I just saw that you were making a Hubba Bubba fightstick, but I didn't see any pictures of the finished result. Did you ever finish it? I would like to see pictures of it if you did :]

XD oh god, took this pic when i was at the old house, i made this project before i moved to a blue state and changed my life! that chapter of my life feels like it wasnt even real and it ended LAST DECEMBER IN 2024.

;w; anyway yeah, i got quite sidetracked for a number of reasons

basically, i found a really dope joystick enclosure thingy on a free 3D model thingy for 3D printing

so naturally i rhink to make a stick! i get the model, and i buy some components, and i make a cool dustwasher for the stick in adobe-free-photoshop-clone, and it SEEMS like ill make some headway.

but then i decide i wanna modify the model to make it into smaller puzzle pieces cuz my printer is p small, and then i notice the enclosure is under a licensing agreement so even if i make it how i want i cant recreate it and sell it on etsy if i want, and im SUPER a copyright abolitionist so i wanna make my OWN model

;w; and then im hit with the realization that freecad is hard to use and scary to my dumb babybrain and so is 3D printing itself cuz its a skill i dont know yet

and now im moved and all my components have yet to be sent up here and my printer isnt up here either

;w; and at this point i dont think this thing is happening the way i planned it....

:3 so obviously the next step is to find the time to re-buy and re-build some parts, then maybe hire a 3D designer to make a proper enclosure under a creative commons license, and THEN finish it

XD so you know... neurospicy brain kinda just subjecting itself to the eldritch horror of creativity and executive dysfunction, and we kinda just gotta see what happens.

:3 anyway i miiiiight consider re-working the concept into a legally distinct version based on a fictional candy in my book which itself is public domain, and make it a Bubble Topz controller

XD i mean why not? the expiration date on that washer was already a reference to the year that story takes place in, might as well make more references to the lore and fandom in my brain, art is insanity, Hastur is god, and i am head of the Theater of The Mad, WHY NOT????

just a thought but is there ever a time where the arcade wouldn't open for some reason? like, Moon was sick or they were renovating the place or they just took a holiday off?

Besides their normal days off, I imagine they occasionally have had to close due to illness, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. But it takes a very good reason for Sun to close unexpectedly. The guy loves working himself to death ☠️. Will power through colds and has a tendency to skip meals if the arcade is busy. Vacations are something that he hears other people do sometimes.

It became pretty obvious during the first Spring after the arcade’s opening that running the place during the busy Summer season with only two people wasn’t gonna cut it. It still took a lot for Moon to convince Sun that hiring a third was a necessity (enter y/n). The big thing that swayed him was Moon pointing out that Sun would have more time to do fun activities with the younger kids in the playplace if they had someone else to watch things on the arcade floor.

the age differences in the critical role cast are funny because you have matthew mercer (b. 1982) and marisha ray (b. 1989), both of which are young (comparatively) enough to lived through the fourth and fifth console generations and are fully locked into how how early 2000s and 2010s gaming worked, what the latest consoles are now, and matt even used to be a QA tester on video games.

commission of @ghostfacedbat's courier, aptly named Courier de Parchment (it's french), who's totally mute and uses a handheld TTS device to talk, which we've been co-developing as the plot and punchlines require. here's the super basic concept sketch i made of the device before i drew this piece:

the TTS device works sort of like a stenograph in that words are entered phonetically and processed/assembled by an internal program, but since it needs to be geared towards on-the-go use more than tabletop use, i arranged the steno keys to resemble the keys on a kalimba; each key has two different entries, one for single tap and one for double tap. with the vowel keys included, it's the same letter/function layout as a stenograph. words are entered with the thumbs and the tone switches are flipped with the index fingers on the back of the device. the voice holotapes are completely replaceable and reprogrammable, but both the machine and the holotape need to be made for the same language or else they won't work. or maybe it'll just come out with a really bizarre accent.

the TTS device doesn't have a name yet, but i'm thinking of calling it the Speakazoid... against my better judgement.

Okay two questions. First, at the arcade where theres only rhythm games do you think Kuukou would go for Pop’n Music, Dancerush Stardom or Beatmania first? And secondly, do you think Hitoya has a strong DDR history (like has fullcombo’d songs on heavy/challenge mode)?
