Kevin is always a spectacle, always dehumanised in some way. The prophet, the spokesperson of strex, the boy. What he is has always been seen as more important than WHO he is in every era, even as the voice of his town, thereâs an element of what he can do for others being more important than who he is himself. He is a radio host, a performer, and oh boy does he perform. Year after year, no matter what heâs doing, he canât escape being a spectacle, until the only way he knows how to seek self discovery and help is by turning up the radio station in night vale as a child and speak to the town he doesnât even have connection to (as much as his own, he does have links to it obviously).
This man is always for someoneâs gaze, when he was strexâs spokesperson it was more hammered home, no free will and being forced to represent propaganda, and even when heâs escaped that he canât find comfort in anything else! In mudstone abyss he latches onto his religious power because the need for safety represents itself through his learned need for control and, not unnoticeably, his need to be a spectacle.
Of course people can just like attention and Iâm not disputing that, but he is rarely given attention as a person (except like. By Charles and Donovan who are his family. And by Lauren I believe, who may not like him but she sure does see him as a person. Just the worst one sheâs ever had the displeasure of being near. She also loves him. He loves her, I donât care what you say to me.) so he goes to what heâs USED to! Being a symbol, being dehumanised and seen for an ideology, whether it was community pre strex, strexcorp, or religious power, and more recently, heâs the boy. The boy was a mystery and now yet again a symbol for night vales fear (as a figure for nv to project their fear and confusion onto)
KEVIN CANNOT ESCAPE PERFORMANCE. HE CANNOT HELP BEING A SPECTACLE. SOMEONE SHOOT ME

haikyuu boys and tropes that suit them!
includes: kageyama tobio, iwaizumi hajime, oikawa tĹru, sakusa kiyoomi, miya osamu, miya atsumu, suna rintarĹ
(possibly part 1??? consider this an apology for not posting as much đ)
kageyama tobio â practice kissing.Â
kageyama is, as embarrassing as it is for him to admit this, inexperienced, greatly so. heâs in his third year of high school, 18, and is yet to have his first kiss. college is approaching him dauntingly quick, and he doesnât think he can handle being as clueless as he is for any longer. so while youâre sat on his bed scrolling through his phone, he bluntly asks you if youâve ever kissed someone. he seemed so confident, and the words were straightforward and lacked any sign of anxiety or uneasiness. but the moment they left his mouth, heâs red in the face and his hands are shaking. when you agree to help him practice, heâs scared, shy, flustered, and his heart is in his throat, but he lets you lead the, setting the pace yourself as you sit before him, his face in your hands, pulling him closer to you. itâs electrifying, to put it to the least. heâd heard a million horror stories from his upperclassmen about first kisses, but he finds himself unable to relate. everything about the kiss and you is perfect, and he asks for more practice, starts looking forward to theses âsessions.â he starts growing more and more confident, until heâs the one flustering you, the one making you gasp and squirm and mewl, not the other way around. and maybe heâll find it in him to confess. maybe.Â
iwaizumi hajime â friends to lovers.Â
in general, with iwaizumi, he has a hard time believing in that heâs meant for a relationship, in that he has his own person, and for many reasons. he tries to be rational about it, saying he has other priorities at the moment, that he wonât be able to give his all, that heâs not particularly ready or in the right headspace/situation to commit to a person and a relationship. but itâs also, deep down, because of this indescribable fear of not being enough, of his flaws being too much, of being too imperfect. he just chooses not to get a headache over it, honestly. thatâs why friends to lovers is perfect for him. itâs this person who heâs known for a long time, someone heâs come to know so well, so deeply, and vice versa. theyâve seen the bad and good of each other, been through all the ups and downs, learnt all their quirks, their habits, their tendencies. this is someone who is already a priority, someone who is already a constant. of course, he still hurts his head thinking about how wrong it is to have feelings for his friend, and the shame and guilt eats at him from the inside out. but itâs just soâ easy. to love them. itâs so, so easy, as easy as breathing. and iwaizumi spends such a large amount of time pining and yearning that the final straw, the snap, the breathless confession, is so satisfying.Â
oikawa tĹru â enemies to lovers.Â
oikawa wants and needs someone thatâll both keep him on his toes, always pushing him to the very edge but not completely over. he needs someone that excites him, someone that he has to work to earn. the word enemies is blurry to him. all he sees is someone playing hard to get, and he takes it as a challenge. itâs not that he wants and needs everyone to be in love with him and how dare you not be swooning at the sight of me!! itâs more that this person intrigues him impossibly. this person challenges him, bites back, and bites back hard. and the transition from enemies to lovers is so smooth with him, because itâs unpredictable and unexpected. one moment youâre swearing at him across the hall, the next youâre tenderly massaging at his injured knee and reassuring him of his hard work and efforts. itâs beautiful, really. the snarky comments and the flirty comebacks and the glares returned with playful grins, and them the moment of realization that opens up a whole new door that this person isnât so bad after all. the satisfaction of finally giving in, either so slowly, so carefully and timidly, or rushed, hurried and desperate. so good.Â
sakusa kiyoomi â there was only one bed!Â
sakusa does not share. itâs nothing personal (sometimes it is), but he just prefers to have his own private space, where he can be comfortable. but things happen! like a trip where youâre stuck in the same room! and thereâs only one bed! and the person youâre stuck with is the same person youâre very confused in regards to your feelings about them! the trip is a couple of days, and so it starts with the offer to sleep on the couch. itâs very uncomfortable, but he does it anyways, because a) heâs a gentleman, and b) you both now each have your private, safe space. two days pass, and you both tiredly pass out on the bed next to one another. he wakes up before you in horror and falls onto the couch quickly, but he doesnât fall asleep again. as if this were fateâs play, you find yourself unable to sleep, and neither can he, so you quietly scoot over, a silent invitation. reluctantly, he accepts. he doesnât spend that night sleeping either, instead simply stares at you, his hand outreaching for you, but not quite touching. eventually comes a day when he wakes up with your face buried in his shoulder, and although his cheeks are as warm as ever, he doesnât feel uncomfortable. he only feels grateful to be finally touching you.Â
miya osamu â soft only for their lover.Â
itâs not that osamu is rude to others, or hates everyone else, or anything along those lines. itâs more that heâs less likely to open up, be vulnerable, be softer, easier than compared to with his partner. with his lover, he smiles easier, expressions are readable, his eyes always a dead giveaway to whatâs on his mind. heâs colder and less approachable to others, but itâs almost as if his resolve melts the moment he spots his lover. he could be yelling at someone, angrily, then turn to his partner and in the softest voice say, âjust a moment, my love,â and go back to yelling as if it were completely normal. similarly, he will always take his loverâs side of the argument regardless of whether theyâre right or wrong. and, heâll be kissing his lover, but pause for a moment to deck his brother, then return to kissing his lover again even softer. itâs because his lover owns such a big part of his heart, and when osamu loves, he loves with every part of him. heâs been called out on it multiple times; the fact that heâs so much meaner and harsher and stubborn with everyone else, including his brother, but itâs always the opposite with you. you are his soft spot, really, and it tickles your tummy whenever you notice the little changes and shifts in his attitude and personality when it comes to you.Â
miya atsumu â enemies to lovers.Â
unlike with oikawaâs case, you and atsumu genuinely hate each other. you despise his attitude, his cockiness, his ideals, his approaches, his voice, his hair, everything, and likewise, he canât stand you. heâd only ever been rude to you, and in response, youâd defended yourself by being equally as rude. this isnât playing hard to get enemies, this is i hate your guts enemies. rarely does being in a room with him not result in some sort of argument. your mutual friends are all fed up, of the arguments, the fighting, the smack talk behind one anotherâs backs, the complaining, everything. itâs infuriating, and so they beg you to talk it out, to try and resolve whatever it was going on between you, but either he wouldnât cooperate, or you wouldnât. it seemed hopeless, until at some point in time, you get badly hurt, maybe mentally or physically, but atsumu finds himself worried unbelievably. itâs irrational to be, especially with your history with one another. but heâs worried, insanely so, and when he finds you, finds out youâre okay, or you will be, the relief that fills him is dizzying and so, scary. but maybe the both of you were just projecting onto each other, the fact that you so badly wanted each other but felt like you couldnât do anything.Â
suna rintarĹÂ â brotherâs best friend.Â
itâs a dash of forbidden love, a dash of friends to lovers. heâs your brotherâs best friend, older than you, and itâs wrong, you know it is, but you canât help it. on the days heâs invited over, you purposely make sure to stay at home, and you make excuses to pass by your brotherâs room constantly, to talk to him. he knows you like him, knows youâre desperately chasing after him in your own subtle way, and for a while, suna lets you. he acts dumb, none the wiser, lets you have your little fun of sneaking snaps of him to send to your friends and when you purposely press your leg against his sitting next to him on the couch or when you offer your lollipop after you suck on it. he indulges you, slightly, subtly. and when he sees it suitable, finds it right, he starts to return the advances: he accidentally arrives a little earlier than planned to your home when heâs invited, and he passed by you in school more often, and he makes up excuses to text you all the time. eventually, the sexual tension is unbearable, suffocating, incredibly overwhelming, and when it snaps, nothing else matters. just the two of you. heâs experienced, good with his words and his hands and his mouth and heâs a dream. and all you do is fall deeper, and deeper, and deeper.Â

1K Followers Celebration Q&A, Part 1 đ
Hey guys! First of all, I'm sorry for not being too active on Tumblr lately. I've been pretty busy spending my break setting up various stuff for "Vendetta" as listed on my checklist and answering all these QnA questions.
Without further ado, here are all the questions and answers for the 1K Followers Celebration Q&A! This is Part 1 (I gotta split them into parts because it'll be too long if I kept them all in one post)
ăViktor, in your opinion, which ending would you want your child to choose? Vigilante, hero, heir?? Also, if you've seen both of the funerals, how did it make you feel?ă
Viktor: "IâI honestly don't know. I just want my child to be safe and among those three choices... I would want them to be the heir, I guess. It'll be easier for Luka, my father, and Ash to protect them. Being a vigilante or a hero is too dangerous. They'd have to fight dangerous people and criminals, most of which are powered as well, and they may attract the attention of the wrong people.
As for the funerals... They're... horrible. I want to be there so badly, to say a final goodbye to my family and close friends, console them, make final amends with my father, and tell all of them to just let it go rather than keep hurting by holding on. But most of all, I want to hold my child one last time. To see them so clearly hurt... and I can't do anything about it... It just hurt. I'm glad Luka comforted them and is taking care of them."
ăFor Yvette: Do you actually love your child?ă
Yvette: "OâOf course, I do! What kind of question is that? I care for them, okay? Even if I hadn't met them in years..." Yvette fidgets in her seat. "Next question, please."
ăRin, would you have any interest in MC if they weren't part of the Morozov family?ă
Rin is silent for a moment.
Rin: âIf they were not a part of the Morozov Family, then there was little to no chance of us ever meeting each other anyway. So, thatâs a moot point.â Their voice is stiffer than usual.
ăFor Viktor and Yvette: given the chance, whatâs one thing you would say to your child right now if you had the chance?ă
Viktor: "I love you so much, my little sunshine. Please, don't be sad or angry anymore. I don't want you to avenge me or find me justice. I want you to enjoy your life to the fullest, find someone to love and maybe start a family with, and spend time with all the people in your life. And remember, to always take care of yourself and I'll always be proud of you, no matter what."
Viktor is silent for a second before shaking his head lightly. "I'm sorry, I know you said one thing... But, I just have so many things to say to them..."
Yvette: "I'm so sorry, baby. Please, give me another chance and I'll prove how much I meant that and how much I want to be in your life. After all, it's better late than never, right?"
ăFor Yvette: How was Viktor's personality? And why did you fall for him?ă
Yvette sighs dreamily, a light blush spreading on her cheeks.
Yvette: "Where to start? He was a true gentleman and always tried to protect me in fights... Even to the point of taking hits that were meant for me... He was also really charming and also funny at times. Can get really teasing and flirtatious, but was really loyal once he was committed in a relationship with me. Just between you and me, I think he was a true hopeless romantic!"
ăAsh & Rin if they could change their power to anything of their choosing, what would it be and why? Thank you <3ă
Rin: âHmm⌠I love my precognition and it really helps me so far. I wouldnât want to change it to anything else.â
Ash: âCâmon, you party pooper, just imagine for a second!â
Rin: âHow about you start first, then?â
Ash: âGladly! I think MCâs umbrakinesis is pretty cool and flexible. Shadows are everywhere in almost every moment of the day. Also, it can be really intimidating and destructive as well. I would love to have a power like that.â
Rin: âFine... If I have to⌠I think telepathy would be pretty useful. To be able to hear what the other person is thinking and planning, or even to influence them subtly... Although, the constant chatter of other peopleâs thoughts would be annoyingâŚâ

