watching this happen in real time. The Doctor Who fandom can pretend to be progressive all it want but it's still filled with people being willingly racist and ignorant. Especially the people pretending that criticizing the way Russel T Davies is changing the rules just so that the first Black person to play the Doctor can be overshadowed, means you're not a real fan and a poser.
Tumblr media
[ID: A stick figure comic with a person with brown skin saying, holding up one hand, "Yeah, [insert thing] was racist.". Across from them, a stick figure with white skin has their arms crossed over their chest, replying, "Really? Well I don't think race had anything to do with it. I didn't even notice that the butt of the joke was a Black person." End ID.]
You get a Racism Bonus if the white person follows or proceeds this statement with "I understand the criticism of Russel T Davies' writing of race in the past, but I just don't think this instance was racist"

So weird to see pple on this site still going gaga over David Cross and Bob Odenkirk as if they both don't have a history of being antiblack (despite David's leftist politics 😑 but then again, it doesn't mean shit), or David not having a history of being racist to Asians and then getting defensive when called out on it, along with defending Jefferey Tambor's workplace bullying and Bobby boy isn't a Zionist who signed the Biden letter.

You know what the problem is? Too many nonblack people treat advocacy and solidarity with us (Black people) as transactional, and then it only goes one way, and that’s their way. We advocate for them in whatever capacity we can, but it’s never ever enough for the nonblacks, and they see any advocacy we do for ourselves as an inherent betrayal. They cry foul over it because they “advocated” for us (which lmao no they didn’t most times), so it becomes “why aren’t the Blacks helping us?! Why is everyone supporting them and not us?!”
Simple: they see us not as comrades in the struggle, but as their own personal pack mules and message bearers, and doing less than what they demand is tantamount to declaring (online) war.

So many Black people have been talking about how holding all these Palestinians reporting on the genocide of their people on some sort of pedestal is such a bad idea, how they're going to fuck up because they're people and there's no space for them to do that if you shove them on a pedestal and now (mostly nonBlack) people are soooo surprised and pissed that Black people spoke up about antiBlackness in pro-Palestinian spaces and now they're throwing around accusations that Black people just want an excuse not to support Palestinians...
Like, no motherfucker. If you'd been listening to Black people, you'd know a lot of them have been expecting this. Some Palestinians are literally Black and have been talking about it for ages. If you'd been listening to Black people, you would know they're not speaking up to say "don't support Palestinians", they're speaking up to say "that's antiBlackness, don't preach that, its an enemy to all of us". But so many (nonBlack) people immediately think the worst when Black people speak up.
Like, so many non-Palestinians specifically are speaking up to say "you're just speaking from a place of privilege and even if it was antiBlack, Palestinians don't have time to deal with that right now, they're facing genocide" as if the conversation wasn't started mainly by Sudanese people who are literally also facing genocide right now.
It's so telling the way people respond as if Black people suggested abandoning Palestinians. That was not even the conversation. But so many of y'all are so used to misunderstanding and abandoning Black people that I guess you missed that, huh.

This video breaks it all down perfectly, and it’s exactly what we need to hear in 2024. Being a barb after everything Nicki has said and done is just pure nonsense. I stand behind Megan thee Stallion and Jennifer Hough and fuck all the abuse apologists and cult-like stans who will say otherwise

I don’t have much context for what was said and what happened but I don’t think I’d stop supporting Palestine because of what was said. He’s just one person. Idk, stop treating these people like idols and trends I guess 🫡? Then you won’t be disappointed when they go mask off racist. Your support should extend further than idolization.

its 2am but i think more people need to recognize that yes you can change and no longer hold the bigoted beliefs you held in the past, BUT that doesnt mean that people from the groups you degraded, dehumanized, or called slurs have to forgive you or want to be around you, yknow?

