Thing that baffles me about Palworld is now its been out a lil and people have explored it more... Apparenlty the whole slavery and animal abuse aspect which is *heavily advertised* as the quirky silly gimmick is... completely optional and often the worst way to play the game.

WHY WOULD YOU ADVERTISE IT LIKE THAT??? Oh yeah cuz people who dont like funny haha animal slavery are definitely going to buy the funny haha slavery game. And then its actually like 60% funny haha slavery.

Finally Ironed out some ninja designs! I Usually don’t share references but with the behind the scenes stuff I’m doing on my Skybound project I don’t have much else I can share yet.

There is a few headcanon/ Fic stuff in references and powers and the all ninja shot is for first part of Skybound project.

* Really trying to capture Nya’s character Ark which sent me right back to the video script because I remembered that one reddit post calling her a bitch and rage wrote for 2 hours.

* I am determined to make people see how good her character arc actually is.

* Throwing Jay shade in this one lol he was kinda awful even with being manipulated.

* Trying to convey clear Ideas and story through art is pain but also addicting.

* This is meant as a leading to both part two animatics, but bbnb Kai is shorter than wytyaa Kai. The difference is significant everything else pre dinner with Nadakhan is the same. The other head cannons are almost aligned as far as I know. It’s JUST Kai. What do I do with him?!? Lmao Might just distance him from the other ninja so you can’t tell how tall he is. Thank goodness he is the most gullible and first to wish it all away

Here’s all of my sonadow kids together! since I felt like doing 7 reference sheets will take a long time to do, I made something like this! It has all of their height differences, Lilac being the tallest and the twins being the smallest! Maybe at some point I will do their sheets but for now this will do. The other slides just show some dynamics between some of the sonadow kids, that are the most closest together or just stuck together, and I felt like showing them :) but in the end they all love eachother! This also took a long time to post because I’m no longer in my Sonic phase so I don’t know when I’ll be back to drawing again 🥲

Stuff about them, listed to oldest to youngest:

They were all created just like Shadow was created when he was in space colony ark. Shadow and Sonic's quill dna were used to create them all and Tails helped with their creation by creating the chamber/capsule just like shadow was in and were born/created as babies but Ruby was the only one adopted so she isn't biologically related.

Lilac is confident and bubbly, she has plant manipulation as her main power and she likes admiring nature and its animals and enjoys doing stuff outdoors like hiking, gardening or yoga.

Storm is quiet and arrogant, he has lightning as his main power and he likes using his electric guitar, thinks about forming a band with his friends and volunteers at G.U.N with his father, Shadow.

Ruby is calm and gentle, she has no powers of her own and she enjoys being in chao garden with the chaos and learning about their history, she would accompany her sister Diana or Cream the rabbit there sometimes! She also has a pet chao named Fluffy (she’s shown in the sketch drawing!)

Diana is anxious and reserved, she has out of control chaos power since birth from an accident and learning her newly formed psychic powers, but mostly uses hand to hand combat instead to defend herself from battles and from her nervousness of using power, she likes spending time with Ruby in the chao garden or do peaceful hobbies to make her feel less anxious.

Soarin is high spirited and kind, he has flight as his power and he likes to listen to tunes with his earbuds, likes helping anyone that needs it, is a bit heroic like his father Sonic, without being cocky, and he would sometimes happily join Lilac on her outdoor hobbies too.

Dash is cocky and energetic, he has speed as his main power and he likes annoying Storm whenever he can, be side by side with his twin sister, adventure like his father Sonic and having fun, getting into trouble, sometimes sarcastic and likes loud music blasting in speakers.

Molly is spunky and smart, she has super strength as her main power and she likes playing puzzle or strategy games, reading, being around tails and asking too many smart questions, battling and boasting when not thinking rationally, being side by side with her twin brother, also likes adventure and having fun, and loud music privately. (She’s basically has the mix of personality and some traits of Toph from the last airbender and Anais from tawog into one!)

Any questions anyone has I’ll try to answer them, maybe including my sonadow kids too if this gets noticed more! But for now I’ll have a hiatus from this account, I’ll be back if I ever want to draw Sonic again!

