightful touch, reminding me of dried kumquats.
As you apply it, the cream feels cool and refreshing on the skin, and its texture is unique. Despite looking like a cream at first glance, it feels more like a combination of gel and lightweight cream that quickly absorbs into the skin. Once fully absorbed, my skin feels smooth and soft, with the lingering hint of the tangy floral fragrance.
Tumblr media
After using this moisturizer, I notice that my skin feels well-hydrated and moisturized, with no greasy residue left behind. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the Face Republic Blooming Time Bakuchiol Cream and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight, effective moisturiser that leaves your skin feeling nourished and refreshed.

Face Republic Blooming Collagen Eye Booster
Taking care of the delicate skin around our eyes is crucial in preventing premature ageing, as this area tends to lack moisture and nutrients due to the low number of sebaceous glands. That's why eye creams are an essential part of any skincare routine.
Face Republic Blooming Collagen Eye Booster is a great option for nourishing and firming fine lines and wrinkles. This anti-wrinkle eye cream utilises plant-derived low-molecular collagen and vita peptide ingredients to lift and brighten the eye area, helping to rejuvenate the skin around your eyes in your daily routine.
Tumblr media
Brightens Dull Skin and Smooth Fine Lines
Similar to the Blooming Time Bakuchiol Cream, the Blooming Collagen Eye Booster includes Niacinamide and Vita-Peptide, flower-derived extracts, and ceramide for rich nourishment and deep hydration.
The wrinkle-filling complex and plant collagen complex work together to smooth fine lines and improve firmness, while the vita-peptide brightens dull skin and enhances skin elasticity for a youthful glow.
The formula is mild, clean, and dermatologically tested, with no artificial fragrance or colouring, and it absorbs quickly and smoothly, leaving your skin feeling moisturised.

Face Republic Blooming Collagen Eye Booster Review
What I love most about this eye cream is how easily it glides onto my skin. The clear and precise tip makes it easy to dispense just the right amount of product, and the cooling sensation upon application is a refreshing treat for my tired eyes.
Tumblr media
I've also noticed that the cream absorbs quickly into my skin without leaving any residue or heaviness. This is a huge plus for me, as I have oily skin and often struggle to find eye creams that don't feel too greasy.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Face Republic Blooming Collagen Eye Booster to anyone looking for an effective and easy-to-use eye cream. It's a game-changer in my skincare routine, and I can't imagine going without it now.

Face Republic Blooming Time Bakuchiol Cream and Blooming Collagen Eye Booster Review
Overall, I have really enjoyed adding the Face Republic Blooming Time Bakuchiol Cream and Blooming Collagen Eye Booster to my daily skincare routine. The tangy floral scent of both products is delightful and they apply smoothly onto my skin without leaving any greasy residue, even on my oily T-zone.
While I have only been using the products for two weeks, I have noticed a slight improvement in my skin's radiance. However, the creams are still working to combat my wrinkles, but I am hopeful that with continued use, I will see even better results.

What Order Should I Follow for My Skin Care Routine?
Whether you want a simple 3-step routine for the morning or have time for a full 10-step regimen at night, the order in which you apply your products matters.
Why? There isn’t much point in having a skincare routine if your products don’t get a chance to penetrate your skin.
QUICK GUIDE
Tumblr media
What should I use in the morning?
Morning skin care routines are all about prevention and protection. Your face is going to be exposed to the outside environment, so the necessary steps include moisturizer and sunscreen.
Tumblr media
Step 1: Oil-based cleanser
What is it?  Cleansers come in two forms: water-based and oil-based. The latter is intended to dissolve oils produced by your skin. How to use it: Some oil-based cleansers are designed to work their magic on wet skin. Others are best on dry skin. Read the instructions before applying a small amount to your skin. Massage in and rinse thoroughly with water before drying with a clean towel.
Step 2: Water-based cleanser
What is it?  These cleansers primarily contain surfactants, which are ingredients that allow water to rinse away dirt and sweat. They can also remove the oils collected by an oil-based cleanser. How to use it: Massage into wet skin and rinse with water before drying.
Step 3: Toner or astringent
What is it?  Toners are designed to replenish skin through hydration and remove dead cells and dirt left behind after cleansing. An astringent is an alcohol-based product used to remove excess oil. How to use it: Straight after cleansing, either tap directly onto the skin or onto a cotton pad and swipe over the face in an outward motion.