how did tubbo and ranboo meet and get engaged in your bet on the crown au?
FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS EARLIER TODAY-
also iâm so so sorry but this spiraled out of my control itâs really long but it does have the full story of how Rambo and Tubbo met and got engaged and probably way more!!
tw: descriptions of violence and minor mouthplay ig
Ok so iâve mentioned that Ranboo met Tubbo when he saved his life, and Tubbo partnered his country with Ranbooâs as a thank you. I also mentioned that Endermen and Fae have a really bad history with each other.
All in all, Tubbo hated Ranboo when they first met.
This was back when Tubbo was crowned official prince of Snowchester, so he didnât fully comprehend how much of a target it would put on his back at first. Therefore, when he was jumped by a couple of Endermen, he didnât see it coming, and was quickly injured very badly. One of his wings got bent, so he couldnât fly properly, and they managed to crack a few of his ribs before Tubbo stopped fighting as hard. He couldnât focus on using his magic as well through the pain, so they manage to steal him back to their camp that they set up in a little tent in Enderia (not an uncommon sight since Enderia has a large community marketplace [think of a more gothic Agrabah from Aladdin]) and try to start the arduous process of killing a fae for their magic. Tubbo is pretty helpless as they begin to draw blood and mix the rest of the ingredients for whatever potion they were trying to make. It doesnât work, and Tubbo sits slowly dying from blood loss as they fail to make the potion right over and over and just keep drawing more and more blood. Eventually one of the Endermen just gives up and tries to eat him, but thank god Ranboo has good timing.
Tubbo had just been placed in the kidnapperâs mouth when Ranboo walks in to the dinky tent that was set up assuming that it was a shop, but was mortified to see that green glow coming from the other Endermanâs mouth. He quickly knocks out both of the kidnappers and rescues Tubbo, who is barely hanging onto consciousness. Plus side of being in a drug tent though is that there are potions and magic healing aids everywhere, and Ranboo quickly helps get Tubbo everything he needs. By the end of it, Tubbo is fully awake again and in much less pain. Ranboo has wrapped his wing since the healing pots didnât do much for that, and wrapped his chest just to be sure. (i have a funky little doodled comic of Ranboo being a simp in this moment when Tubbo takes of his spit-soaked vest and Ranbooâs just basically the âoh no heâs hit memeâ iâll post it later)
Ranboo wants to take Tubbo back to Showchester, but Tubbo refuses. He knows how much itâll scare his citizens and he doesnât want an Enderman knowing where he lives anyway. So he begrudgingly agrees that it would be best for him to spend the night in Enderia, since he canât fly home with a busted wing, and it should only take a few days to heal with all the healing shit they did to it earlier.
Only when Ranboo gets back does Tubbo realize heâs a prince, cause holy fuck that castle is big. Tubbo asks why Ranboo didnât say anything earlier, and Ranboo confesses that he just doesnât like being treated like over the top royalty. He wanted to take Tubbo back to snowchester because 1. heâd be more comfortable there and 2. he wouldnât have to reveal himself as a prince. He then asks why a prince was looking through public shops when heâs obviously very rich judging by the palace. They just say they like to give back to their citizens.
The next few days donât goâŚperfectly. Tubbo refuses to let Ranboo tell anyone that heâs in the castle; heâs terrified of Endermen now. Ranboo he can kind of excuse cause he saved his life, but he still doesnât like the guy.
Meanwhile, Ranboo is kind of smothering Tubbo. Theyâve been really worried about him, to the point of almost treating him like a toddler cause of his small size. Theyre driving him crazy. At some point, Tubbo just snaps and blows up (literally, given that he has explosive powers) at Ranboo, yelling that heâs not a kid and shouldnât be treated like one. Heâs almost 17, he leads a country, heâs faced much, much worse than this minor injury because he built a country at 15 and was its lead General until he became the prince.
This is when Ranboo learns 3 things: Tubbo is about the same age as him if not a bit older, Tubbo is also a prince apparently (and he was yelling at Ranboo about hiding his title like a hypocrite), and Tubbo probably has a lot of undiagnosed and mostly ignored mental issues. After all, if he went through things more traumatic than a kidnapping and near death experience as a 15 year old, thereâs no way he was ok, especially not judging from the scars that Ranboo could see and whatever he couldnât. And if he was a prince, that meant there was a good chance he was shouldering it alone. Ranboo would know.
He treats Tubbo a lot more maturely after that, which Tubbo appreciates. He does end up getting well enough to fly back to Snowchester, but heâs only there for a few days before gossips start to explode. The Endermen prince had issued a formal apology to the Fae as a whole, but in specific to the kingdom of Snowchester for the harm of their prince. He made it very clear that nothing like what happened to him should happen to anyone, royalty or not. He also stated that the two men who kidnapped Tubbo were behind bars, as they will be for the rest of their lives for kidnapping, illegal substances found in the tent, trying to murder a prince and, somehow most controversially, attempted murder.
The Fae were confused but mostly hopeful for this, thinking that maybe it could be the start of a less violent relationship with Enderia, but a lot of the more bigoted Endermen where furious that Ranboo punished the men with the same ruling that someone who tried to kill a fellow Endermen would get, but Ranboo stood his ground. In fact, he created a new law stating that no one should refuse someone of something for their size or species, and acts of violence and harm against Fae will result in severe punishment no matter the severity of the injury to the Fae. He led protests against the people in his city who didnât agree with this, and helped try to change their mind.
Tubbo saw it all. He kept up to date with what Ranboo was doing, and was shocked to say the least. He didnât know that Ranboo would fight so hard for his people, for him. This all stemmed because Ranboo saw him get kidnapped. It happened all the time to fae, he assumed Ranboo knew that. He assumed that Ranboo only cared so much about him getting better because he was a prince, not just because he was a person. He didnât even do all this when he was there! He waited until he was safe and home before starting a riot, but all that really showed Tubbo was that Ranboo meant it all. This wasnât some publicity thing, it wasnât an attempt to make Tubbo like him or something, it was all genuine. Ranboo, as the prince of a species that has targeted and murder his species for centuries, was helping fae more than Tubbo even knew he could.
Thatâs when Tubbo reached out to Ranboo several months after the rescue and they partnered kingdoms, Tubboâs still slightly lingering fear of Endermen be damned.
As you can probably imagine, not everyone loves this. A lot of Fae are furious and donât think anyone in Enderia is trustworthy, some even going far enough to leave fully and move to a different fae kingdom. The Endermen are slightly more accepting, surprisingly. While there are the few that still actively see fae as nothing more than potion ingredients, a lot are just neutral towards them. And there are literally no other kingdoms for Endermen, so they canât move out, and Ranboo hasnât failed them yet, so what do they have to lose?
After the deal is sealed officially, Tubbo and Ranboo meet up a lot more often. Showchester isnât too far from Enderia, so Ranboo can kind of just teleport in bursts to get there, but Tubbo actually canât fly there since itâs too far and when the winter weather is too bad he canât fly in general. I mentioned that Faes are especially good with animals and can communicate with them somewhat, so Ranboo gets Tubbo some sort of animal to help him get to Enderia faster (i havenât decide what yet o just thought this idea was cute).
Anyway, Tubbo starts to see a new side of Ranboo. Heâs constantly working, he never prioritizes himself, and heâs got some really unhealthy workaholic habits. Endermen are traditionally a very strict species, and Fae are very playful and kinda immature. The Endermen learned to always be on edge from their days of hating each other, and Faes have always had a really strong defense system, so they could afford to be more lax.
Anyway, Tubbo starts to realize that as much as he knows how stressful it is to be a prince, he sees why Ranboo snuck out so many nights ago when they met just to see the marketplace and try to be normal. Ranboo is making himself suffer without even realizing it. So Tubbo begins to try and teach Ranboo how to be a teenager again.
They spend more time together, start to enjoy each otherâs company more and more. They stop talking just politics and begin to tell each other more personal things, and the other understands. Theyâre the first people who can understand each otherâs stressors and problems. Theyâre happier than theyâve ever been since they met, and Ranboo one day asks if Tubbo had ever been interested in anyone. He wasnât being subtle, and anyone with any brain cells would have known what that question implied, but Tubbo had never been flirted with or been asked anything like that before, so he didnât pick up anything.
He doesnât really know how to answer. Some people in his kingdom had tried a to arrange a few marriages, all very nice girls, but he was never interested in them. Ranboo hasnât had that problem, Enderia was just chill with letting him be him and not forcing him to marry, but he asks if Tubboâs problem with the marriage was the idea of an arrangement or maybeâŚif it was the fact that they had only arranged them with women?
Thatâs what it takes for Tubbo to realize that he was gay. He just assumed that since he didnât like those girls, he didnât like anyone. He didnât know what it felt like to have a crush, he had never thought to distinguish friendship and love. He always thought it was normal to want to have more intimate friendships with your own gender, he never thought of those as crushes, and he still doesnât know if they were. Itâs taken him 17 years.
Ranboo kinda senses that Tubbo is having an identity crisis and gives his two cents. Ranboo, as with all of their issues, knows exactly how he feels. He himself had apparently had plenty of issues with himself as well, eventually realizing that he was gay and wasnât even fully a guy. Endermen have a weird sense of gender, and theyâre all very androgynous in the sense that itâs hard to tell girls and boys apart to anyone who isnât an enderman, but even then, they still have genders. Ranboo eventually realized that he didnât like just using him, and felt like âtheyâ described him just as well, and even with those pronouns, he prefers to dress femininely, his subjects affectionately giving him the nickname âgenderman.â
This makes Tubbo feel a lot better. He doesnât know many gay people, but the ones he knows didnât seem to ever have issues figuring themselves out. He thought he knew himself better than anyone, but Ranboo seems to know him just as well. He also didnât know how he couldnât have realized it earlier, or why it was so easy to accept nowâŚ
Heâs all the way back in Snowchester and ready to fall asleep when he realizes that heâs in and has been in love with Ranboo for quite some time now, as if the night hadnât been confusing enough.
He didnât know when it had happened, or how, or why, but now that he actually thought about it, he couldnât he couldnât get the thought out of his head. God, he loved him, what was he supposed to do with that information? Yeah, they were business partners, friends, hell, best friends, at this point, and that was still probably an understatement, and theyâd known each other for a few months, but why would an insanely rich and politically powerful prince of an entire species want a tiny fae for a boyfriend, or eventual spouse? What would he have to gain from loving Tubbo? Nothing. Thatâs what. He already had protection and trades from his country, but Tubno himself? He was useless. He couldnât give Ranboo much physical affection, he wasnât stupidly rich, he didnt even know how his culture and shit worked because he wasnât an Enderman! What was he thinking going and falling in love with someone who could never and would never love him back.
Tubbo becomes a bit more dejected the next times they meet, and Ranboo notifies immediately. He tried to pry it out of Tubbo, but he keep coming up with more and more excuses. Some days are better than others, Tubbi acting almost normal again before plummeting back down a few days later, but thereâs never been a plausible excuse. However, Ranboo knows what the stress of leading a country can do. He canât pry too much out of Tubbo cause he knows he would hate having personal problems pried out of him. Eventually, after a few weeks, Ranboo gives up and basically tells Tubbo that he knows heâs been making excuses, and that whatever it is, he can tell them.
So, Tubbo does, kinda. He tells them how as much as he appreciates Ranboo helping him figure himself out, he had never worried about relationships, he was never fixated on any sort of romance. He just existed by himself, and he was ok with that until he met âsomeoneâ who he wanted to be around. Someone who thought like him, understood him, someone who he knew he could spend the rest of his life with and never stop being happy around. But he didnât have anything to give to that person, they were far enough out of his league that they might as well have been on a different planet, and it could never work. He didnât want anything to change between them because they meant more to him than anyone, and he didnât know what heâd do without them. Tubbo at this point is almost in tears, and Ranboo listens to and processes everything being said to him. Then he does something Tubbo never would have expected and gets down on one knee.
Ranboo basically confessed that heâd been in love with Tubbo since they met. Heâd never met another fae, but heâd never met someone like him. Endermen believe in soulmates a lot, they believe that at some point in their life their god will lead them to the person they were meant to be with, and there was never any doubt in Ranbooâs mind that Tubbo was that person. He never acted on it, since he knew their speciesâ history and especially how scared Tubbo was of endermen for a while after the circumstances of how they met, but heâs part of why Ranboo started making more laws to protect fae. He loved Tubbo, and if any other faes were like him, they didnât deserve to be slaughtered. Besides, now that he saw how many innocent fae could be hurt by his people without him even realizing, he felt the need to make up for it.
After the kingdoms combined, Ranboo started dropping a lot of hints that they were into Tubbo, but they didnât know if he either never caught on or just ignored them. They eventually just asked about his sexuality because they honest to god just didnât know how else to imply that they wanted a relationship with him. But, even if Tubbo was trying to be subtle, heâs told Ranboo enough times that he didnât have many other friends, so they could assume he was talking about them easy enough.
Tubbo was floored, happy beyond belief and in disbelief that this was even happening, but he hesitated. He asked Ranboo why heâd ever want someone like him. Ranboo asks him why he shouldnât, whichâŚisnât something Tubbo really thought about. Ranboo puts the final nails in the coffin when he asks why he would care at all about size or species when Tubbo is the strongest, kindest, funniest person heâs ever met. Why should physical things like those stop him from wanting to be around the person he loved for the rest of his life? He doesnât need anything from Tubbo, he just needs him. All he wants is him.
Tubbo breaks down in tears of pure joy and agrees to marry him, Ranboo beginning to cry too before Tubbo yells at him for burning his cheeks. The two of them spend the rest of the night just talking and laughing, Tubbo too caught up in the glee of being engaged and finally having the stress of âone sidedâ love off his chest and Rambo absolutely over the moon that the man he had actually confessed to and was now actually engaged to the man he loved.
The ceremony is a bit of a mess, given that neither of them had many family members or close friends, and trying to mix the marriage traditions of two very very different cultures was actually kind of laughable, but it was the best day of both Tubbo and Ranboosâ lives. They commissioned and designed the otherâs wedding rings, deciding that gold bands were too normal, so they made rings that they thought encapsulated themselves, so the other could wear the ring and think of them whenever they had to be apart for prince business, even if Tubbo was going to move into Ranbooâs castle with him. Tubbo wears a dark silver ring with a gorgeous purple, even slightly glowing rare circular gem that could only be found in Enderia with accents of small black and white gems. Ranboo wears a gold ring with a honeycomb-like pattern etched into the banding and a rectangular gemstone hybrid of a few somewhat common crystals thatâs swirled into green and brown, with a more defined and detailed edging around the stone itself.
After Tubbo moved to Enderia, he did appoint a new general so there could be someone there in case he wasnt, a strong willed and courageous fae who had actually helped to train him in his destructive powers: a woman named Puffy. But Tubbo is still there a lot, since it is his kingdom and all, but theyâve also grown used to seeing Rambo about, too. Theyâve mostly gotten used to his giant size, and a few are chill just talking with him whenever heâs nearby. Ranbooâs happy that theyâre talking to him at all, but the fact that he can even call some of them friends is a tremendous accomplishment for him. His favorite random friend to talk to whenever he visits is a guy named Sneeg, who he may genuinely call up to put on a council someday cause he has someâŚinteresting ideas, certainly none that an enderman could think of.
All in all, the princes are very happy together. Itâs taken them a while to sort everything out, given that theyâre both 18-19 in the general story, but they love their new normal. They love having someone there for them, and, more than anything else, they love each other. Theyre still fairly newly wed, but hint hint yeah theyâre definitely soulmates lmao. Iâve briefly mentioned the gods of this au, but yeah there was definitely divine intervention (thereâs a or of that in this au) and those two were destined for each other lmao
#definitely not proofread btw#itâs so much longer than it needed to be iâm sorry#anyway c!beeduo takes over my bfain#and in case anyone want me to clarify this again i will: i DO NOT ship the ccs#cyncerity#mcyt g/t#mcyt gt#bet on the crown au#i love my boys so much#there will be so much more for this au iâm falling and keep adding more characters#anyways also anon#youâre psychic#i was thinking about this all day then you sent this ask and i think thatâs why itâs so long#cause i was thinking about it a lot and went through every little detail#so now you get all the detail yay suffer

Saimota is a fantastic ship that only improves with age and their respective maturity. Right from the get-go we see this in canon, too! They have a tumultuous first clash at the end of chapter 1 which is immediately turned on its head, and the subsequent growth and development of their in-game relationship really stands out that much more because of it.
This is a long one, so strap in!
Kaito realizes his mistake in his approach after punching him the night before and rectifies it immediately the next morning when he notices Shuichi hasnât come to breakfast, rightly guessing that heâs stewing in his own grief and misery. And then, being the emotionally intelligent guy he is, he follows up that night and drags him out to exercise (which, yâknow, releases endorphins and is scientifically proven to help with mood boosts and even depression) - a move which Shuichi says in chapter 5 saved his life.
A couple days pass and a body drops. Kaito supports him through the investigation knowing that Kaede had been with him last time and that thereâs a danger of him relapsing. In the trial, too, Kaito makes every effort to let Shuichi know that he isnât alone and someone does have his back if he fumbles. This is the real moment that Shuichi chooses to depend on Kaito and is rewarded for it, and while Kaito does get plenty of ego-feed out of it, he believes in Shuichi and his talent wholeheartedly (enough so that itâll come back to bite him later). But despite it being framed as a âhero and sidekickâ relationship, itâs not just for Kaitoâs self-worth - itâs to take some of the mental load off of Shuichi, who really, really doesnât want the pressure of everyoneâs lives solely on his shoulders, and is now dealing with the guilt of two cases where uncovering the guilty party hurt him.
(quick chapter 2 interlude! while this is where a lot of the big hero-worship begins for Shuichi and happens to be where I also did his first FTE and got to witness this:
this is also the chapter when these moments happen, post-breakfast and post-casino scene respectively:
and this happens in the very next FTE:
mmm yes, the duality of man. Suffice it to say, while Shuichi has definite rose-coloured glasses on for a lot of the game, Kaito is definitely not an invincible, untouchable hero in his eyes)
Interestingly enough, despite Shuichi still very much leaning into their friendship (and vice versa), they donât spend a lot of time together in Chapter 3 after he brings Maki out to training that first night! While Chapter 4 is their real âbreakâ, Kaito spends a lot of time in his room in the second half while Shuichi gets to know Maki better. And while Maki is a much, uh, meaner investigation partner (love you girl, but that tongue is sharp), they make a great team. Shuichi also starts poking at Kaitoâs reason for holing up in his room, incorrectly guess that itâs just related to the occult being brought up. Most importantly, Shuichi is able to do an investigation on his own independent of Kaito just a week after the end of Chapter 1.
Chapter 4 and its immediate aftermath in 5 is great because it showcases Kaitoâs flaws and insecurity, and what conflict between the two of them look like. Itâs because Kaito respects Shuichi so much that cracks in his own confidence start appearing - and while Shuichi can be obtuse and awkward at times, he shows signs of wanting to broach some more sensitive topics with Kaito; if you do FTEs with Kaito in Ch 4, he even has an inner narrative in which he notes that Kaito had said his stomach hurt before.
Heâs not so self-absorbed as to not worry about his friend (but narratively we gotta save that juicy plot point and subsequent reveal for the end of the trial) but hey, Kaito wants to chill and just shoot the shit - so why not have some downtime with his friend in the murder school. Btw, their FTE availability ends here - so if Shuichi has completed them with Kaito, heâs already had his canon-saimota thoughts at this point. While I have given Shuichi the side-eye for his âI can rely on Kaito for anythingâ spiel, he is fully able and willing to stand up to Kaito in the Chapter 4 trial despite his canon feelings for him at that point. By the way, itâs been a week and a half since the end of Chapter 1 at this point. Shuichi and Kaito have had an arc together where they become fast friends in a pressure-cooker situation and bonding over shared grief for Kaede (even if Kaitoâs is less obvious), Shuichi starts as dependent on Kaitoâs emotional support but learns to stand on his own two feet, and Kaito is forced to confront his own weakness and hero persona, all while classmates are dropping (including Kaitoâs own ex-hero figure, a stark reminder that âheroesâ do have flaws).
So the beginning of Chapter 5 is wild to me because of how itâs so often misinterpreted as Kaito immaturely giving Shuichi the silent treatment despite the entirety of the game preceding it explicitly showing that Kaito will tell you, loudly, when heâs angry at you, and thatâs purely because weâre in Shuichiâs perspective and he thinks thatâs whatâs going on - but thatâs a bit of a tangent. What I like about it is how we get to see what happens when Kaito (as sick as he is at that point) feels badly and embarrassed with someone he is close to; he withdraws as opposed to lashing out. And while Shuichi is really, really bad at reaching out too without an inciting incident (tunnel escape), he does try and broach the topic when push comes to shove. Heâs not lost in hero worship, not even close - he is rightfully upset that the person heâs closest to at the school is upset while still maintaining to himself and the others that his actions were correct. He doesnât waver on this, despite his attempt to offer an olive branch at the window of the hangarâs bathroom. He truly stands by his own choices in the last class trial and know he won't back down on that if push comes to shove, and that's important - he won't yield the point just to appease Kaito. Shuichi then manages the investigation on his own, leads the trial on his own, faces off with Maki (and who he thinks is Kokichi) on his own, because he has *reached* a point where he can be independent. And to bring it back to how we get a look at âsaimota in conflictâ, Shuichi and Kaito both make amends with each other by the end of the chapter. Even if itâs spurred by it being their final goodbye, Shuichi gets to say his piece, Kaito lays out one of his own vulnerabilities so he can make peace with Shuichi - and even if Iâd love to have had them delve into all of Kaito's various issues, there is a very murderous robobear overseeing this which makes time a factor - and I firmly believe that if they had more time, they couldâve resolved even more of the issues that would come up for Saimota. The groundwork wasnât just there; there was already half the structure in place. And thatâs what makes saimota even more appealing to me, tbh. We get to see them build a relationship, run into a big issue, struggle through it and resolve it by the end of the game - and it means that thereâs precedent for them to do it again as more interpersonal challenges come up! Itâs a goldmine of ship exploration, and they care about each other enough to work through it.
⌠By the way, at this point they are 2 weeks past the end of Chapter 1.
Imagine if they had more time. Imagine if Shuichi, who is absolutely dogged in pursuing an issue once he catches wind of it (despite how he can get wrapped up in his own head), who cares a lot for other people, who doesnât just find runaways as part of his detective talent, but follows up with them after because he cares about more than just finishing the job, had the chance to spend years with Kaito and realize he uses his hero persona to protect a much more fragile sense of self. Imagine Shuichi forming that initial friendship with Kaito without the albatross of Kaedeâs death hanging around his neck; about how heâll still look up to Kaito and his fantastic positivity, passion and excellence in his chosen field, and that would only be matched by Kaitoâs own admiration of Shuichiâs skills as a detective. Imagine if Kaito, who repeatedly shows the ability to reflect and change his mind when presented with evidence against his viewpoint and was able to express his own insecurity and jealousy to Shuichi in the end, was given the breathing room and space to get more comfortable with doing so. Imagine how difficult and emotionally mature they were to navigate as well as they did in a life-or-death situation that took place over a couple of weeks tops, and how much more they could grow if given the time and space for it.
... And this was nearly going to be where I ended the post, until Ira reminded me of TDP and sent me this wonderful Saimota event (which takes place before the final graduation/training trio event):
Oh hey, Shuichi picked up his catchphrase! It's quite cute how he's finishing Kaito's sentence here - he's spent a couple of years being friends with Kaito at this point, and has even taken up exercising on his own for stress relief. I wonder whose influence that was?
Anyway -
Shuichi has figured out at this point that he does need to firmly extend that helping hand to Kaito rather than worry and keep it to himself. On the other side, Kaito has learned that it is okay to accept that outstretched hand, even if he doesn't need it right now - that he can admit that some day, he might. He's being blase, sure, but it is a far cry from his in-game 'I don't/won't need help'. Good for you, Kaito - you've grown a lot! And that's the most important thing their TDPs show - their capacity for growth not just as individuals, but in a relationship. Of course there will be bumps along the way - itâs very rare that any relationship wonât have them! - but they've proven that they can work these problems in the worst of circumstances. This is by far one of the strongest ships with canon foundation in the entire series, and my goodness do I still love it years later.