Wait, where does it say that Shadow loves hot pockets and pizza? Where does it say that Sonic has a 170+ IQ? I'm not angry or disbelieving, but there's all this Lore that I don't know about and I really, REALLY want to find it and read it.

Most of my details are assumed or implied from various SEGA or game related media/comic/ ova/shows and can be pretty shaky. Now a days, people look at tails tube for "official canon" I guess, but my comics mostly occur from sonic adventure-sonic unleashed, but I include HC and C in regards to pre sonic adventure lore.

Shadow liking hot pockets, etc: is from a game promo, but many people will tell me it's not canon. No one tells me what to do, I have my own reasons for collecting the [lore].

That promo is so cringe, I expect nothing less from a guy from the 50s, good for him. "I'm the coolest." "There's no time to play games." with his little trans-atlantic accent. so cute.

Sonic's IQ: is from Sonic X, but also I remember manuals and other stuff online in the 2000s mentioning random facts like that about Sonic characters. The sonic x/comic also hinted little facts.

Shadow is pretty chill: Sega once implied that shadow would have been just like sonic, had the ARK not failed. We see hints of this in the anime and how they expressed shadow before the amnesia. But because it's implied, you might get people telling you it's not canon. They both seem to express an introverted nature too, needing their alone time-- but Shadow is more defensive and insecure.

Both are hotheads with attitudes that hate being told what to do and will assume they can do it best and on their own. Shadow is just more angry looking, but he smirks a lot and takes himself too seriously.

Other things:

Sonic, "doesnt do drugs or curse": is official from the 90s. So I keep that in mind. Okay so sonic can drink? He clearly gambles. He also shows that he picks and chooses what laws he abides by, but also respects society enough to control himself when needed and even dated a princess.

Sonic's been in a relationship, long term, with Sally. So he may not be "romantic" (from SEGA), but that doesnt mean he's not interested in dating. It's just his personality. Although he did once say "Marriage?! No way!" which is funny. I think he just associates marriage with "settling down" and he's not into the classic domestic setting. Breaking boundries I see.

Sonic is not from earth, according to Sonic X, BUT it's also been implied that Mobians are from earth wayyyyy off in the future. But I think that's officially no longer canon? It was implied in the OVA, and comics, where in the comics they explain something about some gene stuff. Might have been during ke/n pen/ders though, and I try to avoid that fucking slug... I think they erased that timeline officially though.

Shadamy fans are cheering: Sega seems to hint that there's some kind of friendship between him and Amy a lot, even having matching outfits in merch.They even like sabrina carpender, good for them.

The boys are done, I am so happy 😭💚 Before I go into heavy detail about it, you're welcome to use this as a reference for Mael (and Saruman if you wanna make Fanart!) but I would be happy if you give some credits! I won't bite if you forget it, but do NOT steal it, claim it as your own, sell it or use it for AI. The same for Saruman; and don't steal/claim him as your own Character. (I know this should go without saying but for "legal" reasons I wanna say it again. Cuz I ain't gonna be nice to you if you break those rules 🙇 ) Also, heads up, if you're not interested in redesigns of Mael, then just don't interact 👍This is just MY version of him, how I prefer him. It's ofc okay to have different taste and opinions. AND this doesn't mean I don't like his canon design. I know i rant about it a lot but mostly bc it's funny. I fucking love Mael and I think he's such a great character that deserves hella more attention in the plot! His crocs are just silly LOL

MAEL

[This redesign is based on my Mael HC version for my own Saruman Lore and Manga(soon). That's why the armor looks really similar to each other. It takes place after the end of 7DS and plays around the same time as 4KotA (status now. Might change depending on how I decide to write it.) So the armor is intended to match!]

The symbols are the ones of Ludociel's original Grand Cross Outfit. The only one I added it the Cross over the sunrise at the ocean (I am aware this is the symbol used by the NAC (new apostolic church), but I didn't feel comfortable using other ones cuz at least I know they're not weirdos there (i grew up with it so..))

The rest about his design choices are explained in the sheet, I don't think I need to write all that here again! Tho, I tried to keep a lot of his original design (from Manga/Anime and Grand Cross), because there were really cool parts about it! (The first Mael HC version I posted still goes in hand with this!)