Step 4: Antioxidant serum
What is it?  Serums contain a high concentration of certain ingredients. An antioxidant-based serum will protect skin against damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals. Vitamins C and E are common antioxidants used to improve texture and firmness. Others to look out for include green tea, resveratrol, and caffeine. How to use it: Pat a few drops onto your face and neck.
Step 5: Spot treatment
What is it?  If you have a blemish with a head, first look for an anti-inflammatory product to remove it, then turn to a spot-drying treatment to clear up the rest. Anything under the skin is classified as a cyst and will require a product that targets the infection on the inside. How to use it: Use a damp cotton swab to remove any skin care products from the spot. Apply a small amount of the treatment and leave to dry.
Step 6: Eye cream
What is it?  The skin around your eyes tends to be thinner and more sensitive. It’s also prone to signs of aging, including fine lines, puffiness, and darkness. A good eye cream can brighten, smooth, and firm up the area, but it won’t completely eliminate issues. How to use it: Dab a small amount onto the eye area using your ring finger.
Step 7: Lighter face oil
What is it?  The lighter the product, the earlier you should apply it. Easily absorbable oils are lightweight and should therefore come before moisturizer. They’re especially useful if your skin’s showing signs of dryness, flakiness, or dehydration. How to use it: Squeeze a few drops onto your fingertips. Rub them together gently to warm the oil before lightly dabbing onto your face.
Step 8: Moisturizer
What is it?  A moisturizer will soothe and soften skin. If you have a dry skin type, opt for a cream or balm. Thicker creams work best on normal or combination skin, and fluids and gels are recommended for oilier types. Effective ingredients include glycerine, ceramides, antioxidants, and peptides. How to use it: Take a slightly bigger than pea-sized amount and warm it in your hands. Apply to the cheeks first, then to the rest of the face using upward strokes.
Step 9: Heavier face oil
What is it?  Oils that take some time to absorb or simply feel thick fall into the heavy category. Best suited for dry skin types, these should be applied after moisturizer to seal in all the goodness. How to use it: Follow the same process as the lighter oil.
Step 10: Sunscreen
What is it?  Sunscreen is a critical final step in your morning skin care routine. Not only can it lower your risk of skin cancer, but it can also reduce signs of aging by blocking damaging UV light. The American Cancer SocietyTrusted Source recommends choosing a broad spectrum sunblock rated SPF 30 or higher that protects against UVA and UVB light. How to use it: Spread liberally over your face and massage in. Make sure to apply it 15 to 30 minutes before you go outside. Never apply skin care products on top, as this can dilute the sunscreen.
Step 11: Foundation or other base makeup
What is it?  If you want to wear makeup, a base layer will give you a smooth, even complexion. Opt for foundation — which comes in a cream, liquid, or powder form — or a lightweight tinted moisturizer or BB cream. How to use it: Use a brush or sponge to apply makeup. Start at the center of the face and blend outward. To seamlessly blend the edges, use a damp sponge.
What should I use at night?
Focus on repairing the damage done during the day with thicker products at night. This is also the time to use anything that makes skin sensitive to sunlight, including physical exfoliants and chemical peels.
Tumblr media
Step 1: Oil-based makeup remover
What is it?  As well as dissolving the natural oils produced by your skin, an oil-based cleanser can break down oily ingredients found in makeup. How to use it: Follow the specific product instructions. They may advise you to apply the makeup remover on wet or dry skin. Once applied, massage in until skin is clean, then rinse with water.
Step 2: Water-based cleanser
What is it?  Water-based cleansers react with makeup and dirt on the skin in a way that allows everything to be rinsed away with water. How to use it: Follow the instructions. Usually, you’ll apply it to wet skin, massage in, and rinse off.
Step 3: Exfoliator or clay mask
What is it?  Exfoliation removes dead skin cells while clearing pores. Clay masks work to unclog pores, but can also absorb excess oil. These masks are best applied at night to remove leftover dirt and help the skin soak up other products. How to use it: Exfoliators have different application methods, so follow product instructions. For clay masks, once or twice per week, apply the mask all over or to specific problem areas. Leave on for the recommended time, then rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Step 4: Hydrating mist or toner
What is it?  A hydrating mist or toner marks the end of your nighttime cleansing routine. DermNet NZ says you should look out for humectant ingredients — lactic acid, hyaluronic acid, and glycerine — to really give skin a moisture boost. How to use it: Spritz mists over your face. For toners, apply the product to a cotton pad and swipe over the skin.