Mikaelsons Black History Month
First off, Iâm starting by saying that even though it is no longer Black history month it will always be melanin everyday and black people every day. And everything else under the sun, and if you donât like it then the exit is to your left. Everything you own in the box to the left
Being part of the Mikaelsons is very fickle business and be some bs. Like really, youâre here with supernatural beings who are over 1000 years old. Who have traveled the world, gained endless knowledge, seen a lot of bloodshed, but you know what they havenât seen? Their token human (black ofc) being ignant for black history month, I mean who even fully celebrates? How does one even celebrate?
Granted, theyâre not racist. But with the writing Julie Pleck did she was playing honestly. That was the worst writing I've ever seen since who knows when. Maybe the nine lives of Chloe king or something? But in my originals universe they were probably racist in the beginning to an extent then grew out of it.
Anyways, they never met someone who celebrated until they met you!
Now repeat after me: Iâm black yâall, and Iâm black yâall. And Iâm black and black and black yâall! FYM
NowâŚ. picture this: A moderately quiet day in the Mikaelson household. Kol is minding his business for once, Rebekah is trying to find the perfect pics for her next instagram post, Elijah is enjoying a good read, and Klaus is organizing his art materials. But then here comes you, the human, opening the door and walking right in like you pay bills (none of them do but you get the picture) in the midst of the most deadly people. Walking in and greeting everyone, walking in with the most hotep, Dr. Umar bullshit getup they ever seen. Coming to America headass.
They recognize your footsteps from a mile away, so when you walk into the kitchen and no one really looks up at first itâll be a sight to see a whole ass pelted lion on your back. The kente cloth hat (no idea the actual name for it, sorry babes), a saber tooth necklace (for my mans TâChalla), and the red stiletto nails with the afro out here banging.
SHEEEEEEEEESH
Once Elijah is done with his page he looks up to greet you, but then stops⌠Bitch, fuck is you wearing? This was worlds away from the sweats, and skinny jeans you wore on the daily.
âGreetings Y/N you lookâŚ. Fashionable.â Mans didnât know what to say. Did he miss something about your Africna roots? Was there a holiday he hadnât heard of, doubt it, but what else was there?
âThank you Elijah.â You fluff out your lion pelt for added effect, if there was ever going to be one time you outdo the Mikaelsonsâ especially Elijah in being dramatic with a coat or cloak of somesort, it would be now.
At this point the Kol and Rebekah have already looked up and were confused. Why are you dressed like that?
Kol is the first one to speak up âDarling, Rebekah likes a fashion show more than anyone, but why do you have a lion⌠on your shoulder.â
Lifting up your large ass shades you supplied an answer: âBlack History Monthâ
They all looked at each other⌠they didnât get it. Like they know what it is, but never actually understood how to celebrate and all that nor did they ever actually give it mind. When you saw that they werenât making a connection, you started phase 1.
âAlexa, you know what to do.â
And there goes their manor playing: NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA NIGGA IâM ONE HUNDRED PERCENT NIGGA
LMFAOOOOO you got the white people shook. Klaus just dropped one of his expensive ass bottles of art sealants and is vamp speeding to the kitchen to figure out what the hell is going on. Elijah having a mid century crisis on how tf they even found you and deemed you worthy of being in their presence so casually. Kol is having fun in the back, still laughing at your get up. And Rebekah wishes she went to the mall instead, she wanted a girl bestie and got you instead rip
âWHAT IN BLAZES- Y/N WHAT ARE YOU DO- WHAT ARE YOU WEARING! ALEXA STOP THE MUSIC-â And the big bad wolf has arrived. You put your finger to Klausâ lips which stuns him bc⌠youâre still HOOOMAN like damn, death wish much? And you look this man, straight in his mit and say âLooks at, look at meâ and pause for dramatic affect, âI am the captain nowâ
Room silent as hell till Kol starts cackling
Youâve made Dr. Umar proud, the ancestors are shining on you once again
With that you lead into a whole speech about the black struggle and black history month, bottom line: REPARATIONS. Because being the only nigga in the Mikaelsons (we donât claim Marcel) is exhausting, white people shit everyday that you complain about in their faces
TBH at this point theyâre indulging you in this escapade.
First victim is Elijah, you ask for his wallet. He gives you a look, I mean he does technically give you what you want and whatever (when yâall dating, refer back to my dating Elijah post), so he ask you why. Reparations sis why, but then you stop yourself. This man gives you his wallet every other day, half the time you not even asking. What could you rob this man ofâŚ. Ah. You ask him for the deed of one of his estates in Prague, why? Because you bitches canât even spell Prague. And under section S line 45 subsection Y it does state that estates are eligible for reparations. Fuck 40 acres and a mule, you got 300 acres, some stallions in the back, a quite possibly haunted mansion, and a heavy dicked (yeah I said it, a sis been trying to reality shift) original who will turn you out by the end of the day and the end of the monthâŚ. Wait till women's history month boo
We know his pockets figgity fat, and it would be figgity wack to not get some
Ngl you take Kol with you so he can buy you food. Granted, he knows what youâre doing, but if heâs going to spend money on anything it will be thawed and it will be music. However, one thing leads to another and youâre both at Wal-Mart waiting to find a parking spot. You stole one off a white minivan trying to move in. Not thinking anything of it because who in this small ass Mystic Falls ass, clown ass town really about it? Apparently Karen.
But you know who else what about it? Kol (tbh mans had nothing but time, and he claims you so why tf not.) he out here NY stomping on her and coming at her for badly glued extensions. Cheap ass bitch, ainât even blend in correctly.
After that Kol and you left with some groceries, a new story to tell, and a chopped cheese.
With Klaus, he frfr wasnât finna do shit. Being ordered my a human? Lmfao, go find another simp sis. But⌠once you suggest that his art skills may not be up to par on what you have in mind as a new family room piece for your house heâs all ears. He knows what youâre doing, but⌠he still wants to prove you wrong. But anyways, you give him a theme⌠reverse racism. IK yâall, itâs not a thing, but mans has ideas. And he outdoes himself. That and the recreation of the moorish chief bc that man...mmmmm that man was giving.
Ok so Google wanna hoe me, but there was a painting of a black man in a kkk cloak and behind him were white people being hung from a tree. Say what you want, but that photo was fire. If any of you seen it please share it below.
Anyways
Rebekah tbh wants no part in this, but I feel like sheâd gave when you ask her to give you all the finest dresses bc itâs an excuse to exhaust Klausâ money.
Through the month you give the Mikaelsons a run for their money, and maybe sanity. Klaus is in the back trying to research who tf Dr. Umar is and why is he your inspiration
They had to pull you back when the sheriff asked you for your ID. You ask why you needed white man paperwork!
You are pleasing the spirits, what bonnie could never do lmfaooooo. The powers of you enemies arenât prospering this month nor next month.
Youâre not poor this month, anything you poor of is pouring a little more (bars nigga)
LMFAOOOO imaging asking the fam to go to paris, like, they not invited itâs a self trip funded my the Mikaelson Y/N Trust Fund of Public Decency â˘
Klaus would be the first one to speak because this man is TIRED, âLove, why do you need a trip to paris? Whatâs in Paris?â
Knowing better, you look to Kol to answer the question, âI donât know, Kol, whoâs in Paris?â Niggas b. Niggas in parisâŚ. Lemme chill
LMFAOOO enjoy

The (possible) Downfall of Obey Me
5-16-21 (when writing this the event toys out)
(Tbh this post is just be trying to be naĂŻve towards Solomare and at ever aspectthat I mention you have every single right to be upset and mad)ďżź
Okay so itâs no secret that Obey me is making bank and is very very obviously trying to make us money on the game with even trying to make us spend money with original stuff that was free to now secretly changing some mechanics behind our back
Hereâs a post by @thalfox https://thalfox.tumblr.com/post/653994972840919040/i-just-noticed-a-little-bit-ago-that-the-barbatos that dose a really good job at explaining everything that has changed
(also this isnât a hate thing fox has actually done a great work explaining everything to good detail of what has changed)ďżź
With all the changes I donât think that itâs shocking to say that players are leavening the fandom because of many reasons to the games getting stupidly harder to even the game development
This is just a heads up this in no way is a post saying âhey this is why you shouldnât feel this wayâ I kinda just wanted to see from a business standpoint and be naĂŻve of ďżźwhatâs happening you have every reason to be mad at Solomare because even me Iâve been playing sense week 2 of game released and Iâm only on lesson 42 every counter argument that Iâm going to make I have complained about at some point
Arguments
(P.s grammar is really bad itâs sort of turned into more of a rant I wrote this at 5 am without any sleep so sorry)
1. Obey me is marketed as a free to play game
First there are many reasons people are mad this main thing that I hear about is from a lot of people is that is a âfree gameâ which lets be honest is ridiculously hard
But still it is still essentially a âfree to play gameâ I personally feel like the main prolog is lessons 1-20 to introduce all the characters to understand and getting the just on how to play the game
Okay and now hereâs where I sort of stand with obey me, the gatcha rates are kinda ridiculously lucky when you play for the first week you luck is so amazing and is in my experience with gatchas the best luck I have ever seen for games so itâs not really hard collecting the cards
Now are they the best absolutely no, this I feel like is where you might have to spend money unless they up the skills on the Nightmare A
But what Obey me is technically trying to do is obviously making you pay by releasing your favorite demon card every 2 week whichâŚarenât essential they are really just hoping that you love your main demon enough to pay
With the high increase on the gatcha rate there really isnât a pity unless you count the card piecesďżź (but Iâm not going to count that because you are more likely to roll your UR before completing the pieces)
Now after lesson 20 once the huge break I feel like Obey me almost expecting the players to keep logging in any doing jobs and some players did do that and boy did it pay off
But those players have not needed to spend a single dollar and are all caught up
Now for everyone else who didnât the game was so difficult itâs unimaginable and because for that a whole lot of players left the game and personally I donât blame them because of how much impact the next lessons were
Now sort of like Mystic Messenger you really just have to grind you ass off log in everyday and do JOBS :D and grind but as hard and long as it is you are still able to be a f2p but where obey me fails is that when grinding Mystic Messenger grinding was a lot more fun for me it took about a whole year to just get 550 hourglasses even when I purchased and same with Genshin Inpact it takes a while but with obey me there isnât really anything else to do once you get to a certain point which I think obey me really lacks and could be part of a reason why people left. Grinding just is not fun (now I do think that on a phone there is so much you can do with a app game but I feel like there could be a bit more they could do)
Personally Iâm just going to come out and say it donât spend your money for one UR card for your favorite demon itâs really not worth it now im one of those Mammon stans but if I ever wanted a specific card for instance the Mammon bunny card when it first came out I wanted it so badly and didnât get it but I also knew there would eventually be a revival so I saved and did not spend any DV(demon vouchers) until the revival
The events
Some people complain about getting the cards in the events onestly for me this one kinda makes a bit of sense I noticed the first change when the Vampire even came out and how it wasnât as easy to get the second card but if you think of it it makes sence why
When the first event came out (Santa event) you only had to collect about 30,000 gingerbread compared to the 100,000 in event today but when the first event came out no one was at high enough levels for the AP required and you would every day when times rest to gain gingerbread as well as there was only one part to the story so when people kept leveling up their AP Obey Me had to higher the bar so it wouldnât be so easy to get all these cards and have a actual reward system but eventually they also added another story lesson starting at the Ruri Chan event
Second thing about the events is that one there started just getting plain out boring.
When lesson 20 finished and we were all waiting for season 2 I was still loving in everyday and logging in at 12 and 8 for the free 30 AP because I didnât know what else to and would participate in the event but eventually what I think that all otome games that have constant events like Ikemen Vampire and Ikemen Revolution they just start getting repetitive and getting real boring so I stoped playing until there was something more interesting
The last thing that some people complain about the events is that you canât keep up with the story and the events now I canât find it but I believe that @0beyme said something about the events a long time ago about how you have to pick between the event and moving through the main story which I kinda think isnât really the games fault and more just a discussion on maybe missing a event
Add ons
Okay so they did this from day 1 you spend a certain amount of Devil point that you guaranteed donât have and get out a card
Now this is just spelling out a disaster
Yeah so for the first Charge Mission is when you log in which everyone had but essentially what they want you to do is spend $100 on a game that you just logged into and never experienced or played I donât really understand what they were even thinking with that but it mustâve worked for them to keep doing them
The second time they did it ďżźwas when the break was over and season 2 came out and they celebrated by doing another charge mission which was the Lucifer and Simon card which would cost again $100 again I really donât understand what they were thinking
And now this is I believe the fourth time they have done this for the 1.5 anniversary where they know that Mammon is obviously a favorite for many Obey Me players and where smart to put it on the really stupid charge mission but the difference is, is that instead of it costing $100 it would cost almost $200(same with Leviâs) for one thing I donât understand

But one thing that you do have to remember is is that this isnât apart of the main gameplay it really just is a mini game if you would even call it that of dress up and optimization so still I guess would be just a add on that has no effect on the actual story and game so you could I guess still call it a f2p game with really really stupidly high priced add ons
VIP
Umm so I am the first one to call myself out I have bought the VIP package first when season 2 happened and I knew how much I loved the game so personally it was worth it to me to support the developers and gain something out of it
Now I havenât really seen much complaints on the VIP because people more use it as a âhey the game is impossible with out VIPâ but the people who say this ive noticed never bought it
For $9.99 each month it is 100%
IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!! Out of everything you get which honestly isnât much you get some extra free space in jobs and really thatâs it and if you choose to use all your job slots for the highest paying you get around 30,500 about a 10,000 difference not really worth it in my opinion
With VIP you also get other things like higher chance of gifts from Jobs which you will not notice one bit, and +20 AP (which if you play the events is sort of useful) as well as extra packages exclusive to VIPs so after paying $9.99 per month you also get more things to buy and thatâs about it for VIP now if you really want to get more grim just use your AP and spend it of normal lessons you will get more AP that way
The Story and Kids
This could be all me just complaining and a theory by I wanted to include it anyway
Obviously many people are not even caught up or even playing but as more lessons went on the less interesting the story became to me I donât know if itâs a me thing but season one was absolutely amazing the once season two came out it was good but not anywhere as good and one
One reason why I think that it to me became almost bland is the amount of kids that is on the app and how sensitive people were if anything bad happens
Itâs no secret that the Japanese versions a lot more non-kid friendly for hellâs sake the characters donât even swear as well as all the colors I feel like to a American audience bright colors is usually marketed towards kids but in other countriesI think many understand that that is not always the case for instance a lot of people will thing in America that anime is all for kids but I mean look at Attack on Titan or Tokyo Ghoul you would not let kids watch that of literal people getting brutally murdered you just donât see things like that in the West where something looking kid friendly could also be very adult like
Also wtf dose this in the App Store say +12 with Ikemen Vampire and a lot of other games if you have a game rated +17 then there will be a actual pop up that says something along the lines of how âthier could be violence acts and sexual act are you sure you want to instalâ
Now the story Iâve seen people point this out but there isnât really much character development for instance Beel he dose not have a actual personality his personality (fight me on this one) all you really know about him is that he likes food and his family now I could be wrong cuz Iâm on lesson 42 but still not much and this is kinda with all the characters except the special ones where the devs really favor and love for story
Some one mentioned how the developers hold back a lot which I agree with 100% they said how when there is character development they all the sudden pull back and never will almost talk about it again like ???? So thereâs this constant bland story
ââââââ-
Honestly if you liked this I might do more cuz as much as this post made me especially at the end I kinda liked ranting so...yeah there is also many other things that I want to rant about but Iâm tired soooo

On Seasons 9 and 10 of Stargate SG1
A note: I wrote a series of essays several weeks ago, when I was feeling particularly crappy. I'm not particularly proud of them--they're pretty dramatic--but they do explain several of my more personal fandom feelings. I know I don't always tend to be the best at explaining things on the spot, so I'm posting these with the hope that I can refer people to them the next time that happens.
Um, I mentioned they're a little dramatic. I'm really, really sorry about that. But hey, if I can't be dramatic on Tumblr, in fandom, where else is that gonna go?
But still - if you're feeling a little sensitive today, maybe you wanna skip this. Or not. Just a light warning. :)
This piece is on seasons 9 and 10 of Stargate SG1, but they aren't all Stargate-related. I'll be posting them in the next few days, hopefully.
To those of you who like s9-10: I have nothing against you. Some of you I know better, some less well. In general, though, I like you, you seem like fine people. This is not about you, I hold nothing against you for liking those seasons. In fact, I envy you. This is more a personal post about why I'm an idiot. If you want, feel free to scroll down past this. I won't be offended. I'd put it under the cut but I'm on mobile.
Okay. Why, hello, those of you willing to read this rant...
No matter how much I denounce and ignore it, I cannot get past the pain of seasons 9 and 10 of Stargate SG-1. I've never watched them in full. Seen a few episodes here and there.
I cannot, repeat, CANNOT stand the thought today. It hurts.
It's an old pain, and it's not just SG1. SG1 is just one of the highlights in a long line of books and shows that have repeatedly broken my heart by being SO GOOD and then taking an, uh, precipitous right turn, shall we say. Because a hard right seems too kind, and a precipitous drop too harsh.
I love SG1. I love love love it. I like the plots and I love the science, but what I really fell in love with was the characters.
I loved all of them. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if Sam, Daniel, or Teal'c had been on any other show, I guarantee you they would have been my favorite by far. Jack is just so...Jack that he has to be my favorite. That's SG1 for you.
I've never had super close friends. I have good RL friends, don't get me wrong. They're nice people. But we don't have much in common.
That's okay. That's been my experience forever--really nice folks who maybe didn't always get me or have anything to say to me, but were good, decent people.
And this is good. Really, it is. It's just that SG-1, for me, has always represented the promise that there *are* people out there that are your true friends, and you will do brave and brilliant things with them. It will happen.
It's naive, I know. But I haven't been able to let it go. Maybe someday. But not right now.
Which brings me to s9-10 of SG1. It hurts.
It hurts that SG1 scattered to the wind.
It hurts that they sent Jack away from a place where he was happy, where he'd found friends and meaning in life again, away to fucking DC. To be...what? A politician? I could write a whole post just about this. Actually, I have. I could still write more posts about it!
It hurts that Sam went to Area 51, and nobody seemed to mind, the 'Gate didn't spontaneously combust as we were always led to believe it would.
It hurts that Daniel's personality supposedly changed that much, in the absence of his friends. Though some of his lines are funny, they aren't the earnest, idealistic, thoughtful Daniel I fell in love with. I get the idea that new-look Daniel would roll his eyes at s3-8 Daniel, and beat up floppy hair Daniel. And floppy hair Daniel is my baby and anyone who doesn't appreciate his brilliance can face my wrath. That includes you, buff s9-10 Daniel, and also whoever decided/approved that change in characterization.
Really, the only one who doesn't hurt is Teal'c. Because it feels like he's moving forward, toward happiness.
So...here we are. Season 9. Mitchell, Landry.
I often say I hate Mitchell. Do I resent him for replacing Jack? Yes. I do. We can talk about plot reasons and all that, but at the end of the day, I was going to hate anyone who tried to be Jack.
This is true in real life, too. You can't try to be anyone else. You've gotta walk your own path.
Now, people say that I didn't give Mitchell a chance. I say that the way he was portrayed, in the few episodes I've seen, tells me enough.
I can think of lots of ways Mitchell could have been interesting. How would Daniel and Teal'c react to an old, actually bad tempered (not Jack bad tempered, actually bad tempered) hardass after eight years of their best friends leading them? Or--start with his actual character. Mitchell, he hasn't been at the SGC. Wouldn't he get some flack from the longtime team leaders of SGs 2-5ish? They'd be insulted, right?
Or we could've gotten a nice Daniel Teal'c episode arc and then we could've had one Samantha Carter as team leader, though we won't get into that.
Bringing me to my next point. Co-leads?? Seriously?? You're trying too hard, folks. Telling me Sam used to know Mitchell does not actually make me like him.
Same thing with Landry. Unlike Mitchell, I guess I don't really have an opinion on Landry. He's just....there? No character development for this man.
Anyway, back to the team.
One of the things I love about SG1 is how the humor and friendship was so damn natural. Other than a few episodes (Urgo comes to mind), the plots weren't intentionally humorous. They were campy sci-fi plots sometimes, sure. They were funny because Jack was funny, yeah. They were lower budget than some other sci-fi. But they were as serious as sci-fi gets. It was how the characters reacted that made it funny.
Similarly, we were never told SG1 were found family. We just Knew. Because of the way they acted with each other. Because of the way Jack would "order" them to do things.
And hey, by the way, they weren't always family. Sam used to be less willing to ignore Jack. Daniel used to be less willing to trust Teal'c. Jack used to be a little more stern.
So...they meshed together. Like all found families do.
Every time I see a photo of new-look SG1 in seasons 9 and 10, I can't help but feel that they're trying too hard. I don't get the family feel because they aren't a family, damn it. It doesn't matter how many times you *tell* me they're super close. One of the reasons the original team got so close is because they all needed each other. Jack was depressed, Daniel was grieving, Sam was alone and had lost her mom and wasn't speaking with her dad and had never opened up to anyone in her life, Teal'c was an alien fighting for freedom after spending 100 years essentially as a slave.
And partly because of that, by season 9? Daniel and Teal'c (and Sam, when she comes back) don't need a family the way they used to. They have each other. They have Jack, or at least they *should*. *Glares in angry at Jack in DC vibes*
So...they simply don't have the relationship with Mitchell they do with each other.
It'd be different if Mitchell needed a family. It's not that SG1 hasn't added people before--I think Jonas is a perfect example of this. He wasn't Daniel, and that always hurt. But he was young, and naive, and innocent, and he needed SG1 because he'd left everything he'd ever known.
And that worked.
Without needing family, Mitchell is just a coworker. He can be a friendly coworker. A friend. But if he wanted to become better friends, family, he needed to show depth and vulnerability. He needed to need SG1.
And he never does, from what I've seen and heard about and read about. Or if he does need SG1, he doesn't need them badly enough to show more than an occasional bout of thoughtfulness before returning to his normal pale-Jack-imitation ways.
Now, I don't know why that is. I lean toward bad writing. I haven't watched Farscape (it's on my to watch list) but it seems like Ben Browder is a fine actor.
So, seasons 9 and 10 are probably fine TV. I'm never going to watch them through, so don't ask. I've tried and failed and every time it just tears my heart a little more and I'm won't be doing it again.
Those seasons...they just lost everything I watch SG-1 for, and so...yeah. I feel the hate strongly. Not because they're bad--I think they're different, not necessarily bad. My hate is only because in creating those seasons, they tore down the parts of SG1 that I loved most.
So s9-10 show me a few nice hugs and laughs? That's nice. I like comedies, I do. However...that's not my Stargate. Not the one I love. I liked the sarcastic one, the one full of wonder, the one where they had to scrape and claw their way through the galaxy with naivety and courage and brilliance. The one where they ate together, fought together, died together, were resurrected together.
It hurts, man. It hurts when the things I love turn into something that's lukewarm. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
That's why we have fanfic. And, with any luck, I'll actually start that AU I've been talking about.
It's fanfic, and so it'll be my Stargate. The ending I wanted--which really wasn't an ending at all, more of a closure of one chapter of the story.
Damn, did that turn dramatic. Um, sorry about that, and also sorry for spilling my feelings all over you guys. Thanks for reading, if you got to the end of this.

