Ri’s brain feels like it’s stalled out when she feels Frankie pull her in and kiss her. It’s like she’s frozen, too shocked to do anything. Because Frankie Finnegan is kissing her. Finally. After years of being the neighborhood’s personal will-they-won’t-they story, he’s made a move. She registers that he’s talking, saying something about really only meaning to walk her home but something just came over him, and it’s all she can do to just stare at him in shock. “You kissed me,” she says before chuckling, not unkindly but in surprise. “You actually kissed me,” she adds, grinning up at him.

The laughter was a little unexpected but the somewhat dazed look on her face was even more so. “I did,” he agrees, nodding. “Uh... was that.. I mean are we...” Frankie pauses. He clears his throat and looks down at his shoes before looking back up at her hopefully. “That was okay right? I probably should have asked first, but, well. I just... really wanted to kiss you. I have for a while now,” he admits, giving her a soft smile.

someone probably said this already but in spiderverse i think it's interesting how when pavitr was first introduced everyone thought something bad was gonna happen to him bc of how confident and optimistic he was. and then in the actual movie we see that something bad was supposed to happen to him (police chief dying!) but it doesn't! miles stops it! and miguel berates miles for this, says it's going to cause the universe to collapse or whatever.

there's this idea that tragedy is inherent to spidermans growth, and while it's true that some spiderpeople learn important lessons through loss, no one stops to ask, is it really necessary? yeah, maybe the chief was supposed to die. but why does spiderman have to be formed through tragedy? why do we (as heroes) have to let people die? pavitr didn't lose anyone, and he's still a good spiderman! maybe, if he doesn't suffer, he'll end up better off for it!

so while miguel is arguing for all this big picture stuff about saving the multiverse he's lost sight of what it really means to be a spiderman, he's not looking out for the real individual people. yeah it's just one person who would die, but that one person means something to someone. shrugging and saying "stuff just sucks sometimes, we can't do anything about it" is the opposite of what superheroes do. pretty obviously, miles arc is also a reflection of the struggles people face in real life, working within unequal systems, where it's easy to shrug and say "that's just the way it is" and not ask "but why does it need be this way? can't we do something about it?"

miguel is arguing that you can't have your cake and eat it too. presumably, miles and co. are going to find a way to get around that and change things for the better (and maybe that's why miles has that line about two cakes in the advisors office!)

Holy cow there’re a lot and I really do mean A LOT of Welcome Home AUs, and more coming too. Not saying it’s a bad thing, but it makes sense considering WH doesn’t have a lot to work with so it leaves tons of room for fans to play around with. I just hope it doesn’t get outta hand like what happened to Undertale with its AUs.

People are free to have creative liberty on what aus they wanna make- like you said there is very little canon content to munch on so people will pull a “fine I’ll do it myself” JCHFHDHU-

Hi! I'm working on a large stats project about the colour coding of superheros in a/b/o fics, and someone pointed me in the direction of BL as a possible similarity. You've written a Iot of cool stuff about BL symbolisms before, so I thought I'd reach out in case you have any insight.

I admit, I know next to nothing about BL, and while I do know the terms seme/uke have gone out of fashion, have you noticed any particular colour coding of characters in similar dynamics? In superhero a/b/o, for example, those in yellow, orange, or metalics are more likely to be alphas, where as those in brown, purple, and pink, are more likely to be omegas.

No pressure to reply, but if you have any thoughts (or know where to find some), I'd love to hear it!