"Police ruled out Hardesty as a suspect in the crash later the same day. Police and prosecutors identified the actual driver as a Black woman from Vancouver."
it's very very bad & ted wheeler should be run out of town on a rail & the whole ppb burned to the ground

Thank you for offering this.
I want to apologize for perpetuating racist readings of Mace Windu. I admit that I grew defensive because of the response to my initial post, particularly because of the accusations regarding my opinions and person that weren’t true. That being said, I should have been more aware to what blogs from people of color were saying. These are the opinions that ultimately matter on this issue and I should have done a better job at identifying and listening to these voices.
As a trans woman, I know how hard it can be to always have the burden on yourself to explain prejudice and stereotypes and the damage they do. I also understand the emotional reaction that coming across these opinions can have and I apologize for reacting negatively to this.
I’m trying better to understand why the specific reading I had for this character perpetuates racism in the narrative and the larger fandom. It is an area of ignorance and I do appreciate those that responded with the attempt to educate and explain. If you have any resources that you think I would benefit from, I would greatly appreciate you sending them my way through messages or asks. I apologize again and thank you for any consideration or understanding you are willing to offer.
Prefacing this with who is is for and a small message -
To all those affected in this situation as the apology is for all of the Pro Mace Windu accounts defending him on an anti black post by this creator. This is in no way defence of the creator or for any personal gain on my part, and as always, this apology is only to be accepted or declined by those affected in the situation.
I am completely neutral on this apology as it isn't my place to accept, but I do request the comments and my blog space is kept as polite. This apology is on my page as this creator has been blocked by some of those who the apology is for and wanted them to receive it properly, as offered by myself to pass any apology on if the creator wished to do so.
I do not know of everyone involved but I know @mace-windu-appreciationweek was one of the main blogs involved so they have been tagged - if anyone else should be tagged, please let me know and I will either edit this post to tag them or tag them within the comments.

i sincerely apologize to anyone who was ever hurt by another bucky kin. the stories i've been seeing people share on this account are grisly. how the fuck is somebody out there trying to earn back the name bucky, trying to earn back the privilege of being a person, and turning around and doing nazi shit. autonomous, free from hydra, and actively choosing all that disgusting shit? man i bet they didn't even have to bother with the brainwashing to get those iterations of me compliant. fuck.
rhodey i am sorry that the bucky you met hatecrimed you with content of explicit violence against folks who didn't do anything but be born looking like you. i'm sorry that his harassment isolated you from a community that should've been, was supposed to be, a safe place for you. you deserve to not just safe but welcomed and appreciated by your past friends and teammates. it is the duty of folks within the community and hosting servers or accounts to weed out people like him. you deserve a place in the kin community and he does not.
maria i am sorry that you were hatecrimed and harassed by the steve and bucky that you interacted with, i am sorry that it sounds like you were already getting this treatment from others as well. you didn't do a single thing wrong, i am sorry that your trust and safety was compromised by people whose entire deal was supposed to be fighting against that shit. your son is a good man and you have every right be proud of him. i only have positive memories of your husband, back during the war, and i wish i could've gotten to know him more. i wish i could've gotten to know you more. i also apologize for killing you and your husband back when i was under hydra's control, for the suffering i caused you and your family. i don't remember the incident but i remember enough to know that i did it in my timeline as well and i still feel responsible for it.
to the steve a while back who had to deal with graphic vitriolic death threats towards his boyfriend from other buckys I am sorry. in my timeline tony and i had our fair share of rocky moments, especially in the beginning, but we became friends and we genuinely cared about each other. most of our issues came from the fact that i fucking murdered his parents. and from us both being shit at clear boundaries so we kept accidentally triggering each other for a while. i know i'm not your buck because in my memories you were with sam and not tony, but no bucky who cares about you would say anything like that to you because they'd know full well it would only upset you, even if they were dealing with violent intrusive thoughts they wouldn't hurt you with them like that. and if they don't prioritize your wellbeing i don't think they even count as a bucky.

Just letting you know there are afro Palestinians mad about the accusations against bisan and motaz. Bisan being racist is total misinformation. People saying that are doing so without evidence.

