AO3 Writers PSA
Maybe this is obvious to everyone else, but AO3 writers -
You can subscribe to yourself. Maybe you even should.
To be honest, having done this now, and having had it for probs the better part of a year, I recommend it! It might sound a little illogical at first, but I was very curious what my readers were seeing when they got their notification emails, both in relation to how obvious it was when I posted multiple things at once (e.g. how easy it might be to miss a second or third chpt/fic that came in the same email) or if my summary formatting looked weird, or if the tags I wanted to be more obvious weren’t obvious at all, and so on and so forth.
Yes it affects your user subscription stat, but that’s literally the only downside I can think of, and it’s “only” one user, and one that you’re aware of.
Of course you might not care about any of these things, or try it and not like even more ao3 emails in your inbox, and that’s totally fine!! But, well, I’ve never heard of anyone else doing it, and I thought it was worth mentioning ^.^/

I live in the US and my email inbox is always corporate hell-adjacent on Thanksgiving
HUGE Thank You to every fan creator in Ao3 who posted today and gave me something to be grateful for in my inbox. I always perk up when checking that inbox and it was especially warming today <3

COMMENT ON OLD FICS, I BEG YOU!
I swear to god after like a week people will still be reading but nobody leaves comments anymore and I just want to make it absolutely clear that I would be excited and elated to get a comment on these fics one hundred years after I post them.
A FIC IS NEVER TOO OLD TO LEAVE A NICE COMMENT ON. GO FORTH AND COMMENT!

I wish more fanartists would put their work on AO3. Just followed an artist who organizes their work by making a series for Fandom X, and within that, they have multi-chapter works for different ships & gen. Every new chapter is just their latest image for that subject.
It's been so delightful not to have to wade through social media algorithms and endless ads.

Jason as those AO3 authors who have the worst tragedies happening to them and yet still continues to pump out his new chapter every week
Some poor, unbeknownst Gothamite: “My favorite fanfic writer hasn’t posted or updated any of their fanfic in like four years. I don’t want to bug them but I’m always hoping for them to come back. I hope their okay :( ”
Jason, in between cutting off right hand mens heads and antagonize black mask, like Really Living It Up: “hey, sorry, guys! I know it’s been forever! I literally died and clawed my way back from zombiehood, but I’m back now! Hope you enjoy this new chapter!”

Don't leave this kind of comment on a one shot. This is a whole fic. I spent hours writing it. Just because it's not 100k words and 40+ chapters doesn't mean it's not a complete fic.