All The Clouds Ch. 1 | Niall Horan x Reader
Warnings: tiny mention of alcohol
Chapter 1: HEARTBREAK WEATHER
âIt can be so lonely in this city,â
In a surprise to no one, Niall was watching golf when you arrived at his large Los Angeles home. He had changed clothes in the couple of hours since you had seen him last, he was now wearing grey sweatpants (that you were very familiar with having worn them multiple times yourself) and a blue t-shirt. The late afternoon sun was filling the entryway with a deliciously golden and welcoming hue when he opened the door for you, letting you inside.
âI thought we were watching a movie,â you couldnât help but comment on his choice of programming as you took off your coat, dropping it on a chair as you made your way towards his kitchen.
âI thought you were bringing dinner,â he shot back with a smirk, following you like a lost puppy.
âI did bring dinner, I just need to make it first.â You were no stranger to his kitchen, and wasted no time preheating the oven and reaching for the dishes youâd need to make the dinner you had planned. Niall perched himself on a chair, watching your movements closely.
âWhat?â you raised your eyebrows when you noticed the way he was pouting.
âI was hoping youâd just order pizza or something,â he confessed, leaning against the counter, âI like it when you cook, pet, but Iâm starving.â
âYouâre a grownup with your own phone. You can order pizza if you want, butâŚâ you paused, pulling tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese out of the grocery bag you had brought, âI can make it faster than the delivery person can bring it.â
Niall looked at you in disbelief, his mouth opening slightly and his eyes lighting up, âhowâd you know?â
âWeâve been friends for years, I just know,â you shrugged, biting your lip to hide your smile and looking down at the dough you needed to roll out, âI let this rise while I was home so all it needs is toppings and to be thrown in the oven once I shape it.â
âYou do that, Iâll go put on some music,â Niall suggested. Much like you knew heâd want pizza that evening, he knew that you preferred loud music while cooking. While you started stretching the dough, he walked away. You heard the TV turn off, followed by the beep of his phone connecting to his speakers.
The music came on while you were dusting his counter with flour, a bright pop melody that you immediately recognized. You couldnât help but move your hips along to the song, letting the beat dictate your movements.
âAhhhh this hit, that ice cold Michelle Pfeiffer, that white gold,â Niall rejoined you in the kitchen, singing loudly and dancing just as badly as you were. He shuffled up beside you, dancing in time until he found the perfect moment to grab your hands and spin you around. His quick movement caught you off guard, sending you into a fit of giggles when you righted yourself. He let you turn back to the pizza dough, instead grabbing a wooden spoon from beside his stove and using it as a microphone.
âStop, wait a minute. Fill my cup, put some liquor in it,â you sang along with him. This song was one of your favorites to listen to while goofing off with Niall, it had the perfect amount of words and instrumentals. It was a great song to listen to while in the kitchen, driving through the city with the windows down, and every time in between.
Out of the corner of your eye you noticed Niall strutting away from you, still lost in the music. You took the opportunity to leave your station at the counter and innocently walk up to him, singing quietly as he turned to you, oblivious.
Just as the beat dropped, you reached your floured thumb up to his face and swiped it across his forehead, leaving a trail of white dust in your wake. Niall knew exactly what youâd done, laughing loudly as you scampered away from him to the other side of the kitchen. He followed you quickly, grabbing a handful of flour as he passed by the bag you had left out. You tried to escape him, getting chased around the table in the middle of the room a few times, but there was no way for you to get past him.
âNiall,â you cautioned when he had you cornered by the fridge.
âPetal,â he emphasized the L just as you had with his name.
You held your hands up in surrender as he took a step closer, âyou donât have to do this.â
âYes I do, you started it.â
Another step.
âI didnât start anything.â
âYes you did.â
Another step.
âI thought you were starving, let me finish the pizza.â
âThe pizza can wait.â
Another step. You were running out of time.
âWhatâs that over there?â
As soon as Niallâs head turned to look where you had pointed, you lunged towards the pile of flour on the counter. He was quick to react once he realized you had tricked him, catching you with one strong arm across your middle. The other came up to drop the whole handful of flour that he had been holding over top of your head. You managed to grab enough flour from the counter to leave handprints on either side of his cheeks when you turned to face him.
His grip around your torso didnât loosen until you were both sufficiently covered in a plentiful dusting of flour.
âAre you conceding?â you asked smugly when he finally stopped.
âNo, Iâm just hungry,â he confessed, laughing, âcan we finish the pizza now?â
âThe pizza could have been done by now but someone chose to dump flour on my head.â
You moved back to where the dough and toppings had been abandoned, quickly putting everything together and into the oven. When you closed the oven, Niall was back by your side, pulling you into him.
âThis is for Instagram,â he explained when he held up his phone, the front camera facing the two of you.
âAs if your fans needed another reason to love you,â you rolled your eyes, but posed anyways. âI canât wait for this pizza to be done so I can go shower.â
âYou can go now if you want, Iâll watch the oven,â Niall offered.
âAre you sure? You wonât get distracted and forget about it?â
âHave a little faith, petal. Iâll be fine.â
âOkâŚâ you said slowly, walking towards the guest bedroom, âIâm trusting you. It needs to come out it ten minutes.â Niall shot you back a cheesy grin.
âDonât worry about it, enjoy your shower.â
Though your days of being starstruck by Niall were long gone, his home never ceased to amaze you. It wasnât every day you got to be in a multi-million dollar home that put your small apartment to shame. Niall didnât spend all of his time in LA, and when he was in the city of angels he usually had some form of work to do. Somehow, he always managed to make time in his busy schedule to hang out with you, even if it meant leaving the studio and stopping by your apartment for dinner three nights in a row. Though you often lived on opposite sides of the world, you never felt like Niall neglected you or your friendship.
Over the years you had spent enough time at his house to be allowed a whole drawer in his guest bedroom to keep your clothes. In reality, your drawer contained a pair of gym shorts, a pair of sweatpants, a nice outfit for going out, and a stack of t-shirts you had stolen from Niall.
You pulled out a t-shirt and the shorts, then walked over to the en suite bathroom and stripped yourself of your dirty clothes. You turned on the shower and let the water warm up before stepping into the stream. It took longer than you wanted to scrub the flour out of your hair and off of your face. It seemed like every time you thought you had gotten it all, more would appear. Â Â Once you were absolutely certain you were clean, you turned off the water and wrapped yourself in a towel.
You dressed yourself in the clothes you had picked earlier, then combed through your hair with your fingers briefly before leaving the bathroom to rejoin Niall. He was lounging on his very large couch, transfixed on his phone. You sat down next to him, sinking into the cushions. Without looking up from his phone, he lifted his arm so you could rest your legs across his lap. His calloused thumb started rubbing thoughtlessly and gently across the skin by your knee.
His hair was damp and his clothes were clean. He had probably showered as well, you mused. You couldnât help but find yourself distracted by the nuances of Niallâs facial expressions as he scrolled through Twitter. You couldnât deny that your best friend was extremely handsome, even more so now that he had stopped bleaching his hair and was letting his natural brunet locks grow out. The way his face lit up when reading comments from fans made your heart swell, his grin so familiar it was like putting on your favorite hoodie.
âWhat are ya lookinâ at?â Niall poked your ribs when he looked up and noticed the way you were staring at him.
âYour face.â
âIs there somethinâ wrong with it?â he cheesed, turning his chin back and forth so you could see it from all angles.
âOf course not,â you smirked, pinching his cheek between your fingers, âI think itâs nice.â Â
âOnly nice? I think itâs sexy.â
âDork,â you rolled your eyes, âare you going into the studio tomorrow?â
âMhmm,â Niall hummed, âdo you want to come with?â
You scoffed at his question, âOf course I want to come with, thatâs not even a question. Can I-â
âAbsolutely not,â he quickly interrupted you, aware of what you were about to ask before the words even left your mouth, âyouâre not allowed to touch the sound board.â
âNiiiii,â you whined, throwing your head back dramatically, âplease?â You tried to pout as best as you could, hoping his heartstrings would do you a favor. Instead, he just laughed at your dramatics.
âNo, you know me too well. I write decent lyrics but if you get your hands on it, itâll be like reading my diary to the whole world.â
âYou keep a diary?â you snickered, choosing to ignore the compliment he gave you.
âNo, but if I did you would turn it into a gorgeous song, I know it.â
âSure.â You chose to leave it at that, pulling up your own Twitter timeline. Your notifications were flooded with screenshots of the Instagram story Niall had posted. Most of the replies were along the lines of âgoalsâ and âI wish I was (y/n)â. There was also an abundance of conversations regarding your relationship status with Niall. âI ship this so hardâ, and âI didnât know Niall and (y/n) were datingâ among other things.
This wasnât the first time your relationship with the Irishman had been speculated about, online or otherwise. Multiple of your friends and even your parents had said something to you at one point or another, claiming you were made for one another. Every time you or Niall posted something online about the other, the fans had a field day with it.
The close bond you shared was no secret to the world, but it hadnât come easy. After years of knowing each other, the best way you could describe it was âright person, wrong timeâ. Your lives were better with the other in it, but there were too many ups and downs that had gotten in the way of a romantic relationship.
Your mind wandered to the possibility of actually dating him, of being able to call him your boyfriend for the first time since you had met. He wasnât wrong, you did know all of the nuances of his emotions. You knew him better than you had known anyone in your entire life. When you were younger, there were a million reasons not to date. One Direction was just taking off, paparazzi was everywhere, and he was in a new city every day. You were also both career-driven, a relationship that early on would have gotten in the way. Now, though, the band was on hiatus and he was taking some much needed time away from the prying eyes of the public. Now, a relationship could actually be a possibility.
As soon as the thought crossed your mind it terrified you.
There was a reason you and Niall had stayed friends all these years- the connection you had with each other was undeniable- but you worried that if you tried to pursue something else with him it would ruin all of the goodness between you. You had to stay just friends with him, even if it felt like you were starting to want more.
You needed a distraction, so you refocused your mind on the present.
âDid you eat all the pizza while I was in the shower?â you nudged his stomach with your knee gently.
Niall glanced at you in confusion, processing your words. As soon as he did, his eyes went wide.
âDonât be mad.â
âI was hoping youâd share but I guess Iâm not-â you were cut off by a loud beeping in the adjacent kitchen, realization hitting after the initial shock of the sound. âNiallllll,â you sighed as you jumped out of his lap.
You ran to the kitchen, shutting off the oven and pulling out the charred remains of what was going to be a delicious pizza. Niall followed quickly, grabbing a hand towel to wave in front of the smoke alarm until it turned off.
âSorry, pet,â he apologized once the house was once again silent. You stood shoulder to shoulder, sadly gazing at the burnt meal. âYou went to shower and it sounded nice so I wanted to take one too. I got distracted and forgot.â
âItâs ok, Ni,â you put a hand gently on his wrist.
âNo, itâs not. You worked hard to make dinner for us and I ruined it.â He seemed really upset about it, looking down and away from you instead of his normal attentiveness.
âHey,â you called gently, âIâm actually, honestly, not mad at you, or upset at all for that matter. I should have remembered too. Accidents happen.â
âHonestly?â he looked up, his blue eyes searching yours for sincerity.
âHonestly. There is something you can do to make it up to me, though.â
âAnything,â Niall perked up eagerly. You reached up to pat him lightly on the cheek.
âYou can order delivery from that place across town that I like.â You left him with that, walking back into the living room and getting comfortable again on the couch. You heard Niall talking in the other room, presumably making the call to the restaurant. After a minute he joined you, picking up your legs as he sat down so they were once again resting across his lap. He didnât say anything until he noticed the way you were biting your lip to fight back a smile.
âWhat?â
âItâs not funny.â
âWe almost burned my house down,â Niall was starting to catch on, the corners of his lips turning up.
âYup. We almost burned your house down and itâs really not funny.â
Niall watched you struggle to keep your composure, amused, âitâs a little funny.â
As soon as the words left his mouth, you both lost it.
It took you far too long to stop laughing, feeding off of each otherâs energy. Once you had finally caught your breath, Niall stood up.
âDelivery should be here in ten minutes, do you want a beer?â
You nodded, watching him walk away.
That man is my best friend, you thought. As soon as the words crossed your mind, your earlier internal battle resurfaced. Sure, Niall was your best friend, but your relationship didnât necessarily need to stay that way.
It certainly wasnât how it had started.
âBut it feels different when youâre with meâ