SARUMAN

I will put most stuff on his artfight file, but to give you a bit of an overview of Saru:

Age: 6,000 ; Species : ?? (for lore reasons, I'm gonna keep this off for now. Spoiler: I know he looks like a demon and has demon powers, but that's the plot point,,). Saru can be very protective and empathetic (despite not wanting to acknowledge this himself). Besides, his observation skills and charisma are quite remarkable. He is a smart man who observes everything and everyone without being noticed, which is what makes him so dangerous. Tho he can be very emotionally detached and lazy. On top, he's hot-headed, which makes his snapping very unpleasant.

Saruman likes beer and food and hates rain, while loving snow.

Mael:

Ark ( Counteracts darkness by disintegrating it with light particles. The target is enveloped in a dazzling sphere of light that breaks apart their body)

Killing Saucer (Mael creates blades of light in his hand that rotate at high speed, which he uses to slice his enemies.)

Vessel (Mael is able to make human bodies as vessels, to wield his divine power. The possession process, requiring the host's consent, grants Mael access to his full abilities while also causing changes to the host's body.)

General Demon Powers:

Power of Darkness (Saruman can create and manipulate a mysterious dark substance to enhance both his offensive and defense abilities. He has been using it to protect himself from attacks that would otherwise cause serious injury. He can also morph it into various shapes)

Enhanced Regeneration (Saruman can use his darkness to piece together an injured body and mend gave wounds, but is unable to regenerate destroyed hearts and any damage sustained accumulates)

Poison Resistance (As he is naturally accustomed to miasma-rich environments, Saruman can more easily survive poisons and toxins than Humans or Giants. However, Saruman can easily be poisoned by the miasma of Purgatory or the excretions of an Indura of Resentment)

Possession (Saruman is able to make human bodies as vessels, and use them as his own. However, the vessel may have difficulty hosting him, leading their bodies to undergo transformations or some abilities that are left behind. Unlike Goddesses who possess someone by consensus and use their own abilities through the vessel, Saruman possess by force, and usually is unable to use his authentic power but that of the vessel)

Unique Abilities:

Black Snow (An ability that creates and scatters countless flakes of black “snow”. Anyone that comes into contact with the snow will be enveloped in darkness and dies instantly)

Dead End (Saruman raises his hand and materializes the same numerous tiny, black spheres that form Dark Snow. By clenching his hand, the tiny spheres merge into a large black sphere, causing surrounding plants to wither and die. Saruman points his fingers and the sphere is fired in the direction of his opponent. Upon impact, the sphere causes a large explosion. The target’s body is then completely enveloped by the sphere, and they are instantly killed)

Dark Nebula (A dark void expands outwards from Saruman, completely destroying anything caught within range)

Blackout (Saruman engulfs a specific target with his darkness)

Duo Abilities:

Dark Sun (Saruman can envelop Mael's sun in his Dark Nebula without extinguishing it. This allows him to protect the sun and control it's movement with his own hand. However, Mael must activate the trigger “Greatest Sun” himself.)

Burning Snow (Saruman can split the sun of Mael, which he has enveloped in his Dark Nebula, into endless tiny flakes, like his own Dark Snow. Anyone who comes into contact with the flakes triggers a widespread explosion. However, Mael can also trigger “Greatest Sun” himself, causing countless explosions.)

Silly Atem headcanons

He’s always loved wearing dark clothing. He didn’t get to in Egypt because wearing black in Egypt? Not the best idea.

The first upside he discovers when he gets his own body: piercings & tattoos.

He and Yugi have a duel to decide who gets the top bunk bed.

He likes seeing depictions of Ancient Egypt in media. Of course he points out a LOT of the inaccuracies, but he enjoys the stuff. He laughs at old mummy horror flicks and thinks the pyramids in Sonic the Hedgehog are fun. He also really likes Raiders of the Lost Ark (he doesn't know if there was a real Staff of Ra, but he really wishes he had one) and LOVES The Prince of Egypt (he tears up every time he rewatches it).