I did see both of these earlier. The thing is, both the Sudanese women speak Arabic so it's not like they were lost in translation 100%... it feels odd to call it a western lense when theyre literally in Sudan right now.
I'm not gonna comment on what bisan posted because she didn't like make the video herself so we don't know what she meant by it really.
But what motaz said did hurt people's feelings even if it wasn't what he meant. He did end up apologizing and one of the women who expressed discomfort accepted it though. I think that's all that really needed to happen right now, that and being careful and dismantling potentially insensitive remarks to make sure we're no unintentionally harming people.
Here's the tweet where motaz apologized and kushitedictator accepted if you want to see:
Tumblr media
There were some people that didn't like what was being said and I think that it's not my place to comment on that. Here's what you sent. Samah Fadil posts about her cousins in Gaza a lot as well if you want to check her out.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Either way the only thing nonblack Arabs should be concerned with in my opinion is dismantling antiblackness in our communities and talking more about Sudan and Darfur especially. I don't especially want to talk about the ideas and thoughts behind what motaz said because again, I don't think it's appropriate for me to speak over a Sudanese woman's feelings especially now.

They’re calling my baby Gojo, Joseph Joestar now
Tumblr media
#rambling#the diff is that Gojo did apologize after being called out and face to face with his racism whilst Joseph literally befriended nazi’s 😵‍💫#and there was never any explanation from araki as to why he’d even wrote German soldiers in the shit in the first place like that was#absolutely jarring as hell to read for the very first time back when I’d gotten into jjba#well I watched it first but you know#like Joseph really thought fondly of Stroheim as this stand up guy even though he’s first of all#a Nazi#and second#the first scene that we were introduced to was of him sexually harassing a Woman#it’s……. 🗿#still to this day I wonder if araki had ever addressed this because lord#Joseph was just happy to get the help I guess but that felt so ooc for him from what he’d seen 🗣️#happily receiving the help of a Nazi and calling them a nice guy ahhh Joseph-#Gojo would never sjjsaj#my boo boo is a little prejudice but he’s working on it 🗣️#I still think that gege was trying to have a ‘racism is bad’ moment but again#the execution was pretty awkward and it felt out of place considering what had been currently going down in the manga#like the Racism was pretty random but it was swiftly put to a stop which I can appreciate even if it shouldn’t have been a point of#conversation to begin with since why couldn’t Miguel just exist as a character instead of him being the now token negro#who everyone sees as instantly more frighteningly powerful than everyone else like this didn’t even need to be brought up wllssldk#idk gege was trying to be ‘woke’ 😭. sorry nbs and wp ruined the term for me but like basically lol#gojo’s pretty intelligent and extremely gifted but he’s never been perfect lol#it’s just that idk why gege chose to talk about antiblackness in Japan out of nowhere about the only black character on screen hehhhhhh#like gege tried but lmfao#this is so funny to me#at least it didn’t drag on putting Miguel in an even more awkward situation than he already was and it was nipped in the bud quickly#Gojo isn’t one to dwell on things but when he’s face with new information and is taught something he does try to reflect and do better and#I’m sure he probably started to become even more aware of what he’s saying especially when talking to Miguel in an honest way since that’s#always been the kind of character who he was despite the horrors#the only ppl who’ve been kinda annoying about this are nbs and white people as always 🗿

im so mad that I can't find my post about how none of the wheely time protagonists (OR antagonists) seem to have genuine relationships with each other or truly care about each other or are even friends because apparently that dissonance translated into the show as well. see this excerpt from the vulture's episode three review
No sooner are our heroes split up in that shadow city in the last episode than they wind up in three completely different landscapes, facing completely different threats and encountering completely different allies. What it lacks in recognizable human emotions and drives, it makes up for — or tries to, anyway — in sheer storytelling scope. Will this ploy be successful? Only (the Wheel of) time will tell.
this is so funny. even the vastly modified adaptation couldn't save this story from it's atrocious character relationship writing. and this isn't even the only review to say 'the dynamics between these characters make no sense and this isn't how people act" it's just the only one I could remember