A Dozen Ice Cream Cones (Dante x Fem!Reader)
Summary: Patty wants to know what happened to the girl who offered Dante his very first strawberry sundae. But to know the rest of the story, she must erase the dozen ice cream cones from Dante's tab. (Part 2 of A Tab To Erase) (Part 1)
Tags: Pre DMC3 Dante / Dante is Tony Redgrave / Flirting / Lost Friends to Lovers / Implied Sexual Content / Explicit Language
Authorâs note: You wished for Part 2, there it is ;-) If you want to place this part of the story in the DMC timeline, I'd say that it is shortly before DMC3. Dante is roughly eighteen (and so is Reader) and still goes by the name Tony Redgrave. Again, the Dante who is talking to Patty is definitely post DMC Anime. I decided not to give many details about him so that he could be the one of your choice. Can definitely do a part 3 if you want.
MISSION 2
Dante was about to get fleeced. He could feel it in his guts, which had somehow developed this strange ability to knot tightly in his stomach each time he was about to lose. Probably the result of so many years of bad luck in gambling. And yet, Pattyâs eyebrows were weirdly furrowed as she was quietly eyeing all of the cards in her hands. She had to have a straight flush. Dante had no doubt about that. So why wasnât she playing? âYou know, Dante. I was thinking âŚâ    âNot again.â The man grumbled, wondering why she was taking her time. But Patty had learned to ignore Danteâs sudden irritations long ago, knowing they were always brief and harmless.    âYou didnât stay friends, right?â Dante arched an eyebrow and stared at the girl in front of him as she was sitting still, big blue eyes fixed upon his face, patiently waiting for the answer to her unexpected question.  âWhat are you talking about?â A sigh escaped his mouth. He knew what she was talking about. He just wanted to elude the answer. But the little blonde was not one to easily give up. âWith the little girl. The one who made you first strawberry sundae. You didnât stay friends. Why?â          âWhat makes you think that?â Using a question to avoid an answer. Yes, could work.       âWell, if you had a friend making you strawberry sundaes for free, then you would not spend an unreasonable amount of money on them. So, Iâm guessing she must not be around anymore.â Patty was perceptive. Dante could give her that quality, for sure. Though right now it was more a bother than anything else. âWhat happened?â    âShe moved on with her life.â was the only thing that he felt like answering as he quietly stood up to take a beer in his fridge, certain that this was just the beginning of another long questioning.        âSo you never saw her again after that night in the diner?â Patty asked as she watched Dante slouch back in the couch, taking his cards back in his hand to cover whatever expression Patty was trying to spot on his face.    âYes, I did saw her again.â He finally confessed, eyes on the dog-eared Queen of Hearts he was grazing with his thumbnail.       âThen tell me!â The girl begged, unable to resist the excitement growing in her body any longer. â Why would I? Donât you have any stupid soap opera to watch?â    â The TVâs broken⌠AGAIN.â She complained but he couldnât care less. He had no money to afford buying a new one or fixing this one. Plus, there was nothing worth watching on TV so âŚâCome on. Iâll erase the dozen ice creams cones from your tab if you do.â Dante looked away from his cards with a sudden tiny smirk as he noticed Patty on the edge of her chair, impatiently waiting for the new part of his story to begin. âNow you speak my language, Patty.â     â You never do something for free! Itâs annoying!â    âAre you kidding me? I do a lot of things for free. Thatâs why Iâm so broke and live in this hellhole.â He waved at the place with open arms before taking a gulp of his beer with a grimace. Yuck, itâs hot! And of course it was. He hadnât paid the bills yet again.      âSo we have a deal, then. Now tell me.â
A DOZEN ICE CREAM CONES
It was the nineties â perhaps the most awful period for anyone who had even just a small sense for fashion or music - and as the city of Red Grave was still lovingly dancing on ridiculous love ballads on Friday nights, wearing tight crop tops, colourful scrunchies and platform sneakers, Dante â now named Tony Redgrave - was trying to make his place as a young mercenary in the rough areas of the city, hanging in bars serving some drinks stronger than strawberry sundaes (though he would always order one at some point) and in clubs where women would gladly take their clothes off if asked too, mind a few bucks of course (except for Venus. Venus would always flash her breasts for free for her sweet Tony).
âNot sure I want to know that.â â Oh yes. Forgot the story must be PG-13, sorry. Anyway âŚâ
He was looking for jobs, something that would help him pay for a proper roof over his head and the fancy long red leather coat he had just bought (five hundred bucks but worth every single dime) and luckily for him he knew the perfect man to find him that.
His name was Enzo Ferino. A short and chubby Italian-American broker, probably the best informant in the neighbourhood, one who could smell high-paying jobs for miles around especially those Dante loved to refuse.
âWhere was Morrison?â âCan I tell my story please?â
âCome on Tony! You canât refuse that job. Not another one. Not again.â He almost threw a fist on the counter before he remembered the last time he did so. Two bullets had whizzed the top of his black curly head and he had had thanked his mama for making him so short. âHavenât you heard the reward? Donât you see all the zeros on that check, my friend?â Yes, there were four and enough to pay the bail and few rents of the place he wished to rent to create his own agency. But Dante didnât want that check nor did he want that job.       âIf he wants to recover a stupid necklace, he can call the cops for that ⌠or a bailiff. I donât go after silly poker players. I have better things to do.â He took a sip of his whiskey, the third of the night, not even looking at the two men sitting next to him and begging him to take that damn job with pleading eyes.        âYou have nothing better to do!â Enzo shouted, throwing his hands in the hair like a living Italian clichĂŠ. âPlease Sir. Itâs my girlfriendâs necklace. One she offered me on our anniversary. Itâs very precious to her.â The man who wished to hire him declared as he started rummaging in the pocket of his designer coat.        âAnd you bet on it?â Dante scoffed. âDamn. What a perfect boyfriend you are. But thatâs still a no.â
The man pressed a piece of paper next to Danteâs drink. A photo, a polaroid, judging by the quality of the paper, carefully placed face down like a poker card, showing that that man was most probably a pro-gambler or at least was used to card games. Another reason not to help. He would probably lose the damn necklace right after recovering it. Â Â Â Â And yet, Dante took the picture in his hand. Though he didnât really know why he did. Certainly the curiosity to know what kind of chick that prick could have in his life or maybe the will to use the picture to taunt him about his taste in women. He imagined a prude church girl, some daddyâs girl probably as rich as him, not very pretty but fancy, wearing pearl earrings and silk headscarves matching her shiny shoes. The type of girl that swaggers in the street and roll her disdainful eyes when they see men like Dante (though they might secretly wished he would rumple their sheets). Â
Patty cleared her throat. âWhat? Every girl loves some good bad boy once in a while... And how do you even know what that means?â
He couldnât be more wrong. And he couldnât be more surprised. He would recognize those big (colour) eyes and that sweet smile among thousands, despite the time apart, despite the years that had turned a fearful little boy into a daredevil mercenary and an adorable little girl into a magnificent young girl. He would recognize them always because they were the first that had made in smile when he thought he would never smile again. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â âHer name is Y/N. Sheâs the sweetest girl in the world. Innocent. Pure.â Dante cringed at the manâs words, finding them rather repulsive and somewhat perverted. Something in the way they were rolling off his tongue. Â Â Â âCome on, Tony. You canât say no to a sweet girl.â Enzoâs sentence was met with a glare that made him shiver but when he saw his partner stand up and empty his glass of whiskey, he somewhat relaxed. âYouâre pieces of shit. Both of you.â Â Â Â Â âDoes that mean you take the job?â Dante didnât bother answer.
But he took the job. Not for Enzo. Especially not for his shitty client. And even less for the cash. For her. Just for her. To finally return the favour after so many years. Because he owed her one. Because she was possibly one of the few humans heâs always respected in his ten years wandering the nighty street of Red Grave. And because she didnât deserve an asshole like the one she dated to lose something apparently so precious to her in a silly game of cards. An easy job for someone like him but one he despised nevertheless. He hated to deal with humans. They were sometimes worse than demons and you canât fix problems with them by using a sword.
âDonât tell me you won the necklace back?â â I did. Fair and square. Well ⌠almost. I ended up using my sword. Turned out the Mafiosi who had Y/Nâs necklace were a bunch of demons who had made a few bars in downtown Red Grave their lairs.â
But once Dante had Y/Nâs necklace in the palm of his hand he did something only Dante could do. He refused the reward, refused all the zeros on the check and the chance to finally buy that agency he wanted so badly. âThe things you do for beautiful women.â Gunsmith Nell Goldstein had said when she had given him back his guns, all polished and fixed, after he had wrecked them on the job again. âTheyâre your weakness, Tony. Always leading you around by the nose ⌠or something else.â Perhaps, but he never minded.    Â
And as he watched Y/N approaching the door to her home out of the corner of his eye, a bunch of books under her arms, looking for her keys in her bag, Dante knew he would not regret his weakness for women or his decision to refuse the money. Â Â Â
She looked as sweet as he remembered, as delicate as in the picture if not more. And just as her shitty boyfriend had said, she indeed seemed rather innocent and pure. Almost fragile. Nothing like the girls he had met before, especially those he had seen undressed at Love Planet or in one of the magazines he kept in his drawers.    âGoodness gracâŚâ She almost dropped her books as she jumped, surprised and somewhat scared, and put her hand over her heart that had certainly missed quite a beat when she noticed this insanely tall stranger on her doorstep.  But her sudden fear disappeared immediately when she recognized the silvery white hair covering the icy blue eyes of the man before her. âTony?â She arched an eyebrow and he smiled with the same childish joy she had witnessed on his face years ago. And just like that, she was certain it was him.    âHello, Y/Nâ He offered his hand and she briefly stared at it, remembering for a small instant the time she held out her tiny hand to him the same way, the night they met. And so she grabbed it, genuinely happy to see him again and yet curious to know how he had found her and why he was back after so many years.    But when she fell something cold and metallic in his hand she got her answer. âMy necklace. How?â âWon it back for you.â He simply answered but that was enough for her to understand what happened. â[Boyfriend] lost it on a poker game, didnât he?â And even though that didnât really surprised her as she knew how much he loved gambling despite her telling him not to, it disappointed her anyway. âYou shouldnât date boys who have a streak of bad luck in gambling⌠Except those like me.â She looked up at Danteâs piercing blue eyes, unsettled by his flirtatious humour, thinking he accidentally let that slip but he definitely did not. Those last words, impulsive and yet somewhat well thought out, had rolled off his tongue with a scandalous smoothness and a self-confidence that had rooted her to the spot, speechless, but in a weirdly pleasant way that made her want to slap herself. âOr especially me. Depends if you like trouble.â   With a smug smirk, he stared at her, deep in her eyes, almost ⌠hungrily? She didnât really know. All that she knew was that never a man had looked at her that way. Certainly not her boyfriend. And who knew such icy eyes could set fire to her cheeks like that? âBut, judging by that place and your guy, you seem to enjoy some well-ordered life.â
Not really. Not at all. Her life was boring, plain and dull. Nothing like in the books she read. Nothing like what she had dreamed of. But exactly what her mother had wished for her. Â Â Â Â She was an adorable daughter, a top student finishing up high school, ready to leave Red Grave with her well brought up boyfriend to start a life many would envy but that she cared little about. Â Â She wanted adventure. She wanted excitement. Passion. Frivolity. Freedom. And maybe even some danger. She wanted all that and more. Â Â Â Â Â And as she looked at the self-assured man in front of her, she couldnât help but believe that he had somehow managed to obtain all that. And she wanted to know how. How did that life feel? How could he live such a life? How could she have the same? Â Â Â Â And Dante noticed that small fire, that tamed lonely flame burning deep in her eyes that needed just a drop or two of gasoline to rage and shine brightly. Something he could easily provide if she let him, if thatâs what she wanted.
âTake care of yourself, Y/Nâ He nodded her goodbye and as he shifted to walk away, she opened her lips to say. âWould you like a strawberry sundae?â And she cursed herself for this, so damn loud in her head. You have a boyfriend! A voice repeated on and on, feeling the temptation in her heart and the ideas of what some people would call unfaithfulness seeping in her brain. But as she opened the door to her apartment, ready to finally kick the boredom out of her life for something else, for something more, the voice seemed to fade. Â Â Â Â Â Guess the Devil truly finds work for idle hands to do.

Iâm probably over thinking/over complicating things but Ironwood and Penny have been really bothering me. It because prior to the moment that destroyed Pennyâs arc the show and Ruby were really pushing that Penny not matter her body was human and thatâs a very positive I like that especially when it comes to characters of Pennyâs nature.
So my problem kicks in when I think of Ironwood. Namely this part in his song:
âWhat if it's true as they say
That I don't have a heart
That I'm more a machine than a man?â
Like wtf. I mean I âget itâ especially with that dumbass line of Winter. But when itâs talked about Ironwood it was always in reference to the fact that his body is half robotic and there for we are meant to see the correlation between his body and his character.?
Put next to Pennyâs message that really bothers me. Even more so since Penny gets a ârewardâ of becoming human, but the writers push that Ironwood sacrificing his arm to stop Watts and replacing it (a medical decision that could be debated given that he wanted to be up and able immediately to handle things not to mention that fact that nerves and muscle are severely fucked up) with a new (uncharacteristically uncovered) prosthetic means that heâs moving away from humanity. This thought has been driving nuts for a week.
I donât think youâre overthinking at all. The writers have been pretty blatant about what they think of disabled people.
On the topic of James, 1. They wrote their triple amputee character to be coded as losing his humanity. This is suspect from the get go, but writers imo need to be especially careful and sensitive when they display things like villains with prosthetics. CRWBY is not careful and sensitive. 2. They specifically connected the loss of his limb to the loss of his humanity outside of the show, and as you said, his new prosthetic is uncharacteristically uncovered as well, and there were some pointed shots showcasing his arm and emphasizing it before showing Ironwood doing something wrong as well as a shot that particularly bothered me of them having James fall to Winter when his aura broke and then them immediately flashing to a fallen, broken robotic soldier. Tying the loss of someoneâs humanity to them losing a limb / gaining a prosthetic in any way is wrong imo. There are better ways to display someoneâs loss of humanity than villainizing the loss of his arm, and I donât care what justifications people have for âthey just meant to say that he was too impatient to-â Idc. Tying the loss of humanity to the gaining of a prosthetic is wrong. 3. They never once treated Ironwoodâs clear PTSD, history of mental health problems, and trauma with any sympathy, instead spending their time ragging on him for not wanting to feel his pain anymore and condemning him for... Trying to control his emotions. 4. CRWBY also gave him a semblance and explained how it worked by saying he hyper focused, talking about how Jamesâ passive semblance that he canât control forces him to focus on one single goal and fixate. Iâm not disabled, but I do hyper fixate. Itâs not something I can control, and to see it used as a justification for evil (in one of my favorite characters in the series who reminded me of my father lol) and being treated as something bad... It doesnât feel good. I canât imagine how other people must feel who are much more affected by this than I am. 5. As you say, the writers go out of their way to reference his metal body as being more âmachine than manâ and make lines about him being heartless. And yeah, I get that heâs an allegory for the âTin Manâ from Wizard of Oz but ffs the Tin Man had always had a heart and I honestly thought that was what they were going for in V3 with Qrow commenting that sometimes he thought James didnât have a heart and the audience seeing Ironwoodâs actions as questionable, only for the entire show to tell us repeatedly that he actually is a caring and good person whoâs willing to destroy all the forces he was proud to show off if it means saving lives and was actually pretty freaking blameless in the Fall of Beacon and was super kind to the kids and when the chips were down, Qrow and Glynda both absolutely knew without even questioning that James would never ever willingly hurt the world or fully betray them and had absolutely no hand in the Beacon attack. Like, Iâm sorry, but between Penny and Ironwood, season eight is the season of taking well done character allusions and throwing them out the window for the exact opposite moral done incredibly poorly. And anyway, getting off of that rant, making a âmore machine than manâ sentiment tied around a triple amputee character is incredibly harmful and hurtful to people with disabilities and only propagates the real world stereotypes against people like James.
So, yes, their treatment of Ironwood, his mental health, and specifically his disabilities was so badly done, harmful, incredibly insensitive, and frankly, appalling that it came from grown adult writers in 2019-2021! But, as you point out, itâs not just Ironwood. And hereâs where things really get bad for CRWBY. Because Ironwood alone is enough for me to say they were ableist - unintentionally or otherwise - and ought to apologize for the hurt theyâve caused their fans. But when you get into the rest of their treatment of characters with metal prosthetics or non-flesh elements to their body, it becomes a pattern.
Pennyâs entire body is removed from her on threat of death, with the justification that itâs hurting her and that her body is just a machine and not part of who she is, contradicting Pennyâs earlier themes of self-acceptance and validating her humanity in the body she already had. She then dies by assisted suicide in a way that feels unneeded, after having asked to be killed earlier in the narrative. So many people have talked about how destructive her story became in V8 and how it personally hurt them, especially non-binary people, trans people, autistic people, or disabled people who saw themselves in Penny or saw in her arc something that they could relate to, only to have Pennyâs differences stripped away from her, having her conform to normal body standards and have her previous body type invalidated by her friends, and then they had her killed via assisted suicide in an unbelievable way, insisting as well that she never made a choice before she was a flesh-person and couldnât feel things right. Itâs all horribly done, but itâs important to remember that while Ironwood is accused of losing his humanity as he loses a third limb and gets a third prosthetic, Pennyâs earlier validation is taken away and is instead only granted and she is only justified as a person when she loses all her ânuts and boltsâ and becomes a flesh person. And then sheâs killed anyway.
Yangâs prosthetic is the least ill handled, but it is still dismissed as âjust extraâ despite her former fairly strong arc of coming to terms with her disability and making it a part of her. She casually justifies whatâs happening with Penny despite Penny not being in a position of adequate consent. Yangâs trauma and PTSD also vanished when Adam died at the end of season six and in my opinion, that situation was handled very badly.
Maria and Pietro, two other disabled characters, disappeared, left when Amity fell and were not even mentioned iirc since. Not even when Penny is awake, not even when theyâre evacuating, not even when Penny is choosing to die. She never brings up her father. And Rubyâs supposed âmentorâ who never had an actual narrative role that couldnât have been filled by Qrow and has had nothing to do since season six even past that is also forgotten out in the tundra and not mentioned again.
The writers go out of their way to have Winter say that because she was just following orders (a statement that contradicts her previous character imo) and pushing down her emotions, she was the real machine, whereas Penny had been human underneath her apparently easily tossed aside and destructive previous metal body. And I donât know if this means anything, but in that scene where she and Penny meet when Penny is dying and transferring the maiden powers to Winter, Winter is in her V7 character design, instead of wearing her assistive brace. Like I said, I donât know if Iâm reading into that, but with everything else, it feels like an iffy choice.
So yeah. In the past season CRWBY specifically cultivated a pattern of disrespect, dismissal, and villainization of any non-flesh attributes in my opinion. It seems pretty intentional and clear to me, but Iâm willing to accept that maybe this was just a wildly bad uneducated mistake. Hereâs the thing about that, though, after the Faunus/Racism allegory, the CRWBY writers shouldâve learned their lesson and not touched on any real world topics that they werenât willing to do the research on and treat with the sensitivity and care and respect the topics needed. Their Faunus/Racism allegory was harmful and hurtful and frankly couldâve sunk them in the water, they shouldâve learned to put much more care and effort into their work or stayed the hell away from anything that could further spread the negative stereotypes surrounding real world people. But they didnât learn their lesson and theyâve continued to push harmful narratives with no awareness or sensitivity. I donât think youâre over-reacting at all, I think this is something that - intentionally written or otherwise - the writers should be called out on, or theyâre just going to continue writing harmful narratives.
Also, I am not disabled, many of my opinions on the treatment of these characters comes from posts Iâve seen from many disabled or neurodivergent RWBY fans (or former RWBY fans,) or other people more affected by these narratives - minus the thing I said about Winter appearing without her brace when she talks to Penny, as it was something I just noticed while typing out this post. Since Iâm not disabled, Iâm not the best person to talk about these things, so if I got anything wrong in this, anyone more affected, please know you can let me know and I can edit and fix.