But he's not the least bit amused by the conspiracy theories about aliens and Ancient Egypt. It's one of his worst triggers. The first time he heard about it was when Jonouchi showed him Ancient Aliens for fun. At first, he thought it was funny. Until he found out some people actually believed in it. Let's just say don't ever bring it up, unless you want to send Atem into a two hour long rant.

Museums are an interesting experience. To give you an idea of what he would be like visiting a museum featuring Egyptian artifacts:

He’s a Disney princess. He loves animals and is friends with them. He will stop and admire a beetle or a lizard he comes across, he feeds the birds at the park, and he's basically the King of Games AND Cats. And he's the same with animals that most people wouldn't consider 'pet friendly'. He will gladly give a lion scritches on the head and snuggle a python.

However, he doesn't love all of them. If there's one thing Atem's really afraid of, like have an actual phobia of, it's crocodiles (and gators by extension). He's from Ancient Egypt, after all. He would be kinda like FX'S Archer:

Atem can easily hold his own in a fight, even kill a man himself. Being a prince of Egypt, he was trained in combat and warfare, from hand-to-hand to sword fighting. Even when he’s lost his memories, he still can fight from muscle memory (“Where did you learn how to do that!?” “I don’t know!”).

HATES the cold. He bundles himself up as much as possible during the winter and prefers to stay inside under a heated blanket or near a space heater with a cup of cocoa.

His first time visiting a Christian church is...interesting, to say the least. He likes how it reminds him of the Ancient Egyptian religion because of the hymns, incense, wine and bread, and processions. It does get awkward: like when the plagues of Egypt come up, or every time Atem asks questions about ANYTHING, or when he learns about Jesus Christ ("He sacrificed himself and was resurrected to save humanity." "Hey, me too.")

The photo album on his phone is a lot like a middle aged dad’s. It’s mostly cats, scenery, or Yugi and the gang, and a bunch of them are out of focus or aimed wrong. He almost never takes selfies and he looks surprised or confused in a lot of the ones Yugi takes with him.

He likes watching old movies or listening to records from Grandpa Muto’s collections. This is how he becomes a Rolling Stones fan. Yugi and Anzu are also able to find modern music he would be into, like Seal and David Bowie. He also likes listening to Taylor Swift with Anzu. Jonouchi introduces him to Nickelback as a joke, but Atem ends up liking them.

Out of the Ark Trio, Who's the oldest and Who's the most mature? :3

I'd say Maria is the oldest and Chris is the youngest! Regardless they are all around the same age range and would go to the same school.

Out of all of them, I'd say Helen is the most mature. She would rather hang out with her animals and watch nature docs when she feels Maria and Chris are doing something incredibly stupid (that would most likely get them in trouble lmao). She's a huge Zoology and Paleontology nerd (she's just like me fr fr). If an animal is acting strange Helen will definitely know what to do or what it means, making her a very valuable friend to have in this particular AU's case. Though she's the most mature, she does has that occasional chaotic streak and will accompany Maria in her shenanigans from time to time. She also hosts tea parties with many of the animals and robots which a cute little fun fact for you!

Maria still has that big heart of hers she's always known for, but like Movie Maria, she's very mischievous and is often getting into trouble (Team Dark Member certified fr fr /j). But I'd say she's the second most mature. She's very emotionally intelligent and always knows what to say when her friends (or animals) are being down and need comfort/words of encouragement. She's also a good inventor, as an adult she'd be as good as her Cousin lol.

Chris is kind of a pushover and never made many friends. He likes going along with Maria's tricks (even if they are uh... Interesting.) And loves listening to Helen's massive info-dumps/rants about Paleontology and Zoology lol. In terms of friend-group dynamics, he's very much the "Darwin Watterson" of the trio! He also likes to write stuff! He's shy, but around those he's close to he's pretty talkative! His parents help fund the ark (which is why he's there in the first place) but they don't visit as often as they should- this resulted in him taking a great liking to Tom and Maddie! He looks up to them heavily and goes to them for guidance when feeling particularly lost or when in need of advice!