Step 5: Acid treatment
What is it?  Dousing your face in acid may sound scary, but this skin care treatment can encourage cell turnover. Beginners may want to try glycolic acid. Other options include acne-busting salicylic acid and moisturizing hyaluronic acid. Over time, you should notice a brighter and more even complexion. How to use it: Start once per week with the goal of using every night. Do a patch test at least 24 hours before first use. Add a few drops of the solution to a cotton pad and sweep across the face. Make sure to avoid the eye area.
Step 6: Serums and essences
What is it?  Serums deliver powerful ingredients directly to the skin. An essence is simply a watered-down version. Vitamin E is great for dry skin, while antioxidants like green tea extract can be used on dull complexions. If you’re prone to breakouts, try retinol or vitamin C. How to use it: Carry out a patch test 24 hours before using a new serum or essence. If skin looks good, dispense the product into your hand and press into your skin. You can layer multiple products. Just apply water-based ones before oil-based and wait around 30 seconds between each.
Step 7: Spot treatment
What is it?  Anti-inflammatory products are for blemishes with a head. Follow with a spot-drying treatment. Ones that dry visibly are great for nighttime use. How to use it: Make sure skin is clean. Apply a small amount of product and leave to dry. Skip this treatment if you're spot free.
Step 8: Hydrating serum or mask
What is it?  Some products can clog pores, but hydrating serums aren’t one of them. With the ability to pack a real moisture punch, they’re wonderful for dry skin. How to use it: These powerful hydrators can come in various forms. Some are serums. Others are thicker masks. And some are even designed to be left on overnight. If this is the case, apply it at the end of your routine. Just follow the instructions on the pack and you’re good to go.
Step 9: Eye cream
What is it?  A richer nighttime eye cream can help improve appearance-related issues, like tiredness and fine lines. Look for a high concentration of peptides and antioxidants. How to use it: Apply a small amount of cream to the eye area and dab in.
Step 10: Face oil
What is it?  A nighttime oil is great for dry or dehydrated skin. The evening is the best time to apply thicker oils that may result in an unwanted shiny complexion. How to use it: Pat a few drops into the skin. Make sure no other product is applied on top for the best results.
Step 11: Night cream or sleep mask
What is it?  Night creams are a totally optional last step, but they can be worthwhile. While day creams are designed to protect the skin, these rich moisturizers help cell repair. Sleep masks, on the other hand, seal in all your other products and contain hydrating ingredients mild enough to be kept on overnight. How to use it: Warm a small amount of product in your hands before distributing it evenly across your face.
Frequently asked questions
What routine should I follow for dry skin?
If your skin is dry, focus your routine on hydration and building a healthy skin barrier. Follow the steps above but swap out products that may be too harsh or acidic for those that add moisture to your skin and help it retain that moisture.
What is a basic skin care routine?
A basic skincare routine has fewer steps than an expanded one but keeps your skin clean and healthy. The steps can depend on your needs and the amount of time you have. Usually, a basic routine includes removing makeup, cleansing your face, applying a spot treatment for any blemishes, using sunblock during the day, and putting on moisturizer.
At what age should you start a skincare routine?
It’s never too early — or late — to start a skin care routine. Even kids can practice taking care of their skin by washing their faces when they wake up and before bed and applying sunscreen during the day.
But, choose the steps and specific products in your routine for your skin concerns and age. Adolescents, for example, may need a routine built on products to help manage blemishes and oily skin. Adults may focus more on products that support their skin as it ages. Build a routine that’s right for you.
The bottom line
Not everyone loves a 10-step routine, so don’t feel pressured to include every step in the above lists.
For many people, a good rule of thumb is to apply products thinnest to thickest — for however many products that may be — as they move through their skin care routines.
The most important thing is finding a skincare routine that works for you and that you’ll follow. Whether that involves the whole shebang or a simplified ritual, have fun experimenting.
