Yeah Edel started the war out of empathy, so much so that when people from the other nations fought back, she said "no u" and then proceed to mow them down. And then when she hears about the suffering of people under her war, she decides it's their fault for not relying on themselves. And that's not even getting into the fact that after the war she had to have her right hand man Hubie spy on people and put down anyone who opposes the Empire (which the dub notes are rebellions). Some empathy there lol. Like newsflash, nobody starts a war out of empathy. More often than not, it's for a selfish desire. In this case conquest. And Edel lacking empathy is a character flaw of hers (neither good or bad but a literary device).

Unfortunately, Edelgard cannot have any flaws, for M'Ladle can only be perfect.

She makes the commoner's living situations a thousand times worse by starting a war, which she believes will justify the means. And she'll even state that she would sacrifice her citizens to further her own goals. I am crying and screaming rn she's too good for us.

Ive said this before but swear the biggest skill to learn as an adult is how to resist high-pressure sales tactics. You do NOT have to answer questions with anything other than "Sorry I'm not interested." No matter how nice they are or no matter how many follow up questions they ask or even how agitated they get when you stand your ground. Just keep saying I'm not interested. Don't answer their questions. Don't give them an opening to try to push back on your reasons. Be a fucking brick wall of I'm not interested.