The 3 are VERY close and do everything together! They play video games, watch movies, etc etc, truly the friend group of all time (complete with all the funny witty banter and squabbles that comes with it) 😎

I know you just asked about who's the oldest and youngest, but I was in the mood for sharing lore today LOL.

I have two that are pretty Black Arms centric and I'd love to talk about them!

#1: The Black Prince

Black Doom sneaks aboard the Ark and steals Shadow before he left the tube for the first time and brings him to the Ark! From there Black Doom creates Eclipse to be Shadow's brother/personal training partner and raises the two of them. Shadow becomes known as the Black Prince, Doom's heir. The Black Arms make their way across the universe, with Shadow convincing Doom to make alliances with the other planets instead of straight up conquering them. Eventually, they discover a Chaos Emerald, which allows the Black Comet to return to Earth way before the 50 years is up.

Meanwhile, Gerald and Maria got kicked off the Ark when Shadow went missing, so they were forced to go home to Earth. There, Gerald did what he could to recreate the ultimate lifeform and also did what he could to treat Maria's illness. Gerald ended up succeeding in recreating the ultimate lifeform, and made Terios! (Shadow beta design babyyyyy!) So Maria and Terios grow up together until the present time.

Anyway, the Black Arms invade Earth and Shadow ends up coming into contact with Terios. Now Terios knows about Shadow's origins and how he was stolen, but Shadow doesn't! So Terios starts trying to get Shadow on his side and this makes Shadow start to doubt a lot of what he thought he knew. Aaaaand, I'll pause there because that's about as far as I have planned. >:) I will get around to writing this one some day.

#2: Little Gremlins

So this is the Lilo and Stitch AU. XD Shadow (and Eclipse) are genetic experiments created by Black Doom to be the secret weapons of the Black Arms, who are waging a universe wide war. Shadow ends up getting captured by the good guys before escaping to Earth and crash landing on Hawaii. He gets picked up as a pet by the family of Knuckles and his two little brother Sonic and Tails. The family quickly realizes Shadow is way more than an animal and Sonic starts teaching him how to be good.

Of course the Black Arms stuff comes back to bother them later, but that's spoilers. If you want a hint though, check under the cut in this post I made.

How do you explain the wolf transformation? (I'm the anon who said that wanted to make the silly little animations)

I like to ground things in a reality that is functional (I'm sure you can understand fjtjjt) so I was just wondering if you have any ideas on how the transformation works, especially with matter not being created or destroyed

So under most circumstances changing forms is easy and fluid, it doesn't hurt at all and it happens really fast. That being said it does still look horrific , the operative word I would use is 'sculpting'.

The exception to this is if he's changing due to a seizure, in which case the Wolf practically rips itself free in its panic. This hurts a lot more and it's very bloody, it's not pleasant.

As for grounding in realism and conservation of mass and, like, where his clothes go and stuff? Umm... I dunno, maybe it's like an Animorphs scenario? There's just a corner of The Ark that works as the communal shapeshifter hammer-space for werebeasts? Yeah Imma go with that.

Okay I 100% legally watched Sonic 3.

6/10, overhyped.

I think I enjoyed the second movie more actually, but let me walk through this.

As a brief summary, basically Gerald was imprisoned for 50 years and designed the Eclipse Cannon (it's just a flying saucer laser) in return for his freedom. GUN built it, but it needs two keys to activate. So it's kinda a race to see who can get both keys and either destroy the world or save it. Gerald was also the one who hacked into the system and disabled Shadow's stasis as well as stole Eggman's tech to lure him to the research facility for a team-up. That's the basis of the plot.

Firstly, the beginning is...a million miles a minute. I thought the trailers were hypercut, but no the scenes really are just that fast. (At least until we get to Carrey. Animating hedgehogs is too expensive.) Sonic's having a party, GUN shows up like "we need Team Sonic" and Sonic is literally just like "I like the name, let's go!" that's it. No briefing, no convincing from the organization that tased and captured him, just go.

I did find the little "What did you do, Sonic?" "I don't know, I do a lot of things" line to be funny, though.

Also before they jump out of the chopper, Sonic does the "talk about low budget flights" but it is...so forced. Like the entire idea behind that line in SA2 is Sonic is being a cheeky bastard because they captured him, here he just randomly says it for no reason.