7:00 A.M.
the alarm you set for every year at the exact hour goes off at its appointed time, much to your dismay. the mere sound of your phone beeping has a knot forming in your stomach. you wished it would stop, that everything would just stop but that was beyond unrealistic. in fact, you felt foolish for even letting yourself think like that. no matter how badly you wanted things to change, they never would. you would have to endure the same things every year.
you had struggled to fall asleep the night before, that exact thought on your mind and the dread of facing the following day eating away at you. you had only managed to get some rest because of taeyong, who held onto you tightly and caressed your hair as he whispered sweet words to ease you into much needed sleep.
but the day was here now and there was no amount of romantic words or tender touches that would change that. there was absolutely nothing either of you could do about it.
you lean over towards your nightstand to turn off the alarm and taeyong stirs when he feels you begin to shift around in his arms. you lay beside him, staring up at the ceiling as he slowly begins to wake up. he yawns and stretches his limbs out on the mattress which was routinely for him. this would usually be followed by him trying to give you a smooch only for you to squirm away, giggling as you complained about his morning breath.
it is not one of those mornings.
8:09 A.M.
you end up having cereal for breakfast, another big switch up from your routine. normally, you two would browse the internet in search of a recipe that looked promising and try your best to recreate it. you would end up with flour, sugar and dirty dishes all over the place but you never cared. then you would sit at the couch, happily enjoying the finished product and chatting with the tv playing softly in the background.
that morning you sit at the dinner table silently, the cereal in your bowls going soggy before either of you had made a dent in it. you had lost any appetite and from the looks of it so has taeyong.
âyou should eat.â
you glance up at your boyfriend. he isnât eating either, instead he focuses on dipping his spoon into his cereal, bringing it above the bowl only to let it fall back in again. you put your silverware down. âi donât think i can.â
he hums softly, agreeing with you. âare you nervous?â
it went without saying that you were both terrified. but you know heâs just trying to make conversation. you just nod your head anyway. Â
10:31 A.M.
you and taeyong move to sit on the couch, turning on the tv so you donât have to bear anymore uncomfortable silences.
even the newscaster looks down in the dumps, as expected. her voice lacks emotion as she speaks about the forecast, knowing nobody would be taking genuine interest unless it was to get their mind off of the current situation.
what did she expect? the world was restarting, people werenât going to care about the weather.
ânow, for the ongoing events,â says another news anchor. âas we are all well aware of, today is the annual reset. businesses worldwide have closed, most people opting to spend the day with their friends and family and we advise any viewers to do the same. talk to your loved ones about the memories youâve made in the past year and write down the things and people you do not want to forget.â
you turn to taeyong only to find his gaze is already focused on you. you donât hesitate to grab the hand that rests in his lap and intertwined his fingers with yours. neither of you say a word as you go back to watching the television, taeyong giving your hand a reassuring squeeze every so often.
12:46 P.M.
by noon, you and taeyong had begun cleaning your apartment, making sure it was well organized so that the next day you could focus only on getting settled in to your, essentially, new lives. you do the standard dusting and vacuuming along with similar around-the-house chores. while going through the closet, taeyong finds a shoe box full of polaroids you two had taken throughout the years. there are dates and other additional notes scribbled in sharpie on every single picture so your post-reset selves could read about the details of each photo since you would not be able to remember it. he calls out your name, smiling brightly when he sees your face light up as you fondly look over your shared moments.
âiâm so glad we got that camera,â you say, shifting through a stack of the photographs.
he nods. âprobably your best idea yet.â
you find a picture of him giving you a piggyback ride and coo. itâs quite blurry but you can clearly see the huge grins on your faces. âlook at us.â you hand him the photo. âwe look so happy.â
he makes a noise of agreement, staring lovingly at the image. âyou know, every reset weâre supposed to forget everyone and everything but no matter what i can never seem to forget how happy you make me.â
âquit it.â you shove his shoulder, smiling sadly as you attempt to blink away the tears forming in your eyes. âi donât want to cry right now, thereâs still so much work to do.â
âit can wait.â he opens his arms and thatâs all it takes for you to break. you crawl into his embrace, sobbing softly into his chest. it tugs at his heart strings. he tucks his chin above your head but you still notice how his shoulders shake and quiet hiccups escape his lips.
3:28 P.M.
once you and taeyong get tired of being confined to your apartment, you decide to go out for a breath of fresh air. you walk around aimlessly and your final destination turns out to be olympic park. as expected, itâs quite empty since as you had heard on the news, everyone was spending their last couple hours with those they loved in private.
you take in the beautiful scenery and if either you catch sight of a pretty rock or blooming flower, you will stop to pick it up and carefully place it in your pockets for safe keeping. you had found that they served as good reminders of all the time you spent together. in fact, there are many more of these mini souvenirs in your home, decorating your shelves. Â
âhold up,â says taeyong suddenly.
when you look at him his eyes have zeroed in on something on the ground. he kneels down and picks up a smooth rock. you canât help but notice the familiarity of itâs color.
âpretty, right?â he says, dropping the item in the palm of your hand. âit matches your eyes.â
you smile at him, finding his attention to detail incredibly endearing. you hold on to the rock, feeling its curves with your fingers until a cluster of chrysanthemums catches your attention and you have to free up your hands to pick one. you decide on a yellow one and present it to your boyfriend.
âhere,â you say. âfor you.â
âhey, arenât i supposed to be the one giving you flowers?â taeyong asks but he takes it from you anyway.
âyouâre supposed to give flowers to people you like,â you say. âand i like you.â
âyou like me?â he asks, gasping softly. âhow embarrassing.â
you go along with his joke. âdonât you like me too?â
he shakes his head and makes a face. âno way... i love you.â
you shove his shoulder. âso cheesy.â
he canât argue with that so he just nods and chuckles as he tucks the chrysanthemum into his dark locks of hair. at seeing this, you raise the polaroid camera round your neck toward taeyong and he, already used to it, automatically poses for you. he puts his arms over his head, curving them into a kind of crooked heart. he gives an open mouthed smile only resuming to his normal position when he hears the click of the camera. you and him share a laugh once the polaroid picture develops completely.
âoh god, i look ridiculous,â he comments. âplease get rid of that.â
you only give him a sarcastic, âyeah sureâ and continue walking.
you two never got rid of pictures, no matter how ridiculous or unflattering they were. you agreed that every moment you shared counted and deserved to be remembered. Â
although, they never would be.
5:45 P.M.
you chew on the cap of your pen, massaging your aching hand. you had been writing for almost an hour and you had your cramping fingers to prove it. despite the discomfort, you arenât one to break tradition. the âthings i love about youâ list was an ongoing thing you and taeyong had been doing for... ever. they definitely came in handy if either if you wanted to read about what the other was like in past years.
âeverything good over there?â taeyong asks, from the other side of the couch.
you shake your head. âthis is too hard. i have no idea how iâve kept this up for four years.â
he puts a hand over his heart. âwow, iâm that hard to love, huh?â
âyou know thatâs not what i meant,â you say, glaring. âi just have so much stuff to say about you, so much stuff i want future me to know.â
he nods, solemnly. âi get it. i donât want to leave out a thing but itâs kinda hard to fit a yearâs worth of feelings and emotions into a couple pages.â
your let your head fall onto the couch. âwhy do you have to be so lovable?â
taeyong points an accusing finger at you. âi could ask you the same thing! youâre the most wonderful human being on the planet, if i try to write everything i love about you my hand will fall off!â
you sit up to stare at him. he looks genuinely offended by your âwonderfulnessâ. you pick up your pen and paper.
adorably dramatic, you write.
he scoots closer to you, exclaiming, âhey, what did you just put!â
you hug your notepad tightly to your chest. âno peeking!â
7:12 P.M.
your boyfriend hands you his letter with hopeful eyes. unlike the lists that had been made hours earlier, these writings had been in the works for quite some time. there are letters you and taeyong had written for each other dated all the way from 2016. that was also the year the first polaroids you owned were from so you both assumed it was when you had begun dating. if you ever want to have a good cry, all you have to do is find those letters.
in them, there are heartfelt words for the other personâs eyes only describing how they felt around them, why they were so special, among other sentiments. most importantly, though, you always included why you would never forget the other person. of course, one could say how ironic this was considering that forgetting was what the reset was all about but nevertheless, it was reassuring to read. it made your love seem unbreakable; something so strong it defied the impossible. Â
you give taeyong your letter, feeling somewhat nervous. he doesnât hesitate to open the envelope carefully. he slowly removes your letter from inside and you mirror his delicacy. the pair of you sit in absolute silence as you read the words off the pages.
my y/n,
what an amazing year itâs been with you. i know i say that in every letter i write but itâs really true. i never wrote things like this before you came along. only the basicsâmy name, who my parents were, my birthday, etc. you know, things like that. frankly, i had nothing else worth remembering. but now i do. youâre my whole world, the only thing i truly know and i am convinced i could not be any happier or luckier.
i donât know what a life without you is like literally but i wouldnât have it any other way. the situation the world faces with this whole reset mess isnât ideal and iâll oftentimes think of what a normal life would be like. even then, in this perfect universe, youâre still by my side.
i still wake up next to you.
i still spend every waking moment with you.
i still fall asleep with you in my arms.
you are still my everything. i am convinced you always will be.
many people avoid love or close relationships nowadays knowing that at the end of the year itâll all be erased no matter what. how dumb is that? they donât know what theyâre missing out on. having a partner is nothing short of a blessing and youâve taught me that by being with me every step of the way. sure, forgetting our past together doesnât get any easier and neither does writing these letters but iâd write a million of them if thatâs what it took to have you by my side.
i can only hope youâll continue being there for me and give me something worth remembering in future years.
you are the light of my life and i canât wait to fall in love with you again.
yours truly,
taeyong
the tears stroll down your cheeks and drip down on to the paper in your shaky hands. you use your sleeve to try and wipe them away to the best of your ability without smudging the ink. taeyong finishes reading your letter moments later, placing on the coffee table and only staring at you with a distant look in his eyes.
your voice comes out in a whisper. âare you okay?â
he nods, sniffling but his shiny eyes say otherwise. âcan you maybe just... hold me?â his voice cracks along with your heart.
he ends up with his head in your lap, your fingers pulling and tugging at his soft hair. you have a couple hours left but you wouldnât be opposed to leaving the year in this exact position.
11:59 P.M.
taeyong has made it clear he wants you to be the first thing he sees when you enter the new year. so, you spend your last minute getting into a position that will allow that.
you end up sitting sit cross-legged across from him. heâs in the same position and in the small distance between you, your fingers meet. the hold he has on your hands is so tight his knuckles have turned white. his eyes bore into yours and although he doesnât say a word, his hazel orbs let you know itâs all going to be okay. you repeat those words to yourself.
itâs going to be okay.
itâs going to be okay.
itâs going to be okay.
âi love you,â you blurt.
he only has a couple seconds to respond.
âi love you, too. if youâre going to remember one thing, let it be that.â

I made another Snowpiercer playlist!
After posting my Wilford/Audrey playlist a while ago, I added some songs that didnât quite make the cut to a different playlist, intending to put together another similar one. But rather than focusing on just one ship this time, I also ended up getting really interested in theorizing about what Wilfordâs relationship with Melanie might have been like before the Freeze, and exploring the idea that maybe there was something going on there and some kind of love triangle with Audrey.
So hereâs my new playlist, full of absolute jams that could apply to any combination of relationships involving Wilford, Audrey, and Melanie, and/or just general Snowpiercer vibes! Read on for more detail about the songs I selected, and as before, content warning for references to canon abuse & self-harm/suicide.
1. âThe Traditionâ by Halsey
Oh, the loneliĐľst girl in town Was bought for plenty a price Well, they dress her up in golden crowns His smile hides a lie
She smiles back, but it's a fact That her fear will eat her alive Well, she got the life that she wanted But now all she does is cry
Thanks @onetrainsnowpiercerâ for getting me into this excellent album! I thought it would be fitting to kick off the playlist with one that could suit the earlier days of Wilfordâs relationship with Audrey, like my previous playlist was more focused on.
2. âcardiganâ by Taylor Swift
'Cause I knew you Steppin' on the last train Marked me like a bloodstain, I
I knew you Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy, I
I knew you Leavin' like a father Running like water, I And when you are young, they assume you know nothing
Did you think I would make a Snowpiercer playlist without Taylor Swift on it? Not a chance. I picture this one being more from Melanieâs perspective, reflecting on possibly having had some kind of ill-fated romance with Wilford when she was young and naive.
3. âNo Childrenâ by The Mountain Goats
I hope I cut myself shaving tomorrow I hope it bleeds all day long Our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises We're pretty sure they're all wrong
I hope it stays dark forever I hope the worst isn't over And I hope you blink before I do And I hope I never get sober
The only reason this perennial favourite of mine wasnât on the first playlist was that I had too many Mountain Goats songs already and wanted to keep things balanced. But this one got all the ones that didnât make it to the first playlist plus some more I thought about later, so Iâm kind of giving up on that balance by now. They just have a lot of great songs about terrible relationships, and I love them all so much.
4. âGold Guns Girlsâ by Metric
I remember when we were gambling to win Everybody else said, "Better luck next time." I don't wanna bend like the bad girls bend I just wanna be your friend Is it ever gonna be enough?
This is another one that I can picture being about young Melanie, gradually growing more aware of everything thatâs terribly wrong with Wilford and his approach to life, and of how little he cares to try to fix it.
5. âYouâve Haunted Me All My Lifeâ by Death Cab for Cutie
And there's a flaw in my heart's design For I keep trying to make you mine
You've haunted me all my life You've haunted me all my life You are the mistress I can't make a wife And you've haunted me all my life
And this one I can see being Wilford thinking about either one of the women, and his unhealthy attachment to them and inability to keep them around for very longâmaybe once heâs finally reunited with them both on some level in season 2, but still canât fully persuade them both over to his side.
6. âOld College Tryâ by The Mountain Goats
From the cities to the swamplands From the highways to the hills Our love has never had a leg to stand on From the aspirins to the cross-tops to the Elavils
But I will walk down to the end with you If you will come all the way down with me
Another Mountain Goats classic. If you divorce it from its context of being from a concept album about a horrible marriage, I actually think this song is kind of sweet in the way it describes a couple still committing to try to make things work despite a whole host of problems. But never mind that now, because Iâm putting it back in the new context of a whole collection of horrible romantic relationships!
7. âRiskâ by Metric
So you're beaten up but you bounce back Itâs all part of the pull And the story runs like a soundtrack We repeat 'til we're full Started slow, started late Started strong, then we lost faith Started slow, started to lose control The more we accelerate, the more we accelerate
Half of arranging any playlist I make is just trying to split up the Mountain Goats and Metric songs so that they arenât always clumped together. Anyway, this one seems especially fitting to me in its imagery of a speeding vehicle of some kind (itâs a train, Iâm always picturing a train) alongside its description of a relationship going badly.
8. âBig Godâ by Florence + The Machine
You know I still like you the most The best of the best and the worst of the worst Well, you can never know The places that I go I still like you the most You'll always be my favourite ghost
I think this one could be any one of the three of them contemplating their complex feelings about the past at some point around season 2.
9. âI Still Doâ by The Cranberries
I don't want to leave you Even though I have to I don't want to love you Oh, I still do
There arenât as many specifics that match the characters going on in the lyrics here, since itâs more of just a general break-up song, but I also really like the creepy way it sounds.
10. âFault Linesâ by The Mountain Goats
But none of the money we spend Seems to do us much good in the end I got a cracked engine block, both of us do
Yeah, the house and the jewels, the Italian racecar They don't make us feel better about who we are I got termites in the framework, so do you
This one feels really fitting for pre-Freeze Wilford, especially the engine imagery!
11. âI Donât Careâ by Fall Out Boy
Say my name and his in the same breath I dare you to say they taste the same Let the leaves fall off in the summer And let December glow in flames
Erase myself and let go Start it over again in Mexico These friends, they don't love you They just love the hotel suites
Another song that is simply a) an absolute jam, and b) generally fitting for my favourite obscenely rich asshole and his terrible relationships
12. âYou asked for thisâ by Halsey
I want my cake on a silver platter I want a fistful in my hands I want a beautiful boy's despondent laughter I wanna ruin all my plans I want a fist around my throat I wanna cry so hard, I choke I want everything I asked for
This one I can picture as Audreyâor maybe Melanie too, but especially Audreyâbeginning to regret getting involved with Wilford, but only once sheâs in way too deep for leaving to be a safe or easy decision.
13. âmy tears ricochetâ by Taylor Swift
And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed Look at how my tears ricochet
Much like several other Taylor Swift songs, I just know in my heart that itâs the type of music Wilford listens to in secret, while possibly drunk and definitely singing along very dramatically. This one he dedicates to Melanie once theyâve met up again in season 2.
14. âSpeed the Collapseâ by Metric
All the way from where we came Built a mansion in a day Distant lightning, thunder claps Watched our neighbor's house collapse Looked the other way
This one has a lot of good apocalyptic imagery that I can imagine scoring Wilfordâs life in the last few years before the Freeze, as he makes his plans to save himself and let so many others die.
15. âOx Baker Triumphantâ by The Mountain Goats
I will thank my ride and crawl my way back inside To the guts of the building where my enemies Hide in the dark like roaches And I will signal the camera crew and everyone will do What he's been trained how to do Sweat dripping from my face as my moment approaches
Click your heels, count to three I bet you never expected me A little worse for wear Practically walking on air
I love this song a lot, and listening to it lately makes me imagine Wilford plotting his revenge while on his way to catch up with Snowpiercer before the end of season 1.
16. âFirewoodâ by Regina Spektor
The piano is not firewood yet But the cold does get cold So it soon might be that I'll take it apart, call up my friends And we'll warm up our hands by the fire
Don't look so shocked Don't judge so harsh You don't know Youâre only spying Everyone knows it's going to hurt But at least we'll get hurt trying
This has to be one of my favourite songs of all time. Itâs very beautiful, and I love the piano in it. Iâve always personally interpreted it to be at least partially about someone surviving a suicide attempt, and the overall imagery about burning a piano for warmthâand this bit about not judging someone for doing thatâreads to me as more of a general statement about the difficult choices people struggling with mental illness and other similar issues have to make to survive. I listened to it recently and I could picture Audrey singing it in the nightcar. I think it suits her well.
17. âCry for Judasâ by The Mountain Goats
But I am just a broken machine And I do things that I don't really mean Long, black night Morning frost I'm still here But all is lost
I think the imagery of this song suits the show a lot in general, but I can also particularly imagine it being Wilford in a rare moment of self-awareness about how much damage heâs caused to the world and the people around him.
18. âRock ânâ Roll Suicideâ by David Bowie
Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth You pull on your finger, then another finger, then your cigarette The wall-to-wall is calling, it lingers, then you forget Oh oh, oh, oh, you're a rock 'n' roll suicide
I love Wilford a lot. I donât want anything bad to happen to him ever. I hope he kills more people, and I hope he gets his train back, and I hope he wins. But if he does eventually die in the show, I hope heâs found in the bathtub with there being some ambiguity about whether he really killed himself or whether one of his victims turned the tables on him, and I hope the climax of this song swells as the camera pans over his dead body. Thatâs the only Wilford death I will accept, thanks for coming to my TED talk.
19. âSource Decayâ by The Mountain Goats
I park in an alley And I read through the postcards you continue to send Where as indirectly as you can, you ask what I remember I like these torture devices from my old best friend Well, I'll tell you what I know, like I swore I always would I don't think it's gonna do you any good I remember the train headed south out of Bangkok Down toward the water
Okay, I promise this is the last Mountain Goats song on the playlist. Itâs justâitâs perfect. It has a train in it. And on the podcast âI Only Listen To The Mountain Goats,â John Darnielle commented that thereâs barely anywhere you can go south of Bangkok before you hit the water, itâs a train going nowhere, itâs so good. Itâs also one of the songs Iâve previously ripped a line off for my fanfiction titles!
20. âSellers of Flowersâ by Regina Spektor
The sellers of flowers Buy up old roses They pull off dead petals Like old heads of lettuce And sell âem as new ones For cheaper and fairer But they die by the morning So who is the winner? Not the roses Not the buyers Not the sellers Maybe winter
And Regina Spektor closes out the playlist again! This song is another one I picked more on imagery and vibes than anything else. But since itâs about a young child in a world that seems to be moving inexorably toward an all-consuming winter, if it suits any of the characters, maybe itâs an appearance of Alex here at the end!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the playlist!

