Listen I’m all for more trans and otherwise gender divergent characters in dc comics but Kon didn’t want people to call him Superboy because he viewed himself as SuperMAN. He wanted agency and control over his own life through the means of emancipation from the authorities attempting to control him and his growth was learning to both allow himself to be a kid and to mature mentally.

How long do you think it took for Ganondorf to be captured and set to be executed after Link snitched on him, because he looks a LOT older than he was in OoT by the time of his execution in TP.

Did he just run to the desert to gather his forces before all of that or what?

So I have.... pretty extensive headcanons about that, but yeah basically I think he did manage to run away from Hyrule Castle, retreat in the Desert, and then waged war for a couple of years before being captured, tried and executed.

It's my HC at least, because first of all it would support the whole "him on his horse while surrounded by fire" thing the Sages introduce in TP, and it would also make the hylians less monstrous? I mean, I'm not putting it past them to take the word of a 10 year old and execute a man for crimes he has yet to commit (mostly, not forgetting about the Deku Tree, Jabu Jabu and the gorons), but I think the whole process of his death looking so ritualized seems to me like he proved himself a big enough threat that they needed to get drastic in his murder as well.

I think it's always hard to take his appearance as a cue for his age, because it's sooo open to interpretation that it's hard to say for sure. There are people who think his young model looks like he's 20, others think he's 40, and then Ganon in WW is hundreds of years old, and in TP he is basically a ghost-man?? He changes so much that I think it's hard to use anything as a baseline. But yeah, at least the hair grew back! That's something! So I would assume he ran around for at least a couple of years before the execution (and if he looks older than OoT even 7 years later than his first appearance, this version doesn't have the Triforce and, I would argue, have faced much more strife, war and trauma than his OoT counterpart. The skin care routine may have suffered as a result u_u)

i'm deleting the original of this post because i simply cannot get 500 messages a day saying whether people do or don't have alerts in their area. It was interesting at first, but after almost two weeks of it, it's no longer contributing to the conversation. We've established that some people are getting alerts in some parts of North America and some people aren't. That wasn't the point of this post. _____________________

the reason there are no actual phone alerts for the air quality in Canada and parts of the US right now is because the government doesn't want to freak people out. This is what I've taken to calling New Normal Syndrome Return to Normal Syndrome — when people don't want to acknowledge that the worst air quality on record, or an ongoing global pandemic is cause for alarm and appropriate protective measures.

Return to Normal Syndrome has also affected the folks pretending it's "Normal" (or not a form of child abuse??) to take their kids out in a level 11 air quality warning without any respiratory protection before kids can comprehend the damage that will do to their lungs.

People with Return to Normal Syndrome can wear blinders as much as they want, they can cling to "Normal" with their fingertips, but it's not going to make it true. We're living in a global pandemic, in a climate crisis, and this is not sustainable.

We don't need to adjust to "the New Normal," we need to take appropriate steps to fix it and mitigate the damage that it's causing, at least within our own families and communities to start.

warning this might be a nothing post i'm just a little emotional & rambling but like... i think a lot about hometown showdown and gay and not proud a lot. and i understand this was in the peak of YouTube's fuckery with Dan and disrupting his plans for DINOK so i understand there's like a tension behind a lot of what was ongoing. i also realize that YouTube-- more obviously with hometown showdown-- but generally had strong business rationale for wanting Phil to feature in these videos, with Dan & Phil being the duo of HS and Phil being there in gay and not proud (sorry the acronym for this looks ugly).

but man... i think a lot about how hometown showdown was just kind of a lot of dates. i've not seen the other ones but i hear a lot that they were way more competitive versus Dan and Phil were just casually exploring their hometowns together, showing pieces of themselves to the other. i think about all the dialogue that was cut (that I think was alluded to in WDAPTEO 2?)

and i think about like. the seismic Importance of Phil being in gay and not proud as like... Dan's safe space. the same way he's remote crisis manager, the same way he was part of WAD's pre & post show, the same way he filmed that haircut video basically to promo YWGTTN and Dan is leaving me to talk about WAD. the same way that Dan got a taxi to his place after his nightmare experience at the laundromat to do laundry because "for the first time since I was a tiny child, I actually felt safe."

and after the latest mukbang it's like... it's really insane to me how their personal relationship has continued despite the pressures they've faced as being a comedic influencer duo. the fact that they work as business partners but still have this relationship. the fact that even in these YouTube originals that Dan was resentful of at the time anyway you can still glowingly see how much they love each other. like Phil being in gay and not proud wasn't a cameo, it was a fucking love confession.

i dunno. this is something that's been talked about a Lot but i do think about it frequently. i don't tend to rewatch these specials a lot because Jesus Christ the editing really gets me, but like... idk. "you're next to me in my life," or whatever. 15 years have passed and Phil's still cheerleading for Dan, from his first YouTube video to his first solo tour. i dunno.