NOW THE ACTUAL BEST PART OF THE MOVIE, Shadow and Maria. God they were SO CUTE. Like this is the stuff I wanted out of Dark Beginnings. Maria on roller skates while Shadow pulls her around the base, just getting into kid mischief, watching movies, slipping keycards to go sit out and watch the stars... Oh my god AND THE BUNNY FACE SHE DRAWS ON HIS TUBE. These scenes? 10/10.

Actually, when Commander Walters finally briefs Sonic, the way it was edited really made me think "oh shit did...did Shadow accidentally kill Maria in this movie?" that's obviously not what happened, but I was interested to see what angle they took.

Oh yeah and Maria didn't get shot. She died from an explosion CAUSED by a gunshot. The solider was trying to shoot her though, just Walters knocked the gun because "that's a child!" So there's that. (Not allowed to hate the GUN commander here, after all, he's on Sonic's side! He can't be for child murder!)

It was also...not as dramatic as I thought it would be. It's like 30 seconds. Gerald runs up, says "We have to go, they wanna take Shadow from us!" Then 10 seconds later, boom. I'm not paraphrasing, by the way.

Oh yeah, I guess I should mention Gerald. He's 110 and still alive. I was not opposed to this, I like to think I'm receptive to changes in AUs and I was curious what they could do with Gerald actively manipulating Shadow. Here's what they do: Jim Carrey. It's just double the Jim Carrey shenanigans and yes, it is tiring. Shadow has a moment like "I don't know if this is what Maria would have wanted..." and Gerald just goes "it's not about what she wanted, it's about what they deserve" and that's...basically it. YOU COULD'VE DONE MORE WITH THIS, BRO.

On top of that, Shadow was not created: he was found inside a meteor that looks A LOT like the Black Comet. Considering this is meant to be modern day Earth and not a huge fictional universe like the games where there's advanced space stations and such in the 50s (oh yeah the ARK ain't real here) I'm fine with this. Keeps his alien origins while aligning to the movie universe.

And I was kinda surprised but I THINK there's a reference to the fandub?? Sonic calls Shadow "Hot Topic" nooo my secret!!! so that was interesting. Could also just be some of their famous product placement, but this movie is also less...commercial than the others. No Olive Garden mentioned. Guess they used all the ad space on Knuckles.

Anyways, while getting the second key, Shadow punches Tom because he has the key and is currently disguised as Commander Walters, the one who sealed Shadow away. This is important, this is like the basis for the entire end of the movie because apparently one punch to the chest is enough to knock Tom out and put him in the hospital.

Now Sonic ALSO wants revenge, so he gets the Master Emerald to go super and...I just gotta point out, Knuckles left it with Wade. The way EVERYONE IN THE THEATER GROANED WHEN WADE POPPED UP ON SCREEN it was beautiful. Nice to know we all hate the Knuckles show.

This all leads to Shadow's reform which was...ech? After Sonic is like "no I won't kill you, that's not who I am, revenge doesn't make things better" Shadow is like "I didn't have a choice in who I became" and Sonic says "you always have a choice", Live and Learn plays and they go to stop the cannon firing on Earth. It felt so...shallow for a character like Shadow. Nothing about how Maria loved the world, so he should protect the world to honor her memory, it's just "revenge is bad". I guess it's to be more relatable to Sonic because they lean more into them being two sides of the same coin, but it's just so rushed and hollow.

Meanwhile Eggman kills his grandfather in a really drawn out unfunny sequence because he wants to rule the world, not destroy it, but the canon is already set to fire so they instead turn it away from the Earth while Super Sonic and Shadow block the ray. (The moon getting hit is an accident.)

Also you have no idea how much I wanted them to show Sonic trying to save Shadow, but only getting his inhibitor ring, THOUGH SONIC IS THE ONE WHOSE SUPER FORM FAILS. In this universe, I guess it makes sense because Sonic isn't the absolute powerhouse his game version is. But does Shadow show his growth and try to save him? No, it takes Tails and Knuckles awhile to address that.