Wandersong character rambles 1 of 3: Kiwi
Wandersong is so incredibly good that I need to get all my Thoughts about it off my chest by writing a series of rambles analysing its three most important characters. There will be spoilers, obviously. Plus, thisâll probably be kind of hard to follow anyway for people who havenât played the game. Go play Wandersong! You wonât regret it.
(For anyone unaware, Kiwi is the bardâs canon name. It doesnât feel right at all just calling them âthe bardâ for this; it makes them seem like just a simple caricature and not a complex and fully-rounded person with issues. Since part of their issues are specifically about wanting to be seen as more than just a silly happy bard, I want to do right by them and call them by an actual name. I was tempted to use âLuteâ, the name given to them by the Letâs Play that introduced me to this game, which I still kind of think of them as, but I really should use the name that others reading this post are more likely to be familiar with. So, theyâre Kiwi.)
2 of 3: Miriam
3 of 3: Audrey
Hero issues
Kiwi spends a lot of the story being bothered by the feeling of not being a hero like they so badly wish they could be. Although they hide it and keep being their usual cheerful self on the surface most of the time, the few times they end up talking about this, they lament how theyâre not a hero at all, theyâre nobody, nothing they do matters. Which is heartbreaking to see â because, really, itâs so obvious the whole time to everyone except Kiwi themselves that, even without the Earthsong, theyâre already every bit the hero they want to be.
They may not be your typical action hero with cool powers like Audrey, and Miriam may also have powers and be better at the logistical side of things in terms of flying them places and knowing where to go next. But those arenât the only things that matter! Kiwi is a different kind of hero who focuses on people, on understanding and helping and inspiring them. They make at least a small difference to so many peopleâs lives, just through talking and singing and caring about everyone!
During Act 3, after getting super excited at the idea of going on this heroic quest and being the destined hero who would bring back the mermaids, Kiwi ended up being really disappointed when they realised they werenât going to bring the mermaids back and be that great hero after all. But ultimately, they did the right thing and respected the mermaidsâ wishes rather than shallowly trying to make themselves look cool. They put othersâ feelings above their own â which was the far more meaningfully heroic thing to do in that situation. (And I imagine that Audrey would have done the exact opposite.)
And donât even get me started on the BUGS, which were the absolute perfect way to show just how instinctively Kiwi cares about everyone and everything, no matter how seemingly insignificant. With all the reminders that the Earthsong has never ever worked before, itâd be easy for Kiwi saving the world in the end to feel cheap and unearned. But the narrative does a great job of building up, through so many little things, that if anyone is capable of actually bringing the world together in harmony through music and connecting with everyone like they need to for the song to work, itâs Kiwi. They get it more than anyone else does. (And, well, technically it wasnât the Earthsong they sung in the end, but the Wandersong succeeded in saving everyone because of the exact same principle.)
Another obviously-heroic thing about Kiwi is how determined they are, even when things seem almost hopeless. The only point at which they ever truly gave up on their quest was very briefly after the Queen of Chaos died, since they believed collecting the Earthsong had just become completely impossible. But as soon as Miriam reminded them that they can talk to ghosts and therefore thereâs still at least a tiny chance, Kiwi got right back up and kept trying, and they never stopped again, no matter how small and overwhelmed and unheroic they felt. Which just makes them even more amazing â thereâs nothing truly impressive about heroic feats if the âheroâ finds them easy.
I grew more and more attached to Kiwi throughout their adventure for all of these reasons and more. Theyâre just so good! I was so, so invested in seeing them finally realise how much of a hero they were and become as proud of themselves as they deserved to be.
And, well⌠that part of the story ended up being a lot more understated than I was expecting. Itâs only in their final speech trying to get through to Audrey that Kiwi expresses something to this effect: the notion that her being âthe Heroâ is just a meaningless title, and that if she worked with them to try and actually save the world and do the right thing, thatâs what would make her a real hero.
It was probably spending so much time being jealous of Audreyâs powers and chosen-ness, yet frustrated about the way she insistently did the opposite of saving the world despite this, that led Kiwi to realise that the kind of person who shoots lightning first and asks questions later is, in fact, not at all the kind of âHeroâ that truly counts as one. That really, itâs way more important to actually try and do the right thing, even if youâre just an ordinary person without goddess-given cool powers.
This is all directed at Audrey, though; Kiwi never applies those ideas to themselves. Still, the fact that theyâre able to say that at all proves that they have finally figured out what really, meaningfully makes someone a hero, so presumably theyâre not going to be feeling insignificant over not being one any more, even aside from the part where they really did end up saving the world.
But maybe itâs appropriate that Kiwi never quite has that explicit realisation moment of âI guess this means I really am a hero after allâ. Because this isnât about them. Being a real hero means making things about everyone other than yourself. And since Kiwi genuinely is this kind of hero, they wouldnât make things about themselves like that. So even though this wasnât quite how I was expecting things to go, maybe itâs how it always should have gone after all.
âŚOr, perhaps, itâs because Kiwi is too selfless, and they just donât think their own feelings about wishing they were a hero are important enough to bring up and address at all. Not in this moment, or in any moment in general.
Too selfless
Thatâs the other aspect of Kiwiâs issues. They share their happiness and good feelings all the time because it helps people, which is a lot of why theyâre able to be such a good hero! But theyâre so selflessly focused on helping others that it begins to be kind of unhealthy towards themselves. Sharing their bad feelings doesnât help anyone (or so they assume), so they just⌠donât.
Kiwi didnât truly get over their moping about not being the hero for several acts. Rather, in their own admission, they just stopped thinking about it. They started focusing instead on the things they could be happy about, like having managed to help Miriam and the people of Chismest. But they didnât ever deal with their own problem; they pushed it aside and ignored it. Thatâs⌠not actually a healthy coping mechanism.
Miriam comments in the dancing conversation that Kiwi makes it look like itâs so easy to just be happy, and they unthinkingly respond with, âIt is!â. And then itâs only after some more prodding from her that they admit⌠maybe it isnât; maybe they actually have to try really hard to ignore the things that make them feel sad. But theyâre so used to suppressing their bad feelings, so stuck on the thought that they should just be happy all the time, that theyâve even suppressed the fact that itâs hard for them to do that.
In particular, Kiwi calls their bad feelings ânot importantâ â even though they readily acknowledge that Miriamâs bad feelings, and everyone elseâs, obviously are important and worth talking about, because itâll help them! But apparently, their own bad feelings are the sole exception to that. Kiwi is the one person who doesnât need to be helped, according to Kiwi themselves. They exist to help other people feel happy, and their own bad feelings wonât do that, so those feelings donât matter.
When Kiwi empathised with the bugs being small and insignificant, it read a lot to me like that came so naturally to them because part of them feels the same way sometimes. Not necessarily about their singing and their happiness, since they recognise the value of that. Rather, itâs as if the part of them that feels bad things has been horribly suppressed and smothered and treated as unimportant by the rest of them for their whole life. Which is incredibly sad and not okay!
After sort of confronting some of this during their conversation with Miriam near the end, Kiwi admits, âIâm the crazy oneâ. And perhaps theyâre not precisely wrong to say this â turns out theyâre pretty messed up, actually. These kind of issues could simply be put down to âbecause they really are just that painfully selflessâ â and, I mean, Kiwi is â but in their case, thereâs actually a little more to it.
Parent issues
The short of it all is that this is Kiwiâs parentsâ fault.
Recall the beginning of Act 4. Kiwi has just been laid up in bed for probably a day or two because they were struck by lightning and seriously injured. Even though theyâre finally well enough to walk around again, theyâre obviously still feeling very down about something. Yet their own mother doesnât ask how theyâre doing, doesnât wonder whatâs wrong, doesnât offer to listen if they want to talk about it. All she says to them is, âdonât go out looking like that; youâd look cuter if you smiledâ.
Which, when you stop and think about it, is really rather messed up. Especially knowing from later parts of the game that Kiwi has issues with expressing their negative emotions and feels like all they should ever be doing is spreading happiness for everyone elseâs sake.
(Their mom is perfectly satisfied with their obviously-forced smile, too, apparently not registering that if they canât even muster a real smile right now then things must be seriously bad. As a neat detail, Kiwi will only put up the forced smile in their momâs house, dropping it as soon as theyâre not looking at her and putting it back up only if they turn to face her. Seems like they fully expect to be nagged by her all over again if they dare to not smile in her presence.)
I found this family interaction vaguely odd and questionable already during my first time seeing Act 4. What really clinched things for me, though, was the casual reveal during the credits that, oh, hey, the Baron from the factory â you know, the guy who was trying to force artificial happiness upon the whole town and only making everyone more miserable in the process â was actually Kiwiâs dad.
So, that Happy Kid toy he was making, which was (in theory) supposed to be a fountain of pure joy that would bring happiness to everyone who owned one? All those sales pitches for it sure hit different when you know that its creator is Kiwiâs father, who was almost certainly basing the toy off of his own literal happy kid. Happy Kid exists to make everyone happy! Everyone loves Happy Kid! Every family wants a Happy Kid! (And nobody cares about how Happy Kid actually feels inside. Thatâs not important.)
When they were little, Kiwi probably was genuinely quite a cheerful kid in the first place, someone who could make others smile just by being around them. Which apparently inspired their father to disappear and devote his life to spreading an embodiment of that joy to even more people, in theory creating happiness for everyone⌠except Kiwi themselves.
Little Kiwi was probably pretty sad about it at first. Their dad just up and disappeared one day, after all! But it seems like their mom agreed with her husbandâs philosophy of how their kid should just be nothing but a wonderful fountain of happiness for others, so she encouraged Kiwi to suppress that sadness and all but forget they were ever upset about anything. When commenting in the ending that they donât even remember what their dad looks like, Kiwi doesnât seem sad about it at all. They donât even seem to realise that not remembering oneâs own father is objectively kind of a sad thing, even though theyâre perfectly capable of recognising that Miriam being straight-up abandoned by her parents is sad.
I donât think it would be wrong to say that Kiwiâs parents genuinely love their child, in some sense of the word. But my god, making things about everyone except Kiwi themselves was precisely the wrong way to express that, and Kiwi grew up pretty messed up as a direct result of this.
At some point seemingly a decent while before the beginning of the game, Kiwi moved out of their momâs house and got their own place near Langtree. And I donât think Kiwi quite consciously realises why they wanted to move out. That would require them to be able to acknowledge negative thoughts involving awkwardness and discontent with their family that theyâve been conditioned for a lifetime to suppress. In the credits, when their mom wishes they would come back and live with her (and their dad) again, Kiwi just says âNo,â with no elaboration as to why not. They donât mention that they feel really at home in Langtree, and they certainly donât express the idea that maybe they kinda donât like it in Chismest. Thereâs so much not being said about how weird and awkward and not-okay their whole family situation is, because Kiwi has unconsciously learned to not think about any of it at all.
The climax of Act 4âs mini-story, the scene in the factory where everyone confronts the Baron with the sentiment of, âhey, your forced attempt to make people happy is actually just making us all way more miserable beneath it, please stopâ⌠thereâs no way thatâs not also a metaphor for exactly the kind of thing Kiwi themselves should be confronting their parents about. The Baron says after accepting his mistake that heâs got a lot he needs to think about â and he sure does. Not just regarding his town, but regarding his kid. The real one. Hopefully he can figure this out himself, and maybe share that revelation with his wife. But still, I worry that this bizarre couple might need someone to tell them this⌠and Kiwi, on their own, doesnât seem likely to do that.
Miriam is the best
Good thing Kiwi has Miriam! She is the absolute perfect person to gradually become their best friend over the course of their adventure. And this isnât just because the two of them can relate to each other over feeling inferior hero-wise, or being outsiders, or having difficulty opening up about certain feelings.
More than any of that, itâs because Miriam just so happens to be someone who is only helped and inspired by Kiwi once she becomes aware that theyâre not perfect. In order to help her, like they always want to do, they have to actually talk about their not-so-positive feelings for once.
I cannot overstate how much I absolutely love this. It is exactly what Kiwi needed to stop being quite so painfully selfless and finally begin to become more comfortable with opening up about their own bad feelings.
For the first three acts, Miriam will get mad if you sing within earshot of her. She stops doing this from Act 4 onwards (except for a single screen in Act 5 when sheâs upset about her broom having just been blown up). So itâs not that she has a problem with Kiwiâs singing in and of itself. I think what really frustrates her about it is that itâs Kiwi being so loudly and obviously happy around her. It must feel like theyâre just rubbing it in how easy it is for them to be perfectly happy all the time. Thatâs bound to sting when being happy isnât remotely that easy for Miriam â so naturally, she responds by getting angry, which is her go-to way of covering up her painful feelings.
Itâs only in Act 4 once she sees first-hand that Kiwi doesnât always find it so easy to be happy that Miriam appears to realise that their singing isnât them trying to be obnoxious about it at all. Now that she knows theyâre not perfect, itâs easier for her to understand that theyâre genuinely doing it to try and help people rather than just to show off. (Perhaps sometimes Kiwi even needs to sing like that to help themselves feel happy in the first place.)
During their conversation in Act 4 as Kiwi convinces Miriam to help take down the factory, Miriam initially refuses out of bitterness. She feels inferior and useless next to Kiwi, whoâs been going around seemingly-effortlessly getting all these Overseer songs and Earthsong pieces and generally just being way better at this than her (and why are they even moping about anything when theyâre obviously so good at this?). Itâs only once Kiwi admits that they feel similarly inferior after having seen that Audreyâs the real Hero that Miriam reluctantly agrees to help. Maybe Kiwi isnât quite as frustratingly perfect as sheâd thought; maybe the two of them have a little in common after all. From this point on, the pair finally start to feel like genuine comrades who are in this together and can gradually begin to become friends.
In the dancing scene in Mohabumi, Miriam manages to admit that she admires Kiwi for how they never stop trying. But as part of this, she makes a point that this is despite them being in way over their head with all this saving the world stuff, and thatâs whatâs really inspiring about them. Knowing that Kiwi isnât perfect and is struggling with stuff makes them more inspiring to Miriam, not less! (âŚAlmost like a hero? Like maybe theyâre actually a much better hero than someone like Audrey, who really is apparently perfect? (Sheâs not, of course, but thatâs a matter for another post.))
Then thereâs their conversation in Langtree just before the end, in which Kiwi eventually admits (after quite some prodding) that they find it hard to share their feelings just like Miriam does, at least if theyâre bad ones. They assume sharing their bad feelings wonât help anyone â and I adore Miriam immediately countering that it would help *her*. It only exacerbates her inferiority complex to be around someone who appears so perfect all the time, making her feel even more useless and broken by comparison. Seeing that actually Kiwi is also just a human being with flaws and struggles â thatâs what Miriam needs, to know that sheâs not so alone with her problems, and that if her friend can keep trying their hardest to overcome them anyway, maybe she can, too.
Miriam is the best, and this kind of thing is exactly what a too-selfless hero like Kiwi who hides their problems too much for the sake of others deserves to hear. I very much hope that this is the beginning of Kiwi making an effort to express more than just happiness more often, because they need that. Even if they feel at first that theyâre doing it more for Miriamâs sake than their own, at least theyâre doing it at all.
I strongly headcanon that at some point after the ending, while hanging out together being friends and occasionally talking about heavier stuff such as their family situations, Kiwi and Miriam figure out between them why Kiwi is so bad at talking about their negative feelings â that thereâs a tangible reason for them being kind of messed up like this. And then Miriam encourages them to embrace those painful, complicated feelings about their parents and lean in to the frustration, because they have a right to be angry about all this. (Sheâs bad at expressing her feelings, too, but at least she seems to have experience with the idea that getting angry and frustrated can be a helpful way to vent about things that upset you. Being at least a little more like that might be healthy for Kiwi as they get to grips with expressing things that arenât happiness.)
So Miriam flies Kiwi over to Chismest so that they can finally confront their parents and be all, âhey, itâs your fault Iâm kind of messed up and Iâm not happy about it, and I just wanted you to know thatâ. Then hopefully their parents can reflect on that and maybe try and learn to actually put their kidâs feelings first for once. And Kiwi⌠still wonât necessarily quite feel better, because things donât just magically become happy like that, but at least theyâll have let out their feelings about all this at last, and thatâs good.
Kiwiâs name?
âŚOkay, so this last part here is some wilder theorising that Iâm much less sure is likely to be what the writer intended. But I still find it interesting to think about.
One bit of dev commentary mentions that no two characters in the game address the bard the same way, which I guess is a fun detail in terms of the wide variety of nicknames that different characters use for them. But what it also incidentally means, and I donât know if the effect of this is deliberate or not, is that Miriam is the only person who uses Kiwiâs actual name.
This kind of feels appropriate at a glance, what with how Miriam is the only person who really gets to know Kiwi as a person and comes to understand their deeper insecurities, while everyone else just sees the cheerful, carefree bard they appear to be on the surface.
But itâs also a little strange, because youâd think certain people other than Miriam should know Kiwiâs name. The people of Langtree should, surely, if Kiwiâs been living with them for a while and is considered part of the town by now? The villagers all address each other by name, for the most part, so why should Kiwi be an exception? Then thereâs Kiwiâs own mother, who, sure, has a pet name for them, but it also reads as slightly odd that she never uses their actual name even once. It just adds a little more to the pile of weird awkwardness that this family already is.
So, hereâs the wild theory: Kiwiâs name wasnât even Kiwi until they were asked by Miriam and Saphy to give their name. They have a birth name that their mother gave them, but due to all the unspoken awkwardness with their family situation, they didnât really want to bring that name with them to Langtree when they moved out. Itâs effectively a deadname (âŚnot that I think theyâd quite word it that way to themselves, because thatâd require openly acknowledging the bad feelings involved). They just never gave a name to the villagers in Langtree when introducing themselves, and said villagers never asked, either. Both parties were happy to simply use variations on âthe bardâ.
Then, when Miriam and Saphy actually did outright ask the bard for their name, because they didnât want to give their deadname, they had to literally make up a new name on the spot.
The way in which the game makes you name the bard is really unique. It doesnât give you freedom over a full keyboard of letters, so the naming process is a lot more haphazard and improvised than naming a player character usually is. Youâre likely to initially land on a name that sounds silly and not right, then have to reject it and try a few more times until you get something youâre happy with, something that seems to fit for the character youâve spent a whole act with by now.
Assuming you do take multiple tries, Miriam even has a line of dialogue commenting on how strange it is that the bard needed several tries just to say their own name. Then thereâs her âWelcome to the âteamâ, âKiwiâ,â with quotation marks on not just the âteamâ (because Miriam is not happy about working with them), but also on the name, as if sheâs extremely sceptical over whether thatâs even their real name at all. Like it sounds like they just made it up on the spot â and this happens even if you do come up with it in one try.
Again, Iâm not sure whether this is writer-intended; it could be just a coincidental side effect of the way the character-naming system is creatively integrated with the note wheel. But take the player out of the equation and view that scene at face value as something that really happened that way in-universe, and suddenly it reads a lot like the bard is coming up with a name for themselves off the top of their head!
The only other in-universe explanation is that Kiwi is just being silly and giving random letter-smushes as their supposed name before telling the truth, as⌠a joke? But thatâs not even a great joke, not to mention just kind of rude to these people who are asking to work together with them. It doesnât quite seem in character for Kiwi to do that.
âŚMind you, they probably wanted Miriam and Saphy to think that the failed names were just some kind of weird joke. Actually admitting to any hint of the awkwardness with their family would never have crossed their mind as an option, because theyâre supposed to be perfect and happy all the time, right? So, no, um, itâs actually totally normal to make several fake joking suggestions before telling someone your own name, and also to have a name that maybe possibly just came from you randomly picking your favourite fruit or something. Itâs fine, theyâre Kiwi now (they guessâŚ?), and they donât have any problems whatsoever. They want to help these new friends of theirs save the world, and having problems of their own would just get in the way of that.
Miriam probably did write it off as weird joking, but if we read this scene in a completely in-universe way, I think Saphy might have actually figured out what was really going on here. Sheâs the one who asks to confirm each time if this really is the bardâs name, which gives them the opportunity to back out and pick a different one if theyâre not happy with this one. It reads like she knows exactly what theyâre doing and is being understanding and patient, while also not prying into why theyâre coming up with a new name here when they obviously donât want to talk about it. Then, once the bard settles on something, she says, âWhat a wonderful name!â, like she wants to help them feel comfortable in the name they just picked for themselves. Saphy is good.
After the ending, as Kiwi has grown more comfortable with talking about their issues to Miriam, I imagine theyâd confess to this at some point â but Iâm sure theyâd also decide that theyâve come to be quite happy with their new name by now. Itâs what their best friend Miriam knows them as, after all, and thatâs whatâs most important.