Anyways, the reactor is unstable so Eggman tries to buy time while Shadow pushes the weapon away from Earth and then it blows up, killing both of them. ...Well Shadow shows up in the post-credits alive so I guess just Eggman is dead...maybe. Because the other scene shows a shit ton of Metal Sonics a la Shadow Android and Amy shows up to save him as the 4th teaser.

Overall, my issue isn't that it changed SA2's story, I wanted something different because I literally have SA2 at home. It's just these changes have all their potential completely squandered in favor of a lot and I mean a LOT of Jim Carrey nonsense. He's like half this movie.

With the writing quality of these films, I shouldn't be surprised, but I really thought after the second movie, they were on a good track. After seeing everyone else love it, it's kinda disappointing to find it rather mid.

Oh yeah and nothing from the bowling tournament teaser line in the Knuckles series, either. After making us sit through that hell, I WANTED to see Shadow bowl. We truly were robbed.

The upcoming Skybound issues for Transformers reveals Starscream’s reaction to Megatron.

This is what I immediately thought of. ⬆️

They also tease a fight between Megatron and Astrotrain, as the two have beef in this continuity.

Because Megatron’s blind due to the Ark crashing and a battle in Cobra-La, Laserbeak has become his seeing eye pigeon.

He’s pretty much become Garret, the hot, blind guy from Quest for Camelot, only with his Silver Winged Falcon medically hooked to his eyes so he can see. (Quest for Camelot, how’s that for a deep cut?)

I feel like Laserbeak is muttering “Up, left, right, uppercut! No, no, no, your other right!” to Megatron on this cover.

The story promises a new group of Autobots being reactivated to help. It’s been teased in letters pages that it might be the Aerialbots.

This could be very good or very bad, as comics tend to not treat the Aerialbots super well….

Superion doesn’t get to do much in Marvel, he dies horribly in Dreamwave, and while he survives IDW, he’s created by unknown means, he gets horribly mangled, is out on life support for the longest time, Slingshot dies, is experimented on with the Enigma that forces them to not fuse until Superion anymore, until they do to fight Unicron.

So Superion is a coin flip here, especially considering Skybound’s penchant for death.

He’ll PROBABLY be fine. Trailbreaker isn’t dead yet and Warpath survived, so that’s something.

While the Energon Universe has been crossing over from the start, the Transformers book will start seeing more bleed over from GI Joe. The Joe prequel books still heavily involved the Transformers and Void Rivals has BECOME a proper Transformers book, but it’s sounding like this is the main book’s first proper crossover with the assembled Joes. Likewise the GI Joe book teases Hound appearing.

Meanwhile Wreck-Gar gets to appear in Void Rivals.

The Junkions rarely get to appear on TV anymore; Wreck-Gar’s last true appearance was Animated, with a blink and you’ll miss it cameo in RiD15. Their schtick was talking TV, which meant a mishmashing of different pop culture stuff in the 80’s, with the TFWIKI remarking the 80’s cartoon staff inadvertently predicted internet culture. Wreck-Gar spoke normally in TFA, the trade off being he was voiced by Weird Al, but it’ll be interesting to see how Skybound interprets the Junkions. They’re either going to talk TV like in the 80’s, or the staff will make them talk in cringy internet jargon. IDW sort of did both, where Wreck-Gar did talk TV, but his dialog tended to be so nonsensical it sounded like it came from an old internet chat room. So we’ll see soon enough.

I've been rewatching Enies Lobby, and it's honestly quite interesting that this ark shows a lot about how devil fruits work, which comes back at us way later in the story!

(I remember someone here was talking that the use of powers largely depends on the user imagination) Like with zoans - we've seen the (very limited way) they are used. (with the sole exception of Chopper) For attack power! And most of the animals are were well-suited for this purpose - a bison, a falcon, a big cat, a wolf, etc. But the animal Kaku got is a Giraffe! And they are not know for their battle abilities do they! So unlike Jabra and Lucci he actually has to think about the best way to use his giraffe form. And we've seen how that turned out - his body acted in a silly way which shouldn't be possible for a normal animal! Similar silliness is seen with prehistoric zoans in Wano! They don't really know how their animal is supposed to act - so they do whatever they want!!

(plus Chopper's monster form is really similar to a zoan awakening)

Similar with Kalifa who ended up with a ridiculous and nearly useless in combat fruit - she had to get creative! And with her we see how a fruit can even affect intangible concepts, like someone's strength, if the user puts their mind to it! It's later seen in thriller bark with Kuma whose fruit can repel not only attacks and physical objects but someone's pain too! (and later in egghead) even memories.

Man, One Piece is great, it's just so fun to think about!!! When using devil fruits the only thing that constraints you, is your mind, haha!

Devil fruits are just so silly I like how anyone can do anything with them. Sorry I don't really know what to add here cause I'm not the person to come to for like, in world power stuff LMAO I just think they're funny and silly

What are your thoughts on the 5DS movie bonds beyond time? Plot characters villain animation and so on

Ahhh, good old BBT. Minor caveat: It's been a hot second since I've seen the movie. But generally speaking, right from the gut? Bit of a mixed bag, this one. Let me address what you asked point by point, though. The tl;dr for anyone who doesn't want a lengthy response: I don't hate it, but outside of making me grin and/or fondly roll my eyes about some fanservice, I'm mostly just ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ about it. I appreciate it for the extremely fun attempt at a for the time pretty ambitious crossover, though.

The longer response, then:

Okay. Okay. Conceptually speaking? This movie is the absolute peak of fanservice. All three protags of all three ygo shows that had come out by that time, all teaming up against a special bad guy, and everyone's allowed to show off their coolest shit? Absolutely bananas. Fuck yeah.

Where the execution is concerned, though... Let me start with the obvious: This thing is too short. It doesn't feel like a proper movie, it feels like your average big plot duel stretched over two episodes. And that's a shame! Because Yugi's there, and so is Jaden, and these two and Yusei get to bounce off each other and I think a lot of people would have eaten it up if we had gotten more of that. Interactions aside, though, the short runtime also makes the plot feel rushed. First Yusei's sad, then things are going to shit, the he's off, then we're suddenly in Venice (what the fuck is Jaden doing in Venice??), then we're in Domino City, then blam, bam, onto the big duel. Can I get some time to breathe and actually enjoy the characters interacting, please?

And speaking of plot! Now, on paper, I don't have an issue with the idea of a guy going back in time to try and get rid of duel monsters. My problem lies more with the fact that the guy in question ties into 5Ds' main plot. And in a not insignificant way, at that. Like, perhaps in a universe where this movie was handled differently, BBT tying into the Iliaster stuff could have been cool as heck, but as it stands, Paradox and his plans feel a little too close to his namesake to me. The guy is almost exclusively relegated to a movie, to outside content of the show that wasn't shown in sequence with the rest of the episodes, yet he's actually one of the major characters of the Ark Cradle arc. And worse yet, said arc only gives us the barest, shittiest recap of who he is and what he wanted. It feels too disconnected from the rest for me, especially considering that Sherry more or less ends up replacing Paradox. And don't even get me started on the batshit implications his quest to kill Pegasus has on the way time travel is handled in 5Ds. The way this movie shows direct, devastating consequences of time being tampered with is a major reason for the headaches the emperors of Iliaster give me, which I've discussed in my Meklord post.

That said. I don't think Paradox, per se, is a bad antagonist. He's got the whole long-suffering shindig the other major players of Iliaster do, too, his design is bonkers in a fun way and of course, the idea of him hijacking protagonist ace monsters with his Malefic shenanigans makes him perfectly hateable. On paper, he's a completely fine antagonist, and I actually think the 3 V 1 duel he has with the protags is pretty fun.

And as for the animation, no notes there, honestly. I think BBT has some of the nicest animation of the 5Ds era (and especially like the way Yusei is animated in the movie).

So yeah! The whole thing is a bit hot and cold for me. I know some people love BBT to death, I know some people hate it with a fiery passion, and tbh, I get where both sides are coming from. Ultimately, I'll happily watch it, but there are always at least twenty other 5Ds episodes I'd watch even more happily. BBT is fine.