Anyway,  I hope you like it, my dear Witchlings! đ
I present you: NURSE GERALT! Â
Chapter 1 Word Count: 2461
ao3: (x)Â
Chapter 2 Tumblr link: (x) Chapter 3 Tumblr link: (x) Chapter 4 Tumblr Link: (x)
When Geralt arrives for his shift, still feeling exhausted from yesterday, he has no idea whatâs waiting for him at the hospital. His days are never too ordinary because you never know what youâll come across.
Thatâs a part of being a nurse.
But he could never think that one of the not-so-famous musicians, his daughter, Ciri adores, was going to have a terrible traffic accidentâwhich somehow isnât on the newsâand end up in the hospital he works at.
He already knows his name since Ciri just canât stop talking about how nice he is and how he sounds like an angel. To the point where sometimes Geralt wants to say âOkay he is wonderful, so kind and lovely and you really love him, I get it. Can you please just keep eating your pasta? Yes Ciri, yes, I know that pasta is his favorite food, you say that every time weâre having pasta. â
Geralt isnât there for his intake, apparently, the accident happened last night, and the musician was badly injured.
Jaskier has a ruptured spleen that caused internal hemorrhaging, which the doctors were able to repair. He also has a mild concussion, a couple of broken ribs, along with some cuts and a broken leg which he is probably going to need another surgery for.
Since the other nurse who was responsible for Jaskier last night, Â is having some family issues and has to take his annual leave, Jaskier is in Geraltâs care now, they let Geralt know.
When Geralt is home, Ciri starts talking about how Jaskier hadnât posted anything in two days, and how worried she is since Jaskier had promised them a new song, âHe never breaks his promises,â she says.
Geralt thinks that keeping the fact that the young man was in a traffic accident to himself is a better idea.
***
Three days later, when Geralt cracks open the door to Jaskierâs room, the man still sounds asleep, his chest rising and falling with every slow breath he takes as the morphine keeps dripping into his system. Itâs enough to keep him subdued, if not completely pain-free.
He checks his IV, and takes a few notes onto his clipboard, right before the musician comes to, his eyelids fluttering.
And damn if he hasnât got the most breathtaking eyes he has ever seen in his whole life. Even when they lack the spark Geralt is sure they normally hold in them.
Jaskier is confused, of course. So he tells him about what has happened and clears his throat before speaking.
âMr. Pankratz, I need to take your vitals and then give you some medicines for the pain, may I have your arm?â
âHell you can, might as well take my poor heart that seems to be beating forââ Â Jaskier flirts and coughs before he has the chance to finish, his voice is low and hoarse from lack of use.
Geralt makes no comments, and fills a cup of water for him instead, helping him to drink it. He is surprised by the musicianâs flattering words, and he is also glad that he is good at keeping a neutral expression on his face. Â
ââŚyou.â He finishes. âWell, I would normally use the âam I dead and in Heaven?â clichĂŠ, but, see,â Jaskier keeps talking after sipping some water âIâm in too much pain to think that Iâm in heaven. You sure look like a sexy angel or something though.  Ohoho, are you gonna give me a sponge bath, too? Just wondering. If so, Iâm totally down for it. Just so you know.â
Geralt canât help but snort at that a bit, âDo you always talk that much?â
âMaybe itâs you who doesnât talk enough, you ever considered that?â Jaskier teases, and then suddenly his whole playful expression changes like he remembered that he had left his cat on the stone, and he frowns to himself, âOh God, three days you said? Shitshitshit,â he drops his head back onto his pillows in a way too dramatic manner, covering his eyes with one hand âI had promised them a new song,â the nurse hears him mumbling âI am such an idiot.â
Jaskier truly seems so disappointed in himself that Geralt feels the need of comforting him. The man had a traffic accident, for crying out loud!
And yet, he is concerned for his fans because he couldnât keep his promise, rather than being worried for himself.
Not even an hour has passed since he had the chance to talk to the man, but he already can see why Ciri likes this guy that much.
âItâs not your fault that some idiot decided that running a red light and colliding with your car was a good idea,â Geralt says âdonât beat yourself up over it.â
Jaskier still seems disappointed, but he mumbles a silent 'thank youâ before he says â you may be right, but I promised them.â
***
Days go like this: Jaskier keeps flirting with him every time Geralt steps into his room to check on him and give him his medicines. Geralt never flirts back because of obvious reasons, but he never tells him to stop either, even though he does judge him with his eyes now and then.
The moments Geralt can spend with the man is the most he feels happy at work.
He canât even deny that at this point.
Ciri keeps asking him why he looks happier nowadays, and why he suddenly became clumsy all of a sudden because he loses his focus easily.
âWho is the reason behind your smile? I gotta know! Câmon, itâs not fair! Donât leave me hanging like this!â Â She insists, being the stubborn girl she is, and after a second she grins like cheshire cat âYouâve finally met someone special?â
ââŚI might have, pumpkinâ  is his answer. âI might have.â
***
He doesnât know why, but Geralt doesnât like Thursdays. Well, itâs probably because everything bad has ever happened to him seemed to happen on Thursdays, usually.
And sadly, this Thursday is no exception.
Hank, a seventy years old man who has been here for more than a month, and who has been very ill passes away. Who he had become really close with and really cared about.
Jaskier catches his change of mood when he goes to check on him and simply says, âTalk to me. I mean, you donât have to. But you look like you could use a friend. And Iâm so bored of watching television anyway.â
So Geralt talks to him.
He talks about Hank, about how wise he was. He talks about how he has been working here for years but how it still affects him so much when someone passes away. How he doesnât suppose to feel a connection with his patients, how terrible of a nurse that makes him.
âThat makes you human, not a terrible nurse.â Jaskier assures him, his voice as gentle as always. âBelieve me. I wouldnât lie to you.â
Geralt isnât sure when Jaskierâs hand finds his hand as they talk, and when his dainty looking, long fingers link with his; but the intimate gesture feels so natural, so right that he just lets him.
***
Jaskier has surgery for his right leg the next day, and itâs not the first time that Geralt hears his patients saying the most ridiculous things after their surgery, thanks to the sedation.
But oh boy, if Jaskier doesnât take it to a whole new level.
âMaaarry meee, my dear nurse!â the musician yells, âwe could make the most adorable babies together! One of them would have my voice, one of them would have your weirdly sexy brooding or something. One of them would have myâŚ. my tongue?  Or eyes? Cheeks! Yes, cheeks. And the other would have your lips while the other would have your⌠DIMPLE! I love that cute dimple you have on your jaw! â
Geralt laughs, because how can he not?
âThatâs biologically impossible.â the nurse says. âAlso how many kids you have in mind? That was awfully a lot.â
âHmm, letâs see. Marie, Duchess,â Jaskier starts to count with his fingers, and he looks so damn adorable that Geralt finds it extremely hard to not just reach out and ruffle his hair. âThomas O'Malley, Toulouse, and Berlioz. So, six!â
âItâs five, actually,â Geralt tilts his head to the side slightly and corrects him with a fond, little smile. âSo⌠youâre planning to name your kids after The Aristocats?â
âOur kids, mind you. And Iâm not straight, love. You canât expect me to do the math, I donât make the rules.â
Love.
He just called Geralt âloveâ
âHe probably calls âloveâ everyone,â the nurse reminds himself and swallows, not being able to focus on what Jaskier says for a minute or so. âYouâre no special.â
But the way Jaskier utters that one word, makes him feel like he is lying to himself.
When he can finally focus on what he is saying, Â Jaskier is still talking about the same topic.
ââŚand you should be grateful that Iâm not planning to name them after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! If weâre gonna have more than six, Iâm totally doing that though.â
âWhy Mr. Pankratz, weâre not even married yet. But I already donât have a say in anything, it seems.â Geralt canât help but tease with the young man in return.
Jaskier waves one hand weakly: âDonât take this as my marriage proposal though, Iâm better than that. If I were to propose to you I would do that in the most wonderful way. Roses, candles, and everything. Even fireworks.â
Geralt remains silent, so Jaskier talks again: âAnd ya know, joking aside, actually we couldnât name them unless we adopted them when they were babies.â
âWhy do you want so many kids?â the nurse wonders, raising an eyebrow.
âWell, growing up in a foster care system will do that to you,â Jaskier lets out a loud and somehow cute yawn.
Geralt knows that he wasnât even supposed to ask that, and he shouldnât even listen to Jaskier rambling about his life, which he wonât even remember after the sedative effect wears off.
But he canât suppress his need of knowing more about him.
He just canât.
âWanna adopt as many kids as I can, so I can provide âem a life filled full of love and everything they deserve. All the beautiful things in the universe. All the things I couldnât have when I was a kid.â Jaskier admits, and his words make Geraltâs heart clench in his chest.
At that moment, Geralt is sure that he is falling so hard for the musician.
Maybe he already did.
âDonât think that Iâm not gonna name our dogs after them though. Or cats.â Jaskier mumbles. He looks like he is just two seconds away from falling into a deep sleep.
Right when he moves to leave, Jaskier grabs his hand as he softly, sweetly whispers, âGeralt, donât leave me.â And he sounds so vulnerable, so weak that the nurseâs heart skips a beat in his chest.
Geralt would love to say that he doesnât leave all night, but he has other patients he needs to check on, so he leaves.
But not before staying for five minutes as he holds the musicianâs hand, and watches him fall asleep. Nobody needs to know, right?
***
The next day, Jaskier doesnât remember most of the things he had said last night, but somehow he remembers that Geralt had stayed for a while.
That day, feeling guilty about yesterday, Geralt talks about his life.
âItâs only fair,â he thinks.
He talks about Ciri, and he lets the musician know how crazy his daughter is about him. That makes Jaskier smile at him warmly, but then again, his smile is always like this.
Warmer than the sun on a hot summer day.
Blushing, Jaskier hesitantly says that he would love to meet her. His big, baby blue eyes seem to be searching for something in Geraltâs eyes.
And Geralt understands that he finds whatever he was searching for when Geralt nods and says: âWe would love that, too.â
***
âLook! Jaskier finally posted something!â Ciri says one morning while they are having breakfast, well, more like Ciri is having breakfast, and Geralt is just busy with his coffee since he is in a hurry.
âHmm?â
âWait, was this an âIâm Actually Curious About What You Have To Sayâ type of âhmmâ? Because it definitely didnât sound like your usual âI Donât Careâ type of âhmmâ. Nice! That might be the first time you actually seem curious about what I have to say about him.â Ciri smiles, and lets out a sad, little âOh.â After reading whatever Jaskier had posted.
âHe says that he is having some minor health issuesâŚâ
Geralt huffs at that.
âMinor health issuesâ
If what he had gone through is âminorâ to Jaskier, Geralt doesnât even want to imagine what âmajor health issuesâ Â mean in his dictionary.
But he is sure that the only reason why the musician says âminorâ is because he doesnât want to worry his fans.
ââI am in good hands thoughâI mean it, really really good handsâso no need to worry. Love you all, xoxoâ Hmm⌠I hope itâs nothing serious.â
The nurse looks at his daughterâs phone screen and the excessive amount of winking face emojis after âreally really good handsâ part catches his attention.
He tries to hide his smile behind his black coffee mug.
And luckily, he succeeds.
***
A few days later, itâs time for Jaskier to be discharged from the hospital. And Geralt feels a bit sad about it, to be honest. Because he is already used to having the young man around.
To his never-ending flirting and jokes, to his smile, to his everything.
But the good thing is, that means that he will be no longer his patient.
Jaskier gives him his number before he leaves, and tells Geralt to call him whenever he is free.
âIâm totally getting into another accident and make sure they bring me here if you donât call, Mr. Handsome Nurse,â the musician jokes in a low voice.
âWe wouldnât want that now, would we?â Geralt smiles. âYou can be sure that Iâll call, Jaskier. And we can even have some pasta maybe.â
Itâs the first time that Geralt calls him by his first name, and the nurse can see how the other manâs smile widens when he does that, eyes sparkling.
âWow. Now I have no doubt about how much Ciri talks about me,â scratching the back of his head, Jaskier chuckles shyly, and itâs music to his ears. Ciri is right. He does sound like an angel.
"Till we meet again, Geralt. Till we meet again.â

1:47 AM
Genre: Angst
Pairing: Jennie x Female Reader
Word Count: 2,472
Part: 1
Something was off. You couldnât put your finger on it but something had definitely changed. She no longer responded to your messages within minutes. Sheâd give excuses when you asked to Facetime. She worked late into the night. Your mind raced, trying not to jump to conclusions. Your mind flashed back to all of her affirmations of love.Â
I love you...
Iâll never leave youâŚ
Youâre my soulmate...
You held onto those words, praying that the next time you met that sheâd have an explanation for her behavior. The history between you two goes way back. You were her first relationship, her first love. You watched her grow into the headstrong idol she is today.
Though she was busy pursuing her dreams, she always made time for you. Sheâd cancel on her members and stay up late hours on the phone with you. Sheâd sneak out to just get boba in the middle of the night. The rare moments where you felt broken she was always there. The times where she couldnât be she sent all of your favourite things: cookies, stuffed animals and the occasional Tiffany bracelet. You hated when she spent all her money on you but she was insistent on spoiling you and treating you like a princess.Â
The more you reminisce on the past, the more you realized how beautiful the past three years had been. From what you thought was only going to be one night stand turned into a full three year relationship hidden from the cameras. No one could have predicted youâd both ended up here. When it finally happened, you were both in a state of bliss. A cheesy confession after a passionate session of love making. Could you two get any more stereotypical. You were the first to make the move to something deeper. It took her time but eventually Jennie allowed herself to feel love. After all of the struggle you had been through individually and as a couple, There was nothing that could have broken you apart.Â
This made Jennie's recent actions over the past few weeks even more odd. You laid on your bed confused. Why the sudden change? The one person who you would turn to wasnât available yet posted about a new endorsement on Instagram. You slammed your Macbook closed in frustrationâa gift she gave you.Â
âWhat the fuck?â you screamed as you stared at the ceiling. Â
âHey, Let's talk it out now.â You almost forgot you had your friend listening to you on speaker phone nearby. You were so used to just speaking with no one around. âHave you tried to contact her members? What about Nayeon or Yeri?Â
âThey all are being just as shady as she is. But can I really be mad at them? Even if sheâs cheating, why would they tell me? Theyâre her friends before theyâre mine anyway...âÂ
You held back tears as you spoke the possibility of your girlfriend cheating into existence.Â
âHave you tried reaching out to Kai?âÂ
Kim Jongin. Kai. The Dance King of one of the most popular kpop groups ever. He had drop dead gorgeous looks and public approval that you couldnât compete with. You hated the idea when it was first brought up by YG. your mind thought back to that horrible day.
Jennie shuffled in the bed, disrupting the peaceful after-sex nap. She wore you out with all the toys, teasing, and overstimulation earlier.Â
âPrincess,â she purred in your ear. You already knew where this was heading. âI know youâre not sleeping.âÂ
âWell, Iâm not now,â you said in your whiny voice. She always liked it when you whined a little.Â
âGood,â she said. âCome look at me. I have to tell you something.â Slick fingers wrapped around your waist as you shifted under the duvet so you looked her in her eyes. You were greeted with a face full of concern. She looked distressed. Jennie bit her lip in nervousness. She knew what she was about to reveal would be a big blow to your relationship and put it to the test. You saw how hard it was for her to speak.Â
âItâs okay,â you said, your heart beginning to race. âTake your time.â
âPlease donât freak out.â But it was too late for that; you were already freaking out. âYG thinks it's going to be a good idea for me to get into a scandal.â You continued to listen.âOne that allows me to capitalize on internet rumors. They want me to start hanging out with Kai and then it will get revealed that I am dating him around the same time as my solo debut.âÂ
Your eyes widened. âWhat? Donât they look at the internet? Why would YOU of ALL idols need to get into a dating scandal? They already dragged your name through the mud after what happened at the Lotte concert. Why would this be a good idea?âÂ
âAfter seeing the response from Hyuna and Dawn, they thought it would be good for me and Blackpink.â She played with the curls in your hair. âPlus, YG is trying to distract the media from something big that has been rumored to be going on with Big Bang and, you know, he always sacrifices us.âÂ
âWhy are you trying to justify this? Jennie, this is a horrible idea. Youâre just gonna let him do this to you? What if it backfires? Then what? What about me..?â Your emotions were starting to get the best of you as your voice began to shake. âHow am I supposed to feel? You won't even tell your family about us. Now I'm just supposed to be cool while you spend what little free time you have with someone else?âÂ
You were tearing up. You didn't want to pressure her to come out but remaining in hiding was a huge deal for you. Your family all knew. Your friends knew. You wanted to shout to the world your love for her but you kept it secret, all for her sake. Now she was gonna be photographed and used like a tool to make YG richer. You had to let her know how you felt whether she was ready to hear it or not.Â
You saw her face fall in real time. She already knew you were going to respond like this. There was nothing she could do. She was in a legal binding contract with YG Entertainment. Truth be told they decided all of this without her consent and had already finalized all of the non disclosure agreements before they even told her.Â
âY/N, I don't even want to do this at all. I donât have a choice. Iâm just trying to find a silver lining in a dark situation. The ârelationshipâ has an expiration date and, trust me, I wonât leave him for you.â She kissed your forehead and pulled you into her arms. You laid there as she ran her fingers through your hair. You had no choice but to trust her and just pray and hope the situation between you and her would never change.Â
You were brought back to reality, after recalling the frustrating memory. âI know the thought of Kai makes you feel a little insecure,â your friend said.Â
âDonât remind meâŚâÂ
âY/N, if you feel this upset youâre going to have to ask her. You know Jennie can't hold up her act in front of you. Knowing is better than sitting around and wondering whatâs going on,â she said. âLook I gotta get some sleep. Itâs almost two in the morning. Iâll check on you tomorrow...and think about what I said.â
The line went dead and now you were left alone in the dark with your thoughts. You knew that your friend was right but you werenât sure if you were ready for your questions to be answered. What if she was cheating? What were you going to do about it? How would you handle it? Were you prepared to leave all three years of memories behind? Â
[1:47am] Jennie - Are you up right now? Can I come over?Â
Seeing your phone light up with a notification from your girlfriend almost made you want to laugh. It was as if she knew that you were thinking of her, as if she had intercepted your negative thoughts of lies and cheating.Â
[1:50am] I am. You can come over now if you want. I want to ask you something.Â
[1:50 am] Jennie- Iâll be there in 20 mins.Â
It was now or never. You got dressed, sporting your favorite pair of sweats and a T-shirt. You washed your face and brushed your teeth, worried about what came next. Anything could happen now. If things went well and everything was a figment of your imagination, itâd be over and the two of you would make love all night into the early hours of the morning. But if things went badly, youâd spend the rest of your night crying until you couldnât cry anymore and burying yourself in a grave full of regret and doubt. Whatever the outcome, you told yourself, it was better than being stuck in a limbo of uncertainty.Â
A sound at the door disrupted your thoughts. Jennie opened the front door, closing it shut behind her. She was wearing comfy clothes, probably coming straight from practice. Her demeanor was off, with a look of dejection plastered across her face. At the sight of her, your heart began pounding in your chest. She didnât say anything until she put her coat down and grabbed a glass of water.Â
The conversation started off with âHeyâ and âHow was your day?â The next four minutes were filled with small talk, awkward things that you never really talked about before. Her actions were off. She sat, closed off from you. Not once did she try to touch you. Not once did she try to kiss you. Not once did she say she loved you. Your mind already shifted into worst case scenario mode before she even opened her mouth.Â
âY/N, I loved you. I want you to know that.â She took a deep breath. Loved. Past tense. âI think Itâs time for us to take a break.âÂ
âWhy?âÂ
âIâve been going through a lot after all of these scandals and the mounting pressure from YG and I don't want to keep being a bad girlfriend to you. You deserve better.âÂ
Every word that came from her mouth broke your heart into pieces. How could she suddenly feel this way? Why was there no emotion on her face? Why were there no signs of sadness or regret? What the fuck was the point of the past three years if she was willing to end it all without any sign of remorse. You couldnât stand the silence and decided to speak, trying to keep your voice down.Â
âThree Years. Weâve been together three years and that's all youâre gonna say? Seriously Jennie, be honest for once. I can see right through your bullshit. After all this time, why donât you tell me the truth? Why have you been acting differently? Why havenât you been answering my calls and taking your time to respond to texts? You don't stop by anymore and you donât even want me to stop by the studio to bring you food. Why the sudden change?âÂ
You were so angry you hadnât realized that you were screaming.Â
Jennie sat there, stone faced and motionless. She knew the answer to all of your questions but couldnât bring herself to crush you like that. She wanted this to end peacefully, to the point where you could still be friends. But she didnât know if that was possible. Not after she betrayed you in the worst way.Â
Back in Paris, sheâd gone out for drinks with Kai. Youâd both had too much and he flirted with you and you flirted back. She knew she was playing a dangerous line but the idea of playing with fire made her excited. One thing led to another and she crossed the line. She had sex with him, waking up in the middle of the night with her clothes scattered all over the hotel room. She quietly got dressed and left the room, ashamed of the mess sheâd made.Â
She cried in her own hotel room for the rest of the day, ignoring her phone and cutting off communication with everyone. How could she be so selfish? Being drunk was never an excuse. She shouldn't have let herself go like that. She didn't deserve you. You needed someone who was gonna be strong, not a weakling who would betray their lover and jump in bed with the first man that flirted with them.Â
Soon, she fell back into destructive habits. Everything was out of her control but the one thing she could control was her weight. She went into the bathroom and puked away all of her guilt. She was hoping that it would make all of the guilt and pain disappear but it didnât. Kai was gorgeous and even though it would be easier, he wasnât you. Truth be told, she had been denying the realities of her own sexual identity and that night confirmed it for her. She loved you and only you but she knew that you deserved better. She couldn't bring herself to break your heart. She treated you worse and worse, hoping one day you would get sick of her shit and leave but the day didnât come. You were as loyal as a dog and would never leave her side.Â
Currently, she was faced with the reality of continuing to lie or being honest with you. She chose honesty. âI fucked up. Y/N, I had sex with Kai.â Jennie burst into tears. âIâm so sorryâ Jennie cried into her sweater. She couldn't even hold herself together, fearful of the best thing that ever happened to her would be walking out the door in a minute.Â
You were motionless. The truth had come to the light and your worst fear was true. Sheâd lied to you, cheated on you, completely broken your trustâŚÂ
âFor what it's worth, It was only one time,â Jennie explained, âand I was drunk. Itâs not an excuse and Iâm sorry I couldnât keep my promise to you to be faithful. I know I'm full of shit. I couldn't handle the guilt and thought that if I pushed you away, it would help. But tonight Iâm ready to be a woman and own up to my mistakes and let you know that I love you with all of my heart. If you can find it in your heart to forgive me, Iâll never ever betray you again. Iâll do whatever it takes to prove to you that I love you and that we can get past this. But if you want to call it quits, I understand. Y/N, the decision is all yours now.âÂ
